Fruits Basket 10 - 11 | Sarazanmai 10 - 11 (FINAL) | BSD 35 | Gakuen Babysitters OVA | Demon Slayer 11 | Shield Hero 23 - 24 | OPM 23 |
Fruits Basket 10
*sees Kagura* - Kyo! RUN! (Also, I had to google this…but “Je t’aime” means “I love you” in French.)
(TW: suicide discussion) Ohh…this is Mitchan…I didn’t recognise her, now that she’s coloured in. (I forgot that she had suicidal tendencies for the funnies…the 90s have some really nasty things in them when it comes to sensitive topics, like playing “being gay” as a joke and playing off suicide as a joke is one of the worst, I think.) Update: Accidentally mistook Mitchan for Mine, Ayame’s assistant.
Sarazanmai 10
So close to the end…I read a bunch of spoilers on what’s coming up though, so not much will be a surprise anymore…
Why do otters have hands…? (Or at least, this one does.)
Kanten…apparently it’s basically agar but with a different type of seaweed.
The chyron actually says Enta no Seishin Sekai, which translates to something like Enta’s Spiritual World. Y’know, like the world of the soul inside you or something like that.
I sort of assumed either Enta or Mabu would become a monster, based on people’s speculation, but the spoilers I read never stated anything about who became the monster/s in episode 10 (and/or 11). So this’ll be interesting.
I never thought Mabu would be going solo, although my sources did spoil me on the fact Reo would become a kappa.
Hey, I said to Irina earlier today that I knew there was tragic yaoi/shonen ai. Welp, there it is. Tragic shonen ai.
Oh…there’s a single shadow. It’s just Kazuki.
I was pleading for Enta to be saved by the dishes…and turns out I was right.
Update: Come to think of it, Reo and Mabu greatly resemble the Kunzite/Zoicite romance from Sailor Moon…right down to the “servants of the prince” thing.
BSD 35
Flashback Kyouka reminds me of Rachel Gardener (Angels of Death).
Pay attention to Mii-chan.
Fruits Basket 11
Ritsu!!!...Er, Ritsu’s mum first.
“I wonder if she knows about the zodiac…”
Gakuen Babysitters OVA
Oh…this is 27 minutes. That’s unusual.
I feel sorry for Saikawa already…
How the heck did Saikawa switch clothes so fast?!
Eh…? I didn’t expect Ryuichi to get the top grade…
Come to think of it, Saikawa is an enigma wrapped in a…blanket. Nah, I’m kidding, he’s an enigma wrapped in a mystery. (That’s how that saying goes, anyway.)
LOL, I think he sad the complex dish names just to confuse the kids…and maybe scare off Ryuichi.
Oh no, what is it now? What horrors shall we bear witness to? (sarcastic, but laughing a bit too)
Inomata…makes a really good Snow White.
Ya-who…? Who in heck is Yayoi???
Oh…if you watch to the very end, you’ll see a shot of the chairwoman as a kid! I didn’t think we’d ever get to see that.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 11
A tsuzumi seems to be a type of drum, if the kanji is anything to go by…at least, from my recognition of the kanji for “Tsuzumi”, I seem to recall that first kanji has something to do with drums. Update: Yes, it means “drum”. I recognised it because it’s the Chinese way to write “drum” – I don’t think I’ve seen it in 10 years or so, so...I’m glad I still remember it…(?)
As much as I don’t like seeing slapping a creep as humour…I feel sorry for Zenitsu…
It turns out…this show’s deliberate humour…sucks…
Hey! No suicide jokes, Zenitsu!
The sparrow talking with the crow is far too cute for me. Please protect these precious avian buddies…they warm my heart too much.
“Would you like to eat it?” So onigiri exist in this era?
Since I’m not listening to the sound (I’m in a position where I can’t listen to it, because others are in the vicinity), I don’t quite get what Zenitsu’s on about…but it makes me wonder if Zenitsu has good hearing much like Tanjiro has a good sense of smell. It makes sense since there were 5 of the Final Selection guys…although we don’t know who the 5th is.
*sees eyecatch* - Yeah, as much as Zenitsu complains…I feel sorry for him.
How did Zenitsu survive Final Selection??? The more he panics, the more I wonder that.
There’s a 3D model for Zenitsu too…I should’ve known…
Ooh, pep talk from a kid younger than him (Zenitsu)! Burn!
Okay, Zenitsu, yell it with me – BOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! (aka Inosuke)
Hey! Don’t just go announcing your name and rank, plus the fact you’re a demon slayer!...By the way, how do you know your rank…?
Aw, just seeing the sparrow in the bottom right corner warms my heart.
“…in front of girls…”
Shield Hero 23
“I forgot that my shield translates for me.” – Only now do I realise how dumb that sounds…
“…small islands bunched together.” – Uh, that’s what archipelago means…?
Where are L’Arc and Therese, anyway…?
The quality of CR videos has been bad lately due to the weather I’ve been getting, so…I was waiting for the video to buffer and I guessed Raphtalia was going to get drunk. She did…*sigh*
Since when does eating wine berries count as “drinking”…?
LOL, those weird birds are called “Karma Penguins”.
I thought Filo’s clothes would tear when she transformed, so making clothes was futile…? Maybe she has more control over her transformation now, so it’s less futile?
Wuh? Gahaha! A penguin suit, with a Santa hat too!
OPM 23 (S2 Ep 10)
King’s shirt says “I <3 Otaku” and I like how Saitama chose a bald character, while King chose a character that looks nicer than Saitama’s but packs a punch. It’s translating the real world into the game world for them.
By the way, Saitama’s shirt is for the Tokimeki Sisters series from earlier in the season.
It seems Metal Bat‘s real name seems to be just that.
Did Tareo keep the Almanac…in his pants???
Sarazanmai 11 (FINAL)
When Keppi says “s***”, I guess he kind of…means it. (small LOL)
Gotta love Keppi’s “dadadadadadaaaaaaaaaaarkness…”. It must’ve been fun for whoever typed it into their program to do so.
When watching in slow-mo, you can see Kazuki’s kappa dish jump off his head for a second.
Wait, so…the episode titles are all taken from their shared future…?! Oh my glob!!!
Kazuki, Enta and Toi’s pro game – brought to you by Asakusa Film, Sozoyu and KAPPA…LOL.
I never knew Sara’s princess outfit could be so…lewd.
Kapamilk, LOL.
Why is this ending only Toi…?
Hmm…is Toi 18 in this end scene???
“Quecrotte” doesn’t seem to mean anything…
How did Enta’s glasses not come off his face???
Aww…please protect this old Toi. He kind of looks like Chikai, but he also doesn’t.
There seems to be a Nakata Building in Asakusa.
I think that’s all folks. See you next time!
Shield Hero 24
Instead of romantic penguin suits, couldn’t someone have invented deep-sea magic for swimming in bikinis or trunks with…?
“Of course, even the ships were arranged for by the queen.” – Now that’s ballin’ on a budget in another world!
Oh, so cohol fruits are the names of the wine berries…
This is just a scene where the camera shakes…it looks nice, but it has a terrible sense of “action”…
Not this Skybound move again…
Not dis “they’re not the real Cardinal Heroes” shitto agen…
I already knew from CR advertising L’Arc and Therese would become Naofumi’s enemies, I just didn’t know when.
Uh, L’Arc? She’s a raccoon girl. A tanuki??? She should be good with illusions…according to stereotype, anyway.
AOE seems to mean “area of effect”.
Is Glass a hero from another world as well, maybe???

One Punch Man 13 (S2 Ep 1) | Afterlost 1 | RobiHachi 1 | Kimetsu no Yaiba 2 - 3 | BSD 25 - 26 (S3 Eps 1 - 2) | King of Prism - Shiny 7 Stars 1 | Shield Hero 14 - 16 | Double Decker! EX 3 | Sarazanmai 2
The shows that have made it this season will be getting their tags...soon. Because I fell behind early in the season, trying to read ahead is nastier than it really should be...
Update: I forgot to roll out the tags...! Sorry about that.
One Punch Man 2 1
This season’s name…sounds counterintuitive, to say the least.
I love how Genos is carrying a box of hijiki (which looks like hair) and Saitama’s wearing a shirt that says “hair” (in kanji) all over it. It’s funny for a bald man and his “work of modern art”.
I never knew Genos was so blunt. Maybe because the last season was a good 2 – 3 years ago…and was by Madhouse and Shingo Natsume, and so this feels slightly different.
Oh, Sonic…! I didn’t realise how much I missed you! (Not to mention, you look hot with the off-the-shoulder shirt, y’know?)
“Enoki” is a type of mushroom.
Oh, Garou!...Oh wait, there isn’t much more of the episode left, is there…?
Afterlost 1
Oh great…this is the second time the subs don’t work on my device of choice. Then again, it seems to be a problem with the ad blocker and not the video…Okay, fiddling with the ad blocker worked.
Let’s play Spot the Main Character Amongst All the CGI Guys! Yay! (obviously sarcastic)
Without the volume…this OP is, to not put it lightly, s***.
Shoumetsu means “extinction”, not “lost”.
And the reward for Jankiest CGI this season belongs to…
Okay…this is stupid…if it f**ks up even more, I’m out of here!
I know the horned owl is your mascot, but that doesn’t mean you needed a real owl.
Waittttttttt…how did the scientists know Yuki’s father was responsible for this stuff anyway?
I feel like Takuya was shoehorned in. I mean, there’s a better example of this character type in Naofumi (Shield Hero).
This guy’s name, as we know it, is Geek. Wow (sarcastic). Also, I find it funny Takuya has a “ta” on his licence plate.
“…she’s just a package.” - Welp, you don’t get any more blatant than that for female denigration! I think Anime Feminist had a field day with this one.
Come to think of it, I saw some helmets back at Geek’s place but Takuya never seems to use one…
You had one job, Takuya…*sigh*
I swear I said a few previews ago I don’t like 1st person cam…no one ever listens to me, do they???
Not dis shitto agen!
Okay, enough complaining. It seems Yu-no wasn’t bad enough, so they had to produce something like the Chaos Dragon and Seisen Cerberus of old…
RobiHachi 1
It’s Takamatsu being Takamatsu again. Also… I forgot to mention this earlier, but…Taiga Umatani seems to be related to Kurari Umatani (who is credited for Boueibu), so…I wonder if it’s a collective writer’s name for Studio Comet, like Izumi Todo for Toei? The only thing that goes against that is the fact “Kurari” existed during the Diomedea days of Boueibu. Also Isekandar seems to be related to Yamato’s Iscandar (which Takamatsu seems to like, based on the fact he once used Matsumoto metres as a shorthand for being in space). If you don’t understand, Yamato’s endgoal contains a place called Iscandar and that’s by Leiji Matsumoto.
Okayyyyy…what are these rabbit creatures…? But yes, it does smack of Boueibu simply because the episode layout’s the same.
Hmm…? So Robby seems be En (the do-nothing life) in spirit, but Kinshiro in background, but also he runs away from his fortune. “Hmm” indeed.
Oh! That’s what this string of misfortunes reminds me of! The monsters of the day from Boueibu.
Acrymalide.
Hatchi is a Kinshiro in looks but an Atsushi by being a goody-goody.
Hmm…they actually bother to show girls now…apparently Takamatsu went to a boys-only school, which is why his original works focus on dudes (as in, you can pick out when Takamatsu is adapting someone else’s work because it has a heavier focus on girls as supporting characters).
Mechs and spaceships are probably two of the only ways I accept CGI…and you, Takamatsu sir, have just done it (the latter)!
Aw! Lookit his (Hatchi’s) face light up like a Beppu’s! It’s cute!
Hatchi getting out the hatch…lame, but still somewhat effectve on me (because that’s my wordplay game you’re playing, Takamatsu…!).
LOL, it’s a transforming mech. It seems my words from a few comments earlier were basically foretelling the future.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 2
Yikes, “Sakonji Urokodaki” has a lot of strokes…
My Little Sister Lives For Headpats…hey wait, don’t all anime kid sisters do that(?)
For some reason, I know the “Don’t Lose Your Way” meme from Kill la Kill and yet I’ve never…watched KlK…?(!)
I swore that was Giyu (it’s the haircut, I swear), but it’s a random demon…
When all you have is a hatchet…use your head. (LOL)
Ooh, nice eyecatch!
This is really black comedy, in a sense. (I remember this demon fight from the manga which is why I say that.)
Hmm…this wispy stuff wasn’t in the manga.
Come to think of it, I don’t know how Tanjiro got his scar…
If you squint really hard, you can see CGI Urokodaki and Tanjiro…
He probably has no footsteps because of his shoes. Or the fact he’s a ninja. Were there ninja in the Taisho era…? Update: Tanjiro has the same kind of shoes…oops.
Come to think of it, Daisuke from DN Angel had to dodge traps every day before he became Dark…(thinking of this because I reread the first volume of DN Angel recently)
Oh! Manga panel preview! That’s quite fun, really.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 3
I just really like how Tanjiro’s eyes grew larger with what was clearly resolution before he closed the door.
Why do the non-descript hunters look like Giyu too…?
I’ve never seen KnY so comedic…and that’s coming from someone who thought the Head Demon fight from last episode was funny.
Welp, this is…kinda interesting (<- says a fan of Touken Ranbu).
This letter writing…it reminds me of Kekkai Sensen somewhat.
This realistic water…it’s beautiful, but it looks like it came straight out of Niagara Falls. Is that…too realistic for anime?
“No matter…”
It’s a fox version of Speed of Sound Sonic! Then again, the real Sonic is around this season and probably won’t be happy about that comparison…
Is “that guy”…Giyu? Or the demon who slaughtered Tanjiro’s family?
Spider lilies! I didn’t mention it last time, but the symbolism of the spider lily makes the ED real cool.
Bungou Stray Dogs 26
I’v read the wiki page for Chuuya enough to know the next few eps involve the LN Fifteen, so even though I haven’t read a translation of the source material, I know some of the ins and outs of it already.
Ooh! Kitty! (If you’re a manga reader, you’ll know the cat’s significance.)
I think at this point in time, all viewers are used to Dazai’s bulls*** by now.
Is it just me…or did Bones use CGI for the city? It actually looks kind of good…! Sasuga Bones!
I have a fic that predates Fifteen and could be set in the same period (the fic’s vague enough that it could’ve been them at 15, 18 or even 12)…and basically the only thing I got wrong was the fact Chuuya doesn’t have his hat (because I wrote Chuuya as having his hat in the fic). Also, the banter is tenser than I imagined it, but that’s subjective and something only I, the fic writer, can compare.
I wonder who the yellow-tinted Ability holder is…? Update: That’s Randou. Spoke too soon.
There was a box in the subs…I wonder what symbol that might’ve been.
“…closest to the explosion.”
BSD 3 2
Oh, so that’s what Randou was for! I see now.
Chuuya may be OP, but he’s one heck of a fun character…also, he’s not as OP as Saitama, so…yeah.
Oh, the ED from last time is the OP. I should’ve known.
I like the almost storybook-style of this episode!
I thought Dazai was faking releasing the hostages…I was wrong.
Face-stealing aliens return! (They were around last ep too, I think, but they were harder to see then.)
Again, watch for the cat!
Well, with only one suspect (or 3, if you count the Sheep kids), it was quite easy to figure out one of them was behind it. I kind of suspected Randou, anyway, considering what I’ve learnt from all the mysteries I’ve read.
Because I was watching this episode with the volume down low (so I could hear the OP and ED), the volume really did work wonders for the plot this ep…!
King of Prism – Shiny 7 Stars 1
This is the final debut of the season, so basically how this and Shield Hero perform will decide what will stay and what will go. Oh, yeah…apparently this is the companion to a movie, but the movie and TV series have slightly different content.
This dude’s (the one at the very start’s) so grumpy.
…welp, I didn’t expect it to be that much CGI.
This chunk of exposition…makes me feel like I missed something. It was probably in the previous movies, come to think of it…
Basically, this is…uh, Makura no Danshi or Room Mate all over again??? I’m noping out of here…! Bye!
Shield Hero 14
I’m putting this on the chopping block…just so you know.
…uh, age gap romance? It’s hard to tell at this stage, but they (Filo and Melty) sure act like it is romance.
Welp, this survived the chopping block. “Raphtalia backstory” is a good enough reason to stick around for, isn’t it?
Double Decker! EX 3 (FINAL)
I always miss the OP when I’m not watching Double Decker, but I miss the ED even more…
I can’t believe they tried to get away with a Spirited Away parody…!
I can’t believe I get to see Dr Apple all buttered up like this…
I love how Kirill is censoring himself. (At least he can prove he’s not a girl, unlike Valery/Milla, whose entire shtick is the confusion between genders.)
Oh! I think I know the answer to the case already! It was Kirill’s soap, so Doug is the “killer”. But then…why is it Derick, of all people???
LOL, the angles were so reminiscent of Detective Conan…
Underwear-stealing sextuplets…? Why does that kind of sound like Osomatsu-san…?
Ahh…I really am going to miss this ED. See you next time!
Shield Hero 15
I never thought Raphtalia would be so angry…that’s Naofumi’s job.
Okay…it’s the age-old question: do demis listen with their animal ears or their human ears? Do they even have human ears??? (That’s 2 questions, isn’t it…?)
Uh…CGI dinosaur, much?
Shield Hero 16
…and of course, the Queen is a loli. Of course (<-sarcastic).
“Why’d I even have to feed this KFC farm?” – LOL, but I wonder what it sounded like in Japanese…? (i.e. I didn’t listen to it and when I try to do that, there’s always something over the top of it…)
Sarazanmai 2
I wonder if I’ll ever get used to watching Ikuhara on a weekly basis…?
Kappamaki…geddit?
Wait…y’mean, Keppi’s breath smells like cucumbers? Uh…okay, TMI.
Enta’s Japanese house kind of looks like the one in Mawaru Penguindrum.
Wait…why does the Japanese word for “Fish Buffet” (Osakanazanmai) end in –zanmai? Does that mean Sarazanmai is…Dish Buffet?! (LOL)
Notably, one of the signs said “Union” in katakana. It must be an English play on words…y’know, trade union and union = connecting with each other? I’m surprisingly enjoying myself a lot with Sarazanmai, by the way. I didn’t think I would, but I am!
I think that might be Irohassu water. Or Dasani. I saw both those brands in Japan, but I don’t remember which had the green flowers.
Oh…my goodness! Nekoyama (Cat Mountain) Mokichi (written with kanji for “hair” and “luck”). It’s a Boueibu monster! Frick, I’m laughing too hard!
It’s very small and very thin, but the word next to the cat in the eyecatch is neko.
“…Meow God!” – It’s a pun on “Oh, My God!” but with a “meow” in it. It’s pretty forced, but it does get the nuance of the joke across…
Why the heck did the subbers choose “herb” as the word for weed in this? “Weed” is sufficient, right? Right…?
Well…if that spurt of water wasn’t symbolic…I don’t know what is.
The title translates better as “…but I want to steal”. Y’know, add a little force into it.
The two As and the “sara” below it seem to make a zombie face, huh?
Ooh, that ending…

Sarazanmai 3 - 6 | Fruits Basket 2 - 7 | OPM 2 2 - 7 | BSD 3 3 - 6 | Demon Slayer 4 - 7 | Shield Hero 17 - 20
I’ll be rolling out the tags around about the time of this post.
Sarazanmai 3
Kisu = kissu (kiss). Update: Or kisu (on the right side of my equation). You do you, subbers.
Goma-ae.
Gomennassara! (Oh, I get it…!)
It never occurred to me that a “micanga” was a bead or small pierced round object of some sort. I thought it was a race track sort of thing, but for soccer. Update: It’s a bracelet/anklet thing.
Wait, so what brought on this change of heart from Kazuki??? Is it like the 1st episode, where it was a daydream that was cleverly presented as real? Update: Yep.
Oh…have you noticed all the victims of Reo and Mabu’s scheme are men of the NEET/freeter age, or approaching that?
Notably, the signature pose of the Sarazanmai seems to be similar to the one Kazuki and Enta did in the soccer team.
I find it interesting that Enta is now the initiator of the Sarazanmai and thus the one to steal the shirikodama. I mean, he used to be the one with the least stakes in the Dish of Hope scenario…and now look at him!
Ooh, Toi is sharpening his ruler! (Or whatever you do in Touken Ranbu with that lil’ beater of his.)
Oh wait, I forgot Ikuhara always has a last-minute twist! Go back, go back!
It seems like Haruka has some kind of illness…hmm. Update: Oh, it’s not an illness per se…spoke too soon.
Haruka’s talking about the Little Prince…hmm. Last time I really bothered to engage with that story in any form was Star Driver.
Fruits Basket 2
I don’t think I ever really chose a side on the Kyo vs Yuki debate, but I guess I always subtly sided with Yuki (even though the end pairing is Tohru and *bleep*). <- sorry, had to censor myself
“It’s important for me to get to school every day!”
Kabedon! Eeeeee! (LOL, I really am a squealy person at heart, aren’t I?)
The writing says “she misheard [what Yuki said] as ‘being sick’”, so it was quite lucky that the word “sickened” worked in context.
Yuki has some mad ninja skills…LOL.
Shigure in a suit looks goooooooooood, man (<- gender neutral use of “man”).
“…the days ahead will be fun.” – Oh, Tohru, you don’t know how wrong you are…(says someone who completed the manga)
Fruits Basket 3
I’m hearing the OP for the first time…and it sounds like an ED. (Probably because I read some impressions that said the same thing earlier today.)
“…included in the zodiac?”
Ooh! Momiji! Wait, er…I didn’t expect him to be so high-pitched…
Lookit the tiny cat icon on the side! It’s cute!!!
*yells* It’s Kagura!!!!!!!! She ain’t my favourite, but man, is it great to see another familiar face!
I’ve been wondering what the title meant when it said “what year is she?” It means “year of the zodiac”.
Fruits Basket 4
“Shii-chan”…?
Kyo-kun ran away before Kagura even started making dinner…
Was Kyo’s katsudon a joke…? (Cats-udon, geddit?...No?)
“…marriage is a girl’s greatest dream.” – That used to be so, Tohru…nowadays, it ain’t.
Lookit how Kyo’s eyes lit up when he talks about his teacher!
OPM 2 2
That title’s…even more counterintuitive than “OPM 2 1”…hmm.
It’s…kind of dark right now.
I think there was bourbon on the counter. Someone likes to drink around here…
I guess with the mass animation exodus, OPM seems kinda…monologue-y. And cheap…
…nope, I take back my words. They were merely saving up for this action scene.
BSD 28 (S3 Ep 3)
Seriously, what are those metal things Dazai was wearing? Anyways, I like how it’s absolutely the norm that Chuuya swears now and I was part of forming that. Because I don’t swear a lot, I think Chuuya makes a nice outlet for my own frustrations...that’s what could be said, anyway.
D’aww. Someone acknowledges Chuuya’s identity. Ain’t that grand? (Now you see why I like Chuuya more than Dazai these days, huh?)
Come to think of it…a person hasn’t died in this show for a while, have they? It just goes to show you that despite one of its major stars being a guy obsessed with shinjuu (double suicide), the creators seem to be emphasising the sanctity of life itself.
Oh, I never thought they had an explanation for Dazai’s coat…
What is the age difference between Chuuya and Dazai anyway??? They’re both 15 during the LN that’s called that, but the exact difference…what is it? Update: Dazai’s birthday is June 19th and Chuuya’s is April 29th, so the difference is 1 month and 21 days (using the idea that 7 days = a week and May is 30 days, that’s 51 days in all).
Ooh, we’re getting Fyodor, Ace and the unnamed kid soon, aren’t we? That also means we’re in unknown territory for myself, too…hmm.
OPM 2 3
When did Saitama last meet Charanko anyway? Charanko is voiced by Toshiki Masuda, so I would’ve kept an eye out for him, but the art shift and the years between seasons mean I don’t remember anymore.
Oof, “justice crashed Mumen Rider’s head” is more like it.
CGI banana…Just saying “CGI banana” is funny.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 4
Headpats, headpats all around!
Hooo…boy. I already knew Sabito and Makomo were dead because Crow and Irina’s collab post was called “The Names of Dead Children”, but how it was delivered…was such a powerful move.
I saw the blonde boy who’s in the OP…hmm. Update: His name is Zenitsu, according to the next-ep preview.
OPM 2 4
When comparing this dissection of monsters against Mob Psycho…the biggest monster Mob has is himself…hmm.
I didn’t expect Saitama to actually enter under Charanko’s name with that wig he got…
“…name as a martial artist.”
Mojo for the dojo, it seems this man wants.
I think the centipede senpai is CGI. Hmm…
It’s been years…I’ve forgotten what Ponytail Head’s name is! (And I call OPM one of my favourite series in anime…!)
Sarazanmai 4
“Writers exist between life and death.” – …is Ikuhara expressing his own thoughts on how anime writers are treated…?
I anticipate a soba pun (soba = noodles and soba = beside [someone]).
“…gives a s***…” – Says you, Toi, with the “Golden Poop” in the background. Then again, that’s just an English pun. Don’t mind me.
Comic Sans…you can’t escape it, even in this day and age…
Yude = to boil, soba…is the noodles. (The “o” on the end of the Monster of the Week’s first name means “man”.) Ikuhara uses Monster of the Week names in service of symbolism, while Takamatsu uses inconsistency for the sake of humour.
Intetestingly, there’s a spiralling blue thing in the background of the dance number and it says “soba” (katakana) and “desire” (yokubou, in kanji).
The headline translates to “Tragedy! It was next to me, but then…” (Kigeki! Sakki made soba ni ita noni…) The subbers had to accommodate the soba pun though, so they went with “so bar away”.
Hmm…now Toi takes centre stage…
2007, huh? How old are Kazuki and co. again?
This is probably the least surprising secret of all, y’know. Also, I think Keppi and Kazuki have cucumbers in their mouths.
They have subs for Stand By Me now!!! Oh mai globbb!
W-Wuh?! I can see why he’d hate Haruka (feelings of “why don’t my parents look at me the way they look at him anymore?”), but…this really turns this entire story on its head!
Kimetsu no Yaiba 5
Interestingly, the “My” in the episode title is Onore (an “I” indicating professionalism).Come to think of it…what is Tanjiro’s pronoun of choice?
Aww…the fact Tanjiro kinda looks like the demon’s (previous body’s…?) bro made the scene kinda cute. Possibly, it could be even enough to drive someone to tears…not that I was driven to tears, of course.
Well, here’s Zenitsu.
This angry kid reminds me of Mike Teevee (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). He seems like a rival, but he’ll disappear soon enough. Also, LOL, a sparrow instead of a crow.
“…my whole body hurts.” – Welp, that’s what happens when you lose sleep fighting demons for 7 days straight…
Why the obvious names? (re: Haganezuka – that is, hagane means “steel”…also, Nichirin contains the character for “sun” (at least, I think so…?) and Yoko can be understood to be/homophonous to the word for “sunlight”)
Tanjiro, son of Tanjuro…LOL. That was probably deliberate – it means the first son follows in the father’s footsteps.
For some reason, I wanted Haganezuka to pop out of the comic for the next-ep preview…aww.
Shield Hero 17
How many times did Fitoria say “I’m going to kill the heroes” and Naofumi say variants of “no”? Because of that, I had half a mind to jump ship and head to RobiHachi instead…but keep going.
That cowlick stuff was probably the most fun I’ve had with this show in a while…heh.
Oh great…Naofumi expanded his pseudo-harem to two bird waifus…then again, I had a stupid grin on my face seeing Fitoria’s old master, so maybe it’s not all bad, y’know?
Post-credits scene…keep watching!
Wah-wait…what the heck was that explosion???!!!
BSD 29 (S3 Ep 4)
That’s…Topaz (unofficial name)…ohhhhhhhh dear…
Oooh, Katai! Katai! Yay!!! (As you can tell, I had a very small thing for Katai. He reminds me of En-chan, y’see.)
The CGI in this OP…you can tell there’s quite a bit of it, huh?
It’s Deadmau5 (as the fandom used to joke)!
Fyodor’s eyes of disgust as Topaz dries his hair…hmm.
Older Topaz looks surprisingly like Oda…I don’t remember that exact shot, but it might’ve been in the manga. His background also reminds me of Chuuya’s.
OPM 2 Ep 4 (OPM 18)
“Irksome insect”…says the giant insect.
I think I saw a 7-11 pastiche in the background.
Why does the bird have a human hand in his belly? What??? (LOL)
This tournament arc don’t feel so hype, now that MHA’s is over…
Someone likes Donkey Kong… (referring to Marshal Gorilla and the other Kong guy (Heavy Kong))
Sarazanmai 5
…oh wow. Y’mean Kazuki is adopted???
“Why don’t you say anything, even though you know about me now?” (from Toi) – Probably because Kazuki is as f***ed up as you are, if not worse.
What are those sparkles coming off Sara’s face…? Not sure if they’re a shoujo thing or just…gratuitous sparkles.
LOL, Nioino Fukuro. Basically “pouch of scent” when you insert a space between the second I and the second N and change the first name kanji, plus change the “no” to hiragana.
I know the title of the song is Kawausoiya (translates to “awful otters” or something like that), but “soiya” doesn’t make much sense on its lonesome.
Wait…does that mean Sara is the creature? Or there are two Saras that can look the same, but one looks like the human and one is more kappa-like???
For some reason, I’m getting changeling vibes here…that Kazuki wants to look different to the rest of his family because he knows he’s different.
Hey…there’s this thing called the tourist gaze. It argues that because people create notions of reality differently, people have different ideas of what makes a trip “good” and “authentic”. In the same sense, Haruka’s “false” connection with Kazuki!Sara has become his reality, so it’s not wrong to say this Sara is real for him.
Oh…I just realised some kanji that appar early in the OP are the kanji for “extraction”.
So, uh…in a sense…can I interpret Kazuki’s love for his real mother a Fruedian thing? It seems all men’s love can be interpreted to be Freudian in some way or another…also, Sara kind of looks like his mother in a very “surface” kind of way. That is, they have a very passing resemblance to each other. Update: I’ve been reading some Stephen King lately and if I took anything away from that experience, it would be that everything is Freudian when it comes to men’s experiences. That’s why I say that.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 6
…*remembers something from the collab that was along the lines of “Astral doesn’t like Tanjiro’s green jacket”* Astral’s not gonna like this, then. (For those who don’t know the context, “Astral” is AstralGemini of the Zodiac Room.)
*Tanjiro is told he might not go very far with his demon slaying* *Tanjiro reacts with happiness that he’s on his way to get Nezuko human again* - Uh…I know I’ve watched my share of shonen, but I kind of didn’t expect that and yet also did.
Ugh…it’s the return of CGI Tanjiro…the vegie patch looks good in CGI though, for some reason.
Lemme guess…with a title like that (Swordsman Accompanying a Demon), could it be that Kazumi is a demon???
“I don’t get it at all.” – LOL…that was unintentionally funny (for the second time in this show, the first being Hand Demon).
BSD 30 (S3 Ep 5)
Moby Dick crashing into Yokohama? It was literally years ago for us!
I’m pretty sure these Park guys didn’t exist in the manga. Update: Nope, they did. I’ve read the corresponding chapter, it’s just that that was also 2 years ago…just like the last we saw of the anime.
I love how the “gyaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” ended in blood splatter, literally.
The Park guys apparently come from ch. 44 but Katai comes from ch. forty…what? One? Two? It’s not 40 (Hitori Ayumu), that’s all I know.
Katai is a good boy. You’ll see why in…oh, a few seconds.
Oh, I love the ending of this story. I already know the ending, but seeing it again will be a whole new bag of laughs!
Uh…I forgot how much of an interruption the anime’s humour is. My dream of a “whole new bag of laughs” is at least half dashed…*shoulders slump*
Apparently Atsushi cut his hair himself…not sure if that’ll be a spoiler for later, but it’s still something cool to know.
“So it’s your letter?”
Katai is basically me when it comes to my husbandos. See why I love him???
Come to think of it…I haven’t properly listened to the ED yet! Better do that while I still have the chance.
Fruits Basket 5
Shigure is such a troll…just like I remember him.
Fruits Basket 6
Hatori! Ooh! He’s hottttttt! Sizzling!...Okay, I think you get my point already…
I think someone else (Amelia from A Girl and Her Anime…?) pointed this out…but I don’t understand a speck of German outside 1 – 10 (I remembered the German word for “six” way too well when I was younger). So it would help if they bothered to make the German English as well.
For some reason, the stick figure was both obviously a cost-cutting measure and also elevated the hilarity of that scene…!
I don’t quite know what the Japanese equivalent of the “macaroni and cheese” thing was, but it conveys the same idea in the two languages and makes people laugh along the way, so…*shrugs shoulders* Makes sense, I guess.
Tohru is kandou about meeting an author. Kandou means to be deeply moved (noun form).
LOL, Hanajima reading the book.
…Oh my goodness. I just realised Fruits Basket has a lot of characters with fringes. 90s fringes for everyone!
“…a cartoon about a cat and a rat that are always fighting…” - Come to think of it, Tom and Jerry is popular in Japan.
Shield Hero 18
I think this episode title ends in inbou, which means “intrigue”.
This show is clearly trying to play the same cards over and over again…
Shield Hero 19
Hypocrites! Hypocrites everywhere! *does Buzz Lightyear hand gesture from the meme*
OPM 19 (S2 Ep 6)
The reason the fat guy is called Dave is not just because of B/V confusion, but because debu (without the line in the middle) is a slang word for…wait for it…”fatty”.
Interestingly, Murata previously worked on a oneshot called Gokiburi Buster. I wonder if this Cockroach Boi is from there…?
Did you notice the guys behind the umpire, who had a stretcher at the ready…?
“Mr Saynuthin” seems to be “Nanmoien-san” in Japanese.
“Waganma” seems to be a play on wagamama, or selfish. However, I can’t pin down the pun in the father’s name...
Well, well, well…at least someone acknowledges Speed of Sound Sanic (the ninja, not the CGI abomination or the monkey) is hecka-speedy.
Charanko (the real one)…he has ashi no ura (the back of the foot) written on his bandages…LOL.
Sarazanmai 6
Apparently Kazuki’s (foster) family all wear the same kind of stripes…which is what Kazuki means when he doesn’t want to wear the same kind of clothes as his family.
Okay…so the first set of kanji that appear in the OP are the one for “desire” and the ones after that are “extraction”…geddit? (LOL)
Oh my glob…how in the name of Iyami does Osomatsu-san get so popular that after I watched the first season of that show, it starts appearing in other places as well????
I saw a translation of the Reo and Mabu tweets and apparently at least one of them can make ningyoyaki (a type of cake you can make in all sorts of shapes – scroll down a bit on that page and you’ll find the description of ningyoyaki there).
Uhh…ghh…Keppi pole dancing was disturbing…*soul floats out of body temporarily*
Reo (I think that’s Reo, at least) has ningyoyaki…Update: Yup, that’s Reo.
“Headdress”, huh?
Why does this episode 6 feel like ending material…?
Wait…you’re saying Reo and Mabu are princes of the otter kingdom??? Wuh???
BSD 31 (S3 Ep 6)
(Lucy blushes) Wow…now there’s an option for a het ship right there…not that anyone will take it.
I saw a GIF of Atsushi floating naked and face down in the water (because Irina), but…I forgot exactly how the scenario before it went, so I LOLled.
Oh yeah…this chapter had a tie-in with Mizuki Tsujimura, because Mizuki knew Kyoka’s mother. Also, it shows you can inherit Abilities…
It’s Truck-kun and the curse of the isekai!...Okay, I’m kidding.
Oh yeah…this is the chapter about the Headmaster…
I haven’t been in a good place mentally for the past few years or so, due to my world basically fragmenting around me, so the words “don’t hate yourself” are strong ones coming from a place both nostalgic and new.
Dazai inherits a particularly interesting space in Atsushi’s life. He’s like a brother and father wrapped up into one (Kunikida is the nagging mother in that analogy, LOL), but also obsessed with suicide to the point he can also be a liability.
“…didn’t tell anyone…”
It’s also interesting to compare Tohru (of Fruits Basket) and Atsushi. They’re both selfless, but Tohru’s selflessness is shown to be a double-edged sword while Atsushi’s gives him a lot of resentment but is overall a positive thing.
Aww…seeing Atsushi slowly tear up almost made me tear up too…
Fitzgerald Rising…that’s the name of the chapter where…oh, sorry. It’s been years, so I’ll let it all play out for you and me again without mentioning any spoilers until they happen in (close to) real time in the show, okay?
Fruits Basket 7
This is the first time there’s been English lyrics on the OP for this show…I think.
Who’s this “he” Tohru’s referring to when examining the woman’s picture? Akito, probably, but I’m not 100% sure…Update: It was Hatori, actually.
“Shii-san”, “Haa-san” etc. is…cute. *cue “O kawaii koto…” from Kaguya-sama*
I get the feeling that Shigure is almost like a prototype Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs). Or they just have a lot in common.
“Are these my just desserts?”
Demon Slayer 7
Nezuko’s playing whack a mol-er, demon, isn’t she??? (LOL)
Whoa…it must be mighty freaky to be floating in a swamp of dead people’s possessions…
Welp, Tanjiro…that’s one way to say “hands off my sister”. *nods* By cutting the demon’s hands off…
I like the contrast between Tanjiro’s callused hands and Kazumi’s smooth ones.
Hey…why does food always get wasted in movies and other media…? I know I’m applying real-life consumption habits to media, but it always looks quite wasteful, y’know…?
OPM 20 (S2 Ep 7)
I never noticed that shot of Watchdog Man in the OP before…huh.
Pig God’s shirt says DEV. It’s a pun on debu (fatty)…again.
Ooh! I saw him in the OP! Flashy Flash! I’ve never seen him in action outside the OP before, but I know his name and appearance from reading around.
“You all are the strongest swordsmen we have.”
Seriously, Saitama, just get something to stick the wig on and you wouldn’t have gotten into this mess. Maybe superglue…(okay, I’m kidding about the superglue).
OPM got really childish this time…

Shield Hero 20
Motoyasu getting dragged by Filo was funny…not enough to get a proper laugh though. Just a smirk or two.
Stop narrating and just get on with it, Naofumi and friends…!
“I was saying we should fight together all along.” (from Itsuki) – Were you, now…? (skeptical)
Ass-pull! I call “ass-pull” at the power to swallow the phoenix flame! Seriously, when did the dragon get the opportunity to teach Naofumi how to do that???
How did Naofumi not die after losing so much blood…?
What does the Q even stand for in the queen’s name…?
Sarazanmai 7
The seagulls…so fluffy…
For some reason, I expect a fakeout, but then it never arrives…these boys are really connecting…
I found some kappa croquette thingy online, but it referred to a “Shiki City” which probably isn’t in Asakusa…
The shirt…Kazuki’s shirt says “frog” but I get the feeling it also means “return”.
Shirohasu water. It’s Irohasu in Japan.
Was the lyric to Kawausoiya (the otter song) “gonna take ‘em”…?
Nice ET reference, Sara.
Balls…not just sport entendre, but…y’know. The sort of humour I don’t like as much.
Ooh…Keppi is shaping up to be the bad guy. But what plans does he have? Am I speculating too much and is he being framed? Hard to know until next time…
BSD 32
When Kyouka is eating the sundae, she looks like the Tofu Kyouka from Mayoi…hmm.
Can I confess something? Before I saw the illustrations for s2, I thought Louisa’s hair was much darker than what it is in the anime…hmmm, indeed.
I don’t think we were ever told (in the manga or the anime) what Louisa’s wish was…
This bit with Fyodor…I don’t think it was in the manga.
Subarashi-sou is a pun on “it seems wonderful”. That wasn’t in the manga, but it’s a great pun (because it’s right up my alley).
Fitz laughing at the neighbour’s TV wasn’t in the manga either, but that’s just the anime director’s humour peeking through.
“Blalack Daniel’s”, LOL.
Ohh…a quick Google reveals TJ Eckleberg is from the Great Gatsby. In there, he’s an eye doctor, but here, he’s an engineer.
George B Wilson is also from the Great Gatsby…Here be spoilers, but…George dies in his original work too.
Manhasset is a place in New York…I assume it’s connected to the Great Gatsby as well…
Oh yeah! Random Poe moment. That’s in the manga, so Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for the terrible humour) doesn’t have to fake that bit.
Cue “Objection!” by Fitz, lemme guess. Even if I know the outcome and how it was done, I’d like to have my memory refreshed (by stabbing in the dark…and making an Ace Attorney joke in the process).
I already know, without googling, that Tom Buchanan is part of Great Gatsby as well…
Bank of Amerigo…LOL.
Fruits Basket 8
“If you show up for the banquet now…”
“The banquet sounds just like the folk tale!” Honestly, subbers, proofread…
Haa-kun and Haa-san. No distinguishing between them (aside from honorifics), even though they’re two completely different people.
Hatori’s squinty face was…hilarious, to put it simply.
Oh…I forgot the dance seems to be something the animal of the year does. So if Yuki was 3 years ago, it makes sense Momiji is doing it this year.
Best seat in the house for a sunrise, huh?
Kimetsu no Yaiba 8
I’ve seen Muzan being described as “Demon Michael Jackson” and now I can’t get that out of my head when I see him…sorry.
Tsukihiko, huh? It translates to “moon’s radiance” or something like that. That name is appropriate for a bad guy, isn’t it?
This is the first time I’ve really listened to the OST (aside from the OP and ED), so it’s…really something.
Ooh, I didn’t realise until now, but Ufotable even imitated the paper Jump is printed on with the next-ep previews…
OPM 2 8 (OPM 20)
Er…I haven’t mentioned it for the past few episodes, but Suiryu is hotttttttt. (No? I said that? Okay, next step.) That’s basically the only reason why I’m watching anymore…I can’t seem to find anyone who thinks positively of this tournament arc enough to do reviews of it that I can read, which has made my own opinion of this beloved series go down the drain…Also, if you weren’t aware, my taste lies not in Suiryu’s huge bulk, but rather in the fact he’s got long hair.
Didn’t Suiryu get pierced in the abs??? Where’s the blood coming from his injuries??? Update: He does have injuries there, they’re just not bloody…that’s all.
The main criticism for OPM 2 is the fact that it keeps cutting between different events, so it’s hard to follow. Well, I’ve had worse (see Concrete Revolutio) so that’s why I’m still here.
People say that clothing changes you – say if you put on a new outfit, you feel like a new person. (Of course, that’s all glamorising and praising consumption, but that’s beside the point here.) I think that’s what’s up with Max and Snek.
Shield Hero 21
“…the Shield Hero is worshipped.”
Really? Boob jiggle, at a time like this??? (Context: Malty is getting th slave crest painted on her.)
Wait, was there ever a Shield Church???
Okay, that felt like a real seasonal ending. What the heck is going to happen in the last few episodes, I wonder…?
Sarazanmai 8
Chikai knows the real meaning of YOLO…heh. I’m only kidding…
To be honest, I think I like Toi best out of the main trio. I tend to like the boys in blue…and no, I don’t mean the otter police.
Kazuki’s service provider is “Kappa Phone”, LOL.
When Reo held up the gun, I was yelling, “Enta! Get it for him!” (i.e. take the bullet) I didn’t expect him to actually do it…
…and here I thought tragic yuri was common enough and we don’t have enough Tragic Yaoi Dudes…
Notably, Toi was registered on Enta’s phone as “Kuji”, while Kazuki is registered as “Kazuki” (katakana) on Toi’s.
Shots fired…!
Update: I didn’t notice this, but the evil dude with kamome written behind him (I think it’s in this episode, but it might have been in the last one instead) must be based on a seagull…because that’s what kamome means.
Bungou Stray Dogs 33 (BSD S3 Ep 8)
I think it was around here I stopped reading the scans, because the series was picked up legally anyway…but I can see the death flags for a certain Port Mafia man…one who stands at the top.
As expected…butt shot. Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for that shot) likes butts, so between this and Sarazanmai…*imagines image of kappa!Kazuki holding a shirikodama* There’s absolutely no buts about it (LOL), there’s no shortage of butts this season.
“To think that the rabbit being hunted would show its face…” – I think it’s hard for you to say that, Akutagawa, when you yourself have no face in that frame…
Why are both Akutagawa and Fyodor Naruto running today???
“So you’re doing this for that woman.”
What is “Mukurotoride”? I don’t seem to remember…maybe I never learnt what it was. Update: Apparently a tower in Dead Apple is called Mukurotoride.
Conspiracy time! This book sounds like Kunikida’s Ability…so imagine if it were under Dazai’s nose the entire time…
Fruits Basket 9
I love how the synopsis for this episode goes, “Kyo fights Yuki, Yuki fights a cold…”
Hatsuharu’s wearing such an ostentatious fluffy jacket…LOL, I love it.
Holy cow (LOL), I forgot how old Hatsuharu is…so that means he’s 15-ish, right?
Come to think of it…I see Fruits Basket characters in Ro Te O, which I started writing at about this time in 2013. The Azrael of that time was a hybrid of Hatsuharu, Ritsu and Ayame, Tetsuya is basically Yuki and Ryou is Kyou…hmm.
Apparently, Shigure had in the 2001 anime a song that went like, “High school girls, high school girls, cute high school girls for me.” So that’s where it was??? (Context: I haven’t seen Fruits Basket 2001, but read the entire manga.)
Kimetsu no Yaiba 9
Recap time, recap time…so the lady’s in the back room and Tanjiro conveniently forgets the man is in the basement…? Wuh?
Moya was complaining about how repetitive this show can get when it comes to the script (i.e. it repeats itself because it doesn’t trust its audience, but I think that’s because this is originally serialised on TV week by week that people may forget if they’re not bingeing, taking notes or following the manga). I’ll talk more about that in my KnY collab post, I guess…
When Yushiro said “watch your back”…he really meant it, huh?
Temari are the balls, but kemari is when you kick the balls.
“…the eyeballs on his hands are creepy.” – LOL.
Shield Hero 22
The ep title just says “Hero Council”…not specifically that there are 4 of them.
My stream’s been buffering more than usual, so I went “like mother, like daughter” before Naofumi did…
It would’ve ben massively funny to hear Melty call Malty either “Trash” or “B****”…especially the last one, because that’s always a fun way to end a sentence (especially for a girl as young as her). Update: She does, but the way she does it isn’t as funny as I thought it would be (and she doesn’t end her sentence with her sister’s new name).
Wait, I thought they got rid of her slave pact??? I thought it was only for the duration of her trial that she needed it for.
L’Arc and that lady seem like they’re foreshadowing for later…hmm. Update: The next-episode synopsis says “yes”. So does that new visual.
Sarazanmai 9
I can’t believe this show’s almost over…That means I gotta get a move on with RobiHachi, but to be honest? Non-anime things are probably going to kep me busy until…a few days from now. So I’ll get RobiHachi watched then.
Characetrs are dying en masse in this episode, aren’t they??? I saw a spoiler that (well, SPOILER) Chikai’s gonna die, but I don’t know about Enta or Keppi…Update: To be honest, I thought Chikai was going to become the next monster – a gun monster, perhaps. Maybe now that I’ve finished the episode, he’ll become a real zombie. (Hey, see what I did there with the bolding…? How’s that for hiding spoilers, eh???)
Oh yeah…I forgot Enta’s sister was Kazuki’s teacher…
There was a sign behind Masa that said”Hinode Asakusa” – “hi no de” meaning roughly “under the sun” or “leaving the sun”.
Tokarev…? The gun? Gun monster, maybe? Is this a critique of the American gun…(exaggerated voice) Nah, can’t be…this is Japanese.
Lionel…Lionel…for some reason, that name in relation to soccer seems familiar...I just can’t put my finger on who it reminds me of, though. Update: Is it, perhaps, Messi…? Yes, I think that’s the guy I was thinking of…!
Aw…I’m not crying, you are…But these words were running through my head before Toi chucked the bag of money away and yelled, “F***!”: “Everything I do, I do it for you.” Isn’t that cute…?
Bungou Stray Dogs 34
“…one by one?” Junban means “sequentially”, so I don’t see why you have to use the phrase “one by one”. Or “one at a time” would also work.
Hardbank…to contrast Softbank (a phone company in Japan).
Face-stealing aliens strike again…(re: Atsushi)
Oh flip. This reminds me of my Kunikida fic…yeah, I bet you don’t remember it.
Hey, this dude! Apparently he’s from one of Kunikida’s stories. I really am approaching the end of what I know of canon…*gulp* Update: Oops, we already passed that part…
I wonder if the real Fyodor could play cello…? Or is this just a thing to make him ominous and villanous…?
The cross on the wall behind Kunikida…makes this show more like Eva than Kekkai Sensen…exquisite. Absolutely exquisite, isn’t it?
Another cool cross, behind Tanizaki!
What’s a tatamigatana? Also, I didn’t know other people could be synchronised using Doppo Poet and Ranpo’s deduction…
Does Kouyou mean (by “the one I most despise”)…Chuuya? Or herself? It’s definitely not Ace.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 10
Headpats for Yushiro as well! Headpats for everyone!
There’s a lot of Tanjiro being terrified in this episode…
Wait…Kizuki? I thought they were the 12 Moons? (Well, “tsuki” means “moon”, but then what’s the “ki”?) Update: The “ki” means “demon”, so the Kizuki are the 12 Demon Moons.
Being alone with the body…that’s always a scary thought in murder mysteries…for the people who dissect them to determine the cause of death, that is.
Considering the name of the episode is “Together Forever”…nup, I don’t see Nezuko and Tanjiro separating anytime soon…
The Kasugai crow is what happens when you can’t turn off your Google Assistant…or GPS…or Siri.
If Tanjiro knows the name of his crow, how do the crows get their names? Do their trainers (is that the right term for a crow breeder in this case…?) give them names?
OPM S2 Ep 9 (Ep 21)
LOL, that one shot of the ants…JC Staff really don’t care about this series, do they…?
I kinda forgot about Genos after a bit more than a week…sorry, I was watching other anime in between. (More than usual, at least. I started playing Chibi Tamago – a forum game for AniList where you collect badges for watching anime - that’s why.)
Did he (Pri-Pri Prisoner)…store his phone in his butt…?

Noragami 24 + Concrete Revolutio 12 + OPM 12 (FINAL)
I was so swept away by this episode I don't have anything to say.
Why are you wishing her good luck, Nagakawa?! She's a witch!
It says "Hokkaido", not "Sapporo" (but Sapporo is in Hokkaido prefecture). I knew something was off about the translation.
I've never seen magic being used like that before, and I have over 10 years of experience absorbing all sorts of multimedia (including anime).
What do the superhumans represent? Update: I kinda forgot this is an allegory. Oops. It could be interpreted to be an allegory on nuclear power, with hints of terrorism...but that's just the way I see it.
Everything's coming together!
Does the root suppress Kikko's evil powers or bring them back?
The Psy-Kicker is that dude you see momentarily in the OP near the end just after Earth-chan.
Strangely, I could analyse think of at least 2 or 3 motives of the "Stop! They're only kids!" exclamation from Raito during the one second I read it in.
Bonin Islands = Ogasawara Islands. Check the "Japanese possession" part of the link, that might be what they're talking about.
Ahh...do we really know Nakagawa's role in this? I still feel like we're missing a crucial piece of information (or many) regarding Jin.
I keep forgetting these subs come from Daisuki. No wonder the subs look funny.
Tank Top Master, did you just-? You did not just call Tatsumaki rank 2 in a demeaning way. She’s placed above you!
Why ONE decided to have two similar looking dudes (Genos and Drive Knight) in the same series, interacting with each other...I will never know.
Why did Drive Knight choose to tell Genos (and by extension Child Emperor)?
Check and mate, Melzagard.
Everybody knows you don’t yell “Behind you!” to a person you’re trying to sneak up on.
I like how the piece of rubble hit Saitama’s nose. Nice touch, people.
Is that- Russia?! *echoes “Russia?! Russia?! Russia?!* <- This refers to a Compare The Meerkat ad, don’t mind it if you don’t get it.
Poor Saitama, he has to get his cape fixed.
That alien (”I wanna go home, Mommy!”) is hilarious.
People always use the word “justice” for their own means.
Plus “peace” gets abused in a similar manner.
Whoever knows how to get me a “cheering Saitama” icon from that scene where Genos was gonna kick Tatsumaki’s butt, send me a link or something! I need one (for Hummingbird)!
Why does Tatsumaki listen to Silverfang? ‘Cos he’s older than her?
Did anyone (aside from me) spot Sonic? (I hope I wasn’t imagining it.)
“A great man who is a hero for fun...and profit.” - Technically Genos you’re all machine and no man (since you’re 19, you don’t count in the eyes of the Japanese). Part of it has to be for Saitama too, right?(!)
Oh, that was Saitama’s description. No wonder - I take it back.
Rating: 2.6/3. It was kinda hard to follow during the “exchanging blows” bit but it was still riveting.
Final rating: 33/36 or 2.75/3 each time, meaning it narrowly edges out Death Parade in the simulcast commentary stakes.

Concrete Revolutio + OPM 11
As I’m running out of eps to document (until spring 2016), I’m gonna be taking notes a lot more from now on.
Jacky and Claudia are the names of 2 of the Angel Stars. Emi is Magotake’s assistant and Chinatsu is Magotake’s maid (thus being Jirou’s as well).
Ethnology is about different kinds of people...hmm.
The tobacco stand spells out tobacco as “tobaco” but that’s because tobacco is spelt “tobako” in Japanese.
Claude reminds me of someone but I don’t know who.
If you know your music symbols, you know that one of the Angel Stars’ music notes has its head backwards. Then when they all appear in front of Claude, two noteheads are backwards.
Rose is another Angel Star, and Raito has boosters in his shoes which shoot out blue fire.
Reiichi is the name of the student with blonde hair and green eyes, he’ll probably be important later.
The two Japanese lines that Funi didn’t sub were “Don’t take pictures!” and “Hand over the film!”
Google says miso butter ramen is a thing. I didn’t expect that.
Oh holy superhumans, we just got a slam in the gut. Too bad I have to sacrifice everything in the next year for my exams, or else I’d watch the second cour while it simulcasts.
Hey, while I’m at it, I found this. It’s in Japanese but you can finally make sense of the timeline now!
“Do not panic.” = “Stay calm and do nothing.”
Hey, Dr Genos. Nice to see him again.
Atomic Samurai just quoted Goemon, and it was epic.
Atomic Samurai yellow version is my favourite eyecatch of the show.
“OK.” - I’ve been LOLling all ep, but that sealed it since I’ve been waiting for that one for a while.
Well, that’s settled - one more ep to go!
Rating: 2.9/3. Back to back battles never hurt a shonen lover (who never participates in battles themselves).

Noragami 22 + Concrete Revolutio 10 + OPM 10
Wow, ever since I saw Total Drama in America I’ve been a fan so...that’s the entirety of TD’s life minus 2 or 3 years, and now they’re on to the Ridonculous Race. It’s a new era, kiddos.
I wonder what Yukine smells like? (T-That came out wrong.)
Coraline taught me what a "beldam" was.
That Vaisravana thing was spoilt by the manga scanlators.
"Iya" means "awful", wrong kanji though.
The Olive Tavern?...Oh? Isn't that-no, that's Olive Garden. The Olive Tavern is the restaurant Ebisu likes.
Whoah! This. Is. Good. (But only because Hyouma was blushing slightly.)
"...can become the future." Hmph. Very fitting considering the theme of today's ep.
Kikai means machine. Why didn't they translate that word? They gave approximations for obake and youkai...at least be consistent, people.
Interesting to note Equus was made specifically for Grosse Augen types, that means there's more than one Grosse Augen out there.
Jirou called Hyouma senpai! Interesting and a cute touch.
The unfortunately named IQ. *sigh* Bad names abound today. However, notes for later - these girls are Mari, Nana and Akira...waitasec, Akira’s not a girl. Oops.
Oh, now they explain it. Infernal Queen.
This is like Earth-chan version 2! (Plus terrorism.) Update: I said this before Kikko mentioned it earlier in the ep.
Wait-Akira is Hyouma? Whut? So confused right now.
Nobody smokes in this era?
Okay, basically grandfather paradox at its most confusing was that great big discussion on monkeys and humans. If you don't get it, you don't get it.
Nihonbashi is a bridge (hashi = bashi in this case) in Japan (Nihon).
This episode was deep, it was like an intro into Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (which funnily enough has been renamed "Erased" by Crunchyroll/Aniplex America, and Kikko says "erased") all by itself.
Why do all the best heroes have to be ignorant when villains are talking to them?
Chargin' mah lazer!
Garou? I've heard of him from spoilers.
Isn't Charanko a girl's name? (-ko means it's a girl...usually.)
They forgot to mention it was Hero Assn. HQ in A City.
Why does Watchdog Man have to always point out that someone farted? It's actually getting old fast.
Did anyone notice the tea robot serving Saitama after he asked for tea? I thought it was funny.
"You can call me Sitch." - Yeah right, your name is Changed Daily. (jks, you won’t get it unless you know of The Secret Show)
"[G]et right down to brass tacks." - Never heard that before. I'd assume that it means: "Let's get down to business..." [completes this quote with "to defeat the Huns" because I can't resist. Mulan was good stuff.]
This Shibabawa sounds like a woman who predicted Europe was gonna get wiped out by ISIS in 2300. I only read one article on her so I don't remember her name but she was a Madame too.
"Chikyuu ga yabai" (on the seer's note) - I forgot what "yabai" means...
Child Emperor has juku (cram school). Cute, but...juku is annoying.
It's a tengu...with 4 tails! Say it with me: it has 4 tails!
I've definitely seen this ship before in spoilers.
“So that’s why there are no windows.” - LOL.
Hydreigon, but all green. (jks)
Rating: 2.7/3. It was pretty average for this show, but a little lighter on the laughs...you could tell it was a set-up ep.

Noragami 21 + Concrete Revolutio 9 + OPM 9
There's a fall 2015 anime called Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note and while it's not the best overall, it has Saito Soma (Rokka's Adlet) and a duo of Boueibu voice actors (Atsushi and Akoya).
Yato-chan, not Yatty. (If you know me well enough, you'll know I prefer the honorifics intact rather than altered to suit a Western audience unless I deem it fitting for the atmosphere.)
*screams "Fujisaki!"* Oh man.
Fast Pass, eh? *eyes the reference*
Yukine's outfit! The ED animation finally makes sense!
To think Yukine is Speed of Sound Sonic, LOL.
Un-/arm/ed combat. LOL.
This tale's a lot like Oedipus and Persephone. (I did some research for my fanfics, and stumbled upon this Greek legend.) Instead of Hades, it's Izanami.
*screams in agony as Fujisaki kisses Hiyori* Gaaaaaah! I will be on the HiyorixYato ship forever! *runs away screaming*
Gosh, we're four from the end already.
Interesting to note the Americans are the bad guys here, this could be an allegory for terrorism (which it is, along with other sorts of political allegory).
Wakaba girl indeed...
The time went backwards 2 years! That's the first time that's ever actually ticked backwards instead of jumping.
Apparently drawing muscle and sinew is hard (it’s a thing I learnt from the Attack on Titan craze, no matter how much I’d despise admitting so) so BONES has some very good staff on hand.
Kikko's face when she got squashed, LOL.
Oh, what about Fuurouta's squashed face though?
The Americans arrived, and they brought Transformers! Tada!
Modern art again, eh Genos?
Saitama. C Class Hero, rank 2. Height 175 cm. Weight 70 kg. Age 25. Current address Z City.
Madhouse has got a good crew too.
I think I understand the appeal of Mumen Rider to fans now.
Dang it Sonic, you just had to remind me of that change last ep.
A drone? Seems like handy stuff. I need a drone, stat.
That letter reminds me of how people are on Tumblr. Then again, I’m no exception. I wonder if that part of the hero gig was modelled on how mangaka receive letters from their fans?
Ugly guy may be annoying but he has a point.
I remember there was a class on how to have a job interview with someone and a teacher (<-he used to be a bouncer at a casino, in fact - very lean but lethal due to karate) did how not to do it. The only reason I bring this up is because Saitama’s shorts and T shirt combo reminds me of how not to show up at a job interview.
Oden, as can be attested from anyone who watches Osomatsu-san - good for bonding over. Never tried oden myself, I really should try it. Here’s mozuku, btw.
Rating: 2.7/3. Nothing wrong with it visually, it’s the cliffhanger the Sea King gave in the preview plus “Though the crisis could occur anytime in the next six months, the heroes are surprised to hear the roar of...” plus Tatsumaki’s debut.

Concrete Revolutio + OPM 8
Have you ever felt like you should’ve had better birthday buddies? There are so many people, fictional or otherwise, who you could share a birthday with and the best I get is Manta Oyamada...*sigh*
On a brighter note, I’ve been watching this series called Morita-san wa Mukuchi and it’s a 3-minutes-an-ep series. It’s quite obviously seinen so if you can’t live through the occasional pseudo-yuri that pops up every now and again, don’t try it.
Naruto running. Just another resemblance between OPM and Concrete Revolutio.
Badass Jirou. *puts on sunglasses*
Hey, Earth-chan’s alive again!...She looks different, too. I wonder what Judas/Jirou did to revive her.
“Dare” is a tricky kanji but “shi” (of “shiranai”) isn’t, so I don’t quite get why that isn’t a kanji on this titlecard. This is seinen, so the audience is older than, say, OPM and should be more than capable of writing such a kanji.
Sour konbu?
Yeowch, the subs are getting hard to follow.
Update: Cyborg 009 guy, LOL. Plus I finally get what “sour konbu” has to do with anything.
I like this guy (Yumihiko Otonashi) too. It seems the way the Gigander 7 crew operates is pretty similar to Earth-chan, always uphold the law no matter where your morality lies.
Wa-hey, looks like this episode is full of the comedy they were going for in the Mountain Horse episode too.
LOL, while Emi and Kikko talk in the office all I can focus on is the long phone in the background.
So Raito, whether he was an android or not, would have been a kid when Jirou was.
Basically the Gigander 7 crew are more “abandon the past to embrace the future” people. I can understand the viewpoint but i don’t hold that viewpoint myself - you need to understand the past in order to move forward and predict the future.
I just realised there are stars on the side of the timeskip frames. Maybe even those have significance?
“You have to grant me my wish too, okay?” - Hmph.
Maybe the Eye of Lucifer is a mindreader superhuman. That’s always possible.
I knew from the first heist that this was a Kaito Kid-ish ep, but we’re going full throttle now.
That scarf! Either that’s Jirou’s inspiration (for wearing a red scarf) or Jirou. Update: I got something right.
Hah, I know this trick from my fanfic The Mysterious School - Use superpowers to fill in the gap of the mystery.
I know this trick too, Kaito’s used it.
Ooh, who’s this Defence Force guy? He’s not as handsome as some of the other guys we’ve seen but he’s intriguing.
I gotta collect all these titlecards. They’re really cool.
Does this remind you of One Piece somewhat? That woman in the bikini looks kinda like Hancock.
I thought that was Sonic. Oops.
Well, Genos’s blasters are handy for more than just blasting.
Mumen Rider wears glasses? Interesting.
*dramatic thunder* Dun dun!
This trick, last time I saw it it was Hataraku Maou-sama. Basically any good fighting anime has to have a “Flash Step/appear behind a person without that person noticing” scene.
Yay, Sonic! He’s back!
The Sea King seems to be a perfect match for Pri-pri-prisoner.
Holy gollywoggles. A Sailor Moon (pseudo-)transformation, here? I was expecting that to be disturbing but thankfully...it was over quickly.
The wiki says Sonic is an S class Hero, meaning at this point he mustn’t have signed up with the Hero Association.
That moray reminds me of Yamamoto-kun’s little bro (Gugure! Kokkuri-san).
Fweh? Amai Mask’s hair has been cut!
“[S]peed, grace and brilliance” eh? Isn’t that Sonic’s gig? (<-pointing out the obvious)
Sonic’s body is supposed to be scarred but you can’t see the scars in the anime, that’s kinda disappointing.
Geesh, two alterations and the only good thing we get out of that is a good Sonic quote. “You’re fine at playing make-believe, but against true power you don’t stand a chance.”
Was the Sea King attacking the shelter meant to happen in the manga?!
I just remembered that the veteran - think his name’s Yoshiaki Kawajiri - was on board for this episode so the changes must have resulted from there.
Hey, Sneck! Haven’t seen you in a while.
Rating: 2.5/3. As you can tell, it was much better when it wasn’t altered too much..

Noragami 19 + Concrete Revolutio 7 + OPM 7
If you agree/disagree with me on any of the stuff I say, I'd be glad to strike up a convo with you readers of the simulcast commentary! Just go to courage-a-word-of-justice's inbox and make sure it's clear what you're talking about.
Daikoku's expression, LOL.
Yato no kami, according to Google, are snake gods and something completely different to Yato (who I think was called just "Yato-gami").
I like the rectangular design they use on the gods, I'd like to find a background that had such a design.
Did I ever make a comparison between Yukio (Blue Exorcist) and Kazuma? If not, Kazuma's grey jacket should be able to show you the similarity between the two.
Inaba refers to this -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hare_of_Inaba
Definitely not a baldy, that Ebisu.
Oh man, factorisation...I thought I'd never set eyes on it again. In Noragami of all places, too...
I went "Aww..." at young Koufuku. I probably shouldn't have - moe ain't my kind of thing.
What a genius plan, Yukine...not only that, but you pissed off Yato which is good for the comedy.
I think the purse shape of the ayakashi (phantom) was genius.
Money flying through the wind, how dramatic it is...(jks)
I almost expected bedridden!Yato to yell/whine, "MONEY!"
That's the shrine that you see at the end of the ED! I actually gasped when I saw it because I thought that shrine was either Yato's imagination or graffiti!
Ah! Another smol kid stole my heart (at least for a second)! Smol!Yato!!!
...and bandaids all over Hiyori's fingers just cements the shrine-making's significance all the more. *whispers* I know you're out there, HiyorixYato shippers...*stops whipsering*
So Emi thinks Jirou is her boyfriend, hmm. Concrete proof for Concrete Revolutio.
I like Judas already (based on looks alone).
This is Shinka 42 so Judas was in jail in Shinka 40's July.
With all the time jumps, you forget about Mountain Horse pretty easily, eh?
Uru works by riding the air. Duly noted.
Just because she says someone's bad doesn't mean it's always true. Remember that.
The birds are...so adorable!
Star candy! Love that sugary stuff.
Earth-chan reminds me of Genos, except Genos ain't solar powered.
Earth-chan bath products! That really is a crazy extent to which they advertise superhumans. Then again, Boueibu cookies and drinks are probably worse than that.
Instead of the DFE it should be the JSDF...? I dunno, it's just a guess.
There's a spaceman who looks kinda like Cyborg 009 and a guy wearing a purple suit who kinda looks like Tuxedo Mask, LOL.
Now that we've seen some single episode arcs, the story's a lot clearer. Ahh, this one was good too. I would've rated it pretty highly, but maybe not as highly as the other one because Kikko's star candy does make things slightly ambiguous.
So that's what BL stands for. BL jokes would have gone on for longer if they left that going.
Another Cyborg 009 reference...?
I heard there's a really famous animator working on eps 8 and 9. Also, next ep will break the trend of The [Adjective] [Verb].
Torino scale: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torino_scale
Microsoft Surface Pro table. (<- injoke if you read the ANN reviews)
What's in Genos's suitcase?
"When your back's up against the wall, just muddle through." Hmph.
Genos's CORE processor. LOL.
Kamehamehadouken!
Why is a comet explosion blue?
With his hand close to his face, Saitama looked kinda kawaii.
These are the images from the OP. From the way they're presented there, it looks like they're actual threats to Saitama...
I'm with Genos. You should already know how I document quotes.
Black Hole is slowly crawling away...
Holy-! Pri-Pri-Prisoner next time.
Rating: 2.8/3, because it wasn't quite as entertaining as usual (it was suspenseful, sure, but it was more about "I diss the hero" and then Saitama just walked out with Genos, blaming it on the meteor). I guess maybe the premise just starts to wear out after the initial hype?
Update: I only just realised that my simulcast commentary tag for Concrete Revolutio was spelt without an “L” in it. If you can’t find an episode, search without the L.

Concrete Revolutio + OPM ep 6
Next year is gonna be intense so be prepared for even spottier simulcast commentaries from now on.
I've always thought Concrete Revolutio sounds like it should be said by a robotic voice...
Well, that was...different. Charlie Chaplin-like comedy was never a big thing for me, I always want intelligent jokes and Japanese jokes I can explain - those are part of the reason why the simulcast commentary exists.
Is it just me or is Fuurouta looking like a bishie instead of a kid this ep? Plus instead of rare Hyouma appearances, we get bishies! Yay!
The Nippon Budokan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nippon_Budokan It is a large stadium that looks like Rod Laver Arena, from the looks of things.
Look at the lady next to Emi when Emi leans on Jirou! LOL.
Japan is fascinated with America. Who is America fascinated by? (<- rhetorical)
"...their power opens up the human mind. I'm not human." - Ba-dum-tish.
Horiz ketchup.
Freeze shocking one of the guys behind him, LOL.
I've written stories like this and unlike Charlotte which I got turned off simply because it was too close to my stories, I actually want to keep going with this one even more because of this ep. Bishies are partially why, I'll admit, but all I want are some variety and welcoming atmospheres in my shows - not some flat standard melodrama romance.
Did you just say BL? *snickers*
The Taro-Fuu nickname's cute, IMHO.
Oh yeah, sometimes you forget this show is set in the Showa era.
Dee has a point, it's one of the first rules of psychology (and science in general).
Song’s title: "Good Morning to the People of the World". Ever since last week's ep preview, I've always thought Miss Touzaki was up to something, and now it's time to find out the truth.
*eyes well with tears* That guy...this really is political allegory. It's just more disguised this week because of the comic band.
Hah, getting Jirou to loosen up like that. I think that Fuurouta would've actually wanted to join them and all these events we're seeing push Jirou further and further to breaking point.
If I were to give a rating to this ep, I'd rate this pretty highly. This one was clear in its intent both metaphorically and not but Miss Touzaki's intent is not.
"Huton". The Japanese don't distinguish f from h when it comes to the "fu" sound.
The manga Saitama's reading is "Cockroach Buster" and it's Shonen Jump. No wonder he likes it.
Ah hey, I think I finally found a proportion that doesn't quite work for these guys - Saitama's eyes! When Saitama turned his head to look at Genos it whacked out a bit.
Wait, what rank is Genos right now? Number 2? Update: Number 17. Now it makes sense.
Throwing knife? That's ninja fast! *a few seconds later* Oh, it really was a ninja - Sonic.
Kansetsu no Panic (Elbow Joint Panic) vs Onsoku no Sonic retains the joke somewhat but that Jack-o-Lantern Panic doesn't. Dang, it was the only anime scene I looked forward to too.
"Ninja fast" ain't good enough to describe Saitama's sword bite so that will be "Saitama fast".
There's a sign in the background saying "Over Due" - this scene isn't quite as overdue as that sign suggests.
Even Sonic is standing around, being bored. LOL.
Tatsumaki, I've heard so much about her.
Way cool table. Make one for IKEA and I'll be set for the future.
A-hey, that guy and his brother from ep 1 and Hammerhead from Sonic's intro ep.
LOL, Genos cleaning the toilet and wearing a pink apron. He's good at everything except recognising jokes.
I explained once that "kintama" (which isn't the same as Golden Ball's name) means "golden ball" and that's slang for "balls".
They don't call this dude "Spring Moustache" for nothing.
Konbu is a type of seaweed you find in ramen.
LOL, if he grows his hair back he'll lose his powers.
Blizzard's here too!
Interesting touch, putting the titlecard near the end.
Saitama's red shirt says "Bulls". On the back, "Chicago".
It's a rainbow! (From green tea, I think.)
Oh, next time it's the meteor. I've heard something about it but maybe, this is the Boros arc and we're heading towards the end...?
Rating: 2.7/3. A tad subpar compared to the usual because I could actually find flaws, but they weren't gapingly large.

Noragami 17 + Concrete Revolutio 05 + OPM 05
This is the smallest amount of notes on an ep ever (for Noragami). That’s how thrilling the ep was.
I never saw the end of the arc in the manga so I didn't know what would happen...let's just say I was pleasantly suprised, and leave it at the understatement. (Lookit dat action!)
Also, I want to see Kazuma's transformation into a Blessed Regalia. Dang that.
Ah man, the blight is so bad even lion-man Kuraha is affected now...
Is Roppongi the place in Japan or a person?
There was a sign during the first “guys with helmets” scene, it said “strike” in katakana (plus some other stuff I couldn’t read because I wasn’t fast enough).
It’s over 1000!
Why did Kikko suddenly stick her face on the window?
CGI train too obvious.
I remember there used to be a particular set of dog food ads from a certain dog food company and Matsumoto has similar eyes to the dogs in that ad. (Weird comparison but it’s true.)
Sakuga...*drools*
Some people have a natural aptitude for jokes. I wonder if ONE is one of those people?
Related to the above comment: If someone makes a Hiro/Hero gag in this anime I’m gonna give up. (Simply because that is my domain and not OPM’s.)
The Hero Test, sounds like an arc from Boku no Hero Academia (I’ve been wandering ‘round that wiki as of late even though I’ve only read about 2 chapters + the one shot).
Master Roshi...? In the line...? Without sunglasses...?
Budgie smugglers. Last time I set eyes on that article of clothing it was on Tony Abbott, and I don’t wanna think about those ever again. (Small note: Saitama’s budgie smugglers have his name on them in white.)
I saw a comment with a GIF of this. It said “from 0 to 1000 real fast”, and that suits that GIF so well.
Whack a Mole? Really? *stifles laughter*
Genos doesn’t have a *erhem* wiener *erhem* as the spoilers tell you.
I took a test recently and while people were bragging about it the way Genos was, I’d probably be average...
Why is the “I got 71 points” face not a meme? I want that meme, stat.
Puffed up like a bubblegum bubble.
Buttchin, eh? Who does that remind me of? (<-rhetorical)
Rookie crushing? Don’t they do that in other businesses too? (I think it’s called “hazing the newbie”.) I thought Sneck was Sonic though, they do look somewhat alike face-wise.
No one has a flip phone these days. I still have a Nokia (it’s 5 years old and it has survived multiple water splashings) and I say that!
Like Boku no Hero Academia again. No wonder the two are so popular.
I need a GIF of “Saitama walks away”.
Smokin’ hot Genos.
Sakuga feast today. De-licious!
Spoke too soon!
Fun fact: I’ve recently been muttering “holy shitto” when I’m blown away/need an expletive. “Shitto” means “jealousy” in Japanese so it’s SFW.
Hmph, that was interesting. The “death” kanji was a nice touch.
*jerks along with Saitama’s weird walk*
He’s a cyborg, that’s cheating!
4th wall busting, LOL.
Dang it, I get Sonic next time. (Only one week...? How will I survive until then?!)
Do all the heroes move down in ranking once a new hero gets a high spot?
Rating: 3/3. If this ep doesn’t garner a 3/3 I don’t know what does.

OPM + Concrete Revolutio 04
Sonic!!! Here I come!
You can make that much money legally, it's called capitalism. <-Update: *suddenly stares in wonder at the politics joke I just made*
That must have scared the heebie-jeebies out of at least one person.
Strategically placed windows/spaces in walls. It means you can brush your teeth while watching TV (preferably anime...?).
Hey, another Dragon Ball reject.
Hikikomori, basically...okay, Saitama's screwed.
Introducing Mumen (Licenseless) Rider! Obvious Kamen Rider parody, but still a character nonetheless.
Yeowch, worse track run than Genos, that guy.
...that name makes a lot of sense. *stares at it halfheartedly while trying not to laugh*
At least those heads don't spurt blood...until after they're cut.
Do ninja wear shoes?
Umm...is it just me, or does Genos look as if he's in a solarium (a bit)? *snickers*
You can see Genos's afro in the background. Plus Genos being a straight-faced fanboy is kinda funny too.
That fight was hilarious, especially because Hammerhead still had Sonic's throwing knife in his head.
Nice leaf (instead of a tumbleweed).
"Try out your moves"? "Innocent smile"? That last one especially. *snickers*
I facepalmed because I wandered into the tag, knowing I'd see Sonic. Unfortunately, I came across a "jiggle physics" gif first.
"Please wait for a while." That's what the "We are experiencing technical difficulties" thing actually says, except this time the change in translation made it funnier. Nice butterflies...pretty butterflies...
It's funny to see Sonic deliver a speech that's meant to be badass, juxtaposed against his terrified face.
I want that tea cup - the one with the sleeping guy on it. I know what part of it says (one bit says "sleep", another bit after it says "wait") but not all of it.
Saitama does Gendo face! It's extremely effective...(on Genos, that is.)
I got a better look at the books on Saitama's shelf, and it turns out a complete set of Dragon Ball is there (top left). You can see the dragon on it!
Ah, the Hero Association. I've heard big things about this arc.
Genos fell for it, I'm howling. (Only laughing a little in real life, but I have mastered the art of watching comedy anime and laughing without actually laughing too loud.)
Now you get a good job, Hammerhead. Unfortunately, the Paradiser incident is highlighting some real world issues...
Rating: 2.7/3 - maybe a bit more depth on the Mumen Rider side, a bit less creepy faces and a few less poop jokes and that ep would be perfect.
If you have superhumans, you gotta have Americans (most of the time).
There was a building that said "[triangle] [cross] building".
Fukushima was where the nuclear meltdown happened, right?
Grosse Augen! Hello again!
Fred and Hoyle effect? I think they mentioned that earlier in the show, or was it in Ranpo Kitan...?
*Googles* Oh, I thought it was something to do with augmentation but turns out Grosse Augen is "big eyes" in German. Strange, I never saw a big eye on Grosse Augen until now.
It's a Tentacool...with a giant eye!
Kikko, don't people think that about refugees too?
Ooh, I like the Gigander 7 guy.
"Japan Kaijuu (Beast) Electric Wave Group".
Apparently "kaijuu groupie" is a Pacific Rim thing.
Little gun firing things in Raito's eyes instead of normal pupils. Makes sense.
No subs for a time switch again. It says "Shinka 42, April, Yoron Newspaper (Company)".
One of these guys looks like Klaus. Or Inspector Yuminaga (Detective Conan).
What...just happened? Psychic powers of a sort (like, pulling your soul out of your body to communicate with others quickly)?
At what point did Jirou learn Miss Ukyo's name?

Concrete Revolutio + One Punch Man 03
Terrorism? *stigma avoided* I guess that’s the way a country with minimal to no terrorism attacks (Japan) would react to such a thing, noting that terrorist attacks are getting more frequent in countries aside from it.
Hideous bolo tie strikes again.
More weirdoes? Y’don’t say.
The squid/indecent thing was probably a pronunciation joke. Unfortunately, I don’t have my dictionary on hand so I can’t check it up.
Hmm, so Hyouma could stop time and run fast? What was he? Superman? He wasn’t Saitama, that’s one thing for sure.
“He’s a robot. Leave him.” - Best excuse to leave him alone, no? (jks)
Interesting how he’s still hung up on the fact he’s human when he’s obviously not. The notion of “reality” works in strange ways. Plus the text that declared Raito still human was all katakana which isn’t normal.
O-kay. So Raito has good and evil sides. <- Update: Wrong. Past and future versions of him.
Magotake put Jirou in the Bureau?!
Mieko looks a lot like Kikko.
Love can’t always equal justice.
“Jaguar” is probably Hyouma’s old superhero name.
I can hear Jiro scream, “Shiba! Equus cost a tonne of money!”
Why do most of the superhero stories fail in the love department?
I can hear the fans moaning, “Detective Raito. Sounds like Death Note!” Truth be told, Raito is spelt with the kanji for “future” and “person” so...not quite.
Ooh, the doctor’s handsome...*record scratch* That’s why, he looks like Hekiru of SamFlam.
*eyes Dr Genus sideways* Human Zundar (see ep 3 of Boueibu).
Thank you for the correct usage of the apostrophe.
Oh yeah, I forgot this was Armored Gorilla time. Plus, it’s interesting to note how Genus is science’s version of Saitama.
Ah, amazing how the apprentice learns so quickly.
Has anyone ever managed to catch the in between frame of Saitama when the title appears? I want to see exactly how fast people are. (In this ep, it’s at about 2:42).
Hey, Sonic censors Mumen Rider’s butt and at the end Saitama’s coming back from grocery shopping. I didn’t realise that until now even though they’re really obvious.
Caillou Sr and Mecha Naruto (or however the running meme names went).
Looks like a chromosome when you unravel it, but since there’s only one it would be a chromatid.
*waves goodbye to the House of Evolution*...?
Saitama looked the other way, LOL.
This thing’s a hive of memes. Genos = modern art.
That’s...suggestive, Carnage Kabuto. *raises eyebrows*
LOL, just started up the Memes page on TV Tropes. You’ll thank me for it later.
Poledancer Genos. OPM meme count = 3.
Holy evolution, Dr Genus! You’re exactly like Akechi (Ranpo Kitan)!
Just thinking, if Dr Genus got a hold of Saitama’s skin cells/DNA in some other form he could probably make a tonne of Saitamas the way he cloned himself. Dandruff is out of the question (obviously) but other methods aren’t.
The sheer juxtapositiong of Saitama’s badly drawn face with his battle aura...LOL. Come to think of it, OPM is a true beauty for analysis.
Saitama’s face when Dr Genus enters: “Where did you come from?”
Haha, the alarm clock says “Mezashi”, but the word for alarm clock is “Mezamashi”. The character being inserted with a caret (y’know, a ^ and not a vegetable that grows in the ground) is a “ma”. Hence the deliberate stupidity or an error that became something funny. Or both.
So you literally “train until your hair falls out”. Yup.
“Human beings are strong because we have the ability to change ourselves.” - Another quote for the quote bank.
Nice foreshadowing. (because I saw spoilers that mentioned a sale next Saturday)
How did Genos manage to keep that sheet of paper (with the sales on it) safe?
Ah, it turns out the alarm clock appears in the ED with the same ingenious “ma” error. I just didn’t see it until now.
Did I ever mention after the crazy energy of OPM, the ED is a real mood whiplash (TV Tropes TM)? It reminds me of the 2nd ending of Angelic Layer, After the Rain (Ame agari), which gives a similar effect when paired up with Angelic Layer’s more high energy fights (e.g. the final one). Come to think of it, the ED is compact iyashikei.
At the sight of the word “ninja”, my face went all funny - it was half cringe, half smile with delight. I don’t have the best relationship with a certain orange haired ninja (I tried reading the manga, watching Shippuden and watching a Shippuden movie but no dice) but I have a love for Sonic. Reasons being Kansetsu no Panic (Elbow Joint Panic) and his bishieness (bishie for this show, anyway - I have no taste for deliberate bishie Amai Mask).
Rating: 2.8/3. I shoulda kept a running meme count from the start of the show, dang it.
