An Hour Till Showtime

One hour. All he had to do was wait one hour until he got to see you. Jyushi’s foot was tapping erratically and he knew he was probably stressing his hair stylist out with how often he was dragging his hands through his hair. But he couldn’t help himself.
When Jyushi first started visual kei, he would get nervous like this all the time. Sometimes it would get so bad, he’d throw up. But he learned to hide it behind overconfidence, bordering on arrogance. However, now he felt like a scared little kid once again. All he needed was a text, or better yet, he needed to see you again. But you weren’t responding to him. It was making his nerves go crazy.
He lifted his hand to run it through his hair again when he heard a strained sigh. His hair stylist was watching him. With an awkward half smile, he dropped his hand and his gaze. Jyushi then began to fiddle with his phone. Perhaps he should text you again, to make sure you were really coming. You said you’d be here. It would be the first time you’d see him perform in his band in person. As excited as he was to see you in the audience, he was also scared to death you weren’t going to come. He checked the time on his phone.
Fifty minutes. Time was going so slow. Perhaps he could send one more text, just a quick check-in to see where you were and if you were still coming. Sure, Jyushi had already sent over twenty unanswered texts already and he called at least five times, but one more little check couldn’t hurt. So he sent one, asking if you were still on your way.
As he waited for your response, he tapped his foot incessantly, like the rhythmic tapping of a drummer. Where were you? Usually you were so good at texting him back. Why weren’t you responding this time? Were you okay? Were you lying dead in a ditch somewhere? Did he need to come find you?
Or did you think that if you ignored him and pretended like tonight didn’t exist, you wouldn’t have to come? Did you think he forgot you were coming? No, you couldn’t be thinking that. He had tried to contact you for an hour already! He had hoped you would be here early so he could show you around, introduce you to the band, and talk so you could calm his worries.
But you weren’t here and it was really stressing him out!
Jyushi wanted to be angry with you. He wanted to call you and tell you how much he hated what you were doing to him. But he was more scared than anything. Something was wrong. He could feel it in his gut. He couldn’t help but think that this was your less-than subtle way of telling him you didn’t like him as much as he liked you. He thought you were friends! How could you do this to him! How could you break his heart like this!
He could feel tears well in his eyes and, in an effort to will them away, he glanced at the clock above the mirror before him.
Forty-five minutes. His phone vibrated, alerting him that someone texted.
It was from you.
‘I am so sorry I’m just now seeing your messages! I should have been paying more attention! Yes, I am on my way right now. I promise I’ll be there before you know it, so don’t you worry. See you soon!’
Jyushi had to read it over a couple of times before he finally allowed himself to breathe a sigh of relief. It was real. You were coming. You were on your way in fact. He had nothing to worry about. You’d be here soon and everything would be okay. You would finally get to see him perform the first time in person.
A new wave of anxiety crashed over him. Wait, you were going to see him perform for the first time in person! What if he messed up? What if he tripped over his own feet? What if he sang the wrong part, his voice cracked, or he forgot to sing at all? Could he handle the humiliation that would come after it? As tears welled in his eyes, he shook his head and thought he couldn’t. Hearing you mock or even pity him for any mistake would be too much to bear. It would be like back in middle school, when everyone made fun of him. He couldn’t go back to that. He couldn’t hear it from you.
He started to dab at his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket before he felt someone place a hand on his shoulder. It was his stylist. She was handing him a handkerchief. Though she looked slightly annoyed, she still had an encouraging smile on her face.
“Chin up, kid. You’re going to do great tonight.”
“Are you sure?” His voice wobbled.
She nodded. “I’ve heard you sing. You’re really good. I’m sure whoever you’re trying to impress tonight is going to be blown out of the water as soon as they hear you.”
Jyushi let a small smile break through as he finished collecting the stray tears with the handkerchief. “Thank you. I really needed to hear that.”
Taking the handkerchief back, she sighed. “I’ll be back in twenty minutes to touch up your makeup again. Try not to let it run too much, okay?”
He nodded. “I’ll try. Thank you again.”
As she left, he glanced back at the clock.
Thirty minutes. There was a knock at the door.
Jyushi practically sprinted to the door. You were here! Finally! He was so worried-
“Yo, Jyushi!”
He tried to not let his face fall upon seeing Kuko and Hitoya. He was glad they were here. But they weren’t you. The least he could do was be polite while they were here and not know how disappointed he was it wasn’t you.
Hitoya heavily clapped his hand on his shoulder. “You look good, kid. And I’m sure you’re going to sing just as good.”
“Ah, thanks Hitoya.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.” Kuko stated, all matter-of-fact like as he casually walked around the green room. “I’ve never seen you sing visual kei live. I’ll be the one to judge if you’re really as good as Hitoya says you are.”
Right. Kuko had never seen him live either. But he didn’t think it was a big deal, as he had heard him rap on stage as a member of Bad Ass Temple. So it didn’t matter that he was here. You’ve never heard him sing or rap before. That’s why he cared so much about your opinion about the concert.
“Where’s your little friend?” Hitoya asked. “Didn’t you say they would be here?”
“They’re running a little late.”
He nodded though he made a face. “You know, there are two things I don’t appreciate in life. One, clothes that don’t fit properly and two, lateness. Have you tried talking to them?”
“Yeah. They’re on their way. I’m sure it’ll be fine.” He tried to assure him.
“It doesn’t look fine.” Kuko called out, flopping onto one of the couches in the green room. “Or is your makeup supposed to look that runny?”
Jyushi’s hands flew to his face. His stylist did mention his makeup was smudged, but he didn’t think it was that big of a deal! Did he really look that bad? One look in the mirror confirmed his makeup was more ruined than he anticipated.
“Oh.”
Hitoya shook his head before smacking Kuko upside the head. “It’s not that bad. Your stylist can fix it I’m sure. But you do seem worried.”
He tried to appear nonchalant like Kuko. “It’s nothing. It’s just, this is their first time seeing me perform live. I don’t want to mess up.”
“I understand. But you’re good at what you do. I wouldn’t have encouraged you to pursue this dream if I didn’t think you could do it. All you have to do is show them how much music means to you. Sing from the bottom of your heart and they’ll understand. Does that make sense?”
With the way Hitoya was talking about things, Jyushi supposed it was that easy. Still, the nervous butterflies swarming in his stomach wouldn’t cease. He was scared to death of failing in front of you. He didn’t want to ruin his already fragile reputation in front of you.
Hitoya seemed to pick up on the fact that there was more to the situation than he was letting on because he asked. “What are you really afraid of?”
As he tried to avoid eye contact, he looked at the clock.
Twenty minutes. He told them everything. How he really, really, really liked you and how his intense feelings scared him. How he wanted tonight to be perfect because then maybe you’d like him as much as he liked you. How if all went well, he’d be more confident to ask you out in the future.
Kuko laughed and Hitoya smacked him upside the head again for it. He then said, “Look, kid, you’re putting too much pressure on this concert. They’re going to like you know matter what you do. You’re pretty special, you know? So just do your best.”
“Yeah, it’s not like you can screw up so bad that they hate you forever.” Kuko added, earning a cold glare from Hitoya.
“But what if-”
He shook his head. “Don’t even entertain the what ifs. Just go out there and shine like fourteen moons.”
A dusting of pink colored his pale cheeks. “You really think I can do this? I won’t ruin everything with a bad show?”
“Not at all. It’ll take more than just one flop concert for someone to stop liking you, I promise.” To seal his words, he crossed his heart.
Jyushi gave a small smile. “Thanks. I appreciate it.”
“You’re welcome.” Standing up, Hitoya clapped his hands together. “Well, we’ll let you get ready for your show. C’mon Kuko. We gotta go.”
“Aww, c’mon old timer! I just got comfortable.” He nestled deeper into the couch cushions and Jyushi had to stifle a giggle.
Hitoya rolled his eyes and grabbed him by the ear. “We’re going, now.”
“Ow, ow, ow! Okay! Jeez!” Before leaving, he said, “See ya out there Jyushi.”
“Bye.” He mumbled, watching them leave and the door clicking shut behind them. He let out a sigh.
Even though he was grateful to speak to them before the concert, he was still worried. What if they were wrong? What if you didn’t even show up? What if he did mess up and you never wanted to see him again? He knew he shouldn’t be getting hung up on the what ifs, but he couldn’t help himself. It was just like him to worry over the smallest of things.
The door opened again and in walked his stylist. She had all her makeup with her, prompting him to get back in the makeup chair. As she set up, she told him how much time until the concert.
Fifteen minutes.
“I saw your friends were here earlier.” She said as she set up. “I hope they gave you some words of encouragement.”
Jyushi shrugged. “They tried.”
She sighed. “Look, kid, you’re going to be just fine. I’ve heard you sing. You’re really good. Just don’t get too into your head and let it all out on the stage, okay? Everything will all work out in the end.”
For some reason, her words lifted a little more of the weight on his chest. Maybe that’s all he needed: the bluntness of a third party. Sure Kuko could be to the point and a little aggressive, but he was still a friend that Jyushi cared about. And he did care about his stylist, but she didn’t know him as well as Hitoya and Kuko did. Her words carried a different kind of weight. And he appreciated it.
“Well, you look better now.” She mused. “And it’s not just because I’m redoing your makeup for the third time tonight. You’re sitting straighter and there’s less worry clouding your eyes. So that’s good to see.”
Looking deep into the mirror, he could see she was right. He didn’t look as anxious as he did before. He was still worried like crazy, but it seemed he was slipping into his confident persona without noticing. It made him smile a little. At least he could protect his heart this way. No matter what happened tonight, his friends and his stylist believed in him. He would be just fine, even if you didn’t like what you saw or heard.
A snap of an eyeshadow case jolted him out of his thoughts. “You look perfect now. So don’t mess it up, got it?”
Her scolding held a teasing lilt which made him chuckle. “I’ll be okay now.”
“Good.” She nodded before adding, “Would you like me to tell the rest of your band you are ready?”
“Yes please.”
Before she left, she said, “Really, it’s going to be a great night tonight. I can feel it.”
That made one of them. But he didn’t let it show. He was fully absorbed into the confident and arrogant Jyushi now. Nothing could bring him down until after the show.
He stood up and adjusted his outfit. After doing one last check in the mirror to make sure he looked as perfect as his stylist said, he nodded. He was ready. He glanced at the clock before heading out.
Five minutes.
Backstage, he saw the other members of ArgoξOrchestra waiting for him. They smiled when they saw him and he returned it.
“You ready?” Genichi asked.
He nodded. “Ready as I’ll ever be.”
“Good. This is one of our biggest crowds yet so everyone needs to try their best tonight, okay?”
Everyone nodded and put their hands into the center of the circle. Jyushi’s hand was on top. He smiled, ready to take the stage.
“Let’s give it our all and rock the place down!” Genichi shouted. “Let’s do this thing!”
“ArgoξOrchestra, standby!” The stage director called as everyone got to their places. Jyushi was front and center. He took a deep breath to calm the last of his nerves.
One minute.
He peeked through the curtain. There you were. Right in the front. He let out a breath of relief.
“Let’s do this.”

For a request - having tea with Jakurai? Possibly romantic, afab reader.
Summary: Jakurai harbors feelings for you. What better way to confess than over tea?
Pairing: Jakurai Jinguji X Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Drabble
Word Count: 867
Warning: N/A

A/N: Thank you so much for your request! I love getting HypMic requests and this one was so cute! I hope you like it! I really enjoyed writing it!
Tumblr media
It was Jakurai's idea to invite you over for tea. He had gotten a lot closer to you in the past few weeks and he really wanted to get to know more about you. Of course, when Hifumi caught wind of the doctor's plans, he tried to plan the whole affair. But Jakurai was firm in his insistence that he would handle this little tea party on his own. Though he pouted, Hifumi did ask to be filled in on all the details afterwards, which he agreed to as an attempt to pacify him.
Before you arrived, Jakurai made sure his apartment was spotless. He picked the best dishes, made tasty little treats, and brewed his best blend of tea. A wave of anxiety rushed over him and he wasn't quite sure as to why. Eventually, he chalked it up to just being anxious over spending time with someone he didn't know a lot about and wanting to make a good impression so they could continue their relationship.
When you knocked on the door, he warmly welcomed you. You returned his greeting with a bright smile that seemed to glow in the afternoon sun. Your smile and your gorgeous spring dress made his heart skip a beat. That's when he realized where the anxiety was actually coming from. He was interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with you, and today's meeting would decide whether or not you'd be compatible with each other.
You complimented his apartment, mentioning how you liked the decor and how welcoming the atmosphere seemed. He thanked you and directed you to where you would be having tea. You perched on one of his easy chairs, and Jakurai couldn't help but imagine you always sitting there, claiming it as your spot. You were sitting in the perfect place where the sun softly shone on your hair and you could see everything in the room without too much effort. It was the optimal spot for comfort and functionality. He wanted you to use that chair every time you came over.
After pouring you a cup of tea, you complimented the taste and smell of the brew. He explained how he got such a fragrant and sweet tea by combining his favorite tea leaves and getting the right measurements to make the perfect cup of tea. You listened intently, even leaning in as if what he was saying was the most fascinating thing in the world. He couldn't help but become completely enamored with you. He knew right then and there, he was sunk.
Eventually, the topic of conversation moved on to your work and how things were going at your job. It was Jakurai's turn now to listen to you with fascination. He found he wasn't bored with what you were discussing, even if you yourself did. He liked the sound of your voice. It was pleasing to the ear and just the right amount of animation. He was truly smitten by you and he didn't want this lovely tea party to end.
It wasn't until the sun was getting low in the sky that you decided to call it a night. Halfway through the tea party, when the tea had run dry, you both switched to coffee. While Jakurai himself wasn't a fan, he was pleasantly surprised to see you liked both coffee and tea. Though it wasn't that big of a deal, to him it felt like an intimate detail about you. He now knew how you took your tea and your coffee, meaning he could make you a drink and know exactly how you liked it.
Now, Jakurai is a gentleman, so of course he insisted on walking you home. You only lightly protested, but allowed him to nonetheless. Again, the two of you talked about anything and everything under the sun as you walked to your apartment. He loved engaging conversation. You always knew exactly what to say. He couldn't help but wonder if this was what falling in love felt like. Regardless of if it was or not, he knew he never wanted to let go.
When you reached your apartment, you shyly bid him good night but did not go in. It was as if you were waiting for something. And he was waiting for it too. So he came right out and said it.
"My dear, would you be willing to go out on a date with me next week?"
"Why, Dr. Jakurai. I thought you'd never ask!"
With that, you pressed a soft, pleasant kiss to his cheek, bid him good night once more, and slipped into your apartment building.
Jakurai, on the other hand, was frozen on the steps. His hand went to his cheek to lightly trace where your lips had just been. He didn't expect that. It seems you were still full of surprises with him. And he wanted to experience all of the surprises you had to offer for the rest of his life.
So with a self-contented smile, Jakurai began to walk back to his apartment, thinking of all the different date spots he could take you. And of course, as soon as he arrived home, he told Hifumi and Doppo everything.

making out with ramuda pls pls (feel free to ignore if you want)
Summary: Ramuda is working hard and you're feeling lonely. He needs to take a break with you.
Pairing: Amemura Ramuda X G/N!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Drabble
Word Count: 818
Warning: Making out
Masterlist
A/N: Thank you so much for requesting! I had a lot of fun writing this! I hope you love it as much as I do!
Tumblr media
Ramuda had to taste like candy. You were sure of it. Every time you saw him, he was eating some kind of candy, so you were certain if you kissed him, he would taste exactly like sugary candy. Of course, you never told him of your suspicions. But you were determined to figure it out, some way, somehow.
Currently, you were sitting across the room from him in his studio. He was hunched over his drawing board, trying to come up with the next piece in his collection. He always looked so handsome when he was seriously designing like this. You couldn't help but feel attracted to him. And that is exactly why you wanted to put your hypothesis to the experimental test.
"Ramuda?"
He hummed in response, his eyes still stuck on the page before him as he sketched more.
"Can you take a five minute break? Please?"
This time he looked at you, his neon pink bangs brushing over his furrowed brows. "A break? Why? Am I boring you? That's a very mean thing for you to say!"
You shook your head. "Not exactly. If anything, I'm trying to look out for you. I mean that hunched position you're in cannot be comfortable!"
He chuckled and stretched. "I suppose you're right. I guess I can take a little break."
Smiling, you beckoned for him to join you on the couch you were sitting on. Ramuda happily skipped over and threw his arms around you, cuddling close to your side. You giggled and pressed your cheek to the top of his head.
"This is nice. You're warm." He told you, glancing up at you with sparkling eyes.
"Thank you." You nod before biting your lip. How does one go about asking someone they weren't dating that you wanted to kiss them just so you could see if they really did taste like candy?
He noticed your hesitation and frowned. "What's wrong? You have frown lines and a pretty face like yours should not be marred with lines."
You ease your face into a neutral expression before shrugging. "I have a favor to ask of you but I'm afraid you're going to think I'm crazy for asking it."
Ramuda shook his head frantically, sitting up straight. "We're all crazy, sweets. I don't think any favor you ask of me could be so wild that I would judge you for it."
"Can I kiss you?"
You were afraid he'd laugh right in your face, especially since a smile quickly overcame. However, he adjusted how he was sitting on the couch and put his hands on your face.
"Yep, definitely not crazy."
And with that, he pressed his lips to yours. It was a sweet little peck, but it wasn't enough to tell if he tasted like candy. As he pulled away, you frowned and chased his lips. It was your turn to take control of the kiss. As you deepened it, he let out a squeak of surprise against your lips. You simply smiled. It wasn't often someone caught the great Ramuda Amemura off-guard, and you were glad you could.
But you were more pleased with the kiss. Yep, he definitely tasted like candy. It was sweet and sticky, like tootsie pop. He tasted like fruit and chocolate all at once. The more you kissed, the more you could feel yourself slip into a sugar rush. What started as something sweet and slow, turned frenzied and eager. You were hungry for the candy on his lips. And he was more than happy to oblige.
You didn't realize it at the moment, but Ramuda had gently pulled you on top of him as he laid down on the couch. His hands tangled themselves in your hair, while yours held yourself up on either side of his face. Every so often, his eyes would open to see yours still tightly closed as you kissed and he would smile before letting them slip close once more.
It was your turn to be caught off-guard when you felt his mouth open and his tongue coaxed itself into yours. You didn't stop him and he didn't stop you. If anything, you were even more excited because he tasted even more like candy. It was intoxicating and you couldn't get enough. You just wanted more and more and more...
Of course, your back was telling you otherwise as it began to ache from the hunched over position you were in to make out with him. You had to pull away. You were breathless and your lips were sore, but you knew at that moment that you were addicted. You would kiss him again, though you weren't sure when. And by the look in Ramuda's eye, you knew he would kiss you again too.
"Well." He breathed, a cocky grin on his bruised and wet lips. "I think that was more than a five minute break."

2:33 PM ~ *Jakurai Jinguji*
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Jakurai compete on the tennis court!
Pairing: Jakurai Jinguji X G/N!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Drabble
Word Count: 427
Warning: Jakurai is a little OOC but I think it makes him fun
Masterlist
You sighed, stretching your arms over your head. “What do you want to do today, Jakurai?”
He shrugged, looking through his date book. “I don’t know. What do you want to do?”
“Good question.”
Glancing over at you, he set his book down. “Well, what’s something we haven’t done in awhile?”
You shrugged this time. “Good question. I feel like we’ve done everything recently. Maybe that’s why we’re both so bored.”
He laughed. “Maybe. What about the botanical center? We haven’t been there in a week or so.”
“I suppose. Or we could just go downtown. They have new tennis courts. I’m in the mood to destroy you at tennis.”
“Oh?” One of his eyebrows perked up and a mischievous smile tugged at his lips. “Is that so? Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?”
“What do you have in mind?”
“One game. If you win, I have to say yes to whatever you say for twenty-four hours. If I win, you have to say yes to whatever I say for twenty-four hours.”
You purse your lips before returning his scheming smile. Taking his hand, you shook it firmly. “You have yourself a deal, doctor.”
“Game on.”
After changing into something you both could play in, the two of you went downtown to where the new courts were. You both warmed up before getting ready to start the game. As you bounced the ball, ready to serve, you called, “Standard rules, alright? And no cheating!”
“Fine. One game, the winner takes all.”
And so it began.
The score was tied throughout the whole game. It seemed every time one of you scored, the other answered back perfectly. It felt like the game was never going to end. But you didn’t care. You were having too much fun to care. It had been a while since you and Jakurai could indulge in a little friendly competition. The prize didn’t even matter anymore. You were just happy to be here.
Until one lucky serve and an excellent hit.
“I win!” You cheered as Jakurai scowled.
“You cheated!”
“I did not!” You gasped, offended.
He laughed. “Yes you did!”
“Did not!”
“Alright fine, you didn’t. Still, it was a good game.”
You nodded and shook his hand. “Yes, a good game indeed.”
Before he could pull his hand away, you yanked him in close. A devious smile graced your lips. “Be prepared for tomorrow. I have a plan for your Yes Day.”
“I’m going to regret this aren’t I?”
“You’ll just have to wait and see.”

I feel like Kuko would be so fun to mess with. And this story just proves it! Seeing him get annoyed and then turning the tables? It's so cute! I would love to annoy the crap out of him because I know he would give reactions just like this! Thank you for writing this! I really enjoyed reading it! It was super adorable!
Tumblr media
" Can't help it, you're fun to mess with. "
Kuko Harai x gn!reader
✧fluffy drabble, mild cursing
Tumblr media
" Hey, " You kneeled down beside him as he was meditating in the middle of the room, his eyes closed, not moving a muscle when you spoke. " Heyy, Kukoo, " You poked his cheek to which his face twitched slightly at the random action. " Hey! " You saw his brows furrow when you got louder with another poke to his cheek.
" The hell do you want?! " He opened his eyes, looking over at you. His meditation had gone out the window now. His arms crossed, his attention now on you and your smile. " You could have waited for me to finish first, you know! "
" Hmm. Well, I just kinda wanted your attention. " You poked his nose, to which he scrunched it up in response, swatting your hand away before you could poke at his face more.
" Again, coulda waited for me to be done, " He rolled his eyes at you, waiting a moment to see if you'd respond. When you didn't he spoke up again. " So? What'd you want otherwise? You gotta have some other reason for showin' up before this humble monk, yeah? "
" Not really. Just wanted to mess with you, " You gave him a playful smile, moving to kneel in front of his crossed legs. You poked your finger at his chest, looking at him. " Maybe get you out of some temple chores because they're just oh so terrible. " You teased.
" Damn right they are. Old man doesn't know when to lay off, " His hand went up and wrapped around your wrist, moving your finger off his chest. " And quit jabbin' at me. Shits annoyin', " You lifted your hand poking his cheek and he frowned at you. " That doesn't mean you do it again, dumbass! "
You couldn't help but laugh a little at his reaction as he moved his face away, giving you an angry face. " Sorryy~ " You apologized although it was clear that you weren't sorry at all. " Can't help it, you're fun to mess with. "
" Could say the same about you, " He huffed back, crossing his arms. " Like that one time when- " You leaped up, hands slapping over his mouth and you could feel his smirk growing as you narrowed your eyes at him, your cheeks going pink.
" Don't you say it, Kuko. " He pulled your hands down from his mouth, smirking at you.
" Whatt? You embarrassed? " He teased, leaning up to get closer to your face.
" Yes, actually! " You huffed, your face now sporting an angry, yet embarrassed, look at you stared back at his smug expression.
