Writing fanfic with like 90% of the plot already planned is so funny but also so painful because every time there’s a mystery I purposefully put into the story as something that will be foreshadowed to revealed and revealed later in just praying people don’t think its a plot hole.

Like for example, the timeline OG Cale and Choi Han living in being different from TBoaH with some similarities. (The major differences being that Lily Henituse is alive, and while the rest of the continent took a pretty hard hit with the war, the Roan Kingdom managed to rebuild some of itself later in the war) , this one is so important because like, things aren’t supposed to be that way! I didn’t change canon for no reason! That happened for a reason! Guys! I swear!

Same thing with like KRS and OG Cale being able to hear eachother since they were young through their dreams, like that also has a reasoning behind it I promiseeee guys I swear😭😭 it’s like my biggest irrational fear that people will think that I’m just doing these things with nothing to back them up even though I know I shouldn’t rlly think abt it too much and just write the story like I intended 😭😭

I feel like a part of writing fanfic, especially LCF fanfic that makes me so nervous is the fact that canon is already and established and really well written universe. If things change, I feel like I need to make it OBVIOUS that they changed on purpose and not cause I’m changing things for the sake of changing them.

Sometimes I re read older chapters and go “wow, the delivery of this line sucked! I should re-write that slightly” because I’ve gotten better at phrasing things but WHAT IF ITS TOO LATEEEEEEE 😭😭😭😭😭😭 when I don’t have a limited vocabulary anymore it’s going to be the day I write something real good

Like I’m reading the early chaoters of [In the Borderline] and it’s like, FUCK some of these things just look like a dues ex machina even though they have reasons behind them.

I think a huge part of it is because of the wording, and how sudden everything is, I should have emphasized the characters confusion to these things to as a way to show that yes, things are off, BUT I DIDNT BECAUSE WHEN I WAS WRITING I FORGOT TO PROOF READ 😭😭😭😭 AND NOW ITS TOO LATEEE

Idk I’m just saying stuff at this point, but I guess my point is for a story like lcf, I want my fanfic to be something good becauee I really love lcf. I want to be able to write a story that shows how much I love the characters and things I want to see happening, but without erasing importance of characters or anything from TCF because I firmly believe that KRS is important no matter what.

There are things I will never change, like KRS being the one to name Raon, KRS being the children averaging whatever years old’s father, KRS having the silver shield(cause I think that’s like THE ancient power that represents him, that and Vitality of the Heart)

In a regression fic like [In the Borderline], where the time line has diverged so much, and in general is a fic that plays the long game when it comes to plot points, I just want it to be clear that everything happens for a reason and that I’ll never change KRS’s importance to the story, cause in that fic, OG Cale and KRS are both so important.

Choi Han too but he’s like, supposed to be cool and mysterious rn I can’t reveal too much abt him and TBoaH and why the world Cale and Choi Han lived in has so many differences from TboaH novel

the saddest thing abt idw is i just wanna read abt my fave sonic characters. sonic amy tails knux is my dream team and the chars in this series are all really important to me so it kind of sucks that instead giving spotlight to characters that arent really in the games much (cream!! the chaotix!!) im given like. ocs. idm surge but im not caught up and i already feel the surge fatigue. my issue with all of the idw ocs is that oh my god their characters drag so much (belle omfg its been like 20 issues) where i feel theyd be better as 1 or 2 issue additions that dont take too much focus away from the main cast. (1/2)

(2/2) the other thing is like. if there was less focus on the ocs (they even have a spinoff??) we'd get more content of the main characters and maybe a few more moments of decent characterisation. a broken clock is right twice a day yknow. there Are still small moments in idw ive rlly liked

It's funny that you say that you don't like the focus on minor characters like Cream and the Chaotix because from what I've seen, that's exactly one of the reasons fans adore Flynn: his bringing back and fleshing out minor characters such as Gemerl, and adding interactions you wouldn't normally see (Knuckles and Amy, Sonic and Espio) :P to be fair, while I'm of the opposite mind and I like when minor characters are given another chance, the Season of Chaos story was super cute and I would like something similar with the Modern cast. IDW could easily have been a slice of life comic with the main characters, like the Sonic Channel stories of last year. Oh well.

I honestly forgot the last time canon characters got the spotlight. The last arc before Surge and Kit's introduction was Amy going camping with a bunch of OCs, instead of Cream and Rouge like she coulv have. When was the last time we've even seen Knuckles, outside of the annual with Blaze? I think the Chaotix got the spotlight in... ehh #48, but they were so pointless. Because of Surge and Kit's nature, the story has become the Sonic & Tails show... which is what the modern games have been accused of. You see anyone complaining? Of course not.

Anyway, hard agree with the dragging of characters. IDW's pacing is glacial. We had to deal with Surge and Kit for less than a year, and I'm already sick of them, because they didn't really do anything in the meantime, we just had #50 and I ranted long enough about the Sonic vs. Surge "fight".

Some characters really feel like they should have been much more minor. Starline got killed off like a minor bad guy instead of the main villain that he became by replacing Eggman. Belle's main appeal was discovering her origins story, and now that it's been confirmed, she has nothing relevant to do. Surge and Kit's story could have been interesting, with their fake identities, but it's been derailed for reasons I don't understand.

Then again, the focus on OCs is out of mere convenience :)

Ok black white and blood #4 thoughts as I read, spoilers beneath cut.

Story 1, Good Morning:

It feels like the writing is trying to b deep ab how the game is played and what it is but it reads v clunky n repetitive

There r Xs yeah I get it

Did like the bit where he fights the avengers too, the way friends twist to enemies

The last bit w each of the other alters n Marlene rlly just made me reframe all of this from the perspective of Moon Knight as a separate alter and that… does make me like it more

Like looking at him as the one truly stuck in the cycle of battle for Khonshu over n over n over n over and that’s all he knows and he’s just fighting to survive even against other parts? Def made me like the story in the end

Story 2, The Scent of Blood:

Love the smoke effects and the way scenes melt into each other

ALSO right off the bat love the more retro style, esp w the costume design

Mmmmm perfume n blood is such a fun aesthetic

I do like Marc fighting back because he’s familiar with having a god in his head however…

As w a lot of BWnB stories there feels like there’s a missing page or two with context that gets taken out. Either that or I just can’t read but truly at least one is really confusing each issue to me.

Like I was on board until the end. Why did Marc cut himself to win? Why did that hurt Shemsu too? I like the first half n the last bit but it feels like something was skipped and makes it anticlimactic feeling in the end

Still a fun one tho

Story 3, Born To Be:

Cat!!!

Love this style the most out of the three, easy to read and what’s happening is well colored w the color limit so it doesn’t get lost

Guy in the back of the cab was CREEPY

The body having acid reflux… that’s so funny n also real

Ouuuuuu love the weird cutting n mystery and again this art sLAPS

I think this one was my favorite, just like short and simple and didn’t try to stretch out of its boundaries. A bit creepy a bit weird but not confusing, just like the twists of dreams. It was really quiet. Also again, best BWnB art so far I think, so many past ones have been hard to track when they don’t work on differentiating the background with the monochrome. Good stuff!

Overall I think this issue was my fav so far just bc it didn’t have any stories that I hated. They were either like “eh but I like it” or “good” which is better than some of the downright “what the fuck” of previous ones. Vibes!

our rehearsal is excellent, we're great, then fhe real thing he freezes up and goes monotone in front of the audience and i think we actually stop the scene and i go 'nah u were _amazing_ in the rehearsal, you can do it, put the emotion and desperation back into it) and then he does and we do that rlly tragic amazing scene, all like grasping each other with blood on my hands but still idk holding close in goodbye

anyway then the scene ends and the cast are mingling after it, everyones jolly, and he takes me aside for a second and he looks , idk, rattled, and im like, do u wanna go talk after this? u ok? and he nods

the dream told me that he was rattled by how vulnerable he had been on stage, how brave that was, and how lmao different it was to his persona shall we say

but then before we get to talk, the dream ends :((

I feel like...at least irl...The eyes usually give it away if someone is interested in you or not. you can always see if someone is checking you out and noticing you in a different light like it just has different vibe and feel to it. OX was def trying to show and not tell with this panel that MGS has noticed HT and stares at him in the way we all hope he does. We don’t really get to see and (and I guess it keeps us on our toes and keeps us wondering if the little redhead could actually be falling for HT)—so it’s very subtle, but it is there, and once you notice it you’re like d a m n this makes the kiss scene so much more hopeful (at least for me).

I think this was the push that gave HT hopes to kiss MGS in the first place and it gets overlooked. How do you think HT own curiosity peeked? I think as a community we often think abt Mo and how he developed feelings or will develop feelings for HT but rarely do we ever questions The Who what when where and how He Tian came to like Mo himself. I have my own feelings about them that I can’t explain in this post, least it gets off-topic, but I think it’s very important.

I think his comment “Do I really disgust you that much” makes more sense in this context, of MGS giving HT some reassurance through non-verbal ques. HT was already under the impression that MGS was egging him on with his staring so it can warrant some of He Tian’s confusion. HT probably is pursuing MGS bc he probably senses some lvl of homosexual tension from Mo, and it’s exciting to him. Not only that, but MGS is exciting in his character. So I think HT was also relatively new to this venture and kinda spontaneously kissed Mo out of his own curioustes to explore their attractions and to get a grasp of what Mo was feeling.

It also makes me think HT and MGS experienced some undeniable pleasure or unspoken moment that could not be denied within the kiss as attraction and when MGS then decided to go agaisnt that with violence it only further hit HT, who knew MGS was lying to himself. I mean, it’s a classic BL moment. The two kiss, obviously feel smth (probably couldn’t show much of that due to censorship so had to pass it along as a 100% unsatisfactory exchange) and then one, feeling too much all at once and isn’t comfortable with their confirmed suspensions abt their sexuality—denies everything to the other causing further tensions especially sense both know how eachother really feel despite the others denial. And then the rejected one downplays the kiss’ seriousness to soothe their ego knowing full well the kiss meant smth. So they both internalize what the other said and both feel rejected, but both actually liked it. It’s a classic.

I truly feel that if it wasn’t due to censorship, that the kissing scene would’ve looked a lot more consensual than so forceful and wrong. Like it would’ve been taken as an tension filled “experimentation” that we see a lot in BLs and it only further ties into why MGS would be so bashful whenever the kiss is mentioned, and why HT can use it As a leverage over Mo (“don’t make me kiss you again”) bcuz it brings them back to thy moment where HT experienced some “answer” between Mo and that answer was fulfilling even tho it cannot be fulfilled and probably HT is hoping that maybe one day if he teases him enough about it they can share another kiss one that is a lot less rushed and now that they are closer, will lead to a better result.

Anyways those are my speculations. And I actually have written a short story based on these assumptions(focused on the kiss—and it’s also leading up to a jealously fic) but ofc I haven’t written it in ahwile haha. Just thought it was worth sharing since I noticed 19 days has been updating pretty “eh” lately.

my opinions on venom #1 because I don’t have any comic friends to rlly discuss this with lol sorry fr inflicting my tumblr followers w this idk how to process all that

this is like a messy mix of a reread with just my thoughts slapped on and some opinions too idk

final thoughts ig, i just didnt really feel much. its only issue 1 so i wasnt expecting to get blown away but it just sort of left me scratching my head. its just sort of jarring where i just finished rereading stuff like web of venom: good sons and then the costa run + first host, and im going into this issue... like i think the parenting stuff is rlly the only thing sticking in my head atm. ill probably reread frm the start when we get to issue #4 which is what im mostly anticipating (bcs im expecting to see flash, andi and or bren cameo).

we dont get to see much on dylan and symby’s dynamic which sucks, bcs thats what i was mostly lookin gout fr in this issue. we do get some more sleeper and dylan interactions which im always happy fr tho! its... a little underwhelming though, actually super underwhelming. sleeper kind of just follows dylan around and its, fine i guess? but i just expected more quips or interjections frm sleeper.

im honestly more interested in dylan’s side of the story which surprised me like i really have 0 care left fr eddie now. which sucks bcs he endeared me sm as a character, but at least currently, he’s sort of just a husk.

anyway my theory on the whole “dylan and symby not getting along” that keeps being teased im sure itll just be dylan’s rage “infecting” the symbiote all over again or bcs dylan decided to bond with it despite eddie’s warnings its going to go thru that thing the ringo symbiote which is just. unfortunate. im so tired.

he was really sweet towards her but wasn’t like, over the top, he was kinda chill yk

and that just made her feel so comfortable because she had so many worries about joining nct dream as a girl, she knew monique would also be there, but they weren’t in the same unit so it was very nerve racking for sooyoung

and this girl was like, 15 and she was being thrown into debut suddenly with a bunch of boys, and it was very overwhelming

the first thing he ever said to her was “your shirt’s cool, i like shinee subaenim too!” and it was really quiet and sooyoung was like “thanks ☺️”.

she was wearing a shinee tshirt btw, she’s a big shawol 🤭

they eventually got close though, i mean your bound to be when your with them all day yk

but sooyoung was so soft and gentle w him and reassuring him that it’s okay that hes a lil shy and he just felt comfortable around her, even if it was kinda hard to have conversations

now their inseparable!

she always laughs whenever he breaks something, but she always grabs it and sees if she can fix it for him, while laughing

for the first few years of their debut jisung was like her lil bro, she would always tease him or fool around him

and now its the reverse 😭

jisung always roast her or teases her, and it’s so subtle she would just laugh whenever he said something and then after awhile she realizes what he just said so she’s like ... ☺️😟😳😕

jisung always pats her head when she has her mouth open after he teases her, and is like “hehe, love u”

she gets him back by blasting twice or shinee and dancing on her bed until jisung gets out of bed and turns it off 😭

she never does that when he’s sleeping because she doesn’t actually wanna make him mad 😭

they have never fought and she’s not willing to loose that streak

jisung compared their hand size once and it litteraly made sooyoungs hands look like a baby hand and she was like ... i hate it here

now he always asks for a high five and then he laughs because of the size difference

and she gets SO MAD

Hello! Love your blog. I’m curious though, what do you look for in custom followers? Like what draws you to specific ones and what makes you keep them around?

under the cut cuz i cant stop talking and its all opinion babe

when it comes to first impressions, i don't really have a lot of expectations that makes me think "man i wanna try that guy". I usually grow a love for the character by directly interacting with them in game. I think the only follower mod i ever felt that immediate "holy shit get in my game rn" feeling about was Khash, but that's because i'd literally been dreaming about a kid follower mod since forever because i wanted to feel like i was ACTUALLY adopting a kid and not just contributing to some random orphan's abandonment issues by never being home.

When i check mod pages for followers, i do have a list of stuff that i tend to avoid for personal preferences tho, and sometimes i check online opinion of some custom followers on places like reddit. Not all these opinions are good of course but u can usually tell who is and isn't biased at a glance, and some reviews have definitely saved me from wasting like 10 hours on a follower that had stuff that wasn't for me.

As for what keeps them in my load order, good humor with good awareness for when not to use it! this may sound silly to some, but when i really get into the Skyrim mood i become one of those immersion roleplay nerds who rlly invests themselves into the character they're playing, so having a follower that is both charming with witty banter and smart enough to know when to get serious in the story (even if it's just for like one throw away line) is my sweet spot. It doesn't even have to be like dark and moody serious, but an acknowledgement of the stakes in the story is nice yknow. Also, i like when followers have banter dialogue with you unrelated to any quest and is solely there to establish bonding. Inigo used this to phenomenal effect and now he's literally everybody's best friend.

On a more technical level, i quite like when followers are quest aware and talk about things as they're happening, but that doesn't make or break my enjoyment in a follower. It's just harder for me to feel motivated to bring around followers who aren't quest aware when there are others that are , weirdly? It's my own mental hurdle to overcome LOL. I also prefer when followers have summon spells and what not for ease of travel, but i travel with Khash just fine and she doesn't have one so it's not a deal breaker by any means.

TL;DR followers who are funny but not totally off the rockers goofy, that have good dialogue interactions with the ldb either alongside main quests or/and entirely separate from them, are my faves. Bonus if they teleport

hello have some soft general thoughts on the dsmp, some of which can be used as prompts if u want!! (👀 i was gonna submit the last one as a proper prompt but i dont wanna make another ask lmao)

- edward the enderman (c!technos old roomie who i refuse to believe is dead) and ranboo get along rlly well. one time ranboo went for a galactic lesson and it was snowing and edward was brushing all the snow off him and it was kinda tickly n stuff and he was confused so ranboo had 2 very flusterdly explain what tickling was.

- new comfort duo dropped uh. fundy and sapnap. neway cheer up tickles after the failed wedding pog :)

- george wears rainboots. this isnt a tk hc i just think he deserves big yellow rainboots so he can stomp around in the rain

- idk why giving chars ticklish palms makes me go :] but theres something v soft abt it so anyways tubbo has ticklish palms and tommy only found out bc they were doing a stupid fortune telling bit and he was reading tubbos palms ty gn

- when phil first got his wings he had to get very used to them bc he was rlly feather sensitive for the first like. 5 years of having them. (we're going w immortal phil so thats not too long 4 him) death!kristen thought it was v funny

- when techno was younger and when he went into retirement, he would file down his tusks so they weren't sharp enough to be painful. wilbur feels nothing but Fear whenever technos in a ler mood bc jesus fucking christ the tusks+raspberries absolutely destroy my guy

- niki starts giggling when she hugs puffy bc puffy's at the height where her head fits into the crook of niki's neck and sheep hybrid hair go soft floof

- purpled has markings on his back that connected him to his ufo and soft tracing along them makes him go thru all stages of decomposition until he is simply a pile of bones

- the syndicate's main objective may be anarchy but their secret one is friend family. techno gets them books to read and trains them and niki cooks w them and ranboo teaches them the little ender he knows and how to chart maps and phil shows them how to preen wings and tells them stories and oh my god i cant believe theyr all happy and healthy (real) ((not clickbait))

- the butcher army was just a glorified series of sleepovers. u cant tell me they didnt just talk shit on techno and dream like the plastics from mean girls and do face masks and have tickle fights and watch shitty movies sorry.

- can u tell i really like all the group dynamics. its abt the found family/close friends what can i say.

- the dreamon hunters were just the ultimate crossover between buzzfeed unsolved and scooby doo. also bc i am a part of the 'sapnap is a little shit (affectionate)' agenda he would absolutely poke at the others while they explored dreamon infested sites just to make fun of them when they shrieked.

- tommy likes to do art and he has a shit ton of paintbrushes. coincidentally ranboo has also learnt to Run when hes in a ler mood bc the paint isn't wet enough to burn him its just v tickly and tommy likes to paint little feathers on his sides and tummy and then tubbo, being also of the 'lets torment ranboo bc we love him' ideals, traces over the little paintings when theyr cuddling and ranboo hates them both for it but also no he doesnt. he never really attempts to hide or stop them either.
