A very TUA Halloween - comic

This labour of love has left me frantically creating into the wee hours of Halloween morning just to get it up in time.

As my first time drawing the entirety of The Nightmare Siblings, I'm happy to have gotten a version of them down on 'paper', I want to get more confident portraying them, but a start is a start!

Either way, this was fun, and who doesn't want to see these guys pumpkin carving?

#krampus #krampus (2015)#2023filmgifs #my gifs #tw: horror #it's 2 Dec and so the Christmas films begin #no it won't just be Christmas horror #sadly not so many Christmas horror films that I'm actually interested in #too many damned slashers #which bore me to tears #give me the Christmas supernatural horror #that's my shit #and too little of that around #luckily i love Michael Dougherty films #and he did not disappoint #i just love his visuals and his sense of humour so much #it's just as dark and grim and fucked up as mine #and his visuals are as gorgeous as i want #it's an actual delight to make gifs of his films #cos you brighten them up and there's all this detail that literally comes to light #whereas other films you brighten them #and it still looks like shit #but no his films have texture and interesting detail #three out of three films i've watched of his now #and i've loved every one #not much characterisation here #but that's okay #it's the actual story and its dark sensibility that i enjoy so much #and how fucken hawt is that krampus tongue #fuck yeah

it's awfully refreshing to see a rise in malevolent galas again, and i'm preeet-ty sure your popularity's playing into it. grrrrrrr yes! let that boy kill! let him scheme and conspire! let him wreak havoc like the true planet-destroying fiend he is!

waaahaaa i'm so delighted to hear it! i will be completely honest, i was extremely nervous to post that very first comic with him in (where he was undeniably malicious) because almost every other headcanon i'd seen of him at that point is that he is Just Misunderstood and Actually A Good Guy or, at the very least, perhaps currently acting out but still Redeemable With A Heart Of Gold

and those are amazing too! not a single piece of shade on those characterisations; they are genuinely cathartic tropes and i love to see them- for him or anyone else. but it made me quite scared to have to just be like... 'anyway he is extraordinarily and wilfully cruel in my headcanons and stories!!'

so it really means a lot to me that you enjoy this characterisation!! and that you think possibly it's having an impact on other folks' characterisations in a positive or refreshing way! that's such an honour! i was scared people would loathe my storytelling or characterisation of their favourite blorbo (i still fear it, ngl) or even think that i like... don't like him. but the thing is that i love him. i love him to bits and pieces and because of how much i love him i've done him the ultimate honour of assigning him Irredeemable All-powerful Villain and allowed him free reign to bite and kill

because of the nature of minecraft roleplay and how much of themselves the cc’s likely put into their characters, and the connected fact that human personalities are often messy and inconsistent, there is no way to actually write any of these characters as perfectly in character. there’s too much nuance in them for that. so there really isn’t a singular right way to portray any of them. however there are many, many wrong ways to portray certain characters and their personalities

watched red riding 1974 exclusively for robert sheehan ( andrew garfield was a great bonus ) and i’m climbing the walls at the lack of BJ content anywhere on the internet, i thought being a misfits fan was tough but this is a new low

i want to know everything about him and it’s frustrating me that there isn’t even a fandom page 😭 i did find this first revision script in a desperate attempt for more content and i was surprised to find the alley scene is a lot more charged and aggressive than it is in the film

like???? there’s so much tension in the original scene and imagining it like this is something else, eddie doesn’t have to be such an arse though . i know he's stressed out of his mind but come on, it isn't as bad as the section i got from the book though, andrew garfield makes eddie so much more tolerable. i'd love to see them working together more, there's a lot of potential there for development between them, a crime thriller with gay undertones would be so much more enjoyable

there's also this, BJ not smiling in the film is arguably better, but i think it's sweet here anyway, it's actually humiliating BJ's 2 seconds of screen time has effected me this much

IS IT NOT JUST!!!!!! foa just sticks out to me as being a comforting game, just because it feels so loving towards its 'outcast' cast, who are all so incredible!!!! the kindness they show towards the pc, and how eventually the pc slowly joins their chosen family !!!! it's got a very lovely slowburn element to it too, and the ending feels earned, but still open to what's next !!!!!!!!!!!! i need foa 2 fr and i'm so glad that i got you to play it omg <3 :)

#really do love the pacing of foa and its obvious that the pc doesnt Know this cast (maybe hermes depending on playthrough?) but there's like #a sense of belonging and earning their trust that rly pays off. ESPECIALLY ALEKTO !!!!! that line that i think kokytos says during the part #'And I think you fit here. Like something that was missing from the landscape has grown into it after all.'#not to mention that foa is the trans autism greek mythology game so that by itself had me playing it and loving it #a canon autistic leading man (hades is arguably this even if the ROs get equally options. this is a hades/persephone retelling..)#and nd cast members. and fun designs. and interesting characterisation that differs from the typical greek myth retellings #it all makes for a very vivid and beautiful game. achingly kind. Im sorry but can I just rant for a second about how much I FREAKING LOVE Peach in LM3❤️💕:

First of all, for the third pic, I am manifesting the head canon of peach being a passionate homemaker and decorator for the castle in the Mushroom kingdom.

Also I was DYING when Toad made the crack at Peach for being so practical to the point of overpacking for the trip in the second pic.

Like, she’s a highly fashion-conscious princess, Odyssey already proved that, so it makes sense that she’d want to be prepared for any event that may go on at the resort.

And for the first pic, This really shows just how forgiving and considerate Peach is when she’s willing to help the people who supposedly aided in imprisoning her and her friends, by helping the ghosts rebuild the hotel.

Look at her in the hard hat using the drill MY GIRL HAS MANY TALENTS❤️😄

Even when your walking around exploring other peoples rooms, you can see that Peach’s parasol is bent and out in the open in her room, implying that she actually FOUGHT at first to prevent her capture.

Like, LM3 just added SO much personality and charm to the Mario cast, Peach included. So if we can defend Mario from the ‘MARIO HAS NO PERSONALITY’ hate group, then we better start doing the same for game Peach from now on.

so like whether someone enjoys eeaao or not generally breaks down to their ability to accept sincerity and absurdity in rapid succession, basically having elasticity when it comes to things that break your immersion and things that require your full immersion, and anyway i think the reason i can do that with so many things (not just eeaao) is because i grew up watching pantomimes

#thunder rambles #wrote this post in a few different ways. decided there was no good way to get my point across. decided on the 'i refuse to elaborate' part #part? sorry i meant method😭im on mobile and im not retyping #anyway heres the elaboration if ur interested #pantomimes are built around a broken down third wall and are largely very superficial and comedic #however you still have scenes where you are immersed in the comedy and forget that its just actors on a stage #and then you have scenes where the actors are talking to you (or forgetting their lines!) and that immersion is broken but that breakage is #owned by the actor #and i watched a lot of these #and yeah yeah everyone nowadays loves absurdism because of the sociapolitical state of the world. so im not special for liking absurdism #but i think i am relatively alone in my ability to switch between absurdity and sincerity so rapidly?#and its the thing that endears me to something the most #so bojack horseman miraculous ladybug eeaao #that back to the future parody that got claimed by incels #all of it has complete tonal whiplash but often carried very well #like i never laugh harder at anything than at an episode of ml #and i am laughing at the intentional jokes but most of the time im mocking the sheer ludicrousness of it all #the plotholes the animation the characterisation whatever #but i do it out of love and im still down for the more serious scenes because they are SOOOO earnest and sweet #anyway yeah same is true for eeaao. hot dog fingers i will defend you forever and always #broken down FOURTH** wall. i swear to god im not drunk😭

i had such a good and interesting characterisation thought re. TK in the context of replying to this ask but i don't remember what it was very clearly and so i'm just. sitting here. trying to trigger the same thought

More for the writer than for Riddick but I wanted to pop in and tell you that I really enjoy the way you portray and write for the blog. You put a lot of thought and effort into your work and it shows- the details are fantastic. Personally, I've followed the series for a long time, even had Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena- watched the movies and comics, the whole thing. So I really enjoy and appreciate the things you do here and am excited to eventually/potentially interact once I find the time to do so. Anyway, all this is just to say I love your writing.
