rating : fluffy headcanons + drabbles, use of petnames on reader [ darling and love ]
dating wilbur soot headcanons !
note : i thought i'd give headcanons / drabbles a try. i have a few ideas for other characters, but i'm unsure as to if i should format them like this or as oneshots. either way, i'll figure it out. i hope you enjoy !
masterlist [ ☆ ]
⋆˙⟡
— he's the type to hold your hand whenever, whether or not you're dating. in the store? he'll randomly reach for your hand and hold it. if your arms are full, he'll take some items off your hands and take your freshly free hand in his own free hand.
— he loves holding you in general. his favourite way to hold you is by wrapping his arms around your waist from behind. he’ll also wrap his arm around your shoulder at random, especially if he notices someone making you uncomfortable.
— he loves singing soft songs to you, whether or not it's a song he made. he loves laying with you after a long day and softly humming or singing you to sleep, especially. he absolutely adores it when you do it for him in return, but he won’t say so.
— he’s not the type to get jealous, he trusts you wholeheartedly, but he’ll get jealous if he sees someone you're not related to get particularly touchy with you.
“Darling? Oh, hello, am I interrupting?” Wilbur had just walked over, moving to hold your hand in one of his own as his other arm wrapped around your shoulders.
The person you had been talking to had instantly grown tense and backed off, seeing how touchy Wilbur instantly had been with you when they had to work up to grazing your arm or hold one of your hands. Not missing the usage of “darling”, either.
“No, we were just chatting.” You answered with ease, unaware of the mood shift from the other person as you leaned into Wilbur.
“Yeah, just chatting. I actually have to go, my friends are waiting on me.” They dismiss, offering no more than a small wave and hardly any time for a chance to respond before they leave.
Wilbur places a kiss on your cheek right after, moving to properly wrap his arms around your waist. “They left quickly.” You had grumbled under your breath with a slight huff, clearly not realizing they had been flirting with you.
“It's alright, let's go get something to snack on, love.”
— he's definitely the type to randomly throw tiny things at you. he'll throw a random piece of popcorn during a movie at home. when you're reading he'll ball up a ripped piece of paper and throw it at you. the only things he'll properly hand to you are important objects, like a tamagotchi.
— speaking of tamagotchi, he'll definitely at some point co-parent one with you. he names it together with you and will switch with you throughout the day. when he goes on tour, if you don’t come with him, he lets you keep it.
— he’s definitely written songs about and for you. whether it's a soft song about the morning spent together or a song about your ups and downs, it’s written with attention and love. he usually likes to get your opinion on the songs he’s written, but he’ll wait until the songs for you are completely done.
— when you do decide to go on tour with him, he's completely smitten and ecstatic to bring you along. you get along well with Ash, Joe, and Mark and usually go souvenir shopping and get Wilbur a gift. he's definitely had you step on stage to dance with him at least once if you were too shy to sing.
Wilbur lets out a breath, feeling like he was the embodiment of power and euphoria. His eyes go to his band mates just behind him on the stage, momentarily blocking out the crowd before his eyes land on you, just behind the curtain. A familiar loving look falls over his features as he smiles that one smile specifically for you, raising a hand and motioning you over.
They were already getting ready for their next song, but he had a sense of urgency to be close to you. When you shake your head with a clearly obviously nervous smile, he walks away from his position. Behind the curtain, his hands would find your own as his lips press to yours for even just a second before he's gently tugging you along as he steps back out onto the open stage.
He loves when you fold and join him, especially when you slip into what seemed like a natural role on stage. He can't bring himself to do anymore than take long glances when he starts talking or singing once more. Wilbur felt like his breath was taken away more and more with each passing second, yet not from the crowd or the singing.

redacted filipino hcs & thoughts! lol
mostly about shaw pack + vamps + guy&honey
inpsired by @erial-c nahiya akong itag ka pero hiiii po
the trivia and translations are probably not accurate 🧍‍♀️please forgive my very scattered brain thoughts
darlin probably does arnis. it's why they fight like a menace 😈 sam has never known peace since he's seen em wield an ital
arnis - a ph martial art
itak - a bolo sword(?)
asher doesn't call milo "tol" bc he's not tall /j
"tol" is like the equivalent of "dude" as in a way of calling your friend
lovely & darlin would probably call vincent & sam their asawang (gets niyo ba asawa + aswang)
asawa means spouse or wife or husband
aswang is a ph mythological creature. different sources tell different things but what is mostly agreed upon is that (1) they're nocturnal (2) they usually pretend to be humans in the day time if not (3) they hide in the woods (4) they prey on children, pregnant women (specifically for their unborn child), and maybe new borns. they often get lumped with vampires though i'm not too sure how accurate that is.
aspins have a very special place in darlin's heart. sam's cabin in the woods usually have attract lots of them and they never had the heart to turn them away. in a way too, they know what it's like to being wild, dirty, street dog.
aspin - a dog breed in the ph that is sort of a mix of other breeds. they often get a bad rep for being street dogs and not having a particular breed.
vincent n his cars get featured a lot in those carspotting around manila tiktoks. whenever lovely finds em they make sure to send those to vincent lol
(this is me also hoping that vincent gets to keep at least few of them when they leave the house of solaire)
not entirely sure how the entire mate thing would translate into ph culture but even with all that david & asher would insist on doing things properly before marriage - they would mamanhikan to their partner's parents respectively hehehe
mamanhikan or pamamanhikan is a like a traditional practice of going to the fiancee's family's house and asking for their hand in marriage lol.
whenever they drive down shaw boulevard, the pack would turn to david and go "taga dito ka di ba?" or something to that effect HAHAHAHHA
"taga-dito ka 'di ba?" = "you're from (around) here, right?"
angel know it's general cleaning morning whenever david is blasting opm songs or old timey songs around their house.
asher would take panliligaw very seriously!!!!! magpapaalam sa magulang lagi ni baabe paglalabas sila!!! aabangan niya after work si baabe tapos "sabay na raw sila umuwi" galawan mo asher talbot !!!! dyan ka magaling !!!! and ofc it never stopped kahit naging sila na ni baabe :)))
panliligaw or ligaw is a more traditional pre-dating courting stage in a relationship. lol
marie has definitely said to david & asher & milo & darlin at some point na "kakaselpon niyo yan". it doesn't matter that they're adults.
"kakaselpon niyo yan" = "it's because of that (damn) phone"
this one is a bit more in general: vampire houses have THE filipino family drama. territory/progeny disputes? grudges? backstabbing? been there done that.
speaking of vamps: pre-turning, sam was once an altar boy (darlin: hahaha samkristan)
speaking of sam (again): pre-turning, he has a picture in baguio, riding a horse & wearing a cowboy hat. when darlin found it they couldn't stop staring at it for a loong while.
sweetheart LOVES singing. marie loves having them over for karaoke.
marie would drag milo's ahh every night for simbang gabi.
simbang gabi - mass service for the nine nights leading up to christmas eve.
guy's filipino nickname would be "totoy"
"totoy" is another way of refering to a younger male. addtionally, it's also often used as a euphism for a dick HAHAJAHA
guy definitely has a tiktok acct tapos don siya nagpaparinig kay honey HAHAHAHA lagi niyang kinakanta "crush" by tweens of pop
guy always does those cheesy, poetry pick up line jokes to honey like:
"cheese, cheese, cheese. gusto kita i-keese (read: kiss)"
"mga 6 out of 10. medyo pilit yung rhyme"
"honey naman 😭😓"
translation:
"cheese, cheese, cheese. i want to give you a k-eese."
"a 6 out of 10. the rhyming was a bit forced."
"honey, c'mon 😭😓."
guy and honey are definitely oa x nonchalant pairings but may i also suggest na they are jeje x pogi typings. they both definitely have kanal humor though HAHAHA
- after returning to the pack, darlin couldnt help but cry tear up after marie called them "anak" again
anak = child

TOP THINGS I'M EXCITED FOR IN THE NEW RTD RUN
getting the obvious out of the way, ncuti gatwa
but more specifically, ncuti gatwa is going in with such an exciting awareness of what he got out of doctor who and how that will inform his take
and both he and millie gibson are firmly taking doctor who into the next generation. I don't know a lot about her (and youknow, I'm getting older, so she seems awfully young, but that's really all I know and isn't enough to form an opinion on -- but susan vibes? hoping she won't be a rose!repeat, but I really really don't think that's the intention here), but gatwa is also next!gen whovian (like me), which is very fun. it's a nerdy show, I like it when nerds are involved
the wardrobe is looking so goooood. three also had quite an extensive repertoire especially, and this feels quite closely aligned with that campness (not specifically the exact style ofc, new doctor, but Vibes)
the other obvious out of the way, dtennant and catherine tate
specifically that there's a lot of potential in the 60th anniversary to properly wrap up ten's and donna's arcs in a way that organically interacts with the previous ending they had. some really fun potential to play with theme and genre in that, I'm a sucker for recontextualisation, and for dtennant having a bad time (but then maybe at the end... an okay time?)
I hope this will also more effectively merge the rtd run with moffat's and chibnall's. they did do a bit more of that as they went along, but I think they both went too hard on the reset button (especially moffat). we did then get some more... what I'll call continuity, but it took a bit (look, I know, the continuity is madness on this show, but I like to know it's the same story at least, and not totally excise what came before)
also donna has a kid now, played by yasmin finney. I'm excited for all of that, the fact that she's called rose, casting yasmin finney, another form of bringing it into the present, rather than it being all about the past, the fact that she's teased in the trailer, but there's so much more to see
speaking of casting -- camp and queerness! so many of the casting announcements have been queer actors, and you know rtd loves queering shit up, and he's got soooo much more freedom to do so now than he did in 2005. It won't just be in the casting, it'll be in the stories and the character-writing
references to classic!who and other dw!materials, as always, and of course rtd loves that. I just like how much of nu!who is having fun with classic!who. and updating it of course
I said it before but. I like watching dtennant be upset. he does it very well. perhaps even tears who knows...
EDIT: CONSIDERING THE NEW THEME SONG REVEAL ALSO FORGOT TO SAY MURRAY GOLD'S MUSIC!!!
some things I'm hoping for:
that the continuity of the last series won't be severed, especially in regards to the various regenerations that have been since ten
similarly that ten's arc interacts both with how they died/what happened with donna, and that they've been other bodies since then and so there has been growth and change, but what does that mean to a multi-lifed being?
that ruby and the doctor won't have a romantic will-they-won't-they and that generally the doctor continues to be a character through which those sorts of things can be interrogated (perhaps more deliberately now than in the past....)
that there will be some more ideas about gender, as has been increasingly played with over the last few years
that ncuti gatwa being black influences the kinds of stories being told in regards to what kind of history and future is important
that rose's part in the specials is important (I mean, even the fact that she's donna's kid is already important, but on her own as well -- that she gets something cool to do)!
that UNIT won't be toooo involved. I'm currently watching three from the start and I remember that UNIT does a lot in that one, and that's fine, I get that there's precedent. but also they're not my favourite part of DW, generally the doctor being associated with Institutions of a military nature. makes sense for three, who's relatively trapped on earth, and I like the way it's one of humanity's ways of reacting to alien life both in classic and nu!who, but never trust military. anyway, UNIT's fine for the specials, also ties in previous seasons with kate, but hoping won't be so much in ncuti gatwa's arcs. or that there's more conflict involved with them being involved
that new writers are brought onboard, especially women, black writers, and millennials
that it'll still be sincere. that it won't suffer from irony poisoning and over-reliance on references (don't think the latter is so much the issue), and that the bigger budget won't erode its ability to tell deeply personal intimate person stories, which has been an issue over the last few years and could be a problem in future. this isn't the show of massive explosions and michael by action, it's the show or a bunch of nerds who want to see practical effect aliens and cry about them

Hello Puts!
I don't think I have seen you share your thoughts about Keiko's latest single. I personally really enjoy this release and I am curious how you feel about it?
Tumblr media
Ugh, yeah, you got me there🫣I've been uncharacteristically quiet about Keiko's 「夕闇のうた」. Quite frankly, I've just not had enough positive things to say to warrant a proper review😭. As most of you probably know, I do not get any pleasure from lingering on stuff I don't particularly like, I simply move on and prefer to focus on things I actually enjoy. But hey, since you asked, I might as well write up a few things that have been going through my mind.
Disclaimer: Needless to say, this is all just my personal opinion. I am by no means an expert on music or singing, I am just a fan who is very invested in my girls but due to having a very specific taste, not everything works for me but of course that doesn't mean that it won't work for anyone else.
Let's start with the single's A-Side 「夕闇のうた/Yūyami no Uta」. It's not like I hate the song or anything, objectively it's a decent track, I just can't really get into it. There are some songs and melodies that immediately resonate with me, others grow on me over time and then there are some I need to hear performed live to properly appreciate them. In this case, none of these options apply unfortunately. We got our very first snippet way back at the end of November and to be honest, that didn't do much for me which already kinda tempered my excitement. Ever since then the song has had time to marinate but I haven't been able to warm up to it. Even the live performance at last year's Kaji Fes didn't have a noteworthy effect on me. My last hope was hearing the full studio version but my reaction was once again rather lukewarm. The visuals of the PV helped a bit to get me into a good mood for the song but ultimately, I was pretty much underwhelmed. And the worst thing is, I struggle to pinpoint what exactly is bothering me about the song. One thing I am definitely not a fan of is the overly rushed and repetitive drum-beat in the verses, for some reason I feel like it clashes a bit with Keiko's singing and cheapens the overall vibe of the song but that could just be my personal impression. I prefer a good build-up to a chorus and I don't think we are getting it here. Speaking of the chorus, the structure of the chorus doesn't work for me or maybe it's the melody (lack thereof?) that doesn't appeal to me? Not sure exactly but it's not giving me what I would have liked. The first part starting with "inori" is pretty generic and then we get a sort of crescendo for "utau/fureru" which feels oddly out of place, especially when it transitions right into the scat singing. Maybe there is too much different stuff going on or it's all happening too fast but it doesn't have the impact on me which it probably should have. I am usually a big fan of Keiko's scat singing, I mean, her yay- yay-yay part in YK's "vanity" or Kalafina's "Door" regularly gives me an eargasm so why the hell does it leave me so unimpressed in "Yūyami no Uta"???!!! I guess it's more of a combination of the melodic arrangement and the accompanying scatting which makes songs like "vanity" or "Door" so much more epic for me....? As for the bridge, it's okay I suppose. In her interviews, Keiko has mentioned multiple times how her progress as a vocalist has made it possible to tackle all these high parts and that just a few years ago, Yuki Kajiura would have assigned Yuriko Kaida or one of her other chorus singers to sing those sections. Keiko's higher registers are a hit and miss for me, sometimes they work, other times not so much. Here she sounds perfectly fine and I fully understand why YK would feel confident to let Keiko handle this on her own. But again, the whole part is just meh and by now I am convinced that it is because the song doesn't have a sufficiently nice melody to provide a good base for Keiko's singing.
I want to continue with 「夕闇のうた Special Edit ver.」 because I honestly feel like we have been robbed of something really good here. Whoever decided to bypass this in favour of the normal version should really start questioning their life choices. I am not saying that this version is perfect (we don't even get all that much to form an opinion on it) but from what I hear, it is superior in many ways and would have worked better as an ending (edit: apparently, it has actually been used as ED on the 3rd ep). That gorgeous strings intro alone takes the song to a whole new level, making it so much more melodic. And the somewhat obtrusive drums feel way more toned down here since they are introduced at a later point of the song to create more of a proper build-up towards the chorus. The chorus itself is pretty much the same from what I can tell but I wonder what the bridge and the remainder of the verses would have sounded like in this style. The ending verse of the song also works a lot better for this special edit, wish they had included all of it starting from "itoshii" and then concluded it with another strings section.
Now all that's left to talk about is the single's B-Side, 「燈命/Tōmei」. This song is a big no-go for me so I'll keep it short. The composition, arrangement and lyrics were all done by Saku who has previously worked with Keiko on "Ray" (Lantana), "Sakura wo Goran" (dew) and "YOUR" (CUTLERY). He was only in charge of the arrangement for"Sakura wo Goran" but out of those three songs, "Tōmei" feels closest to this one in terms of vibe and overall blandness. I've come to enjoy "YOUR" quite a bit (even if I am not so happy with some of Keiko's higher notes) and "Ray" is decent too but my entire body outright rejects songs like "Sakura wo Goran" and "Tōmei". Sorry🙈I don't even know what else to say. I listened to it and immediately was like, nope, next one please.
Phew, this turned out longer than expected. I feel shabby for going on and on about all the stuff I didn't like but oh well, what's done is done. Moving on...

I kinda roll my eyes whenever I see posts mocking the whole "don't spam like" "unalive" tiktokification of social media, but not in the genuine "it's a fucking travesty that people have to self censor and think about algorithms that actively tries to screw over the users" way but rather in a "haha, new social media is dumb, I'm a bitter 30 year old" way.
Like, yeah, on Tumblr getting the response of "don't spam like" is fucking annoying because it doesn't do shit other than just show that someone's looking at all of your stuff, but spam liking is not binging a page. It is specifically when someone goes onto someone's tiktok and proceeds to mass-like videos without actually watching them all the way through, it's just scrolling and liking without actually watching the content, which communicates to the algorithm "hey, this person's videos suck because people stop watching at the 3 second mark" and stops pushing your videos.
This doesn't matter for people who are doing it for fun, I don't care personally on my tiktok, spam like away, but when people are trying to make a career out of it by either being an influencer or advertising their small business or trying to show music they've written or just wanna share work they're proud of it's annoying to get screwed by someone showing misplaced love. Especially when there was a window of time were people would spam like as an attack to try and fuck someone over and "shadowban" them.
And the making fun of the censoring is even more fucking stupid. I have posted 2 videos that got dinged for having inappropriate content and got two strikes on my tiktok that I've been running for about 5 years. Anyone who has seen my tiktoks knows I am as inoffensive as you get, I don't do thirst traps, I have Content and Trigger and Flash warnings, I hand-type captions on all of my videos and if I do use the auto-generated ones I watch the video back to make sure they're all correct, I just lipsync to silly audios and basically make video versions of incorrect quotes of whatever my hyperfixation is at the moment.
One was me painting a nerf gun and a nerf crossbow to look like a real gun and real crossbow to be props, which was dinged for showing firearms. My video of me painting a neon yellow gun and bright pink crossbow to black and woodgrain was marked as dangerous content because either someone chose to report me or whatever scanners they use to pick out "dangerous" videos misread and assumed I had real firearms and wouldn't repeal it. My other video, with multiple content and trigger warnings, had an audio that went "For my next trick, I'm gonna fucking kill myself". And while the audio was allowed to stay on tiktok and other people were allowed to use it, because I had a caption and a description that read: TW: Suicidal ideation and properly typing out captions, I got penalized.
But with tiktok, your post isn't just taken down, you have a limited number of strikes and if you get too many, you're entire fucking page is eaten. Just gone, erased, and there is no way for you to get it back. And I have two strikes for: painting a toy black and lipsyncing to a popular audio.
People aren't arbitrarily using "sewer-slide" "grapist" "unalived" and "pew pew" because they wanna infantilize this serious issue, it's because they want to talk about this serious issue without being silenced and, like it or not, tiktok is where word travels fast and to the biggest audience these days. Being "shadowbanned" and having all of your messages get strangled because you used the proper terminology, if not getting kicked straight off the platform, is too high a risk for someone who uses that platform. Especially if they do also use it to advertise, to squeeze a few pennies from the creator fund, to try and make it big or even just to fucking have fun.
I don't know if shadowbanning ever was actually a thing, I just do silly costumes to songs for fun, but there were many people who'd be trying to get traction to show work or get sales or speak out about a bad situation and suddenly they'd go from getting hundreds of thousands of views on every single video to maybe a couple hundred because they had the audacity to say "this shooter is a fucking monster" rather than "this [pew-pewer] is a [bad bad person]"
And if TikTok was their first social media platform, of course they're gonna think other platforms are also ruling with an iron fist. I still feel weird being allowed to say shit like gun and murder on Tumblr because there's a voice in the back of my head that says I'm gonna get my entire blog taken away for daring to use the proper words.
I don't know, maybe I'm missing something, but I think the most well known and most encouraged to use platform of these last few years is also one that's so highly regulated that people are pre-emptively trying to figure out how to talk about important things without it totalitarian-ly beating them into a fine paste with the algorithm so people just see the silly little dance videos tiktok would rather push over the people communicating real world problems is more fucked up than Stacy saying "unalived" on Reddit out of habit.

Here's my review of Bang Dream! It'sMyGO!!!!! on Letterboxd which incidentally is the only review of it on Letterboxd at this moment and I feel unreasonably braggadocios about having been the first one to leave a review for this particular show on that particular website
Okay so you should read that now but also I kinda want to mention a few specific things that really fucking got me in the show.
Scroll away if you don't want to spoil yourself or whatever.
First of all-ly. The live performances were really good. They surprised me a lot in that they actually very convincingly sold these girls as inexperienced amateurs who don't know how to work together.
When watching it, I was expecting the girls' first live performance to go like, y'know, big perfect hyper-well coreographed CGI anime girl song performance, like is normal in this genre generally.
Instead, THIS happens:
At this, I literally laugh-cried so hard so much. Like, god damn, the major anime music girls franchise let its girls just suck at the music, like actually seriously for real, just suck. And then they bounce back and do perform properly of course and get into a groove with each other, and it's really cool and energetic and stuff but
ALSO IT SOUNDS WRONG.
Like, the sound mixing is done wrong, on purpose. The instruments overtake Tomori's voice just a bit too much to still get across that they have still prepared really badly for this and are kind of still doing this sort of badly and that makes it cool when they give a good performance anyway.
Anyway. Then there's the whole arc with Soyo and her being emotionally manipulative to try and get her and Tomori's old band back together. And she's genuinely toxic and acts like an angry ex-wife who can't accept that her ex-wife has divorced her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I need them to hatefuck about it. I need a hatefuck doujin of them now.)
And I kind of love-hated Soyo this whole time for being so emotionally manipulative and seeming almost hell-bent on burning all the bridges she has left but well anyway the thing that got me later is after Tomori gets everyone back together with her song poem and they all cry it out
And she's like "why??? I was so terrible and I used you" but even still Tomori expresses that it doesn't matter and she still wants them all together and just
AND IT'S SOO AAAAHHHHH
And that got me just because. Just. Forgiveness is just a really powerful thing and it takes a lot to do it and it's hard but sometimes you need to forgive your friends when they hurt you for things to move forward better than before and more often than not that's a losing gamble but it's so worth it when it pans out and aaahhhhhhhh
Oh, yeah, and then there's the ending reveal that Sakiko has an abusive father.
We'll have to wait to see how that plays into the Ave Mujica anime but that also really got me. That was something
And also um
I liked the gay aquarium penguins
Tumblr media
Okay so anyway um
I have nothing more of significance to say at this time.
There. There's media talk rant ramble for that.
So here's our links etc if you want to leave a tip for this one

if you liked Don't Blame Me you should listen to the rest of the album, Are We There Yet? the entire thing is about breakups and the cycle of toxic love! not only does the music absolutely fuck but it'll ruin you
I've listened through the album once in the background of doing other things, so I wasn't paying much attention to the lyrics. I should listen to it properly, because if it's about break ups and toxic love it'll be perfect for my Sorry It's Locked playlist
OKAY I'm back having relistened to the whole album. And this got long soooooo hiding it so it looks neater.
Romanticise This????? Alex's pov on breaking Jay's heart and betraying him. "God forbid that I romanticise this"? Like, as far as I'm concerned, Alex romanticises breaking Jay's heart through believing that it was the only choice he had to save him, he was doing it for the greater good.
You Are Here, i love this one so much and it makes me think of the entry 80 and onward fic idea I have for the sorry It's locked universe, where both Jay and Alex have kinda done a little healing (mostly Jay if i'm being honest, Alex if fucked) and they meet again under the circumstances of, yknow, entry 80. Jay's trying to kinda talk Alex out of killing him, and like, is just kinda realising how much he's had to change for them both to be here in this moment, but he also realises upon seeing Alex that he hasn't changed enough.
Idk I think it's more the general vibes of the song than the lyrics in this one but I still love it.
"You are here, And so am I, So come for a moment, And stay for a while" I think this bit is the most lyrically similar to the fic idea, like, Jay's going to not be able to bring himself to push Alex away even after he's shot him and they'll just both stay there together until Jay dies in Alex's arms.
In Between, Alex again, like, just, thinking about everything that came before, back when they were in Uni together. Like, him thinking about the things he'd do differently now (if all the shit with the Operator wasn't happening) Especially the chorus with the, like, wanting to "be like you" and "be with you" like, Alex kinda admiring Jay in a way I guess? Like, I'm thinking admiring Jay's ability to, like, be vaguely more open about his sexuality than Alex ever was. I'm terrible at analysis. THEY'RE MY BABIES AND THIS SONG MAKES ME GO "ALEX ARARARARARARARARARARA" there we go.
Then like, the last verse where it's like the chorus but changed a little? That's like Alex in the entry 80 fic idea realising how badly he fucked everything up and how there's no way to fix it now. He can't be like Jay, he can't be with Jay.
On The Other Side, more Alex, except it's Alex finally kinda losing it and realising he is very much not in control of himself or the Operator, and that the Operator is pretty much conpletely in control of his actions, or like, the thought processes that inform his actions. Specifically the end of the song I think, tho like, the whole "You wont find me on the other side" feels almost like he's resigned himself to hell after death, whereas everyone he's killed (and eventually Jay because he's realising he'll have to kill jay too now) won't be there with him. He's like, resigning himself to being okay with that reality.
The whole "I'll sleep in the eye of the storm" line to me feels like it could be about the Operator kinda. Like, the Operator is the storm, and Alex is sleeping in the eye of it, as in, staying close to it and kinda doing what it says (while also trying to still save people from it) is the best way to keep himself alive for longer so he can "save" more people from it in the end. I think that makes sense? God knows. I'm tired and terrible as song analysis.
Once again: Alex ararararrarararararrarararararararrarar
Okay. I'm done. My apologies for ranting I just love this fic SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much that any chance I get to talk about it, I will talk until my jaw falls off because oh my GOD I love these characters so fucking much.
Denial, Jam Jam Jam Jam Jam Jam. Jam. Idk, this just feels like Jam in Sorry It's Locked. Specifically because as great (comparatively) as their relationship is there are still issues they're ignoring/staying in denial of. They definitely hook up too quick, they definitely need to talk things through more before they have sex, but they don't because they really don't have the time for that. They're making the best of a shit situation and as much as Tim would like to be sensible, he'd also like to do stuff before one or both of them ends up dead. They try to talk about stuff after they hook up but "How can we speak with all our clothes on the floor?"
"Say what you need and you can stay for a while, Say what I like so I can stay in denial" Jay talking to Tim methinks. He's just trying to forget everything. Everything that happened with Alex, everything that's happening with the Operator. He just wants something he can use to pretend his life is normal.
"Won't you come away with me? And water 'til we're overgrown" Tim being so very hopeful that they'll get out of this alive and well and they'll be able to grow older together.
"So just hypothetically, Will you be the death of me?" As much as they like each other, they definitely don't fully trust each other. In their situation they can't, so they're definitely wary of the other being the literal death of them lmaooooo. But also 'oh you'll be the death of me' in the fun cute way because like, sometimes they can pretend things are normal and their relationship is normal and came about in a normal way.

was tagged by some lovely people - thank you all so much, that’s always very nice 🖤 - didn’t do this kinda thing in a long while, so let’s go :) (under the cut for the annoyed crowd)
tagged by @emotionalsupportwarcriminal 🖤
Rules: Tag 10 5 people you’d like to get to know better!
Relationship status: been abandoned (we’re coping) Favorite color: let’s say green for the sake of the question. But picking favorites is not a thing I like to do (like a lot of you know 🌚) Song stuck in my head: woke up with a Hotel in Memphis by Half Moon Run in my head Last song listened to: Tidal Wave (acoustic) by Old Sea Brigade (apparently) Last googled: oarfish Dream Trip: a few on my mind, or a lot rather, but there are no specifics if I cannot actually make plans for it Anything I want now: too many things, sincerely. Some rest, probably, would be on the top

Last song: as above, Tidal Wave (acoustic) by Old Sea Brigade Currently watching: from the shows, the finale of What We Do in the Shadows today and in ‘general around time’ it's Ahsoka, Only Murders in the Building, Harley Quinn and will start the Wheel of Time soon cause premiere ! Thinking about rewatching Strange New Worlds and Voyager very intensely 👀 as for the movies, I'm trying to get through Mission Impossible franchise cause Rebecca Ferguson 🫡 Currently reading: fanfiction (always always) and I’m also stuck on Dune Messiah (F. Herbert), Caliban's War (J.S.A. Corey) and various Jung essays from his Collected Works Current obsession: not sure what could I count as such ? Especially now with my no time cause work disease™ 👀 the only thing could be ships probably, since I’m reading for specific ships only rn

tagged by @pangalactics & @carlithiel 🖤🖤
Rules: Tag 10 of your comfort shows, then tag 10 people
not sure what ‘comfort’ here would mean, even with @pangalactics & @carlithiel doing it before, cause I don’t think that I do comfort comfort if you know what I mean 👀 so let’s say it’s either shows I rewatched (or rewatched specific episodes from) OR shows which the vibe I (?) find comforting/cozy-ish (??) let’s go with that, I guess ?
Doctor Who (both rewatched specific episodes multiple times and I do find it comforting, maybe not all of it, but you get it)
Succession (rewatched episodes multiple times, rewatched whole seasons multiple times)
ST: Voyager (rewatched multiple episodes many times, also do find some aspects comforting in a Trek way - if you know you know)
ST: Strange New Worlds (the vibes are immaculate and will definitely rewatch soon)
What We Do in the Shadows (I find it very easy in a good way, rewatched multiple times)
Abbott Elementary (really rewatchable with good vibes, maybe not all episodes but a lot)
Harley Quinn (recently rewatched and it was really nice to do so)
Ted Lasso (rewatched s1 and few other episodes from other seasons for the vibes)
Lost in Space (rewatched the whole thing, really nice vibes, they should have gotten another season to properly close it off imo)
Rick and Morty (purely my friends’ fault. I’m blaming my friends and substances. But it is a fun one if the stars are aligned)
this feels like a weird list but okaY let’s go with that.

as always tagging cause I think it’s nice but obviously no pressure on anyone for anything. And thank you for tagging me once again, it was really nice and sweet of you 🖤

Ooh yay, another ask game! I'm very curious about blue and brown! (At least, I'm assuming you won't mind if I send you two questions in the same ask haha)
Oh you're right, I forgot to specify!! Absolutely, I don't mind receiving more questions in a single ask (it's a sure way to make me happy, actually!). Speaking of which -- thank you so much for yours!
💙 Blue: What inspires you to finish writing a fanfic, and what makes you quit writing one at any stage in the process?
I'll start with the second part of the question: I don't think I've ever decided to completely *quit* writing a fanfic, per se. I sometimes stop actively working on a WIP for a while, but I always pick it back up in the end, even if it takes me multiple months and tries. Some end up fairly different from how they were at the beginning, but they always end up somewhere, eventually.
As for the first half of the question, the answer is very similar to how I decide to write a fanfic in the first place -- I need the right moment of inspiration! Sometimes the trick is listening to certain songs while I write, sometimes I need to take a walk or read or do other stuff so my brain can work behind the scenes, sometimes I bolt up in the middle of the night and I've solved whatever issue there was that stopped me from finishing a WIP. A thing I do when nothing else works is writing it down in the worst possible way, just to fill the page, even if it sounds more like a sequence of bullet points than an actual fic -- once the page isn't blank anymore, things get easier for me :)
🤎 Brown: How did you decide to write (or why are you writing) a certain fanfic? (Asker, feel free to choose a specific story you're curious about. You can also let the answerer choose the story.)
Oh, in general, I just play around with the idea for a bit, maybe try writing down some lines / an outline in my drabbles document, and once I get the feeling that it's flowing properly it gets transferred to its own doc and becomes a full-fledged work. Very rarely, I get ideas that I don't feel like writing down at all (mostly because they're too angsty/don't vibe with the canon material lmao) and I just keep those in my head to play with when I'm in the mood for something with no stakes, apart from my own enjoyment :)
As for specific works, I'm often inspired by music (4/8 works published on my Ao3, and at least one WIP in my WIP folder, were inspired by songs). Other times I watch a scene or an episode in a show and I feel the need to delve into it a little more, or maybe I simply want to spend a little more time with it (this is what happened with sonata for trio, for example). It's more rare, but sometimes I get compelled by personal experiences (this is true for one other WIP and for A Piece Of (Cheese)Cake, at the moment -- I got the idea for the latter while baking a cake myself!).
Finally, sometimes I get inspired by mutuals' posts, as you well know! :) i hope you do believe me [...] was inspired by one of your posts! Your observations hit just right for me, and my brain provided some scenes that were simply too much fun not to write down :) You all have such wonderful ideas -- even if I don't write a fic for them, I hope you know I'm rotating them in my head at all times :')

hello! thanks for doing the valentines match-ups, it's such a cute idea!
nickname: J
pronouns: she/her
personality type: I'm an isfj and enneagram 6! I tend to be quite reserved around people that I've just met and even though I have no issues carrying a conversation, I find it really hard to start one. I'm easy-going and generally don't like conflict, but I'm an honest person and don't like to sugarcoat things, so if someone says something problematic or that I really don't agree with, I can't help but show it on my face even if I've just met the person, and if it's a friend or an acquaintance I'll definitely call them out on it and even argue with them if it's something that I really believe in. it takes me quite a long while to properly open up to people, so only my close friends get to see my loud and crazy side; most of my core memories feature literally rolling around on the floor laughing with my close friends. confident and cool on the surface but prone to overthinking and anxiety, though I'd rather die than let people see me cry, especially the people that I care about.
likes: writing, sunsets, music (specifically pop, rock, and indie)
dislikes: tomatoes, long distance running, pretentious people who think they're too good for pop music
hobbies: journalling and music! I sing and play the guitar
I have a soft spot for gom, kaijo, and seirin, but I'm cool if you'd think anyone else would be a better match!
thanks again for doing this! I hope this wasn't too long ><

Type of Romance
Strangers to Lovers
How You Two Met
Kasamatsu had been in the music room after classes one day, practice having been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. With some time to kill and not wanting to be harassed by his more rowdier teammates, he'd decided to spend some of his time practicing his other hobbies: namely guitar.
You had decided to do pretty much the same and were on your way to the music room when you heard the notes of a familiar song already being played. Whoever was on the inside of the classroom was good, the melody recognizable the instant it hit your ears.
When the song had ended, you entered the classroom to see Kasamatsu seated inside. You wanted to compliment him on his playing. However...
Tumblr media
"That was really good. Do you play guitar a lot?" you asked as you entered the classroom, locking eyes with the Kaijou captain.
It all seemed to go downhill from there as, the second his eyes locked onto yours, Kasamatsu's face seemed to go red. He opened his mouth, only to close it seconds later as no sound came out. He could feel his nerves start to kick in and he stood from his seat quickly, nearly toppling over the guitar he had just been playing.
"Yes!" he answered, almost too loud and too quickly. Realizing he sounded like a fool, he bowed quickly and added, "Bye!" Before he practically ran out of the room.
How He Fell For You
It was clear from the beginning that Kasamatsu had a hard time talking with girls, but that didn't stop you from catching him in the music room every so often. And that didn't stop him from going there.
Kasamatsu was glad that, after that first meeting, you never really forced him to talk outright, instead letting the music between the two of you do the speaking. Eventually he stopped running out of the room the second you arrived, instead staying seated and playing along with whatever tunes were in his head. When you started joining in with him, he may have faltered a bit, but it soon became some kind of unspoken language between the two of you.
Eventually actual words were reintroduced into your 'conversations', with you doing most of the talking. Day by day, he seemed to stutter less and less.
Tumblr media
You had walked in on Kasamatsu playing a tune you didn't recognize, the melody slow and sweet. He didn't even flinch when you walked closer, taking the sit directly adjacent from him. While he played, you nodded your head along and smiled at the music.
When the song ended and he simply stayed staring at his fingers on the frets, you asked, "What song was that? It was really nice."
He seemed to pause for a second, finding the words that wouldn't get caught on his tongue. After a moment, he choked out three syllables, "I wrote it." He tried to ignore your interested awe, head full of fuzz when you asked him what he'd titled his song. Speaking before he could back down, he answered, "W-Will You Go Out with Me?"
What a Relationship with Him is Like
A relationship with Kasamatsu is slow going. Despite dating you, he's still extremely nervous to be doing most things with you alone. It's a good thing he has so many friends who are willing to stick around when he finally announces he's dating someone. He totally isn't angry that they keep pestering the both of you. Nope. Not at all...
With how nervous and stammering he was around you at first, it definitely comes as a surprise when you learn about it true nature around his friends and teammates. He almost seems more embarrassed to have you see him that way, but it only encourages you to show more of yourself to him as well.
All in all, a relationship with Kasamatsu is a learning experience for the both of you where, as every day goes by, you only grow closer and closer.
Tumblr media
"Sorry about them," Kasamatsu mutters as he glares at his retreating teammates, making sure they actually left you and him alone for the remainder of your time together. Under his breath, you hear him grumble something about extra laps and drills.
It had you laughing. And when you linked your hand with his, threading your fingers together and causing him to flush red, you laughed more. "I don't mind. It's interesting seeing this different side of you."
"Y-yeah?" He huffed a bit, trying to fight back the heat on his face. Despite the embarrassment, he gave you a small smile. "You're pretty interesting yourself, J."

Happy late Winter Solstice everyone! Before the month gets too old and before my memory of two Saturdays ago fades too much more, I want to talk about the NYC solstice event.
Around a year ago I posted a report on my experience at the major NYC (Winter) Secular Solstice event (tl;dr: I had issues because of my decision to drive all the way there and wasn't able to get to the afterparty for this reason but got a lot out of the main event despite being slightly late). At the time I expected to return for a summer solstice event with the same crowd, an NYC version of which appears not to have happened. But on Saturday night I went for my second time to the NYC Secular Solstice -- this time more wisely electing to drive most of the distance and then take a train into Manhattan -- and am very glad I did. (I didn't choose to stay the night, attend the megameetup or unconference events that happened on Friday or Saturday.) Below is a rundown of my experience and takeaways. (Below I'll tag several Tumblr-users whom I got to interact with in person on Saturday; if you are one of those people and would prefer to be un-tagged or have an issue with my description of our interaction please just let me know.)
Like last year I arrived around 20 minutes late to the main event (this time from a combination of sloppy time management and confusion over the names of buildings) but seemed to have missed more than I had last year: I didn't feel like I was there for many speeches/songs before it was time for intermission.
Early into intermission I ran into someone I soon saw was @taymonbeal (one of the very first people I knew on Tumblr from around 2014-2015) who had tipped me off that he would be there. We talked briefly, and I mentioned something about not seeing him on Tumblr much anymore like back in my earliest days here, and he said something about a lot of the Tumblr rationalists migrating away from Tumblr in the wake of the porn ban five years ago. Obviously he didn't mean most of rationalist-adjacent Tumblr (I can attest that almost nobody directly in my orbit left, actually, and my Tumblr experience changed only subtly), and he clarified that he didn't mean necessarily directly in response to the porn ban, but that it instigated a number of changes that eventually resulted in the harder-core rationalist people finding other places to hang out. And now I can't believe I never properly made this connection before: I've noticed for years that major figures like Scott, Ozy, and Kelsey ("the unit of caring") are hardly ever around but once were very active, since probably sometime in 2019, and I never made the connection with the timing of the porn ban in late 2018. It didn't change my Tumblr experience very significantly, since I wasn't directly interacting with those people much, and I was still keeping up with Scott's and Ozy's more serious blog posts elsewhere.
I was a little more relaxed for the second half of the event and able to get into it a bit more, but I overall for some reason didn't find myself getting into the program as much as I did last year. It may have to do with my own mood, the rest of my week (or the mental place I've been in this fall or year in general) or the decreased novelty of the event, rather than anything different about the program itself or how it was run. I recognized many of the songs from having heard them only at last year's solstice event (and possibly looked some up a year ago right afterwards, I don't remember); I think most are really good and (as I may have said before) if productions of the rationalist repertoire of solstice songs were all put together in an album, I would consider buying that album. Anyway, the program seemed very close to last year's apart from some differences in the set of readings. I do specifically remember from last year that the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" was done towards the end when the end of the longest night is imagined and the program contains more hopeful numbers, and it wasn't done this year, as well as a song from last year whose lyrics include a poetic description of a smartphone which did not appear this year, although perhaps it was done before I arrived.
Although there is a visible anti-religious streak in the rationalist community for obvious reasons, in a way this kind of event is as religious as, say, a Unitarian Universalist service -- I choose this as a point of comparison mainly because I've been to far more UU services than of any other religion but mostly because there's a different sort of anti-religious streak in UU as well and at least mild overlap with rationalism. During the second half of the solstice event, I busied myself with thinking about why the vibe of this rationalist event still resonated with me a lot more than the vibe of most UU services I've been to, and why I feel more comfortable identifying with rationalist culture as a result. I've already let enough time pass and enough other tasks get in the way to have a very clear memory of my conclusions, but the ethos of this annual rationalist event differs from that of UU services in that
part of the message of the rationalist Secular Solstice is "the world is sad and broken and we have a lot to worry about", whereas that is part of the typical UU message but even more of the latter is about "we are each broken and are coming together to share in each other's suffering";
the winter Secular Solstice (which for obvious reasons is meant to focus on darkness) puts as much emphasis on hope, the goodness of humanity (which in my opinion is an essential aspect of true humanism!) and a possible light at the end of the tunnel, while the main UU congregation I knew kind of made noises about hope and inspiration all the time but this was always outweighed by the emphasis on how both guilty and broken we all are; and
the UU vibe I've seen in the last decade is... the best word I've stumbled upon to describe it is "touchy-feely", and with less intellectualness despite the congregation being disproportionately smart, nerdy, and educated, while the rationalist Secular Solstice has a very cerebral, intellectual aspect while still being moving for a lot of the people involved.
I hadn't been able to find information about an afterparty beforehand and was going to be upset if there wasn't going to be one, because a lot of my intent in going this year was to not fail as I did last year to get more face-to-face interaction and socializing with the Northeastern rationalist crowd. Not only was there an afterparty, which I ultimately found more rewarding than the main event, but it was relatively conveniently nearby (not a long journey over into New Jersey like last year). On the subway ride over, I and a couple of other participants wound up losing the rest of the crowd and traveling on our own -- one of these was @augurydefier who I hadn't known before but who I wound up in pleasant conversation with for a while that evening (it was a bemusingly nice experience to have her ask me about my Tumblr handle, immediately recognize the name "Liskantope" -- guess my pronunciation isn't far from the one others have in their heads -- and introduce me to someone else as a member of rat-adj Tumblr with "rat-adj" pronounced out loud exactly as it should be). I still haven't quite been able to find the Tumblr handle of the other person who was with us on the way over but will edit it in if I do find him and he is all right with it. It's fun and a bit novel to meet people IRL and then become acquainted on Tumblr through this.
The afterparty was in (I think) a hotel lobby and we were among the first ones to show up, but it soon became filled with solstice participants who were all interesting to talk to, including someone I'd met once before at a small ACX meetup event some distance away. The most surreal moment for me was when I spotted @drethelin (someone I've known since my very first days on Tumblr, and since before that from Slate Star Codex comment sections) walking into the room: I'd seen him post selfies from time to time and I hope he doesn't mind me saying that he has a very striking appearance, so I was able to recognize him immediately. I hadn't had any reason to expect to see him. For some reason his real-life name popped into my head immediately from having seen it once on a Twitter screenshot or something (I can only remember the names I've seen the most occasionally and not those of people I see all the time) which (after awkwardly staring at him for a few moments) I addressed him by. I always had an inkling from what I'd seen of him online that he's super laid-back, friendly, and chill and easy to talk to, and that impression turned out to be entirely accurate: soon we were sitting at a table chatting as though we'd been real-life acquaintances for years; we discussed the age-reversal endeavors of Bryan Johnson and Scott Alexander's personality to those who know him as a personal friend and his old LiveJournal community, among other things. He convinced me that I would probably love the rationalist "un-conference" (taking place the next day but I had no plan to go), that it wouldn't be the intimidating, hard-core-rationalisty workshop I'd for some reason been imagining, and that I'll probably look into participating in it next December provided I'm still living/working in the general geographic area.
I didn't get back to my home until past 3am with enough work ahead of me that it's not surprising I didn't get around to reporting on this experience until now, but overall I found it a valuable one and plan to return around next winter's solstice, again, provided I'm still in the area. As I'd already had a very pleasant get-together with @limeadeislife earlier in the day, the Saturday before last I made a personal record of getting to meet / chat with three different people on the same day (Limeade, Taymon, and Drethelin) I'd been long familiar with on rat-adj Tumblr, plus augurydefier ("Slice") who recognized my handle and I've since connected to here. This record for interacting in person with people I otherwise would only know online as Liskantope might not be matched in the future but hopefully at some point it will be.

The most underrated mcr song is party at the end of the world. If you asked me right now to sing it I wouldn’t know what to do. I don’t remember how she goes without hearing first.
Tumblr media
oh okay see this could be my bad or like a semantics thing bc im definitely defining "underrated" as song that should be appreciated/ranked more highly than it generally is among fans, no matter how highly it currently is. obvs that's an impossible thing to properly measure which is why there are lots of correct answers here lol. so like for example thank you for the venom and the end/dead are very loved but imo they should be up there with mama and helena in terms of Timelessly Iconic Quintessential My Chem Songs that nobody ever says a bad word about yk? and in a different way, teenagers is their most played song on spotify which i don't think it deserves, but that does mean that on here people unfairly dismiss it or ignore it a lot when it's really fucking good and musically clever song. i defs should have specified that im mostly talking about online mcr fandom and not the general public lol
the interesting thing in dedicated fandom circles is that often a disproportionate amount of attention is given to the less famous deep cuts. i definitely understand why and i do it myself too but sometimes it results in really good main album tracks getting less appreciation around here than they deserve (in fan spaces specifically) compared to bsides, bonus tracks etc. and i totally agree that a couple of my fave tracks are deep cuts but i think sometimes some of those fandom faves actually wouldn't stand out as much to us if they were just on an album dhdlhff.
anyway by that metric i would actually agree that party at the end of the world is underrated bc ur right it's literally never mentioned when it does slap. but once again definitely not a contender for the most

DEMO RELEASE DATE! Announcements, what to expect, and many thanks!
Tumblr media
DEMO RELEASE: May (Prologue + Chapter 1)
It's real, it's coming, and I'm so excited!
I'm a senior in college who's currently getting through (surprisingly, may I add) her last year in this, well, hell that is higher education (that, here in Spain, means I'm doing both my last four-month period, my internships, and the bachelor's degree thesis, and it's a lot, and I lose the will to live, sometimes /j). The Deal has been a delight and a dream to write, my two-year-old child. I'm sure everyone interested in the supernatural and in (hot) demons and angst will find it worth their time!
What I'm about to announce now is, of course, subject to change. I can't promise to have everything coded by May (not counting the prologue + chapter 1, that's personal, you WILL have that), BUT my plan would be to make the initial demo five chapters long, write and code the rest of the story, then gradually publish a chapter each week. I calculate five chapters would be about... 100k+ words? Maybe more, maybe less. The entire story is very tightly outlined up to Paradiso, the third part, but I can always get a new idea that changes everything, adds more content, or completely disregards a previous section. Given that I code everything properly... the PLAN is to publish a chapter each month! Chapter 1 in May, 2 in June, 3 in July, etc, etc.
Inferno is... going to be long. 24 chapters divided into two parts + prologue, and epilogue. I want to take the time to sincerely thank everyone for your support. Even just one like gives me a motivation boost!
Tumblr media
What can you expect from the initial demo in May? Good question! You will:
Meet Josh and Villanelle. Determine the nature of your relationship with them (you can have a conscious or unrealized crush on them, be friends with them, or be 'meh' about them).
Discover THE MC nickname... 'Dot'!
Determine who your MC is, and the main traits that will make up your character. Every trait has its up and downs, a benefit and a disadvantage. Ex, outgoing Dot thrives and thinks clearer when surrounded by people, but they are at their darkest when they are by themselves.
Your Dot can be either: Impulsive or Cautious, Flirty or Shy (active romance only), Charming or Stoic, Sarcastic or Genuine, Outgoing or Introverted, Courageous or Cowardly, Rude or Friendly, Cynicism or Idealism, Team worker or Solo
Choose your physical attributes: Sex, gender, pronouns, hair (color, texture, style, length), eye shape and color, skin, build, whether you wear glasses (or not, or contacts), your facial hair or lack thereof, height, clothing preference, tattoos, scars, and piercings!
Choose who you were in high school. Chapter 1 offers three starting points that will gradually branch out and become more specific. Dot is a character too, and they will develop with time.
Each past will shape the way the story is narrated too! A more artistic MC will see the world differently, and their own inner world will be portrayed differently. Who you were, who you are, who you will be: it all has an impact on how you behave.
Explore your (negative) feelings about how your life has turned out four years after you were forced to become the head of the family
Meet the demon who is your boss... *shudders* William
Meet Chrissy, your sister!
If you play your cards right (or not) you can even meet one of the other ROs earlier than you normally would.
Tumblr media
Seriously, thank you guys again for everything. If you ever want me to clarify anything about my satanic child or my characters I would be more than happy to answer, my ask thingy is open! Meanwhile, I will try my best to give you the best story I can give.
Probably going to update sometime in the near future to publish some moodboards that I made a while back. Just so you get the general vibe of each RO, a song that I think represents them and... the 'face claim' (plus Villanelle's birthday is coming up next week and I have something short and sweet prepared). Other than that... see you all in May!

hhhhhello hey hi !!!! I'm the podficcer that asked permission to podfic your ghost series and -- I had a strange question for the sangcheng one!!???? I keep thinking about nhs alive in 1920s NY speaking in some 1920s slang and I can't help but uhhhh picture him talking in a 1920s NY accent but is he FROM ny?!!!! 😂 a NY accent keeps popping up every time I read his lines out loud, and I'm not sure if that's weird, so I wanted to ask for some feedback!!!!
for jiangzaix3 I am finished recording the first two chapters and 2/3rds finished with the last chapter. I just have to edit in music! the accompanying Playlist is amazing! I also wanted to ask if you had any other additional songs or Playlist for the other three fics or if I should just pull from the one? I have an idea for which songs go with which stories -- jiangzai x3 has at least 3 songs lol bc there are too many good ones!
thanks again for granting permission! i am attempting to get these done, for spooky season is upon us, but I will try my best!
Hello, my dear! 💜💜💜 I'm so excited to hear your podfics--prior to getting into MDZS, the only person I'd ever heard read my own work was me, so between you and the person recording "this humble fox" I'm practically basking in the exciting novelty of it.
Anyway, that's not a strange question at all, it's a very good one! No, despite his tendency to hang out in fashionable areas of New York City when he was alive, Huaisang is not from New York, he's actually from New Hampshire. The Nies emigrated to the USA significantly before any of the other cultivation clans and initially settled down in the White Mountains, where they made quite a lot of money as trappers. They eventually opened up the butcher shop rather further south in the actual populated areas, and Huaisang attended a private school, so I think the most appropriate accent for him would be what's called a Mid-Atlantic. If you're unfamiliar, look up clips from Bringing Up Baby on YouTube--Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn are the shining examples of the early 20th century Mid-Atlantic accent, which was a very mannered, deliberate way of speaking. (The house Mingjue had built for him, the one into which Jiang Cheng eventually moves, is in Georgia, because Huaisang hates to be cold and loves to garden and placing him in Georgia meant the Jiangs could maybe keep an eye on him.)
The Yus, meanwhile, settled right outside Boston, in Newton, and Yu Ziyuan did her level best to instill her children with the value of speaking "properly," so Jiang Cheng speaks with...about half of a modern upper-class Boston accent, which shades into a more classic Southern when he relaxes, since he did grow up in Georgia. (The Southern accent gets noticeably more prominent when he's talking to/arguing with Wei Wuxian, who was born in Kentucky and spent the first seven or so years of his life learning to speak from Cangse Sanren and Wei Changze--Cangse had a thick accent, it was one of the things Yu Ziyuan disliked about her and her son after her.
As for music, the other three fics don't have specific playlists--"Jiangzai x3" was fully written in a sort of mad hallucinatory dash, and the playlist sprang up as part of that--but I do have general WangXian and XiYao playlists, if you'd like to look through those for inspiration, and of course all of the chapter titles for "Gimme Shelter" are themselves song titles. Unfortunately, I have sorely neglected Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang as far as playlists go, and I do need to remedy that. In the meantime, if it helps at all, Huaisang listened to a lot of jazz when he was alive--think Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, any luminary of the Harlem Renaissance who was recording before 1927--and loved to go out dancing. I'm honestly not sure what sort of music Jiang Cheng listens to, or if he habitually listens to much at all.
