Fandoms & Ships
I am a true nerd, and as such, continously seek out new media and their fandoms, and become involved with them, while also cyclically coming back to the ones I already love. I am a romantic, and I love see love in general (all types of love, not just romantic!), so I am also a very big shipper!
I don't always have a set ship(s) for every fandom I find myself in, nor do I think it necessary to try and "prove" that mine are better than other ships. I like what I like, and I like seeing what others like as well. So I might have OTPs, but I also like engaging with content for all kinds of ships, even true rarepairs.
I also don't think it necessary for a fandom to have ships, so just because I have a listed ship that I like/love, doesn't mean I can't have neutral/objective thoughts and opinions about that particular piece of media.
That being said, here's a list of fandoms I come back to, or keep up with, and a list of ships I have a preference for. OTPs are bolded! Oh, and media (as in the series, books, shows, etc.) are rated according to my opinion!

List of Idols and Actors I know or follow
🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥◼🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥
Disclaimer
I strongly urge you to take all the tarot readings on this account lightly. All the posts are intended to have an entertaining nature, they are pure speculations and completely made up by me. I can never ever guarantee any of it and you should never take any of the tarot readings for granted. I would like to stress that I know no idol nor actor personally, I never met any of them and all those readings are fictional, imagins, make believe and hypothetical scenarios. Do not base any of your life decisions on a tarot reading only, always use your common sense. If you have issues with tarot cards for religious or other reasons, do not engage in reading my posts.
When you make a request take my life into consideration and be patient. I’m a responsible adult with a full time job, dog, family, friends, duties, house chores and requests from other sources. All these take my time. Also reading tarot cards requires a certain mood, vibe and concentration, it can’t be done just anytime. Count on the time delays, please. I will do my best to complete your requests.
I’m always willing to help out if you yourself consider taking on tarot cards as a hobby. Feel free to ask if you have any inquiries about it, no question is dumb. I don’t know everything but will try to help the best I can.

Monster March 2023 Day 1- Elemental
Tumblr media
Woo, ok. So I'm gonna try to do every prompt. The first 9 will be on time. The rest? I'm gonna try but they'll be late. I've only been working on these since January. But some are multiple parts, some are one shots. And this one is a one shot. And I'll also be posting this to AO3 as well because @borealwrites has a Monster March 2023 collection on there too.
I'm following @borealwrites Monster March 2023 prompt list. And of course, I can't leave out @catbatart who also has a Monster March, who I followed thier promptlist last year since thier promptlist is timeless and not year specific. Same stuff, just different order basically.
Enjoy!
Monster March Day 1 - Elemental
The Emperor’s Gemling
“She is something truly precious, Your Majesty.” Imperial Concubine Ling insisted as she showed the Emperor the large jade box in her special sanctuary in her palace.
“Where did she come from?” He asked.
“As you have heard, when Emperor Qin Shi Huang was buried, his most beloved concubines were buried with him. And it was the gemlings that helped them escape on the other side of the mountain. This gemling is a direct descendant of those gemlings that helped them escape. Each of the gemlings that have been coaxed out of the great tomb, prefer to live in a house of jade. That they make themselves. And all you need to do- is feed them and they give back the most amazing treasures. See for yourself.” She offered before she poured in a bowl- pure mercury and with tongs, put a cake of sulfur on top of the jade bowl and knocked on the sliding “door” before it slid open.
“Greetings Great Gemling Yuan Shi. I have mercury and sulfur for you.” She offered as she knelt and slid the pretty jade bowl with the pure sulfur cake laid on top like it was a piece of bread to go with soup into the chamber before the Emperor heard a soft crunching and then a slurping sound, like that the occupant was slurping the mercury like a soup and eating the sulfur cake as if it was an actual piece of cake.
“And what would you like in return?” Came her reply after a few sips and bites.
“I have The Emperor with me, he would like to see you.” She offered.
“Why?” The gemling asked cautiously.
“He is simply curious, my friend. It is safe for you to exit, I promise. Surely you can feel only my servants around you and you trust all of them to not harm you, yes?” She answered.
“Very well.” Came the gemling’s reply before a door, that had not been there before opened up and the Emperor stared, awestruck, by the beauty that came out. Her skin was that of a pearly white jade. Her eyes, like intense green jade. Her hair like onyx. And wearing a gown of blood red jasper. She was more or less a human sized female, save for her elemental features. Her hair was styled like many of his other concubines, same hair accessories. And an illustrious gold filigree was in all around the edges of her garment and in her ears like earrings. Like a walking, living, breathing treasure. Dressed in exquisite splendor and looking like a goddess stepping out of heaven itself.
He had heard that the Imperium had had a string of gemlings, that stayed with the palace through the different dynasties. But the reason he made this concubine, his imperial concubine was because she, was a direct descendant of one of those freed concubines and her family had a multi generational long relationship with the gemlings that were in the mountain that the first emperor made into his own mausoleum.
And over the generations, the gemlings had learned their language and culture and adopted much of it into their own society. But the Emperor also knew should any force be risen against them, the very ground they walked on would swallow them up and crush them and the Golden Imperial City and every city from all over his kingdom could be turned to rubble because gemlings had control of the earth and it’s many minerals and were made out of organic precious stones that acted like flesh for them. So there was a very healthy respect between the people and the gemlings. An alter was built for them after they rescued those concubines and things like sulfur, mercury, and other elements, were presented, the more toxic and dangerous the better. But when they started to leave things like metal, either bronze, tin, iron, steel, silver and gold, that’s when the gemlings would trade truly priceless treasures for because metals were a food source just like the toxic and dangerous elements were.
So the Emperor came, with a very special offering as he presented her with an ingot of alloy. It had just about every metal in it. And she smiled widely, showing off her pretty pearl white teeth before she bowed, as was customary in the palace, gave her thanks and took it from him and bit into it as if it was a soft steamed bun. And the sound of her chewing the metal was like a carpet over gravel before walking on it.
“Please, won’t you sit down?” He offered as he gestured to the seat for her to sit before she stepped up into the seat where the Emperor and the Lady of the House would sit while he would visit them.
“So, what gift would you like, Your Majesty?” She asked him as she looked at the pretty ingot in her hand over to him. Because she had much experience with various rulers in the dynasties and usually the more precious the metals offered, the more “elaborate” the gift they wanted in return because to surface dwellers, very few things were really “free”.
“Nothing, I just wanted to enjoy your presence.” He shook his head no as he couldn’t take his eyes off of her, even if he tried before she hummed and nodded before she continued to casually eat the ingot of metal as the servants served the Emperor and Imperial Concubine Ling other snacks themselves.
“You are very beautiful Great Yuan Shi.” He praised.
“Thank you, the gemlings who enjoy the Imperium have noticed that if we look more like the surface dwellers, the less unsettled they are when in our presence.” She explained.
“You have succeeded. You look positively ethereal.” He praised.
“Thank you.” She thanked him as she finished off the last bite of the ingot as she gave Ling a curious look to see if she could give her any indication as to why a request of her had not been made yet.
“I understand you like pearls.” The Emperor suddenly offered.
“Yes, I do. Any treasures from the sea are always prized to a gembling.” Yuan answered before the Emperor made a motion before a servant came and presented her with a mother of pearl box, filled with large pearls.
“These are quite precious.” Yuan noted as she took it and appreciated the inlay into the otherwise gorgeous wooden box that was lined with velvet that had all of the pearls in it before she picked up one up looked it over thoughtfully.
“Is there anything else you like? Or that you need?” The Emperor asked.
“No. Imperial Concubine Ling sees to it that I am bathed, polished, fed, and cared for very well and socialized with the other gemlings here at the palace. However, with you giving me so much, I am now starting to worry that what you are about to ask of me will be very large and very intricate indeed to accompany such a luxurious meal and gifts.” She offered.
“I assure you, no such requests or demands will be made. I was simply curious to meet you. Many of the gemlings won’t even exit their homes of jade.” He admitted.
“So, all of this was to simply…truly just be in my presence?” She asked, a sense of weariness still in her pleasant tone and features.
“Yes.” He confirmed before she looked to Ling curiously to either confirm or deny such a claim but all Ling kept her self silent by eating some of the sweet mochi cakes prepared for them before Yuan looked back at the Emperor to see him just staring intently at every detail about herself before she turned to face him more directly before she reached out her hand to him before he laid his hand into hers before he other hand to come up and rest over his as she stared back into him.
“You’re Majesty. Please, I can sense something is wrong, what is wrong?” She asked.
“I am worried that something is wrong with all of the gemlings.” He finally confessed.
“Why would you think that? Has anyone said anything to their caretakers that the care they are receiving is not what they need?” She asked.
“No, but…it’s been over a century, yet the same 12 gemlings have not had any children, none of you have grown, none of you have changed much at all in the last 100 years.” He admitted.
“Ah, so you are fearing we are getting old, worn out or aren’t able to reproduce?” She surmised.
“Yes.” He admitted before it was her turn to smile reassuringly at his as she pet his hand as he was awestruck that something so soft could still be warm yet slightly soft in it’s hardness, like heated massage stones.
“Please rest assured Emperor, we are all happy, healthy and not that old. We are old enough to be mature, knowledgeable, educated and talented to work with the twelve treasures of heaven beside corals and pearls, which come from the sea. We rotate who makes what every decade so that none of us grows bored or “burned out” so to speak or too tired of dealing with only one precious or even semi-precious stone. But we have not reproduced because we are working. In order for a gemling to reproduce to make another, they need to eat the way we usually eat, but not work at all, since all the work their body does is all internal instead of external. And the needs of your court and your dynasty are simply too extensive and demanding for any of us to have children of our own. Right now we have the perfect balance and will be ready to be changed out with others in our tribe in another 98 years. Since most gemlings only stay in service to the Empire for 200 years before we go back to train the others for service while the last batch that are still learning to be gemlings for you- are being trained. Besides, gemling infants and children are very intensive as far as caring for them, and usually the entire tribe will come together to raise a group of only a few younglings, so that they have peers, and playmates, and to a degree- siblings. But they can often do more damage than good. Especially in such a grand and beautiful palace as this. The younglings are at the mercy of their own emotions, wills and often naturally impetuous and immature personalities, like all younglings of all kinds usually are. I would hate for any precious palace to be destroyed just because a gemling child did not wish to lie down and rest for the day. And while they are small, they are much stronger than most would think. And only with age and experience do they gain control of themselves, and then they learn to control the elements around them. Surface dwellers count their life times in days, weeks, months, years and decades. Gemlings count our lifetimes in centuries. So think of the gemlings that are serving you now, as young women, whose bodies are good for work, but are not yet mature enough to mother children. But, the best mothers in our tribe, have come from my foremothers from your Great and Grand Imperial Palace. Because the patience needed to master the 12 treasures and every other element in the world takes much time, much instruction and much patience. Time that you, and your Empire simply don’t have to give. For a dynasty may last many generations of your kind. But such a time may only be long enough for a babe of ours to reach childhood. Time passes differently for both of our kinds. But the time we share together to enrich each other- I’m happy we have the time together that we do.” Yuan reassured the Emperor as she continued to simply hold his hand with one of hers and pet his hand and arm with the other.
“Oh.” He blew out a breath of relief.
“Is there anything else bothering you? Do you need another set of massage stones your Majesty?” She offered.
“The last ones that were made are still perfect and wonderful.” He reassured her.
“Good. And I can see that every concubine does love the jade rollers that they use on their faces.” She smiled.
“Yes, those are still ever so wonderful.” Ling offered.
“Good.” Yuan smiled happily.
“Your Majesty, if you were worried about such things, why didn’t you ask our caretakers? They would have asked us, and our answer would have been the same. You didn’t need to trouble yourself. Especially if you have other important state matters to attend to.” Yuan asked the Emperor as she tilted her head slightly.
“I wanted to hear it directly from you, since you were willing to leave and see me face to face.” He admitted as he was happy to hold her one hand in both of his before he stroked her knuckles with the pads of his own fingers, still appreciating the exquisite softness of the surface of her skin.
“Well please be reassured, we are all healthy and happy and more than willing to create what we can for our hosts and caretakers. Especially when we are cared for- so well.” She reassured him.
“And if we ever want or need anything, we will ask. We have learned your language so that we may speak and communicate it clearly. And while your language changes a little over time. We are still understanding each other well- are we not?” She proposed.
“We are.” He smiled and nodded.
“Is the quality of our work no longer good enough?” She asked, her tone slightly concerned.
“No, as always, it is your own work and the work of all the other gemlings that is always perfect and flawless in all respects. It is always exquisite. To the point, it is often wondered if it isn’t real or a fake. And our artisans are always eager to try to learn all they can from you and your techniques in working with the gemstones.” He reassured her.
“Well, we do love working with the artisans. They are just as passionate about their work as we are. And they inspire us as much as we inspire them most of the time.” She smiled.
“Yes, I have more jade sculptures than I know what to do with.” He huffed a laugh.
“Is there another substance that you would prefer for them to be made out of?” She asked.
“No, the jade is always precious. And your work with it is especially exquisite, it was not a complaint against you or the jade itself. I have an almost embarrassment of riches here at the Palace.” He corrected himself.
“Does it tire your eyes? It is nearly in every direction you look within your palace. There is jade everywhere here.” She noted.
“No. It’s fine.” He reassured her.
“Yet you stare at the red of my gown?” She gently teased before she leaned on her elbow onto the table and the emperor dropped his mochi from his mouth to see more of her body’s shape through the “fabric” that he could have sworn was stone of her “clothes”.
“It is a very pretty color and very striking.” Concubine Ling offered while the Emperor subconsciously licked his lips as his mouth was suddenly dry before he reached for his tea to drink it up as his heart started to flutter in his chest.
“Imperial Consort Ling, I feel I should return to my chamber, I’ve already breathed up all the bad air in this palace that I can. And I do not wish to be light headed and lose consciousness, especially in front of his Majesty. If you’ll please excuse me Your Majesty.” She offered before she stood, with her box of pearls and stood to bow respectfully and then took the few steps back to her jade “house” and the door once again vanished into the rest of the jade as if wasn’t there to begin with as the Emperor’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment, because he felt that perhaps it was his leering that caused her to become uncomfortable and withdraw.
“Now you see why they don’t often leave the jade houses, because they do have an affect on others.” Imperial Consort Ling offered in a small murmur to the Emperor.
“Please give her my apologies, if I offended her or caused her any discomfort that she needed to retreat.” The Emperor offered as he stood.
“I sincerely doubt you did, Your Majesty. It’s just that gemlings’ lungs are used to either toxic fumes and gasses. And they can only breathe the outside air for a short amount of time. Like anyone trying to climb a mountain, where the air is too thin and their heads hurt because the air isn’t as rich as they are used to at sea level.” She readily excused.
“Oh.” He realized.
“Have…have gemlings and surface dwellers…ever…?” He began to ask.
“While they don’t necessarily marry, there have been rumors in the past of some emperors mating with them, but only if they are interested and want to partake. Otherwise, if one forces themselves, they court death.” Concubine Ling hinted.
“How?” He asked.
“They make metal out of one’s own blood and send spikes made from such blood all over the body. As if being stabbed through millions of needles all over all at once.” She revealed.
“But you are always welcome to ask, if she says no, simply leave it at that, if she says yes, then you’ll get the chance of a lifetime to lay with one. No child can come from the union, but certainly a night of pleasure could be had.” She offered.
“Ah. Thank you.” He smiled as he nodded in understanding.
“Word of advice. Do so in your own imperial bathhouse. Have water pumped directly from the hot springs. They love the sulfur smell of the water and will often soak the sulfur up, leaving pure simple, hot water in the process.” She whispered.
“Thank you for your direction and instruction.” He grinned before he left to make some preparations before Ling came over to the wall of the jade box and with her finger, traced the words
‘Did you hear that?’ She wrote before her answer appeared on the surface of the jade as if it was instantly carved in the surface with a simple ‘yes’.
‘Would you consider laying with the Emperor?’ She asked.
‘I would. Especially in the water of a sulfur spring.’ She wrote back as Yuan stood on the other side and smiled happily at the prospect. Because gemlings and land dwellers could still give and receive “carnal pleasures” with each other.
Imperial Concubine Ling practically ran after the Emperor to tell him the good news and what Yuan’s “conditions” to indulge him were just as he had reached her outer gate.
“Thank you. I will call for her when I am ready to receive her.” He thanked her.
Within the week, he had all the groundwork done. His bath had been emptied out and fresh water straight from the hotspring had been pumped into the water so that the scent of sulfur “polluted” the scent of his palace. But he didn’t care. He was going to partake in a secret tradition, laying with a gemling, something that had not been done in over 50 years, well before his birth. But it was something, that once he found the secret compartment that every other emperor in the dynasty left behind, said that such a thing was like touching heaven itself. That the pleasure coming from laying with a gemling was some of the greatest in his life and that nothing else quite compared.
It seemed Yuan knew it was time, because suddenly the jade house she lived in seemed to rise right out of the ground in his palace. She wore a “gown” of delicate diamonds and pearls over her frame to conceal her true body’s form and shape from the others. Her hair hung like it’s own waterfall of black silk down her back and with every breath she took the sulfur scent lessoned in the air before she walked into the deep pool and disappeared under the waters, only reappearing several long moments later.
“Are you coming?” She beckoned and the young emperor could not get undressed fast enough before he joined her in the waters himself.
To his shock and delight, her lips were soft as she kissed him, her garment seemed to vanish in the waters as he soon sat down on the seat in the bath waters as she pressed her surprisingly hot yet soft and supple body up to his before her entrance seemed to find his cock before she eased down onto it and moaned in pleasure.
He had never felt anything quite like it before. She was somehow wet, and soft and her womanhood seemed to be curved and conformed to him, so that he could slide in and out of her, while several soft stones seemed to stand out that his manhood rubbed against with every stroke in and out of her.
He expected her kisses to taste like sulfur. But she simply tasted like the purest mountain spring waters. Her hair was thicker and heavier than he imagined, because her hair was a soft crystalline strand. He expected such delicate strands to break at the slightest touch. But instead he found he could comb his fingers through their silky softness, not finding a single knot anywhere among it. He expected her flesh to taste of sulfur too, but that wasn’t the case either. It was that same pure mountain stream water taste and he was delighted when he could suck, nibble and lick such flesh while the rest of the world seemed to fall away while she rode him with a strength and stamina, he thought only the toughest wild horses had.
He grabbed her hips to move her over him as his own hips hiked up into her and as different as her flesh was from his, somehow, they seemed to become one in this moment. He could feel her heartbeat in her own chest as it pressed against his own.
He watched in astonishment as she found her pleasure and her whole body seemed to glow with its own iridescence as she looked almost like she was made more out of opal than of white jade. As all the colors seemed to bloom and flash all around her body and especially of her skin. It was just plain mesmerizing and before he could stop himself, his own pleasure came as he pulled her tightly to herself as his own body tensed and shuddered as he pushed rope after rope of precious seed into her. Knowing all too well that while such precious Imperial Seed would not take root, the pleasure that came from it- exceeded the pleasure he had had when lying with any other woman in his harem.
He had been given a warning, to not even attempt this before he had had his “fill” of his imperial harem. But the temptation to partake of this pleasure was too great for him to resist, once he found out such a thing was possible.
But it was as if, as soon as one pleasure was about to recede, a new pleasure started to bloom as they moved around the large Imperial Bath and used up every inch of it to practically fuck each other’s brains out. The water, helping him handle her usually very heavy weight better, since she was “organically elemental”, some of the principles that some things, like a being’s body being lighter in water, whereas other inorganic things were always heavy, no matter if it was water or air around it.
But it wasn’t until his body begged for mercy for a break from the pure ecstasy her touches created, his body was tired and exhausted from his endeavors in giving her pleasure and receiving his own from her, that he finally asked to stop.
“Please, no more, I need rest.” He begged as she came up from the watery depths after sucking him off for the…he lost count. But it all felt wonderful, but his body was tired, his body was oversaturated with pleasure and there was hardly any sulfur left in either the water or air.
“Ok. Let’s get you to bed, to rest.” She readily offered as she gave him one last sweet kiss before she walked him over to the stairs and put the many drying cloths on him as he let her and the other bath attendants she had called, help assist him in drying him off before they moved him over to the bed.
“Can..can you…sleep beside me?” He asked her as he laid in the bed but didn’t want to leave her side.
“For a time.” She agreed as she went into the bed, it’s groaning under her weight as she gathered him back into her arms and pet his head, specifically his own long hair as he was quick to fall asleep in his own bed before she withdrew to go back to her own jade house to get some rest herself since it had been a several decades since the last time she herself got to indulge in the land walkers ‘intercourse’ and she had almost forgotten how good it could feel before she rolled over in her bed of soft opals to get some sleep herself.
However, from that first night forth, once a month, he always looked forward to his “gemling night” with her. And even as he aged, she never seemed to. But they grew fond of each other over the years. And when he died, she was right there beside him, crying tears of diamonds over her favorite emperor. And while she had grown attached, she had also prepared herself for this. And made his own mausoleum out of the red jasper he was always so fond of, carving out her own last love letter on the very inside of it in gold as she kept the very pearls he had given her, in a necklace always around her neck and never leaving it.
And while she was happy to send him off, never again did she take a human lover. But when she got back to her tribe when she officially “retired” and her “replacement” came to relieve her. She did name her first child after him, as a way of keeping all of her beautiful memories of him for the rest of her life.
And when it was time for her to pass, she made the last journey to her precious emperor’s tomb. And while all that was left was his remains, she was happy to finally lay beside them, wrapping what was left of his imperial garments over her one last time, reading the last declaration of love she had given him being the last thing she saw, her memories of their decades together being the last ones to play in her mind before her own mind and body finally gave out so that they were both laid to rest in peace, together.

Ficmas22: Day 12: Korean Alice WIP
Hi guys.
This fic wasn't the plan tonight but in the space of twenty-four hours I have acquired a second-degree sunburn (everything they say about the Australian sun in summer is true, and it was a really dumb mistake) and a sprained ankle. So we've got some Korean Alice tonight!
It takes less than a day for Jasper to bring him the information Alice has requested. She cloisters herself in Esme’s studio, on the make-shift bed they’ve arranged. She makes herself a sandwich and washes her clothing, but other than that, appears to sleep.
“The survivors of the Busan attack,” Carlisle tells her, in front of the family as everyone is curious about her, “have relocated to Hong Kong under the protection of Huang Gao.”
If anything, the girl gets paler, and Jasper is as far away from her as he can get.
Alice nods. “Any word of the survivors?”
“I’m afraid not but I’m sure we can pass on a message?” Carlisle offers, wishing this girl would give them something to work with.
“No, you’ve done more than I hoped.” Her voice is dull, and she seems to make up her mind. “And I will ask you for one more favour so I might leave you in peace - I need to return to Busan. I have a Korean passport but no money.”
“Who is Hala?” Edward interrupts, and Jasper straightens up.
“A friend I hope survived the attack. She will find me in Busan, if she is still alive,” Alice says.
“Hala of the Pravat coven?” Jasper asks, and Carlisle is vaguely relieved at this clue of her identity.
“Yes.”
“How do you know them?”
“I worked for Ratana.”
//
“You say you’ve never met me, Jasper Hale.” She switches from English to Korean. “And it seems we’re both acquainted with Hala.”
The dawning realisation on Jasper’s face is both funny and terrible as his eldest son stares at their guest.
“She didn’t - only for the transport,” Jasper manages, but he looks sick. “That was the agreement I consented to.”
Alice said nothing.
“When did we meet?” Jasper asked, and the family is looking between them, like a tennis match.
“Some time ago. I don’t really keep track of these things,” Alice seems very distant. “You were… a good friend to me, Jasper. I protected you as best as I could, but Hala answers to higher authorities than I. I would not have disturbed you and your family if I was not in dire need.”
//
She gets back to Busan much faster than she left it, in only a day and a half. The Cullens have given her enough cash to travel, supplied her with a suitcase of clothing that she doesn’t even bother to claim from baggage.
Her apartment is in a skinny building overlooking a narrow street with a jumble of businesses - some cafes, a shoe-repairer, a pawn shop, an overflowing grocery store, and a laundromat. All wide, grimy windows for twelve floors. Some residents are brave enough to hang their laundry between the buildings. She’s not.
She wasn’t the last person in her apartment, she realises when she walks in. The door has been fixed, but was recently broken - she can see the seam of repairs. It’s one of those rare times where she’s pleased that she - well, Ratana - pays her rent months ahead of time, because she still has a place to live.
The floor is filthy, the bed has been torn apart, and the emergency phone has been smashed. They’ve even cut into her armchair, shoved her few cups and plates to the floor. Her lamp and her ancient television are gone, probably stolen. The clothing she left behind is crumpled on the floor.
The whole place is trashed.
It takes her a week to put her life back into order - the Cullens’ travel money covers a replacement mattress, and she raids the pawn shop and the thrift store for a new armchair, new clothes and bedding, new dishes. And another ancient television that doesn’t always play in colour.
She gets a job cleaning at the cafe across the street, and the owner treats her with suspicion but pays her in cash at the end of each shift. If it’s been a good day, he gives her food to take home. It’s not the best food, been sitting under a heat lamp all day, but she takes it gratefully and sometimes even eats it.
She doesn’t throw away the phone that the Cullens gave her. Two messages come through, from Dr Cullen checking that she arrived safely and then one expressing concern for the lack of response.
It takes her sixty eight days to steel herself enough to send back a polite thank you and reassure him she made it back to Korea. Then she turns it off.
Winter folds into spring, and that just means scraping together money for clothing and shoes. She hasn’t exactly looked for her coven, or anyone, but no one has come looking for her and she doesn’t know how long she’s going to be alone. And that means that her money has to stretch to rent and food and clothing. The allowance Ratana had given her had not been generous, but that was only because Ratana paid her rent directly to the landlord.
So, she cleans. And sometimes she hangs around the laundromat, getting paid to wash and dry other peoples’ clothing whilst they go off and do something more important. The owner chases her off, some days, and she only earns enough to cover a day’s food on a good day but it fills in the time.
That’s mostly what she’s doing right now. Filling in time. She has her routine down to the minute - wake up, make tea, get changed, tidy up, go to the laundromat for a few hours, go to work, come home, shower, eat something, and sleep.
Rinse and repeat.
There’s a hollowness in her chest that seems to get bigger
He bought her the beads when he proposed - the Markets of 1968. The only place open to buy a ring was the Markets, and neither of them wanted to buy one there. He swore that when they got to America, he’d get her the most beautiful ring ever seen. But until then, a string of black and gold beads around her neck would have to do.
The first Market back is two years after the attack. She’s impressed Ratana is that efficient, but the woman is a one-person army. Except, it’s different now. Ratana works under the protection of Huang Gao now - for how long, nobody knows. Ratana is insistent that she remain a secret, swears that none of the Chinese coven know about her existence.
She’s really not expecting him to attend, honestly. She sinks herself into market-work, into making sure the girls are comfortable, into packing stock and pricing and dealing with customers. She darts between stalls at Amita’s request, filling in for sellers when they need to take a break.
“No one from the Hale or Cullen coven came,” Hala says kindly, at the end of the night. She’s sweeping up the mess of blood and sawdust and dirt that covers the floors, and not in the mood to speak.
“No,” she says, as one of the other workers tosses another bucket of water onto the mess on the floor. She’s accepted that her shoes are done for tonight, she’ll have to throw them in the burn pile. She doesn’t bother to point out the singular guest from the Hale-Cullen coven was Jasper. And he’s never missed a Market before.
“Are you…?” Hala begins, and she shrugs.
“There was a ‘before’, so I expected there to be an ‘after’,” she manages, making a face when she thinks she spots a clump of hair. Whichever fucker decided to feed on the floor deserved to be banned for life.
Hala nods and lets her keep cleaning, maybe recognising that this isn’t the time for such a conversation; that they might be close, but they aren’t the sort of close where either of them cry on each other’s shoulders. Where either of them know a single thing about the other outside of the business.
That none of them have really been okay since the Volturi’s recruitment. They are all stretched thin, taunt and worried. Worried about Aro of Italy, worried about Ratana’s alliance with Huang Gao, worried about the future.
“You can go.” Ratana’s hand is firm on her shoulder, as she takes the broom from her, and slips some folded notes into her hand. “Get some sleep and some food, yes?”
She nods, and Ratana summons some new recruit with the snap of her fingers to continue to wash away the blood.
Hala guides her back to the streets, and she makes her way home as the sun peaks over the horizon. None of the vendors she eats at are still open, most of them packing up. The streets are nearly empty; this isn’t a face of the city she normally sees. It feels very strange.
She wonders how long it takes to fall out of love with someone.
Jasper brings the whole family to the second market, and just seeing him on the floor is enough to make her feel sick and ashamed, so when Biyu tells her Ratana wants her working in the backroom, she agrees quickly.
Mrs Cullen definitely spots her, but doesn’t say anything. She just looks curious.
If she watches them from one of the windows, it’s only because doing the books for Ratana is inherently dull work, even with the runners bringing the invoices and receipts every hour. She watches them roam the floor, watches what they choose for themselves.
Watches the scene they cause when they come upon the flesh sellers, and she idly wonders if they realise those girls are here for both fucking and feeding, buyer’s choice. She can’t pick which one they would be more upset over. But Ratana does her best, and every single body for sale is a dead girl walking. Disease, drugs, poverty, or good old-fashioned gang warfare - none of them has a life anymore, and this is an easy way to make life-changing amounts of money for their parents or siblings or children or friends.
Ratana lets her leave sometime around two, letting her slip out ahead of the Cullens. For some incomprehensible reason, Ratana presses a bag of hot food into her hands as she turns to go and she nods her thanks.
In the street, she walks only a few meters down the road before she sits down in the gutter, and opens up whatever Ratana has decided to give her. It’s still warm, and she eats it absently, still contemplating the walk home. She’ll have two days off, now - to sleep and clean and fill her time, so that she’s nowhere nearby when Huang Gao’s representative comes to collect his money.
Immortality is so very dull and lonely.
“Hello.”
She looks up to see the Cullens standing over her, and she hates that. She’s no stranger to casual racism, to overt racism. How many times throughout the years have white people grabbed at her, told her she’s ‘pretty for one of them’? Have assumed she’s a sex worker, that she’ll do anything they ask for American or British currency?
And now she’s sitting in the gutter, at their feet.
“Good evening.” Her voice is steady, and she rises easily, tucking her food into her bag. “I didn’t expect to see you all here.”
“Safer to travel as a family these days,” Mrs Cullen smiles at her, and she wonders if the woman feels bad for how their family treated her when she first arrived looking for help.
“I’ve heard that.” And she has. But she doesn’t have anyone to travel with. Maybe that’s why she’s stuck in Busan.
“We didn’t mean to interrupt your meal,” Edward Cullen is quick to interject and she waves it off. Jasper is hovering behind them, with most of the family. It’s only the Dr and Mrs Cullen, and Edward who have come over to her.
“If it was a true interruption, I would still be eating,” she says absently. “I need to make my way home. Enjoy your time in Busan.”
She turns and wanders away then, and she’s pleased that she doesn’t look back and she didn’t look at Jasper anymore than to determine where he was. He hadn’t approached her at all. Her detour to Forks had clearly changed everything, and that was not unexpected. But if Jasper had no interest in her, then she has little interest in befriending his family. They were clients of Ratana’s, nothing more.
By the time she’s home, the rest of her food is cold and congealing, and she throws it away, and curls up in her chair to watch television until she falls asleep.

Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
Escape Plan might not have been a great film but it had a solid premise. It was a decent hit at the box office, which is why (I’m guessing) some greedy Chinese producers decided to turn this into a franchise. This is an awful film. It barely feels like a follow-up to the 2013 picture because it tosses the main case aside to focus on new characters in a moronic plot entirely devoid of fun.
Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) has expanded his security company with newcomers Shu Ren (Huang Xiaoming), Jasper Kimbral (Wes Chatham) and Luke Graves (Jesse Metcalfe). Now they do more than simply test the security measures of top-security penitentiaries: they also rescue hostages. After Kimbral makes a bad call and a hostage is killed, Breslin fires him. A year later, Shu and his cousin Yusheng Ma (Chen Tang) are kidnapped and imprisonned in a high-tech facility. Overseen by robot guards, “Hades” is ruled by “The Zookeeper”, who forces his prisoners to fight. Win and you get rations. Lose and you walk away with nothing.
They probably only had Stallone, 50 Cent and Jaime King for a couple of days, just enough time to have them at the beginning and at the end of the movie. In the middle, we’re following new characters you wouldn't care about even if they had been involved since the franchise started. Immediately, you know this super prison thing is tied to Kimbral. He’s a tech genius (a.k.a. hacker wizard) and isn't happy about being fired so of course he’s got to be the mastermind behind the curtain. He would've gotten away with his secret operation too, if only he hadn't kidnapped one of his ex-co-workers' cousin. Or maybe the coincidence is that one of his ex-co-workers had someone worth kidnapping. This film is not concerned with whether things make sense. This is why The Zookeeper has people fight in MMA-style battles, why the prison has robot guards but inmates cook food, why there are forcefields everywhere when metal bars would’ve sufficed. The building looks like a rejected set from Tron: Legacy and when you find out where it is hidden, you’ll flip your lid. None of this makes ANY sense.
To prevent you from falling asleep, scenes featuring a new character played by David Bautista have been shot/spliced in. All of them feel like they come from a bargain-bin action movie, the kind you star in when your power to attract audiences has dwindled to nothing but the most dedicated and brainwashed fans. Desperate audiences might have a couple of laughs at the expense of the way-too-dedicated-and-simultaneously-useless henchmen or ridiculous characters we meet in the prison - my favourite being a trio of hackers who dress like vampires and repeat “We are Legion” over and over. Even so, there isn’t a moment of Escape Plan 2 that makes you wonder why you haven’t shut it off yet.
With each character more boring than the last, the plot being essentially a re-tread of the first, the action scenes looking like they were shot from inside a washing machine and none of the performers displaying any charisma, Escape Plan 2: Hades almost has an unintentional meta-quality. It becomes a mega-dungeon that extinguishes all hope of escape. 96 minutes? Might as well be a life sentence. (October 2, 2020)

Faye Wong's January dates may perk up Chinese concert market here (1994)
It is confirmed - Hong Kong pop queen Faye Wong will bring her hit concert to the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Jan 13 and 14 next year.
The Best of Faye Wong Concert '95 may mean a boost for the depressed market for Chinese gigs here. In the British territory, all tickets for her 15 shows (Dec 22 to Jan 5) were reportedly snapped up within two hours after going on sale.
Mr. Jimmy Loh, managing director of Jasper Productions, says he expects the singer, 26, to do equally well here.
He is pricing tickets from $50 to 175 - a far cry from the $300 he charged for the top seats at Jacky Cheung's show here in March.
He says: "The unprecedented ticket-pricing of $300 for Cheung's concert may never come again because Cheung is by far the hottest entertainer around.
"The production costs of Wong's concert is lower because she is relatively new and we are also using a stage with three sides instead of a centre-stage.
"We also hope to lower ticket prices because the turnout for certain Cantopop concerts here has not been too good."
Alan Tam's concert in late July saw the Singapore Indoor Stadium barely 60-percent filled.
George Lam's June date at the Harbour Pavilion was only 80-percent attended, while Leon Lai's April gig had an 85-percent turnout.
The Wong concerts in Hong Kong and Singapore are the first time the China-born is performing together with boyfriend Dou Wei. The Beijing rock singer will play drums.
One can also expect a visual treat from Wong who is noted for her bold image. This is a result of a one-year hiatus in New York in 1992 after recording her first three albums.
She was discovered at the age of 18 by one of Hong Kong's most influential voice coaches, Tai See Chong. He also trained three of the four Heavenly Kings - Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, and Leon Lai.
She made her singing debut in 1990; her first hit was the Cantonese song, Easily Hurt Woman, which inspired a Mandarin version by Cally Kwong.
The track is from Wong's fourth album. This and her subsequent work, Unregrettably Obsessive, sold 300,000 copies each in Hong Kong alone.
The daughter of an engineer and a classical singer who left for Hong Kong from China in 1988, Wong also pens her own lyrics and has been praised for the verses in her hit, Unregrettably Obsessive.
She also has a say in the numbers that go in her albums.
Her latest album, Sky, which hit the shelves more than a month ago, has been hailed by critics as one of the year's best Mandarin albums.
Most of the tracks are originals, and from famous tune-smiths like Huang Shu-chun and Wang Chung-yan.
Wong's style is unrestrained and natural. Her albums like Sky and Mesmerized have an ethereal, dreamy quality and suit her sweet, crystal-clear voice.
Some have come to associate her singing style with that of The Cranberries and her individualistic and alternative stage persona as resembling that of Western contemporaries Bjork and Rickie Lee Jones.
She was even thought to be a shadow of veteran Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng when she first launched her career.
But as Wong moves gradually towards assuming the mantle of Hong Kong pop queen from Sally Yeh, she is displaying an increasingly unique style of singing.
In fact, the young woman pipped Yeh to win the Best Female Vocalist award at the Commercial Radio Hit Awards in Hong Kong in January.
And a week later, she lost the Jade Solid Gold Awards best female vocalist title to Yeh by only a small percentage.
Wong is also the only woman to make this year's list of top-earning entertainers in Hong Kong with an income of $4 million from albums, concerts, movies, and advertisements.
Says Polytechnic student Eric See: "I'm looking forward to the concert since this is the first time Faye Wong is performing in Singapore. The pop phenomenon is hard to miss."

8090 Jasper Lau partner takes charge of major banks
Rise 8090 provides insight into how billionaire money is playing an increasing role in venture capital. Family offices — the private investment firms of the wealthy — have more than doubled their share of venture capital deals in the past decade, and provisions are set to increase even more, according to research from SVB Capital and Campden Wealth published this year. Since early 2021, he has bet 8,090 on more than a dozen healthcare, energy and finance startups, most of them in the United States. He is a major investor in artificial intelligence company Luminous Computing, along with Bill Gates and Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick. Luminous raised $105 million in a Series A round in March, with plans to double the size of its engineering team. With about $200 million in assets, 8090 is a small company but it stands out as a competitor to major Wall Street banks in attracting ultra-rich families. attributed to him:AP “Jasper was the first person to bet on me when I started Luminous,” said Marcus Gomez, CEO of Santa Clara, California, which received about $30 million from 8,090. Problem, it’s one of my first phone calls, and it almost always has a solution.” Lau partially took a break from working on YouTube. As a high school student in 2011, Lau added FiscalNote Holdings founder Tim Huang as a Facebook friend after finding footage on the video platform of the award-winning entrepreneur. The couple spoke and kept in touch. Before starting 8090, Lau helped oversee early stage investments in FiscalNote that he said returned more than 200 percent. Hwang later introduced Lau to Kerem Ozmen, who through his family’s investment firm provided some funding for the $180 million purchase of FiscalNote’s CQ Roll Call media business from The Economist Group in 2018. While FiscalNote shares have fallen since it began trading in August after its merger with Duddell Street Acquisition Corp, the 8090 posted a 62 percent gain on an $18 million convertible bond maturing in July, Lau said. With recession fears mounting, Lau is confident his company’s small size and wealthy backers give it an edge, even if some tech entrepreneurs may prefer taking money from giants like Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz that have survived previous recessions. While the 8090 would normally raise capital on a deal-by-deal basis, it is now finalizing a fund focused on tech founders and increasingly focused on debt transactions as startups avoid separating from equity in this year’s recession. “One might think things are slowing down, but they are accelerating,” Lau said. “Our ability to be agile and fast on our feet at 8,090 gives us an advantage over other venture capital firms that have to go through a lot of bureaucracy.” loading After initially focusing on the younger members of billionaire families, the 8090 now also works with the older generations on their venture investments as well as other areas, such as philanthropy. The company, which has a few employees in Los Angeles and New York, may be seeking more super-rich supporters in the world, but they have to meet specific criteria. “It’s really about finding culturally appropriate families that will be long-term partners with us,” Lau said. “We want families who can actually add more color to what we’ve already put on our canvas.” Source link Originally published at Melbourne News Vine

Use For My Talent 7.5
Story: 7
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 9
Comparable to: Clean with Passion for Now (kdrama); I Cannot Hug You (cdrama)
So this is the remake of the Korean version that’s slightly longer. The cdrama pretty much have the same storylines. They modernize it a smudge and build on some of the supporting characters a bit, but not by much. In fact it did get draggy midway which is why I actually like the kdrama version a little more and admit the chemistry was better in it too despite the higher age difference, which again I know a lot of fans didn’t like. Despite all the issues this drama might have, underneath it all it’s still quite watchable, especially if you like romcoms. Yes it’s cheesy, predictable, cliche, basically knocks off everything you can expect in a romantic cdrama comedy. If you’ve seen ‘Clean with Passion for Now’, you know what you’re getting. Go in with low expectations and maybe you’ll end with ‘hey that was an all right decent drama.’
