my two cents on Husn by Anuv Jain:
it starts right in the middle of the feels. you start by unwrapping all the packed sadness you've kept on the shelf. and as it progresses, you can feel that it stops being a song, it really brings you to this collective place we all go to when we're sad.
it's like my friend is telling me their story and i feel how they think they're okay and then they say "Lagta mujhe, mere naam ka, zikr kahi bhi hoga nahi" and the facade breaks. they realise they'll not even be remembered and it's not okay. they've been completely broken to the point of giving up but they can't.
"Meri aankho mein dekho" (😭) are the exact words we've felt and said to someone and desperately wished for. it's a cry for love, and if you haven't already started crying, you'll be bawling by now. this is where i broke. the sheer raw feels hit so bad. the amount of care i have inside me just floods out because he's broken all my nicely made dressing.
And then suddenly they just come out of it, "Dekho dekho kaise kheechi lakeere" and "Main iss daud mein nahi". Haha, right, the dissociation begins and you try to cover the wound until next time (which mostly is immediately afterwards because this song is on loop)
yes I'm a masochist

you should smile more.
Set up- basically Frank, Jules and Su vibing together, and Su teasing Jules with lil necking and kisses. Jule protests a little ‘cause she doesn't like to submit all too often, and leads to Su smirking, straddling Jules, who huffs at the movement.
"Hey, don't pout, you look so much prettier when you smile~" That comment immediately got Jules to scowl, and a sort of fight or flight kicked in. Her right hand clenched to a fist and swung hard, socking Su straight on. There's a small beat, just a second, as both could feel a final pulse rush through their heads before the blood starts.
Jules pulled away her hand, pulling away from the resistance she felt. Her knuckles had started to bleed-- No... Not her blood, as she found, and as Su screamed to confirm, "FUCK!!"
Susie tilted her head forward, her hands lifting off of Jules to move to her nose, muttering curses under her breath, though little could be understood past the initial shout. With her head tilted down, more blood had started to flow, dropping onto Jules' shirt.
"...Did you just-"
Frank made to speak, though grew quiet as Susie moved to stand, a whimper in her throat as she held back from crying. Less for the fact that she didn't want to cry, no, lordy she did. It was for the fact that if she did, she'd inhale her own blood, and that's worse than crying. She hurried off out of the room as fast as she could, bleary eyes and everything.
Jules pulled herself to sit up, her lips agape as she made to speak, though nothing could come out. No apologies, no explanation, just silence- dumbfounded to what just happened. Some random jock, sure, but Su? She was only teasing...
"...Hey. Julie," Frank spoke, breaking the silence. He patted her on the shoulder, with a bit more force than normal, tugging her forward, "I know, I get it, but if you did what I think you did, we need to go help her. Apologise later, okay?"
Julie nods. The motion is enough for Frank, as he gets off the bed as well, pulling Jules along with him, and they follow the trail Susie left behind.
 ---
Luckily, Susie wasn't delirious enough to leave the house. The two follow her trail to the kitchen as she tries to pad up the bleeding, along with a plastic cup in hand to spit out what that fell into her mouth.
"Jules, go get something from the freezer," Frank said, his voice soft, yet firm. He pulled away, stepping toward Susie to hold the cup for her, saying something Julie didn't... quite register.
Jules' feet carried her towards the garage and to the freezer outside, grabbing what she assumed would be fine. Bag of peas? Flexible, cold, good enough.
Once nabbed, she hurried inside, the soft sound of sobs now audible as Su's throat allowed her. Accompanying was Frank's voice, trying to ease her cries, gently sushing as best he could. Jules stepped onto the title of the kitchen, holding out the bag to Frank.
Frank gestures behind him, "Wrap it in a towel you can clean, or one your parents don't care about."
Typically, Jules would take that and twist his words back with a snarky remark, but with the only sound being Su's anguish, she held her tongue. She nabbed a dish towel and wrapped the bag of peas in it, holding it back out to Frank. He takes it this time, and pulls the cup out of Susie's hand, who takes a moment to quiet down as Frank spoke,
"Su, I want you to take this and hold it against your nose. It's going to hurt and sting, but I want you to keep it there. Don't force it, but make sure it stays on, okay?"
Frank holds out the wrapped bag to Susie, who looks at it and takes it in her quivering hands. She manages a mangled and thick, "O..kahy..."
Then, Su does as Frank told her, placing the pack against her nose. A sharp mewl escaped her as she first placed it on, but with a little encouragement, she kept it on, her cries dying down as the pain lessened. The next spell passes quietly, all three not talking much. When the bleeding seemed to have stopped, Jules suggested they got Susie sitting, so she wouldn't get lightheaded. Frank nodded, and the party shifted to the living room. Su curled up at one end of the couch, Frank sat in the middle, and Jules sat on the opposite side.
It was quiet for a while, Jules and Frank watching to make sure Su didn't pass out. She didn't, but God, she sure looked a mess. Her hoodie and ends of her hair had a mix of what was probably blood and saliva down the middle, the cuffs well coated as well as she'd held her nose there. Neither could see the actual wound, but Frank said it was best not to look until their 'ice pack' grew cold. He'd said he'd look at it then and give her some tylenol, but wanted to wait a bit for it. So they waited, and the seconds drew on like minutes...
Fuck... I really did that, was really the thought passing through Julie's mind. That, and other things, like how to make up for it, what to say, how to say-- but nothing quite came to mind as easily as the guilt.
Though the concentration broke when Susie spoke up, mumbled through her mess of a mouth, "..sss..o... Frankie... Wanna tehll me how ya got the scar?"
It took Frank a moment before putting together that she probably meant the one on his nose, and he smirked afterwards, "Yeah, I got in a fight with these huge basta-"
Susie whined, interrupting him, "No."
"...No?" Frank turned to look at her.
Susie stared right back, sticking out her tongue just enough to blow a pitiful raspberry (which resulted in more spit than one would think), "The real story, dingus."
Frank's eyes widened a little, before he rubbed his neck, "..Uh... well... When I was 14, I was playing baseball-"
"Yu!! Dun play baseball!!!" Susie kicked him in the thigh, lightly, before huffing, "The real, REAL story."
Jules leaned forward a bit, watching the two more closely. She'd never gotten to hear it either. He always came up with some sort of lie to cover whatever the cause was. Now, 1there is no lying.
"Com'on... I'm broke too! Dun I get te story to commiserate?" Susie pouted, leaning back against the arm rest of the couch.
Frank gave a weak chuckle, before bowing his head, "...I was five. I don't remember."
Su seemed content with that answer, but Jules wasn't. She shifted and lightly flicked Frank with her non-bloody hand, "You remember everything."
Frank grumbled a bit, "Hey!! Haven't you caused enough pain to your partners today?"
Jules didn't move, but Frank could feel the death stare behind him, glowering at the back of his head with the intensity of the sun. He gave off another little chuckle, dry and heavy, "Y-yeah? What I meant is..."
With a sigh, he continued, "...I crashed into the foster families' mailbox at the time like I was Bart Simpson, ‘cause their son put me on a skateboard and pushed me down the drive."
As the truth came out, Susie began to snicker, with a snort escaping her soon after that caused her to whine. Jules let out a laugh herself, while Frank sighed and bowed his head further, "...I thought I looked so cool, and then, bam. Out like a light. Looked like Tom the cat, straight out of Looney Toons."
Susie continued to laugh, careful not to laugh too hard, and Julie smiled, seeing she wasn't too bad off...

Holi Hai!
Pairing: Loki x Desi!F!Reader
Warnings: None
Genre: Pure Fluff
Requested: By @marvel-madness
Hi there! Could you do a Loki x Desi American!reader where she takes everyone to a holi festival? And it’s super adorable and kinda crack!fic at the same time?
Summary: Y/N, an American born Desi, takes her friends, the Avengers, to India to show them what a real party looks like.
Author's Note: Hi!!! A huge thanks to @marvel-madness for requesting this fic and sending the prompt! It was amazing to write! For the Indian friends, I used the names of my own friends (and I oop). I hope y'all desis reading this enjoy it! Sorry if it's crappy I tried my best—
---
Loki stared at his girlfriend of 8 months in confusion. He was confused as to why she was staring at the calendar so longingly. "Um, love, is anything—" She groaned loudly, startling him. "I wanna go! I wanna go home so bad! Haaye mein mar jawa…" That phrase was spoken in Punjabi, even though Loki knew his girlfriend was of Marathi origins.
He didn't understand it, but her sadness was clear. "What happened? Where do you want to go?" he asked soothingly, wrapping his arms around her. "Back to India! The festival of Holi is in a week and my family is inviting me. I want to go, but…" she sighed, turning around in his arms. Y/N was a second generation desi American, her parents having moved to New York.
Y/N was born here, but she had a lot of family back in India. She loved Bollywood, the Indian festivals, the culture, the food, everything. Every year, she went to India during the festival of Holi, it being her favorite one. This year, though, things seemed difficult. Now she was a part of the Avengers and had a lot of work. If only she could get a 2 week break.
"But what? You have to go! It's your favorite festival, you've told me that a hundred times," Loki scoffed as she buried her face in his chest. "I know! But the Avengers, my work…" she whined. "Don't worry about that, we'll be fine," Loki laughed. Suddenly, she had a brilliant idea. They should go to India with her! "Why don't you come with me?"
"Me? Uh… okay, I don't have plans, visiting India sounds nice…" Loki stammered, taken aback. "Not only you, all of you! Thor, Tony, Steve, Nat, Bruce, Clint, Wanda, Vision, Sam, Bucky… I'll take you to a brilliant Holi festival! You'll have a lot of fun," Y/N said excitedly, jumping up and down. Loki smiled softly at her excitement.
"Why don't we call a meeting and ask them?"
Fifteen minutes later, all the aforementioned people were assembled in the sitting room, smiling at the couple. "So, did Loki propose? Are you getting married? Is Y/N pregnant?" Loki and Y/N rolled their eyes at Tony's questions while the others laughed. "This one is pretty mild. I have a question to ask you all." Steve beckoned for Y/N to go on, everyone listening attentively.
"As you all know, the festival of Holi is a week away, and I've been to India for the festival every single year of my life. This year, too, there isn't a problem with me going there but I wanna ask… any of you interested in tagging along?" For a few seconds, all was silent. Y/N grew nervous, should she not have asked? She got startled badly when everyone cheered loudly.
"We're going to India! We're going to India! Finally!"
A wide smile bloomed on Y/N's face; she glanced at Loki to see him already looking at her with a smile of his own. "Okay, my dudes, start packing! We leave tomorrow! Can we borrow your private jets, Tones?" He agreed instantly, hugging Y/N. "We better get to packing," Steve laughed, running out of the room with Nat, Wanda, Sam and Bucky.
---
"Ugh… so… hot…"
"It was your idea to come to India, Y/N."
"Yeah, we feel fine."
Y/N glared at her teammates, which caused them to look at her smugly. Their jet had just landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, in Mumbai. One of Y/N's relatives lived in a huge apartment complex in Mumbai, and she had invited their other relatives, too. Every year, that complex saw the best Holi party ever, complete with water, colours, bhaang, songs and dance.
Y/N had been there a couple times. The Avengers and herself had decided to stay at a nearby hotel. Being 12 people, they had booked 6 double rooms in one of the hotels at the airport, called Grand Hyatt. The entire trip was sponsored by Tony Stark. Since Tony and Bruce spoke Hindi a little bit and Y/N… well, she was Indian, they decided to get 3 cabs.
In one cab sat Loki, Y/N, Thor and Vision, in the second sat Tony, Steve, Wanda and Nat while in the third cab sat Bruce, Clint, Sam and Bucky. Their cab arrived at the hotel, they checked in and went to their rooms.
---
"Loki, Lokes, wakey-wakey!"
Loki blinked his eyes open at the persistent awakening, turning over on the hotel bed. Y/N grabbed his shoulder, shaking him. "What? It's… 7 in the morning!" he whined shamelessly, pushing her hands away. "It'll take us 15 minutes to reach the apartment complex but the celebrations start early there," Y/N insisted. He sighed, right, today was the day of Holi.
"Fine, I'm getting up," he muttered as he sat up. Y/N stood in front of him, wearing a white kurti and white pants underneath. She looked so beautiful, he couldn't resist pulling her on his lap. "Loki," Y/N chuckled bashfully as he kissed her cheek. She turned her head to face him and placed a proper kiss to his lips. "That dress is beautiful, like you," he whispered to her.
She giggled, giving him a hug. "Okay, go get ready, I need to wake the others up," she smiled, pushing away from him. He nodded and stood up, stretching. He picked up his suitcase which was kept in the corner of the room while Y/N left to wake the others up. He picked out a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
Y/N had explained to the others how wearing white during the festival was the best option. Everyone had brought along a white tee to wear. He first cleaned up and wore his clothes, finally sitting down to apply some oil to the exposed parts of his body. Y/N said it helped the colours come out faster. After preparing, he grabbed the room keys and left, locking the door.
---
"Y/N! How are you? I thought you wouldn't visit this year," Krsna, one of Y/N's friends, grinned as she moved to hug her. The Avengers quietly stood behind, taking in all the beautiful sights. The buildings were decorated, there was a drinks table nearby, the colours were neatly kept on another table and nearly 30 other people there. Many children, a few adults and even fewer oldies.
Since Y/N visited the apartment complex nearly every single year, you could say she practically grew up with the kids there, meaning Krsna and a few others. They had formed a strong bond.
Most of the kids were staring at these foreigners in shock and awe. "Hell no! I wouldn't miss my favorite festival for anything. Meet my friends." Krsna gathered a few of her friends too, namely Shruti, Drishti, Harsh and Ritvik. "This is Loki," Y/N introduced first. Loki moved forward to wrap his arms around his girl from behind, smiling at her Indian friends.
"Oooh," Harsh smirked, which earned him a slap on the arm from Krsna. "Kadhi pasun?" Drishti asked cheekily, crossing her arms. "Since 8 months," Y/N replied, shaking her head. She quickly introduced the others too. They were a bit surprised, because holy hell, the Avengers but they got over their shock immediately. "This place looks nice," Wanda commented.
"Thank you! We usually start preparing a week before Holi," Ritvik grinned. Harsh, Drishti and Ritvik decided to give the Avengers a tour of the apartment complex and they readily agreed to go along with them. Loki, Y/N, Tony, Natasha, Krsna and Shruti decided to stay back. "Tujhya mom dad la mahiti aahe?" Shruti questioned, motioning towards Loki.
"Ho! Tyana kahi farak nahi padla," Y/N laughed, sending a smile in Loki's direction. "New York ka kya? Isne hi kiya tha na? News mein dekha meine…" Krsna asked worriedly. "Don't worry about that! Abhi thik ho gaya hai ye…" Y/N winked. Loki was trying his hardest to decipher what they were saying, but all in vain. As Tony stood to the side, listening to the three ladies talking in their native tongue, he noticed a few people walking up to him.
They were small kids, around 8-9 years old. "Happy Holi!" one boy grinned, raising his colour filled hands up to wipe them on Tony's cheeks. Tony grinned broadly, taking some colour to return the favor. "Happy Holi, kid!" he said happily. Natasha joined him, applying some red colour to the kids' cheeks. The kids led them somewhere and the two of them went readily.
Y/N looked around the place, trying to find her friends. She smiled proudly when she saw everyone enjoying themselves. A few of them were talking to the adults, most of them were playing with the kids and Wanda was following Drishti, who was teaching her a dance step to the songs that were playing. The scene warmed her heart. As she enjoyed the scene, a water balloon collided hard with her back.
She turned, shocked, only for Loki to cover her face in pink colour. He ruffled her hair, screaming 'Happy Holi'. "Grr, get back, a-hole!" she screamed, quickly wiping her face before she took off running after him. Krsna handed her a water balloon and with expert precision, Y/N threw it at Loki. It hit his back. He turned around and smirked at her.
She grabbed a handful of colour and went to each of her friends, applying colour to their faces and wishing them a happy holi. She chatted with some of the aunties of the society, and also wished her relatives. Soon, the volume of the songs increased and party, holi songs started playing. The first song was Balam Pichkari. Y/N cheered loudly, dancing along with some of the others.
"Balam pichkari, jo tune mujhe maari, toh seedhi saadhi chori sharabi ho gayi!" Y/N sang along, enjoying very much. Loki stood to the side and took out his phone, discreetly taking a few photos as she enjoyed. By the end of 2 hours, all the Avengers were soaked in water, every single colour visible on their clothes, their faces and their hair. They were a bit drunk, having had nearly 4 glasses of bhaang each. Still, they had huge grins on their faces.
"Stay for lunch! We also organize lunch! After lunch and ice cream, we also have a game of housie but I'd understand if you—" Y/N scoffed, cutting off Ritvik's trail of words. "We're staying for as long as we can! We'll be back in about an hour, after cleaning up." She checked the time, it was 12 noon. "Sure, sure. We'll be waiting. Bye!" Harsh, Krsna, Shruti, Drishti and Ritvik waved as the Avengers walked out of the complex.
"Did you enjoy?" Y/N asked the Avengers immediately. "Of course we did! This was the most fun I've had in years. I wanna celebrate Holi every year now," Wanda squealed. Everyone agreed with her. "See? Indian festivals, always the best," Y/N winked. They booked cabs, went to their hotels and cleaned up, taking a bath and wearing fresh clothes.
They went back to the apartment complex just in time for lunch. Everyone there had also cleaned up. As Y/N watched her friends mingle with her Indian friends, she made up her mind— to bring the Avengers to every single Holi party from that year onwards.
---
A/N: Yeeeee!!!! I'm sad because I couldn't play Holi this year [one of my relatives passed away, RIP :')] but writing this released dopamine in my brain.
For those of you who don't know-
Balam Pichkari is very famous Bollywood song related to Holi
Bhaang is kind of an alcoholic drink prepared from milk (?)
I've mostly used Hindi and Marathi since those two are the Indian languages I speak (I can also speak Gujarati and understand Telugu, which is my father tongue) but yeah :/
I hope you like this!!

Bergen Jeg var i Bergen og handlet på et kjøpesenter (it was rectangular). Da jeg endelig kom tilbake til hotellet oppdaget jeg at jeg ikke hadde på meg bukser, jeg var naken fra livet og ned. Oh no! My fanny pack  with my wallet, my keys, my capo, picks, my notebooks, everything is connected to my pants and therefore must be with my pants outside that shopping mall type thing. I saw a security guard standing outside and explained the situation, I had lost my pants, my fanny pack and everything in it. But I feared this was not the right shopping mall! Bergen had turned huge.
«Are there any more shopping malls here?» Merdo.
«Yeah buildings often are square or rectangular it has to do with the way round buildings attracts glowing ghosts and other things people find strange»
Jeg begynte å føle meg ukomfortabel uten bukser. Why not go inside the store and steel some underwear? They wouldn't suspect me of stealing underwear if I just put it on inside the store.
«Ja, men dette hadde en parkeringsplass utenfor...»
He stared at me like if I was making a joke and then he turned around and left.
«Hey you! No way I was getting arrested for stealing underwear, I'm claustrophobic, a cell wouldn't suit me. Ua holo au a holo aʻike koke ihola wau ua puni koʻu pūkoi i kuʻu mau kukui e like me nā keiki uʻi i kēia lā. Ua lele wau mai kahi pali mai a pae i loko o kahi pola nui. Ua nānā au ma hope oʻu a ua pale ka pale kiaʻi, akāʻaʻole makemakeʻo ia e lele ma hope oʻu. Jeg var fri!

• minhyun finds you intimidating - but who wouldn’t
TYSM for requesting anon! haven’t written a proper scenario in awhile, kind of missing it, kind of missing bullet points. Sorry this is really lacking, I was super busy packing and getting ready for holiday. :( Apologies.

“Okay, so, it’s the new year soon enough and all of us will be Seniors, how do you guys feel?” Daniel asks, taking a long sip of his mug of cola.
Sungwoon sighs, eyes dreamy and reminiscing of the past. “Oh wow, the years just flew by so quickly. It felt like I just got my acceptance letter yesterday.”
Eyeing his younger brothers, Seongwoo giggles. “Ah, you guys will be Freshman next year. Be nice to Professor BoA, she’s a good lecturer and, she’s also the discipline mistress.”
Jinyoung gulped, drifting his gaze to his glass mug of soda, wondering why he was at his hyungs house warming anyway.
“Ahh! Professor Kahi and Lecturer Don Mills are very nice people as well, I’m sure you guys will enjoy their classes,” Jaehwan added. “I know I’m scheduled for one of Professor Teddy’s lectures next year, how’s he like?”
Immediately, Jisung put down his glass mid drink. “Wait! I have a lot of things to tell you! Okay, so you know how he has this...”
Minhyun tuned out to the loud chatter of his friends, sighing and tapping the sides of his own cup. There was so much he needed to plan for and handle in the upcoming year, it was pressing. Being the Vice-President of the school’s chemical and life sciences society, he had a lot on his plate. It was a pressuring role but Minhyun enjoyed his club activities and chores.
And I still need to do those slides on Criminal Law....let’s just make him a law major here ok?
“Guys, how about we make a pact?” Seongwoo offered, a harmless playful glint in his eyes.
“What kind of pact?” Jihoon enquired, even though he would only be a Junior next year and would not be involved.
Daniel chewed on his bottom lip, brows furrowed. “How about....”
“Asking your crush out!” Jisung offered, nearly falling out of his seat. “Yes!”
Woojin groaned but tried to cover it up with a cough. “Not this again...” he muttered to Jihoon, who nodded in agreement.
All year, they had to listen about their hyungs talk about their love lives and crushes. It must have been a side effect of all the stress from college. Surprisingly, Minhyun was the only one who had not revealed anything. He was always listening in attentively though.
“Ahh, I want to see who Minhyun hyung asks out,” Jaehwan pointed out. “We haven’t heard much from him at all.”
Minhyun chuckled, trying to fight of the redness that was creeping up his neck. “Ah no, that’s because I don’t have a crush on anyone at the moment,” he replied, hoping that his friends would buy it.
Snickers filled the small living room everyone was cramped in - but none of them complained because the company was more than sitting on the sofa. Minhyun could never lie to his friends.
“Hyung, you can’t lie to us, we’ve been living in his apartment for a whole two weeks and I’ve known you since high school, you can’t lie to me,” Jaehwan pestered, reading Minhyun’s face well. “I major psychology too.”
What does that have to do with anything?
Minhyun tried to keep his cool, fighting to suppress his laughter and a smile. He shied away from the rest of the questions, holding his glass of soda to his lips.
“Hyuuuuunngggg!” Daehwi dragged out as he flopped onto the sheep skin carpet in front of Minhyun. “You won’t even tell me?” Daehwi widened his eyes and stuck out his bottom lip, giving Minhyun the irresistible puppy-dog face.
That was how Daehwi got away with everything.
Minhyun rolled his eyes but brought the younger boy up to the couch for a hug, squishing Jaehwan off a little.
“That brat,” Jaehwan hissed under his breath. “Trying to collect all the hyungs.”
But he knew that Daehwi owned him as well.
“So, pact?” Daniel offered hopefully, a cheeky smile playing at his lips. “Last one to complete or break it treats all of us to barbecue.”
There was a moment of contemplation before one by one, all of the soon-to-be Seniors agreed.
Seongwoo crept closer to Daniel, pressing up to him against the sofa. “Niel-ah...I like you, let’s date.”
Then, he got up and did a celebratory dance, leaving Daniel to absorb in the information with his jaw dropped.
Three months into the pact and Minhyun was nowhere near meeting his end goal. Not because he still could not find a single soul to crush on but...but because his crush was...you.
And the worst part, the part that probably got in the way of him and you the most, the part that would surely prevent him from asking you out and the part, was that Minhyun was completely intimidated by you - so was a good half of the student body.
You were the president of the Current Affairs and Debating Club, treasurer of the Student Council and the relative of the college’s Headmistress.
Totally not scary at all, not one bit.
It was not just your achievements or social status but your personality scared the hell out of people. Everyday, you walked through the halls with your lips pursed, a serious glint in your eyes and your fashion sense on point.
Truthfully, you were just as friendly and bright as anyone else, your friends know all too well and never take the dramatic rumours stirred about you seriously. Just because of your reputation, everyone just assumed you were trouble, maybe your killer gaze had added to that fact.
“What the heck...” you cursed, dropping to the cold concrete to pick up the files and papers that fell from your arms - most of them regarded your club or Student Council affairs.
Ugh, why did I need to drop them? I’m nearly late for today’s afternoon meeting.
Suddenly, a pair of well-worn sneakers came into view as someone squatted down next to you, shuffling a couple sheets of documents in their hands.
Hwang Minhyun.
Hwang Minhyun.
A fellow member of the Student Council and the Vice-president of Chemical and Life Sciences Society.
Also the name of the charming man who had stolen your heart.
Standing up, you could feel your legs starting to tremble out of nerves and excitement from being so close to your crush.
Taking a deep breath, you collected your thoughts and emotions then smiled at Minhyun before removing the articles from his arms.
“Thanks,” you said, tone unintentionally clipped and sharp. If you said more, your voice would surely crack.
Without a second glance, you strutted off for the meeting room, forgetting the fact that Minhyun was headed the exact same way as you.
Run, run, run as far as you can away from Minhyun! If not, you’ll be a complete mess.
The sudden slam of the door shocked the rest of the council members who were already gathered around the long table. They stared at you, perplexed by your flushed face and seemingly out of place hair.
“Are you...” Kyla pulled her lips into a thin line when the person you were escaping from entered the room. A couple of the other board members let out hushed giggles.
As Minghao took head count, you tried to recover, arranging a couple of files and catching your breath.
Think about the work you have to do later and shut up about Minhyun!
You yanked out the wires from Vernon’s laptop so aggressively that he hopped out of his chair to check if all was well. He decided to help you set up your equipment that day.
“All right, everyone accounted for?” you questioned Minghao, who nodded and handed you the clipboard. “Good. Let’s start our meeting today.”
Usually, you were fine and bubbly around your board but today, you felt more tensed and serious.
It’s Hwang, he’s driving me crazy in the best way.
“Wow.”
Your eyes rolled at Kyla’s straightforward comment, shaking your head as you packed away your backpack.
“What was today all about? Who made you so mad? I nearly got goosebumps just listening to you talk today,” she groaned, rubbing her arms.
Freshman don’t know anything.
“Yeah! She’s right. You practically damaged his laptop and tore the clipboard out of my arms today!” Minghao wailed, gesturing to Vernon’s computer and then to himself. “I think I need to see a doctor.”
With a wave of your hand, you dismissed the issue and shut the both of them up. “It’s just Senior year stress,” you lied, avoiding all eye contact, but they probably would have bought the fib either way.
“Please,” Roa scoffed playfully, making her way into the conversation. “We all know it’s him that you’re affected by.”
You wanted to wipe her smug smile off or shave her wiggling eyebrows off. “Oh, gosh, grow up and stop spewing nonsense like this.”
With one strap of your backpack swung around your shoulder, you stormed out of the room, face tinting pink.
Roa skipped out after you and caught your shoulders, she linked arms with you and continued as if all was normal.
“Roa....” you sighed, knowing that her grilling would start anytime soon.
She stopped in her tracks and put her hands on her hips. “Why can’t you just ask him out? Is it that bad?” Her emphasis on ‘that’ made you ponder.
Eventually, you shook your head sadly and continued walking. “That can’t be it. It’s whatever, I’ll handle it.”
There was no way Hwang Minhyun was ever going to agree to go on a date with you. Never. Have you seen this man? He’s top class boyfriend material yet he’s never dated anyone. Rumour has it that he wants to focus on his studies instead of his love life, which you respected but it kind of crushed you.
Even after all these years in the Student Council together, the opportunity to talk and grow closer never came. It was quite upsetting if you were honest.
As far as you knew, Minhyun majored in law - like many others here - and even though it was a heavy major, he enjoyed his Chemical and Life Sciences Club and played an important role in the Student Council. He was a key member of this campus clique called Wanna One and came to school everyday either in a smart button down and slacks or a branded shirt - Supreme, Champion etc - and skinny jeans.
Minhyun had never dated a single soul on campus, perhaps he considered himself a lover of the law or married to his friends.
How even...what does he do to maintain his grades and other hobbies...
Just thinking about that made you feel incredibly sick.
He reminded you of a fennec fox, face wise. Minhyun was quiet, with a stony expression on his face, one that looked like he wanted to kill everyone or he wanted to kill himself, there was no in between. He only added to the discussion when deemed appropriate and rarely spoke about his personal life to his acquaintances.
Apparently, he blabbered a lot to his friends and could crack a good joke or two. Under his cold exterior was a heart of gold, a heart that could capture anybody.
“Why?” Roa asked, nudging you and breaking your train of thought. “Why don’t you think it’ll happen? You guys would be adorable!”
You admired her cheeriness and attempts to encourage you. Anybody would be lucky to have your close friend as their girlfriend.
“I can’t see it you know...”
“I can! So can the rest of your friends, like Minghao, Vernon, Daniel, Kai...."
“Shush! Hwang’s way too out of my league!” you blurted out, after realising so, you smacked a hand over your mouth and one to your forehead.
Roa smiled slyly, a teasing glint in her warm eyes. “So, you admit that it’s him?”
“R-“
“Don’t worry about it. I’m sure you guys will get together soon enough. Just ask him out!” She patted your back before linking arms once again and walking back to the dorms.
Minhyun let out a huff, stumbling down the lane that led to his apartment complex. His fingers wrapped around the itchy plastic of a 7/11 plastic bag, carrying the supper for Wanna One. Since he was the one who ended school the latest, he was on snack run.
Hastily, he scanned his card and made it through the front gate then to the lift lobby just as the doors of the lift were closing.
“Wait!”
Miraculously, they stopped and began opening with a wave on his hand. He let out a sigh of relief.
That sigh turned into one of disbelief and agony after he saw who was inside.
You.
And Roa.
“Oh! Hi Minhyun!” Roa greeted cheerfully, nudging you in the ribs.
You forced your lips into a smile, all your features hardened with the nerves that came with being so close to your crush.
Ugh, goodness, they didn’t even look at me...and that smile is so forced.
He just nodded- maybe in disappointment-before playing with his phone, scrolling up and down, tapping on random apps.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, the elevator reached the floor he lived on. Minhyun quickly bid you two goodnight before disappearing like The Flash. He shuddered, planting a hand on his chest to calm his racing heart, at least his face had not gone fire engine red.
“Ah, gosh, they’re so intimidating.”
Months into the pact: 8 months 2 days People who have not attempted to ask their crush out: Hwang Minhyun Number of people left to finish: 1 Person who completed it first: Ong Seongwoo [bold]
That was the ‘to-do list’ that Seongwoo and Daniel had been charting on the whiteboard that hung in the living room of their shared apartment. It was also the first thing Minhyun saw when he walked out of the kitchen, mug of coffee in his hand, still bed-headed and sleep-eyed and clad in his navy bathrobe.
He wanted to use his brand new vacuum cleaner on his friends’ heads.
“What the hell...” he muttered, grimacing before taking another sip of coffee.
Jisung let out a low whistle, watching the situation from the kitchen island where Sungwoon was having his breakfast. The marble was gleaming due to Minhyun’s excessive cleaning.
“Wait, isn’t it prom just take it like any dance thing season soon? You can ask them to prom!” Sungwoon suggested, feeling a tad bit bad for his friend. Minhyun’s love life was close to non-existent, he was always too busy with studies.
Jaehwan nearly spat out his coffee. “Do you think hyung will be able to ask them face to face? A prom date will be so much harder to find.”
A lightbulb illuminated in Jisung’s head. He slid off the barstool and sat next to Minhyun on the sofa.
“Don’t worry, I think I have a plan.”
When a certified romantic, wise elder says they have an idea, you should probably trust them.
And that’s what Minhyun did.
Giggles.
Small laughter was the first thing you heard as soon as you walked into the lecture theatre on Thursday. Some classmates even had the audacity to point at you while their other hand smother their chuckles.
Irritated and confused, you marched to your usual seat with more force than intended, probably shocking your neighbours.
“Woah,” Roa hissed, taking her seat beside you. “What’s got you so worked up?”
“Noth-“
Your eyes fell on a white paper coffee cup, it seemed to be one from the cafe near campus, but it was decked out with a cute sparkly heart sticker and an orange post-it.
You felt your jaw fall open in surprise and disbelief. Curiosity filled your insides as you detached the note to read.
Heard you had a rough day yesterday Y/N, hopefully this will cheer you up! ❤
Just to double check, you flipped the note around to look for a signature, or any sign of whoever had sent this mysterious gift. There was none, it was a blank note.
Strange.
“Did anyone see who left this here?” you spoke out, hoping for a legitimate reply but as usual, half of your classmates only arrived a minute or so before lectures started and no one had a clue about the person who had left the drink there.
Peering at the liquid inside cautiously, you decided to take a small sip and found out that it was your regular order from the campus coffee shop. It tasted the same, no drugs, nothing funny inside.
Hmm.
You tucked the post-it into your wallet, wondering if you did indeed have a secret admirer. The thought of a person like that made redness rush to your cheeks. Despite all the possible bad endings, you clutched the coffee cup close to you, sighing dreamily.
Everyone had been so intimidated and scared by you, so it was safe to say your dating experience was very limited.
I’m delusional, this is crazy.
But somehow, it felt right.
Yesterday was crazy, it had started off with you bursting into the hall ten minutes after your fifth final paper started. Of course, your intelligence gave you a huge boost and you were able to finish it.
Then, as if that was not enough, you only had about fifteen minutes for lunch because you had to handle some Debate matters. All you had eaten was a small appetiser before dashing off for your second last final while flipping through notes.
Today would be the last day of finals and you were already in a good mood, off to a good start.
The next day, there was an exact replica of the gift bestowed to you yesterday, just a different note scrawled onto the post-it. The handwriting seemed too familiar yet too distant to distinct. It occupied your thoughts throughout the entire day.
Vernon, Roa and Minki had a lot of things to say, most of the words they said were mocking you or laughing at you.
“Is it not prom season soon?” Minki winked. After hearing his words, Roa and Vernon could only gawk at you, causing you to bury your head in your hands.
A prom date? Non-existent. You only ever went your date-less friends and had a blast, who said you needed a date to have fun? However, you felt anticipation rising, perhaps this year would be different. It was your last prom after all.
Sighing, you stirred your iced water around with your straw. “But who could it be? I don’t know anyone...who likes me romantically,” you reasoned.
Yet, his name popped into your head and all your friends could probably already guess it without you having to say a word.
“No, it can’t be. He’s too good. I’m delusional.”
Jihoon eyed Minhyun warily as he keyed in his order into the machine and the printer churned out his receipt. He knew that Minhyun was not the kind of guy to stray from his black coffee with minimal sugar and milk for too long, yet he had not ordered that in quite a while.
“Hyung,” he whispered. “Are you okay?”
Minhyun raised a brow, amused by the question. “Splendid actually. Why?”
Jihoon’s large doll-like went even wider but he said nothing, only sighed as he mixed up Minhyun’s order and delivered it properly - even drawing a heart in a different coloured Sharpie.
“H-how d-did y-y-you know?” Minhyun jumped back, hesitating to take the drink - well, your drink.
Smiling, Jihoon gave a playful shrug of his shoulders. “I just...know. All the best with later.”
Minhyun was finally going to ask you to prom and leave his name on the post-it, if it was not already crushed in his pocket. He could not keep his hands off it, checking every second to make sure it was still safely tucked in there.
The hallways were still yet to be illuminated as he crept along the corridors, leather shoes not making a squeak. He was used to arriving extra early to drop off the cup without being noticed.
He paused right outside the painted blue door, peering in to make sure no one was around. However, much to his horror, there was someone’s flashlight igniting the hall. The lamp on the lecturer’s table was also switched on.
Who could it be?
Gulping, Minhyun bravely stepped in, only to lose all of his courage in a second, it melted off him like wax.
You.
You sat, with your backpack, in your usual seat, swinging your legs and meddling with your phone.
“Oh, hello Minhyun!” you called out cheerfully, already knowing what he was here for. You swung out of your bench and climbed down the stairs to meet him.
“Is that for me?” The question came tumbling out of your mouth when you gestured to the cup, a smile playing at your lips, heart thudding and head spinning.
He did not argue, immediately offering up the cup with the post-it stuck on, you avoided reading today’s note. “Y-you knew?”
You nodded eagerly, you had waited for this day for a long time.
He slid into the bench as you shook out all the post-its he had been leaving for you.
“It had to be you. Why didn’t you just tell me?”
When he hesitated and stammered out some incoherent words, you nodded in understanding, blushing. “I get it, I intimidated the hell out of you...even after all those years in the same council.”
Ashamed, Minhyun could not bring himself to look you in the eyes. He was afraid of what you glossy orbs would tell him, they almost like magic globes.
The paper cup in your hands felt like a canvas that your future could be painted on - perhaps, the words PROM DATE were nicely painted on.
Your hand reached out to ruffle Minhyun’s neat hair, giving him a totally new look. His rosy red lips protruded into a pout but he said nothing.
Finally, your eyes scanned the post-it, and you took a double take, reading it over again and again.
P-R-O-M? Those letters rang like a bell in your head, fireworks and celebratory confetti washed over like a tidal wave.
“YES.”
At your words, Minhyun perked up, obvious surprise written all over his face, his face burst into colour and happiness soaked right into his bones.
“R-really?” It was like he could not believe those words had come out of your mouth.
You nodded happily, confirming your answer. “Let’s go be that intimidating power couple at prom.”
Eagerly, he agreed and laughed, already liking your hidden cheeriness. A shade of pink coated his cheeks, the ones that rose to meet his eyes whenever he grinned - personally, you loved that.
There was so much more under that your scary, icy exterior and Minhyun was willing to dig out more.
