The change in House is noticeable the second he steps out of Mayfield. For starters, he looks different. The haircut is new, of course, but that’s not all. He looks… Serene. Content. Like he’s fully present for the first time in 15 years. Wilson’s overcome with so much pride he nearly wants to cry. He clears his throat instead. “You look good.” He offers. And then, to his enormous surprise, House hugs him. A hug. Wilson doesn’t remember the last time they hugged. Maybe at his last wedding? Or was it the one before that? It takes Wilson a moment to get over the shock, but after a few seconds he stiffly hugs back.

Wow. You deserve all the kudos. This was wonderfully written and so wholesome and sweet. And optimistic! I'm not usually a huge fan of poly shipping, but House and Wilson in an open relationship just makes sense. I really liked the way you handled their coming out at work. I also especially liked that House was the one who brought up marriage! Also, I liked that House gets the opportunity to grow and a supportive environment to do it in (can you tell I liked a lot of things). Wilson also gets to step up (as he loves to do) and grow and change as a character, which is neat.

In the show, a lot of the bs that goes on between characters gets swept under the rug. Partly as a result of the episodic procedural format. Also likely because uncomfortable things aren't often addressed or resolved in real life relationships, and these characters are all damaged and flawed. One of the nice things about fanfiction is the ability to address those conflicts. I think your take on hilson is really fantastic, in part because of how optimistic and hopeful it is. Your version of s6-7 made me so happy. Thank you for sharing!

Wilson continued, ''One, we can stay the night here. There's always the sofa in my office. Two, I can see if emergency services can effect a rescue of some kind. I'm thinking ladder trucks or a giant trampoline, maybe.'' House snorted and smiled half a smile. Wilson grinned widely. ''And three, yes, the stairs. I'll help you down.'' ''Four floors. Eight flights. Fifteen stairs per flight. That's 120 stairs.'' House gripped his cane and rubbed at his thigh absently. ''You counted?'' ''I remember.''

And you’re soft, and you love neediness, and I’m a vulture who will pick and pick and pick until you’re nothing but bones.”  “But I’ll be your bones.” Dewy eyes reflected the sky bleeding purple into navy. “Your love isn’t violent. summary: Wilson is paralyzed from the waist down (or some similar injury, this was inspired by "Fifth Of July" a play RSL was in), becomes very depressed and angry and House has to help him find a reason to go back to work and keep helping people.

House was in a new wheelchair. Low slung with space-age three spoke wheels. “You blew money on a sports wheelchair? How important is it for you to win? Our bets never top five dollars.” “It’s not for me. It’s for you." House shook his head in dismay. "Your choice in wheels is disgusting. You drove a Volvo and now you own the Darth Vadermobile. Your wheelchair should be equipped with a horsewhip, it's so old-fashioned. Get with the program, Wilson.” House slapped the handrims. “This baby is the ‘vette of wheelchairs.” “I’m fine, with the one I h-have.” Wilson faltered. House had argued with him when he made his decision, but stubbornly refused to give in and erred on the side of caution, choosing a sturdier, mundane model. “Too late, this one is custom-built for you.” House passed his friend and moved toward the couch. Stenciled on the back in small letters were, “Beware Monster Trucks!” Right below in a larger font, “THE TUMORNATOR.”

reccer's note: this one features disabled!wilson and i wasn't sure how i was going to feel about it but im really glad i read it anyways! the characterization is brilliant, i can totally imagine canon!wilson behaving like this. the tumornator and wilsonfrared detector were strokes of genius too!

To save House from losing everything, the doctors of PPTH decide on an unusual solution, which in turn leads to unexpected consequences. This is a story about the sacrifices we make that turn out not to be such great sacrifices after all. 

Obviously, there was a glitch in the system where Wilson was concerned, something in Wilson's psychological makeup that took the signals for 'run away as far and as fast as you can' and mistranslated them as 'quick, marry this guy.' And people thought House was the one who needed therapy. Wilson was a shrink's wet dream.

reccer's note: i really like fics where there's no dramatic love confession or pining. where they realise that they're each other's ride or die and they decide to give the relationship a shot. this fits right in with that trope!

That’s where I know you from. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a med student that young in a lecture like that.” James shrugged. “I’ve always been quick to pick up on things. Took AP classes in high school, finished that a year early, went to college, saved me another year there.  I figured it wouldn’t hurt to venture into the advanced classes as soon as possible.” A grin spread across House’s face. “I bet you did, Boy Wonder.”

He thinks again of the woman he’d cured, with the autoimmune disease. How she’d have to carry it around the rest of her life. He could do that, if he wanted. He could leave things as they are right now and Wilson wouldn’t call him out on it. They’d stay in this homeostasis, never actually moving, caught up in each other but pretending they’re seeing other people. Treating the symptoms but incurable.

Okay I've read and reread this like five times this week so Ixm leaving this definitely overdue comment. Abolutely love this fic and how you write them both, so many of these lines are so perfectly in character I blink at them not being in an episode I overlooked.

I love the labeling of their cycle as "Normalcy, fuck-up, half apology" to someone else it would sound cold or alienating to label a friendship like that but I think it fits them more than anything.

Also cannot get over how this fic is rated T but the sheer emotional impact of the kisses we do get hit like an Explict truck. Absolutely amazing job nailing their intimacy.

Such a fun read and a good take on them fake dating. Definitely my fave fic of the fandom <3

I enjoyed this -- very much canon-as-it-should-have-been, with both of them unable to come out and say what they actually need to until it's almost too late. You did an excellent job of winding and weaving the strands of their relationship in and through the events of the first two seasons. And you leave the reader certain that they've ended up in the right place -- they'll bicker and argue and even fight, but always return to each other in the end, because each of them completes the other in ways no one else can.
