Arbormon NSFT

Arbormon doesn't have much of a sex drive, but the rare time he does, he's very gentle and quite cautionary with everything he does. Asking permission, giving light touches... He very much enjoys the softness that is first brough in with sex and the like.

Maybe I'm just a hater, but I found this one really boring. The plot was basically "this place is dark and scary...actually, maybe it's not that scary? Okay, time to battle." Hopefully they give me something to be invested in soon.

Notes:

I think this is the first time we've seen all the beast spirits together! Squad. I think that was the most exciting part of the episode to me.

I like how Trailmon can unlatch his entire roof and wall to dump the kids out. That would make a fun toy lol

The whole scene where they talk to Bokomon about not judging a book by its cover felt way too "hey kids! The moral of the story is..." No subtlety to be seen. Also, why are they teaching kids that the dark, creepy forest isn't that bad once you get to know it? Don't go into the forest kids! 😭

The Pipismon scene was pretty random (although it's kinda nice that they introduced a digimon just to be like "isn't nature cool?") I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with the tongue twisters, but it was fun hearing which ones they went with in Japanese versus English

I can't take Duskmon's Edgy McEdgelord design (and personality) seriously. He reminds me of Shadow the Hedgehog or something. His betrayal of Arbormon wasn't all that shocking since he hasn't been a team player this whole time. I guess it's kind of rare for a digimon villain tho? I wonder how the rest of the villain squad will react when they find out.

(Duskmon's outfit also kinda reminds me of the ugliest Haseo outfit lol).

Revisiting Tromon... Topimon!

Alright! The final and most drastic redesign!

I stated before that I was never happy with Tromon's design. I was so stuck on the toy horse-centaur look and just constantly struggled to make something that both looked good and felt good to draw. Even the 2020 revisit was rough, getting a little easier to draw but now not looking as good with out the extra details. And all those little extra details were making them look less like a rookie to Arbormon, and more like... An alternate Arbormon?

It wasn't fun. I always dreaded drawing them, and felt super stuck because I already released their design for the comic long before they actually appeared.

Now I'm older, I've cancelled the DMFR comic so I don't need to stick to my old choices anymore, and I've got more life experience to work with now. So back to the drawing board.

I wanted to keep the horse theme. Keep this little guy connected to AncientTroiamon in some way. Plus, horses are rare in digimon and I don't recall any small horses? No ponies??? What a missed opportunity!

With the toy horse centaur not working, I decided to look more into plant digimon and how they are handled, with good ol' Palmon as the biggest influence. I also learned about the Filipino Werehorse folklore, and while I wouldn't say this digimon is directly based off that (I do not know enough about the culture surrounding that creature to understand if there are any bad connotations in completely basing a digimon after them), it did convince me that an anthro horse with hands could work as a character design... That and Orobas from SMT/Persona. (Though if we're talking horse mythology, they look mostly like an anthro kelpie??? Also man there are a lot of scary horses in folklore, huh?)

So yeah! Now we have Topimon (named after a Topiary).

I supposed if DMFR was still going, I could have a silly plot twist where Tromon was Topimon in disguise the whole time. So I drew a comic depicting that.

Digimon Frontier - Episode 14

Visually, this episode was pretty dull, as you may be able to tell from my lack of exciting screenshots. Plot-wise it was decent though. Junpei's time to shine and we finally got rid of that pesky Grottomon!

Notes:

I'm very bored/disappointed by the digimon designs this season. The villains are kind of interesting, but the heroes are pretty...eh. Borgmon doesn't look different enough from Blitzmon and he doesn't even look very "beast" like. They're both just bug-like mechas. Snore. I feel like the designs have way more of a "boy" appeal than a "girl" appeal since Borgmon is basically a tank. I'm sure that's exciting to someone out there lol.

Every time I see Whamon I just think "why'd they have to make him so nasty looking?" I love whales IRL so it's just a shame that they made him look so gross. (Neemon and Bokomon wondering where his tears were coming from was funny).

IDK what they were going for with Arbormon. He make sense in the dub but in the original Japanese he says a bunch of non sequiturs about doing your chores or something? I'll need to hear more dialogue from him before I can figure this out...I like his beast form (Petaldramon)

It was kind of confusing how Takuya and Koji randomly digivolved when they saw Whamon struggling. Like it seemed like they were getting ready for a fight but Whamon wasn't attacking them. Were they doing it just in case?

They clearly showed Grottomon turning into an egg when they defeated him, so maybe that's been happening to villains this whole time and I just didn't notice?

Junpei got the Earth spirit data...I've said this many times now but, does he get to use that in any way? I wonder what they're going to end up doing with all of these spirits when the world is saved.

We got some Izumi x Junpei developments. I don't feel like I buy their chemistry, but it's a cute ship nonetheless. Better than pairing main boy x main girl like every shounen (they're going to do that anyway, aren't they?)

Reading your post about how Frontier handled the controlling of Beast Spirits, I now wonder how (apart from Arbormon becoming a little hungrier as Petaldramon) Mercury, Grumblemon, and Arbormon had no apparent trouble controlling their Beasts?

This also opens another potential scenario: what if the Spirits of Steel, Wood, and Earth had been bequeathed to Ophanimon, the Spirits of Darkness and Water had been bequeathed to Seraphimon, the Spirits of Flame, Light, Ice, Wind, and Thunder had been bequeathed to Cherubimon, and the protagonists had been Katsuharu, Teppei, Chiaki, Teruo, and Koichi, with Koji joining later? (In case you're curious, I'd have preferred Steel for Katsuharu, Earth for Teppei, Water for Chiaki, and Wood for Teruo.) How do you think controlling of the Beast Spirits would have been handled with those guys, including whatever Warrior resulted from the (potential) tainting of the Light Spirits? And (unless they got the same hosts that they did in canon) how do you think the controlling of Beasts would have been handled with Agunimon, Kumamon, Kazemon, and Beetlemon with no hosts?

Well, keep in mind that Gigasmon also had trouble controlling the Spirit, so the only ones who didn't have trouble were Petaldramon (really doesn't have that many overarching desires besides just vibing) and Sephirotmon (for better or for worse, good at being mentally composed and scheming for a greater purpose), and that kind of tracks compared to the other two who actually have "I like seeing my enemies suffer" inclinations.

Regarding the other questions, I feel this is so far in AU territory that it's hard to answer without other context to fill in details, but I think it wouldn't be too dissimilar to the kinds of things we saw in the main series, just reversed.

17 - Blizzarmon - Blow the Snow, Call the Glaciers! -Arbormon napping at the bottom of the sea. I wonder if his quirk is a reference to some Japanese thing or if the writers just thought this callous monster villain being like "brush your teeth kids!" would be funny. -Everybody's still gliding along on the raft and nearly get themselves… iced hehehehe. -During the looking-for-Toucanmon montage there's a Dukemon casually thrown in there. That's so funny. "omg Dukemon!! One of the Holy Knights!" "Oh no that's my cousin I just stock the shelves in this armoury." -All you need is the power of VIDEO GAMES!! I love Tomoki he's my fave character I think. Him trying to trade his hat and shoes for the Digivices was cute. It's sad when he cries (god that sounds so stupid lol) when Nanomon's fiddling with the Digivice. I mean, that feeling of being a small kid totally out of your depth and trying SO HARD to do something right or useful or stop something bad but it's just not working out no matter what. Poor kid. -CURRY EATING CONTEST!! I love how they actually brought this back around later in the episode. Honestly this entire ep felt really cohesive and well-written. Every time I see an anime curry I want to eat curry though haha. -Blizzarmon is really cool, this is the first time I've seen it (outside of the OP) -Love Koji and Takuya beating Petaldramon with literal sticks and pipes lol. It was also good that they HELPED Tomoki in the fight after getting their Digivices again, but didn't overshadow him or take away his victory. -Good episode. I like it.

18 - Choo-Choo! The Fierce Trailmon Race -Digimon Frontier suddenly becomes Wacky Races lol. Nice seeing all the Trailmon again. -Izumi you literally just ate 30 servings of curry the day before WHY ARE YOU HUNGRY NOW haha. -OMG EBIBURGAMON AAAAAAAAAA My third favourite species after Mummymon and Tokomon. LITTLE BURGER MONSTERS. I literally just finished my first sketches of my Burgamon OCs last night too. Burgers burgers burgas. oh my goshness -This was a super goofy episode (in a good way). Not much to say since the bulk of the events were just race shenanigans and danger, but it was pretty entertaining. -WAIT OMG THE PRIZE IS GOING TO THE HAMBURGER VILLAGE OMG OMG OMG MORE BURGAMON YES YES YES!!

19 - Save the Burgamon! Tomoki's Pure Heart -THE LITTLE BURGER VILLAGE. A shame it's under siege from the get-go. It would've been nice to see all the little burgers being happy… -Chamelemon is here! Another Digimon I've never see outside of the official artwork. -Bruh this episode is just… so good, so funny. The mother Burgamon fainting all the time, the little baby Torikaraballmon. Everybody taking HAMBURGERS so seriously. Peak Digimon tbh. Just a silly fun time. -Okay so Takaya's burgers sound good to me?? What's the issue??? Especially the second one. Kimchi, curry and chorizo? Sounds tasty AF. sounds of copious notes being taken Koji however should never be left alone in a kitchen. -Honestly I can't think of anything to else say I just really liked this episode. It was fun and silly. AND BURGAMON WAS THERE.

20 - The Mysterious Warrior Lurking the Darkness - Duskmon! -Arbormon: I will do whatever I can to be useful to Cherubimon. spends at least several days tormenting a tiny village because he wants burgers -Mercuremon makes the worst mistake a villain can make and LOUDLY MONOLOGUES HIS PLAN OHOHOHOHOHO! …and Duskmon hears, ooo. -Cherubimon's first real appearance. And he can smell Mercuremon's BS a mile away haha. -Trailmon can just decide not to follow tracks. Makes sense since they're autonomous. It probably sounds horrifying to Japanese viewers by my English arse is like "yeah makes sense the train would just. not go where it's supposed to" -Aww, the whole scene with Pipismon and Bokomon being encouraged to be the one to fill in the book's blank pages was nice! -Aaand Arbormon shows up again. We get our first mass simultaneous beast Spirit evolution, but even that can't quite cut it against Petaldramon at first. In the end the kids overcome him and give him the option of surrndering only for Duskmon to show up and destroy him. It was only a matter of time before this happened haha. -Duskmon has a really cool design Just all the eyes all over, looks nice and freaky. -I'm getting close to the halfway point! I'm really interested to see where it's gonna go from here given there's still quite a bit remaining.

21 - The Five Warriors Annihilated!? The Terrifying Power of Darkness! -Well now that's a title. -Unsurprisingly, Duskmon wipes the floor with the kids, so they flee. -Some nice moments and scenes here, especially the one between Izumi and Junpei. -Takuya comes up with an AMAZING PLAN that will DEFINITELY NOT WORK. And Koji is not having it. I really like their relationship. -Duskmon seems to recognise Koji somehow. I actually figured a while ago Duskmon is probably related to Koji somehow, maybe like a lost older brother or something. Y'know. Light and Darkness and all that. Plus Koji has that "secret" or whatever. -THAT ENDING THO. The Darkness Terminal bit and Takuya solemnly gets on the train. That was actually a pretty haunting moment. Really felt like a metaphorical death. I know Digimon gets dark sometimes for a ids show but no way they'd literally kill off a 10 year old like that lol. There was some nice atmosphere and animation this episode.

Back again with digimon ideas. Here's a concept for a digimon game (along with adding the frontier gang into it).

Digimon is an rpg game where people are adventurers and keep the peace in the Digital World. The humans reside in towns and coexist with the digimon. They go on quests and earns bits.

A lot of digimon are scared of these humans as they are sometimes merciless and kill other digimon. Humanoid digimon often battle against them and get eliminated. Many digimon don't even like humanoid digimon because of the humans since they seem to get along better with them.

A hidden quest is to find the ancient digimon spirits and become a Legendary Warrior. There are very few people who can unlock this.

Other hidden quests include are to protect Seraphimon and Ophanimon, defeat Cherubimon, defeat the Royal Knights, and defeat Lucemon.

Based on this video by Karn EX (https://youtu.be/tLMNGFXn2U0), There are currently 4 Legendary Warriors. Katsuharu, Teppei, Chiaki, and Teruo have the ancient digimon of evil. Chiaki can become Ranamon, Teppei can become Mercurymon, Katsuharu can become Arbormon, and Teruo can become Grumblemon.

They have been using their powers for evil and been causing chaos wherever they go. They do what they want and get what they want from the local, innocent digimon. Many people try to avoid these players and not get robbed of all their stuff.

In this game, anyone is able to defeat the Legendary Warriors for any of their digimon spirits but no one has been able to defeat one yet since Spirit Evolving is such a high leveled skill that has no weakness.

Meanwhile, Takuya is new to the game and has been just wandering around. He has been doing quests and been pretty neutral towards the digimon so far. He's been seeing another player too called Kouji and he's pretty interested in him. They often had to team up for bigger bosses.

One day, he defeats a hidden boss and unlocks Agunimon. He gets Bokomon and Neemon as sidekicks. They give him info about other hidden quests and rare items.

He meets up with Zoe, Tommy, and JP later on. The 3 are a party and often are together. JP is a streamer and makes content about the game while Tommy and Zoe are more skilled, often having to help him in a lot of the bosses. Tommy wants to be a game designer and gives a lot of critique about the game while Zoe is a speed-runner who is trying to fully complete everything there is in the game.

He runs into Kouji again and they take on a hidden quest that Takuya was not able to do alone. Takuya has been keeping the fact that he has the skill of Spirit Evolving under wraps since there is a bad reputation about them. He underestimates how difficult the quest was and almost lets their avatars die before Spirit Evolving. After they finish the quest, Kouji gains a digimon spirit.

Idea for X variants of the Spirit Digimon

The Human and Beast Spirits swap aspects. Agunimon X has the Arm swords/flamethrowers and BurningGreymon X has the vent flames Lobomon X has wheels and KendoGarurumon X has the laser swords Kumamon X has an ax and Korikkakumon X has a cannon Kazemon X has enhanced claws and Zephyrmon X has enhanced boots Beetlemon X has a cannon and MetalKabuterimon X has stronger arms Lowemon X has shoulder cannons and JaegerLowemon X has a spear Grumblemon X would have rocky spikes and Gigasmon X would have a hammer Ranamon X would have some tentacles and Calamarimon X would be more humanoid Arbormon X would be more leafy with the tail and Petaldramon X would have the armor Mercurymon X would have the orbs on their limbs and Sephirophmon X would be more humanoid Duskmon X would have wings and Velgrmon X would have the blades

The reason why I waited until you'd finished your broadcast before sending my ask was because I wanted to be sure you knew enough about Frontier to give me a proper assessment. I've heard of a fan theory that the kids we saw in Episodes 40 and 41 were suppose to get the last four Spirits (which, based on how you answered, is a theory you've apparently never heard of). When I was sending my ask, I was thinking more if they'd been the Chosen Ones. If it's not too much trouble for you, I believe we could still try to analyze each episode in this AU, but on a few certain conditions.

All of Arbormon's roles are done by Kumamon.

All of Kazemon's roles are done by Ranamon.

All of Ranamon's roles are done by Kazemon.

All of Beetlemon's roles are done by Grumblemon.

All of Grumblemon's roles are done by Beetlemon.

All of Duskmon's roles are done by whichever Warrior comes from the tainting of the Light Spirits.

Because the Darkness Spirits are not tainted, Duskmon does not exist in this AU (and by extension, neither does Velgemon).

Also it's not like I didn't consider the other kids getting the spirit I just don't like that idea as much as my idea. Three different ideas came to me when you asked me. I just told you my favorite. If you wanted that you should have asked that to begin with but also I would have ignored your question because I didn't feel like answering that one.
