Like how kids runaway from home when they get angry or upset over every little thing but come back when they realize how stupid that was?
"Im not allowed to change."
And he DID come back. Who knows how long, but he did. Imagine how he must've felt seeing their empty pod in an empty tree, with the knowledge that he could've done something about it. The Perfect Family Harmony could've saved them. They could've used it to break the cage, to fight the Bergens. Hell, it could've been powerful enough to wipe out all the Bergens if they do so wished.
"Im the oldest, I have to be the leader."
He and his brothers were the only ones who'd ever gotten close to getting it right.
"Why do you think I moved into the middle of nowhere? So I didn't have to be in charge of anyone."
The village was counting on them. Counting on him. He let them down. He failed.

I am fully convinced that people only hate Gale bc it's Liam Hemsworth and because they think he's annoying - and yeah, it's true, he IS annoying, but to like president snow more than him? (its pretty privilege)
Most people know by now that the love triangle in thg is for metaphorical purposes - the choice between peace and war. And it's not even a choice as a reader - there is quite literally no chemistry between gale and katniss (in my opinion). But that doesn't merit hatred for the character himself.
He grows up in the seam, poor and being the breadwinner for his siblings. (how sad) We're supposed to disagree with his motives by the end of it - he shouldn't want to get revenge because that makes him as bad as the capitol (yada yada yada). And Peeta is in the right because he wants to show mercy. (peace vs war)
But Peeta grows up as the bakers son. Has he ever gone hungry? No. Are we meant to feel bad for him because of his mum? idk. His name was in the bowl far, far less times. Does that make it any better? No, because he's picked (and this is meant to be about how the system is awful... you get it). But Peeta doesn't grow up hating the capitol because they don't hurt him... until the games.
Is this an attack on Peeta? No, of course not, but circumstances are important as the actions taken within them (situation ethics). Peeta goes into the games and you'd think his outlook on life changes, but it doesn't. Some people have stronger cores - a lifetime of security within yourself does that.
Peeta goes into the games again, Gale saves the citizens of 12 in the bombing. Peeta's kidnapped. And Gale says this:
"He might have been tortured. Or persuaded. My guess is he made some kind of deal to protect you. He'd put forth the idea of the cease- fire if Snow let him present you as a confused pregnant girl who had no idea what was going on when she was taken prisoner by the rebels. This way, if the districts lose, there's still a chance of
leniency for you. If you play it right." I must still look perplexed because Gale delivers the next line very slowly. "Katniss…he's still trying to keep you alive."
So, he's annoying, but is he a liar? No. He's ever the strategist, thinking of things from the logical point of view. (really grasping for straws but I need a pro and less cons😭)
People really hated Gale for bombs - killing innocent people that just want to help the fallen? (ohno how sad). But are capitol citizens ever really innocent? Bystanders that simply allow children to be murdered year after year? The idea that they simply have no idea of the harm being caused is ludicrous. Do they not have critical thinking skills? No matter what happens in life, you KNOW murder is wrong. No matter what propaganda media shows you.
(also Beetee helped make those bombs too like gale was annoying but stop giving him full credit like if I was beetee I'd be pissed)
So, that comes to the idea that killing people as a whole is unethical, and it doesn't matter that they're awful people. Is that untrue? No. Is it far to those that have been oppressed their entire lives, being told that using force against their oppressors is wrong? Maybe. It's not an easy issue to resolve (kinda explains the metaphor, doesn't it?)
Neoliberalism probably wants you to blame the individuals. Coin, Gale, Snow. Coin and Snow were two sides of the same coin (ooh pun) - politicians, adults, playing for their own power. Is it wrong to enjoy power? No, of course not, just don't abuse it. Gale enjoyed power. But he was fighting for the freedom of the country, not himself. And he's only 19/20. You're a lot angrier when you're younger, as many adults forget.
The system is the real problem, clearly. Why should the capitol have all the power? Why are the districts being used? We don't know. But that's unimportant.
And then there's Katniss. She's the one making the decision - peace or war. On paper, its peace anyday. Katniss has seen both Peeta and Gale's hardships - Gale is a metaphor for who she could have been. Bitter, angry and hateful. It's not unjustified hatred but under Kantian ethics, murder is always wrong. Katniss does not want to retaliate because it's a vicious cycle of violence.
As far as we know, the capitol don't really pay for all they do. I know if I was a district citizen who suffered, I'd want capitol citizens to feel the same way. That is not to say that it is ethical, but it is not unjustified.
It would be more of a fair argument if Peeta and Gale suffered equally, but can you really quantify suffering. Their experiences shape them. Its easier for Peeta to want mercy for the capitol because he wasn't starved his whole life. And Peeta's stance is the right one.
But see, that's why we say complex character and not good person. Because the decisions aren't malicious in intent, just with clashing personal values to the norm. Like, bffr, half the people online hating on this guy would NOT have stood for mercy for the capitol.

We seemed to have reached a rather dull impasse in the ongoing saga of Benedict Cumberbatch and his inability to take charge of his own life.
He has been carried along for 8 years by a fandom that either supports and encourages him or ignores him in favour of a dull, talentless and self involved woman who claims to b his wife. Even he cowers at her presence, looking irate, but hes there.
There has been no growth in his acting skills in all this time. Phil is as confused and powerless as Sherlock was. He has become the living representation of his abuse. Ms Hunter, Adam and David (primarily) abuse and torture him (literally), and he sublimates his pain into his next character. Its an extremely manipulative and dependent relationship from which he seems incapable of extricating himself. Its incredibly sad, bc in my opinion, he is a superior actor. His codependent relationship w his abusers will b the end of him.
Its no wonder he was only humorous in Clarence for 5 minutes. That's probably as much humour as the poor man has in him.

What about Ningyao. WN didn't seem too disturbed by his time in Jinlintai so like, I like to think JGy took mercy on him. Maybe they were friends during sunshot. Maybe WN helped JGY out in Qishang. Maybe JGY apologised for what JGS did and had him do to WN. Maybe he was sad that WN wasn't fully cognizant with the nails, because that'one less friendly person to talk to :(
I must give it to you, your brain is bigger than mine bc I didn't really consider that one before. But that's mostly bc the way my allyao agenda works is that it would take significant interactions MY had with others that he has stablished dynamics with, and run with it (is it really my fault he's connected to so many ppl in this story??). Ningyao may be leaning on crackship territory, but let's see!
It's an interest approach, yeah. I think there's not a lot to be done during the time WN was being held by the Jin, we are never told what happened, but regardless, poor guy was rendered pretty much a mindless beast around that time...
But then again, I don't think timeline would have made it possible for them to interact much before the end of the war either.
Iirc MY went to join the Wen after the fall of Lotus Pier, and by then WQ and her fam had been appointed to the supervisory thingie something, meaning they probably didn't have much contact with Nightless City.
Still, we have little detail of how the war was actually going, especially after JC regained control of Yunmeng. So it could be possible that that made the Wens there retreat back to Qishan??
In any case, it'd be fascinating to see MY interact with perhaps the gentlest Wen. I'd imagine that that fact alone would be a breath of fresh air when you are appointed as chief torturer, especially as the war was approaching its peak and the end was near.
There's still the fact that JGY knew of the prisoners camp, where he must have known WN was. He had just been acknowledged by his father, so he probably considered not smart to risk getting thrown out so soon idk.
Regardless, always entertaining to have food for thought :D

tanjiro is obviously a really determined kid, nothing really gets in the way of his journey or protecting his friends and nezuko
but i like to think that he has plenty of lovey dovey fantasies, sleeping beauty and cinderella type of thing where he thinks everyone is destined for love and that if you wish for it enough, it will come to you
but he can also be very oblivious so as much as he believes in soulmates, you would have to slap him across the face (though why would you do that?) for him to realize he was looking at the future love of his life
he's still a kid so the idea of love is very innocent to him and thats why i love him <3 but he can't really tell anyone about all of his daydreaming because zenitsu would give him a hard time and inosuke would laugh in his face
but tanjirou most definitely can't stop for too long in the places where he's assigned missions in (he wants to explore, he's naturally curious like that!) so in turn, he doesn't really have the time to fall in love or even have a crush
maybe one day he stops in a city or town, there's a festival going on and he's trying to get past all the crowds of people to get out of the city and get to his next mission
and maybe it's the cliche of you running away from someone (probably a bully) and you run into tanjirou and immediately scramble to hide behind him and beg him to help you, you'll do anything!
so now he has no choice but to give you a hand (he'd think about it for days if he didn't) and once he convinces the person to leave, you're on your hands and knees thanking him as he tries to reassure that it was his pleasure
"let me buy you a meal! it's the least i can do!" you say with a grateful smile; you don't give tanjiro time to respond as you take his hand and lead him to some food stands just a few feet away
from there, you treat tanjirou to more than just a meal, but snacks and even some local activities (im not japanese guys but i know there are plenty of super fun stuff to do)
once you actually look at him, you feel grateful that you stopped him when you did: his kind smile had you pleasantly staring at him, the way he would fluster so easily when you would compliment him, and just how overall nice he was for seemingly no reason
by the time you knew it, the streets were becoming quieter and less crowded and the night was cooling down but neither you or tanjirou had tried to stop talking
"oh, are you cold? here, you can take my haori." tanjirou says with a smile; how he had noticed the way you rubbed your hands over your arms made you flush a bit and even more so when he places the haori over your shoulders
it was warm with a soft scent you couldn't recognize on it but it wasn't necessarily unwelcome. a smile stretches onto your face before you look up at him; "aren't I supposed to be treating YOU? you must be hard to date, tanjirou." you tease, wrapping the haori over yourself a bit more as you nudge his arm
"ah, i couldn't let you spoil me like that, that would be selfish of me. i'm just as happy seeing you comfortable." he says with what you were learning was a signature smile
at that, you stop walking as a small laugh bubbles out of you which in turn makes tanjirou stop, a confused smile on his face as he looks at you; "what's so funny? did i say something?" he says as you start to step toward him
"nothing. you're just unreal, tanjirou. just perfect." you say, biting your lip to hide the growing smile on your face when you see a slight red on his cheeks now
of course, he immediately turns away and offers to walk you home, making up the excuse that he had somewhere to be the next morning; "not that i don't want to hang out, but it's pretty late! i don't think we should be out for much longer." tanjirou says when you tease him about wanting to get rid of you
once at your door, tanjirou bids you a good night but doesn't ask for his haori or move away: just stands there and looks around as you shift on your feet
"is the haori keeping you warm? it always helps me."
"yes, thank you."
silence again until tanjirou clears his throat, the way red starts crawling up his neck making you tilt your head with a smile on your face
"if you're going to ask for my hand in marriage, tanjirou kamado, the answer is we are teenagers." you say, laughing when tanjirou's face turns a bright red before he starts to ramble about how those weren't his intentions
you finally get him to calm down, hand touching his arm as you squeeze it; tanjirou stands a little bit straigher when you do that, averting his eyes to the ground and mumbling an apology for losing his temper
"i need to go. but come and find me if you pass through here again. i'd be more than happy to treat you again." you say, earning a smile from tanjirou before, all in one motion, you take a step forward and kiss him on the cheek, disappearing into your home
tanjirou stands in shock with his hands hanging uselessly in the air before he realizes: he never got his haori back. he'd have to come back tomorrow. and get it. and see you.
mumbling to himself, he walks away from where you had just left him, cupping his cheek as a gentle smile starts to grow on his face
alerted by the noise and movement (and the fact that it was very late at night), nezuko pokes her head out of her box and looks to her brother who perks up at his sister's presence
"sorry about all the noise! we'll go somewhere quieter soon." tanjirou says, smiling at his sister before he stops to let her leave the box
she looks towards the spot where she had felt the presence of another person before looking at tanjirou, pointing towards the house; her brother's face flushes a bit as he looks everywhere but at her, waving her off with a nervous smile
"ah, i just...made a friend is all, don't worry about it! we should go now!" tanjirou says with a smile on his face as he takes nezuko's hand and starts to lead her away, already planning the next day with you; and totally only to get his haori back

in all seriousness, i love this show so far, such a good story and super cute characters (except for muzan, i hate that guy but i want him so bad) but i have yet to read the manga so bear with me here!

Thinking about childlike faith
We had our Vacation Bible School summary at church today (basically a video with a narrator telling what the kiddies learned while they do a slideshow of the kids acting out the events) and the feels just kind of got me so
It struck me that like... the Passion week story (Palm Sunday through Crucifixion (and resurrection) )... it is Not For Kids. Like, even dumbing it down to the softest words, we still tell kids about Jesus being beaten, nailed to a cross, and dying. Like we just say that to kids. And they have NO FREAKING CLUE just HOW horrific it all was. How dehumanizing and agonizing, like, I can say to this audience, the level of "whump" and "angst" in this story would require SO MANY content warnings. But I mean, they're kids, they don't actually get it, so like, it's fine. Their takeaway is that people were really mean to Jesus and He died and its sad, but then its all ok again bc He rose, so yay!
Whereas for us adults, like... We Know. We KNOW, we have the history, we have the unedited version, we have the reference points for pain and some amount of medical knowledge to process the basically un-tellable... I don't have a word for it, but torture ig? There's a VERY small subset of people I know who can actually stomach a Good Friday service, and I have never even tried to go, personally, bc I know DANG well I would probably have a breakdown.
AND YET
We as adults, knowing EVERYTHING, knowing that you have to really, REALLY, unconditionally and unalterably Love Someone to be WILLING to go through all of THAT. WE'RE the ones who doubt it. We're the ones who can't believe it, who say it isn't so, not us, not ME, not that much.
But these kids, they DO believe it. They 100% totally are on board with the idea that Jesus did it for THEM, yes, absolutely, why would we think otherwise?
And it just floors me. Like they have absolutely no concept of how ugly the reality was, how deeply you have to care for someone to do that, and yet they have no doubt. While me and other adults sit there and flinch at every verse and STILL say no, no love is strong enough to love ME.
One more reason I wish I could be a kid again, i guess

🤥 - Are they a good liar? Do they have tells to show they’re lying?
Evelyn: British people never lie!! but seriously though, she hardly ever lies so it would be PAINFULLY obvious. I think she’d probably just look too intensely at their face and give it away but looking guilty asf.
Sam: YES. He is such a good liar that no one EVER suspects him of doing any wrong. He lies so gracefully without slipping up that the only way someone could catch him is if A.) They fact check him horrendously. B.) Someone else denies his alibi. C.) Riley is the one asking questions. cause let me tell you. HE’S ON HIS KNEES FOR RILEY. HE WILL FAIL TO LIE TO HER.
Lucian: eerrmm…he’s so painfully blunt that I can hardly imagine him ever lying but if he did, I think he’d give it away by giggling a lot. Like he won’t be able to take himself seriously and probably just give up 💀 - This doesn’t include the times he lies about his home life, he’s very shaky and obvious then too.
Thomas: You will NEVER know when he’s lying or telling the truth. NEVER. He’s so full of shit that it’s hard to decipher whenever he’s being honest even a little. This is because he ties his lies in with lots of truth and tricks people into believing his dumbass information. Seriously though, he’s scary good at it. The only teller I would say is if he has his hands tucked behind his back. Even then though, he might be saying some truthful shit combined with it.
👻 - Do they believe in ghosts? Why or why not? Ghostly experiences?
Evelyn: I’d like to believe she does. Not because she had any experience with the paranormal, but because she has hope that her family still lingers around her home to keep her company. :(
Sam: Yes. His mother talks about seeing ghosts way more often than he’s comfortable with. And of course, that’s his mama, he’ll always believe what she tells him. (Even if he cries afterwards.)
Lucian: Sadly, he gave up on that a long time ago. He used to believe in ghosts for the sole reason of wanting to pretend his papa was still with him, but nevertheless, he realized he was simply talking to walls every night.
Thomas: LMAO-no? He’s not sentimental at all. He personally likes to think that everyone who dies just disappears and never comes back. Because if they did, he’d have to fist fight at least 200 zombies.
💥 - What emotions do they have trouble dealing with?
Evelyn: Anxiety, anger, and disgust. Whenever these things combine, she has a mental breakdown and starts her way on a killing spree!! (Violet NEEDS to get her a leash for whenever that happens.)
Sam: Jealousy and obsession. When he feels his jealousy urges, someone will end up in his basement, never to see the light of day again. When he feels his obsessive urges, he’ll end up in Riley’s closet watching her every move. Mix them together and…haha. OFC SADNESS TOO BC HE’S CONSTANTLY CRYING BUT-
Lucian: Sadness. It’s almost impossible to have a deep conversation with Lucian without having him tear up just a little bit. Even if its far in the past, he won’t hesitate to shed a few tears for whoever he speaks to. Mention any of HIS past and he WILL cry. There’s no helping that.
Thomas: Rejection. Thomas. cannot. handle. rejection. Even if it’s not really an “emotion,” that’s the only thing I could think of that he can’t control his anger with. This rejection always leads to blackmail, to kidnapping, to torture, to arson, and it’ll keep going until whoever denied him begs for mercy.
🍰 - Favorite cake flavor? Are they specific about types of cakes?
Evelyn: Vanilla!! She loves any cake that Violet bakes for her! <3
Sam: Chocolate!! Preferably as much chocolate as possible.
Lucian: Strawberry!! He loves cheesecake and shortcake <3
Thomas: Chocolate!! He doesn’t care about desserts much but if anything, it has to be chocolate.
🍁 - What’s their favorite season? Why?
Evelyn: Spring. She hates winter and summer because they’re too extreme with the weather, so spring is a balanced season for her.
Sam: Fall. He loves Halloween, the pumpkins, the fallen leaves, the crisp air, all of it. Just the feel of fall makes him happier than anything else.
Lucian: SUMMER!! Not only is it nice outside, but he doesn’t have school!! Also, he gets to spend tons of time with Kai whenever Ryan is away for work. (and the amount of sleepovers they have is crazy.)
Thomas: Winter. He’s a firebug, so he wants everything to be warm and cozy in his house. Also, he loves throwing snowballs at the back of innocent bystanders heads with his lame friends.
💗 - What gets their heart racing?
Evelyn: Her girlfriend ofc…💚! She doesn’t let anyone else touch her except for Violet, so whenever they have skin contact, her heart races out of her chest. It’s the best feelings in the world for her to have. <3
Sam: RILEY MORGAN. Everything about her just makes him swoon. He particularly loves whenever she takes control of the situation and starts making him feel like the guy being stalked. Anything with her being as obsessed as he is, his heart is rattling. <3
Lucian: A lot of things Kai does makes his heart POUND. He loves it when Kai steals his clothes, he loves it when Kai kisses his knuckles, he loves it when Kai tries his hardest to impress him by writing/reading, he loves it when Kai-…he just loves Kai. <3
Thomas: women (optional) - but in all seriousness, when someone denies him. I KNOW I SAID HE DOESN’T LIKE REJECTION BUT THAT’S THE POINT. He loves it and hates it at the same time. Like, who’s gonna deny Mr. Valedictorian? Mr. Popular guy? Mr. Rich guy? Mr. Big dick-ok maybe that’s a bit MUCH but you get my point. So, yeah. He gets off to that. <3

you are just trying to completely trying to isolate sokka arent you?
Like its zukos turn to get some type of emotional support (even if it is by iroh 🙄😒) but atleast its there. But Sokka is just pushing everyone away.
i mean i dont blame him for lying, i probably would to in this situation.
and i dont think either of them are in the wrong this chapter, like i think they both have every right to be as angry as they were in this chapter (esp sokka bc katara is acting a tad bit shady)
surprisingly i dont want to strangle iroh this chapter. so that was a weird expierience (actually semi enjoying reading him)

you always do such a good job at capturing trauma and the effects of it. also the longevity of it. like as much as i hate reading sokkas slow descent into madness its also very nice and i love it. and as much as i hate seeing zuko tortured over and over and over and over again (leave him alone jfc) its war and its accurate for a prince that got turned over into the wrong hands (of course, who at this point is the right hands for him at this point since sokkas a litttle bit insane and ozais obiously a douche bad and irohs a twit). (i feel like your really trying to push the whole 'iroh is the best thing for zuko rn' thing and while i very reluctently agree, i still dont like iroh. he'll never get my approval).

I was just thinking how a Ketterdam and Gotham crossover/mashup has so many possibilities! I haven't really seen much tho so here are some thoughts.
I picture it as slightly more Gotham, set in the modern (ish) world but also having the political systems and gangs of the Barrel mixed in. The grisha would still have the categories of powers that they do in the grishaverse but less organized, basically considered a subset of meta (my head is currently full of stress so sorry for any and all lore mistakes I make!).
So there's beginning SoC Kaz with the Crows and he hears right away when there's a certain up an coming crime lord in town. Kaz wants to get his revenge on Pekka Rollins but there's the issue of his debt and how many gang leaders don't take him seriously because he's young and walks with a cane. After gathering more info and concocting some convoluted plan that has 43 steps and 15 backups he meets with the Red Hood to see if they can come to a mutually beneficial agreement as Kaz has tabs on pretty much everything in Ketterdam and all the political gang stuff that goes on. He also has PLANS that I'm pretty sure Jason would disrupt and Kaz is gonna do his best to integrate him into those plans while also maybe helping direct him in what he should be doing for optimal takeover.
Like if Kaz has the firepower of the Red Hood to add to his plans? Absolutely terrifying. Ofc there would be interpersonal conflict but that's like half the fun, the character dynamics possibilities are endless! I was thinking that the generally fanon accepted rules that Jason has (I'm more familiar with SoC canon and am more fuzzy on dc details so apologies) like regulating the drug trade, protecting sex workers, etc and strict enforcement of those rules are all things that Kaz wouldn't mind AND if Jason took down Tante Heleen's Menagerie? That would be a great scene for after everyone has started working together and taking over, maybe Jason doesn't know Inej's history but he can probably guess and offers to torture Tante Heleen for her (do I hate Heleen? Yes I do) wether or not he does Tante Heleen won't be conducting her business ever again.
I think that Kaz could definitely spruce up Jason's ten step revenge plot but how idk. For real tho, Kaz's lack of experience is one of the few things holding him back, when he's older? Even just late twenties, it'll be over for everyone lol.
The Barrel seems Crime Alley adjacent so those can be smashed together (would that make Kaz from Metropolis?? Lol but nah probably some farming state)
Omg what if Dick is Inej's brother? Doesn't really fit I think but just an idea. That'd be so freaking sad tho, she's gonna search for her parents and not know they're dead :(
Batman does batman stuff I guess, I didn't really care about him when I was thinking of this crossover but there could be interesting ideas for him. I feel like there's so much going on in Ketterdam/Gotham (Gothdam?lol) that he'd be run ragged and honestly I'd understand him barely putting even a dent in crime there. I'd still have Duke be a meta as opposed to a grisha mostly bc he's closest to a sun summoner and I'm not a fan of the Shadow and Bone books. Damian should definitely have his metal spine, maybe he's a Fabrikator or got that spine put in by one. Steph might be on the very fringes of Crows activity, I really like when her and Jason are besties in fics bc I feel like they have the least amount of baggage/history and have similar backgrounds so its easier if u want to ease him into the batfam one person at a time. Not that I've decided if that's what's happening here but anyways. I'll have more later, ttfn and please take any of this and run with it! Imma tag this thing Gothdam au.

No, you're so real. Steve literally got the short end of the stick ever since s3 when ST writers decided to dumb him down for the sake of it, and even the fandom ran with it. It's so annoying because for me, s3 Steve feels like such a completely new character, like yeah he looked cute in the sailor costume, but that's it. Him not knowing any movies or just saying dumb things unprompted for laughs is not like how s1/2 Steve acted. It's insane how he's only allowed to feel sad about his love life, but not about his (physical) trauma he has to endure every season. Him getting tortured for jokes will never not sit right with me, especially because we are supposed to feel bad for Hopper in the same breath. And now Eddie, someone we know for less than a year gets everything? We don't even know Steve's parents. I mean I don't care about books bc tbh I feel like they would fuck this up. Like they would probably do something about Stancy while not even diving into any trauma, so I'm okay with that. Honestly, I only trust a few selective people in the fandom with Steve's character. The official writers will never get him like us do. Sorry for this rant, but the book was also kinda my last straw, nothing against Eddie and his stans I know the majority of them aren't happy with it as well.
SAY THAT!!!!!! i do love s3 steve but yeah its whiplash man. in s1 and s2 he’s GOOFY but he has a very serious side to him, too. he jumps into action but still errs on the side of caution. he’s sure of himself and a bit arrogant but also humble and selfless enough to let go of nancy and know when he’s fucked up. s3 steve was just a silly billy (affectionate) and i do like that he was able to pick up on things that robin and dustin missed (like the song in the recording)! but overall his vibe was much goofier than s1 and 2. then we go back to the mainly serious and humble and selfless steve who is just trying to find his way. he’s very much a lover and i think that’s been consistent, but it’s irritating that they kind of summed his character down to nancy simp (aren’t we all) in s4. and it’s not even just a steve issue, it’s an every character issue! there’s so much back and forth it’s almost difficult to get ANY of these characters consistent and right in fanon.
ANYWAY. i really wish they hadn’t lost their way with steve. i wish they kept building on him and we could watch him grow into a young adult that was forced to grow up too fast with absent parents and his trauma. and i wish they’d delve into it more. i like steve being one of those characters that has to stay strong for others, but his scene with robin in s4 could have been a lot more emotional and fleshed out. where are his parents when he comes home fucked up? what does he do when he can’t sleep? why doesn’t he cry, even around people he trusts? there’s so much they could get into. but to be fair i think they sweep a lot of character’s trauma under the rug - which i understand bc narratively they need to focus on more, but i’m a lil tired of the “only hopper, el, and will have dealt with trauma” angle

i kind of guessed that han jiwoo was probably lonely in this conflict he was having but i never actually thought he'd admit it out loud, let alone to seo joon.
i am totally self projecting here, bc sometimes i get these bouts of depression, when it happens i prefer to run back to my hometown/my parents' house who obviously make it worse/trigger it instead of letting my friends in who are aware of it, are good to me, provide safe space to fall out if i need to. it took me a long time to come up with an explanation why i did that. idk if it'll make sense, bear with me: it's bc sadness is comfortable. when you're sad and already at the bottom there are nowhere else for you to go, if you know what i mean. everything is familiar there even if that's actually bad for you. it's like when you let go and go along with the flow instead of swimming against the current. accepting those things which are good for you is like swimming against current, it's unknown and honestly exhausting. i always thought it was just me who's prone to this self torture.
in that moment it clicked for me. jiwoo choosing to leave seoul & seo joon for a place where people are unwelcoming to him (to say the least), running a restaurant no one comes to, its hurtful but at least it's familiar. he's used to this, he expects this, he's in his element. so it doesn't bother him just as much as staying does. we'd rather be lonely where we're hated than somewhere we're celebrated. no, we don't make sense.

Hey Red, what actually happened with Eri in TLWA?
*platonically kisses your forehead and brushes back your hair* Lox always coming through for me.
Just a general FYI that I have So Much Background Lore on TLWA verse and will gleefully talk about it at anytime to anyone who shows the slightest interest.
Anyway! I made the decision early on in planning that the Raid arc would fail. The Shie Hassaikai arc was maybe hmm 1-2 months following All Might's (at the time not publicly known) death. Only a dozen people know AM is dead and a handful know about OFA and Izuku being its intended successor. Nighteye reacts to the death poorly and takes it out on Izuku who is NOT invited to his agency. Not to get sidetracked but I also really liked how that disagreement unfurled with Mirio finding out that Nighteye had been grooming him to replace AM and was unhappy Mido was chosen instead. This is what leads to Mirio leaving Nighteye's agency and developing a close, almost brotherly bond with Izuku.
Anywayyy, I needed Nighteye to fail to demonstrate the difference btw him and Izuku in Toshinori's life. Thus, Eri and Chisake get away. It's the first of a many unsuccessful jobs by Nighteye who has lost the heart for it but also, he didn't adapt to the loss of AM, couldn't see the world changing beyond his hero. He retired in disgrace not long after Izuku is named Symbol of Peace in Rise Up.
Gosh I keep getting sidetracked, Eri stayed with Chisake a few more, miserable, painful years. It sad and tragic but Eri eventually learns no one is going to save her so she has to save herself. It takes planning and perfect timing but one day, when Chisake was torturing her as always, he slipped and she was able to permanently rewind him. She flees. In the meantime, Chisake was now devoted all of his time to the quirk destroying bullets recognizing it as the game changer they are. There's now thousands of vials but, with the primary ingredient (Eri) gone, its now a limited supply. A bunch of ineffective, temporary knockoffs flood the market.
Eri is probably about 8ish? And lives rough for a while, she is forced to use her quirk just to survive and stay out of enemy hands. She is eventually taken in by a group of runaway/abandoned kids who band together and protect each other. It was there, through trial, error and practice she finally gets her quirk under control. She is used at first to run chores, to being the distraction as the cute kid to full on participating in petty theft and such to stay alive. She still fears the retribution of the 8 Precepts and doesn't want to go public so she stays in the underground.
She grows up, stronger and more confident but also bitter and jaded that no one helped her. She's against heroes, not in a villain way but in a 'they can't really help anyway'. In between her small crimes, she does little acts of vigilantism here and there, bc she can't stand to see someone mistreated in front of her, will not ignore suffering. On one of these bursts, she runs into the hero Deku, who's just opened his own agency. Queue a messy, several year long back and forth where Izuku tries to help her and she refuses it, untrusting of his intentions.
But she pays attention to the work he does, how he treats people. He even encourages her vigilantism by giving her info on things he legally can't meddle with. She doesn't quite trust him but she does respect him. She is an angry stray cat he can occasionally get to take a few scraps of love out of his hand. He offered her numerous times to get her legally in the system, to foster her and she never can never accept. She is happy, acting in her own capacity for herself. Just knowing that there are heroes out there like him, it gives her a bit more faith in people. She is happy and fiercely loyal to her people. Maybe someday, she'll want the stability of a normal life but for now, answering to no one and working through her own anger and grief through saving others is what she needs.
Her reputation grows, quietly and under the radar as a silent but incredibly effective vigilante who works the areas no one else does. The police are baffled, Deku has no comment on the matter but he does know this teen who is really kind and really powerful who wishes he had been able to save. But in the end while it wasn't okay, she survived and saved her. And now she's doing the same to other lost boys and girls.

Who do you think has a sadder or badder past in dreamswap cast (minus dream) cuz blue was physically abused by his brother barely escaping the anti-void causing him to have a fear of becoming a glitch, cross was actually not a real person and being rewritten multiple times cuz of a bored wattpad writer(Xgaster) and accidentally destroying his universe, error having so much trauma that he is suffers from amnesia, ani having most of their life in a hospital bed, hacker getting kidnapped by a criminal group and getting framed for murder, Bobby was from a sacrificial cult, finch in his au was 1900's means he was living in a middle of a war and having a family who didn't like he was trans, randy coming from a nightmare dimension and was trying to help people and being the only survivor of his world, ink becoming a weapon at a very young age, and nightmare trying to survive for the past century because of a stupid idea of thinking that negativity is bad even though its actually good for the wellbeing only having kevin and probably did something's to survive
in my opinion Out of them hacker has a less bad/sad past
I mean, a lot of that is pretty damn sad, ngl. I do have some headcanons about these, being that Nightmare also suffered from a lot of childhood trauma thanks to Faith, that Cross saw his own friends and family crumble into dust, and Ink basically being tortured and all that shit, so I think those three definitely have the worst of the worst. Error is a close second though, considering Blue, and considering Blue, physical violence is pretty OUCH.
I never heard that about Finch, but I guess I can incorporate his canon AU stuff with his OG version, where he's basically stuck in a half-dead half-alive state and he's unknown completely by his family, but Bobby basically being born a lamb made for slaughter definitely could come with a lot of bad things, especially if (as I headcanon) he was born with schizophrenia, which can be a hell in a handbasket if not treated, either with therapy or medication or things like that.
