“Here you are ma’am. Thank you for stopping by! You picked some lovely flowers.” Jyushi smiled brightly at the old woman as he handed her her bouquet of flowers.

She smiled back at him. “Such a nice boy! Thank you for helping me!”

His smile never faltered as she left the flower shop and he gave a self-satisfied sigh when she was gone. As he started to wipe down the counter, his coworker slid up next to him.

“You’re such a nice boy, Jyushi!” Kuko cooed, pinching his cheek.

Jyushi pouted. “Kuko! Stop being so mean to me!”

“Leave him alone, Kuko.” Hitoya, their manager, yelled from the back room.

Kuko rolled his eyes. “You people are no fun.” Setting himself down on the stool behind the counter, he asked, “So, do you have today’s flowers all picked out and ready?”

Jyushi felt his cheeks burn hot at the mention of the special flowers he set aside once a week for a very special customer. Almost a year ago, you started coming into the flower shop with a giant encyclopedia. After a couple of weeks of trying to talk to you but being too shy, Jyushi managed to learn that you were studying botany, specifically flowers, and were taking notes on the different flowers the store had. So he took it upon himself to help you out. Every week since then, when you came in with your notes and dazzling smile, he would hand you a flower and spew out facts about it from the research he did during the week before your visit. It soon became his favorite part of the day, not that he would ever tell you that.

Nodding, he pointed to a wrapped bundle of white flowers. “Yep. I have magnolias already prepared for today.”

“Magnolias, huh?” Jyushi nearly jumped out of his skin, seeing you at the counter, your smile almost blinding him.

He nodded again, a bit more bashful, causing Kuko to snicker before leaving the two of you alone to talk. “Yeah. Magnolias. Did you know that the flowers bloom before the leaves appear on the plant?”

Your eyes widened and you quickly jotted the fact down. “I do now! Seriously, Jyushi, what would I do without you? With your help, I’ll be able to become a professional botanist and work with flowers everyday for the rest of my life.”

“That would be wonderful.” He couldn’t help but smile. You always get so passionate and excited about your future. Your optimism always wore off on him, not that he minded in the slightest.

Taking one of the flowers from the small bouquet, you held out your hand. “May I borrow the scissors, please?”

After Jyushi handed them to you, you cut the stem shorter and tucked the flower behind your ear. Little did you know, but the cheeks of the boy in front of you exploded in pink. Did you even know how cute you look right now? You looked like some floral goddess. His heart skipped a beat.

“You look so pretty.”

Both of you were speechless, but Jyushi was panicking. He didn’t really say that out loud now, did he? Please tell him he didn’t just embarrass himself in front of you! He would never be able to live this one down! His life was effectively over.

However, you laughed. It was a pretty sound that seemed to make the sun shine brighter and the flowers around you both began to glow. “Aw, thank you! You’re pretty handsome if I do say so myself.”

Again, his cheeks darkened. “Oh, ah, thank you.”

Jyushi’s heart jumped into his throat when you gently took his hand in yours. He looked at you confused, shocked, and desperate, while you just grinned softly. It was then he thought, perhaps your heart was beating just as fast as his at this exact moment.

“So, tell me more about these magnolias…”

I mentioned this before but Osomatsu being Aromantic is one of my biggest hc for his character because I mean how can it not.

Like throughout the show I just found myself relating his experiences with mine in terms of being Aro so maybe it’s like 50% projection but I have evidence for the other 50 I promise hear me out.

One thing I thought of was the fact that Osomatsu was the only brother who didn’t take the rental gf’s out on a date. He only asked for a single hug and he only went on a date when all of his brothers went on a huge date with all of them.

I know the point of the scene was to be funny and that Osomatsu gave away all this stuff for a split second hug but he’s never shown wanting to spend time with these girls actually on a date until he has company around him.

Osomatsu also quickly grew bored of watching Jyushi on his date. Sometimes Aromantic people don’t have an interest in romantic relationships and things such as dates. The rest of the brothers follow the couple nearly all day and Osomatsu seemed to have left once he was sure Jyushimatsu was safe and everything was fine.

‘The way home’ Osomatsu doesn’t mention a thing about wanting to be married or having a partner to love. He even says that he specifically doesn’t want to live with somebody else.

Then there’s the episode with the drug store girl that Karamatsu and Todomatsu fight over

Osomatsu and Jyushimatsu are the only ones to see the situation for what it is. It makes sense for Jyushi, not just because he’s not that stupid but also because he’s been in love before and knows the difference. You’d assume Osomatsu would also be all over this because just look at him- but he’s not, he just gives that same ‘are you serious?’ stare the entire episode. Maybe that could be because his ego is so small, but I believe he doesn’t have that level of interest in anyone so that means he can see right through it all. (Like how Aro people tend to be better judges of romantic situations because they don’t have those feelings (or don’t have them as intensely)

I think the biggest piece of evidence I have is the entirety of the episode ’just don’t’. Osomatsu clearly had no interest in dating and didn’t even remember Nyya until she told him they’d met before. He even jokes about going on a date before laughing and waving it off.

When Nyya admits she does want to date him Osomatsu completely freaks and hides away. We see him really struggling with this decision and we know that he accepted her offer but he clearly wanted to take it back. Even offering one of his brothers to take his place. (It was his opportunity to finally have something over them, we see how much he loves rubbing this kind of thing in their faces and yet he completely surrenders his sweater to them and lets them fight over it)

Osomatsu, the one who always says he would be fun on dates and loves holding achievements over his brothers head, who does and says whatever he feels like, was too scared to go on a date and nearly flaked.

I think the scene can be read both ways. On one hand Osomatsu doesn’t have the biggest ego. It’s actually the smallest out of all the brothers. So it could be read as him being afraid to go on this date because he feels he’d ruin it or that he didn’t deserve to. Also because having someone love him as he is, piece of shit and all, is terrifying.

But I also think it could be seen in an Aromantic lens. Osomatsu felt pressured to say yes because that’s the natural order of things and when he doesn’t feel the way he thinks he should he gets scared and hides away. He looses sleep over this revelation and only when Totoko gives him a talk does he give it a chance. When he’s rejected he freaks because not only does it establish he’s unlovable as he is but if he can’t force himself to fall in love then does that mean he’s going to be alone forever?

Obviously not, but the point still stands. Some people before they realize they’re Aromantic assume they’re destined to be lonely or that they’re broken in some sense and while it isn’t true, it’s a thought even I had before I realized I was Aromantic. I believe that’s what happened to Osomatsu in that moment. The fear of being different, the dread of realizing something doesn’t feel as it should.

Juto Iruma

as Juto’s younger sister, there’s a bit of an age gap between the two of you (5-7 years) but that doesn’t stop Juto from still being in your life

he was definitely a mischievous older brother when the two of you were younger and he always used to play pranks on you

whenever you would cry and run to your parents he would get scolded but it never really stopped him from poking fun

things were never malicious though, just small things that brothers do to annoy their little sisters

because of the age gap, Juto started to get a bit distant from you when he entered high school, not wanting to hang around his young baby sister

this made you sad of course, but you were in totally different schools and the two of you just sort of did your own thing

even at home, you would barely see each other since Juto would always come back late from studying/partying and you were up early for school that started before his

so you don’t really go to him for advice or comfort because he’s already out of the house once you enter high school

after you finished high school though, the two of you suddenly became close again

with an increase in maturity, you were both able to connect about real world, adult problems and because you didn’t have any other siblings, you used each other to reminisce about the old days

whenever you go home for the holidays, the two of you are always laughing and joking with each other

and Juto’s always giving you amazing presents for your birthday and Christmas

even if you don’t agree with each other, you always back each other up to your parents or to anyone else who hates on either of you

you always make sure to keep in touch and even though the texting chain can go silent for a week or two, it always picks back up

because you both love each other and really do want to be a part of the others’ lives

you hype him up for the police academy and although he was hesitant to tell you about the hypnosis mic stuff, you actively root for MTC

you always meet up for wine nights once a month and that’s when you both drink and spill all the family gossip or happenings

while the two of you are never extremely close or best friends, you always make it known that you’re there for each other

overall it’s a very constant, reliable sibling relationship that you’re both grateful to have

Jyushi Aimono

you and Jyushi are extremely close as you’re only two years younger than him and everyone mistakes you for twins

although you’re the younger one, you’re always looking out for Jyushi and standing up for him when he needs you

growing up, you were always careful to make sure he had Amanda and that he was feeling okay in any crowds you were in

the first two years of high school was hard for him because you weren’t there, but as soon as you come in, he feels like he can be himself again and stand up for himself

of course, you have a reputation and everyone knows as soon as you get into high school that if they bully Jyushi they’re going to have to deal with you

at home, it’s the same way, whenever your parents are out or too busy to take care of you or Jyushi, you step up to the task and make dinner or comfort him

on the other hand, whenever you’re having a bad day or if you’re feeling overwhelmed, it kind of forced Jyushi to step up a little too

he wants you to know that you can rely on him too so he’ll force himself out of his box and comfort you and give you a shoulder to cry on

the two of you were definitely inseparable when you were younger

always singing songs together in the basement on the old karaoke machine, pretending you were rock stars

the fact that Jyushi was able to have a safe space around you was a main reason he was able to create his stage persona

he was able to be comfortable with you and you helped to give him the confidence he needed to really come out of his shell, even if it was just for a crowd of stuffed animals in your basement

even as the two of you get older, you continue to support Jyushi, always going to his concerts and to his hypmic battles

you’re proud that he’s come so far and likewise, as Jyushi gains more confidence, he starts to be able to look after you more

you’re constantly texting each other and Jyushi’s always encouraging you in school and to do what you’re passionate about

overall it’s a very close relationship that starts out as fairly codependent but changes into support that both of you offer to each other as you grow older and become adults

"I remember this guy! He and Sasara went up against Ichiro and his bros, right? Man, I was seriously rooting for him to win, but I guess he and Sasara were at a disadvantage since this was only their first time entering a D.R.B. Still, from what Saji tells me, the guy's had trouble speaking in front of a crowd before, so kudos to him for being able to perform in front of a crowd. That takes a lot of guts to do!"

Ageswap! AU

Some headcanons for a HypMic ageswap! Au

Except everyone's ages are all over the place lol.

Ichiro is 32, Jiro is 30, and Saburo is 27

Samatoki is 29, Jyuto is 25, and Rio is 26

Ramuda is 30, Gentaro is 34, and Dice is 34

Jakurai is 14, Hifumi is 22, and Doppo is 22

Sasara is 31, Rosho is 31, and Rei is 16

Kuko is 32, Jyushi is 31, and Hitoya is 14

Otome is 19, Ichijiku is 26, and Nemu is 23

Buster Bros!!!

Ichiro is a bit of a mess, but he's getting better. He used to be pretty bad, working as a debt collector for Mozuku, doing drugs, and drinking, etc., but thanks to his brothers, he's gotten out and gotten clean.

Unfortunately, during that period, his relationship with his son, Rei, turned sour and Rei ran away at a fairly young age. Ichiro has been trying to repair his relationships, especially with Rei, but Rei isn't interested or receptive at all.

Jiro and Saburo live together, Jiro as a PE teacher at a middle school and Saburo as a white hat hacker/computer security stuff.

Jiro and Saburo's relationship with Ichiro isn't the best, but after Ichiro started getting clean and shaping up, their relationship has improved enough to form a team.

Jiro and Saburo are aware of Rei's existence but haven't actually met him before.

Mad Trigger Crew

Not huge changes here, Samatoki still works with the Yakuza, Jyuto is still a cop, and Rio is still Rio.

Jyuto isn't quite as experienced in being a corrupt cop as canon, so Samatoki makes sure to cover for him whenever he stumbles.

Samatoki is a big brother through and through, so he keeps an eye out for both Jyuto and Rio. His relationship with Nemu is okay, though sometimes she thinks he's the dumbest fool in the world.

Rio is more than well-aware that his survival cooking is not for the faint of heart. He finds it hilarious how Samatoki and Jyuto stutter and flinch whenever he brings it up, as well as how easily they falter under his puppy eyes.

Fling Posse

Ramuda deliberately makes sure as little people know his actual age as possible

It's one thing for a 24 year old to act cutesy and call girls "onee-san," it's a whole other thing when it's a 30 year old, no matter how cute and small he is

Ramuda finds Jakurai small and cute, so he sometimes goes and harasses coo over the boy, though, there have been times where the cops have been called for suspected pedophilia.

He's free from all the Project lambda stuff since it got exposed years ago and after a long hospitalization, he's completely healthy. You might even run into another clone occasionally, though they're all split to the four winds, each having chosen to pursue their own dreams.

Gentaro still is a writer, though he usually wears normal clothes. Honestly, he's way too old to continue to wear a kosode and hakama everywhere. It is way too hot out, plus he's not in his 20s anymore, when he thought it was cool and unique.

Dice is Dice. He's a gambler, though he does make sure to keep enough money around for rent and food. He's old enough that he's not so dumb enough to gamble away everything. Plus, he doesn't want to worry his daughter, Otome. She's already pissed at him enough.

Dice and Otome have a fairly good relationship, though that might just have been a result of Dice being an attentive and easygoing parent and never having to live with each other. Otome cares a lot for Dice, though she hates his gambling addiction.

Matenro

Everyone's pretty sure Jakurai is a mob boss or something. There's no way 14 year old should be able to live alone and be financially well off. Jakurai just smiles through everyone's suspicions, and since there's no proof, no one can do anything about it.

Jakurai acts like a literal angel, though, if you anger him, he might actually stab you (*cough* Ramuda *cough*). Jakurai, Hitoya, and Rei are friends, though no one knows how are when, they just are.

During the TDD era, Ramuda, Ichiro, and Samatoki acted a bit like pseudo-parents for him, though nowadays, while they do their best to keep an eye on Jakurai out of a sense of responsibility, Jakurai is content to ignore them.

Doppo and Hifumi are together and happily so. They still tell most people they're just roommates, due to Doppo's lack of confidence, but they're pretty content together.

Hifumi still works at a host club, though he does fumble sometimes from having less experience. Sometimes he doubts himself because he's not as old as his peers at the host club.

Doppo is just as self-deprecating as always, though there's a whole helping of fatalistic humor as well. His favorite way to relieve himself of stress is to hug Jakurai.

Both Hifumi and Doppo love Jakurai and really worry if a 14 year old living alone is okay. They like taking turns hugging and cuddling with the boy and Jakurai is somehow okay with it.

Dotsuitare Honpo

Sasara is in a pretty happy relationship with Rosho. They've moved past their issues in their youth and are now together.

They live separately, though that's mostly because of convenience for their workplace rather than because they want to

They planned to move in together soon, but their plans are put to halt when they meet Rei

Rei is a student at Rosho's school. He's not a bad student, just a bit inattentive and laissez-faire when it comes to others.

Rei helps them out of a bad situation and shows that he's good with a hypnosis microphone, but nopes out of the situation before either Sasara or Rosho can talk to him. He gets caught by Rosho the next day at school though.

Somehow, he gets roped into joining Dotsuitare Honpo, but there's a gleam in his eyes that tell Sasara that he's pretty pleased with the outcome.

When they find out that Rei lives on his own in a really rundown and small apartment, they freak out a bit and then try to make him move in with one of them.

It... kind of works? Rei still works on a near daily basis and insists on paying rent, but at least he's not living in a shitty apartment anymore.

Rei isn't used to people caring for him, having pretty much raised himself, and it shows. Any bout of affection is waved off with a laugh, light teasing, or a strained grin. When Sasara and Rosho find out that his dad is Ichiro, Sasara gets a little bit more than just mad at at his former teammate.

Bad Ass Temple

Kuko is a full-on monk at the temple, having taken over the temple after his father's retirement. He met Jyushi there, who was praying for luck for his next concert.

Kuko has calmed down a lot since being a teenager. There's still bouts of anger sometimes, but he's mostly exasperated, especially at Hitoya. Kuko is super interested in Jyushi, but not sure how to make his intentions clear without startling the other man or inciting Hitoya's ire.

Jyushi is still a sweetheart, though he's not as permanently attached to Amanda as before. He's a very popular idol/music artist, primarily is visual kei, though he does do other things.

Hitoya originally was a homeless kid, though he did occasionally crash at Jakurai's place. His pride wouldn't let him do it too often, scared of becoming too reliant on the other boy or showing himself as weak.

Jyushi met Hitoya when he was in Tokyo for a concert. Somehow, he convinced the boy to come live with him. He took him back to Nagoya and that's where he's lived since.

Hitoya is very, very protective of Jyushi. He thinks Jyushi is too naive and air-headed for an adult, so he does his best to protect Jyushi from his stalkers and any other people that could hurt him. He's a bit of a hothead and comes off as overzealous and even hissing at people who stand too close to Jyushi.

Jyushi is very patient with Hitoya and thinks he's the cutest kid in the world, an opinion that Kuko very much disagrees with.

Kuko sometimes feels like apologizing to his father after dealing with Hitoya, because damn, was he ever this bad as a kid?

Chuuoku

Otome is young, but she's not stupid. The world sucks and she's doing her best to make it a better place, especially for women. Being responsible for an entire country is overwhelming at times, so she's grateful for Ichijiku's help.

The men vs women agenda isn't quite as fervent as it is in canon, and Otome does her best to include all LGBTQ+ in her equality agenda

Ichijiku still hates men, but she softens a bit when it comes to Otome. The girl is young, but dang if she isn't doing her best.

Nemu willingly works with the Chuuoku, though she is very tired of her brother's dumbassery. Seriously, who actually calls themselves Mr. Hardcore without being embarrased?

Otome used to live with her mother, but she got sick of all the "being a lady" BS that traditional family spout and ran away once she was old enough. Dice being her dad, helped her settle on her own and sending whatever money has sometimes.

Once she overthrew the government, she has a steady home and paycheck, so she regularly sends money and visits him. Thankfully, the money is never spent of gambling because Dice finds it too precious to throw away like that.

Aimono Jyushi:

Jyushi has heart palpitations whenever he thinks about how cute you are, dramatically gripping his chest when you’re brought up and referring to you as his soulmate almost exclusively. Your images might seem to clash as he has a darker, more dramatic theme going on compared to your bubbly self but the underlying dedicated love keeps you together. He doesn’t have the same penchant for sweets that you do but he loves tasting lollipops on your lips as it reminds him to always treasure your sweetness.

Amemura Ramuda;

He had always loved sweets and sweet related things due to the fact he associated them with keeping himself alive, but as it was, he’s starting to have a new connection with sweet treats. You better hide your snacks well because Ramuda will absolutely dig in without even asking, laughing when you pout at him and promising to replace all that he’d eaten (he generally buys you even more). Candy always made him think about death but with you loving it so much, he thought a little bit more about living.

Yamada Ichiro:

Ichiro’s first thought about having a bubbly sweetheart for a significant other is how poorly that always ends for the main protagonists in light novel as he’s read countless tragedies, but he’s pretty sure he’s no main character and things will be fine. He always ends up accidentally finding your stashes while he’s cleaning and simply chuckles, making sure to put it back where it belongs so you could find it again. The most he does is at least remind you to brush your teeth as his motherly tendencies aren’t only reserved for his brothers but seeing how happy you are when you open a new lollipop just makes him want to buy you even more.

HypMic x Touken Ranbu ideas

Hmm...starting up the English Touken Ranbu is nostalgic as heck...I haven't seen this interface in about 6 years. Some of my old memories mean I can still navigate without thinking, yet it's hard getting used to having English on there and seeing all these swords I didn't get way back when (I jumped ship not long after Fudou Yukimitsu's debut, due to the game being too annoying to wrangle at that point). Still, having an English-language Touken Ranbu is a real dream...one I never thought I'd ever live to see.

Anyways, that was a bit of a ramble. I was making this post because I wanted to do a lil' matching game between Touken Ranbu and Hypnosis Mic...(Maybe it's the basis for an AU...? It would make for some cool fanart though!)

Notes:

Consult the Touken Ranbu wiki if you must to understand this.

Unlike my other AUs, the links between swords and HypMic characters are a lot harder to establish because it's an intersection of two fandoms, rather than broad ideas that can be tied to the Hypnosis Mic canon. Therefore, if this post seems a lot vaguer and half-assed than other similar posts, then that's why.

Ichiro: Urashima. He's the connective tissue between the Kotetsu brothers, much like Ichiro is.

Jiro: Nagasone, to complete the trio between Urashima and Hachisuka. (I was going to give Jiro Urashima at first, but Nagasone and Hachisuka are at odds with each other, so it makes more sense for this dynamic to play out.)

Saburo: Hachisuka. A vain sword with gold armour seems appropriate for a child who tries to act mature for his age.

(Alternatively, give Ichiro Ichigo Hitofuri, Jiro Atsushi and Saburo Maeda.)

Samatoki: Ookanehira. I don't know much about him, but reading his horsekeeping lines makes me think I got the right choice.

Jyuto: I think the way Tsurumaru is characterised - slightly haughty but still willing to surprise people for fun - matches Jyuto's personality quite well.

Riou: Mutsunokami. Both are gun wielders.

Ramuda: Midare. Both like to emphasise cuteness, rather than manliness. (Bonus for the fact Ramuda's voice actor is Io and Midare is Yumoto from Boueibu.)

(Alternatively, give him Hotarumaru or Houchou. I can see them getting along well together.)

Gentaro: As a poet, Kasen would understand Gentaro's creative struggles well.

Dice: Monoyoshi. It makes sense that a sword known for bringing good luck would accompany a gambler.

Jakurai: Juzumaru. The two look similar and have a similar aesthetic, so I couldn't help it, really.

(Jakurai would also pair well with Yagen, I think.)

Hifumi: Houchou, both to match Doppo and because Hifumi could learn from Houchou's love of women...even if those women are married...

(Alternatively, I can see jacket on!Hifumi being compatible with Kashuu or Izuminokami.)

Doppo: Hakata, because both are "Japanese business[men]" (...sort of?).

Sasara: Shishiou, since there's the pun name of "CCO" for the sword, plus shishitou. Shishiou also laughs a lot, so I think the two would be compatible.

Rosho: I think he'd relate to Yamanbagiri's struggles well, or alternatively he could counsel Yamanbagiri.

Rei: Nihongou. They'd get drunk and get into trouble together, LOL.

(Alternatively, Kogarasumaru, since they're older in comparison to the rest.)

Kuko: I think he and Yamabushi would get along, as fellow devout Buddhists.

Jyushi: Gokotai. The two would learn about courage from each other.

Hitoya: I think the way Otegine says "I am one of the three Great Spears" almost seems reminiscent of Hitoya's "There are two things I hate...". Also, the way Otegine goes on about stabbing is reminiscent of Hitoya's inferiority complex in comparison to Jakurai.

Lemme preface this by saying that I totally agree with both those statements themselves anons. Moonlight Shadow is simply that good!! So this is going to be a bit of a ramble lmao

Maybe this is just my bias shining through but god do I love this song. It's so over the top, but in the best way possible! I don't really listen to vkei so idk if it sounds like vkei (I did see that they got a vkei band to compose it though so that's cool!), but I do think it fits his character perfectly! It has a dark atmosphere to it imo, and that laugh he does in the beginning is just...*chef's kiss.* Instantly pulled me in and immersed me in the song. Honestly, I'm pretty sure this song is also one of the reasons why Jyushi's is my favorite of the entire franchise.

Plus, I really enjoy how they just throw you into the song without an intro or warning! Besides, the live performance itself during the 2nd drb absolutely had me pumped and I'm pretty sure I was high on adrenaline as Yuki Sakakihara gave such a stellar performance!! Honestly, Moonlight Shadow is one of those songs that when I listen to it, I simply cannot listen to it only once. I repeat it a few times before moving on because that's how much I love it

And I truly can hear Jyushi's vow to himself to get stronger and become a better person in his mind! I like to think of it as his intro as a character and first step towards his journey? Idk it sounds that way to me, especially with the chorus and lyrics and all. It does make me feel a bit somber as he talks about his bullying and all, but at the same time, I absolutely love how it shows his commitment to changing himself and shows how he's stepping towards the future! Ah it makes me love his character even more!

Best hypmic solo imo, no arguments at all. And since this song was a blessing and gifted from God himself as anon said, I shall refrain from giving it a numerical value. It simply wouldn't do the song justice

Day 20 Bonus: Bad Ass Temple vs Matenrou

I’m just going in order of the battle dates at this point. And I’m just going to go from the music to the character stuff again because I feel it would just get long again. Look, I wanted to go for Bad Ass Temple. Sometimes you want to hope for an underdog. However when it comes to style...I just couldn’t get into BAT as much. Which is a shame because they have the same foundation of their team as MTR and going in the fight a similar way. But in terms of the individual songs, they’re actually pretty even. I didn’t have many songs that I really liked from either side besides One, Two, Law and Black or White.

I feel this is also the time that I have to say, with music a lot of the time, I’m basing it only as music. It’s lyrics and the like are secondary and mainly used to like inch any song forward if I was truly stuck. So sound wise, it’s been all over the place. Between having flashbacks to high school with Jyushi and feel like I’m being taken to church by Jakurai...it’s been a time. But of course the ones I like are the ones that are ultimately the ones about more mundane stuff I guess?

And with the group songs...I had to grow to like Kaigen. It’s just a personal thing with slow build up songs, I don’t usually have patience for them which is why I usually like fast paced songs over ballads (there’s always exceptions). But when you get to it though, it is good. I won’t deny that. (Yosh, Jyushi part and then him going off, is such a fuck yeah moment!) Well, Kirei, Kaigen is more fast paced than Tomoshibi, what gives? There’s always exceptions. One is that Tomoshibi doesn’t have as slow a build and that it caught my heart without me knowing what’s going on. Like a lot of my initially crying over Tomoshibi was over how it SOUNDS, not their lyrics. Also it’s slow but not ballad slow.

Which then brought us to the actual battle. And they would not make us wait. I was gut punched when they let Jakurai and Hitoya go from right out the gate. Anyone else notice how they mirrored each other’s final line of defeating the other with everything they have? Shivers! I initially wondered why these two were put together to fight but it makes sense after Light & Shadow because they have essentially the same ultimate desire of finding safety and growth with their teams but how they go about it is very different. Neither of them are wrong but it’s a matter of the clash between those difference.

If I had one thing that threw me so thoroughly in this battle though was Hitoya. Like I bet he was the real threat of BAT and I don’t feel I was wrong. But his angle was way different from what I was expecting. Like it seemed like his perspective changed before the 2nd DRB happened. Which ends up coming up really strange, at least for me, in this battle. Because HE is the one that initiated a fight with MTR by challenging Jakurai and was determined to take him down. Not that he still isn’t but he’s already had his chance of reflecting and changed why he’s fighting Jakurai from wanting to drag him down from his high horse to wanting to do this as a challenge against himself. Which isn’t bad, it just makes for a strange dynamic when it felt like it was set up for settling this grudge and he settled it himself before even getting on stage.

As for the rest of the battle, I don’t have as many memorable lines as they go so fast in this one. It’s a lot easier to lose them but considering this track was designed like a final boss encounter, I guess that’s to be expected. But overall...I just felt like Kuko and Jyushi were too...not that they didn’t take it serious but too green to this kind of scene? Like it reminds me of Jiro and Saburo in War War War except I think Kuko and Jyushi delivered some great lines such as ‘you’ve been so shaved off by society, there’s nothing left of you.’ But they also didn’t seem to hit with me? Although I guess there is a small bias there as like...I feel weird hearing them say ‘middle-aged men’ when I’m not that much younger than Hifumi or Doppo. And know that it’s really not that old...it reminds me of my younger sister.

Lyric wise, it felt like they were fighting two completely different ways and I don’t know how it worked out honestly for me. Like I’m really glad for the sound because a lot of it...wasn’t nonsensical but just didn’t feel like they were going at the same thing. Like MTR didn’t even seem to really focus on beating down on their opponents whereas BAT did. And it makes for such a weird confrontation. So I basically defaulted to what I usually do with the music and go with how I feel from the music and I felt MTR through it. To me, I felt more passion from their delivery and also I’d be lying if I I was living through Hifumi’s haughty laugh, Kuko’s roll of words and Doppo’s screaming (how does Itou-san do it???).

So yeah, MTR got me with music.

I said I did the character thing because it’d be shorter to do the music...I didn’t realize I had to so much to say about the music until I was writing. I’m so sorry that this just ends up being super long as I add the character/story aspects...which honestly I guess would be shorter because in the grand scheme both BAT and MTR just have a lot less to lose of going against other teams. Which could be argued is their charm but I don’t know if that alone could save them from future shenanigans to happen in this DRB. But let’s get to the team stuff

BAT vs DH would have to be the most even chance music wise for both teams because they’re new to this battle season. Although I am absolutely terrified of what kind of sound would come from mixing their sounds together. I’m sure all the talented folks behind the DRB music can do it...I just can’t imagine it. I can’t really think of the conflicts here since for the most part they don’t know each other outside of Kuko and Sasara being in MCD for a time.

BAT vs BB would be a chance to make the ‘koi yo Bad Ass,’ ‘Ou yo Bus Bros’ from Division Battle Anthem+ come true. I’ve hung onto that direct call out since I’ve heard it. There should be answers to their fall out. Ichiro didn’t forget it and feels like Kuko had to have some kind of revelation with it. This would be the chance to resolve this. Meanwhile I also entertain that this iust good hearted fun of like Ichiro, Kuko, Jyushi and Jiro all being around the same age and just being boys having fun. All the while, Hitoya is groaning as he pulls out another set of adoption papers.

BAT vs FP...I can’t think of anything really since they haven’t had any real connection outside of Ramuda--and I think it was OUR Ramuda--thinking Kuko was too irrelevant for his plans. What a kick that’d be for Kuko to be like ‘so, I heard you were talking shit!’

BAT vs MTC, I also have a problem seeing as much of an issue. Outside of Hitoya trying to not have a whole ass conniption. He needs to bring like most of these bastards to court. And also dadtoya because he would not want to drag Kuko and Jyushi around these guys. I fear of Jyuto eating Jyushi alive. Although there could be a slight chance of anger from Samatoki towards Kuko because he’s one of the few people that know the extent of Kuko’s abrupt departure left with Ichiro and even if he doesn’t forgive Ichiro, I don’t think that erases that nasty taste in his mouth.

And then to reverse around with MTR vs DH, I still think of it being more light-hearted of Hifumi and Doppo being like an accidental rival manzai to Sasara and Rosho. And just ending up petty over it. Watch Hifumi insult Sasara’s suit, ohmygod Hifumi can you not--And meanwhile I’m pretty sure Rei knows that Chuuoku is trying to use Jakurai’s rap ability and I can’t tell if he’s interested in how it goes or if he’d stop it. Because Rei I feel has less hesitance in doing extremes to eliminate what’s in his way. Be that incapacitating Jakurai’s ability or Jakurai himself or ruining Jakurai in a way that he can’t help...that’s all doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility for Rei to me.

MTR vs BB would also be a lighter affair as it just seems like bros just going against each other as I don’t know, I think MTR has a softer spot for BB than all the other teams. And to BB it’s like going against dad because I will die on the dadkurai hill.

MTR vs MTC is rematch REMATCH. DEATH RESPECT PART II. Let’s get it. But yeah outside of sore feelings from last time, I don’t think it’d be as bad as last time. It’s really a ‘nothing personal but you’re in my way’ sort of thing. There is a meeting for the anti-Honobono club that goes on, maybe? Maybe there could be some bad blood if Samatoki knew about Jakurai thinking of helping Chuuoku with perfecting the thing that, at least for a long time in his head, took Nemu from him.

But unsurprisingly most that would happen is if they did MTR vs FP. Because on one hand, it’s a REMATCH and one I’d personally love because their rap battle was my favorite. But they have the most story threads. I glossed it in the previous but it’s a chance for collaboration or using the other team if Honobono came up. Such as FP throwing MTR at her to distract her from getting Ramuda. They’re cutthroat enough to do it. Or if they could see past their rivalry and work together to save both of their sides from this mutual threat. I think this would be a time for Ramuda and Jakurai to REALLY go at each other.

Because despite their disdain of each other, I don’t think they hate each other as they like to proclaim. Chuuoku seems to know this feeling on Jakurai’s end as they dangle Ramuda’s well-being in front of him time and time again. Even if he can’t get along with Ramuda, he sure as fuck doesn’t want him DEAD. And it seems to get forgotten but Ramuda IS Jakurai’s MENTOR, the person that taught him to survive in the new direction of the world. Even if this was orchestrated, that bond still exists. And it’s not one-sided because I can’t imagine Ramuda being pleased with Jakurai willingly going with the bitches that made his life hell. He’d be pissed as to how Jakurai could roll over to them (as he might perceive) and his effort to keep Jakurai from them failing.

Phew...done...with the thing. But yeah in terms of like story/character....mmm, yeah that would have to go to MTR too. I really don’t feel like it’s BAT fault. I just think they’re at a disadvantage for coming new to a battle season.

But my final thoughts!

As you can see from above, I want BB, M, and FP to win. I only realized that I just needed Samatoki in there to be TDD haha Honestly a bit disappointing that I didn’t but lemme explain myself for my reasons.

While I do love the new divisions (I’m a hard DH fan tbh lol), I mostly wanted to focus on how it would affect the story and then the group’s performance. Since the start, before the lives, I wanted to support BB, M, and MTC. As you can see, It’s been changed from MTC to FP X”D

(Black Journey is too powerful imo it has me rolling every time. Though ramuda’s first beginning aprt definitely caught me off guard and that lil intro had me laughing. That chorus??? Freaking <3<3)

Buster Bros, I think I only got around to talk about the first two groups never the next two pfft. As much as I would like to see our favorite comedy duo win, I really want them to beat their father and get a sense of victory as well. I won’t forget the fact that they were the first to go first DRB rip Re:Start is ultimately better than Wara Osaka in my opinion, even if its tacky dance lives rent free in my mind and I think about them often lol. Jiro’s Aniki is going to take some time to get used to, but I think that development (all of them, save Ichiro tbh ??) in the drama track has pulled my heartstrings and they’re adorable.

Hmm, honestly when it does come to M vs BAT, my sibling has had me conflicted many times. (She’s also the one that converted me from MTC to FP blame her lol) It’s true- if BB is going to win, wouldn’t we want a Naughty Busters like reunion? If we aren’t going to get it from DH and MTC that is. Kaigen and RIP are also superb compared to Tomoshibi... (it was a good song I swear- just come on, BAT had more energy this time around XD It fit the hype I was looking for in the 2nd DRB) Rip for Kuko’s scream that isn’t in the actual recording only in the live ashdjkk. If he doesn’t do that future lives still Imma be sad lmao. Anyways I don’t think the “champions” should just go afterwards either. Also les make that inferior complex worse ehhhhh jkjk Also, overall I just feel like M’s popularity and that Drama track might secure them that win. I think the plot might be cleaner then?? Of course, it’s all debatable and Im sure that if either team won, the story could still develop just fine.

Dear goodness, Jyuuto’s part in Hunting Charm actually haunts me. Anyways, Fp doesn’t deserve to lose, what was that one joke floating around about the pink one getting it. Please. Just let them trick or treat form other clones, he doesn’t deserve this ajhsjkkk While as much as I think Samatoki deserves that win and revenge for Nemu (Also potentially meeting her?? But ig he doesn’t have to win to have that opportunity) I feel that FP’s stronger bond and passion to live might push them for that win.

As for the versus songs themselves-

I’ll be honest, for the amount of hype that I had for the 2nd DRB, DhvsBB disappointed me... In the sense of energy of course- I still find it a heckin good bop. But I think what I wanted was just them spitting fire at each other, just fire XDD It was cute- their lil manzai and joking, but I think it would’ve been cooler to throw heat in there. Seemed more to DH’s vibe than a mixed battle vibe.

Now the other two songs, much like the past DRB songs were LIT. I absolutely loved them. That banger part in Reason to Fight that makes me throw my hands in the air to go with the beat (Yall know it lol) is killer. Doppo’s scream -beautiful as always (but also Jyushi’s and kuko’s lol)- including just the raw energy I felt from Light Shadow was absolutely phenomenal.

I honestly wish there was more anger(?) in Dh and Bb But I also get why it didn’t lol Either way, although they're like my top favorite divisions, that’s my reasoning. I’d chat about the Drama tracks too, but tbh I haven’t seen the translations yet so I don’t wanna spread misconceptions lol

This has gone long enough- Imma try and throw up some more art of hypmic though. I had this done a couple days ago but just wanted to post it anyways. You can sort of tell the rush because while I made some of the top transparent I didn’t erase the overlay LOL

while jyushi was a clingy boy, he wasn’t used to be on the receiving end of affection. that’s just how it was with you and him — he always initiated kisses or cuddle sessions, and you never minded. it was just how you two worked, the dynamic that the both of you shared.

you decided to change that up today. you both often had dates around the streets of nagoya, shopping for makeup or clothes (that usually jyushi ended up buying for himself), or taking cute pictures together in cafes. you were always spotted in the crowds whenever he had concerts or live gigs. jyushi even sometimes dragged you along whenever he went to go visit hitoya. the two of you were inseparable.

it was midnight and you crashed at jyushi’s place after one of his shows. while he loved taking care of and pampering you, you decided to return the favor. he was drained, immediately returning to his childish self after you took him back home. wrapping his arms around you, you quickly ushered him into the bathroom to clean himself up, following after him.

pushing his bangs back and wiping his face with a makeup wipe, you quickly planted a kiss on his forehead saying words of praise that he often got flustered at. grabbing his cheeks, you flashed him a toothy smile at how flustered he began to look. jyushi truly was a different person underneath his narcissistic persona.

jyushi whines as you plant another kiss on his cheek, trying to pull away to hide his red face. you only laugh at him, “jyushi~ i’m just trying to take care of you! stop hiding your face!”

another whine escapes his lips, you’re certainly affectionate today. just as he’s about to retort back, you quickly plant your lips atop his own. jyushi’s hesitant, but shyly returns the kiss. he’s sitting on the edge of the tub so you carefully straddle him, wrapping your arms around your neck as his hands rest atop your waist.

jyushi accidentally lets out a moan, and he quickly pulls away to bury his hot face in your neck. you laugh at his excitement.

“it’s not fair…” jyushi mumbles, “stop making fun of me…” you only coo at him, deciding against laughing at him again as you feel something… rather stiff poke against your thigh.

“fine, fine~ let’s take a bath together, jyushi. i’ll take care of you.”
