So, what was it that drew you to KeinatsuBJ? 👀
omg not me trying to be Completely Normal while rambling about Them. Putting this under a cut, because MASSIVE SPOILERS for the game, but also AAAAAAA THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!!!!
I have always headcanon'd that BJ is Natsuno's first love. She's immediately attached to him and while it starts off as a "hey we're friends!" bit, it's VERY evident (to me, at least lol) that this lil guy means so so SO much more to Natsuno. And there is so much in the game that just leans into how much Natsuno cares about him. One of her MVP lines post-battle is something to the effect of "BJ! I did it!". Her last pilot skill is about BJ. Her route wraps up with BJ's death after he gives her his Sentinel. Even when she reunites with him in the simulation during the epilogue, she cried upon realizing he was back in her life.
And when you as the player realize who BJ actually is? And the backstory with 2188!keinatsu??? AND SHE ALSO STARTS HAVING FEELINGS FOR KEITARO??????? Ho boy, I'm always a sucker for lovers reincarnating and falling in love again and this ship just takes that idea and runs with it.
So while Natsuno doesn't have as many moments as Keitaro does with pining for her, she absolutely adores BJ, which… even SHE kind of notices during the final battle when she remarks to Keitaro that HE reminds HER of BJ. So in a sense, she's already falling for Keitaro. Just… you know, the previous version of him.
And I totally get this being squicky for some folks (it doesn't really faze me - it's fiction and clones like this aren't real), but I find the idea of Keitaro, the guy who is so ready to ignore his needs and sacrifice himself for the sake of everyone else, learning to love himself by… Literally Loving Himself… to be really sweet. But even if you take that out of the equation and approach it as a more V-shaped poly ship, Keitaro KNOWS BJ likes Natsuno. He GETS it, because it's HIMSELF. BJ confesses to him that he's fond of Natsuno and Keitaro just does not blink at that ever. And it's really sweet, as well, knowing that every version of Keitaro is drawn to Natsuno in some way. And vice versa too!
And then you look at the epilogue and they restored BJ in the simulation. One of the first things Keitaro mentions to him is if he'd like to ride in his nanomachines to see the outside world. And Natsuno immediately offers the same thing, as well. It's so sweet omg!!! They still remembered him!! And it's almost as if they had discussed this before diving back in???? 😭😭😭 and poor BJ is overwhelmed and just says "let me think about it" BUT ALSO NATSUNO AND KEITARO ARE OFF TO SEE HER PARENTS BUT ALSO BRING BJ ALONG TOO AND WHAT IF BJ GOT TO BE PRESENT VIA NANOMACHINES FOR THEIR WEDDING WHAT IF ALL THREE OF THEM GOT MARRIED AND WERE HAPPY TOGETHER I JUST JSDAKFJSDKFJKDSJFKDSJFKDSAJ
~cough~
With what Gouto and Ryoko mention with possibly bringing AIs into the real world via cloning tech, I imagine their initial test runs using the 1 loop ago gang would be ideal, seeing it would use existing DNA from the compatibles. And the thought of Natsuno and Keitaro bringing BJ back and he can have a body again and actually live after being so resigned to dying??? Oh my god I'm so soft for this.
But yeah. Lots of feels and thoughts for these three. Natsuno clearly loves both boys and I think she deserves both post-canon. And BJ and Keitaro would get along really well and spoil their wife. I just love Them and want them safe and happy together forever 🥺🥺 HOKAY THANKS FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK 💖

for the ask meme: zexal for 001, yusaku/ai and lightning/windy for 002 pls? also ur so right that windy has always been a lil gremlin lol
eyyyooo glad we agree! putting it under a read more again
Zexal
Favorite character: Shark
Least Favorite character: I wasn't a fan of those one-off lower-level Barians who followed Heartland? They did give us the cool duels where Yuma, Shark and Kaito teamed up with their respective Arclights, but other than that, they were meh to me. Also, Eliphas.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Shark/Yuma/Vector, Kaito/Mizael, Yuma/Astral, Yuma/Alit/Gilag, Yuma/Durbe/Shark
Character I find most attractive: IV
Character I would marry: .....it would be a disaster, but IV, tbh.
Character I would be best friends with: III
a random thought: the Numbers Club is neat, actually, and Tokunosuke made me cry during the final arc
An unpopular opinion: i am ignoring the Barians becoming human in the end. is that unpopular? if it's popular, then put my opinion about the Numbers Club here. a lot of people hate the Numbers Club but I love them. My Children.
My Canon OTP: uhhhh... Yuma/Astral is more explicitly canon in the manga, so I'm going with that
My Non-canon OTP: Shark/Yuma(/Vector)
Most Badass Character: Yuma. I'm SORRY he is so GOOD it's just so. Badass. Love to see it.
Most Epic Villain: .......Vector
Pairing I am not a fan of: not a big fan of IV/Rio or IV/Shark personally. Dunno why! I definitely see the appeal of both, but it just didn't make my brain go brrrrrr as much as other ships did.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): RIO, RIO, RIO, RIO, RIO, RIO. Also, Durbe being the only Barian who never duelled Yuma is a travesty. But Rio. Definitely Rio.
Favourite Friendship: honestly Yuma-Rio is so fucking underrated
Character I most identify with: Hmmmmm, I don't know. In some sense, III.
Character I wish I could be: Gosh, I wish I could have Yuma's kattobing
Yusaku/Ai
When I started shipping them: I lowkey started to ship them from the beginning but it turned into full-blown shipping during the second Revolver duel (their first Master Duel), when Revolver locked Cyberse away, but Yusaku could still sense Ai, and could talk with him, even if Ai was very, VERY out of it at that point. I fucking love that scene.
My thoughts: I AM ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED ABOUT THEM. I AM FERAL, OKAY? They love each other so much. That scene when Ai is like "lol you actually could have done this any time I just kept it a secret" and Yusaku smiles like "that's more like you"? I CRY. IM BITING MY KNUCKLES. Yusaku saying he'd rather if Ai would hide, and they'd never meet again, as long as Ai is safe? And Yusaku being Ai's anchor to keep him from going off the rails, and Ai knowing it? Ai only becoming humanity's enemy if Yusaku dies? LET ME DIE INSTEAD.
What makes me happy about them: they love each other so, so much. Also that tiny thing that Ai does sometimes when he copies Yusaku's gestures? IT'S THE CUTEST FUCKING THING AND I NEVER GET ENOUGH OF IT (sidenote: Flame also does it with Takeru, and if I recall correctly, so does Aqua with Aoi. Both times I adore it and can never get enough of it)
What makes me sad about them: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. THAT FUCKING ENDING. YUSAKU ACCEPTING AI KILLING HIM, AND REALIZING AI OPENS THE DOOR FOR HIM TO WIN, AND THEN HIM HOLDING AI IN HIS ARMS. THAT I LOVED YOU. YUSAKU'S SCREAM. I HATE IT HERE.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Yusaku fell in love with Ai way before Ai got the android body. This is a hill I am willing to die on. Oh and also - if it's a fix-it fic, but only Ai comes back, I am not interested. S3 is very explicit that Ai alone is not a good option - the rest of the Ignis also need to be back.
Things I look for in fanfic: Typically I don't look for android!Ai fics, for the above reason, I prefer if Ai is still a gremlin, with a monster form.
My wishlist: I WANT THEM TO BE FFFFUCKING HAPPY
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: no one. Absolutely no one. These two have to be together. I'm more than happy with slapping more characters on to be poly, but these two I always want to be together.
My happily ever after for them: ALIVE AND WELL WITH ALL THE OTHER IGNIS ALSO BEING BACK
Lightning/Windy
When I started shipping them: Evil power couple sexy
My thoughts: Yeah, not much else. Evil power couple sexy. Post-canon trying to sort it all out, either canon-compliantly dealing with what Lightning had done to Windy, or an AU where Windy joined from his own free will... either is fine by me
What makes me happy about them: I think they are just. Really, really cool, and their dynamic is great
What makes me sad about them: HAHAHAHAH THEY FUCKIN DEAD, JIM
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I really rarely seek out fics that feature Lightning because I'm very picky about how Lightning is being presented.
Things I look for in fanfic: Again, I am picky.
My wishlist: They deserve a second chance at life, at coexistence. I want them to be happy.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Jin for Lightning, and Ryoken for Windy
My happily ever after for them: HAPPY AND ALIVE TOGETHER WITH THE IGNIS
I am very repetitive with my vrains wishlist, but the vrains ending mentally destroyed me and I still haven't recovered

Server Movie Synopsis: DC League of Super Pets
*AN: Keep in mind that these synopses will contain spoilers and may not be complete, as I rarely see the entire movie while serving for it.   These synopses are just going to be fast impressions of an Alamo Drafthouse server.*
Awww, a puppy!  WTF, mom and dad are seriously just gonna let the puppy die?!  Escape, puppy!  Time lapse.  Kryptonian dogs live a hella-long time, apparently.  Already 20+.  Jeez, he’s kind of a loser.  Aaand here comes the old bromance standby:  Dude A falls in love and wants to get married, codependent Dude B feels unloved/betrayed/abandoned.  Lois has a sensible suggestion--let’s get the dog a friend!  Oh, that’s a weird collection of shit to have at a pet store/shelter...  That hairless guinea pig looks kinda evil...  First spoiler: hella-evil.  Lex Luthor’s mecha suit can fly without wings, control surfaces, or directional thrust, wtf.  Good to see the Justice League still breaks everything in sight while fighting bad guys.  Lulu may be evil, but even she won’t let a kitten burn!  Spoiler 2:  oh, she just sensed the kitten’s evil and was like ‘sure, a sidekick.’  Damn, that turtle is a raunchy old lady, lol.  OMG, Keith David works too hard.  And this raises questions about the Kryptonian AI construct thingies--like, it all seems pre-recorded somehow, so is there a degree of prophetic foresight involved here, or...?  The news tickers in this are straight-up savage, rofl.  Ooh, a training montage!  PSYCH.  Aaand apparently the Invisible Jet is only actually invisible when it’s setup for physical comedy.  Yikes, who wants to tell Diana what happened to her sweet ride?  “She’s still mad about what you did to her ship.”  For a tiny orange cat, she sure has big tortie energy...WTF, WTF, WTF, FURRY HAIRBALL GRENADE WHAT, THIS IS SOMEHOW EVEN WEIRDER THAN THE ROCKET LAUNCHER IN HER TAIL THAT SHOOTS FURRY BIO-ROCKETS.  Wow, that squirrel learned arc-welding reeeeeeally fast.  Okay, and the battle is a music video?  Sure.  I’d just like to return to the fact that none of the humans can understand what the animals are saying.  So.  Yeah.  Stuff them in the secret rocket in the billionaire’s office (apparently Bruce has one, too), shoot them into space to implode them, that’s pretty evil.  The day is saved thanks to the Power of Friendship, Krypto is converted to a Lois and Clark shipper because he now has a life of his own.
I mean, it’s a’ight...  Featuring a woefully underpaid Mercy Graves, an army of super-powered guinea pigs (Bad Guys much?), a deeply disturbing unrequited crush, TEEEEEEEAMWOOOOOOORK, Keanu being Keanu, a mid-credit scene mocking Vertigo Comics and corgis at the same time, and an end-credit scene mocking Black Adam.

Loved your last post about Narutos sexuality. Your research and analysis is impressive as always. You definitely changed my perspective on Naruto and Sakuras relationship. Kishi was actually never going for NS but was just making them get closer by simping over Sasuke, reaffirming Narutos gayness? Is Kishi basically using the fandoms own heteronormative glasses against them to put a gay couple straight under their eyes? Will you make a post analyzing Narutos "love" for Hinata, given that you think he is a closeted gay? I know you don't really watch Boruto, but did you see the theory that Naruto actually went in person to meet Sasuke instead of a clone, basically ignoring their families to have a moonlight date?
Kishi was actually never going for NS but was just making them get closer by simping over Sasuke, reaffirming Narutos gayness?
Remove Sakura from the Manga... Naruto (the manga) won't look like Shounen!!! It would be automatically classified under Shounen-Ai.....
Is Kishi basically using the fandoms own heteronormative glasses against them to put a gay couple straight under their eyes?
Probably... But it's weird that nobody is (most of that dumb fandom) asking the right question...
We: Why Naruto and Sasuke behave OOC???
They: Oh, it's because they are working hard to protect the world.
We: Well, why are they working hard to the point of avoiding their families even when they don't have much to do???
They : ***Left the Chat***
Will you make a post analyzing Narutos "love" for Hinata, given that you think he is a closeted gay?
Ummm.. It's not that I don't want to.... It's just that NH has pretty much nothing to explore or analyze....
Imagine, NaruSaku had the most interaction among any of the bonds in Naruto (Even SNS comes next only to them).... LOL.... Still Naruto didn't love Sakura 'that way'..... He tried to Kiss her, Date her, they had a snow-filled Romantic Proposal, People in-universe are shipping them together (Konohamaru, Sai, Minato), She hugged him before the villagers... Like you have everything set up for them to marry each other in a most believable way.... Don't you think????
Still it never had any bit of Romantic Undertones from either Naruto or Sakura..... ROFL...
This is one of the Unique and Trolling Bond I've ever seen.. Really.. Hands down to Kishimoto's brilliance!!!!
How could I analyze NH which had nothing but a brainless doll keep on Fretting and Orgasming, "Naruto-Kun" and Guilt-Tripping him at every given time?????
I know you don't really watch Boruto, but did you see the theory that Naruto actually went in person to meet Sasuke instead of a clone, basically ignoring their families to have a moonlight date?
First off, That's a Filler.... Analyzing it doesn't make any difference...
Secondly.... I think Naruto did send a Clone.... Since the Story Writers from Boruto are Brainless... They wouldn't think that deeply...

TALK TO US ABOUT MASS EFFECT I HAVE BEEN AN INSANE MASS EFFECT/SHAKARIAN TRASH PERSON SINCE 20-FUCKING-11 AND LEMME TELL YOU THOSE FEELINGS HAVENOT TARNISHED A SINGLE FRACTION IN THOSE TEN YEARS OH MY GOOOOOOODDDSSSS!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
I DEMAND A PLAY-BY-PLAY UP TO THE MINUTE OF YOUR REACTIONS TO EVERYTHING!!!!
you are so valid and I totally see why everyone I've ever mentioned it to loves the hell out of it
aksdjlsdfj I meannnn if you want to hear my rambling about it then hell yeah
Okay, gonna put this below the cut to save everyone else XD also- since I'm not leaving this Mass Effect obsession anytime soon, if you're not interested in seeing occasional posts about it, please feel free to block the tag "night plays ME"~
(mild spoilers ahead??)
((also for real I mean it when I say this is rambling as hell lol, apologies and no stress if absolute no one reads all this))
OKAY SO Mass Effect 1-
Stars help me, I was honestly hooked right from the start?? Like even in Legendary Edition (the combined trilogy just re-released in one "can play it on one system + minor improvements", for anyone who doesn't know) where it's smoothed out, of course it's obvious that ME1 is a decade old... but the foundation for these relationships are all there and gods I love them already.
Like - Kaiden right off the top is a delightful good fightin lad, what the hell. I've heard that he's viewed as 'bland' by a good portion of the fan community but I dunno, he's a delight and even more complex by the time 2 rolls around and you encounter him on Horizon, it was honestly Ashley I was way more meh about - mostly because before you can learn about her family history/etc, she comes off as hella xenophobic and I was immediately offended for my growing space family that she didn't like/trust all the aliens around, pfff.
(she gets redeemed a bit through further actions/evolving thoughts, but I thought in retrospect it was a bummer that they didn't flip the order there, give her a chance to be liked before the complicating factor of being so rude about aliens >:c that then she could grow from... ah well. Apparently she has a good arc but uh, let's just say I chose Kaiden at the "key junction" in the latter part of the game so I won't be seeing anymore of Ashley uh... anytime soon, haha.)
Garrus??? Is??????? The ABSOLUTE best???????????
I liked him from the start, I'm always a bit of a sucker for a rogue-detective "the system won't bring this bastard to justice, so I've got to" type and all their moral shadiness XD But he just gets better, honestly, and where I'm at in ME2 (right before the Reaper IFF mission, as of typing this, with everyone's loyalty!) I am only digging myself deeper into this hole-
-*wheezing* okay anyways -
Wrex is AMAZING I love fightin' middle-aged krogan bastard, gods. Liara is great too, I'm a sucker for a wlw relationship (playing fem!Shepard, so) - buuuut I'll admit she's a bit more one-note in ME1. Last week while I was still on ME1 I remember hearing (while trying to dodge spoilers) that her arc is really good, though. I think they leaned a little hard on the 'innocent but sexy' sterteotype on her (so despite the yikes aspect of a few of the things I've learned in ME2, lol, I actually really like the complexity that's been added to her character.)
Saved Liara first, so by the time I got to Noveria and had the standoff with Benezia there was the chance to have emotions over Liara having to face her TwT and of course, I made the questionable but quality decision to free Queen Rachni heheh. no ragrets
More than a blow-by-blow of my choices though I totally wanna take the chance to say that even in the mild jankiness of ME1 (goddammit, the Mako.... please..... please just go up this impossible cliff I just want to resource hunt-) the way that the lore, both obvious/key to main plot and the lesser/filler/background/world-building kinds... I just love it. It incorporates it well, you can go ham in the codex learning more, or just dive into the basics - it's clearly a complex galaxy (and they do an even better job in 2 of fleshing it out further), and it never really felt overwhelming. It was pretty natural figuring it all out-!
Plus the interesting implications of resource hunting amongst the sapient races, and the little side missions you better bet I did every one of- there's so much rich depth in the story if you do 'em!! (And that lead with that Keeper side mission...? Looking back, damn, clever foreshadowing-!!!)
And oh my gods, Ilios??? hell yeah. I loved that mission so much, especially having Garrus & Kaiden with me when talking to the hologram/computer, and more than anything, that last sprint in the Mako trying to get to the jump before it closed-???
yeet the boi-
Also mannn I love a good setpiece, and having to go up the side of the elevator, space-side?? such a cool setup!!
Plus it felt good having been Paragon enough (as simple as the good v bad vibe system is, I don't hate it, lol) to avoid one of the Saren fights, ngl. And the er, "second fight" with Sovereign-Saren.... hell yeah
... I'll admit I had to double check my choice re whether to save the Council. I did in the end, but I swear, sometimes the way they phrase things I'm like ".... okay but Garrus is right, defeating Sovereign is more important than these few leaders??????" woops. Listen, priorities, is all I'm saying..... ( ̄ヮ ̄|||)ゞ
'Course later they emphasize (in ME2) that there were 10,000 people on that same ship and I was like well I wouldn't have second guessed if I'd known that, I mean c'mon-
Also I did indeed romance Liara in this one, so I got that scene ;Dc But,,,, I also knew by the end that I was totally gonna romance Garrus in 2 since he's an option then finally,,,,, lemme tell you the guilt as I waffled over whether to romance Liara bc of it. hahaha.
Aaaaand Mass Effect 2-
So I'm only up to right before the Reaper IFF Mission, so I don't know the ending, etc etc lol. That said, I've just finished every side mission I've found with the exception of the Shadowbroker Quest and the Arrival Quest (I've heard the latter basically leads into ME3, and the former is best either right before the Omega 4 jump or in postgame).
So from the start - fuck yeah fuck yeah what a high adrenaline start Shepard noooooo but also yes save Joker aH-
The motion comic too hot damn nice job
I loved this setup, seriously - especially forcing Shep into this situation, having to work with/for Cerberus, and the compelling reasoning given behind "why" they do what they do (I especially found it a good point that the Salarians have the Task Force, the Asaris the Commandos, the Turians the- etc... like, true, when you put it like that, having a similar group advancing human interests/solving human interstellar problems is pretty reasonable...). That said, I love too that it really isn't shied away from how Cerberus is nonetheless fucked up - or its at least done fucked up stuff.
Listen, I still think some messed up stuff is gonna be revealed in 2's endgame......... after that Horizon mission and the Collector's ship???? TIM I SEE YOU YOU SHADY MF-
aaanyways lol...
I'm so so glad on a gameplay level they nixed the Mako style exploration. A few Hammerhead missions are fine and a lot more focused than the slippery ass navigation in that glorified ATV, pfff. The probes are a neat way of getting after similar resources - and more importantly, having good levels and some good hubs (the Zakera Wards, Omega, Ilium, etc) is way way more fun than having a more 'sprawling' space that is.... a lot of empty nonsense, lol.
Then there's the fact that we get Joker right off the bat and you can interact with him so much - and him and EDI??? Get out gods I love them. Kasumi is so right when she says they sound like a bickering old married couple lol. I have a terrible feeling that some shit is gonna happen with EDI..... but I don't think she's evil as-is, at least.
Side-eying the hell out of those "access forbidden" parts of her that she doesn't even know.... and the fact that her AI core has a locked door access................... something's gonna happen gdi LEAVE OUR ADOPTED AI ALONE.
(Also Joker pls stop fracturing your thumb on the mute button)
Also please save me there are so many hot aliens in this game,,,,, the xeno/monsterfuckers really comin' through strong in the sequels............... doin' the lord's work........................................
In general, I love how many levels ME stepped up in two with complexity and interwoven narratives!! Like, to the point it'd be almost a drag to replay ME1, even though it was fun going through it (if occasionally a bit tedious with the cookie cutter rando planet science/mine facilities, lol). Like, just from how fun and interesting ME2 is, mostly! more of all the pre-introduced races, plus new ones, plus more filling in of intragalactic politics, and more interesting implications of all these space-faring races mixing....
Also gods WREX and his planet holy shit,,,,, fuckin' hell yeah my man get their shit together and also adopt Grunt yes good-
And Mordin??? My singing semi-evil scientist best friend forced to confront his choices more than he thought he ever would have???? With some of the best ongoing general report chatter of all the companions??
(when I tell you I choked on my coffee when I talked to him after confirming romance choice w/ Garrus and that 'pamphlet' and 'anaphalactic shot if ingesting-' kajsldkfjsldfjk)
Like, fuck, the fact that they actually dive into the mixed morality and horrors of the genophage, and you can confront Mordin on it, for good reason, yet he still stands his ground, until finally some bits of his loyalty mission seem to... affect him, and I'm guessing might set up things for 3 with him? Unsure, but either way, damn, the fact that they start to dig into it...
And Taliiiii my beloved forbidden alien wife TwT her loyalty mission was SO GOOD. I love how varied they all are?? Getting to defend her and discover what she'd unwittingly been a part of-!!
Zaeed is a bastard but tbh I love that he is and that he's unapologetic in him - and Kasumi omg, best thief. A heist?? Gods, yes- I love our couch lounge chats XD
Samara is..... illegally.......... she's an illegally powerful and beautiful and eloquent MILF...........................
(.... listen I'm sapphic as hell and I'm kicking my own ass for picking her up last aksjdlfksjdfl - but her loyalty mission, damn. And seeing how there's this interesting cultural subset, and the struggle with the Asari in that they unquestioningly accept/respect justicars, but also know that the impact outside their culture is a diplomacy nightmare waiting to happen-)
,.,,,,,T,,, Thane,,,,,
I am weak for morally implicated murder dads okay?? And that voice??? His mannerisms?????? How you first see him, and that prayer after assassinating her...???????? And his history/his people's history with the hanar, gods I love how messy it is, it feels so much more real!
Also Jack is a mess and I love her (and want to get her some therapy, omg), and her and Miranda nearly duking it out after you've done both their loyalty missions??? so good and makes a lot of sense-! Honestly I would love more interactions between teammates on the ship, but there's already so much the devs had to balance I can't blame 'em for minimizing, heh. But suffice to say I also love Miranda and Jacob, even if I'm softest for my alien crew XD Hell yeah Jacob, we'll get loud and spill drinks on the citadel indeed TwT
.... I could write a whole essay on how much I love Garrus oTL Perhaps because he and Tali are the throughlines from 1 on your 2 crew, I have some of the strongest feelings about them... but genuinely, he was one of my favorite companions in the first game, and how you find him as Archangel in two? Getting to help him fight his way out after he's gone nearly 48 hours straight fighting off three gangs alone, jfc. His vengeance quest and what can happen there.... That line? fuck me, that line -
It's so much easier to see the world in black and white. Grey? I don't know what to do with gray...
How DARE you come for my heart like this, devs holy shit
(also, some other choice faves so far from the series from him include We can disobey suicidal orders?? and This wasn't in my training manual... [in 1, if you have him with you @ th Thorian fight] and his whole.... pop the heat sink - in his romance ;Dc)
asdasdfksadjfkl like I said I can write an essay on him PFFF suffice to say I'm very looking forward to his romance scene and where things go in 3
But yeah gods I'm just gonna keep rambling if I'm not careful lol. Gods I don't even know what to talk about it's all so good and while I can understand people roasting the obviousness of Paragon V Renegade (v neutral) choices/alignments, I think they do a pretty damn good job in 2 of pushing it further - to the point that there were some times that I accidentally got renegade points and I wasn't that mad, haha. There's so much fun in the interactions that I just have a good time anyways~
I have so many thoughts about TIM (The Illusive Man) and Cerberus.... theories evolving galore............... and like, what the hell!! Omega 4 going to the center of the galaxy is such a cool twist, goddamn - though my heart still breaks at losing Kaiden (his line if you haven't romanced him?? about feeling like he lost a limb when he lost you??? holy shit.... but I also can't blame him for not trusting Cerberus to the point of it affecting his ability to trust Shepard... like fuck Shep go after himmmm) I'm really excited to see where that goes since he comes back in 3, and what the fuck happens with Cerberus bc while I love the fact that obviously there are a lot of people in it for the right reasons, doing good work, there are those that are doing the opposite, and I have a very bad feeling about where TIM will end up landing....
All that said though I need to do the Reaper IFF mission (where I'm lightly spoiled as to getting That Boy, but not how/what happens to make it so - just that it's apparently wise to have all your side missions done before getting him...) and the actual Omega 4 jump. So we'll see what happens and what I think about it from there heheh!
.... major kudos and genuine props if you made it here to the end, I am so sorry for not editing on condensing all this, and appreciate you so much ;w;

How much do you think would change about Vampire Knight if Juuri didn't sacrifice herself to turn Yuuki human?
Hey anon,
I think a lot would change tbh
I believe I answered this before but I’ll try to give a short answer.
Basically, yuki would be aware of her powers and identity. Therefore, she wouldn’t be as stupid and immature as she is now
I imagine if she was never turned into a human she would have a more independent, calm and strong personality. Because she would be trained on how things work for vampires, how things are like in the real world
Pretty sure as seeing how she’d have a more secure personality and she’d know how to take care of herself, this could take away a huge load off the burden for Kaname. I imagine he’d be less protective of her then
I don’t really get why she had to be turned into a human even tho Rido was flicked away by Kaname for a while lol. Rido would have ended up coming back and she’d still have to fight him lol. I’m so sick of all these stories going for the cheesy “humanity” is better
Like, Juri and Haruka lived happily and they weren’t human lol. It’s possible. But you know, plot convienence for a stupid love triangle. As much as twilight gets hate, I like how they explored vampirism and immortal life as being a good thing
Anyway, I imagine yuuki never being turned into a human means she’d have no reason to be around zero. And even if they did cross paths, nothing would happen since they’d have nothing in common. He’d have no reason to get feelings for a pureblood since he hates them. And she wouldn’t have to be around him to grow pity and dependency on him
So there would be no zeki if yuuki was never turned into human. That ship is basically a product of the circumstances being forced on you. I could talk about this later lol
So yuuki never turning into a human means no zeki. And you know what that means? A not insufferable yuuki. A more decisive woman with conviction! The heroine we were asking for Hino!!
Who knows, maybe Kaname would want her to live as a normal student so he’d sign her up to the night class. Which leaves us at the cross academy scene where the story starts except it’s much better. Because yuuki isn’t annoying, isn’t useless and isn’t a two timer lol.
So basically yuuki never turning into a human would have made a much better heroine. A stronger, more independent woman, a less stupid woman, and a more decisive woman above all. A less depressing story lol
Edit: you know what anon, you know what answers your question also? Just look at Juri Haruka and Kaien! Lol. Juri didn’t grow up as a human yet still went to school normally, was still happy and still fell in love with Haruka. Except yuuki would always love Kaname. And yume marry, live happily. And later they would run into zero. Yuuki would tell him off and zero would develop a one sided love at most lol. And he’d prolly stay single bc he’s thirsty for yuuki while Kaname and yuuki love happily and have Ai 😍
And Juri is a way better character than yuuki will ever be lol. Maybe she’d grow up with a similar personality as juri. It seems her never turning human is better lol..
This ended up being not short. Idk whether to tag this or not 🤣

so @maskydoolovesmasseffect made a post about a Kaidan doll and mentioned the possibility of renegade shep using it as a voodoo doll and I play as a renegade shep so naturally I opened my mouth in the tags and as a result they encouraged me to write this and I aim to please lol so here ya go, I hope you like it I know I enjoyed writing it.
You could easily call this a crack fic, probably wouldn’t be far off also Shepard and Kaidan are married because I said so <3
“Did you see spectre Alenko on the news last night?” Her husband’s name coming out of the mouth of another woman piqued her curiosity almost immediately. She wasn’t going to deny her jealous streak and even if it was just his last name it was enough to get her to walk inside to see what all the fuss was about and why some random woman was saying his name to begin with.
“I did! He’s so dreamy.” Her friend swooned as she gazed up at the promotional poster they had hung up.
“Isn’t he? I wonder if he’s single.” That set Lily off and she charged over, fully prepared to tear into them but the sight in front of her stopped her in her tracks.
"What the hell…?" A display full of new 'spectre Alenko' merchandise was displayed right next to the very similar display her and Aiden shared. It was absurd, there had to be better ways to raise money than to sell souvenirs with her husband's face on them right?
Lily pushed past them coming face to face with dolls, posters and even a goddamn cardboard cut out. Now, she was well aware of just how gorgeous her husband was and couldn't blame the Alliance for exploiting it but the thought of random men or women walking home with and doing who knows what to a doll of him made her blood boil. She glanced at her own display, notably even more creeped out that most of the plush dolls of her were also almost gone.
Lily pulled the last one off the shelf and plopped it down right next to one of the many Kaidan dolls "No, no he isn't single." She said loud enough for the women behind her to hear as she snatched up one of everything, glaring at them before grabbing the damned cardboard cut out and dragging it along with her.
She was most definitely shoving all this in Aiden's swanky new apartment, there was no way it would fit in the Normandy and if Kaidan saw it he'd more than likely make her return everything.
After setting up her own personal shrine in one of the spare closets, complete with a flameless candle, seeing as Aiden didn't trust her with fire. She took a step back, admiring her handy work, Kaidan and her brother would both find it incredibly creepy but at the end of the day the credits all went to the war effort so if anything she had done a public service.
Lily picked up the admittedly incredibly cute doll and hugged it, it in no way compared to a hug from the man himself but it would do. She looked down at it "Hmmmm…" setting the doll back down she climbed up on the step stool Aiden kept around for her a dug in her emergency sewing kit looking for a pin or a needle, either would do she just needed something sharp and a knife or scissors would do more damage than she needs, they also fell on Aiden's list of 'things Lily isn't allowed to play with' but that's besides the point. It was a wonder he let her have knitting needles.
Hopping off the stool she picked the doll back up and examined it "Now...if it is a voodoo doll poking it's cute little plush head would be far too cruel." Lily looked between the pin and the doll's hand, with a shrug she gave it a quick prick not wanting to jab it in all the way if it actually did cause real damage to him. She doubted it though.
-------------
Out of nowhere Kaidan felt a sharp pain in his hand resulting in the coffee mug he was holding to shatter onto the ground, the hot cinnamon flavored liquid spilling onto the cold metal floor of the Normandy. Sighing, he bent down to clean it up. "I thought my sister was the clumsy one between you two." Aiden said as he grabbed some paper towels to sop up the coffee while Kaidan picked up the shattered bits of the mug, his favorite mug.
"Yeah I don't know what happened, all of a sudden I had this weird pain in my hand."
"Pain?"
Kaidan nodded "Like someone stabbed me, it's gone now though." He said as he stood up to toss the broken ceramic pieces into the garbage.
"Good but do you know what caused it?"
"No idea."  Kaidan chuckled "maybe Lily put a curse on me or something."
Aiden laughed "If she's bored enough I wouldn't put it past her to learn witchcraft." They both shuddered at the thought "But let's not give her ideas."
---------
“Lily! Are you in here?” Aiden called as he walked in, she had some errands to run which was fine, he hadn’t really needed her for today’s mission anyway but he had expected her to be on the ship when he returned but she was nowhere in sight.
“Uh yeah! In here!” she called back as she frantically tried to hide everything, she didn’t think he’d be mad but he would definitely find her crazier than he already did.
“You had me worried, you’ve been gone all day so I-what are you doing?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Wha-what ever are you talking about Ai?” Lily tried to appear nonchalant as her back was pressed tight against the closet door, guarding it best she could.
He narrowed his eyes at her “You’re hiding something.”
Lily scoffed “What? Aiden, I'm appalled, I've never hidden anything from you ever in my entire life.”
“Fine, then move.”
Lily blinked in surprise “Huh?”
“I forgot my hoodie and it’s cold, move.”
“No.”
“No?”
“I’ll grab it for you.” She said, turning around to open it but Aiden lifted her up by her underarms, placing her off to the side like she was a small child and with her height she might as well have been.
“Lil, what the actual hell is this?” His eyes didn’t know where to look. He knew she was a tad bit obsessed with him but they were married so that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, he just never expected her to make a shrine.
“Aiden listen I-”
“Where did you even get this stuff?” He asked, staring at the life size cutout, wondering how she was even able to get it home when it was a whole foot taller than her.
“One of the gift shops was selling it for the war effort.”
“So you bought out the whole store?!”
“No!” she looked down awkwardly “I only bought one of everything…”
“And set up a shrine in my apartment for a man you’re already married to?”
“We’re twins Aiden, we share everything so it’s not just your apartment.”
“Not true also that’s not my point.”
“Are you gonna tell Kaidan?” She looked up at him with puppy eyes, Aiden’s one weakness.
Aiden stared at her, he knew the right thing to do was dismantle it and tell Kaidan but his sister was too cute and he found himself unwilling to punish her like that. “No…keep your creepy shrine.” he said with a sigh.
“Yay!” she hugged him “you’re the best brother ever.”
“No, I'm an enabler, I enable you.” He said despite the small blush that krept on his cheeks, glancing back at the shrine, maybe he and Kaidan weren’t far off about the witchcraft thing.
-----------
Lily lounged on the bed in the captain's quarters, humming to herself as she poked various parts of the doll, Kaidan walking in as she stuck the pin in his back “Ow, shit!” he exclaimed, arching his back slightly and instinctively placing a hand on the area.
Lily froze, looking at the doll then back at him “What’s wrong?”
Kaidan shook his head “I don’t know, I just suddenly had this sharp pain in my back.”
“O-oh, I’m sorry babe, do you want a massage?”
“I probably just pinched a nerve or something,” he said as he walked over to her “I felt the same pain in my hand earlier too but it went away almost instantly.”
“How weird.” she played along as she hastily shoved the doll behind a pillow.
“I know, I should probably go see Chakwas later.” He sat down next to her against the very same pillow she shoved the doll under and she broke out in a cold sweat “is there something under the pillow? It feels like it’s propped up.”
Lily quickly snatched the mako figuring that sat above the bed “The mako is missing it probably just fell.”
“No...this feels softer.” He pushed the pillow to the side and found the plush doll of him laying face down with a pin in its back. Lily closed her eyes, lips pressed together, her head hung low “Hey Lil?”
“Yeah what’s up babe?” she asked, her voice slightly high pitched.
“What am I looking at right now?”
“A doll of you…”
Kaidan nodded “Uh huh, follow up question.” he took the pin out “why was this stuck in its back?”
“I was pretending it was a voodoo doll…”
“Excuse me?”
“I didn’t think it actually was! I was just poking it for fun.” She said defensively, though the more she thought about it the more she realized how demented it probably seemed.
“Right, well I’m getting rid of this before you accidentally cripple me.” Kaidan set the pin on the bed stand, grabbing the doll by it’s small plush arm and walking over to the door with it.
Lily hopped up, discarding the mako toy as she hurried after him, wrapping her arms around his waist to stop him, for as small as she was she had some incredible strength “I’m sorry, I won’t do it anymore but don’t throw him away he didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Lily, it's still creepy voodoo or not.”
“No he’s not he’s adorable!”
“I broke my favorite mug because of this thing!”” He exclaimed.
“That wasn’t his fault!” She looked up at him, eyes glistening with tears “please Kaidan…”
The rational part of his brain knew she was without a doubt faking but if she wasn’t and really was this attached to a doll she only had for barely a day he’d look like a pretty heartless husband for tossing it.
“Fine...take it.” Lily detached herself from him immediately, a huge grin on her face as she took the doll back.
“I promise no more voodoo!” She said as she held it protectively against her chest.
“Where did you even get that anyway?”
“One of the souvenir shops had a whole display. I wanted to buy them all but had no place to put them.”
“A display?”
“Yeah, apparently you’re a spectre and a marketing tool.”
“That’s….great.” He was definitely gonna have to talk to Hackett about that.
“Now I can add you to my plush collection, maybe i’ll knit him a pink sweater so he fits in.”
“Sounds wonderful honey.” He said, running a hand down his face.
She looked at him “Do you want one too?”
“I’m good, thanks.” He didn’t have a headache when he walked into the cabin but he certainly did now, Lily had a way of doing that to a person.

borderlands (or just tales if the borderlands series is too broad!) for the fandom questions :>
Ok I already did Borderlands main series so here’s TFTBL edition!
Favorite character: God this goes back and forth, Fiona-Sasha-Rhys are neck at neck truly... but at the end of the day I go with Sasha because I think she needs my support the most so I have declared myself #1 stan. :P (Rhys definitely needs it the least. Screw that guy.)
Least Favorite character: lmao honestly everyone in Tales brings me some measure of entertainment ngl. But no love lost with Scooter’s death really. Stop hitting on Fiona she’s gay.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Ngl everything’s like a distant second to Rhys/Sasha for me lmao... but then Fiona/Athena, Fiona/Yvette. I can’t really name any others without tossing in some main series characters, so I also like Rhys/Tim and, while we’re naming characters who’ve never interacted, Sasha/Amara. (Someone who grew up on the streets and Fights for Justice with her guns and, uh, her guns??? Sasha would be her #1 stan. If Rhys and Fiona get to crush on a vault hunter so does Sasha.)
Character I find most attractive: Stupid sexy Fiona
Character I would marry: Sasha 💖 (I feel like Fiona would want too exciting a lifestyle for me, lol.)
Character I would be best friends with: I feel like Fiona would be hilarious. She would bring out all my meanest qualities, lmao.
a random thought:
An unpopular opinion: Trust Fiona/Reject Hyperion is the superior route. ESPECIALLY reject Hyperion. Like I can see how [trust Jack] makes a good arc but rule isn’t even narratively satisfying or anything. I love [reject] Rhys but [rule] Rhys can choke.
My Canon OTP: Rhys/Sasha!
My Non-canon OTP: Fiona/Athena they coulda been great if Janey were not an obstacle.
Most Badass Character: Clearly Athena. No contest. Hands down. Not even close.
Most Epic Villain: AI Jack was fun as hell and I loved killing him
Pairing I am not a fan of: Rhys/Jack
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I mean if you stretch it to Bl3 definitely Vaughn’s weird mental break lmfao.
Favourite Friendship: Rhys and Fiona! But I liked Rhys and Vaughn too, their friendship was the first thing that remotely endeared me to either of them.
Character I most identify with: None of them really, every meme wants to know this but this just isn’t how I interact with fiction, I identified with a character one (1) time and I hated it and stopped watching the show lmfao. Maybe Rhys bc he seems like he had a pretty cushy life and I am also pretty privileged compared to everyone on Pandora.
Character I wish I could be: Sasha’s so cool man

Mass Effect Initiation thoughts
In short: this book is actually really good, N.K. Jemisin is, as we all know, an excellent writer! It’s the story of how Cora met Alec Ryder and joined the Initiative, and it has SO much good good SAM content and I am full of emotions.
- poor cora is so continually out of her depth, I want to give her a hug. the points made about her in the main game are true though -- she is not ready for leadership yet. (and that’s fine! she does much better with something or someone to belong to and that is so Valid. she’s an honorable Loyal Knight!!! one of the sexiest things to be, as we all know)
I think I’ll actually like her a lot more on this new playthrough now -- she must have been quite hard to write compellingly in the game because at the end of the day she’s really very straightforward and honest and loyal, it’s quite hard to uh ‘hide’ things in her character
- alec ryder deadass installed an unspeakably illegal (and did I mention experimental?) AI in cora’s head with no informed consent whatsoever. d A D
(when cora is like ‘are you actually going to another galaxy because they don’t have laws to stop you from committing fully to your craziness in public’ and alec is like *...maybe so meme* fadsfhkj he does literally say ‘this is why I’m going to another galaxy’ out loud at a later point of the book)
- this book is giving me the good good SAM content ;________; I love SAM so much, the scene where cora thinks she’s dying and SAM talks to her? when cora asks SAM if he’s okay being connected to her because if he’s sentient that matters to her (cora is a Good)? SAM explicitly having inherited alec ryder’s sense of humour and sarcasm and alec a) doesn’t know how it happened, b) distantly thinks he should probably track that process down and turn it off (and never does) and c) regrets all his life choices when his robot kid mercilessly snarks at him and questions his life choices? please bioware give me an me:a sequel with more of this stuff I’ll eat it up with a spoon
- body diverse asari! HUGE BUFF ASARI! Short stocky beautiful matriarch asari with one krogan and one turian trophy husband fast asleep in her bed in the background of a vidcall fkdjshfkjsdlhfkjsdah god I love mass effect with my entire heart
- OLD LADY INFORMATION BROKER VOLUS WORKING OUT OF ILLIUM!!!! this is not a drill what the fUCK this is the coolest shit
- fasdklhfsjkdalfhsdjk okay in Alec Ryder POV: “I don’t think [Cora] likes me very much.” Which probably meant she had good judgement. AFLSKJDHGJSDKF ALEC
he has a weird flip-flopping sense of self -- he is uncompromisingly (one might even say... astoundingly arrogantly) secure in his own intellectual superiority and that most other people are idiots not to be trusted and that he needs to do things himself because others would mess it up, and yet there’s this clear seam of self loathing around basically everything else about himself too. (You know who he reminds me of, in a more military and less visibly anxious way? Rodney McKay. Alec Ryder is like a slightly unfortunate outcome for a McShep lovechild. I think we just figured out why I have sort of a soft spot for him even though he’s a certifiable dick lol)
- this book really makes it hit home that cora grew up incredibly isolated and dirt poor. I’ve seen some people say her backstory is all sunshine and daisies compared to kaidan and especially jack’s, but honestly her background is complicated and fucked up enough that I’m just like ‘shit baby :(’ all the time
- well I have successfully solved the puzzle about whether alec ryder is an idealist or not; he absolutely is. a grouchy, bad-tempered one with no people skills, but an idealist nonetheless. alec ryder is in fact a storm of 150000 emotions in a trenchcoat, barely held in check by a thin fragile outer shell of iron lol, SAM was absolutely right to say that he was mostly governed by his feelings. (and I mean if anyone would know it’d be SAM I guess). I found some of it sort of sweet actually: he reflects in passing that one of the biggest reliefs of no longer being in the alliance is that he’ll never have to risk other people’s lives again. he fundamentally wants to build something good to help people live and be happy instead of destroying things. (he also is quite bad at predicting how other people could corrupt and use his innovations precisely to be destructive b/c he doesn’t think that’s the ~*logical*~ thing to do, so... y’know haha, maybe it’s good he went to another galaxy, the milky way could not contain his chaos)
also he thinks a lot about his wife, even though she’s been dead for years at this point. o u c h (she truly does seem to have been a tether for him in so many ways though -- like a tie to the real world/normalcy/possibly sanity, and that’s a bit how he still evokes her)
additionally: alec ryder did fistfight at the very least one dude in the line of bureaucratic duty, and perhaps more, enough for SAM to have a list of warning signs ready and at hand jdfsklfhasdjf. he did, very much, throw a dude through a table. (at least it’s implied said dude was an asshole) I LOVE that alec’s SAM is  the snarkiest iteration we’ve seen and that he’s perfectly willing to call the old man out on his bullshit (alec stresses that SAM is supposed to do what he says at the end of the day, but his SAM is also less subservient and more willing to argue and discuss things than any other we get to see -- and this is of course the SAM Ryder inherits, but I don’t think SAM is as confident in being able to read the PC correctly until a bit further into the game and the twin is of course a different person who’ll respond to different things so he’s not quite as... blunt? I guess? in confronting them about things. (the whole concept is just! so! interesting!!) anyway I feel like all of this says something about alec’s parenting style, for better or for worse haha. he sort of tries to be authoritarian but his children (well canonically at least Sara, she references having yelled at him a lot over the years) aren’t afraid to fight back or scared of the consequences of disagreeing, so I get the distinct feeling his temper never flared violently like that with his family at all, I think he’s more prone to just pulling away in disapproval.)
- I enjoy how casually diverse this book is  -- Jemisin has done such a good job making sure especially the human characters are from different backgrounds and places, as they would be lore-wise in the Mass Effect universe, though the games often skew unfortunately white. (andromeda much less so than the trilogy, though)
- my heart. is so so soft for the fact that a huge reason for cora to join the initiative is how much she bonds with SAM-E. and I am so sad for her because she just wants someone or something who’ll stay, something that won’t disappear on her without closure like her parents; she’s so insecure and scared under her competence (and WHY THE FUCK WOULDN’T SHE BE holy shit her parents just. weren’t there one day after she left home so she wouldn’t accidentally crush their ship with her untrained biotics and kill them all). and she chooses alec and his dream. and then alec goes and FUCKING DIES at the first opportunity Y____________Y alternate universe alec please drink your victor sullivan juice and survive, all these dumb children need you
- I am so surprised about how much fond respect alec seems to have for cora and how quickly he developed it. I suppose he has a harder time with his own children because it’s closer to home? he is a complicated man lol, this last part of the book where he shows her the ark and everything is weirdly sweet. again I think he has the potential to be a good dad somewhere in there and that just makes it so much worse that he wasn’t. (also he staunchly considers himself still a married man. god help me)
they’ve both grown to honestly love their sams T________T fml. (well alec has sort of bound up all of himself, the things he loves and their future in SAM, so it’s a bit more complicated but my point still stands) alec advocating for a consensual synthesis is very heartfelt and convincing; you really want to believe him.
cora seen through someone else’s eyes is also SO AMAZING!!! after this whole book in her head and she feels so flailing and uncertain and adrift and other people naturally view her completely differently. I especially like alec picking up on her not talking a lot. (I think this is why she responds so well to SAM, who’ll be there always and can be in her head. I wish this part of cora was more evident in the game, the fact that she has this sibling-like connection to SAM seems very important. sequel where both SAM and Ryder grow closer to becoming her actual family? please? I keep begging for ME:A2 into an empty aching void haha)
- alec ‘I don’t have time to die’ ryder still talking about everyone else being idiots as he’s slowly catching fire while saving SAM fhdjfhsdlfhasdhlfsjd he is an asshole but it is hard not to stan
- nO SAM-E D:D:D: oh well at least he’s still alive within SAM, in a way?
- hey. hey you know what’s fun. alec tries to use his last words and last thoughts to ask cora to tell the kids about ellen being alive this time too. haha. ha. fuck
he consistently goes out thinking of his family despite all his bullshit and I’m not okay
- CORA IS A PERFECT BODYGUARD/SECOND IN COMMAND AND I’M EMOTIONAL
- alec is. surprisingly afraid to hurt people emotionally? he keeps putting off telling cora the bad news about SAM-E, to SAM’s stated disapproval lol (I must repeat again: I love SAM so so much). this supports my thesis that in his personal life he’s avoidant rather than confrontational/aggressive. (professionally... again, he did very much throw a man through a table)
- man I hope we some day get SAM being this comfortably close and sarcastic with Ryder too. thinking about SAM-E and the small differences between him and uh SAM ‘prime’ it really must have been a huge thing for him too to become someone else, especially after the last person died like that. and he kind of has no choice but to experience that loss and death intimately. (now that I think about it that’s. fucked up, man. he literally felt alec go like it happened to himself.)
If I were to summarize the differences between the SAMs we have seen, cora’s SAM-E seems younger, more exuberant, shyer and more -- what’s a non-shitty word for needy haha? it’s very firmly established that cora longs to feel needed, so this makes perfect sense. alec’s SAM is blunter, snarkier and more prone to questioning things, and hilariously is sort of alec’s emotional intelligence. (probably serves a similar role to what ellen used to, actually. ow) scott/sara’s SAM feels more worried/focused -- which also makes sense; he’s just experienced losing his person/pathfinder, in a real way he’s also recently orphaned and must be Extremely aware that he now has an enormous responsibility, not only what he was built for but for what remains of alec’s family. ...poor SAM
(come to think of it I guess one vibe I get from in-game SAM is a little bit of ’harried and anxious yet loving and responsible uncle’ hahaha)
- so at this point alec knew cora could never be pathfinder after him, and he never told her. *accumulation of asshole points continues, though I suspect this might have come from a place of not wanting to hurt her again (b/c he’s the only one who has a right to know these important things amirite)* but I’m also strangely touched that the reason he’s hesitant to involve his children in the whole thing isn’t that he doesn’t have faith in them, it’s that he doesn’t want to burden their lives with something so heavy, a burden he created. can you just imagine... if this man had managed to take the time to explain himself, his motivations and his feelings to his children just once. just one fUCKING time. am I laughing am I crying I honestly don’t know
- this book makes me ache all over for the potential of Andromeda. and I don’t think it’s too late to salvage it either. I know a sequel probably won’t happen, at least not any time soon, but... *sits by rainy window like a wife wistfully wondering if her husband will return from sea*

Demon Slayer 12 - 13 | OPM 23 - 24 (FINAL) | BSD 36 - 37 (FINAL) | Shield Hero 25 (FINAL) | Fruits Basket 12 - 13 | To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts 1 | Astra 1 | Maou-sama, Retry! 1 | UchiMusume 1 | Dr Stone 1 | Fire Force 1 | Granbelm 1
Summer debuts aplenty!
Demon Slayer 12
I assume the creature on the episode titlecard is a boar…?
I see…! So Kyogai uses the drums like a game controller! Y’know, like A = attack and directional keys to move.
I almost expected Inosuke to appear from behind the screen door, but it was just Tanjiro…
Huh? For some reason, I find Zenitsu funny now…but only the tiniest bit. Not enough to laugh out loud, but enough to give tiny “heh”s.
Well…that episode title didn’t lie, at least…
Ah-hah! I knew it! Knewwwwwwwww it! It’s the double-personality trope I liked 5 years ago (you see it embodied in Martin/Alter-Az). The only thing I didn’t know was how Zenitsu would become badass…well, now we know. He sleep fights…I still think ingesting blood to invoke a second personality is still way cooler though.
Shoichi? Is that the kid’s name?
“Marechi” doesn’t seem to mean anything…
“Show me your wounds.” Then again, there are some wounds that you can’t present to others…not unless you show the side effects.
As much as I was scared by Exposition Crow, I have to be thankful the little feathered buddy is around. I wouldn’t understand “marechi” otherwise. But seriously, where does that crow hide in his spare time…?
Oh…the duty of filial piety…I know your feel, Tanjiro.
Tanjiro’s brain!Zenitsu is so accurate, I LOLled…a tiny bit.
Tanjiro, you gotta remember: be proud of where you’ve gotten today! Don’t be the man you were yesterday! Keep evolving with the times like water itself, because that is what water is about – change! (triumphant music plays in the background to accompany this declaration)
The only problem I have with filial piety is…what happens when your family has only daughters???
OPM S2 Ep 11 (Ep 23)
Garou’s got a point in that villains are meant to be sympathetic in order to get a good story. However, I’d still root for the heroes all the same.
Naruto running…why’s it so popular???
“Mentsuyu” (on Saitama’s blue shirt) means “noodle soup base” = a mixture of dashi (soup stock), soy sauce, mirin and sugar.
It took me a replay to realise that Garou turned red when the tree fell down.
BSD 36
Uh, dude? Who calls their kid “Eruisu-chan”…? It’s Elise, isn’t it?
Katai – yet again, can I just say he is the husbando we need and not the husbando we want? (LOL) There’s even what appears to be a sake bottle in the bottom left corner…
Is there such thing as a bullet-proof futon???
Come to think of it, this scene with all the rubble about halfway through the episode looks like it comes from the Dead Apple first key visual –the one that came out when the movie was announced. Not the Shin Soukoku one, the other one with Soukoku in a rubble-filled place looking at the horizon.
Looking at Natsume-sensei from the back reveals his hair is calico-coloured too…
I wonder how much of Dazai’s scheming is actually just Natsume-sensei…?
“What did you have for dinner last night?” “Yeah.” – Just imagining this with a monotone instead of Akutagawa’s usual anger is hilarious!
Snakes don’t run…?
Oh, I get why he was calling Akutagawa “bro”! When you’re married, you call your brother in law “brother” as well!
Bungou Stray Dogs 37 (FINAL)
I discovered something – the kanji under ECHO, 回向, are read ekou. What do they mean? The verb form means “to hold a memorial service for [someone]”, so I’d assume it’s “memorial service”.
For some reason, when Atsushi said “you’re not paying for this ride!”, I thought, “It’s your Ubr driver here”…LOL.
I seem to remember that Goncharov controls rock and his power is The Precipice…but I don’t remember reading past ch. 52…
“How can you be so sure?” I thought it was something like “Because that’s what I would do.” Turns out I was right…maybe I have read chapter 53??? Or is this a previous chapter that’s been movd forward???
Hmm…come to think of it, why is Akutagawa’s power to control fabric anyway? (Because he can control other things, it’s just that he chooses to use his coat as a default.) Does the Rashomon story have to do with that…?
Oh, that’s cute. Shin Soukoku are on the same thinking wavelength now. (somewhat sarcastic)
Come to think of it – season 1 anime!Atsushi was about as whiny as Zenitsu…hmm. Now there’s a cross-anime comparison I never thought I’d make.
“…what appears to be a hiker…” (or maybe it was multiple hikers…?)
Did you notice Akutagawa was missing his coat?
“Fancy hat boy” – That’s why the fandom calls Chuuya “Mr Fancy Hat”, LOL.
One thing’s for sure – whether you like BSD or not, you gotta admit they have a great sense of closure.
Shield Hero 25 (FINAL)
See? There is a Meteor move for Naofumi!
Raphtalia’s mostly been saying nothing but “Naofumi-sama” over and over again…it kind of irks me. It’s too bad I’m almost finished with this show.
I’m gussing the reward has to do with Raphtalia’s village.
Is Naofumi leaving???
LOL, before Naofumi faced the Waves, he was wavering…geddit??? (Oh, that joke’s terrible…)
Fruits Basket 12
I think Shigure attended the ceremony to procrastinate on his writing…LOL.
Okay…I started this episode a few days back and now I hav a bowl of piping hot pho to go with it! Let’s get back to business!
Momiji is a scheming little brat, ain’t he?
The “Yuki wearing a girls’ uniform” was funny…because reactions.
Hmm…even though I know what’s going to happen, I only just realised Akito and Yuki only seem to wear traditional Japanese dress when tied down to their curse or their main house. Westrn cloths thereby symbolise progress for them…but you can’t say the same for Shigure, though, so there goes that hypothesis…
I thought for a second they were going to play baseball…that’s what they did in Star Driver.
Fruits Basket 13
Snake attack!!!
Hmm…Ayame clearly used a convo diversionary tactic there (avoiding the topic).
“Aya says he sells men’s dreams.” – LOL.
Demon Slayer 13
I find it interesting Tanjiro also has respect for his opponent, not just empathy.
Aww…this message of recognising your skills and having them be recognised by others is cute. I needd that, really – ever since about a year ago, sometimes I’m so negative I just want to be erased from the face of the earth. That’s why I love Rokuhoudou so much – it was my solace from such thoughts.
Seeing the eyecatch’s strip go vertical for Zenitsu was interesting – I didn’t think it would change orientation midway through the show.
Okay, in this book I read recently – Symptoms of Being Human by Jeff Garvin – the protagonist admits to having “an overdeveloped sense of theatricality”…or dramaticism or something like that. I now realised Zenitsu has that too…although now he’s back to bugging me as a result.
Oh! So Inosuke was the 5th survivor! I had a feeling that would be the answer, but now I’ve confirmed it.
WHOA! I’ve never seen Tanjiro go all Papa Bear like this!
…and you can tell with that pre-OP shot that Ufotable ran out of budget for once.
The Legend of the Eight Samurai is also known as…wait for it…Hakkenden! There’s an anime called that, y’know? Update: It’s Satomi Nansou Hakkenden vs Hakkenden (with some subtitle on it).
To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts 1
First anime of summer! Now if only my CR would stop buffering so much…I’d be a happy person.
Oh…great. Fantasy information dump right here…just like Fairy Gone.
Is this weird that I recognise Patria to be…Korea? (At least in history. Its people seem to be generic Europeans.)
Is this a “dudes in war are scarred for life” thing again??? Please, please don’t let this be another Spec-Ops Asuka.
…and now here come the furries. (sarcastic)
Aren’t the white coats really impractical for battle???
If Cain isn’t a vampire or based on a bat…I dunno what I’d do, but I’m pretty sure he is, based on those pretty boy features.
I thought her name was Nancy…? Her name is Nancy Schaal Bancroft, after all.
Ooh! It’s the Abominable Walrus! I’m so scared~! (mocking tone)
This is basically an AI story, but fantasy-based, isn’t it…?
90s fire in the background…LOL.
“I’m going to ask Elaine to be with me.” – Now there’s something I didn’t think Hank would say.
LOL, Cain Madhouse really is mad! (in the Joker-style “insane” sort of way)
Well…uh, it was a bit predictable, but had its perks. I mean, there’s no CGI in it at all for one thing…I guess we wait for more (of this show and the debut of other shows) to see if it stays.
OPM S2 Ep 12 (Ep 24) (FINAL)
Shouldn’t that be “whale on an opponent”…?
What’s up with the montage, though???
*dead Centichoro* - Now that’s what I call “legs for miles”…! (LOL)
Astra 1
I’ve read some of the manga for this, so it’s my most anticipated anime this season! I can only hope it lives up to its own hype.
Double-length 1st episode! Ooh! Just like the manga’s double-length debut.
Okay, who decided on using CGI for Aries? Put it on the ship, not on her!
Oh, foreshadowing! Me likey.
I can’t really tell what Aries is meant to be screaming because she’s screaming over the woman, but it’s definitely not “beef” Aries is yelling.
Is it just me, or is there a frame around this scene at the Spaceport…?
I guess Aries is what they call a space case! (Wahaha!...Okay, I think that’s one stupid joke too many, now.)
Boob shot??? Why??? Also, according to the manga’s supplemental material found between chapters, Yun-Hua’s suit is newer than Aries’s (IIRC).
I definitely do not remember seeing a picture of Kanata’s sensei in the manga at all. I know Kanata refers to his sensei quite a bit, but…hmm…maybe the fact he looks like Charce means something. Update: For some reason, I remembered Charce as “Charles”…?
This scenery, with the ground making platforms in the air, looks like Dr Stone!!!
I just noticed the frame expanded after Kanata entered the sphere.
Did we need the flashback again???
Zetsubou is “despair”, at least from the way I learnt it – from Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei, of course. It can be translated as “hopeless” in context, though.
Second recap from earlier in the episode. Well, at least it’s not Detective Conan or Demon Slayer bad…
Wow, they’re really trying to sell a potential Kanata x Aries ship here. That wasn’t in the manga either.
This is the 3rd time for the same recap…geesh. The things you notice when the episodes are compiled and online for you to watch…they can get kind of annoying.
I think the star = planet thing makes more sense when in Japanese, since “hoshi” can mean both. In English, it makes Aries sound like more of a space case…
Maou-sama, Retry! 1
…and the award for Most Boring Opening in a While goes to…this show!
I almost expected blonde!Rem to be called Rem…I knew that her name wasn’t Rem, but still…
Seriously? The face game of this show should be higher for it to pull off a gag involving funny faces…
The run cycle of this show’s…kinda suckish. Like Dororo’s one scene where he’s Naruto running.
“It’s you who is the root of all evil.”
UchiMusume 1
Aka “If It’s For My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord”.
The language on the title card seems to be a substitute for English. If you just take that thing that looks like brackets as one symbol, that seems to be a Y. How can you tell? Because “little” matches the 3rd last word.
The devil language seems to be based on Japanese, though…at least from what I’m picking up. Update: Oh! So when she says “toilet”, it’s just the syllables backwards! Just like in Hataraku Maou-sama.
I swear, if this guy isn’t voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, I’m going to have to swallow my hydralyte drink properly! (I’ve been struggling to drink it all day today.) Update: Nope, it’s Nobuhiko Okamoto.
I thought I just read something on the devil list that said “Bobble Space” in English…wuh?
Dr Stone 1
This is my 2nd most anticipated debut of the summer 2019 season. Let’s go!
Ooh, I see Crunchyroll even got themselves a fancy new intro card…which makes them more like what Funimation used to be on that front…
I know people have been comparing Senku’s hair to green onions…and now I can’t unsee it. Dang it, you guys! That’s the first real thought I’m having for this anime?!
*raises arms like Christ the Redeemer*…and Boichi and Riichiro Inagaki said, “Let there be light!”…and for some reason, it was green light…
Hmm…I thought in the manga Yuzuriha was shoved to the tree, which made Taiju look more like a hero to her. Turns out she ran to the tree then got petrified, if the anime is anything to go by.
I heard a really accurate “what’s happening?” in the scene which is meant to have English speakers in it…it’s almost creepy, to be honest with you.
Shuei…LOL. It’s clearly a play on Shueisha.
I didn’t think of this when reading the manga, but this anime’s very much a Holmes and Watson scenario…although Watson here is a little bit too dumb for some people’s liking…
I swear TMS used pictures of the real thing when looking at those grapes…
I love seeing Senku being pissed off. He’s so smug all the time, I needed that change of pace.
Maybe one day Senku will make vodka…LOL. I’m kidding.
Fire Force 1
Oh geesh…so Ohkubo grabbed the Aria from Ao no Exorcist to make his nuns work???
Why is there Naruto running???
“I’m a newly-assigned…”
Kyoukai means church. Does it really mean “cathedral” as well???
“Is that the scent of a damp woman?” – Uh, duuuuuuuude? Excuse-moi? That is not how you treat a lady you’ve just met…!
Can I insert a “Twinkletoes” comment from Toph (Avatar) yet…?
Okay, scrap that. Can I do that Overwatch “Molten CORE!” thing instead…?
Granbelm 1
I started watching this because it’s being promoted as “magical girls drive mechs”.
One of the mech ladies reminds me of…what’s her name…from the Re:Zero LNs…I believe her name is Beatrice, but that’s the name of one of the library loli, isn’t it…? *Googles* Okay, her name is Priscilla. AFAIK, “Priscilla” is NOT the name of the orange-haired lady in Granbelm, though… Update: Her name is Anna, actually.
These mechs remind me of Kim from Twinkle Star Sprites.
Wow…ripoff purple iPhone, much…?
Shingetsu = new moon, mangetsu = full moon.
I feel like Mangetsu is a relatable protagonist, but also annoying as a result of being relatable.
“Pennies from heaven” is a phrase you say to declare your good fortune, much like you say “speak of the devil” for bad luck when it comes to a certain person who arrives at the wrong time.

My Personal Opinions
On s8 / finale of Voltron: Legendary Defenders---
- The 1st ep was awful... If anything, a Kallura slow burn with sweet, tender, angsty moments in between, would have been better than literally throwing it in our faces for nearly the entirety of the first episode. This isn't a Kallura bash at all. Just saying, 75% of their romance was depicted in the first 45 mins just to get their plot/arc started, but it could have been written better.
- The second to last ep was a fantastic ploy by the writers, and here's why:
There are literally infinite universes with infinite realities, all existing at the same time in the VLD-verse. If you have a particular ship or fanfic (or etc) regarding VLD, it is, technically, 100% canon. Because theoretically, in one of their realities, it's a thing.
Regardless of feasibility, or ridiculousness, it's canon.
- Which also addresses the whole post-Voltron Lance pairings: literally anything is possible guys, may you all sail towards the rising sun.
- I personally am a Plance / Pidgance fan myself, and was on board with the PIE movement because I could totally see it and thought it was so freaking precious and was so excited to see it play out...
In the vlog episode, with Pidge's mom, we see her making several referances to loving "plants" a term used by Plance shippers because it sounds the same. And in the first episode, Colleen makes a remark about Pidge being 15 and unable to make huge decisions without asking her mom. Even if a year has passed, she remains 16. And even though it's a cartoon, I felt the writers wanted to be clear about consent / legality issues. There's been so much fire already about that issue, they probably thought best to not add any fuel and steer clear of it, deflecting any criticism / hate for it, and go the safe route.
- ALL OF THAT being said, VOLTRON ISN'T ABOUT THE SHIPS. 90% of reactions I see, are about ships. Let's please focus on, idk, the other, substantial and meaningful plots/ friendships/ life lessons/ badassery/ hilarity
- I am LIVID that Lotor didn't get a redeeming arc. Fucking Zarkon, the main antagonist for half the damn series, was shown as having his actions dictated and his mind altered by an interdimensional substance. He showed grief for his actions, made amends to his commarades, and helped Voltron move forward in the end.
HONERVA, even... the restoration of the realities wouldn't have been possible without her willingness. Granted, she destroyed them in the first place, all in search of love and acceptance, and was only able to bring them back with Allura's sacrifice... she had to /choose/ to do so, to bring them back, and by doing so, redeemed herself.
Lotor could have been brought back, for real, and been redeemed. But no. He remained a vision, a lost cause, and a name to be remembered in pity.
(Though we did get to see him as a beautiful, damn smart child, so that almost halfway made up for it.)
- The characters I wanted to see more of? Like Romelle?? They could've had a few one liners sprinkled throughout the season, but were given maybe 3 with a few background appearances, and it left me wanting more.
- Storyboard pacing was oddly timed
- I feel like Lance and Pidge would've goofed around at the fair like they did at the mall and I was a little sad to see they didn't
- There is a massive underappreciation for how Hunk reprimanded the dog for trying to eat the food, then immediately followed it with, "I'm sorry for yelling, I'll make you dog treats later." ❤
- My favorite episode is the video blog. Very creative, expertly put together, fun enough to give you a break from the season's heaviness, but still had enough to move the plot along. It's right behind the DnD rpg ep, for me.
- I'm not mad Allura died... Hear me out!
If there was anyone in the infinitesimal universe who wouldn't hesitate to put others before herself, its Allura. Although it is always hard to see a beautiful and beloved character die, her sacrifice was the grandest gesture anyone could have EVER done, and it serves her memory right. She did the most powerful thing anyone had done (or COULD have done) in the series: she restored the fabric of the infinite space time continuum. They didn't do her dirty. They immortalized her in the stars. And that's what our lovely space princess deserves ❤
- Would've liked to see even a glimpse of Shiro just BLUSHING at his new love interest but ok just show them already married lol
- Pidge in pigtails, Pidge watching old Voltron, Pidge giving up KBP for Allura, Pidge fighting with her mom, Pidge making a lil Chip AI and giving him her glasses, Pidge being in tune with Olkari and being brilliant and feisty and JUST PIDGE DOING FUCKING ANYTHING I freaking love it OMFGGG ❤❤❤❤
And that's all I can think of for now. Overall, it was a fantastic series. I will definatley rewatch it in a few years. My opinions might change, they might not.
The point is, regardless of my criticism: I learned, I experienced, I laughed, I cried, I grew.
And that's all anyone ever needs from a tv show, right?

Kagura and  The Bridge : an OKIKAGU HINT.
I am going to write a long okikagu sign that has been hinted from the start throughout gintama, it might not be so noticeable but it is definitely significant. That is the connection between Kagura and the bridge. The contents might be old but i never saw anyone really write about this yet so here i go.
Plus is there any lateness to any okikagu hints at all? After all we are on the verge of either cannonness or sinking right now that this is just the perfect time to indulge in some more okikagu hints, right?
(All credit to my good friend and okikagu soulmate : yuuki_cabbage//ig or c10ud10//tumblr - she’s the one who came up with these hints hehehe)
If there is one setting that we can relate Kagura to, much like you can relate Gintoki to Pachinko or Shinpachi to Otsu-chan, it is Kagura to the bridge. Why do I say this?
This entry is not in chronological order, but it will build up to a perfect okikagu hints at the end (i guess?)
1.       Kagura will go to the bridge, whenever she’s feeling conflicted, sad and lonely. This is seen during valentine day episode (203) and the cellphone episode (230). But more than so, we can see it earlier in gintama ending 14 (Wo Ai Ni), where we can see the whole ending of Kagura walking alone, feeling lonely at night, where she ends up at the bridge in the end. This signify that the bridge is where she usually will be during her time of sadness and loneliness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2.       In both cases (Valentine Day and Cellphone episode) she has thrown off things off the bridge. Namely her chocolate and the broken yorozuya cellphone strap of hers, which are a set of 3. She has thrown it off as if wanting to get rid of the feelings that’s burdening her. It shows that she felt by throwing the things down the river, the flows of water will wash away her feelings and will make her feel better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.       In the end, she still ends up giving chocolate to Ginchan and Shinpachi. And she did retrieve the cellphone strap and install them on her umbrella.
Tumblr media
Now to the Okikagu hints.
Okay you all know where this is going. But before I even go there and state the obvious, let me bring you back to the 16th opening of gintama, Beautiful Days by Okamoto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the first 3 shots we got is Ginchan with the yorozuya building as background, Shinpachi with his Kodokan Dojo as background, and what? Kagura and the bridge as background! Wow what a shock right. This for me is such a huge sign, which likened the importance of the bridge to Kagura. Yorozuya Ginchan building and the Kodokan Dojo are respectively home for both Gintoki and Shinpachi. But Kagura got the bridge as background? Damn that’s such a huge sign.
So now we have established the importance of the bridge to Kagura right? You with me so far?
Now! Up to the obvious Okikagu hint, which we all already know about by now.
1.       Kagura went to the bridge that day, because she is feeling conflicted and sad. We have already established this connection. The bridge is the usual place where she will find solace, or some kind of peace during her time of sadness. And guess who shows up? Out of nowhere?
Tumblr media
I don’t think so.
Tumblr media
At this point, Sougo must have knows that Kagura is feeling sad, maybe because he was too. We know that they always seems to know how to find each other, like how Kagura found Sougo sad and alone during the moment of Shinsengumi disbandment (and claimed that she was just taking a walk), or when she found him in the park during the Rokkaku incident.
So their meeting wasn’t at all coincidence, if not anything, Sougo knew Kagura would be there at the bridge, and he is purposefully come and meet Kagura (to say goodbye)
2.       Okay ready your hat because this is big, Kagura did throw Sougo off the river! Huahahaha, sound familiar? Because that’s what she will always do, she throws the things (or person) which making her feel conflicted into the river, maybe in hope of washing away her feelings.
Tumblr media
3.       But as always, she went back after it, which she did to Sougo too, because no sooner than that she herself joined him in the river for a (full blown? Well no really) fight. This is where they fought and making that beautiful promise of not losing to anyone else.
Tumblr media
Bonus:
Kagura and Sougo was smiling, a lot after that, who made you guys smile like that huh? Like you can literally read Kagura’s sadness but in the end she smiled so prettily like she’s content, and of course, Sougo too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More BONUS:
1. Kagura and Sougo’s reunion where they reminisce their promise <3
Tumblr media
2. Sougo agreeing to Kagura like an old married couple <3
Tumblr media
SPOILER ALERT!!
SPOILER ALERT!!
Final Bonus!! and (spoiler alert )Beautiful Kanna Chan who might be their kid (lolol? i guess not?) We can dream bye.
Tumblr media
I’m done. I’ll go down with this ship even if it sinks into the Mariana Trench, and i hope i will see you guys in there LOL. <3

001: madoka magica!
(For this ask meme!  Already answered: 001: Vesperia, Yu Yu Hakusho, Symphonia ½ 002: Kurama/Hiei/Kurama, 003: Heero, Rokurou, MCU!Captain America/Thor/Starlord)
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
Favorite character: Akemi Homura.  Hands down, my favorite out of all the girls.  She refuses to quit, is reality warper levels of stubborn, and honestly rather creative about her power.  She realizes that just being able to stop time isn’t really useful, so she takes the initiative to devise weapons and ways to fight to provide more to the team, eventually settling on conventional weaponry (guns, bombs, etc) so she can actually provide offense during her Time Stop.
Least Favorite character: Kyuubey.  Just . . . I know he’s got a case of he’s an alien and Blue and Orange Morality, but seriously, Kyuubey.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): HomuMado, KyouSaya, Mami/being happy and not losing her head (too soon?  XD)
Character I find most attractive:  None of them
Character I would marry:  None of them
Character I would be best friends with: Madoka.  She’s such a bright ray of sunshine and she really does her best all series to be a good friend, trying to understand her friends as best as she can to support them and ease their suffering as much as she can.
a random thought: I’m convinced Homura probably took a time loop or two off to indulge in life as a normal girl.  And possibly might have dated Madoka in those loops, lol.
An unpopular opinion: I’m pretty sure actually liking Rebellion and not really feeling that it’s a total derailment of Homura’s character is probably an unpopular opinion.  I honestly feel that Homura’s gone through so many time loops, is so jaded with the idea of everyone else dying, and that in the end, she wasn’t really happy with the way things were at the end even though magical girls got the chance to be at peace when they finally ran out of magic and died.  Homura made her wish to Kyuubey at the end of that very first time loop with the hope that she would be able to kill all the witches herself, finish off Walpurgisnacht either alone or with the help of Mami/Sayaka/Kyouko, and get some semblance of a happily ever after with normal human!Madoka.  She didn’t get that.  So in that light, Rebellion made sense because a part of Homura still selfishly wanted to make that dream a reality, going so far as to warp reality and rewrite the rules (again) so that could happen.
My Canon OTP: I love both KyouSaya and HomuMado.  You can’t tell me they’re not canon, especially not after Rebellion.  Sayaka and Kyouko literally hold hands partway through the final battle as they’re both reunited (and doing a back to back badasses moment no less!) with all the charades cast away, and Homura literally cites love (using “ai” in the Japanese dialogue) as the motivation for everything she did in the end.
My Non-canon OTP: Mami/being happy and not losing her head, lol.  Although I suppose both Madoka and Homura did try to grant her that, haha.
Most Badass Character: Homura.  She went from total n00b to taking A Shit Ton of Levels in Badass by the time we see her in that final time loop.  I mean, just look at everything she managed to set up in that final battle against Walpurgisnacht.
Most Epic Villain: Kyuubey.  He’s really just so much fun to hate, with his contracts and creepy plushie smile, and I really do love how he’s been written.
Pairing I am not a fan of: I don’t really read a lot of Madoka fic, so I don’t really have one I don’t like.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Personally?  I love the story as it’s written.  I just wish we had another movie/series to pick up where Rebellion left off.
Favourite Friendship: Madoka and Mami,
Character I most identify with: Not sure I really have anyone I heavily identify with in MadoMagi, to be honest.
Character I wish I could be: Uhhhhhhhh nobody.  I mean, my choices are to be an evil manipulative alien, Being Meguca Is Suffering, and the town isn’t really a place I’d like to live in.  So, yeah, nobody.  XD

The Misadventures of Prince Kim - chapter 61
Hey hey hey all you new followers! Do you happen to have like 10 years of free time? Do you like royalty? Do you love geography and history lessons? Do you laugh at reading about Kim being a total idiot? Do you thrive off timey-wimey nonsense? Do you ship Kimax? Do you irrationally love the minor classmates? Well if so, then do I have the fic for you! This piece of trash is currently about 230,000 words and still going, so check it out!
Here on AO3 too where you can read it from the beginning so that it actually makes sense lol
Once Max and Kim were well again, Markov was able to spend more time practising his new skateboarding tricks. Max also spent plenty of time upgrading him over the next few weeks, fixing bugs, enhancing his AI, and even giving him a little arm so that he could pick things up with it – and most importantly, give fist bumps.
For a while things seemed to really be looking up, especially compared with the dreary and dangerous previous several months. Everything was a little brighter, everyone a little happier. The atmosphere in the school in general was at a higher level than it had been in a long while. Sure, things weren’t perfect, but they were better. Was it because of Markov’s existence? Or was life just at a high point right now?
Whatever it was, by the time the oracle sessions rolled around, Kim was cheerful enough that he decided this time he would not change his mind at the last second – he was going to ask the question he really needed the answer to. Even if the answer would be bad, he could take it. At this point in time he was in a much better state of mind than he had been last year. It would be alright. And anyway, now that his kingdom was part of the International Alliance, surely it would be safe enough to return home soon.
It was Max’s turn first out of the trio, as usual. Markov had decided to wait outside, not wanting to interfere. It was sweet of him. He really did seem to act like a real human on the surface these days, even though he was far from it.
“So,” Master Fu said as Max sat down in front of him for the third and final time, “what is your question?”
Max had spent a long time thinking about it. There were plenty of questions he wanted answers to – how is it possible for a snake to learn Morse code? Why is schoolwork not so easy anymore? Will I marry Kim? But he couldn’t ask questions about others, and there was nothing particularly eating away at him that he wanted to know about. He had also considered asking a “stupid” question, like Kim had a tradition of doing, but couldn’t even think of one of those.
He sighed and simply went for one of the most obvious questions possible. “Will I die from old age?”
Fu put his hands on his turtle for a few seconds, then looked up at Max and smiled. “Yes. So there is no need to fear over poisoned chocolates anymore.”
He knew about that?! Well… he was an oracle, and though Max was not entirely sure how Fu’s powers worked, he did certainly know more about everyone than he let on…
But still, it was a relief to know that he wasn’t going to die off anytime soon. He had an entire lifetime ahead of him. Hopefully a good lifetime, filled with happy events.
“Thank you,” he said, starting to get up.
“How is your robot?” Fu asked.
“Oh, you know about him? Markov’s fine, thanks, he’s waiting just outside.”
“From what I hear, he has made good friends with everyone.”
“He really has! Bringing him to school was the best idea ever, he’s really thriving here.” Max tried not to sound too full of himself, but he really was proud of having created such a smart little robot.
“What an incredible feat you have achieved, to program someone so intelligent at such a young age, and in such a short span of time,” Fu said, stroking that little beard of his.
“Well, others have created sophisticated robots too, so it’s not that big a deal…”
“Would you say your robot is more or less intelligent than Alix’s pet snake?”
Max paused to think. What kind of question was that?
“I’m not sure,” he said finally. “Maybe around the same.”
“And would you say Alix’s snake has a near-human level of intelligence?”
Well, it could understand everything that was going on, and could win Monopoly games and partake in lacrosse matches, and kind of even speak. It was a pretty darn smart snake.
“Yes,” he said.
“So then it follows that Markov, too, is near a human’s level of intelligence. You have programmed a robot that is more sophisticated than any other in the world.”
Max looked down, his face feeling warm. “No, I’m sure there’s other – I mean, Markov is intelligent, but a lot of that is down to him learning things, and – I’m not–”
“You created Markov, a being that is somewhat more than just a robot.” Fu was smiling at him. “You have a latent gift that you never even knew about.”
A latent gift? He didn’t mean like… superpowers, did he?
“I just happen to be good at robotics and programming,” Max said. “Markov has the ability to act human and learn from his experiences, because I programmed him that way. Not because he’s inherently… alive…”
He trailed off. True, Markov wasn’t alive, but it somehow hurt to say.
Fu just continued smiling. “Perhaps once you leave this room, you should ask him why he skateboards a lot these days.”
Fu knew about that too? He really knew everything. But anyway, what did that have to do with anything? Max had programmed Markov to be curious and want to learn new things, so it would make sense that he wanted to learn how to skateboard too.
“Alright, I’ll ask him.” Max stood up. “Thank you for your answers.”
“You are very welcome. I wish you all the best for the rest of your life. And…” Fu held out a bowl. “Would you like a complimentary mint on your way out?”
“Thanks.” Max took one, then left the room.
Sure enough, Markov was waiting outside with the others, and whizzed over to meet Max as Alix was called into the room next.
“Max, my friend! How was your oracle session? Did you get the answer you wanted?”
“Yes, I did,” Max replied. “Master Fu says I’ll die of old age, so I don’t need to worry.”
“That’s wonderful news! I still don’t understand, though – how is Master Fu able to predict the future with 100% accuracy? Humans should be unable to do so, or at least not without a large degree of error.”
“It’s magic.” Max hated saying it – why couldn’t magic make sense, like science did?
“Oh, so like how Alix is able to have knowledge of the events of parallel universes without accessing a wormhole to visit them herself? Or those two members of nobility remotely controlling local weather?”
“Yes, like that.”
“Hmm. Magic is something that I cannot make sense of.”
Markov was silent for a few seconds, probably looking up everything about magic that he could from his internal database. There wouldn’t be a lot in there, though. No one knew much about magic. Max decided to use the time to ask about what Fu had suggested.
“Markov, why do you skateboard a lot these days?”
“Max, you programmed me to learn about new things whenever I am able to. Skateboarding is something I very much wanted to learn about.”
Exactly. It wasn’t anything special – it was just his programming.
“But also…” Markov’s volume had decreased ever so slightly, and he spoke a little slower. “I have already learnt a sufficient amount about skateboarding. Yet I continue to do the activity. There does not appear to be a logical reason why.”
He bobbed up and down on the spot, blinking every few seconds, the sound of his internal parts whirring so loudly it could be heard over the propeller. Clearly he was thinking hard.
“Skateboarding causes my CPU to work at a faster rate. I return to that activity over and over as if I am compelled to by my programming, even though that is not the case. I just… want to do it.”
That couldn’t be true. Markov spoke like a human, but it couldn’t mean anything. Robots didn’t want things. It was impossible.
“Oh!” Markov’s eyes lit up into exclamation marks. “I understand now! My behaviour correlates with what is typically seen in humans and other living organisms. I participate in this activity for the same reason that Alix and her snake do. It is fun. I… enjoy it. What I am experiencing is happiness.”
Max didn’t say anything. He simply stood there, staring at his little creation, hardly daring to believe what he was hearing.
“Max! Max! This makes sense! I experience happiness when I skateboard, and that is why I want to do it again. Oh – it’s happening again right now! Can you hear the CPU whirring? My system seems to be functioning slightly differently from normal at this moment. It is a very odd sensation. It is possible that my logic pathways are malfunctioning a little. However, this is preferable to my normal state. Now I understand better why humans do activities that make them happy – I also would like to continue being happy. I understand it now! Max, I understand happiness! I am experiencing an emotion!”
By this point everyone else in the room had turned to watch Markov, who was now zipping around erratically, his volume much higher than normal. Max was sure his own logic pathways were malfunctioning too – could this really be happening?
Could a robot really be feeling emotion?
Could the robot that Max himself created really be feeling happiness, right now? Just like a real human person?
“Max?” Markov floated up in front of him, question marks in his eyes. “Are you being affected by surprise? Is that why you are silent?”
Max just grabbed Markov out of the air and hugged him. “I’m so proud of you…”
It didn’t feel real. Markov was actually experiencing emotions. It was a fundamental fact that robots could not feel emotions, one that Max had never thought to doubt, and yet here it was.
“This is a hug, correct?” Markov asked. “My CPU speeds have increased again. You are making me happy, Max!”
Max blinked tears out of his eyes, aware that everyone else was still watching. He didn’t really want to cry right now.
“You’re making me happy too,” he said.
“I am? Good! I want to make you happy. Now that I know what happiness feels like, I want everyone to feel this way all the time. I will do my best to always make people happy.”
Oh, thank goodness. People were often telling horror stories of machines gone wrong, evil robots that ended up trying to take over the world, sci-fi stories set in the future where artificial intelligence became malevolent once gaining emotions.
But Markov was not like that. If he had a heart, that heart was good. He said he was going to make people happy, and Max believed it. Markov had already made a lot of people happy. Now it was just up to him to continue, and he surely would.
“Thank you, Markov,” Max said. “You’re the greatest robot in the world.”
Alix didn’t have any particular question to ask this year either. And plus, thanks to the whole timeline thing, she was very wary of asking a question that might get a bad answer. Maybe it was just best to get this thing over with by asking something inconsequential, and letting her life be the chaotic mystery it was supposed to be.
“So, what is your question?” Fu asked.
“Is anyone ever gonna correctly guess what happened with me and Kim in that lift that one time?”
Fu frowned. “Are you s–”
“Yes, I’m sure that’s what I want to ask, no I don’t want to ask something important. I already got my fair share of that last year, thanks.”
“Well, alright, that’s understandable…” Fu put his hands on Wayzz for a few seconds. “No, it doesn’t seem like anyone will ever guess… in fact, this is quite strange, but I can’t seem to be able to tell what happened either…”
“Yes, so the blood pact worked!”
“The what?!”
“Sorry, I can’t tell you.” She stood up to leave, taking a handful of the complimentary mints from the bowl without even being prompted. “If I break the blood pact, I will die horribly. That’s just how blood pacts work.”
Fu shook his head and smiled. “You are going to be one of the most interesting pharaohs to ever rule, you know.”
“Yeah, I hope so. Thanks for the answers.” She headed towards the door, then stopped just before she opened it, remembering something. “Hey, uh, can I quickly ask you something? Not an oracle question, just something about what you told me last year.”
“Of course.”
“Well you said last year that when someone’s guardian animal dies, the person will die too not very long afterwards. And that the stronger the person’s fighting spirit is, the longer they’ll last. So I wanted to know, how long exactly are we talking here? What’s a rough estimate?”
“There isn’t much research into it, but it seems to be two to three weeks at most. Why?”
Alix grinned. “I lasted a whole eight weeks without my snake in one timeline before kicking the bucket. Guess I must be awesome, then.”
Fu smiled, bowing his head. “Yes, you certainly are.”
“Cool. Thanks, and see you later.”
Well, there was a possibility she wouldn’t see Fu later. After all, this was her last year at school! But no… she’d surely meet him again, some day. She opened the door and walked back into the waiting room to see Max standing in the middle hugging Markov, and everyone else watching with expressions that seemed close to tears.
“Uh… what did I miss?”
Markov flew out of Max’s arms and over to Alix, little stars in his eyes. “I’m experiencing happiness! A real emotion! And I like it!”
She gave him a fist bump. “Nice, dude. I knew you could do it.”
“And did you get a good answer to your question?”
“Hell yeah, I did.”
“Yay! I am even more happy now!”
Jeez, Markov was so adorable. Alix had already guessed that the little robot felt emotions, considering the way he acted half the time, but it was nice to know that it was true now. He was just as much of a friend to her as any human was.
When Kim went into the oracle room, he had made his mind up properly this time. No more overthinking. For once, he just needed to be reckless and speak without any care for the consequences. Just like how he used to be.
“So, what is your question?” Fu asked.
Kim didn’t hesitate this time. “Will I be able to go home by the end of the school year?”
“Ah, I suspected you would ask that…” Fu put his hands on his turtle for a few seconds, then sat back. “Well, the answer is both yes and no.”
“Um… what does that mean?”
“You know about the timeline splits, don’t you? Well, another one is going to happen at some point in the future. In one timeline you will be able to go home this summer, and in the other you won’t. At present it is impossible for me to tell you which one you will end up in.”
His heart was sinking faster than a stone in water – all the timeline splits he knew about so far had been bad. He was lucky to be living in a good timeline right now, because on the other side were deaths, exiles, confinements…
“It’s strange,” Fu mused. “Timeline splits that so strongly affect people are rare, and yet they have been happening with frequency. Of course, there is a superpower that I know of that allows people to have some level of control over the splitting of timelines, and can therefore affect the fates of others, but such a power is extremely rare and I do not know anyone who has it…”
Kim sat silently, listening. Was it possible that there really was someone out there messing with timelines? But why? All it did was cause suffering.
“Anyway! On that topic, I have some good news for you too.”
Good news? Oh, thank goodness, he really needed that right now…
“You have much more control over your destiny than you would think,” Fu said. “Never let my words dictate your choices or give you a sense of hopelessness. The power of friendship can always help you out when you’re in a tough spot.”
The power of friendship? Kim had to hold back a laugh. That was so cheesy.
“I mean it. Being able to think better and more rationally around someone smart, or channel all your energy into action around someone reckless? It is not merely some quirk to be overlooked. It is a sign that friendship will play a bigger role in your life than in many other people’s. Perhaps it might even change your fate. Who knows?”
Okay wait, how did Fu know all that? That Kim always felt really smart around Max for no apparent reason? Or that being around Alix made him full of energy? So, was that actually to do with superpowers after all?
“Would you like a complimentary mint on your way out?”
Oh, right. Fu was holding that bowl out at him. Kim took a few, wondering if the answer he got this year counted as good or not. All three of his oracle sessions had been somewhat bittersweet.
“Thank you,” he said, getting up to leave.
“You are very welcome. I wish you all the best for the rest of your life.”
And how long was that life going to be? He had been optimistic about things, but now he wasn’t sure anymore. Those stupid timelines seemed to still have it in for him, and who knew what was going to happen?
Well, never mind. He would just have to make the most of things.
He had barely even left the oracle room before Marinette was standing in front of him, hands on her hips, an odd smirk on her face.
“Prince Kim! I challenge you to a game of Monopoly!”
“Uh, what?”
“Sorry, that was a bit random.” Marinette giggled a little. “I just want to test out a certain new strategy of mine, and I know you like Monopoly. Is that okay?”
Kim grinned. “Of course! But no matter what strategy you’ve got, you’re gonna lose, because I’m awesome at Monopoly.”
“Is that why you lost against a snake that one time?”
“Pffff, I totally let the snake win. But I’m not gonna go so easy on you!”
“Great, that’s just what I wanted to hear! Let’s go, then!”
A Monopoly game against Marinette sounded fun – more fun than against an annoyingly smart snake, anyway. They went back to his room together and then began to play.
Usually Monopoly games were long, taking several hours, sometimes even stretching for days against particularly tough opponents. And usually you could only get so far being lucky, before running out of luck alone and having to rely on wits and actual tactics. So when Marinette managed to worm her way into getting both dark blue cards within the first five minutes, Kim chalked it up to luck and assumed that she would start failing soon, like everyone always did.
But she didn’t.
Within a few more rounds she had all three greens too. Then the oranges. Kim hoped that the chance cards would save him, but all he got was a “get out of jail free” card while Marinette ended up with bank errors in her favour giving her extra money, cards telling her to go to the next train station and buy it for herself, and to go to Go and pick up her salary.
How was she so endlessly lucky?!
By the time Kim lost, which was not very much later, his mood was very sour indeed. He tossed his remaining money at her and folded his arms.
“Congratulations, I guess… but you got lucky, so don’t take this as me being bad at Monopoly or anything…”
“You’re right, I did get lucky,” Marinette said, before stifling a yawn. “Phew, I’m exhausted…”
“Really? From what? Building so many hotels?”
“Kim, I should probably tell you something.” She looked down at the ground. “I was cheating.”
“What? But how? I was the banker and I didn’t see you stealing any money, and the dice isn’t loaded or anything–”
“Let me explain. At my oracle session just now, Fu said I can control luck. So I was using this Monopoly game to test it out. Every time I rolled the dice, I wished for luck to be in my favour, and it was. But it cost me energy every time. I think I could fall asleep in two seconds…”
Wait, Marinette had superpowers?! All Kim’s annoyance left him instantly.
“That is so cool, Mari! You can control luck? That’s the awesomest thing ever!”
She grinned, looking back up at him again. Sure enough she was much paler than she had been at the start of the game, with grey bags under her eyes now. “I’m glad you think so! But please don’t tell anyone.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep it a secret.”
“Thank you. And I’m sorry for tricking you into losing, I just really wanted to see if it worked.”
“Hey, it’s no problem. But next time you are forbidden from using your powers when we play.”
“Fair enough!”
“Are you going to tell anyone else about this?”
Marinette shrugged. “Alya, definitely. Maybe Nino. And… well, I would tell my pet cat, but I’m not sure if I’ll be seeing him these upcoming holidays…”
“What? Why not?”
She lowered her voice. “I’m not going back to Cheng again this time. It’s getting suspicious. I always used to split my time pretty evenly between Cheng and Dupain, and yet I haven’t been to Dupain in so long! I should go back there, at least this time, and make sure to keep the cat safe and beyond suspicion…”
It must have been hurting her so much to have to stay away from Adrien when he was in all that danger. Kim remembered how grateful he was to have all his friends around to support him when under threat of assassination, and how much scarier things had been at the start of summer when he was alone for once. It must be like that for poor Adrien all the time.
“It’s alright though, he’s got my parents,” Marinette said. “They’re taking good care of him. I’ll get to see him again – I just have to wait a little longer this time, that’s all.” She stood up, but quickly sat back down with her hand to her head.
“You okay?”
“Just a little dizzy, that’s all…”
“Is this because you used your powers?”
She nodded, her already pale face going slightly green. “Next time I’ll save it for emergencies…”
Kim leaned over and grabbed a pack of cookies from the draw behind him, handing them to Marinette. “I know you made these for me, but you should probably eat them now. Get your strength back up.”
She took one and took a small bite out of it. “Oh, that’s a bit better. Thank you Kim.”
“Shush, no speaking. Just keep eating.”
He made sure she had finished at least two of the cookies before allowing her to try standing up again. This time she stayed on her feet, though swaying slightly.
“I’m fine now,” she insisted.
“Are you sure? You should probably take a nap or something, you still look really tired. If you want I’ll take you to your room, or you can just nap in here if you really want, I’ll go do something else for a while and leave you some peace…”
“Yes please.” She staggered over to the bed and flopped down on it. “Sorry. I’m never using my powers that much ever again.”
Kim put the covers over her, turned off the lights, and closed the curtains. “This reminds me of that one time you dared me to eat a worm and then I got sick and you had to look after me because we were too scared to tell the servants.”
Despite almost being asleep, Marinette chuckled. “I didn’t dare you to eat a worm! I said ‘Kim, don’t eat a worm’ and then you said ‘don’t tell me what to do’ and ate a worm!”
“Well whatever, I was like 6, I was an idiot! Anyway, have a good nap. I’ll be back in a few hours. I hope you feel better soon.”
“Thanks. You’re an awesome friend.”
He smiled, then left the room and closed the door behind him. An awesome friend? Of course he was. He and Marinette had been friends since, like, forever. And now, here at school, he had plenty of other friends too. According to Fu, friendship was going to be more important in his life than for others, even enough to affect his fate – whatever that meant. How did that even work? Was it superpowers, or was it mundane? Did it matter?

Hi! I realized something the other day (I'm really slow wth) My parents have the same age as Dean, lit (I know weird but wathever) and my mum is homophobic (I'm bi, sad story lol) and she watches the show with me. The thing is that I annoy her with Destiel and she gets really angry (at some point she started disliking Cas, imagine that) and she looks for back up in my aunt for example, peolple her age. But me? My friends know that I'm bi, one confessed she thought she was too 1/2
2/2 and one of my bf ships Destiel really hard too. And it made realize of just how difficult it must be for Dean to “came out of the closet” if he is bi (I’m sure he is but till it becomes canon…) I mean, it’s not easy for me, it’s not easy right now for a lot of people but I’m positive that it’s better than before. Dean and people his age had it worse I think and it opened my mind to how much he must have struggled, how possible it was that Jhon could have hit him for that, oh too long 2/3
3/3 Bc before realizing this? I was like “Jhon beating hip up for this? no way. Maybe if he caught Dean while drunk and half out of his mind, but sober and knowing exactly what he’s doing?” And i must sound really stupid sorry, bc now it happens this too but it’s just WOW poor Dean, I wanna hug him. Also Charlie is a champion, and those married hunter couple 😢 Why do people do this (Also, if you have more idea of how it used to be, could u tell me? Correct me if I’m wrong?) bye ❤
Hey there! Sorry you’re having some trouble with your mom, here’s to hoping she’ll grown more accepting with time!
(But even if she doesn’t, remember that has nothing to do with you - she can choose whether to be tolerant and kind, while you can’t choose whether to be bi or not, so the ball is in her camp.)
As for Dean - yeah, he’s more or less my age, but he moves in a background that’s vastly different from mine - I’m sure other people (maybe @bert-and-ernie-are-gay or @mittensmorgul or @thejabberwock?) could tell you what it was like to grow up in the States around that time, and how queer people were perceived. All I can tell you is that in my corner of the world, being gay was something people expected you to keep quiet about - in my school, only one kid was out, and five other had that kind of ‘we all know but they never said anything so we pretend we don’t know and maybe we’re wrong’ status, and I know life had its ups and downs for them. Some people were really antagonistic (it was mostly boy on boy banter that was the problem, and I know that the worst time for gay kids was P.E., because here everyone is expected to shower together, so a vague ‘Tom looks sorta gay, haha’ can quickly turn into a ‘Hey why is that f*ggot staring at me now I’m naked’ and then all bets are off), and most people didn’t really care one way or the other, but still - the trouble is, you grow up in a culture where you don’t really have positive representation of any kind - gay people were either men dressing up and wearing feathers in funny movies or hospital patients dying of AIDS in sad movies - even for someone like me, who grew up in a weird household and read all kind of books, it was difficult to imagine a gay person being - a normal person, you know what I mean? Someone who’d have a relationship one day, and a house and a whatever job and would fight over whose turn it was to wash the dishes. And for kids with conservative parents, things were often much harsher, as I wrote here. Plus, even in the 1990s, AIDS was a big concern for most of us, gay or straight, so that was a problem as well - the illness was no longer perceived as a ‘gay’ illness (which it never was, by the way), but the fact we were bombarded with messages about the importance of condoms and safe sex, even as kids, played a role in our general understanding of sexuality (our own and other people’s).
For me, personally, the consequence of this climate of silence and diffidence in how we approached the matter meant that I considered my crushes on girls to be ‘just a phase’, or something like ‘I want to be like her’ rather than ‘I want to be with her’; whether this prevented me from seeking out romantic connections with women, we’ll never know, but since I’m insanely happy with the relationship I have now and am deeply in love with the man who shares my life, it’s not really a problem for me. That said, yeah, it doesn’t really surprise me to see that the more openly we discuss the subject and the more we respect what we feel, the fewer people identify as straight - in the UK, 49% of young people are not straight, and to me that’s a figure that makes perfect sense. We generally fall in love with souls, not bodies, so the more open-minded we are about such things, the more our potential to form relationships with anyone broadens. And, of course, as we’re heading into an age where AI will be a thing, it’s likely our understanding of what a suitable partner is will change a lot over the next few decades.
As for Dean Winchester - as I said, I’m not an expert, but this is a guy who grew up in a very different - and often hostile - environment. Unfortunately, the US is still a country where members of the LGBT community face significant risks - risks teen!Dean would be very familiar with, since half his job as a hunter-in-training was going through the newspapers looking for cases. For instance, in 1993, when Dean was fourteen, there was the murder of Brandon Teena, and the year before, Allen Schindler was killed - since he was a soldier on duty, it’s likely John would have discussed that sooner or later, and the wider ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ issue. And, I don’t know - I don’t see John as homophobic, exactly, but still - he would have considered his kids’ legitimate wish to form a relationship with someone an annoyance at best (I wonder if Sam or Dean ever sulked when they had to move because they’d lose touch with a crush or a girlfriend, for instance - they must have, right?) and an irrational luxury at worst (a partner can distract you or get targeted by enemies, as John knew from experience), and as for Dean being bi - objectively, men are more dangerous than women, and there is a significant risk a predator will pretend to be gay to trap you and hurt you, so I’m thinking this is the reason John would have objected to Dean’s choices, if nothing else. Furthermore, we’ve seen how conservative the hunter community is (or used to be) - I think John would have agreed with the adults I met growing up - would have said that okay, whatever - if Dean wanted to have fun with a man, who could stop him, right, but he’d better be careful and he’d better be private about it and ‘Jesus, let’s hope the kid doesn’t like it up the ass’ because, whatever, people have been having trouble with this particular thing for the past three thousand years and that’s not likely to change any time soon. So, yeah - I think there’s a good chance Dean took a long time to even understand he was attracted to men as well, and there’s a possibility that his acceptance and understanding of himself was muddled by the fact he was abused at some point, and turned tricks later in life - personally, my headcanon is that his experimenting years happened during the Stanford era, when he was mostly alone, and since then he’s not really thought about the whole thing a whole lot - partly because he’s always with Sam (and Sam can be very judgemental), and mostly because Dean’s got zero time for any of that stuff, and a lifespan to match - we know he thinks he shouldn’t have any relationships at all, for a bunch of reasons, and that honestly breaks my heart.
Poor guy. I really, really hope he’ll get his happy ending - God knows he deserves it.
