Oh boy this one is very Scarian in 3rd Life coded. Some of the lyrics are "Giving you a kiss as I melt and set you free. My first death is for you, so you can cry for me."
Anyway warning for character death and suicide (aka the end of 3rd life)
The explosion rang out, making Grian flinch back from the loud noise. For a moment he couldn't tell exactly what happened, his vision swimming and his ears ringing loudly. That's why it took him longer than it should've to realize that the creeper's explosion had killed Scar.
Grian never meant for that to happen.
Scar respawned, now with newly formed scars tracing over his arm and back. He didn't seem that upset, but Grian pulled him to the side, bending down on one knee as he looked up at Scar. “My first death is for you.”
Grian would stay by Scar's side until his first death. That was the deal. An obligation, perhaps, but Grian took it seriously. He built them a home, helped Scar, did everything he could, even when Scar died again. Scar seemed to forget the arrangement, but Grian was quick to remind him, it was Grian's first death on the line here, not Scar's. He still accepted the flowers Scar had given him anyway, weaving them into his hair. The red of the poppies suited him well.
Grian eventually fell. His duty was up, but after all he had been through with Scar, he couldn't abandon him. That's what he told himself.
He didn't expect them to end up as the final two, nor for Scar to so obviously throw their final fight. It was over before he knew it, Scar lying on the sand, his blood staining it was red as the poppies that had fallen from his hair.
Grian didn't know how to mourn for such a death. Well, it didn't matter really. And once he was done, there would be no one left to mourn for him, anyway.
He leaned over, gently kissing Scar's cheek. He whispered to him, “My last death is for you, so you can cry for me.”
When Grian took his final leap, he knew that the only tears being shed were his own.
