[After talking about Fit's deal with Madagio and the upcoming deadline]
Ramon: i dont mind losing a life if it means u can stay
Fit: No– Ramon, don't talk like that, you are– I value your life more than my own, trust me. I mean, if push comes to shove, I would easily sacrifice myself for you in a heartbeat, Ramon. In a heartbeat.
Ramon: u dont need to. if u're not here, then who will i be?
Fit: No, Ramon... You're my son. Even if something happens to me, you've got people on this island that care about you. You're a strong Egg. Nothing's gonna happen to me though. [Ramon nods] Like I said: I always find my way on the better side of situations. I always find a way out.
Ramon: u always survive
Fit: Yeah, sometimes by the skin of my teeth, but I survive! And you're a survivor too, Ramon. I mean– look at you! Losing a life almost immediately, and then surviving– [accidentally knocks Ramon into the water] Oh, sht, I did not mean to push you in the water, Ramon. [Laughs] But look at you! You survived on one life longer than any other Egg. You're a survivor, just like me. You're a survivor just like me.
can i just say that I'm haunted by the image of Ice wearing "one of Mavericks cheapest rolexes". One because of the mental immage of Maverick being the kind of men who not only owns multiple watches but also Rolex, which is absolutely delightful, because oh the quiet vanity of that. And two because of the implied and groundbreaking (to me) domesticity (and defiance of the not talking/acknowledging the thing between the 2 of them) of wearing another person watch. I'm screaming into the void about your brilliance. So I need to ask, do they do that on purpose (before the mission) in a sort if roundabout way of acknowledging each other presence in their life? What would Mav wear that belongs to Ice (apart from that USNA ring eheh)?
pilots/sailors/doctors etc who do high-level specialized work with their hands tend to really be Watch Guys. and “cheap” rolexes (sub $7k ish) are actually pretty affordable if you’re making >$150k a year and want to treat yourself every fifth christmas or something. source: know several sailors & doctors. ALSO the watch ice is wearing in his famous gay plane photoshoot is actually a rolex. So theres some evidence ice at least is (annoying, ostentatious, bad with money, and) a Watch Guy. Maverick’s also wearing a kickass chronograph in TGM so i think he’s also probably a Watch Guy. also… you know, status symbol, honor, et cetera et cetera…
they probably wear each other’s socks because in-regs socks all look the same and they’re both men so who cares. i also hc that they’ve always worn the same size in shirts so each other’s t-shirts are also free game. and was very confusing at the start of their relationship when trying to figure out whose shirt was whose after a midnight rendezvous. lots of accidental shirt mixups. and, yeah, each other’s watches, because most people only see the status and don’t see the detail, and most people aren’t around both ice and mav enough to recognize that “omg last month adm kazansky was wearing the same omega chronometer capt mitchell is wearing today!! theyre totally together!!!” so if ice buys a new watch and maverick salivates over it, sure he can borrow it, whatever. and i think there’s a scene in wwgattai when maverick wears ice’s pj pants hold up lemme find it
“in bare feet.” now wtf does that mean. that could use a rewrite.
ice also wears mavericks leather jacket when they’re on their baseball date in debriefing. at some point when you live with someone long enough your stuff becomes their stuff which was the point of this graf
thinking about it… trying to decide if they’d wear each other’s cologne. that seems like a little much. no i don’t think so.

ngl I've been kinda stuck on this one (writing s2 eddie is so hard, and buck's pov is fighting me haha) and I left it for a minute, and when I was trying to get back to it, I was writing like half a sentence a day
but today I got inspired and progress was made haha (this is obvi a rough draft, I'm just trying to get over this little slump haha)

“Dinner’s ready!” Eddie calls out, putting the plates down, then walking into the living room, where Buck can see Shannon and Chris still on the couch, surrounded by books and notebooks. “Mama, you need help getting to the table, or do you wanna stay there? We can eat with you on the couch.” Eddie adds, walking over to them and starting to clean up the homework mess.
“We’re not gonna eat on the couch.” Shannon rolls her eyes and tries to get up, but then winces in pain.
“Let me help you.” Eddie sounds exasperated, already by Shannon’s side. “Why do you always do this?” he asks, sounding like they’ve been through this countless times already.
“I hate not being able to even move by myself.” Shannon grumbles, as Eddie helps her up, careful with her broken leg. Once she’s up, she leans against him, breathing heavily, just getting up taking a lot of effort. It’s a heartbreaking sight, and Buck just feels so awful for her. “This is ridiculous.”
“Just let me help you instead of trying to overexert yourself, and you’ll get better soon.” Eddie responds, sounding more concerned than annoyed. Buck empathizes with her, he knows he’d hate that, too.
Buck watches Eddie slowly help her get to the table, Chris right behind them, as he starts setting the table, suddenly feeling awkward again. It was nice, hanging out for a minute with Eddie, in his kitchen, like nothing’s changed. But now he feels out of place again, and hates that he’s making it about himself, even just in his own head. This woman almost died, and she’s the mother of the kid Buck would die for – and here he is, worrying about this new normal with her around, about how his comfort place doesn’t feel all that comfortable now.
