The Sin List
okay, so as we all know, it is vitally important that any character we stan must be morally pure and a good example to emulate in real life.
So I have decided to create a list of MDZS characters and their sins, which everyone can easily refer to in order to make sure that they are not following some horrible criminal or murderer!
This was a lot of work, but I'm very proud of it. Just doing my bit to ensure the moral purity of the fandom!
Wei Wuxian - Necromancy, disrespecting his elders, disrespecting the dead, killed Jin Zixuan, punched Jin Zixuan in the face one time, cannibalism, mind control, deviant sexual fantasies, trespassing, oath-breaking, urged Wen Qing to perform untested and possibly fatal operation on Jiang Cheng without his consent.
Lan Wangji - Defied his elders, broke the Lan Clan rules, sexually assaulted Wei Wuxian, deviant sexual fantasies, GBH (JGY)
Jin Guangyao - betrayed and killed Wen Ruohan, betrayed and killed Jin Guangshan, murder (NMJ), murdered assorted people, disrespecting the dead, assorted Spy Things for Wen Ruohan.
Nie Mingjue - Killed a lot of people during the war, verbally abused Nie Huaisang, burned Nie Huaisang's stuff, attempted murder (JGY), attempted murder (JGY), attempted murder (JGY), murder (JGY), killed the Mo family (well, his arm did anyway). In favor of the genocide of the Wen Remnants
Jin Guanshan: Sexual assault, rape, murder, ordering human experimentation with resentful energy to be done by his sect, played both sides during the war, didn't take responsibility for his children, ultimately responsible for getting WWX killed because he wanted the YTT so bad
Wen Ruohan: Attempted world domination, murder etc
Lan Qiren: has a stick up his ass
Su Minshan: Refused to die for the Lan, supported JGY in his efforts to prevent undead Da-ge from killing him. Also cursed Jin Zixun.
Sect Leader Yao: Weathervane politician
Jiang Wanyin: strangled Wei Wuxian that one time, keeps trying to talk to him but is way too tsundere about it, killed many during the war, didn't immediately forgive WWX for getting JYL killed, threatens to break Jin Ling's legs weekly.
Jin Ling: rude. rude rude rude. Also stabbed WWx one time
Lan Jingyi: not respecting his elders, rude rude rude. Also loud
JFM: shit dad, throw him in a volcano
Madame Yu: Angry mom, beat Wei Wuxian for things that weren't his fault, yelled at JC a lot, didn't appreciate JYL, very mean.
Lan Xichen: killed people during the war. Randomly starts doing flute solos in conversation
Meng Shi: was a prostitute. Told Meng Yao his dad was amazing and he should totally look him up later.
Madam Jin: awful person, she can go into the volcano with JFM. physical and verbal abuse (JGY)
Nie Huaisang: killed cats, nearly killed the juniors, let his sect fall into ruin, traded obscene materials, disrespecting his sect's traditions, lied to Lan Xichen to make him kill JGY
Wen Qing: went along with WRH's plans, performed surgery on JC without his consent
Wen Ning: Was part of the burning of LP
Mo Xuanyu: Summoned Satan to murder his relatives, harassed his brother
Jin Zixun: asshole, rude, broke the Geneva Convention on the ethical treatment of prisoners several times. Useless person
FOR THE SAKE OF SAFETY AND YOUR MORALS YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO STAN THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS

You know what we should bring back?
Older christianity. I mean the anti government, anti military, community based christianity. The one that cared the most about peace, equality, mercy, kindness, and radical love. The one with shared property. The one that didn't conform to society but instead existed mostly outside of it. The one where noone considered one sin worse than another because in the end, we are all sinners trying our best to be better.

*clears throat* so, it's been a stinking while... so forgive me if I request something that's already been written 😅
Can I request a blorbo (you know which 3 I am always asking for, so just choose one that vibes with you the most here lol) with tall afab s/o who one day wears platforms so they become even *taller* and blorbo, much to their surprise, becomes even more interested because 1) unexpected size kink 2) damn those legs do be long. Spicy, suggestive, clowning around - I'll take anything from you 🤭
I hope you find this inspiring, thank you! ❤️
Ahhh, so happy to see you back in my inbox, Bas! <3 It has been too long indeed, and I hope your return is satisfied by what I've come up with here. It's a bit shorter than usual as I ease back into writing for OP again.

Something about that morning was different. Something...he couldn't quite name.
You busily wandered the bedroom behind him after your shower that morning, feet taking you here and there as you gathered what you'd decided to wear for the day. It wasn't so unusual, a routine familiar to him.
He almost didn't notice the difference, what with him being hunched over his desk to gaze at the news coo over his breakfast. But the heavier-than-usual footsteps behind him made him turn, curiosity getting the better of him.
Nothing strange caught his eye, and so Law mentally shrugged, already in the process of looking away when finally something made him double take.
...had you always been so tall?
He couldn't recall noticing your head reach so high up on the full-length mirror as you stood before it, adjusting your clothing with a careful eye. With your back turned to him, his eyes couldn't help but wander down your shapely legs, all the way down to the platformed shoes adorning your feet. Ah, that would explain the slight difference, he supposed. It only accentuated your calves and thighs, and added several inches to your already noticeable height.
Damn...what a pleasant view. But the sight was short-lived when he finally glanced up to see you noticing the way he was staring obviously at your backside from your reflection in the mirror.
"Got something on your mind?" You teased, grin lifting the corner of your mouth.
"Don't mind me." He manages to say without clearing his throat. "Just admiring the view."
"Perving on me from behind? I'd expect such a think from the likes of Shachi and Penguin, or that perverted chef with the StrawHats." You turn, stepping closer to him with those long legs and tall shoes and...from his seated position, you seem to tower over him as you stand by the chair. "Have a bit of shame, Captain."
Law tried, really tried, to come up with some smart retort to your words. Really, he did. But when faced with the way you looked down at him from above, head cocked in that amused way you do, his mouth is suddenly dry and it impossible to focus on anything other than the way his heart pounded a little harder in his chest.
Oh shit.
Seeing you above him, did something to him. He couldn't explain what. Or perhaps he knew but just didn't want to admit to himself how much seeing your difference in height was turning him on, but either way, his only response to your quip was silence and that stunned, wide-eyed look. And unfortunately for him, this didn't escape your notice.
He sees you frown momentarily, before your eyes flicker between yourself and his face. Amusement overtakes your expression once more, and you lean down further to peer into his face.
"Well, this is interesting." You muse. "Is that a blush I see, Law?"
"No." Pride demands he deny such a thing, but when you reach down to tilt his chin up at you, your gaze sultry and soft, he knows that if he wasn't blushing before he most certainly was now.
Fuck, how was this so hot?
"Liar." You mutter, studying him for a few seconds before backing away and offering hims some respite from your teasing. Still, you can't help the laugh as you turn away to finish getting ready. "There's no shame in having a size kink, you know."
"I don't-"
"Deny it all you want, I see right through you." You voice lilts while you straighten out the outfit you'd picked for the day. And, with one last heated glance his direction that had him stilling in place, you turned to leave with a parting quip. "We'll revisit this later tonight, yeah?"
Law's eyes track down your long legs again, focusing longer than necessary on the tall-heeled footwear—the chuckle as you notice snaps his gaze back up in time to watch as you disappear past the doorway and out into the hallway. Apparently his fascination was answer enough to your question.
He's not sure how long he just sits there, staring at the place you'd just occupied. Mortification and excitement clashed in his head, knowing you suddenly had this knowledge about him—knowledge which, truthfully, he hadn't even known about himself until that point either. All he knows is that he's in for it once you return later.

There's several incredibly easy criticisms, but I feel the concept of "corporate greed" becomes particularly incoherent when used to explain the prices of something having only just now gone up
you think corporations only invented greed last week and simply had not thought to raise prices anytime earlier?

An "oh no what am I going to watch after Fellow Travelers is done?" List
When I first saw the trailer for Fellow Travelers I was disappointed because it looked predictable. Turns out it wasn't nearly as predictable as I thought, and is actually quite good. But then I got to thinking...why not share a list of series and movies that folks might be interested in watching once Fellow Travelers is done airing.

If you want to see more about McCarthyism, Roy Cohn and the Lavender Scare:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bully. Coward. Victim. (2019) and Where's My Roy Cohn? (2019) - Both of these documentaries focus on the life of Roy Cohn, from his time at the McCarthy hearings, to his time as the Studio 54 lawyer, to his work during the Reagan era and his eventual death from AIDS. Where's My Roy Cohn? also focuses in on Roy Cohn's working relationship with Donald Trump. "Bully. Coward. Victim. was produced by the granddaughter of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and as such, it also focuses more on the lasting impact of Cohn's role in their executions. There's a lot of overlap between the two documentaries, but I think they're both worth watching if you can.

If you want to see more stories of gay men in the 1950s:
Tumblr media
Against the Law (2017) - This is a biopic about Peter Wildeblood, a man who was put on trial for homosexuality and who, remarkably, acknowledged that he was gay during the trial. This trial and Wildeblood's later actions, are considered pivotal in the movement toward decriminalizing homosexuality in the UK. The movie takes place mostly in the 1950s and, again, deals with queer men trying to find love in a time in which laws, social norms, etc. made it exceedingly difficult to do so. The drama is interspersed with interviews in 2017 with real queer men who were alive at the time of the trial.
--
If you want to see more stories of ruthless politicians trying to hide that they're gay:
Tumblr media
A Very English Scandal (2018) - As the title suggests, this miniseries takes place in the UK. It's based on a true story...even the more outlandish moments. Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) is a career politician who's been hiding that he's gay for decades. He's developed a ruthlessness and callousness to his own situation and he, predictably, treats everyone around him as disposable. Then along comes Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw), a young man who Thorpe is instantly attracted to. But Scott struggles with self-acceptance and mental health issues, and Thorpe has no compassion nor patience for any of that. The result is a dark comedy about this doomed relationship alongside the change to the law in the UK to decriminalize homosexuality.
--
If you want to see more stories of queer folks in the 1980s:
Tumblr media
It's A Sin (2021) - This is a miniseries that follows a group of queer folks during the 1980s in London. It's all about their search for love and finding themselves and whatnot, even as they are forced to deal with HIV and AIDS. It's a good show that is worth a watch, especially if you haven't seen much else about being queer in the '80s.
--
Tumblr media
Angels in America (2003) - Of course Angels in America was going to end up on this list. It is one of the definitive pieces of fiction on living in New York during the AIDS crisis. The play was originally performed in 1991...just four years after AZT was approved for use in the US to treat HIV and AIDS. It's big, and complex, and as much about the state of the U.S. at the time as it is about these individual characters and their lives. Also, Roy Cohn shows up, working as a political operative for Reagan. It really is, as it's subtitle says, "A Gay Fantasia on National Themes."
