people who ship aemond x alys
Well... Aemond took Alys as a prize of war and raped her there as a result.
Logical that we detect this relationship.
As far as I know Daemon didn't rape Rhaenyra, or anyone for that matter (nor committed crimes of the same horrible kind that Aemond did).
And he even less groomed Rhaenyra like so many people who don't know the definition of that word or how the feudal era works like to shout.
Alysmond is a disgusting relationship, and the fact that so many people would romanticize it disgusts me.

Cersei Lannister & Rhaenyra Targaryen:
Are forced to marry someone they don’t love, so they find solace in the arms of a family member and commit incest
Seduce members of the Royal Guard
Have their husbands murdered because they didn’t like them
Have three bastard kids
Commit atrocities to claim the Iron Throne
Betray their allies when they feel threatened
Rule with fire and blood
Live in constant paranoia so they murder innocent servants whom they believe will betray them, even if said betrayal would be a direct consequence of the way they treat their subjects
Are hated by the people
and lets us not forget the -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But no, please go ahead and tell me all about how Rhaenyra is this feminist icon who has the divine right to rule over hundreds of thousands of people because her daddy said so, therefore if I don’t support her I’m a misogynist.

Another useless TG argument: “Alicent asked to see the baby, not for Rhaenyra herself to bring him. Rhaenyra chose to make a scene.”
Tumblr media
Alicent was separating a mother from her newborn simply to show off her power, and for the possibility to nourish her obsession in front of the whole Court (“See? See??? Brown hair! Brown hair!”).
Rhaenyra was supposed to do what? Allow the maids to bring her newborn child to the woman who despises her and who is known to have a vendetta against her innocent children?
Newborns are vulnerable. You mean to tell me that Rhaenyra didn’t consider that Alicent could have done something to hurt the child if he were alone in her possession?
Green fans are simply upset because Rhaenyra managed to counter attack beautifully by bringing the child herself.
1. She showed the entire Court how cruel their queen is, by demanding to see her and the child immediately after birth.
2. She showed true strength by managing not only to stay on her feet but also to walk a long way and climb stairs in order to reach Alicent’s chambers, and everyone at Court saw it and was in awe.
3. She was sending Alicent a very clear message: she would not be pushed around.
Alicent got away with a lot of things those many years and constantly abused her power without facing any consequences. Viserys just let her do whatever she wanted. She was very, very, very lucky that Daemon was away from Court. Married to Rhaenyra or not, if Daemon were at Court, do you really think he would have let Alicent get away with this psychological torture she was inflicting on the Crown Princess and her children? I actually fear even thinking what Daemon would have done to her.

i will never shut up about daemon sleeping with rhaenyra on laena's funeral.
have some f*cking respect for the mother of your children. have some f*cking respect for the person who was your companion for the last 10 years.
and i love how the writers changed laena's death to "honor her", but had daemyra get together on her goddamn funeral. disgusting.

I’ve never really seen anyone talking about this, but I noticed that one of the main reasons why I am team green is because team green feels like an actual team that is this whole thing together.
Team Green feels connected, united, like a family.
Team Black on the other hand is… meh.
And let me explain why:
Rhaenyra being delusional and thinking that Daemon is actually in love with her when he literally just groomed her since she was a child because he has always been after her title and now wants to be her king consort. They have one of the most toxic, creepy and problematic relationships in the entire fucking show.
Then there is the very awkward and uncomfortable moment of Rhaenyra and Daemon having sex on Laena’s funeral, while Rhaenys, Corlys, Baela, Rhaena and Laenor are mourning the loss of their daughter, mother and sister. How fucking disrespectful is this. And then the fact that they have Laenor “killed” just so they can get married and have their own perfectly blonde targaryen babies.
And Rhaenyra lying about Jace, Luke and Joff to everyone in her very own “team”, trying to gaslight not only Corlys, and Rhaenys but also her own sons into thinking they are trueborn, when even Jace himself. as a child, starts asking questions.
Then there are obviously Rhaenys and Corlys, who for some fucking reason neglected their trueborn granddaughters in favor of some dark haired white bastards their daughter-in-law is trying to pass off as their son’s children. Rhaenys is trying sooo hard to please her misogynistic husband because he so desperately wants his name to go down in history. Then the disrespectful betrothal of Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena. Rhaenyra is literally robbing these poor girls of their rightful claim to Driftmark and usurping them. And now, with Luke being dead, Rhaena’s claim dies with him.
Baela and Rhaena losing their mother, and now their father suddenly remarries, and has two blonde boys. Rhaenys losing BOTH her children and then seeing her son-in-law and daughter-in-law getting married soon after that.
Everyone in team black is after their own ambitions. They lie to each other, they don’t trust each other, they suspect each other in different things, they cheat on each other (with each other) and lie about it, they give each other forced ultimatums, and yada yada. All their scenes feel forced, tense, awkward and uncomfortable. They look so miserable with each other.
Team Green in this sense is the exact opposite.
Although their dynamic is far from perfect, obviously, you cannot deny that they care about each other very very deeply.
Alicent loves all of her children, and even while acknowledging their flaws, she still loves them.
Aemond might’ve been a little envious of Aegon, but he would never turn his back on him. He would never betray his brother, be would never try to take his crown from him.
Aegon was far from being a perfect man and king, but, as we know, it was his love for his family, and the fear of them getting hurt that made him a more responsible person and a more protective father, husband and brother. Sure, he is a cheater, but at least he’s honest about it and doesn’t lie to his wife. He is not a hypocrite.
Criston is working for Alicent not for ambition or for self-gain, but because he genuinely loves her, whether it’s romantic or platonic, doesn’t matter.
Helaena would never betray her family, her brothers, her mother. They are all she has. She would never switch sides even if given an opportunity.
And even Otto, arguably one of the main villains of the whole show, still loves his family. Sure, he is ambitious, but he would never become Corlys level of ambitious.
Team Green feels like they are fighting against the enemy all together, they have the same goals, they feel united and you can feel their devotion to each other. Especially after blood and cheese, when they become closer than ever. They’re in this together and only if they stick to each other, they can make it. It feels genuine and honest. They don’t hide anything from each other, they always have their loved ones’ best interests at heart, they would never in a million years betray each other. Yes, they are all doomed from the start, but their dedication and love to each other is truly something else.

Matt Smith stating that Daemon loves Rhaenyra multiple times and when asked again this summer while shooting season two who Daemon loved the most. He answered with ‘Rhaenyra’
Ryan Condal - ‘He loves his family, particularly loves Rhaenyra.’ And also stating on another occasion that Rhaenyra is the woman that Daemon actually loves.
Geeta Patel saying that the entire production discussed it and wanted to show that daemyra are deeply in love with eachother, and called their love sexier then sex.
Even Sara Hess who hates Daemon admitted that Daemon and Rhaenyra belonged together.
GRRM himself said not too long ago that Daemyra is one of his favourite things about Daemon.
I could go on and on with more examples, yet I’m supposed to take random online users with nothing but headcanons and self inserting for their ship’s opinion seriously when they say that Daemon doesn’t love Rhaenyra? Be ever so serious.

I hate the juxtaposition the writers try to make by painting Alicent as the sexually repressed patriarchy abiding woman and then try to show RHAENYRA as the sexually liberated one.
Are you… are you being serious? Rhaenyra who was groomed and manipulated by her UNCLE her whole life is supposed to be somehow more sexually liberated than Alicent who is stuck in an arranged marriage to a way older man? That’s the dream of sexual liberation? Being groomed by a close relative?
I mean at least Alicent and Viserys aren’t related. But apart from that their marriage is every bit as problematic as Rhaenyra’s relationship with her groomer.
The age gap between Rhaenyra and Daemon can’t be more than a couple years smaller than that of Alicent and Viserys. And the fact that he is her relative that took advantage of her vulnerability after the death of her mother to coerce her into sexual acts to ruin her reputation in order to gain political advantage is vomit inducing.
The thing that baffles me is how many people actually look at the scene where we we’re simultaneously shown Viserys maritally raping Alicent and Daemon coercing his niece to sexual acts in the brothel and don’t see this scene as the clear parallel it is.
People who don’t realize that remind me of Colleen Hoover fans that are only able to recognize abusive relationships when the abuse is explicitly shoved in their face in the form of physical violence and cannot recognize it when it is shown in a more subtle form like grooming, manipulation, dubious consent, and deception.
We could clearly see throughout the show how much Daemon’s grooming has had a long lasting effect on Rhaenyra’s life and personality. She isn’t able to build profound romantic relationships with anyone other than her uncle (remember how she forgot Harwin cough the father of her children cough even existed the moment Daemon showed up?) and we see her regress to an uncertain teenage girl at the moment he returns to her life ( she spills all her secrets to him the minute they’re alone without even thinking of possible consequences )
In Emma D’Arcy’s words:
"This is essentially a grooming scenario. The idea that a teenage girl is in any way able to consent to that sexual interaction is a mess. There is no way that power can be equally distributed in that relationship."
- Emma D’Arcy
( And please, do not come screaming in the comments about how things were different the books. I’m talking about THE SHOW and basing this on what we saw in the show, such as for example Daemon admitting that Rhaenyra was a child when he left to go into exile, and what the actors have to say about this relationship. I can understand why it can be frustrating that some things were adapted differently but using the book as an argument doesn’t hold any weight because there have been many notable changes in the adaptation.)

Daemon and Rhaenyra’s relationship not only embodies what a grooming relationship looks like but also with how it progresses once the minor grows up. Not every person who was groomed is going to admit that it happened to them because it make the situation so much more real. And sometimes the person who was groomed doesn’t even realize that it happened to them until years down the line.
And the saddest part about their relationship and people who are in similar relationships in real life almost always go back. Because that person has been with them through their entire life and has quite literally seen them through thick and thin(even if the abuser was the cause behind it all) and it make the victim believe that the abuser could never be a bad person. We see that when Daemon celebrates Aemma and Baelon’s death by toasting Nyra’s brother as, “Heir for a day.”
Then Daemon goes on to steal the egg she chose for her brother and effectively take over Dragonstone-the castle of which she is now Princess of. And when he comes back to court after being away for four years at war she just forgives him since he’s the only person she has left at court. Even years later, when Harwin and Laena are both dead and Laenor is becoming increasingly depressed because of his sister’s death, Rhaenyra goes back to Daemon because she’s associated him with a relying hand who can help her at court.
She’s so convinced that he’s only looking after her to the point that when he starts an affair with teenage Nettles, all Rhaenyra thinks is that it must have been Nettles who ‘lured’ Daemon into her bed and sends word that she wants Nettles killed.

In the show, Rhaenyra is just as weak and self centred as Viserys is.
The fact that she repeats her father’s mistake, remarrying and producing legitimate children who would overshadow her chosen yet questionable heir, is so stupid.
Viserys desires another woman and male heirs, therefore he gives into the temptation of obtaining Alicent and having male children, without realising that by doing this he’s making it difficult for Rhaenyra, a girl, to keep the throne.
Rhaenyra desires her uncle above everything else, therefore she gives into the temptation of obtaining Daemon and having children with him, without realising that by doing this she’s making it difficult for Jacaerys, a bastard, to keep the throne.
The dance would have happened anyway, maybe it could be postponed for one generation had Otto not been so eager to chase the throne, but it would still happen.
And let’s be real: had Viserys not chosen Alicent, he’d pick another girl, like Laena, whose father would want the exact same thing Otto wanted: his blood on the throne. Corlys admits that’s what he’s after. Anyone would do the same thing. All the great houses are ambitious. The issue is that Viserys and Rhaenyra kept making stupid choices that made it easier for them to be undermined and then they cry about it.

The idea that Daemon survived the fall after the Battle above God’s Eye is absurd (the idea that he abandoned his family so he could run away with Nettles is beyond that).
Daemon Targaryen loved his family more than anything, for starters. He loved his daughters, he loved his sons and he loved his wife/his Queen (the woman he waited years and years for). He would have never abandoned them at their time of need, especially during a war deciding the future of House Targaryen.
Secondly, our favorite Rogue Prince has always been highly interested in getting House Targaryen back in shape and at the height of the reign of Aegon the Conqueror. It was his life goal. He wouldn’t have abandoned that cause for anything. Prince Daemon Targaryen was one of the few true dragon lords House Targaryen produced.
If Daemon had survived that fall, he would have returned to King’s Landing with Aemond’s head on a platter, not hesitating to take pride in how he eliminated the Greens’ single ace card (and by that, I mean Vhagar. Aemond was nothing without her). And with that, he would have proved his unwavering loyalty to Rhaenyra, and protected the claims of their remaining children.
