what if a tattoo artist and a reference desk librarian fell in love...

reggie: a tattoo artist with a passion for reading dense academic textbooks and their bibliographies and a crush on the reference desk librarian who always seems to be on shift when he goes in

alex: a reference desk librarian with a hobby for gossipping about frequent patrons and a massive crush on his favorite grad student - though for what field he's not yet certain

the plot: reggie is a frequent visitor of alex's library in search of literally just random shit he's interested in learning about. alex is utterly convinced he's a student at the university (don't worry about what the relationship is between the library, the university, and the public) and is determined to figure out what his field of study is without asking, through the power of gossipping about it with his friends

reggie and willie have a tattoo shop together. the tattoo shop is called Sparkwheel's Tattoos and Piercings. it is named after ur nicknames for reggie and willie for each other being sparky and wheels <3 it's also named after the fact that in this fic their last names are both sparkwheel. also they have matching sparkwheels tattooed on their heels <33

the world: what if instead of any one soulmate au, it was all of them? luke lives in a world where your 16th birthday coincides with the reveal of how, exactly, you're going to find your soulmate, as anticlimactic or exciting as it may turn out to be. he was like 100% certain he was gonna get something music-related. instead he got a goose.

luckily, he meets his soulmate pretty soon after that! unluckily, the goose does not go away as planned. weird.

and thus begins the ever-expanding quasi-platonic polycule of luke's soulmates, their soulmates, their friends, and etcetera. he does eventually find a romantic soulmate too. unfortunately by that point he's too used to everyone ending up being platonic soulmates to realize

oh yeah also it's a royalty au bc it was inspired by a round of troped. remember troped? man.

3 the pirate willexie one where i steal a country name from fete for a king even though i'm only on chapter 6

reggie, fleeing a shitty homelife and following in the footsteps of his best friend, fakes his death for the life insurance payout and becomes a thief. an indeterminate amount of time later, he finally returns to his hometown to retrieve what was left to him in the finally-unsealed will of his missing-presumed-dead best friend. unfortunately, he's super recognizable to like, everyone in the house at the time. and robbing it. time to flee! oh no he's been cornered at the docks! time to jump on a boat as it leaves!

willie is the captain of a transgender pirate ship weilding a leverage-ass understanding of what an EMP cannon is or how it functions. his crew includes: - julie, the first mate/medic/musician -flynn, the tech guy/navigator -luke, the munitions guy/musician -bobby, the head cook -nick, who's just kind of there it's a very exciting time when reggie jumps aboard fleeing the cops. willie loves fleeing the cops and he loves cute boys and he loves having an extra hand on the boat so this whole situation is a win-win-win

alex ran away to sea, is now missing presumed dead. sad!

this fic features: transgenderism! flynn and luke being aro besties! my anger at the concept of a child star! small european countries! a lot of research into what the letters before boat names mean!

He absolutely does!! And he definitely tattooed himself.

If it's canon verse then it's probably a faded stick-and-poke he did before he died, only somewhat sanitary but he felt really badass. Also it didn't get infected, you don't have to worry, Alex.

If it's a modern au then Willie either got a somewhat more sanitary stick-and-poke kit, or if they were feeling even more adventurous, a cheap tattoo gun off of Amazon. Willie did one silly little tattoo, Alex confiscated it out of fear that Willie would hurt himself (with Willie's approval, it was probably for the best) (the tattoo looks really good tho)

I'm just not sure what design it would be. I think it depends on the verse, but I definitely wanna say it would be skating related.

BTTMW2 Recap - Day 2:

I'm sorry for all the spelling and grammatical mistakes; I typed this on my tablet so auto-correct keeps "correcting" my words.

JATP ending:

So, in the M&G Kenny made us pinky swear that we won't disclose anything JATP-related we talked about. Nothing has changed, though: The show remains cancelled (no season 2; no movie)

Neither during the M&G nor the panel they talked about a tour.

Kenny is still very angry at Netflix because of it

But he's working on new projects and is very excited about them

During the panel, a fan asked about the ending and Kenny refused to give an official answer. Instead he let Madi, Owen, and Jeremy talk about how they imagined the end:

Madi: No ending

Jeremy: Every Phantom gets the ending that they needed as individuals, not as a band. Maybe one coming back to life while others cross over

Owen (joke answer): Alex and Willie move up and become the main ship. The show gets renamed and focuses on them building a family

Owen (real answer): They move on and meet Julie's mom

JATP in general:

They were asked about with whom (character-wise) they'd like to be friends with: Jeremy with Reggie, Kenny with Willie and Alex.

Favorite quotes/moments:

Owen: When he was breaking character by smiling when they left the HGC and Reggie/Jeremy imitates Caleb

They want to be friends forever. Their friendship is very important for them.

Even though the Orpheum Tour (All the billboards around the globe with "save JATP") didn't get us what we wanted, it left an impact. According to Kenny, many people in the film industry were impressed. And the cast is so grateful about it.

JATP cast fun facts and my unrelated rambling/experience:

Kenny likes Charlie so much because he reminds him of a character he used to play in a musical that set him free and inspired him to become evolve from an actor to a director

Charlie's tattoo "Raison d'être" that he has on his wrist is written in Kenny's handwriting as he inspired it and there's an entire story behind it why this statement is so important to Kenny ... it included raisin bread

Kenny is so inspiring as a person. When he talks about his passion he's just so encouraging. There was so much energy in the room

Charlie liked the wolf on my shirt which is weird cause it was actually a fox.

Mission accomplished: I spoke German to Owen

I wore my "Ghosted" shirt for the Sunset Curve Trio. Jeremy approved. (Btw, I love how this photo turned out.)

Got the "Stand Tall" pose photo. Was great. But I was to short to reach Owen's hand. 🤣

Can't say it enough: They are just incredibly nice and down-to-earth people. All of them -- not just the JATP cast. They really wanted to make you feel comfortable around them.

The autographs for Charlie, Owen, Jeremy, Madi, and Mitchell took so long caused because they really talked to their fans and wanted to know so many things. (Unfortunately, that's also why some people didn't get autographs because they were running out of time.)

Also big shout-out to all the fans who were there. Just as nice as the cast

DreamIt on the other hand: Well, most of the staff tried to be helpful. But the lack of information in English was just not funny. (French people really living up to their reputation, I'm afraid.)

So that's most of the stuff I remember from day 2. Maybe I add some other stuff later as I don't remember much from the closing ceremony. But I recorded it. So can check (and even share it if sb is interested)

WIP ASKS: Wobbly/Ralex tattoo/florist smau because I love smaus and also WOBBLY IS THE BEST SHIPNAME omg

Hehe okay so this is one of 3 smaus I"m working on at the moment, it was my main focus for a bit but I've sort of shifted to another one lately. But in this one, Alex and Reggie are married and run a flower shop together that Rose left them when she passed. Across the street, Willie and Bobby, who are engaged and planning their wedding, run a tattoo parlor together. Alex and Reggie go to them to get matching tattoos for their first wedding anniversary, and while they're there, Willie and Bobby are like "hey we need flowers for our wedding, can we hire you guys?"

And then Dirty Candy, who was supposed to be the wedding band, drops out bc of a big performance opportunity, so Alex and Reggie volunteer JatP. And all the while they four of them are becoming friends while also realizing oh no they are really cute but they are married/engaged what do we do

the answer is fall in love <3

Also featuring Julie and Flynn who are dating and crushing hard on the barista at their favorite coffee shop, who just happens to be Willie's sister Nick (she's trans fem <3) and their qpp Luke who has to do all the flirting for them bc they're too shy to talk to her. Plus! Meddlesome good dad Caleb who is being whatever the father of the groom equivalent of a bridezilla is.

How many works do you have on AO3? 84

What's your total AO3 wordcount? 341,785

What fandoms do you write for? currently (and for the foreseeable future), it's only Julie and the Phantoms (with a very minor guest spot from Red White & Royal Blue). In the past, I've also written for Metal Gear Solid and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries with a few more random ones sprinkled in, but usually just for a single fic or two.

What are your top five fics by kudos? Will You with 409 kudos (one of my earliest jatp fics when the fandom was still hungry) Home is Where My Ghost is 253 kudos (even earlier jatp fic but let's be real, not as good) In Your Starlight 253 kudos as well (the jatp Star Trek au) Silent Souls with 254 kudos (somehow this little Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them soulmate au got really popular) Under My Skin 208 kudos (a silly, fluffy Metal Gear Solid tattoo artist/florist au)

Do you respond to comments? I really want to say "always" but there's a few that I haven't responded to yet. Though mainly because I've been talking with the people on other sites already. But in general, save my few lapses, I do believe that it's only good manners to say 'thank you' if someone takes the time to not only read but also comment what you've written.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Well, the angstiest ending, because very sad and bittersweet, is the one I wrote for Nature 2.0 but which hasn't been published yet but I love a lot. There's two more finished Metal Gear Solid fics with sad endings, Dear Dave and Battlefield, because they're both, strictly speaking, major character death fics. The death just happens to be more or less natural at the end of a (mostly) fulfilled life.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Except for the sadder MGS fics, most of my fics have proper happy endings so I'm not sure. The Star Trek AU has a very hopeful ending that I quite like and I think my current wip, the Alex Adoption Fic, will have a very happy ending, especially considering the beginning.

Do you get hate on fics? I have once received anon hate on a prompt fill gift fic that asked for genderswapped Snake/Otacon because the anon thought I was transphobic. It was honestly very laughable so I didn't take it very seriously. And of course there was the whole blacklist disaster in the jatp fic and me ending up on that list because I'd dared to write jatp smut (once, at that point, very loving, with aged-up characters). But I didn't receive hate on the actual fic, either on AO3 or here.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes, see above ;D I've gotten better at the steaminess, I think, but my characters still talk more than I usually expect them to (though I love it) and they're also very bad at hiding their feelings. I also like to keep it a little down to earth with some awkwardness or clumsiness and lighthearted notes. So no hardcore pwp with only bare resemblances to the actual characters from me. I do believe even the sexiest times need to make sense with the characters ;D

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? The earliest fanfic lil me ever attempted was a massive crossover of Star Trek (TOS and VOY), Stargate, X-Files and Star Wars (and maybe a few other things I can't remember right now) but I never got very far. Incidentally, that's the only fanfic of mine my parents ever read (they were very encouraging ... not sure what they would think of things now XD). But actually published fic? I might forget some earlier things, but I don't think I've ever written a crossover with characters from two distinctly separate fandoms meeting somehow (except co-writing, see answer below). Only ever AUs with maybe a borrowed universe or plotlines.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? not as far as I know. There was somebody who stole a bunch of smut fics for jatp and posted them over on wattpad but mine weren't among them. Still not sure whether to be glad or affronted about that ;P

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have! Silent Souls (Vietnamese translation) ... it's all in the title ;D It got 8 kudos and a bookmark. It doesn't really count but I've also translated rpg-turned-fics written by me and a friend into English and once I get access to those files again (hopefully saved from my old hard drive) I'd like to get back to those and finish the translation. Maybe once I run out of inspiration for jatp if no other fandom has claimed me by then.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Evidently, the answer is sort of. They weren't properly written as fic. But turning an rpg into a fic was also a lot of fun and a nice challenge. Luckily, my writing partner's and my own style meshed well enough so it was easier to put it together. As vans already mentioned, she and I brainstormed a very nice polyphantoms idea that I still quite like but we never got beyond brainstorming. I might ask her if I could tackle the idea again now she's moved on to other fandoms but I'm not sure I could write polyphantoms any more. I also once wrote a self-insert Final Fantasy X/Dark Angels crossover fic with a friend in high school. It was not good but lots of fun.

What's your favorite all-time ship? I'm assuming this is about writing and then the answer is obviously Willex (Alex/Willie from jatp) because I've written so much for them and still have so many ideas. But I also really enjoyed writing for Snake/Otacon from Metal Gear Solid. They're angstier and burdened with more baggage and their canon ending is more bitter than bittersweet but the philosophical soldier/genius nerd combination is a very nice flavour to explore.

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Nature 2.0 probably. It's the only one of those ambitious fics I actually started posting on AO3 and so will forever haunt me there. I'm not saying never but it is very unlikely at the moment.

What are your writing strengths? I think character, dialogues, and scene flow. I'm also a decent editor (for a non-native speaker) so pretty all of my stories should be pretty readable without having to stumble over frequent repetitions or typos or weird tense changes.

What are your writing weaknesses? action scenes and PLOTTING

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Does it count as writing dialogue in another language if I'm writing in English even though I'm not a native speaker? XD As for other other languages. It hasn't come up yet, tbh.

First fandom you wrote for? Aside from the aforementioned massive crossover lil Yeo attempted as a young teen, I think it was the self-insert Final Fantasy X (never published, thankfully) with a friend.

Favorite fic you've written? This is always difficult but also not. I think the one fic I am 100% happy with is Call For a Date, (Don’t) Fall in Love the willex fake boyfriend agency au. That doesn't mean I don't love my other fics though because I generally do.

No excuses writing: the end 👀

Hello there! Since I've already discussed the We Run Together planned ending I guess I will talk about the Ending for Even Though it Hurts (Which I feel like I have talked about before but tumblr search and my memory are both crap so apologies if I am repeating myself)

Once again hiding it below the cut in case anyone does not want to see/read it yet. Also it's quite extensive

no excuses writing asks

First and foremost there are currently three vibe songs I've got playing in my head every time I deal with this story. (Which makes writing it difficult. I'm just going to have to go ahead and fully write out this ending one day so my brain will let me go back and fill in the middle)

Julie POV: Tot Musica as sung by Ado or AmaLee

Party POV 1: Mephisto's Lullaby by Xtortion Audio

Party POV 2: Without You by Ursine Vulpine, Annaca

Second: some establishing lore that has to be set up within the story

It was already alluded to with Luke and will probably be brought up again but if you are not careful when you are using your inclination it can and will drain and kill you.

Flynn relays to group, that her father taught her that everyone has an inclination. Just some are so adept/bizarre/ingrained/small that they do not realize what it is

Julie has a few bounties on her head, it's why she's on the run when she meets Reggie. Eventually it's revealed the bounties are because her inclination happens to be necromancy(she tends to focus on healing, and everyone thought it was a weak inclination because of how much it drained her using it)

One of those bounties was put out by Caleb, who wants the power for himself

(There's also some minor details regarding the soul bond marks on Luke and Bobby. . .the most important thing to know there is in this verse soul bond marks are things you actively choose)

So without giving too much more away of the middle story bits. Caleb gets his hands on Julie and manages to manipulate her to use her power. This sort of backfires on him, because she ends up draining him, and a lot of his people as well.

While that's happening the rest of the party is trying to get to Julie, because it quickly becomes clear (she's extremely emotional and has sort of refused to train up on her inclination) that she's lost control.

They end up being too late.

But don't worry, I'm pulling a reverse Uno card on the JatP finale. So instead of Julie thinking she's lost the guys and bringing them back with the united power of love, it's the guys(and Flynn, Bobby, and Willie) thinking they've lost Julie and bringing her back.

They pull an inadvertent D&D divine intervention and sort of summon Rose who helps bring Julie back. Julie and Rose get to have a second goodbye. And then everyone discovers they've all got new matching golden soul bond marks. (Really by this point they've all got varying levels of tattoo sleeves because soul bond marks can be both weirder and simpler than they'd all been taught)

Ohhhh the HGC... here we go...

Also, Nick has now seen the 'projector' and turned it on and off. There's no way he isn't gonna have some questions as soon has he thinks about it. There's no way that light is gonna produce holograms on any kind of level like what happens when she performs with the guys. That guy is gonna question that...

The new guy found someone!!!

I feel like every time I watch this first HGC episode, I have more questions about Willie and his background there. Cause like... he genuinely enjoys the show. He has fun jumping in and dancing. He tells the guys they should come back for movie nights. But also... he knows about the stamp, he's clearly seen it in action before. He knows Caleb is dangerous, but he doesn't think he's a danger to Alex and the other guys, despite them having ghostly abilities that he's never seen before. I just... I have so many questions...

YO do the rhinestones on the lining of Caleb's jacket match the ribbons Julie wears in her hair a couple times?!!!

Yup boys suck. Flynn, you are a great bestie and I love you.

Hey everyone! Literally none of you know me, so I figured I'd give some little facts about me :)

I'm 20 (21 in November baby)

I literally have a big girl legal job but I'm still writing fanfic like I did for 1D in 2013 (If I feel kind I'll share the 11 year old me wattpad links)

Oooo JatP headcanons??? Also know I am laying on your floor on a fluffy rug and staring at you upside down while asking this. And also I have befriended your cat!

JatP headcanons!! I haven’t laid these out super well, and I stole a few of them, but here we go.

• Julie is a cat person. So is Luke. When they get an apartment together they adopt a cat.

• Reggie is obsessed with eyeliner, as shown in that one post we all saw about Reggie using up Julie’s eyeliner (where I also added some suggestions but that’s not the important part)

• Reggie is ace. Not sure if this was decided by the entire fandom or just me.

• Carlos and Willie pull the worst pranks on Alex. The worst.

• If Julie got married she would make sure she was surrounded by flowers and the people she loves. I had a drabble I wrote about jukebox getting married on a lily pond, but I lost it to docs. I may have accidentally deleted it.

• Ray met Rose at a coffee house similar to Eats & Beats, after the Petal Pushers had been performing a set. Ray had been the coffeehouse’s set videographer and also the bartender, and he and Rose bonded over music and mochas. • Trevor is so very gay.

• Butterflies and Dahlias are recurring themes and therefore signify important events in Julie’s life and so right after getting back from her first ever big time tour she gets a tattoo of a butterfly resting at the centre of a dahlia, around which is ‘you can do it, Julie’ in Rose’s handwriting. And then when she adopts aforementioned cat, she gets their collar engraved with a dahlia. And when she moves into the apartment with Luke, they hang a larger-than-life piece of watercolor art of a dahlia on their wall. To remind her of Rose, and that every day, she helps Rose’s legacy live on.

• Julie’s background is a picture Reggie took of Jukebox sleeping on the studio couch together. (Yes, it’s a To All The Boys reference, leave me alone)

• Nick and Reggie if we’re in canon, Boggie and Nick is aroace if this is an everyone-is-alive-at-the-same-time-and-is-like-16-or-17 AU.

• Julie’s hair smells like raspberries and roses

• Luke had a cat as a child that was a very sleepy small grey cat, and when he left home, that was one of the things he was most sad to leave. When he regains life 26 years later, the cat is miraculously still living with Emily and Mitch (the cat has ghost powers but no one knows this and non one ever figures it out) and runs to Julie’s house about six hours (it was napping) after Julie gifts life to the boys, reuniting with Luke.

• Mitch and Emily live about a block and a half from the Molinas. Nothing bad happened to the cat

So those are the headcanons I can remember right now!! I have more but those are the major ones.

We are having a sleepover and my cat is cuddling your side while your stare at me upside down on the fluffy rug whilst listening to me talk about headcanons. She is attempting to knead your side.
