Unpopular opinion about Emilia di Carlo's character arc in kotw: it was nonexistent. In the start we had sweet little meek Emilia, and immediately out of nowhere we have before us this badass witch Emilia with questionable morals. Out. Of. Nowhere.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe - witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family's renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin...desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister's killer and to seek vengeance at any cost—even if it means using dark magic that's been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked—princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia's side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women's murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems...

This book definitely starts off as one for the teens, but by book three it's definitely one for the adults lol. The spice level isn't too crazy, but there is a bit of spice in book two and then even more in book three.

There's definitely a twist that breaks your heart for the sisters and for Prince Wrath. The Princes of Hell are ones not to be trusted, but by the end of the book I was rooting for them.

There is one thing I didn't like about this series. The main enemy is left alive and they just.. forget about them while Emilia has her happily ever after with Wrath.

I know there is another trilogy coming out, but this next one will be centered around Prince Envy. I'm not even sure they're going to bring back up the enemy that nearly tore them apart twice.

This was definitely my most anticipated read of 2022. I got the first two books for Christmas last year and quickly read them in anticipation for the release of the final book.

This was a pretty good conclusion to the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy. Though, personally, I would say that nothing could top Kingdom of the Cursed and how reading that book made me feel. That book was literally top tier.

I loved the Wrath and Emilia dynamic, throughout all the books. But their relationship in this book just hit different. It was great to see Emilia take up the mantle next Wrath, which is something that I really looked forward to.

When it comes to plot, there was some really great plot points. The storyline of Vittoria and Emilia being the goddesses of Death and Fury was so well done and connected the other two books well. However, I felt like most of the book was focused on Emilia trying to break Wrath’s curse.

Within the same vein, I felt like a big part of the story conclusion and its resolutions came really late in the book. This made the book seem like it dragged unfortunately, which lead to me skimming some of the longer parts. And also having to take a break from the parts that felt like lore was being inserted in chapters with a heavy hand.

I was also picking up vibes that there might be a spin off, based on the bonus chapter from Envy’s point of view as well as the set up for Claudia, Pride, and Vittoria. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that, but we will see what the future holds.

Overall, this was a good end to Wrath and Emilia’s story. While it was definitely more new adult than young adult, I really didn’t see anything wrong with that. Though, this definitely wasn’t my favorite book in the trilogy, I still really enjoyed it.

Okay- so I’m going to make some changes on my planned reading. Kingdom of the Wicked is one I am super enjoying BUT the slow pacing is killing me. I’m not used to slow books right now and I’m reading like 3 chapters a day from it cause it’s all I can do and I’m just not able to focus. So I’mma try something new.

I am reading

Just reading it slowly.

I’m taking off Daisy Jones and The Six even though I was enjoying it I just can’t focus and so I’m setting that one aside for now. It’s going back into my TBR Jar.

I tried to read Crescent City and I can’t, I just can’t. Sarah J Maas’s writing just isn’t for me, it’s terrible and I don’t like her writing or her stories. So I’m unhauling both Crescent City books. I tried I really did.

The books I’m still planning on picking up are

I really would like to re-read the Uglies series this year. And I want to read Hooked again.

I am definitely set on adding this to my reading

I know I was on the fence but it’s short and I bet it’s quicker paced and I need that.

I would like to read Les Miserables but I have to say I’m intimidated by it. But I did recently get gifted the first book in a trilogy that is a sci-fi retelling of Les Miserables. And I really want to get to it.

I also still have a ton of extreme horror and splatterpunk books, and those always tend to be on the faster paced side so I might supplement my reading with those.

I still am on that book buying ban- and so far I’ve been great. The only thing I’ve bought was Love, Theoretically and that was already planned.
