Lotor didn't make it in time to blow through the ship's forcefield. His laser hit the shield at the same time Keith's ship did.

Matt was the last person to hear their voice, just the words 'I love you, Matt. Save the world for me.' But they're private, those words only for his ears so he just tells everyone the last thing Keith said was 'not with our weapons.'

Everyone assumes that Keith is dead, or at the very least was captured by the Galra like Shiro at the end of the battle with Zarkon. Both Voltron and The Blade search desperately for their body, if not for closure then to make sure their body is laid to rest with their father's. They search the area of their disappearance, all quadrants around it, Naxzela's corpse, even Galran databases but...

Then there are reports of a human working with one of Lotor's men, Acxa. Lotor claims he doesn't know the human but Voltron knows (they more hope) that it's Keith.

Lotor brings Acxa and her human friend to the castle one day and...

They've got a bald spot on the crown of their head that's heavily scarred from metal scraps, their gait is uneven, and they refuse to take the glove off their right hand but it's Keith and they're alive.

It's a sweet reunion but, at the end, Matt pulls them aside and refuses to let go of them, whispering, 'I love you too. We'll save the world together.'

I love the idea of young keith always suppressing his stims (cause of the system and stuff) until he sees Matt rocking back and forth as they’re working on homework together or something and asks about it.

He than realizes he can just sit on his floor and play with a fidget or something and he’s not going to get in trouble. He can walk aimlessly around the house mouthing the words to a podcast or song and the most reaction he’s going to get is Shiro wondering how he’s not getting dizzy from walking in circles for so long.

Keith learning he’s allowed to be neurodivergent and he’s not going to get yelled at for showing autistic traits or being hyperactive due to his ADHD. That he can wear his headphones as much as he wants and be picky about food.

Just neurodivergent Keith guys.

Also. I could not find a name for our green, four-armed alien friend anywhere, but I called them Kitch in my notes. It was just the first name that came to mind when creating a placeholder for writing the idea for this little comic out, but it’s stuck now, and I’m tagging them as such lol

TERRIBLE AT COMMUNICATING. We all know Keith is stubborn and easily overwhelmed with a short temper. He doesn’t really know how to talk to people without getting angry. He feels that bc he has a hard time explaining exactly what he means, people never understand him and that makes him mad.

Bro isn’t scared of anything…and that low key scares everyone else. Like…who isn’t afraid of anything? The whole team has tried sooooo hard to figure out what will get Keith to jump out of his skin and scream like a child but to no avail… Boy just doesn’t flinch, doesn’t care, couldn’t care less about bugs and rodents and clowns and heights or anything like that.

Wears his gloves in the shower sometimes. Like wtf ???

Also bc he is not afraid of anything, boy will protect his friends/family/partner SO HARD. He will verbally AND physically tear someone apart just for looking at you the wrong way. Very protective and caring but in a good way ya know?

Actually very selfless and not self-centered in the slightest. Keith is very giving and helpful, despite his tough exterior, he’s very caring, observant and considerate. He’ll give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He’s always down to help others. Ugh Sweet heart ❤️‍🔥

Obvi his biggest red flag is how flirty he is. Boy will flirt with anything that breaths and that can get really annoying sometimes and affect the rest of the team.

Jealous AS FUCK. Like the petty jealous type. Lance is the kind of guy to pretend he has a partner back home just bc some alien girl he was flirting with said she had a partner already. He’s like “OH YEAH? Wow cool me too, same same, yeah….” But homie’s ego is a bit sore now…

Lies a lot. Lance just panics sometimes and tells a lie. He knows it’s wrong and he always feels guilty after lying to someone but it always just slips out. His mouth moves faster than his brain most the time.

Green Flags ✅

THE BEST HUGGER/CUDDLER OMFGGGGGG. Lance is the best hugger and cuddle buddy ever, period, end of story, try to change my mind. His long arms always stretch fully around the recipient’s torso and he squeezes tight enough to make you feel warm but not smothered. Usually will rest his chin on the other person’s head if they’re short enough (so Pidge obvi).

Very aware of other’s moods/body language/tone of voice. Everyone thinks Lance is “the dumb one” but he’s actually very in tune with what’s going on in the moment, what’s going on around him. I think he can tell how others feel the second he sees them. Good intuition kinda thing. An empath for sure.

Very considerate and often remembers the little things about people. Does he remember what he learned in class just a couple days ago? Pffft heck no! Does he remember everyone’s birthday, every year and get them a very thoughtful gift? HELL YEAHH I LOVE THIS SWEET BOY OMFG 🩵

SHIRO 🖤

Honestly…idfk Shiro is so perf. Perfect baby boy all the way

Maybe he could seem too nice at first…? Like when someone is nice but ur like “are you for real? Or are you fake and evil and you’re hiding something?” I think Shiro could be perceived as being fake nice at first.

Omg I feel like Shiro is one of those “ oh no, that looks delicious but I can’t. I’m watching my carbs.” YOU KNOW SHIRO IS A GYM DUDE WHO COUNTS HIS CALORIES PLZ

Literally the most trustworthy man in the universe. Will defend his friends, loved ones, and planet until the end of time. Shiro would die before revealing any secrets you’ve asked him to keep. The best person to vent to bc he’ll never tell another soul about it. He’s like a personal diary

Shiro is sooooo patient. Definitely the most patient one on the team. He really does take his own advice…ya know, patience yields focus 😌 very sweet, calm man. We love Shiro

GIRL WILL WORK HERSELF TO DEATH PLZ GO CHECK UP ON HER, BRING HER FOOD AND WATER, GENTLY FORCE HER INTO BED SHE NEEDS SLEEP.

Lowkey kinda moody and can get snappy very easily. Pidge is a sweet heart and very smart and a good team player but she’s also stubborn and will yell to get her point across or make herself heard (she’s an Aries…what’d you expect?)

Sometimes very conceited and braggy about how smart she is. Like yeah Pidge, we know you’re a genius and you could code in your sleep. WE GET IT. UR SMART. GEEZ 😒

Green Flags ✅

Pidge is so baby. Yeah, she can get snappy and braggy sometimes but…SHES SO BABY PLZ FORGIVE HER. She’s just young and stressed okay? Give her a break. She’ll apologize eventually with puppy dog eyes and a soft voice and while she looks adorable, she is being sincere and really wants to resolve this.

Very loyal and determined. I mean look how hard she searched and fought for her dad and brother. She won’t stop for anything or anyone once she has her mind set. Pidge Will never leave you behind and will always turn back to help someone in need.

Boy is too scared sometimes. I think Hunk has really bad anxiety and it’s not the anxiety that is the red flag, it’s how he copes with it…which he doesn’t. Hunk let’s his anxiety get the best if him sometimes…but he’s trying.

Honestly…does Hunk really have any other red flags??? Baby boy is so sweet idk 🤷🏻

Over eats to the point of getting sick sometimes…and never learns his lesson. (Me asf)

Interrupts A LOT. In any given conversation, he will interrupt and talk over someone else at least once every minute. Can get really annoying sometimes but in his defense, if he waits too long to speak up, he’ll just totally forget what he was gonna say.

Like Lance, I think Matt would be overly flirty and act like a Fuck boy sometimes. Like bro sit your nerd ass down, that person is SOOO out of your league plz chill.

Can not take anything seriously (unless it comes to his family or his or anyone else’s safety) but day to day, Matt makes so many dumb and inappropriate jokes at the worst times. Ugh 😒

Green Flags ✅

Very brotherly to everyone he considers a friend or family. Protective, constantly checking up on others, making sure they have eaten, asking if they need anything from him. He cares a lot. Bonus points bc he’s a very good brother to his actual sibling too. Aww Pidge and Matt are sibling goals. 🥹

HOT AS FUCK NO MATTER HIS HAIR STYLE/LENGTH. You can fight me on this. Matt is gorg and so is his hair at every single moment throughout the show.

Unfortunate Circumstances (Keith x GN reader)

A/N: judging by how well this post does I’ll try and write more, if you have requests send them in I’ll write for all characters 🤍 and ships (klance nation I see you dw please give me something to write with those two) my friend asked for an x reader so this is what we’re doing first. reader is gender neutral in this one because everyone should feel included ofc!

Needless to say… you were stuck. Not even just stuck you were trapped with someone you could never in a million years be compatible with.

Keith Kogane, paladin of the red lion.

And a deranged smartass who ALWAYS had to be right about something… no matter what situation, if you were with Keith, it was his word against yours. And being the leader of Voltron it was almost always his word. Funny thing about it though he’d never act so rude and stand off ish to anybody else in the group… it was just you…

On a normal day you could definitely conquer this man’s attitude but this was in fact not a normal day. You were supposed to be relaxing after weeks of fighting and working against the galra but the universe had different plans. Very different plans..

“It’s just a small mission, just gather some samples for Coran and then you’ll be out in a few moments.” You remember Allura reassured you, patting your shoulder.

You gave a very hesitant smile, and continued to stride forward to the red lions hanger. Better to get this done and over with.

How silly you were to have hope for once…

“It was one simple task! How did you mess up THAT bad!?” You yelled into Keith’s ear.

You were both sitting in the red lions cockpit, Keith in the main seat and you leaning against the inner console next to him.

“In my defense I didn’t SEE that ship there!” He groaned, head in his hands.

He felt embarrassed. Not about the fact that he messed up on a mission, but about the fact that he messed up on a mission in front of you. And looking at your tense figure with your arms crossed and a sour look on your face just made it so much worse.

You wouldn’t ever know in advance, but he held you in way high regards. So much so that he found himself not being able to even have a normal conversation with you. Not like communication was his strong suit anyways. But it was a lot more worse with someone like yourself. He never could key in on the moment he started having romantic feelings for you. Sure the thought would creep up into his brain but he would just shove it away to be unheard of again. Because why would someone like you like someone like him? It never made sense in his brain. So he made it his mission to drive you away so you wouldn’t notice how much of a mess he is… But in doing so it wounded you guys here. Red was down trying to charge itself, and here you were yelling at him while he wallowed in his own pity.

“Well Keith where do we go from here?” You asked the pilot, who looked at you with something similar to… shame? Embarrassment? Yeah, something like that…

“the team knows where we are, it’s only a matter of time before they come for us. But until then, I guess we just sit tight and wait..” he trailed off, trying his best to avoid unnecessary eye contact with you.

“Whatever. At least it was you messing up this time instead of me.” You shrugged.

“Now I won’t have to get yelled at more than I have to.”

He straightened in his seat. And looked over.

“Excuse me?”

“You’re excused.” You muttered.

“No what did you mean by that? Who yells at you?” You sat in disbelief before giving him a slight look.

He seemed to get the message pretty fast and quickly looked away from you.

“Look- I’m sorry.”

You looked at him… “go on.”

“I don’t mean to take it out on you I just uh.. I just worry about you… is all.” You could see his face turn slightly red as he shielded it from your vision while you stared at him.

KEITH worries about YOU.

Well this surely was not on your bingo card this year. In a way it makes you feel sort of light inside, since now you can push all those intrusive thoughts about him hating you away… but also- KEITH WORRIES ABOUT YOU- and you’re being a dick by yelling at him for getting you two into this mess. You sighed as you started to walk out of the cockpit to exit the lion. Seeing this Keith scrambled out of his chair, running after you with a slight bit of worry.

“Wait where are you going?” He asked as he caught up to you.

The hanger door opened and you both exited the lion, you paused for a moment as your nose inhaled a new scent. One that you were definitely not used to.

You looked at him as you both stepped out, the coolness in the wind hitting you like ice as it blows through your hair.

“We need to talk Keith…”

• it really just got him off guard; you had been sparring together for the past how many minutes now, and keith managed to knock you down (again) and looked down at you with this cocky yet goofy-looking smile.

• he just looked so cute that the words “god, i love you so much” slipped out without a thought.

• “you just—” keith says, only now just processing that you were still on the floor and had been sticking your hand out as a sign for him to help pull you up.

• “i did,” you say, finally rising from the floor and giving him a wide smile. “and i mean it. i love you, keith.”

• “i love you, too,” he says, face softening.

• and you take this opportunity to finally bring him down to the ground.

• it was late; matt was working on some project that he’d started with pidge, and pidge had gone to bed a while ago. you thought you’d keep him company and be there for any assistance, and also just to make sure he didn’t accidentally fall asleep on his desk, as he had a tendency to do that.

• you assumed to be another of their gadgets—probably some sort of little robot.

• he was muttering things to himself, reminding himself where certain parts were supposed to go, what to tighten or loosen. occasionally, matt would turn to you and remind you that you don’t have to stay up with him and you should probably go to bed. you gave him the same answer every time and assured him that you didn’t mind.

• he furrowed his brows as he tightened up several screws, and you quietly watched with a small smile on your face.

• “you’re cute when you’re focused,” you tell him, leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek. “i love you.”

• immediately, his face heats up, completely red when he turns his head to look at you. “what?” matt asks, “you, what?”

• “i love you?” you repeat, laughing as matt drops everything and cups your face, planting kisses all over.

• “oh my god, i love hearing you say that. i love you, i love you, i love you,” he says, completely smothering you.

I found out apparently DreamWorks made a whole ass other scene/script for Adam/Shiro in the flashback where they're best friends and have been flight partners for four years

And while that sucks just imagine with me two scenarios:

1) Adam still dies and Shiro remembers more of his time with Adam because he never got to tell his best friend how he actually felt despite everyone around them (Keith included) saying that the feelings were mutual but they never got together. Shiro possibly wishing that Adam would ask for Shiro to stay for him. Adam dying thinking his best friend and love of his life is dead. Back in their shared space, Shiro finds a journal and in it are multiple love letters/confessions from Adam to Shiro throughout the years. The second to last one was either pre/post Kerberos with Adam wondering if he's too late to confess, would Shiro stay if he asked? But how could he ask that of his best friend? The last one being just hours prior to Adam being sent out with the other MFE's and Adam admitting that he still loves Shiro after hearing that Shiro is still alive but having the feeling that their last interaction prior to Kerberos was their last one and he wishes Shiro all the happiness in the world.

2) Adam doesn't die. He and Shiro reunite with Keith teasing them bc he's a little brother of course he's going to tease his big brother and his brother's crush. The two talk and get together but keeping it on the down low until after the battle. After all, neither knows if either or both will survive this and they don't want any pity looks if one of them doesn't survive. Shiro is safe in the Atlas, he survives. No one knows about Adam for hours after the final strike, Shiro is worried and only Keith is keeping him sane. Shortly after sundown James, Ryan, Ina and/or Nadia comes in with news of a survivor just miles outside of the Garrison that the rest of the aforementioned found and are bringing back to base. Adam.

Shiro rushes to the infirmary where Hunk, Allura, Lance, and Pidge are wondering why Shiro is jumpy with Keith and Matt remaining calm knowing well that if they freak it only make Shiro worse. Matt makes a comment about Shiro being worried for his boyfriend (Matt's known them for a while and introduced Keith to the idea of tormenting them both with teasing with Matt teasing Adam more bc Keith took Shiro). The others look at Matt for clarification, he gives Adam's name which Pidge freaks put about bc Adam was her favorite teacher and her advisor - also Adam knew who Pidge was and called her Katie when it was just them - and she never knew that Adam knew Shiro or her brother.

Adam is allowed one to two guests at a time and everyone looks at Shiro. Shiro is the only one that goes in and remains all night. The next morning the two go and meet the others at breakfast (Adam discharged), their hands clasped together behind their backs. While the others are still unaware that Adam and Shiro are a thing Matt starts saying *how the biggest flirt from their time at the Garrison has met his match. Which confuses including Keith so Matt goes on about how Shiro was a completely different person during their time as cadets at the Garrison.

*I've seen some people say that Shiro was a lot like Lance when he was younger (I don't know if that's something that was said by the creators or a strong fanon but I love it either way) and I love that so much. I just imagine that it stuns Keith for a minute like he cannot look at Shiro without imagining him saying one of Lance's pick-up lines.
