which is not only the best dynamic but also perfectly encapsulates jily on their first years of hogwarts 👀👀 (aaand I wanted an excuse to draw baby-marauders... or like, at least half of them 😬)

about ur marauders era popular group headcanon, where would james/sirius/remus/peter be? wouldn't they also be at "the height of cool"

james and sirius were. remus and peter were not.

james hangs out with the popular group sometimes, he gets on with them all, they like him a lot, and if it wasn't for the marauders- that would be his friend group.

sirius is seen as cool and hot by the group, and he's always with james so if james hangs out with, so does sirius, which they don't mind at all. but unlike james, they don't actually like him (due to his family, more punk attitude, brashness, etc.)

remus isn't seen as cool, but is liked by a lot of people because hes like 'the nice one'. but he's a nerd, he doesn't like sports, or parties, or small talk. the 'popular group' don't think badly of him but neither remus nor they would really want to hang out.

peter would be seen by them as that kid that follows james and sirius around. peter's a bit weird, very into arts and crystals and stuff. i think hestia wouldn't mind him, but the guys wouldn't really want to hang out with him. they do enjoy his band's music, and invite him to play when they have parties.

for a popular group you really need either most or a split of people to be in the cool + approachable or the cool + not approachable. the marauders aren't a popular group because half the people in it aren't seen as cool. but your main friend group doesn't always have to be popular for you (james and sirius) to be popular

Alright im brainrotting so like james and lily get harry enrolled in kindergarten and he instantly infatuated with little cactus draco who regulus babysat because draco is a menace for babysitter but soft only for his uncle reggie. So it ends up with so so much playdates between harry and draco which sorta like a date (going tot theme park, aquarium, beach, ice rink, etc) for jegulily. Jily cant help think regulus is so pretty charming and gorgeous and mooning over the black heir while kinda hiding their crush from each other because they felt guilty loving another person. While regulus kinda confused because why both potters are so sweet to him?? Is it potter thing, he is confused but he is so happy whenever james hug him or lily peck his cheek before leaving. Meanwhile harry and draco planning for jegulily marriage necause both of them evil little shits

hello! so, this is a multi chapter fic i was really excited about a while ago (started it, got to a few thousand works and then it fizzled out lol the basic premise is this:

muggle AU with single dad James and model Sirius who’s fed up of his ~meaningless life (feeling some…ennui, if u will) and ends up taking off to like. a seaside city where he runs into harry and then, james. it was such a fun premise because A. i was writing it to ‘have we met before’ which is the perfect j/s song, B. i wanted it to be low pressure and chill, a simple meet cute romance type situation.

there’s also aunt cassiopeia who sirius is temporarily living with and she’s like this. ‘spinster’ who’s cut off from her family, has a pet cheetah she rescued one time, and has three blades on her at all times. a Character. i love her. she loves james. tries to match make. sirius is so baffled?? because aunty cassie doesn’t like anyone??

i know for a fact that as harry gets older, like 40s, he ages like fine wine. an oscar isaac type, with greys in his beard and all. when he figures out his fashion style, it's DEVASTATING. cause he is so fine. sweaters and high-waisted slacks are his outfits now.

my something flag is that, as a seasoned marauders fan, I've never read All The Young Dudes. I tried to, finished half the thing, then got bored and stopped. just like that. and now I can't stop seeing videos or posts talking ab it while i'm just there being pretty and voluntarily ignorant

Can people stop fancasting the marauders as Alan, Ben and Andrew? I actually love those guys but now wherever I see any one of them of any combination or in any role I just kinda feel like punching the shit outta them before kicking them for good measure.

Unpopular opinion that will send all the James Stans after me. I honestly think the casting for a young James (the one we see during SWM) to be fine. I see nothing wrong with his looks and he low-key looks like a version of Harry.

I know, I know it doesn't have all the book canon looks but I say otherwise it's a fine casting job.

Mary and James are the only popular ones of the lot and i will stand by that

The way you view James is interesting to me. I always imagined him as being a pretty free spirt who is just so incredibly alive. Most people who meet him probably describe him as the most alive person they’d ever met. He lived every second to the fullest and wanted to go all the way out to the edge and experience everything. Of course him and Sirius are described as “much admired rebels” but his rebellion isn’t the same it’s a freer thing if that makes sense? It’s not born form such darkness as Sirius’ is. James’ is fueled by a lust for life, new experiences, and new people and it’s more him challenging or rebelling against pure blood society (which I think is like just how the Potters roll) and their messed up ideals not his family.  Sirius’ being fueled by a lust for freedom (from his family, their beliefs, abuse, and his demons) and discovery of who he is and wants to be. Thus rebelling against his family, their beliefs, their power, and pure blood society. 

The Potter family where an old and wealthy family, but where mostly content with a comfortable life in the “back waters” of wizarding society and weren’t concerned with blood purity. Even with a history of muggle and muggle born rights activists. I always read this as them being rather different. I kinda felt like we were dealing with a family that just passed down the value of “fuck society we do what we want.” Like I imagine them as eccentric inventors, cures breakers, adventurers, magizooologists, quidditch players, dragon handlers, aurors, and whatever else wild, exciting, fun thing one could think of. I definitely think that doing well (academically, career wise,etc) was important and considered valuable by them but for some reason I just seem like being a rather wild and free bunch. Definitely still approachable, kind, down to earth, kind, accessible, but worldly, fun, exciting, intense, passionate, adventures and excitement on legs.

i’m gonna be honest, i don’t actually see james as a rebel at all (with or without a cause). i see him as pretty much sticking to what’s expected of him in most cases (esp public) and only really going off the path when he’s with a trusted few. i definitely see where ur going and i love it! he’s definitely full of life and always, always happy to be trying new things. i often call him the sunshine kid and i’ll stick by it. i definitely think a large part of it comes from the confidence & high self esteem his parents instilled in him—he sees something and he goes for it, and this often ends up in him doing all these weird, adventurous, often dangerous things right? (i also think he has a large uhh what’s the word, adrenaline kink? nope, that’s not it. but u know what i mean right? the kind of person who loves extreme sports, for eg)

also lol love the hippie potters vibe you’re drawing here. (i also have this funny mental image of like, ridiculously wacky/eccentric potters and then comes james—a whole buttoned up, proper posh boy kid—and they’re (incl portraits) all just baffled like, how is he like this??? who gave him the stick up the arse?? like everyone else is dressed in the most mismatched, alternative fashion ever and then u have james in sweater vests and shorts and buttons downs)

i’m now also imagining harry learning all this about his family and it’s so !!!! like i’ve read a few fics that super focus on potter family history (one where they were like, military tacticians and super op fighters which was so good) and i love stuff like that! harry finding out that the potters were this bunch of crazy inventors & chose the most ridiculous professions and i feel like that would give him such a sense of freedom and relief and he’d definitely be next in line ykno?
