Saji's Thoughts on Kanazawa Division

Saji looks at the photo of the old cop and sighs. "I know this old cop. I, unfortunately, got "acquainted" with him when he ran me in one night a few years back. It was a few months after I'd... lost someone close to me." Saji looks forlorn, but shakes it off, not wanting to think about it further. "Anyway, while I was wondering around, I stumbled into a bar not unlike the one where I met Vito and Yeong. Long story short, I went in there, started some trouble for no reason, and got arrested. And this was the guy who did the arresting."

"He wanted to put me away for good, but... I don't know. I guess he took pity on me or something, and just had me stay in a cell for the night until I, "learned to behave". What the hell did he think I was, five years old? Ever since then, I've been on his radar. I try not to get into any trouble when he's around. But I tell you, ever since we've met... it feels like I have a helicopter following me around."

Kyler Aaron

"Another American. And it sounds like he's acquainted with that guy from Okinawa. I wonder if he was sent here as protection. He certainly looks the part. But... from what I've gathered, it seems like he and that ambassador guy aren't exactly on friendly terms. Hell, he gets on better with the ambassador's girlfriend. It seems like he was only sent here because of the ambassador's father. Still, nice to meet another American who isn't prejudice against Japanese. The ambassador guy could learn from this guy."

Joey Kurusu

"Joey?" Saji looks a little surprised at the photo of the detective. "I was worried when I hadn't seen this guy in a while. If you're wondering how I know him, he was a frequent visitor at the underground fight clubs. No matter where we hosted them, he still always managed to show up. I remember he often got the crap beat out of him cause he was good at winning. A lot of people thought he was cheating, but he just knew who to bet on; namely, me."

"When he stopped showing up a few years ago, I was afraid someone had gone too far and killed him. I'm glad to see he's doing fine, but still, I'd never have thought he'd become a cop. Guess that just shows you never know what the future will hold."

Justice Shield

"A team of cops entering a rap tournament... I honestly don't know what to say about that. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against cops. But after dealing with that rabbit cop from Yokohama, let's just say I'm a bit wary of any guys wearing blue uniforms. Plus, in a city like Meguro, where crime isn't in short supply, the police can't really be counted on much. I mean, I know there are some good ones out there, but they are very hard to find."

"Anyway, I don't know about the American or Wataru-san, but Joey has got his work cut out for him, especially in a tournament like this. I'll be rooting for him, but once he reaches us, like the underground fighting rings, all bets are off."

"Unlike most CEOs, Master Mafuyu had a good relationship with the police in Tokyo and Meguro. I personally didn't know him, but he was especially on good relationships with Jotaro Sasaki, up until his death. Thus, he continued his friendly relations with his son, Wataru-san. I've only met the man a few times when he met with Master Mafuyu, but he always struck me as a man who would do his hardest to see that justice was done. I wonder if he was there at Master's funeral. It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to attend..."

Kyler Aaron

"An FBI agent. Sent here to guard the American ambassador, Ace Douglas, I presume. I've not met him, but he seems to be a stern man with a chip on his shoulder, much like the ambassador. All American men like that? At the very least, he doesn't seem to have a vendetta against Japan like his ambassador friend, which is fortunate. I understand the war left a lot of bad feelings between us, but I hope we can all get along with one another in the future."

Joey Kurusu

"I've seen this man around Meguro every once in a while. Saji-kun tells me he used to be an addictive gambler, much like Dice from Shibuya. Only difference is, this young man managed to see that it was leading him down a dark path and got treatment for it, which I'm happy with. Maybe I should ask him to go speak with Dice so he can get him some help before the kid gets himself hurt... or worse."

Justice Shield

"I'm a bit surprised that the Prime Minister let a team of law enforcement officials band together to create a team for the tournament. I'll admit, I'm a bit curious as to their reasoning for entering. ...Could it be there is something or someone that has malicious intentions for entering this tournament? I know that could be anyone, but if the threat is so serious that a group of officers joined, then it must be bad. We should be vigilant."

"Ah, the Overseer, himself! Gotta say, looking at this guy's record, he puts most cops to shame! He's accomplished more in his 38-year-career than most cops achieve in a single lifetime! I hear he and his team have personally asked Chuohku to join this tournament. At first, I thought they were nuts! But later, I found out its because there's someone with bad intentions involved in this D.R.B. If that's true, the old guy's got his work cut out for him. I wish him the best."

Kyler Aaron

"Ohh, another American. And this guy's an FBI agent too! Apparently, he's here to serve as a bodyguard for Ace Douglas, the American ambassador over in Okinawa. ...Doesn't look like the two of them get along so well, though. Not surprising. Suddenly having a bodyguard thrust upon you with no warning really sucks. Plus, it throws a damper on your normal activities. Sucks to be him!"

"I informed the higher-ups about this guy, and they advised that I be extremely careful. It's bad enough America is getting involved in this tournament. But if the FBI gets wind of what we're up too... well, it could cause trouble. Thankfully, he seems to be more focused on his role as a bodyguard so I shouldn't have to worry about him bothering me. Last thing I need is anyone impeding my investigation."

Joey Kurusu

"Saji tells me this guy used to be a massive gambler, kinda like Dice from Shibuya. Thankfully, he got his act together and is now working as a investigator, which is good! Truthfully, he seems a lot more laid-back than his partners. I should think about introducing myself. He seems like a nice enough guy to get a drink and talk with."

Justice Shield

"Wow, a team of cops is now entering the D.R.B. Man, this tournament is shaping up to be something very interesting. Like I mentioned, they seemed to be more concerned with trying to find the criminals who are hiding out in this tournament than actually competing. They've definitely got their work cut out for them, cause I think everyone in this tournament has something to hide. Myself included..."

"I think I've heard of this guy. Some of my classmates talk about him. Apparently, he's a rock star or something. I think I've heard a couple of his songs on the radio once or twice. They're not really anything I listen to. I'm more into hip-hop, techno and maybe a little dubstep. Sappy emo songs aren't really my thing."

Max Soukoku

"There are a lot of strange people at my school, myself included. ...But I don't think there's quite possibly anyone stranger than this guy, Max. He's kinda like me and Otonashi-chan mixed. ...Okay, maybe that wasn't the best comparison, but the guy is quiet. Occasionally, you can hear him mumble too himself sometimes. But besides that, this guy is not to be trifled with. You think Otonashi, Aranai-chan, or I am dangerous? You haven't seen this kid. I like to fight people, sure. But I only go to the extent where they get the message they should give up.

"Max, though? I saw a couple of bullies bothering him once, and... well, let's just say, those guys should thank whatever deity they believe in that the teachers were able to get this guy off of them before he actually killed them. That incident didn't exactly help make him any friends, but it got the picture that if you trifle with this guy, you do so at your own risk."

Kaiji Sano

"I've heard some of the guys and girls talk about this guy... or is it girl? ...Either way, apparently he makes a living on social media as a crossdresser, dressing up in feminine outfits. It's actually made him pretty popular. I think he may have been on a magazine once or twice, but I'm not sure. Either way, he's got props for doing what he does. I know a small portion of people don't care for that sort of thing, but then again, don't people always need some reason to bitch and complain?"

Lovesick

"I'd ask what a rock star, a high-school student and a crossdresser all have in common with each other, but I have seen stranger combinations in this tournament. I don't know fully know the reason for them entering, but I'll definitely be watching them in any battles they wind up in."

Vito's Thoughts on Kobe Division

"This guy walked into my parlor a few months back, but I didn't know who he was at the time, though that was mainly cause he was dressed incognito. Even after he removed his hat, sunglasses, and trench coat, I still didn't know who he was, which shocked him, but also pleased him for some reason. Anyway, he said he wanted to get a tattoo done. He asked me to give him one of black thorns, which I agreed with. The project took me the better part of a day. It was late in the evening when I finished. I showed him the results, and needless to say, he was pleased.

"Days later, I suddenly had huge influx of clients of customers all asking to have black thorns done. Why? Apparently, the guy who I did a tattoo for was one Ren "Vox" Nakashima, a famous rock musician. He posted my tattoo on his social media page, which led to so many people wanting to get one now. I wasn't upset about it though. The more people who want to get art done by me, the better I'll become at it.

"...Still, I could have done without the news crews and cameramen..."

Max Soukoku

"About two years before his death, I remember that one day, Master Mafuyu was very incensed about something. Apparently, a close friend of his had died in a car accident after his car slid off the road and down a cliff while he was driving in the mountains with his family. It seemed like a standard, unfortunate accident, but Master Mafuyu refused to believe that. His friend and family had been murdered by a group that his friend was looking into known as, "The Commission".

"Master's friend had stated that he been getting the feeling that he was watched and followed as of late. Apparently, he had been digging or looking into something that he shouldn't have been. And when he tried to make his escape, his 'accident' occurred. Master Mafuyu wanted to continue his work, but I fortunately managed to talk him out of it. If this group was as dangerous as he claimed it to be, looking into it would not do anything save get him hurt or killed.

"Though Master didn't want to, he knew I was right and thankfully decided not to pursue the matter any further... for now anyway. I still got the feeling that he was looking for some sort of info, but if he did, he kept it quiet from me." Vito sighs.

"I don't know what's worse: that he was betrayed by one of his own people, or that he could have ended up just like his friend if he had decided to go down deeper into this proverbial rabbit hole..."

Kaiji Sano

"I browsed this guy's social media page, once or twice. It was purely for artistic reasons, I assure you. But anyway, I've heard much about the man known as "Jinx". He makes a living as a cross-dresser, dressing up in female clothes, which many of his followers seems to like. Yeong has told me that he works with this young man, and despite his eccentricity, he is a good person to work alongside. I wonder if I'll see him in my tattoo parlor someday..."

Lovesick

"Like Saji mentioned, I have to wonder what exactly is this group's reasoning for entering the D.R.B. They all seem to have little in common with each other. While 2/3 of the group seem to be famous in their own ways, famous doesn't necessarily always mean 'good' or 'strong'. And as for the youngest member... I don't know, something about him doesn't feel right to me. I mentioned "The Commission", and I may be wrong about this, but... I do remember spotting someone close to this young boy's appearance on Master Mafuyu's computer years ago. He's obviously not the same kid, but..."

Yeong whistles at the picture of the rock star. "Ren Nakashima. I haven't exactly met or talked with the guy, but we are in the same circle. Hard to believe he's only 20, and he's already a famous rock star. Would you believe me if I told you we both had our pictures taken together for a magazine cover? Normally, I'd only let girls get inside my bubble, but since we both are good-looking, I didn't mind it so much. I should take a listen to some of his songs when I get the chance..."

Max Soukoku

"...When my superiors first told me they wanted me to follow and observe this kid, I had to wonder why exactly. But upon doing some research, I happened to come across a group known as, "The Commission". When I reported this to my superiors, they were all shocked for some reason. I later found out that apparently its a shadowy organization filled with a bunch of killers, sadists, madmen, etc. They immediately told me to cease all operations with this kid, and to stand by for further orders. I've been doing that for a week now, so... hey if they want to pay me to stand around and do nothing, who am I to argue?"

Kaiji Sano

"Kaiji-kun! Ha! This kid is alright! I'll admit, when I first met him, I assumed 'he' was a 'she'. It wasn't until Lola introduced us that the guy admitted that he was male. Man, that was embarrassing! Lola teases me about it to this very day! But, I know its all in good fun. Aside from that, Kaiji-kun is a good guy to hang around with. His social media page is pretty popular, though not as much as mine! Still, its good to have another guy to talk with. No offense to any of the ladies, but we need more men to show off their bodies and skills to!"

Lovesick

"I have to admit, I didn't think Ren or Kaiji would actually join the D.R.B. I've nothing against them, but I am a bit worried about their reclusive teammate, Max. If he's actually part of this "Commission" group, then we're in trouble. I wonder if Ren or Kaiji know anything about this. If so... does this mean, they're a part of it?! Oh man, I really hope that's not the case. If the higher-ups here about this, we could have an international crisis on our hands! ...Man, I hate these kind of jobs..."

"I see this girl on campus from time to time. She's the woman who drew that manga everyone's going crazy about. Red of the Ambitious, I think its called. I gave it a quick look through once. It was alright, but it's kinda like every other manga out there these days. A guy or girl transported into another world and winds up becoming the hero, developing relationships with everyone. I'm not knocking it or anything, but it wouldn't kill artists to come up with something new.

"Besides that, I've been hearing rumors about this girl. About how she's secretly affiliated with Chuohku. I don't pay much attention to rumors, but... I don't know. She seems too nice a person to work for an organization like that. But then again, isn't it the least person you always expect that always turns out to be the one?"

Criss Hiromi

Saji gives a small chuckle to Criss's photo. "Criss always makes me laugh when I see her, which isn't very often. She rarely attends class, and the few times I do see her, she's usually running to and from one place to the next. Honestly, it makes me a bit miffed that despite the fact that she cuts class as much as I do, her grades are still better than mine. But I suppose she does some studying whenever she goes on those 'ghost hunts' she goes on. Me, between school and work, I don't really have much time to look after my notes. As long as I get the bare minimum, I'm good."

Nikki Yoshie

"I don't really know much about Nikki personally. Even when she was in school, she was always closed off from everyone. Not that I can talk since I was pretty much the same way, and still am. All I care about is doing my work and getting out of this place as quickly as I can. Anything else is extra. Besides that, I hear she's making a killing on the E-gaming scene. Video games don't really do much for me, though. I like to spend my time out doing stuff. Playing a virtual character in a virtual reality seems an... escape to me. ...And in case you wondering, the irony of what I just said isn't lost me."

Otaku Corps

"'Otaku Corps'? Seems a little... childlike, don't you think? Of course, since they are situated in Akihabara, which is pretty much 'Anime Central' here in Japan, I guess the name does have some sort of semblance. But besides that, I don't really know if these guys will go far. They've been here for a while, but haven't done much. And Keiko... I don't know if she is a Chuohku member. If so, then I'm sorry, but that makes her an enemy. Anyone who has something to do with that place, I want little to do with."

"One of Saji's classmates. From what he tells me, she's a manga artist who is studying to become a nurse, which is a worthy profession, if I may say so. She seems like a sweet, kind young woman, but... from what Saji informed me, she has some ties to Chuohku, which is very saddening to hear. Even more so when it turns out she did so to get revenge on her mother. ...I don't know who she is, but I have to wonder what exactly she's done to make her daughter so angry that she went so far as to even join the government..."

Criss Hiromi

"I know this young woman. She's apparently a star on the Internet due to the YouTube videos she makes of her traversing through old abandoned buildings and ruins. Saji tells me she's a "paranormal investigator", whatever that means exactly. I only hope that she's doing thorough research on these places that she's exploring. Even though they may seem abandoned at first glance, you don't know if they actually are or not. And sad as it is to say, there are plenty of bad people in this world who wouldn't think twice before doing something cruel and unspeakable to a young woman such as her..."

Nikki Yoshie

"I know of her as well. She makes a living as an E-gamer, meaning she participates in those video game tournaments that Akihabara is famous for. I heard she quit playing with a team due to the fact that her old team blamed her for their loss, which is sad to hear. When a team loses, it's not just one player's fault, but all of the players. As a result, she kinda has trust issues, which is understandable. I just hope she realize that not all people are like that. And I also hope that she's making time to go outside. There's more to life than video games, after all."

Otaku Corps

"Like Saji mentioned, the team name, though silly, does speak volumes about much these women love their city and its culture. And despite not being in any battles, that doesn't mean they should be underestimated. ...Especially if the rumors surrounding Keiko-chan turn out to be true. If she does indeed work for Chuohku, then she's a lot more dangerous than she appears..."

"Ah, the author for Red of the Ambitious, herself! Would you believe me if I told you that this fine, young woman is actually a student of mine at my dance studio? It's true! Apparently, she's part of the university's cheerleading squad, so she often comes by to practice her routine, which I'm happy to help with. She's actually a pretty interesting young lady. She like to write and draw manga, but her interest is actually in nursing. Kind of a waste, if you ask me. Her book is awesome. I love those Isekai manga!

"Her being at my studio is actually good, as it gives me ample time to observe her. Why? I'm sure you've heard the rumors about her serving Chuohku, right? Well, if I can get her talking about some of the things she does for the government, it should help me when I report in to my superiors."

Criss Hiromi

"Ms. Paranormal Investigator! I've seen some of the videos she's posted on YouTube. I tell you, this kid is either brave as hell, or completely nuts! I think a little of both. But then again, you have to be a little insane to venture into some of the places she's gone to! I wouldn't dare set foot into one of those places unless it was for a job or something. And maybe not even then! But seriously, she's got props for doing what she does. I just hope she's taking care of herself when she ventures off alone, especially at night. I know that's when ghosts and such are supposed to come out, but that's also when the most trouble happens. Take it from me, I'm a bouncer. And I've seen some weird things come out after dark."

Nikki Yoshie

"Mrs. #5 Gamer in the World! You might find this surprising, but I'm actually a big fan of video games. I particularly like the fighting kinds where you get to beat up either the computer or another person. Something about that really gets my blood pumping! I know you're probably wondering why I'd want to play a game like that. Well, believe it or not, I love action! Video games, films, TV shows, etc. Anything that has people beating the crap out of one another rocks! And I've seen what this girl can do in one of those games! She is a beast! A beast, I tell you!"

Otaku Corps

"...Yeah, I'll admit. The name's a little corny and cheesy, but it does kinda make sense when you think about the team's city and such. But besides that, I really like this team! I mean, these girls aren't even 21 yet, and they're names are already out there! I just hope that they don't let their fame go to their head. But I don't think I have to worry about that. From what I heard, they all used to be bullied and made fun of when they were young, so its unlikely that they'll forget what they were like before they were famous. Be true to yourself, that's what I always say!"

Azusa Furukawa

"I think I know her. She's the woman who's in charge of one of the few remaining dojos here in Japan, right? I've honestly never been a big fan of weaponry. My hands and feet are all I need to defend myself. And truthfully, its kind of surprising to see someone still wielding a sword in this day and age, especially since Chuohku banned the use of weaponry. I know there's Katsumi-chan over in Nerima, but hers is more for sport, isn't it? But anyway, I hear she's trying her hardest to keep her dojo open despite Chuohku working hard to take it away. I wish her the best of luck."

Fleuret Oshiro

"I remember her. Our class took a trip to the Tokyo National Museum, and she was the one who was giving us a tour. Truthfully, I was surprised. I'd heard that the curator was a French woman, but I didn't think it was true. Still, she was very knowledgeable about a lot of the stuff there. It was a good experience."

Eldrid Iwasaki

"It's kinda hard not to know who this woman is. Even if you aren't a fan of MMA, you have to have heard of Eldrid "The Valkyrie" Iwasaki, at least once in your life. I'm still a bit surprised that I actually managed to get to do a collab with her! Her rapping is just the same as her skills in the ring: deadly!

"Honestly, after seeing her tear people up, I've thought about trying my hand at MMA. But I always just brush it off as wishful thinking. I like fighting underground. There are a lot less rules than there are MMA. Besides, I don't fight for fame or accolades. But still, she has my respect for doing what she does. I'd like to challenge her, but I don't think I'd even be competition to her. ...But I have to wonder who would win between her and Vito..."

Blade Maiden

"'Blade Maiden'. A fitting name for all three of these women. From what I hear, they all hail from proud ancestry backgrounds. I kinda envy them. At least they know something about their families. I can't even put a picture to any of my parents' faces. ...But besides that, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of them in the D.R.B."

"It's quite a shame that Chuohku is so hellbent on trying to see the end of something as proud and historical as one of the remaining few dojos left in Japan. I haven't visited the Furukawa Dojo, but from what I've heard, the sensei's daughter has taken up the reigns after he sadly became weak due to sickness. It's a heavy burden she has, and Chuohku isn't making it any easier. I wish her the best of luck and hope that she finds a way to keep that ancient landmark running."

Fleuret Oshiro

"I don't visit the Tokyo National Museum as often I wish I did. I like going there for two reasons. One: I enjoy the artifacts that are there. So much culture, knowledge and artwork are gathered in one place. It's astounding. And secondly: I enjoy conversing Fleuret-san whenever we can. Like me, she has her own principals that she values and holds fast to. I enjoy conversing with her about the concept of honor and what it means in today's time. She is an intelligent and kind woman. One who I am glad that I have the pleasure of getting to know."

Eldrid Iwasaki

"Would you believe me if I told you this woman actually came to me once to get a tattoo done? When I first opened my studio, I knew that it would attract a wide range of people from all across Japan. But I didn't think it'd actually attract an MMA star. To be honest, I was a bit wary of her. As you know, I also have a side-job as a bouncer. And more often than not, I've often had to break up several fights that were instigated by this woman here. She has a very high alcohol tolerance. But once she hits it, she gets a bit crazy and violent.

"Surprisingly though, she was actually fairly decent. We spoke a bit while I was giving her a tattoo of a sword and we spoke a bit about her lives up until now. I felt a bit bad for her childhood, but I'm glad she's come out stronger for it. She stated she'd come back again. And believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to it."

Blade Maiden

"Like Saji-kun, I'm also a bit envious of these women's bloodlines and their ancestry. I've often wanted to learn a bit about my own, but... I'm a bit worried of what I may find. Who were my parents? Why did they abandon me? Those questions and more always seem to flood my mind whenever I entertain the thought of looking up more about my past. It's something I try to avoid honestly.

"But I admire each and every one of these women. I've seen them perform in the D.R.B., and they are all quite strong and powerful. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing whom they face next. Perhaps watching them could help improve something I lack."
