Hey, everyone! I wanted to work on something different and this is another AU of mine known as the Animal Shifter AU where there are humans that can turn into animals!

Imagine that you are someone who is looking for a job, you’re having a lot of trouble as you aren’t really good at anything but eventually you come across a job that seems absolutely perfect for you

It’s a job down at the local zoo, they’re looking for new people to take care of the animals especially after a lot of the handlers just up and quit out of the blue

You called the number almost immediately and within a week, you were hired and being trained to take care of the zoo’s animals properly and you wound up being somewhat of a natural at it as even the more skittish animals seemed to warm up to you quite easily

Despite you being a natural at it though, there was one animal at the zoo that you were told to not get close to for even a slight second as this animal had given every single handler who has tried to work with him such an incredibly hard time to the point where many just up and quit or suffer some kind of career ending injury

This animal was known as “Spotted Evil” or “That One Asshole” by the zookeepers but to guests who visited the park and read the informational plaque outside of his enclosure, they would find that his name was actually Lucci

You weren’t looking to get your face ripped off any time soon so you just continued on with your life and caring for the other animals although whenever you passed by Lucci’s enclosure, you swore that you could feel his eyes on you like he was getting ready to leap at you and take a bite out of you

Whoever invented the safety glass for zoos to use instead of bars was a god in your eyes… Because lord, that leopard would stare you down…

For months afterwards, it was the same thing everyday as you would show up and take care of the animals that you were assigned to

The zoo would open and people would come in to look at the animals, you would even give a show or two to some kids about how amazing certain creatures were like you once gave a show about how cool wolves were but the wolf that you were handling just had to be an asshole and not cooperate at all

You constantly found yourself wanting to avoid Lucci’s enclosure at all costs though as you swore that the leopard was gunning for you as normally he would simply stay in his den or pace around his enclosure when it was around meal time but he seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to you

He would always and I mean ALWAYS know exactly when you were passing by his enclosure as he would seemingly appear out of nowhere to just stare at you and you specifically, it didn’t matter who was looking in his enclosure at the time

It could probably be someone wearing a full outfit made entirely out of leopard skin but he would only watch you… Hell, you were certain that if the world was ending on one side of the enclosure and you were sweeping trash on the other side then he would still just be watching you…

Eventually time passed and you left on vacation to spend some time relaxing but while you were away, the zoo made a decision that Lucci should find a mate and breed to have cubs as it may mellow him out a little

But when they brought in a female leopard for Lucci to mount and mate with, he didn’t show any interest at all and even seemed to be somewhat aggressive with the female leopard that he was given when she did things that he didn’t like

So the zoo tried again and again with different female leopards but nothing worked and eventually they stopped when Lucci attacked and scarred a female leopard that was getting a bit too pushy with him for his liking

You of course didn’t know about any of this until you returned from vacation about a half month later and your co-workers told you everything including how Lucci seemed to almost be looking for you as he would pace around his enclosure just staring out and scanning the area

It was an unnerving thought to you and when you walked by Lucci’s enclosure that day, his stare felt more intense than it usually did and you swore that he was plotting your demise in his head right then and there

You just tried to ignore it and when the winter came around, Lucci almost seemed to not stare at you as much as he would spend a lot more time in his den which was odd as you were pretty sure that leopards didn’t hibernate but whatever kept him from staring at you, right?

It was around this time as well that someone started hanging around the zoo, he was a man that looked even more intimidating than Lucci and also looked like he did not belong in a zoo staring into the giraffe enclosure as he would always be wearing some form of suit whether it be white or black

He was everywhere that you went but he never outwardly approached you, you personally found him strange and scary and so did your co-workers as they would tell you that they never saw him leave or arrive on the security cameras which was downright scary as it would almost seem like he would just appear and disappear

Eventually he approached you out of the blue one day and attempted to strike up a conversation with you, it was probably pretty obvious that you were uncomfortable as you kept your responses short while you tried to move about the zoo and take care of your work

This man kept trying to talk to you but you didn’t ever reply, he would show up everyday and just follow you around while trying to make conversation if he wasn’t standing off somewhere nearby

You wound up bringing this up to your boss and your boss thank the lord had apparently been looking for a reason to ask this guy to leave as they had been pretty weirded out by them as well so the man was asked to leave and when he wouldn’t, you called the police only for him to disappear as soon as they arrived

He never came back after that day which you were thankful for and Lucci became more active in his enclosure as he would come out of his den more often now, it was relieving to not have to deal with him anymore

But then the gifts started…

Little things would be left in your work locker or by it, it started with small things but then it progressed to bigger things and it was absolutely clear that you had a stalker

Checking the cameras provided nothing as there would be missing footage from every camera at a specific time like the person who was doing this was deleting the footage from the cameras themselves, it was downright scary and you got permission from your boss to start carrying pepper spray on you at work to defend yourself should the stalker ever appear

The gifts that would be left in your locker didn’t stop as there would be a new one every single day, it started off as semi normal things with each having a strong scent that kind of reminded you of the zoo but eventually they became a lot more weird as you opened your locker to find a good amount of fur on your things

But then one day, they became downright threatening as you found a dead animal inside of your locker bleeding all over your things. You couldn’t help but scream and the police were immediately called as this was getting really dangerous

The police couldn’t do anything as they couldn’t say for certain who had done it so they simply told you to remain safe and call them immediately if something happens

Your co-workers became worried for you as there would be a dead animal of some kind in your locker every single day and your mental health started taking a heavy hit, you started losing sleep causing you to look incredibly disheveled

All the while though, things at the zoo remained semi the same beyond your stalker leaving shit in your locker as you still took care of the animals, you still did the occasional animal show albeit with a co-worker now, and Lucci still watched you from his enclosure

The gifts never stopped and eventually you almost got used to seeing a dead animal in your locker everyday, it was still disturbing but you expected it more now when you opened the locker and found a dead animal bleeding all over it

Eventually your boss called you into their office one day and told you that you had to take care of Lucci now as the last person who was qualified enough to deal with him had quit the day before as they claimed to just not be able to handle it anymore

You were scared as that leopard seemed completely willing to rip your face off the first chance that it got but you were reassured that they’d be waiting with tranquilizer should Lucci even show signs of trying to rip you to shreds

The next day, you said your prayers and got ready for what was probably going to be a painful death by leopard as you went in to clean his enclosure and feed him but as soon as you were inside even though Lucci was right there and still watching you

He never made a single move to try and hurt you in any way, he just followed you around the enclosure staring at you and occasionally rubbing up against you like he was trying to get his scent on you but for the most part, he would simply just hang around and watch you whether it be from the trees or the ground

Lucci was chiller than you thought he was as he even let you pet the top of his head although now that you were closer, you were able to see that he had some pretty bad scarring on his back which the zoo claimed that he’s had since he was a cub

Time passed and you found yourself kind of becoming more calm with Lucci around as you felt weirdly safe whenever you were inside of his enclosure, he never made a move to hurt you after all and the weirdest thing that he did was attempt to push you into his den when you tried to clean it up a little

He was a good animal although he did seem to have a heavy dislike of whenever you left, you felt like you would just be able to chill with him as he didn’t even seem to mind it when you would pet him like he was a house cat and in fact he even seemed to enjoy whenever you would pet him

It was pretty good in reducing your stress and making your mental health better but what really made your mental health better was when the last gift from your stalker showed up in your locker as it wasn’t a dead animal and instead was a note saying that this would be the last thing that he left for you

The contents of the note then went on to ramble about these odd fantasy creatures called Animal Shifters, people who could turn themselves into animals and have the exact same abilities as them while keeping human levels of intelligence and even being smarter than humans as well

The note even spoke about how Animal Shifters prefer to use more animal methods of courting their mates and that they usually take human mates that they turn into Animal Shifters just like them so they can stay together forever

It was a simple thing and you finished it in under a minute but when you were heading back, you saw something as it looked like a person and you assumed that it was just some teenager breaking in to cause trouble as you had that problem in the past

So you shone a flashlight on them to scare them off only to gasp in shock and horror as you immediately recognized who you saw, it was the man who kept appearing and disappearing at the zoo. The guy who always showed up in the suits

He was here and he was staring directly at you with an unreadable expression, your entire body was shaking and you didn’t know what to do but when he suddenly rushed at you, you found it in yourself to at least scream before he knocked you unconscious

You've reached water 7 yaay! Would love to hear your thoughts about all the galley la crew! Their dynamic is so interesting and i love their introduction at the start of the arc

I know this ask was about galley la but here's a collection of a few of my thoughts on water 7 in general!

-starting off with galley la. UMMM!!!! I will say that is one of the twists that genuinely shocked me so far in the series. the fact that half the town gathered to watch them work n fangirl over how strong they all are was so funny, and they seemed like such a tight knit group. I can't imagine working with them for five years as close friends and then finding out they were evil government workers

-lucci was a lot more fun when he was a ventriloquist who made his pet pigeon talk for him lmaooo

-the aesthetics of the water 7 amazes me! I love the design so much! i'm optimistically hoping there will be enough live action seasons that they make it here, and i've been thinking about how they'll put it off especially considering practical effects are so important to them. i'm thinking they'll build small parts of town like the shipyard, franky's house, and a main drag. and perhaps a model like they did in lotr for shots of the city ?

-usopp honey boo boo...................I get where his insecurities come from, and why the merry is so important of him (a piece of his home town) but he really brought the drama huh

-sanji is always more tolerable when he didn't have as much time to fawn over women. he did what he did best -- looking Cool smoking cigs and kicking ass. he's always so much cooler when he's on his solo missions and as soon as he's back with the crew the Dumbass gene takes over. I also DID think it was funny when he left the love note for nami in paint on the wall

-luffy getting stuck in a wall TWICE!!!!!!!! and being so in sync with zoro. naps at the same time. breaking into places at the same time. their little tag team move on the train.

-i've already talked about them in another post but franky n iceburg have one of the most interesting dynamics i've seen in the series. they make me ill. shipbuilder and ship demolitioner. mayor and criminal. they can never be friends but they'll always be brothers. etc

-franky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on the fence for like 2 seconds but the blue haired hawaiian shirt wearing freak of nature won me over. he's so silly. he has a cola cooler in his stomach. he runs around in a speedo causing mischief. I love him. new little bug i'm shaking in a jar

-the two train station workers are two of my fave minor characters. they're eavesdroppers who live for gossip. they're making up love triangles and shipping strangers. good for them. good for them.

-nami literally cares for her crew so much. begging luffy to talk to usopp. crying / collapsing with joy when she found out robin didn't hate them. running into the path of a tsunami for luffy.

-luffy always gets this little :o face when he sees someone cry or hears their story. and he uses them as a power up. like yah he was angry but now he's REALLY!!! angry

-sanji's relationship w usopp. this arc revealed sanji ARGUABLY knows him the best

-oh tom :/

-the people of water 7 are v kind and live as a giant community which I think may have come from their struggles before the sea train came to town. the man who gave usopp the lumber and food. franky and co protecting the city. the shipbuilders / paulie helping nami luffy zoro n chopper. the townspeople rallyiing around iceburg and willing to risk their lives for him.

-the going merry :( I knew i'd eventually have to say goodbye to her but when I heard galley la say she was damaged beyond repair I was like no!!!!! NO!!! it's too soon!!!!!!!

-the found family of it all

The second half of One Piece Academy Chapter 39 is up!

Chapter begins with Hyouta(Lucci,) is grilling Klahadore about the way he pushes his glasses up, drawing a comparison to the way "Captain Kuro" does it.

Klahadore deflects the Kuro comparison and says it's simply more convenient for him to push his glasses up the way he does. Lucci doesn't seem convinced and keeps pressing the connection.

Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji are nearby and begin saying the connection may be there, leading an upset Kaya to confront them about it and says that there is no way Klahadore could be Kuro.

Cut to some guy showing up, along with Jango, then boldly proclaiming that he is Captain Kuro and that he loves plans. Jango is playing along. Lucci seems skeptical though goes over to Jango and the guy acting as Kuro, greeting them.

Something I noticed with this update, Lucci's full undercover name seems to be Hattori Hyouta. Bwahaha that's amazing.

We jump ahead in time a bit to the Black Cat Pirates meeting up and talking more about their plans, plus what they want to eat for dinner. Seems they decided to go to a place with pasta and a drink bar.

The next day, Class 1-1, Kaya, and Klahadore go to some tower that Kaya used to visit often I believe. The text is very small.

Some big guys are waiting at the top of the tower and attack Usopp, Kaya, and Klahadore. Usopp and Klahadore attack and send em' flying off the tower. The action looks pretty cool. The rest of Class 1-1 arrive soon after, tossing Usopp and Klahadore off the tower as well… not.

The Student Council(cp9) head to the tower that night and investigate for clues to connect Klahadore to Kuro.

The next day, Kaya invites Class 1-1 to her mansion where they have a feast, hang out, Nami, Koby, and Vivi do some studying, Chopper is with Marco(who is just casually holding a pineapple, as one does,) and Law.

Chapter ends with Kuro grumbling about how none of this is part of his plan. Aww don't be such a sour grape, Kuro. Everyone is having fun.

Hey, I’m really glad that you like that AU so much! I’m planning to write for it more in the future but I have some other things to do first like answering requests and getting into some other AU’s that I personally enjoy

Like Love Apocalypse AU, Containment AU, or Crane Game AU but those are all things that I’ll talk about some other day as right now, let’s answer your questions!

So what keeps turned animal shifters from turning back into people is a good question especially when it comes to Lucci’s S/O and I’m gonna be honest that I hadn’t much thought about it when I made Skin into Fur but now I think I have some good reasons for why

Typically when I dick around with Animal Shifter AU’s, I usually imagine that when an animal shifter gets pregnant then they’re stuck in the form that they were impregnated in until they give birth so you’re either a human for 9 months, an animal for 9 months, or a furry for 9 months

Because the Reader was in a leopard form when they were impregnated by Lucci, they’re now stuck in the body of leopard until they give birth to their cubs but even then it’s not advised for a mother to switch forms too much after giving birth as it could cause some potential issues

As for when Reader would have recovered enough for her to be able to change forms, there’s also something stopping her there and it’s that I can imagine that changing forms for an animal shifter can be a bit tricky especially if you were just turned like Reader

Like it seems somewhat complicated to me at least cause you’re basically willing a transformation of your whole body and although it’s simple for people like Lucci and Kaku because they’ve been animal shifters their whole lives and have been thoroughly taught how to change forms, Reader hasn’t been an animal shifter for too long and hasn’t been taught

Lord knows as well that Lucci isn’t going to teach her either plus if I were the Reader then I don’t think it would be a good idea to change even if I knew how to do so then you would be naked upon turning into a human so imagine trying to explain why you, a missing person turned up naked in the leopard enclosure

So chances are that Lucci will only teach you how to turn into a human when animal shifters become the dominant species of earth and by then, there will be no one to help you as everyone will be an animal shifter just like you

Also quick explanation on the dominant species thing is that animal shifters see humans as a disease on earth so they want to exterminate them by either killing them or turning them into animal shifters, the only reason that they haven’t completely taken over is because they’re trying to do it stealthily

The Reader isn’t the first person to go missing only to have become an animal shifter after all, there’s been loads of accounts of people going missing near zoos and after getting new strangely intelligent pets in the recent years in this world

When it comes to Lucci’s day to day interactions with the Reader, I can personally imagine that Lucci is a leopard with a schedule like he always has been even before he laid his eyes on you for the first time so chances are that he did rework things a bit after he finally got Reader

Like things that he has added to his schedule is that he has to make sure that you don’t leave the den as you’re pregnant with his cubs now and he doesn’t want anything happening to you like any zookeepers tranquilizer darting you and dragging you off to be examined

He can’t and won’t let that happen so you’re staying in the den even if he has to drag you back in there by your tail or by the scruff of your neck

Like I can just imagine that when you think Lucci is napping while some zookeepers clean his enclosure, you run out of the den to hopefully get some help like you’re hoping that you’ll get carted off to be examined and in doing so they’ll realize who you are and find a way to put you back to normal

But chances are that before you can even find the zookeeper, Lucci’s pouncing down onto you and pinning you to the ground. He definitely growls into your ear and probably gives you a bite to remind you that you’re not getting away from him before he drags you back to the den

If you’re fighting on the way there to hopefully get someone’s attention and help then that won’t end well as whoever comes to help is just going to be mauled by him then once you return to the den, he isn’t above forcing you to be submissive to him again as it just has to be in full leopard form this time

Another of his daily interactions with you that’s besides talking to you would probably be taking food to you whenever it’s feeding time like he definitely has to make sure that you’re properly fed and watered as you’re his mate and you have cubs in your belly

I wouldn’t recommend trying to refuse food or water though as some kind of protest against him because more than likely that will just anger him off to no end like you are going to eat and you are going to drink even if he has to force it down your throat and trust me, it will likely be easy for him to do so

So really there’s no point in refusing so whenever Lucci drags food to the den, it’s better to just eat what you’re given plus it isn’t so bad as Lucci does give you some of the best parts of the food along with bigger portions of it

As for one of his last daily interactions with you, I know that I said that Lucci wouldn’t teach you how to turn into a human but he will at least teach you how to do some proper leopard stuff like he’s going to show you just some basic things

Like you’re a Leopard now and you don’t even know how to properly groom yourself or other leopards for that matter so he is going to teach you that just so you can properly clean yourself and your cubs when they’re born

The things that Lucci teaches you aren’t going to be very interesting though as they’re just going to be basic things so don’t expect to learn like how to climb trees or fight with your claws, he probably doesn’t even want to teach you how to walk on four legs in all honesty

Makes you easier to deal with as you can’t get too far from the den without him seeing you most of the time as you can’t walk on all fours and even if you can, you’re probably wobbly and awkward as all like you’ll eventually get the hang of it but for right now, you can’t really walk

Basically like you might have an absolute ace when walking on two legs like most humans are but now you have four legs that you’ve never had to walk on a single day in your life so that’s gonna take some getting used to

He probably even teaches you how to properly lay in the den when the cubs are born so you can warm them up with your body heat, protect them from harm, and make it so that they have access to your milk as well

As for if Lucci ever changes into his human form? He would but definitely only at night, sometimes he would sit in the den to just talk to you or stare at you for long periods of time which would very much make you feel like an actual animal in the zoo

But sometimes he would leave the enclosure to do some things like meet up with some of the other animals around the area for example, the Giraffe Enclosure and the Wolf Enclosure alongside the Bull Enclosure but never the Panda Enclosure as the Panda is far too annoying

You might get lonely during these times if you can’t sleep but don’t worry too much as Lucci will be back soon and he might even have brought something for you if you were good like some human food that he took from one of the zoo’s establishments or maybe even a comfy blanket to lay on

During the day though, Lucci would still talk with you but it’s more than likely all in leopard so all anyone else can hear is just typical leopard noises coming from inside of the enclosure

As for whether or not, you can understand it though? I’d assume that you could understand it like it’s a bit difficult to grasp it at first as “Holy fuck, I can understand him” but give it a week or so then you can understand him fully

In terms of the things that he might say to you though? He’d probably talk about how the world will belong to the animal shifters soon enough and how you should be glad that he took you as his mate instead of killing you

Once your belly starts getting bigger as well, he’d more than likely talk about your cubs and how he intends to raise them with you once they’re born like I can even imagine him resting his head on you and purring just a little as he does this
