Link in every lifetime really just be like:
"If someone I love (Zelda) is not actively missing, imprisoned somehow, or punching a demon, then I will be either eating, playing with my pets, or napping. However, if any of those are the case, I will fistfight a god and win so that I can see their smile again."
But he rarely talks enough to actually say it, so like maybe he just has this written on a sign hanging around his neck

Opera house AU, a few festive ideas;
Sun made Legend's baby blanket for his first Yuletide with her, Sky and Twilight. It has a pink bunny and Blupees on it
Flora's coveralls from Grandpa were a Yule gift from him because "Im proud of you" and she broke down crying because her dad never said that. She's joined him and Four's holiday tradition of "BBQ dinner in the bike shop garage with the local bikers" (they're the kind of gang like Bikers Against Child Abuse)
One Solstice, Malon invited Time to the family ranch. In return, he invited her to the Equinox with the Kokiri
When he's finally with Ilia, her and Twilight planned on a festive Ordon roundtrip. Bad weather delayed them a few days, nothing like surviving a blizzard together in a truck snowed-in on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere for romantic ambiance XD
Wind, Wars, Aryll and Linkle always make it to their Grandma's for the holidays. It's a rare time theyre all behaving
Dusk finds out Fable's her daughter and has that reunion in time for the solstice. Her first time with both her children since they were born and she's an emotional wreck (for all the right reasons though). At Legend's insistence, Sky and Sun were there too
Wild goes back to Hebra where he Shield Surfs with Selmie and Tulin
Hyrule volunteers at the soup kitchen he practically grew up in, spends every Yule there with his "Aunties" (the Great Fairies that run the place, they just started calling him their nephew when he was a kid)
Here for this!
The winter holidays are so much fun for the gang and after their traditional performance of A Christmas Carol, they all gathered in the backrooms for a holiday party before splitting off for the rest of the year to enjoy their own holidays.
Dusk and Hyrule are both new to the opera, and have no real family in town, but they got invitations from literally everyone to join them in their holiday festivities. Did this mean both of them took up Twilight's invitation this year? Yes, yes it does.
Flora is quickly falling in love with the gang, and they're quite willing to take her on as their second junior member (Four is the other one). The coveralls were well loved, and her first ever battle-jacket has been obtained as well! She is going to wear it everywhere <3
Sun ad Sky make new gifts every year. That blanket was the first, but there have been several more. My family has a tradition of wearing super long (waist length) stocking caps when we open presents, and Sun totally knit some of those for the holidays. Dusk got one this year too, although Legend knit it for her. She loves it. Sky made everyone new mugs. he's trying pottery out.
Hyrule volunteered around, and then managed to make it back in time for dinner with the Sutherlands (Twi and company). No worries, Ilia, Dusk, and Groose did the cooking, Twilight and the other two didn't do anything more than chop and mix where told. No damage was done and no food reanimated, and after gifts, Hyrule and Ledge fell asleep curled up together on the couch (covered with the blupee blanket).
Holidays in the islands were great, the postcards sent to the crew make everyone a little green. Wars and Wind come home with a ice new tan and Granny was so delighted to have everyone visit her for the holidays at her retirement home. She spent a good amount of time boasting to her new friends there about them. Wind is delighted to see all his cousins, and Aryll made a new friend with pretty red hair! Hogmanay was a little different in a beach community, but Wars and the girls had a lot of fun anyways, and Aryll and Wind had fun learning about their cousin's culture!
Wild has the most fun up in Hebra! He, Tulin and their dad all had the time of their lives. Their Hogmanay was delightful; Rito celebrate by flying from home to home rather than walking, when the weather is decent, and while Wild can paraglide, he also had some fun with shield surfing around with the other non-Rito neighbors in their rounds.
I'm going to say the Fable revelation was.....yeah. New Years in the opera is going to be fun >:)

okay @astral-catastrophe indulged us so here's an entire post about the warped timeline au! we're mostly going to talk about our links in this one! going from youngest to oldest! also @fwoosheye
Siren
Siren is WW, ST + PH link! they are 14. they're still a pirate, but they make more time to visit Aryll and their grandma back on Outset. They are banned from using the windwaker unless absolutely necessary because they're a complete riot of a child. They have a pet pig who is appropriately named Chunk. Aryll made them a bracelet which they wear 24/7! they're small, so they find squeezing into small areas much easier than most others. Has a peg leg
Prince
Prince is ALTTP, ALBW, OOS, OOA, LA + TFH link! he is 16 and is the twin of Queen, his zelda. he and his sister are working royals, so while he is a prince he is also a blacksmith! there is a permanent portal between Hyrule and Lorule in the castle garden, and Ravio still leeches off of lives with him! he's autistic and semi-verbal. he uses crutches to get around. Prince also splits into King, Duke, and Princess, but it only works in Hytopia. They're trying to sort out a way to do it without the wizard
Light
Light is FSA, FS + MC link. he is 17! He splits into Vio, Red, Green and Blue at will. For a good part of his time with the other links, he does not have a shadow, since Shadow died. He's kind of a roulette wheel in terms of how he acts, what he knows and what he can do; but it's easy to adapt to whatever his “mood” is any given day. He and his Zelda are very close, to the point they think of each other as siblings. Light has a minish feather on a necklace along with four charms that represent the colours. He lies a lot, and sometimes he doesn't even realize he's lying. Threatens people to get his way sometimes. Autistic + has ADHD. Blue has OCD and Vio has severe anxiety
Moon
Moon is TP link! his wolf form is much bigger than an average wolf, so it's obviously the result of magic. He's 27 and married to Shad. He mainly looks after the kids in Ordon, but still cares after the goats when he can. He has basically no relationship with his Zelda outside of being civil. He still has a bit of heartache relating to Midna but he's getting better. Basically everyone's parent
Courage
Courage is SS link! He's 28, and married to Wisdom, his Zelda. After killing Demise he gained some of his powers, but he really doesn't like to use them. He has a small fear of storms after what happened to Wisdom and he never really forgave himself for what happened to her. He still has her harp and he's extremely cautious about time since he really doesn't want to be late ever again. His loftwing is called Crime.
Sprout
Sprout is OOT + MM link. he's still got all the masks he got during mm, but his favorite is the deku mask. He's 30! He's in a platonic marriage with Malon, and they live on a farm together. He has a necklace with a blue fairy charm because he still misses Navi :( he likes just sitting in the woods and staring off into space just...doing nothing. it's a bit creepy. Likes to steal. Might be a kleptomaniac, he isn't sure. He has a lot of facial scars due to the overuse of the masks he'd obtained.
Warriors
Warriors is HW link. he's Linkles twin brother! He's 31, and dating Sheik <3 (his Zelda is a trans king tyvm). he basically adopted Sprout during the war and he basically became a single father at that point in life. He has to use a cane to walk and he has a fair amount of burn scars. He's retired but still gives his advice to training soldiers. living his best life. Proxi speaks for him as he is completely mute. he struggles to tell the difference between left and right and uses his hands to remind himself

Summary: What if the Links weren't born? What if they just... appeared one day?
Author's Note: This was inspired by some asks on @tortilla-of-courage's blog
(Read it on Ao3 Here)
~~~
Everyone on Skyloft had a profound bond with their loftwing. Everyone. They would trust their birds with their life, and more significantly, the lives of their children, if they had any. It wasn’t a rare sight to see your neighbor’s loftwing watching after their child, or to see a loftwing carrying a wayward child back home.
And, although Skyloft is a small island, not everyone knows each other.
So they can’t be blamed, really, that they didn't notice right away that all the loftwings on the island were playing hot potato with a small child.
They only really started to notice when the headmaster of the Knight’s academy found his loftwing looking after not just his own daughter, but a young boy as well.
Before he could question it, or pick up the boy, another loftwing swooped in, snatching the boy up by the back of his tunic. The toddler didn’t seem to mind, squealing in excitement as the bird took him up to the roof.
Gaepora still might not have thought anything about it, except that he knew for a fact that that loftwing’s rider had died a year ago. That’s why the bird was here. It was still mourning its partner, and it was better for it to be around other loftwings. The communal nests for the loftwings at the academy were perfect for that.
And, as far as he knew, the loftwing hadn’t picked a new rider. So whose child was that?
~
After a good two or three weeks of searching for the child’s parents and simultaneously trying to get the boy away from the loftwings, they were still empty-handed.
The search for the parents was futile. Nearly everyone on the island knew about the boy now, and most had even seen their own loftwings carrying the boy around. No parent had stepped forward.
On the other hand, no one could actually manage to get the kid away from the loftwings. It was rare for the birds to completely disobey their riders, but in this, they seemed resolute. The boy would be staying with the loftwings, at least for now.
Gaepora pinched the bridge of his nose, looking at his daughter, who was currently giggling with the yet unmanned boy on his own loftwings back. This boy was going to be nothing but trouble, he could already feel it.
~~~
The master smith of Castle town wasn’t a slouch at hand-to-hand combat. He had never been formally trained in the subject. But he was a smith. Being a smithy was very physically taxing. He may be getting on a bit in years, but he could still swing a hammer and withstand the blazing heat of the forge.
So when he entered his shop in the morning and heard rustling behind the counter he kept his lockbox behind, he did not run to call the town guards. They wouldn’t even get here in time, and Smith could deal with the thief by himself.
When he rounded the corner of the counter with a shout, what he found was not what he expected. Instead, he found a little kid. Really, he couldn't be more than two or three. Instead of the lock box, he had been rooting around in a jar of cookies that Smith kept in the shop for the rather common occasion he got the munchies in the middle of the day.
The child was watching him with wide eyes, his gaze not wavering. He had far too much of an intelligent gaze for a two year old who had literally gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Smith looked around, foolishly hoping that the child’s mother would pop out from behind one of the shelves to claim the him.
No such luck, of course. Cursing his bleeding heart, Smith picked up the child and, hanging a sign on the door to tell his customers he was closed for the day, made his way home.
~~~
The Great Deku Tree was very old. He liked to take naps, which sometimes ended up lasting months. And he forgot things sometimes.
But he was pretty sure he wasn't actually asleep for more than a few hours this time. And he was sure he would have remembered this.
There was a child laying between his roots. An infant, wrapped in swaddling clothes, nestled in a bed of fallen leaves.
The Tree didn’t recognize him.
He would know if this was a Kokiri child. It was not. This child was as Hylian as they came. And yet, somehow, he had ended up here. Deep in the lost woods, where no adult could reach. At the very least, the fairies or the Kokiris would have woken him if there had been an intruder.
The Tree took his time examining the child, looking for any clues to his origins. He found none.
After a while, the baby started to fuss. The Deku Tree hummed, calling for a fairy to go fetch Saria. She was a responsible young lass. She would make sure the boy was well looked after.
He stayed contemplating the child long after he had been taken away by the Kokiri. That child would be one to make note of.
~~~
They were calling him the Hero of the Wind, now. She had smiled when she heard that, but to her, he would always be Link. She gave him that name, after all. She had named him after the previous hero when she found him. There had been no mother in sight to give her a different name, after all.
She hadn’t known where the baby had come from. When she had gone on an early morning walk one day, it had led to her finding a woven basket with a wailing infant inside it, washed up on the shore.
No one on Outset Island had a child this young, or was even pregnant. But Hylia would be damned if she left the babe there. Besides, she was lonely. Her husband had died a few years back, and her daughter had left Outset, rarely visiting. She wouldn’t mind someone to share her house with.
There were rumors. Of course there were. Outset island was a calm and peaceful place, but that didn’t mean all the people there were kind. Suddenly acquiring a child out of nowhere was suspicious. People called her a witch behind her back, not so subtly accusing her of stealing the child.
She had claimed that her daughter had come back from sailing to give Link to his grandmother, but no one had actually seen the young woman do so, so there were always skeptics.
And there was indeed a good reason that no one had seen her come back. It was because the woman hadn’t. No one but Granny would ever know the truth of it, she had vowed to herself.
But, eventually, the excitement died down. Link was a sweet boy. And, well, he had his Granny’s nose, after all, and his mother’s bright golden hair.
(And a few years after that, when she found Aryll on her front porch, surrounded by seagulls, people said much the same about the little girl.)
~~~
The Hero of Legend had humble beginnings, just like most of his brethren. Before he had started his journeys, he had grown up on a farm, looked after by his uncle. In truth, though, said uncle had no relation to him at all.
The nearby village thought he was just an orphan.
It wasn’t unusual. Families were torn apart often these days, sometimes literally, meeting brutal ends at the hands of monsters. Many times, this left children to wander, with no one to care for them. Sometimes, families would take them in and care for them like they were their own.
It was a bit odd that Link's Uncle would do so, as he had no wife to help him in raising a child. But after all, he had no wife, and never showed any signs of looking for one. Perhaps he wanted someone to look after him as he grew older, or just someone to share his house with. It must get lonely, all by himself in that huge farm, so far from town.
In truth, he couldn’t have done anything else, except take the kid in. He had been sucked in by the big eyes set into the sweet face the first time he set eyes on the boy.
The boy never made any mention of his previous family. But, thought his uncle, that was probably normal. Whatever happened to him before he found his way here couldn’t have been pleasant.
It was probably normal not to want to speak of it. And besides, there were apples that needed to be picked, animals to be fed, grain to be cut. There would be time for talking later. For now, he would focus on teaching Link the proper way to hold a cucco without being mauled.
~~~
Legend had it that the Hero of Hyrule started his adventure in a cave. What the Legends don’t tell is that he also started his life in that cave.
In his era, monsters roamed nearly everywhere. There were a few exceptions. One of these was a small cave. It was hidden deep in a forest, and generally ignored by all who passed it. Most who saw it assumed it was too small to be a proper shelter for anyone.
It was this assumption that made it the perfect spot for its inhabitants to hide. A group of fairies had stumbled across the cave, and claimed it for their own. It was undisturbed by the bigger creatures of the world, and it was the perfect size for them.
It was deep in this cave, soaked in fae magic, that this group of fairies found a tiny child. Or more accurately, he found them. When he wiggled through the crack of the cave opening and saw them, he giggled, clapping his hands.
They were uncertain at first. What was a young hylian doing out here? It shouldn't be possible. Where had he even come from? He couldn’t have made it all the way out here by himself.
Being naturally helpful creatures, they tried to search for the small one’s parents, but came up empty-handed. All the while, the child played with the strands of magic they conjured to entertain him.
Fairies have a poor sense of time. They just kept searching for the child’s parents. They fed him when he was hungry, and sang him to sleep when he was tired. They didn’t even notice that the child was growing up.
~~~
Wolves are not a common animal to see in Ordon. Generally, they preferred to stay away from the village.
There were exceptions. If there was a harsh winter, wolf packs might approach the village, looking for the easy meals the goats presented. If a wolf was sick, they might wander closer in confusion as well.
So when Uli looked out the window, and saw a large golden wolf in the middle of the goat pen, she was understandably shocked. The wolf looked healthy. Its fur coat was glossy, and even from this distance, Uli could see muscles rippled under its coat when it moved. There was no sickness in this creature. It was the height of summer. The game in the forest should be plentiful. There was no real reason for it to go after her goats.
Looking closer, she could see that the wolf was standing over something, likely one of her goats. She cursed, gripping the bow from the mantle that they kept for situations just like this, and exited the house.
When the wolf saw that he was being approached, he calmly turned away. Moving at a quick pace, he left behind the prize he was guarding, and returned to the edge of the forest. When he reached the forest, he turned to look back at her. With what looked disturbingly like a nod, he disappeared into the woods.
After watching for a few moments to make sure the wolf wouldn’t return, Uli turned to inspect the damage to the herd.
Instead of finding a dead goat, she found a small bundle of blankets. Filled with curiosity, she knelt, moving the blankets aside cautiously. What she found was the last thing she thought she would.
A toddler, curled up and sleeping peacefully, as if they hadn’t just been two feet away from a wolf.
Well. What was she to do with this, then?
~~~
There is no record of the Hero of Warriors from before the War. Most people from his era assume that it’s because he came from a little town in the middle of nowhere. A farm boy, a nobody who crawled up the ranks to become a war hero, a captain.
In reality, the Hero of Warriors was a rather special case. He was made for war. He was a savior of his people, just like his brethren, but a child does not a warrior make. And a warrior is what was needed.
He strode into Hyrule castle, among the swarm of other young men who were reporting to the recruiters in the front hall. In the chaos, the one who greeted him neglected to ask where the young man was from, and Link did not offer the information.
From that point on, he was only called Link, with no surname on his record. Eventually, that became Commander Link, and then Captain Link.
No one ever questioned where he had come from. It was usually best not to think about those things too hard.
~~~
There was no one alive who remembered the Hero of the Wild’s origins. That was to be expected. It had been well over a century since he was born, after all.
The hero himself could not remember, and all those who had known him from before barely knew about his family.
The story of his birth was lost, or so it seemed.
The truth was that there was no story to be told. The hero’s family had been a small one. A knight who served in Hyrule’s military, his wife, and a little daughter. When the daughter had been born, the wife had nearly died. The doctor had warned them that another child would likely kill her.
So, though they dearly wanted a son to carry on their family’s name, and for his father to train him the way of the sword, they were content with their little girl.
Fate had other plans for them, though. One morning when the daughter was about a year old, they had just sat down for breakfast when there was a knock on the door.
The knight stood to answer the door. When he opened it, he did not find one of their neighbors, or a messenger from the castle, as he had expected, but a young boy, maybe five or six years old.
When asked what he needed, he simply said that he was their son.
He waltzed right in and plopped himself down at the table, pleased as punch with himself.
The knight and his wife looked at each other in amusement. This might as well happen. They could afford to feed an extra mouth for a meal or two. They could go look for the little one’s parents after they ate.
I was inspired by @tortilla-of-courage‘s blog talking about how the chain would react to babies and by @claybrownie7566‘s post about how each of the chain would be as dads (here.) Combining these two ideas: Here’s how I think the chain would be with littles as they are now.
Except- in a very specific situation where they’re visiting Ordon and Twi is very excited to introduce everyone to his little sister. (I think it would be cute if she’s still really little, like, top heavy, can lift head but still wobbly not crawling yet little. So between 4-6 months?)
Twilight excitedly introducing the chain to his little sister.
Time getting parenting tips and tricks from Uli and Rusl. (Time kinda has baby fever given how he and Malon would like to have their own one day. He wants to hold the little one and learn as much as he can while he’s there. How to change diapers, prep bottles, when to sleep. Practical stuff, ya know? (he absolutely gets urped on by the baby.))
Legend having his jewelry gnawed on (just the rounded pieces like his bracelet and simpler rings, and while he’s still wearing them.) I stand by that Legend is phenomenal with kids - even when he doesn't mean to be. It's just, Uli’s baby won't stop looking at him. She'll track him with her eyes whenever he's near and he's the best at getting her to smile. Unintentional baby whisperer. Hand Legend a crying baby and they'll stop just to stare at him. Legend is like, "why me?"
Hyrule making weird faces and earning little baby smiles and giggles.
Warriors doing the whole "here comes the airplane" bit with a spoonful of pumpkin mush, trying desperately to catch the dribbles before they get all over the baby's romper.
Four entertaining the baby with a mirror shield.
Wind lying on the grass on a blanket with the baby, just watching them awe at the world, completely enamored. (Wind though! I want to talk about Wind! You'd think Time would have it worse when wanting to hang out with the baby, but no, it's Wind. Wind is Obsessed! He's a couple years older than Aryll and maybe doesn't remember when she was really little but he's really fond of that time and of his sister. He's just a good big brother, okay? Uli asks if he wants to hold the baby and he's like, "Yes! ✨" Uli's had kids before. She's okay with everyone taking a turn holding the baby but Wind is even more protective than she is. "Wild you have to sit down! Be sure to support her head. Yeah like that!" The rest of the chain is helping with the chores around the village but Wind wants to stay and help watch the baby. He wants to be with her aaaaall the time. (and let her hold his finger, and play with her, and tell her stories, and make faces, and lie with her on the ground, just, he’s hopeless.))
Colin and Wind being a little competitive for the baby's attention. Colin with 'this is /my/ sister.' and Wind with 'gee I barely kinda remember when Aryll was this age aaaaa cute!!! *big brother instincts turned up to a thousand.* Drives Colin nuts. But then they figure out that they've got a lot in common and a friendship is forged over fiercely loving one's little sister so it's okay.
Sky dozing with the baby asleep on his arm.
Uli asking Wild if he'd like to hold the baby and Wild, scared to hold something so precious, inevitably relenting and being simply amazed at how tiny the baby's hands are.
Shaded version, flat-color version, ghost version(based on both Satori and Hero’s Shade), and scarred version. (from Guardian-based injuries)
I... cannot believe I actually managed to pull this one off. Wolf Link always seemed so impossible to draw, but I did it! Even though, I did end up making him bigger than he is in canon.
Gotta give Wild a big pupper to cuddle up to.
Does this mean I have no excuse for bad art anymore?
I have a couple of headcanons about these two as well.
But first...
Do not repost without getting my permission first. It really doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to simply go to my ask box or send me a private message and just ask.
Thank you.
Please, the OG version took me four whole days.
On to the headcanons!
Wolf Link: Twilight
Link: Botw
1: Probably a more popular one, (I think?) but Wolf Link is still the Link from Twilight Princess. After his (untimely/eventual/Eeehh?) death after the events of his game, he ended up sticking around as a guardian spirit. Somewhat like how Time was able to stick around to ease his regrets, albeit more voluntarily.
This is due to his protective nature shown in TP. He wanted to watch over Ordon and the people of Hyrule after his passing as well.
Every Link is protective in some way or form (Like Wind with Aryll, Time with the Triforce/Hyrule/Zelda, Sky with Zelda, even Wild with Zelda), but it seemed to be a more prominent and consistent theme in TP.
Twilight protecting the Ordonian kids all throughout the game whenever danger reared its ugly head, that’s how his entire adventure started in the first place. Twilight shielding Midna from Zant, Midna shielding Zelda from Ganondorf, Even Twilight being protected himself by Lanayru, the Resistance, and Midna in that order. (By Midna twice even!)
“Protection” is such a big theme in Twilight Princess. (Including the scene of Zelda choosing to surrender over the death of her knights and her people, everything revolves around protecting someone or something.)
So there you have it, long story short, Twilight is a protective guardian spirit.
2: Between TP and BOTW, Twilight spent most of his time in the woods of Hyrule, he’s very acquainted and trusted by the animals of the forest. Animals outside of the forest seem to take a quick liking to him as well, whether he’s a wolf or a Hylian.
3: Twilight knew of Wild’s birth and has checked up on him from time to time, never involving himself until Calamity Ganon’s return resulted in the death of the Champions and (nearly) Wild. Twilight stuck around on the Great Plateau, waiting for Wild to be resurrected. He’d felt the Calamity’s return, too.
4: Twilight acts like a guide to Wild, much like Time was to him, except he is present all (or most) the time. He is also Wild’s support, knowing the teen is going to be in a bad place after waking up with no memories and learning of the life and people he lost and the failures he blames on himself.
5: Having a big wolf to cuddle up to, Wild makes use of every opportunity to do so. He’s only a Hylian, after all. He sees a big floof, he gotta hug the big floof. It takes some getting used to, but Twilight lets him.
6: Twilight will scold Wild when he does anything reckless, but all Wild hears are angry borks, though he can definitely feel the disappointment. In the beginning, this often leads to Wild trying to appease him by giving him meat. It doesn’t work, but Wild tries.
7: Wild often has nightmares of a life he can’t remember, when they hit, Twilight will make sure to curl up around him to help him settle, it happens most of the time. Wild often ends up grabbing hold of him.
8: Twilight’s nickname for Wild is “Pup”. It is not a mocking nickname, but genuinely an endearing one. Wild’s feral innocence only convinces Twilight how fitting of a nickname it is. (Wild once caught a fish with his mouth) Wild simply refers to Twilight as “Wolf”. Should Twilight ever appear to him in human form, the nicknames would probably still stick.
9: Wild absolutely fills the Sheikah Slate with photos of the friendly wolf that has randomly decided to follow him around and be his friend.
10: Wild does eventually figure out on their travels that there is more to the wolf than meets the eye. He takes down enemies with relative ease and without fear, he knows battle strategies, he knows how to solve a difficult puzzle, he can read, ...
But the moment Wild found out his wolf was actually a spirit this entire time was the most heartbreaking. It happened on a certain night, in a certain place, when the wolf glows similarly to Satori, a similarly deceased Sage-turned-spirit-Lord of the Mountain.
With everyone he knew and love already having died 100 years prior to waking up, even though he has no memory of them, he still felt heartbroken with this discovery. Although, he does end up being glad to still have his wolf with him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably should stop at 10 headcanons. If I don’t, we’re gonna be here for hours.
I have some Botw!Zelda headcanons to fit in this (AU???) as well.
((Au where a Link of your choice still has their Aryll with them!))
to clarify, the links with arylls who are SAFE: wind, kind of engie but its a little different, and paint (but he didnt know about her until a while)
links with arylls who are, somehow compromised or dead: first, sky, mini, time, twilight, light, fantasy, and wild!
so. most of them.
but!! lets go with uhhh OH :) yeah : ) TWILIGHT.
an au where he gets to stay with his aryll would be.. the best thing ever. he’d still up in ordon village and taken in, but he’d live in that little tree house with aryll and they’d have... a wonderful life. she’d integrate herself in with the other ordon kids really well because she’s just like that and it would be great
it would take him a little longer to assert himself as big brother to the other ordon kids though, because he’d be significantly more focused on aryll in this au. but that also eventually happens.
when the actual events of the game take place, it’s probably aryll and colin who stick together while talo still runs off. aryll’s a pretty shy kid even if she is rambunctious, and past trauma’s taught her not to stray too far from link after all, so she’d probably be very insistent in tagging along with link to hyrule proper.
that being said, she’s also kidnapped. it’s probably just as stressful as main verse link, but he becomes.. very very overprotective. he’s probably a lot more aggressive in aryllverse than he is in mainverse. especially considering midna would pretend to be aryll instead of ilia in that one scene.
it takes a lot longer for midna to gain his trust after doing that.
but that’s about it!! i dont wanna make this post too long after all
pointless observations I’ve made about Link that most other people don’t seem to talk abt much
- Sky enjoys wood carving and even gave a carving to Zelda of her loftwing. You see wood carvings all over his room and one carving of the blue loftwing in Zelda’s room that was onviously done by him.
- Sky seems to have shorter than average ears than other hylians as well as the other Links
- Warrior just straight up literally wears eyeshadow
- Wind can speak english appreantly
- Wild has noticeable overbite. (noticeable to me anyways)
- Wild has abs but they’re like, abs that are just starting to develop. So they’re not super easy notice at first.
- Wild has really long eyelashes
- Time was freakin’ ripped as a little kid?
- Twilight’s hair color is really inconsistant for some reason.
- Sky and Hero (in Zelda II) have the chubbiest cheeks of all the teenage Links
- Warrior has the most unique nose shape
- Hero’s hair color is also pretty inconsistant
- Why is First so muscular in the manga? That literally makes no sense?? he should look like a freakin skeleton after being in a shitty prison for so long????
- Wild shows signs of having a very high motabolism
- Sky shows several symptoms of ADHD
- Time seems to be the most muscular of all the Links
- It’s sorta implied that Wild didn’t choose to become a knight and was actually forced? (assuming by his family) Which actually makes a lot of sense because it would parallel really well with Zelda’s childhood, and as we already know she felt she could relate to him.
- Toon Link in not just one incarnation of Link, he’s actually several different incarnations that just look very similar.
- Wind is not in Hyrule Warriors. That’s actually Spirit. EDIT: that actually is Wind because Aryll has speech text when you play as him, it’s toon Zelda who’s the one from Spirit Tracks (Tetra being the version of Zelda from WW)
- There’s an NPC in Tri-Force heroes who’s cosplaying as ALTTP Link, with the pink hair included.
- Hero’s Shade’s armor looks kinda impractical for battle. So that might actually just be some fancy funeral armor he was burried in, not what he actually wore into battle.
- Twilight has like... a bunch of boxes full of empty bottles in his house???
- Just what the hell is up with Twilight’s house in general.
- Twilight is the only Hylian in Ordon. Everyone else is a human.
- So far there are are three canon incarnations of Link that have not had their own games
- The incarnation that came before Wild may have been a gerudo. On the tapestry in BOTW Zelda still looks like most other Zeldas, But Link noticeably has long red hair and bigger nose, which are traits found in gerudos.
- IN THE FIRST NINTENDO POWER MAGAZINE WITH ZELDA COVER ART, HERO HAS A MULLET
Just Talking 5
Link and Zelda lay under the stars and talk. Nothing else happens. Not too serious.
Zelda: If evil took over, and you were born after the fact, but there was no clue at all that anything was wrong... like, if Ganon or Vaati took over and convinced the world they were good... would you still fight for what’s really right?
Link: . . .I don’t know. I rarely act out of “good and evil,” you know?
Link: It’s always been personal with me. What with Aryll getting kidnapped, you turning into stone, the kids and Illia in Ordon, the Deku Tree’s final wish... Hell, the first Link didn’t even do it to save the world, but to rescue his best friend.
Link: I mean... if Ganon and Vaati or Zant or whoever hurt my friends, “good guy” or not I’d definitely fight them. But that’s not exclusive to them, you know? I’d fight the “real” royal family for the people I care about if I had to. Hyrule has always been one corrupt lord, one bad king away from having me as their enemy.
Zelda: . . . What about me, Link? What . . . what if I was the bad guy?
Link: What? Nah, that can’t happen. I only fight for people I care about, and you fall into that category.
Zelda: But what if-
Link: Nope. Not gonna think about it.
Zelda: Link, this is a serious question!
Link: I don’t do dilemmas, Zelda!
Link: . . .
Link, muttering: (Leave that to the fanfic writers)
Zelda: What?
Link: Nothing.
what are your headcanon personalities for the 3d links?
OOOOOAAAAAAAHHH I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS!!!!!
I did post some of my headcanons in detail a long time ago but since I love talking about them it wouldn’t hurt to talk about them again. Fair warning though, this reply gets LONG.
SS: Basically a big cuddly bunny. Very sweet and affectionate. He’s always daydreaming and losing focus in class (mostly due to his ADHD). He’s also slept in every possible surface you can sleep on in Skyloft. And when he was younger Groose and the gang™ would even have a contests to see how many random objects they can place on and around him before he notices and wakes up (the highest record was 3 books, 10 sky stags, 30 small loftwing feathers, 7 eggs, 2 pot lids, 20 rupees, and a remlit). But there little contests eventually stopped when Zelda chewed Groose out for it. Speaking of Zelda, Link actually kinda enjoys how much she fusses over him. He likes having someone who looks after him, which could be partially because his parents died when he was very young so the only one who was every there to encourage him and make sure he didn’t get into any trouble was Zelda. Does Link have a crush on Zelda? Oh yes, ABSOLUTELY. But the kid has a tendency to be super oblivious to things sometimes and he can’t seem to figure out that Zelda likes him too. Almost all the other kids and even professors at the academy can see it (hence why Groose feels so threatened by him) but Link just seems completely oblivious to it all. He doesn’t even fully realize the full extent of his feelings for her until he has to save her from Gihrahim and The Imprisoned. Now as for his relationship with Groose, Groose was never the kind of bully who was brutal and beat Link up and try to torture him constantly. He and the gang™ would just throw some bad insults and pull mean pranks on Link from time to time. Even if he did want to be brutal he’d never have the guts to do it out of fear of Zelda getting upset at him. However there was ONE pretty bad incident where Link and Groose got in a big fight and Groose ended up giving him a bloody nose. (Groose did get suspended for a while after that.) However despite all this Link never really hated Groose, at most he just found him really annoying and irritating. But after the events the events that took place in Skyward Sword, Link and Groose actually became pretty good friends.Before Link went on his quest he didn’t think too highly of himself or think he was that special. All he felt like was some kid with barely passing grades trying to become a knight. He wanted to become partially to honor his parens who ere both knights and even met at the academy, and also because his grades at his old normal school were horrific and Knight Academy has easier academic classes (so like math, history, and english) but is seen as an acceptable alternative to normal school since being a knight is considered an honor. During his quest he began to mature a lot more. No matter how scared or exhausted he got he refused to give up because he knew Zelda needed him and the only way to ever see her again was to keep pushing on. His journey did get emotionally taxing at times but he did manage to pull through without losing himself. And he didn’t do it just because someone told him to, he did it to save the girl he loved. After Zelda was crowned as the first queen if Hyrule she did marry Link who then became the first king. When they were in their early to mid 20s they had some kiddos who Link absolutely spoiled rotten.
WW/PH: Weird awkward gremlin child. Doesn’t sleep quite as much as Sky did but he still sleeps quite a bit. Not the most socially inept Link and certainly was not the most confident Link when he started out his adventure. But his little sister Aryll looks up to him nonetheless. Although he was not anywhere near prepared for what he ended up getting thrown into on his 12th birthday he did always have some sense of adventure. He would often explore and play the forrest with his little sister. Growing up as the oldest child on the island, Link is used to playing and communicating with younger children. But unfortunately he also has a bit of a hard time socializing with children around his own age. All the other kids on outset island were like 4-8 years old, the only time he saw kids his age or older than him was on the rare occasion that a ship would stop by to restock IF it just so happened to have a family with children on board. The first kid his age he actually befriended was Tetra who is FAR from a normal child. At first Link was even quite intimidated by her until when eventually he got used to her shenanigans. Tetra did not like him AT ALL at first. Like Link, she never had much interaction with children her own age, but unlike Link, rather than growing up with nothing but younger kids, she grew up around nothing but adults and learned how to boss them around pretty well too. Link saw her as bossy and mean at first and Tetra saw him as kind of a pest who was just there to get in her way. But they did eventually warm up to each other and became close friends. They were an odd couple but somehow it worked out. Link never gave leaving Outset much thought until his sister was kidnapped. His original plan was to get her back as fast as possible and head back home. Buuut as we all know that didn’t work out as planned. Throughout his journey Link gained much more self confidence and wasn’t as easily intimidated by challenges. After the events of WW and after Tetra and the crew™ went out to find new land, Link wrote letters to home every day. He tried to keep his family updated on his adventures as much as he could. And years after the events of PH Link and Tetra did get married and became the rulers of New Hyrule. They had like… way too many kids…. Like… 10…. TEN CHILDREN. (4 of which they had before they were even married) The little gremlins could be absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to control at times but Link still adored them anyways. Link’s family came to the wedding. Grandma was still alive but very old and weak. If there was one last things she wanted to do it was to see her grandson as a full grown man with a family. Aryll was a grown woman and had a family of her own. And Linebeck was there too! And Grandma recognized him… and Linebeck recognizes her… she does not remember him fondly and starts threatening him… apparently he dated her daughter years ago and broke her heart, came back 4 years later, promised to marry her, and then fucked off again never to return…. Oh wait then this must mean…. oh shit… THE WEDDING RECEPTION HAS SUDDENLY BECOME VERY AWKWARD.
OoT/MM: Oh this one…. this one ain’t happy… Link was the only child in Kokiri Forrest who often dreamt of the outside world. When he set off on his quest he was cheerful excitable and ready to see new sights and meet new friends! He was a but scared of adults at first because up until then he had never seen an adult before (other than the Great Deku Tree that is). This carried into the part of his journey where he aged up 7 years. He still only had the mind of a young child so he still felt like he was on a fun adventure. But that did not last… he eventually became extremely traumatized, basically ripped away from his childhood and forced to grow up when he wasn’t ready. He had lost who he was before. When he was sent back to his childhood came back mature beyond his years but also traumatized. He could never be the same again. This only got worse in MM. He started to get angry more often, felt much older than other children his age. He could however, handle a lot more hardships than he could have in the past. He was not afraid to get up in people’s faces, he was not easy to intimidate, some monsters would even cower away in fear when they saw him. Despite how shockingly young he was he was able to give off an intimidating presence if he wanted to. After the events of MM he never really was able to find Navi, and it took him many years to find his way back to Hyrule. Along the way he ended up losing Epona in a battle. He was all alone. He NEEDED to make it back to Hyrule. During the events of OoT he did indeed end up falling in love with Zelda/Sheik and was hoping to ask her hand in marriage when he finally made it back to Hyrule. But when he finally did it was too late and Zelda was already married to someone else. He ended up marrying Malon instead and had children with her. He did love her very much, but there was always something deep inside that mad him yearn for his soulmate. Malon did notice this but decided never to bring it up. But even though Link never became the prince of Hyrule he was able to get a position as a high ranking Knight. One night before Link set off to battle, he felt in his gut something bad was going to happen. So did Zelda. They tried to convince themselves it was just nervousness but deep down they knew something was going to happen. So for that one night, the two let themselves give in to their feelings and they kissed. Just once before he left.Link never returned from the battle.
TP: He looks stern at first glance but he’s really quite gentile and kindhearted. He has a great love for animals, is very good with kids, and probably unironically uses the word “ya’ll'id’ve”.Teenage girls go absolutely crazy over him but he’s not too interested in dating or girls. He’s kind of a chill dude actually. Unlike Sky Link, he can focus on things easily and is very good at completing the task on hand quickly. He’s also nice to talk to because he’s a very good listener and never interrupts or speaks over people. He has very good manners for a boy his age. As for where Link came from, no one really knows…. Hanch and Jaggle just sorta found him wandering around aimlessly in the forest as a toddler and all the villagers in Ordon made it a group effort to raise him. There were some blod stains on his clothing when he was found that did not come from him, suggesting that his original caretakers were killed by monsters (who were most likely really after Link because of his triforce birthmark). He was never really around other Hylians growing up, so Zelda was the first Hylian he ever met, or at leasts remembers meeting. Link found Midna a bit irritating at first because of all the teasing but after a while he would start to playfully smart mouth her back and the two started to make it into this sort of game of who could come up with the best sassy comebacks. Before his journey Link never felt like he had a big purpose or anything like that. He didn’t even know that the triforce birthmark he had meant anything. He was raised by humans with human culture and legends, not Hylian culture. So he sure had a lot to learn. When he discovered that he was the hero of legend it was all a bit overwhelming. But he did it anyways. He wanted to make sure his friends were okay more than anything. After the events of TP Link stayed in Hyrule and became a knight. When he got older he started to fancy the (now queen) Zelda who he had become good friends with over the years. Unfortunately… he didn’t live long enough to propose to her. He died at the age of 20 of a serious infection from a poison arrow that went unnoticed. When he was still ill but knew he wouldn’t make it he requested to be brought back to Ordon so he could pass away at home, and he stayed in his wolf form the entire time so his friends would not be able to see how much he was really suffering. Zelda insisted to be at his side. She had a great respect for him and he was a good friend. She never fully knew how he felt about her, but the final look Link had given her when he looked into her eyes for the last time was a look of pure love. There is a legend that says each time the hero or princess dies they can see all of their past live’s memories in their final moments…
BOTW: Can be shy, very quiet, but incredibly sweet. Like Sky Link, this Link has ADHD. Except instead of not being able to focus, he has the type of ADHD that makes him VERY VERY HYPER. As a young child it was hard to keep him from climbing over and running over everything. And on top of all that he has incredibly high energy levels. He very reckless as a little kid but he saw it all as just fun and games. He would laugh, giggle a lot, and even speak loudly. But it all changed when his father started to train him as a knight… Most would assume Link chose this path. People think he did it because he wanted to be like his father. But truth be told, his relationship with his father was actually cold, controlling, and emotionally draining. Link’s father made him dedicate all his time to training. He was no longer allowed to play with the other children because his father wanted to discourage childish things like playing. He was deprived most of his childhood. He did however, become an exceptional knight. And he learned how to control his hyperactive tendencies. But he also developed high levels of anxiety. He was used to being severely punished if he slipped up so he made sure to try his best to never show what he was feeling or thinking when on the job. And when he found out he was the hero of legend his anxiety got all the worse. He couldn’t even speak anymore he was so terrified of making a mistake. He became selectively mute and only spoke around close friends like Mipha, or when someone who has a higher level of authority asked him a question, speaking in a very soft, quiet, and sometimes even difficult to hear voice. (this didn’t stop him from muttering smartass remarks @ Revali under his breath from time to time though)When he was assigned to be Zelda’s knight it changed his world. He was surprised how much he could relate to her, he LOVED listening to her ramble on and on about her interests, and every time she smiled it made him briefly forget all of his anxieties. However, fearing that he may say something he regrets, he rarely spoke to her. So all he could do was be there next to her, silently falling more and more in love. Eventually Zelda did get him to open up more and although he was shy at first he did greatly enjoy speaking with her. They related to each other a lot and felt an instant connection.After Link awoke from the shrine of resurrection, he did not remember anything of his past, including his father. So he no longer felt too much of a pressure to hide his emotions so much. He did however, carry on some habbits he had from back then. Things like rarely speaking unless spoken too and some of his anxiety issues stayed. When he regained all his memories of Zelda he remembered how in love he was. The emotions would hit him hard. And gave him more the reason to want to save her. On his quest he showed a lot of his old personality traits that he used to show when he was younger. Being a lot more cheerful, very friendly, and just wanting to run around and go on adventures. He also eats. A LOT. And this kid will literally eat anything (except live frogs). He’s literally cooked a pile of rocks before and he STILL ate it. He’s trained himself to be quite the chef even though not all the dishes always end up great (hence the rocks). Link also likes animals similar to Twilight Link. He is especially fond of horses. He’s one of those people who has this strange ability to calm down horses a lot more quickly than most people. Even though Link can hide his emotions there is one thing he can’t hide. And thats blushing. When he blushes his face and ears get very red and it is noticeable. And he blushed so much around Zelda that she just assumed that’s what he normally looked like. After the events of BOTW Link did eventually reagin the rest of his memories piece by piece. Some memories he was happy to remember, and others would sometimes make him an emotional sobbing mess and Zelda would have to stay up all night comforting him. When Link and Zelda finally revealed their true feelings for each other Zelda almost immediately wanted to ask for Link’s hand in marriage but she stopped herself out of fear of overwhelming him. So she waited to ask him a year later. They decided to start a family soon and to have many children because the Yiga clan was still out there and would not hesitate to kill Zelda given the chance, ending the Goddess’s bloodline. Having many children would be kind of like insurance. If one of them gets slain there will still be others left to continue the bloodline. A morbid thought that Link and Zelda did not like to think about but it was true. They ended up parenting 11 of their own children and 2 that Link adopted on impulse because he has a huge soft spot for kids and Zelda of course could not refuse. (yes know that’s more kids than Wind Link had but at least these ones were PLANNED).Link and Zelda made sure to give them the childhoods that they never had. Link made damn sure that he did NOT raise them like his father raised him. He did teach them how to climb, shoot arrows, and basic sword combat for survival reasons but he did his best to never force anything onto them. And surprisingly, the kids were usually well behaved (much unlike Wind Link’s kids). This could be because Link has a very calming presence around people. People no matter what age seem to be much more at ease when he’s around, especially Zelda.
