illustrative Kinsey Scale Flags

For those who are unaware, the Kinsey Scale was created by Alfred Kinsey and published in 1948. He created it in order to show that sexuality is broader than two strict categories ( aka the homo/hetero binary ) as assumed by much of the lacking research at the time.

Kinsey is often credited as "the father of the sexual revolution" as the Scale- and his other publications, The Kinsey Reports- had a massive impact on the discussion and perception of human sexuality. Kinsey acknowledged that sex and sexuality was "a continuum" ( i.e. not a binary ) and admitted his scale could not capture the sexuality and experiences of every individual.

The scale typically ranges from 0 ( exclusively Hetero- ) to 6 ( exclusively Homo- ) with the addition designation of "X" added to represent those with "no socio-sexual contacts or reactions." ( Asexuality )

Kinsey was Bisexual and later died in 1956 due to ill health, which many have suggested was due to the significant and vicious backlash against his work. While others have expanded the original Scale to include a wider range of individual experiences, Kinsey's original work is still influential and an important part of history.

These flags are meant to be illustrative of the original categories. The middle stripe of each flag is filled with the relevant catagory on the chart and it's designation ( 0-6 and X ). Kinsey 1 / Kinsey 2 / Kinsey 3 Kinsey 4 / Kinsey 5 / Kinsey-Fluid

New versions of my old flags. The Kinsey scale is controversial for fair reasons but it can still be a useful way to quickly explain one's sexuality. Brief definitions under the cut.

Kinsey 1: Predominantly attracted to other genders, occasionally attracted to similar genders (I.E. strong "straight" preference)

Kinsey 2: Mostly attracted to other genders, more than occasionally attracted to similar genders (I.E. slight "straight" preference)

Kinsey 3: Equally attracted to other and similar genders (no preference)

Kinsey 4: Mostly attracted to similar genders, more than occasionally attracted to other genders (I.E. slight "gay" preference)

Kinsey 5: Predominantly attracted to similar genders, occasionally attracted to other genders (I.E. strong "gay" preference)

Kinsey 0 is straight, Kinsey 6 is gay/lesbian and Kinsey X is aroace.

Star Wars characters on the Kinsey Scale:

Next up, Bo-Katan Kryze.

Bo-Katan is a 6 (Exclusively homosexual) on the Kinsey Scale.

Anyone that tries to pitch something otherwise has not paid the slightest bit of attention to her as a character up to this point.

I mean, within moments of meeting Bo-Katan for the first time, she sexually objectified / assaulted Ahsoka Tano (f*^% that whole episode, btw). Zero time is wasted. She goes hard part teen terrorist, part bad ass lesbian. The incident was extremely problematic. It was lewd. It was uncalled for. It was completely disrespectful. It shouldn’t have happened, but there it was. Boom. WTF?

Bo and Ahsoka ended up working it out though. Um, because there was clearly some sort of weird homoromantic tension between the two of them during the Siege of Mandalore arc. Ahsoka was giving Bo all of these prolonged stares, leaping whenever Bo said jump, and Bo was doing the same damned thing acting as Ahsoka’s attack dog. I don’t know. There are no heterosexual explanations for it. There just aren’t.

I’m torn on whether or not Bo and Ahsoka are still a thing during the Mandalorian.

On the one hand, Bo knew Ahsoka’s GPS coordinates, and Bo and her night owls acted hella suspicious when they were at that dive restaurant on Trask while talking with Din about Ahsoka. Something’s definitely up with them. There’s a story. On the other, Bo does also seem to be suspiciously close to Koska Reeves. When Bo talked shit about Boba Fett being a clone, and Boba went to kick Bo’s ass, Koska jumped up and went straight for his jugular without hesitation. Maybe they’re a thing? Dunno. Either way at least two things are for certain, Bo is definitely a bottom and not at all straight.

But, hell… let’s face it… it’s Disney, so the best we’re going to get is a “single” Bo-Katan with a female “roommate” regardless.
