Hit The Road
Chapter Seven
previous chapter next chapter
Summary: You are a hunter of supernatural beings who is forced to experience a new reality: being a vampire. The only thing stronger than your thirst for blood is your thirst for revenge.
Author's note: the characters mentioned here were created by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the book series of the same name by author L. J. Smith. They don't belong to me. That said, this fanfic will be short. This fanfic may address scenes of violence, inappropriate language and adult content. Minors should not interact with this story. In this chapter there will be some flashbacks, whenever the lettering style is different; it will be a memory. Also some information here is not in the order of the series or the same way it happened in the series. I'm changing some things to fit the fanfic story. Hope you like it!

You're standing in front of Stefan's car while he's talking to Caroline on the phone. It took about twenty minutes for him to convince her to go get the cure for werewolf. The name Klaus Mikaelson is said a few times during the conversation between Caroline and Stefan. It seems that she finds it curious that Stefan wants her to go after Klaus when she was involved only a short time ago romantically with Stefan. You can't help but think that if Caroline didn't seem to like you when she thought you was involved with Damon, imagine when she finds out that you slept with her ex?
"Caroline, this is much bigger than you and me. It's about saving the lives of two people, one of them is my brother and your best friend's ex. If you can soften Klaus' heart, I would appreciate it." Stefan speaks softly, like he's not nervous but his hands have been shaking since he rescued me and saw the werewolf bite. You are curious about why your imminent death disturbs this Salvatore's mind so much. Maybe he is remembering you, and the past you lived together.
"Thank you so much for agreeing to help, I owe you one. And tell Tyler that I'm in the middle of the highway where I found Damon's car and Y/N. " Stefan speaks seconds before ending the call, while you are standing outside the car admiring the bite mark becomes increasingly ugly on your arm. Your arm hurts like you're burning inside, and it doesn't look the best. You're trying to stay strong, you want to find Damon and help Stefan.
"Do you think she'll be able to talk this guy Mikaelson into helping us?" You ask a little suspicious that someone so powerful would help you in exchange for nothing.
"He will probably ask for something in return, you must be prepared. I don't know if he doesn't know you, if he does You'll probably owe him. But don't worry, I'll do my best to cover you in this." Stefan says, with a confidence that you admire. Maybe his brother and you will end up dying today but he seems to really believe we're going to get out of this.
"Listen, if we don't have another chance... I want you to know that I remembered you. I actually remembered us." You say with a little hope that he will remember you. You don't know how, or why you want him to look at you and say he recognizes you, but you deeply desire that Stefan remember what you felt for each other.
"What exactly did you remember?" Stefan asks, not seeming confused or lost. It appears he wants to know what you recalled because he's curious. Could he have started to believe that you both shared a romance?
"I remembered that you and I had a passion. Something somewhat forbidden because we got involved after I had been with your brother, but I feel like I truly wanted you. My heart seems to remember you more than my memory can convey." You respond hesitantly. You fear he may not have felt the same way or that he may never remember you.
"I also remembered something. You and I in a forest, bathing in a waterfall or something similar. It was like I could feel that moment, as if being with you made me feel alive." Stefan speaks, looking directly at you while he's crouched on the ground, checking the tire, and you're standing with your arms crossed in front of the car.
"I would really like to die knowing how much you meant to me..." You say softly, almost as if speaking to yourself. However, Stefan stands up immediately, facing you. You try to avoid Stefan's gaze by looking away, but he places both hands on your face, directing your gaze back to him.
Stefan doesn't wait another second and passionately kisses you, as if he wants this moment to be unforgettable. You respond to the kiss, running your hands through Stefan's hair. You end up climbing on top of the car, with your legs wrapped around Stefan's waist. At that moment you realized that you missed him, you missed his body close to yours, you missed feeling like he wanted you. The kiss is only interrupted when you hear the sound of a car approaching. Stefan looks over his head and sees someone he knows, as he waves at the person to come closer.
"What's the plan to find your bloodsucking brother?" A man speaks coming towards the two of us as we compose ourselves. When you are about to say something, you feel a weakness take over you, while your conscience drifts away. You lose your breath as you feel your body fall to the ground.
"Love is not something we choose, Stefan. Obviously, I didn't choose to love you and your brother. So don't you dare call me confused." you shout as you angrily walk into the cabin. Stefan is right behind you, trying to hold you back. You slam the cabin door in his face. He follows you into the cabin and you regret the day you let him into it.
"You didn't let me finish talking, but between you and me, it's at least strange that you're in love with me and him. You said yourself that you would never do that." Stefan says while holding your arm, trying to turn you towards him. But you take the wooden stake and it almost sticks in his chest.
"You compared me to the doppelgangers, and then what do you want me to do, suck you under a tree to celebrate the fact that you think I like all this?" You speak furiously but Stefan doesn't take you seriously. He smiles maybe because you mentioned a blowjob or maybe because he likes to irritate you.
"I love it when you get angry and say something dirty like it's nothing. It's just that you don't know what it's like to know that you'll hardly be loved by a woman without her loving your brother." Stefan says, his tone revealing a mix of frustration and vulnerability.
"I love you. Even though it would be easier not to. It would be easier to love your brother and stick to the agreement you and I made to sleep together without getting attached. I'll love you even while loving your brother. Because you're worth the risk. I'm sorry if this isn't ideal for you." You finish speaking with such intensity that you don't feel the tears streaming down your face, but you know you're crying.
"You didn't understand. As bad as it might be, even in hell, your love would be one of the best things that ever happened to me." Stefan says, wiping away your tears. You look at him with such sincerity that you get lost in Stefan's gaze. You then lean in to kiss him. You want him, and even though it's wrong, you want to keep making this mistake.
You wake up again in Stefan's car, in the passenger seat. You're on a dark road that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. You slowly lift your head, feeling a pain coursing through your entire body. Stefan looks apprehensive, even though he's focused on the road. You finally turn fully towards him to let him know that you've regained consciousness.
"You blacked out for an hour, which is quite impressive for a vampire. You also mumbled things, as if dreaming about me, and seemed really upset, so I thought it best to let you rest." Stefan says, glancing sideways at you. His gaze carries a mix of concern and relief as he continues driving along the dark road.
"These visions, when mixed with a bite that's slowly killing me, can be incredibly intense. I almost feel like I'm human again." You say, adjusting yourself in the car seat, while a strange taste lingers in your mouth, as if someone fed you blood while you were unconscious.
"They must have been really intense; you were thrashing against the car seat. I told you it was better for you to stay home." Stefan says, sounding concerned. You find it a bit overprotective but romantic. He keeps driving, maintaining a watchful gaze on the dark road ahead, the worry lingering in his eyes.
"And who will protect you while you play the hero? If I'm going to die, let it be helping what might have been the great loves of my life." You add, the weight of the situation evident in your words. Stefan's expression softens, realizing the gravity of your sacrifice.
The car comes to a sudden stop, startling you. Stefan, who was following the car in front of you, seems to brace for the worst. You realize the warehouse in front of you must be the place where Damon is. Stefan prepares to get out of the car, while you struggle unsuccessfully to exit.
"Stefan, the door is locked. I hope you're not planning on leaving me here." You almost shout, using all the strength you have to try and exit the car with your vampire abilities. Whether it's weakness from the bite or not fully recovering from your fall, you seem unable to get out.
Stefan looks at you, murmuring a "sorry" as if it could make a difference. The humiliation fuels your anger, giving you the willpower to make another attempt at escaping the car. This guy Tyler seems to be helping Stefan with this situation. But something in you says you need to go there. Maybe it's death warning you that you need to go to the Salvatore brothers. You concentrate enough to kick Stefan's car door away. You feel like your strength is fading but you resist. Damon and Stefan need you, that's what your conscience says.
When you enter the warehouse Stefan is holding a werewolf by the neck and breaking its neck. Tyler is beating up two other werewolves, while Damon...
Damon is bleeding, trapped in what appears to be two bear traps, he has blood marks all over his body. His expression is one of pain, you feel like your heart would break just looking at him. One werewolf continues to torture him, using a wooden weapon and piercing Damon. You don't see anything in front of you, you just kill what appears in front of you. When you finally get to Damon, stick the gun that the werewolf was using it to hurt Damon and shoves it down the werewolf's throat. Damon looks at you with passion, and for the first time since you rediscovered him after losing your memory, you feel that Damon truly loves you.
"You kept your promise..." Damon murmurs, almost breathless. You release him from the trap, and he roars in pain. Offering your shoulder for support, you help him lean on you.
"What promise?" Is all you manage to say before seeing an arrow pierce Damon's abdomen.A werewolf shot that arrow to hit you but Damon got in front. He fell to the ground as blood came out of his mouth. You fear that Damon will die, you don't want to lose his love. When you kneel on the floor and see Damon agonizing in pain, you feel like your world is rocked. You knock the arrow out of Damon and shout to Stefan, who can give Damon his blood to drink. You look at Damon, who seems to be recovering from the arrow. You got the feeling as if a weight is leaving your shoulder. And then in the midst of it all you feel something warm come out of your nose when you touch it; see blood. And then you loses consciousness.
Tumblr media
"Marry me?" Damon suggests, as you stand there waiting for him to explain why he's standing in front of your cabin in the middle of the night.
"You just came from a date with your girlfriend, and now you want to marry your second option?" You say, still recovering from your interrupted sleep.
"I was with my EX-girlfriend at a ball that I committed to attend long before breaking up with her, but that's not the point. I can't get you out of my head and my heart. So, marry me." Damon says, his voice holding a mix of sincerity and urgency as he awaits your response.
"Marriage for what reason? You're not even a human, for God's sake." You say, finding it hard to believe that this is happening now.
"Because you're human, and I want that commitment with you. I'll repeat, marry me?" Damon insists, his gaze fixed on you with a sense of determination.
"I do, Damon. If you want me to say I accept you in sickness and in health, even though you won't get sick. I promise to be by your side in richness and in poorness, but as you're a vampire, you must be rich. And all of this until death do us part. But death has already parted us, so..." Before you can finish, he interrupts you with a kiss.
"Do you promise to sacrifice your life if I need help?" Damon adds, as if he's truly conducting a wedding ceremony.
"I promise. Do you promise to protect me from anything that tries to harm me?" You say, looking at him, totally enchanted.
"I promise. I guess we're husband and wife now. You're a Salvatore and I am your husband." Damon says, kissing you intensely and entering the cabin with you.

Super Loose Dragon age Origin OC breakdown sheet
My computer's been dead (and still kind of is) for a month after... the milk incident, so I've only had the opportunity to play through Partha, and I do want to re-run her since she was my first playthrough. All of these come with a grain of salt and a lot of opportunity to be changed Warden Partha Aeducan: True to the Dwarf Noble Origin, kings Alistair, Romances Morrigain (bi rights), and does the dark ritual. The Leader. The World's most cringefail trans girl boss princess <3. She's an incredibly strong and fierce warrior, a real shit brickhouse as far as dwarves go, but also really mentally not doing well, and she expends a lot of energy not confronting this. She's remarkably successful, it's just that she's guessing the entire time and a lot of her choices go against her own, or her friends' wishes, in the name of the "Greater Good," but what that means to her is really unclear. She is so desperate to protect everyone and save Ferelden because she knows its right, but she doubts every choice she makes and so many "good" choices cause a lot more pain. She begins her journey feeling unloved, put-upon and lost and ends her journey feeling unloved, put-upon, and lost <3. She's also batshit a little and spends a lot of time doing really risky shit in a half-hearted attempt to chase death in a very Zevran-esque way aha. She comes out of the Blight an extremely weird unsettling person, and I do spend a lot of time jumping the shark with her. She drinks that weird bottle at Solider's Peak and does The Golems of Amgarrak stuff, if that explains anything. She's a ball of knots and hard to explain quickly. Mingrin: Partha's dog. Really cool guy and good boy.
Warden Judpha: Dwarf Commoner, not Brosca, thruple with Zevran and Killian. Grew up in Dust Town and was the guardian to his niece from a young age and broke when she was murdered. He's effectively ripped apart in Ostagar, and this leaves him short an arm and a leg. His Ostagar trauma makes him entirely unwilling to face the Dark Spawn. Jud start off pretty coarse - particularly with Partha, who he bitterly refers to as "Peace-Keeper" - and he softens up over time. He learns to read and write and becomes the sort of book-keeper of the group.
Warden Killian Tabris: True to the Elf Commoner Origin, thruple with Zevran and Judpha. Killian's a little less developed than the other two, but she's also pretty prickly. She dislikes Partha and Alistair because of their highborn status. She tends to lead a secondary party. I think her story is about her growing from jaded and act-first-questions-later to a more tempered and empathetic leader, as she's left to be Commander of the Grey after Partha disappears. I think Jud and Zevran allow her to soften up and relax a bit. I think she'll probably parallel Partha in a lot of ways. She joins at the same time as Alistair. Warden (Unnamed so far) Mahariel: Likely true to Elf Dalish origin. He'll likely spend a lot of time on the side lines. He joins at the same time as Partha and, when he finds himself entirely alone at Ostagar, goes "why would i die for a bunch of people who don't give two shits about me when I can go home and help my clan??" and immediately high tails it. He comes back up when the wardens come to the Dalish and find him. He gets turned into a werewolf and at the end of it he probably choses to stay and help prepare the Clans for the Dark spawn. He isn't meant to come across as a coward, but just as someone who, rightfully, is more concerned with the immediate future of his loved ones rather than a more abstract Series of Misadventures to Maybe? Save the World. Not to mention, he's alone right off the bat and has no context on how to be a warden.
Warden Surana and Warden Cousland (also both unnammed): Both mostly true to Human Noble & Elf Circle. They're more of a MacGuffin. They're both slightly older wardens than Alistair & Killian. Warden Surana and Cousland survived Ostagar (Likely alongside Killian and Judpha) and immediately went into action. They presume the old treaties are lost with Alistair and decide to go to Soldier's Peak to try and find some sort of hope. When Civil War pressures get real, Cousland makes a plan to use his Nobility status to wed Anora and reign some things back into place. This is what sends Partha on the path to wedding Alistair to Anora. When The Party get to Soldier's Peak, Cousland has been killed and likely so has Warden Surana.
Ameira Surana: Sister to Warden Surana and another Circle Elf. Romances Alistair. She is a prodigious young mage who spent much of her life in her sister's shadow. This allowed her to get away with what she wanted in peace. I forget which exactly was the specific character issue that sent her down her path, but after her sister and Jowan bounce, she does become a practicing Blood mage. she keeps this under wraps for a while and eventually saves Judpha's life with it, so he doesn't say anything about it. She joins the party with Wynne to help the Wardens and eventually falls in love with Alistair, and it's really sweet and smooth up until Partha and Eamon make moves to wed Anora and Alistair. Alistair breaks up with Ameira to try and spare her from everything that is going on. Ameira, devastated by the last 2 years' shenanigans' like every one else, does eventually fireball-blood magic the shit out of Partha and Anora and Judpha is like "hm yeah i guess i should've said something sooner."

The arrival of 2 new helpers Pt. 3
Finally, the final part of this story. I hoped you enjoyed it! (The next story will be posted next)
Part 1:
Part 2:
Once the two girls got to the cafeteria, they went to get their food. After that, the girls looked around for a seat. They sat down at one of the seats, that aren't taken by anyone else. Amra sat next to her sister and they both began eating their food. but a few moments later, Adri started up an conversation.
"Uhh… Amra" Her sister called out to Amra which got her attention. Amra looked at her and wondered why she called her. "Do yo think it's weird the the puppets are moving by themselves?" Amra then Nodded her head faster than normal signaling that she definitely agrees. "Like- there is nothing supporting them to stand up or something like that? How do they even do all of these things? do they contain Human substance or maybe they have robotic parts and very good AI?" Adri went on and on asking these kinds of questions while Amra listens.
A boy their age came up to them and asked them if they can sit down with them. the girls allowed him to do so. Once he sat down he introduced himself to the girls. "I'm Matthew, but you can call me Matt for short, and what are your names?" "Hey I'm Adri and that's my little sister, Amra. She doesn't talk to newer people but she'll warm up to it" She introduced herself and her sister to the boy. "So You're both new here, right?" the boy asked "Yep, this is our first day" she replied to the boy as she kept eating her food.
"How was it? Was it good lately?" Matt asked them "It was good" Adri said and Amra nodded her head. "But strange" Adri then added "I mean, what I've noticed is that the puppets move and talk on their own. No puppeteer at all." she explains the reason why she found it strange. Matthew also thought of that to during his first day "But I've heard a rumor about how this happened." he said
Before she took another bite of her food she told him to tell her the rumor. "Ok, so it had began a long time ago. Owen Gubberson, the creator of the show he wanted his puppets to come to life. so he bought a book about voodoo spells or something like that and casted the spell on the puppets and the-" Matthew told her before he got interrupted by someone.
"Well, well, well if it isn't my good friend Matthew." a girl said and and a boy came up next to her "Spreading that rumor about our grandfather again?" the boy asked the other boy who's sitting down. "oh h-hey Olivia and Oliver, yeaahh I told them its a rumor in the studio" the boy said sheepishly. The girl and boy looked at the two sisters
"You must be the new helpers, I'm Olivia, and this is my brother, Oliver" the girl introduced her brother and herself. "And you are?" the boy added. "My name's Adri, and that's my sister, Amra" "Hmm.. Amra? That's a pretty name I'd say" Olivia complimented her younger sister. Amra got a little flustered and signed "Thank you" to her.
"Using sign language I see, Thankfully you're quite lucky that some of us understand" Oliver said as he looks over to Matthew with a smug face. "Hey! at least I understood the basics of it" he called out to the other boy as the Oliver grinned at him." Olivia placed he hand on Amra's shoulder "Hopefully we'll work together, Amra" she said as they both left their table.
"Wait, Did one of them mention that their grandfather is Owen Gubberson or is it just me?" Adri asked the two just to make sure. "Yep, that's Olivia and Oliver Gubberson, they're twins" Amra took out her notepad and pen out of her pocket and wrote down 'I see, they might know how these puppets are alive too' and showed it to both her sister and her new friend. "Definitely, I mean, they're somewhat part of this maybe. but we'll see."
Mean while Riley and Nick were chatting in the lab. "So let me get this straight, my assistance niece is related to your helper!" Riley raised her voice at the artist "Yes, but hear me out on this, she isn't that bad. She might have the same interests as me but I'll assure you that you two could get along too." Nick said as he tries to calm the scientist down.
Riley calms down and then asks another question to Nick. "Well what do you think about the new helper you were with?" "hmm… Well, she's quite shy maybe. I mean she doesn't really talk. heck, I didn't even hear anything from her, Not even a hum. But she could have an insecurity about her voice or she's just shy in general. But other than that she's, well, nice to interact with." He answered while leaning on the wall of the lab.
Nick starts to ask the same question to Riley "She was great I'd say. I could definitely see that she is very interested in science and all of the methodical stuff. Its strange but good in a way cause most teens usually don't like these things."
"So… basically another you?" Nick assumed "Well, You could say that" Riley responds to Nick. "Same thing for me, Same interests but a few differences" Nick Nack commented "Oh you can say that." Riley said as she rolls her eyes to Nick showing signs that what he had said was completely obvious to her. "I'll be in my studio where I'll get ready for the next shoot. Bye bye" Nick Nack said as he left Riley's lab and went back to his studio.
When the three teens were finished with their meals they all head to the filming floor and went to up to help arrange the set ups or maybe even help the puppets to get ready. While Amra was helping Nick with something, Amra felt someone tapped her shoulder.
"Well Amra, we meet again" Olivia unexpectedly greeted her which made her jump a little. Amra waved a her just to say hi to her. "It's delighted to see you again, Olivia" "Thank you Nick so how are you two doing?" Olivia asked the both of them "We're doing really good and I could tell you all about it later on!" Nick said happily as Amra signed 'doing really well' to her. but before she could say another word, someone shouted for her name. "Olivia Can you help your father out?" her father shouted from the distance. "I have to go do something see ya" she said as fast as possible and rushed to help her father.
When Nick and Amra were finished also went out of the set up. They went outside and saw Harold Gubberson, the new CEO with Mortimer Handee in his hand. Mortimer turned around then notices both Nick and Amra. "Ahh yes, it's one of our new volunteers we have here!" Amra Waved and smiled at the both of them "This is Amra, she doesn't talk, at least not yet" Nick provided some context to Mortimer and Harold. "Heh, Don't worry about, that, it's ok, we have people who were like that before." Harold assured the girl as he pat her on the shoulder.
"Well we got to film this now so let's go" Nick reminded them and Amra agreed and nodded her head to the men in front her. As the left, Nick and Amra followed and they separated. Amra was behind the cameras and Nick was at the side of the set up.
When the job was done for today, The helpers stayed here and cleaned the area. Amra was cleaning the main set up. Adri cleaned up the lab and Matthew cleaned up Daisy's set up. Amra then heard some one say "Hi" it was Olivia again. Olivia then helped Amra with the cleaning. "I saw you were getting along with the one of the puppets very well" Olivia told Amra "Which is a good thing and I like it. So sign to me, how'd you get along well very quick?" Amra then signs out her reply 'Mainly we get along because we have the same interests.
"Hm.. makes sense" she responded" then they kept on cleaning and rearranging things. When it was time for the sisters to leave. Adri said her goodbyes while her sister waved goodbye to the puppets and her friends she and her sister just met. Nick Nack called for Amra before she leaves which caught everyone's attention. "Thank you for helping me, Amra" Nick thanked the girl before she leaves then sha gave an A-Ok sign to signal 'no problem' to him. Then left the floor. Once they were on the lobby they all said goodbye to Robin and went back to their car. 'What a strange but a good first day' Amra thought to herself when she got on the car.

Leverage Redemption Log: The Mastermind Job
So... a Nate episode without Nate (im fairly certain that, between the pharma pricegouger and episode 1, this is our third Nate Episode) dealing with his legacy. Maybe maybe we'll actually steal that cure for Sam's sickness he lied about in the Long Goodbye?
--- So some d-bag is stealing all Leverages heists and making a schlocky movie script of it? (also Sophie wasnt in that heist, if this is meant to be the first heist but that is either a plotpoint of the Writer not having his stuff right, or an "actor too busy" issue) D-bag is standing in a warehouse with various relics (anubis head amongst them), "this is exactly what i need". My prediction: He's smuggling stolen goods, and is gonna pass off his stolen goods as props for a movie he's making to get them across country borders. --- Its an aniversary for Sophie, (unknown as of yet if its birthday, wedding to Nate or if its been a whole year already and its a death-iversary). Elliot is annoyed that he's getting shorted in the book version of their cons and heists. Parker is annoyed it gives her credit (understandable, she's pragmatic and understands that anonymity is a thieves greatest asset, being "legendary" is justifiably an insult in her mind) Ok, so someone is trying to take credit for the team, first guess would be Dubenich but he's sort of at the bottom of a cliff.
Sophie isnt in the book (which means the version of the heist where she was substituting Hardison is now a DOUBLE plothole) Its a "wedding aniversary. (was the most likely but i didnt want to stake a bet) Its a "first time insurance-frauding"-versary. --- Debriefing time. Guy doesnt exist legally, he's probably a corporate construct of a corporate construct.
So we have our FakeNate, (he looks... unimpressive), Guy doesnt even know his own stories, i'm gonna say "paid actor, bodydouble and/or patsy".
I like plan B. (turns out, Im wrong about parkers dislike. She thinks a reputation makes things too easy, its not about pragmatism its about spoiling the chase) I like that we're conning him by simply stating the blatantly obvious about how deep of a shithole he's dug for himself. --- Harry coming in as the "hero" of our story. And narcotic darts. Actually Breanna, the specific politics of the country might be relevant. --- Ok King "even I am sick of how many titles i have" wants him to steal a jewel from his ex-wife.
Oh nice, mastermind has enough human decency (and just little enough brain) to make things worse for Harry.
Ok so he's an accountant from Nate's old job and he (presumably) is trying to ensure that Nate's legacy is remembered in his own dumb way. Nope he's doing a messed up vicarious escapism thing instead, (darn and here i was hoping we were getting a likeable mark again)
--- So Harry is back to being tied up, but he has a taser. (Parkers favourite at that)
So obviously the accountants boredom powers are gonna be key to solving this. (never underestimate the power of boring competence,) Also the "wrong form" is definitly intentional, she's betting on it vanishing soon because she knows her ex-husband is gonna try and steal it. (its definitly a fake, she knows that it'll be stolen by her ex and even if IYS finds out that the display model is a fake... she'll claim its a distraction because she knows Zafir is coming to steal it so why leave the real one out when she can just put it in a safe.)
Sophie is confronting the accountant about the whole "did Nate never mention me" thing. --- Harry coming in with the "unionise the guards" scheme yet again by reminding the armed militia goons that the king is broke until he steals the jewel in an attempt to divide and conquer. (note, i dont think this is a good plan. Because it is only gonna make them shoot up the museum and steal the scarab by force... sure it'll prevent the king from overthrowing the democracy but its not ideal) Parker has baloons and is casing the jewels. (note: Baloons=helium, they are going to be used to keep the presure equal or something) --- Elliot going in for the Seduction Play. Oh bodyguard romance... classic, someone's been learning to cover Sophie's position in the inbetween. Unfortunaly, even a critical success can have its complications and Elliots orders to "put as many nobles in 1 room with you so your Ex doesnt Uzi you cause he needs the legitimacy the other nobles can provide him" means that the duchess of Hanover is being locked in that same room with him. (its gonna be up to John Utterson to save the day) --- Harry is getting the militia a nice retirement fund. (paid from the kings Swiss Bank account)
And the penny has dropped for the accountant. the accountant walks like a cartoon. Speaking of cartoons, Parkers helium voice. And the accountant is back to being kidnapped by Former-King Zafir the soon-to-find-out-he-is-in-fact-quite-goonless. --- At this point i feel the need to ask a question: Who is dumber. The accountant who decided to pretend he's Nate. Or Zafir, who thinks he's dealing with Nate Ford and decided to seek out leverage of his own free will despite being, well an autocratic dictator who intends to commit a bunch of warcrimes. --- Ok so the accountant isjoining the international branch as sort of a "Harry understudy". never thought i'd see a guy named Milton in a tv show without it being a Paradise Lost reference.

Chapter 184
wow looks like things are about to get real sucky, anyway, what's going on rn-
Tumblr media
I'm disappointed I can't see the names in the book, but I guess that would be too obvious heh. well, as long as yana doesn't pull us around the block, I'm pretty sure the direct message is that something is going to happen to Bard or (most likely) Ada, like in the next couple of minutes.
though it's also possible that Ronald isn't looking for Ada or Bard in his list, but rather listening into their conversation to see if they mention any aurora members or possible bizarre dolls that he may note. that's the optimistic option atleast.
Tumblr media
I tried looking at the cover image to see if there was any common time being displayed on the watches, but they all seem to be random and artsy so no help. I can't even see the time on ronald's watch in the panel because the image is too blurry for me. but welp, the hour glass that's visable in the cover is about to run out so if that's any indication ig, nothing we don't already know.
Tumblr media
I also tried to zoom into this person's face, all I can kinda make out is a possible blond beard? that's nothing though, so I assume it's just some random member.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is some good character work in only short chapters that we have (and probably will :[ ) know her. Ada is just like Ryan really, too blind sighted by her desire and good will that she'll willingly be oblivious to the underlying harm and corruption. kinda reminds me of how I wondered if Ada had met Ryan since she used the Phoenix pose. but I doubt it, or doubt we'll ever know.
Tumblr media
2 things:
1. what did he just do? at first I thought he was holding a gun, but it aggravated me that I can't see his hand. maybe it's either a surprise for the next chapter or yana just really wanted to zoom in on that sweet smexy visage. but now, especially looking at his posture, I'm thinking that he just threw something, a couple of small sharp and projectile objects. unfortunately, I have no idea what they might be. could be something for the facility or something he smuggled in.
2. what's he planning to do here exactly? not only am I a little confused about his motive(it's been too long, I can't remember why he can't just wait another day), but I'm also confused about what he's doing right now. my biggest bet is that he's already set *something*(explosion most likely, whatever kills most and efficiently) up where Ada and the rest are while bard was having his sob story, and now he's just stalling bard until the timer goes off. cause unless he has some secret martial arts skills, I don't think he's gonna best Bard in a fight. I always see him as the sly type rather than physical.
anyway, point blank, things are about to get really bad, I don't know why Lau is so eager to leave, some character traits I don't remember I guess, but I'm certain Ada and a bunch others are gonna die. dang...
I also can't imagine bard would ever agree to work with Lau again if they both come away unharmed. that would then mess up the whole phantomhive mission rn. oh god this is messy.
edit: OH MY GOD I JUST REMEMBERED WHERE'D THAT CREEPY KID GO???

Hello! I’ve read your post about Freaky Fred playing the important role in the ongoing the Cullens - Volturi confrontation. I completely agree with you about this one, and also have the other suggestion that you didn’t mention.
I can’t help but think that Fred is going to fall in love with Renesmee (I know she has Jacob, obviously, but still). There are several reasons why I think so, and here are some of them:
1. SM said that he’s going to appear on the second book, not in the first one, and the first one takes place 4-5 years after Breaking Dawn. I am not sure at what age Renesmee will look like at 4-5 years old, but presumably a teenager-little-too-early-to-fall-in-love-with. So I think in the first book she won’t be romantically interested in anyone, because she’s just too young for that. The next book, on the other hand, might continue with her being more mature and starting to realise the confusing relationship she is in with Jacob, so it’s a great place for the love triangle to happen.
2. Fred is a nice love interest material - he’s handsome and smart, and the fact that SM didn’t give him a mate in the Bree Tanner novella (although he was lonely all his life and deserved love too) just seems like a set-up for the future.
3. You mentioned that the Cullens might ask Fred to help them. But why would Fred, with all his I-don’t-care-about-anyone-just-leave-me-alone personality help them? He doesn’t know them, they are not his friends, they haven’t done him any favour (the opposite, actually - the Cullens are quite the reason why his friend Bree is dead). So only some strong emotion can make him agree to protect the family he couldn’t care less about. And this emotion could possibly be his love (or, at the starting point, attraction and curiosity) for Renesmee. The only question is if she’ll love him in return (though I’d like to see that, we still can’t do anything with Jacob unless SM would want to kill him, which I doubt she’ll do).
4. If Renesmee is in danger and needs to be hidden, all she has to do is just to stay with Fred wherever he is. His gift can hide her very well from the Volturi or any other danger. So in this case he’s a much better protector to her then Jacob will ever be.
5. Not the actual reason, but I watched some interviews from 2020 Midnight Sun promotion, and while talking about Fred, SM was smiling just so strangely, like she had something flagrant planned for him. And on other interview, when asked about vampire mates, she said that when you mate it’s forever, and you need to be very careful not to fall in love with a wrong person, because once you did, you’d never be able to change it. So, in this case, we may see Fred falling in love with someone who already loves another person, which as well can be Renesmee.
So that it, I can’t help but think it’s the direction the story might go to. Would be glad to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!
Hey ! Wow thanks for this ! It's been a long time since I read the second short life of bree tanner but i'll try to answer as much as i can :
1. The SECOND book ? What do you mean ? We're gonna get two books about Regurgitation ? I'm really surprised, I knew she was writing one, but I didn't know she had enough material for two (i'll buy both of them of course lol, i'm desperate for new material). Also maybe the reason she has so much material is bc she'll FINALLY expand on the conflict with the Volturis ? I have high expectations tbh.
Honestly, I think Renesmee is probably going to grow up and decide what kind of relationship she wants with Jake. Also Renesmee falling in love with another vampire (and one with a gift) is probably Jake's worst nightmare, especially if Fred is wanted by the Volturis. Jake's priority is Renesmee's safety, so of course he will be against her being in the vicinity of Fred, but then she'll probably argue that with that logic, she should stay away from Alice too... Anyway, there's gonna be angst. And arguments. Clearly the book can't just be about Renesmee's perfect life, there has to be some conflicts.
2. Fred is a perfect love interest, better than Jake imo. But of course, there's going to be some of the Cullens who will probably support Jake (not Rosalie tho, Rose will 100% root for Fred). I feel lile Renesmee's choice will be very important for the coven, weirdly.
3. I'm not sure he'll need a strong incentive like love to take part in the conflict/war/whatever Aro is preparing. He's distant to protect himself but I think he tends to get lonely and once he'll realize that the Cullens are different and not dangerous for him, he'll probably stay with them on his own. Plus, he may want to avenge Bree for what the Volturi did. I think Fred might also be interested in the kind of life the Cullens are living (and the adoption papers will be ready anyway, knowing esme). He's clever enough to understand that a nomad, hidden life has limitations and that he could live a better life with the Cullens or with the Denalis. I also think that because of the way he was turned and because of his first months as a newborn, he's probably not very ok with killing people.
And if he chooses the Cullens over the Volturis it will be a problem for Aro & co anyway bc they'll probably realize that their way of life is threatened. There are more and more "vegetarian" vampires so it will be a pb.
But I agree that Fred will be curious and try to understand why 8 vampires are living with 2 snacks hot blooded creatures. If he stays, and knowing how SM is, it's inevitable that he falls in love with Renesmee.
4. That will piss off Jake but I think he'll be the bigger person. He'll probably let Fred protect her and therefore get closer to her and omg now I WANT THIS SECOND BOOK i want to watch this unfold i want the DRAMA i hope sm delivers.
5. I wouldn't be surprised if the story gets to a love triangle and leads to Heartbreak Fred.
BUT i also kind of feel like sm is very aware of some of the Discourse about her story and that she wants to change some things, like clearly for example in midnight sun we can see that Renee-is-a-bad-mom got to SM and she clearly agreed or thought it was a good addition to the story and showed it through Ed. So maybe Jake-and-Renesmee-shouldn't-be-a-couple will get to her too. I hope so. She has an easy way out since the imprintee (or whatever the name for this) can "decide" of the nature of the relationship with the shapeshifter.
So Renesmee could still not want Jake as a bf, love Fred romantically and Jake ends up with Leah (or someone HIS AGE). But I feel like Jake and Renesmee won't happen. Well i hope so now that i've read your ask and thought a little bit lol
I hope my answer was good ! It's almost 1AM here so maybe it wasn't very clear, sorry ! Don't hesitate if you have other theories (or news about the new books???i wanna know) ! And sorry my answer is so long lol i got carried away

I'm not a fan of Miller's book, either. Seriously, what is it with writers pinning women against each other? It's even more confusing when it's a female writer doing it.
If it was just Perse and Pasipäe, okay. If you want to give Circe a bad home life, fine. But Miller does it constantly. Athena was done especially dirty imo. I know she can be pretty petty herself (ex: Arachne, and even then, the reason for turning her into a spider tends to vary), but the way she was portrayed was just so grating. So eager for a champion, I was almost convinced Miller had conflated her with Ares. I don't think the exiled nymphs are even given names, let alone distinguishing personalities, and can we stop dunking on Helen? The Iliad makes it pretty clear that she loved Menelaus and didn't think highly of Paris.
And tbh, the story kinda felt a little repetitive at times, too: Circe meets someone, they get mad at her or leave her, she'll occasionally sleep with someone, rinse and repeat. And granted, she's a pretty minor character in the myths already, but I feel like it would've benefited the story more if she had been given more freedom, that she wasn't restricted to just her island. At the very least, how awesome it would've been if Circe had essentially started her own coven before passing on the role as the head witch of Aiaia to Penelope.
Also, can we stop having sexual assault scenes if the story isn't about that? At least it gives Circe a reason to turn men into literal pigs, but still.
I also don't think it's ever really explained why Circe has a mortal voice, even though she has full Titan blood. She just does. Granted, Perse is a minor nymph, but then what about the rest of her children? I'd get it if it was meant to be an allegory for disabilities, but it just felt like it was added on for the sake of making Circe more of an outcast than she already was.
And this is really more of a nitpick, but for a book that focuses so heavily on witchcraft, it's strange that Hecate wasn't even mentioned. In some versions, she's even Circe's mother. It's also really weird how homosexuality seems to be something that was so uncommon in Ancient Greece as far as these books are concerned, even though we know from history and myth that it wasn't. So yeah, Circe x Penelope would've been pretty awesome!
Blegh, sorry for the rant! I just have alot of thoughts about this book right now! ^^"
ATHENA WAS DONE SO SO DIRTY...it makes no sense even in the telegony itself its her who urges circe to tell telegonus about odyessus. wouldn't it have been more interesting for athena to assist circe in raising telegonus? wouldn't it have been more tragic for telegonus to go kill odyessus at athena's urging of him to go meet him? and then yadda yadda athena and circe can have a falling out then or something yadda yadda i don't know again, i know the gods are written in very specific ways here for the ultimate theme of the book here but like this book is so hard on athena it's so weird when i think that honestly there could have been more interesting for her and circe to work together...
ALSO YEAH MADELINE MILLER HAS A HELEN PROBLEM...i think it was fairer in the song of achilles and i rationalized the helen weirdness in that one by going 'well they're achilles and patroclus of course they won't have choice opinions on helen if from their perspective she's the one that led them into this war' but come on..not in circe too..leave her alone...
and i agree the book really did feel repetitive, but if you're asking me i wish there was more exploration to the episodes circe does get-especially the stint at crete, i wish we had seen more of circe and ariadne's and even her and pasiphae's relationship so bad. they get one conversation where they talk and it was so good but it ends so soon. honestly i feel a lot of the conversations in the book are repetitive as well- someone talking to someone, they reveal something about something else, the first someone is surprised!
also yeah the assault is um. i did not think we needed that scene as explicit as it was but i get that that's routine in these sorts of books at this point...now i will say i don't think a book has to be about that sort of stuff if a book includes them but i do think it should be addressed with care and i dunno if that book does that....
ALSO YEAH...the mortal's voice thing is an epithet given to her in the odyssey without much preamble as to what implications that has or to where she got it from and i don't think the author really had to explain it to make the story work but it would...have been nice to see her come up with an interpretation of what exactly that means for circe
and no i don't think it's a nitpick, i feel the same way irt to the book and witchcraft but the witch i feel like got REALLY shifted was medea. i think there could have been sooo many good parallels with medea and circe here-while circe is hated by her divine family, medea is a darling of helios (and in a fair amount of medea myths she returns to colchis where she's presumably forgiven by aeetes, including that variant where she kills perses to reinstate her father on the throne. i wish that had been mentioned in circe; at least then perses would have a point). while circe becomes a mortal at the end of her story in circe, medea in euripides' medea becomes a goddess herself or close to it while also becoming more monstrous in the process. while circe is constantly accused of caring too much for mortals medea has a fair disregard for the lives of other people (maybe due to her powers to reverse mortality). there could have literally been so much said here not just about divinity and mortality but the boundaries that both circe and medea would cross for the sake of their love oh my god i have no idea why not only her episode in the book was so short but there was very little follow up to what happened with her story afterward ugauwerwherhe
also yeah irt to homosexuality i think it was implied? telegonus was gay which is chill but also come on...give us the iconic greek myth ladies wlw romances.....

Chapter Thirty-Six: Leon Regulus Sultens-Black.
HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED RETURNS
[...]Albus Dumbledore, newly reinstated headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, re-instated member of the International Confederation of Wizards, and reinstated Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, was unavailable for comment last night.
He has insisted for a year that You-Know-Who was not dead, as was widely hoped and believed, but recruiting followers once more for a fresh attempt to seize power. Meanwhile the Boy Who Lived —
"There you are, Harry, I knew they'd drag you into it somehow," Hermione interrupted.
"Of course they would," Erick rolled his eyes, he was sitting on the floor between the two beds, his back against Hermione's bed.
Now that all his Slytherin friends knew the truth, they had stopped talking to him, so Erick was now spending all his time with Mel.
"He's 'the Boy Who Lived' again now, though, isn't he? Not such a show-off maniac anymore, eh?" Ron grabbed a bunch of chocolate frogs from his bedside table and handed one to each.
He leaned over and stretched out his hand to Erick, the older boy stared down at the chocolate and then up to him, Ron waved it impatiently in front of his face and Erick grabbed it quickly.
"Yes, they're very complimentary about you now, Harry," Hermione agreed. "'A lone voice of truth... perceived as unbalanced, yet never wavered in his story... forced to bear ridicule and slander...' Hmm... I notice they don't mention the fact that it was them doing all the ridiculing and slandering, though... 'You-Know-Who's Last Attempt to Take Over, pages two to four, What the Ministry Should Have Told Us, page five, Why Nobody Listened to Albus Dumbledore, pages six to eight, Exclusive Interview with Harry Potter and Mel Dumbledore, page nine...' Well, it's certainly given them lots to write about. And that interview with Harry and Mel isn't exclusive, it's the one that was in The Quibbler months ago..."
"Daddy sold it to them," said Luna. "He got a very good price for it too, so we're going to go on an expedition to Sweden this summer and see if we can catch a Crumple-Horned Snorkack."
"...That sounds lovely," Hermione said after a short silence.
"So anyway, what's going on in school?"
"Well, Flitwick's got rid of Fred and George's swamp," said Ginny. "He did it in about three seconds. But he left a tiny patch under the window and he's roped it off —"
"Why?"
"Oh, he just says it was a really good bit of magic."
"I think he left it as a monument to Fred and George, they sent me all these, you know," Ron pointed at the bunch of Frogs. "Must be doing all right out of that joke shop, eh?"
 "I'll miss them..." Mel sighed.
"You can always buy a few of their products and set them around the school," Harry offered, "it'll feel as if they were still here."
She chuckled softly, around them the group shared confused and relieved glances. It wasn't exactly like before, but they could sense the friendly tones of their conversations, they had stopped fighting.
Although it didn't mean there wouldn't be fights later, they had pushed the conversation about their lifeline further into the future, right now they didn't have the energy to discuss life-changing matters.
"So has all the trouble stopped now Dumbledore's back?" Hermione asked.
"Yes, everything's settled right back down again," Neville nodded.
"I s'pose Filch is happy, is he?" asked Ron.
"Not at all! He's really, really miserable, actually..." Ginny lowered her voice. "He keeps saying Umbridge was the best thing that ever happened to Hogwarts..."
"If any of you feel like pranking Filch next year, let me know so I can look the other way," Erick joked.
All of them turned to see Professor Umbridge on the bed opposite Ron and Hermione's. Dumbledore had rescued her from the centaurs, nobody knew how, and Umbridge was out of it, therefore unable to speak.
"Madam Pomfrey says she's just in shock," Hermione explained.
"Sulking, more like," said Ginny.
"Yeah, she shows signs of life if you do this," said Ron, and with his tongue he made soft clip-clopping noises. Umbridge sat bolt upright, looking wildly around.
"Anything wrong, Professor?" called Madam Pomfrey, poking her head around her office door.
"No... no..." said Umbridge, sinking back into her pillows, "no, I must have been dreaming..."
Hermione and Ginny muffled their laughter.
"Serves her right," Mel scowled. "She caused a lot of suffering this year..."
She looked down at Harry's hand, and the boy moved it only to hold hers.
"Speaking of centaurs," Hermione spoke, causing Harry to retreat his hand abruptly, "who's Divination teacher now? Is Firenze staying?"
"He's got to, the other centaurs won't take him back, will they?" Harry shrugged.
"It looks like he and Trelawney are both going to teach," said Ginny.
"Bet Dumbledore wishes he could've got rid of Trelawney for good. Mind you, the whole subjects useless if you ask me, Firenze isn't a lot better..."
"How can you say that?" Hermione frowned. "After we've just found out that there are real prophecies? It is a pity it broke..."
"Yeah, it is. Still, at least You-Know-Who never found out what was in it either, it was clever of you to break it, Mel. Though you really shouldn't have used your hand to do so..."
"I think it made you look really tough," Erick smiled.
Mel returned his gesture tensely, she wished she could feel as calm as the rest of her friends, she wanted to go back to normal but she couldn't ignore what was about to happen once the school year ended, now her home had as many ghosts as the castle.
"Hey, where are you going?" Ron asked in a hurt voice when Harry stood up to leave.
"Er — Hagrid's. You know, he just got back and I promised I'd go down and see him and tell him how you two are..."
"Oh all right then," Ron grumbled. "Wish we could come..."
"Say hello to him for us!" said Hermione. "And ask him what's happening about... about his little friend!"
Erick occupied Harry's place, he nudged her arm.
"You're going to let him go just like that?"
Mel contemplated the door in silence. She was ready for Harry's grief this time, there would be moments when he would want to be left alone and she had no problem with it. She understood, there were moments in which she wanted to hide away forever and never wake up.
"He doesn't need me right now," The girl shrugged. "And before you give me a lecture, I don't mean it in a bad way. Whatever he's going through... I can't help him go through it faster. I can't even help myself..."
Mel looked out the window to avoid her friend's eyes.
"How about we go for a walk?" Erick suggested.
Tumblr media
They stopped once they reached the courtyard. It was deserted, most of the students were out on the school grounds bathing in the sun. Mel sat on the edge of one of the archways while Erick remained standing, she could feel him staring, but she kept her eyes down.
"So you and Harry are okay now," He started, "no more fighting?"
"None at all," She sighed. "We have better things to do than to fight over our love life. Not that it matters, we've stopped liking each other that way."
"How come?"
"It just happened," She replied quietly.
Erick hummed, moving to sit next to her.
"Maybe you're meant to be just friends. I mean, your relationship is already too complicated with the lifeline..."
Mel couldn't care less about what her relationship with Harry was destined to be. She didn't know what she wanted to do with the connection after hearing Harry's reasons to keep it.  All she could think of was her mother; she'd sacrificed so much to keep them safe, what Sirius had done to help them... She was running out of days to think of a proper way to apologize to her family. Dumbledore had taken the blame but those were just words, in the end, it was Mel and Harry who'd decided to drop every precaution, part of her felt she deserved all the hurt.
"You know," Erick said quietly. "I've been thinking about dropping out of school after this year."
"Why?"
"Well, my intention was to become a Ministry worker, but after these last few months, I realized they're useless. It would change my plans completely... but maybe I could join the Order?"
"Is that what you want?"
"I don't know what I want," He sighed tiredly. "I know I'm good at duelling and I have nowhere else to go... Did you know Sirius offered to take me in for the summer?"
Mel stared at him.
"Well, he did," Erick continued. "He said I could live with him, that he didn't mind having me around — said I reminded him of his younger brother... Wish I could've done something to help him..."
"You should hate me," She blurted out. "My mother's going to hate me. She'll hate me for being impulsive and for not listening to my uncle — My brother will hate me..."
"Why would I hate you?" He frowned.
"It's my fault that your parents kicked you out," She responded. "I made you write those letters to Anne. It was me who dragged you into this mess, you never wanted any of this, you would've lived a quiet, prosperous life —"
"And I would've been miserable," Erick shook his head. "You never forced me to do anything. You asked and I granted every time because I wanted to, I needed you to give me that final push... I made my choice the moment I met you, Mel."
"It's my fault you don't get to live with Sirius — it's because of me that you won't have a nice home —"
"It's because of you that I'm still alive," His voice trembled with incredulity. He moved closer and held her by the shoulders. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, I'm so lucky I found you..."
The girl had been shoving all her worries deep within herself for too long, she hadn't cried properly, refusing to let herself grieve since she felt she had no right to do so. Erick's voice sounded honest and comforting, she cracked under the pressure.
Erick hugged her and Mel wept like she hadn't done in months, not even while making peace with Harry. She sobbed as loud as she wanted, and the knot that had been stopping her from breathing finally loosened a bit, it made her feel as if she was slowly shrinking back into her child self, the girl cornered in the playground, but she wasn't alone anymore, and she was no longer a weak little thing.
Erick ran a hand through her hair gently, there was something about the way he touched her that made her feel safe.
"You'll feel better. I promise you will..."
He'd lost someone not so long ago, the only adult he'd loved and cared for him. He was probably still grieving, but the fact that he was there, in one piece, was the definite and only proof she needed to hold onto her hopes.
Tumblr media
When the last day of school arrived, it also meant having to sit there surrounded by curious eyes all staring at her and Harry, and she knew what Dumbledore would say during his speech.
Stay together.
She'd talked about the same thing for three days in a row and she was exhausted, if she could, she would drink a potion to forget everything, maybe even the fact that she was a witch, and she would go live with her uncle Lupin, surrounded by nothing but trees...
However, Mel had to keep fighting. It was far from over.
She decided to skip the feast and asked her friends to bring her food once it ended, she slowly made her way back to the tower. Mel turned right on one of the corridors and stopped abruptly when she saw Harry.
For a second they stared at each other in mild confusion, they had been careful not to spend too much time alone because they knew they would end up discussing things they weren't ready to address. Mel gathered enough energy to give him a weak smile.
"Trying to find your appetite? Me too."
Harry raised his eyebrows.
"You're not hungry?"
"It's been happening all year," She sighed. "I guess I grew out of that too..."
"No way. You'll be eating in a week, I expect."
"I expect the same from you," She replied. "I'll make sure you eat twice as much. Merlin knows you need it."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Care if I join you? I could use a walk."
The silence didn't last long when they found Luna.
"How come you're not at the feast?" asked Harry.
"Well, I've lost most of my possessions. People take them and hide them, you know. But as it's the last night, I really do need them back, so I've been putting up signs."
"That's horrible," Mel frowned.
"How come people hide your stuff?"
"Oh... well... I think they think I'm a bit odd, you know. Some people call me 'Loony' Lovegood, actually," The girl said casually.
"That's no reason for them to take your things," Harry replied. "They used to call Mel a nutter too, but they didn't hide away her things."
"That's because they thought I was an attractive nutter," Mel rolled her eyes. "Prats. People need new brains, Luna. You're wonderful."
"D'you want help finding them?"
"Oh no," Luna smiled. "They'll come back, they always do in the end. It was just that I wanted to pack tonight. Anyway... why aren't you at the feast?"
Harry and Mel shared a look and shrugged.
"We didn't feel like it."
"No," Luna agreed, and for a second, Mel was able to see something more than just the usual vagueness in her eyes. "I don't suppose you do. That man the Death Eaters killed was your godfather, wasn't he? Ginny told me. She also said your mother and him were expecting a baby, Mel."
Harry nodded, Mel barely replied with a broken 'yes'.
"Have you..." The boy started slowly. "I mean, who... has anyone you've known ever died?"
"Yes. My mother. She was a quite extraordinary witch, you know, but she did like to experiment and one of her spells went rather badly wrong one day. I was nine."
"I'm sorry," Harry mumbled.
"Yes, it was rather horrible. I still feel very sad about it sometimes. But I've still got Dad. And anyway, it's not as though I'll never see Mum again, is it?"
"Er — isn't it?" Harry glanced back at Mel with slight worry.
"Oh, come on. You heard them, just behind the veil, didn't you?"
"You mean..." The boy started, but he didn't dare to finish.
"In that room with the archway. They were just lurking out of sight, that's all. You heard them. I could see you felt them too, Mel. They're always there."
Luna smiled at them carelessly, as if she'd just commented on the weather.
"Are you sure you don't want us to help you look for your stuff?"
"Oh no. No, I think I'll just go down and have some pudding and wait for it all to turn up... It always does in the end... Well, have a nice holiday."
"Yeah... yeah, you too."
"Bye, Luna."
As they watched her go, Harry turned his head slightly without withdrawing his eyes from the Ravenclaw.
"You think she's telling the truth?"
"About what?"
"Everything."
Mel stared at the notice on the wall for a moment, deciding to use her popular card one last time in order to help a friend.
"I think I would love for it to be true," She responded. "And since I have the liberty to believe in whatever I please... then yes, I think she's right."
Tumblr media
Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, who had clearly been waiting all week for the opportunity to strike without teacher witnesses, attempted to ambush Harry halfway down the train as he made his way back from the toilet.
The attack might have succeeded had it not been for the fact that they unwittingly chose to stage the attack right outside a compartment full of D.A. members, who saw what was happening through the glass and rose as one to rush to Harry's aid.
Ron and Harry walked back into their compartment and told them what had just happened outside, Erick put down the book he was reading and scoffed.
"One would think that having your parents sent to Azkaban would knock some sense into you... I'll have to keep an eye on them next year, then."
Mel turned to look at him in surprise.
"You'll come back?"
"Yes," He said, a little smile playing on his lips. "I got a letter this morning ..."
He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to her. It was her mother's handwriting.
"I'm welcomed to stay with you this summer, and I think I'll take the offer," He grinned. "I don't wish to work at the Ministry, but I could learn a few things before I'm off to become a member of the Order. Besides, I can't think of a better way to thank Sirius than to look after all of you in the meantime..."
"I think that's very sensible of you," Hermione agreed. "It would've been stupid to give up your education now."
"What's stupid is that he's been ignored by his housemates," Ron replied. "The only decent bloke that house got in decades and they hurled him out? That's rubbish!"
Everyone stared at Ron with amusement, the boy turned a bit red.
"What? I can admit when someone's a good person!"
"I don't know what to say," Erick laughed. "Gryffindor's king just gave me his blessing..."
Ron turned redder and threw a jellybean at him.
Harry and Ron whiled away most of the journey playing wizard chess while Hermione read out snippets from the Prophet. It was now full of articles about how to repel dementors, attempts by the Ministry to track down Death Eaters, and hysterical letters claiming that the writer had seen Lord Voldemort walking past their house that very morning...
"It hasn't really started yet," sighed Hermione gloomily, folding up the newspaper again. "But it won't be long now..."
Neville let out a short sigh, absently patting his Mimbulus Mimbletonia. Mel put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed, he looked up and smiled tensely.
"Hey, Harry," Ron kicked his leg.
Cho Chang was passing by with Marietta Edgecombe, who made a great deal out of hiding her face. Harry barely reacted, glancing at her before returning his gaze to the game.
"What's — er — going on with you and her anyway?" Ron asked, unsure of whether this was a safe subject to handle with Mel around.
"Nothing," Harry answered.
"I — er — heard she's going out with someone else now," added Hermione, looking at Mel as well.
"You're well out of it, mate. I mean, she's quite good-looking and all that, but you want someone a bit more cheerful."
"Right, because Harry's a ray of sunshine," Erick taunted.
"She's probably cheerful enough with someone else," Harry shrugged.
"Who's she with now anyway?" Ron asked.
"Michael Corner," Ginny responded.
"Michael — but —" Ron stammered. "But you were going out with him!"
"Not anymore. He didn't like Gryffindor beating Ravenclaw at Quidditch and got really sulky, so I ditched him and he ran off to comfort Cho instead," Ginny said distractedly, focused on her Quibbler.
"Well, I always thought he was a bit of an idiot," Ron said happily. "Good for you. Just choose someone... better, next time."
"Well, I've chosen Dean Thomas, would you say he's better?" Ginny replied.
"WHAT?"
Ron knocked over the chess and Crookshanks chased around the pieces. Grey merely opened one eye before going back to sleep.
Erick laughed again, freedom suited him. The stiffness of his shoulders had vanished and although he kept some old-fashioned attitudes, he was slowly coming out of his shell. Affection settled on Mel's heart.
"What about you?" He asked her, bringing her back from her reverie.
"What about me?"
"Do you have any new prospects in mind? I know Fred's hard to beat, but..."
"I don't think I'm ready to date anyone yet," Mel responded sincerely. "Why?"
"No reason," He replied.
His eyes lingered on her long after she'd looked away.
The moment came when the train got to the station, and she stayed behind, unsure of whether she wanted to see what was expecting her outside the platform.
It was time to meet her brother.
"Remember what I told you," Erick offered his arm for her to hold.
Her mouth was dry, but she nodded and held his arm firmly, letting him guide her to the other side of the wall with a firm step.
There was Mad-Eye Moody, looking quite as sinister with his bowler hat pulled low over his magical eye as he would have done without it, his gnarled hands clutching a long staff, his body wrapped in a voluminous traveling cloak.
Tonks stood just behind him, her bright bubble-gum-pink hair gleaming in the sunlight filtering through the dirty glass station ceiling, wearing heavily patched jeans and a bright purple T-shirt bearing the legend the weird sisters.
Next to Tonks was Lupin, his face pale, his hair graying, a long and threadbare overcoat covering a shabby jumper and trousers. At the front of the group stood Mr and Mrs Weasley, dressed in their Muggle best, and Fred and George, who were both wearing brand-new jackets in some lurid green, scaly material.
Emily was next to Lupin, she was hugging a bundle of blankets that could only be one thing. She didn't look like Mel was expecting, there were dark circles under her eyes, but she was far from angry.
Her face filled with relief as soon as she saw her. Mel stumbled back, not knowing what to do. Emily realized that her daughter was afraid and she looked at her in confusion.
"Mel," She began carefully. "D'you remember what I told Harry last year after the third task?"
Mel remembered, of course.
"You said no one would blame him for fighting as hard as he could."
"That's right," Emily cupped her daughter's cheek. "I was so scared of losing you... My brave, brave girl."
Mel hugged her mother tightly, around her, she heard the others welcoming the rest of their friends.
"Ron, Ginny! Oh, and Harry dear — how are you?"
"Fine..."
"What are they supposed to be?" Ron's voice asked.
"Finest dragon skin, little bro," Fred responded, probably talking about his clothes. "Business is booming and we thought we'd treat ourselves."
Mel finally stepped back so Erick could say hi as well. She realized then that she was now as tall as her mother.
"It's time you meet someone," Emily said, drying her face with the back of her sleeve. "Come here... this is Leon Regulus. Reggie, this is your sister."
He was the tiniest person she'd ever seen, didn't have much hair yet, but his eyes were definitely grey. She remembered Luna's words and in a way, she felt that a part of Sirius still remained.
"I have a brother," She whispered in awe.
"Is that your sibling?" Ginny beamed. "Can I see him?"
Quickly, Ron and the girls approached to look at him.
Harry stayed behind, a bit unsure of whether he was allowed to meet him.
"Hello, kids," Lupin greeted them while the rest of their friends surrounded Emily.
"Hi. I didn't expect... what are you all doing here?" Harry asked.
"Well, Emily can't drive and watch over the baby at the same time, as for the rest, we thought we might have a little chat with your aunt and uncle before letting them take you home."
"I dunno if that's a good idea," Harry said awkwardly.
"Oh, I think it is," Moody growled. "That'll be them, will it, Potter?"
Mel looked over Moody's shoulder and saw the Dursleys, shocked to the core at such scene. She couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it, the first genuine laughter ever since coming back from the Ministry.
She felt someone poking her shoulder and she turned, coming face to face with the twins.
"What, we stop seeing each other for a few weeks and you forget we exist?" Fred smirked.
She jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly.
"I would never forget you. Have you met my brother?"
"Yes, ugly little thing," Fred grimaced, George hit the back of his head. "What? It's true! No newborn is pretty..."
"Bold words from someone with the ugliest taste in clothing," Mel laughed again, it was interesting what a bunch of familiar and happy faces could do to her soul.
"We heard Erick's staying with you this summer... Pitty, we were thinking about hiring him as our assistant."
"I would rather choke on my tongue," Erick walked up to them. "You look ridiculous, and that's coming from someone who likes to wear formal shirts on the weekends."
Fred and George trapped him in a bear hug and messed up his hair, Erick tried to fight back but it only made things worse.
"You missed us!"
"Flimsy little prince like you must bore to death without us around to keep things interesting..."
"Trust me," Erick grunted, looking at her with a smile. "Mel made sure you weren't that sorely missed."
"Ah, kids!" Mr Weasley looked at them. "Boys, let go of him! Ah, look at what you did! He looks like a madman..."
Erick blushed a nice shade of pink, but he laughed it off.
"It's okay, Mr Weasley..."
"He looks far better like this," Fred teased.
"Don't listen to them, they're just jealous," Emily replied, followed shortly by the girls and Ron. "Harry, would you like to meet my son?"
Harry wasn't expecting her to address him, but he didn't have the nerve to say no. Emily took it as a yes and did something she hadn't done with the rest of them: She asked him if he wanted to hold him.
Harry stared at the baby without uttering a word. He took him, and with a few pointers from Emily, soon enough Leon was safely tucked on his arms.
"He's... he's got his eyes," Harry said quietly. "Reggie, you say? ...He's brilliant."
For a moment he forgot about the rest of the world, Harry could see his godfather reflected on those small, shiny eyes, and with that came a life with no mistakes in it yet, a new opportunity to make things right.
Emily didn't take the baby away, instead, she joined the group of adults.
"Well — shall we do it, then?" Mr Weasley then directed his attention to Moody.
"Yeah, I reckon so, Arthur."
He and Mr Weasley took the lead across the station toward the place where the Dursleys stood, apparently rooted to the floor. Hermione disengaged herself gently from her mother to join the group.
"Good afternoon," said Mr Weasley pleasantly to Uncle Vernon, coming to a halt right in front of him. "You might remember me, my name's Arthur Weasley."
As Mr Weasley had singlehandedly demolished most of the Dursleys' living room two years previously, Harry would have been very surprised if Uncle Vernon had forgotten him. Sure enough, Uncle Vernon turned a deeper shade of puce and glared at Mr Weasley, but chose not to say anything, partly, perhaps, because the Dursleys were outnumbered two to one.
Aunt Petunia looked both frightened and embarrassed. She kept glancing around, as though terrified somebody she knew would see her in such company. Dudley, meanwhile, seemed to be trying to look small and insignificant, a feat at which he was failing extravagantly.
"We thought we'd just have a few words with you about Harry."
"Yeah. About how he's treated when he's at your place," Moody growled. "And trust us, Emily has made sure to tell us all about it."
Her mother smiled brightly.
"I am not aware that it is any of your business what goes on in my house —" Mr Dursley started, but he was soon interrupted.
"I expect what you're not aware of would fill several books, Dursley."
"Anyway, that's not the point," Tonks added. "The point is, if we find out you've been horrible to Harry —"
"— and make no mistake, we'll hear about it," Lupin added, looking briefly at Mel and winking.
"Yes, even if you won't let Harry use the fellytone —"
"Telephone," Hermione corrected under her breath.
"Yeah, if we get any hint that Potter's been mistreated in any way, you'll have us to answer to," Moody growled.
"Are you threatening me, sir?" Mr Dursley asked in anger.
"Yes, I am."
"And do I look like the kind of man who can be intimidated?"
"Well..." said Moody, pushing back his bowler hat to reveal his sinisterly revolving magical eye. Uncle Vernon leapt backward in horror and collided painfully with a luggage trolley. "Yes, I'd have to say you do, Dursley."
He turned from Uncle Vernon to Harry. "So, Potter... give us a shout if you need us. If we don't hear from you for three days in a row, we'll send someone along..."
"We'll keep an eye on him, Moody," Mel's mother replied, "Erick, Mel and I will. Feel free to have every meal with us from now on, Harry. There's no reason for you to be eating rubbish."
Aunt Petunia gasped loudly at this.
"I..." Harry blinked. "Okay."
Emily stepped forward and seized Regulus, then she stood on her tiptoes and kissed Harry's cheek.
"We'll see you in a while, love."
"'Bye, then, Potter," Moody patted his shoulder.
"Take care, Harry," said Lupin. "Keep in touch."
"You're not coming?" Mel asked.
"I'm afraid not," The man said, hugging her one last time. "We have work to do."
"I could help if you want," Erick responded quickly.
"You're not going anywhere," Mel argued, holding his arm protectively.
"Maybe later, kid," Lupin answered, staring at them in slight amusement.
"We should move," Emily responded before Erick could argue back.
"Harry, we'll have you away from there as soon as we can," Mrs Weasley said. "And of course, Emily dear, all of you are invited."
"We'll see you soon," said Ron shaking Harry and Erick's hands.
"Really soon," Hermione added. "We promise."
Harry then summoned a real, loving smile. He waved at everyone goodbye and then turned to Mel and Erick.
A strange thought came to her when she watched those two boys standing next to her and her mother: Family.
Difficult times were ahead, but they would go through them. Together.
"Well," Harry scratched the back of his neck. "I'll see you later."
Tumblr media
Erick sat in the backseat with restless curiosity, examining every detail.
"First time?" Mel grinned, looking over to the older boy and her little brother, completely asleep on the baby chair. "If you feel like vomiting don't stress, I get carsick too..."
"Ready?" Emily asked.
Mel stroke Grey's head and turned around to face forward.
Yes, she was ready.

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn, much less created a new OC! But recently I’ve succumbed to Bugsnax brainrot, so introducing Brandy Brittleshoot!
Brandy is a freelance writer and editor, working on several different projects at once before coming to Snaktooth Island. Alongside decently good hearing he has an intense curiosity for the world, often experimenting with different Snakified limbs to get inspiration for his latest story! (Just be prepared if you ask them about it, you’ll be stuck there ‘till nightfall).
I also filled out an interview prompt of him under the cut from @cosmicheartz , so check that out if you’re interested and feel free to shoot any asks about them! I’d love to talk a bit more about my newest character!
Who are you?
I’m Brandy Brittleshoot, I’m a freelance writer! Editing articles, typing out scripts, writing for dating sims, I’ve done a lot!
( How long have you been writing for? )
How long? Hehe, honestly I can’t even remember. One of my earliest memories was me writing an alternate ending to a book that had a crummy finale. I was so upset and whined so loud at a last minute plot twist that my dad sat me down in front of a notebook with a pencil so he could focus on his work. Though, I don’t think he expected me to actually write something decent! Never underestimate the power of an upset fan!!
( Anything in particular you’re writing now? )
Oh a handful of things! I have like, a million story ideas sitting on the backburn, but right now? I’m outlining a story idea I got for my latest novel! The details are a little hazy right now, but it’s all about an island of shapeshifters who can change into whatever they want. But of course, in a world like that there’d be lots of chaos if there were just like, a bunch of dragons flying around everywhere (who wouldn’t want to be a dragon) so there’s the government trying to limit it somewhat and there’s this one girl who-! Oh, grump! Sorry, um, still working on that.
Why come to Snacktooth island?
Oh Lizbert’s to thank for that! A while back I helped with putting out her story about Grumplantis! She saw a bit of the work I was doing at the time and, for some reason, decided I should help her out! Still have no idea why she chose me to help edit especially considering I was writing Grumpus Croft fan fiction at the time, but to think I’d get to help publish official findings about a lost civilization!!! I didn’t even care about the money, just the thought of working together with an explorer like that is just-!
( *Ahem…* But, what about Snacktooth? )
Oh right, that! Well, long story short she thought the work I did was good and invited me to come along as a way to say thanks since she didn’t exactly have the funds to pay for my work. Obviously I couldn’t pass up an opportunity that big, getting firsthand experience with an actual adventurer! So I dropped what I was doing, packed up and came right along with her!
Thoughts on bugsnax?
Duuude, okay. So imagine me, a writer who absolutely loves fantasy, lands on this island and finds out that fantasy actually exists! And is edible!!! I get to know what fantasy tastes like!!! This whole island is walking through one big fantasy novel and I have gotten nothing but inspiration since I’ve gotten here, it’s amazing!
( What does fantasy taste like? )
Okay, it’s like--actually, hang on, it would be faster if I just read this excerpt I wrote down a bit ago instead of trying to explain. *ahem.* ‘Upon the first bite of the plump and crispy Bunger, a dazzling fireworks show of flavor cascades into my mouth and paints a nova onto my taste buds. Each crunch a new explosion, a new flavor, a new color streaming across the sky’s canvas and dazzling me like a nova-’ oop, put nova twice there… ‘-Dazzling me like a child’s first glimpse at the night sky’s expanse! A symphony of crackles for me to experience alone, and by the time the last stream of light fizzled out, I’m ready to light the fuse for an encore.’ And that was just for the Bungers!
Why did you leave town?
Hoooh boy okay, bit of a loaded question there… After Lizbert and Batternugget vanished I tried to keep calm and keep doing what I was doing, wait for them to get back. But as the Bugsnax ran out and people got hungry, it was a bit hard to keep doing that… especially with all the noise...
( You’re referring to the fight? )
More or less yeah. I could hear pretty much everything from inside my cabin: Everyone ganging up against Cromdo, Chandlo calming down Snorpy from a panic attack, Filbo doing his best to keep everything together (can’t blame the guy for trying). Good hearing is both a blessing and a curse I guess… but the worst no doubt was Wiggle.
( What was up with Wiggle? )
Well, I do like her music, don’t get me wrong. But since coming to the island I can’t exactly handle being in the same room with her. She tried getting me to write her some song lyrics for exposure, kept peeking at my writing notes to steal my ideas, and worst of all, she stress yodels. And around the time the two vanished, she certainly had a lot of time to practice. I already couldn’t handle the fighting, but her singing was the last straw, so I slipped out in the middle of the night before I had to hear another note. Erm... you don't think she'll sue me for defamation if you put this in your story, will she?
Any info on Lizbert?
Duuude, Lizbert is no doubt the coolest person I know--probably ever! It’s like she jumped right out of an action movie and I could actually talk with her! She was really nice, telling me about a lot of her previous adventures in her free time and supporting me when I was going through writer’s block. Of course, she wasn’t around too much when she was out hunting snax, but Doctor Batternugget was around!
( Did you and Doctor B.N. get along? )
Yeah Miss Nugget was really nice! She was usually quiet when Lizbert wasn’t around, but after keeping her company one day and helping her sort supplies we got to talk a lot. She even volunteered to read some of my story drafts in her downtime--without me asking first too!! Plus, she also was a good resource to go to when I was writing about… more graphic details regarding Grumpus anatomy. I know a lot of people say that they might not come back, but I know they’re out there somewhere I know it! I mean come on, an adventurous explorer and her nurse girlfriend? That just SCREAMS main character plot armor! Plus, it would seriously suck if I finally find people eager to read my work on their own, then they just vanish from my life altogether… Please be okay Miss Batternugget…
Tape’s almost dry Brandy, gotta wrap this up soon!
Oh thanks for the interview! First one I’ve ever gotten, certainly a learning experience! (Maybe I could make a story entirely using interviews, that could be cool). I’m just sorry for talking your ear off. Hey, I know you’re kind of a solo worker from watching you run around, but if you’d like I can try and help with editing this story when you head back to the mainland. Free of charge too, I know you guys at GNN aren’t exactly treated the best. Not to mention it would look really good on both our resumes if we collaborated for this kinda story!

Someone To Stay
Tumblr media
An original story by fairytales1896
Spencer Reid x fem reader
5. Maybe, Just Maybe
Spencer POV:
It's been a few days since I hung out with Y/N. I'm truly glad she was the one I got to go with. I feel like we might have a lot in common, and she's easy to be around. For a little while, I almost forgot about everything that happened...about her. The next day the thoughts came sinking slowly back in, but they don't feel as debilitating as they used to. Maybe Derek was right, getting out, being around people, it may not be easy for me but it may be what's best. Maybe I should try to get out of my comfort zone a little. I want to get better, I do. But being social, well it's never been my strong suit, and to try to do it now, when I feel so emotionally vulnerable, it's particularly difficult.
Other than the dinner at Rossi's, my friends haven't been inviting me out as much as they used to. I'm pretty sure they got tired of the inevitable rejection. I want them to see that I'm trying, that I want to do better, to get better. Maybe if I reach out first...
I grab my phone to call JJ. She's like a sister to me, and she's been the best at trying to understand what I've been going through.
"Hey, Spence!" She sounds surprised but glad to hear from me.
"Hey, I was uhh.. well I was just wondering..." my words trail off as I find myself suddenly losing confidence in my endeavor.
"Yeah, what's up?" Her voice has a calming effect on me.
"Well...I was wondering if the team had any plans this weekend? To hang out or...I don't know."
"Actually we don't. But we should! I think I have an idea. There's something I've been wanting us all to do. There's a Lakehouse up for rent, and I think it would be fun if we all went up for a weekend. What do you think?"
I'm not very into outdoor activities, but the idea of reading on a porch by the lake sounds incredibly calming and therapeutic. It also sounds like a good time for me to start hanging out with the team again.
"You know, that actually sounds perfect." I smile at the thought of the much needed weekend getaway.
"Perfect! I'll text the group! Thanks for giving me the nudge to set this up, Spence. It'll be fun."
I hang up and shortly after I hear the familiar ding from the group message chat.
BAU Baddies😎
JJ💖: Hey guys! Who would be down for renting a Lakehouse this next weekend?
DM🍫⚡️: Hell yeah! @ahotchner you know what that means?? Jet Skis baby!! 😜🤙🏻
AB🌹: How fun! Count me in.
DR🇮🇹: I'll cook! I have a new recipe we can try out. I think you'll all love it👌🏻
PG🦄👸🏼: @jjereau @ablake We HAVE to go swimsuit shopping first, ladies! This is a non-negotiable.
AH: Sounds fun, are we bringing the kids this time?
JJ💖: Actually, Will is staying home and he'll be watching Henry. Jack can spend the weekend there, if you'd like. @ahotchner
AH: Thanks. I think I'll take you up on that offer.
DM🍫⚡️: @sreid you better be coming pretty boy, just bring a couple dozen books and you'll be set.
SR♟: Yep, already packing.
I smile to myself, thinking of how for once, I'm the reason we have plans. But if anyone else knew that, I'd never hear the end of it. I knew JJ was being intentional when she didn't mention that to the group. I hear another group chat alert and glance at my phone.
BAU Baddies😎
JJ💖: Hey, is it alright if I invite Y/N again?
AB🌹: Oh I thought that was a given! You definitely need to! She fits in with us so well.
PG🦄👸🏼: You better! Or I won't let you hear the end of it 😂
JJ💖: Great! Thanks you guys, it means a lot that you've been so welcoming to her.
Y/N will be there. Maybe I'll have a friend who will hang back and read with me. It would be nice to not be the only one. Then I remember what she said about moving here because she loves the outdoors. That means she'll probably be hanging out with Derek, JJ, and whoever else. Oh well. At least maybe I'll get to talk to her more. I decide to text her. I never really text anyone, but she doesn't know that.
Spencer📱
Hey, it's Spencer. I heard JJ wanted to invite you to the lake. Do you think you'll go?
Y/N 📱
Yeah! I just got off the phone with her. I can't wait! Are you going?
Spencer📱
Surprisingly...yes. I'll be bringing some books along to pass the time but it'll be nice to have a change of scenery.
Y/N📱
Books??? We'll see about that😉 I love a good book as much as the next bibliophile...but this is a weekend for things you CANT do at home. Anyways, would you want to carpool? We can take turns driving if one of us gets tired. Passenger is in control of snacks and music! 🎶🍿
Spencer📱
Haha, ok deal. We'll work out the details later. And...thanks :)
Y/N📱
Anytime Spencer, can't wait! 👍🏻
I lean back into the couch and smile. Even if we spend the weekend doing different things, at least we'll get to talk on the way there. I feel like she could become a good friend, but I don't want to make any assumptions...I don't do this often.
Y/N POV:
You run around your room, packing for a trip that's days away. You're too excited, it can't wait. Just as you're trying to decide on a swimsuit you get a text from Penelope, saying that the girls are going swimsuit shopping this evening. They want you to come. You can't hide the smile growing on your face. How long has it been since you've been on a girls shopping trip? You can't even remember. It's spontaneous, so you assume no one will be too dressed up. You throw on a black sleeveless t shirt dress and some strappy sandals. Easy enough to get in and out of for trying on clothes. After brushing through your hair and applying some quick, light makeup, you're ready to go. The girls had decided to meet at the mall, for the most options.
You meet up with Aunt JJ, Penelope, and Alex outside of a nice department store.
"I figured we could start here. It has the most options and it's at the end of the mall. So we can work our way down, until we all find something."
Aunt JJ tends to take charge. She's such a mom, but that's part of what you love about her. Always prepared, caring for everyone. Alex found a cute one piece with a wrap to wear as a skirt. Penelope picked out a cute pink and purple polka-dotted swim dress. JJ ended up with a sports-bra fitting bikini top and some athletic looking swim shorts. Still such a typical mom. The only one left is you. You haven't tried on very many things, and what you did try on, never made it out of the dressing room.
"Y/N, why don't you let us pick you out some things to try on, and this time, you have to at least let us see. Deal?" Penelope gives you a look of encouragement.
"Sure" you shrug. "I'll try anything at this point."
Alex stays with you while JJ and Penny go to pick out some swimsuits for you. They return with a few handfuls of options. You try on the first option, picked out by Penny. It's a cute two piece, frilly and pink. You come out and are greeted with a few giggles.
"As cute as this is, I think it's more your style than mine, Penny" you let out a small laugh.
"Oh I know. I just wanted to see you in it! I couldn't pull it off in a thousand years!" She laughs.
"Alright alright, let's keep going." JJ ushers me back into the dressing room.
I come back out in a black two piece. It doesn't show too much skin to make me uncomfortable, but it's really flattering on my curves.
I hear a chorus of "ooooo" and one "yes queen!" that I'm sure came from Penny.
"Really, you guys? It's not too...ya know."
JJ shakes her head at me. "No definitely not. Girl, you're single, you're in your twenties, your body hasn't had a child yet. If you got it, flaunt it. If not now, then when?"
The girls all nod in agreement. You blush. You didn't know you could look this good in a swimsuit. You usually avoided bikinis. You found it hard to feel comfortable in your own skin. Whenever you tried to dress sexy, you just ended up feeling awkward and uncomfortable. It helps to have some friends to encourage you. You look at yourself in the mirror one last time. Okay, even you had to admit, you look hot.
The four of you end the day with lunch, chatting about your plans for the lake.
JJ turns to you. "Y/N, I almost forgot, do you need a ride down there? I can pick you up, if you'd like."
"Ohh uh, no actually. I'm carpooling with Spencer." I give her a shy smile. I know what this looks like. "We're just friends" I quickly interject.
"That's great" she says, giving me her warm smile. "Spence really needs a friend right now. And I bet you do too." There's understanding in her eyes. You're grateful that she didn't try to make more out of it. Aunt JJ knows you, though. She knows you make guy friends much more easily. That aside, you were still so grateful for the day with the girls. They were all so genuine, and easy to get along with. They didn't make you feel like an outsider intruding on their day.
Later that evening, you lay in bed as you try to quiet your mind. Your head is swimming with too many thoughts to fall asleep: anxieties about this weekend, but also excitement and ideas of what you'll do. Not to mention, more time to get to know Spencer better. You wonder what JJ meant when she said Spencer really needed a friend right now. Maybe, just maybe, you'd break through his walls a little more this weekend.
A/N: sorry this one is short-ish. It's kind of a transition chapter so there's not as much content! Building a base, building friendships, hang with me, we're getting there 😁💖✌🏻

Part Two
Tumblr media
Chicago, Illinois ~ June 6th 1920
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the organization designed to monitor the borders and the cities of America, was an intimidating group to say the least. To be sure, they commanded a presence but Miriam didn't know how fruitful their investigations were.
Now, it was common knowledge that gangsters and bootleg liquor had taken the country by storm in the midst of their dry sobriety. The FBI should have been handling that. The FBI should have been stopping it.
The war had left many hearts thirsting for a numbing drink and there was always a demand. Though the city was dry, she could almost smell the liquor that oozed from the cracks and shadows of the alleys.
[But Miriam wasn't sure if she was imagining things. She wasn't really sure of anything. Like how she had managed to find her way in the busy Chicago streets to the FBI offices or why she was here at all.
London wasn't her home anymore, that much had been made clear. Neither was the wasteland of mass graves and trenches that had once been Europe. Miriam gripped the letter tighter in her palm, the ink smudging against her sweating palm, the only sign she was nervous.
There had been one person she had known in the war who still spoke to her or had life in their chest. Lawrence White. First hand witness to her path of blood and destruction and now special agent in Chicago. He had sent her a letter, promising a job, a purpose and orders to follow.
"You don't look like a spy,"
Miriam could have stayed in Britain. She could have carved out a new life for herself, built a new family, like the thousands of others who had managed to crawl their way out of the trenches. But that meant being alone. Alone with the ghost of that little girl, little Melinoe, who would have been alive, if Miriam hadn't failed.
Miriam needed an occupation, a purpose. She needed orders to follow. So she had replied to the letter, bought a ticket on the next boat and left.
God, this was a mistake.
The offices were neat but busy. She wasn't sure if anyone had been alerted of her arrival. If Lawson, (as they had nicknamed him), had told the rest of the offices that a British-German would be walking across their doorstep and taking up residence beside them in a desk. That would have been jarring enough. Miriam wasn't sure that if anyone knew of her arrival, they would be aware that she was a woman.
That would have been two strikes against her.
As it turned out, neither seemed to be the problem. There were three other women in the office and a man who's accent betrayed him as Russian. Being a woman and being a foreigner wasn't the problem. It was her age.
"I've had to explain to Washington that your age will not affect your work." Lawson said, after settling Miriam in his office, the stares of the agents nearly burning through the window.
His first words after seeing her in Belgium rang in her ears. "You look different."
"Why should it?" Miriam said. It hadn't to the British government. They had sent her to Cairo, alone, when she was seventeen. Thanks to Ezriel, that is.
"I know of your work and of your ability. These men," Lawson waved a hand at the glass windows that offered a view of the office. Agents were still watching. "They know nothing. You are young, Goldschmidt. That makes you seem inexperienced."
They both knew that wasn't the case. She had fought harder than most, killed more than anyone she had worked with. Enyo wasn't gone, like the rest of the war. She was still present, pushing anything prior to her creation into ghostly memoriam.
"I will endeavor to prove myself to these high standards." Miriam said. She smoothed her new suit, a more stylish cut than she was accustomed to but in a familiar glossy black. like a crow's wing. It was an alteration to her usual ensemble but provided the much needed encompassment. Her accent was more obvious now, here in this country. She had sounded to German in Britain but too British here. Perhaps she would have to alter that part of herself too. "Anything else I need to know before you turn me to the wolves?"
It had been like this during the war. Lawson gave orders and Miriam followed them. The only difference, they were now in America and Miriam wasn't Enyo. She was a field agent and now, she would be released into an unknown country.
"You aren't being thrown to the wolves," Lawson shook his head as he stood, gesturing for Miriam to do the same. They exited the office, the agents who had been spectating hurriedly returning to their work. He led her, shoes tapping against the marble floor to a desk where a woman sat, sorting through papers.
Office work. She would be doing office work. Lawson had seen her fight and seen her losses and would only give her office work. Miriam's hands balled up into fists, her short nails digging like daggers into her skin.
"Agent Davidson," The woman looked up at the sound of Lawson's voice. She was older than Miriam, much older. Her hair was graying and her lined face. She looked around Sarah's age. Miriam's fists tightened. "This is Miriam Goldschmidt, our new special agent. She'll be working with you."
"Goldschmidt?" Davidson's eyes sparked angrily. Like Ezriel's. Like Sarah's. She wasn't angry because Miriam had failed them. Her fury stemmed from something Miriam couldn't control: her name. "You German?"
"I'm British." Miriam said. Leipzig was a long time ago. London, though she had run away, was the last time she had been free of ghosts. London was her home.
The fire died in Davidson's eyes and she extended a hand. The British and the Americans had fought together. This could be their olive branch, it seemed. "Alaska Davidson."
"A pleasure," Miriam said. "I admit, I was surprised to see another woman."
Alaska nodded. "There are only a few of us and they seem to want us spread out. You and I will be alone in the sea of men." She glanced at Lawson, who had been silent as introductions and allegiances were made. He looked pleased that they were getting along. "Alright, Lawson, you can leave us alone. We won't kill each other."
"Tell me," Miriam said, as he retreated back to his office with only a wink and a smile to say goodbye. "Were you born there?"
"Born where?" Davidson's already lined face wrinkled in confusion.
"Alaska?"
"Oh no." Alaska shook her head, though her face relaxed. "I am from Ohio."
"Are all American women named after states?" Miriam asked. "Should I change my name? To fit in?"
"Lawson failed to mention you were such a wisecrack," Alaska said. She didn't seem upset or annoyed. It was an observation, maybe even a playful joke. Miriam's lips twitched. "You are getting the desk beside me. So I can keep an eye on you." She gestured to the empty table, free of the clutter that was the pattern on every other agent's desk. "You brought anything for your desk?"
Miriam looked down at her empty hands, trying to ignore the weight of the little book against her chest, and shook her head.
"Don't worry, it'll be full soon enough."
"What kind of work will we be doing, Agent Davidson?" Miriam asked. She could feel a gun's smooth metal beneath her palm and the weight of a knife in her grip. Miriam wasn't opposed to a little blood staining her hands. Enyo craved it. She had been sober, like the rest of America, for quite some timee, though her tonic had been a tad more violent.
She needed something she could fight. Something she could put to death. Especially now when Miriam's mind was full of undead memories. Ghostly little girls. Blood that had long since dried, sticking to her fingers.
"Do you know much about the eighteenth amendment?" Alaska asked.
She knew enough. Alcohol was prohibited, not to be sold or served.
"It is the devil's drink, is it not?" She said, something inside her smiling at the look on Alaska's face. Surprise and calculation. Miriam liked being a mystery. While they were trying to figure her out, she had time to fire the defenses.
"You aren't a girl of morals, are you?"
Blood staining her hands. Enyo, laughing.
It was safe for Miriam to say, "No, no one could ever say that."
"So, lying is acceptable?"
" I enjoy it."
Alaska laughed, mistaking her words as another witty crack but there was no shift in Miriam's expression. She hadn't been joking.
"You'll do fine," Alaska decided, though the curiousity didn't leave her gaze. While Miriam sat at her desk and removed her hat, she could feel the watchful eyes on her, trying to solve the puzzle of Miriam Goldschmidt. She wished Agent Davidson would solve it for her. She hadn't yet.

Historical Notes:
he FBI wasn't actually known as the Federal Bureau of Investigation until the 1930s. It was known simply as the Bureau of Investigation, going through several adjustments until 1935, the name was settled as we know it today: FBI.
Now, there are a few reasons why I chose to keep the name FBI in this story, however inaccurate. One being familiarity. When I say, FBI, you know exactly what I am talking about. Secondly, comprehension. It is easy to understand what being an FBI agent involves, whether it is 2020 or the 1920s.
So, FBI it remains in the world of Lady Blood.
(also, the acronym BOI has been ruined by meme culture and I couldn't take myself seriously while writing it.)
There were three female agents in the Bureau of Investigation in the 1920s, though their time was short-lived. Alaska P. Davidson, (1922 to 1924), Miss Lenore Houston (1924 to 1928), and Mrs. Jessie B. Duckstein (1923 to 1924).
I chose Alaska Davidson for no particular reason, other than to crack a few jokes about her name and I liked the dynamic and power play that her and Miriam had. That's all.

Hi! I love your headcanons and this is the first time I'll try a request but can you do one with RFA and minor trio where MC is a fangirl? Like she'll make inhuman squeals at 3am because something cute happened in a fanfic or she'd be SUPER excited about a new Harry Potter movie coming out and would stand in line for hours just to see it in theatres? Thank you ♥😊
I’m sure you send this by mistake cuz this isn’t a HC blog nonny, but let me try my hand at this, they’ll be short though:
RFA with a fangirl MC:
*Zen*
He thinks is really cute, really. You look the most girlish when you squeal in excitement and he likes girly girls but… But… “Oi babe, why don’t you react like that when you see ME acting? Babe, what’s with that face and why are you leaving the room? Babe, wait babe…!”
*Yoosung*
Yoosung can relate, being he a fan of lolol himself. Sometimes 3 am would find both of you squealing in excitement, you because your OTP did the thing or a new movie/the cast was announced, and he because he got this super rare item which it was so hard to obtain…Now, the look your neighbors give both of you the next day when you go out for groceries… Fucking thin walls…
*Jaehee*
Your fangirl experience has improved so much since you started dating this girl! Mamahee knows everything about standing in lines for hours waiting for a ticket, she knows all the tricks to keep you warm/cold well fed and rest. Without even mention the access to super rare to find information that you are not supposed to know yet. Now, if she only could make you a fan of Zen as well…
$Jumin (my love!)$
*Money is the way of the world*“Huh? Ms Rowling? Yes, we secured a deal with her last year, would you happen to want to know he–” Ok, if you are going to hug him and kiss him with such fervor just because of this… maybe he could find similar ways of encourage such behavior. No meeting the male cast though, he is the only man who should be able to take such high pitched notes out of you…
πSevenπ
This guy…3 am found you reading THE FIC of your OTP, it was the moment, the high peak of the story, tears were running across your face and when they kissed, you throw the highest squeal of excitement in your life. Your boyfriend came running to you in the same state as you, having he read it as well. You both hug each other, running in circles you started to fangirl how awesome it was when this or this other thing happened. He was in a worst state than you, he was… He was totally faking it…So guess who is sleeping with Saeran tonight? (No, not you sinner! He is the one who has to sleep with his brother)
I never knew who “minor trio” are supposed to be, but have a bonus Rika:
Rika: this books are so good MC! You could almost make a cult out of this…MC: Rika noRika: Rika yes!MC: No, Rika you can’t. The Harry Potter fandom is already a thing and already a cult. You are late for at least 10 years…Rika: oh crap…

michael: fire seraph, super patient w jeremy, sweet innocent baby, would follow jeremy into the depths of hell, studies herbs and medicines (i had to), sneaks out of the village sometimes to gather herbs, always brings jeremy.. he gave up trying to leave him behind to protect him from a lecture from his pants hating father, encourages jeremy to do what he loves, just a big team mom tbh he wants his friends to be okay (but mostly jeremy *cough*), super ovERPROTECTIVE !!! , always the first one to offer to armatize w jeremy oops, he just likes the comfort of being with his best friend and he wants to help him as much as he can
squip: probably the lord of calamity lbr, but also i wanna make him a party member briefly, a Big Traitor Character, just a shitty bad manipulative dude, based on musical squip not book squip, definitely tries to steer jeremy towards corruption like he wants no part of the shepherd to exist, manipulates rich, m e a n, PROBABLY TRIES TO KILL MICHAEL BUT SUBTLY HFJSBD
christine: human, she has to be human, cute girl jeremy saw sometimes when he snuck out w michael when they were young, an actual precious angel, kinda overdramatic, definitely an actress or smth.. like a performer maybe? something in the arts, can't see seraphim but when she learns about them she's always super courteous of michael because she can Feel the Overprotective Vibes, deserved better than this, (when she finally sees a seraph for the first time she starts crying because holy heck they're real and she can finally see then which means there's hope for other people to see them as well), big theatrical monologues, will punch you if you harm her friends, acearo (fight me)
rich: human (or fire seraph because rich set a fire i hate myself snjdhsbd), can see seraphim possibly, Traitor™ but not even on purpose, accidentally was helping the bad guy, rly likes the squip and thinks he's a cool dude, is fucking shocked when he finds out the squip was using him to further his Evil Plans, "bro.. i thought we were friends, bro", short (of course), lisp, muSCLES
jake: probably water seraph... b-because he's cool.. (yikes), a gentle boy, a lot of seraphim thinks he's stuck up and annoying but he just wants everyone to be happy, kinda follows christine around to make sure no one tries to hurt her and gets very >:( about christine and jeremy becoming friends, briefly had a crush on christine but respects that she's acearo and then he meets rich and is like O: this human is loud and strange and i love him, hoNESTLY I BET HE AND MICHAEL GET UPSET AND RANT TO EACH OTHER ABOUT THE SQUIP TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR PALS OMG, a good friend
jenna: wind seraph.. because i said so, v skeptical about everyone and doesn't really wanna help but she wants the gossip for the tabloid she writes, yes she writes tons of seraph gossip holy shit, everyone is kinda like "oh yeah.. idk those articles are trashy" but they fuckin binge read it they can't lie, TOTALLY THE Information GIRL SHE 100% FINDS OUT EVERYTHING THE TEAM NEEDS, good at finding deals, doesn't want to armatize with anyone because she feels like a bother (but she says it's because she doesn't like feeling that close to someone), secretly afraid she's weighing everyone down, no bby pls you're an angel
brooke: earth seraph, fight me on this, a sweet nervous baby who loves her girlfriend, really likes going shopping w jeremy (and by that i mean taking jeremy around all the shops w her asking if he thinks chloe would like a certain top or piece of jewelry), squip has made her cry at least 6 times, chloe has threatened the squip's life 5/6 of those times, she's not weak though don't even she's an emotional angel but she'll still fuck you up and look cute doing it, a good friend who worries about her human pals a lot, "if you guys need to rest we can stop for the night. it's normal for humans to get worn out more quickly."
chloe: fire seraph probably, i know ur not supposed to have more than one of a certain seraph type but fuck u i'll do what i want, sass queen, has a kinda complex past relationship with jake but they put it aside and she's dating brooke now, Will Protect Brooke With Her Life, if you bully her earth gf she will actively kick your ass, cooks really well !!, the squip is Dead to Her, gets a lil jealous if brooke armatizes with anyone because she can't armatize with her and :( , has a very bad temper but it's p useful in battle because she will tear straight through enemies no fucks given, likes to gossip and loves telling stories to her pals
