Just arrived at Soundcheck Studios for Magic Beans. Running late, but we managed to get there just as the sun was setting. That's a hot, spiced, spiked apple cider I'm drinking. Before that, was a giant 101-proof, cinnamon-infused whiskey shot.

Energy Magic - with coffee or tea
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Energy magic and caffeinated beverages are a natural combination but did you know you can energize with camomile? Caffeine by its very nature gives us a boost. Sometimes that boost isn’t enough, instead of just increasing the amount of caffeine you drink, why not add a little magic?
1. Any good barista can tell you that good coffee and tea both start with good water. If you brew your own, use charged or blessed water. I’m in Cambodia right now (searching for those spiritual places) so I don’t have all my tools with me. I do have a water bottle and my favorite crystal necklace, before I go to bed, I fill the water bottle and carefully wrap the crystal so it doesn’t touch anything but the water bottle. Add a little prayer (spell) to clarify your intentions and leave it overnight. In the morning, carefully remove the crystal and use the water to brew your drink.
2. Can’t brew your own right now? Grab your cuppa and visualize the morning sun, you know the cartoon one with the big smile, let yourself see the rays of sunshine poring into your brew. Know that as you sip, that lovely warm clean energy will transfer to you. Wrap yourself in it. If it’s winter where you are and you have a hard time visualizing the sun, think of a candle flame, imagine holding your cuppa over it so it can absorb the energy.
3. How about blessing your coffee or tea pot? Keep in mind, if it’s mostly plastic, it won’t hold a charge for long. I had a Mr. Coffee that I recharged every month by placing it in the window on the night of the full moon. Made great coffee. Natural materials will hold the charge much longer. Maybe all you need to do is charge your favorite coffee mug.
4. Cautions, if your using crystals to charge, don’t soak or dip them in the water, some will dissolve a little, you might not see it, but over time it will damage the crystal and probably isn’t healthy. Always specify where the energy is coming from, you don’t want to be draining plants or pets. The sun, moon and ocean are safe bets. Don’t share your blessed brew with anyone who doesn’t know about and agree to it. That is just not cool.
5. Remember in the beginning I said you could even get a boost from camomile? Same methods apply, the most important things are your intentions. Even if your will isn’t strong, you will notice a difference. Over time that increase.
6. Energy magic with coffee or tea can be as simple as a quick prayer as you go through the drive up window, or as elaborate as you want it to be.
Happy energizing!

The beans post
I learned some new things about gardening due to neglecting it for 3 months; most of it is related to beans. I noticed that people were hasty to harvest their dry beans as soon as it started raining; I supposed it was bad for dry beans to be in a lot of rain, they might rot or something. I got to harvest mine way late, so I found out; what actually happens when you leave your dry beans outside after summer, and it rains a whole lot, and then a whole lot more?
The answer: They sprout. And I don't mean they fall down to the ground and start growing new plants, they sprout even while they're still hanging off of the plant! Just look at these:
Tumblr media
Still in their pod and sprouting!
This was a lot of fun to find out; I'm not upset by this, as it's not the majority that sprouted, and I can simply eat them anyway, sprouted food is healthy! Here's all of those who sprouted, ready to be cooked:
Tumblr media
And they tasted only slightly different than the other dry beans, they were great to eat!
The rest of my beans have happily cross-pollinated, now they're all possible sizes and colors and I could not be happier about that. Looking at the colorful bean collection makes me feel like my life is happy, enriched, filled with wonder and variety. Look at these:
Tumblr media
Some of the beans I was picking up were in the big, still-green pods; that meant they're unripe, but we weren't getting any sun, and they wouldn't get to ripen more, so I harvested them anyway. Upon opening them at home later, I was greeted with the most gorgeous beans I've ever seen in my life. I've been entranced. Look at this:
Tumblr media
If I told you these were magic beans and tried to trade them to you in a small village's farmer's market for something valuable, would you not take my word for it? They're the colors of the universe, light blue and purple and some even have slight brushes of color on them like they're painted. I've been staring at these lovingly for 2 days, and then I had to cook them, because they're unripe and can't really be stored as long as the dry beans can. I made them into a white soup, together with potatoes and chive infusion. They don't completely lose their color in a soup either! They just get a bit more grey:
Tumblr media
These are only this pretty because I got to see them in the middle of ripening, they would have turned fully dark-blue or dark-purple if completely ripe and dry. I have a few seeds for these left, so I'm going to try and get them again, the experience of gorgeous beans is now going to be expected in my every gardening year!

Ok, serious question. Why on Hylia's green earth does the English (and French obviously, too) version of OoT calls this 'magic bean'?
This is not a bean.
This is a pea.
Consequently it's called 'Wundererbse' in German. Maybe someone with cooking experience on the translator team. Or a gardener. 😆

Made gingerbread dough; decided to recreate the magic beans from Ocarina of Time. Then I eated them. This counts as eating vegetables, right? 😬

This morning:
Me: We're out of milk. I should have our son go buy a cow, milk it, and bring me a bowl of cereal.
Partner: You know they sell milk next door, right?
Me: Yeah, but how else am I supposed to unload this bag of magic beans?

hearts and concerts
I may have stepped away from heartbeat activity for two months, but I didn’t step away from concert activity. My desire to experience a woman's heartbeat is always present, as is my desire to experience a concert. There’s always some jam concert going on somewhere nearby, well, at least within an hour drive. April is filled with them, but I’m holding back. I just have one more scheduled for this month—Magic Beans—but others are clawing at me. It’s tough to resist a jam show that’s less than a twenty-minute drive. Scheduled for next month is Lespecial very close by, and Peak (as in Peaktheband.com) in the Hartford area. Nothing for June yet, but July is busy. I can’t wait for tailgating. Lespecial is gonna be tough, because the following day is my Easter, which means people start showing up here sometime after noontime. Easter means lots of eating and drinking, hence a pounding heart. I wouldn't mind waking up with a pounding heart Easter morning, but NOT a pounding head.
For any heartbeat lover who is reading this, I'll eventually break out my stethoscope and doppler and record my heart beating, and break out my ultrasound machine and show my heart beating.

Coffee doesn't make me energetic or anxious, but it does make me laugh out loud at stuff I wrote online that no one else thinks is funny. This is a serious problem. To which the answer is clearly more coffee.

Mundane magic - aka joy breaks
A friend asked how I maintain creativity while doing a commission. My reply: a schedule and lots of joy breaks. I deliberately make the mundane magical. Especially via joy breaks. Joy breaks, also called “Joy Snacks“, is purposefully taking time to recognize and savor small pleasures. Think of the old fashioned coffee breaks office workers were allowed within a work day but for me now it’s a…

SMALL BEANS
I've been enjoying playing DnD with the kids lately. We have Superstar the Unicat (the princess formerly known as Diamond Ring), Banger the Hammer-ster, and the reformed giant robot/tiny hedgehog with a flame hammer, Super Kill Face, who has changed his name to Super Cuddle Face.
I wanted to let them have fun with magic beans in their game. It's a big hit. Here's my list of possibilities.
D20 determines what the tiny players will get when they plant a magic bean.
Evil clones of the planter appear and disappear after a minute (think Wario, bizarro Superman, just opposite)
flowers as tall as skyscrapers and as big as helipads grow (bonus if you want to fight they attract giant bees)
a hole that leads to the other side of the world opens up
a genie appears and grants each player one wish
it begins to snow within a 15 foot sphere. Can include a talking snowman
a giant beanstalk grows
a candy tree sprouts
a basketball size egg appears and if cared for hatches into a unicorn/turtle after a week
in a puff of smoke a group of squirrels appear singing. Will not stop until players clap for them
a giant octopus appears and tries to pull players into hugs
a feast appears, players turn the color of whatever they eat
each player sprouts a tail
Fight a giant robot
a rainbow streaks across the sky from the bean and a leprechaun races out looking for the end of the rainbow
a bird flies out of the hole and makes a nest in the planters hair
a kangaroo hops out and runs off with something shiny in its pouch
the world turns black and white except for a giant red button
the sky clouds over and a giant thunderstorm begins. It rains bananas
a huge piñata appears and taunts players into hitting him
the planter turns into a baby piglet
