Missing You | Nico Hischeir
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: when you and Nico haven’t seen each other for a month his teammates pull off the surprise of a lifetime when you both needed it the most.
request: yes/no
warnings: sexual themes, p in v, swearing, slight exhibitionist kink?
word count: 2.68k
authors note: welcome to the fourth instalment of the 1000 celly, and what I think is our first one with a mclaren driver. I have missed writing for this boy so much! this is also the first smut of 2024 if I'm not mistaken! we also aren't going to acknowledge that this has taken me like four days to write this...
Tumblr media
You knew you were in love with Nico.
It was hard not to be, he had been your boyfriend for the last four and a half years and you didn't want anything more. When you were with Mclaren you met him when he was on a trip to Belgium you two met during a party. You had just won the first race of your career but the moment you saw him, the world all of a sudden didn’t matter to you. But by the end of the night you couldn’t get enough of him.
Yet as your careers both got ahead of you and it meant that the only real time you found yourself together was a three week period where you were both off in the summer break. But after this year it felt awkward for you both. You were coming up to the Austin leg of the season and with that it meant that you were back in the states. It seemed that both of you let your careers take hold of your lives, so even though you had a week off you didn’t know if Nico wanted to spend the time with you.
That was compounded by the fact that you guys had a stupid argument, and when Nico ended the call with how he thought it would have been best if you didn’t come in your week off.
Nico had been having a rough week so when the video came up of you and Lando being interviewed by a child, it was the cherry on top of the shit cake. Not even your FaceTime call could have taken him out of it “there you are love!” You smiled as you saw the picture connect “finally found some time away from Lando?” Nico grumbled as he hadn’t even finished the video when you called.
Your face dropped as you furrowed your eyebrows “you okay?” You trailed off as it only seemed to piss him off further “why do you have to go get all flirty with your teammate?” The accusation made you freeze “okay back the fuck up hotshot.” You warned as you raised your hand signaling to him to stop.
It wasn’t often that you two fought but after months without sex - or any variation of it - you were both frustrated “I did not flirt with my teammate or anyone because I’m in love with you!” You were close to hanging up as you glared at him “you’ve got a funny way of showing that.” Nico laughed as he shook his head.
You were doing alright at the moment with your racing, many podiums and even a win in the season that could all but have been called Max’s. But with one DNF and one DNS coming right after each other, you were now stressed “look don’t make your team playing like shit right now my fault.” You grumbled not realizing that the comment had slipped out “if we’re so shit then maybe you shouldn’t come!” With that Nico hung up leaving you with the reflection of your shocked face.
As much as you wanted to apologize for what you had said, you were still upset that he could have ever questioned how you felt about him. It was clear the entire world noted how both of you were currently struggling not only in your sports but also how you just seemed to be out of it. You missed your boyfriend but as fans would have you sign random pieces of devils merch as the announcement of your relationship upon your win in Austria two years ago came with a whole new group of fans.
So when you were sat in the comfort of your hotel room and got the message from Jack asking if you wanted to come to a devs game before the race in Vegas, you knew you couldn’t say no. Not when this was attached.
Jacky Hughes: he misses you, even if he won’t say it
The text made your heart break especially after you watched Nico get injured. The Prudential Center was a place you found comfort in but this time as you sat amongst the crowd all you wanted was him. Nico’s name was proudly stapled on your back as you were in his jersey and a plain black cap as though it was going to be enough to hide your identity.
And it did until the final intermission just as the boys got back on the ice “she still not talking to you?” Nico had called you earlier that morning but as you were on your flight you had no way of answering it “I just miss her.” Timo couldn’t help but place his hand on the boys shoulder as he felt bad.
More than half of the team knew that you were here and Timo decided he could no longer leave Nico in his misery “look up there.” Six rows up sat next to Ellen and Jim Hughes, was you.
Nico felt his jaw drop as he locked eyes with you “hi.” You mouthed like he could even see what you were saying “love you.” Nico did the same thing as you as he placed his hand on his heart as you blew him a kiss.
That final period everyone swore that there was a rocket under Nico’s ass as he scored two different goals, both of which you knew were dedicated to you as the boy would smirk in your direction. It seemed that both of you were ready to finally see each other but as he got one of the stars of the game it left you waiting with Jack “thank you for getting me here.” You smiled at the boy finally taking your cap off as you realized you weren’t hiding anymore.
Jack brushed it off as it was more of a favour to the boys than something for you guys “just hope he behaves.” You had mentioned your apprehensions on coming because of how you two fought “have a feeing we both will.” You nodded as you watched Nico’s head stick out from the crowd “schatzi!” He called out acting as the cue that Jack needed to leave “have fun.” The boy patted your shoulder as he walked off to his parents.
It was only a few seconds until Nico was in front of you “hi.” He smiled noticing how you fidgeted with your rings just like you used to when you guys first started dating “you played well tonight cap.” The nickname had his mind fulling with thoughts, all as inappropriate as the previous.
His hand locked with yours as he clicked his tongue wanting you to stop “I’m sorry I called your team shit.” You were the first to apologize as your voice was soft not wanting his teammates to hear you “let’s go talk in the car.” Nico offered as he slid his arm over your shoulders letting your rest your head against him.
It had been a while since you were in New Jersey as your summer break was spent in Europe “how did you keep the boys quiet?” Nico asked as he locked his hand with yours over the center console “it was actually their idea.” You smiled revealing what the surprise was “Jack said you missed me.” You teased letting out a giggle as the boys cheeks turn red.
Nico couldn’t help but nod as he sighed “you and Lando are good friends and I know you love me.” The hockey player had found himself repeating the apology that he tried so many times to send you “I seriously think you’re on a great team.” You hated how badly you spoke about the team when Nico stood by your side through everything “can we agree we were both wrong?” The air finally felt light as the car came to a stop when the light turned red.
His eyes stared into yours as he swore that there was nowhere that he’d rather be “only if it means that I could kiss you.” Nico mumbled as it made you smile “never need to ask me that.” You shook your head as the boy dropped his head to the side as he let his lips touch yours.
A fire built up in your belly as his hand grazed your cheek finally stopping as he tugged on your hair “Neek.” You moaned feeling him smirk against your lips “I know baby.” Nico sighed having to pull away as the car behind them hooted as the light went green “so fucking happy to have you back my sweet girl.” He mumbled letting his hand rest on your thigh as he smiled.
Being captain of an NHL team came with a bunch of privileges. One that Nico never realized that he was meant to appreciate was an expensive apartment with a view that could have been worth a thousand bucks “this will never get old.” You gasped pressing your fingers against the glass as you watched New Jersey continue to move beneath you “feels great getting to watch you in it.” Nico’s breath fanned against your skin as the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.
It was as though your entire body melted as his hands gripped at your hips “even in all of this?” You joked looking down to the fact that you were fully clothed “would prefer if you were just in this.” His fingers tugged at the jersey on your shoulders.
All of a sudden an idea popped up in your mind “what’s stopping you pretty boy?” Your tongue darted out of your mouth as you turned to face him “you gonna let me?” Nico raised his eyebrows in surprise as he hooked his fingers in the belt hoops of your pants pulling you closer to him “you get whatever you want my little star.” You cooed pushing yourself onto your tippy toes as you wrapped your hands around his shoulders.
Nico grinned as he swayed your hips against his “fuck I need you schatzi.” His groan was caught as your teeth grazed his lower lip “don’t make me wait.” The fight was now long forgotten as he undid your belt “god you’re soaked.” His eyes blew up at the sight of the wet patch on your panties.
He helped you out of your pants “do something please.” You begged as his eyes had you feeling like he had you fully undressed “put your hands against the window then for me.” Nico moved your hair to the side of your neck.
As you listened to his command his pants grew tight around his boner “looking so good tonight in my jersey.” The boy cooed as he turned his attention to the flesh of your ass squeezing your skin between his fingers “just tonight?” You held back a moan as you wiggled your ass in front of him desperate to get a reaction from the boy.
That behavior was cut as he lay a quick slap to your skin that was quickly followed by a soothing motion “you’ve got such a pretty ass.” He mumbled to himself picking up the band of your panties only to let it snap again as it made you jump “I need you Nico.” You begged letting the cool glass hit your forehead “you have me here schatzi.” His hand palmed your ass.
It made you whimper as your jaw went slack “need you to touch me.” Your tone was sultry as your body tensed “you just a cock hungry girl tonight?” The boy was amused as he took the time to unbuckle his belt as you bit your lip in anticipation “asked you a question pretty girl.” His voice pulled you from your focus as you turned your head to face him “want you baby.” Was all he needed to hear as he dropped his suit pants letting them hit the floor.
Nico missed this view as you practically oozed with anticipation “god I’ve missed this cunt” His fingers traced on the lace on your underwear before he hooked his fingers into the waistband leaving you nude from the waist down “you don’t have to wait much longer pretty boy.” You smirked hearing the gasp that left his lips as you knew that he was palming his cock.
The boy dragged its swollen head over your slit spreading his precum over your clit “don’t tease me please.” You begged as your knuckles turned white as your fingers tensed against the window “how do you think they would feel seeing how needy you are for me?” Nico teased as he kissed your neck as he slid his cock into your cunt “so big.” You gasped as the boy gave you a moment to let your walls stretch as his cock throbbed inside you “moove p-please.” You moaned feeling his hands squeeze your hips.
He felt his head drop back as you whimpered “let yourself scream f’me baby.” Nico nipped at your earlobe as it made you squirm “they can’t hear you from up here.” He reminded you of where you both were “you want people to watch you fuck-me!” You yelled the last part as Nico hit your ass once more.
Nico growled from behind you as he had gotten carried away by the fact that that you were still in his jersey “deserve to see who you belong to.” His possessiveness made you clench your cunt around him “you like it when I call you mine huh?” You nodded as you cried out “belong to you cap.” If Nico didn’t have so much planned for you he would have came on the spot but he used everything in his power to not coat the walls of your cunt in that moment.
The sound of skin slapping echoed in your ears as the sight of you in his jersey made his mouth water “hated thinking about those boys so close to you.” He grunted in your ear as his hands trailed up the inside of the jersey “you just look so fucking good in this.” As your hair was pushed to the side it had his name proudly displayed on your back.
You moaned as you nodded “’s all for you neeks.” You no longer seemed to care that you were against the window as your legs began to shake “I’m so close.” You announced as your hand trailed down to your clit as you began to rub at the sensitive nub.
As the boy realized what you were doing he swatted your hand away as he continued the assault on your clit “be a good girl and hold it f’me.” He clicked his tongue as he wanted to push you just a little bit further “i-i can’t.” You swore that tears were filling up your eyes as you whimpered “just a little bit longer.” He practically pleaded wanting to push you as close to the edge as he could.
Sweat made your hair stick to your skin “I need to-” your plead was short lived as he cut you off “let go for me.” Nico mumbled as his cock throbbed your body shook as you came “fuck fuck fuck!” You chanted as you pressed your head against his shoulder as your cunt clenched around him “there it is pretty girl.” Nico cooed as he kissed your temple as his orgasm came shortly after yours.
Nico watched your chest heaved as he slid his cock out of you “you were so good.” You mumbled turning to face him as you smiled “the night doesn’t have to end schatzi.” Nico cupped your cheeks as he pecked your lips “take me to your room cap.” He didn’t need to hear anymore as he threw you over his shoulder making you squeal as he laughed.
The door to his room shut and with that the rest of the events planned for you two weren’t going to be seen by New Jersey. Because as fun as that was, being tangled in the sheets was far more favourable.

It's completely okay they had sex. There is nothing wrong with it and it isn't what temporarily broke them up.
They are both grown-ass men who've had sex with other people before (for various reasons and with various results). The seriousness of their relationship doesn't rise or fall on whether they've had sex because despite social mores, those two things aren't intrinsically linked. Sex is part of how people process complicated feelings all the time (see: funerals, near-death situations), and if both parties are clearly consenting then that isn't necessarily a bad thing or something that ruins a relationship.
Ed wakes up and gets rid of a tangible part of a persona he's wanted to shed for a long time. He makes his lover breakfast in bed. He's not rattled by Izzy coming in to tease them, if anything he's calmer than Stede is (which makes sense as the partner who has actually been with a man/had sex he enjoyed before).
They have a very happy date where Stede's new celebrity status doesn't bother him at all. Ed getting rid of the Blackbeard leathers 'felt good.' More gentle ribbing about sex with Stede gets a smile from Ed.
(They could have chosen to talk about Ned Lowe that morning, by the way, or at some other time that day, or literally whenever they both felt ready to do it. I don't think they did and I think they really should, but they by no means had to process every bit of it five whole seconds after it happened.)
There is no awkwardness, distance, or upset between Ed and Stede until it becomes clear just how much Stede is blowing up as a newly successful pirate, and just how much Ed is thinking about retiring. His conversation with Jackie highlights just how much those are incongruous things. That's when he freaks out and leaves. That's when he starts picking a fight - about how they're moving too fast, about how Stede isn't instantly supportive of his plan to drop everything and run off to a new career, about how fishermen and pirates are fundamentally different or whatever shit he says in the moment.
Because Stede is 100% correct about what Ed is doing - he's blowing it up. Ed is looking for the barest hint of conflict anywhere he can to turn into a bigger fight, and then using that as an excuse to leave before Stede can do it first. And Stede may think that's a fear of commitment or intimacy or something, since he doesn't have the full context, but it absolutely is a cowardly move.
I've seen posts saying Ed is clearly communicating his needs and I feel like I'm living on another planet. Did he ever say 'I'm scared we want fundamentally different lives and that means we can't be together'? Or 'I'm worried the life you want to embrace is the life I need to drop, because it's toxic for me'? Because until he says that, he hasn't told Stede anything.
And nothing about those very real fears has anything to do with sex.

I made it | Jack Hughes
Tumblr media
Summary: Jack was Lucy’s first love, they dated in high school but broke up when Jack left for the NHL. After a long debate with a certain older Hughes brother, Lucy decided to invite Jack to her broadway debut, but she didn’t expect him to actually show up.
Warnings: cussing
Notes: well I know I said I would work on the Cole story but I’m kinda stuck rn and this idea came to me. It’s a little shorter than I hoped but I think this one may be my favorite. Also italics means it’s a flash back
Tumblr media
Lucy doesn’t even know what she’s doing. She just got the news that she landed her dream role as Elphaba on broadway. Her high school dream just in arms reach. Her thumb floats over his caller id.
Jacky💕
She never had the heart to delete his contact. Not even the guts to change his name. Despite him breaking her heart, he was the one who supported her dreams the most.
It was opening night of her Senior musical. The school musical was Shrek and Lucy was playing Fiona. She kept looking in the crowd, hoping to see a glimpse of her parents, but every time she looked she slowly lost hope. But that dread was quickly replaced with joy as she saw her boyfriend and his family take their seats in the front row. Ellen and Jim were dressed up nice, Jack was dressed nice as well, but his hair definitely shows that he just got out of the shower after practice. Luke on the other hand, let’s just say Lucy was just happy he was there.
At the end of the performance, as she took her bow, Jack was cheering for her so loud that you would have thought he was at a sporting event. Lucy couldn’t help, but blush. Well as much blushing she can do under her green face paint.
Once the curtains close, Lucy rushes out of her costume to see Jack as soon as possible. When she leaves the theater room, she is greeted by Jack holding a bouquet of sunflowers, her favorite flowers.
“You came!!” She pulls Jack into a hug who quickly saved the flowers from being smushed by raising them above his head. He laughs at her excitement.
“Of course I made it.” He kisses her forehead before looking in her eyes, “I’m your number one fan.”
She couldn’t bring herself to call him, but part of her knew she needed to tell someone from that time of her life.
“Hello, who is this?” Of course he didn’t have her number saved.
“This was a bad idea, I shouldn’t have called.” She goes to hang up, but luckily, Quinn recognizes her voice.
“Lucy?! What’s wrong?” She takes a deep breath, before talking to Quinn.
“I’m sorry to bother you Quinn, I just need to tell someone , but I couldn’t bring myself to call him, not after how we left things off.” Lucy holds in her tears.
“Hey you may not be with him anymore, but you are still like a little sister to me.” Quinn’s words brought comfort to Lucy, calming her down. “You can always talk to me.”
One last deep breath, Lucy lets it all go. “Quinn, I’m going to be on broadway.”
“Wait for real!? This is amazing Lulu.”She smiles at the use of the nickname she hasn’t heard for a long time. “What date is opening night, I’ll totally buy a ticket to see it.”
“March 6th, but I already checked your schedule, and you are busy Mr. Captain.” Since this was the first time she talked to Quinn since the break up, it’s the first time she has called him captain. “But it would be knowing someone in the crowd was there for me, besides my brother.”
“You know someone who doesn’t play that day and would drop anything to see you.” She knows exact who she’s talking about.
“No Quinn, I doubt Jack wants to see me after 5 years. He has better things to do.” She still can’t believe it has been this long. “He was the one who broke up with me remember?”
“He misses you Lulu.” She shakes her head in disbelief. She’s seen Jack’s public life, he’s dated other girls, he’s out partying with his friends on the off season, and most importantly he is being successful in the NHL. “You have no idea how many time I’ve been on phone with Jack basically having this exact conversation. Every important game he calls me asking if he should invite you. I always tell him yes, but evidently he never goes through with it.”
“I’ve actually been to a few games believe it or not, last game I went to was the infamous Hughes bowl.” She couldn’t afford the lower bowl seats, but even in the nose bleeds she was supporting Jack, the Hughes brothers.
“Never let Jack know that, he’ll get so upset that you paid to watch him play. Knowing him he would try and figure out how much you spent in total, then would pay you back.” She laughs knowing that would exactly what Jack would do.
“He would also get mad if he knew I bought my own jersey.” She looks over in her closet and sees her number 86 Devils jersey that almost taunts her. “I wear it every game day.”
The two are silent for a little bit before Quinn speaks up. “What if I buy Jack a ticket and send it to him. I won’t tell him about this conversation. He can decide for himself if he goes or not but I can guarantee once he sees that you are performing, he will drop everything to see you.”
“I can’t tell you what to do with your money Quinn , but I can ask that you don’t waste your money.”
“How about this, we make a bet, the Lucy I remember always loved a good bet,” Lucy was very competitive in high school (she still is competitive but she would never tell anyone about that) “If Jack goes, you have to give him another chance . If he doesn’t go, I will never bother you about Jack again.”
“You know what you have a deal.” After making the deal, the two stay on the phone catching up for an hour. They talk about how the team is doing, how Ellen and Jim are and how much they also miss Lucy. They also talked about how Lucy got the role. Overall, Lucy was just glad to talk to one of the Hughes again.
Tumblr media
During his lunch time the next day, Jack got a text from Quinn.
Qball- Don’t fuck it up this time.
There was a link attached. So out of curiosity, Jack opened the link and saw it was a ticket to see Wicked on broadway. He immediately send Quinn a text back questioning what he means.
Qball- Look up the cast idiot.
Jack looks up the cast after he rolls his eyes at his brother. But when he saw Lucy’s name in big letter next to Elphaba, his heart feels like it stopped.
Qball- she wants you to go, but was too scared to ask you herself.
Jack😎- It’s been so long, what would I even say to her when I saw her?
Qball- the truth. You love her Jack and I can’t guarantee she feels the same but she does deserve the closure you never gave her.
Jack😎- after all this time maybe it’s best if I just left her alone.
Qball- I can’t make you go but if you don’t please at least give the ticket to Luke or even mom. Lucy deserves to have someone there to support her.
Jack😎- I’ll think about it, but thanks for letting me know.
Jack let’s put a groan and puts his head down trying to think.
“What’s up with him?” Jack forgot that he was with his team mates but he quite frankly didn’t care. Not even as Luke grabs his phone.
“Oh shit is this for real.” Jack groans again. “Damn dude Lucy looks hot as fuck.”
Jack’s head shoots up and he glares at Luke.
“What, on the cast list there’s a link to her Instagram. And I’m just stating facts look.” Luke hands Jack back his phone and he sees that Luke was right. Lucy had gotten rid of her braces and glasses which he also found adorable, but there was something about her matured look that made Jack awe struck.
“Who’s Lucy?” Nico asks looking over Jack’s shoulder.
“Jack’s high school sweetheart.” Luke says looking Lucy up on Instagram on his own phone. “Jack was an asshole and dumped her when he got drafted. He legit dumped her over text.”
“That was 5 years ago asshole.” Jack mutters
“She’s really talented.” Jack was playing a clip that she posted of her singing and everyone could hear it. “You really fumbled the bag dude.”
“You think she’s single?” John says while Luke showed him pictures of Lucy. “If so you think you could put in a good word for me?”
“Fuck off.” Jack feels himself getting angry but he doesn’t understand why, Lucy was no longer his, and he lost his right to get over protective of her years ago. He storms off out of the living room out to his room m. Luke follows him.
“Come on Jack, you have no right to be upset.” Jack knows Luke is right but he pouts anyways. “So what are you going to do about that ticket?”
“Maybe mom should go, you know how much she misses Lucy.” Jack says looking at a photo that Lucy posted for her birthday. It was a picture of her in high school laughing. Jack was cropped out of the photo but he can still picture the memory in his head.
“Did you not read what Quinn said?” Luk sits down next to Jack. “She wants you there Jack. She wants your support. Don’t you at least think she deserves that?”
“I do support her and she deserves all the support in the world, but she also deserves better than me.” Jack hold back his tears in front of his brother. “I remember the text her brother sent me. The day I broke up with her, I blocked her so I couldn’t see her response. A hour later, Carson texted me telling me that I would never find anyone better than Lucy and that I would have to watch in regret as his big sister became a star. Harshest words I’ve ever heard from an 11 year old.”
Both brothers laugh as the remember Carson, who actually looked up to Jack until the break up. Luke remembers being told to fuck off by the 11 year old, when he tried reaching out to Lucy after the break up.
“I thought in that moment, he was right. I still think he is right, I don’t deserve to walk back into her life now that it’s more convenient for me.” Jack looks at his desk where he keeps a picture of Lucy and his family after her first musical during their freshmen year.
“Yeah maybe you don’t deserve her after what you did, but there is no denying the love you two shared.”Luke puts his hand on Jack’s shoulder before continuing, “I’m not the best at advice so I’m just going to repeat what Quinn said that she deserves closure.”
“I just want her to be happy, Luke.” Jack cries as Luke holds his older brother.
Tumblr media
A few months later and a lot of hard work, it was finally time for opening night. After hours in the makeup chair, Lucy was as ready as she’ll ever be.
As she is waiting to go on she can’t help, but think of Jack.
The two were sitting in Jack’s room as they often did. As long as they had the door open per Ellen’s request. They were watching a movie on Jack’s computer as the cuddled under the sheets.Lucy was able to convince Jack to watch Wizard of oz.
“So you are telling me there is a musical where the pink witch and the evil witch are best friends and it’s about how the evil witch becomes evil?”
“Yes and it’s considered to be one of the greatest musicals of all times.” Lucy turns and faces Jack, “One day, I’ll be that evil witch. Although her name is Elphaba.”
“And I’ll be in the crowd cheering you on.” Jack smiles before kissing her cheek, “plus you’ll be the hottest green chick ever.”
Lucy laughs to herself before it’s show time. She seriously doubted Quinn’s plan, but she wasn’t going to let Jack’s absence ruin her night. Because at the end of the day, her little brother was there and that’s all she needed.
Speaking of Carson, he was sat in the orchestra seating, Lucy wanted to get him front row seats but he knew how die hard wicked fans are so he said he was fine where ever he sat as long as he could see her. Carson also brought his girlfriend who just like Lucy was into Musical theatre. Lucy never told Carson this, but his relationship reminded her so much of hers and Jack’s relationship at their age.
Carson and his girlfriend, Macy, were quietly talking during the intermission when Carson realized who was sat a seat away from Macy.
Jack Hughes.
Carson got silent and Macy noticed as well. Of course Macy knew who Jack Hughes was and she also knew about the ‘asshole nhl player the broke Lucy’s heart.’ And with Jack’s appearance tonight and Carson’s reaction, the girl put one and one together. She grabs onto Carson’s hand to comfort him before the house lights dimmed signaling the end of the intermission.
At the end of the performance, it was time for final bows. When it’s Lucy’s turn to bow the crowd and cast all go wild in applause. Lucy looks for her brother and Macy in the crowd but gasps when she locks eyes with Jack Hughes.
Jack is standing up while he cheers her on. She sees Carson who is three seats away. Carson glares at Jack while cheering on Lucy and she hide her laughter at the sight .
When the curtains close and Lucy’s costars all ambush her in hugs, Macy prepares for the worse. Carson goes over to Jack who hasn’t noticed him yet.
“Car don’t do anything stupid.” Carson just ignores her and he taps on Jacks shoulder.
Carson looks very different from what he did when he was 11. He now had a mullet and an eyebrow piercing (one that his friend did in his garage one day much to Lucy’s disapproval). But he was also now 6’0 and had a scarier demeanor. Honestly Jack was only able to recognize him from a photo Lucy had posted on her instagram. Jack goes to say something but Carson holds his hand up.
“Save it, as much as I never wanted to see you ever again, she wants you here so I respect that you came.” Carson softly grabs Macy’s hand, “we are going to the stage exit to go meet up with her. She takes 20 minutes to get out of all her makeup and costume. If you finally want to act like a man and treat my sister like she deserves you are welcome to join us, but if you are only here cause your latest one night stand stood you up or something like that, don’t waste her time and go back to Jersey.”
Jack is stunned as Carson and Macy walk away, but he quickly regains his composure and follows after them. While waiting outside, Jack watches the couple interact. He sees grumpy Carson and his happy girlfriend who is trying to calm him down. He smiles as he remembers how grumpy he got after a bad practice or a bad game and how Lucy would cheer him up.
Actors and actresses leave one by one until it’s time for Lucy. She is radiant as she greets fans and signs playbills. At the end of the group of fans was where Carson ,Macy and Jack stood. When she finally gets to Jack she couldn’t look away.
Carson pulls her out of her trance by hugging her. Macy joins making it a group hug. The teens hold on for a second before letting Lucy go.
“You did amazing out there.” Macy was always star struck at Lucy’s talents, reminiscent of how Carson idolized Jack.
“We are going to head home, I’ll drive your car.” Carson says grabbing Lucy’s car key. He then looks at Jack and then back at Lucy, “Don’t do anything stupid, but also don’t be afraid to give him another chance. I hate to say this, but I always like how happy he made you.”
“Thanks Car.” She leans up and kisses her brother’s forehead before he turns to Jack.
“Don’t fuck this shit up. Break her heart again and I’ll put your ass on the long term injury list.” Jack nods as Macy pulls Carson away.
“Damn when did he get scary?” Jack and Lucy laugh. When the laughter dies down, she looks at Jack with the same adoration she had for him when they were kids.
“You came.” Finally she hugs him, after many years yearning for his warmth.
“Of course I made it.” He says returning the hug. “I so told you that you would be the hottest green chick.”
Playfully she shoves Jack who just laughs. To get away from the crowd they walk to Jack’s car and on the walk they catch up.
“So Carson lives out here now?” Jack recalls Carson saying that he was going home earlier.
“Yeah I got custody of him about a year ago. Mom passed away shortly after you left and dad just got worse. It was no place for him, so I took my dad to court.” She shivers slightly so Jack gives her his jacket before she continues her story. “I have no idea what I’m doing raising a 16 year old, luckily my neighbor helped me out and now Carson is dating their daughter Macy.”
“You know from the small interactions I saw them have, they remind me of us.” Jack test the waters and holds her hand, which she gladly accepts, “Speaking about brothers, Luke and Quinn miss you.”
“How about you Jack, did you miss me?”
“More than anything.”
Jack opens the car door for Lucy and helps her get in before he got into the driver side.
“So miss Broadway do you have any plans tonight or can I take you out to eat?” Jack says while putting his seatbelt on.
“ I have no plans Mr NHL.But if we are going out I need time order delivery for Carson and Macy” Jack pulls out his credit card from his wallet.
“Use my card.” She tries to decline his card, but he shakes his head, “Lucy it’s the least I could do.”
She sighs before calling Macy to ask what they want for dinner. After she got the response, Lucy went and ordered food for the teens. She tried to enter her card, but Jack snatched her phone and entered his card instead.
“So now that, that’s take care of. Would you like to go out to dinner?” He hands her the phone back.
“You know I could really go for a good burger and fries, that’s if your professional team of dietitians would allow that.” Jack smiles remembering one of his favorite dates with her.
Jack had just gotten his license and he was driving around in Quinn’s hand me down car. Right after passing his drivers test, he drove straight to Lucy’s house.
“So where does the princess want to go?” Jack asked as she got into the car.
“You know I could really go for a burger and fries.” She gets into her seat and Jack takes her to their favorite local diner.
When they arrive, the host seats them at their favorite table. While they wait for their food, Lucy tells Jack about her day.
“And in front of everyone my voice cracked, god it was so embarrassing, Jacky.” She hides her face at the memory.
“I bet you have the cutest voice cracks.” The love struck boy laughs as his girl rolls her eyes at him.
“No voice cracks are cute Jacky.”
“Well yours are cause they come from you.” Their food finally arrives and they both grab a fry off the other person’s plate. Something they have done since they started dating. They called it ‘checking for poison’ but it was just one of those silly couple things.
“I love these little moments.” Lucy says as she bites into Jack’s fry.
“Well we have a whole lifetime full of little moments waiting for us.” He says while eating Lucy’s fry.
“A burger and fries sound wonderful, Lulu.”
Tumblr media
The two had dinner and it was like nothing changed. They shared food like normal, they talked like it was just a normal Wednesday dinner.
They finished their food and were getting ready to head out and of course Jack paid. Afterwards the two sit in Jack’s car, which was another thing they did often when they dated.
“You’re telling me that Carson became an islander fan after everything happened?” Jack chuckles at Carson’s pettiness.
“Yeah, he even forced me to take him to a game, where we met a few of the players.” She pulls up a picture they took where Carson was wearing a islander jersey and Lucy was just in a normal sweater as they stood next to a couple players, “One of the guys actually asked for my number.”
“Which guy?” Jack felt himself getting jealous.
“Oh Jacky I don’t even remember.” Of course she did after all she did give him her number. But she looks away from Jack. “Even if I did it was a year ago Jack.”
“You obviously do remember, you won’t look at me right now.” Jack doesn’t mean to be sassy towards Lucy, but let’s be honest, being sassy is in his dna.
“Why does it matter Jack? You’ve had other girlfriends why couldn’t I date someone else?” Lucy tries not to cry, but a few tears slip out, “Do you know how hard it was to watch you have other girlfriends while I stayed stuck on you. Yes I did give the Islander player my number, but I told him I wasn’t interested in a relationship. I told every guy that had any interest in me that I wasn’t interested. You want to know why Jack? Because they weren’t you.”
Jack stayed silent not knowing what to say.
“And now you just come back here like you didn’t single handed break my heart last time I saw you,. Oh wait I didn’t even see you when it happened did I Jack.” She cries some more finally letting all of her emotions out. “I should hate you, I really should. But tell me why I feel nothing but love for you.”
“Lucy, there is nothing I regret more than, breaking up with you. I was a coward, but please give me another chance.” He wipes away her tears, “Those girls were my failed attempts on forgetting you, but nothing worked. I know I don’t deserve it but please give me a second chance.”
“I don’t know Jack, I don’t want to promise you anything. But I can say, I’m willing to try again slowly.” Jack smiles and he holds her hand.
“That’s all I could ask for.”
Tumblr media
Between hockey games and Lucy’s shows, the two spent any free time together. Despite the busy schedules, they found the time to go out. Tonight, Lucy was singing the national anthem at Jack’s game versus the Islanders.
“Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome the star of broadway’s Wicked, Lucy Masters, with the singing of our national Anthem.”
The crowd cheers before getting silent for Lucy. She sings beautifully and when she hits the high note at the end, the crowd went wild. The song finishes, and she finally locks eyes with Jack. She gives him a little wave before she is ushered off the ice.
At the end of the game, the devils won 4-0. Carson ,who surprisingly wore a Hughes 43 jersey instead of his regular Islander Barzal 13 Jersey, was hyped by the win. He went into a rant as the pair waited for Jack to leave the locker room.
“Damn I miss hockey.” Lucy loves seeing Carson happy more than anything. She was glad that he decided to come, seeing it as a step in the right direction.
“You know if you aren’t too rusty at it, we can go shoot the puck together one day.” Both Lucy and Carson look over and see Jack. He pulls Lucy into a hug. “Hands down the best performance of the night goes to you Miss Lucy.”
“I am not so sure about that, a shut out game and both you and Timo getting two points? Much more impressive.” Lucy praises Jack causing Carson to gag.
“Come on Carson, let’s leave the lovers alone.” Luke comes out of nowhere and directs Carson towards his car. Lucy and Carson were spending the night at Jack and Luke’s place so they didn’t have to drive back to New York this late. So Luke was okay with driving Carson back while Jack and Lucy have a car to themselves. Carson leaves with Luke, but not until he sent a few menacing glares at Jack.
“Just so you know, the team chirped the hell out of me when Luke told them how scared I am of Carson.” To be fair, now that Carson is one of the best high school prospects of the 2025 class and has scouts coming to almost every game now, especially since he is a leftie, he’s a scary teenager.
“In your defense, his pitch is reaching an average of 88 miles per hour as a junior. I would be scared of him too.” Jack looks at Lucy and smiles as he sees her in his jersey.
“You look so good in my number.” He steps back and acts like he is taking a photo of her with an invisible camera, “Picture perfect baby.”
“Jacky you are such a dork.”She turns around and walks away while smiling. Jack runs up behind her and pulls her into a hug.
“I’ll gladly be a dork if that means I’m your dork.”
Jack had been miserable as Lucy was gone at a two week long theater camp. Luke thought if Lucy didn’t get home soon, Quinn would kill Jack. The day she was coming back, Jack sat by the door waiting for Ellen to come back with Lucy. He originally wanted to come with but he forgot to finish his chores the night before so Ellen made him stay home and wait.
When his mom’s car pulls in to the driveway, Jack bolts out the door, almost like a wild animal. Lucy gets out of the car and Jack tackles her in a hug. He gives her small kisses all over her face.
“I missed you, I missed you, I missed you.” Jack repeats this mantra as Lucy struggles to wiggle out of his hold. All the while, Lucy is dying of laughter.
“Get off me you dork.” It takes Quinn pulling Jack off to get Lucy free. He then picks up Lucy like a sack of potatoes and runs away from Jack. The boys run around, as Jack tries to get Lucy back.
“Quinn put the poor girl down.” Ellen calls out. Quinn puts Lucy down carefully and Jack runs over and grabs on to Lucy like a kid hold their favorite toy.
“Fear not fair damsel, your hero has saved you from the ugly ass troll.” (QUINN BABY DON’T LISTEN TO THIS YOU ARE VERY PRETTY) Quinn just flips off his brother before heading back into the house, “I think your hero deserves a kiss for saving you.”
“You’re lucky I find you cute, you dork.” Lucy pulls him down into a kiss. Jack can’t help but smile.
“I may be a dork, but I’m your dork.”
“You’ll always be my dork Jacky.” Lucy pulls him down into a kiss. Their first kiss in five years. Jack would freeze time and live in this moment forever if he could. Sadly time has to go on and the pair pull apart. “Let’s go home Jacky.”
Hand in hand, they leave the arena, full of hope for the future of their relationship.

a Jackie Taylor character analysis
or, why—
Tumblr media
[I'm serious btw. this is ~3800 words, or about 15 minutes reading time.]
──── ◦✦◦ ────
The Facts of the Case
Tumblr media
"For the record... I was trying to save you." Jackie. 1996, 1x02
(Nothing else Jackie ever says sums up who she is more succinctly than that.)
Our first real introduction to Jackie Taylor as a character—the first shot of her bedroom scene in 1x01—is a framed photo of her sitting close to Shauna, at a party. This is also the very first protagonist-centric character scene of the entire show; from the outset, we are told that the relationship between Jackie and Shauna will be critically important to the narrative. They are best friends, it's implied they do practically everything together, and right from their very first scenes we see how important they are to each other.
Yet likewise from the beginning, we see the fractures between them.
Shauna hides her acceptance to Brown from Jackie, and is uncomfortable with the assumption that she will be following her friend to Rutgers. She disapproves of Jackie's boyfriend sneaking out of her room, and is frustrated by Jackie telling her what to wear and who to hook up with. She is visibly upset at seeing Jackie and her boyfriend together at a party, and, on the way home, has sex with said boyfriend.
Jackie makes her boyfriend drop her off from the party first, forcing Shauna to wait much longer to get home. After Shauna chooses a rival plan for survival over hers, she gives her the cold shoulder, even actively tries to make her jealous. Jackie steals and reads Shauna's journal, and outs her pregnancy to the rest of the team. She sleeps with the only eligible man in the wilderness, just to try and hurt Shauna.
Jackie and Shauna may care deeply about each other, but we see them spending an awful lot of time driving wedges into the space between themselves.
So why do they behave this way? Why does Jackie fidget sadly with her necklace, why does she look at Shauna the way she does before giving the necklace to her, why is she so heartbroken over a boy she says she barely even likes, why is she so crestfallen at the idea Shauna lost her virginity without telling her, why does she pull Travis away at Doomcoming and look back at Shauna the whole time? Why does Shauna seem to think Jackie has abruptly backtracked with Jeff, why is she so disapproving when she sees Jackie leave Doomcoming with Travis, or when she sees Jeff leave her house? Why does she look so heartbroken when she sees Jackie and Jeff dancing together at the party? Why are they both so hurt and hardened towards each other at the end of it all, and yet why does Shauna's heart still seize in anguish the next morning?
I believe all of those questions have the same, straightforward answer:
Before the crash, Jackie and Shauna were hooking up with each other in secret, and never mentioning a word of it—let alone talking through their feelings for each other.

Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved
Tumblr media
"[Jeff and I have] been together for so long that if we're each others' firsts, then we'll be linked forever. It's more poetic that way. Oh! That reminds me—I decided on a color palette for our room at Rutgers next year." Jackie. 1996, 1x01
They make an unspoken habit of it; one always dragging the other away at parties after a few drinks under the pretense of mere friendly accompaniment. Jackie is reluctant to go all the way with her boyfriend Jeff; even after four years together, something always holds her back. She knows (or strongly believes, anyway, which is the same thing) that that's not entirely normal, and she wants more than anything to be normal, so she takes it in stages. She builds up to it with her boyfriend—slowly—and with her best friend—less slowly, but more comfortably. And it's fine—because Shauna is a girl, after all. Nothing they do together even counts. It's just fun. It's practice, for the real thing. It doesn't count.
But tipsy trysts alone aren't enough to fully explain the dynamic we see. Jackie had a change of heart regarding Jeff—what happened? Shauna seems a little hurt but also genuinely confused that they're back together at the beginning of the show, and even more so that Jackie intends to sleep with him 'for real' before college. I don't believe guilt over her actions fully accounts for her reaction. No, there is something else here, too; I think that, as important as Jackie and Shauna's clandestine hookups are to their dynamic, just as important is the fact that at some point they end. It's Jackie who puts a stop to them, possibly in the midst of the final time it happens.
I think Jackie, at a party some time around the beginning of the show—and maybe even giddy with the fresh excitement of a game or championship win—allows herself to be swept away in the moment with her best friend. Maybe she catches herself about to push too far with Shauna, about to venture into territory that she would have real trouble pretending "doesn't count," even with alcohol and adrenaline buzzing through her veins. Maybe she catches herself wishing that this could be her normal, that she could be with Shauna instead of Jeff. The specifics aren't what matters.
I think Jackie has long been vaguely aware that what she feels for Shauna falls outside of what you would expect for a friend, even a best friend. Normally, she doesn't give it a second thought; it's Shauna, of course it feels different. This time, though, she has a moment of extreme clarity about what exactly it is they're doing, and what it means that she wants it. More specifically, Jackie realizes what it says about her that she craves everything with Shauna that she cannot bring herself to crave with Jeff.
Jackie is in love with her best friend—and that makes her gay.
Jackie realizes, and the knowledge terrifies her.

The Necklace
Tumblr media
"And, here... it's a good-luck charm. Now nothing can touch you." Jackie. 1996, 1x01
Our attention is drawn to Jackie's heart pendant four times in the pilot episode. In order: we see it on the body of the girl hunted in the cold open, we see Jackie fidget with it after brushing her teeth, we see her fidget with it again during the pep rally, and we see her give it to Shauna on the airplane before takeoff. Three of the four scenes feature Jackie, with only the first finding her absent. That initial sighting certainly seems the most cryptic—we learn very quickly that it's Jackie's necklace, so why is someone else wearing it?
While we would need to see through Shauna's eyes to truly satisfy that question, for now at least the fourth scene—in the airplane—provides an answer: the necklace has nomadic tendencies. Jackie gives it as a protective charm to Shauna, who doesn't seem at all surprised by the gesture. Quite the contrary, exchanging the heart feels more like a known ritual between the two, maybe even first established during the trip to Hilton Head that Jackie references in preamble. (This ritual will be repeated—in the other direction—when Shauna gives Jackie a pep talk in 1x05.) Shauna holds the pendant close, clutching it with her entire fist. The thing seems just as precious to her now as it does to Jackie in the remaining scenes; perhaps it was originally a gift from one to the other?
Regardless of whether or not we are meant to infer that the necklace was a gift, in the pep rally scene we are explicitly shown that Jackie does strongly associate it with Shauna. It's a very brief moment in comparison to the full scene we get on the airplane—just one look exchanged, a set of smiles shared. After the Yellowjackets stream into the gym and line up to victorious music, Shauna looks past Lottie over to Jackie. And Jackie is already looking back, smiling as she plays with the heart pendant. Shauna's own grin widens, full and genuine, until it reaches all the way to her eyes. Jackie savors the look for a moment, then glances away, smile unbroken... her goal seemingly achieved.
What goal?
The bathroom scene is an even quicker blip than the gym, yet I believe it's the most impactful and telling of the four. One single shot with a punch-in. Jackie brushes her teeth quickly and then gazes in the mirror, looking forlorn as she fiddles with the necklace. On its own this one scene is not particularly remarkable—its true significance comes from the two others it glues together.
The scene preceding is the aforementioned bedroom introduction. Jackie is in bed with Jeff and he is clearly pushing their activities farther than she finds comfortable. Jackie fakes it to get things over with, powering through as he tells her he loves her. She lets Jeff think he's doing well... and as her immediate reward is coaxed into reciprocating his advances, and then some.
Jackie scrubs her teeth violently. She is unhappy.
The scene following is the car ride with Shauna where we learn that Jackie has suddenly gotten back together with Jeff. When Shauna brings him up, Jackie laughs and shrugs it off, but not before a flash of nervousness escapes in her chuckle—she tries twice to change the subject away from her boyfriend, only finding success once they pass a sign prompting her to talk shit on the boys' baseball team by singing the praises of the girls' own soccer team. Jackie leans out the window as her best friend rolls her eyes and giggles at her antics.
Jackie whoops for joy. She is happy.
Viewed as a whole, the sequence paints a clear picture: Jackie does not truly want to be with her boyfriend. She is unhappy both while and after she is alone with Jeff, happy while alone with Shauna, and while truly alone between the two encounters, draws some kind of strength from the necklace we know she associates with Shauna. In the car, she is eager to turn conversation away from her boyfriend and onto her best friend.
In her mind, everything she's doing with Jeff, everything she's letting him do with her? She is doing it to save her friendship with Shauna. She is working to build plausible deniability.
"I have a curfew too, you know." "Yeah, but... you know what my parents are like." Shauna and Jackie. 1996, 1x01
Conformity is the only weapon Jackie has against her parents' expectations, and naturally she is an expert in its misuse. Plausible deniability is the only tool at her disposal to avoid scaring Shauna away, and so Jackie picks up a double major. Half her work is already done; it's not like they'd ever talked about what they were doing or what it meant, so she can count on Shauna to never bring it up—as long as Jackie withdraws to the safety of being normal best friends.
If Shauna knew the truth, if she knew what Jackie cannot un-know... she would walk away, their friendship ruined, and it would be Jackie's fault. It would be Jackie's fault for being this way, and so the other half of her work must be undertaken. Jeff is living proof that whatever they've done together wasn't real, that Jackie could never be interested in her friend that way. Jeff, therefore, must stay, so that Shauna will stay. Jackie must be strong, for Shauna.
Each of the three necklace scenes Jackie has in the pilot shows us something very specific about her relationship to Shauna. On the airplane, Jackie wraps Shauna in her love—for protection. In the privacy of her bathroom, Jackie wraps herself in Shauna's love—for strength.
And in the gym, in public, Jackie suns herself in the warmth of their friendship—her strength rewarded.

Abandonment and the Wilderness
Tumblr media
"What did I do? When did you stop wanting me to be your best friend?" Jackie. 1996, 1x07
The thought of Shauna replacing her with another is something Jackie dreads above almost all else. Whether in conflict, in resolution, or both, most of the battles and the skirmishes that we see play out between the two revolve around this fear.
Shauna gets upset and causes trouble at the party in the woods before seeming hurt that Jackie hasn't complimented her, so Jackie attempts reassurance by emphasizing how important their friendship is. Her choice of approach here seems at least partly motivated by a guilty conscience (with a side of projection): deep down, she knows that she is trying to replace Shauna... with Jeff. Jackie feels guilty for ending their hookups in favor of her boyfriend, so she assuages that guilt by firmly stating no, Shauna, you're not going anywhere. Jeff could never be my best friend. Only you. This fight ends when Shauna confirms she understands her importance to Jackie.
(As an aside, the timid "Hi" and "Are... are we cool?" Jackie greets Shauna with after the team-building exercise have such a soft lilt to them that they seem decidedly more than friendly.)
After the crash, Shauna snubs Jackie's plan for survival in favor of Taissa's—so Jackie gets buddy-buddy with Mari. Here, Jackie nakedly projects her fear through her actions: Shauna wants to choose Tai over Jackie, well, we'll see how she likes it when Jackie chooses Mari over Shauna. Things are only patched over between them when Shauna comes to Jackie with extra blankets saying she is scared and needs her best friend. Jackie melts at once.
This next one is not really a fight, but does involve reassurance: when the team grows annoyed with Jackie for not pitching in, Shauna pulls her aside to try and find something she can do. Jackie flunks out of badass butchering school, so Shauna switches gears to attempt a pep talk, which goes badly until she lands on the winning words.
"You taught me how to be like this, you know. You make people think things are gonna be okay, just by showing up and being your dumb, hot, awesome self. At least you always did that for me." Shauna. 1996, 1x05
Jackie softens, but holds firm on putting a knife through a deer knee, which Shauna accepts, but counters that Jackie still needs to find something to do. "We need you, Jackie." Shauna pulls out her trump card—she returns the heart pendant to its place around Jackie's neck. "I mean, you're basically the best, remember?" she says. Jackie preens, and a hug seals the deal.
By the time Taissa leads her ill-fated expedition away from the cabin, Shauna has been sneaking around around conspiring with her for a while, so Jackie jumps on the opportunity to corner her and demand an answer. This fight also happens to be when Jackie finally gives voice to the worry she carries; she openly wonders what she could have done to make Shauna want to replace her. And again, the fight ends not so much when Shauna spills a half-truth, but when Shauna allows her to simply be there. Jackie's relief is palpable as she stays cheerful for her best friend, wrapping her in maybe the tightest hug we see throughout the entire show.
Throughout the entire season, virtually all conflict between Jackie and Shauna can ultimately be solved—in Jackie's view, at least—by a reassurance that they will still be best friends no matter what. That is the core of the matter to Jackie, the driving force behind everything she does; she can withstand any blow, weather any storm as long as her best friend remains by her side. Shauna's love will carry her through.
Jackie fears being replaced, because more than anything... she fears being unloved.

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi
Tumblr media
"It's funny, I used to pretend I didn't know if I loved Jeff, when the truth is: I didn't even like him that much. And I was so mad at Shauna, but now I realize she's right! Friendship doesn't matter. Love? Doesn't matter. They're just things we use to pretend like we aren't gonna end up like dead cabin guy, like rotted-out husks in some bullshit attic. But of course that's how it ends. That's all we are the whole time. It doesn't matter. We're just shells with nothing inside." Jackie. 1996, 1x09
Whatever reassurance Jackie has gleaned by the time of the pregnancy half-confession is shattered once again by the revelations contained in Shauna's journal—and yet, she doesn't seem to give up on Shauna entirely... until the end of their explosive argument.
Jackie spends the bulk of 1x08 and 1x09 depressed, bitchy, and passive-aggressive, yes—but through it all, she tries to make things work. She outs Shauna's pregnancy to lend urgency to Laura Lee's mission, but conspicuously deflects questions about the father, despite having the opportunity to go for the jugular. She does her Doomcoming preparations side by side with Shauna, makes her entrance to the party itself next to Shauna; continues to smile at Shauna when she's not looking.
Jackie doesn't cut ties with Shauna—to the contrary, she gives her multiple opportunities to course-correct. When Shauna confronts her about spilling the secret of her pregnancy to the group, Jackie responds with "It's not really the time to be keeping secrets." While wandering through the forest together picking flowers for decoration, Jackie brings up Rutgers before asking "You ever think about what we'd be doing if we hadn't crashed?" and stating—even more plainly—"What if this is it, Shauna? Everything we did, everything we didn't do? All the mistakes that we made, it's like... permanent." In both cases, Jackie knows what Shauna is still trying to keep from her—Jeff, Brown—and is handing her an opening to come clean.
When Shauna deflects away from her mistakes, Jackie scoffs. "Well, I was naïve. I realize that now," she muses.
Jackie still looks back at Shauna to make sure her friend is watching as she leaves the dance on her way to sleep with Travis; to make sure she cares. Just like she did with Mari at the lake, Jackie is trying to inflame Shauna's jealousy—all the way up until the very end, right up to the moment when uncertainty becomes lost to her entirely, Jackie still holds onto hope that deep down, Shauna cares for her.
In her attic confession to Travis, Jackie contrasts friendship with love—directly after explicitly stating that she never loved Jeff.
She is very obviously talking about Shauna.
Shauna was supposed to be the one person who truly loved her. The one person who loved Jackie, not as a soccer captain (like the team did), or as just a girl (like her boyfriend did), or as the mirage of perfect daughter (like her parents did), but loved her as her, as Jackie. Shauna's journal reveals even that to be a lie.
Jackie sees now... she sees that none of it matters.
The curse of the viewer is that we see what Jackie never does. We see morning light fall on the snow, sparkling. We see Shauna fall on her knees, screaming. We see the inhabited meat shed, and the pyre, and the bacchanal, and the empty meat shed, and the bridge and the uniform and the childhood bedroom. Jackie, however, is neither prophetic nor clairvoyant; all she sees is an incomplete account of Shauna's actions. She certainly doesn't see the whole picture, can't imagine the chain of events that drove Shauna to such extremes. Jackie is hurt, not over Jeff—though he provides her with a convenient excuse to the others—but over what Shauna being willing to sleep with him says to her about how Shauna must view their friendship.
Shauna has told her that love and friendship don't matter. The romantic love Jackie knew she didn't feel for Jeff, the romantic love she believed Shauna didn't feel for her, and the platonic love she believed Shauna did; none of them mattered, none of them ever existed. Jackie shaped herself into a shell by pretending, a shell perfectly tailored to accept what Shauna was willing to give—only to find that what her friend really handed to her was rotting faster than Jackie could build the husk around it. But it's not until the night after Doomcoming that Shauna twists the knife in Jackie's heart, removing any last shred of doubt.
And that, more than anything else, is what breaks Jackie in the end; the knowledge that Shauna never cared for her.
"I'm sure everyone back home is so FUCKING sad to be losing their perfect little princess, but they'll never know how tragic, and boring, and insecure you really are. Or how high school was the best your life was EVER gonna get." "Fuck you." Shauna and Jackie. 1996, 1x10
"I don't even know who you are anymore." "Or maybe you never did." The last words Jackie and Shauna ever spoke to each other. 1996, 1x10
Jackie was trying her best, she really was. She offered Shauna her love in the form of everything she endured to keep Jeff in front of her, and therefore to keep their friendship intact. Shauna knows Jeff is her boyfriend, she knows he's off-limits, and yet she gets pregnant by him anyway. Jeff is Jackie's shield (her beard; not that she would know THAT term), her proof that all is right and she can be normal. Shauna ripped that protection away from her. From Jackie's perspective, she saw Shauna take her love, crush it underfoot, and spit right in her face. Not only does Shauna not love her back the way Jackie wants, but she doesn't love her even as a friend.
Jackie is, at this point, totally convinced that no scrap even of the friendship she was so desperately clinging to really exists. Everything she feels for Shauna is unrequited—everything except, of course, the anger and the hurt. So when her attempt to banish Shauna backfires and she is told to leave instead, Jackie listens; she walks outside to reenact the ending of Romeo & Juliet.
Jackie tried hard, so hard, not to let her baggage—her longing—ruin her most valued friendship, or push away the most important person in her life... and in the end it was all for nothing. She lost her anyway.
Or worse, she never even had her in the first place.
Tumblr media
On her way to oblivion, Jackie dreams of being loved.

If you read all the way to the end here, you're the best, especially cause tumblr posts are so <--> narrow. I'm sorry for leaving things on such a downer note... but Yellowjackets do be that way.
this has been Jackie's side of things—I have a partially-written follow-up half from Shauna's perspective, but it has proven even harder to stick to some semblance of objectivity when arguing from Shauna's POV than it was for Jackie. if this one resonates with people I might refactor and finish part 2, we'll see.
in the meantime though, if you agree with my conclusions in this essay and hunger for a taste of Shauna's side, check out this "Jackie lives" fic I wrote:
featuring 4k of Tai trying to get Shauna to use her words, followed by 6k of Shauna's words! I wrote it between bouts of working on this (some snippets I cut from the Shauna section for being too un-essay-like made it in there), and it pretty much assumes everything I talk about here, both Jackie's-character-wise and jackieshauna-history-wise, holds true. except, of course, the part where Jackie stays dead lol

God, you're so good at what you do
Three dates and she was a goner.
His charming smile, charismatic, playful tone, gentleman like manner when he picked her up, dropped her off and was with her in public.
Jack Hughes was, in her opinion, destined to be her forever. After three dates turned into daily events, whether it be Netflix and chill, a fancy dinner or just a spontaneous late night drive. Three months in she met his family and when the season approached with an unsavory haste she made the bold move to follow him to Jersey.
Then it started.
And I'd put myself through hell for you
Hear all the rumors lately

Throughout the preseason, you were just naively learning the lay of the land. Jack being his usual charming self helped, he introduced you to the other wags and showed you around the city, he quelled your fears and held you while you cried about missing home.
Scared and quite frankly, alone in this new city you just continued following blindly.
Three weeks into the season, Jack had seemed to settle back into his habits. The good and the bad.
Partying most nights after wins, most you weren’t invited to go with him to. You always obeyed him, if he asked that you stayed home, you did. Even though this meant you spent most nights at home, crying yourself to sleep after scrolling through social media and seeing the various photos of Jack with other girls. Close enough with these girls that the tabloids were speculating about who he was dating.
How silly you were to trust him when he came home, kissed the tears off your cheeks when you confronted him about them and reassured you that you were the only one he wanted.
You mean all the words you said.
I’m sure that girl is really your friend.
“Jacky, talk to me. What’s going on, you barely talk to me anymore!” she had exclaimed in frustration after Jack had again stumbled in reeking of floral perfume and alcohol.
“What are - hic - you talking about, baby! We live together, it’s hard not to talk to each other!” he grinned dopily at her whilst toeing out of his shoes, shrugging off his jacket and stumbling towards her. “Let's go to bed, I’m tired!”
“Alright Jack.” she sighed disappointedly accepting his over the top embrace as he pulled her clumsily down the hallway to their shared bedroom.
-
“Hey Jack, could we talk about something really quickly please.” she called out into the hallway from the door frame of the bedroom.
“Yeah sure, but make it quick. I’m going to Nico’s for drinks and I need to leave soon.” he spoke distractedly looking at his phone as he walked down the hallway and into the bedroom, shutting the door behind him.
“Ok, uh. It’s about more photos that have surfaced of you… with other girls.” you spoke quietly but after the look that crossed Jack’s aggravated face your rushed, “I know you wouldn’t do anything! I just get scared.”
She had every right to be.
“She’s just a friend Y/N! You have no right to be scared! Are you really that insecure!”
'Cause loving you is loving every
Argument you held over my head
Brought up the girls you could have instead
“Y/N I swear to God! If you talk to me about one more picture of me with girls I might be dating! I might just!” Jack screamed
“You might just what Jack?” You yelled back “what might you do!”
“I might just go to some of those girls! They’re perfect Y/N, they would bug me about this plus, they have very nice bodies!” He yelled, and under his breath I swear I heard him mumble “better that you.”
And now you got me thinking
Two plus two equals five
And I'm the love of your life
'Cause if rain don't pour and sun don't shine
Then changing you is possible
“Y/N, you can’t keep coming to my place like this after you and Jack have a fight saying you can fix him.” Your friend chastised, soothingly rubbing your hand and you sobbed in her arms on her entryway floor.
“But I can!” You sobbed “I can-plea-let me!”
“Honey, for your own sake.” She whispered resting her head on yours.
-
‘Goodbye Jack,’ you mumbled to the apartment you once called home. ‘I hope your happy.’
A single tear rolled down your check as you dropped the note.
No, love is never logical.

Hey :)
Can you do some headcanons about jealous!nat please? (I can't stop thinking about how this was probably the only reason she confessed her feelings for Reader... she was just so tired of other people flirting with R and her not being able to do anything about it)
i think that only like pre-relationship nat would be like jealous. i think relationship nat would be more like sad/upset more than jealous if that makes sense
Nat gets super passive aggressive when she's jealous and hates herself for it. hits you with a “i don't know. why don't you ask Lottie" and visibly cringes as she realizes she sounds like Jackie
makes backhanded compliments about whoever it is all night if you know them. if you don't know them she's insulting their shoes, their hair, the way they're holding their cup, how they stand, the frames of their glasses, etc.
staring at you so broodily while you're talking to someone that Shauna starts to feel like her title is being threatened
taking sips of her beer off by herself while doing high pitched impressions of your conversation. “oh you're so funny”/”no you're so funny,” while mocking their laugh
quotes the conversation later to you after she gets drunk enough that she doesn't remember it didn't actually happen. all like “i think you're funnier than she does, just so you know,” and you're like “huh???”
modern au nat def trying to get them canceled for sure. walks off to talk to whoever she was jealous about and says some shit like “what? you don't like Italians? wowwwwww” loud enough that the whole party can hear her. looks cartoonishly smug as she walks back to you
“do you think I'm pretty, y/n?”/ “what??”/ “shut up. no one asked you.”
Nat does so much reckless shit when she's jealous, knowing that it'll immediately get your attention. catching Kevin lifting her onto the roof out of the corner of your eye sends you running away from whoever you were talking to. she insists that everything was under control till you came over and yelled at her, but her bruises from when Kevin almost immediately dropped her say otherwise

pls Please PLEASE!! give me more of our girl Shauna, she's so precious I swear🥹, I am going crazy over the fact that there's not enough Shauna fics over here, I love our brown sad doe-eyed girlfriend🥺
Tumblr media
tied me to you
pairings. shauna shipman x reader
being childhood best friends to lovers with shauna is something so personal to me!
she’s so underrated when it comes to fics it hurts…i haven’t proof read this yet so sorry if there’s any mistakes!
-
you met shauna through your parents. they had all known each other since they were teenagers and just so happened to have children at the same time as one another, meaning that you’d been having play dates and gatherings with the shipman family for as long as you could remember.
the pair of you were both incredibly shy children around anyone else but each other. together, you were both completely comfortable and more outgoing. you even had a secret language that only you two knew, and you would talk in it for hours.
you had grown up doing absolutely everything together and were basically attached at the hip, growing another extension when mrs taylor started dropping jackie off to join you for play dates too.
shauna had always been far too nervous to do certain things on her own, so you always went along with her, or did it for her without hesitation. it was just natural to you, and as you got older it was the other way around.
you joined soccer together at the age of six, and were always eachother’s biggest supporters in games. you’d practically tackle eachother to the ground in hugs whenever either of you scored or did something good.
even in your teenage years, your dynamic barely altered, and your parents would always joke and say you’d be cute as a couple at their dinner parties, earning embarrassed groans and blushes from the two of you (who were in complete denial) before you stressed that you were just best friends.
your parents knew long before both of you did.
you went through it all together, whether you were laughing together in the best of times or crying together in absolute worst, she was your rock, and you, hers.
even though you both were insistent that you were just friends, you were constantly mistaken for a couple. even by jackie, who had grown up with you both, and most of the team had assumed that you were together when they met you both.
despite the constant clarifying that you weren’t together, as you both grew up and got bigger, so did your feelings for her, and you couldn’t help but think about all of the ‘what if’s’
casual displays of affection were suddenly not so casual anymore.
sharing a bed together when you were out of state for games, because “you’d always done it that way” suddenly made your heart beat ten times faster.
friendly looks turning into longing ones over time.
and before you knew it you started seeing her in a completely different light.
you kept quiet about your growing feelings for her because you were terrified that they were one sided, and that you didn’t want to ruin the lifelong bond that you shared. after all, you would rather be silently miserable than deal with the potential rejection that loomed.
whenever you said “i love you” to eachother, something you’d previously said a million times, your heart ached - because you knew she meant ‘just as a friend’
little did you know however, shauna felt the exact same way about you, and had for even longer than you did. she had always had a crush on you, a part of her always knew that, but she was far too nervous to ever tell you, just like you were.
she missed you (more than best friends probably should) whenever you weren’t around, even if it was simply just a class that you didn’t have together and she had literally seen you less than an hour ago.
she started to hold onto you for longer in hugs, squeezing you tighter, not wanting to let you go.
her journal became off limits to you, which it never had been before. she filled it with all of her feelings for you that she couldn’t quite say out loud, and she spent more time than ever writing in it.
shauna often found herself staring at you in awe, admiring your beauty - tracing over each of your details in her mind, whilst you thought she had just zoned out, which happened a lot also.
she was always nervous when you complimented her, scratching her neck and avoiding eye contact as her cheeks burned - something she had thought was normal having growing up feeling it, only realising when she received compliments from literally anybody else that it wasn’t.
she also found herself easily jealous over people who she knew you were just friends with.
you were both head over heels in love with eachother, and yet had no idea in the slightest that the other felt exactly the same.
after what felt like an eternity of stolen glances and pep talks with jackie, lottie and tai, who were sick of your shared obliviousness after this many years, shauna finally confessed to you in the year before you both moved to college (together, of course)
she had been so anxious, but both her mother and your own had assured her that she had nothing to worry about.
her confession was one of the most romantic things you’d ever experienced. she’d set up a picnic in her backyard, and had gifted you a stack of her journal pages, dating back years, and revealing all of the feelings she’d ever had for you.
“i have loved you all my life”
“it’s always been you”
she shyly spoke with a gentle smile adorning her face and pure love shining in her big brown eyes, wider than ever.
you just pressed your lips to hers, letting your actions do the talking as tears slipped down your cheeks.
after you started dating, you found out that both of your families AND the team had made several big bets about how long it would take for you to get together.
her mother won. deb shipman was never wrong.
you literally knew each other inside and out, and finally being able to show each other all of the love you had hidden away brought you even closer together, something you had never imagined.
you were so much happier and more free together.
she remembered everything little detail about you, even things from when you were kids. all the ways you like to be comforted, your favourite foods and the exact way you like them cooked, how you like to be held, and what you were thinking just by looking at you.
you once said that you loved flowers, when you were thirteen. it had always been a dream of yours to have someone give you them.
she now always buys you flowers, and keeps on top of when they need a refresh.
you eventually got the journal pages that she’d confessed to you with framed. she continued to write about you, and even for you. short little pieces, and even poems.
“i think something has always tied me to you”

hi!! could you do a dating pre crash shauna hcs list? thank you!! p.s i love ur writing it’s so cute🫶💗
Tumblr media
Thank you lovie <3 I'm glad you like my stuff.
Shauna Shipman General Dating headcanons:
The cutest girls with the biggest brown baby deer eyes.
Comes out of her shell when she’s around you, she’s pretty quiet unless she’s around people she trusts and you’re her #1
She drew you all the time. You were in her room one night and her journal was open on her desk. You caught a glimpse of a drawing of yourself, it was a drawing of you reading on Shauna’s bed next to her window ledge. It made you feel so warm inside.
You so support her art endeavors, gifting the supplies that she wans and in return, she shows you what she’s made. She gets especially excited to show drawings she made of you.
She gives you notes in class,  telling you how much she loves you, how sweet you are, and hoping you have a good day.
Jackie definitely grills you before you start dating Shauna. She doesn’t know much about you other than you were in Shauna’s English class and that she’s completely in love and won’t stop talking about you.
She makes you a little nervous when you first meet, asking you a bunch of questions about your intentions with Shauna, she’s ready for you to slip up. Shauna is a little bit embarrassed and wants her to let up but NOPE she needs to protect her pookie bestie. She just wants the best for her but soon enough you both become best friends as well.
You go to all of her games, even practices and pep rallies. She appreciates the support so much and gets super excited whenever she sees you in the stands.
She’s really protective over you, not afraid of standing up to anyone that talks shit. We saw her defend Nat in the first episode she will get in someone’s face if they don’t back down.
There will definitely be communication problems, she lets things bubble up inside her until they burst at the wrong time. Reassuring her that it’s okay to be open would make your relationship 10 times stronger.
Also is very impulsive, tends to jump to conclusions and doesn’t think things through before she reacts, She ends up in really sticky situations that are hard to get out of. She once saw you talk to a girl from your Math class the girly pop was way too close for comfort. Shauna’s thoughts immediately went to equality upsetting you, she would ghost you for a while, not answer calls or texts, not go to your house as often as she did (ect). Your last straw was when she was lying across a random girl's lap at a party and it broke your heart. You thought she hated you and was cheating on you and you couldn’t think of any reason why she would hurt you like this, she saw you sobbing and immediately felt so guilty and followed you like a lost puppy on the verge of tears begging for your forgiveness.
I think another toxic thing she does is lie. She 100% will if she thinks she’s protecting you. It’s frustrating
Is super intelligent and I think that’s overlooked by everyone, it’s great when she helps you with any type of work you have to do. Homework, projects, anything that requires brain power. She also loves reading with you cuddled up in her bed or your couch, she’s the cutest little bookworm.
You love listening to her talk about her interests. People don’t take time to listen to what she has to say, Her eyes light up whenever she really gets into topics she loves. Sitting with her and observing her be excited makes you happy.
I think her major love languages are quality time and acts of love, her favorite days are when you both can relax together, sitting on the bleachers after practice for a while instead of immediately going home, going to your favorite dining spot for hours, study dates at the library, walking around in the mall. She just wants to be around you, little puppy.
You’re her designated passenger princess, she will happily drive you wherever you’d like. Picking you up and dropping you off from school, mini drive-thru dates where you buy anything you like and binge eat in her car.
NSFW:
I think she’s more dominant in bed, she naturally knows what she wants and likes to be in control, and definitely won’t be scared to bring that into the bedroom
She goes feral if you only wear her team shirt or jacket and nothing else when you’re together at home
Manhandles you while you’re having sex, and will roll her eyes if you get insecure about how heavy you are, especially when she wants you to sit on her face.
Queen of teasing and orgasm denial, fake pouts at you while you beg for release. “Baby wants to cum, you can wait a little more I promise.”
Tbh you do anything she is immediately on her knees, she’s so enamored by you. You’re perfect in her eyes.

Beach Body
Chapter 1
"So she does this every single year for her birthday?" I asked. "What if she wants to do something else?"
"It's a tradition!" Natasha insisted. "It's fun. No, really, it is! Oh, look out for a turning on the left."
"I hate these tiny country roads. And what if it rains one year?" I pointed out.
"It's the start of August, it doesn't rain. There it is, can you see?"
"It can rain in August." I wouldn't let go of this. I turned down the track she'd pointed out.
"There's a pub! We all go to the pub in the village and get pissed instead of having a barbecue on the beach, okay? And it's obviously not going to rain today." Natasha was obviously right about that, bright sunshine illuminating the Welsh countryside around us. "Look, I really don't know what you're worried about."
"I just don't know why I was invited. I've only - there's a car ahead, do you reckon they'll get past if I stop here? - I've only been working with you all for a couple of months, I basically only know you and Jackie." Even I had to admit that I was starting to border on whining at this point.
"But we really like you! And this is a great way to get to know people! Sun, food, a few drinks-"
"I'm driving," I pointed out, interrupting her.
"Well it's bad if you can only have fun if you've gotten drunk," Natasha scolded.
"That's not what I said at-"
"Here! Coming up! Do you see the car park on the left?"
I sighed and parked up, greeting Jackie and a large group of her friends, some familiar, some not. We grabbed various bags of food, drinks and blankets out of the car while we waited for the last few people to arrive. I greeted the few people I knew and introduced myself to some others, promptly forgetting half a dozen names.
Armed with a cool bag of meat slung over one shoulder, and a portable barbecue awkwardly tucked into the crook of my elbow, I joined the line of people making their way across the zigzagging tracks over the dunes leading to the beach. The dunes, while beautiful, were difficult to traverse, and the group split up into small parties, each determined that they'd found the easiest route around or over the steep mounds of sand.
"I'm just saying," I said quietly to Natasha after dropping the barbecue for the third time, looking around to check that Jackie wasn't close enough to hear, "that they are easier beaches to have a barbecue at, y'know."
A loud laugh from behind us, and I turned to see a handsome man I hadn't spoken to yet. "It is a really stupid beach, to be fair," he said, a wide smile on his face.
Jackie's voice came faintly from the next dune over. "What was that?"
"I said it's a fucking stupid beach!" the man called back. He caught my eye, and I must have looked taken aback because he explained: "I'm her brother, I'm allowed to tell her that her annual beach birthday's rubbish." I laughed. "Chris," he stretched a hand out.
I could see the family resemblance to Jackie - the same nose, the same dark blonde hair. Chris immediately put me at ease, with a thick blonde beard framing a constant smile, and deep smile lines around his eyes, despite looking like he was in his early thirties. His handsome face and deep voice set a tingle in my swim shorts.
I took his hand and shook it. "Adam. You must have been doing this your whole life then?"
He laughed loudly. "You'd hope so! No, this is actually a tradition she came up with at about twenty."
"Oh! I sort of assumed it was a childhood thing," I replied.
"That's what she wants you to think. I personally think twenty-eight is a little old to insist on being a special little birthday girl" he shouted this last part across the dunes, and a quiet "fuck off Chris!" came in reply, before he turned to me, and quietly now "but that's just me."
I laughed, his infectious good mood making me forget my earlier reservations about the day. By this point, Natasha was well ahead with some other people from the office and Chris and I were left alone.
"So you work with Jackie?" Chris asked.
"Yeah, just started a few months ago," I replied.
"Enjoying it?"
"Yeah! It's a nice company, people are really friendly." Speaking to Chris, even my boring job was sounding better.
"You're going to have to explain what it is you do, Jackie's never actually been able to make me understand."
"So I'm on the software side, I develop the algorithms that we use to…" I caught myself, realising I was being boring. "I do things with computers that make them make money," I joked.
"Oh my god, I love computers and money!"
"And what about you? What do you do?" I asked.
"Very similar. Computers, money. Sometimes meetings."
"Meetings! Exotic. Is that around Cardiff as well?" I asked.
"Edinburgh." My heart sank, my already slim chances of a date with a handsome, funny man disappearing to nothing. "As much as I think this annual beach birthday is silly, it at least forces me to come back and see everyone."
We walked on for a while, making easy conversation with each other. After a while Chris turned to me. "It's nice to have someone to chat to at this thing. Usually it's just Jackie's work friends talking about office drama and her uni friends talking about decade-old gossip, with me in the middle."
"Surely there's the rest of the family?"
"Nah, she insists on it being young people, but we don't have any cousins, so it ends up just being me. We always do a family thing another night," he shrugged. "Still," he caught my eye and smiled, "I reckon this one will be good."
We heard a small cheer of celebration up ahead as the people in front arrived on the beach, and we sped up, running awkwardly through the sand of the dunes. When we arrived, we dumped our bags in a small pile and helped to spread out the blankets.
I took off my shoes before hesitating, self-conscious of my body. I had a perfectly average body, maybe a little too tall and skinny, but I was always nervous of taking my shirt off in front of other people, lacking the washboard abs and bulging muscles of seemingly all of my friends. I looked around and told myself that no-one would pay me any attention, but I froze, fingers on my top button.
While the other men were wearing swim shorts in various lengths and colours, Chris had stripped off both his fun Hawaiian shirt and particularly short shorts to reveal a pair of bright flowery speedos. His shirt was hiding a subtly chunky body, with a roll of fat sticking out ever so slightly above the colourful lycra, and below, thick legs pooched out ever so slightly where the speedos cut into them. All of this was covered in a veritable pelt of hair, hiding the slight softness of his body.
Chris looked up and caught my eye, and I realised I was staring. I looked away quickly, but could have sworn he gave me a small wink. Emboldened by Chris' confidence and by the lack of notice everyone was paying him, despite the amount of skin he was showing, I unbuttoned my shirt and put it with my shoes.
A while later I walked up to Chris who was manning the various barbecues and settled down next to him. Droplets of salt water still clung to my skin and in my dark chest hair, and I thought the effect was quite sexy, if you ignored all the sand that was sticking to me as well.
"The sea good?" he asked.
"Fucking freezing," I replied.
He smiled and held out a beer to me.
I put up a hand. "Designated driver I'm afraid."
"Fair enough," he pulled the top off and began to drink it himself.
"Are you always in charge of the barbecue?" I asked.
He nodded. "And the beer cooler. It means I get to have more than anyone else without anyone calling me out on it."
I gave a small chuckle. "Good plan," I told him, and took a cheeky look sideways at him. Sure enough, his hairy stomach did look a touch more bloated than it had done earlier. "So your umm…" I cringed at the words even as I formed them, "your girlfriend couldn't make it today?" Smooth Adam. Real smooth.
"Ah, no. My, well my boyfriend had to work." My heart sank. Still, I noticed that his smile shrank ever so slightly when he mentioned his boyfriend.
"Oh! Sorry to assume, I didn't mean to-" I flustered.
"No! No, it's fine really. It happens. Do you? Have a boyfriend?" He held my eyes. "Or girlfriend? Or boyfriend?" His smile was growing again.
"Nope. Single. I broke up with my last boyfriend a while ago." I stressed the word boyfriend more than I meant to. Despite the 400 miles we lived apart, and his boyfriend, I still felt the need to make sure he knew I was gay as well.
"Oh I'm sorry," Chris said.
"Not at all, it was a while ago," I smiled at him. "Just, you know, enjoying being single."
"Yeah, I miss it a little sometimes," Chris said, and I detected an ever so slight sadness in his voice, but he quickly covered it up with his usual, unchanging smile. My heart leapt a little. He was probably just making small talk, sympathising with the lonely singleton, but a boy could dream, couldn't he?
Chris offered me a chicken drumstick. "Have you tried these? They've got like a Korean marinade thing, they're gorgeous. It's like bitter and sweet at the same time. I've had about ten."
I reached over and took it from him, taking a small bite. It was good, and I duly gave a small hum in agreement, but I wouldn't say they were exceptional. Chris picked up on my silence and laughed. "It's probably just me," he told me. "Jackie's always said I'm like a labrador when it comes to food. Food motivated." He beamed at me and picked up another chicken leg, his eyes closing in bliss as he chewed.
I readjusted my shorts ever so slightly. My attraction to Chris was growing as I got to know him - his constant cheerfulness, his small jokes, the way he didn't seem to care what anyone thought about him.
Later that day, I drove back in silence, Natasha passed out after a day of gin in the sun. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face, as I thought back to the day I'd spent mainly with Chris. Despite all the reasons I could never realistically go out with him, I was utterly besotted by the man. I found myself surprised that I was already looking forward to Jackie's 29th.
Chapter 2
"Adam!" Chris called, almost as soon as I'd come from behind the last dune before the beach. "Great to see you!"
I grinned, a little embarrassed. I'd never be able to be so open about being so excited to see someone, but then that's exactly what attracted me to him last year. Paul, a friend from the office, gave me a confused glance which I purposefully ignored. "Hey," I greeted Chris, "looking good man!"
This, I thought to myself, was very true. He was wearing the same flowery speedo as last year, but it now looked positively painted on. He'd clearly put on some weight, last year's roll of flab turning into a sack of fat, suspended above the tight swimwear. His thighs had faint criss-crosses around the tops, not quite hidden by the thick hair there, and his chest now stood ever so slightly forward and down - he didn't quite have moobs, but there were certainly small pockets of fat that weren't there last year. He'd shaved his beard down to stubble, showing just a hint of a double chin forming below his jawline. While I'd never particularly gone in for the overly-ripped, action-man physique, I was still surprised by how much I enjoyed the changes to Chris' body.
I followed Chris back to where some barbecues were already set up. "Got a beer for me in one of those boxes?"
He passed one over. "Not driving this year?"
I nodded over to Natasha, who had a small crowd around her cooing over a small bump at her midriff. "Natasha's pregnant so she's not drinking anyway."
"Handy!" He clinked his bottle against mine and took a swig. I took my shirt off and was pleased to see Chris' eyes rake up and down my body, taking it in. "Sun's out, guns out, eh? You're looking fit!"
I smiled at the compliment and thanked him. I'd taken advantage of the company gym a fair amount over the past year, and for the first time ever I felt like my body could be described by more adjectives than just 'lanky'. I gave a small, joking flex, quietly proud of my beach body and was surprised when Chris reached out and gave my bicep a squeeze. "Looking good," he repeated.
We caught up for a while, taking advantage of being in charge of guarding the beer coolers, Chris eating seemingly almost constantly. While I'd thought back again and again to last year, I'd forgotten just how easy Chris was to talk to, and how much I enjoyed his company.
A few beers in, my courage picked up. "Boyfriend not here again?" I asked bluntly.
He looked confused. "Boyfriend? What do you- oh, John? God, you've got a good memory. No, he cheated on me, I found out around Christmas-ish."
"Oh god, I'm sorry. What an arsehole." I clapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, fuck him, y'know."
He laughed at this. "Fuck him! Funnily enough, that's what my mate Sarah did." He laughed again, clearly unbothered.
"Hey! Bisexual affair though! Very modern, very progressive," I joked
He nodded, still laughing, and I watched intently as his paunch shook. "That is a big comfort to me, that at least he cheated on me in a diverse way." His smile grew lopsided as he looked at me, and he shuffled a touch closer to me. "And you? Got a boyfriend on the scene?" He'd lowered his voice now.
"Umm, nope. No. No boyfriend. Some tinder dates, you know but umm," I looked down at his lips. "Single. You know. Available. For stuff."
He nodded and looked around at what everyone else was doing. "The dunes are lovely. To walk around. And stuff. If you wanted to-"
"I want to. Yep. Absolutely. Lovely dunes." I nodded furiously, the sudden movement making me feel more drunk. "The ecosystems and the, uh, crescent shapes."
"Fucking love an ecosystem," Chris said, standing up while he fished out another couple of beers to take with us and quickly grabbed one last hot dog to take with him.
We ran up the closest dune, laughing, and practically fell down the other side. Chris grabbed my hand and led me a bit further on, before pulling me towards him and kissing me, having to reach up slightly to account for the several inches of height difference between us. I melted into him, my shoulders immediately releasing tension I didn't know I was holding, and I ran my fingers through his hair.
The combination of beers, sun and arousal made us act like schoolboys having their first kiss. We stumbled again and again as we continued to walk through the dunes, not paying enough to where we were going, our hands grabbing at each other's bodies the whole way, and giggling breathlessly.
Chris' hand moved down to my swim shorts, and he pulled away slightly, his tongue briefly coming out to wet his lips as his hand rested on my straining cock. "Enjoying yourself I see?"
"Very much so," I replied, pulling him closer to kiss him again. My own hand moved down to his own crotch and I cupped his bulge through his speedos, running my fingers along his length before grasping his hard cock through the lycra. He exhaled shakily and I felt his body tense slightly as I stroked him, grabbing at the fat at his sides as I did so, kissing him deeply the entire time.
Chris stepped back and pulled me down onto the steep sand with him, grabbing my own cock beneath my shorts and began pumping his hand slowly. I pushed him back and pulled down his speedos and my shorts around our thighs. I sat up and straddled him before I grabbed both our cocks in one hand, my long fingers struggling around them both, and began stroking us off together. Chris gave a breathless laugh and laid back, his eyes rolling up into his head in pleasure. I kept my eyes open, watching the shaking of his beef with each small twitch of his body. Chris began to gently girate his hips and I sped my hand up, the fingers of my other hand probing into his flesh, the fat pooling up around them. I heard Chris' breath catch and I relaxed my body, letting my own climax come, so that we both sprayed thick jets of cum up his body at the same time.
I rolled off him and lay next to him, both of us catching our breath. He shifted his weight, rolling over slightly to kiss me. "That", he whispered, "was really fucking hot."
I laughed and nodded. "You know, I really feel like we haven't explored these dunes very much yet."
He took on a faux serious expression and nodded. "I personally don't feel I've seen enough of the unique flora and fauna endemic to Welsh dune ecosystems." He stood up, struggling to pull his too tight swimsuit back up his thighs, and I followed suit, my own swimsuit coming up easily. "There's a sort of cove-y inlet-y thing, that way," he said, pointing, "that's pretty secluded. We could clean ourselves up and explore a little more." He spread his arms out and motioned down at his sticky torso before wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"Sounds perfect," I agreed, taking his hand.
A couple of hours later, we stumbled back onto the beach, Chris making a beeline for the barbecue. Thankfully, someone had taken over his duties so there was plenty of food for him to grab. My friend Paul sauntered over and raised an eyebrow suggestively. "You look like you've had a good time."
"We just went for a walk. It's very beautiful around here," I protested.
"Very beautiful," Paul nodded, his voice thick with sarcasm. "I wouldn't have had you down as a chubby chaser."
"What? I'm not a chub- nothing happened! And he's not chubby! That's very rude. And nothing happened anyway!" I could hear my voice go up too high as I blatantly lied.
"No, no, absolutely, I believe you," Paul said. "Your shorts are on backwards by the way."
I felt my face go even redder, if that was possible. I was saved from my embarrassment by Chris returning with a beer for me, and we moved towards the sea for a swim.
"Listen, I know you'll be going back to Edinburgh, but if you're around this week for a drink or something…" I suggested, once we were in the cold water.
The smile on Chris' face completely faded for the first time since I'd met him, not even a joking undertone left. "I'm going back tomorrow morning. 6 am flight."
I forced a smile. "Yeah, of course! That's fine, of course. You'd have wanted to spend time with your family anyway."
"No, no, I'd love to, I would. I really would." Chris looked genuinely sorry. "It just didn't work out. I'm sorry."
Later on, I sat in the back of Natasha's car, exhausted from a mixture of alcohol, food, sun and sex. Natasha was explaining to Annie in the front seat about how she'd actually had so much more fun while not drinking, and she was so embarrassed for all of us, convincing no-one, when Paul leaned over from the other side of the back seat.
"He seemed nice", he offered.
"Yeah, nice," I replied distantly.
"You guys going to see each other again?" he asked.
I shook my head. "He lives in Edinburgh."
"Shit, I'm sorry. Will he be there next year do you reckon?"
I gave a small smile. "Yeah, next year maybe."
Chapter 3
I got to the beach first, the usual work group trailing behind me. I was desperately trying to seem cool and calm, but I knew I was failing miserably. I looked around for Chris but couldn't see him anywhere.
"Jackie! Hey! Happy Birthday! Thirty! The big one!" I ignored her angry reply about how she didn't want to be thirty yet. "Yep. Uh-huh. Absolutely. Got to hate the linear flow of time. Anyway, Chris not here yet? He usually comes to this, right? Can't miss the big day!"
"Oh, do you two know each other? Yeah, he's going to be late, he was visiting our grandma so he's coming all the way from St Davids," she said the name of it like a joke, and I duly laughed, never quite getting the hang of Jackie. Me and Chris had texted a few times in the past year, but I'd been too nervous to ask him directly about coming to his sister's birthday, so I was relieved to hear he was coming.
An hour and a half and a few beers later, I heard a wolf-whistle behind me. "You've joined the speedo club I see!" I turned around to see Chris approaching me, fat jiggling with each heavy footstep. I'd been inspired by his confidence and my own improving physique to opt for something skimpier this time, and was happy to see that he hadn't worn anything less revealing.
It was clear that last year's weight gain wasn't a one-off. While before, he might be able to get away with being charitably called stout or burly, he was downright fat now. His gut was now a heavy, near-perfect sphere, bulging out to the sides and slightly sagging down in front of him, with genuine tits, round, plump sacks of flesh that sat on top of his belly. His always present smile now pushed two chubby cheeks out like a hamster, and he'd regrown his beard, much thicker than before, in a clear and futile attempt to cover a rounding jawline.
I matched his beaming smile and walked towards him, grabbing a beer and a burger on the way for him. I handed them over and slapped a hand onto his gut, emboldened by the few drinks I'd had while waiting. "You've got some new speedos yourself I see," I said quietly.
He twisted and pulled his gut out of the way to look, before looking back at me. "Ah, yeah, the other ones," he looked away sheepishly, "don't really fit anymore."
I bit my lip. "I'm sure they don't," I said jokingly. He smiled nervously back at me.
"Listen, I'm going to have a swim, grab some food. I'll talk to you later, alright." I watched him walk away, deflated. Did he regret last year? Or maybe something had happened, to make him so frosty? A new boyfriend maybe?
I sat and drank on a large rock, until he walked over to me and sat down next to me. Despite my nervousness, I thrilled at the thick fat on his sides brushing against my arm.
"I've been thinking about you, this year," he said finally. I looked over, heart rising.
"Me too," I replied with a smile.
His face broke into its usual grin. "Good. Good. I was a bit nervous, since you didn't text or anything. I wasn't really sure if you'd come."
"I thought the same, honestly," I confessed.
"And then," he continued, "I arrived and saw you looking really fucking good," he reached over and squeezed my strong thigh, "and I thought maybe I'd gotten too fat for you." His face had become bright red as he said this.
I laughed at him. "I like it. Really. It works for you. You carry it really well." I reached out and squeezed his own thick thigh, the fat feeling like butter beneath the skin.
"So you're into fat guys, hey?" He was still smiling, but looked a little embarrassed.
I shook my head. "Not really. I'm into you though."
His smile grew even wider. "I'm into you too." He reached out and held my hand. "I tried to diet for a bit," he confessed after a while.
"I can't imagine you dieting. You're way too confident. Like, you don't care what people think. It's sexy," I told him
"Well it turns out I'm not very good at it. I didn't actually lose any weight. But, y'know, I had the thought. Downloaded an app and everything."
"What was the app?" I asked, quietly laughing.
He shrugged. "It counted calories, told me when I was being a fat arse. Turns out I was probably supposed to do something with that information."
"Probably," I agreed.
Eventually, I realised his cheeks weren't getting any less red. "You're burning," I said, jumping up, "I'll go get some sun cream."
"I'm fine! I'm fine, really, I don't burn" he grabbed my hand to pull me back down but I pulled away.
"You're bright red. I'll get you some food and beer while I grab it," I promised. He relented, pleased that eating and drinking would now be involved.
I came back with my hands full, and passed everything over. I sat behind him and squirted some sun cream onto his back while he ate, and started rubbing it in wide circles. I relished the feel of his soft fat under my fingers, sliding my fingers deep into the crevices and folds of his body, and grabbing thick slabs of beef, all in the name of his skin health. I repeated the process on his front, exploring his soft tits, and hefting his gut up towards his face before letting it go and watching the ripples move through his body. I lingered for far longer than was necessary, tangling my fingers into the hair that covered his body, down from his shoulders, spreading across his torso and arms.
A while later, we both lay sunbathing on the sand, Chris barely moving, while I'd periodically jump up to grab him a snack. I handed him a burger and he propped himself up on his elbows and looked at me. "Listen, I'm not going home for another few days, and I've got a room at the village pub. Did you want to come for dinner? Maybe stay the night?"
"Dinner? You've been eating all day!" I responded.
"I've been snacking all day, I'll need a proper meal," he explained. I could see why he'd put on so much weight.
"That sounds good though, yeah. We need to make sure you don't waste away."
We fell into bed that night, Chris' stomach stretched tight and even rounder than earlier. I pulled off his too small t-shirt, unaccustomed to seeing him in clothes at all. I watched him for a minute or two try to take his shorts off, the button pulled tight by his heavy gut above. I took pity on him and made him suck his gut in, which he managed to, with difficulty, just enough for me to free the button and pull down the zipper, to reveal his aching cock straining against his speedos, still on from earlier.
"There's some condoms and lube in my suitcase," he told me.
"Someone was confident!" I said, but fetched them nonetheless.
He struggled to sit up, his full gut getting in the way, so I pushed him back down. "Don't you worry big guy, I'll do all the work." I sat next to him on the bed and helped him rub his gut, filled with a day's worth of barbecue and beer, and topped off with a heavy dinner, including dessert. He groaned, and I kissed him deeply. I pulled off his speedos, and his dick sprung up, slapping against his distended belly, smearing it with a spot of pre-cum.
We spent the night fucking, being as gentle as possible with Chris' overfull stomach. We spent the next day together as well, lounging on the beach, and I called in sick to work on Monday so we could spend one last day together. As I got out of Chris' car outside my house, he got out and kissed me, making me promise to stay in touch.
Chapter 4
I walked out onto the beach and made a beeline for Chris, pulling my shirt off as I approached him. He'd continued to gain weight, and his ball gut had expanded out, retaining its spherical shape but sagging down, with a deep cavernous belly button at its centre. Thick love handles sat either side of the giant gut, and above it his ample tits sat thick, beginning to droop ever so slightly towards his sides. His thighs were like tree trunks and were easily larger around than my waist, and between them I could just make out a bright flash of fabric, his speedos almost completely covered up from the front.
"They still make those in that size?" I teased him as I reached him.
"Well I don't think they don't make them too much bigger," he laughed.
"You've got your bags?" I asked.
He nodded. "In Jackie's car. You're not driving anyone back?"
"Nope, free to go as soon as we're done here." I grinned at him, excited about our planned week in Cornwall. "You can have a drink though, if you want, don't worry."
He shook his head. "I'm happy just spending some time with you."
I smiled at him and gave him a kiss. Some work friends looked over curiously, but I saw Paul and Natasha lean over to fill them in on all the gossip.
"We'll be the talk of your office will we?" Chris asked.
"Oh, hardly. It turns out Greg might actually be the father of Natasha's baby, so we'll barely be a blip on their radar."
"Oh my god!" Chris said. "I don't know who any of those people are!"
I laughed and led him over to the barbecue.
As we drove away that evening to my house, I looked over at Chris, as he snored faintly. He'd not had anything to drink, but he'd eaten so much over the course of the day that getting back over the sand dunes had been a genuine issue, and by the time we got back to the car park everyone except Jackie and her fiancé had long gone. Jackie passed over Chris' bags and I put them in the boot while Chris collapsed into the front seat, the car dipping dramatically on that side.
That night lacked the urgency of the other times we'd met, not driven by lust, but rather just enjoying each others' company. We watched a movie while I snuggled into his side, sinking into his soft fat like a pillow. The next morning I made a large breakfast before we set off on our holiday.
Chapter 5
I walked out of the sand dunes and was almost immediately accosted by old colleagues. "How's Edinburgh?" Paul asked.
"Great! Really, really great! The job's basically the same thing, computers, money, meetings, you know," I replied.
"And Chris? How's he?" Natasha asked.
"He's great too, we've settled really well into living together, it just all works."
"Is he coming or…?"
I turned around to look at the dunes. "He's just taken the scenic route, he'll be here in a bit." For the most part I'd gotten used to walking at Chris' slower pace, and kept with him for most of the walk, but had run ahead at the last couple of dunes. Sure enough, after a minute or two he appeared between the bases of two dunes.
He'd put on more weight while we were living together, but he'd slowed down a little recently. Still, he was clearly bigger than the last time we were here, one year ago. While the changes might not be so obvious to a lot of people, just a fat man getting fatter, I noticed them all. His stomach stuck out just that bit more, his sides that much wider, his legs that much softer.
He walked over to me (waddled might be more accurate, I pondered, especially on the soft sand), and gave me a peck on the cheek. We put our bags down a convenient distance to the food, and stripped down to our speedos, Chris' once again new to stretch across his added weight.
"Fancy a swim?" Chris asked me, already walking towards the water.
"Sounds good," I said, quickly catching up to him. "Maybe afterwards we can go for a walk through the dunes?" I raised my eyebrows suggestively.
"Oh fuck off!" Chris said. "I'm not going back through those, I'm knackered after that walk. You're just going to have to wank me off in front of everyone, if it comes to it."
I laughed and kissed him on the cheek, admiring the plush softness. "Well hopefully it won't come to that."
"Why not?" Chris asked, joking. "Do you not think I'm beach body ready?"

You decided to watch your friends practice since you didn’t have anything to do. It was quiet for a few minutes as she spoke up again, “So me and the girls are wondering do you wanna go to a party with us”. You thought for a few minutes and nodded “sure”. Jackie smiled at you and put her bottle down “it's randys ill send you the address””
3 hours later, after the party ( I’m lazy wtf ) you got home worrying if someone was following you, but surely no one wasn’t following you. “What a da-“ The phone Cut you off by rining..who was it? . Slowly going to the phone your hands shaking quickly answering. “Hello” your breath was shakey. The heavy breather from the other phone is as loud and fast, before the unknown caller spoke.
“What’s your favorite scary movie”
Standing in the kitchen looking around, “…who is thi-“ the unknow caller cut you off “ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION”. Shocked by the aggressive caller you obeyed.. “my favorite is friday the 13th….”
Hearing the unknown killer laugh, “good choice, that movie is like a game of cat and mouse..”, they hung up fast.. You are scared of what's about to happen, Hearing glass break in the living room so you decided to check it out only to find two people with ghostface mask and robs standing there tilting their heads.

As soon you made it to one of the rooms you felt another pair of hands on you push you down to the floor, a group of ghostfaces appear behind the main two.
“Look at this slut. Your enjoying this huh” one of them(nat) spoke as she got close to you, her knife pressing up to your thighs. “Such a slut” the one of the ghostface (Lottie) went up to nat who was looking down at you, you were weak whimpering, your hair being pulled back by a third ghostface (Jackie) who was rubbing your body “a group a killers just wanting to use you like a toy you want that right”
The fourth ghostface(Mari) was recording without saying a word, she was loving this already, you being a helpless victim to the girls plan they didn’t want to kill you,

Ghostface Natalie!!!
Angsty, cause I can't think of to much fluff rn:
1. She ends up stabbing R (reader) instead of the victim. And immediately crumbles grabbing onto them and falling to the floor sobbing she removes her mask begging for help from the others but their all to scared of her, as she panics trying to stop the bleeding. I don't like R death but just having Nat panic and feel bad is ❤️
2. Since people like sister Nat from you (with your beautiful writing!) Let me get this out of the way, she's like Sam Carpenter. Older, half sister. Her dad was a killer before her and she just lost it and started killing. But one night at a costume party, she's dragging some asshole of a dude away in the crowd of drunk teens with loud music. And just after she stabs him, right in front of everyone but no one seems to notice, the guy pulls her mask off, she looks up only to see her little sister caught her. (Gonna be an awkward discussion at home ngl 🏃) can also be like non sister, I just know people like her as such.
3. Natalie was staying in your room, she always had to sneak in through the window. She left her lover R, to go with her partner in crime (you pick) to "take care of something" anyway long story short she ends up stumbling and falling through your window on her way back, she was stabbed. Her mask in hand the only person she could think to seek refuge with was her girlfriend/partner/lover, but now you have to face the fact not only is she bleeding on perfectly good carpet, but she's killed people. Your friend's (mostly assholes let's be honest) but you don't want her to die.
Also could I ask for an emoji? To just sign with? I think I'm gonna end up sending a lot of things 😭 (if that's ok!) I love your writing!
A/N: OMG I WANNA WRITE EVERY SINGLE ONE (AND I WILL MAYBE 🤭), but I think I'm gonna start with your first idea!! Actually now that I think about it I might create a little section just for ghostface!au requests. And you can totally have an emoji!!! Just let me know what you picked! <3

MASTERLIST
Scream
Tumblr media
"Natalie!" You happily squealed as soon as you saw your girlfriend walking into the room.
You were at Jackie's house for a sleepover with the whole team and a couple of mutual friends.
Natalie smiled, dropping a heavy backpack on the floor and instantly opening her arms for you "Hi baby" she mumbled while kissing the top of your head. You and the girls planned a fun and quiet night, but what you didn't know was that you currently stood in the arms of the mysterious cold blood murder Ghostface, and you also didn't know that one of Jackie's friends, Matt had a reputation to be a bit of a fuck boy.
And Nat couldn't stand him.
So as soon as everybody arrived at the party, she started targeting him from far away, monitoring his moves.
"Nat! Nat! Stop! Don't tickle me!" You said in between laughs, the two of you were cuddling on the couch "Okay okay I'll stop babe, actually, I forgot to tell you I need to go home earlier" Natalie said with an apologetic look "My mom...I need to check on her" she knew that you were very empathetic of her family situation, and she also knew that if she pulled that card you would let her leave without further questions.
That leads us to this moment, Nat changing outside of the house, from her grungy clothes to black coat and mask in hand along with a sharp knife.
Sneaking back inside, she could hear all of you messing around in the living room, a movie playing combined with soft music.
Nat peeped from the almost closed door, you sat near Lottie and Matt "Pretty" she thought when you smiled at one of Van's jokes "focus nat".
The lights were dimmed and you were distracted, so it was easy for her to sneak in and hide behind the bookshelf.
That's when she decided to attack.
Revealing herself, all the people in the room started screaming and running as far as they could, the adrenaline pumped in Nat's veins, and then she stabbed.
But in the chaos she didn't realize who she stabbed.
At least not until she heard you scream, scream like you never screamed before, it wasn't fear, it was gut wrenching pain.
Your body fell on the floor, blood, lots of blood splashed everywhere and Natalie's eyes widened
"no no no" she mumbled in panic while getting closer causing you to scream more, at that she instantly took off her mask "No no no baby it's me, it's just me I didn't mean to... I...let me help please, please baby..."
At that you could believe your eyes, your beautiful, kind and loving girl was ghostface? Like THE ghostface, a murderer!?
And just like you, everyone in the room was shocked, so when Nat asked, or more like begged them to help her they all just stared at her paralyzed.
You were so weak and the blood wasn't stopping, she cradled you in her arms for a while, until you passed out, and she cried and cried terrified that she just lost you forever.
You woke up in a hospital bed, beeping of machines and the smell of sanitizer lingered in the air, your mind was blurry and the memories of the night scattered in your head, but you did remember one single thing clearly
Natalie was the ghostface.
And you didn't know where she was now, if she was arrested or if she ran away, either way, you stared at the white ceiling, thinking of everything that happened and everything that changed in the moment ghostface pointed her knife at you.

Not The Same Anymore |J.B
Warnings/A.N: Angstyyyy. Arguments. Cussing. Mentions of Alcohol. Small mention of sex. Not my best work but wanted to post something. Sorry for any errors 🖤 (maybeeeee I’ll make a part 2 of y’all want it)
Tumblr media
You were sitting in you car looking at the message from an unsaved number over and over again. You couldn't believe what it said and you thought it was a sick joke but no.
"Hey Y/N, this is Amanda, Joe's girlfriend. I've been thinking and I think it's best if you don't come to Joe's party tonight. I've seen the way you look at him and interact with him and frankly it's disrespectful to our relationship and me especially. I don't appreciate how close you two are and how flirty you are with him. So I think it's best if you didn't show. But if you decide to come, know we have security and they know not to let you in."
You felt humiliated, shocked, angry and hurt. You thought his girlfriend liked you. You and Joe have been really good friends since Ohio State and always ,he made an effort to include you in his life even after he made it big. You hadn't seen him in almost a year now due to his busy schedule though. You had been excited all week to go to the party he was throwing at his house, which he never did. You hadn't seen him in such a long time and you had just gotten in your car to drive over there when you had received that message.
After a moment of trying to comprehend what happened you decided to still go out anyways. The night was still young and you were dressed up. You didn't want this to ruin your night. Pissed off, you ended up at your bestfriends house. "Y/N?" Your best friend asks in confusion. "I thought you were going to Joe's Party?" She asks. You don't say anything but show her your phone. She reads the text and her jaw drops. "What the fuck? Oh, Y/N I'm so sorry. That's awful, what the hell is her problem?!" She says ushering me inside. "I feel like an idiot, I thought she was cool with me. Why would she do this? Especially the night of the party?" I ask. "Cause she's a total insecure bitch." Your best friend says making you laugh.
"C'mon, I'll get dressed and we can hit up some bars in downtown!" She says patting my back. "Yeah, I really need that." You nod giving her a small smile. You wait a little while for her to get ready. You sat on her couch debating on texting Joe some lame excuse about not being able to make it but honestly, he probably won't even care that you ended up not showing up. Your best friend finally finishes getting ready and you split an uber between the both of you to downtown.
We make our way to the first bar which wasn't too packed with people and we order our first drinks. "So, tell me how'd that date with what's his face go?" I ask my best friend. "It was good, we ended up going back to mine." She says blushing. " Oooo... was he good?" i wiggle my eyebrows. "I'm still sore..." she says and I squeal in excitement making her blush and laugh. "I'm so happy for you girl, he is super cute!" I say sipping my drink. "How about you? No one new?" she asks. "Nah. Works been so busy this is literally my first night out since we went out for Jackie's birthday! "I shake my head.
"Do you...still like...you know who?" she frowns. "I...don't know. I don't think I do, it's been so many years. He's obviously been dating other people & I think he sees me as a sister so it's not like that would ever work." I shake my head. "So that's a..yes that you still like him. Maybe, if that's the case then it's best that you didn't go to the party tonight after all, I know you're friendship with Joe means a lot to you but if you deep down have feelings for him, seeing him date anyone else is just going to ruin you for the rest of your life." She says. "Yeah, maybe so." I shrug taking another sip of my drink feeling embarrassed that you just basically admitted to still having a crush on someone from college.
The night goes on and we bar hop through the night. Meeting up a few people we know and around 12am at a crazy loud bar, you notice a few missed calls and text messages on your phone. By now you were feeling every ounce of liquor in your system. You open the text messages and see that they were from Joe.
Joey 🏈: Hey, you on your way? -10:12pm
Joey🏈: If you need the address again, let me know! -10:37pm
Joey🏈: Are you alright? still haven't heard from you...-11:24pm
Joey🏈: If you didn't want to come, could of just told me...not fucking cool to just ghost me like this -12:13am.
and in between those text messages were missed calls from him. You show your best friend the messages and she shakes her head. "Seems like she didn't tell him about uninviting you & is making you seem like the bad guy here. What royal bitch!" She shakes her head. "I don't even care anymore. I'm not dealing with this high school type of drama, we're not even as close as we used to be anymore for all this, he's probably just drunk and will forget about me in the morning." you shake your head putting your phone in your pocket and continuing your fun night out.
***********
The next morning you left your best friends house hung over as hell and made your way back to your apartment. You felt like absolute shit, but you had so much fun and appreciated her for going out with you to get your mind off things. Once you make it back home you take a much need shower and do your best to rehydrate yourself with a liquid IV. You definitely were not holding up like you used to after a night out and needed to nurse those hangover for the rest of the day.
As you popped a few aspirins in the kitchen, there was a loud knock on your door. You sigh and drag your feet over to the front door before opening it thinking it was annoying neighbor again asking you to walk more softly but you completely froze when you saw who it was. "Uh, hey..wh-what are you doing here?"You ask awkwardly as you look at the tall blonde in front of you. He also looked like he had quite the night last night.
"Can we talk?" Joe says obviously upset. "Sure." you say letting him in. You were nervous for what was about to come and also wondered how in the hell did he remember your address when you only gave it to him one time because he wanted to send you Bengals merch when he got drafted a few years back.
"Did I do something to you?" he asks as you shut the door. "What? No, why would you think that?" You ask. "Well, for starters you completely left me hanging last night. Then you ignored my calls AND left me on read. What the hell is your deal?" He asks crossing his arms and looking at you. "Nothing is my deal Joe, I just got caught up." You sigh giving him that lame excuse that you knew better than to give him. "Don't give me that bull shit Y/N, I saw your instagram story, you were at a bar! Multiple! Given what I saw!" He scoffs. "Why do you even care if i make it to your party or not? i'm sure the 100 other people there and your girlfriend were enough! You're a celebrity now remember? I'm just some girl you met in college that you barely speak to anymore." You snap back.
"Because you're one of my best friends! You're not some girl I met in college?! So, I expected to be something of a priority to you like you are to me!" He says and you sigh shaking your head. "Joe, I'm sorry I didn't go to your party last night, but aren't you blowing this a little out of proportion? We definitely don't prioritize each other, not since the day you left Ohio state...We barely see each other anymore, I mean last year we both forgot to text one another for each others birthdays...it's just not the same anymore and you know it." you sigh pushing your hair back and he shakes his head looking up at your ceiling clearly trying to keep his cool.
"I just don't understand why you would tell me twice during the week that you were going and then ignore me, to then find out you were bar hopping instead? I don't care how much has changed between us. It's fucked up! and it's something I'd never do you! When I say I'm going to do something, I mean it and I do it." He says sounding hurt which absolutely destroyed you inside. The last thing you wanted was to hurt him but you were getting very upset at being the bad guy.
Without saying anything you went and grabbed your phone. You opened Amanda's text handing him your phone and a look of confusion played upon his face. He reads the message and his face completely falls. "Y/N... I- I had no idea she sent you this message. I- "It's fine Joe, I get it. If I'm making her feel uncomfortable than I just need to step back and leave you alone." You shrug. "No, you don't! This isn't okay. She lied to me and crossed the line. I'm sorry Y/N... I truly didn't know and shouldn't came over here like this." Joe shakes his head looking back at the message. He was becoming enraged which didn't happen often, he was always so stoic & mellow. Even when they lost the super bowl and the AFC he barely showed any emotion on that.
"Maybe she's right you know, maybe I have crossed boundaries and should take a step back." you shrug and his head snaps up at you. "What are you saying?" he asks and you take a deep breath. "Maybe I am too flirty or too close with you and we should just be friends from a far or...not at all. I don't know...but I do know you really like Amanda and she comes first ya know? It's normal, it's what happens when you get in a serious relationship, things change with friendships around." You say holding in tears. "Y/N... C'mon don't do this over some stupid misunderstanding, we've gotten through much worse than this." Joe says swallowing hard.
"Have we? Cause I don't ever remember feeling like this when it comes to you. This is the first time you've ever been upset at me. It'll be better this way Joey & you know that was no misunderstanding. I'll still be watching every game & supporting every thing that you do. That you can always count on." I say hiding my sadness with a laugh.
"So that's it? Our friendship is just tossed in the trash because Amanda apparently says so?" He fake laughs. "Joe, our lives at a point where they're just different. It happens!! I mean look at you and Seth! You two were also inseparable in college and now look? He's married with kids and living in New York. When was the last time you heard from him? I think... I think our time is just up and you need to focus on your career and your relationship." You say letting a tear stream down your face.
"This is some bullshit you know, you were supposed to be there when I win the Super Bowl, when I finally get married and I finally had kids. Like you were there for me with the transfer to LSU, the NCAA win, The draft, my injury & making to the Super Bowl... shit you even helped me unpack when I bought my house out here and you're telling me that this is just what happens between friends because of life? Do you not remember, I'm also the guy that would look after you in college & make sure you'd make it back to your dorm after getting trashed at all these stupid parties your friends that I'm sure you don't even talk to either would drag you to? I was the one that would drive you to your parents every time you felt homesick, the one that would help you out with papers and studying?...that means nothing huh? Over a fucking bull shit text!?" He scoffs.
"Joe- No save it Y/N. You clearly made a choice here before I even walked through that door and without even talking to me about it. Have a nice life, Y/N." He says handing your phone back to you and storming out of the house slamming the door behind him without even taking one last glance to you. You couldn't help but let out a small sob and let the tears finally flow. This hurt way more than you could ever imagine. Letting your best friend and the only guy you've ever loved slip through you're fingers forever.

✶ JAX TELLER in love with a guy.
──────────────────────────────
pairing: jax teller + male reader.
warnings: vague internalized homophobia, canon typical violence, vague canon typical homophobia, vague weed talk.
jax didn't think he'd be the type of guy to — like other guys. it’s not like girls didn’t cut it for him before, that was all well and dandy, but he lately found himself staring at the way the leather from your cut shaped around your shoulders a little too long, or how the veins in your arms would pop when you drew your gun. fuck.
and at first, everything was pretty easy to ignore, even if he stared too much and went out of his way to keep his distance — he could pretend it was nothing, jax had a knack for keeping his hands busy on useless flings, and now they proved a better escape. it was a particularly vivid dream and a few stoned deliriums when he hung around the weed shop with juice that told him this wasn’t going away anytime now.
he then thought of everything that was potentially wrong about it, when he didn't have his hands on a trigger, his bike's handle, or someone else, he was overthinking. starting with the fact that no one had to know; and if they did, the club would have to make an exception for him, to any and all rules he would be breaking along the way. jax didn't keep tabs on every archaic rule of the original motor clubs, but he figured having an old man as an old man would be a pretty big hole to patch over
chibs was the first to know. jax couldn't bring himself to tell opie about it, he didn't know how to feel about it himself, he didn't want to see opie not knowing too. and chibs noticed everything, down to how jax's jaw would tense at any and all comment that he would have found funny before, how he'd leave the bar too quick, and not hang around the crow-eaters as much as he used to, almost as if he, out of all people, couldn't keep his hands fixed to known, soft curves. not when he closed his eyes and all he saw were sharp edges and rough knuckles.
the talk they’d secretely had about it had been awkward and, oddly comfortingly, filled with curses. their backs to the wall and a cig between their fingers. it went something like: “so, the new patch.” “... yeah.” and after a moment of silence and a tightly stiff hug, chibs breathed out, “yer’ an idiot, jackie boy.”
when it blew up for the both of you, it happened in between dirt and beer, blinded by street lights. it had been a stupid brawl; a show to put on during a party of the mc, that grew too personal — especially when his breath hitched when you took off your shirt to go up against him in the makeshift rink. and maybe, he didn't know how to deal with being irrevocably smitten with someone so eager to punch his teeth out.
frustration and confusion about his feelings quickly soured into panting anger and balled up fists. he also remembers flashes of flushes and heat waves striking his skin where pavement sanded his back, it felt kind to be punched as long as it was you.
not that he'd ever admit that.
even when he found you later in the bathroom, bleeding by his doing and running water over your knuckles, your wraps dropping off the sink, he came to you like a storm, frowning and seething, kissing the blood off your lips, hard enough he might've broke something else, he pulled away just as so, daring you, everything a challenge with him.
that too faded away; into yearning and sickeningly sticky grudges that tasted too much like honey, you two didn' talk about the pushing towards greedy encounters in grimy bathrooms, not for a long while. his bike to yours even when he missed having you in his hands, he knew if it was known and went south, both of you'd get shunned and blacked out, and even if the club looked past it, the other charters just wouldn't have it. so bathrooms it was.
he'd call you his boyfriend not only in the dark and smell a whiff of gunpowder and call that home, if he could.
he wants to, just not now. and it hurts, and the knife twists, because they don't teach you what to do when everyone looks out for their old ladies, but you have to watch bullets grazing the man you love everyday, having to shoot too.
only when you strapped a bulletproof vest alongside your chest, cocked your gun and prepped yourself for a meeting made to go awry, only then he felt the very palpable fear of losing someone he didn't have the chance to claim as his.
everyone's family locked tight and safe in the clubhouse. and before anyone took off on their bikes, jax kissed you briefly, yet it felt like a shot in on itself, his hands on each side of your face, holding you like water. “see you later.” his voice a lot like an order, even when his thumb ran alongside your jaw, not even trying to be soft, he didn't know how with you. before you had a chance to react and do something other than lick your lips, jax was already hopping on his bike before anyone else could, racing off, with all of the member's eyes on him, and you.
well, that would be a conversation to be had when they all came back.

WAIT what if aus is peanut’s biological dad and mat is her stepdad. Since mom and aus aren’t end game maybe she falls in love with barzy. This way we can have them both and Jack can be salty twice
THIS IS THE MIXED STORYLINE THAT I WANTED TO DO!! sorry for holding off on answering this for so long, but you literally got the story down so simply and perfectly that this is how i wanted to do the reveal!
aus and mama met when they were 19, began dating when they were 22 and had peanut when they were 23, turning 24 later that year. mama breaks up with auston while preg bcz she can't be all alone in toronto, and aus lets her go bcz he won't force her to stay. they have a few rough patches, but coparent pretty well. (they do hookup when peanut's around 2/3 - will post more on this in the coming weeks) but in the morning, aus is scared and shuts mama out. this causes heartbreak on both sides, but it's like the final end to their relationship. they're rough for a few months, but they go back to coparenting and slowly, the distance heals. this time, they know there's no going back to being lovers, so they settle with being p's parents together.
when p's about 3/4ish, mama goes to a bar with her friends, and sees mat. the two get to talking (mama's a talkative drunk) and mat drops mama off at jack and luke's place at the end of the night (jack's like oh no). he tells mama mat's no good bcz he's got the party guy side to him and mama's like jackie honey, thanks for the dating advice, but i don't need it, i'm done with love, that shit's overrated (hah!). a/n, her and mat end up talking more, going on a few dates and stuff and mat meets peanut, and he's a little scared at first and peanut's like "who's this guy" but the night ends with mat singing the frozen soundtrack with peanut, so they're all good!
there's some on ice tension with aus-mat-jack, but mama forces them to stop after one too many fights. it's there, but it's less. (and yes, jack gets super salty when aus and mama break up and when mat and mama start dating)
but there will be a few chaps on mama's backstory out, starting tmrw! you guys can send in requests on any concepts based off of this new information!
be sure to join my peanut's world! au taglist to get notified!

The Story of Us
Pairing: Steve Harrington x female!Reader
Pronouns: She/Her
POV: First person
Fandom: Stranger Things
Warnings: Foul language, mentions of Steve and Nancy doing the deed, mentions of blood, mentions of puke, mentions of alcohol and drugs
Summary: The explanation of how Steve Harrington and Y/N ended up being a couple
Tumblr media
It was 6th grade when I had first met Steve Harrington.
I was sitting at a table alone at lunch. I had just moved to Hawkins from Gary, and I had known nobody. Throughout the entire day, I didn't talk or even share a glance at anyone.
I felt like a total outcast. Hell, I was an outcast. But that's until a boy, around 5'2 had walked over casually and sat at my lunch table. His thick brown hair bouncing from how he had plopped down in the seat across from me. He had a smile on his face. I looked up at him slowly.
"The names Harrington," He paused for a moment, putting out his hand for me to shake. "Steve Harrington."
And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the start of a very, very long friendship ahead of us. And after that, we would begin to form a relationship. But let's not skip ahead of ourselves here. Let me share the story of how Steve and I began to fall in love with each other.
The summer of 1983. Our Junior year. Steve and I invited Carol, Tommy, Barbara, and Nancy; Steve's girlfriend at the time, to a party at his house. Nancy brought it amongst herself to invite her friend Barbara, who lets say, did not have a fun time at all.
We drank, swam, ate, had the time of our lives! Steve and I mocked Carol and Tommy's relationship! Tommy fought back by saying, "Oh yeah? And what about you two? You guys have been best friends for 5 years! There's no way the both of you haven't hooked up!"
As always, because we had been asked this question a million times before, Steve answered, "We're just friends." I answered, "Oh give it up Tommy! Steve has a girlfriend now! Cut it off with the jokes! And besides, what about that Jackie girl? Weren't you fucking around with her only a few days ago?" This caused Carol to give him an upset look and it didn't stop Nancy from giving me one of those looks. One of those looks that read, 'I'm done with the dating jokes between you two. He's mine.'
At the time, I would have gladly let her have him. He was my best friend! Have all the fun in the world that you desire with him! However, break his heart and you'd feel my wrath. But after a while, the thoughts of Nancy Wheeler would slowly fade from Steve's mind, only to be replaced with another girl. But again, we're getting ahead of ourselves.
After a while of splashing and messing around in the pool, we had all gotten out and decided to dry off in Steve's house. Well...not all of us. I had stayed next to Steve's pool, picking up some trash and the mess that they had all left behind. Only a moment later, Barbara came back out. I had been picking up a crushed beer can, and I had looked up to see her. The blood from when she cut her hand still dropping onto the floor. She sat on the edge of the pool.
"Just so you know, whatever Carol and Tommy said in the house that brought you back out here, it doesn't matter. Their opinions and thoughts don't matter at all. Tommy has a micro penis of a brain, and Carol's hair roots drag so deeply into her head that she only knows how to speak dumb. Stupidity is their nature. I guess that's why they’re perfect for each other." This caused Barbara to laugh. It was a sad laugh, though. We were quiet for a moment until she spoke.
"No. It's nothing they said. It's just that.. ever since Nancy began dating Steve, she's been different. She's acting different; Dressing different. Treating me different! She literally just told me to go home. Nancy's been my best friend for years and within a snap of a finger she changes because her boyfriend wants her to." Barbara stopped talking. She took a deep sigh. Her head hung low and her blood continuously dripping into the water. I bit my lip and walked over, sitting down next to her.
"I don't think that Steve wants her to change. If I'm going to be honest, Steve isn't as bad as people make him out to be. Yeah, he has his asshole moments, but he's not a terrible human being. If anything, he doesn't want Nancy to change at all. He started liking her because of who she was, not because of who he wants her to be. I think now that she's dating Steve, she wants to match up with their energy. She's changing because she feels like she needs to." I looked at Barb as I spoke. It took her a while, but she looked up at me.
"Why does she feel like she needs to change? She's been one way all her life. Why change now?" I just shrugged.
"I'm sorry but I don't know," I put a hand on her shoulder. "Maybe that's something you should talk to Nancy about. I don't know her that well and I don't think she likes me very much, but if I do know something about her character, it's that she's a good person. She has a good heart and so do you." I winked at Barb before I stood up, dusting myself off.
"Now. I'm going to run inside and grab some antiseptic cream and a wraparound band-aid. Stay right there and I'll be back in a moment." I walked to Steve's back door and slid it open, walking in, and closing it behind me. I rushed up the stairs and walked into the bathroom, opening the closet. I reached for the first aid kit on the top shelf, opened it, and grabbed the band aid, some tape, and the antiseptic cream.
As I was exiting the bathroom, I began walking down the hallway, when I heard light groaning from Steve's bedroom. I cringed and hurried downstairs, humming "Break My Stride" to forget the torturous sounds I had heard. I walked to the back door and slid it open. I stepped out.
"I'm back with the stuff Barb. Your hand is going to be back in good shape in no ti-" I closed the door behind me and turned around. Barb was no longer there. I walked a little closer to the pool. "Barb? Barb are you there?" I looked around the scenery. The pool was still. Nothing seemed touched or out of order then it was when I had left. The deck was a little wetter than it had been before, but that was it. I pursed my lips and furrowed my eyebrows. "I..Barb I told you not to move."
And that's the entire reason why Steve and I grew closer. it's really sad to think that Barb's death was the reason that Steve and I would fall in love with each other, but it's true.
A bunch of dominoes fell after that. Nancy began hanging out with Jonathan Byers. She and Steve dated for another year or so before Steve broke up with her after Nancy told him that their relationship was bullshit. Hell, I was the one who sat here and talked through it with Steve. Let me tell you how that went!
Steve had speed walked out of the bathroom. I was talking to the new kid, Billy Hargrove, who had been lightly flirting with me. It stopped after Steve had whizzed right past me. I excused myself and followed after him.
"Steve! Steve!" It wasn't until we had been outside and close to his car was when I had enough of him ignoring me and I ran in front of him, stopping him. "Steve what happened in there? Where is Nancy?" I asked, looking at him right in the eyes. He huffed for a few seconds before he spoke.
"Nancy 'Little Miss Perfect' Wheeler isn't coming or even riding back home with me. She can stay behind and wait for her boyfriend Jonathan to waste his gas on her and drive her home." Steve began to walk past me again but I grabbed his arm. He stopped again.
"I'm going with you, right? I have no other way home." I told him. He whipped around, glaring daggers at me.
"You have no other way home, huh? What about the new King, Billy Hargrove? What about him? I'm sure he'd LOVE to take you home. I'm sure he'd also love to get a nice blowjob from you!" He yelled. I was taken aback, but I kept my head high.
"I don't know what Nancy said in there to you. I don't know what's gotten you so pissed off besides the fact that you spilled a drink all over her, but don't you ever take it out on me. This has nothing to do with me at all," I was stepping closer to him, pointing a finger at his face. "So, take a fucking breath and calm down before I make you. Billy and I talking at a high school party has nothing to do with your relationship problems." I told him. He looked me in the eyes. I could see his eyes become waterier. He faced away from me.
"Just get in the car. I'll explain it when we get to my house..." He mumbled.
The car ride there had been quiet. The radio was off, Steve and I weren't talking. The only sound heard was the engine of the car running. And then the keys jingling when Steve had parked the car in his driveway and turned off the ignition.
He had opened his door and gotten out. I proceeded to follow. He opened the gate to his backyard, and we walked in there together. He sat by the edge of the pool, not caring whether or not his shoes got wet. It was also the same place Barb had sat right before she died.
I was scared that if I looked away from Steve, he would disappear like she did, and I'd lose him forever. Just like Nancy had lost Barb forever. I didn't take my eyes off of him as I sat next to him by the pool, taking my heels off and dipping my feet into the water.
We were both quiet. Steve looked at the water, while I looked at him. All of this seeming so familiar.
"I'm sorry Y/N..." He said out of nowhere. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"I'm sorry. For the way I treated you back there. I was just...I was so pissed. Nancy told me she didn't love me and that our relationship was bullshit. She talked about Barb's death and how it was our fault. I just... I saw you talking to Billy. You looked happy. I guess I walked past you because I wanted you to notice how upset I was. Well, you did and then I went off on you because you did exactly what I wanted you to do. I shouldn't have done that." He looked over to me and into my eyes. I stared right back at him.
"I understand. What Nancy said to you was heartbreaking. But you also have to realize that she was really, really drunk. People say stupid things when they're drunk. Things that they sometimes don't mean. Remember that one time that you got completely wasted and when I dropped you off at home you wouldn't stop rambling about how you loved me and that you wanted to be with me? How the only reason you started talking to me in the middle school was because you had the biggest crush on me and that you had always loved me? Yeah, people say stupid things." Steve raised his eyebrows for a moment before lowering them. He opened his mouth to say something, but he just shrugged.
"Yeah, but what Nancy was saying seemed so real. She's been acting weird and different for months. Sometimes when you're drunk, the truth spills out because the common sense isn't clicking. The decision making between wrong and right isn't communicating with the rest." Steve explained. I stared at him wide eyed.
"What?" He asked. He raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing. It's just that...when you had joined that AP Psych class with me, you couldn't tell the different between the frontal lobe and the aorta of the heart. But here you are explaining how alcohol makes you lose connections of the brain. That's crazy, Harrington." I jokingly said. He chuckled. For what felt like the 300th time today, it was quiet.
"Yeah. I guess I've drank enough alcohol to just know from experience of how it messes with things." He said, looking back to the pool. I nodded, biting my lip. I hadn't realized I had glanced down from Steve, and I looked back up at him. It was as if it were my first time seeing him again in a new light. I didn't know what kind of light it was, though.
"So, when you told me you loved me a few months ago...was that true?" I asked. He looked at the pool before dragging his head to look at me.
"I uh...Ya know, like you said. You sometimes say crazy things when you're drunk." He joked. I laughed, causing him to laugh. He stopped laughing early, just looking at me. A smile playing at his lips.
I stopped laughing as well. looking at him again. For a moment, it felt like it was just us.
That was the first time that the connection between us blossomed into something different. Something new.
"Thanks for caring so much, Y/N." He mumbled.
"I'll be here anytime you need me, Steve." I replied.
As I've mentioned before, that was when something began to blossom between us. Although, it wasn't until Steve began working at Starcourt Mall was when the growing blossom finally bloomed.
Steve, Robin, and I had been captured and drugged by the Russians. Dustin and Erica had busted us out of the underground base and had brought us back into the normal floor of the mall. Instead of getting us out of the building, they brought us into the theater to watch some movie about flying cars and time travel. I was drugged. I don't remember it.
Dustin told us to stay put. Knowing Steve, Robin, and I...we most definitely did not stay put. We left almost immediately and ran to the fountain, enjoying the cold, crisp water. high off of our asses. After that we began to feel sick. We ran to the bathroom and I almost couldn't make it to the toilet to puke. I was in the really big stall. Steve was in the one next to me and Robin was in the one next to him.
I'll give you, my dear reader, the details.
We had finished puking first and it was just us sitting in the quiet. I had my head against the wall of the stall, my heart pounding and my throat hurting.
"Have you guys...ever been in love?" Robin asked. I sighed. Everyone knew what Steve was about to say. It was coming from a million miles away.
"Yeah. Nancy Wheeler," BINGO! I was right! But then again, when am I never right? Steve continued. "First semester senior year." I nodded against the stall.
"Knew that was coming." I spoke. Steve scoffed. Robin chuckled.
"Oh my god. She's such a priss." Robin complained.
"Myeh. Turns out not really." Steve announced to us. I leaned my head to where Steve was.
"Are you still in love with Nancy?" Robin asked. This question caught my attention. My heart felt heavy. It's as if I was expecting him to say yes. That yes never came.
"No." Steve answered. My heart relaxed. I didn't know that I was tense until I took a breath.
"Why not?" Robin asked. I straightened out my legs. I was interested in how Steve would answer this. He was quiet for a second before he began to talk.
"I guess it's because I found someone better for me. Heh it's crazy. Ever since I met Dustin he's been saying, "I know you like her. The feeling is somewhere within you. Somewhere you locked away because you were scared of rejection. I see how you guys look at each other and you can't just be friends. You found your Suzie." I stood still. The world seemed like it had stopped spinning. I couldn't move.
"Wait, who's Suzie?" Robin asked in a drunken tone.
"Some girl from camp. I guess his girlfriend." Steve breathed out. "To be honest with you I'm not 100% sure she's even real." Steve paused a moment. "But that's...that's not the point, it doesn't matter. The point is that this girl, ya know the one that I like.. It's somebody that I have known for what seems like forever. I picked her up everyday. I talk to her everyday. She's basically my best friend." I sat up straighter against the wall. My heart beating with every word he said. My brain thoughtless.
"And I don't even know why I never made a move on her. Maybe because Tommy H would have teased me, or we'd get a lot of "I told you so's." Steve began to face my side of the stall. "It's stupid...I mean. Dustin was right from the beginning. He saw right through me. I've been in love with this girl from the day I introduced myself. I found out that she was caring. She is so caring. She cared for me throughout all my stupid shit. I have never felt anything like this. She's so smart. She dragged me into 2 AP classes with her in Junior year. And she's loving. She's so loving and nurturing towards everything. She's been my best friend for 6 years and it took me this long to figure out how I felt for her all along." Steve stopped there. The only thing that could be heard was my heart beating. I didn't know what to say. I opened my mouth, yet nothing came out at all. I was stunned. Robin was quiet as well.
"Y/N?" Steve banged his hand against the stall barrier. I stared at the wall. "Did you just OD in there?" He asked. I snorted.
"Yeah no. I am very much still alive. I'm breathing." I informed him, taking a deep breath.
I heard some rustling, and then Steve slid under the stall He sat across from me.
"The floor is literally disgusting." I cringed.
"Yeah well I already got a buncha blood and puke on my shirt so," Steve and I stared at each other for a moment. We just stared. Trying to just take in the fact that it had taken us almost 6 years to figure out how we felt. "What do you think?" Steve asked.
"About?" Robin asked from the other stall. I giggled, looking down at the floor and then back up at him. Steve faced the stall leading to Robin's side.
"This girl." Steve responded.
"She sounds awesome." Robin complimented. Steve turned back towards me.
"She is awesome," He agreed. It's as if he was taking me in. "And what about the guy?" He added. It's as if Robin knew not to answer this question. Instead, he waited for my answer.
"I'm hoping that the drugs aren't messing with his brain and that he's thinking straight." I told him.
"Oh, I think he's thinking a lot clearer than usual." Steve spoke calmly. I felt butterflies in my stomach, and I wanted to scream.
"I'd hope so because I need him to be able to think clearly so all the words that I'm about to say will sink in." Steve nodded, sitting up straighter and fixing his posture. "I remember the day that you told me that you liked Nancy. You walked next door, walked right into my room, and just began to talk all about her. I told myself 'I'm happy for him' and 'I could care less about his relationships'. That was far from the truth. I told myself that because I forced myself to. I listened for hours and hours about how Nancy was your world and how she was so important to you. I remember being secretly jealous. And now I realize that it wasn't because I thought you would replace me with her; but because I liked you all along and I just didn't know." I felt tears coming to my eyes and I grabbed Steve's hand on the other side of the stall. He smiled a toothy grin.
"Dustin was right. Tommy, Carol, Nancy, Tina, everybody was right. I'm so sorry that it took me so long to realize. Steve Harrington, I've loved you all this time and I never even knew it until today. Isn't that crazy?" I asked him, a few tears slipping down. Steve scooted closer to me.
"No, it's not crazy. Wanna know what’s crazy? I knew I loved you the day that Nancy told me our relationship was bullshit. When we were by the pool together. You’d think that’s the last place I’d recognize my feelings for someone. But I remember just looking over at you.. and everything stopped. And then Dustin and the kids came along and they’d continuously ask us if we were together! They’d tell us they we should and that it’s obvious we liked each other. Hell, Dustin even brought you up on on train tracks when we were trying to capture Dart.” Steve brought up the train tracks and I pursed my lips and lifted an eyebrow.
“Wait Dustin mentioned me on the tracks?” I asked Steve curiously. Steve nodded.
“Yeah. When you went to go back to the car to get more meat he began talking about love or something. He asked me about you.” I waited for a few seconds for Steve to continue, but he never did. I figured he was leaving it there.
“And… what did you say?” I asked him. Steve finally continued the rest of the story.
“I told him that you weren’t like everyone. That you were different then Nancy, Tina, Carol, Chrissy, Sarah, basically all of them. You were the perfect type of girl to fall in love with. When Dustin asked me why I wasn’t with you, I didn’t know what to answer because I wanted to be with you… I just didn’t know how to approach it.” Steve mumbled the last part. I smiled.
“I know we’re in a really crazy scenario.. but after this, will you go on a date with me?” He asked. I smiled brighter.
“I will.” I agreed. Steve let go of my hand and came over to my side of the stall. He sat right next to me.
“Hi…” he mumbled.
“Hi.” I replied. Steve looked at my eyes for a moment before glancing down to my lips. I giggled. “If you’re gonna kiss me you better do it now.” I offered. Steve nodded and began to lean in. He was less than an inch away when Robin, who I forgot was here, spoke.
“If you guys start making out, I’m gonna go right back to the secret Russian base and have them murder me.” She said. I laughed and Steve sighed.
“Shut up, Robin.” He said. I hit his chest lightly.
“I like Robin. Be nice.” I ordered him. He smiled.
“Yeah I like her too.” He said, beginning to lean on again. I started leaning in as well. Our lips were literally right on each other’s when the door slammed open. We both tore away from each other, whipping our heads to face the door.
Dustin was in the stall doorway.
“What… the hell.”
