fallingforyou (2)
// lottie matthew’s does not like you. you’re annoying, preppy, and way too nice. lottie doesn’t fail to show you time after time just how much she hates you. you finally get the message and steer clear of her, until senior year, when you both get paired up for a science project. //
warnings: asshole!lottie, sweet!reader, enemies to lovers, allusions to lottie’s shitty home life, lottie doesn’t know how to deal with her emotions. i picked random names for y/n’s siblings lol.
(this is part 2 of the series, read part 1 here.)
Tumblr media
i read between the lines (i’ll take it one day at a time)
when you tell lottie ‘whenever’, you didn’t actually think she’d show up unannounced on wednesday evening. she’s wearing her soccer practice clothes, and her hair is tied in the usual pigtails it always is in whenever she practices. “y-you’re here.” you stutter a bit stupidly; you’re wearing an oversized sweatshirt and biker shorts that are so short lottie assumes you aren’t wearing any pants. your glasses are off, and your hair is let down in unruly curls. she’s never seen you so… unguarded. she isn’t used to it. usually you’re wearing some girly outfit and those glasses that are almost as dorky as misty quigley’s.
“you told me to come whenever. it’s whenever.” lottie blurts out, as she attempts to walk past you but she stops herself. “sorry.” she mutters as she leans down to untie her cleats. you shake your head quickly, stopping her, “oh it’s okay! you don’t have to do that, my mom doesn’t care about shoes.” you assure her and lottie slowly stands up straight, stopping herself from taking her cleats off. her parents would reprimand her time and time again for wearing shoes in the house. she always thought the rule was stupid, considering her parents didn’t even clean their house. the maids did it for them.
right away lottie notices your house is very loud. there are two younger boys watching tv in the living room, screaming as they talked to each other. “those are my brothers. ignore them. i do.” you dismissively explain as you begin to lead lottie towards the hallway. you stop halfway, turning to gaze at her, “did you want anything to drink? i have soda, water, apple juice…” you trail off, and lottie’s cheeks tint. she’s thirsty; she just finished practicing after all. she nods, “apple juice.” she answers. you nod as you rush to the kitchen, leaving her standing alone.
“y/n!!” a loud, angry, feminine voice from the end of the hall causes lottie to look over in the direction it’s coming from. she sees an older girl standing by an open bedroom, waiting for you to respond. “y/n!!” she shouts again, “she’s in the kitchen.” lottie answers bluntly, in order to avoid from hearing the college student shriek again. “i was getting juice! do you have to yell so loudly?” you ask cattily, in a tone lottie has never heard from you. lottie immediately remembers what you said the other day, about your older sister being a bitch.
your older sister marches up to you, fury in her eyes and for a second lottie is afraid the older girl might punch you in the face. “i need you to tell me if this outfit makes me look fat.” she says sternly and lottie watches the interaction in shock, as you shake your head. “no, i think it’s cute— hey is that my top!?” you shriek, and the older girl lets out a tinkling laugh as she rushes away and retreats back into one of the bedrooms. “elise!! i haven’t even worn that yet!“ you whine, but the only response you get is more obnoxious laughter.
you sigh, handing lottie a glass of cold apple juice. “i told you she’s a bitch.” you point out as you begin to lead lottie down the hallway. the room all the way at the end is yours, and as soon as lottie walks in she sees all the books on your shelves above your bed. she then notices how pink your bedsheets are, and how much color there is around the room. it’s not too much color, but it’s clear you’re unintentionally a very colorful person. there are polaroid pictures of you and your siblings around the room; some on your desk, some pinned on the wall. you even have a few of you and nat.
lottie sees the baby pictures and the ones of you and your older sister as babies in a bath tub together. another little girl who looks just like you seems to appear in the pictures after elise is already three, and you’re one. then after that, the little girl is by your side in every picture; practically glued to your side. you always look so happy in each snapped moment, even in the ones you aren’t smiling in, your eyes show you’re happy and safe. another thing lottie realizes she envies about you. your house is twice as small as hers, with twice as many people… it’s loud and the living room is messy…
… yet lottie likes your house more than hers, and she’s only been here for ten minutes. maybe that’s why natalie’s always over here; always talking about hanging out at your place after parties. you never went to any parties… lottie’s only seen you at one and after that you didn’t come to any more. you’ve never shown up at any of hers that’s for sure. “that’s my little sister.” you interrupt her thoughts, as you notice her eyeing the pictures. “you two look… close.” she observes, and you giggle as you take a seat on your bed, reaching for your backpack on the floor. “yeah, don’t tell elise but sabrina was technically my first friend ever. i tell her everything.” you admit and lottie nods.
“i’ve seen her around school. i didn’t even know she was your sister.” she confesses, causing you to shrug. “she’s working on being the most ‘popular’ girl in school. she’s been a little busy.” you half joke and lottie nods, “she’s on the jv cheer team, right?” she asks curiously as you flip open your chemistry notebook. “yup. she’s been following becky martin around like a puppy since the year started.” you answer curtly and lottie snorts at the obvious change in your tone. “what? jealous your little sister is becoming more popular than you?” she questions with a taunting sneer, and you frown.
“no, i don’t care about that. sabrina is pretty, of course she’s gonna be more popular. i just don’t think she needs to be like becky martin to do it.” you explain, and lottie is a bit surprised by the truthfulness of your response, and before she can reply, you’re beating her to it. “so i was thinking you could do all the physical presenting, and i can just recite everything and write it all. of course you’re gonna help by giving me your ideas and what you think…” you trail off, before looking at her. “is that okay with you?” you inquire, and she nods. “yeah, that’s fine. whatever.” she sounds like she doesn’t care and this makes you shake your head, holding yourself back from saying something snarky.
lottie isn’t the only one who gets snappy when she’s annoyed, you’re just better at biting your tongue than she is.
over the next few days, lottie shows up at your house after practice ends, and she stays until after the sun sets. she doesn’t mean to stay for that long. the first day she came over, she genuinely just lost track of time. for some reason being around you isn’t as torturous as she thought it would be. in fact, being around you, especially in a cozy home that seems full of lightheartedness and noise… is shockingly nice. particularly because she knows what’s waiting for her at home. absolutely nothing.
right away the other yellowjackets notice a change in lottie’s behavior. she isn’t snappy or angry anymore; sure she still talks shit whenever someone tries her, but that’s how lottie’s always been. natalie is the first who notices lottie isn’t scowling or grumpy anymore. mari is especially thankful for it during soccer practice. “so, y/n told me you’ve actually been a decent human being to her.” natalie starts, as she walks out of the locker room with lottie. it’s monday, and practice had just ended a little later than expected.
“if that’s what she wants to call it, then yeah, sure.” lottie mutters, as she makes her way to the parking lot. “hey, before you go, y/n told me to tell you not to show up to her house today. something came up.” natalie causes lottie to stop in her tracks, not even caring that her driver was waiting for her in the car. “what do you mean? she didn’t tell me anything.” lottie says and natalie chuckles, “said she couldn’t find you after lunch.” the blonde’s response is simple yet it doesn’t seem to satisfy lottie. “what came up? she literally said she was free every day after school.” lottie sounds annoyed now.
natalie looks a bit puzzled for a second, before a wave of realization hits her. “wait… are you actually upset you can’t go to y/n’s today? i figured you’d be thrilled.” natalie says in this unrecognizable way that makes lottie glare. “i’m not upset about anything! excuse me if i just want to get this project over with.” lottie hisses defensively, and natalie only smirks in response. “uh, okay matthews; whatever you say. just don’t show up at her house today, okay?” she asks warningly, making lottie roll her eyes. “i heard you the first time.” the raven haired girl snaps.
and just like that, lottie’s bad mood returns. who would’ve guessed that charlotte isobel matthews would actually enjoy being in your cramped house, and inside of your girly bedroom.
lottie knows you didn’t cancel yesterday on purpose. she knows you’ve been smiling more at her in the hallways, and she knows she’s definitely been nicer to you over the last few days than she ever has in her high school career. maybe it’s because instead of being stuck in her big empty house after school, she’s spending her days cramped up in your room, or noisy living room… the smell of whatever your mother had made for lunch still lingering in the air. lottie enjoyed it. perhaps that’s why the next day at school she takes her bad mood out on you. she bumps shoulders with you when you try to talk to her in the hall, walking past you as if she didn’t even hear you.
she didn’t even look back to see the frown on your face. you couldn’t help but feel confused and a bit sad; you figured you both were over this silly, pointless feud. this stupid, meaningless battle. but it was like lottie had other ideas. right when you thought you two were on the same page, she proved to you that you weren’t even reading the same book. you try not to think about lottie the entire day, but it’s hard. you notice her at lunch; she doesn’t even look at you. that isn’t abnormal, but she has this everlasting scowl on her face. when fifth period finally rolls around, you can’t help but feel a bundle of nerves budding inside the pit of your stomach. seeing lottie matthews always has this affect on you.
lottie’s already in class when you walk in, and this time, her head tilts to the side, and her dark eyes lock with yours. your breath gets lodged in your windpipe, and your step falters on your way to your seat. you try your absolute hardest not to look at lottie, or her insufferably pretty face. you take your note book and chemistry book out, along with a pencil, before averting your gaze forward. (even though the class hasn’t even started yet.)
the bell rings, and the rest of the students shuffle in, taking a seat before your teacher starts blabbering on and on. it’s usually easy to keep yourself busy during class; easy to focus… but for some reason, sharing a class with lottie matthews seems to be a curse. you can never seem to concentrate fully. when someone taps on your back, you turn around and jenny myers hands you a folded note. you furrow your eyebrows, as she gestures to lottie who’s not even bothering to look at you. you take the note and face forward again.
“you skipping out on me again today?”
you turn your head to glare at the raven haired jock after reading the note. she only smirks at your clearly agitated expression, feeling a wave of satisfaction at being the one to frustrate you. you quickly look down at the note, and scribble something back.
“i was at my grandmas house yesterday. sorry, jerk.”
you pass the note back to lottie, and you avert your attention onto ms. weinstein again who is now talking about another subject. you mentally curse lottie matthews for being so fucking distracting.

¬ summary: spider!lottie saves you from a criminal. established relationship but reader doesn't know she's spidey yet :) ¬ warnings: cursing, gun mentions (nothing happens), slight violence + injury. gn!reader ¬ word count: 2.5k.... i swear this was supposed to be a drabble
it’s a quiet night tonight.
well. as quiet as it can get in the city that never sleeps. but you’re not necessarily in the city — you’re on the outskirts, waiting for a bus back home — so it's way calmer. you were visiting a friend, got a little carried away (see: watching three bad horror movies instead of just one), and now you're definitely gonna have to wait a while until you can catch a ride to the city.
you sigh, sitting down on the bench. you wish you had lottie there to keep you company, but she had to stay behind and study for an upcoming biochem test. you curse her for being such a responsible student and you curse nyu for existing, and then you take out your phone because you should probably shoot her a text.
at the bus stop now :) see u soon, you write.
you don’t expect her to reply quickly, considering that she usually leaves her phone in the other room when she wants to focus on something. you’re surprised to see her read it immediately, type for a few seconds, then disappear again. you’re about to ask her about it when she calls you instead.
“hard at work, i see.” you say in lieu of a greeting, and you can almost hear her eyes roll.
“i’m taking a break. don’t be a brat.”
“why’d you call?”
“i wanted to hear your voice. i miss you.”
you chuckle. “it’s been, like, six hours. you’re ridiculous.”
despite your teasing, you think it’s cute — and she knows that. she knows how easily you melt at her sweet words and soft smiles.
“well, i also wanted to talk with you while you wait. you know, make sure you’re safe. i don’t like the idea of you being out alone so late at night.” she argues.
“and that’s very sweet of you,” you say, smiling. “but there’s literally nobody here. you don’t have to worry about me, you should go study.”
she groans. “but this lesson is so boring. and i’m only revising now, anyway. it’s not that important.”
“lottie.”
“fine… but if you get kidnapped, don’t blame me.”
“as if you could do anything about it all the way from our apartment!”
“i would think of something.”
and you open your mouth to tell her to just go already, but your words die in your throat as you feel something hard and cold pressed against your back. the next voice you hear comes from behind you, not from the phone, and it's much deeper and rougher than your girlfriend's.
“hang up. right now.”
fuck. did you accidentally manifest getting kidnapped? you're frozen in both fear and indecision, bar your shaking hand. was that a gun or a knife? you want to tell lottie to call the police, but you're also afraid of what the man would do to you if you did. what if he kills you anyway? fuck, fuck, fuck.
“baby?” you hear her confused voice at the same time as he shouts: “i said now!”
you want to tell her you love her before you end the call, fearing that you might never get another chance, but you find yourself too paralyzed to speak. instead, you press the button and drop the phone, hearing it shatter as it hits the ground. you know she knows anyway.
the man speaks again, and you realize his voice is muffled by what must be a ski mask. “give me all your money. come on.”
you shake your head, eyes welling up. “i don't have anything on me, i swear.”
“don't make me hurt you. just give me your fucking wallet.”
“please,” you somehow manage to say as you show him your pockets are empty. “i already told you, i don't have my wallet with me.”
“and i don't believe you. what about your bag?”
you feel your heart rate picking up as he gets more aggressive in both his tone and actions — you're going to have a bruise with how strongly he's pressing his gun to you. if he doesn't actually pull the trigger, that is.
you slowly reach for your bag. you really don't have anything valuable in there, besides headphones and a water bottle. maybe he'll be satisfied with just that if he's particularly thirsty.
you open it up and shift it vaguely towards where he's standing. “see? no money. please just—”
you're interrupted by a sudden thwip sound behind you. weird sound for a gun to make, you think, before you realize it's not the gun that you heard, but rather what grabbed it. a thin, but seemingly firm, spiderweb-like fluid, swiftly tugging it towards—
spider-woman. holy shit.
“have you ever considered getting a job? it's this thing where you contribute to society and get paid, instead of mugging innocent people at night.” she says, tossing the gun aside.
your mind is still racing, but you have the common sense to step away from the guy. it's only when you turn to look at him for the first time that you realize he doesn't need a weapon to be able to hurt you — he's massive. and now, it seems, pretty angry too.
“not you again,” he growls. “mind your fucking business.”
she jumps down from the tree she was in, elegantly landing a few feet away from you. her gaze doesn't leave him, however.
“the safety of people who live here is my business.”
he scoffs. “what are you gonna do, then? arrest me?”
“something like that.”
he lunges towards her before she can make the first move, looking ready to strangle her. she's too quick for someone like him, though, and she dodges every punch he tries to throw her way. you assumed she'd immobilize him with the web or something, but then again, what do you know. maybe she's just too busy trying not to get beat up.
they spar for a minute or two, the guy holding up better than you thought he would. you should probably run away or call the police (scratch that, she just stepped on your phone and you swear you heard a crack! in between all the grunts and hits), but you're so captivated by the whole situation that you can't look away. it's not every day you get to see spider-woman up close.
she kicks his side and manages to shoot the web into his eyes while he's catching his breath. he winces and swears loudly, stumbling back. he's scratching at it, and you can tell it's very tough to get it off.
“oh, fuck this!” he exclaims before she can do anything else.
still functionally blind, he starts running away, slamming against you in the process. he's clearly not impacted by it because he just continues running off, but you are. it was too forceful for you to stay on your feet, and in a flash, you're on the ground, dull pain in your head from hitting the bench.
“ow…” you mumble, reaching to touch the back of your head.
you feel blood under your fingers. great. you think about telling spider-woman to call the ambulance before she goes to catch the bad guy, but she's hurrying towards you before you even have to ask. you can't see her face, but you can tell by her voice that she's worried.
“are you okay?” she asks. “oh, god, is that blood?”
you hum in response, starting to feel a little dizzy. your eyelids suddenly feel heavier, too.
“no, no, don't pass out. talk to me. what do you feel?”
you blink a few times, trying to stay awake. “i don't know… i feel dizzy. and in shock. and it hurts.”
she sighs. “i know, but you can't fall asleep, okay? please. you'll be okay, i just have to get you to a hospital.”
“aren't you going to run after him?”
“that guy? no, i'll just find him later,” she turns to look at your bag. “do you have any tissues or something? we should apply pressure to— you know.”
“no,” you shake your head. “it's fine, i'll just…”
you try to get up, but you soon realize you didn't just hurt your head. you feel sharp pain in your ankle, too. you're not entirely sure you could stand up if you tried.
spider-woman notices, and she seems even more concerned. “it's not fine. i'll carry you.”
“you can't exactly swing around if your hands are occupied.”
“then i'll walk,” she retorts, inching closer so she can look at your head. “are you sure you don't have anything we can use for that?”
“positive.”
she looks back into your eyes. “you're bleeding a lot.”
she's still for a few seconds. you wonder if she's finally considering the logistical nightmare that would be carrying you to a hospital. you wonder if she's just going to give up leave you there, bleeding and unable to move.
then, she takes a deep breath and removes her mask, pressing it firmly to your wound, and you wonder if you've gone insane, because the eyes you make contact with are lottie's, and there's no way that isn't a hallucination, right?
you don't get the privilege of processing this information, though, because the pressure is painful and makes you feel lightheaded again, and soon enough, you pass out.
— 🕷 —
your eyes sting when you finally open them. it's too bright in the room, both because of the sunlight and because of how… white and clean everything is.
so she did get you to a hospital.
you sit up, beginning to register the dull pain that's still present in the back of your head. you look around, and there she is — curled up on a chair beside your bed, blissfully asleep. you smile at how cute she looks, but then you remember last night, and your smile is replaced by a tight feeling in your chest.
she can't actually be spider-woman… right?
you clear your throat, not really willing to wait to find out. you hope the conversation you're about to have will be less confusing than the thoughts floating around in your head.
“lottie?” you call out.
her eyes immediately snap open, then widen when she realizes you're up. she shifts in the chair, clearly nervous.
“oh my god, you're awake. how are you feeling?”
“i'm fine.” you pause. “how are you feeling?”
she seems to stiffen. she just looks at you, as if she's trying to think of what to say.
“you know, since that guy got in quite a few punches.” you add.
she sighs, looking away. “i thought you were already passed out when i… when i took off the mask. your eyes were already closing.”
it's a confirmation, and you're almost surprised that she didn't try to act confused or change the subject. but it's lottie, and she's never been good at lying to you.
(despite the fact that she hid her superhero identity from you for the whole duration of your relationship. although, in hindsight, there were a couple of times where it was your own fault you didn't connect the dots.)
you shake your head. “no, i saw you.”
you can’t really read her; the look on her face — is it shame or relief? maybe it’d be easier to tell if she just looked at you, or said something. anything but the uncomfortable silence filling the room right now.
“i’m also fine,” she says after a few moments, “knuckles were a little bruised but i heal pretty quickly.”
you nod, relieved to hear that, ignoring how surreal everything about this is. you’re not sure which is harder to process — the fact that you had a gun to your back or the fact that the person who saved you from getting shot was spider-woman, who is actually your girlfriend. your chest feels heavy again. she finally looks at you, and you open your mouth to ask her something, but you both speak at the same time.
“how did—”
“i’m sorry for—”
“you can go first.” you say, offering a small smile.
“i’m sorry i never told you. i wanted to, but it’s just… difficult to get the words out. i didn’t want you to worry, either, that’s the main reason. you already have enough on your plate.” a beat. “but now that you know… it’s fine if you want to break up. i lied to you, and i know it’d be stressful knowing this, so.”
your eyes widen. “what? lottie, i’m not gonna break up with you.”
and, well, you’re pretty sure the look on her face is relief now.
“no?” she asks quietly, and your heart breaks a little as you realize she fully believed what she said.
“no, of course not. oh my god. come here.”
you shift a little to the side so she can sit next to you, and she does, albeit a little hesitantly. you pull her closer, enjoying the warmth as her body presses into yours. you slide an arm around her waist and pull her in for a gentle kiss, before putting your head on her shoulder.
“are you sure you’re not mad?” she asks.
“i guess i’m more in shock than anything else.”
she tenses a little. “i can’t believe this happened to you. i’m so sorry, i should have stopped him, i…”
“lottie.” you look up at her. “you did what you could. which, speaking of, how did you get there so quickly?”
she grins. “i have my ways.”
you roll your eyes, then close them again, burying your face in her shoulder. a few moments pass where you’re just holding each other in silence, and if you hadn’t just woken up from a coma, you would fall asleep on the spot. as it is, though, you just sit there, breathing in her perfume.
“does anyone else know?” you ask after a while.
“not really, no. i didn’t want anyone to get wrapped up in this.”
“really? i figured you’d have laura lee as your sidekick or something. you know, have her pray for you every time you go out to do your thing.”
she laughs. “i didn’t think of that. it’s not an entirely bad idea.”
you weakly slap her on the arm. “hey, no. i’m helping you now. i won’t tolerate competition.”
“helping me? you don’t plan on getting a costume of your own, do you?”
“mmm, i was thinking more along the lines of patching you up when you get home. i like seeing you shirtless.”
she grins and pulls you in for another kiss, a little less gentle this time. she slides her arms down to your waist and you let her press your bodies together as tightly as physics allow, melting into her. you still have a lot of questions — both about the life she’s been leading behind your back and the life you two are going to have from now on — but they can wait. for now, you’re content with just getting to kiss her senseless until a nurse comes for a check up.

lott modelling new clothes she bought for you to cheer you up after a rough day :(((
lottie matthews x reader
I love cute little blurb ideas like these <333
her shopping bags landed messily on the bed as she crawled on top of you, shifting so you were between her legs and she could press her forehead against yours. "you okay, baby?" lottie murmurs, kissing you softly.
you shake your head, leaning into the kiss and not letting her lips go. finally, she pulls away, looking at you seriously as a sigh leaves your mouth, "I had a shitty day," you reply. she pouted, pressing another kiss against your lips before pulling away.
"well, I finally used my t.k. maxx credit up, do you wanna see some of the stuff I bought?" lottie asks, you nod eagerly, your mood lighting up immediately. she laughs at this, but crawls off you and opens some of the bags. "close your eyes," you do as instructed and wait patiently until she allows you to open them again.
her first outfit is cute, a pink miniskirt and a white top. she gives a little spin, flourishing with a small curtsy. "you look like a Barbie doll," you tease, she flicks her hair behind her shoulders and blows you a kiss, before getting unchanged again. you close your eyes, letting her next outfit be a surprise.
lottie shows off five more outfits—making you worry how bad of a habit this whole stealing shitty clothes from t.k. maxx was. finally, she covers your eyes with a scarf she'd bought, "your eyes definitely have to be closed for this next one, because I bought this somewhere else," she whispers, her tone seductive; you grew excited by what she meant.
"you can take the scarf off now," she instructs. once the fabric is ripped off your eyes, your jaw drops at the sight. she was dressed in a scant red lingerie set, showing off her long legs and gorgeous figure. you swear you could feel drool in the corner of your mouth. she giggles at your reaction, twirling around to show off every inch of her. "do you like it?"
you finally unfreeze, gaining the ability to talk again. "I love it," you admire how gorgeous she looked standing before you in her red bra and undies, "in fact, you should wear that more often," she giggles, before crawling on top of you again. you pull her in for a passionate kiss, feeling the full weight of her on top of you, as you grip her waist tightly with you hands. "thank you, my days better already," you mutter against her lips.
a wide smirk appears on lottie's face as she begins moving your hand from her waist further up to her boobs. "just wait until you feel what's underneath it," she teases, shooting you a cheeky wink.

summary: POST-CRASH BTW reader getting caught cheating on shauna at the nature retreat. (WITH LOTTIE 😭)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been a while since you and Shauna really did anything.. you two both got together after Jackie’s death, and then you’ve been looking after her and the baby.
Until recently when Shauna gave birth, the baby didn’t make it. Leading Shauna into heartbreak for a while, she didn’t talk to anyone besides you and Taissa, sometimes Van and Nat.
You’d just hold her whenever you both finished doing your work for the day. Just sitting in the attic, with shauna laying between your legs while you two just lay there in silence before drifting to sleep in each others arms..
But now here you are, at the nature retreat. Shauna was still asleep in the cabin, and she always refused going to them.. she didn’t want you to go there either just incase Lottie’s “wilderness bullshit” got to your mind. And it did.. ending up with Lottie pressed against you at the back of the cabin while everyone else was doing their own stuff after the nature retreat.
Lottie had her hands gently cupping your face, as she pulls you close into the kiss. It lasted a moment before you pulled away, trying to catch her breath.
“Lottie stop- this isn’t right.. it’s not fair on me- it’s not fair on Shauna..” you try to speak, only to be shushed with Lotties lips being crashed back into yours.
“No, it’s okay.. the wilderness wants us to. It wants us to Y/N, it needs to be satisfied.” She whispers, her tone in voice was hushed.. but gentle.
Feeling the amount of guilt all you could do was sigh, and nod.. before giving in. Letting lottie kiss you, this time a bit softer as she lifts you off the ground, pushing you against the wall while your legs wrap around her waist. Until you hear something drop with a loud thud. Both you and Lottie pull away, your eyes widen as a rush of guilt spreads in your chest.
Shauna was staring at the two of you, a mixture of Betrayal, rage, and hurt flooded her eyes. All she did was just run back to the cabin, leaving the logs in the snow. You end up pushing Lottie off yourself before chasing after Shauna.
“Shauna wait!” You shout, Shauna doesn’t stop, she continues to walk.
She ends up going into the cabin, pushing past Taissa. You stop in your tracks when you almost bump into her.
“God, what is that about Y/N?” Tai looks at you with confusion.
“Not the right time now Tai, something happened between Shauna and- and I just want to make sure she’s okay..” you try to move past Taissa until she grabs you by your shoulder, causing you to stop in your tracks.
“Let her be, she looks like she doesn’t want to be bothered, let alone talked to.. so I suggest just giving her some time to cool off?” She says, nudging you back on the path like a neglected cat, getting kicked out of its house for scratching up the sofa.
You look at the floor, before nodding.
“Alright, your right.. I’ll probably just go find Natalie and help out with more chores.” you mumble, before looking back at Taissa.
Tai nods in agreement.
“Sounds good, atta girl Y/N.” she pats you on the back before walking off, probably either going to find Van or do some work.
And that’s what you do, it’s now probably almost dark when you and Nat walk back to the cabin. But that’s when you hear it, shouting. Both you and Natalie run into the cabin in time to see Shauna hook Misty right in the face.
“What the fuck is going on?!” Natalie raises her voice, before pulling Misty away from Shauna. “You killed my fucking baby!” She screams. Van trying to pull Shauna away.
“You all fucking ate my baby! I saw you were all covered in blood!” Shauna continues to yell. Trying to fight Van off her. She ends up biting Van, causing her to cry out.. letting Shauna go, Shauna was about to attack Misty, until Lottie steps infront of Shauna, you stare at the two of them.. going silent.
Lottie stares at Shauna before speaking. “Shauna, we need you. We need you to let it out Shauna.” She says softly.
Before you could even blink. Shauna was beating the living shit out of Lottie, the taller girl was on the ground, getting kicked and stomped on by your own girlfriend.. or maybe ex..? Everyone didn’t do anything, they either just stared or looked away at the mess. After a while Shauna gets exhausted. Pulling away from the fucked up faced girl you see laying on the floor. She makes her way up, staring down at Lottie.
“Lottie.” She says coldly, no sign of remorse in her voice. It took a little while until Lottie coughed up blood, then started to breathe once again. Shauna then stomped her way outside, you followed her outside.. making sure she doesn’t end up freezing. You open the door, causing Shauna to snap a glance at you. Before scoffing, turning back around to look at the snow.
“Listen.. about today..”
“What about today? After finding out my own girlfriend was caught having a make out session with Lottie fucking Matthews?God Y/N, I fucking hate you!!” She interrupts you, her voice was raising.
“It’s not what you think.. I didn’t know what happened.. it all happened so quick!” You shout, causing you both to argue. But it ends up with Shauna sobbing out her frustrations. She started to hit the wooden pillar, it didn’t damage the wood.. but more of her hands.
You wouldn’t just stand by and watch her hurt herself. You quickly grab her hands pulling her close as you crouch down besides her on the steps. Letting Shauna sob in your shoulder.
“I hate you.. I hate you..” she sobs silently in your shoulder. “You’re a cheating.. bitch.” She mumbles. Hitting you on your back tiredly. It only felt like a tap to you. You hold her close.
“You don’t mean that darling..but I still deserve it. ” you mumble, patting her back softly. It felt like knives in shaunas heart as she starts to sob even more in your shoulder.
“… I don’t..” she sniffles. Shaunas hits gets more softer.. and softer.. to the point she gets tired. Shauna goes quiet. Allowing you both to just lay there, her in your arms.
You both go quiet, holding her as she ends up falling asleep in your arms. her arm wrapping around your waist while her free hand is holding onto yours as you look down at her bruised knuckles.
After a moment of silent, you end up carrying her.. into the cabin. ( she’s taller than you- wtf? masc!reader that you? )
The other girls eyes meeting yours then shaunas, by the looks of it, Lottie was taken to the attic.. with Misty watching over her. You set Shauna down on her blanket. No one felt like speaking for the rest of the night.. featuring what they all just witnessed. It all ended with Shauna asleep besides you.. and your girlfriend back.
Don’t worry guys lottie is okay!! ⬇️⬇️

Lottie and Nat take care of you during a panic attack
Tumblr media
SUBMISSION: Older nat and Lottie x f!reader
Reader is having a panic attack/flashback or something and is hurting herself because of it but she’s completely out of it and can’t hear or see anything around her and she ends up in like the woods or something and Nat and Lottie follow her and help calm her down
Everyone had their own cross to bear, you figured. Some peoples were just scarier than others. What you knew, certainly, was that you were utterly exhausted by feeling insane.
You were laying in between Lottie and Nat in bed, snug as a bug in a rug, you could practically hear Natalie singing ring in your ears. Nothing could hurt you if they were both holding onto you, Lottie reasoned. You would be okay.
But they sorely underestimated you.
That familiar squeezing feeling came back, bubbling up your spine and shooting out to the very most corners of your body. It spread around you and toward your face. Your vision blackened, your chest contracted, and you choked for a breath. Then, it was as though your body left this earth. You were back there again.
As in every one of these episodes, you managed to escape and run. You ran, and ran. You ran so hard you thought your ribs were going to break from your ever pounding heart, and you couldn't breathe. You ran so hard your feet were bleeding and bruised, and you would run until your body caught on midair as though you'd hit a brick wall. At that point, you'd wake up.
"Y/N." Natalie was shaking you.
It was cold outside, the brisk air stinging your skin. You ached and your legs were sore. The blackness in your eyes dissipated, and you felt control over your body come back to you.
Thankfully, you hadn't made it far. You were running toward the woods outside of the cabin, and Natalie had put her entire body weight in front of you to prevent you from going any further.
Lottie had been behind you, preventing you from fighting against Nat's embrace.
All of that adrenaline and strength wasted away from your body and you immediately folded to the ground in tears.
"Honey." Lottie bent down, rubbing your shaking back. "We have to get you inside."
She lifted her palms under your armpits and hoisted you upward. You could barely keep yourself standing on your legs. They felt like gelatin beneath you.
Lottie and Nat both walked you back inside, making sure to double check they'd locked the door behind them. They placed you gently back onto the bed.
"It's okay. You're safe." Natalie came up behind you, swallowing you with her legs and arms. "I knew the moment you got up. You weren't going anywhere."
"I feel so fucking insane." You cried.
"You're not insane." Lottie knelt at your feet, her hands covering yours which were cold. The warmness of her palms caused a feeling of pins and needles in your own. "Your body and mind are trying to deal with a significant trauma that is plaguing you. That's not insanity. It makes sense, doesn't it?"
You whimpered, your cheeks stained with tears. "I'm so cold, and my feet hurt, and I'm tired."
Lottie felt the bottoms of your feet, mud coming away with her hand, which she showed to Natalie behind you.
"Let's get into a shower." Natalie stated. "And then we'll get you back into bed."
You agreed to that. The warm water against your tingling skin sounded delightful. Lottie went off to get the water started, and Nat undressed you from your pajamas very gently. "Are you going to come in with me?" You whispered.
"Do you want me to?" Natalie asked, trying to shove your pajama bottoms off of your rear end.
You lifted yourself off the bed just enough for her to get them down to your hips, and you pushed them down your legs. "Both of you..."
Natalie took in the smell of your hair, littering kisses down your neck. "Whatever you want, Y/N." She undressed herself quickly, not wanting to keep you waiting for long.
Lottie peeked out from the bathroom, having had already disrobed herself. "Are you two coming?"
You lifted yourself onto your feet and walked slowly toward your lover, tracking dirty foot prints on the floor. Lottie held her hand up to your chest, encouraging you to take a deep breath, which you did. Your lungs hurt from the panic induced episode you'd just been through, but the air felt good. She guided you toward the shower stall and invited you in.
The shower was huge, with several shower heads, more than enough room for the three of you. You stepped inside, the mud on your feet mingling with the water, running down the drain a dark brown color. Lottie came in next, immediately tending to your hair, followed by Natalie who knelt to your feet to wash them.
You took in a steamy breath, your eyes fluttering shut and your head tilting back as Lottie's long fingers massaged your scalp. Four hands on your body grounded you to this earth. You could almost feel yourself sinking into the tile firmly, like a planted seedling.
"You're so beautiful." Natalie commented, looking up at you, running her hands up your calves, to your thighs.
Lottie pressed up against behind you, your breasts pushing into your shoulder blades, her hips lining up against your ass. "So beautiful, isn't she, Nat?"
A quaint smile finally reached your lips at the gentle touches. Natalie lifted herself up so she could press against your front. You were surrounded, engulfed, by the most feminine love.
"I'm home." You mumbled.
Nat's hands snaked around your waist, Lottie's hands running over your rear with such tenderness. Their mouths kissed you sweetly.
"Of course you're home, silly." Natalie teased. "You never left."

Chapter 2/3 Lottie Matthews only ever wanted to keep her friends safe--a dream that gets just a little more complicated when two Natalie Scatorccios appear on her doorstep at the same time.
Natalie is supposed to be hunting. She’s sick of it, honestly. Sick of taking the gun out, filling her pockets with bullets like they’re going anywhere. Sick of the wind scraping her skin raw. Sick of the gnawing ache settled so deep in her belly, she’s not sure there’s space left for anything else.
She’s sick of hunting, but stopping would be admitting defeat. She ties back her hair, layers her clothes, accepts Lottie’s insane blood tea—which is really mostly blood water these days, melted snow tinged pink by the prick of Lottie’s fingertip. She sets off, knowing they’re all counting on her. Their queen.
She takes a step, anticipating the crunch of ice beneath her boot, her leg sailing straight through a sheet of ice—
The ground beneath her next step is soft. Grass, she realizes. Grass without a hint of snow.
“The fuck?”
She’s standing, not in a fresh fall of endless white, but beside a lake.

I’ve come back only to talk Abt Yellowjackets, Shauna and Jackie kissed at sleepovers in 7th grade, it was mostly just practice for when they got boyfriends but both of them secretly liked it. So they decided to keep doing it and calling it just practice. Neither of them knew the other liked it, but one day Jackie overheard her parents talking about how disgusting gay people are, and how its unnatural. So the next sleepover Jackie and Shauna had. They didn’t kiss. They stopped the whole thing, they never talked it out. It was forgotten, a buried memory. Shauna thinks of this after Jackie’s death, and regrets not telling her bestfriend how much she liked it. Regretted not talking it out.

love became the high that's the drug and not the pill
yellowjackets lottie & natalie creator chose not to use archive warnings
Clinging to what Lottie sent her, Natalie saved every single letter. Each envelope, each drawing, every word. She learned how long it took Lottie to write back, so she knew when to expect a letter. Things were okay. Until Lottie’s letter was late. First, by a day.
Doing her best not to worry, Nat did a few grounding techniques. And then she did weed. Then, she found alcohol. She got so intoxicated that she didn’t remember much the next day, and had a nasty headache. She drank more, to keep the hangover away. Still, no letter from Lottie. A week went by. A week full of drugs and alcohol. Going out to bars, drinking herself into a stupor. Getting so high she couldn’t stand up.
or
Lottie agrees to pen pal with Nat when they get rescued, but when she stops sending letters, Nat starts to rely on drugs to keep herself from committing.

// lottie matthew’s does not like you. you’re annoying, preppy, and way too nice. lottie doesn’t fail to show you time after time just how much she hates you. you finally get the message and steer clear of her, until senior year, when you both get paired up for a science project. //
warnings: asshole!lottie, sweet!reader, pining, mutual pining, oblivious!reader, hints of underage drinking, lowkey jealous lottie if you squint, lottie is an idiot
(this is part 3, you can read part 2 here, and part 1 here)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on this night and in this light (i think i’m falling)
“don’t you think we should be, i don’t know, actually working?” lottie questions sardonically, and you turn your head to scowl at her from where you’re laying on the rug in your room. a new episode of sabrina the teenage witch was playing and you were excitedly watching it. “shut up! sabrina is talking!” you hiss warningly, causing the yellowjackets sweeper to roll her eyes in annoyance, while you turn your gaze back to the tv. “why didn’t you tell me you were going to be doing this the whole time? i would’ve just gone home.” it’s a blatant lie, but you don’t know that, and lottie doesn’t want to tell you otherwise.
you scoff, “yeah, sure. after the way you acted when i cancelled yesterday? you’re stuck here now.” the comment is supposed to annoy lottie, but it doesn’t. it doesn’t annoy her at all, the thought of being stuck here with you. lottie blinks rapidly, trying to shove that thought so far away, she’ll never have to deal with it again. “you don’t like sabrina?” you ask, gesturing to the tv, and lottie shakes her head. “i don’t really watch tv.” she mutters her response, making you furrow your brows and laugh lightly. “seriously? aren’t your parents loaded? i thought you’d have a huge theater where you watch all your favorite shows and movies.” you tease her, causing her to glower in your direction.
“you thought wrong.” she retorts, but there’s something in her tone that you can’t quite place. you can sense the shift in demeanor, but you don’t press the subject. lottie is like an animal you’re trying to tame. she could snap at any moment for any reason. you know lottie is like this for a reason; you can’t help but wonder if maybe her mother is just as angry as her. or perhaps her father has a temper. “well, either way… it’s been kind of nice having you over.” you start cautiously, and lottie looks over at you; her tenebrous gaze meeting yours.
“i just mean, i get lonely sometimes even though i’m here with my siblings all the time. it’s nice to have someone to spend time with.” you ramble, and lottie’s eyes seem to soften in a way you’ve never seen before. “i like being here with you too.” lottie says before she can think twice, taking not only herself by surprise, but you as well. a faint blush creeps onto your face, and lottie takes in how pretty you are. before either of you can say anything else, your older sister barges through your bedroom door, causing you to jump.
lottie looks annoyed at the intrusion, and she sends a scowl the older girls way. elise stares at you for a moment, furrowing her brows as she notices how flushed your cheeks are. she can nearly feel the tension in the room. “mom said dinners ready. she served your friend a plate.” the eighteen year old comments, flashing you a knowing look. you nod, “okay! be there in a minute.” you aimlessly respond, trying to keep your eyes away from your sisters. you do everything to stop blushing but it doesn’t seem to work. elise reluctantly leaves without saying anything else, and lottie clears her throat.
“i feel bad your mom has been setting an extra plate for me. i didn’t even ask if it was okay…” lottie trails off, insecurity laced throughout her tone. you shake your head quickly in protest, “my mom likes you! she thinks your nice, and she doesn’t mind.” you assure her, “besides, my dad always works super late so he never eats with us. there’s always an extra seat.” you ramble a bit, and lottie feels a bunch of mini starbursts in her chest; going off rapidly one by one. she swallows thickly, “thanks.” she doesn’t know what else to say and internally cringes at her response. you get up, flashing her a little grin that causes her belly to flip in an uncomfortable way.
“come on, matthew’s, before my mom gets pissed.” you taunt, waiting for her to get up from her seat on your bed. she follows you out of your room, chuckling slightly, “i can’t imagine your mom angry. she’s so tiny.” lottie makes you giggle, “trust me, she can be terrifying. have you ever heard that shorter people are more likely be evil because they’re close to hell?” your retort sounds serious, which makes it even more hilarious, and lottie can’t help but burst out laughing. you giggle as well, and you don’t even realize elise and your mother are staring at you both with inscrutable looks.
you and lottie aimlessly take a seat beside each other, and lottie smiles at your mother. “thank you, mrs. l/n. this smells delicious.” she says politely, and your mom offers her a smile. “you’re welcome, sweetheart. it’s carne asada, beans, and rice, y/n’s favorite.” she admits, and elise snickers, “basics just like her.” the older girl chimes in, and sabrina giggles while you flush. lottie looks at you, and she can’t stop thinking about how pretty you look when you blush. surely she’s notice how pretty you were before, but she can’t remember ever thinking about it. elise is the only one who is aware of the way lottie is looking at you.
“so mom… maria invited me to a get together at her sorority house. can i go after dinner?” elise asks hopefully, and your mom gets this skeptical look on her face. “a get together? at a sorority house?” she questions uncertainly, obviously not buying it. “yeah! it’s just a few of the girls! please mom?” the oldest teen asks, putting on her best puppy eyes. lisa quirks a brow challengingly, “then you wouldn’t mind taking y/n with you?” she asks, smiling in a condescending way. she obviously seems to know elise will refuse to bring you along. your eyes widen at the same time elise’s do.
“me!?”
“her!?”
you both respond to your mother at the same time, and lisa nods simply. “if it’s a get together, then you should have no problem with taking your sister. besides, when was the last time you two did anything together?” the older woman asks, and a glower etches itself onto elise’s features. “why can’t i go too!?” sabrina asks, pouting and clearly upset. “because you’re failing english, and need to study.” lisa pointedly responds, and elise huffs. “fine. i’ll take her, but she’s gonna be complaining the whole time!”
your eyebrows nearly meet your hairline, and you protest quickly. “i don’t wanna go! it’s friday night, and the last thing i wanna do is spend it with elise and a bunch of her weird friends!” you flash your mom a pair of begging eyes, “please don’t make me go.” lottie commends your mother for having the willpower to go against those eyes because damn, she feels her resolve slipping and the peculiar need to step in and protect you kicks in. “i can go with you guys. just so you’re not stuck there alone.” lottie offers, and your head turns to gaze at her.
you blink a few times, clearly confused as to why lottie matthew’s would want to spend a friday night with you. “but didn’t you get invited to becky martin’s bonfire?” you inquire, and lottie shrugs, “i wasn’t gonna go to that anyways.” she lies, but you seem to believe her because you flash her a grateful expression, “i mean if you really wanna be stuck with elise’s friends all night, then sure.” you half joke, making your older sister scoff. “my friends aren’t that bad! i mean at least i have more than three, unlike you!” she hisses, and you roll your eyes.
“ever heard of quality over quantity?” you sardonically retort, making lottie chuckle. elise narrows her eyes at you, “you’re so lucky moms forcing me to bring you.” she mutters, as she continues eating.
after dinner you and lottie head back to your room, and you’re a bit quieter than usual. “you don’t have to go just for my expense, you know? i know you were planning on being at that bonfire tonight.” you say softly, and lottie tenses up as you call her out. there’s no malice or anger in your tone, but lottie frowns. “if i wanted to go to that bonfire i would. i’m hanging with you tonight.” she responds adamantly, and the way you smile washes all of her doubts away.
“okay then, i guess i’ll start getting ready. you already look pretty, but we can stop by your house if you want to change?” you suggest and lottie shrugs, trying to ignore the sensations inside of her that she gets when you call her pretty. “i’ll just go like this. i mean, it’s just a bunch of elise’s lame friends. they’re probably just gonna talk about books and stuff.” she jokes, and you giggle, making her stomach get all knotted up again. god, she really hates that feeling.
throughout the entire way to the sorority house, lottie can’t help but occasionally steal a few glances at you. you had decided to wear a pair of tight black flare jeans, and a cropped fur coat that apparently belongs to elise. lottie wasn’t used to seeing you outside of your usual school clothes. you’d mostly wear jeans and sweaters; hiding every part of yourself. though tonight lottie had a hard time keeping her eyes off you. as soon as elise pulls into the parking lot of the campus, you can hear loud music in the distance.
your confusion only seems to grow as the music gets louder, the closer to the sorority house you all get. finally, your steps begin to falter when you realize you’re approaching a house with a few drunk students outside. someone was laying on the grass, and another person was holding her friends hair while she threw up in a bush. “elise this is not a get together! this is a frat party!” you exclaim angrily, as a large guy drunkenly stumbles past you guys. elise actually looks guilty for a moment, but the expression is quickly replaced by an angry one. “that’s why i didn’t want you to come! god, mom treats me like i’m a fucking kid! i’m eighteen; i should be allowed to have some fun.” she snaps, and you sigh.
“you should’ve just been honest with me. or snuck out like a normal person your age! now i’m stuck here!” you begin to argue with the older girl, who huffs in response. “yeah, cause being at a college frat party is every seventeen year olds worst nightmare. seriously, y/n, when was the last time you were even invited to a party?” elise sardonically asks, and you frown. “i’ve been to parties!” you internally cringe at how stupid you sound, and even lottie knows you’re lying. she’s only ever seen you at one party before, and even then you had left early.
elise shakes her head in dismay, “i bet you wouldn’t even know what to do at a place like this.” she challenges, and lottie frowns when she sees the determination on your features. “well, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is?” you provoke her back, suddenly thinking about those new shoes you’ve been wanting for a month. elise lights up, and lottie thinks it’s the first time she’s ever seen her look so excited as she talks to you. “fine. if you can get a guy or two to dance with you, and actually let loose… i’ll buy you anything you want from the mall. under a hundred and twenty bucks.” she says and you nod in agreement. “deal.” you confirm, holding your hand out for your sister to shake.
lottie gets a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach as the three of you walk into the sorority house. immediately lottie is alert and aware of how many people there are in here; how crowded and dim-lit the house is. losing you here would be easy, and it’d take lottie forever to find you. elise ditches you as soon as she sees her friends, and lottie hates that she’s thinking about what it’d be like if she didn’t come. you’d be stuck here, alone.
“at least they’re playing good music.” you comment, noticing an upbeat spanish song was playing. lottie’s cheeks turn a shade of crimson red as she flushes timidly. “i failed spanish class last year… i think i’m doing really bad in french too this year.” she reveals and you let out this tinkling laugh that causes her to stare at you. she takes in how you look under this lighting; your hair was clipped back in a half updo, but it was still curled in this carefree way that made lottie think you looked absolutely beautiful. she glances away, trying to think of anything but that.
“it’s okay, i suck at french. i only passed spanish class because it was my first language.” you tell her, and she smiles at the admission, “i don’t think i’ll ever be able to learn another language, it’s like my head just can’t grasp anything other than english. spanish is sexy though.” lottie blurts out, and you raises your eyebrows in a bit of amusement as her cheeks burn in humiliation. she has no idea why she just said that.
“here you go pretty ladies. you two look like you needed a drink.” a deep voice intervenes, as you look to see a tall frat boy handing you both cups. lottie speaks before you can even think about it, grabbing your hand, and grasping it firmly. her grip sends a jolt of electricity down your body, and you lose all train of thought as soon as she touches you. “we’re good, thanks though.” she says in that usual not-so-kind voice before pulling you away. “hey! i’m supposed to be getting guys like that to dance with me if i want to win the bet!” you argue, pouting as lottie begins to look for the drink station. she rolls her eyes, making a face of clear disdain at the fact that you’re actually going through with elise’s stupid challenge.
“you’re not seriously going to try and win that stupid bet, are you?” lottie gives you the third degree as she questions you, and you frown at her tone. you aren’t really sure why she sounds so upset. “well, yeah, i mean i want some new shoes and it’s an easy win. how hard can it be to get a few college dudes to dance with me?” you ask uncertainly, and lottie only seems more and more annoyed as you explain yourself. “these guys don’t just wanna dance with you, y/n. they’re all here looking to get laid.” she states, the contemptuousness in her voice causes something inside of your abdomen to tingle.
“obviously i’m not going to let them do that, matthew’s.” you respond as you both come to a stop at the drink station. lottie scoffs as she begins to make your drinks, refusing to answer you anymore. you frown, “you’re such an ass.” you mutter, only adding to her annoyance. she shoots daggers at you with her eyes, “me?? because i don’t want some gross college guy trying anything with you?” she sounds serious, and you can’t help but let your frustration wash away as you realize she’s just worried about you.
“if i didn’t know any better i’d think you’re actually starting to care about me.” you say carefully, as lottie hands you a cup of cranberry vodka. “yeah well, good thing you know better.” she murmurs, and before you can get another word out, an older guy approaches you both. “hey, i’m chris.” he introduces himself, flashing you a shy smile. “y/n.” you respond back, and lottie tries to hide the obvious distaste towards him while he eats you up with his eyes. “do you maybe wanna dance, y/n?” he asks hopefully and you’re about to say yes, when you remember lottie’s obvious indifference towards the bet.
“no, i’m okay. i’m here with someone else.” you simply respond, and the look of disappointment and humiliation etches itself onto his face. “oh, yeah. cool. i’m sorry. i’ll see you around then.” he quickly apologizes before rushing away in the opposite direction. lottie looks at you, visibly befuddled as to why you would turn him down. you shrug at her reaction, taking a sip of your drink, “i can always just blackmail elise into getting me the shoes. she’s not even supposed to be here, let alone have me here. moms gonna flip.” you laugh lightly and suddenly a sense of relief courses throughout the raven haired girl.
she isn’t sure why she was upset at the thought of you dancing with some other guy. the mere thought of some seedy dudes hands on you made her blood boil for reasons she didn’t understand.
it isn’t until lottie is laying in bed later that night; the image of your pretty smile and eyes are the only thing that she can see when she closes her eyes, that she realizes what this is. lottie matthew’s isn’t stupid; she’s aware of what’s happening… she just doesn’t want to admit it. because just last month lottie hated you; now she couldn’t get you out of her head. she was falling fast and she wasn’t sure if she could stop.

lottie x reader
guys I'm sorry it's so short 😭, just clearing out my drafts and trying to motivate myself to write more.
you press a cold, wet towel against lottie's bloodied forehead. "why did you let her do that?" you whisper, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. she groans, trying to lift her hand and wipe away a stray tear.
"don't cry," she mumbles, "I'm okay," her fingers get stuck in your matted hair. you shake your head, as you carefully remove her sore digits from your locks.
you dab her forehead, removing dry blood before sighing. "no, you're not. she beat the shit out of you, lottie! you can't move," you sob, removing the towel. you stand up, but she calls out to you, begging for you to stay.
you sigh, sitting down next to her and moving her head onto your lap. lottie curled her body in the fetal position, as the putrid smell of her blood and her piss and shit infiltrated your nose. you wiped her hair behind her ear, as it stuck to her forehead. she was sweaty and the blood had dried and crusted on her face. all you could do was try and nurse it back to health and hope she'd get better soon.
"I love you," she mumbles, looking up at you with blurry eyes. you press a kiss to her forehead in response, applying the wet cloth back on it. she smiles weakly, before her eyes close. you sigh, running your fingers up her arms as she slowly fell asleep.

It all happened so fast. Shauna running, the rest running after her. Callie coming out of the forest with that gun, the girl Nat had grown so attached to threatening to kill Callie on Lottie's behalf, and Misty. Misty with that fucking injection.
Natalie tried to throw herself in front of Misty, but there was no way. Her life had just begun to go up-hill for the first time. You took Natalie's place. The needle dug deep into your neck, the fluid stinging the muscle it had penetrated. Everyone was screaming. Not you. It couldn't be you. Natalie and Lottie surrounded you, you couldn't hear them, but they were screaming, shaking you, trying to keep you earthbound as long as possible.
This was okay, you had decided. Nat and Lottie would have each other, and maybe, just maybe, if the wilderness truly did want someone...it would have taken you.
***
You hadn't expected to wind up in this position with Nat and Lottie. It sort of just happened to you, the way so many things seemed to just happen to you. The three of you reunited once again, far away from everything that was supposed to be real, but this was the most real you had felt in twenty five years.
In bed with them, naked and tangled in bodies, skin on skin, sweaty sheets and the room smelling of sex. For the first time, you weren't analyzing this. Did it make sense? Probably, yes. Being in an almost all female cult as teens was incredibly homoerotic, and you weren't fooling anyone by pretending it didn't almost happen several times back then.
You brushed hair out of your face, stretching your back, letting out a little sigh. "It's sunrise."
"How long did that go on for?" Natalie muttered, seemingly out of it, like she had been in a daze for several hours.
Lottie giggled. "Hours, Nat. Hours, and hours."
"Jesus." She groaned, rolling over onto her side, facing you and Lottie. "I'm not even tired." She trailed her fingers over your stomach.
You smiled at the sensation. Lottie sat up, running a hand through your hair.
You were the youngest of the group, a year younger than the rest of them, and you were always considered 'the baby.' They took care of you, and put you first no matter what. That translated over into whatever this budding relationship was.
"Are you okay, Y/N?" Lottie asked sweetly.
"Honestly? I'm great. Just really hungry." You grinned up at her.
"I'll go get you something." Natalie offered.
***
Natalie cradled you in her arms, screaming your name. You'd already passed. EMS was trying to take you away, but she wouldn't let them near you.
"How could we let this happen?" She sobbed. "We were supposed to protect her."
Everyone was heartbroken. Pacing, rocking back and forth on the ground, crying. You meant so much to this group of women, and now you were gone.
Lottie kissed your forehead, weeping. "Nat, we have to let her go."
"No." She yelled.
"Nat. She's dead." Van whispered. "You have to let her go."
Lottie grabbed Natalie so that the EMS workers could take your body away. She screamed, punched, fought, but eventually relaxed into Lottie's embrace.

A Little Bird Told Me - Tara Carpenter
Summary: a badly interpreted tweet makes Tara get jealous
Warnings: Fem! Reader, a bit of angst, mentions of yellowjackets characters (Lottie Matthews and Lottienat), curse words
Word Count: 5.3k
Tumblr media
"I propose a movie night at Tara's house!"
That catches the attention of the younger Carpenter, making her turn away from the direction of the Blackmore University library to answer Mindy with a teasing smile. "And who said I want you all at my house tonight?"
"You don't have a choice!" Mindy retorts, tossing a fallen leaf from the table they were sitting on towards Tara. "And you definitely want a certain someone to come to your house tonight."
"Yeah, you've been staring at the library door since she went in there." Anika joins her girlfriend in the argument, causing Tara's face to turn even redder.
You had been at the table earlier with Tara, Mindy, Anika, Chad, and Ethan, but a message had arrived on your phone and you hastily headed towards the library, letting your friends know you wouldn't take long. Since you left, the freckled girl couldn't help but look expectantly in that direction, missing your funny comments and calming presence.
It's true that Tara might have had a little crush on you since the beginning of this year, when you patiently and non-judgmentally listened to a long rant that Carpenter had been holding back about everything that had happened in Woodsboro. You had been there too, but you let her say everything she wanted and didn't even mention your own traumas, being more concerned with holding Tara in your arms as she shed the necessary tears. Since that night, she couldn't help but see you in a different light.
"Well, if everyone's up for it, I don't think Sam will mind having you all over." She tried to smoothly change the subject.
"I'm in!" Ethan was the first to confirm, followed by the other three instantly. Tara took the opportunity to take her phone out of her pocket and message Sam, informing her about the plans for later.
"Wow, who's that?" She heard Chad say, but didn't lift her head from her phone, thinking he was talking about some random girl he found attractive. However, Mindy's next sentence made Tara snap her head up so fast she almost got whiplash.
"Ooh, Y/n is in good company!" Mindy teased, and Tara followed her gaze until she spotted you, coming out of the library laughing alongside a girl who was clearly beautiful even from a distance. The dark wavy hair framed her face perfectly, and she was tall like a model. There was no reason for it, but the Carpenter girl suddenly felt intimidated by this new mystery girl.
You continued walking with her towards your friends, and as you got close enough to be seen clearly but not close enough to overhear the conversation, Chad blurted out a comment. "Damn, is that Charlotte Matthews?"
"Fuck! I think it is!" Anika added with excitement. Seeing the huge question mark on Tara's face, she hurriedly explained. "Lottie is on the college women's soccer team, and they're basically unbeatable. She's, like, super popular."
Tara crossed her arms and looked in your direction again, a bitter taste forming in her mouth as she noticed you were still laughing at something the girl had told you. What could possibly be so amusing?
"I didn't know Y/n had rizz like that." Mindy added with a thoughtful expression. "Good for her."
Before Tara could say that there was nothing to indicate you had any interest in Lottie (something she was also trying to convince herself of), you finally reached the table, greeting your friends with a smile. "Hey, guys."
"Hey." Lottie spoke after you, a bit shyly. How dare she be beautiful, tall as a goddess, and yet still have an adorable charm?
Everyone responded, and Tara found herself forcing a smile to hide her conflicting feelings. She sought your gaze, and some of the knot in her stomach unraveled as you locked eyes. "We're having a movie night at my place tonight, do you want to come?"
Your expression twisted into one of sorrowful regret. "Can't, sorry. I'll be tutoring Lottie in organic chemistry, it'll probably take the whole day." Tara realized you were still looking at her, trying to decipher if she was upset about your absence. Ever since movie nights had become a kind of tradition within the group, you had never missed one. This would be the first time you wouldn't be there, and Tara could tell you felt bad about it.
"Don't worry about it!" Mindy waved her hands nonchalantly, then turned to Tara with a teasing smile. "We get that you have bigger priorities, right, Tara?"
You still looked at the girl like a lost puppy, eagerly awaiting her reaction. Tara swallowed a sigh and forced herself to maintain a fake smile to calm her nerves. "Right. It was about time you put that brain of yours to some use."
With the girl's joke, you laughed, visibly becoming less tense as if a weight had been lifted off your shoulders. "Well, I'll see you guys tomorrow. Bye, everyone!" You waved goodbye to everyone at the table, Lottie doing the same out of politeness, and Tara watched bitterly as the two of you walked away side by side, probably heading towards the player's dorm.
"I bet 5 bucks Y/n will show up tomorrow with a massive hickey on her neck." Chad jokes, and the group laughs in response. Tara, being the only one not finding the joke funny, lets out an irritated huff and stands up, slinging her own bag over her shoulder. "Let's get going already, I want to pick the movie."
She starts walking slowly, ignoring Ethan's protests that it's his turn to choose.
The truth was: Tara just didn't want them to see how upset she was about your absence.
_
I want to stab you to death and play around with your blood.
Tara grimaced as she heard the line spoken by Christian Bale through the television, and she could see from the corner of her eye that everyone had shifted uncomfortably, relating the line to the events of the previous year.
Ethan had chosen American Psycho as the movie for the night, and Tara didn't want to protest since you weren't there for her to gauge your reactions to the film she chose. She sighed and glanced at her phone's lock screen again, hoping for a message from you saying that the tutoring had ended early and you were on your way. It never came.
She ran her hands over her face in frustration. The thought of you alone with an annoyingly beautiful girl in her room was enough to make a vein in her temple throb. What if Chad was right? What if tomorrow you showed up with a hickey on your neck, holding hands with Lottie Matthews, strolling across campus like the most beloved couple in America?
Ugh. She pressed her eyes shut to try to banish the image from her mind. When did she let her feelings for you become so... intense? It was almost humiliating to think that Tara Carpenter had gone from the girl who spent most of her time alone to the girl who couldn't stand a few hours without you.
Feeling a strange surge of pride, Tara shook her head and grabbed her phone, opening the front camera. She was having fun and definitely not sinking into miserable thoughts, right? So she had to post a picture to prove that she was perfectly happy! Of course, that had nothing to do with you, and she certainly didn't care if you saw the photo while you were busy doing who knows what with one of the most desired girls at Blackmore.
"Hey, guys! Look here real quick!" Tara alerted, and everyone shuffled to get into the selfie. Sam sat beside her with a restrained smile, Anika and Mindy were wrapped in each other's arms a bit behind the Carpenters, and Chad had an arm around Ethan's shoulders, who responded by making a peace sign with his fingers behind his roommate's head.
Tara snapped the picture and examined the result, mindlessly promising to send it to Anika when the girl asked. The younger Carpenter discreetly zoomed in on her own face, deciding if she looked pretty enough to post it or not. Satisfied, she opened Instagram and uploaded the photo as a story, adding a caption underneath. Great night with these weirdos.
After that, Tara locked her phone, trying to hypnotize herself into believing she wasn't eagerly waiting for your comment. She stared fixedly at the TV, feigning deep interest in Patrick Bateman's actions, as if she hadn't lost focus on the movie within the first twenty minutes.
5 minutes later, her phone buzzed with a notification. You had replied to her story.
Tara almost giggled and kicked her feet because of how quickly you messaged. That had to be a good sign. You wouldn't have replied so fast if you were busy doing something... or someone else. Right?
"Don't have too much fun without me." Your message read. The younger Carpenter bit her lower lip to contain a wider smile on her face.
"Never." She typed, but thought better of it and deleted it, typing out a different response. "I can't promise anything."
You read the message but didn't reply any further, probably returning to your duties as a tutor. Tara didn't complain, as she was already more than satisfied with the quick attention you gave her.
She comfortably leaned back on the couch, where she was seated between Sam and Mindy, the latter gently stroking Anika's hair, who was sitting beside her. The two boys were on the floor engaged in a heated discussion about whether Ethan was an incel or not based on his choice of movie.
Feeling more relaxed, Tara reached over to snatch some popcorn from Sam, earning a light smack and narrowed eyes in retaliation. She offered an innocent smile to her older sister, who simply rolled her eyes and placed the popcorn bucket between them, succumbing to the silent plea.
Tara could almost have forgotten she had been upset. Almost. But then her phone vibrated with another notification.
It was from your Twitter, and from the notification bar, apparently, you had tweeted "hjsuzgabasi."
She frowned, trying to figure out what the hell you were trying to say. Unlocking her phone, Tara quickly opened the Twitter app, searching for your profile so she could reply with something like "???" on your latest post.
But as she was about to comment on your tweet, she noticed the other two you had just posted.
She's soooooo prettyyy😭😭 just one chance please
Her brown eyes omg im so gay
Tara's mood instantly turned sour. Had you just tweeted about Lottie Matthews? I mean, you were with her now, and Tara vividly remembered the girl's big, enchanting brown eyes. Of course, you were tweeting about the gay panic you were probably experiencing in real life.
She sighed and stood up from the couch. "I'm gonna grab some water." Tara mumbled to justify her departure and headed to the kitchen, still holding her phone. Suddenly, the fun atmosphere she had felt for a few minutes had given way to a nauseating feeling churning in her stomach.
She turned the phone over before grabbing a glass, but her eyebrows furrowed when she realized your tweets were no longer there. Holding the device with both hands now, she refreshed your profile again, but the posts had vanished as if they were a mirage. You had probably deleted them to prevent Lottie from seeing, or something like that.
Either way, the tweets had been there, and Tara had firsthand seen your super gay panic as you probably looked at the soccer player. She hated the thought that you might be blushing right now over something Lottie said, giving one of your cute shy smiles as she ran her hand through your hair, eventually trailing down to your neck and pulling you in for...
No! Tara was already torturing herself enough without imagining what you two might be doing. She didn't need another reason to ruin her own night.
So, after downing a glass of water and trying to contain the terrible feeling spreading through her system, Tara returned to the living room dragging her feet, doing her best to force herself to enjoy the rest of the night with her friends.
She definitely wasn't caring about your stupid new crush.
_
"Ugh! If you point out one more mistake of mine, I'm going to bite your arm!" Lottie complained dramatically, leaning back in her swivel chair and turning towards you, avoiding looking at the open notebook with unsolved questions.
You chuckled at her antics. "Let's not resort to cannibalism, okay? I'd rather stay whole if I still have to finish teaching you things."
"Can we at least take a break? My brain is killing me." She didn't even wait for your response and immediately got up, heading towards her own bed and lying down without ceremony. You just shook your head with a smile and stretched your arms, still sitting in the chair. Lottie was right, after all. You both deserved a bit of rest.
Taking advantage of the break, you took your phone out of your bag pocket and quickly checked your notifications, stopping at one that made your heart race and a small smile start to form on your face.
Opening the app, you viewed Tara's story. A photo of everyone in the group (minus Quinn, who was probably at one of her flings' places) gathered in the Carpenter's living room, with happy expressions that must have come from the fun of the movie nights.
You thought for a few seconds before sending a playful response. "Don't have too much fun without me." There was a bit of truth hidden behind those words, considering you felt bad for missing out on this time with your friends, but mostly for not being there with Tara.
It had been a few years since you started developing feelings for the younger Carpenter. You had met in school in Woodsboro and grew closer when you were assigned a literature project together. Since then, Tara introduced you to her other friends and you became a significant part of her life.
She made you feel heard and appreciated, so it didn't take long for you to fall in love and get lost in the sparkle of those brown eyes. But you weren't stupid. Everyone could see that Tara Carpenter only had eyes for Amber Freeman. So you decided to take a step back and act as a good friend to Tara, painfully listening when she talked about her immense love for her girlfriend.
You even thought about moving on from her, but then the "Woodsboro Massacre" happened, you knew you couldn't leave the girl alone during such a vulnerable time. So, despite your head warning you that you would get hurt, you followed your heart and never left Tara's side for a second.
"I can't promise anything." She replied after a while, and you smiled at the familiarity of her classic sense of humor in the message. You exited the chat shortly after, returning to Tara's stories to look at the posted photo once again.
You zoomed in on the familiar face, much like a high school girl stalking her crush, and involuntarily broke into a silly smile. Tara's dark hair was loose, waves cascading over her shoulder. She had a slight smile on her face that allowed you to catch a glimpse of her adorable dimple. The photo quality was good but not enough for you to see the freckles you knew were there, on her cheeks and nose, that you wished you could someday get close enough to count with the tips of your fingers.
With your heart pounding in your chest, you decided you were feeling too many emotions to keep them to yourself. So, like a good contemporary girl, you searched for the Twitter app on your phone and prepared for a gay vent of at least 100 characters.
"Why are you so red?" Lottie asks from her spot on the bed, startling you as you had completely forgotten about her presence.
Wide-eyed, you look at her and try to come up with something. "N-nothing. Must be your imagination."
Clearly, the excuse doesn't work with Lottie, because she breaks into a teasing smile and raises her eyebrows as if she knows all your secrets. "What was it? Did Tara send you a message?"
"Shut up." You release a weak grumble and quickly turn back to your phone, tweeting the first thing that came to your mind upon seeing your best friend's earlier photo. hjsuzgabasi. Poetic.
"Come on! Don't you think it's about time you confess your feelings?" Lottie sits up straight on the bed to better analyze you. "I mean, you talk about her all the time in class. Tara this, Tara that, Tara, Tara, Tara."
"I don't want to ruin our friendship, okay?" You turn to the soccer player before sending out more tweets containing your embarrassing thoughts about the younger Carpenter. She's soooooo prettyyy😭😭 just one chance please. Her brown eyes omg im so gay
Lottie sighs and gets up, walking over to you and placing her hands affectionately on your shoulders. "Look, I might not know her as well, but if she's as good a friend as you describe, she wouldn't stop talking to you over something you can't even control."
"I know. Maybe I'll tell her someday." You speak in a hushed voice but quickly lift your head to look up at the tall girl with a playful expression. "You know, you should take your own advice and just admit you have a crush on a certain Natalie Scatorccio from your soccer team."
Her eyes widen, and she blushes deeply, pushing your swivel chair back slightly as she returns to the bed, not before flipping you off. "Shut up, you fucking loser."
You laugh at that, and Lottie joins in right after. Maybe you two weren't as close as you were with the others in your group (especially Tara), but the time you spent sitting next to each other during those tedious organic chemistry classes was enough to cultivate a great friendship.
Still chuckling a bit, you returned your gaze to your phone, and... your heart dropped into your stomach. Oh no.
"Shit, shit, shit!" You exclaim, rushing to delete the posts as quickly as possible. How could you have gotten so distracted?!
"What's wrong?" Lottie asks, alarmed, watching with a concerned expression as you hurriedly tap on your phone, looking on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
"I tweeted from my main account!" You reply with a mix of embarrassment and nervousness. "I didn't realize I wasn't on my private one, and I tweeted my gay panic about Tara's photo in a place where she can see! What do I do?!"
The taller girl walks over to you again, placing a hand in the space between your shoulders and encouraging you to take a deep breath along with her. "Calm down. Is there anything in the tweet that makes it clear it was about her?"
"Nothing specific... Damn it." You close your eyes and rest your head on the desk for a few seconds. What if Tara had seen the post, and now she's telling Sam how pathetic she thinks you are? Even worse, tonight was movie night! What if Tara had shown the tweets to everyone, and now they were all collectively laughing at you?
You pick up your phone again and open your messages, searching for Anika's contact. She and Mindy (who never let anything slide) were the only ones who had caught on to your crush on Tara and had already tried to advise you to confess your feelings, though they were still keeping the information a secret at your request. Between the two, the least likely to laugh at your current situation was the Kayoko, so you decided to beg her for help.
You

Lottie still gives you some awkward pats on your back as you turn to her fully, and you know she read everything over your shoulder when she offers a small supportive smile to try and make you feel better. You let Lottie embrace you as you close your eyes, feeling desperate tears threatening to fall.
"She doesn't like me back, does she?" You whisper into the girl's shoulder, and she squeezes you a little tighter in her hold.
"You don't know that. Try talking to her tomorrow, okay?"
Unwilling to utter any sound, you simply nod in agreement, knowing that even though the problem is only for tomorrow, you'll already feel the effects of it today.
It wasn't a good day for Tara.
The petite girl had tossed and turned in bed all night, unable to close her eyes with some inexplicable anger flooding her body. Every time she allowed herself to relax for a few seconds, the image of you being much closer to Charlotte Matthews than you should have been appeared in her mind like a bitter reminder.
And Tara could be very proud and stubborn, but she wasn't stupid. She knew perfectly well that her sour mood was out of pure jealousy and anger at herself for letting you slip through her fingers. But even though the negative feelings had their origin within herself, Tara still wasn't the best at dealing with her emotions and she knew she was making her bad mood everyone else's problem.
Unfortunately, you didn't know this when you approached her in the hallways of Blackmore University, with an apprehensive expression on your face and your heart in your hand. If Tara noticed your increasingly close presence, she didn't move a muscle to show it, but she moved plenty to walk faster, trying to cross your path without making contact.
"Hey, Tara." You stop her with a hand on her shoulder. This wasn't the best place to talk, considering you had just left a class and your classmates were spilling out into the hallway, chatting and filling the space. "Can we talk about what happened yesterday?"
"You mean the tweets?" She asks with an indifferent tone, but you knew the girl well enough to recognize the clenched jaw that hinted at a touch of irritation. "You don't need to say anything. Seriously."
"But..."
"Look, really." Tara cuts you off, crossing her arms and avoiding your gaze. You could feel the growing aggression in her voice. "I'm not in the mood to hear about it right now."
You feel your heart crack a little. It seemed like Tara didn't even want to hear you say that you liked her. Was it some sort of denial? Like if she doesn't hear the words coming out of your mouth, can she pretend your feelings don't exist?
Either way, before you could retort, a familiar voice calls your name in the hallway, and you turn to see Lottie Matthews waving in your direction. But she stops and takes on a surprised expression upon noticing Tara with you. You hear a scoff, and when you turn back, Tara is already walking away, ending the conversation without waiting for your input.
A few seconds later, Lottie arrives by your side in the hallway, looking at you cautiously. "So..."
Feeling hurt not only by Tara's apparent rejection but also by how she seemed so disturbed by the idea of your feelings for her, you simply shake your head in denial, letting tears run down your face to ease the pain you felt on the inside.
You felt Lottie pull you by the wrist towards the bathroom, probably to give you more privacy in that emotional moment, and you were thankful, but you couldn't express anything other than anguish. It felt like your whole world was spinning and falling apart in pieces.
Fuck that shitty bird social media.
_
"What's wrong with you?!"
Tara and everyone else at the table (Chad, Mindy, and Ethan) looked up in alarm as Anika's impactful entrance echoed in. She dropped her bag onto the wooden surface with a thud and was glaring specifically at Tara with frustration.
"Baby, what-" Mindy tried to speak up, but Anika raised her index finger, and her girlfriend quickly fell silent with a final okay, adhering to the "happy wife, happy life" motto.
Everyone stared at the scene apprehensively, as it was the first time they had seen Anika so upset about something. Even Tara, who had an idea of the reason for her behavior, was just staring in a state of shock and fear.
"Listen, whatever you've done to Y/n, you need to fix it now." Anika emphasized, tapping the tip of her index finger on the table for added effect. "She's been crying her eyes out in the H building's bathroom for the past 40 minutes because of some shit you pulled."
"I… I didn't mean to…" Tara stammered and closed her eyes tightly, feeling a lump in her throat forming from guilt. Once again, Tara remembered one of Sam's warnings about seeking help to better manage her emotions and quietly cursed herself. The last thing she wanted was to hurt you, but she was like a ticking time bomb of negative feelings that unfortunately exploded onto you, who didn't deserve to suffer because of Tara's actions.
"I don't care about what you wanted or didn't want." Anika speaks sternly, not breaking eye contact with Tara. "All I know is that there's a girl who would give the world to you, crying because of your unnecessary rudeness, and you need to fix that."
Tara jumps up and gathers her things quickly, nodding in affirmation and avoiding the inquisitive gazes of their friends. "Yeah… I will. I'll apologize." The others watch her hurry off towards building H, and Anika slumps with exhaustion into the seat next to Mindy, which Tara had previously occupied.
"Do you think they'll finally confess to each other?" Mindy asks, gently petting her girlfriend's head, which now rests on her shoulder.
"They better. I can't go through this again." Anika replies, closing her eyes to enjoy  the touch of her girlfriend's fingers through her hair. On the other side of the table, the guys still have wide eyes, processing what they witnessed.
"Uh… You're not gonna explain anything to us, are you?" Ethan questions, gesturing to himself and Chad with quick motions.
The two girls exchange a quick look and respond in unison. "No."
_
Tara's hands are trembling as she reaches the bathroom door.
Nausea churns within her due to the nervousness of the conversation she's about to have. She knows she'll need to explain the reason for being so rude, which means she'll have to tell you about her feelings, even though she anticipates you'll reject her since you already have someone else in your heart.
Would you at least accept remaining friends? Or had she ruined that option by preventing you from discussing your compromising tweets about Lottie earlier?
With one final sigh and a shake of her head, Tara decides to stop stalling and takes the first step to enter the restroom and get it over with.
The first thing she notices is your back turned towards her. Your silhouette makes it clear you have your arms crossed, leaning your hips against the sink so your weight rests on your left side. The second thing she sees is Charlotte Matthews standing in front of you, using a tissue to wipe your face, which Tara imagines is damp from tears.
Before she could do anything, the soccer player noticed her presence and her mouth formed an "O" shape. Looking between you and Tara, she quickly mumbles, "I'll leave you alone," and exits the restroom, causing you to glance back in questioning.
Tara feels the air being sucked out of her lungs as your eyes meet. Your eyes and nose are red, and she can still see traces of the glistening trail down your cheeks. She takes a step forward and places her hand on the sink, noticing that you're still keeping your arms crossed and prefer looking at your own sneakers rather than at her.
With a sigh, she's the first to break the silence. "I'm sorry about earlier today. I didn't want to hurt you."
"It's okay," you reply, shifting your right foot back and forth. Tara knows that's one of your signs of nervousness. "You can't control how you feel, right?"
The petite girl looks at you in shock, but you don't seem to notice, still looking down. Had she got it right? Did you know about her feelings? "That's true. Maybe I'm being selfish, but... I didn't want to ruin our friendship over this. Is that okay with you?"
You finally look at Tara. Your eyes widen, and you quickly nod. "Of course! I didn't want to lose you just because we're not on the same page. These things happen, right?"
Tara feels her heart ache at the sentence. Was that your way of gently rejecting her? "Yeah. These things happen."
A few seconds of uncomfortable silence pass, but neither of you move, fearing that any wrong move would spoil the small progress you've just made. Again, Tara, with her impatience, initiates the conversation, hating the absence of any sound. "I hope she makes you happy."
She watches as your expression changes to one of confusion, eyebrows furrowed and head tilted to the side. "What?"
"Lottie." Tara points back to where the girl had left a few minutes ago. "She seems... nice. You have good taste."
"You think I like Lottie?!" She's startled by the outraged tone of your question. You take a step closer, as if wanting to hear more clearly what she was saying.
"Wasn't it about her? The tweet you made?" Tara asks, more bewildered than you. "Pretty girl, brown eyes..."
"It was about you!" You burst out, unable to contain the information any longer. "I'm in love with you! The whole time, I was talking about you, Tara! I saw you in yesterday's photo, and you looked so beautiful that... hmph!"
You are silenced by Tara's soft lips meeting yours, initiating a passionate and much-needed kiss from both sides. Your hands descend to her waist as her hands pull you by the nape of your neck, trying to bring you impossibly closer.
Without breaking the kiss, you move clumsily until Tara's back is fully supported against the sink, your arms holding her in place by the hips. She sighs as you part for a breath, and a genuine smile forms on your face.
"Wow." You laugh and pull back slightly, just enough so that your noses are no longer touching. "I wasn't expecting that."
"I thought you knew I liked you." Tara laughs along, playing with the hair at the nape of your neck to try to ease the redness in her own face.
You gently stroke her hip with your thumb. "Is that what you were talking about earlier? I thought you were rejecting me."
"I thought you were rejecting me." She playfully nudges your chest with medium force. Tara's smile becomes a bit more subdued as she moves her hands from your nape to hold your face. "I'm sorry for being rude earlier and hurting you."
You shake your head. "It's okay. Now I know you were just jealous." Your tone is teasing, and you raise your eyebrows twice just to mess with Tara a little more.
"Shut up." She rolls her eyes, smiles, and pulls you by the wrist until you're out of the bathroom. "I'll make it up to you with some ice cream, what do you think?"
"If you throw in a few kisses in the middle of that offer, I might consider."
