I think I've put this in something before but its been a minute so, imma ask for hcs anyways

During the summer riddle is on a family cruise and is getting really tired of his mom's bs, so he's sneakily texting his bf GC all the drama

When riddles mom leave to go to the bathroom, eel Fliyd grabs riddles sleeve and pulls him into the water (he uses magic so riddle doesn't drown or anything lol)

And they swim to a beach nearby where a handful of the other bois are waiting to spend a summer break with riddle while riddles mom panics that her sun is missing

Hcs?

OKAY I love this prompt! It's so cute and PERFECT for Riddle and I made a playlist for this idea!

And I'll add onto the songs for certain ships lol!

Riddle, as mentioned, was very board out of his mind with his mother's "very important business cruise" he was forced to attend thanks to a little thing called "reputation".

Upset and tired, he fished into his jean pockets and found his cellphone and began to text to a specific contact of "Eel Breath" about the party

Curious after a few minutes he puts his phone away and watched as his mother left the dock area, leaving him alone to the sea air

Then a strange splashing sound grabs his attention

Before he could possibly process the sound he felt a pair of strong hands grab him and the cold water wrapped around his form.

Grey eyes snap open at the feeling of cold soft lips on his to see Floyd clinging to him under the ocean waves in her merform. As the merman pulls away, the dorm head was shocked to find himself breathing fine under the ocean and a small bitter flavor on his tongue.

The two swam fast across the ocean waves, Riddle stuck in awe of the view and feeling around him and the feeling of Floyd's scales across his hands

After a few minutes they made it to a island a bit far from the cruise's way and many shadows on the shore helping them up

The sun was perfect for this plan as the gang spent a whole

I'm talking plenty of fun under the sun beams even Idia and Rollo enjoyed, lots of refreshing drinks and treats to cool off to, cute romantic stuff perfect for social media and private

At one point while Riddle swam back first across the ocean in his little colorful strawberry printed swim floaty he felt the urge to look down. Once he did he was too late to catch on on Floyd swimming from under him and grabbing onto him while squeezing into the floating with him

The two laugh until they realize they're both now stuck

Idia got all creamed up from sun screen and prepped Lilia and Riddle happily with it

Rook, Floyd, Jade, Leona, Jack, and Lilia happily caught some fish and crabs for the lovers

After some hours of the beach the group head to the cars and Leona started to drive car one while Rook drove car two, both having a phone/tablet on a video call to keep to update of the rest of them as they drive

The ride was calming on Riddle's part, eyes on the window happily listening to the voices of those so important to him.

Then-

"Oh hold up I love this song!" Shouted Cater from behind Riddle's seat

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand cue Cater starting to sing along to the song on the radio, with Neige and Kalim and Lilia joining in first, then Vil and surprising the most Riddle. Then everyone besides Trey and Rollo and Leona and Jack singing along loudly at the song, some goofy others really trying, Idia didn't join in either but recorded with Azul also quiet and laughing with a silent Jade

Riddle singing to a beach hair brush was the highlight

The first stop of the after-beach fun vacation was the Shaftlands and they did in fact spent the first half of the drop by window shopping and Kalim, Leona, Malleus, and Vil spoiling Riddle and everyone else with items

Then hunger hits them all rather hard. They were ignoring it until hearing Riddle's stomach growl

They went on some voting back and forths with dietary stuff for Vil, Rollo, Jack, and certain food restriction for Jamil and Kalim, and just straight different taste in foods until Riddle sighed, "How about we find three places, different, three groups will go to the three and we come back and eat together?"

So they did just that and met at the city's center happily with verities of food of fast food to sweets to healthy stuff and even gourmet after Malleus convinced Rollo to order a fucking spaghettis set instead of a single croissant and he paid for it

As the gang chilled by the fountain and ate their meals, more cute couple happened from selfies and snuggles and shared drinks

Ace, Riddle, Idia, and Neige shared a strawberry milkshake and all the rest were just melting in love

Kalim dipped his fries in Riddle's shake and did that couple thing of feeding the other by handing it with his teeth

Also this happened between Chenya and Neige-

Lots of brave kisses of Riddle happened this moment with him crashing his lips onto Deuce clumsily, sneaking kisses on Jade's temple and Azul's knuckles, and of course some goofy romantic shit happened

The gang chilled at town more after eating with Cater, Neige, and Vil posting on their socials and some booze swapped across everyone thanks to Arie's daddy's card ;)

The cars were left alone during the night and Riddle, again being brave, thanked Floyd for picking him up in the back seat while everyone's busy having fun to notice the two were missing

Riddle sung this while hangout out at a beach bonfire made by everyone as the night drove to the end

Lots of cuddles and kisses swapped as he laid on the sand and towels of the well prepared Trey

The next morning they all went to Epel's family's home and pluck some apples and drank some iced tea and had apple pie and vanilla ice cream and relax

Next stop was Flur City and they also chilled and met up with Giles and Amyir who caught up on cuddles and love for the red head

They knew well Riddle's mum was going to take serious action looking for him so they bid goodbye while Riddle called his mum and said he got home safely.

But Chenya stayed until Riddle fell asleep safe and snuck out on his own

The gang, before arriving to their own vacations and schedules, sent Riddle a bunch of sweets and get well items before they left and video called him every night before the final week of break ended and Riddle was eager to hurry back to Night Raven Collage

Hi, I’m back with more ranting, because I hyper fixated on cryptids and mythological creatures for two years straight and now have so many Ideas for your MH x Twst au, starting with sebek, I don’t really like him so I don’t have many thoughts for him, but him being a bobo is funny to me purely because of its name and it suits him because it’s (mainly) drawn as a werd cross over between a dolphin and a alligator.

Now for Leona I think him being the Santer lines up surprisingly well with ruggie dodging photos in this au (not at all related to what I think Leona could be, did you know there is a cactus cat cryptid?)

Malleus has a very obvious out for what he could be, but I’ve decided a regular dragon is too boring, so I have two ideas for him, one being the Jersey devil and the other being a cockitrice which fits malleus because you can’t look them in the eye (also not at all a dragon, but being a thunderbird also fits malleus)

you said you were struggling with all of octavinelle and I already gave you my thoughts on azul, (also didn’t add this on my earlier rant, Nigen azul makes sense too) so have my ideas for the twins my first idea (and my favorite) is the twins being the storsjöodjuret or the abaia (personally I don’t think the abaia fits well, aside from being an eel, as it’s more a protector than anything while the storsjöodjurent is a lake monster)

last character in this rant, lilia as a skin walker, or the smiling man makes so much sense to me I refuse to let it go (Neither are practically malicious, they either shapeshift or just effect uncanny valley after you meet them)

I loved finding out about the bobo and the cactus cat, the best little guys I've seen all day fr, AND IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN the cockitrice is that one mean chicken from that one mlp episode? That's how I recognized it anyway KDNWKSN

Those are such cool creatures! I'm not sure if I would assign specific ones to aaaall the characters, but just knowing those exist now already gives me ideas for design and hcs! 💃

A/N

I was originally going to make this a multi-character fanfic but I realized with my dyslexia it's easier for me to only write for one character. I picked Leona because I find comfort in him so it's a bit of a self-insert/vent fanfic of how I would feel if I was yuu.

Downpour

It was raining cats and dogs, you ran fast trying not to trip and fall from the slick ground. You decided your best chance is to run to the botanical garden since it was close by, you turn left and blotted towards the door of the garden.

Catching your breath, you look around to see the rain hit the dome of the gardens, it was beautiful and peaceful. Walking you think about what earlier, you and Crowley got into a disagreement, the showers were getting less hot from the boiler being ancient and your flip phone was cutting off all the Time, so you went to Crowley to ask for an upgrade. He then called you ungrateful and that you should be more understanding on how hard he is working to get you home, that you should realize that your stuff cost school money, and that you could have been on the streets if it wasn't for his kindness... You were tried, very tried. Not just from the argument you had with Crowley but everything, school, tasks from Crowley, ramshackle falling apart, over lots, being belittled for not having magic, etc... You were depressed, you felt alone and felt that nobody truly had your back, even grim sometimes.

You continued to walk around the garden when you spotted a certain someone's tail, it was Leona's. There he lay asleep, peacefully snoring, you stared for a minute before you decide to sit next to him so you could have some company while doing your homework. As you were doing your work you couldn't stop crying a little, tears fell and hit your paper and you sniffle causing the lion next to you to stir in his sleep. you got startled by it, you thought you awakened the lion, you started to hypervalent, you didn't want to cause your hyperventilation to fasten, you started to cry from it, you were freaking out, you were having a panic attack. Just then the lion next to you arose, however, you didn't notice he did.

"Are you crying?", "huh?" you froze, you thought you just made another person mad at you. "are you crying?" he repeated, "i- a no, no I'm not," you said in a panic. "yes you are I can see it, you have tear stains on your homework" "I'm fine, it's just allergy" "no it's not your having a panic attack, your heart is racing and your shaking like a leaf" "i-" you couldn't get any words out, your panicking started to worsen. Leona shifted his body he was now close to you, he looked into your eyes "tell me" you stared into his eyes stunned, you could believe it, leona king scholar was considered for you, generally considered! He was the first person that saw your true discomfort. Taking a deep breath you began to speak.

"i-i, sorry" you took another deep breath to get rid of the frog in your throat, talking about feelings was hard for you, you never really talked to anyone about them in your life, and you mostly found ways to overcome your feelings. "so?" "did you and grim get in a fight?" looking back up to leona you said "no, no I and grim are fine, we didn't get into an argument, actually me and that damn bird did" you huffed. "what did that bird do to you to be all worked up?" your tears started again, just thinking about it was tough. "he called me ungrateful! I just went to him because my water was not getting hot and my phone is a busted piece of crap, then he called me ungrateful, and that he had to spend school money to get me those things. He also said he cant solve every lotion of mine since he's already trying to solve how to get me home!" your voice was now horses from your ranting, but you didn't feel better from it. "your not ungrateful herb- uh y/n" you bit your lip and looked away "maybe I am, tho.. Like I could have been in the streets, if it wasn't for Crowley" "no your not! Stop saying dumb things" "im sorry" you mumbled. Still crying you turned back to leona he look serious, a different kind of serious unlike usual. "I can tell you have more to say, this isn't all that's troubling you, go on spill" "that's true there is more.." "well?"

You fiddled around trying to calm down, you knew if you didn't you would sob. You tried to take several deep breaths but you were still shaking so you decided to spill, "im tried!" "im tried of everything!" "im tried of this school, of living in ramshackle, of overblots" you shaking sobbed taking a deep breath you begin to speak again "im tried of always being called hero from saving people from overblots!" "i-i- IM TRIED OF LIVING!" you shouted, "im tried of life, I want to disappear for good, I don't want to be here" you wiped your tears away but they were like a river, sniffling you squeezed you risk to stop you from panicking. You then looked up at leona, you thought you said to much but his eyes were soft, he then spoke "your feelings are valid, you shouldn't have to be going though this, you didn't choose to" he then stood putting his hand out for you, you reached it and he pulled you up into a hug, leona kingscholar was hugging you! You felt relief flow through you, all your worriedness left your body, you felt peace. Leona the pulled way "if anything is troubling you come to me first okay, I'll help you resolve it" "thank you leona" you smiled. He then pulled your hand to make you follow him "the run stopped lets get something to eat, I'll pay."

Later that week you had a better phone and your plumbing was fixed, all thanks to Leona, you felt grateful. You have to now had protect you, you don't have to worry now. Leona and you also stared to hang out more, eating lunch and sitting in the garden.

I hope you liked it! I tried to write it on how I thought leona would actually acted in a situation like this, I want to have him pull you down to nap with him but I don't this he's the type to do that unless you were dating. I also know Leona is canonly protecful and keeps his eye out on others, he doesn't say it but he shown sides of it.

Okay, so I'm late to the party but I finally started reading the official Twisted Wonderland novel I bought a while ago because I heard that Leona makes quite the appearance, and thanks to the Book☆Walker app's translation support I was able to finish reading that short intro? prologue of a prologue? part.

And now I am sitting alone in stunned silence. Like wtf?????

We're starting this story with that tutorial battle with Grim-look-a-like-chimera beast??? And the protagonist/Yuuya literally heard Crowley's ominous monologue in their head???

What is the meaning of this???

Is this just a creative freedom by the novel author or does it mean that Yuu/MC from the game were meant to hear that part too???

I totally thought Crowley was just talking by himself while watching the event unfold from afar (probably through the mirror) acting all mysterious and shit. But he was actually talking to Yuu/MC/Us????? Really????

I'm gonna break something if the game doesn't explain Crowley's monologue at some point for sure.

Anon, please take care not to misinform others about different cultures. The way the other anon was using the term Skin Walker in the context of Leona I'm guessing has no correlation or connection to the Navajo mythology or any such First Nation myths. Even if they were specifically using the myths, the mythology of those stories only applies to those who are part of the relevant nation groups and not to those outside them.

It is more like Tolkien's skin changer where they “freely walk in the skin of other men” and not in relation to the Navajo mythology.

That was the hope! In terms of using the Skin Changer attributes! I did do a fair bit of research on both, because I knew what I wanted him to be/his abilities but wasn't sure which term would fit best. And the Skin Walker information I was able to find didn't really match, so Tolkien's Skin Changers (like Beorn) was the aim. But yes. Thank you -- I'm glad that came across. That was also where a bit of my confusion/perplexion at that ask was stemming from, because they are very different things

EXTRA SCENES

A/N: so remember when i said extra something for those of you who didn’t want to say goodbye to riley and drake? here it is! i hope you’ll enjoy! everything takes place after the last chapter but before the epilogue.

SCENE #1

Drake was walking back to their bedroom from his trip to the kitchen when he heard her. Normal people, he thought, just took showers. Some people sang in the shower - heard of that but never thought twice about it, neither he, nor his mom, Savannah, Leona or even Riley did that. But he never heard that.

Riley was talking. No, not even talking. She was arguing.

“No! You will not have the last word! You think I messed up! Now look at you, Leona! I’m back and you’re not! That’s exactly–” Drake heard her gasp. “How dare you interrupt me? I might not be a Duchess and I don’t have the power to throw you in a dungeon anymore but I know the King. Yes, that’s right! And what’s more, Mary-Anne is here! Ha!”

Drake walked into the bedroom but Riley’s phone was still there, on their bedside table. Which meant she wasn’t talking on the phone. Which meant his wife was going insane. He went back to eavesdrop.

“You ruined his life! I’m his family, he’ll always pick ME!” Riley mimicked Leona’s voice, which, as Drake noticed, sounded nothing like his aunt. “I am his family now, too, Leona! And I will not let you come between us ever again.”

Drake nodded, absorbed in the fake argument Riley was having.

“I will make everyone hate you! You’re nothing! You left him once and you’ll do it again!” Drake heard a noise as if someone smacked somebody. “Did you just slap me?”

“No one is talking about me like this! I know your mind games Leona and they will not work!”

“Eh… Okay then. I see you’re stronger than I thought.”

“Don’t worry Leona, I’m a good person. I will not hate you! And now I’m leaving you because I have the pastry awards to go to. Yes, Leona. I got a job in Cordonia and now they’re awarding me the best baker award. You didn’t see that coming, did ya?”

“You’re too talented and too nice to compare.”

“Mrs Walker!” Drake heard Riley change her voice again. This time it was thick and low. “We’d like to award you with this super prestigious award for the best cupcake this world has ever seen.”

“Oh my! I’m so surprised! I don’t know what to say! Thank you! When I created this particular cupcake I knew it was going to be a hit and–”

“Riley.” Drake finally knocked on the door. It was entertaining at first but he did need to pee, too. “Can you receive that award some other time? I need to go in there.”

Ten seconds later, Riley walked out and faced him. “How long have you been standing here?”

“Since your argument with my aunt. Should I ask what on Earth was that or better not?”

Riley shrugged. “It’s very deliberating. You saying things you didn’t get the chance to say. At least you always win fake arguments. It’s a nice feeling.”

Drake raised an eyebrow. “... Right.” He still looked skeptical.

Riley rolled her eyes. “Try it yourself if you don’t believe me.”

“No thank you. I’ll stick to showering when I’m, you know, taking a shower.”

Riley didn’t say anything and let him do his thing. She put on some clothes and went to work. When she came home, Drake was already there.

“Honey, I’m home!” She yelled but no one answered. As she started walking up the stairs, she heard muffled voices and a running shower. And if she didn’t see his phone earlier on the kitchen counter, maybe she’d think he was having a serious conversation. But she did and now she was biting her lip, careful not to burst out laughing.

SCENE #2

Riley wasn’t ready to start her day when the alarm went off.

“Ughhhh,” she groaned and shoved Drake as he was turning it off. Their weekend routine was simple: they both woke up at nine, Drake took a shower while Riley was preparing breakfast for them. On weekdays they didn’t have time to eat together in the morning so every Saturday and Sunday Riley went all in. Those breakfasts were big and long; they weren’t in a rush.

It was a different kind of weekend though. First of all, the alarm went off at six in the morning, not nine. Secondly, Drake was going to Belgium for a few days for a photoshoot so their breakfast would be rushed anyway. Thirdly, Riley was extra tired.

“You ok?” Drake asked, rolling to her side and gently rubbing her arm.

“Mhmm,” she murmured, snuggling into her pillow.

“I’m gonna take a shower now, will you take care of breakfast?”

“Mmm, make breakfast yourself today.”

“Riley. You said you wanted to make it and eat it with me before I leave.”

“I changed my mind,” she said sleepily. Drake sighed.

“Riley?”

“Ugh!” She sat up. “It’s too early!”

“You wake up at six every day when you go to work!”

“I’m tired!”

“What happened? You never had a problem with waking up early.”

Riley narrowed her eyes and got out of the bed. “Well maybe,” she hissed while putting on a robe. “If you want those stupid breakfasts maybe you should stop keeping me up all night so I can get a decent amount of sleep!”

She threw a pillow at him before storming out, Drake’s laughter echoing in the whole house.

When Drake finally left, Riley started brewing herself a cup of coffee - a latte with homemade lavender syrup, also known as a forbidden coffee in Drake’s household. She was just about to take a sip before she realized the milk must have gone bad. It smelled awful and she felt like throwing up. She made another coffee, with new milk, but it still smelled bad. Riley thought the syrup could be the reason. But it wasn’t.

Neither was the coffee or anything.

Riley realized she was the problem. For some reason she couldn’t bear the smell of coffee, her favorite beverage. If she weren’t already panicking that she could be sick, she probably would be very upset that she couldn’t have her beloved drink.

And then somewhere between Googling different symptoms on the Internet and trying to fight nausea caused by coffee she remembered her period was late.

Very late.

Going to the drugstore and back took her only about twenty minutes but looking at the little box before deciding to open it and pee on the stick took her over two hours. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to see the result, she knew she would accept whatever it would be. She was simply scared. It was a life changing moment. A moment about which she read in books, watched movies or even heard from friends. It was one thing to hear about it but it was a completely different thing to experience it herself.

“There could be a tiny human here,” she thought to herself while rubbing her flat belly. It was the weirdest feeling ever. She felt stressed, she felt nervous, she felt anxious but it couldn’t even compare to the joy she felt when she saw two lines next to each other.

She wished she could tell Drake straight away but she knew it was a conversation they could have on the phone. She would tell him once he was back.

And she couldn't wait for it.

Six on Sunday

Hi, all and welcome to my Six Sentence Sunday! I know I am the worst writer ever; I start all these things, make all the promises, and it seems when I DO have an offering, it’s nothing I promised, or you asked for.

You’re going to have to trust me, I know what’s been promised and you WILL get it but if you know me at all, I can’t rush a story and not going to try. The ideas and inspiration come in bits, pieces, and spurts and I choose to let them simmer on back burners until they come to a boil. I do try to make it worth your wait; hopefully I am more hit than miss with that.

This week, I present you with two asks and a follow-up. The snippets are a little lengthy, but more is better, right? As always, everything is in a really rough state of draft, and final product may vary.

Lastly, Riley’s glance fell upon her husband; Liam’s expression was neutral as he listened to the discussion. Too neutral. He knew something.

“We MUST get these animals to auction! It’s our income for the last half of the year!” Bianca abandoned the eggs to sit at the table with Drake. “And we don’t have much time!”

Leona gazed imploringly at the King of Cordonia. “Liam, you and your friends will help, won’t you? You wouldn’t leave us in a lurch.”

“HELL NO, we are NOT herding WILD ANIMALS across the freaking countryside!” Riley yelled. “Look, I KNEW coming to anything Walker related would be a mistake, but THIS … this is fucking ridiculous! From the moment we stepped onto this godforsaken property, YOU HAVE NEEDED US! You need us to clean and muck stalls, you need us to get Savannah a horse so she can have the fairytale wedding she THINKS her parents had … THEN y’all need a SADDLE for the horse!

“We DID ALL THAT! And Savannah thanks us by staring at my NAKED, SLEEPING husband like some creepy chick out of a horror movie AND leaves a positive pregnancy test in our dresser drawer! NOW … NOW you want us to be ACTUAL ranch hands in this hellish Texas heat.”

Riley stalked from the kitchen, headed for the stairway. Liam followed, breaking into a light jog to keep up with his wife’s long strides.

“Brooks, where are you going?” Drake yelled.

“To do what should have been done Day 1. I’m getting Liam’s checkbook to write this ranch a check, and THEN I am going back to Cordonia!” she hollered as she pushed past the group of noblewomen.

She had placed one foot on the bottom step when the doorbell rang. She looked at the door, rage and confusion on her face. Riley stared at her husband. “Well, ANSWER it!”

Liam hurried to the door, peering through the sheer curtain. His complexion paled as he called feebly for Bertrand to join him. By this time, everyone had gathered in the front room and Bertrand jostled his way to the door after giving a blank-faced Savannah a questioning look.

“Father?”

Everyone’s head shot up. No way in HELL was it Barthelemy Beaumont who had been in a near-death coma for over a decade. Riley, who had eased her way to the door, shoved Maxwell hard. “I thought you told me your daddy was dead,” she hissed.

The young Lord shook his head helplessly.

The tall, gaunt, elderly gentleman crossed the threshold in a suit too big for his frame. Before he could push the door to, a breathless female voice called out, “Hold the door!”

No one noticed Leo as he padded heavily down the wooden stairs; his pajamas were rumpled and he yawned loudly. “What’s all the commotion about?” he demanded.

Then his eyes widened in surprise. “Party Twin?”

Their Friday evening began with dinner at a quiet neighborhood café, where they dined on a creamy Brussel sprout chowder that contained potatoes, corn, and finely chopped jalapeno peppers; blackened salmon; garlic pasta, and garden salads. Over bites of food and sips of an Oregon Pinot Noir, the couple chatted about their day.

Max told Liv that the org’s annual convention was three months away; it was going to be held in Orlando, Florida.

“I’ll miss you,” Olivia replied as she stabbed at her salad.

Max looked dismayed. “You’re not coming? It’s FLORIDA!”

Olivia looked up, a slight frown on her face. “Precisely. Heat, humidity, complete morons, snakes, and alligators. All things I despise in life.”

Maxwell chuckled. “And here I thought it was vegans making a mockery of meat that pushed your buttons.”

“Don’t get me started on that! They don’t want to eat the meat, but wanna pour bbq sauce on cauliflower or that wheat meat concoction and call it a chicken wing or a burger! It’s vegetables and gluten … call it what it is. And I swear veganism originated in Florida! Change my mind.”

“The term was coined in 1944 by one Donald Watson, who was born, lived, and died in England; veganism itself dates back over 2,000 years with origins in both India and Greece.”

“Fucking know-it-all,” Liv muttered before taking a sip of wine.

She mentioned having to revise the policies and procedures handbook for the hotel chain she worked for; apparently some of the language was too vague and easily misinterpreted. As the Human Resources Director, it fell on her to at least start the process, and oversee all aspects of the edits.

“Get Liam to help; he’s good at the legalese shit,” Maxwell advised. “You need the legal terminology so it can be interpreted to your advantage.”

Olivia twirled pasta around her fork. “I don’t know if I want to spend that much time with him. He’s cool and all, but not really in my top three when it comes to the gang.”

Maxwell looked surprised. “Really?”

“He always has women problems and constantly, without fail, wants to take over someone’s kitchen when he visits. And he never, ever has his own weed! I mean, like NEVER!”

A Fine Line, Part 2 of One Night Stand; Song Inspo: Fine Line, Harry Styles

I stare at Riley: splotchy cheeks, red-rimmed eyes … her entire demeanor is one of defeat and resignation. I hesitate to speak, fearful of triggering her.

“Have you considered adoption?”

Her head lifts quickly, sharply; her eyes narrow dangerously as she peers at me.

“That is not an option,” she states in a cold tone. “I either have it, or I don’t. There’s no gray area here.”

I nod my head slowly as I process what she has said.

“How … how do you feel? Not physically, but that to! I just … where are you with the decision?”

A bark of angry laughter. “You mean the decision I have no say in? The decision a group of old white men made for me and who knows how many other women?”

She shakes her head. “I feel like someone has moved into my house and refuses to leave and the cops are telling me there’s nothing I can do.” Pale, slender fingers rake through her hair. “I can’t do Riley things, I can’t BE Riley!”

I say nothing; I shove my hands deeply into my pockets while rocking on the balls of my feet.

“I want to be alone! I like solitude, but now I’m carrying this extra person around ALL THE TIME. I feel it slide with me when I roll over in bed. It makes me eat things I neither like nor want. It’s just here … constantly here.”

Small sobs escape her lips.

“I want cigarettes and coffee! I want my late-night chocolate bars, I want to eat ALLL the fried, greasy things ALL THE TIME because that’s what I do … but I can’t. Because it isn’t good for the baby.”

“It’s a small sacrifice for the health of the child.”

“A CHILD I DON’T THINK I WANT!”

She stalks closer to me, her arms outstretched; I let her push me. I stumble backwards, but don’t fall.

“Where the FUCK is YOUR sacrifice in all of this? What are YOU giving up? What’s YOUR contribution to the health of this baby?” She screams. “YOU get to write a check and walk away! I DON’T!”

I look down at her, before I pull her into an embrace. Holding her tightly, I lay my cheek against her hair. “Why does anyone have to walk away? Because I’m not. From any of it.”

do you listen to music when you write/edit "An Arranged Marriage" ? what kind of music gets you in the mood to write/edit the fic?

I do have music that I listen to get inspired, but I don't oftentimes write while listening to music. I listen to all sorts of music over the course of my day, so I tend to have it quiet when it's time to sit down and write.

Well, I guess that's a lie, because I've got two lists: inspiration music and writing music. Both I occasionally dip into if I feel that it is necessary for the scene (parties, dances, etc) or if I just feel the vibe is necessary.

Inspiration music is whatever song I've latched onto for the day that just gets my interests going. I can't possibly list all of the songs that have inspired me, we'd be here all day if I did, but I can offer some of my most recent songs I've listened to. They may not even be possibly related to the story, just the vibe that's being given off by the song has caught my attention.
