ok i'm going to use this as an opportunity to make a general fic rec list for doctor who bc i haven't done something like this in a while and i think it'd be fun. (i'm going to include the s3 ten and martha fics i linked before bc they are some of my favorites and i won't shut up about them)
Sometimes There's Stars by Monarchetype. this is probably my favorite doctor who fic ever in that it appeals directly to my twelve feels and fourteen feels and makes me feel the entire spectrum of human emotion bc of it. the doctor is having neurodivergent floor time in this one. donna has some funny names for the constellations. i cry every single time i read this
History by NikaV. this fic is special to me it's actually the first one i read as i was warily perusing doctor who fics after watching series 3 (i had donna's tag blocked for spoilers LMAO) and god it's soooo. it's sooooo. tenmartha museum fic you'll always be famous. stories that worldbuild about the aftereffects of the timewar my beloved. early s3 martha pov my beloved.
The Ravelled Sleeve of Care by lavenderseaslug. this basically follows ten and donna after their various series 4 adventures. they share a bunk bed. theyre my little guys. the qpps ever
Lethologica by babybel. this is a fic of jenny meeting with donna post-series 4 and yes it's exactly as shrimp emotion inducing as it sounds
Ten Minutes Of Eternity by EldunariLiduen. technically you have to listen to the time reaver big finish audio (...:)) to get the full context for this but it is such a great missing scene and actually can i please have more fics about time reaver it makes me want to explode

Aro/Ace Twelve by lloydsglasses (series). exactly what it says on the tin. i have not found a lot of twelve fics that appealed to my specific tastes but these ones are really sweet and as an aroace doctor truther i am legally obligated to recommend them <2
At the Edge of the Universe by IllusionOfDeath (series). this is a pair of canon compliant donna character studies in the 60th and ohhhhhh the fourteendonna huh. The fourteendonna broke into my house and left me for dead. AhhhhhHHHHHHH
The Last Act of the Time War is..., Three Months, Subjective Time, and Human-Shaped by versaphile. these three fics are great and i have many feelings about them that can all essentially be boiled down to "jesus christ ten is doing so bad. he's doing so so bad you guys. good lord"
doctor who oneshots by inckpot (series). i tried to pick out my favorites out of these to specifically recommend but it ended up being almost all of them and they are all organized into a beautiful list already so <3. also i don't rly ship ten w anybody but the tensimm and tenjack here fascinate me. they are like diseased bugs of some sort and i'm studying them in a lab. anyway i think op has my favorite general portrayal of timelords in fics ever like there's a line in respite about "carrying the stars" and this generally makes me want to eat drywall and explode into 80 million tiny pieces of glass. the way the doctor's pov gets written. oh yeah. i'm insane

Oh boy, I hope you're ready for some older fics because I have legitimately not read anything in months. These also aren't my top fics because there's just SO MUCH GOOD STUFF out there, look I know it's an older fandom but you gotta dig back because we have so many gems in this fandom and so many authors who blessed us with their writing.
STARTING OFF STRONG WITH:
Incarcerus by @qqueenofhades - Vampire AU, honestly breathtaking in scope and thought and just overall mastery of words. Everyone is seen to with the utmost care, be ready to cry at several points throughout for various and sundry reasons
In general, anything by AlexadraLyman. There's a lot of unfinished longfic but it's the kind where you're like "I'm just so glad I read what you've given, because it's amazing and I can use my imagination for the rest if you never do come back to these". It doesn't look like Beyond the Horizon is on AO3 but it's still up on FF.Net and all of those fics/side fics are also worth your time in the most wonderful way.
Beastly by xHookedonKillianx - I'm biased because I beta'd this during the CSSNS it was written for, but this was just so much fun.
Poem Without Words by @totheendoftheworldortime - another author whose other works I would also recommend, especially Heart by Heart. This and HbH just catch my imagination in lovely ways (outside of all the smut)
Lethologica by @lifeinahole27 - it makes me cry. It also makes me really fucking hungry. The DETAIL ABOUT FOOD THAT IS PROVIDED HERE IS UNFAIR. Also literally everything else Sar's written
Parcheesi by @unfolded73 - look, I'm nothing if not a slut for Lieutenant Duckling but this is one of the sweet spots for it. Also, again, literally anything by this author, she was one of our more prolific latecomers to CS fandom and we love her for it

This is the word you can use when you know you’re looking for your left something-or-other that goes on your foot but is not a sock, it’s a … (shoe?).
Lethonomia is “the inability to recall the right name.”
This is the word you can use about that actress in the Netflix show who you know you’ve seen in a few movies over the years. You’d tell your friends all about her … if only you could recall her moniker!
Both lethonomia and lethologica derive from the river Lethe in Hades in Greek mythology. The river was thought to cause oblivion or forgetfulness of the past.

One-Word Prompts
Recently, I’ve been really liking the idea of one-word prompts, so here are some that I’ve seen and/or thought of that I liked:
Alembic - anything that transforms, purifies, or refines.
Alluvion - a gradual increase of land on a shore or a river bank by the action of water, whether from natural or artificial causes.
Arboreal - Of or relating to trees; treelike
Bel-esprit - a person of great wit or intellect.
Cause celebre - any controversy that attracts great public attention.
Cordate - heart-shaped.
Eidetic - of, relating to, or constituting visual imagery vividly experienced and readily reproducible with great accuracy and in great detail.
Fantast - A visionary or dreamer
Flocculent - like a clump or tuft of wool.
Paraselene - a bright moonlike spot on a lunar halo; a mock moon.
Lethologica - When you can’t think of the word for something
Mellifluous - A sound that’s pleasing and sweet to hear
Apricity - The warmth of the sun in winter
Retrouvailles - The happiness of meeting again after a long time of being apart
Antediluvian - very old, old-fashioned, or out of date; antiquated
Beneficence - the doing of good; active goodness or kindness; charity
Cryptomnesia - the phenomenon of not recognizing the return of an old memory as a product of memory, but instead regarding it as a new or original thought or idea.
Cupidity - Eager or excessive desire, especially to possess something; greed.

Girandole - A rotating and radiating firework

Jocular - given to, characterized by, intended for, or suited to be joking or jesting
Lachrymose - suggestive of or tending to cause tears; mournful
Limerence - the state of being obsessively infatuated with someone, usually accompanied by delusions of or a desire for an intense romantic relationship with that person.
Lunisolar - Pertaining to or based upon the relations or joint action of the moon and the sun
Meritocracy - A system in which a person’s progress is based on ability and talent rather than class privilege and wealth.
Neophyte - A beginner of novice
Nescience - Lack of knowledge; ignorance
Proceleusmatic - Inciting, animating, or inspiring
Pulchritudinous - Physically beautiful; comely
Qiviut - the soft, dense, light-brown woolly undercoat of the musk ox, used in making fabrics.
Sartorial - Of or relating to clothing or style or manner of dress
Satori - Sudden enlightenment
Saudade - A deep emotional state of melancholic longing for a person or thing that is absent
Sumpsimus - Adherence to or persistent in using a strictly correct term, holding to a precise practice, etc., as a rejection of an erroneous but more common form.
Sweven - A vision; dream
Tohubohu - Chaos, disorder, confusion
Uitwaaien - the Dutch practice of jogging or walking into the wind, especially in the winter, for the purpose of feeling invigorated while relieving stress and boosting one’s general health.
Vernal - Of or relating to Spring
Vibrissa - one of the stiff, bristly hairs growing about the mouth of certain animals, as a whisker of a cat.
Zeitgeist - The spirit of the time; general trend of thought or feeling characteristic of a particular period of time
Amity - friendship; peaceful harmony.
Gazeetter - a geographical dictionary
Anamnesis - the recollection or remembrance of the past; reminiscence.
Ginkgo - a large shade tree native to China, having fan-shaped leaves and fleshy seeds with edible kernels.
