I was asked recently why I disliked yashahime. It made me list many many reasons. Most important being the ruining of Inuyashas perfect ending.
To clarify, I don't have strong opinions on SessRin. Mainly because it was not portrayed as romantic in Inuyasha, and ended with rin being raised by Kaede. I do have a problem with how it was portrayed though.
If Rin was going to be romantically involved with Seshomaru, any kids they had should have been significantly younger than kagome and inuyashas kids.
Flashbacks of their relationship changing should have also been present. You can't just have a man become involved with someone he took care of as a child without massive change.
Rin should have plenty of development of said change. She should be expanded upon in a way that she feels like the same character grown up. This is a young girl who was consistently compared to Kagome, who no doubt was cared for by Kagome, and your going to tell me she's just a helpless damsel that had to be sealed in a tree? Sorry no.
Even with that, I still am not fond of SessRin. I think it's a weird ship tbh.
Also Kagome and Imuyasha allowing themselves to be trapped for over a decade was stupid. Sango and Miroku would have saved them if they didn't manage to escape by themselves.
The idea that Koga would raise the inukag kid is stupid. Sango and Miroku would raise the inukag kid. Period.
The sacred jewel prophecy thing was stupid
In no way would Seshomaru ever not just kill someone he deemed a threat.
Point being, sequels that try to exist by ruining characters from the existing show bug me.

Daemyra = I support pedophilia, grooming and physical abuse.
Zutara = I support colonizer x colonized relations.
Sylki = I support incest with oneself.
Charlastor / Radiobelle = I erase the canonical sexuality of the characters.
Reylo = I support the Nazis !
Darklina / Alarkling = I support a pedophile, a groomer, a pro-genocide and child killer in his spare time.
Sareth = I support pedophilia !
Sessrin / Sesshrin = I support pedophilia, and grooming.
Persades = I support kidnapping, rape and forced marriages.
Wyler / Weyler = I support psychopathic serial killers ! And grooming too ! (Because apparently for some Tyler is an adult and not a teenager as he is canonically in the series...)
This is usually what I get insulted about for loving these relationships... and it's just bullshit.
Daemyra is not grooming and pedophilia, book and show, I have already explained countless times why and I won't do it again here. And Daemon do not abuse physically Rhaenyra in Fire and Blood.
Zutara is not a relationship of a colonizer with a colonized person. Zuko himself is not a colonizer and the people of Katara were never colonized by the Fire Nation.
Sylki is not a true incestuous relationship, especially not with yourself. Sylki is not shown and characterized as truly the same person but as different people with the same role in the universe.
I'm not erasing the canonical sexuality of Charlastor / Radiobelle by shipping them into the context of fanon.
Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is not a Nazi, I also already explained why. Essentially he has no ideology of his own and has been manipulated since his fetus by hearing voices in his head 24/7 again today, and above all the defenders against grooming keep quiet this time ironically, since Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is actually a victim of grooming by Snoke / Palpatine.
The Darkling has not committed any genocide, he is not a pedophile or a groomer either and is even less a killer of childs specifically...
For Sareth basically... Everything that happens in the movie is essentially a representation of the desires / fantasies of teenage Sarah. Jareth is the reflection of her dreams, he literally acts according to her. He is the product of his fantasy. Please note, I'm not saying that what Sarah experiences in the film is literally a dream. No, I'm saying that the film, through its story and especially the character of Sarah, is in a way a representation of the adolescent's desire / dreams, and also a bit of hormones / sexual awakening. Without forgetting the fact of accepting to grow. That's why everything in the maze is in Sarah's room. That's why Jareth's universe is in this book, and also why the way to defeat Jareth there is. This is why Jareth is “in love” with Sarah. That's why he looks like a walking sexual fantasy with his tights on. Why there is a snake, a cane. Why does everyone at the ball wear masks with horns and long noses (= just falic / sexual symbols) Brief. There's nothing wrong with shipping Jareth with Sarah, since he's literally her personal fantasy and he's acting on that. (in the sense that he takes the role she gives him in the story)
Sessrin / Sesshrin is also not a relationship based on pedophilia. Sesshomaru clearly didn't feel anything romantic or sexual about Rin when she was a child. As for the accusations of grooming, they are unfounded because there is no proof. The fact that Rin gave birth to twins at 18 is not proof of this. Inuyasha takes place in the feudal era where a girl under 18 is seen as an adult. Essentially, Sesshomaru simply fell in love with Rin as she grew up. And he came to see her from time to time from the moment he left it with Kaede as a child. He was not responsible for her education. That was Kaede. He wasn't her father figure either, that was Jaken.
And Hades and Persephone must be read in the context of the time when the myth was written, otherwise you lose its true meaning. I have already reblogged excellent analyzes on the subject, I invite you to go and see them. Hades, essentially, is not the true villain in this myth.
No. I don't support psychopathic serial killers. The proof, I hate Laurel. The real psychopathic serial killer. Tyler is a teenager who she manipulated and enslaved for her cause. Literally, Tyler is a hyde, implying a personality disorder, but more than that, canonically, he must obey and approve of what his master does. Tyler is a victim. Not a bad guy. Moreover, once again, a real case of grooming under the arms. Yes, Laurel groomed Tyler, I've written lots of articles on this subject, you can go and see them. But once again, ironically, no one talks about it, and what's more, the antis will try to say that Tyler groomed Wednesday by inventing a new age for him...

SessRin in Volume 1 of the Yashahime Manga
The first volume of the official English release of the manga is out and Sesshomaru is in lurve
Tumblr media
I know a lot of people consider the manga to be superior to the anime but until Shiina gives us a scene of Inuyasha laughing at and/or giving Sesshomaru hell for this, I will be reserving judgement on that
Tumblr media
Look, I know I’ve already posted these exact panels several times at this point but I will never get tired of them
My babies are being romantic af. Having clandestine meetings alone in a dreamy sunlit forest.
“Rin grew into a beautiful woman”
Seriously, just a brilliantly simple repudiation to everyone who wants Rin to remain an eternal child and never ever be allowed to grow up. Meloncita is adult woman certified now and ready to make the most powerful daiyokai in the feudal era fall crazy in love with her
You get that Okugata-dono status, Rin-chan. You deserve it
And can we talk about the most important detail of all:
Sesshomaru’s hand
Caressing her face
*Dies*
Tumblr media
Kaede 100% knew about the secret forest dates
Inuyasha, why are you just sitting there? Go make fun of your brother!
Tumblr media
Even Kagome is inspired by how romantic Sesshomaru and Rin are being
Tumblr media
Anyway, smash cut to babies
Congratulations, it’s twins!
Tumblr media
Sesshomaru is pleased
(Sorry, but the MST3k fan in me refuses to hear Jaken’s line about “The Master” in anything but Torgo’s voice from Manos: The Hands of Fate)
I wonder what kind of gifts Sesshomaru sent? Knowing him, it was probably kimonos. Lots and lots of kimonos
You know Rin probably secretly wishes he would give her melons instead though. Like, she doesn’t have the heart to tell him but every time Sessh rolls up with a shiny new package she utters a tiny prayer to the gods of gourd and then its just. More. Kimonos.
Tumblr media
Chapter 3:
Family Portrait Time!
Tumblr media
God, Sesshomaru saying “our daughters” to Rin
Right in my feels. Right in my feels
Tumblr media
Look at him, poor baby. He wants his waifu back so badly
Ken Narita said in an interview that Rin is Sesshomaru’s heart and since Rin has been sealed inside that tree Sesshomaru is just a man without his heart

Not to start anything but to clear up your post- it is currently true. The number of famworks that sessrin has is several hundred more fanart submissions on pixiv (one of the main ways to judge a ship's popularity in Japanese fandom) than inukag, and its just... a really popular ship in the Japanese fandom in general. Inukag will orobably retake it over time, but there is more sessrin JP fanart and content in general at the present moment than inukag. Even when inukag eventually retakes it, it'll probably stay at the #2 spot, or maybe #3.
Someone who knows more about this than me might chime in, but I guess that because Yashahime and sessrib being made "official" happened so recently, it only makes sense that it caused a surge of fanarts and vocal fans in general. That, and considering Yashahime made Rin the mom but still gave her and Sesshomaru barely any romance and next to no promotion of the two as a couple, fans have to resort to fanarts to make up for it and actually enjoy any "content" of them 🤷 A problem inukag never had, lol.

ty tumblr for deleting one of my blogs for no reason but i was able to find the text
THIS SCENE WITH RIN IS. SOOOOOO FUCKING FRUSTRATING BC ITS CLEAR WHAT THEY -MEANT- TO DO BUT BOTCHED IT HORRIBLY
i’m copying and pasting this but
so i think this is like. Rin’s second most controversial scene in this entire anime. literally only episode 15 and the fandom war that followed that’s STILL raging to this day can possibly compare, but holy shit nothing else Rin does makes as much discourse as this scene because this one has both people who hate sessrin and people who love sessrin coming togethee to say “hey what the fuck-”
Tumblr media
this is such a weird scene because i feel like. it is simultaneously misunderstood while also really deservedly called out on how it makes Rin look almost borderline sociopathic regarding the fact she’s talking to her kids about the fact things are literally always gonna kill them and i feel like this is a great example of “there are almost two separate characters named Rin in this show” and this one is endemic of like, a kid that never grew up, the one I don’t really like.
so it’s like this
i UNDERSTAND what this scene is meant to convey. that she’s not afraid because she knows her kids are always gonna come out on top.
the fact is: being Towa and Setsuna kinda sucks and it’s always gonna kinda suck even if things are better now. i’ve talked about how much i LOVE when Jakan refers to them as “Rin’s daughters” and not “Sesshomaru’s daughters,” but the fact is to the world at large outside of their social circles- until they build up their own legends properly, they’ll always primarily be “Someone’s” daughters, and more specifically “Sesshomaru’s daughters.”
there’s always gonna be an entire conga line of pissant demons that are gonna wanna take a shot at them for the sole reason that it’ll give them clout. in Final Act Jaken noted that a lot of demons wanted to take on Sesshomaru when he had no sword because even though he was in a severely weakened state with no weapon it’d STILL give them recognition if they killed him. killing his kids give them clout in some capacity. and even if they weren’t his kids, they’re still hanyou- free game to kill for fun and laughs.
so this scene. like.
the intent to me is clearly that she’s this relaxed because she knows there’s nothing they can’t overcome. there’s no need for Rin to be afraid or show fear because they’ll be safe. i truly believe that’s what this scene is meant to convey- laughing at the very concept that Towa and Setsuna can’t overcome an enemy that would challenge them- they’re their fathers kids, her beautiful and beloved children who along with moroha literally saved the entire world twice, once in the modern era and now in the sengoku jidai.
so this scene is mean to be her laughing it off and showing joy despite the macabre subject matter. i totally get it, and i think because of that, i’m less harsh on this scene than some others are. but also.
JESUS CHRIST, RIN
look at her! she looks like she’s a cheerleader at an event or something! it looks joyful! if i was Towa i’d be fucking disturbed beyond words!!! like hey, you just saved the world twice, you had to have a tearful and sad goodbye with your adoptive family maybe forever- and THIS is how your mom talks about things always trying to kill you!? i’d probably ask Moroha, Kagome, and Inuyasha if I could crash at their place for a few days while trying to figure out what the FUCK is my mom’s deal!
“hey moroha uh. my mom kinda… cheered and laughed when talking about things wanting to kill me? think i can like. crash here for a few days or something? think the old guy who gives you bounties would let me stay at his place a few days if i agree to do some work for him?”
like. here’s how i think it should’ve been. and i’m just one western fan with no stakes in anything but like… i kind of imagine something that would’ve been significantly less controversial would’ve been her still smiling at the beginning when giving them gifts, and then her expression getting more serious when talking about the unpleasant stuff, like this:
Tumblr media
and putting on like, a serious face about it. because yeah, it sucks. they can’t JUST live in peace. there’s always gonna be these assholes that are always gonna try to kill them. just because the most dangerous conflict (God willing) in Kirinmaru and the Grim Comet has ended doesn’t mean there won’t be danger- they’re going to be in danger for literally the rest of their lives, and she gets serious when talking about that to her only kids…
Tumblr media
… but they’re both gonna be ok. she smiles again when expressing that. we’re not gonna pretend it doesn’t fucking suck. but they’re always gonna be ok. she has nothing less than complete confidence that they’re always gonna rise above and against everything that tries to harm them. she’s not fucking borderline cheering about it, but she has so much confidence in that, it’s not an opinion to her, it’s a fact.
so she smiles not only knowing her kids are OK, they’re gonna be OK even if things does, but to assure them that they’ll always be ok in the end. at most, there’s a little laugh at it all- “You really are your father’s children, you know? You inherited his power… you’ll be OK no matter what!”
and i feel like that would’ve conveyed what this scene was TRYING To do while also not making Rin seem borderline sociopathic about this fact and treating it like a game little kids are playing or a complete and absolute disregard for her children’s safety just so she can gush about her husband, the husband that Towa literally JUST confided in with her mother that she kind of. resents him a bit for not helping them out (WHICH IF THERE’S A CONTINUATION I WANNA SEE HAPPEN MORE)
i get this scene. i really do. so i’m not as hard on it as others are. but also holy fuck what the FUCK was the animation and voice acting direction with this scene? what the fuck? it would’ve been EASY to make it better!
thank god i found the text its just. SO frustrating bc i LOVE Yashahime, i love Rin so much i don’t CARE what anyone says or even if it’s not that great or anything, its just. i feel like there was a big intent in this scene, but holy shit it was so. bad. it’s executed SO BAD and i can’t get over it
(ALSO ANYONE THAT SAYS TOWA DOESN’T HAVE A RIGHT TO BE KINDA RESENTFUL AT SESSHOMARU CAN FIGHT ME)

Sometimes, when the Trashahime manga (and anime) reminds us that InuKag was seperated from their kid for 14 years, I need to remind myself that none of it is canon and that even the mangaka said it's all just a "what-if". Because when that "lovely" reminder gets thrown out there again, I literally want to rip someone's head off. Preferably the person who came up with that idea in the first place.
I know it's not nearly as bad as the whole sessrin thing, which is absolutely disgusting and deplorable, but it's still upsetting.
There were posts on Twitter showing InuKag fridged in a tree in the YH manga, so that's where this rant is coming from. I hope you don't mind.
That’s a big reason why sequels have to be careful or they’ll fail. It’s all very well to introduce new characters and stories, in fact that’s the point, but there has to be a healthy amount of respect, acknowledgement and involvement of original characters and stories that are what built that love and fame around the series and allowed it to have a sequel in the first place.
Legend of Korra had shaky footing on this, while being a very good show, and as it grew and the characters developed and built on an already beloved world and story, it got more popular. It also didn’t treat its original characters from Avatar the Last Airbender too horribly, while not overusing them. The avatar writers struggled to find a balance and not overestimate themselves.
Boruto just can’t seem to find a good balance. It wrecks its characterisation of its original characters in order to build up the new cast one minute, turns around and forgets all about the new characters to rely on the original characters the next minute, and then slaps a whole bunch of poor filler in the middle. Boruto could be great but it’s obvious Kishimoto no longer has any passion for it.
Every series of JJBA that follows the previous is adapted by people who are obviously passionate about Araki’s work, the same way he himself is. Even when his stories are become more distant from the original saga of the Joestar family, there’s still a lot of respect for his previous instalments in the ongoing story and every part continues to hold up well.
Yashahime failed on every front. It shoved new original characters who were (mostly) barely fleshed out, useless despite having every ability and plot convenience handed to them when need be, and shut away all the original characters that everyone loved so much, such as InuKag and MirSan, even shippo. The exception, for better or worse (mostly worse) was Sesshomaru who was shoved into every mention of this story as possible, the same story that wrecked his characterisation in a way you just can’t come back from.
As you said, InuKag were taken away from their baby for no good reason, and everything they had worked for and the happy ending they tried so hard to achieve was put on hold for FOURTEEN YEARS before they even got to enjoy it. I don’t see anyone talking about his Inuyasha in particular has just spent his entire life suffering, largely because of his father and step brother, and the sequel just doubled down on that. And Kagome got dragged into the mix too for no other reason than simply being married to him.
Who really thought this was going to be a sequel anyone would accept, let alone love? It systematically undoes everything the original series had these characters learn, experience, fight for and earn for themselves. Everyone suffered, everyone came out looking worse, just so the writers could try telling us how marrying kids is totes okay. Pathetic.
If any of y’all ever wonder if you’ll be able to make it in the world with your own story, or if your own content is good enough, stop worrying! Cuz there’s someone out there willing to throw money at literally anything.

Chile I don't why people think that situation concerns u because that shit is DEAD and over with and has been for MONTHS. As to why I think its because fucktrashahime posted u several times in the past few weeks for being a sessrinner and discussing her shitty behavior like she does with others so some automatically think you care about beating a dead horse. So that unfortunately made curious and nosy people come here and on other people's accounts she posted. But FT stopped so everyone else should too and u already expressed your thoughts. If she wants to continue to creep on here so what along as she's not harassing people anymore and as long as people continue to leave her alone as well.
You don't have to respond to the first part just pointing it out that this should be end of lol
Anywho on a lighter note. Do you think Yashahime should get the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood treatment and get an adaptation? I feel like the manga does Yashahime just unlike the anime. Thoughts? i think the manga much better. also would you watch if Yashahime manga got anime of its version? i'm so bummed they didn't even at least make a movie like damn
OMG SO THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT'S WHY TY I WAS SO CURIOUS
i personally don't mind that i was asked and stuff! even if it was a dead horse, i don't mind talking and discussing this stuff, although i -was- caught off guard by receiving more asks about it a few weeks later out of the blue. especially if she was talking about me
ngl i really wish i had seen what she had talked about me now i'm nosy like that
but yeah, the situation seems resolved now- if she deactivated, there's nothing left to care about. i wish her the best, and at the same time the fandom is better without her.
but yeah. original anon if you read this please don't read this as me being mad, but also unless this fandom actually gets NEW content and thus new drama ensures i'm pretty... tapped out on yashahime discourse adf;kljasdf
i rarely even look in the tags anymore (prefer twitter for it) and when i do i'm usually Searching content so i'm less likely to see hate. i think i follow p much every sessrin and pro-yashahime person on tumblr if i can, so that helps a lot- curate your own spaces, ya know?
regardless though... i feel like this entire ordeal is one of MANY shitty chapters in this fandom's history. i hope everything calms down, if only fo ra little bit, soon

i asked about kikyo's age bc in the manga, at the beginning, kikyo does not look particularly older than inuyasha or kagome. At the beginning of manga she looked pretty similar to kagome with straight hair. its in the anime where kikyo looks a lot older and NOTHING like kagome. but manga kikyo initially looked around the same age. i noticed RT began copying things from the anime. like sesshomarus design. the filler ep where jineji says rin/kagome are similar might have led to canonizing sessrin
This is true for projects. Despite all the changes that Rumiko made, it was her decision, but I also wonder if she was just inspired. Well. The similarities to Kagome and Kikyou in appearance are natural, but it's a pity that she changed it, because you could say that they are similar to each other, but even in the manga can't tell by the changed designs.
The only thing Kikyou has in common is love for Inuyasha, which is not hers, but Kikyou's, and the powers that Kagome has, but these are Kikyou's powers, because Kagome is her reincarnation… So looking at it more broadly, Kagome is only connected by Kikyou's soul that she has inside.
the filler ep where jineji says rin/kagome are similar might have led to canonizing sessrin
What?! From what I remember this episode wasn't filling it 100% in the manga ch.112. from what I remember Inuyasha and Kagome were traveling alone. Kagome spent the most time with this half demon when Inuyasha left her to investigate. This half-demon lived with his mother and nothing was heard about Rin. Rin and Kagome weren't compared to each other. Only this half-demon developed romantic feelings for Kagome. He doesn't even know Rin exists.why do you say it's a filler… i don't understand you… As for Rin and SessRin. I don't care about it. And I don't want to talk about it.

I saw a questionnaire thing earlier today and I glanced at it and it said “how have you changed in the past 10 years”
if I look at myself from a strictly tumblr perspective, and especially my ‘fandom’ self, I’ve changed a looooot
like maybe it releases endorphins or some shit like that to get into debates and arguments, but I quite liked doing it back in the day. defending my fave ships or characters or, idk getting into an argument with someone about how Puzzleshipping isn’t canon lmao (I mean I think that even more now after reading the manga). but anyway, at the end of the day, I know it was moooooooostly playful. or something along those lines.
I just got heated about stuff I thought was like, actually serious.
I’d never care to get into an argument about that shit now (I most likely still have the opinions I had, but sure fuck it. like. I’ll post about it to myself. that was the original intention back in the day. but the search bar made even private-ish posts easy to find and argue with you over)
but I had a gander in the sessrin tag.
there’s obviously controversy surrounding that pair. always has been. I... legit get it. from both sides. I get why its hated, I get why its defending. but I was leaning towards one side more than the other.
at the end of the day tho, it aint a fave pair of mine, and I’m just so not bothered hopping in to argue about or defend it :’D
just reblogging some pics and on my way I go

The fact you're all scrambling to twist RT's words already shows how many hoops ur willing to jump thru to justify why a grown man would marry and fuck a child he watched grow up and maybe you should question WHY its so important to you to justify something like that. 🤷‍♀️

your blog is so weird ... the r3pe jokes and now this... you come off super aggressive and angry
Except that this post once again only tells the simple truth. Sorry she makes you uncomfortable.
Move on ?
Also, I don't see how this post makes me sound angry. Oh, and I find it cheeky to criticize a hater of a character for hating a character in his corner on his blog. Once again, I don't piss anyone off by going to their inbox, rather than sending hate messages on other people's blogs.
Also, you act like my blog only talks about Alicent Hightower, when I also talk about Daemon Targaryen, Rhaenyra Targaryen, Daemyra. The Velaryon children / boys. The Black faction. The Greens faction.
And while yes, I also make posts about Alicent and the Greens faction in general, but specifically Aegon II and Aemond, well most of the time the majority of my posts about them are actually responses to people who send me requests, generally Greens stans themselves coming to pour out their venom.
On this blog, I also talk about Grisha with more particularly Darklina / Alarkling and sometimes the ship Malina which I don't like, so tag anti.
I also talk about the phantom of the opera with the ship Erikstine.
I'm talking about the ACOTAR book series by Sarah J Mass through more particularly the ship Elriel with other anti Gwynriel and Elucien posts. I also did posts on the Feysand ship from the main trilogy, and the character of Rhysand.
I'm talking about Zutara from Avatar the Last Airbender, and reblogging some analyzes about them. Also, still in this universe, anti Kataang and anti Maiko posts.
I'm also talking about Doctor Who with particularly Nine, Ten and especially Tentoo and the couple of these 3 incarnations formed with Rose. Sometimes I also talk about the Twelve & Clara relationship.
Recently I started posting about Dune and the character of Paul Atreides, some analyzes of which will eventually come out (as much about him, as his relationship with his mother, or even Chani).
I also talk about Star Wars through Kylo Ren / Ben Solo and Reylo.
I have tons of posts dedicated to the film Crimson Peak, or even Titanic with Rose & Jack. The 1986 film Labyrinth with the ship Sareth also has a few positions.
There is also the case of Harry Potter with the character of Severus Snape and the anti James Potter / Marauders posts.
I also talk about the Wednesday series with the ship Wyler. Lockwood and Co also had quite a few positions.
There is also Bridgerton with the ship Kanthony, Polin, and the future seasons of Bénédict and Francesca which I am impatiently awaiting.
The ship Sessrin too, the books series Red queen with Maven character and the Mareven ship.
Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, with Charlastor / Radiobelle, Lilith character and Lucilith ship and Stolitz and Fizzmodeus ships.
The Tokyo Mew Mew anime and Kishigo ship. And lots of other things, more minor or future ones, notably on book series reminiscent of Darklina ! Brief !
My blog is dedicated to many things, that I love and hate, and not just on Alicent Hightower who according to some would be the ultimate object of my mind that I would be obsessed with.

Another fic for SessRin Week 2022
The idea for this fic came about mostly due to comments made by Rumiko Takahashi in the wideban entry for Rin. She talked about how Rin thought Sesshomaru was divine being when they first met and how her leaving him food was like leaving an offering at an altar. There was also an interview with Ken Narita where he said that the voice he used when Sesshomaru would talk to Rin was like someone calling upon a disciple.
Both of these things put me in mind of the song ”Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode, which is what the title is a reference to.
(I also snuck in a bunch of references to Never Let Me Down Again because I’m a huge nerd like that)
Anyway, this one is kinda angsty but hopefully you enjoy it
Ao3
The nightmares had never gone away completely.
In her dreams, the bandits continued to wreak havoc. Every once in a while her subconscious revives her long-departed family in order for them to act out their tragic fate while Rin once again looks on helplessly.
As a child, the nightmares had played out in a particular way. They began auspiciously; her hardworking, yet cheerful little household going about their business, all alive and together as if nothing had ever happened. The devolution to chaos always came as a shock, a repetition of reality as Rin had lived it.
Her grown up mind had caught on however. She knew they were dead, knew the horror that was coming and an excruciating dread tortures her mind to the inevitable climax. The only relief is that she’s now more likely to awaken before the first blade even falls, before the first scream could be wrenched from her mother’s throat.
In a cold sweat she lay in the dark next to a sleeping Kaede, grateful for the loud snores; her only comfort in the moments after waking from one of these nightmares is the reassuring presence of a peaceful living being. However tonight—as with most such nights as of late—the sleeping priestess was only a balm until her confessor could arrive.
Rin wondered if Sesshomaru’s mind was somehow connected to hers, the way Jaken’s seemed to be connected to his, as if that could explain how the daiyokai could be so in tune to her dreams and nightmares. Perhaps it was a result of his canine nature; she’d always heard that dogs could sense when their owner was in trouble. Something in Rin’s stomach bubbled at the thought of her as Sesshomaru’s owner and she excited herself at the idea that he might agree. Maybe one day, if she were feeling brave, she would jokingly approach the subject with him, in someplace secret when they were alone together.
She turned over on the futon and pressed her fist to her mouth, her other hand coming precipitously close to the apex of her thighs. It was a scent thing, she thought. When you're afraid, you sweat and your scent changes and it alerts them. Maybe that was how Sesshomaru always seemed to know when she was in trouble, how he always came for her just in time, how he always managed to find her no matter how lost she became—
Rin rose from her bed. It was a scorching hot night and in the privacy of the dark home she could let the top of her hadajuban hang off her hips during the slumbering hours. Pulling the garment up over her shoulders for a bare minimum amount of modesty, she made her way out of the tiny dwelling.
Sesshomaru doesn’t disappoint her. Whether by his mind, his nose or some mysterious tug of an invisible string, he’d sensed her distress and came to deliver her from her troubles. A bright, white clad, silver-haired light in the darkness.
“Have the night robbers come for your people again?”
He was on the little bridge that crossed the stream in front of Kaede’s house.
“Rin.”
The way he said her name imbued it with such power. Rin found her body being propelled forward almost as if on its own accord. She wanted to leap into his arms or fall at his feet. Instead she propped herself against his armor, her face pressed between the spikes of his chestplate as she murmured out a faint description of her nocturnal plague.
“Do you think it’ll haunt me forever?” she asked.
She reached down to lace her fingers with his and he responded by sliding his thumb over the taut skin of her hand before reaching up to caress her cheek.
Not waiting for an answer to her first inquiry, she made another. “Can you say my name again?”
Sometimes she felt so unknown.
“Rin,” he said, holding her cheek in his palm.
“Sometimes when I wake up from dreams like that I feel like, like…I’m dead too,” she admitted, “Like nothing is real. As if I was meant to die with them and everything that’s happened since has been death trying to make up for letting me get away.”
“Don’t say silly things like that,” he told her. “You’re never going to die. I, Sesshomaru, would never again allow such a thing to occur.”
“Sesshomaru-sama,” Rin sighed.
“You don’t believe me, Rin?”
The accusation of doubt, doubt in him, prompted a knee jerk response from her. “I believe everything Sesshomaru-sama says.”
Rin paused, wondering if she really did believe him. That promise of eternal life—surely even Sesshomaru himself couldn’t live forever. What hope was there for a mere human like herself?
“Take a ride with me,” he said.
Sesshomaru scooped her up in his arms and Rin wrapped her arms around his neck as he leapt off the ground and they departed into the sky. The vast dark forests spread out beneath them like a limitless ocean as they passed overhead. The air up high was much cooler than on land and Rin, in her thin hadajuban, leaned her face into the great mass of fur at her friend’s shoulder. She closed her eyes and imagined herself as a raindrop from a fluffy cloud, falling into that ocean. A single, miniscule drop made insignificant by the multitudes surrounding it and drowning in that sea forever.
“It’s not that I don’t believe in you,” Rin said. “But it does sound…impossible though, right?”
Sesshomaru’s arm that was supporting her shoulders moved to the back of her head, his hand gently tugging her face out of the fur so he could look at her. Briefly she imagined his claws raking through her hair in the heat of some clandestine, passionate thing. How real could she feel then, Rin thought. How utterly known. She didn’t think she even knew a proper word for it.
“No one can live forever, not even Sesshomaru-sama.”
“Do you have such little faith in me?” he asked. “In me, Sesshomaru?”
Unlike earlier, an instinct to correct him doesn’t kick in. Rin had spent enough time with him by now to recognize the nuances of his tone, his speech. It was to himself that he was asking this question.
“I suppose I have let you down before,” he said, no doubt thinking of the time he’d lost her in the underworld. Only for her, his precious Rin, would he admit failure.
“But I will never let you down again.”
Rin, flying at a death-defying height above the ground yet feeling safe as houses in his arms, reached out to touch Sesshomaru’s face.
“Sesshomaru-sama,” she said, “Rin always has faith in you.”
They began to descend. Without her realizing it, they’d made a circle back to the village and Sesshomaru deposited them onto the ground in front of the hut.
“Goodnight, Sesshomaru-sama,” she bid but as she made for the entryway, he took her wrist and leaned down to kiss her. Her cheeks ignited in a hot blush and her stomach rolled, not unpleasantly, as her imaginings of hair-gripping passion bloomed into likelihood.
“It sounds impossible,” he repeated, as if literally stealing her own words from her mouth. “Rin, is that not what you said to me?”
She recognized the challenge in his voice.
“Rin, since I’ve known you, things I would’ve thought impossible have never ceased to happen. You allow the impossible to occur.”
He turned to leave.
“That is my belief in you.”
Rin quietly watched as he slipped back into the night.
All of this time, he had faith in her too.
And Rin knew, for as long as she lived, the two of them would never stop trying to perform miracles for one another.
Lonesome once again, she stood for a while amid the chirping crickets and the creaking of the forest and observed the sky above her. Scanning the heavenly body she found it amassed with many stars but none that shot overhead in pursuit of her wishes. So she took the memory of a kiss to lighten her heart and re-entered Kaede’s dream house.

It’s seems like director is aware of how pathetic sesshomaru is during yashamine. I remember way back when the show first started and the director stated we were going to see sesshomaru suffer in yashamine and have to make tough decisions. Sesshomaru literally does nothing through yashamine. He just walks around and then stares at rin during her time in the fish bowl. All of his “tough decisions” were made selfishly and could have been talked about with inukag. He wasn’t a great father, husband, or brother. Yet the director is trying to use two of the fan favorite characters (kagome and moroha) to gaslight everyone into think sesshomaru was a great father that was misunderstood. Shipper might be stupid enough to buy the director is excuse (and yes they are now using moroha words to say sesshomaru was indeed a great father) but regular fans can see it’s completely bullshit. I know sesshomaru had a small character development in inuyasha but damn they truly did assassinated his character yashamine.
Oh, he is aware of it. No doubt about it. Social media has made it possible for the producers to know the audience's reaction to certain aspects of a show in real time. They know our expectations, our complaints, what worked and what didn't. Then they take this information and to the best of their abilities, try to adapt the show to addres those concerns in an attempt to please and cultivate the viewers.
Just look at how Moroha was treated in season one – not only in the story itself, but also advertising wise – and how she was treated in season two. The same with Inuyasha and Kagome, who at first had very scarce content but recently got promotional art after promotional art. It's clear they tried to focus on the Sessrin family initially but it didn't wake the audience's interest the way they hoped it would so they recalculated the route.
And if you ask me, this is probably one of the many reasons why Sessrin didn't get any real romantic interaction. From the beginning, people already feared this couple was gonna happen and the reaction against it when it was confirmed was even more visceral than Sunrise expected so they got reticent about making it worse by going full disgusting – which I think they were going to do, considering how the second opening juxtaposed a child Rin and Sesshomaru scene with a romantic Inukag one.
Another example is the cursed manga, which fixed pretty much everything we've been complaining about with the notable exception of the biggest, most obvious one. But it didn't mean they weren't aware of it. So much that at least Rin was drawn like an actual adult woman on it. Even the anime went out of its way to make Jaken soothe our worries by explicitly saying that Rin was most definitly 18 years old, he thinks, probably, if he can remember correcly.
And that's exactly what happened with Sesshomaru's characterization as a father. During Inuyasha, we've literally seen him in action as someone who has a child under his protection. We've seen how caring, helpful and present he was. So when they dropped this "rite of courage and cowardice" on us and made him act like the worst father in the history of fathers, of course we took just a little bit of issue with the complete horseshit, character assassination, absolute fucking nonsense that this is.
But instead of backing down, Sunrise doubled down. They could try and write themselves out of this mess. Personally, I thought Sesshomaru was acting that cold because his plan involved using the Windmill of Time to reboot the timeline they were in so in the end of the day his actions wouldn't matter because everything would be erased anyway and that's what Sunrise was going for. It's still shady and incredibly risky, yes, but it would have been way easier for me to accept. Or literally any other similar solution.
But be it because they thought it was too late (I recognize it's a huge change that would take too much work, especially in such a short period of time) or because there was an actual plot reason (mind you, I stopped watching it after episode four and the few things I know come from screenshots, especific clips and general commentary), the fact remais that they stood by it. But they still had to address the problem. And they did it by indirectly spoon feeding their case to the audience.
Imagine the twins are the viewers. We doubt that Sesshomaru worried or even cared about the girls because of the selfish, illogical and heartless choices he has made, especially concerning them.
Tumblr media
We questioned the fact that he sat around and did nothing as his children faced mortal danger time and time again when he could easily have helped the out.
Tumblr media
We pointed out how it wasn't fair or reasonable to dump so many responsibilities on the shoulders of these 14 years old kids, especially when it was his mess to clean up, the consequences of his decisions that were his mistakes to fix and his alone.
Tumblr media
We compared the type of father he was to what we knew Inuyasha was gonna be, which was later confirmed: loving, responsible, caring, protective, reliable, helpful and so on...
Tumblr media
But Sunrise, just like you said, used the characters to manipulate us into thinking that we got it all backwards. They tried to make it seem like the difference is because Inuyasha is a simple, "easy to undestand" character while Sesshomaru is this very complex man who is being wronged by everybody. We just aren't enlightened enough to understand the poor thing.
Tumblr media
Because, after all, he's a strong demon who collected countless enemies through the years. Enemies that would not hesitate to attack his daughters if they got the chance, so it's better to tough them up.
Tumblr media
So what if the training was way too cruel? So what if he never explained his reasons to the girls? So what if they couldn't understand why their father, the person who was supposed to help and protect them, made them go through it on purpose when he had the option not to? So what if they hated him for it? So what if they thought he was far too unforgiving?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything is fine because in the end of the day he put them through all of this so they wouldn't lose to any bully. It was a lesson that makes total sense and that they should actually be grateful for.
Except that they were literal babies. And I'm not even exaggerating. They were literal babies when he abandoned them to their own luck. One of them spent 10 years in a different dimension because of it. They were killed and brought back to life in the process. And most importantly: he could have taught them how to fight and protect themselves from anything without leaving them behind.
Tumblr media
That being said, the choice of making Kagome saying to a rightfully pissed off Inuyasha that Sesshomaru had his reasons to act the way he did, then Rin and Moroha explaining said reasons to the confused twins is a deliberate tactic of manipulation. They're using characters they know we love to say what they want us to believe because it's easier for us to agree with them.
It's also easier to make characters tell things than to show those things to us. And that's what it all comes down to: the "show, don't tell" rule. They might tell us Rin was 18 years old, but they showed us that she was still pretty much a child. They might tell us Sesshomaru had his reasons to treat his children like crap: he wanted them to be strong enough to protect themselves. But what they showed us is that he was a shitty ass father.
That being said, I think it's naive to think shippers were stupid enough to buy it. For my own sanity, I have to believe no one over the age of 12 would fall for that bullshit. No. Deep down they know it makes no sense. What happens is that they choose to pretend they don't because it fits the narrative where their bias lies. That's it.
Rin looks like a child, sounds like a child, acts like a child, but Jaken expressly said she was 18 years old and that's something they can actually use against our narrative so they do it even though they know it's not true. Now the same thing is happening to Sesshomaru questionable parenting skills and Kagome, Rin and Moroha's lines. It doesn't matter the tell "contradicts" the "show" as long as the can throw the "tell" on our faces to try and convince us (and themselves) that they're right.
As for what the directors stated before the show, well... we're well past that. Yes, they lied about the mom being a mystery, they lied about Inuyasha getting a role in the story, they lied about every detail being a clue, they lied about Sesshomaru suffering and making tough decisions. And they did it all for money. Simple as that.
Now they're lying to manipulate us into thinking that we just don't get Sesshomaru at all.
But we do.
They are the ones who never did.

【TRUTH】Yashahime’s Director States Sessrin Has NEVER Been Approved by Rumiko Takahashi
(Translation of 海豹肉丸/北斗七星绅攻豹‘s article 2021-11-28)
We all know Sessrins love showing off Takahashi’s “favour” to their ship, although Takahshi politely denies it again and again. In fact, according to a recent Yashahime review, not only Rumiko herself, but also the the very director of Yashahime, Teruo Sato, openly declares that Sesshomoru and Rin are never a ship in Rumiko Takahashi’s work.
(Notice: Sorry I made a mistake here. This interview is not quite recent. It’s in Yashahime’s March review, and the question was on episode 15.)

It is clear that to Sato, “SessRin” is a thing never exsits in Rumiko Takahashi’s work. Here he is worried that even though Yashahime is not Rumiko’s work, some fans may well feel “uncomfurtable” about this ship. (Which is, of course.)
Yashahime is a fanwork of the Inuyasha Anime. Inuyasha anime is adapted from Inuyasha manga. The commerical part of its copyright belongs to Sunrise, but the canon is always what Rumiko Takahashi has drawn.

Welp, looks like we got answers and they really went with the worst possible option. I honestly expected Sessrin to happen when they first announced Yashahime and Sesshomaru having half demon daughters, which was the reason I wasn’t willing to even touch the show when it came out. I was reconsidering watching it if the antis’ theories about Kagura or Kikyo came true because that would have actually been interesting, but I am glad I didn’t touch that fucking mess at all.
Inuyasha was the first anime I was a serious fan of, and it had a great ending  with the manga and the Final Act. Yashahime is about as canon as the movies, and it can stay in its own fucked up timeline, far, far away from me. Meanwhile, I’ll take the CANON ending of the series in which Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku and Sango had happy endings and Sesshoumaru isn’t a pedo. Moroha is cute and deserves to grow up with inukag without the mess the plot of Yashahime made for her, and I’ll pretend the twins either don’t exist or are Kagura’s daughters, which would have been far more fitting.
Fuck Yashahime, fuck Sunrise and fuck Sessrin shippers. All of you are lying creeps. “I ship ADULT RIN”, my ass, you clearly were just fine having 13-14 year old Rin getting pregnant by the adult who had been taking care of her since she was 8. That’s how far you were willing to go to validate your trashfire of a ship, and it says a lot about you, whether you like it or not.

Can you please share your opinion on why sessrins hate Kagura so much. The intensity of their hate towards her is so great that I think they hate her more than Naraku who ordered her to kidnap Rin once (which she even forgot about it coz it wasn't her intention) and threatened to kill her in the TFA. She never hurt Rin. She never hurt Sesshomaru as far as I can remember too. I just don't get why they hate her so much. She doesn't deserve that hate.
It's because SessKagu is the closest we got to a canon Sesshōmaru ship in the manga and original series and they're jealous. It's that simple.
They talk about how Rin changed Sesshōmaru, but canonically, Kagura is the first person he felt strong feelings for. This is confirmed on-page. The first time he felt rage and grief for anyone other than himself was for Kagura.
Kagura was also the first person he actually wanted to save with Tenseiga. Previously, he had used it to test its capabilities and because the sword itself had reacted to dead people. But he tried to save Kagura because he wanted to.
Rumiko has said Kagura's death scene, when she meets Sesshōmaru for the last time, was one of her favorite scenes to draw. She's never said anything like that about any of Rin and Sesshōmaru's interactions.
And speaking of Kagura kidnapping Rin, he sure seemed pretty blasé about that. Not in the sense that he didn't care about Rin, but in that he never got angry at Kagura over it. Obviously, he knew she did it on Naraku's orders, but has Sesshōmaru ever held back from attacking an underling when he's angry at their boss?? Or was Kagura different for some reason?
SessRinners hate Kagura because they know deep down that Rumiko never intended for SessRin to be romantic and that, had Sesshōmaru had a canon love interest, it would have been Kagura.
