Imagine your OTP where Person A works in retail and Person B keeps coming into the shop and asks for help with the most ridiculous things. + if Person A loses it one day and confronts Person B about their motive feels like Willex to me, please and thank you.
Willie pressed himself up on his toes and down again, as if that would relieve the pressure of his uncomfortable dress shoes. He wished he could just wear his beat up kicks, but that wouldn't mesh well with the image Caleb wanted to convey with his store.
And since Willie worked there as a way to earn a bit of cash and avoid having to work at the club, he had to deal with the shoes. At least he didn't have to cut his hair and got to choose his shirt and tie.
The other bonus was that he had direct view of the nerd store across the hall in the mall where his jib at the suit store was.
Now Willie did appreciate the odd nerdy thing, but his main focus in that store was just under six foot, had golden blond hair, and an affinity for pink.
Willie had tried every way to talk to Alex in hopes that he would manifest the courage to ask him out.
The first time he had just gone over to introduce himself, welcome them to the mall, and ask if they wanted to hear the gossip about the other stores there. The next time was to ask if he could use their microwave in return for letting them use the private bathroom attached to his work.
But those interactions would only get him so far.
The next time he went over, holding up two ties, and asked Aled which one he should wear. Totally noticing on how his eyes were glued to the line of his throat and top of his chest exposed where he hadn't buttoned up his shirt. Points for him, and he loved how Alex stuttered through choosing the goldenrod coloured tie.
The next time he went over asking Alex for a good started Pokemon since he had just started playing the game. Unfortunately, Alex directed him towards Reggie for that since he was hopeless at video games, and Reggie could talk your ear off about anything. But it did get Willie interested in catching a Bidoof, if only because the name made him giggle.
After that it was a game of finding out exactly what Alex's area of interest and nerdiness lay. So every time they were working the same shift, Willie would come over and ask about something different.
"What class would you recommend for a beginning D&D player?"
"What's the conversion rate of sheep to wood in Catan?"
"What's the best version of Monopoly?"
"Do you guys have any idea how Magic the Gathering works?"
On and on, but every time, Alex would direct him to one of the other guys working though he did always smile and blush whenever he looked at Willie-and usually convinced him to add to his sock collection at least once a week, all while throwing his own employee discount on it for him.
Then one day, Willie moseyed into the store on his break, veering right towards Alex. "So did you get a cavalcade of Funko pops based on the new anime adaptation yet?"
Alex whirled around, glaring at him. "What is your deal?"
"What?"
"Every day, or almost, you come in here, and it's always something inane or weird or I dunno... do you get some sick joy of making fun of the nerds or something?" Alex exploded.
"No!" Willie exclaimed. "I'm a nerd! Or well, kind of one, given the love of cartoons from my childhood and obsessive sock buying."
"Then why do you keep coming over here and asking me about all this other stuff?" alex asked, shoulders still stiff as he looked at Willie.
"Because I like you dummy!" Willie said with a laugh. "I've been looking for any excuse to come talk to you in hopes you might engage in conversation with me and then maybe we could go out sometime."
"Oh... oh!" Alex replied. "I like you too!"
"Then how about we get an Orange Julius and you can tell what nerdy stuff you are into?" Willie asked, offering his arm.
"Through in a soft pretzel and it's a date," Alex replied, looping their arms together.
It turned out that Alex wasn't much of a nerd, but Reggie needed staff, Alex needed money, and he did like dancing games and Trivial Pursuit.
"Sounds like a fun idea for our next date," Willie said with a grin.
"Only if you're in the mood to get your butt whipped," Alex teased back.
"Oh it's like that is it?" Willie stated. "Challenge accepted."
Alex beamed, but then looked at his watch and scowled. "My break is almost up."
"Well then let me bring you back and on the way I can catch you up on the latest happenings with th jewellery store guys."
"Man, fuck those guys," Alex said as they walked back hand in hand to their hallway.
"I know right?"
From then on, Willie didn't have to find excuses to come talk to Alex any more. But he did come by with gossip, kisses, and a choice of tie. Because there was nothing better than making his boyfriend blush-even more than a discount on funky socks.

I know this is so late, but I had a lot going on so I just wasn't able to finish this until now. Also this is not the drag fic I teased (I wish it was, trust me) but that somehow turned into an absolute monster of a fic with so much research that I had to pivot before you would have received your gift in November. So I wrote this instead!!
I hope you enjoy it!
Willex. 9.1k word. Rated T (warning for alcohol mention).
“Hi, welcome,” someone says next to him and Alex startles so much he steps to the side. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” the guy says apologetically, an easy smile on his face. Alex swallows and whatever he wanted to say doesn’t get out.
They guy’s wearing all black, a matching black apron around his waist, which made him kind of blend into the dark decor of the room. When Alex’s eyes travel upwards, he quickly finds that this employee is no less beautiful than anyone else in the store—warm, brown skin, high cheekbones, long, dark hair pulled back, and a friendly tilt of his head—and Alex decides he should not be looking at him like that for this long. Instead he focuses on the Lush lanyard around his neck, a trans pride button and a he/they pronouns button pinned just above their heart.
“Anything I can help you find?” the employee asks.
“Uh,” Alex responds dumbly. “Not really?” He doesn’t even know what he’s looking for. “I think I’ll take a moment…” to look around the store and also re-find my heartbeat, thank you very much. Alex has never been calm when faced with cute people.

having a secret signal for parties that means “Let’s go home now” sounds like and Alex thing to have
"Can we go now?" Alex asked Willie after a tour of the room.
"We literally just got here hot dog," Willie teased. "I know my dad's snooty friends aren't the most fun, but we did promise to come, so we gotta tough it out."
Alex groaned, but nodded into Willie's shoulder. Caleb had asked them to come to his party, meet some of the donors to the club, hopefully drum up some donations or repeat business. And given the man had been so accepting of their relationship-a far cry from Alex's own parents-well Alex felt like they owed him one uncomfortable night.
Alex just... wasn't a fan of social situations. Sure his anxiety meds were helping, but he was still uncomfortable playing nice with all these grand people for the sake of something he didn't really care about.
It reminded him too much of being trotted out for every cotillion and coming out party at his parents country club. Having to escourt young ladies through the crowds or a dance in hopes that this one would turn him straight, so the Mercers could climb the social ladder through their son's relationship.
Of course, that didn't work, so Alex was as gay as ever, with a great distaste for parties and all the falseness that came with them. At least here he didn't have to play it straight, but he still wasn't himself.
He clung to Willie as much as he could, but occasionally there was someone that Willie just had to meet and Alex got left nibbling on tiny quiches or drinking sparkling juice (since all the servers knew not to give him alcohol) and praying everyone would leave him alone.
But of course the old ladies always found him. The ones who wanted to know if he was related to the Newport Mercers or if they had met their charming son/nephew/ward, as if they could steal; him away from Willie.
Alex was always polite-a strained smile and excuses to get him out, but some of them didn't let him be, and he found himself cornered more often than not.
That's why they had the signal-he would look right at Willie, push back his hair and tuck it behind his ear-a totally normal gesture, but Willie knew it meant he was in need of rescue and quite possible evacuation.
"Hey Mrs. Abernathy," Willie said after Alex signalled him, a comforting hand on the blond's back. "I need to steal my boyfriend away, Dad needs us you know?"
"Well don't let me keep Caleb waiting," she said, shooing them off.
They got to the balcony, Alex gulping in lungfuls of cool night air, slumping down to sit against the wall. "Can we please go now?"
Willie looked in the room, catching Caleb's eye. He waved him off with a soft smile and Willie sighed with relief. "We've been released. But we do have to go back in there to get out. You ready?"
Alex sucked in a breath, nodding as he got back up. "Once more into the breach."
"You wanna watch Fellowship when we get home?" WIllie asked as they opened the door into the room once more.
"Only if we can watch the Director's Cut," Alex replied.
"No commentary though," Willie bargained.
"Fiiiiine," Alex sighed.
"You think we can swing by the kitchens to grab some snacks on the way out?" Willie pondered as they maneuvered through the crowd.
"We have snacks at home," Alex replied.
"Not mini quiches and bacon wrapped everything," Willie reasoned.
Alex stopped at that and they detoured to the kitchen where the chef was happy to load them down with containers of canapes, and with a wink, a bottle of the good bubbly that Willie slipped him a generous tip for.
"Let's blow this popsicle stand," Alex said as they exited through the staff door.
"At least we're out of the next few parties since they're during the tour," Willie reasoned.
"Thank goodness," Alex moaned. "It'll be a blessed relief even if we'll be stuck on a cramped smelly bus with our friends and no privacy."
"Don't think the signal will work there," Willie chuckled.
"We'll come up with a new one so we can escape to our bunk," Alex reasoned.
"Sounds good hot dog, sounds good."

Fundraiser for a friend of a friend in Rafah, Gaza
Hello hello, my roommate shared this fundraiser by an old school friend of hers. I'll let him tell you about it:
Tumblr media
Hello, my name is Yousef Keshta, I’m 26 years old, living in Rafah and I asked my Cousin in Germany to initiate a fundraiser to rescue my family.
Amidst the current conflict, over 30,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, and I have tragically lost dozens of relatives and friends, with many still unaccounted for. Our home has also been severely damaged and we’re living through the nights of coldness and darkness. The picture that you see is in front of our house.
This fundraiser is our last hope to secure the safe passage for me and my four younger siblings. They still have their whole future ahead, they want to go back to school and university and continue to strive for their dreams.
After enduring 135 days of relentless war, we are grappling with severe psychological trauma and various illnesses.
My siblings and I have been profoundly impacted by the siege on Gaza, and we desperately need assistance to rebuild our shattered lives. I humbly appeal to your generosity to help us break free from the cycle of war and despair.
All funds collected through this campaign will be utilized to cover the necessary fees for crossing the border into Egypt (6000$ per person).
Thank you everyone!
If you have the means, please donate, if not, please consider sharing - distributing the link, reblogging this, telling your friends, anything will help.
Thank you! Free Palestine 🍉

if this doesn't scream boggie, i don't know what does: They smell like sparkles and sunshine and I want to kiss their stupid face so bad
Bobby slammed the apartment door behind him, heading straight for the couch. He didn't slow down until he was flat on his stomach, his burning cheeks hidden by a Gayosaurus throw pillow ("Like a normal gay, but more awesome!") that Willie had found somewhere six months ago. Bobby wasn't ever sure where he found this sort of thing. He'd given up on asking when they were still in college, the two of them and Alex randomly paired up in a freshman dorm.
"What happened here?" the previously mentioned pillow finder said from somewhere above Bobby.
The soft click of Alex closing their front door properly was followed by the drummer's sigh of, "Reggie, what else."
Bobby felt the couch dip near his feet as probably Willie sat down. "You wanna talk about it, dude?" they asked. Bobby couldn't decide if their tone was sympathetic or teasing.
"No," he mumbled into the pillow.
Look, dating your bandmates didn't work out well. Reggie and Luke had been together for a bit when they were all in college and it had burned hot and fast. Bobby had been sure the band would break up for good when they called it quits. It had taken a whole new person, Luke's now queerplatonic partner and their band frontwoman Julie, to get the two of them to talk it out and become friends again. Even then, it had been a rough couple of months for all of them.
So, no matter how pretty Reggie was or how sometimes Bobby thought he leaned a bit closer to their shared mic than necessary, they couldn't be a thing. It wouldn't work.
"Dude, you can't just keep ignoring it and hope it goes away," Alex sighed, now sounding much closer. "Remember how I tried that and it failed? Epicly?"
Bobby lifted his head just enough to shoot Alex a glare. "That's not the same thing," he protested. "No offense, Willie."
"None taken," they chuckled. "But Lex has a point. Shoving it down doesn't work, and it might just turn out better than you think."
Bobby dropped his face back down to the pillow and flipped them both off. "No."
He felt a foot nudging his shoulder, indicating that Alex had found his perch on the back of the couch above him. "Bobby, Reggie likes you back, you guys just have to get your acts together and talk about it."
"Hypocrite," Bobby mumbled. But he groaned and rolled onto his side, glancing up at his roommates and best friends. Maybe talking it out would help erase his stupid crush on his bandmate. "I know he maybe thinks I'm cute or whatever, but it wouldn't work. The band almost broke up when Luke and Reggie did, and I can't be responsible for doing that to you guys. I just can't."
"Okay, I get that," Alex began. "But what makes you so sure the two of you wouldn't work? I mean yeah, Luke and him didn't go so well, but there were a lot of reasons for that."
"Very much including the fact that they were 19 and neither of them had actually been in a serious relationship before," Willie added. "And I love them both, but their communication skills aren't the best now, let alone two years ago."
"You and Reg are good for each other," Alex continued, giving Bobby that heavy, open stare that he usually masked behind several layers of sarcasm. "He gets you out of your routine and trying new things. You help him slow down and talk things out."
"You're both better people for being around each other," Willie agreed, one hand resting on Bobby's ankle. Then the corner of his mouth quirks up. "Not to mention the fact that you guys practically make out at the mic every other song."
"We do not!" Bobby insisted, forcing himself up on one elbow. "Mic sharing is totally normal."
"Mic sharing, yes. But you two take the phrase 'eat the mic' a little too literally," Alex laughed. Then his amusement faded. "But seriously. You like him. He likes you. And we're all semi-functioning adults who can at least pretend to be emotionally mature. At least talk to him."
"Even if you decide not to give it a shot, at least you'll have been honest with each other," Willie said.
"But what if it messes everything up?" Bobby asked, hating how small his voice sounded. "I mean, yeah, he smells like sparkles and sunshine and I wanna kiss his stupid face so bad, but I don't want it to destroy the band. Or our whole... family."
Willie's expression is now solidly in the sympathetic zone. "But what if it makes it better?" they countered. "I mean, Lex and I were great as friends, and we're better as partners, and we're both better friends to the rest of you because of being together."
The smile Alex gave them for that is enough to make Bobby fake gag and throw the Gayosaurus pillow at them. But... maybe they're right.
"Hug time?" Alex questioned.
Bobby just nodded, suddenly feeling heavy at the possibility of having Reggie as something other than a bandmate. But heavy in a good way, like crawling under his weighted blanket at the end of a long day.
Alex dropped down onto the couch beside him, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and pulling him in. Bobby let Willie resituate both of their legs on his lap. He usually wasn't one for being manhandled by his friends, but it was nice to let them take care of him every once in a while. He tried to focus on the clean and salty scent of Alex's hoodie and the easy movement of Willie's thumb on his ankle.
Maybe, just maybe, they had a point. At the very least, he owed it to Reggie to let him be a part of the conversation, right? Bobby let out a soft sigh. This meant he'd have to actually have a conversation about it with the bassist. But he was getting better at those at least. It was 'healthy' or something. Maybe it would be okay. Maybe they would be okay.
"So..." Willie mused after a while, "what do sparkles and sunshine smell like?"
"Screw you," Bobby groaned, hiding his face in Alex's chest.

JatP Feb Fan Fest 2024 Gift exchange!
So happy to share my gift to my giftee @michelangelinden! You can check it out on AO3:
Summary:
The sound of dribbling filled the gym. The rubber ball bounced frantically on the floor, making a hollow sound each time it was passed from player to player. Five of each team hurried after the ball, eager to throw it into the basket at the next opportunity. They called and shouted their names when they passed the ball to each other and yelled as soon as they lost it again. It was certainly an exciting game, as some spectators regularly like to join and sit in the stands to watch and cheer them on. But not everyone came for the game. Alex was secretly after something else.
Happy reading and hope you like it! Also much love to @jatpfebfanfest for initiating this event and all the efforts! <3

i just had a mental image of Alex lamenting over his prefrontal cortex never fully developing because he'll be 17 forever and OMG DO WE EVEN HAVE BRAINS AT ALL?!
AND are you telling me that THIS is the level of impulse control we'll have for all of eternity?!
I ALREADY HAVE TO DO IT FOR ALL OF US AND I am NOT very good at it as it is!
And not only do I have to deal with my own failures of impulse control, I have to deal with THEIRS TOO?!
Who did I anger and why did they curse me?!
*cue spiral and existential dread*
