gmmtv 2024 part 2 trailers first impression & ranking :)
from most excited for to least excited:
us: I SCREAMED!!! of course gl ranks number one, let's bffr, but legit this looks so indie & good I love it! sing is gonna be so good at being the abandoned lover hahaha, and the girls have so much chemistry & are so cute!!! I ship it already <3
breakup service: I did NOT expect to get an off as MAIN in a straight romcom again after 4 fucking years, I'm beyond elated!!! the fact that he's paired with a very popular singer also makes me happy! the plot looks really fun & reminds me of catch me baby and midnight motel so I'm all in!!! my man deserves this sm <3
hide & sis: gawin in a role like this??? ATE DOWN!!! but honestly the whole cast is perfect, I can't believe we're gonna get pepper & lookjun playing an on-screen couple! I hope this one is more like ps: I hate you & nothing like the jungle but I'm super excited I love everyone here :)
the ex morning: bruh if you'd have told a kristsingto show would be 4th on this list I would've laughed in your face but... tell me why this plot seems so fucking cute?? I feel like we haven't gotten this type of second chance bl before, and idk if it's nostalgia or what but I'm actually really into it lol
thame po: yooooo this morning I could not picture estwilliam together, but actually I like them a lot already! as a lykn fan I'm happy to see them in a series, and the plot is quite original which is becoming more & more rare so I'm excited!
sweet tooth, good dentist: I still don't know how to fully feel about mark & ohm t, I feel like they look way too similar, but oh well. this looks very sweet (like its title) & y'all know I love dumb romcoms like these so I'll be watching!
leap day: this looks insane & the cast feels random af but it seems interesting! I hope it doesn't end up being one of those shows who thought throwing gun & his insane talent in a show would be enough to cover its bad writing *cough* home school *cough* midnight museum *cough* excited to see pond in an interesting role for once though lmao
the dark dice: this looks like the thai high school squid game to me, it seems interesting & I love that aungpao is in here, but I'll have to see how I feel once the show starts airing to see if I'll watch it or not.
scarlet heart thailand: this teaser told me nothing so I googled the original, ngl it's a slay for tu she looks so pretty, and I do love historical shows so I'll probably be watching! also very happy to see tay, force & phuwin here :)
friendshit forever: I legit thought I was gonna get a mookpat gl bruh lmaoooooo, but nope instead I get girls fighting over a dude ;_; like I get it new is hot af but bruh in 2024 we still have girls having cat fights... I'm good :/ the title is hilarious though :')
ossan's love thailand: this trailer actually made me happy bc contrarily to my initial thought I think earth is ADORABLE as haruta! and the actor they chose to play the ossan??? DAMNNN DADDY 😏 probably still won't be watching since I hate remakes but this looks better than I anticipated!
the heart killers: call me a hater but I did not feel this at all, I feel like it's a more boring mix of not me, only friends & midnight motel and I don't particularly care for either ships so I will not be watching... I'm sure this show will be fine without me though lol
perfect 10 liners: we are but even more boring, they even pulled up aouboom & marcpoon LMAOOO. again all love but I don't care for this at all, it's so basic I can't do this to myself anymore, I'm sorry it's called self-care at this point :')
revamp the undead story: again I don't care for bounprem & THE gmmtv vampire show is my golden blood for me babe, like sorry but jossgawin forever 🫶 (more seriously this doesn't look bad but I simply do not give any fuck to watch this show)

Hello, hullo,
I have just recently got into Lee Junho (thanks to KTL) and 2PM. While I have a general idea I want to do a deep dive starting from their earliest survival shows to debut, to their concerts and variety. And I wanted to keep a journal of my journey.
I will also be honest about my thoughts and feelings.
I had known of 2PM and heard a few of their songs in passing (tho never listened to the full songs to be honest). I had stayed away from 2PM as I thought they were not for me, the stsge outfits, ripping of shirts on stage performances was off-putting - I was never a big fan of hypermasculinity (I had only seen a few scenes here and there at this point).
I was also not a big fan of kpop since the popular tracks I checked out back in the day was not to my liking. But I started to find songs that are more my taste later on, which were more 3rd/4th gen groups. Since I didn't have much fun on my earlier checks I didn't think of diving into older groups.
Oh but of course that changed.
One fine sunday on June I decided to check this new drama everyone was hyping about: King the Land. The 2nd episode had just aired and Ibsaw one of the leads was an actor on my radar: Lee Junho.
I kept hearing about Junho since 2021, all praises how hood of an idol-actor he is and so on. Whenever I see these kind of comments I note the names down to check later. I noted Junho's name down, I kept hearing how hoid he was and how great this historical drama Red Sleeve was. And on top of it he swept all the awards for TRS. Now I was curious, but not being a big fan of historical dramas I waited for his next project.
Yes I could have watched his earlier works but I wasnt feeling like it and had other hyperfixations going on.
So, KTL... I decided to check it out for a few episodes. Since I'm not a big romcom drama fan my prediction was to drop it in 4 to 6 eps in (because of the premise I was expecting a rich asshole abusing the FL in work environment with the drama romanticising it).
The moment I saw Junho acting I was gone, it didn't even take me a minute. Man's micro expressions are crazy. Instantly obsessed. So between KTL episodes I started watching his filmography, 'accidentally' expanding these watchs to his idol works. And 1.5 month later I have watched everthing (about to finish memory, which was the last on my list) have a general idea of 2PM, know their title songs, watched a few stages & squeezed in a concert. I have discovered I love their stages more than the recorded versions. They give so much energy, I wish I could watch them live, at least once...
A few of my favourites of them are: make it, hot, merry go round, Go crazy, I'm your man, adtoy, this is love, kimi ga ireba...
Now as the 15th anniversary concert is approaching I wanted to start my deep dive into 2PM. I have been gathering links to contents and putting them in a chronological order. 15 years is a long time and there are a lot of vids out there. I am scouring different youtube channels and putting the links on my excel - it feels like this is never ending but yay to hyeprfixations (I have over 4K links saved but it's still missing a lot).
As I start to watch everything in order, starting from 2006, I will also share my thoughts here. It will be a looooong journey but it will also be fun one as it lasts.
So, let's go!

Have you seen the GMMTV 2023 trailers? Any you like? I am so ready for ‘only friends’
oh MAN have i see the trailers?? I've seen i'd like to say a good majority of them, although i don't actually know how many there are lmaoo. i've been doing nothing all day except spamming the discord with links and screaming about the upcoming shows. so let me just list out the trailers i've seen, and then i'll just say in a line or so what I think:
Midnight Museum - it's giving Night at the Museum meets Hotel del Luna, and that's all I have to say about it. Not my cup of tea, probably won't watch it, Gun stans go ham
Double Savage - YES. YES. YEEEEEEEEES. Besties Perth and Ohm are in a series together as brothers, and there's the age old conflict of family vs moral civic duty, heart vs mind, and I wouldn't trust anyone else to carry it out. Ohm and Perth are probably some of my favourite actors, and it's such an incredible way for them to flex their acting chops, also knowing they're friends and could trust each other when acting with one another. LETS GOOOOOOO
A Boss and A Babe (BL)- what is this title. What in the wattpad, Office AU, boss-and-secretary-but-Make-It-Gay headass is this. I'm not a ForceBook person anyways, so I will not be watching this cheese cringefest, as long as they're enjoying themselves. it's a no from me dawg
Enigma - this is for all the horror/psychological thriller girlies out there. I won't be watching this bc i'm not good with horror, but i'm excited to see Win in a role unlike any he's played before, full of enigmatic (hehe) charm.
Last Twilight (BL) - It's giving that Me Before You, Bucket List before going blind, fault in our stars energy, honestly I'm pretty ambivalent about it. JimmySea are cute together tho
Wednesday Club - messy messy messy. a group of friends who don't like each other and all full of *secrets* because it's cool to not be a nice person i guess. everyone needs therapy.
Dangerous Romance (BL) - gotta say i'm surprised by this, i have a love-hate relationship with this one. don't like that it's set in highschool, wasn't expecting perth to be in another BL, wasn't actually expecting it to be with chimon despite the rumors. however, Perth is so good at this, he and Chimon are such good friends, I might just give it a shot. As much as I love Perth, Chimon is shining in this one. Hard to go wrong with a classic enemies-to-lovers
Hidden Agenda (BL) - This feels so bloody basic and derivative. Dunk is playing a nerd (except he's hot), Joong is reprising his role from Star and Sky, it's giving reverse 2gether, Podd and Guy are There for some reason??? I really like Joong but give my man some better roles. I'll still watch it tho
The Jungle - GMMTV said 'Diversely Yours' and then gave us a multi-starrer of several toxic men being the actual worst, and a bunch of women looking at them going 'I could fix him', and then gmmtv said 'here you go here's your diversity and representation'. No comment
Cooking Crush (BL) - OffGun Chef + Doctor AU. I can't particularly see a plot here so far, and I feel like offgun's strength lies outside the romcom genre, but that's just me tee hee ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Probably good mindless entertainment for babiis
Beauty Newbie - Remake of My ID is Gangnam Beauty. I don't have anything to say about this
23.5 (GL) - FINALLY gmmtv's first proper GL, and it's with MilkLove (as they deserve!!!) it's giving that soft sapphic pining and love, full of euphemism and metaphor, and i can't wait to see how it turns out. if we can have main BL with a side GL, then we can have a main GL with a side BL, that's equal rights babey
Loneliness Society - Remake of While You Were Sleeping. Again, as with all remakes, I have nothing to say
Our Skyy 2 - PATPRAN!!! PHUTIAN!! ITS THE RETURN OF OUR KINGS!!! (i'm also excited at the implication of Never Let Me Go finally finishing filming soon so that it airs before this one, i've been waiting for it all year esp since it was apparently supposed to air this september) And finally...
Only Friends - The ultimate mess. I made a flow chart just to be able to try and sort out the mess of relationships just in the trailer, and all I can say is I know this show is going to be a wild freaking ride, from start to finish. Neo is the drama, KhaoFirst have the best chemistry in the cast, and this is going to bang. Period
Tumblr media
TLDR I'm most excited for/most likely to watch Double Savage, Our Skyy 2, Dangerous Romance, Only Friends, 23.5, Hidden Agenda
(I know this long ass post isn't what you asked for, but it's what you're getting)
BONUS
Never Let Me Go (Finally airing in 2023 hopefully)
Moonlight Chicken (Finally airing soon, either end 2022 or early 2023)
The Interest (new movie with Bright and Yaya)

gmmtv 2024 part 2 roster, in approximate order of how excited i am about them:
The Heart Killers: YES. soooooo good for me. silly romcom mafia shakespeare plot! dressing everyone up in little outfits! enemies-to-lovers standoff to makeout! love that it's 90s teen movie shakespeare but with more murder. love that this time first and dunk are the ones pursuing khao and joong. delighted p'jojo is directing, he knows exactly what he's doing and he's right for it.
The Ex-Morning: being halfway through watching SOTUS for the first time is an extremely funny time to watch the kristsingto rpf-lite comeback special trailer. it looks good! i love the concept of exes-to-collaborators-to-lovers even before you add in the rpf parallels of it all. p'aof generally does really solid shows and i have no reason to think this won't live up to expectations.
Friendshit Forever: title so stupid it wraps back around into being genius. looks toxic and fun. i will say that if gmmtv wants to yuribait me this hard in the trailer i hope they at least have the decency to yuribait me in the show as well. (real story: when i downloaded the trailers to rewatch i initially ended up with the subtitles from 'Us' playing over the scene where mook and pat meet and for a beautiful moment i lived in a world where there were two gl shows on the 2025 roster.)
Us: the trailer doesn’t give me a great sense for what the actual, uh, plot is. i do appreciate that they found an excuse to have them kiss shirtless in the trailer. the nominal cyrano-esque plot (plus the trite “can two women love one another”) doesn’t feel that interesting but i presume the actual show will have more to it than just that. please i just need a gl that’s well-executed and not about high schoolers (patiently waiting for Pluto….)
Ossan's Love: looks extremely cringe, but….in a charming way? maybe? going to watch regardless because it's earthmix, may go watch the original to get a better idea of what the hell the vibe is supposed to be.
Hide & Sis: feels like it could be campy and fun or could be just bad, but optimistic that it’s the former.
The Dark Dice: okay, so it’s…..jumanji crossed with an escape room crossed with squid game for teenagers? sure i can get behind that. the trailer looked pretty good for being (i assume) relatively low-budget and low-effort.
Revamp: The Undead Story: looks a little silly but very likely in a fun way. (why are there so many vampire shows this year? was there something in the water?)
Thame-Po: okay, so this is a show about a boyband…..where the members are played by gmmtv’s actual boyband? this feels like another instance of rpf lite but less in a fun way and more in a way where i’m a little concerned for these teenagers about fan engagement bleedover. but it did look cute and there are opportunities to go a little meta about the whole thing.
Leap Day: intrigued to watch gun in a role where he actually has things to do
Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist: i think ohm and mark have really fun energy and i badly wanted to like their show, but it looks. SO bad. will watch at least an episode and hope it's better than the trailer made it look but good god.
Break-Up Service: another one that....could be fun or bad, but probably just bad.
Scarlet Heart: was that a trailer or a perfume ad? i guess this is an adaptation and we're supposed to be familiar with the original, slash they didn't have time to film an actual trailer before the event? isekai time travel could be fun in theory but the reverse harem thing does not entice me. pass.
Perfect 10 Liners: you know the bit in Lovely Writer where the show-within-a-show is Bad Engineer, and it's funny because it could literally be any BL that takes place in a university engineering faculty? Lovely Writer is three years old now and we're just still doing this apparently. why are there thirty episodes? did they just decide to toss all the pairs they didn't have a better idea for into the most generic setting possible and cross their fingers? hard pass.

summary: falling for your best friend is never easy. but what is even more difficult is when the guy your best friend is interested in has a crush on you. what starts as a chance meeting in a coffeeshop turns into a complicated game that might just last eternally...
pairing: soobin x beomgyu x reader
genre: romcom, fluff, established relationship
warnings: overthinking, insecurities, lots of kissing, swearing, dead jellyfish (rip), sand (don’t read if you’re anakin skywalker), murder threat (as a joke!), one bed trope, talking about s*x but no actual s*x, cuddling, confession
author’s note: the title is inspired by the weeknd’s how do i make you love me?, as well as txt’s eternally 💜
word count: 2.1k
part one
Around a week after Soobin had agreed to date both you and Beomgyu, you felt closer to them than ever before. Whenever you and Soobin didn't have lectures or Beomgyu wasn't busy at the coffeeshop, you spent every moment together. Things seemed perfect. Perhaps too perfect.
One night, you were sitting on Beomgyu's couch, watching a TV show together. Soobin was sleeping soundly in an armchair nearby. The show was quite interesting but you could tell by Beomgyu's expression that he wasn't focused on the plot at all. He had a devoid look on his face, his usually sparkly eyes now had a blank feel to them. You nudged his shoulder in an attempt to attract his attention. It was of no use. Eventually, you spoke aloud:
"Gyu, what's wrong?"
He didn't reply rightaway, causing you to be even more concerned.
"Are you ignoring me?"
Still, no answer came from Beomgyu's mouth.
"Did I do something to make you mad? Please, talk to me," you wrapped your arms around him in a suffocating hug. Finally, this made him budge, as a small smile appeared on his beautiful lips.
"It's nothing."
"Nuh-uh, young man, you can't lie to me. Whatever it is, I'm sure talking will help."
Beomgyu sighed.
"I was just wondering...you have kissed Soobin already that time at the park and I kissed him three days ago. But...why haven't you kissed me yet?"
"Is that what this is about?" you exclaimed and Beomgyu nodded. "Well, the truth is I'm not really good at telling the difference between platonic feelings and romantic ones. And by not kissing you, I guess I didn't want to accidentally lead you on."
Beomgyu listened with understanding and eventually answered:
"Isn't it too late to think about leading me on? We're already dating."
"Oh. You're right," you felt like an idiot.
"Would you push me away if I kissed you?"
"Of course not."
"Would you kiss me back?"
"I mean...sure."
"But would you kiss me back because it's expected or because you actively want to kiss me?"
"I don't know," you responded. It's not that you didn't want to kiss Beomgyu. You just didn't feel like kissing was the most important thing about a relationship. But you weren't sure how to explain that.
"Then, you have your answer," Beomgyu concluded, his voice tinged with a sense of disappointment. "If you liked me romantically, you wouldn't have hesitated. You would actively want to kiss me."
"I'm not sure that's true," you argued. "Just because I haven't kissed you yet doesn't mean I don't want to be with you. Maybe...I'm just a bit confused about all this because I'm afraid of messing things up."
"I'm even more confused. Do you want to kiss me or not?"
Fuck it. You crashed your lips against his without thinking too much about the reasons behind it. And when Beomgyu embraced you tightly with his strong arms, you were surprised to find out how good it felt. When he kissed you back, all the stars collided and you felt a bit foolish for postponing it for so long. Beomgyu ran his fingers through your hair, pressing his cold hands against your cheek. Once you broke the kiss, his forehead touched against yours gently.
"Was that so bad?" he teased.
"Terribly so," you lied, giggling. "Let's do it again sometime."
"I would be honoured."
Tumblr media
"I kissed Beomgyu last night," you informed Soobin the following morning after he'd left for work.
"You hadn't kissed before?" Soobin was surprised.
"I mean...it just happened like that," you replied vaguely.
"Aw, gotta admit, I'm kind of bummed out I slept through your first kiss with him."
"Creep," you joked, poking Soobin's dimples.
"It's a revolutionary event, after all," he kept messing around.
"Quit it."
"So, how was it?" Soobin inquired.
"Ew, I'm not discussing my kiss with my boyfriend with...my other boyfriend," you pretended to cringe.
"Hey, I may be your boyfriend but I'm still your best friend. And as your best friend, I demand you give me all the tea."
"I mean, it was quite lovely. What else do you want me to say?" you shrugged.
"Am I a better kisser?" Soobin, competitive as always, just had to ask.
"I'm not telling you that," you smirked.
"Whaaat? No way Beomgyu's better."
"Ugh, drop it already," you rolled your eyes. "You're both excellent kissers. Are you happy now?"
Soobin shook his head.
"Can I kiss you again? Might change your mind?"
You chuckled, amused by his desire to win everything, but let him kiss you anyway. This time, you were more relaxed than the kiss at the park and allowed yourself to melt into the feeling. Soobin's hugs were comfort-shaped and you couldn't wish for anything more in life. Being caressed so tenderly by him...you wished you could make it last eternally.
"Ten out of ten, am I right?" Soobin winked confidently after the kiss was over.
"Minus points for that comment alone," you threatened in a humorous way.
"So strict," he sighed. "All jokes aside, I'm really glad we're doing this relationship thing. The three of us, together. I've never been more content."
"Same here," you admitted. "Being with you guys is the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Tumblr media
About two months after you, Soobin and Beomgyu got into a relationship, Beomgyu suggested that you all travel to the beach for the weekend. The weather was getting warm enough to visit it and maybe even have a quick swim. Once you arrived at the seaside, the three of you excitedly ran towards the water.
"Woah, it's so beautiful," you exclaimed.
"Not as beautiful as you," Soobin answered.
"Laaaame," you complained but gave your boyfriend a thankful kiss on the cheek, nonetheless.
"Let's go inside already!" Beomgyu suggested and dived into the sea. "Brrr, it's kinda cold."
"Then I'm not going inside," you shuddered at the thought of freezing.
"Come on, it'd be so much fun if we're all together," Beomgyu insisted.
"Not a chance," you kept refusing.
"Bold of you to assume you have a choice," Soobin replied and before you could argue, he grabbed you, lifting you on his shoulder and despite your protests and screams, seconds later you were inside the cold water.
"I hate you so much," you complained but after a couple of moments, you were surprised to find out it wasn't that bad.
In fact, the more the three of you played around and teased one another, the warmer it gradually got. However, at one point you decided it's best to spend some time on the beach, as well. After all, it wouldn't be much of a vacation if you got a cold on the first day. Unfortunately, Beomgyu was holding an unexpected surprise in his hand when the three of you got out of the water.
"Look, it's a jellyfish!" he grinned excitedly.
"My God, get it away from me!" you cried out as he kept waving the poor animal in your face.
Seeing your shock, Beomgyu decided that chasing you across the beach was a most splendid idea. You kept running in a desperate attempt to escape the jellyfish and Beomgyu but at one point, your legs gave out and you tripped. Beomgyu dropped the wretched animal and pressing you against the sand, whispered:
"You're my starfish."
"Aww, that's kind of weird but also sweet," you chuckled.
Beomgyu grabbed your wrists and covered your face with lots of kisses.
"Stahpp."
"Never."
Soon enough, Soobin found you like this and joined the party. The three of you rolled around in the sand joyfully but a couple of minutes later, Soobin got bored and he suggested a new form of entertainment:
"Let's bury Beomgyu in the sand and give him fake boobs!"
"No way," Beomgyu started running.
However, since you joined forces with Soobin, Beomgyu was quickly captured and overpowered, so eventually, he had no choice but to put up with Soobin's fun idea.
"Once I'm out of this sand prison, I will kill you both," he vowed.
"Nah, you won't," you stuck out your tongue at him. "You're too fond of us."
"I absolutely despise that you're right," he rolled his eyes.
When Beomgyu was free from the sand, the first thing he wanted to do was have a swim in order to clean up. You and Soobin made the mistake of following him. Needless to say, he accomplished his revenge by pulling you under the water a bunch of times. A lot of salty water was accidentally swallowed and your ears kept filling with the unwelcome liquid that you later managed to get rid of, but it was all fine in the end because you were having the best time of your life with these two.
In the late afternoon, the three of you got tired from all the playing, swimming and messing around at the seaside so you decided it was best to find a place to sleep at before it got dark. You checked a couple of hotels but they were all full of people. Finally, you found a small motel but the lady at the reception informed you that they only had one room available. With one bed.
"You expect three people to fit in the same bed?" it was rare that you saw Soobin so frustrated.
You grabbed his arm, trying to calm him down.
"Drop it, Soob," you murmured. "The mere fact that they're willing to take us in without a reservation is quite generous of them. It's fine."
"Are you sure you're okay with that?" Beomgyu asked, visibly concerned.
"We're together, aren't we?" you reminded them.
The lady at the reception gave you a weird look, but she didn't dare say anything. Instead, she just handed you the key and gave you directions for the room you were about to share.
Once you were inside, Beomgyu blurted out:
"Sorry, guys, it's all my fault for not making a reservation earlier when I suggested this trip."
He looked a bit guilty but you didn't think it was such a big deal, so you attempted to comfort him.
"It's okay, Gyu. We all agreed to this pretty spontaneously, don't be so hard on yourself. Besides, at least this way we'll be more prepared next time, right?"
"More prepared?" Soobin wanted to know what you meant by that.
"Not that I don't want to sleep in the same bed as you two," you began explaining. "It's just that...I'm not ready for sex yet, sorry."
"Wait, did you really think I invited you on a trip for that?!" Beomgyu sighed. "I just wanted to spend some time with my two favourite people in the whole world. Away from our everyday responsibilities."
"Oh, I know, I just...felt like I should inform you...not to have any expectations," you mumbled.
"Hey, it's okay. It doesn't make a difference to me, don't overthink it," Soobin reassured you.
"Whether you're ready tomorrow or in a couple of weeks or in a year, it doesn't change how I feel about you. We're together because you're cute and smart and funny."
"Seconded," Soobin added. "You're my best friend first and foremost and the last thing I want to do would be to rush you into anything."
"What if...what if I'm never ready?" you admitted something that had been troubling you for a long time. "What if I never want to have sex?"
"Then, I'll accept that," Soobin said. "You're perfect just the way you are."
"I agree with Soobin. That doesn't matter to me. We just want to be with you."
"Thank you, guys," you sniffed. "I am beyond relieved that you're so understanding."
"Is our precious cupcake crying?" Beomgyu pinched your cheeks, trying to cheer you up. "Well, we can't have that now, can we?"
You chuckled lightly.
"Let's go to bed and cuddle the sadness away!" Soobin suggested.
"I'm not sad," you tried to explain. "Just...touched. But I'm still on board for the cuddles."
The three of you quickly covered yourselves with the blankets, hugging each other happily. Just as you were beginning to doze off, your sleepy state was interrupted by your loud boyfriends.
"Stop hogging all the blankets!" Soobin groaned.
"They're all mine. Everything in here is mine. Soobin, Y/N and the blankets," Beomgyu responded cheerfully.
"Y/N, helppp! We're dating a blanket hoarder!!!" Soobin complained.
"Leave me out of this," you giggled.
"I won't give you a blanket but you can warm yourself into my arms, Soob. Deal?" Beomgyu offered generously
"Ugh, whatever," Soobin hissed but you could feel him shifting closer to Beomgyu. You wrapped your arms around Soobin's back as he buried his head into Beomgyu's chest.
A couple of minutes later, you had something on your mind you felt like sharing. The timing just felt...right.
You wondered if they had already fallen asleep, so you decided to check by whispering gently:
"Um, guys?"
"Yes?" you heard Soobin and Beomgyu's voices in unison.
"I think I love you," you said quietly.
"You think?" Beomgyu teased in a sarcastic manner.
"No. I know I love you."

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY: t.oikawa
Years of running into one another. Things always seemed to be getting in the way but for Torū Oikawa, he knew this was his only chance to prove himself. Running into a New Year's Eve Party, spotting them there, he knew this was his last try.
Y/N fumed, smoke could have been billowing out of their ears at this point. What right does he have being here?
"Y/N I have been doing a lot of thinking and the thing is, I'm in love with you"
"What?"
"I love you" he repeated, sweat gathering on his hands.
"How do you expect me to respond to that?" Y/N asked stunned, He really has the nerve?
"How about you love me too," he stated matter of factly
As Torū attempted to get closer to them, Y/N gathered their things, turned to him, and said,
"How about I'm leaving?"
Shocked, he followed them towards the door, "Doesn't what I said mean anything to you?!"
"I'm sorry Torū, I know it's New Year's Eve, I know you're lonely, but you can't just show up here, tell me you love me, and expect that to make everything okay. It doesn't work this way." Y/N said turning into the crowd, tears welling in their eyes.
He ran a frantic hand through his hair, frustrated "Well, how does it work?!"
"I don't know but not this way," Y/N shouted over the cheers that reigned in the new year.
"Well, how about this way?" Torū paused, "I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich! I love that you get this little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes, and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night."
He continued, "And it's not cause I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
Torū's heart was practically in his feet. The blood throughout his entire body felt like it was rushing to his face and temples. Dizzy, he felt dizzy. In love, in hate, in frustration, all of it,
"You see-" Y/N began, their voice sounding watery, "That is just like you Torū! You say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you!"
A smirk crept its way onto Oikawa's lip as he watched them ramble on, "I hate you Torū, I really hate you" Y/N's voice began to crack.
Pulled together almost instantaneously, their lips touched. Fire and passion, hatred and love, tieing them together. Maybe for the first time in years, love could be something good. The first time the pair had met, they hated each other, then they forgot one another. The 3rd time they had met they became friends.
And the next time? They fell in love.
Pretty good ending right?
50 FIRST DATES: t.kuroo
Waking up in a start a sense of urgency coursed through their blood. Y/N expected to wake up in their own bed. It was their Father's birthday today and yet, Y/N was out at sea.
Now that was no exaggeration, they turned to look out a circular window, seeing a seemingly endless amount of crystal water and huge ice glaciers. They wanted to scream but as they turned they found a VHS tape with the title, "Good morning Y/N" on it. Who honestly uses a VHS anymore Y/N may never know. Cautiously they picked it up and put it into the VHS player in front of them. Sitting back they were confronted with their favorite song playing in the background.
Clips flashed to show a news article, detailing a wreck that had occurred a few years ago. A stray animal had jumped into the road, causing Y/N to have apparently swerved their car into a tree. This accident caused Y/N to have a loss of every memory that would happen during or after the accident.
Tears welled into their eyes as they kept watching. Y/N couldn't have ever imagined this occurring to them. The screen changed to one of their friends back home, smiling and laughing. Suddenly a Rooster headed man, a large smile on his face appeared and shared a kiss with Y/N on the video. Y/N couldn't truly wrap their head around it but it made their heart skip a beat when they looked into this man's eyes.
"Will you Kuroo Tetsuro take Y/N to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, from this day forth, for as long as you both shall live?" Looking up a startled Y/N ran a hand across their face, the glint of a ring sitting on their finger confirming what they had seen on the T.V.
"I do," Kuroo smiled lovingly, the officiant making jokes about his own marriage to this distaste of his wife who was in the seats at the ceremony. Y/N laughed slightly at that, a sense of familiarity blossoming in their chest.
Y/N and Kuroo shared a kiss making the marriage official.
As Y/N looked around she heard Kuroo's voice from the T.V. "It's very cold outside so when you're ready put on a jacket and come have breakfast with me. Love ya"
Tightly wrapping a coat around themselves, Y/N walked up the rocking steps of the boat to the upper deck.
"Hey! Good morning Mx. Kuroo. Would you like to meet your daughter?" He said softly, learning a long time ago that being too energetic would scare Y/N in the morning. Y/N smiled and nodded softly.
"Go say hello to Nopa," Kuroo encouraged as a sweet little girl came up to Y/N. She has similar features to Y/N but her hair was just like her father's.
"Hi Nopa." Y/N scooped her up in their arms, Kuroo leaned over pressing a kiss to Y/N's lips. Teary eyes all Y/N could say was "Oh my goodness" and laugh softly.
"Grandpa is here," Kuroo said, and Y/N waved to their father smiling.
Dreams really do come true.

i get so lost inside your eyes || h. styles
warnings: mentions of a break up, swearing, kissing, mentions of alcohol
word count: 1.5k
summary: you and harry are alone on valentine’s day, so decide to spend it together...
Tumblr media
“I brought wine!” Harry smiled, showing you the bottle he’d bought on the way to your home.
“My hero,” you joked, opening your front door wider to let Harry in.
“And I got you flowers,” he shrugged, his cheeks coated in a light tinge of red.
You smiled, “Why did you do that?”
“Just felt like it. You deserve them anyway,” he sighed, passing them to you.
“Well, thank you, Harry,” you grinned.
You took the wine and flowers from him, taking them through to the kitchen. He shrugged his coat off and head through to the living room. It was dark outside, the sun having set two or three hours prior to Harry’s arrival.
You’d know Harry for a long time. Nearly seven years. And you’d been good friends for that time, enjoying one another’s company perhaps too much. He’d been there for you when it felt like nobody else was. Harry had seen some of your ugliest moments and his adoration for you had never faltered.
Due to you both being single, you’d made the mutual decision to spend Valentine’s Day together. Spending the evening together, binging cheesy romcoms and crying over fictional characters’ love lives, sounded like the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day to you. And evidently to Harry too, for he was, sat on your couch, flicking through Netflix.
You placed the two wine glasses down on your coffee table, pouring the bottle out between them. You sat in silence as the title sequence of Harry’s selected movie rolled, taking occasional sips of the wine. “How’s Valentine’s Day being single then?” he asked suddenly. “You know, since you and Peter broke up.”
“Thanks for reminding me of that,” you joked. “Just what I wanted to hear today.”
His eyes widening, realising how rude his question was, “Oh, Y/N, I’m-“
You chuckled, “Harry, it’s fine. I was kidding.”
“Oh, right,” he laughed. “Obviously. Are you looking for anyone right now?”
Your throat suddenly became very dry. You were in the midst of trying to suppress your feelings for Harry before looking for anything serious with somebody else. After you and Peter had broken up, you had assigned yourself a ‘no guys’ rule, in which you’d stay away from dating altogether for at least six months.
But then you began to see Harry under a different lens. You’d always found him attractive and you were never to deny the fact that Harry was good-looking, even before you first met him. But you’d never seen him under a romantic light. And then you began to, and it made hanging out with him feel completely different. You were hyper-aware of everything he did and you picked up on the small things he did. It became exhausting.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you forced a shrug, “Not really. No point forcing something with somebody when I’m not in any rush to be in a relationship.”
“Oh… fair enough,” he nodded, his eyebrows knitted together slightly. “Yeah, why force it?”
He prayed you hadn’t picked up on his slight shift in mood. The awkwardness and the slightly disheartened tone. But you had. You weren’t going to mention it though; it would be mean to put him on the spot like that. So, instead, the two of you stayed silent as you watched the movie.
About an hour and a half later, the credits rolled. You yawned, stretching your legs slightly, they were dead from the position you’d had them in for the duration of the movie. “I’ve got ice cream, come and tell me about yourself,” you said, getting up to fetch the tub of vanilla ice cream from the freezer.
He followed, beginning to talk about how the band were and how writing was going. You nodded along, genuinely interested in how his music career was going, as you fished out some spoons. The pair of you sat down at the kitchen island, sharing the tub of ice cream as he told you about the many love songs he was writing. He’d tell you about a date he went on, which inspired this song, and a crush he had, which inspired that song. And, though hard for you to listen to, you still nodded along eagerly, wishing he wouldn’t notice the frown that was playing on your lips. “How’s Gemma?” you asked, hoping you didn’t seem desperate to change the topic of conversation.
He shrugged, “She’s good. She was actually asking how you were today, I was on the phone with her.”
“Oh,” you smiled. You adored Gemma. “That’s kind of her. Tell her that her podcast has been keeping me sane.”
“She’ll be glad to hear that,” he chuckled. “Have you still got that piano?”
It was a random question and it took you by surprise slightly. It was so off-topic. You nodded. He smiled, “Can I teach you one of my songs?”
You grinned, “If you’d like.”
Playing the piano was something your parents had forced you to do when you were a child. And, it wasn’t that you didn’t enjoy it, you certainly did now that you were an adult, but it was never something you were necessarily passionate about. Not like Harry was about music anyway. It was more of a hobby for whenever you could make time to play now.
You followed him through to the dining room, deciding the empty tub of ice cream could wait until later to clear away. He sat himself down on the stool, patting the space beside him. “Come on, Y/N,” he laughed at your hesitancy.
Sitting down beside him, you felt your cheeks suddenly heat up. Your thigh was pressed against his, your arms grazing slightly. And you realised, as he was playing one of his songs, his eyes flicking between the keys and you, how intimate this really was. You felt like you were in school again, getting incredibly too nervous whenever you were partnered up with whoever you were crushing in at the time. “See, it’s just like this,” he said, playing it slower.
You nodded, “Kudos to Charlotte for remembering all of this.”
“I remember it too!” he said, acting as if the compliment you’d just offered Charlotte was the most offensive thing anybody had ever said to him.
You stifled a laugh, “Yeah, but you don’t play it in front of thousands of people. God, you’re such a drama queen.”
He shrugged, “What can I say? That’s showbiz, baby.”
You felt ready to pass out. He’d just called you ‘baby’, and though you knew it was part of the saying, it still felt weird to have him direct the name at you. You laughed anyway, trying to act as normal as possible. “If you say so,” you smiled.
“Right, now you try,” he said, taking your hand and placing it on the keys.
“Harry, it’ll sound terrible,” you sighed.
“Just give it a go,” he smiled supportively at you, staring into your eyes. “You’re great at everything anyway.”
You scoffed, “Well, that’s just a blatant lie. Play it again. I’ve only seen you do it once.”
He nodded, repeating what he’d played before. You took note of the notes, lodging them into your brain somewhere. Besides, it was only the intro of the song. And so, you gave it a shot and it sounded somewhat decent. That was until you noticed Harry staring at you out of the corner of your eye. This completely ruined your concentration and you managed to absolutely butcher the beforehand beautiful tune. “Shit, sorry,” you said quickly.
“Don’t apologise, you’ve got nothing to be sorry for,” he said softly. “It was great for a first attempt.”
You turned to look at him, only then noticing how dangerously close your faces were. It was a tight squeeze on the piano stool as it was, but now it was forcing your faces inches apart. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered.
You expected him to suddenly recoil, realising what he’d just said and apologise. But he didn’t. He sat silently as if waiting for you to say something back. “Can I kiss you?” he asked before you had the chance to return the compliment or thank him for it.
You nodded, “Please.”
And he did. And it was wonderful. Better than anything you’d dreamt up inside your head. His hand on your cheek, the other on your thigh, you felt safe with Harry. This kiss with Harry felt more natural than anything else you’d shared with previous partners. As he pulled away, he grinned, eyes fluttering up and down your face. “Sorry,” he said quietly as if he was second-guessing the perfect moment of intimacy you’d just shared.
“Don’t apologise, you’ve got nothing to be sorry for,” you repeated his earlier words, earning yourself a grin from Harry and another peck on the lips.
He smirked slightly, “Do you want to maybe end Valentine’s Day with a boyfriend?”
“Is that an offer, Harry?” you grinned.
“Perhaps it is, yes.”
“Then I might just take you up on it.”

Dylan O'Brien - NME Magazine Interview
Tumblr media
Dylan O’Brien: “I was in this transitional phase – close to a quarter-life crisis”
From YA heartthrob to legitimate leading man – how the 'Maze Runner' star hit his stride after a whirlwind decade
Definitely!” hoots Dylan O’Brien when NME asks if he still has to audition. “I’m not Tom fucking Hanks, bro.” He’s clearly amused by our question, but forgive us for thinking the 29-year-old actor gets cast on reputation alone. A decade into his career, and he’s making an impressive transition from teen TV star and YA franchise hero to charismatic leading man.
New York-born O’Brien cut his teeth on MTV’s hit Teen Wolf series, before landing the lead in the Maze Runner film trilogy based on James Dashner’s hugely popular novels. Leading a band of bright young things that included ex-Skins tearaway Kaya Scodelario, Game Of Thrones’ Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Will Poulter, he honed his craft while racking up nearly a billion dollars at the box office. “My career is a constant acting class,” says O’Brien. “To be able to do the Maze Runner movies simultaneously with Teen Wolf was amazing in terms of getting in reps and working my [acting] muscle.”
Tumblr media
Now for the sometimes tricky bit. Many actors struggle with the post-breakout period, but O’Brien is making it look easy so far. This year’s Netflix hit Love and Monsters proved he can carry an old-school family adventure, and new film Flashback (out next week) reveals an appetite for weirder, more cerebral work. He stars as Fred Fitzell, a young man reluctant to buckle down to life as a nine-to-fiver with a boring corporate job and a long-term girlfriend (Mindhunter‘s Hannah Gross). When he runs into a freaky-looking acquaintance from his teenage years, Fred becomes obsessed with finding an old high-school friend he used to drop a mind-bending experimental drug called Mercury with. It’s difficult to say any more without entering spoiler territory, but Flashback is a wild ride underpinned by the idea that we can exist in several realities at once. Even if you follow every plot twist, you might not fully understand the end. “Oh, it’s definitely a headfuck,” O’Brien agrees. “There’s not totally an answer to figure out. There’s a lot of different things that people can take from it.”
Speaking over Zoom from his LA home, O’Brien is bright, thoughtful and really good fun to talk to, especially when he relaxes into the interview, but he clearly knows where his line between public and private lies. When he first read the Flashback script, written by the film’s director Christopher MacBride, his “mind was blown” by just how much he related to Fred. “I felt like I was in this transitional phase of my life that was, you know, sort of close to a quarter-life crisis type thing,” he says. “For whatever reason, it was like me and this script were meant to be. I remember reading it and thinking: ‘I am this guy right now.'”
“There were a lot of things in my personal life that were neglected for a while”
When we ask why O’Brien felt as though he had reached a “transitional phase”, he gives an answer that’s vague but not exactly evasive. For understandable reasons, he doesn’t mention the incredibly traumatic motorcycle accident he sustained while shooting the final Maze Runner film in March 2016. O’Brien suffered severe trauma to the brain and said in 2017 that he underwent extensive facial reconstructive surgery after the accident “broke most of the right side of my face”. Tellingly, he’s never really revealed what happened on set or how it affected him.
Today, O’Brien dances around the details of the accident and other issues he was dealing with at the time, but doesn’t shy away from discussing his inner conflict. “You know, it was a lot of personal things combined with at-a-point-in-my-career things,” he says after a brief pause. He says he’d have been going through some of this stuff anyway, simply because of his age, but it sounds as though success intensified it all. “It was like this whole fucking storm of shit,” he continues. “I was simultaneously so fulfilled and happy about these, like, otherworldly and surreal things that I had experienced in terms of where my career had brought me. I had all this confidence and fulfilment and beautiful people [in my life] – such amazing things to experience at a young age. But at the same time, there were a lot of things in my personal life that were unchecked and sort of neglected for a while.”
Tumblr media
O’Brien says that in time, he realised he had to “stop for a second” and “re-explore how I wanted my life to look going forward”. In fairness, you can see why he needed a breather: his career took off while he was still a teenager. After his family moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles County when he was 12, O’Brien contemplated a career as a sports broadcaster – his Twitter bio still bills him as a “no longer suffering Mets fan” – then began posting YouTube videos as moviekidd826. A funny, slickly edited skit titled ‘How to Prepare for the SAT in 45 seconds’, shared when he was just 17, shows he was a born performer and storyteller. YouTube success led to him getting a manager, but his breakthrough role in Teen Wolf still came out of the blue. At the time, he was treading water at a local community college and taking auditions on the side.
Still, he has since taken a rather fatalistic view of this career-making moment. “It’s totally weird because, when I think about it now, I don’t see how it could have happened any other way. I can’t picture myself doing anything else now,” he told Collider in 2011. “It was really sudden and a little random, and not provoked by anything. It was just out of nowhere. It wasn’t my intentional doing.” Today, O’Brien summarises his skyscraper career trajectory succinctly. “I guess I just graduated high school and started acting,” he says. “And then I felt like I was just flying by the seat of my pants and never got a chance to stop.” Thankfully, straight-out-the-blocks Hollywood success hasn’t taken away his sense of perspective. When I say how easy social media makes it to compare yourself unfavourably to others, O’Brien jumps in: “Yeah, that’s very true. I was watching the Billie Eilish doc the other day, and I was like, I’ve done nothing. I’m not an artist at all!”
“No one thought ‘Love and Monsters’ was going to be good!”
O’Brien is also self-deprecating when he talks about being cast in Flashback, suggesting it happened because he had such an intense connection with Fred. “I was honestly like, ‘Who is watching me right now?’ That is the best way I can describe how I was feeling when I came across this script,” he says. “Chris [MacBride, director] and I had this conversation that went so well in terms of [my] understanding this script that I think he’d sent around a lot and [that] very commonly wasn’t understood. I think Chris has even said that the night before shooting, he suddenly had this thought, like, ‘Wait, do I even think he’s a good actor?'”
Though O’Brien has firmly ring-fenced elements of his private life, he’s actually pretty frank about his acting vehicles. He readily admits he was expecting a snobbish response to Love and Monsters, a CGI-heavy hybrid of post-apocalyptic action and romcom that dropped on Netflix in April and topped the streamer’s daily most-watched list. “It means so much that Love and Monsters has gotten the response that it’s gotten,” O’Brien says. “No one thought this movie was going to be good.” His blunt honesty makes me laugh out loud. “No one did though!” he says in response. “And so, fuck that. You know, most of the people who say something to me about the movie, they’re like: ‘I watched Love and Monsters, and it was… good?’ And honestly, that just cracks me up.” For obvious reasons, we hastily decide not to share our response to the film – namely, that it was a whole lot better than expected.
Tumblr media
In Love and Monsters, O’Brien plays Joel, a survivor of a so-called “monsterpocalypse” that has bumped humans to the bottom of the food chain. Though he’s known in his colony as a bit of a coward, Joel sets off on a treacherous 80-mile journey to find his high school sweetheart Aimee (Iron Fist‘s Jessica Henwick), which means evading the hungry clutches of various supersize grizzlies including a giant monster-frog hiding in a suburban pond. It’s a simple but pretty out-there premise that wouldn’t work if O’Brien’s performance was even slightly condescending. Instead, his unselfconscious sincerity really sells a film that has as much in common with the family-oriented Robin Williams movie Night at the Museum as darker fare like The Walking Dead.
His obvious affection for the project really comes across during our interview today. “When I read the script, I just thought it was so sweet and funny and smart and unique, but at the same time reminiscent of all these movies that don’t really get made any more,” he says. That’s a fair point: Love and Monsters is neither a fail-safe superhero movie nor a slice of classy Oscar bait. “And when they were talking about how to market this movie, it was so funny hearing all these conversations like, ‘How do we actually get people to watch it?'” he adds. “But that’s a big part of the reason I wanted to do this movie: because it felt like something I missed seeing.”
“I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who want to make something out of love”
So in a way, Love and Monsters was a risk for an actor seeking to establish himself outside of a bankable movie franchise and a hit TV show. O’Brien has only made four films since his final Maze Runner outing in 2018, and insists he hasn’t been tactical with his choices. “I don’t have anyone saying, ‘We need to get you in an Oscar vehicle’, or any of that kind of shit,” he says. “I’m really lucky to be surrounded by people who think like me: that you should do what you’re drawn to, and make something out of love.”
He’s recently finished shooting a mysterious crime thriller called The Outfit in London with Mark Rylance. Directed and co-written by Graham Moore, who won an Oscar for his screenplay to Alan Turing biopic The Imitation Game, O’Brien calls it “quite possibly one of the most special pieces of writing I’ve ever experienced”. He first read the script on a plane and says he “actually stood up and clapped” when he got to the end. Considering O’Brien probably wasn’t flying Ryanair, this reaction presumably attracted a few baffled glances.
Tumblr media
Anyway, it must be pretty intimidating walking onto set with Rylance, a multi-award-winning actor revered by his peers – Al Pacino once said he “speaks Shakespeare as if it was written for him the night before” – but it sounds as though O’Brien took it all in stride. He says he’s confident in his abilities, but admits to having a slight wobble whenever he begins a new project. “I’m always sort of re-questioning everything – like, ‘Can I even act?'” he says. “But I think there’s something very natural about that. I think even Rylance could relate to that feeling. Acting is like starting a new year at school every single time.”
At this point in his career, O’Brien has made peace with the fact that some people will have preconceptions about him based on what he’s known for: Maze Runner and Teen Wolf. “People will put you in a box no matter what,” he says. “There was definitely a time when that would get to me, especially when it felt like somebody had a perspective on me that in my soul, I just felt wasn’t accurate.” Still, there’s no doubt he wants to show us what’s really in his soul with more films like Flashback. “If anything,” he adds bullishly, “it just makes me think: ‘Right, I’m really gonna show them now’.”
‘Flashback’ is out on digital platforms from June 4

Title: First Dates
Pairing: Opposite (Zane/Kai)
Words: 1133
Warnings: None!! just some generic fluff
“I’m not going to lie,” Zane said with a laugh, “But that was the best date I’ve ever been on.” Kai- smiled, his fingers brush against Zane’s. He moved his own hand so it was closer, and when the nindroid made no objection to their hands fully touching, he took his hand. Zane smiled at Kai and didn’t move his hand, letting their arms swing slightly as they walked down the quiet streets of early evening Ninjago, the lights from skyscrapers and the slowly awakening nightlife painted purple and blue and green highlights over everything. Even Zane.
“I’m glad you thought so!” kai said lightheartedly with a laugh, “The waiter was a total fanboy, it was so embarrassing!”
“Maybe, but if he hadn't made you uncomfortable, we wouldn’t have gone to the hole in the wall pizza joint. I haven’t had pizza that good in… well ever,” Zane replied with a smile, looking at Kai, his eyes brushing over his sharp features, unable to think about anything other than how beautiful he looked. The streetlamps dim orange glow danced across his cheekbones as he walked while the light blues and yellows from the neon-lit shop windows blending together on his nose and lips, creating a beautiful green with a blue and yellow outline.
“In fairness, the pizza was really good. We need to tell the guys about that later,” Kai looked away slightly and took a nervous breath, “And… if it made you happy and you enjoyed it, that’s all I could ask for,” He said softly, looking up at Zane with a small smile, his cheeks blossoming a beautiful crimson. Zane smiled, feeling a little steam begin to come out of his ears. Kai had that effect on him. That little, lopsided smile, the freckles he tried so hard to cover and his deep brown eyes that were peppered with streaks of blue.
“Sorry,” Zane said, even more, embarrassed as the steam continued to come out of his ears, “My systems seem to be overheating,” He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. Kai smiled even wider, his teeth being immediately covered in yellow, green and blue neon lights.
“Don’t worry about it, honestly I think it’s cute when you get all flustered like this,” Kai said with a giggle, stopping walking so he could properly look into Zane’s eyes. They were so light and shining, almost unnerving. Kai didn’t find them unnerving. He loved Zane’s eyes. They were so beautifully might and airy, they almost dragged every worry off his shoulders. When he looked into those eyes, he knew everything would be ok. Zane’s eyes brought security, usually because if his eyes were there, the rest of him would be there too, holding his hand and keeping him grounded.
“You watch too many romcom’s,” Zane said with a laugh, moving himself a little closer to his boyfriend.
“Why? Is this going down that route? Because if it is, I can’t say I’d be complaining,” He replied flirtily, smirking mischievously.
“Will you just shut up and kiss me, hothead,” Zane whispered, their faces getting closer by the second.
“With pleasure frosty,” Kai murmured, pressing his lips to Zane’s softly, resting his hand delicately on the back of his neck. Zane’s hands drifted down Kai’s back, coming to rest on his hips, holding hard enough to ensure he’d never let go or leave him again. Not even death would do them part, and Zane was sure of that. He would make sure of that. He’d shift heaven and hell if it meant Kai would be happy, and he’d make sure to show him that every day for the rest of his life.
Suddenly, cool droplets fell from the sky, splattering them both.
“Are you being for real,” Kai said, pulling away but not letting go of Zane, looking at the sky in annoyance. Zane let out a small laugh, looking at Kai with his eyebrows raised.
“Did you not check the forecast? It said it was going to rain,” Zane laughed, looking at Kai with raised eyebrows.
“... Maybe,” Kai said, wincing slightly as the rain began getting heavier, flattening his perfectly styled hair.
“Right just… I think I’ve seen situations like this in those romcoms you’re obsessed with. Watch and learn, loverboy,” Zane said smugly, pulling off his jacket and holding it above both of their heads like a makeshift umbrella, smiling down at Kai.
“I’m not obsessed!” Kai said indignantly, crossing his arms and looking away in fake anger.
“Hmm. Whatever you say,” Zane said with a laugh, rolling his eyes playfully.
“Wait did you call me loverboy,” Kai stopped abruptly, only just processing what Zane had said.
“Maybe. Is that ok?” Zane said worriedly, stopping next to him, scared he said something wrong.
“Of- of course, it is! I just… didn’t expect it. I… kinda liked it,’ Kai said softly, his face turning a deep red.
“Cool. Good. I’m glad,” Zane said awkwardly, not completely sure how to respond, continuing to walk, “I can call it you more if you’d like?”
“Yeah. Please,” Kai closed his eyes in embarrassment, “Not my best response, but anyway.” Zane laughed, making Kai smile. He loved Zane’s laugh. It was so light and airy, it just made him want to laugh and smile too.
“I hope it doesn’t rain for too much longer, my arms are getting tired,” Zane said lightheartedly, shifting his harms slightly trying to gain a little more blood flow to them.
“Just put your jacket on properly, It’s my fault for not bringing my own. I’ve survived a lot worse than a little rain,” Kai replied. Zane sighed, looking at his tired arms, then back at Kai, not completely sure what to do. Then it dawned on him.
“Stop for a second,” Zane said quickly, lowering his jacket and, as Kai stopped, slinging it around his shoulders and pulling the hood up, “Now you won’t catch a cold,” Zane said happily. Kai stood in awe, staring at the large, fluffy jacket now wrapped around him. He pulled the edges together and felt a warmness flood over him, but not from the jacket.
“I love you, Zane,” Kai said softly getting closer to the nindroid as they continued walking back to the monastery.
“I love you too, Loverboy,” Zane replied, wrapping his arm around Kai’s shoulders and putting his free hand in his pocket, “You look adorable in my jacket, by the way. Feel free to steal all my clothes because I’d give anything to see you looking like this again.” Kai blushed and shook his head, resting it on Zane’s side.
“I hope you know that now you’ve said that, you’ll never see any of your hoodies again,” He said with a laugh.
“I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

That night, a man with the appearance of a Babylonian approaches her – he calls himself a prince, one who is born for her. Chen Mei Ru believes it to be a joke, until this “prince” utters his name… Chen Mei Ru suddenly recalls the unbearable memories of her childhood: the handsome and remarkable prince; the gorgeous love rival, a princess with the power to control wind and rain; the prince’s best friend, an astronomically wealthy man. All of them were characters in a diary that she wrote when she was 12 years old. The diary’s plot was childish and cliched. Now that this group of three people has suddenly appeared in her life, could it be…these “diary characters” have come to life?
Review
This might be the first time that the lack of recognition for a TV show has made me sad. And there isn’t enough time in the world to be sad over this. Hence, this one time, I will surrender my wise principle of reserving judgment until a drama ends so that I may recommend this gem – Dear Diary (我的巴比伦恋人). Treat it as a midterm review!
If this drama betrays me with a drop in writing quality during the second half, then…well, I’ll be even more sad, but I’ll also return to this post and let you know riiiiiight here: it’s a winner, fam. Uh. Wish we didn’t have censorship laws, though…
As per usual, no spoilers are included in this post!
What is it?
A jaded career woman suddenly meets a stranger—key point: dressed as an ancient Babylonian—at her 24th birthday party, who abruptly professes his undying love for her. Turns out that this stranger is a prince, a character that she created in a story twelve years ago. Yes: think of those tales that you wove as an adolescent, and imagine meeting someone who emerged from those pages and spits out all that elementary dialogue like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Oh. Please. No.
Dear Diary initially comes off as a silly romcom with bizarre humor. Also, it’s native title translates to “My Babylonian Lover.” Yeah, we’ve heard a lot of generic, cheesy names like that before, haven’t we? Don’t be fooled, though. This drama is not only hysterically funny, but also a refreshingly creative and down-to-earth experience. To encapsulate: it’s quality.
Why watch?
Build abs with your laughter - there’s not really a way for a show with such a setup to be boring. It’s somewhat of a cross between Enchanted and The Romance of Tiger and Rose, in which the clash between a cliche storybook world and mundane reality produces a humorous culture shock effect. Yet, it somehow manages to be even funnier than you’d expect; because it’s not just any story come to life.
It’s a story written by a twelve-year-old. One without any class or consideration of reason, but sufficiently imaginative and cringeworthy to generate a real impact on you. None of the jokes are cheap or low-effort, and their deliveries are also spot-on. And even better if you have an understanding of certain aspects of Chinese culture: some of these gags are sure to hit you like a truck and send you flying.
Sometimes, during my work day, I’ll be minding my own business when my brain will randomly conjure up a segment from this show and I’ll start snickering. Right there, in front of the printer; in front of all my coworkers. So it’s probably responsible of me to warn you that the humor may have lasting side effects.
Let’s get real – for a show that appears so far departed from reality, it does an amazing job at portraying the struggle of young people in discovering their own self-worth. So much so that I feel a poignant, personal connection to the story. The basis is wild, but it ties back to the main character’s childhood, and how the story she wrote was a source of both comfort and trauma.
While the fantasy elements give us entertainment, they’re also utilized as metaphors for this cruel world of ours. At certain points, you’ll realize that the exchanges between characters incorporate a scary amount of meaning. It’s not every day that you encounter a drama that will heal you to this extent: it will make you laugh until you’re out of breath, and then empathize with your exhaustion.
Character inception – the characters of the female lead’s story? Umm…let’s just leave it at “cheesy.” But they quickly grow to be just as human as their 3D companions, and are equally—if not more—endearing. None of this drama’s characters fit into standard archetypes, and each one of them is the main subject of their own story. There isn’t a single character that’s “just a side character,” nor is there a single pairing that’s “just a side couple.”
The individuality of each, paired with actors that have impeccable understanding of their roles, makes it so easy to marathon this show because nothing is filler content. You’ll inhale episode after episode, deeply invested in what will happen to every single person on the screen before you even realize that you care.
“Fantasy” does not mean there are no rules – sorry to the writers, but I wasn’t expecting this show to be intelligent in any capacity. In my defense, is it my fault for having low expectations when so many TV shows are just…really dumb? But it doesn’t take long for you to discover that this show is a thoughtful one: imagine, the writers decide to use logic to develop the story. That’s not to say that the story is perfect. Given the short length of each episode (30 minutes a pop), the progression sometimes feels inelegant and clunky.
However, the drama still provides explanations for phenomena that could have easily been passed off as “fantastical things happening however they feel like happening, because none of it is real to begin with anyway.” Ugh…I’m so touched right now. Both as a whole and in its parts, you can tell how much love went into this show’s every moment.
The final conclusion is: watchable. Better than watchable. It’s put me under a spell, I tell you. Maybe a prince will come and awaken me from it. Wait, no. Uh. No, I take that back. I’ll just watch the drama.

My 2020 in dramaland pt 2/4
Tumblr media
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and happy holidays to everyone!! These are my favorite korean dramas of the year (I stand by these titles and I’m not ashamed of them lol). In chronological order:
My Holo Love: Say what? Who? First of all, I think this is a seriously underrated kdrama. I made a review on it here. Female lead had face blindness and Male Lead was a genius programmer. I know how this sounds but it all works for the plot, actually. Loved every moment of it (I watched it twice, and I rarely do that with dramas). A sort of sci-fi/fantasy romcom drama with a really unusual (and thus my favorite, EVER) love triangle and a nostalgic feel to it. While looking at my list of kdramas I knew I couldn’t treat Holo like all the others LOL it was special for me and still is.
OTP: They had sizzling chemistry! I honestly bought every cliche because of it. Including love at first sight.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The story was simple and had a lot of cliches but they kinda worked to the story’s advantage. This show is an example of why I fell for kdramas almost 10 years ago. Plus, the CGI wasn’t bad.  It’s ony 12 eps and they don’t really last an hour. A one day watch.
Do I recommend it? I LOVED it, but I recognize it’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for something fun, cute and light to binge-watch that still has some drama and a lot of romance and a happy ending, this is for you.
Find me in Your Memory: Beautiful. Awesome chemistry. Very romantic. She’s an actress, he’s an anchorman. She forgets a lot of things, he literally can remember most things REALLY WELL. She falls for him first, he tries to put distance because of his terrible past in his dating life lol but she wins him over and by the end, he loves her more than anything and anyone. They overcome a lot of crazy shit, and being together it’s hard, but it’s worse being apart. I made a review.
OTP: Loved them both individually and together. And honestly, THAT chemistry was perfect.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The chemistry and the acting by the leads. I became a fan of both because of this.
Do I recommend it? You really haven’t seen it? Please do it. Hahahaha Well, do it if you want to see a good melo knowing what that involves (romance, sadness, lots of tears, some frustration, etc). A really sweet and happy ending that was very well deserved. My favorite melo of the year Sorry Brahms!.Also, fair warning, it has a stalkers’ sub-plot.
The King: Eternal Monarch: You all know what this is about. And I said everything I wanted in my posts (I was mostly fangirling like crazy). Here’s my last one about it. I loved the acting and the story a lot. But I think the drama should have been longer.  Also, I loved the energy of the actors behind the scenes, idk why, but it always warms my heart to see the actors get along on set. Sure, it could be a publicity stunt, but I just don’t think it was the case with this one. And I know not a lot of people liked the two lead characters and said they had no chemistry but imo they were great characters and the actors had LOTS of chemistry. It’s just that it wasn’t very well translated in the first eps, but it was fixed. This, I believe, was a more of a direction problem, rather than a script or acting one.
BTW if the drama was already about time travel and parallel worlds, I had NO problem believing in destiny and that the leads were meant to be. It was fantasy, you guys, not rocket science.
OTP: the main couple loved each other passionately and fiercely. He waited 20+ years to meet her and another 20+ years (practically) to see her again AND she was willing to risk getting stuck in a timeless void just to be by his side because otherwise he would be all alone. Now, that’s love! Personally, I loved their ending.
Thing I enjoyed the most: The King ahahaha I’m a shameless fan, what can I do? He was a good man and a gentleman but a ruthless king thirsty for justice and vengeance. I cheered when he killed his uncle lmao. Also, all the mutuals I “met” thanks to this drama. You guys made the experience even better with your posts and your theories!! *sends hugs*
Do I recommend it? Look the story is great in my eyes. I did understand it and the mechanics of the time travel and the parallel worlds. The King explained everything quite a few times. I say this because most people that didn’t like it say they couldn’t understand the story and/or it made no sense. To me, it did. But I can see why this wouldn’t be for all. That being said, I shamelessly recommend it lol.
More than Friends: The faces they’re doing in the poster, are the ones I did while watching the last 4 eps of this drama HAHAHA which made me real sad/angry because I LOVED the story from ep 1 to 12. So, this is on the list MERELY BECAUSE OF LEE SOO, the male lead, played by Ong SeongWu. I went crazy and wrote about almost every scene on the drama lol I was obsessed. You can read my review about the whole thing here.
OTP: Wonderful chemistry. The best either of the actors have had so far with any of their co-stars. Then again, SeongWu has only been in 2 dramas and 1 movie. And Shin YeEun hasn’t been in a lot but had really good chemistry with Park JinYoung in He’s Pyschometric. (btw that drama is superior, I highly recommend it!)
Thing I enjoyed the most: The magnificent character development that Lee Soo went through. He was a completely different person in ep 16 compared to the selfish jerk in eps 1-4 (SeongWu’s acting in this convinced me he is one of the best actors of his age, and one of the best idols turned actors at the moment). And I loved discussing this drama with the only other 10 people who were watching it hahaha Thanks y’all.
Do I recommend it?  They advertised it as a romcom, but it really isn’t. It’s more of a slice of life/melo drama. I believe this is better as a binge-watch, but do not expect mindblowing plot, since it’s a character driven drama. So, do check out my review about it and have a go at it, I guess hahaha If not, you could see my posts about the show here and still know everything, because I pretty much covered the entire drama HAHAHA.
Note: I kinda think this drama is sort of a “500 days of Summer” situation, people either sympathize with ML or FL and hate the other. Or both HAHAHA It’s all about perspective, I guess.
Tale of the Nine Tailed: Everything you could ask for in a fantasy drama. For me, it was perfect and it made me cry like a baby. I made a review on the finale. I actually liked that he got his powers back at the end. Also, the main couple was the most functional couple I saw this year in kdramas. Which is crazy if you take into acount that he wasn’t human and both had a lot of pain and traumas from their pasts. Which shows that communication and trust is key to every relationship.
OTP:  THEY LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH! AND WERE BOTH HOT. SO HOT FOR EACH OTHER. I kinda ship the actors now lol
Thing I enjoyed the most: Jiah, Yeon and Rang. The romance and the relationship between Rang and Yeon, which is what actually made me cry in the end. But we all knew it was coming.
Do I recommend it? Hell Yeah. Might not be for everyone, but if you like fantasy and romance, one heavily connected with the other, and the reincarnated lovers trope which I adore! then this is your drama.
Honorable Mentions:
You know, they almost made it. But something held me back. Still, it didn’t feel right to put them with the other dramas. So they got an honorable mention with my favorite ones.
Tumblr media
Itaewon Class: This was, in general, a tragedy. But I loved it. Ooops. Dude was only stopping a classmate from bullying another and got his whole life ruined: got expelled, his dad was killed, he went to jail and had to start from the bottom and reached the top all thanks to one special and unique young girl. My eyes were full of tears when he finally got his happiness at the end and justice for his dad. Plus, it deals with a few topics that are still taboo in Korea. And the whole world tbh
OTP: SLOW BURN. Super slow lol For a moment there, I thought they weren’t going to be endgame, but they were and I WAS THE HAPPIEST.
Thing I enjoyed the most: Park Saeroyi and Yiseo. And the acting from the whole cast, actually. They did a really good job.
Do I recommend it? Yes. My brother hadn’t seen a kdrama in years and he saw this one. He enjoyed it greatly. I don’t know why I say this as if my brother were some kind of point of reference or expert in kdramas, but y’all need to trust me when I say this is impressive hahaha.
Into the Ring: This woman only wanted a job that could give her stability and a good pay check because her family was in huge debt. She ended up becoming a district representative that learned the real hard way a good person cannot live peacefully among politicians. She got the hell out of there in the end, thank God. Sera was a great heroine that really deserves to be called that. Loved her so much.
OTP: A super cute one that defied gender stereotypes in a delightful way. He was HER secretary at one point!
Thing I enjoyed the most: Listen, everything. It was really well done. I binged it in 2 weekends. I regret not doing a final review about it, but I just couldn’t find the time and if I do one now, it’s not gonna make the drama justice because I’m sure I’ll miss details. I did make 2 big posts about the sismance and romance.
Do I recommend it? YEP. Go see it now lol
Do you like Brahms?: Most people complained about the leads being way too depressed and miserable in the last third of the drama. I didn’t mind that, because you see, it’s what you’d expect from a melodrama lol What did leave this drama out of my favorites is the reason why they were so miserable in the first place and the 2 never actually had a long and meaningful conversation about their problems as individuals and about their relationship and it was SO needed. It was literally their thing at the start of the drama: the way they could be open with each other and communicate so damn well. But that was nowhere to be seen in the end. Still, they had a happy ending and after all that suffering, I appreciated that. I made posts about each ep. Here is the post about the last one.
OTP: Two introverts that kissed on a music room for the first time AND made out on a piano. ON THE PIANO, Y’ALL!! *fans self*
Thing I enjoyed the most: The leads. The only TWO decent people (and friends), everyone else was an awful person. Oh, and the team leader. Such a great lady!
Do I recommend it? OMG Yes? It’s hard to say it but I try to judge the drama overall and how in love I was for the most part rather than how much it frustrated me in the last few eps. If you want to watch a melo with classical music that instead of healing makes you sadder, a love hexagon that makes you want to kill secondary characters and an OTP that gets their HEA despite all that, this is your drama.
Tumblr media
Live On: This is a last minute addition, but given the fact that it will air the last ep on the first week of 2021, it kinda technically counts as this year’s. And I do love it. A mini drama about high schoolers. Here’s my post about the first ep and about the most recent one (with spoilers) It’s just a really well done, romantic, cute and fun with touch of mystery, coming of age story.
OTP: The most popular girl in high school and the smart president of the broadcasting club. Started as strangers, then went on to disliking each other, became friends and then liked each other. Also, ML is quite straightforward and flirtily honest lol
Thing I enjoyed the most: How short it is and the pace of the story. The main couple and the way the mystery was written, not a lot so it’d make the whole drama just about that, but enough to make an interesting backstory that sets FL on her journey and in the process, brings the six main characters together.TW: the whole mystery revolves around bullying.
Do I recommend it? If you like high school romances, YES. It’s only 8 eps long! You can binge it on a saturday or a sunday and I assure you it won’t be a waste of time. Kinda wish I could erase it all from my mind so that I could experience the whole story right away. I envy those who can binge it.

Stick It To Dis Bear!
Summary: An alternate/bonus scene about THE STICKER in Chapter 25 of Super Danganronpa 2: Matsuda Yasuke’s Battle of Despair and Wits.
Rating: PG
Warnings: None really.
Notes: I just didn’t feel right leaving out the stupid sticker. I still haven’t gone to a theater in over a year. For obvious reasons. I think I’m done with theaters. Like, forever. The last film I saw was Birds of Prey. That was good. I don’t need to see another movie.

They managed to get all the testing done in one day, although if Hinata played along in hopes of being told everything, he ended up sorely disappointed. Another to add to the list of people who found Matsuda in general to be a disappointment as a person. At least, Matsuda had an inkling that such was how the chestnut felt.
He was dealing with his own disappointment—with Komaeda still dragging his feet even after Hinata got too exhausted to keep fucking around with them.
“I feel like nothing of value actually happened,” Hinata groused.
That’s because it did. So little happened that it’s barely worth a passing narration, Matsuda thought.
“You’ve done well, Hinata-kun!” Komaeda chirped. “Great work! As expected of an Ultimate!”
“Shove it,” Hinata snapped. “It would’ve been nice if any of that felt like it mattered.”
“Aw, Hinata-kun...” Komaeda does pout, and it visibly gets Hinata more flustered and frustrated. “I really am sorry that you feel like your time was wasted.” Komaeda turns the full force of that pout to Matsuda. “Hinata-kun feels that his time was wasted. Isn’t that sad? Don’t you feel sad?”
“Yeah,” Hinata agreed through gritted teeth. “Doesn’t that make you sad?”
What romcom bullshit did I wake up in now?
“...I guess... It’s sad?”
“It’s so sad!” Komaeda exclaimed emotionally. “Matsuda-kun, you must make up to him! If only it’d abate his pain a little!”
“I mean, I guess it was a pretty big pain,” Hinata agreed with that, too, even if he seemed more confused about it. “It’d be...nice if I got some compensation...”
“What the hell?” Matsuda balked at the idea. “You volunteered?”
“I don’t REMEMBER that!” Hinata shot back. “For all I know, you lied to my face AGAIN! You do seem to like lying if it benefits you!”
Matsuda opened his mouth but hummed thoughtfully. When he went to speak again, he thought against it and hummed some more.
“C-Can you at least pretend you’re ashamed?” Hinata asked, exasperated. “Like, if you agree, surely you see that it’s wrong...”
I don’t really care.
He especially doesn’t care to pretend he cares. That said...
Komaeda was pouting at him. Lower lip stuck out, puppy eyes, the works. For a kid who looked half on death’s doorstep, it shouldn’t have been that effective. What the fuck.
Matsuda sighed loudly.
I don’t really care, but...
“Alright. Compensation. I guess I can do that,” he said before muttering, “What kind of compensation, though...? Do you want a coupon or what?”
“What would I use a coupon for?” Hinata asked, raising an eyebrow. “I mean—I would’ve been fine with just an apology.”
“Oh, Hinata-kun, such a martyr...” Komaeda gave him a pitying look. “You need to raise your standards.”
Hinata flinched for reasons beyond the current conversation.
“...I guess...”
“Yeah, you’re not getting an apology when I’m not sorry,” Matsuda said. “Pick something else.”
“Seriously?” Hinata gave him a look. “I... What the hell am I supposed to ask for?”
“A raise!” Komaeda exclaimed. “Extra vacation days! Or maybe a cruise!”
“I’m not paying for a fucking cruise,” Matsuda snapped. “Just how much money do you think I have?”
“Eh? But, Matsuda-kun, you’re a renowned neurologist,” Komaeda pointed out. “Even if you’re still a minor, you should be making a considerable amount of money...”
“Paid intern,” Matsuda corrected. “I could afford rent and instant food without having to pick up a parttime job on the side. Better than most...other people of my status...” He paused, having to stop himself for a moment before continuing, “I’m still not living the fancy life, though.”
Living as an orphan is never easy, especially in this country.
“That seems unfair,” Komaeda pointed out.
“What rock do you live under? That’s just how it is,” Matsuda scoffed. “Maybe if I had rich parents or even grandparents, it’d be different but I don’t.”
My worthless dad fucking ran the second shit got only a little difficult. Come to think of it, how did I manage after...?
“Rich parents,” Komaeda echoed as Matsuda rubbed his temple irritably. “I see.”
What now?
“Oh nothing!” Komaeda chirped, waving his hand as he was stared at by both Matsuda and Hinata. Right. Hinata.
This was supposed to be about Hinata.
“I, uh, don’t know much about making money,” Hinata confessed rather pitifully. “I’ve done some job-hunting...and I guess I’ve helped out at a convenience store? But only because my parents knew the owner...”
“How down to earth,” Matsuda remarked. “I knew a convenience store owner who gave me a sandwich because she felt sorry for me.”
“The one I knew hated me,” Komaeda chirped. “She said I was cursed! Which I guess was true!”
Both Matsuda and Hinata stared at him again, this time harder than before. Despite that, Komaeda remained bouncy and cheerful.
“Since financial compensation isn’t an option, I guess the best we can do is find something on the island to give Hinata-kun!”
“There’s a supermarket,” Matsuda pointed out dryly.
“I can just go there myself and grab whatever I want,” Hinata said. “I don’t need you picking up anything for me.”
“Do you want to be compensated or not?” Matsuda snapped.
“You’re not the kind of person who gets easily taken advantage of, right?” Komaeda asked, looking at him pityingly again.
“I’m not answering that,” Hinata griped. “But yes, I want compensation, I just... I don’t think I’m going to get the kind of compensation I actually want...”
Komaeda looked at Matsuda next.
“Sucks,” is all he had to offer.
Hinata grumbled, but wasn’t one to give up easily, almost as if he was motivated by a higher force.
“There’s stuff to do, right? Like, go to the beach...”
“I guess I can take you a beach and toss a frisbee for you to fetch,” Matsuda conceded.
“O-Or maybe relax at the park!!”
“Oh, should I bring a leash instead?” Matsuda asked, head tilted.
“T-There’s the movie theater!” Hinata exclaimed in a fit of desperation. “Let’s try that! Let’s go to the movies!”
Matsuda stared. Komaeda stared. Hinata took their silence as agreement.
“The movies,” he decided. “L-Let’s go to the movies.”
Matsuda and Komaeda traded looks.
It was decided, but not without reservations.
--
“Surely there’s more than one film showing,” Hinata said, looking up at the sign. “I mean... I know I wanted to come here but... This film is supposed to be really bad, right?”
“It is,” Matsuda confirmed.
“It really, really is,” Komaeda agreed. “No offense, Hinata-kun, but you’re going to have to watch this alone if you have your heart set on it.”
“I-I thought I was supposed to be getting treated?!” Hinata protested. “And—I won’t want to see it anyway! I just...” He trails off. “I just...thought it might be nice to watch a move... I wasn’t thinking about...”
Wasn’t thinking is right. I’m also surprised you have the energy.
“Guess it can’t hurt to check,” Matsuda said as he made his way inside. “Of course the main issue is asking...”
Komaeda whistled before Matsuda even had a second to truly dread what came before.
“WHAT AM I, A DOG?!” Monokuma shrieked. “Call me by my NAME or at least a TITLE if you can MANAGE IT?!”
“Why would I when you already answered?” Komaeda retorted. “I just wanted to ask some questions about any films playing?”
“Why? So you can break my fragile little bear heart all over again?” Monokuma sniffled. “Critics are vultures! Vultures, I tell ya!”
“Get the fuck over yourself,” Matsuda snapped. “We’re only here because this dumbass wants to see a movie.”
“I-I’m not a dumbass!” Hinata protested, but Monokuma looked at him as if he were, in fact, a dumbass. “What?! Do you have a problem with that?!”
“Eheh... Upupupu, and here I thought you didn’t want to watch it!” Monokuma cackled. “You were just being tsundere all along! Should’ve known!”
“I don’t want to watch that film, just a film,” Hinata hurriedly corrected but Monokuma just squealed.
“Such a tsundere that you even threw away millions for a sticker!”
“Millions...?” Matsuda echoed.
“For...a sticker?” Komaeda wondered, wide-eyed.
“Don’t worry about it!” Hinata yelped, waving his hand frantically. “I-It’s nothing to worry about!”
“I think tsundere syndrome IS pretty worrying!” Monokuma exclaimed, smacking Hinata on the ass and retrieving the one and only sticker. “I mean, honestly! Imagine paying 150 million yen for this lovely sticker just so you don’t have to watch a movie! Check it, check it!”
“Stop, don’t!” Hinata shrieked, but Monokuma couldn’t be deterred, flinging that sticker into Matsuda’s face.
Matsuda got a good look at it, as did Komaeda. The Monokuma sticker grinned back at them, with the cheekily written following words underneath: I’m sorry, I was born stupid.
Matsuda stared. Komaeda stared. The sticker smugly kept on staring back, radiating contempt and malice.
“H-Hinata-kun,” Komaeda began shakily, sounding close to tears. “You bought this for 150 million yen?”
“I-I had to take out a loan,” was Hinata’s pitiful explanation. “I didn’t...pay for it upfront...”
“What were you going to do if it accrued interest?” Matsuda asked blankly.
“And what are you going to do now that you’re gonna watch the movie anyway?!” Monokuma exclaimed. “All that money—wasted!”
“I can’t believe you’re going to go bankrupt over this shitty sticker,” Matsuda lamented, feeling genuinely apologetic for his cruel fate. “I’m so sorry to hear that.”
And Hinata.
Just.
Screamed.
“ARGH FORGET IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!”
--
In the end, Hinata ran out of the theater. In the end, Matsuda and Komaeda wordlessly left as well. In the end, Monokuma surely laughed his furry ass off.
Another day largely wasted.
“Do you think Hinata-kun’s going to want his sticker back?” Komaeda asked, grimacing at the thing as if it had committed great offense. Which it had. Simply by existing. “Monokuma didn’t write up a contract. His word isn’t legally binding. Hinata-kun might not have to pay.”
“Hm.” Matsuda stuffed the sticker into his mouth, chewing it and swallowing it much to Komaeda’s awe. “It’s his word against ours. I can at least afford a lawyer.”
“I’ll pay for legal fees! Just for Hinata-kun!” Komaeda exclaimed, fired up now. “And—!”
“Once we get out of here, we’ll take him to see an actual movie,” Matsuda said.
Komaeda shut his mouth.
“Once we get out of here,” Matsuda repeated.
Komaeda said nothing else for the rest of the day, but there was a particular glimmer to his gaze. One that Matsuda took note of, and couldn’t help but hope for a greater significance.

Your 12-hour shift at the hospital just ended. The census hasn’t gone down for days and while you’ve gotten so good at convincing yourself that you’re strong and resilient, you can feel the weariness seep in through your bones.
While walking to your apartment, you noticed that the bookstore on the corner of the street has finally opened its doors. A part of you wanted to walk past it, visit another day when you’re not wearing your nurse’s uniform, tired and sweaty. But the urge to scan the book selection was much stronger and so you find yourself pushing its glass doors. The bell chimes welcome you.
Tumblr media
The warm lights and the smell of new books were enough to calm your weary soul. The bookstore was smaller compared to the well-known ones located at the malls, but it had the organic and cozy vibe of a library which you’re very much well pleased with. And the fact that it’s not crowded yet means you’ll be able to roam around freely.
You were feeling giddy when you finally reached the non-fiction section. Your eyes scanned each title, looking for any familiar ones that could be in your TBR list.
Tumblr media
Finally, you see a white spine, “When Breath Becomes Air.” You grabbed for it hastily which caused the books beside it to topple down.
You bowed down to reach for the books but a hand beat you to it.
“Oh thank you.” You said as you stood upright. The person was really tall that you had to tilt your head a little bit to be able to see their face. You held your breath as you stood face-to-face with a handsome, bespectacled, human being.
“Was just looking for this.” He smiled as he held the book you accidentally dropped—Being Mortal by Atul Gawande.
Tumblr media
You pretended to be cool about it like it’s not at all a big deal to meet your ideal guy (superficially speaking) in one of your most favorite places.
“Yeah? Sorry for accidentally pushing it to its death.” It sounded alright in your mind but having said it in words made you internally cringe.
He held the book and scanned it for dents. He shrugged, “Nah, it survived the fall—despite being mortal, oh God, that was so bad.” He let out a hearty laugh which you swore could melt an iceberg. “Anyway, thanks!” He smiles once more before turning his back.
Your heart deflated a little bit. Sharing a joke with a handsome stranger at the bookstore. Isn’t that the perfect recipe for a meet-cute? Except you’ll probably never meet again. Just another statistic of your “could-have-beens”.
Well, he could have asked for your name or YOU could have offered a book suggestion. Except he probably doesn’t find you attractive enough and you don’t have the guts to make the first move on a stranger.
You shrugged the thought away. Too much Kdramas and romcoms do screw your brain a little bit. You looked at your book once more. Right, maybe you should just fill your mind more with philosophies and thought-provoking stuff. Nonetheless, you can’t contain the smile forming on your face. Butterflies should stay in the gardens and not on your guts.
•••
When you said that book guy is just another statistic of a failed meet-cute, you were pleasantly surprised to find yourself wrong.
Two months later, you’re at a coffee shop waiting in line when you spot him sitting near the window.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was wearing a white uniform, busy typing on the laptop in front of him. Unlike the scattered papers on his table, he looked serene. He adjusts his eyeglasses and you notice how slender and beautiful his fingers are.
“He’s a student.” You thought. Before you knew it, you started computing for your possible age gap. Given it has only been a year since you’ve graduated, 5 years would be the maximum gap if he’s a freshman. You cringed at the thought of dating someone younger. Moreover, you cringed at the thought that you’d actually date someone out of your league.
“Good morning! What’s your order?” The barista’s voice booms as if calling you out back to reality.
“Oh…yeah, uhh..” You proceeded to recite your order and another 5 orders of your co-nurses at SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit).
Waiting for your orders, you purposefully sat on a table that could give you the best vision of him in a very lowkey manner. Whatever that is.
You tried your best to be nonchalant but your eyes would subtly glance at him.
Oh wow, is that a great view from the window? You thought as you glide your eyes to where he was. To your surprise, he was looking at you too.
You dropped your gaze for a few seconds and looked up at him once again. He was smiling and your heart starts to palpitate.
Did he recognize you?
You watch him raise his hand, waving.
Entranced, you almost waved back but a person walks past you, her white skirt blocking your view of him. You watched her sit right in front of the book guy. Your book guy. She was wearing the same uniform as him. A classmate. A really pretty classmate.
You clenched your hand. You felt embarrassed, angry even. Angry at yourself for always expecting that someone would actually look at you. And stupid for thinking that meeting your soulmate would eventually be as exciting and memorable as the Kdramas.
The barista calls your name and you get up. You picked your orders and left without turning back.
•••
The thing about reality and romance is that not every encounter will be explosive. No, it won’t be as fast as love at first sight. Sometimes, love would come in the most mundane and gradual way possible.
A week later, you’d see book guy at your workplace. He’s one of the two med students on their clerkship assigned in your unit. He’d introduce himself as “Jae” and before you could do the same, he’d utter your name and everyone would be curious to know how you knew each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d dread the fact that he’d recognize your embarrassing moment at the coffee shop but he’d say that he actually recalls meeting you at the book store. And that he just read your name from your name tag.
Days, weeks passed.
Coincidence or not, your schedule would almost be the same and so you’d spend most of your shifts with Jae. You’d almost feel tired answering his seemingly endless questions.
You’d give him a heads up on what to expect on his first observation in the OR and he’d let you borrow a book in return.
You’d still catch yourself sneaking a glance at him but work would eventually drown his presence.
Tumblr media
You’d sometimes spend your lunch together and you’d learn that you share the same taste of music and that he plays an instrument too.
You never seemed to run out of things to talk to and sometimes—a lot of times, you’d entertain that idea that he could actually like you.
But you knew that expectations lead to disappointments so you’d eventually settle your heart that whatever you had is just purely platonic friendship and you’d convince yourself that you are totally fine with that.
You thought that once he leaves your unit, whatever connection you had will mellow down. But then he asks for your number and his first text would be “Started benign in the morning, now I just assisted in delivering a baby. Is it normal to feel like crying?”
He’d send you memes about cats and your fave shows and soon you’d develop your inside jokes.
You tried your best to keep cool and ignore the butterflies but then something actually happens.
1 year later, he’d confess to you in the same coffee shop.
"I like you. I really like you." He said.
You’d be left speechless and be teary-eyed.
“How…? When?” You’d ask.
He said he could not forget how he was amused at your facial expression when you were picking your book at the bookstore. He said he would have stricken a longer conversation if not for his dad waiting on his car who was his ride at that time.
At the coffee shop, he noticed you while you recited the lengthy orders of your workmates and he was impressed.
Tumblr media
He did smile at you but his classmate and partner in a school activity coincidentally arrived.
And no, he did not read your name tag. He knew about it when he heard the barista called you and he remembered.
When he saw the hospital he was interning at, he wondered if you’d be there. When he saw you at the unit he was first assigned at, his heart felt like it could jump out of his chest. He thought it was “fate” and it felt like fate because your schedules would usually coincide. He said knowing you more each day excites him and gives him joy. You were his kindred spirit and confidant. You just clicked.
And just like that, your unrequited-love streak comes to an end.
"Thank you." You answered and Jae's eyes started to quiver. He opens his mouth but no words came out.
Realizing your mistake you started to say sorry which made everything worse.
Jae forced himself to smile but you can see the pain in his eyes. He thought he was being rejected!
You took his right hand on the table and held it firmly. "I like you too, Jae."
His eyes widened and he started laughing.
Tumblr media
"Oh God, I can't believe I'm capable of having 5 different kinds of emotions in less than 10 seconds."
"Cute," you muttered.
"Did you just call me cute!?"
You shook your head and smiled. "I mean... I guess you're my meet-cute after all."

Legally Ginger Chapter 4 (Romione, PG-13)
Title: Legal Ginger, Chapter 4 "Not Completely Unfortunate Looking"
Pairing: Romione, minor Ron/Astoria, Harry/Astoria
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Ron makes his first East Coast friend
Thanks adnei for all the beta help!
Bolded dialogue plus the chapter title are verbatim or very very heavily ripped from the movie.
Thank you for all your comments last chapter! I think the fun of these RomCom inspired fics is to surprise you with what character ends up where.
And to be clear, I love Harry - not as much as Ron but I am one of these weirdos that somehow thinks the main character is underrated in his own series. But the very few times Harry was mad at Ron, he knew how to cut and I'm going to have some fun with that. I doubt you'll hate Harry when this story is complete. But you might at the end of next chapter.

Ron stormed back to his room, struggling with the lock as his hands shook. After finally getting the door open, he quickly grabbed for Pig’s leash. The pug has out of his bed and at Ron’s feet in a flash.
Ron, who didn’t have patience for Pig’s short legs today, scooped him up and stomped down the hall and out to the parking lot. He jerked open the door to his Escape and deposited Pig in the passenger’s seat before taking a deep breath.
Pig tilted his head quizzically.
“We need to hit something.”
**********************************
After driving about 10 miles, Ron spotted it. A large building that had seen better days with steel cages and a dilapidated miniature golf course outside. The weathered sign outside it said “Hogs Head Sports Center and Pub”.
He cut through two lanes of traffic to turn into the mostly empty parking lot. After putting the car in park, he took a second to dig for quarters in his center console but came up empty. “Shit,” he sighed.
Ron grabbed Pig’s leash and the dog hopped down to follow him towards the building.
Upon entering, Ron found the inside to be about as unkempt as the outside but it was surprisingly clean. Another pleasant surprise was that there was a bar to the right with a few grizzled townies eating nachos and being served drafts by a grumpy looking bearded bartender while they watched Sportscenter on a small flat screen. In the back was a sole batting cage, a few arcade machines and a beat up door with a paper taped to it that said “Simulator in Use”. To the left, a small counter with golf clubs, colored golf balls, and tiny pencils.
Behind the counter was the biggest man Ron had ever seen in real life and he’d been lucky enough to meet three Lakers, two Warriors, and a Ram. Similar to the bartender, he had unkempt hair and a wild beard but unlike the old guy slinging drinks, he was middle aged and his face split in a big smile upon seeing Ron.
“Hello,” the giant of a man greeted him. “What’s doing?”
“I need some quarters for the cages,” Ron said, holding out a $5.
“Sure,” the man agreed and opened the cash register.
“Thanks,” Ron muttered and started to walk out the door before stopping short. “Shit.”
“Something wrong?”
“I don’t have my bat,” Ron said, shaking his head.
“Came to the cages without a bat?” the guy said, his accent so thick that Ron had to pause to process before answering.
“Uh yeah. I sort of just needed to find something to hit that wasn’t…” Ron trailed off.
“The other guy?” The giant man finished his sentence with a chuckle.
Ron laughed. “Pretty much.”
The man walked into the back room and came out with two worn bats. “I’ve been there,” he said, handing Ron one.
“Thanks.”
“You look like you could use some company,” the man said.
Ron considered for a moment. He’d been lonely as hell this week. Growing up with six siblings, living in a fraternity house… he wasn’t used to all this time to himself. And this guy was only the second genuine conversation he’d had since arriving in Boston.
“Sure,” he replied. “My name’s Ron.”
The man outstretched a giant hand. “Everyone calls me Hagrid.”
***********************
“We hooked up the night before graduation and she’s already engaged to this d-bag?”
“I don’t get it,” Hagrid said. “What’s so great about this guy?”
Ron had spent the last half hour spilling his life story while hitting balls off the fastest pitching machine in the cages. Hagrid had proved himself to be a captive and empathetic audience - almost like talking with one of his older brothers.
Ron shrugged. “He’s obviously smart.”
“Why? Cause he got into Harvard? So did you. Better looking than you?”
“I mean, he’s a little scrawny. If I’d actually been dumb enough to hit him, I’d have won before he even knew we were fighting but he’s decent looking enough. I’ve got a sister and he’s her type.”
“He seems like a total asshole so no way he’s got you beat on personality,” Hagrid said.
Ron laughed. “You’ve known me for forty minutes!”
Now Hagrid shrugged. “Lived here my whole life. Not to paint with too broad a brush but there aren’t a lot of Harvard kids kicking back with the counter guy at a rec center. You check out.”
“That’s probably true from what I’ve seen,” Ron agreed. “But I’m not really a Harvard kid. I just...I actually don’t know what I expected.”
“You expected to spend the rest of your lives together! I don’t get why it’s so hard. Isn’t that what all the TV shows tell us women want? My girl, Olympe, she dumped me a few months back. She took everything. Our home, the Dunkie’s rewards, my baby Fangs…”
“Fangs?”
“Best mutt there is,” Hagrid said. “Although this guy’s pretty great.” Hagrid leaned down to scratch the Pig’s ears.
“I'm sorry, that sucks,” Ron replied, shaking his head.
“It happens all the time,” Hagrid shrugged. “You ready for a beer?”
“Always,” agreed Ron and they walked back toward the main building.
Upon entering the building, Ron set his bat on the counter. “What’s the old man got on tap?”
When Hagrid didn’t immediately reply, Ron turned to look at him. He was standing frozen, staring across the room where an attractive middle aged brunette woman in a polo shirt and jeans was pushing an empty dolley out from behind the bar and towards them.
“Hi, Hagrid,” she said with a smile. Ron turned to grab the door and hold it open for her.
“Uh, yeah, uh hi,” stammered Hagrid. He tried to slide his bat on the counter but only succeeded in knocking the one Ron used to the floor with a loud clatter.
She waved as she left the building.
“Could I be any more goddamn spastic?” Hagrid bemoaned. Ron gave a sympathetic wince. “Now I really need that drink.”
Ron followed him over to the bar and slid onto the stool next to him.
“Abe? Can we get a couple?”
The bearded old man behind the bar grunted and poured them two drafts.
Hagrid took a sip and shook his head. “This women stuff is hard. Never thought I’d be in this position at my age. But you’re still young. Doesn’t have to be this difficult for you. Smart guy, good guy, athletic guy like you. You’d find another girl in no time.”
“I mean, maybe, but Astoria…. she’s worth fighting for, you know?”
“Well, engaged ain’t married,” said Hagrid. “Never, ever, ever give up.”
Ron burst out laughing. “That’s Michael Scott advice!”
“Eh, it worked out for Jim and Pam,” insisted Hagrid.
“Well, I’m not giving up yet, so don’t worry.”
*************************************************************************************
Ron entered his first class Tuesday morning, feeling much more confident. After leaving Hogs Head with a stomach full of greasy nachos, Hagrid’s number, and an offer to text anytime, he'd returned to campus and poured over all the syllabi and orientation packets again. He felt confident that he’d done the pre-work needed to enter his Criminal Law class.
He plunked down in his seat and looked around. In front of him sat Astoria and what’s his face. Harry had his arm draped behind the back of her chair.
Engaged ain’t married. Engaged ain’t married. He repeated to himself.
In addition to his studying last night, he had tried to scour social media to see if there was a wedding date set, but the news seemed totally non-existent. On a whim, he had texted Lavender. Lavender had said she was working for LiveNation post graduation but Ron wondered if she’d actually joined the FBI - thirty minutes later, she had emailed him a whole mess of screenshots from various social media accounts, college newsletters, and local newspapers. He thought he might even have Harry’s social security number in the file. The only thing he cared about was that she had confirmed there was no date set and that they intended on a long engagement.
“Hem, hem.”
The noise came from a small woman standing at the front of the hall. She had a flat face and her style of dress was atrocious - fluffy pink cardigan over a shapeless tan shift dress. He vowed to get a discrete picture of her to throw in the group chat.
“Welcome to Criminal Law. I am Professor Dolores Umbridge. I have high expectations of how you will perform and how you will conduct yourself in my class. I expect you to push yourselves to excel and outperform your classmates and yourselves. And bear in mind, performing well this year will have you well placed for one of four highly regarded internships at my firm next year where you will be applying your skills to real world cases.”
“Now, let’s commence with our usual torture,” she said. She studied a class roster.
Please not me. But I can do it. But also, please not me.
“Mr. Weasley.”
Goddamn it.
“Would you prefer your client have committed a crime malum in se or malum prohibitum?” Professor Umbridge asked.
“Well,” he said carefully. “I prefer they not have committed the crime at all.”
The rest of the class snickered.
“That is the dream, Mr. Weasley,” she said with a wry smile. She looked down at the roster again. “What about you, Mr. Potter?”
“Malum prohibitum,” he said confidently. “I’d rather they commit a regulatory infraction as opposed to a dangerous crime.”
“Well said, Mr. Potter,” Professor Umbridge replied. “Let’s take a closer look at malum prohibitum, shall we?”
Harry shot a glance back at Ron over his shoulder and gave him a shit eating grin before running his fingers up and down Stori’s arm.
We’re in the middle of fucking class and he’s mauling her like they’re at a kegger.
Before he could think better of it, Ron raised his hand.
“Oh,” said Professor Umbridge. “You had a question Mr. Weasley?”
“No,” said Ron. “I just changed my mind. I’ll take the dangerous criminal. Unlike Potter, a challenge has never scared me.”
Harry whipped his head around to glare at Ron.
“Exactly the spirit I like to see, Mr. Weasley,” Umbridge said approvingly.
*************************
“Come on boy,” said Ron, urging Pig along down the stairs of the dorms.
The semester was now three weeks old. Ron was dutifully completing his reading each night and when McGonagall had come back at him again with a question, he had managed to piece together an answer that satisfied her.
Campus life, however, had continued to be fairly lonely for him. His debacle in McGonagall’s class had spread like wildfire and he’d been shunned from every study group he approached. He’d taken to reviewing in the bar at the Hogs Head for the company. He wasn’t sure if Hagrid liked him or Pig better but at least there was one place in town they were always welcome.
“I didn’t know pets were allowed in student housing,” he heard a voice say.
Ron glanced up to see a face that looked somewhat familiar to him. After a tick, he recognized the woman speaking as the same one who had reassured him that first day of classes.
“Service animals are,” he told her.
She looked at him skeptically, brushing her voluminous hair behind her ears. “Is he a service animal?”
“He provides services,” Ron said, giving her a cocky grin.
She pursed her lips as though she was trying not to smile. “Such as?”
“Getting the attention of beautiful women,” Ron answered.
The brunette stood up and crossed her arms against her chest but there was really no hiding her obvious amusement. “Wow.” She shook her head and started to walk away.
“Come on, that was a good line, right?” Ron called after her.
She stopped and looked back at him. “I just didn’t think that was an area that you needed assistance in,” she said slyly, before walking away.
Shit, what a response.
He grinned, watching her go. He was about to call and ask her name - after all, she was the friendliest person on the campus - when he caught a glimpse of Astoria out of the corner of his eye. She was standing about twenty feet away with fucking Harry’s arm draped around her shoulders, talking to a couple of other students. For fuck’s sake, is she full of helium now? He’s constantly got an arm around her to weigh her down. But she was watching Ron through narrowed eyes.
Ron gave a small wave and Stori blushed, clearly embarrassed that she was caught. At that moment, Harry seemed to notice his fiancée was distracted and glanced in Ron’s direction. He threw Ron one of his patented spoiled rich dick smirks. Ron smirked right back and winked.
I’m not as out of the picture as you think. We’ll see who wins this one.
********************
Ron was just stepping out of the bathroom when he spotted his phone lighting up.
Fred
FaceTime as soon as you can!
He sighed, threw on a shirt, and dialed his brother.
Fred’s face appeared before him. Sort of. Wherever he was was dark, loud and full of strobe lights.
“What’s going on?” Ron asked.
“We’re celebrating!” shouted Fred. The camera turned and Ron suddenly saw a whole slew of his friends.
Parvati came into view. “Seamus proposed and Lav said yes!”
Over her right shoulder, Ron spotted the aforementioned couple kissing. Over Parvati’s left shoulder though, he saw…
“Are you at a strip club?” Ron asked.
“Of course!” yelled George. “It’s 6pm on a Monday. Half price drinks and free buffet at Diamond’s!”
“I just bought a ring, I gotta pay for a wedding, and student loans are coming due,” Seamus said, now closer to the camera. Lavender’s face wasn’t in view but he assumed the hand with the ring on screen belonged to her.
“Congrats buddy,” Ron said, feeling a sting.
“June 9th. I need you as one of my groomsmen, right? Lavender’s first cousin is like six two. If she wears heels, only you can match up to her.”
“I wouldn’t miss it,” Ron assured him.
“Ron! Did that stuff help? Has she dumped that douche yet?” Lavender screamed, not aware of just how close she was to the mic.
“Uh, I’m making progress,” Ron said.
“Almost October bro,” George said. “If anyone can make it work, you can.”
“Or just come home!” he heard his sister shout from far away.
“I’ll see you all soon,” Ron said. “Have fun.”
“I’ll slip Destiny a $5 and tell her it’s from you in case you change your mind,” Ginny called. Then the screen went black.
God, he missed his friends, his family. He missed having a bunch of guys at the frat to hang out with at the drop of a hat. He missed having a dozen teammates, available for a run at the drop of a hat. He missed Tim, the coffee cart guy who always knew his correct coffee/milk/syrup ratio.
He didn’t think Harvard would be easy. He didn’t think that it would be easy to get Astoria back. But he assumed making friends would be easy. He didn’t even remember how he made friends at CULA - did he even have to try? He sighed and picked up Pig’s leash, ready to take him for one last walk.
“It’s a Cambridge tradition - pass it along to everyone,” he heard someone say down the hall. “8 o’clock tomorrow at Gord’s Pub”
“What tradition?” Ron asked, coming around the corner. “Oh.”
There he was, face to face, with Harry Potter.
“Uh, sorry,” said Ron. “I heard the word pub.”
Harry looked at him and then gave a slight smile. “Yeah, man. There’s a trivia night at Gord’s Pub tomorrow night. It’s sort of a law school tradition to hit it up.”
“Trivia night, huh?” Ron asked.
“Yeah, the guy who does it prides himself on coming up with the most difficult questions he can. It’s impossible to win. Everyone completely bombs on every question so everyone just gets drunk by the second half. I hear it’s a pretty good night,” Harry said.
“Cool,” said Ron awkwardly.
“You should stop by. I’m sure there’ll be a team you can jump onto,” Harry suggested.
“Yeah, yeah, maybe I will,” Ron said.
“Cool dog,” Harry said, pointing at Pig.
“Uh, thanks. Have a good night,” Ron said, walking away.
Am I so desperate for friends that I’m hanging out with this douche? I guess so.

lit through the darkness at 1:58 (you told me you loved me) - part 6
Playlist Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five
Hey! This is the last part of the story! It’s a little on the longer side, but there wasn’t really a good time for a chapter break. I’m really proud of this story, and I’ll be making a post that just has all the parts in one place that’s easy to navigate.
Summary: Toni and Shelby were best friends in high school, and the relationship turned romantic, but it ended poorly. Now, after years of feeling like the Shelby she sees now is not the Shelby she knows, Toni goes to talk to her.
The title comes from “Last Kiss” by Taylor Swift.
Anything italicized takes place in the past. :)
It’s around 4:30 when Toni reaches Shelby’s house for the second time that day. This time, instead of staring at the door like it will come alive and swallow her whole, like she thought it might the first time she was here, she quickly rapped her knuckles on the door. She was full of so much hope that, if she were a spectator of some sort, she may call herself foolish and naïve. But she was no spectator.
She felt like she was seventeen again and being kissed by Shelby for that first time, all full of hope for what may be and worry that it might fall apart.
On top of all of that, however, there was concern for Shelby. The girl potentially just lost everything by telling that truth.
That combination of hope and concern was quickly twisting into guilt and eating at Toni’s insides. She felt selfish and wrong for being so hopeful and for thinking about herself when Shelby was, without a doubt, hurting.
When Shelby opened the door, her eyes were red and her cheeks were wet, She looked small and broken in the dim light of the early morning.
Without thinking, Toni wrapped her arms around her, feeling the blonde shake and sob in her arms. Part of her wanted to tell her it would be okay, but she didn’t even really know what happened, so that could end up being an outright lie. Instead, she just held her and stroked her hair.
When Shelby pulls out of the hug, she just stares at Toni for a while, like she’s frozen in place.
“How about we go inside and talk? Okay, Shelby?”
- - - - - - - - -
Nothing changes.
Shelby continues to keep her distance from Toni and it doesn’t matter if it’s intentional or not anymore. Toni is constantly just filled with rage, ready to be ignited the moment someone mentions her blonde best friend.
But she keeps pretending to Shelby’s face and hopes it will make her come back.
As time goes on, it only gets worse. Toni spends the entirety of her lunch on Valentine’s Day sobbing into Martha’s shoulder because, as much as she hates the holiday, Shelby loves it.
Even more embarrassing than that is when the school does a production of Legally Blonde, in which Shelby plays Elle, and Toni spends the whole time silently crying next to Martha and Rachel because Shelby looks so happy to be performing.
Then, Andrew moves back to town after being gone less that a year, and him and Shelby pick up where they left off. Everyone just kind of watches in bewilderment as they walk the halls like nothing happened in the time they were broken up.
It gets harder for Toni to keep up the appearance of being even remotely okay. She starts lashing out at people and getting panicky when she sees blonde hair, because there’s no way she could handle a spontaneous encounter at this point.
One day, on her way to class, she sees Andrew kiss Shelby and she feels like she can’t breathe. When she finally sits at her desk, she’s shaking and hyperventilating slightly. She’s angry to the point of feeling guilty. She knows she should be happy for her friend, but she can’t be, no matter how hard she tries.
Shelby catches her crying a few times, but doesn’t say anything about it. She just watches with a look of concern in her eyes. That’s what hurts Toni the most, if she’s honest. The fact that Shelby can’t ever bring herself to say something.
She’s spiraling, and she knows that Shelby knows.
- - - - - - - - -
“Did you want to talk about it, or did you just want comfort?” Toni sets a mug of hot chocolate down in front of Shelby and gently sits down next to her.
Shelby exhales shakily. “I’m... I’m okay with talking about it.”
Toni nods and a brief silence falls between them. “What even happened, Shelby?”
The blonde sniffles and runs a hand through her hair.
“After you left, I was kind of panicking. I was thinking about everything you said and about my whole life. Like, how everything is empty and conditional and meaningless. So, I just kinda paced and panicked until Andrew got homes, and, uh... when he got home... I broke up with him. I told him the truth, because, even though he was never honest about all those girls he was with,” Toni mutters something about him being a motherfucker and how she never liked him, “he deserved the truth from me, considering we were engaged and all. I told him a l- that I’m gay and he gathered some of his things and left.” She laughs bitterly before continuing. “And I guess he called my parents, because they, uh, showed up, and that went basically exactly how I expected.”
Toni wraps her arms around the now crying girl and, once again, just holds her. “I’m so sorry. Shelby.” Shelby sniffles and pulls her head up from Toni’s chest. “It’s okay. I mean, it isn’t right now, and it probably won’t be for a while, but it will be eventually. And I’m going to get to start actually being me, and I figure that what really matters, y’know?”
Toni just gives her a small smile and a kiss on the forehead.
“I’m so proud of you, Shelbs. You should probably head to bed. You’ve had a long night. I’m going to stay down here on the couch. We can talk more when you wake up.”
- - - - - - - - -
It’s late on a Saturday night when Nora mentions that Shelby is moving away for college.
She drops the information casually while her and Toni are in Fatin’s backyard, at a party neither of them really wanted to attend.
“So what are you going to do when Shelby’s gone next year?”
Toni furrows her eyebrows. She has no clue what Nora’s talking about. And Shelby’s basically gone anyway.
“What?”
Nora tilts her head to the side and looks at Toni curiously. “Next year, when Shelby goes back to Texas for school? What are you going to do?”
Toni feels her heart drop to her stomach. Yeah, it already feels like Shelby’s gone, but she’s physically here, and if she’s physically here, Toni can see her. Even though it makes her feel like she’s being torn into pieces, seeing the blonde is the thing that makes her get out of bed most days. It’s becoming borderline obsessive on Toni’s part, if she’s being honest. She knows it’s not healthy, but she can’t ever think of anything else. It’s like her brain had been submerged in Shelby. Like the blonde had covered every surface and filled every hole and seeped into the very tissue her brain’s made of.
“Shelby’s moving?”
Nora’s eyes go wide. “Yeah. I thought you knew. I figured she would have told you.”
She can feel herself beginning to panic.
“Yeah, you’d think. I have to go, Nora.”
As she gets up and begins frantically making her way through Fatin’s packed house, in search of Shelby, she feels like she’s locked in a tiny room that’s slowly closing in on her.
No matter where she looks, there’s no sign of the blonde. She stumbles into Fatin and quickly stops the taller girl.
“Fatin, where’s Shelby? I need tp talk to her.” Fatin looks at her quizzically. “Dude, she left like twenty minutes ago.” Toni just nods and heads for the door.
It’s about half an hour later when she finds herself in the Goodkind backyard, throwing rocks at Shelby’s window like some jackass in a romcom.
The window opens and the blonde pops her head out. “Toni? What in the world are you doing? It’s two in the morning!”
Toni’s hands are shaking and her eyes are frantic. “Please let me in, I need to talk to you right now.”
Shelby sighs and closes her window, coming downstairs to let Toni in.
When they get into Shelby’s room and close the door, Toni cuts to the chase. “You’re moving?” Shelby sighs and fixes her eyes to the ground. “Yes.”
Toni grabs her hands. “Why didn’t you tell me? I had to find out through Nora.” She’s trying to keep her voice calm, but she’s worried it isn’t going to plan. Shelby finally looks into her eyes. “I knew it was going to upset you, so I wanted to leave it for as long as possible. I didn’t want to upset you.” Toni balls her hands up into fists. “So you were just going to wait until you were about to leave to tell me.” Shelby’s eyes return to the ground. “I guess, yeah.”
Toni moves away from Shelby, feeling tears in her eyes. “Jesus Christ, Shelbs.”
“Look, I’m sorry Toni. I was trying not to hurt you again, but that clearly didn’t work.”
Toni sighs. “I get it, it’s just... I’m not ready to fully lose you. I’m not ready to lose you more than I already have. I don’t think I could handle it, Shelb-”
She’s cut off by Shelby crashing her lips into hers. When the blonde pulls away, she makes direct eye contact with Toni. “You will never lose me. I promise.”
It’s the night before Shelby leaves that they see each other in person for the last time for years.
After weeks of Toni crying quietly anytime she thought of her, Shelby comes over to say goodbye.
She hugs Toni tight against her chest. “I will never not love you. I can promise you that. I know I haven’t always kept my promises, but this one? I absolutely will.”
When she pulls out of the hug, Toni just stares at her with wide eyes, asking a silent question. Asking if Shelby means it like Toni hopes she does.
Shelby understands and just gives her a nod. Toni stares back at her, frozen.
The blonde steps back. “Well, this is ‘see you later,’ I suppose.” She turns to walk away and Toni grabs her arm.
“I love you too.”
Shelby smiles fondly and genuinely. “I know.”
She walks back to her car and drives away.

When Toni wakes up, Shelby is cooking in the kitchen. The blonde turns around and smiles. “Hey, sleepyhead.”
Toni smiles back just as big.
They eat breakfast, just making small talk, but it’s not forced like it was the day before.
Shelby sets down her fork. “We should probably talk about yesterday.” Toni nods. “Yeah, we probably should. How are you feeling about everything?”
The Texan sighs. “Not great. I feel... alone, if I’m honest. I kinda am alone now, I guess. But the fact that I don’t have tp keep pretending and lying and working so damn hard is freeing in a way.”
Toni nods. “I can understand that. I’ve never been through it personally, but, like, that makes sense to me.”
It feels like it’s not enough, but it seems to put Shelby at ease a little.
She grabs the brunette’s hand. “Thank you for being here, Toni. I know it can’t be easy, considering, y’know, everything.”
“We’ve had our ups and downs for sure. And it’s kinda been years of downs. But there’s no world where I wouldn’t be here for you, Shelbs.”
Shelby smiles a big genuine smile. “I don’t know that I’m ready to jump into anything right now, because everything’s new to me, but I need you to know that I love you, and that, as soon as I’m ready, I’m yours. If you want me.”
Toni smiles back even bigger. “I will always want you, Shelby. I always have.”
