Hello! I just love your arcane x reader works! Can you do arcane characters x gender neutral! reader who either died or got kidnapped during a mission?
Oh not making Reader dead nope, these characters have suffered enough they don't need a dead lover.
Pairing: Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Ekko, Vander, Silco, Sevika, Viktor, Jayce, Mel x Reader
Tags: angst, hurt/comfort, injury, cuddles, nightmares, crying, rescue mission, reunion kisses
A/N: Well um... Jayce might... you know what no, Mel is gonna be fine!
Tumblr media
First, know that you won't stay kidnapped for long. If it for some reason is days then be ready to be face to face with a very tired and very pissed off Jinx when she finally manages to track you down.
Who ever kidnapped you most likely won't survive to tell the tail and even if by some miracle they do they sure as hell won't ever look at the color blue the same way ever again. She might be tired as all fuck, on the verge of collapsing even but she won't rest until you're safe and sound in her arms back in her house.
"You're safe and sound now sugar. That must've been scary for ya. Don't worry, they won't hurt you again. Or anyone else for that matter. Oh, no don't look at them like that, ya shouldn't be sorry for them, they don't deserve your compassion."
Tumblr media
By the time Vi finds you she's bruised up maybe even more then your kidnappers. She's fought her way through all of them, yelling and cursing every single one of them. She gathers you in her arms and carries you back home.
As much as she wants to be the one taking care of you she's also pretty beat so you take the role of caretaker instead. Her hands are red and covered in cruises from vicious punching, twitching when you kiss them gently. Shit, you got her feeling all mushy, she could cry, no she is crying, she feels very lucky to have you.
"I'm supposed to be the one taking care of you sweet stuff, you're the one who got kidnapped. I know! How is it that I'm more banged up then you? You should have seen those sorry bastards, one actually cried for his mom. Did... did they make you cry? If they did I'm going back and kicking their asses all over again."
Tumblr media
Caitlyn, as much as she wants to, doesn't rush in. She has a plan, one that assures that not one of those who wronged you escapes her sights and a fair trail. In which they will be put behind bars for kidnapping and extortion.
She takes care of most of them by herself, a little more rough around the edges then usual but still not missing a shot. She can't afford to. Can't help but cry when she cups your bruised face in her hands. She was scared, so damn scared that this was it. Right now only your kiss will make her feel relieved again.
"Darling, its me, its just me. Please, I know it hurts but... oh gods... please just let me hold you a little. I don't care that they're looking, I need this right now. Don't worry I've got a warm bath and even warmer hugs ready for you once we get back home."
Tumblr media
Ekko arrives to rescue you with an entire team of Firelights at his back. He doesn't even bother hiding his face with the mask, he wants them to remember him, the look in his eyes and how it could have been the last thing they ever saw.
There's no way he can tear himself away from you once he's got you safe and sound in his arms. He doesn't leave your side while your injures are being treated or while you sleep. In fact he doesn't even sleep until you wake up and smile at him again the next morning, that's the point where he feels like he's done a good job.
"Firefly how do you feel? You took a bit of a hit to the head but the doctor said you should be okay now. Sorry, I got careless and let my guard down. I saw them coming but I... I wasn't fast enough. Its not okay! I could have gotten you killed. I would lay my life down for the cause, and that does double for laying down my life for you."
Tumblr media
There isn't anything or anyone that can move around Zaun without Vander's knowledge. He thought he left his violent days behind him a long time ago, and for the most part he has but there's still that protective spark in him that can activate his violent side easily.
His fists may be covered in blood but his smile and eyes are as soft as ever when he looks at you. Soft kisses are pampered all over your forehead, the tiniest broken hiccup tearing from his mouth as he nuzzles you close to him and carries you back to the Last Drop to look you over.
"I should've taken care of that gang long ago. Then you wouldn't be in this situation darlin'. How do I feel? Not a scratch on me as you can see. You on the other hand... don't worry you still look pretty to me, bruises or not. I can kiss them better if you just stopped your squirming around."
Tumblr media
Zaun is Silco's domain. If anyone is stupid enough to try and kidnap you in his own territory they won't stay hidden for long. And once he finds them, well, he's got plenty of uses for scum like that. Painful use.
As for you, you get nothing but his undivided attention until the last bruise on your body fades away. Sure he does need to be in his office and all that but you can be with him, you can get kisses whenever you want even get to cuddle with him on the couch.
"Are you comfortable over there darling? If you want I can get something better brought here. Shimmer? Well it would be faster but I'm not getting you hooked on this, you're much to precious to me to be some experiment. Your kidnappers on the other hand will serve their purpose."
Tumblr media
They will have to eat through a straw for the rest of their lives if they even survive Sevika getting her hands on them. They should be so lucky to only get away with broken bones and nothing else with the way she was making her way through them.
Sevika is very careful when she's handling you, she'd never been so gentle with anyone. It's new, endearing even. You're pretty sure you hear her cursing beside you when she's got her arms wrapped around yours as you fall asleep, followed by a very long kiss on your head and a heavy, relived sigh.
"Sleep sweet thing, no one's gonna hurt you hear me? They can try but I'll kill them all, lucky if that's all I do. The only reason those idiots are still breathing is cause I didn't wanna get their blood all over your pretty face. If I see them again there's gonna be a lot to clean up."
Tumblr media
Viktor doesn't think he can let you out of his sight ever again after you're back at his side. He only wishes he could have done more then waited for you to be retuned to him. At least you're safe that's all that should matter.
He should be the one looking after you but he's the one who ends up with nightmares that night. He's already lost sleep, he should be resting but when he thinks about you not being here anymore, it crushes him from the inside. All he wants, all he needs right now is to cuddle up next to you and listen to your heartbeat.
"Sorry I woke you up darling. I'm alright, don't worry. I'm not crying, just had a bit of a bad dream. Go back to sleep please, you need it. I'll be fine, as long as I've got you here by my side there's nothing I cannot handle."
Tumblr media
Jayce holds you close to his chest while he carries you to the doctor. He's constantly kissing the back of your hand, his hammer leaning against the bedframe just in case any of the kidnappers got away and wanted to try their luck again.
There aren't many things that can make him scared like the thought of losing you. He tries to be logical most of the time, he feels like that's what he should be, but you make him act on his emotions, you make him want to scream and cry and tell you over and over how much he loves you and how he'll never let anything bad happen to you again.
"Hey, you're awake! Whoa babe, easy, don't try getting up right now, you need to rest, you've been through a lot today. Just say the word and I'll get you whatever you need. You always take care of me so let me be a good boyfriend and spoil you for a change and help you get better okay?"
Tumblr media
Mel was almost ready to throw diplomacy out the damn window and turn both Piltover and Zaun on their heads to find you. But that would be going against everything the two of you are trying achieve. That said she doesn't show mercy to your kidnappers either, making sure they get put away for a long time, never seeing the light of day again.
After every meeting with the Council she rushes home to you, her mind stuck on you all day, unable to concentrate properly. This will be an issue for her until you recover but you being safe and getting healed up are... more important to her then impressing the Council.
"I made it home early for you darling, and I brought some more medicine. Would you like it now or after you eat? I see, very well then, just my company for now is it. I must say you've become a bit more spoiled recently. I don't mind one bit, as long as you're alright I'm happy to provide you anything you want."

Echoes of Silent Respite
(Yone x reader)
Part 2 of Unspoken Whispers of the Heart
Yone x reader; angst, some fluff, but still angst.
There’s also Yasuo near the end but he’s more of a cameo. …or maybe not?
<<Part one here!>>
<<Edit: Yasuo's part here! >>
Notes:
This story is the continuation of the previous one, set a few months (or years?) after the reader met Yone, being the azakana hunter. I decided to make this second part more from Yone’s side of perspective. Also, any unsaid details in the story are left for the reader’s interpretation.
I kinda felt bad for Yone smh I decided to make this fic hehe.
I hope you enjoy! :D
•~•~•~•
No rest. No sleep. There is no time.
Yone trudged through the forest, panting, the weight of exhaustion evident in each step. The silent winds of the woodland breeze seemed to offer a gentle caress to his cheek as he walked, as if trying to soothe his weary soul.
Many azakana had been running rampant throughout the lands since the war, feasting on any living being who harbored darkness inside their heart, consuming their soul and mind. He had slayed them one by one, yet more of them still seemed to manifest themselves deep in the shadows, multiplying themselves to no end.
He had no idea when this would come to an end - or if it would end at all. Let alone the quest on finding the name of the azakana that had attached itself to his face. He had been learning other azakana’s names, slaying them day by day, while hoping to learn about what he had become in the process.
To free himself of this burden. Yone’s own determination to do that was enough to keep himself going.
But nevertheless, he’d have to admit, this responsibility of his did take a toll on his body and mind. Weariness and doubt – of when this would cease to an end – had crept into him from time to time. Especially like on this very night.
For what purpose am I given another chance to walk this land again, even after death? These thoughts did wander sometimes, as he tried to stay resolute to keep the azakana at bay.
He looked towards the forest clearing as he wandered aimlessly. A hint of orange glimmered on the horizon below the cliff, signaling the approaching sunrise. Taking a deep breath, he made his way towards the nearest opening. The dim light caused him to wince a bit, but amidst the woods, he spotted a small wooden shack just outside the forest’s edge.
A wooden shack by a cliff, just right outside the forest clearings…
The familiarity of the place tugged at his memory, though he couldn’t quite place it. He had wandered across the land so much that smaller details began to blur altogether.
In any case, he wished to admire the sunrise, just for today, quietly, he thought.
He was about to walk towards the cliff when suddenly, he felt a presence that seemed to have occupied the place in front of him. Ready to retreat back into the shadows, a cat suddenly jumped in front of him, stopping him in his tracks. It meowed and purred, circling and rubbing its body against his feet, seemingly fond of him.
Yone instantly recognized the creature at his feet. The white cat with sakura-colored patches of the fur, with green-colored eyes that shone like twin emeralds in the dim light, was indeed the one that had been in the dojo from back in the days. Though the cat had seemingly aged, its sense of familiarity toward him had not changed.
He was just about to crouch down to pet the old feline friend when another figure appeared in front of him, blocking his view of the sunrise.
The figure in front of him was about to unsheathe what seemed to be a dagger, its sheath kept on the left hip, but immediately relaxed their shoulders as that person took a better look at him.
It was you.
“We meet again, friendly stranger,” you said with a smile, your sudden warmth creeping into him, much like the sunrise that was starting to emerge out from the horizon.
He was not sure what to do at this moment, as he stood still, holding his ground. He was pretty sure he had decided that he did not want to interfere further in your life, but honestly… he had been restless.
A fragile figure of yours, yet, had somehow decided on keeping a dagger on your side. The kind healer who had been supporting the dojo, and him. He wondered when you had picked up the way of the blade to defend yourself, as he knew for sure your ability allows you to heal pretty much anything but yourself. He had always thought that he would be the one to protect you, if a certain tragedy had not happened.
War had changed people too much.
He was standing still when the cat decided to leap back to you, purring as it circled around your feet.
“You know, she shows affection only to certain people,” you said with a tender smile as you crouched to the ground to pet the cat. “And… I think she certainly hasn’t forgotten a certain someone’s smell.”
Did you know? Yone did not dare to ask.
“Come,” you finally stood up and extended your hand towards him. “The view is nice during sunrise. You certainly wouldn’t want to miss it.”
Your warmth seeped into him and he felt as though he were ready to surrender himself to you, allowing himself to be enveloped by the warm light. And this time, he was indeed tired. Very tired. He had been wearing the mask for too long, that he was starting to forget the face beneath it, that had longed for a certain warmth.
After a moment of hesitation, Yone took your gentle hand, and you led him outside the forest. As soon as the sunlight bathed him, waves of nostalgic memory fragments hit him hard. This place did truly hold memories back from the past, as he could see the remains of the dojo not too far from the cliff. A place where he and the students would train. A place where he and you would train, albeit casually. It was a flood of bittersweet recollections, reminding him of who he used to be before the weight of the world's burdens settled on his shoulders.
You led him near a bench under the tree, just beside the shack. The abandoned structure, once filled with items for training, now appeared run-down, some parts reduced into broken logs and piles of dust. He sat on the bench, an action that had become very much foreign to him. You took a seat on his left – not too far, but not too close, while gently letting go of his hand. He kept his gaze down at his hands, still feeling the lingering warmth on his palm as the cat suddenly climbed onto his lap and curled itself up. He couldn’t help but pet it gently.
“I had put a camp near here when a dream brought me to this place. It was calling me here, and I was just as curious to find out what,” you said as you stared into the horizon as the sunlight started shining through the land. “I didn’t realize I was near the dojo until I climbed up here.” You paused, letting the nostalgic view seep into you. “...Then, I found Nora inside the shack, I thought she was the one who needed company!” You laughed lightly and glanced at the cat, who was now resting comfortably on his lap.
Was this the work of the dream fawn? He thought. He’d need to thank Lillia later.
“I never expected to meet you here, out of all places,” you said again, with your sweet smile, glancing back at him. Yet, you seemed to mask a certain bittersweetness inside your eyes.
Yone looked away from your gaze, turning his attention to the landscape beyond the cliff, reminiscing the days he had during his training in the dojo. A memory that felt so far… buried deep within his very soul. Although he had adopted a new identity – committing himself on the safety of the realm, fighting in the darkness – he could not deny his longing for a mortal’s company. Your company.
You scanned his features as his eyes glanced back to yours. You observed him intently, a mix of worry and relief visible in your eyes. His left eye – which was not covered by the mask – lingered to your face, gaze softening at you.
“You…,” you paused, trying to choose your words carefully as you kept your gaze on him. “I don’t know if I can still be much of a help, but…” you shifted to his side, sitting a little bit closer now. You lifted your right hand, bringing your palm up close to his cheeks. He could feel soothing magic radiating from your palms. “Here, maybe this could ease you for a bit,” you cooed.
He was taken aback at your sudden movement, but he kept his position unchanged. There was a moment of uncertainty before he finally decided to give himself up to your warm touch to his cheek, closing his eyes in the process. Your healing magic seeped into him, a gentle warmth spreading through his body. It was a familiar feeling, one that brought back memories of simpler, happier times.
For a while, he allowed himself to bask in the soothing embrace of your magic, letting go of the weight that had burdened him, even just for a while. The worries, the doubts, the weariness... they seemed to melt away, little by little, in your touch.
“Thank you,” he said, putting his hand on top of yours as he opened his eyes.
You smiled tenderly, your soft gaze focused on him. Without a word, you gently pulled his face towards yours, as you also leaned forward to press your forehead against his – a gesture of comfort and understanding, a silent promise passing between you two.
“Every time the darkness wears you down,” you whispered softly, your words flowing like a gentle stream, “Come to me, I’ll always be there for you as long as I’m breathing.”
Your voice, a soothing melody, wrapped around him like a warm embrace. Your words gave him comfort he hadn't realized he needed, a lifeline in the midst of the storm. The darkness felt less daunting, less suffocating, in the light of your presence. His eyes fluttered close as he felt a strong emotion stir within him. He breathed out, letting himself indulge into the intimacy of this moment.
How he’d wish the time to stop for the two of you right now.
You pulled away not long after, pausing momentarily before bringing your hand back to your lap. Although you tried to keep your gaze fixed on him, your eyes began to water, glistening under the sunlight. He kept your gaze, sorrow washed through him as he noticed what was coming.
No, please, don’t cry… He wouldn’t be able to bear seeing you crying now. Your sudden show of emotions made him feel as if an invisible hand was gripping tight at his heart.
You blinked yourself twice to gather yourself together, letting your own breathing to calm down, then glanced towards Nora – the cat, who was still sleeping on top of his lap. You let a low chuckle, watching the creature who was seemingly unbothered by anything in the world.
“Your support means… everything to me,” he said softly. You turned your head towards him and beamed a smile in response.
The two of you were enjoying the serene warmth of the sun side-by-side for a moment, when suddenly, he felt another presence approaching. Nora jumped out of his lap at the same time, hissing towards a certain direction.
He could feel the wind that blows towards him, bringing another familiar figure with it.
The taste of salt in the wind - Yasuo.
“Hm?” You looked towards the source of the rustling sound, standing a bit to peek into the bushes. Seizing this opportunity, he disappeared into the shadows, back into the forest, to be unseen. You immediately turned your head towards where he had been sitting, only to find an empty spot on your side. A gentle breeze caressed your cheeks, carrying a few leaves back into the forest. You let out a bittersweet smile, realizing that he had left, but stood up to meet the man who was approaching towards you.
“I think I’ve told you about not wandering off alone, especially before daylight,” Yasuo sighed, appearing from the bushy trails. “I’ve been searching where you’d left – h-huh!”
Nora, sensing his presence, decided to leap in front of him, hissing fiercely.
“Geez, even after years she hasn’t forgotten me, it seems like,” Yasuo chuckled awkwardly as he rubbed his neck. Nora then jumped back to the piled logs near the abandoned shack, still alert of Yasuo’s presence.
“Sorry, Yasuo,” you giggled a bit, crouching towards the cat to pet her, as if to bid her goodbye. “A dream led me here.”
“A dream huh…” Yasuo muttered, still seeming a bit dazed. He then glanced into the forest, as if sensing another presence from within.
“Let’s go, we’ll need to reach the plains before sunset today, right?” you asked, already walking in front of Yasuo. He kept his gaze still into the forest, checking.
“Right…” He stood there for a moment, facing the forest, but then shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts before following behind you, ready to continue the journey.
Yone watched them descend down the hills, a sense of relief washing over him. With Yasuo accompanying you, he knew you had someone to protect you during your travels, someone who would defend you in times of need. And as for himself… he would be watching over you from afar, protecting you from any kind of threats coming from the spirit realm.
As the sun continued its ascent, casting a warm golden glow over the landscape, he made his way back into the forest. It was time for him to continue his own journey, to face the demons that awaited in this mortal realm.
Yone gripped his katanas in both hands, ready to move. The path he traversed would not be a short one, but with the fleeting moment the two of you had shared held firmly in his heart, he proceeded deeper into the forest shadows.
•~•~•~•
p.s. Nora means ‘stray’, as in ‘stray cat’ or ‘stray dog’ in Japanese. I did not think much about the choice of names for the cat. oops

Out Of My League | Kayn Shieda / Rhaast
Tumblr media
Heartsteel!Kayn Shieda / Rhaast x f!reader
Part 2: Shotcalling.
Part 1. Part 3. Part 4.
Sypnosis: A chronically online girl trying to get out of the friendzone. Contents: Modern AU, High school AU. Friends to lovers. Fluff and some angst. No warnings. Word count: 6982 words. Author's Note: So... I wasn't going to post a second part but the guys in AO3 asked for it so here it is as well lol.
Tumblr media
Two months ago, you discovered that your weird online friend, Rhaast, was the famous Kayn Shieda, one of the most popular boys in school. Luckily, this dynamic change just strengthened your friendship. Now, both talked every time you ran into each other in the hallway and played League at night while criticizing people from school on call. You were lucky to have his attention, even if it meant that your jealous classmates glared at you every time you talked too much to him. You loved this new phase, but you knew it would end soon.
The school year was a month away and that meant two things. The first one was that the famous annual talent show was approaching. It was a farewell event your school organized for the students. It was an important event attended by students and the general public. At first, it was meant to be a one-time event, but thanks to the great reception it became a tradition. Your math teacher liked to encourage students to participate, so he always gave extra credits to those who did. Credits that you urgently needed if you didn't want to take summer classes.
So here you were, meticulously searching for a simple song that you could play and sing at the same time on Spotify. You weren't the best singer but at least it would be better than just boringly playing guitar. You were lying on a bench in the music room. That oasis where you met Kayn. That embarrassing memory had transformed into a nostalgic one. You were still an introvert and shy, but not with Kayn.
"Found you," you heard Kayn as he entered the room with his characteristic velvety voice.
Your heart skipped a beat mercilessly on your chest like the first day. Your hands started to sweat, so you quickly wiped them on your pants. Your lungs were feeling out of breath with every step he took towards you, but you quickly regained your composure.
"What are you doing here?" You asked while putting your phone aside, pretending that his presence was no big deal. Kayn threw a soda can at you which you skillfully caught.
"I didn't see you in the cafeteria, so I thought you'd be here," he said. Kayn quickly noticed your guitar.
He was an observant man, he almost knew your routine by just watching your behavior. The guitar caught his attention because you almost never brought it to school, unless you participated in class and you didn't have music class that day.
"Are you going to perform at the talent show?" You nodded and sat properly on the bench to drink the soda comfortably.
"I have to do it if I want to pass math. I'll just play an easy song," you explained before taking a sip.
"Heartsteel will also perform. That means we are rivals now," Kayn joked as he sat down next to you. You rolled your eyes.
"It's not fair, you guys have practically have the contest on the bag," you said while frowning. He laughed at how cute you looked when you did that.
"Do you already have a song in mind?" Kayn asked curiously. He had never heard you sing, so this new side caught his attention.
"Yes, it goes something like this…" You replied before picking up your guitar again. Your fingers delicately positioned on the strings and you began to play a couple of chords to create a simple melody.
"Two sides to a story, but never tell my side. Never been the kinda guy to stay inside the guidelines..." You rapped like Kayn did in Paranoia. He laughed when he heard you. Not to mock you, he just wasn't expecting you to know the lyrics. He couldn't stop smiling as you recited his part perfectly.
"No one can replace me, baby," he commented sarcastically while applauding at your brief presentation.
"I know, but I am a close second," you said pretending that your ego was as high as his.
He watched you closely as you mocked his narcissistic personality. He liked that he could be himself when you were around, but he still couldn't let himself go like he wished.
"What will you do without me?" He suddenly asked in a serious tone, completely changing the fun atmosphere you had created.
"We've been online friends for 2 years, I'll be fine," you responded with the same tone as you noticed his concern. Kayn shook his head at the response.
"You know it won't be like before. When I graduate, I will dedicate myself fully to my musical career and I won't have as much time to play or talk with you as we used to," he explained with a melancholic tone.
The school year was a month away and that meant two things. The second thing was that Kayn, a senior student, would be graduating soon. You would no longer see him singing in the hallways, eating with his friends or playing basketball. Also, he had recently debuted with his band, Heartsteel, and they had recently released their first single. That would mean he would be busier with rehearsals, fan meetings and concerts. Just thinking about it saddens you, but you knew that he was fulfilling his dream and you had to support him. You still had a month left so you had to make the most of it.
"You worry about nothing," you told him before nudging his arm so he stopped being so tense.
"You know that I will always be available for you," you smiled at him so he would stop thinking about the future so could focus on the present.
It was true that you always wanted to be by his side, but he was a star and you had to give him space to shine. If Kayn was happy, you would be. Even if it meant that your delicate heart would be sad in the mornings when you couldn't see him in the sky.
The school day ended and you were heading back to the music room to retrieve your guitar. You grabbed the sheet music you had written during the break once Kayn went back to his friends, put the notebook in your bag and hung the guitar on your back. You left the room and looked out the window at a scene you hadn't seen in a while.
Kayn was in front of a beautiful girl. You recognized her easily given her good reputation as the captain of the school’s volleyball team. With just a glance, it was obvious how good they looked together. Did you look like that next to him? Most likely you looked like one of his eager fans.
She handed him an envelope decorated with hearts and kisses. She was confessing her love to him and he was receiving it. One after another, Rhaast used to tell you that he dated a new girl every week because “there's Rhaast for everyone,” or that's what he always used to say on call. You had already gotten used to seeing that scene in the distance many times when it came to the out of league Kayn, but this time it was different. Because you were close to him, you now felt like you had a chance to confess your feelings with ease and that's why you were jealous of the captain. Now you understood your jealous classmates, you had become one of them.
If your time with Kayn was limited, you had to make the most of it. You had to confess no matter the outcome. Sure, you were afraid that he would cruelly reject your feelings but you didn't care. You wanted to tell Kayn everything your heart had been locking up since you first saw him.
If you were going to confess, you were going to do it in Kayn's style. You were going to give him the best confession he had ever seen in his life, so you could stand out among your pretty rivals. You were going to write him a song and perform it in front of the whole school at the talent show. Did you know how to write a song? No. Were you ready to sing your feelings in front of a large audience? Also no, but that would be a problem for the future you. You had to do it to make the most out of the opportunity.
You watched tutorials on YouTube on how to compose music, you researched how to write romantic lyrics, and you asked your friends on Discord what they thought of how the song was turning out. Some showed their support while others made fun of you, but that didn't matter to you in the slightest. Your confidence was the highest it has ever been and no one could take away your motivation.
You decided to write a song about how Kayn made you feel every time you saw him, how you couldn't take your eyes off him even if you wanted to, and how you wanted him to look at you like you were the prettiest girl in the room. You wrote him a song to show him how bad you wanted him compared to the other girls.
One night, Kayn sent you a message while you were focused on writing. You ignored your computer because you were repeating a verse that didn't convince you how it sounded with the beat.
Kayn was in his dark messy room. The glow of his computer dimly illuminated his pale body. He frowned when he noticed that you didn't answer him as quickly as you usually did. He sent another message to get your attention, but this one was also ignored. “She better be showering or else,” he thought, annoyed. Minutes passed by and you showed no signs of life. Kayn had no choice but to send another message... which you didn't answer. This was really rare in you. “Is she mad at me?” he thought before starting to analyze everything he had said or done to find out the reason for your strange attitude towards him.
“Damn, what did I do?” he asked himself, starting to worry. He got up from his gaming chair to walk anxious from side to side through the gloomy room. “Maybe she's talking to someone else,” he thought, looking at your Discord chat. Out of nowhere, a shirtless K'Sante walked into the room.
"Hey, Kayn, can I borrow some of your shampoo? I ran out of mine," he asked with a towel hanging over his broad shoulder.
"Do you think she hates me?" Kayn asked without taking his eyes off the unread messages. “What this have to do with shampoo?” K'Sante thought, confused.
"Why would she hate you?" he asked, unsure if he wanted to participate in the conversation.
Kayn trusted K'Sante when it came to talking about girls because he was the one who gave the best advice out of all the members of Heartsteel.
"I don't know! I already sent her three texts and she doesn't answer me!" Kayn cried, desperate for attention. K'Sante sighed as he shook his head.
"You're overreacting," he said, getting fed up with his friend's nonsense before closing the door. Kayn huffed and settled back down in front of his computer.
Eventually you were able to rewrite the verse that bothered you so much and thus you finished writing the lyrics of the song. You checked your phone and were surprised to see Rhaast's messages.
@Rhaast: League or what? (10:30 pm)
@Rhaast: Heeeyyyyy (10:38 pm)
@Rhaast: YOU CAN'T BE BUSY, I'M YOUR ONLY FRIEND!! 😞 (10:45 PM)
You didn't hesitate to call him as soon as you read those messages. Rhaast answered you almost immediately.
"What did I do to deserve your coldness?" he asked, annoyed at you. “What's up with him?” you asked yourself.
"Nothing, I was just busy," You said as you searched in your room for an excuse to give him other than “I was writing a love song for you.”
"I was doing homework, Mr. Smith left us so many problems to solve," you said as seriously as possible to lie the best you could.
"You better, you said you would always be available for me," Kayn refuted, less angry this time.
"I'm sorry I have a life outside of you," you responded sarcastically.
"I will always be part of your life!" he barked. Kayn was grateful that you couldn't see his cheeks slightly blushing for saying that so boldly. You smiled and shook your head.
"Yeah, yeah... Are we going to play or are you going to keep yapping?" You mocked him before opening the game. Kayn sighed in relief after realizing you weren't upset with him.
The talent show was two weeks away. You were practicing the song you had written in the music room. It was 5 pm. There were almost no students in school, so you felt comfortable practicing without interruptions. Your fingers slid along the strings to play the melody that you had worked so hard to compose. You sang what your heart wanted to say to Kayn but was too of a coward to do so. You were in your element.
"It doesn't sound bad,'' a voice said behind you out of nowhere. You screamed in shock and turned around quickly to see Kayn's friend, Yone, standing in the doorway. You were relieved that at least he wasn't your crush.
You didn't know much about Yone. He was one of the popular kids in school thanks to his height, handsome appearance, and his piano skills. He was also a very important member of Heartsteel because he was the main producer and songwriter. You only knew that because Kayn talks about him from time to time to complain about how uptight and serious he could be.
"I'm s-sorry, I was-sn't expecting anyone here," you stubbornly said when you saw the handsome boy with white hair and red highlights, a perfectly sculpted face and a great presence enter the room. He approached you while analyzing you from head to toe.
"Did you compose that?" He asked skeptically before taking your sheet music notebook.
"Ah y-yes, it's the firs-st one I w-write," you responded, avoiding his intense gaze as he flipped through your sheet music and notes.
Yone knew perfectly well who you were. You were Kayn's closest friend, which is already a pretty impressive title considering Kayn has no friends. He might have many acquaintances, but he could count his true friends with one hand. He knew you were nice, funny, good at playing League and liked to play guitar. Yone didn't really care, but Kayn couldn't stop talking about you. He was surprised at your apparent interest in writing music since his friend had never mentioned it.
"Is it for Kayn?" He asked directly about the song. Your eyes widened at how quickly he deciphered the lyrics.
"What?! Of course not!" You blurted out blushing. Yone gave you a dubious look as he handed your notebook back.
"By the color of your face, I can determine that you are lying" Your head fell in defeat.
"Please don't tell Kayn. It's a surprise," You begged. Yone nodded in camaraderie. As a songwriter, he understood that songs are sacred and confidential until one wishes to share them.
"Your song has potential, is it the one you will perform in the talent show?" he inquired. You just nodded. His serious expression did not allow you to decipher his true intentions.
"Do you think Kayn will like it?" You asked him with a light blush running down your cheeks in awkwardness. Yone thought about his answer.
"I've never seen Kayn listening to a romantic ballad, that sounds more like Ezreal's style," Yone answered as he approached one of the storage lockers in the room. The reason he was there was to get back some amplifiers he had lent to a classmate.
"But I can help you produce something he will like," he offered before stuffing the amps into his backpack.
"Will you really help me?" You asked excitedly.
"I like supporting new artists and I think I can polish the rough diamond you have in your hands," he explained, pointing to the music sheet. You smiled and thanked his kind offer.
And like that, the days went by. Yone would invite you to his production room from time to time to work on the song. Together began to change some verses so that the lyrics flowed better. Yone changed your acoustic guitar for an electric one. You recorded your voice while he worked on uniting all the sounds to create a song so you could proclaim your love.
Both were listening to the final version of the song. It was direct and fierce. The sound of the guitar next to the drums was made to catch anyone's attention, but it would definitely catch Kayn's. When it finished, you applauded the wonderful job Yone had done.
"It's such a bop!" You shouted excitedly, unable to believe that you were the one singing.
"Kayn won't know what hit him when I perform this bad boy!" You said enthusiastically. Yone smiled softly seeing you with so much energy, something that was unusual in you.
"Can I ask you something?" Yone said. You looked at him curiously.
"Why don't you just tell him this in private? Why composing  and singing a song in front of everyone? Doesn't sound like something you'd do," Yone asked.
"Because I want him to look at me the way I look at him when he's on stage. I want him to see that I understand him and that I'm cool as well so that he wants to be with me," you explained with a smile plastered on your face thinking about his reaction. Yone nodded before saving the song file to his computer. You got up from your seat to grab your things.
"You have something else to do?" You asked him. Yone said no.
"I'll treat you to a coffee, it's the least I can do after tolerating me these couple weeks," You invited. Yone giggled.
"Believe me, Kayn and the guys are lucky they're talented." He said tiredly. You just limited yourself to laugh.
Both arrived at a coffee shop near Yone's apartment and ordered delicious drinks. You sat on a comfortable couch to enjoy your coffees while bossa nova covers played in the background. You liked Yone, he could be serious and a little bitter, but he was very kind. It was like you were hanging out with a cat.
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" Yone asked while shaking his cold brew so that the ice would cool the coffee he was about to drink.
Tomorrow was the talent show. Your nervous body was shaking but your mind was excited to finally show Kayn what you've been working on for him.
"Yes, I'll practice all night and put on a nice outfit," you answered confidently. Yone sipped his drink as he watched you excitedly talking about your outfit choices. “I hope Kayn doesn't ruin it” he thought as he focused on seeing you smile.
The bell that indicated the entry of new customers into the cafe rang. To both of your surprise, it was the other members of Heartsteel, Kayn among them. Your body froze and you looked at Yone worried but he was as calm as always. You tried telepathically telling him not to say anything about the song, but he already knew that. Sett became aware of your presence as soon as he entered.
"Hey, Yone. I thought you said you'd be busy," Sett said as he approached you and the other members followed him.
Kayn didn't know what to say as soon as he saw you sitting so closely to Yone. "What's going on here?" he wondered as his gaze bounced between you and his friend. You looked nervous, like you had been caught red-handed.
"I was busy," Yone answered, pointing in your direction.
"Doing what exactly?" Kayn questioned, placing himself in front of both of you. You were going to answer but Yone beat you to it.
"I'm helping her with her performance for the talent show," Yone explained calmly.
"That's true?" Kayn asked you directly with a grim expression.
"Yes, he has helped me a lot," you responded nervously, which Kayn obviously noticed.
He knew you were lying. You were a terrible liar. Kayn needed to know what was really going on.
"Really? Because it seems like you lovey doveys are on a date," Ezreal stirred the pot without knowing. Aphelios whack him for saying such thing.
Date. That was the word that broke Kayn. “Are they really on a date?” He thought as if he couldn't understand the situation when it was so obvious. Yone and you being alone, him suddenly being busy the last two weeks without telling anyone what he was doing, and that time where you took a while to answer his messages. It was as if Kayn had finally put the whole puzzle together but he was forcing pieces into the incorrect places. “They're dating” he convinced himself that what was in front of him was reality.
"I have to go," Kayn said suddenly before quickly leaving the premises. No lame excuses, he just left.
You noticed that something wasn't right when Kayn slammed the door of the establishment, so you got up and left after him without apologizing to anyone. You went out into the street and looked for Kayn to see which way he had taken. To your surprise, he was nowhere to be seen. “He's fast,” you thought before heading to the right… when Kayn had gone left.
After not being able to find him, you sent him a Discord message to make sure everything was okay but he didn't reply. You decided to leave him alone and see him at the talent show. “Maybe he's just jealous that I became friends with someone else” you thought, trying to find the logic in Kayn's illogical behavior.
The day of the long-awaited talent show had finally arrived. The school auditorium was filled with students, family members and journalists waiting to see an incredible show. Your nervousness and anxiety increased as soon as you entered backstage. Beautiful girls in pretty leotards, guys going over their lines and clowns bombarded your field of vision and you didn't know who to see. You held tightly the strap of the electric guitar case that Yone had lent you for the performance. You took a deep breath and entered the place.
You ran into the Heartsteel members among all the contestants. Everyone was there except Kayn. “That's weird” you thought. Ezreal and K'Sante complimented your black dress when they saw you, you thanked them while stuttering because you hardly knew them. Yone asked you how you felt and you told him that you would do your best.
"We'll go bowling after the contest, do you wanna come?" Ezreal asked excitedly. You looked around wondering if Kayn was coming.
"Kayn is going," Yone commented to reassure you. In that case, you accepted.
Just then, you heard Kayn's voice behind you... along with the laughter of a girl. He entered backstage holding the volleyball captain by the waist. They looked good together. Too good. Your breathing hitched and your heart broke when you saw them so close together.
"See you later, beautiful." Kayn said goodbye to her as he released her so she could go with the girls in her group.
Their gazes met. Kayn's heart sped up when he saw you in that pretty dress that allowed him to see your nice legs while yours felt like it was fading little by little. He approached you to look at you closely, trying not to say anything flirty.
"First time I see you in a dress, good for you," Kayn commented, pretending he didn't care about your glow up. "That's all?" you asked yourself, remembering how indecisive you were picking out an outfit the night before. So much effort and all for nothing. At that unenthusiastic reaction, you only thanked in a whisper.
"Hey, Kayn. You’re going bowling with us, right?" Sett asked. Kayn held his forehead dramatically.
"Oh man! I forgot about it! I just invited a super hot chick on a date," he flexed. You couldn't keep listening to him. You needed to get out of there.
"I'll go deliver my sound," you said before quickly leaving. You could feel everyone's eyes on you as you walked away, causing the anxiety to take over you.
The Heartsteel members glared at Kayn. Everyone was confused by his asshole attitude. It wasn't new of him, but they had never seen him act like that with you. Yone was the one who was the most pissed off.
"What are you doing?" Yone asked as he crossed his arms.
“Nothing, I just said that I won't be able to go bowling tonight,” Kayn answered obviously as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.
"Don't act oblivious." Yone scoffed, approaching him suddenly. K’Sante stepped between them to prevent the situation getting physical.
"Guys, we just signed a contract, we can't fight now." K'Sante said trying to lighten the situation.
"I didn’t do anything. I don't know why you care so much," Kayn said, ignoring his friend's comment.
"It's obvious you tried to hurt her," Yone said, pointing out his clear intentions.
"Good for you. This way you'll have another excuse to go out with her," Kayn barked. Aphelios rolled his eyes when he discovered the reason for his attitude.
"I knew it was about that," Yone said, walking away from K'Sante to make it clear that he had no intention of fighting.
"If I had known you would act like an idiot, I wouldn't have helped her," he said seriously. Kayn was surprised to hear that.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He asked, calmer, but still tense.
"You'll have to listen to it yourself." Yone said before heading to one of the sound booths with Aphelios. Kayn just watched them in disbelief, still processing the information he had just heard.
"Kayn, you must set your pride aside or it will eat you alive," K'Sante advised him before patting him on the shoulder a couple of times. Kayn felt lost. He didn't even know what he was doing or why he was doing it.
Your mind was a mess. You hadn't stepped foot into the ring and you had already been knocked out. How had you gotten to this point? A few months ago, Kayn was just another cute boy and it was enough for you to just see him from time to time at school. Now you were here, holding back the urge to cry to avoid ruining the makeup you had done for him and that he didn't even appreciate. You were waiting for your turn to perform while you were tempted by the idea of going home. “I'll just play and leave” you thought as you prepared the guitar.
"You look nervous," someone next to you commented. It was Kayn. You dodged his gaze so he wouldn't see you sad.
"I'm fine," you lied. He realized. “Now she is really upset?” he thought worried. You weren't just upset, you were disappointed in yourself. How could you be so stupid to think you had a chance just because you were talking to him now?
"I like to think that I am in a place that I really like when I perform. Just think that you are practicing there and you will be fine," He advised you as he patted your head.
Given the intimate move, you decided to take a peek at him. Kayn was smiling at you. This time it wasn't a mocking or flirtatious smile, it was a genuine and calm one. He was proud of you. Now you remembered why you had worked so hard on the performance. You wanted to see that look he was giving you in that precise moment. “Please never stop looking at me like that” you thought.
The host brought you back to reality. Your turn had finally arrived. You took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. The applause of the audience received you warmly as you positioned yourself in the center with your guitar. You glanced at Kayn, who looked at you expectantly. “A place that I really like…” you quoted, thinking about the music room. You imagined yourself sitting on the bench with Kayn in front of you, waiting for you to play the first note.
♫ This is the last chance. The only one where my soul overflows. ♫
Your fingers trembled as soon as you started, but you tried to maintain your composure. The drums sounded behind you so that your guitar was the center of attention and the piano accompanied your voice. The beating of your heart agitated you but the memories with Kayn calmed you.
♫ Want to look you in the eyes. You are the lust that never managed to satisfy. ♫
Kayn watched you from the side, not believing what his ears were listening to. His eyes went up and down observing your anatomy. He wanted to tattoo your image in his mind so that he would never forget it. Kayn was speechless, but he didn't want to say anything because he just wanted to listen to you.
♫ My engine revs when you're around. You set me on fire and I consume myself again. ♫
"She worked really hard on it," Yone mentioned approaching Kayn as music exploded from the speakers. Kayn looked at him stunned.
"You knew," He said, finally completing the entire puzzle with the pieces in the correct places.
"She composed it herself. I just helped with the instrumentalization," Yone explained without taking his eyes off you like a proud teacher.
"We never went on a date. She's crazy for you," he continued. Kayn just smiled at that.
♫ Give me a kiss, I’m only asking for one, my love. ♫
You sang from your heart. You no longer cared if Kayn stopped talking to you and left with the captain. You finally felt free. More than singing, you proclaimed each verse you had written with a passion that you didn't know you had inside. You loved Kayn, you loved him very much and you wouldn't stop loving him until he gave you a good reason to do so. You wanted to be always with him even if you were just friends.
♫ Stop my suffering. Stay with me. ♫
You played the last note and the applause rained down on you, but there was only one that truly mattered. You looked at Kayn applauding you, not caring if his hands were hurt from the impact. A sigh of relief escaped from your lips when you saw that he liked it.
You returned backstage to more applause coming from your classmates and Heartsteel. You smiled shyly as you placed the guitar on your back.
"Wow, you really know how to rock!" Sett exclaimed, fascinated.
"Thank you, I wouldn't have done it without Yone," you acknowledged him before looking at Kayn, making it clear to him that there was nothing between you.
"You looked amazing, I knew you would do great," Kayn said before ruffling your hair in a friendly manner. You couldn't help but smile at the attention he was giving you.
"Finally, what everyone has been waiting for! Let's welcome Heartsteel to the stage!" The host announced.
"It's our turn!" Sett said excitedly as the members walked out onto the fierce stage. Kayn stayed back for a second.
"I want you to look at me," Kayn requested seriously before following them. You could only nod obediently.
♫ Two sides to a story, but they never tell my side. Never been the kinda guy to stay inside the guidelines. ♫
The iconic melody began to play. The audience went crazy and people were singing excitedly. Several of your classmates crowded next to you to watch the performance. “Kayn looks great as always” you thought as you watched him rap with his cool flow.
"I love you, Kayn!" A girl next to you shouted that you didn't see before because you were stunned by Kayn's performance.
It was the captain. Kayn's girl. “Here we go again…” you thought before the avalanche of insecurities took over your body again. While listening to Paranoia, you realized something. “I already did what I had to do, now I can go home” you thought as you turned around and disappeared among the tsunami of students.
♫ They prayin' for the death of the rockstar. ♫
The song ended. The members' ears were greeted by the roar of the public. Everyone was happy, even Kayn... until he realized that you weren't among the people applauding. You had abandoned him. A panic sensation took over his body and he needed to act immediately. He didn't hesitate to run off the stage to go after you.
“You're so dumb, it's like you've never dealt with a woman before!” he thought, annoyed with himself before leaving the auditorium. His eyes searched for you in panic. If he let you go, he would lose you. He ran all over campus looking for you. He was grateful to have an athletic body so he could run at full speed after an energetic performance.
He finally left campus and saw you sitting on a bench waiting for the bus that would take you home. You looked sad, as if you were holding back tears. Kayn ran over to you and pulled you out of your seat so you would get up.
"I told you... to look… at me!" He said angrily with his voice cracking from fatigue. You were so shocked by the state he was in that you forgot you were about to cry. He was bathed in sweat, his hair was messy, and he had lost one of his piercings.
"But I did see you, you did great," You said, confused. His hands wrapped around your wrists tightly carefully so he wouldn’t hurt you. It was like he was afraid you would run away again.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, catching his breath.
"I'm going home. What are you doing here? The captain must be waiting for you," You asked, still confused. Kayn took a deep breath and looked into your eyes. He was ready to confess his crimes.
"I lied. I don't have a date tonight. I was just jealous of Yone and wanted to make you feel the same. I'm sorry," He confessed heavily, feeling guilty for his actions.
"What?" Your eyes widened at that unexpected revelation.
"The girl is from my class and is a Heartsteel fan. She wanted help getting closer to Yone," he sounded like he regretted his actions, as if he were about to cry as well. You couldn't believe what you were hearing.
"You look so hot. You have no idea how much I wanted to tell you," he said with a mischievous smile as if that was going to fix something when you were still more lost than a child alone in a busy mall on Christmas.
"What?" You repeated, not knowing what to say. Kayn took your hand and pulled you to him.
"Let's go somewhere more private." He said as he guided you.
The school was empty because everyone was in the auditorium. Kayn ended up leading you to the music room. It was becoming a habit for both to meet there from time to time. A custom that, unfortunately, would last only a little longer. You left your guitar in the entryway as you watched Kayn trying to find the best words to start the conversation.
"Do you know why my relationships don't last?" He asked, embarrassed.
“Don't say it, don't say it '' you repeated to yourself in your mind. You knew perfectly well the reason. His girlfriends didn't last long because he had a mad personality. You had listened to Rhaast complain about his countless girlfriends for over two years, thinking how lucky you were to not fall into his charisma. Oh, how the tables turn, huh?
"Because you are... an idiot?" You finally responded. “Shit, I said it!” You scolded yourself. Kayn let out a malicious chuckle.
"An idiot you wrote a song for," He finished off and destroyed you. You felt like your soul detached from your body and it didn't know how to get back. Your head hang in surrender.
"Did Yone tell you?" You asked with a thin voice.
"In the end, I was right. You're crazy for me," he said, still smiling to himself, but his serious expression returned when he remembered why he had brought you in the first place. It wasn't time to flirt.
"But you're right, I'm an asshole. That's why everyone cuts me off when they realize. I'm not patient, I'm rude, I hate a lot of people, I drive like a maniac, I don't like being bombarded with attention but I also don't like not being given attention, and well, you know, a lot of other things..." He explained, still embarrassed. This caused him to recap in his mind every girlfriend he had in the past.
"Most girls approach me because of how cool I look and am, but they break up with me when they realize who I really am," he explained.
He also explained that this not only happened with girls, but also with ex friends. He told you that he used to be in another band before Heartsteel and that they kicked him out because he was a “troublemaker.” It was the first time you saw Kayn open up in such a way. He finally felt comfortable enough to vent to you.
"Then I met you. We've been talking for two years and you never judged me when I thought I could never change who I am. Today you showed me that I can. I just needed motivation to do so, and that's you," he said before reaching out to take your hands. It was something he had done before, but this time felt different. It's like he was finally holding a valuable and fragile object.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, it's just that I couldn't bear losing you like the others. You are the most important person in my life," he said as he tenderly caressed your knuckles with his thumbs.
The information was still being processed in your mind. You didn't know how to react, you still couldn't believe that Kayn thought that way about you. You were relieved that you at least had a special place in Kayn's mind, in his heart you didn't know, but in his mind it was obvious.
His hands cupped your flushed cheeks. Kayn looked into your eyes, then lowered his gaze for a second to your lips and then brought it back up again. His thumbs caressed your skin with a tenderness you didn't think he was capable of.
"I want you to be by my side forever," He whispered so that you were the only person in the world who could hear him. Your heart began to jump with joy upon hearing that your most precious wish was being granted to you.
His touch felt like a dream, his eyes gave you warmth and his words were full of hope. You whispered his name, letting him know that you wanted the same thing. Kayn bravely reduced the distance between you. His lips brushed against yours and you felt like your feet were no longer touching the ground.
Kissing Kayn was like sailing through a storm. His kisses were fierce and volatile but his hands running along your waist gave you security so you could enjoy the adrenaline. You hugged him by the neck to get closer to him, melting into each other. Kayn deepened the kiss, causing you to step back until your back hit the wall behind you.
Even though he already had experience with other girls, Kayn was enjoying every second as if it were his first time. Their lips moved in sync as if you had done this before. He didn't hesitate to stick his tongue inside your mouth which caught you off guard because you didn't have much experience, but you trusted him and just let yourself go.
Kayn ran his hands over your body without any shame. He didn't care at all if anyone saw you, he wanted to enjoy that first kiss to the fullest. The fingers of his right hand tickled your hips while the other one grabbed your butt tightly. It was the first time Kayn felt so grateful with the gods to be with someone as cool and patient as you.
"Kayn, don't do that... Ouch!" You scolded him as soon as he bit your neck. He coldly planned to leave you a deep purple hickey for everyone to see. You tried to stop him but the vampire didn't want to leave your neck alone. He only stopped because his phone started ringing. He reluctantly moved away from your neck to answer. It was Ezreal.
"Hey, Kayn! Where are you?! We won the cont-!" Kayn hung up on him because he had more important matters to attend to.
"Kayn! Don't give me a hickey! My mom can see it!" You scolded him as he looked at you tenderly. He couldn't take you seriously when your face looked like a tomato. He silenced you with another kiss that you gladly received.
Finally, he was all yours. You have achieved it, how? You still didn't know exactly how but you were happy with the result even though you thought he was out of your league.

Jealous Vander headcanons? Maybe also how he would feel about moments when reader is jealous? 👀
Just a wee little drabble on some Vander headcanons here - not giving this one a huge amount of structure like with my normal headcanons, I hope this is okay!! This has been sitting with me for a little while, so I wanted to FINALLY get my thoughts down!
CW: Vague mentions/description of catcalling
Tumblr media
Vander doesn't tend to get too jealous - at least not outwardly so. It's not usually in his nature, he trusts you enough that you wouldn't make or take any advances from someone without at least discussing it with him first, whatever the situation may end up being.
That being said, there has been one or two instances that he has fallen victim to that green-eyed stare of the beast of jealousy. One of these had been on a late shift in the Last Drop - you had been giving him a hand in collecting the metallic steins that previous patrons had left lying about the place once they had finished with them. One particularly inebriated patron had started yelling at you from a few tables over - this wasn't too unusual, unless you started to listen to what they were saying. Some very explicit fantasies made their way out of the patron's mouth, for the whole tavern to hear. Most ignored it, but of course... Vander could not, not when it was directed at you.
What made it worse was that you seemed to be smiling at the patron. This was mostly, on your part, to keep the patron calm and happy, and not cause any more of a scene. Of course, Vander hadn't realised this, and something entirely unfamiliar to him. It consumed his chest, feeling like fire in his blood.
Before he knew it - and he barely even though about it whilst he was doing it - he was charging forward, putting himself between you and the patron. His arms were folded over his chest, and his glare was one that hadn't settled on his face for quite a few years now. All eyes were on him.
"Get out." His voice was low, threatening. It meant business. "What?" The patron slurred, eventually meeting his eyes, as they narrowed further. "Get. Out. I've had enough." And with that, his patience ran out. He grabbed the patron's shirt and dragged them to the door. He'd likely let them in again in a few days time, once his temper had settled.
You'd had to pull Vander aside and explain to him why you were smiling at the patron, and then his mind had begun to clear a bit. He understood, and felt... Guilty. He had no idea what had caused him to react like that, with such aggression. Well, he did... But he'd never reacted to something like that in that fashion before. It was strange.
From that day on, Vander tries to keep his jealousy in check. You both talk often about things like that, making sure nothing is kept from one another, communicating openly if something bothers one of you.
on the other hand, when you're jealous, for whatever reason, he finds it cute. He laughs a little bit at the prospect of you becoming so fiery over him, but deep down he knows you'll both need to discuss it, and that you do. He never intends to make you feel that way when he's talking to someone, and really appreciates when you tell him how or why you feel certain ways!

the air inside of stillwater always had a way of trapping you. heavy and stifling it clung to your skin, mercilessly coating it with dew. although at times it felt more treacherous, seeping its way into your lungs, offering you just the slightest glimpse of your grim future. in many ways it stood in for the steel bars of your confinement, making your situation even direr.
the hallways reeked of something metallic— it could’ve been blood, rust from the decrepit bars, or the scent of pure fear. as you passed by each cell the stench seemed to vary, with some spaces emitting more fear than others. despite this, you weren’t afraid— at least not in the way you should’ve been. you knew your fate, and it involved the red-headed pariah at the far end of the hall.
truly, nobody knew anything about anyone— but there was much mystique surrounding inmate 516. you only knew her name and even that could’ve been up for debate. there wasn’t much emphasis on them, in fact, most of the time you forgot your own. yet within those, it didn’t matter and for as long as you existed inside them you were inmate 601.
slowly, her cell came into view. it looked bleaker than you’d ever imagined. a small, dreary voice echoed rang throughout your mind— and it urged you to turn back. the voice was relentless, it pleaded and cried. desperately attempting to persuade you to fall to your knees before the guards and beg for forgiveness. it only grew louder and for a moment you nearly gave in.
“keep moving 601,” the guard to your left spoke with a low, gruff voice. the other sent a sharp push to your shoulder sending you straight toward the front of the cell. you could feel the menacing smirks grazing their lips, wanting nothing more than to taunt you. after all, it was your fault for ending up there in the first place. this new living situation served as a reminder of it and the purplish bruise under your eye served as a reminder of it.
“on your feet, inmate,” the second guard barked, yet the order wasn’t directed at you. a muscular figure approached the bars, and slivers of fiery red hair emerged from the dark. you could almost make out her face and although you’d seen it numerous times before it was a lot softer than you’d imagined.
vi wrapped her hands around the steel bars, revealing the blood-stained bandages over them. she leaned forward, grayish-blue eyes quickly darting toward your face. after a moment her soft features hardened, allowing for her hard exterior to truly take shape. her eyes bore deep holes in yours prompting a rigid chill up your spine.
she spat, “the fuck is this…?” but no response was given. rather the men laughed at her question, obnoxiously so.
behind you the other guard leaned in, slowly un-cuffing as he whispered, “word of advice 601….try not to fall asleep.” he then produced a set of keys that would open the door to your new reality. the metal emitted a loud creek that traveled throughout the hallway. with another hard nudge, you were shoved into the small space. the hard clanging sound of the bars following suit.
you were left with nothing but the distinct unwelcoming silence that pervaded the cell. vi hardly spared you a second glance. she sauntered back over to the corner, continuing on as if you didn’t even exist. hence, the mystical aura that surrounded her persisted— and you had no way of knowing how to break it. thus you settled for simply chipping away at the tough exterior. with a deep breath, you stepped towards the lower bunk.
“what are you doing?”
“sitting down,” you chirped. her voice was low and hostile— it took everything in you not to shoot right back up. despite this you kept yourself planted on the flimsy mattress. ignoring the small voice making its way to the surface.
begrudgingly she stepped toward you, “that’s my bed.” the aggression was still present in her voice but you couldn’t help but detect the slight amusement in it as well. and for some odd reason, you found it intriguing— only fueling your curiosity.
“so?”
“…i can’t tell if you’re trying to be brave or just really stupid,” she whispered.
now vi stood just a few feet away yet her presence was stronger than ever. the only source of light was a dim lantern outside of the cell and it allowed you to partially capture vi’s face— and the rest of her. she was notorious for getting into fights but now that you were up close you certainly saw why. her arms and legs were sculpted by hard, defined muscles that seemed to flex without the slightest care. in a matter of your seconds, you’d found yourself completely warped in them and it was vi’s stern voice that pulled you out.
“i heard what you did— that fight in the cafeteria? why?” her entire being practically loomed over you. calloused hands gripped the frame on the top bunk as she bent over to face you. the distance was more than intimidating— it was domineering. it corroborated the long-standing rumors and it only made her seem more like a mystery. yet the longer you looked into her eyes the more you held out hope that your cellmate was more than just a ruthless murderer.
“it was the only way to get close to you.” slowly you rose from the bed, diminishing the already non-existent distance down to nothing. vi kept her arm planted on the metal, caging you in between it. her eyes darted in between yours and her expression remaining unreadable. the air seemed to thicken and for a moment it felt impossible to breathe.
vi’s voice was light and almost condescending. her soft lips to brushed along the side of your ear, “you got yourself thrown in the worst part of this shithole because you have a crush on me? jesus…maybe you are stupi—“
“it’s more complicated than that.”
she smirked, “then explain it to me, roomie.” she turned on her heel slowly ambling along the decaying wall, back over to her side of the room. as much you hated to admit you missed the proximity. it’d been so long since you’d experienced what it felt like to be touched by another person. and although she wouldn’t dare utter it aloud vi regretted pulling away.
“you haven’t heard, have you? most people think you’re some kind of monster or a martyr waiting to die. which is why you’ve been here for so long.”
“what do you think?”
“i don’t believe either,” you admitted. she kept most of her face turned away, thus your only view was the dark, intricate tattoo designs that ran across her soft skin. the longer she stood there the more you wanted to run your fingers over each one. and the desire was persistent— at that moment you wanted nothing more than to touch her. despite your judgment, you stepped forward, fighting the urge to do so.
it was evident that she didn’t trust you and you couldn’t blame her for it. vi had simply existed within stillwater for years but she didn’t really have anyone. the abuse from the guards was relentless and if she wasn’t in fights then she was here— in this poor excuse for a cell. she kept her arms bound to her sides, clenching her fists for dear life. therefore there was no way she was going to open up to you— especially not like this.
“i wanna tell you about how i got here…if you don’t mind?”
“i don’t have anywhere else to be,” she shrugged, a slight smile tugging on her lips. cautiously you moved towards vi once again, joining her on the opposite wall.
“a few years ago some of my friends and i thought we could pull off this heist. the plan was that we’d steal some piltover’s most beloved riches and in doing so we’d become legends— maybe even rich.”
“you can’t be serious,” she chuckled, filling the room with her quiet but infectious laughter. it was something that was so rare that it nearly shocked you. yet the sound was beautiful, sending a swarm of butterflies to the pit of your stomach.
you cleared your throat, “unfortunately i am, my adolescent years were a very dark time for me, alright? anyway, the day comes and i get there, i wait for god knows how long but they never show up. just when i’m about to leave these enforcers show up and they practically tackle me to the ground— i still have the scar. next thing i know i’m detained for a robbery that i never even got the chance to commit.”
“they let you go down for it?” she turned to face you, her breath lightly fanning your cheek. silently you nodded, keeping your eyes focused ahead. you couldn’t shake off the warm feeling that accompanied being under vi’s gaze. it made your conversation feel even more like a dream. but most of all it made you feel safe.
“most people suck, you learn that early. but if it makes you feel any better i wish that i’d met you earlier,” she sighed.
“why?”
“we would’ve come up with a much better plan- and we would’ve gotten away with it too,” she boasted, moving a couple of red strands from her face. you couldn’t help but admire even if it was just for a moment. small, reddish-pink bruises took shape along the sides of her face. despite this, her eyes looked brighter than ever and for the life of you, you didn’t have the willpower to look away— and neither did vi.
“can i see it? the scar?” she asked. her voice, smoother than ever was the only deterrent to your rampant dreams. dreams that consisted of your cellmate in ways that you preferred to keep to yourself. nevertheless, you lifted the hem of your shirt, revealing the entire left side of your abdomen.
“it’s dark, i can't see.” hesitantly you reached for her bruised hand. bringing it to your rib ever so slowly as you searched for the rough exterior of your wound. after a while you let go, allowing vi the chance to roam unassisted. the gesture was small but it brought both of you more comfort than the other would truly know.
“vi, why are you here?” you hummed, leaning into her soft touch as she caressed the skin along your abdomen. her fingers traveled upward, brushing the underside of your tits. the hair along the sensitive skin rose with each slow trace of vi’s fingertips.
“i don’t know y/n,” she whispered. she moved her other hand from her side bringing it to your aching body. despite the same desire that plagued vi’s body there was no hurry for her. she took her time basking in each part of the process.
“how’s that possible?”
“you piss off the wrong people i guess,” she chuckled, an apparent melancholic tone laced in her voice. you wanted to push further, ask her more questions but your mind couldn’t have been further from it. you needed vi more intimately than you’d ever expected and now you had nowhere to run.
“you’re so soft….” vi cooed, running the pad of her thumb over your nipple. she took used the other hand to knead your breast. her movements although minuscule drew shied moans from your lips that shot straight to vi’s core.
you purred, “do you know what that’s like?” she stopped for a moment, her eyes trailing up to meet yours. they glimmered even without the presence of a real source of light. she was desperate and it was so easily detectable just from the way that she looked back at you. she was tired of being alone and you wanted to tell— no show her that she didn’t have to be.
you cupped your hands to the sides of her face pulling her in for a kiss. at first, is was slow, but soon it escalated vi allowed her hands to roam up and down your body as your tongue slipped into her mouth, deepening the kiss even further. she reached for your shirt, roughly pulling it off your head. her lips immediately found your chest, peppering fiery kisses all over your tits. she pulled it into her mouth, cupping it gently as her lips wrapped around your nipple.
“i wanna show you something,” you muttered. slowly you brought your hand to vi’s lower abdomen keeping it there until she gave you approval. with one glance down at you, vi nodded, prompting you to sink your hand into her pants and underwear. the pad of your index finger connected with her clit first, sending a wintry chill up her spine.
“are you sure?” rather than responding she ushered her hips forward, humming at the warm contact. thus you took it as a sign to continue. you drew small circles, applying just the slightest amount of pressure. vi felt as if her entire body was being set ablaze with each part of it experiencing pleasure right after the next.
“i-i need more y/n,” she whimpered, clutching onto you. her hushed moans permeated the room, growing more fervent as you slipped a finger inside of her. low squelching sounds filled your ears the more you continued, pressing upwards. gradually your fingers became slick with her fluids and vi nearly incoherent.
you moved your lips to her neck, running your tongue along the skin. vi wanted to cry out, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d experienced anything like this. it was something so out of her control yet she loved every second of it.
“fuck—“ she choked out, her nails sinking into your skin. her heart was beating rapidly and fresh tears brimmed the corners of her eyes yet you showed no signs of slowing down. you slipped yet another finger into her pussy curling them at just the right angle. you targeted her g-spot wanting nothing more than for her to unravel against you.
“y/n— i’m- i can't.”
“tell me….” you cooed, pursuing a devilish pace. vi could feel her legs slowly losing feeling. her core burned with an insatiable ache that would soon consume her and she didn’t know how to express it.
“….tell me you what you want, violet.” she shook violently against you, burying her face into your neck yet you refused to stop— not until she said so.
“oh fuck— y/n, i’m gonna come.” vi’s cries filled your ears delightfully. she grasped onto your body tightly as the pit in her stomach came undone. fluids soaked your hand as well as the fabric of her uniform. patiently you eased her down from the high, running your arms along the art etched into her skin.
soon after she pulled away, discarding her wet pants before taking a seat on her bunk. she gestured for you to come to sit by her, sliding over to make room for you.
“…just so you know this is still my bed.”
you threw your hands up in defeat, flinging yourself onto the mattress beside her, “i surrender.”
for a while, the two of you sat alongside each other. there was something particularly comforting about unspoken comfort that vi seemed to understand better than anyone. in just a few hours your entire perception of her had been flipped on its side.
now? you had who idea what vi was except for the fact that you had to learn more. yet it wasn’t the things you’d originally set out on knowing, like her crimes or how long her prison sentence was. rather you wanted to learn small things, the parts that most people viewed as pointless. you wanted to know where she was from, her favorite color, what music did she like— if she even liked music?
vi shifted closer to you, her knees lightly brushing against yours as her eyes roamed over you. she leaned in close, pulling your attention back towards her.
“hey, what are you thinking about?” she asked. you turned to face her, bringing your thumb to the side of her face. she gazed back, her eyes holding the same amount of light as they did before.
“even after all of that…you’re still a mystery to me.”

Jinx whistled as she bounced from one end of her room to the other, occasionally checking herself in the mirror, making sure her hair stays behind her ear and that that defiant lock of hair stays in its place over the side of her face. "Looking good Jinx! Yeah? Thanks Jinx!" She made phew-phew noise when she flashed finger-guns at the mirror.
"What do you have to look nice for?" Jinx spun around at the sound of Caitlyn's voice, one hand still doing the finger guns and now pointed at Caitlyn's chest. "Date night tonight?"
"Yeah! Luxie is visiting!" It was odd how normal of a conversation the two could have now, even with a gesture that could be taken as threatening. Jinx hummed and then chuckled when Caitlyn didn't flinch as the phew sound she made, "Kidding, kidding! I'd never shoot you Tophat."
"What's that about shooting my wife?" Vi appeared at the door, leaning against it, arms crossed over her chest. Jinx dropped the finger-guns instantly, looking very much like a scolded child whose fun was ruined.
Caitlyn chuckled and pated her sister-in-law on the head, "She's getting ready to meet Lux."
"Oh, wondered why you had those fancy pants on. Although the pink dye might take away from the black but hey, I'm not the fashion police." No she was the... not at all regular kind who was married to the Sheriff of Piltover. And the sister of a former most wanted criminal.
"Oh I'm not worried about the pants, it's this damn tie." Jinx gestured to the silver and blue tie around her wrist.
"I hate to ask... but why is that around your wrist?"
"Cause it was damn annoying trying to tie it around my neck. Besides I think the suit looks better without it. Really brings out... er... my eyes." Everything brings out the link in Jinx's eyes, which is why it was so easy for her to shop around. "Now if the two of you would excuse me, I'm gonna go meet my girlfriend, who I will then smooch and-"
Vi pulled her out the door, "Have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't and always remember to wrap it up." Her open palm collided with Jinx's back making the pyromaniac wheeze.
"Wrap what up? Gods you're gross sometimes." Jinx ran out right as Caitlyn put her hand over Vi's mouth. She was already freaking out, no matter how many years she spent in Piltover, or going back and forth to and from Zaun, she got looks. They were worse in Piltover though.
But they never made Jinx want to hide who she was. She knew she looked odd when she had all the pink on her outfit, the tie around the wrist, her hair in a ponytail that almost dragged against the floor. She didn't care that there was a group of people approaching her with frowns on their faces. She didn't care because Lux would be here soon.
Meanwhile in Demacia, one blonde mage was getting the talk from her own sister-in-law. "Remember, always go for the eyes first, groin second, and then the stomach. They can't hit you if they can't see." Katarina just finished zipping up Lux's blue dress. She wanted to match Jinx's hair, yes she was that sappy.
"When you said you wanted to have a talk about protection this isn't what I thought you meant." It was less embarrassing than the alternative, she would admit that.
"Neither of you have the proper equipment for the other type of protection. Besides this is universal knowledge, and you know how protective Garen is over you." Katarina weaved her hands through Lux's hair, getting rid of any knots in it.
"She's right. It's either that or you take guards with you." Garen's laugh boomed across the room from his spot in the chair. "Sorry Lux, it's hard for me to... I know you can handle yourself but I'm your big brother, I'll always worry about you."
Lux sighed as she leaned against the chair, she knew her brother meant well but he was a grow woman. At least Katarina was here to keep him in check, to an extent, except that one time she told Jinx she would cut off her tongue after she made a crude joke.
Was it a joke if there was truth to it?
"Thank you both for your concern but I'll be alright. It's Piltover, it's not as chaotic as Zaun." Only a small lie on Lux's part, anywhere Jinx went there was chaos. The dosage just varied. Something about that made her excited, she never knew what to expect, it made her get-togethers with her girlfriend more exciting.
She fixed her skirt and looked at herself one more time. That was as good as it was gonna get. Luckily she never ran late, she could teleport.
"I'll see you tomorrow!" She kissed both Katarina and her brother on the cheeks and teleported out and into the busy streets. "Sorry, sorry!" Lux dodged the people but not the puzzled looks. They seemed to relax once they saw the Demacian symbol on her right glove. "Jinx?" She looked around the restaurant where they were supposed to meet, she wasn't there. Odd. Maybe she got the place wrong? Should she ask-
"Fucking crazy bitch!" A woman ran out to the street, her cheek bruised.
"Huh? Are you okay?" Lux ran to her right away, voice and face conveying worry.
"People should ask her that!" The lady pointed into the alleyway. Lux peaked her head past the corner and her heart stopped.
There was Jinx, beating the living shit out of a guy who hung limp in her hand, with two more groaning in pain, one against the wall, one with his face in the dirt. She didn't know if Jinx was hurt, or how much of the blood on her clothes and fists was hers. But she knew she had to make her stop right now.
"Jinx!" Lux ran towards her but the Jinx didn't stop, even though she turned to face her.
"Flashlight. You're here!" Jinx smirked while blood covered her face, her eyes shining pink, "I've been waiting for you." The scary part was how while she was talking she kept punching and punching, spraying more blood onto herself and the ground.
"Jinx stop!" Lux lunged forward to pull her back but even restrained Jinx could still kick him in the face with her boots. "Hey, hey, Jinx, darling, look at me." She grabbed Jinx's face and forced her to look into her eyes. "Whatever they said, they're not worth this." She gestured for the group to leave while they could still walk.
The two who could still walk lifted the one who fell free from Jinx's hand and began dragging him away, quickly joined by the lady who ran out before. "Bitch should lay off the Shimmer."
Jinx grit her teeth until they bleed, but she held onto Lux as hard as she could to ground herself. Her whole body shook with adrenaline and anger, every sound becoming too much, too loud, every voice real or not overlaying in her ears. "Shhh, it's okay Jinx, you're gonna be okay, let's just take you home okay?"
"No, we got a date. I even got a tie. Oh... it's all bloody." She pouted, more upset at the blood getting on her tie than how it got there.
People quickly gathered around and started to stare, which wasn't good. Jinx was already a bloody mess and she didn't need the extra attention. Thinking quickly Lux opened another portal and leaned into it. She wasn't too picky with where in Jinx's room they appeared so she promptly tripped into Jinx's bed, getting blood all over it and her dress.
"Skipping right to the fun stuff huh? I can work with that." Lux tried not to shiver when Jinx ran her bloody hands up her legs, "You look like a nicely wrapped gift. Can't want to see what's underneath."
"Uh, maybe after we get these clothes cleaned up." The rejection visibly hurt and for the first time Jinx looked down at herself, then at her hands and then at Lux who was now on her elbows, looking up at her with pretty, yet worried eyes.
Jinx turned her head away in shame.
"Let's get you cleaned up." It was very easy to move her now, she followed along without resistance. Jinx allowed Lux to take her suit jacket off and wipe the blood of her face and fists. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"What's there to talk about now? I ruined our date. And you... you came all the way here just to see me... I'm sorry Lux." Jinx wrapped her arms loosely around Lux's hips and leaned her forehead against her stomach. Lux knew her girlfriend was very upset when she used her name instead of one of her nicknames. "Let me make it up to you. I'll do anything you want." Jinx's voice was on the verge of breaking, she couldn't stop glancing around every now and then.
Anyone would be pained to see their lover in this state, so if Jinx needed to be reassured then that was what Lux would do, "I just want to know what happened that upset you so much." To provide some comfort she eased herself into Jinx's lap and wrapped her into a soothing hug. "I just want you to be alright."
It was probably minutes of silence but it seemed to drag on and on like hours.
"They asked how desperate you were to be with someone like me. I'm not an idiot, I know you could do better then an an ex-terrorist, and it's pretty easy to find someone who doesn't have Shimmer running through them all day. I can take the looks, the hits, the insults, but I can't take it when they drag you into it too."
So that was it. Jinx got angry on her behalf.
"While I appreciate you standing up for me, you shouldn't have beat them bloody. People like that will tell you anything to get a rise out of you." As a mage Lux heard more than her fair share of colorful insults. All behind her back of course, she was still a Crownguard. Those insults got to be few and far between the more time she spent protecting Demacia but it sickened her that she had to be of some kind of use for people to accept her for who she was.
"But... they were a bunch of jerks! I would've..." Lux interrupted her with a kiss, a very delightful surprise to be sure. Lux's lips were always so damn soft against Jinx's she could not get enough of them.
"Gone to jail. That's what could have happened. I know your sister and her wife are the Enforcers but there's only so much they can do for you." Jinx could tell how worried Lux was about her, about what she knew Jinx was capable of. "I love you Jinx, I want you to be okay, so please, no more fights like that."
"Can I yell at them at least? I have some really good insults." She had some stored up since her days of hating Caitlyn. They were good.
Lux chuckled and bumped her forehead against Jinx's, "Sure. I'd love to hear them too, so make sure I'm around." She loved it when Jinx cursed.
"Yeah? You like me saying bad stuff?" Due to Lux's prim and proper upbringing she had a real taste for dirty talk, it might even go so far as to be a kink of hers. One that Jinx regularly made her blush over, like right now when she had to hide her face by pushing Jinx down and pushing her own face into the pillow. "Gonna dirty talk your panties off tonight."
They were already coming off and Jinx didn't even have to try.

IN THE SHADOWS. 🌊
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"14 years", he said
"i couldn't look into the sun".
— kayn x reader, made this for my dearest friend @spierredalay i wouldn't be shit without u tysm for everything ilysm babes. <3 it's very short and i'm really disappointed in how it turned out but i was writing this and sleeping at once T__T
Tumblr media
he lived in the shadows. he himself was a shadow. it was his home - no entity would be able to deprive him of the darkness. so, that's where kayn used to stay all the time. shunned from the very beginning of his existence, forced to cruelty at young age, the murkiness was something that he could count on. the dark was the only stable thing in his life, as it would never leave.
the whole ordeal with rhaast only doubled his gloominess. well, what else could he expect? with a war raging inside of him, demon-like creature trying to take over his body - there was no place for light. but even with the demonic creature possessing him, he found bits of comfort in the shadows. hearing the mocking laugh was way easier to ignore and bear without the light.
light could symbolise gods - and that was something that he'd stay away from. even though he defied his noxian roots and embraced the ionian culture, kayn still remained sceptic. gods have left him to rot, and that was obvious. which god would even allow this to happen? the wars, the destruction... which deity would be proud of such things happening under its watch? the logical answer is none, but even kayn, especially kayn knows that even the unbelievable things are bound to happen either way.
one of such things would be falling in love - the idea of stripping oneself of everything and giving all to the other person was a thought repulsing enough for kayn. there was no place to put trust into other person in his grim life. was he even capable of gentleness in the first place? an obvious answer - no. what if he lost control of himself and rhaast would permanently be in charge? the idea alone was hardy bearable, but thinking what would the cruel darkin do to his significant other... this was enough to make him reject all close relationships - except the one with his master, obviously. and soon, there was another exception.
you. even though he put walls all around him and he kept you as far away as possible, you didn't back down and still remained at his side, no matter how far he would go to do anything to make you realise he isn't good for you, but his playful façade only attracted you more. after all, even though he really wanted to be left alone and return to his comfortably numb darkness, kayn couldn't let go of his pride. but once, he went too far - almost slicing you with his scythe, stopping himself moments before disaster. seeing your terrified gaze made kayn feel something he never felt before; actual longing and pain. despite the darkin trying to argue, he threw the weapon away and engrossed you in his embrace.
and from that day on - you've stepped onto the path of relentless pursuit of the greatness, but also of a world made purely out of shadows. being engulfed by the dark mist wasn't as bad as it may sound like, especially when the haze was accompanied by kayn's hands, touching your body in a way you'd never let anyone. on a particularly bad night, he would step out of the wall -with the dark, mystic fog sticking to him just like a tattoo- and lull you to sleep, whispering sweet nothings into your ear and delicately sliding his arms down your sides. nothing has ever been so soothing before, despite the sharpness of his corrupted arm.
and even though in the shadows it was just he, himself, alone - in the wisp of dark, the abyssal land; where no mortal eyes would reach and the luminosity prohibited from entering, as soon as you'll call his name you can be sure kayn will leave his chilly places he calls home to grant every of your wishes, even if it means leaving the comfort of his so-called home, though there is no place that he's rather be at than anywhere with you.

Time travel is pretty op in League, and doubly so in Arcane, the drawbacks might be devastating tho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This exchange always comes to mind because it's so ironic, Ekko does that all the time with the Z-Drive he just doesn't have it right now. For the concept to then be straightforwardly called out as dangerous just screams dark foreshadowing to people (Ekko) who practice it.
Tumblr media
Ekko even has a real voice line where he jokes about the after-effects of time travel.

Unspoken Whispers of the Heart
(Yone x reader)
Yone x reader fic; angst, a bit of fluff if you squint but it’s mostly angst.
Yone is just a perfect angst material
<<edit; Part 2 here >>
Notes:
The scene took place years after the invasion of Noxus in Ionia. You were close to Yone (and Yasuo, I guess) during their sword training period, as one of the members who also worked closely at the dojo. But all relationships pretty much fell apart after you all got separated from the war, until one fateful day you stumbled upon a figure that reminded you of the past.
The story will follow along the canon lore of league of legends, as I prefer to stay close to the original storyline.
This is my first fic so please excuse my grammar mistakes if you happen to found some, I read it a few times before posting but just in case. I hope you enjoy! :D
•~•~•~•
You steadied your breath as you held your wound on your abdomen. You stepped back to lean your body on a tree trunk behind you for support, hiding yourself right below the shadows. Slowly, you took a piece of cloth to and wrapped it around your wound, and looked to the front.
A man stood ahead of you by few metres, his back turned towards you. The demon - the azakana, that had attacked you earlier had dissipated into the air, leaving trails of glowing dust from the place it had just been defeated with a single blow of a blade that belonged to the person in front of you.
This long-haired man wielded two blades; one seemingly glowing in red, the very one that had served the killing blow. The other was a regular katana, already sheathed back into his right hip. His gaze remained fixated to the place where the monster had vanished, before he finally shifted his body to the right.
You flinched slightly as he turned his face slightly to the right, revealing a crimson mask covering his upper face. Two sharp points adorned its edges, his eyes glowing blue as they seemed to be looking at you. That gaze on his eyes — You felt your stomach churn as something, something terribly familiar of whatever this figure had posed reminded you a certain memory from the past. One that you were almost certain you had buried deep enough, untouched.

“Yone—!”
You found yourself in his room, about to wake him up from what seemed to be his recurring nightmare. The room was still dark, the only light source was lit by a small lantern you had brought from your own room. You kneeled on the side of his futon, trying to wake him up when he suddenly rose and grabbed your wrist, preventing it to go any further as if it was any sort of prying hands from his dreams. His breath was ragged, unsteady.
“Yone, it’s alright… it’s me, y/n,” you whispered softly, trying to keep yourself calm at his sudden reaction.
He released his grip on your wrist almost immediately after laying his eyes on you, realizing he was indeed back to the reality.
“Forgive me,” he said, as he glanced at his hand, sighing. He kept his gaze low on the ground, focused on his blanket, his eyes seemingly tired as the night sleep could not offer him the proper rest he deserved.
“It’s alright, Yone. Do you want to talk about it?” You asked gently, keeping your gaze at him.
“…It’s that same crimson-masked creature again and again…”
You went silent, concern filling your eyes as you were not sure how you would comfort him. It was the third time you had heard about this kind of dream from him by now.
You moved closer to him as you placed your hands on top of his, which had been cold to the touch. He looked up at you, meeting your gaze as the warmth from your palm seemed to seep into him, keeping his eyes at you so intently that you could sense the fear and desperation residing deeply within his eyes. He smiled wryly, more directed towards himself, then slowly leaned his body forward to rest his forehead on your shoulder, closing his eyes.
“Please, stay- stay just like this for a while,” he pleaded as you felt his warm breath trickled at the side of your neck. His voice sounded tired, desperate. You felt a twinge of pain in your heart to see him at this state.
You normally would not see this vulnerable side of the man before you during the day, as he always kept his troubles deep inside - a private man by nature, or so you initially thought. But as the time passed, you realized that this responsible man was being too harsh on himself. You had been trying to get him to open up more, to share even the smallest bit of the burdens he was carrying.
However, on this particular night, it seemed he had utterly drained himself – weighed down by the troubles he was carrying, but you were always ready to welcome him at any time.
You brought one of your hand to the back of his head and embraced him fully, closing your eyes in the process.
“I’m here, Yone. I’m always right here.”

The mask of the figure in front of you was eerily similar to the one Yone had described to you from his dreams, and now, whoever - or whatever - was standing in front of you were clearly as dangerous as the one you had imagined, although he did not seem to show any sort of threat towards you, as for now.
You watched him carefully as he put aside his magic-attuned katana, which had seemingly disappeared into the thin air after a quick swing to the side. Your adrenaline kept you cautious of his movements as he slowly approached you, eyes focused on your wound.
“The village’s nearby, you’ll need to heal that s-“
His sentence was abruptly cut short as he stopped midway, his face now looking at you, seemingly frozen in shock. You gazed up to meet his glowing blue eyes, realizing that he was able to see your face in this distance as you tried to figure out whatever had stopped him in his track. It was hard to tell with the mask covering his face in the shadows, and you were sure enough you were backed up against a tree - unless, it had been alive and was trying to eat you ….
You brushed off the crazy thought as you put one hand behind to feel the tree bark, just to make sure.
You kept your gaze at him, scanning his features, unsure what to do. He kept his ground just right in front of you, also seemingly hesitant on doing whatever was on his mind, but he finally backed away and took a step behind.
“Thank you,” you said, realizing that you had been silent for a while. He nodded in response, preparing to leave as he shifted his body to the left.
“W-wait!” You exclaimed, causing him to stop on his track in response.
You felt that you just had to ask, as your thoughts wondered on his mysterious resemblance of his appearance, his origin, and most notably, his uncanny familiarity on his voice, to someone’s voice that you had last heard years ago. It had to be a coincidence… right?
“What - who are you...?” You asked carefully as you leaned slightly forward, scanning his features on his face, realizing that it was actually his left eye - not of the mask, but a human eye - that had glowed blue, slowly dimming unlike his right one. You also noticed a scar on his left cheek, trailing down to his lips.
“What I am - is not your concern,” he replied, voice low and unwavering, standing still on his ground.
You pondered for a moment.
“…Somehow, you remind me of someone I knew.” You began, taking a deep breath as you continued, your eyes glued to the ground. “Someone I cared for … deeply.”
He turned his head to look at you, his eyes piercing into yours. His human eye had softened, now filled with emotions as he felt a trickle of warmth and sorrow residing deep inside him. Feelings that had been lost, forgotten. His right hand, which had been resting casually on top of his sword hilt, gripped the handle tight enough it rattled just a bit, as if he was trying to suppress the flood of emotions rising within him. All you needed to notice, was a glance back up at him, just to see. But you did not, as you remained fixed on the ground. You struggled to find the right words to say, fidgeting by yourself as thousands of thoughts and emotions were rushing through you, but somehow was stuck right at your throat.
“I… see,” he replied. He was desperate enough to keep his emotions in check, his tone flat.
You shook your head lightly and managed a small smile, mostly to yourself.
“But, that might just be me,” you said, deciding not to pry on further, with your wound still untreated. You stood yourself up and readied yourself to go. “Thank you again, stranger.”
You nodded at him politely, expressing your gratitude, and made your way to the open trails, leading to a village nearby.
“Oh, and,” you stopped midways, your back now facing him. “If you happen to see him, please tell him that… I miss him.”
For a moment, you stood there, calming your shaking hands, before continuing forward.
Yone watched your figure disappear further and deeper into the path, until you were no longer in sight. There, he stood, seemingly lost in thought under the night sky.
How he had stopped himself for not rushing to your aid when you were wounded;
How he had been restraining the urge not to put his hand on your face to feel your warm cheeks as you were facing the ground, unsure of what to do;
How he had been holding himself back, not to embrace you from behind, to calm your trembles;
He wondered how he had managed to keep these thoughts to himself, as he knew for a fact that letting you live freely would be much wiser. Nothing would go well tampering with the spirit worlds – much alone a demon hunter.
Lifting his face up to the sky, as if surrendering himself to the cold embrace of the starry night, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“I miss you too.”
