prologue.

Sometimes, hating someone makes sense.

It happens because they’ve changed or the love between you doesn’t quite feel the same. It happens because you have no other choice and the person you once cared about is a ghost - nothing like who you would’ve once run over hot coals for. It happens because you hate who they’ve become; you mourn everything they used to be, all the things they no longer are. It happens because you’re left with all these pieces you don’t know what to do with - theirs and yours.

Sometimes, hating someone is the only thing you can do.

It doesn’t feel any better, though. It still hurts and you wonder if it’ll ever stop - whether the ache you feel every time you think of them might ever go away.

Someone had once said it would. They’d promised that time healed all wounds, one way or another. They’d said the pain would be less, not as sharp - something that sat in the back of your mind but never really called attention to itself. They said you’d get used to it and that was all you could ask for.

Three years later, you think they must’ve been lying.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Yoongi’s expression is tight, brows drawn in the same sharp lines as his mouth and jaw. He looks like he’s ready to throw the car into reverse and hightail it out of the parking lot - even though you’re already late and you’ve got your fingers wrapped around the door handle.

You smile once - it doesn’t quite reach your eyes - and nod. It’s a poor excuse for an affirmation.

“Are you sure?” Repeated, slightly louder and just a bit slower.

You’d be frustrated by his apparent distrust if you didn’t understand where it came from. You smile again, this time with more effort. Somehow, it’s almost as bad as your first attempt. “I’ll be fine, Yoongs.”

Your brother huffs a sound you’d recognize anywhere, exasperated and irate but ultimately, resigned. He knows you just as well as you know yourself - maybe better, if all those articles on sibling bonds were to be believed - and he knows he’s not going to change your mind. He’ll still grumble his way through the whole damn process, though.

Out of the car and over the asphalt, you hold hands. Knuckles twine effortlessly, years of practice instilling a certain sense of peace in your limbs as you cross the parking lot. You’re endlessly grateful he’d agreed to come with you. You know he’d rather be picking splinters out from under his own nails.

When you reach the front desk and give his name, you have to make a conscious effort to keep your voice from wobbling. It does still - just a bit, on the last syllable - but you’ve come a long way from crying over strawberries in the produce aisle. You find solace in that and in your brother’s presence, warm and unrelenting at your side.

The further down the pristine white hallways you go, though, the more it feels like your foundation is crumbling, that the Yoongi-shaped support beam might not nearly be enough against the earthquake of emotion.

You swallow thickly around a lump of apprehension as you pass into the quiet, private section of the building. The doors in this wing are few and far between; the rooms are so much larger, there are only two on either side of the hallway.

“I’m here.” It’s a reassurance as much as a reminder, squeezed into your palm when you reach the door at the end of the hall. It sits barely ajar, familiar name slotted into place beneath the room number.

Just one push and it’d swing right open.

“Do you want me to come in?” Yoongi knows he shouldn’t - for his and your sake - but he offers because he’s the best brother you could ever ask for.

You tell him as much, smoothing a kiss over his cheek before releasing his hand. “I’ll be fine.”

You repeat that over and over - a mantra you want to drill into your skull - as you step into the room and out of the hallway of sterile white lights and that strange smell that seems to only exist in hospitals. It’s slightly less invasive in this spacious suite, fresh cut flowers somehow masking the stench of antiseptic and death. The fluorescent glare doesn’t burn so badly either, dimmed to a reasonable level with the curtains against the far wall pulled open to allow the sun to shine through.

It’s a cloudy day, overcast with a chance of showers, but there’s enough light. Enough for you to see Jeon Jungkook, banged up and terribly small in his hospital bed - a world away from the young rockstar who’d once seemed larger than life.

You realize you, too, are a liar just like that person three years ago. Because you’re the farthest thing from fine.

“You came.”

First off all, I know why you sent this and it won’t stop me from adding to my WIP list

Second of all....21 that I can think of. Just for jjk.

🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?

Actually getting started. Writing isn’t easy for me per se, but I’ve been doing it pretty much every day (not just fanfic, I’m a CW major so the majority is for classes) for the past four years, so a lot of it is about getting momentum to push through so I have something to revise. Once I get started, writing is draining, but I know where I’m going and how I’m gonna get there. But my executive function is terrible, and I tend to burn myself out if I’m not careful.

Also, I can be overly ambitious. I mean, I have 21 WIPs right now, and I plan on finishing at least 15 of them. And I suck at writing anything under 2k words, and a lot of times end up closer to 10k+, which makes churning them out at an efficient rate difficult.

💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?

I’ve got a couple:

The first one is that Naoya gets the shit kicked out of him in the universe of every fic I write. Whether or not it actually appears in the story, know that he’s gotten his ass kicked by one of the characters. It just brings me joy.

The second one is about Twitch!AU, and specifically, Choso.

While Choso’s not as oblivious to the world as he is in canon, he’s still pretty new on the dating scene. He had to grow up quickly and raise his younger siblings, which meant very little time just for him.

So while he’s attractive and there have definitely been plenty of offers, Choso’s never been in a serious relationship. Since moving into their apartment across from Yuuji, Eso and Kechizu have tried setting him up with people, but he’s been really resistant to dating anyone, not because he doesn’t want to be in a relationship, but because he thinks he’s “late” to dating (which. Choso, you’re 27. Calm down.)

He’s also not used to the fact that Kechizu and Eso can fend for themselves, or that their younger siblings all have loving homes, so he’s still not used to having time to dedicate wholly to himself.

And, because he’s Choso, he’s a bit of a romantic, and kind of wants to meet someone without it being set up as a date. He wants something spontaneous. So when he gets trapped in that elevator with Yuki (and she shows obvious signs of being interested in him), something just feels right.

Soulmate AU questions

I do write a lot of Soulmate AUs! I think they’re such a fun trope! As for which ones are my favourite, I’m not certain if you mean “which are my favourite I’ve written” or “which are my favourite in general”, but I’ll answer both!

My personal favourite Soulmate AU that I’ve ever written is in an older fic of mine titled “Take It All” In case you haven’t read this fic, the Soulmate AU in it is “Soulmates find one another through touch. When one dies the other feels pain.” I then twisted that concept to “for Komaeda he receives names of everyone he touches but they never get his in return”.

However, as for my favourite Soulmate AUs in general, I really love indicators that can have a physical effect on the person(s). I love physical representations of a bond; it’s an image I find a lot of fun to play around with. I’m all for that Dramatic Reveal of the soulmate bond.

The bottom line of any Soulmate AU I write is, “how can I subvert this trope slightly?” and “How can I reveal the soulmate bond in a Dramatic Fashion?” In Take It All I changed the rules for Komaeda, adding an extra “condition” to how his soulmate indicator functioned. In a more recent fic, “I can’t kill you (so we must be destined to be together)” the mental image of not being able to kill your soulmate was enough to fuel me, but I also decided to add in the subversion of “what if both parties tried to kill the other for the reveal?”

Tropes I want to see more in fics

I think this largely depends on the fandom for the fic. I have some very niche things I want to see (which translates to “I have to do this myself”) but I also have some general things I want to see. Here they are:

-Outsider POV

-Crossovers

-Time Loops!!!!

-Magical Amnesia

-Traumatic Past comes to bite character(s) in the butt but their loved ones (who may or may not already know about this Traumatic Past) are there to comfort them.

-Found Family where a younger character needs their “parents” to come to an event/ the school to validate their excuse to leave. (-cough I’m high key thinking of Sk8 the Infinity here cough-)

-"I lied and said my sibling was in town but now I have to prove it, Quick please pretend to be my sibling even though we don't look Anything Alike."

- Characters who have hidden magic abilities being found out by the regular people in their lives. (Oops.)

- "Magical Shit (TM) keeps trying to get in the way of my life but I’m Determined to Remain Normal to my Coworkers/Classmates” (-cough Nanami from JJK- I keep promising myself I’ll write this.)

- "Everyone thinks we hate one another but we’ve been married for 10 years” Bonus: They Find Out

-Accidental Marriage/ Marriage Proposal

- “I’m Just The Messenger??? Why Are You Getting Mad At Me Delivering News To You??? Oh?? I’m Suspicious?? Me? I Have Nothing But Also Everything To Do With This Problem.”

- "Supernatural Deity/Being Meets a Human That They Become Enamoured By And Stick To Them Whether The Human Wants This Or Not” (Can be played for both comedy and tragedy).

-Reverse trope (to the one above) to where the Humans are desperate for the Supernatural Deity/Being’s attention but only for comedy.

Sukuna is known to learn a new technique just by seeing it once. So this is how big bro Yuuji teaches kid Sukuna how to perform a black flash.

Yuuji is not very good with the technical explanations, but Sukuna can get the gist of it. “Alright, I think a practical demonstration is in order! Watch closely, Sukuna!”. And in a single punch, black flash! Yuuji makes a whole through the wall.

“Now it’s your turn! Just do as I did!” Yuuji smiles. Black flash is one of his specialties, he currently holds the record for most consecutive uses in a fight, above even Gojo Sensei. Sukuna opens and closes his hand into fist once and twice before getting into position.

“It is very hard! Don’t worry if you can’t get it right on your first —”

Yuuji’s voice was muffled over the sound of the entire wall crashing down and dark thunderbolts flashing form Sukuna’s attack.

“I thought you said this was hard, brother”

Yuuji : *inside his head, already regretting his decision* (oh shit what did i just do, what if he accidentally punch people with this in the class)

Sukuna : yuuji-nii, show me how to use cleave

Ohh im assuming you mean both the original sibling au and the reverse au then? For the original sibling au, yuuji and megumi are the same age (15) while sukuna is 17

In the reverse au, i like to think they have 2 years difference as well, but somehow i always draw yuuji waayy older than sukuna. So maybe like 5-6 years difference?
