Hybern: *points at y/n* We have your lover
Rhys: *looks at y/n* You have a lover?
Y/N: I wish
Hybern: Then who is the one who can't stop talking about how beautiful you are ? Or how melodic your laugh is or whenever he enters a room he always looks for you first because, according to him, your presence alone brings him peace and how that damn smile can make him feel this whole zoo in his stomach and he can't help but imagine how it feels like to kiss those lips and don't get him started with those eyes
Hybern: We had enough, so we didn't let him get started with those eyes
Cassian: Oh my god, they have Azriel!
Y/N: *looks at rhys* Now, if you get him back, I'll have a lover
Feyre: So none of you is concerned that hybern literally has azriel?
Cassian: Knowing him, he let them catch him so he can make someone confess his love for y/n cause he's too scared to do it himself
Hybern: He used us as wingman?
Rhys: Yeah. Just finish talking to him he is on his way home

You're Losing Me 1 | Rhysand
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SUMMARY: You married Rhysand for an escape from the Court of Nightmares. You loved him, but he wasn't Azriel. He wasn't your mate. And now Rhys and Azriel are losing you to the aftermath of Under the Mountain.
PAIRINGS: Rhysand x Reader, Azriel x Reader, Rhysand x Feyre Archeron
CONTENT WARNING: Heartbreak, fated mates, MFW, no smut, angst, fluff mentions of abuse, mentions of blood
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This one shot is based around You're Losing Me (From The Vault) by Taylor Swift. This will be a multi-part series that will kind of follow the books but will be altered a little. And yes it starts out with Rhys as the love interest but by the second part it'll be more focused on Azriel. If you'd like to be tagged in the rest of this multi-part series let me know in the comments and I'll add you to the tag list.

You were trapped Under the Mountain with your husband. He needed a partner, you needed a reason to leave your family behind in the Court of Nightmares. He was that escape for you, and you were that savior for him. It was only ever a marriage based upon a deal. But over the years you’d both fallen in love with each other. That’s what you had told yourself anyway. You knew that he told himself that too. Rhysand wasn’t Azriel… he wasn’t your mate.
Just before you and Rhysand had left for the party, you had felt the bond snap between you and Azriel. Though you hadn’t been sure if he had felt it. You’d never got the chance to ask anyway. You and Rhys were trapped Under the Mountain for 49 years, with no way for you to feel the bond between you and Azriel. It truly broke something inside you and you had felt it. You knew how you had gotten to this moment in time.
A human had saved you all, but you had suffered choosing to protect her from the wrath of Amarantha. She didn’t take too kindly to that. You were separated from the others not even knowing what had happened with the trials. You lied on the cold floor under the mountain still. Blood was leaking from your body, from the deep cuts that littered your body.
“A punishment for intervening with the human.” She’d said to you before they had dragged you away from Rhys. Panic had run through your body but it truly wasn’t enough to save you. The sobs had long since stopped coming out of your mouth. You felt so hollow lying there on the floor. The cold air rushed against the open cuts on your back. After the guards had left your room you’d heard commotion.
But you made no move to get up off the floor, too much pain ran through your body to allow you to pick yourself up from the floor. You felt calloused hands touch the side of your arm. Slowly you opened your eyes and looked up to see your husband staring back at you. A sad expression crossed Rhysand’s face as he kneeled down to look at you.
“My love.” He whispered, tears threatening to escape from his eyes.
“I don’t want you to see me like this.” You said softly, closing your eyes and pulling your head away from Rhys.
“I need to get you home.” Your eyes opened up and you stared up at him.
“What are you talking about?”
“She’s dead, we’re free. I need to get you to Madja.” You felt shock course through your body.
You would finally be heading home to your mate, seeing him for the first time in 49 years. “How?” It was a simple question and all you could get out.
“Feyre, she saved us all.” When your eyes found Rhysand’s violet eyes, you saw that look. You knew all too well what that look meant.
“She’s your mate isn’t she?” You asked. Rhys only nodded. “Az…” You paused, watching Rhys stare at you with a raised brow. But he seemed to understand what you were trying to say.
“You’ll see him soon enough.” Rhys gripped your hand and the two of you winnowed back to your home.
Darkness is the only thing you saw before you woke up. The pain to your back was unbearable and you ended up passing out in Rhys arms. Azriel sat in the bed holding onto your hand, you rested on your stomach and the wounds on your back were starting to heal. He still wasn’t processing the fact that his brother and his mate were back home. It was so unreal to him. His shadows gilded around your body, careful to not touch your back.
They were beyond happy to have you back. You were home. Azriel wasn’t going to let anything happen to you, not ever again. He looked up when he saw Rhys standing at the door, he gave a small nod and adjusted his wings, pulling them in tightly as he stepped off the bed and walked over to Rhys.
“How’s Y/N?” Rhys asked, violet eyes on his wife. Though he knew that there might be a divorce in the future. You and Rhys would want different things now. He knew it even if you weren’t awake to express that. Rhys still cared for you deeply and would still allow you a home. Besides he knew that Azriel would kick his ass if he let you go back to the Court of Nightmares.
“Holding on.” Azriel kept his hazel eyes on you not wanting to look away for a second. He was so afraid that he’d lose you again. Not being able to hold you, comfort you, be there for you when you were struggling it was killing him.
“You know she doesn’t blame you for what happened to us.” Rhys said, picking up on what he was thinking just by the way he’d been staring at you.
“I should’ve gone with the both of you to the damned party.” Azriel’s tone was clipped, his jaw tight. He crossed his hands over his chest while his shadows moved around his body. Only a few remained near you.
“I gave you an order to stay here. Y/N, told you to listen to it. We didn’t need you there, we needed you here with everyone else to watch over Velaris. Y/N had told me that Amarantha might try to do something, she had told me that it was best that we go and make sure you all stay back here.”
“How did she know?” Azriel placed his hazel eyes on his brother.
“I don’t know, gut feeling I suppose. I’ve been wanting to see if Y/N might have some type of power.”
“Could that be possible?”
“It could be. We found out that she’s Hybern’s child. Amarantha told us. Apparently her mother escaped to the Court of Nightmares but gave her up before disappearing. No one had seen or heard from her that Y/N was left with that despicable family.”
“If you two get a divorce will she be sent back to the Court of Nightmares?” Rhys could hear the panic and worry in his brother’s voice. Finally Rhys turned to place his full on Azriel.
“We will get a divorce because I’m not you, she wants to be with you and to be honest she’s not Feyre. We had discussed this when we got married in the beginning. That should one or both of us find our mate and we want to accept it the other would allow a divorce. I’m letting her go, I still care for her deeply but she is not mine to love, not anymore.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” Azriel said sternly.
“I won’t send her back, Az. You should already know that. Y/N is your mate and your hers. She’s also a valued member of the Inner Circle. I do not plan on tossing her aside because I’ve found myself. I made a bargain to keep her protected from that family and I will continue to do that.” Rhys paused, he placed his violet eyes on you. You had heard the last stretch of their conversation. Rhys had told Azriel that you belonged to Hybern, that you were his offspring and yet he was still here. “I’ll leave you two alone.”
Rhys disappeared before Azriel could say anything further. You adjusted your body slightly to get more comfortable on the bed. Azriel was quick to move to your bed. You felt a few of his shadows swarm your body, they were being mindful of the cuts.
“Can you help me up?” You asked, as you were eager to get out of the bed and walk around. Azriel only nodded, he was silent and you started to think it was because of who your true father was. Azriel held onto your hands as he helped you walk around your room.
“How are you feeling?” He asked softly, his gaze on you. You had to look up at him, he was so much taller than you were.
“I’m fine.” You replied, it was a lie though. You were in a nightmare of your own making. Things were happening, you could feel it. Something was happening, a war was coming and you didn’t know how to tell them.
Three weeks had passed, Rhysand, Azriel and Madja thought that they were getting better. And you were getting better, at least your back was. But you were declinding, your mind wasn’t the way it was before Amarantha had happened. And with all the trauma you’d received at the hands of your adoptive mother and adoptive father, followed by Amarantha. It was a struggle for you.
Cassian sat in your room with you, the door was open and the windows were open too. A breeze flew in while a shadow hovered around you. Azriel was out on a mission, he didn’t want to go by Rhys needed him to go on this mission so he’d ask Cass to sit with you and watch over you while he was gone. You laid on your bed, not facing the light coming from the sun outside. It was too bright in here for your liking.
You pulled the covers over your head ignoring Cassian when you knew he was staring at you. It pained him to see you like this. To see you suffering in silence and not sharing it with anyone. You hadn’t even talked to Rhys and Az about what was bothering you. But the truth was simple, you didn’t know how to tell them, to talk about the things that Amarantha forced you to do. It was far worse than the punishment you’d gotten for trying to intervene to save Feyre.
She’d discovered your powers, knew what you could do. And she used that to her advantage. Every time she manipulated you, made you believe that she’d find your mate and you’d watch him die. That’s when you learned from Amarantha that you were able to sense bad things. You knew that you could sense good things, but the majority of the time it was a handful of bad things that followed you around. You weren’t a seer.
That much was clear, while you could predict things before they could happen you couldn’t see them. Only feel them with every inch of your body, mind, and soul. You had yet to explain this to Rhysand. You knew he was itching to know what abilities you had. He was trying to see if you’d be a threat to him. You felt the room get darker, and suddenly you could hear voices all around you. One voice belonged to Cassian, the other belonged to your now ex-husband.
The divorce was quick and easy. You hadn’t been ready to accept the mating bond yet and Azriel was okay with that, he was okay with waiting even though that’s not what he felt on the inside. The sheets were ripped from your body and you groaned reaching for a pillow to pull over your head.
“No, you’ve been moping around for three weeks Y/N. You need to get up out of this bed now, and we need to discuss your powers.” His voice boomed around in your room, the pillow was then yanked from your hands. Your hair was wild and you were now glaring at the High Lord.
“Why? So you can throw me out the second I seem like I’m going to be a threat to your court.” You tried to hold yourself together, you stood on your bed on your knees glaring at Rhys, and Cassian who was still in the room. His face seemed to soften at the confession that left your lips.
“I will never throw you out of my court, you may not be my wife anymore. But you are and always will be one of my best friends. I made a promise to keep you safe and no matter what I will keep that. But this moping around needs to stop, you’re hurting Azriel.”
You were hurt, those words “you’re hurting Azriel,” they swarmed your mind. The words seemed to send you into a panic, you collapsed to the bed. Your eyes were staring up at the ceiling. Rhy's eyes came into view but you couldn’t move. It was happening again and you knew it. This is what Amarantha said you’d do when they started. You’d go deathly still as fragments of images and words appeared in your mind.
You’d always done your best to hide this from your family (well adoptive family), but when they saw it they knew it was grounds for punishment. And everytime it happened afterward you’d be sent to your room where you’d be locked in there for a week sometimes longer. When you made it to Velaris you’d gotten good at hiding it so they didn’t know about your power. Because you and Rhys didn’t sleep with each other or in the same room he never saw it.
It wasn’t until Amarantha that things got worse. She’d managed to unlock something inside you and turn this into a far more powerful being. You refused to call yourself a seer because you couldn’t see full on visions. When you finally got your vision back you saw Rhys and now Cass. They were both staring down at you worry etched across both their faces.
“What was that, Y/N?” Rhys questioned, as he and Cass lifted you up into a sitting position.
“I don’t remember much about my mother aside from the constant visions she had. They weren’t visions though, more like clipped images and words. And you know Hybern is my father, then that tells you all you need to know about who I’m supposed to be.” You said, pushing your hand up to your forehead to rub the pain away.
“And who are you supposed to be?” This time a new voice entered the conversation. You looked up to see your mate staring at you. A few of his shadows gathered around the other shadow that had stayed with you while Azriel was out on his mission. You stood from the bed and ran over to your mate collapsing into his chest as he wrapped his arms around your waist and his shadows swarmed the two of you.
“My mother gave me up for one reason only. I didn’t understand why and it never made sense, not until Amarantha told me. She was told to hand me over to my father if she ever caught me but she went against his order because she wanted me for herself. She used to tell me that I’d be a very powerful seer one day. I guess because I could see images and words that it would one day be useful especially if I fell into the full ability of my power.”
“So what does that mean then?” Cassian proceeded to question.
“In the wrong hands I could one day help destroy the world.”

So in ACOSF, we find out that Azriel (along with Mor) was the one to save Gwyn in Sangravah. Where she was brutally attacked & assaulted by Hybern’s soldiers. Where children and women were murdered. In his rage, he killed every Hybern soldier that was there, even though he was trained to take one or two as prisoners for questioning. The scene he stumbled on must have been insanely gruesome and horrific, especially after hearing Gwyn’s recounting of it.
The attack in Sangravah took place in ACOMAF, though we didn’t hear specifics about it other than Hybern attacked because he was looking for pieces to the Cauldron.
In ACOWAR, Elain gets taken by Hybern. He kidnaps her and Az volunteers to go get her.
I promise this isn’t me ignoring women’s feelings/traumas but can you imagine how he felt? Knowing everything that Hybern did in Sangravah? What he saw firsthand? This post isn’t to discuss ships, but knowing everything we know now, I understand why Azriel was so ready to risk his life in order to rescue Elain from Hybern’s clutches.
Personally, I don’t think Az was portraying “mate behavior”. I think he was having flashbacks to what happened in Sangravah. I think he didn’t want Elain to succumb to the same fate as the priestesses from there.

there HAS to be an ulterior motive for holding humans as slaves. there’s literally no other way for it to be logical. everything humans can do, fae can apparently do better. it’d make way more sense if the fae enslaved the faeries (lesser fae? whatever they’re called), not the humans. and also, wtf is the point of having slaves if they’re not useful? hybern went to war with prythian to enslave the humans again, but there’s also an implication in the story that humans aren’t useful slaves??? so wtf is the point then??? why is he going to such extensive lengths to get them back if they’re not economically or magically useful?

Tamlin week's not done til i say it's done! Here's some more quality Tamlin ships.
Tamlin/Tarquin rebuilding their courts and bonding over being fucked over by Feyre.
Tamlin/King of Hybern NOW HEAR ME OUT LISTEN I saw someone refering Tamlin/Rhysand as a crackship and immediately thought 'that's dreaming small I'll show you a crackship'. Idk I can latch onto the tiniest bit of potential for a nasty man offering you fake comfort when you're too low to disregard that and I'm running with it.
Tamlin/Lucien AGAIN but like post everything where they move past Rhysand's bs throwing a wedge between them and make up.

Theories about Koschei
1) the black onyx box is a wyrd key. Hidden inside Beron vanserra.
2). The swans are the actual queens. The ones who are now are pretending to be are relatives of theirs. Or made a deal with koschei to rule. Trapping the rightful queens. Remember Mor said they're all weak .
3). Koschei wants the archeron sisters dead. He possessed Cassian. Cassian was able to overcome because of the mating bond. He's going after Azriel. Putting thoughts in his head and whispering in his sleep. Elain knows this. She knows Azriel will kill her. Because they're not mates. He may also kill Lucien. Because of koschei.
4). Koschei is a valg or Asteri he can control the Illyrians. The creations of the the asteri.
3). Elain knows all this and is biding her time. To find weapons to defeat koschei. Like narbean. Which isn't evil. She's giving Azriel earplugs and headache medicine to prevent him from being possessed.
5) light singers are not evil. A rumor passed down because of koschei influences. Gwyn will be able to break koschei spells on people like the Illyrians.
6). The king of Hybern and Amarantha all of Hybern are with koschei and the asteri. The king was trying to bring back the asteri. Amarantha threw the sword into the sea. Because it wasevil or so she said. Msybe it can defeat koschei
7). Elain broke the darkness in the cauldron because of her kindness. It's been said she's very kind and pure.
8). Nesta took all the asteri power .They infused in the cauldron. plus a gift from the mother
9). Elain has been protecting her family and friends. This entire time. She knows Lucien could be killed by Azriel invoking the blood rite because of koschei.
10). Elain can properly yield truth teller. She gave it back because she didn't need anymore. She saw Bryce needed it for the asteri. She gave back the necklace so he could give it to his mate Gwyn.
11). Elain will kill koschei herself and maybe Beron. She brought kings to their knees. Hybern. I believe she will lock herself in a wall of iron or onyx. Trap koschei there. Draining him.
12). Once this is done. She will release the pockets of magic all throughout their world. What if Elain is a high queen. She makes all the high lords take a blood oath. Plus the leaders of hybern, rask etc. That's my crazy thought in this. Lucien becomes her king consort

Every time I think of the lost potential with the King of Hybern and Nesta and Elain, I weep a little inside. No, don't walk away, please hear me out!
First of all, I think it makes very little sense that the King lets Nesta and Elaine go in the first place. He just got them made with the cauldron's powers, you don't think he'd be curious what they can do? You don't think he'd want to keep them around as an additional bargaining chip so Tamlin and everyone else doesn't get stupid ideas?
Plus it would be such a more direct way to explain the sisters trauma. Like yeah, they were stuck in the abstract horrors of the cauldron, but that was rather undetailed and hard to feel empathic to for me personally ('wow u became immortal and extremely beautiful, what a tragedy'). Meanwhile having to be around the worst guy of the book, now that's something really terrifying. Like, just imagine the sisters having to deal with the King! Elaine is more soft and diplomatic and manages to get on his good side. Nesta is stubborn and angry and suffers much, much more.
But how much sense it would make then for Elaine to stab the King of Hybern in the back! He thought he had her under his control, but no! Betrayal! And Nesta beheads him, letting out all her rage. It would be so fitting and also explain how Elaine could get so close to the King without him caring.
Not to mentioned the King of Hybern would get much needed fleshing out! We could learn his background, his motives etc. It would've been awesome! Of course it would need some re-writing of the middle of the book, maybe some sister pov chapters, so I guess it would have clashed a little, but large potions could still be the same. Maybe the rescue mission could be a bigger focus instead.

Never underestimate an Archeron: volume 2 and volume 3 (combined effort)
(This is volume 1) It's simply ludicrous we don't know the name of the King by now, so I started just calling him Bernie. Because Bernie from Hybern(ie) was easiest to remember for my utter name sieve of a brain.
(He can go by Bernard for official business)

"Elain is boring" "Elain's annoying"
okay. stop. no. Elain is the best character. Let me explain. Elain has THE MOST hoes out of anyone in ACOTAR. Greyson, literally proposed to her. Lucien, continues to be nice to her and buy her presents after being rejected. Azriel, literally got over his 500 YEAR LONG CRUSH because she smiled at him or something. The caldron gave her a piece of itself in the form of powers, just because it thought she was cute. Even Rhys. who hates Nesta for making a young Feyre hunt for her--which ELAIN ALSO DID--loves Elain.
She's cleaning up both the mortal and the fae world. She's not even trying and she's adored. Actually, that's not true. I feel like she tries more than anyone to be liked and maintain her innocent reputation, even though she probably doesn't feel innocent after everything she's been through. This makes her such a real and interesting character.
ALSO.... ELAIN KILLED A MAN???? THE MOST POWERFUL MAN(male, fae, whatever) IN ALL OF HISTORY?????? HOW ARE WE IGNORING THIS?
I got so frustrated in ACOSF when Nesta was bitching about everyone praising her for killing Hybern(I still love Nesta tho, don't come for me). Because Yes. Nesta helped kill him and seriously slowed and wounded him. but Elain KILLED him. She was the one who stuck the knife(Truthteller because I believe that this was symbolism that Elriel quite literally slays) through his throat. Nesta was on the ground, cuddling her boyfriend, content to die. Elain killed Hybern.
In conclusion this fandom better start showing Elain a hell of a lot more respect and get absolutely phsyced for her book in January.

My last ACOTAR gift exchange fic is for @copypastus, my favorite degenerate villain lover! She started the Hytam revolution, so it's only fair of me to continue my Hytam fic for her.
Click here to read on AO3 or continue reading below:
The king of Hybern picked his way through the remains of Rosehall. The once proud manor was now dilapidated and overgrown with weeds. The front doors had been ripped off their hinges, and part of the ceiling in the foyer had caved in and allowed debris from the outside to invade and pile up on the floor. He made his way unerringly to the throne room. An enormous beast lay prone in front of the dais. Its wolf-like jaw rested on its paws, green eyes staring vacantly at the wall. One of the antlers that adorned its head had snapped off.
“Look what they’ve done to you,” he murmured. The beast didn’t move. “You fought me, every step of the way, out of some misplaced sense of honor. And what do you have to show for it?”
Slowly, painfully, the beast raised its head to look at him. The king fought back a smile. The situation was delicate, and the High Lord was still powerful. He continued speaking, his voice a soothing melody. “They’ve all betrayed you, haven’t they? For hundreds of years, they’ve used your loyalty against you and then left. The Lord of Night slaughtered your family and then waged war on your land. That human woman lied to you in order to destabilize your rule and steal your secrets. Even your faithful emissary has left you.”
The beast's eyes blazed at the mention of the Autumn Court brat. A matching surge of fury swelled in the king’s breast, and he fought it down. This was no time for petty emotions like jealousy. He was so close to success.
“Don’t you tire of these outdated notions of good and evil?” the king crooned. “Nobody else in this wretched kingdom adheres to them. You’ve fought for them long enough. Isn’t it time to fight for yourself? To seek vengeance against those who have deceived you?”
The king held his breath. This was the vital moment, where he found out if he had gone too far and ruined his entire plan before it had even begun. The beast unfolded its legs and rose to its feet. It approached the king, its mouth full of sharp teeth perfectly level with his throat. The metallic tang of magic filled the air, and the beasts form puddled and shifted into a bowed blonde man dressed in rags. The High Lord of Spring turned his gaunt face up to the king.
“Yes,” he said, voice hoarse from disuse. “Tell me how.”
Finally, the king allowed himself to grin. He tenderly cupped Tamlin’s cheek in his hand, thumb brushing against the perfect golden skin. “I already have.”
These things take time, Cesare reminded himself. Impatience was the enemy. He could wait. He had waited for five centuries for his chance to conquer Prythian once again. Still, he grew exasperated with Tamlin. The Spring lord vacillated between his desire for revenge and his stubbornly persistent sense of morality. Cesare coaxed Tamlin out of his depression, as one would cajole an injured animal into a trap. Tamlin stopped shifting into a beast to punish himself. He cleaned himself up and changed his clothes. Slowly, the manor around him began to repair itself, matching the lord’s improving mood.
It wasn’t enough. The king of Hybern didn’t want Tamlin content. He wanted Tamlin to fight. He reminded Tamlin of the wrongs committed against him, how those he had carefully cultivated relationships with turned their backs on him. Unfortunately, Tamlin was far more inclined towards self-flagellation than righteous anger. He blamed himself, over and over again, for his current state of being. Cesare began to despair that Tamlin would never rouse himself enough to participate in his plan. That Tamlin would never be his.
Then they found the assassin.
Cesare had carefully negotiated allowing a bare bones contingent of his soldiers into Spring. They wouldn’t attack or harm anybody, they were simply there to protect Tamlin’s unguarded borders. One of them sprinted into the manor, panting. They had apprehended an intruder, he explained, several miles from the border. If the Hybern soldiers hadn’t been patrolling, he would have made it to Rosehall completely unnoticed. At Cesare’s command, they brought their captive to the throne room, which still lay in ruins. Tamlin sat at the pile of rubble that used to be his throne. Cesare stood to his right, slightly in front of him.
The intruder was a pixie dressed in plain black clothing. He had midnight blue skin and pitch black eyes that glistened like wet tar. His fingers were long and narrow, tipped with wickedly sharp claws. His transparent veiny wings were hidden away under a beetle-like carapace. Cesare recognized the type immediately. These lesser fae crawled through the underground tunnels of the Night Court, infesting and reproducing like cockroaches. One on its own wasn’t particularly dangerous, but when they swarmed they could easily overwhelm much more powerful fae.
“We found this on him.” one of Cesare’s soldiers tossed a small vial through the air. Cesare caught it and opened it, his upper lip curling at the distinctive scent. It was hydrophid, a toxin about a thousand times more powerful than faebane. Even the fumes from the miniscule amount in the vial were enough to make Cesare lightheaded, and he quickly capped the container. He passed it to Tamlin, who also sniffed the vial’s contents. His brow furrowed; he knew as well as Cesare did that hydrophid came from a reptile that only inhabited the mountains of the Night Court.
“What’s your name, pixie?” a gentle voice behind Cesare caught him by surprise. Tamlin was leaning forward, staring intently at the pixie.
“Nehp,” he answered sullenly. “No use asking me nothing. I’m not gonna talk.”
“I think you will.” Tamlin rose from his seat until he stood in front of Nehp. A few weeks of taking care of himself had made a marked difference. No longer did his joints creak from disuse, no longer did he sway from malnutrition. He was strong and muscular, moving with the feral grace of a leopard. Cesare couldn’t take his eyes off him. He watched, discreetly signaling for his soldiers not to interfere.
“Who sent you?” Tamlin towered over Nehp, an implicit threat in his tone. The pixie gulped but didn’t answer. Tamlin cocked his head to one side and waited. Without warning, Nehp began to scream.
Cesare started, instinctively rising to his feet. Tamlin hadn’t touched the pixie, hadn’t so much as moved. But Nehp was shrieking as if he had been caught on fire. He lifted up his hands, and for a second it appeared that he was now wearing a pair of red gloves. Cesare’s vision focused and he realized that the skin on Nehp’s hands had peeled back, revealing muscle and tendons and bone. The screams changed pitch as Nehp’s head began to bubble with grotesque boils. Each boil exploded outward to reveal a bloodshot eye. All of a sudden Nehp gagged. A brief glimpse through his open mouth revealed that an eyeball had grown on the tip of his tongue.
“I can do this all day,” Tamlin said coldly. He was doing this, Cesare finally realized. He had known about the High Lord’s shapeshifting ability, and that he was able to change other beings with it. Up until now, the skill had been so underutilized that Cesare had forgotten about it. He hadn’t understood the full potential of the power that Tamlin contained. He wondered if Tamlin refrained from using his power because he feared what he could truly accomplish with it. There wasn’t a drop of sweat on Tamlin, no indication that he was exerting himself as he contorted the pixie’s form.
“I’ll talk,” Nehp choked out. “Please…stop.”
In a flash, he reverted back to normal. He collapsed on the ground, tears streaming down his face from his two remaining eyes. Coughing, he glared hatefully at Tamlin.
“Who sent you to kill me?”
“The Shadowsinger.” The pixie didn’t even try to deny what his goal had been. “On the Night Lord’s orders.”
Something in Tamlin cracked. In front of Cesare’s eyes he wilted, shoulders drooping and head hung low. He walked out of the throne room past Nehp, who cringed away from the High Lord. With a flick of his hand, Cesare indicated to his soldiers that they could take care of the pixie once and for all. One of them pulled out his sword and ran Nehp through. He died without another sound.
Cesare found Tamlin standing on the manor’s front steps. Tamlin was staring across his land with unseeing eyes.
“I haven’t done anything.” Tamlin’s voice was hoarse, as if he had been shouting. “I’ve stayed here, even when they disrespect my borders and have secret meetings on my land. I risked my life in your camp and exposed myself to save them. I even brought him back to life.” Cesare was silent, letting the full weight of the Night Court’s crimes against Tamlin sink in. Although his primary interest in the Spring Lord was power, even he was insulted on Tamlin’s behalf. The Lords of Prythian had taken advantage of Tamlin’s kindness long enough. They didn’t deserve it.
“He tried to kill me.” Tamlin spoke the words softly, as if he couldn’t quite believe them.
“He underestimated you.” Cesare stepped up beside Tamlin. “You’ve let them walk all over you. Let them believe you are weak.”
“I am weak.”
“No.” Cesare roughly grabbed Tamlin’s chin in his hand, forcing the other male to look at him. “You’ve only made yourself think you’re weak. You’ve held yourself back out of some archaic sense of morality. What I saw of you today was incredible. You hold more power in your little finger than the rest of the High Lord’s have in their whole bodies. Including Rhysand. That’s why he needs to get rid of you. He knows how much you threaten him.” Cesare practically burned with desire, both for Tamlin himself and the potential he represented.
“That wasn’t me.”
“It can be.” He pulled Tamlin in for a rough kiss. He expected the High Lord to struggle and pull away; instead, clawed hands wrapped around his neck, slicing through the collar of his tunic. Cesare didn’t care. The pure strength radiating off of Tamlin, the cruelty he had shown, made him dizzy with lust. Tamlin could reach into his chest and rip out his heart, and the king of Hybern would thank him.
“We’re going to kill them all,” Cesare murmured when he had to pull back for a breath.
Tamlin smiled against his lips. “Good.”

How far back do you go "fixing" ACOTAR before it just becomes a whole other story
Like if I think about it on a surface level I could start at ACOMAF and then just retcon like Sarah did
BUT if I really think about it I gotta start at the beginning and get into the Mortal Lands and the whole Archeron family
BUT when I think about the history I gotta go back to the first war and Jurian and the Wall
BUT if I really think about it I hate how
Prythian is just upsidedown Westeros/the UK so boring
Maybe I genuinely forgot but what does the otherside of the wall look like?? Like the wall itself is invisible but standing in the Mortal Lands can you just see the Spring Court?
Hybern (the king AND the place AND THE PEOPLE) is the big bad but we don't know anything about them
Fae are immortal but we don't have great great great grandparents just chilling around, like how is everybody dead, not everyone fights in wars and shit so where did they go
The "Mortal Lands" the "Continent" the "King of Hybern" "Papa Archeron" "Mama Archeron" name these fucking people, KoH was an enemy for 2 BOOKS IN A TRILOGY, HE LITERALLY SPEAKS IN MULTIPLE SCENES HOW DOES HE HAVE NO NAME
Why can Nesta resist glamour? Why could she steal from the Cauldron? But most importantly why will this never really matter??
[Steppes means flat and unforested land so the mountainous and forested Illyrian Steppes aren't steppes at all]
The Night Court doesn't make any sense geographically, politically, socio-economic wise, military wise etc
And I'm sure a dozen more I can't think of because I'm supposed to be writing Neris content not this
And it's crazy cause some things only work because of how sideways the story already is
