Addressing Everything

So by now, most of you have probably seen all the drama that is occurring for the past week. I've been aware of it since it started. I haven't said anything as I was hoping it would die down on its own, but that's clearly not happening.

Mrs-monaghan, along with a few others do not like me. She thinks I'm toxic, a bully, forcing people to agree with me or get blocked, etc. I don't regret my choice to block people when I block them, and I will continue to utilize the block button whenever I feel the need to. I will say that I am not blocking anyone for a difference of opinion. I'm blocking someone when I feel the need to remove their posts or comments from the content I consume on this site, my content is part of that consumption and interaction i have on here. I am a believer in curating your timeline to best fit you. That is what I'm using the block button for. I don't want to see hateful posts, I don't need people in my comments calling me names either for my opinion. I've always been willing to agree to disagree and a lot of the times, the comment section in my posts over more "controversial" topics shows that.

Alot has been claimed about me being different in DMs than I am on the timeline. I don't think that's true. I'm usually more willing to discuss things more in depth and have a more lengthy back and forth discussion over a topic in DMs than I am in an anon ask. But that is something I've also made clear in many of my posts. I also do generally curse more in my language as its vernacular that i use a lot in my daily life and ill have more typos/be less polished. Which I think is fair during a less formal conversation. I am also more than willing to post Screenshots of my DM history with Mrs-monaghan if anyone feels the need to see them since that has been a sticking point for her. I don't mind. I dont want to, but not because im worried about it, but because i didnt/dont feel the need to continually fan the flames of all of this or fight with her about it. She is entitled to not like me and i dont need to try to convince anyone otherwise.

I don't think anyone should be name calling when addressing another blogger and if the name wasn't intended to be derogatory, then it could be changed when making future comments about them, now that other people have gotten involved. I do think that should be said. Call me what you want, but if a mean idc about you nickname is derogatory in nature and it's not intended to be, maybe come up with something else. But honestly, none of this is really the point of my post here right now.

I've seen all the mean posts being made and sent in about me after I said I would start blocking people for shady posts against Tae (shady, not critical or questioning, but posts that were rude and mean in nature.) And honestly, that's fine. I cannot control what other people think or how they feel about me. They are all entitled to those opinions and feelings. I wont lie that i was a little surprised at some of the people who participated in these posts and signed off on them. But thats okay.

I did not and still do not want people going to her blog or any of the others who have said things to defend me or shame anyone in anyway. Losing followers if people believe their posts is okay. I've never been here for the numbers. I can't control what people do or say about me and I don't want to. If people end up not liking me because of that, that's honestly okay. I don't need people Bullying (in anyway you want to consider the word) anyone in defense of me. I don't appreciate that. If i get an ask and I answer it with my opinion and it disagrees with other peoples, that's where I want that to end. I don't need anyone telling other bloggers I'm right and they are wrong. It's all just opinions in the end. I've never wanted anyone to use my posts as a way to argue with other people. Everyone can choose to engage and interact with the content on here that they choose and how they choose to do so.

I do just want anyone else here to know that if I have offended or upset anyone on here, I am always willing to talk about it. My DMs have been open for that reason. I am willing to agree to disagree if that energy is also returned. I'm willing to bend on a lot honestly. I won't apologize for blocking the people who have been interacting with posts that are hateful to me or about how they don't like me. That is something I am doing for my own mental well being and safety. I don't need people who actively dislike me around me. And I think that is fair.

That's all. Just if anyone is making more posts or going to plan to send in asks, I'm asking you not to and to let it go. I don't need to change anyone's mind about me. They are free to not like me as much as they want. That's okay. I don't need anyone defending me.

i know that it's a very hard concept for some people to get, but literally, everyone is valid. i don't find joy in being a stickler for canon or some strange rules, but some people do and that's FINE! i don't think it's fun or fair to use that as an excuse to yell your opinion in a rude way though, just the same as i don't think it's fair to say that the people who think the riddler is straight or bisexual are erasing him being gay. there's enough canon and imagination for us all! disagreeing with someone is part of the fun, it's part of the experience, of fandom and life in general!

let that boy be confused, let him be gray, let him be bi, let him be adhd, let him be anxious, let him be a neurotypical straight man for all i care. see yourself in your characters, find them loveable and by proxy, find yourself loveable!

and then, when you find yourself loveable, maybe you can find strangers loveable too and not be a total fanny about it u-u

As a POC, CSA survivor, and both trans & queer - Tom should've educated himself. He had no right to step his foot into racism that /he/ has not experienced. I've had a genuine brick thrown in my face because I spoke Spanish. /Because I spoke Spanish./

GaG is nothing /but/ hate, and it worries me that the "let's agree to disagree" mentality is being spread here. It's dangerous. It's scary to think you guys would still want to support a creator - who's fandom had poc and was mainly LGBT - who looked down upon us. It's common sense, that he did not have. I don't wish death threats upon anyone, and I am so terribly sorry he experienced that. But I am happy he is gone. Let him learn and actually research before he steps his foot into issues he does not belong in.

His fandom that he created felt betrayed, hurt, and as if we were used for money. I still do. I do not support him. The only support he deserves, is therapy and actual learning. Not babying and coddling. People need to realize that just because you have freedom to like something, doesn't free you of consequence and opinion. I hope he stays gone, in all respect. And I hope all of his supporters that "he did nothing wrong" also grow up and get help. Listen to POC, queer, jew, and disabled voices.

I am so so sorry you went through that. I won't pretend by saying I understand how you're feeling, but just know that I'm so sorry you went through/go through all of that. You are very strong, and I hope one day things do get better, not just for you but any and everyone who has gone through that.

As for the GaG agree to disagree subject. The agree to disagree thing was for the Tom situation in general, not only for the GaG. I have been talking about them because I'm trying to educate myself on who they are as people and only recently learned about their actions. I can't speak for all of us, but some of us are just here to discuss stuff. Not all of us are or will continue to support Tom. You have people who love lurking for love, still do but don't want to buy anything or continuing to follow Tom if he comes back. You have others who will. You have others who don't. We all understand that here, and we shouldn't be telling others what to do in their lives. We can disagree and move on, of course, but yelling and being rude only drives people away faster.

Why drive him away, though? I didn't even agree with everything he said, but why couldn't we have had a conversation with him about it instead of telling him what was wrong with what was said? People mess up all the time. It happens, and we shouldn't be screaming insults at someone who had his own opinions and side of the story. Both sides were handled poorly, and I still stand by that this should have been handled privately like adults.

I understand. A lot of people were hurt, and no one here is looking down on those who were hurt. This is meant to be a place where people can talk from both sides about what happened without getting insulted, It doesn't matter if I or anyone agrees or not. This is a safe place for those who don't know where to go when they can't feel welcomed or safe to say, even ONE opinion. You want to call it babying and coddling, then fine, No one is stopping you. But sometimes, all someone needs to understand is someone to just hold their hand and explain. Especially when Tom even asked for proof of the comic artist being a Nazi and only 1 person helped him. People sometimes just need help to understand or get the whole picture. My dad never understood being trans. He even said transphobic things to my face, but all It took was time and explaining, and now he defends anyone who is trans and even when I came out to him.

I can not add on the racism part because I have never experienced racism. I'm not going to even pretend I do because racism is an awful to see and I can't even imagine how it must feel to experience it first hand. I am so sorry that you have and I'm sorry to anyone who has as well.

As you know, I'm not familiar with your NaruSaku kid OCs. Character and design-wise, how do you imagine them being different from the more famous fankids, Shinachiku, Hanami, and Arashi?

In fairness D, I don't think anyone other than me is actually familiar with my NS kids lol, but I gather your meaning lol.

Okay, let's be clear first and foremost cos I have run into this problem before and I don't want anyone to misunderstand me when I say something in a moment.

I have no ill will against Shinachiku, Hanami and/or Arashi. I've just been here a long time and the NS kids I came up with have been knocking around my noodle for a lot longer than Shinachiku has ever even existed. I have my own, I'm not dropping them for anyone or anything. I'm also not co-opting them and merging my characters with them either. I patently refuse.

It's rude you know?

Cool? Cool.

As for differences beyond the obvious, there's four of my kids, they look different slightly, well you'll have to tell me, I don't know too much about them outside of the bits and pieces I've gleaned from other fic and art.

I strongly suspect the biggest difference is less to do with the kids and more to do with the differences between my Naruto and the Naruto we typically see in stuff about Shina et al.

We are made who we are by the people who raise us, no matter how much we may fight against it as adults, we are the people who came out of our parents/guardians parenting. For good or ill, we are all reactions to our parents, so if my Naruto is different to everyone who writes Naruto for Shina etc ... well I'll have different kids.

I very much get a bumbling sitcom dad/fourth child vibe from Shina and his siblings' dad. And that's fine, it's a perfectly fun and popular take on how Naruto would be as an adult and parent.

I just ... disagree.

I think this comes slightly from two key differences between me and the majority of fanfic writers still knocking around in the NaruSaku sphere.

I'm a man.

I'm a father.

So I have a distinctly unique perspective on fatherhood to most of the people writing Naruto as a dad for NaruSaku. Not a better one to be clear, just a different one.

And because of this, any particular differences between Shina, Hanami and Arashi with my four kids, Sachi, Ichika, Yuuto and Akihiko ... would be kinda like comparing apples and oranges to be honest.

So what I'm going to do instead is just describe the four of them as just them. And you'll have to tell me if that's like Shina etc or not like them.

I do actually have a post where I detail my kids a bit but I was a bit lackadaisical on physical descriptions. So this post will focus on that and I will link the other post with more of their personalities here.

Now, let's start with the appearance of the eldest Uzumaki child.

Sachi Uzumaki

Sachi is our eldest, she's got pink hair a couple shades darker than her mum, eyes just a little lighter blue than her dad and her face is mostly a perfect mix of both her parents, except for the grin. She's got her dad's grin and mouth. Her hair has been all sorts of length but as she settles into teens and active ninja duty, it is cut just a little longer than Sakura's was for most of the story.

When she hits her full height she stands at 5 foot 7, has a generally toned physique like most ninja and kunoichi do with one key exception. Sachi Uzumaki's arms are jacked. Girls got guns and knows how to use them lol. Think an Olympic swimmer for reference but not quite as bulky.

As for clothes, she typically dresses for action, she's what we who grew up in the 90s and early 00s would call a tomboy. There's a general mixing of colours, Sachi is very comfortable being the centre of attention and her clothing reflects this. While she's never gone out wearing full orange or anything like her dad, she has been known to walk around wearing some of Naruto's old jackets.

She does love a good pair of combat boots, the laces normally being fluorescent colours. Sachi's go to look from about the age of fourteen was an oversized top of some primary colour, normally blue, light grey trousers like the ninja uniform and sometimes Naruto's old jacket, sometimes a black leather jacket with the Uzumaki and Haruno symbol, which Naruto and Sakura made once they got married and merged their clans, yes I like this idea too, I'm sure it's also all over the other fankids lol, she wears her headband over her forehead to keep her hair out of her face and because she won't shy away from headbutting people with it.

Ichika Uzumaki

Ichika, Ichi to the family, is Naruto and Sakura's second daughter, sometimes their second or third child depending on the story.

She typically keeps her blonde hair long, think Kushina's lengths for the most part, but the style changes from braids to long flowing locks depending on her mood. She has the same shape and shade of green eyes as Sakura and like all of her siblings, Naruto's grin and mouth. But aside from her mouth it's all Haruno all the way down, you could see Ichika from a mile away and pick her out as basically a blonde Haruno.

She's very lithe to contrast her more muscular sister, if Sachi has a swimmer's body, Ichika has a gymnast's. She's also a few inches shorter than her sister and when all four of the kids are adults, she's the shortest of the bunch at 5 foot 3.

In yet another contrast to her big sister, Ichika is decidedly more traditionally feminine in her attire, favouring pinks and baby blues in her clothing. She's also more inclined to dresses and skirts. She loves summer because it's an excuse to wear sundresses and she loves a good sundress.

It does contrast to what she wears when on mission or training, she favours more form-fitting and close clothing in that scenario and her go to ninja gear is basically the typical uniform but with leggings and turtleneck under her eventual Chunin and Jonin vests. She wears her headband like a belt buckle.

Yuuto Uzumaki

Yuuto, Yuu to the family, is their first son, normally their third child, sometimes second.

He's a dead ringer for child!Naruto. If it weren't for his hair being less spiky and more flowing, think Minato basically, and his eyes being a couple shades lighter green than Sakura's you wouldn't be able to pick out which was five year old Naruto and five year old Yuuto. It's uncanny.

That is until he hits puberty, and his hair gets longer and his face more angular and it's like looking at Minato Namikaze's face on Hokage Mountain come to life. He styles his hair differently but if Sachi is a blend of Uzumaki and Haruno and Ichika is a Haruno ... Yuuto is a Namikaze. At least in the face. Body wise he's basically the same as Naruto, muscular in an agile way with a bit more bulk than his dad and standing at a full 6 foot, the same height as his dad. I don't care if he's actually 5 foot 10 in canon, it's my world now lol.

Yuuto wears as much black as he can as well. It's actually somewhat comical to see the flash of colour at the top of him, blond hair and a dark red headband over his forehead, and then just all black. Black dress shirt open at the second button and untucked, black jeans and black boots. If it didn't suit him so well, he'd get made fun of viciously by his siblings.

He forgoes the Chunin and Jonin uniform unless he's directly ordered to or it's a formal occasion and in fairness to the boy ... it does look weird on him.

Honestly, he looks a bit like a stylish super saiyan lol.

Akihiko Uzumaki

And last but not least, Akihiko. Aki or Koko to his family, I will let you guess who calls him what, but let's just say only Sachi gets away with calling him one of them.

Anyway, Akihiko has dark pink hair, which almost darkens to a very, very light red when he hits early adulthood. He keeps it shorter than the rest of his family, not buzzcut short or anything but no longer than the bottom of his ears. It's still a mess of hair though, no sign of mousse or hair gel lol. As an older man he even grows a beard.

He's the child who most resembles Sakura facially, including the forehead. But his eyes are a glorious merge of blue and green. Honestly they're quite astounding to look at. And of course he has Naruto's mouth and that damn grin.

He's a bit shorter than his brother and father, coming in at 5 foot 11 when he stands up straight and 5 foot 10 when he slouches, which is often. And he is very lanky, he's the least muscular of his family and that actually makes him look taller than he is because of how willowy he is.

Clothing wise, I dunno how to really put it, he dresses normally? Akihiko basically dresses to blend in, he doesn't stand out and he'd really rather you didn't look at him too long. Lots of earth tones and dulled colours. His headband is the brightest thing, and he ties it around his upper left arm on a flash of pink cloth.

And that's basically it for now. I hope this was worth the wait and let me just remind everyone that my takes on Naruto and his kids are just that, mine.

I have nothing but respect for people who use Shinachiku, Hanami and Arashi as their NS kids, but maybe now you've learned a bit about mine ... you'll see why I'm so attached to them. And I hope you look forward to reading the future stories I have about my Uzumaki family.

Oh no a Greek migrant that went to US but her family didn't probably kept her in touch with her roots 😬

I see it unfortunately with others that migrated to US from India, China, Europe etc where they will say often how when they visit their relatives they will barely know the language, and it's sad for them not knowing their language.

Eeh let's not throw a pity party for people we don't know. Most second or third-generation Greek immigrants who don't know the language are not fully responsible for that. There are many variables outside their control. Their parents or immediate family didn't teach them, and with other stuff going on it's a bit hard to pick up the language from zero.

There are also feelings of guilt and disconnect when one doesn't know the language of their parents and this can lead to the person picking up the language later. It is great and beneficiary to know the language of your parents since it's a big part of the culture, but for the reasons above I don't want to judge the Greek immigrants who don't know Greek. They can always learn later. Besides, the goal in their lives might not be to become "super Greek" and that's fine as well.

The girl could very well be Greek by ethnicity, it just doesn't show where she lives. If she was living in Congo or Myanmar she would be visibly a "foreigner".

Like here, many Greeks still call "Pakistani" (not "Pakistani-Greek") the children who grew up here and they could have visited Pakistan just 1-2 times. Greeks do that for Nigerian children, Albanian children etc. Very conveniently in these cases Greeks don't forget the ethnicity of these people, even though these second or third-generation immigrants may have never been to the country or been once and felt like tourists. With that logic, yeah, she could very well be Greek.

I find it incredibly stupid when Greeks use the "argument" (ο Θεος να το κανει) "but she has never visited Greece!" Sooo?? She didn't say she was a Greek citizen! She meant her family's culture was Greek. There are Greek communities all over the world and the people of these communities don't have Greek citizenship.

I also disagree with people who say "it's in her blood" because culture =/= blood. If blood had anything to do with it, second gen immigrants to Greece wouldn't "belong" to Greek culture at all (but they do). And blood doesn't automatically make you know your culture and history or language. You can engage with it, of course, as anyone else with "different blood" is free to do so. These people could just say "She grew up in the culture" and that's it.

Of course, we should address the elephant in the room; the fact that this woman treated the (mostly common Greek) food like she'd never seen it in her life, and she misnamed and mispronounced words all the time. Her behavior and expression, and attitude toward the food don't distinguish her at all from the stereotypical USAmerican girl. This shows she is culturally quite far removed from the culture and it's reasonable that her claim of being Greek creates skepticism. (I just wish they weren't so rude and stubborn about it).

I can also tell that she probably had little to no contact with Greek culture (even if her parents were 100% fully Greek and moved to the US -- and I assume she is from the US because of her tonality and accent). It's not a crime to be removed from your parents' culture and there is no reason to engage in Greek culture if she doesn't want to. I am just saying that starting the video with "Guys I am literally Greek…" and then proceeding to be a full-blown USAmerican in every turn is eeeeeeeh weird, to say the least.

If she indeed is Greek by ethnicity I won't tell her that she isn't but I guess her identity explanation could be a bit different and more accurate to her own experience?

The end of chapter 3 is here!

Hearing that, Alice felt as if someone was grabbing her by the neck, choking her until her very last breath. Lady Scarletborn next to her, barely an inch away from her face, had a large smile on her face, overwhelming her to the point where her hands began to shake. She clenched them, breathing through her nose quietly.

“What do you mean by that?” she stepped back. “What I think of her?”

“Yes, that’s exactly what I just asked,” she crossed her arms, tilting her head in confusion “Can’t people make small talk anymore? You’re being really rude, you know!”

“I,” she struggled, unable to see a way to get out of this, “Well, she’s just another brat. I don’t see any reason why we’ve kept her here for so long. Letting her go already wouldn’t change anything.

“... Really?”

“Y-yes!”

The lady looked back at the dragon, still trying to break its way out, “Can’t say I disagree with you there. I would have gone through it differently myself, but we are after following the orders given by the emperor. So, what can you do?”

Alice was confused. “The emperor decided this?”

“I wasn’t expecting you to know. When the council got the report that she appeared in front of the prison unconscious. While the council suggested bringing her over to us, he decided that General Benedict and his guard should watch over her for an indefinite amount of time.

“I see.”

This doesn’t make any sense. Rue brought me there. Why? And why was I separated from mom? There’s something missing, but what? Maybe… hope this doesn't cause any suspicions.

“That’s all very confusing. Was she really brought here all alone?”

“Well, except for a letter signed anonymously, there was none else but her unconscious body covered in snow, although…”

“Hisss!”

Before she was able to finish, the dragon growled. Several steps were overheard by the entrance. The two women stood still as they watched several guards enter the place, and an elderly man wearing silver armor and a cape made of bright red fur, looking at them with a stern expression.

“Ah, General Benedict,” she bowed down, “We have been waiting for you!”

“My lady, where have you been? I told you to stay with the knight of-”

“Oh, don’t worry, he’s fine. I just needed to be sure that everything was well and ready before the ceremony started! I brought this young sir to watch over me, so I was in safe hands!”

“Graham? This is where you have been?”

“O-f course! Where did you think I was? Locked in a cell snoring through the entire day? Heh…”

They were all quiet to this attempt at a joke.

“Well, whatever the case. Soldier, don’t do tasks like this unprompted without permission from higher officials. As for this…”

They all look at the dragon, clenching it's teeth upon seeing the elderly man.

"Sir, I am astounded," Lady Scarletborn said, "That you have captured an actual dragon."

"It's still unbelievable. I couldn't believe it my eyes when I first saw it. I wish I was like the general." the guards gossiped amongst themselves.

"Oh please, it's just another military pet, nothing jaw dropping. He'll be back in that cage when we're finished with this. So don't pay it much attention."

I can't believe I've never seen it before for all the years I've been here. And all these guys knew about it too??? Since when was it here? And for how long...is it going to stay here?

The more he steps closer, the more enraged the dragon gets. It tried to shout through its tied down mouth, clawing through the sharp bars. Just as the elderly men appeared right in front of the cell, it had jump out, trying to claw through the man's face. Everyone else flinched, but he stood still.

“Oh, calm down, you pest,” he pulled out a small bottle, a gray substance inside it, “You should have gotten used to this already!”

As he opened it, a weird aroma began flowing through the air. Despite having no sort of smell to the people inside this large room, the same could not be said for the dragon. One sniff alone caused the small creature to change. Its eyes were half open as he suddenly dropped to the ground, almost fainting.

“That should be enough,” he opened the cell, immediately putting the leash on this now exhausted being.

“Good boy,” the general dragged it outside, “With this, we should now be able to start the ceremony! You may call upon the young lad Lady Scarletborn.”

“Of course, sir,” Lady Scarletborn clapped her hands, a cheery smile just like before, “I shall tell him to get ready fast! See you all there!”

“Good, soldiers! Come with me! We already wasted enough time as is with that one man, so get to it.”

“Yes sir!”

“...”

“All of you,” he looks at Alice in disguise, stunned by what she had just saw.

“Of course, sir” Alice followed along, her eyes unable to look away from the dragon as she felt like puking.

They arrive inside a large and elegant ballroom. The difference between it and the rest of the prison was so stark, it almost felt they entered a completely new place. The walls were covered in gold, windows showing off the shining sun and tall trees, were covered in all sorts of jewels. Despite the place’s grandeur, Alice, standing alongside other guards, only looked at the small now husk of a dragon.

“Stopping messing with me, pet!”

The general’s shout echoed through the entire room as he carried a wooden torch in his hand.

“Have you become deaf?” he pulled the leash so tightly the dragon whined, “Shoot out your flames this instant!”

The dragon, squeamish in his steps, split out the smallest of sparks, leading the torch to begin burning

“Finally, it wasn't so hard, was it?”

He proceeded to kick the dragon’s in its stomach, wincing without and strength to fight back.

Seeing all of that, Alice tightly gripped her own arms to restrain herself.

That guy… what’s wrong with him? It did just as you asked him to do and you still treat him like that! No, Alice, calm down. You can’t disclose your disguise at this moment. Be patient. Just wait till the ceremony ends, find Mister Miroslav and then… I’ll deal with him.

“Not that this is done with,” the general appeared before a group of maids, their pure white clothes covering everything other than their faces, “Spread this.”

The maids with torches in their hands all picked off the first’s flames, spreading across the walls of the room, holding the torches tightly against their chest

*Why do this in private? There are a number of reasons: the first, and most relevant, that it means other people aren't going to randomly jump in and change the subject, so we can have an actual conversation rather than something that comes over more like a random accusation I may not fully understand out of the blue. Secondly, I have a solid handful of followers that I expect would probably defend me, and you don't need people jumping down your throat for "attacking" a person they like, especially if you're right but even if I think you're wrong. I also don't want to deal with that. Finally, I don't like being stuck between trying to understand more and feeling like I have to "save face" because the latter is bad for actually learning and growing as a person. I - of course - still do my best to learn in public, but without the pressure of a significant amount of outside observers it's easier for me to form an initial response and have a normal conversation. You can always take it public later, if you're convinced I've done something wrong and won't make amends. At that point I'm sure we're just going to be enemies so asking you not to is gonna go nowhere lmao. I take bigotry and my own biases seriously, but it's possible that after we discuss and I do some of my own research, we may come to different conclusions as to the relative problems with a certain depiction, discussion, or behavior. This is a normal part of socializing. Please give me the grace of holding a conversation with me first before jumping to getting on my case publicly. (If you're scared of reprisal, first of all, don't be because I don't like to do that, but secondly, you can just make a throwaway account to message me with. It's easy.)

Again, I'm taking this in good faith so I will respond but hopefully this'll be the last of this discussion.

If you meant no harm then no hard feelings, thank you for the apology.

As for me and my fellow writer buddies "being rude" I don't think readers understand how frustrating it can be as a writer to see people send stuff that basically amounts to "fuck this thing that you like to write you should probably write this thing that I like". A lot of readers will never actually engage in our works beyond demanding for more and the intention might be flattery but it comes off as entitlement when you phrase it in a certain way. A lot of work goes into writing lmao it may seem like a simple thing but it's not. When you put a lot of work into something and see someone say they'd rather you write something else in what seems to be a super passive aggressive way ofc it'd be annoying. I think writers are allowed to be annoyed when we do so much only to be reduced to content machines and I don't regret being pissed nor will I hide my irritation if this kinda thing happens again.

You've said that wasn’t your intention and I'll believe you on that but you used the same sort of language that those people do and that's why me and my friends reacted the way we did. I don't think I have to apologise for feeling frustrated about your comments and sharing that frustration with my friends so I won't give you an ingenuine apology or say some dumb shit like "sorry you feel this way" but I will say we're cool. It's all water under the bridge for me and if you think I'm an asshole that's also fine I probably am lmao but I hope that at least you get why it pissed me and other writers tf off.

Idk if you'd like some advice but as a general psa you don't have to tell a writer you don’t like something they write a lot. There's a difference between criticisms and taste and considering this is a taste sorta deal there was no need to include that bit about not enjoying Yeji gp. Going "hey your writing is cool got any ryujin gp stories" would have sufficed. Heck there's ways to disagree with someone and not sound rude, I know I have a reader that doesn’t really vibe with Yeji gp but their ask never had any implication that I should be writing something different. It was a nice little interaction with someone who sees things different from me but still appreciates my work.

Sorry this is so long lmao I wanted to try to be as clear with my thoughts and give as much grace as possible because I'll be honest seeing someone call me and my friends rude for sharing frustration over something that we go through way too often has pissed me tf off. That wasn't your intention so you don’t deserve my ire but like I said I'm not going to hide my feelings about this sort of thing.

Why don't you like Melli x Ingo? Not trying to be rude, just curious. You don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable.

I’ve been asked this question before, and I’ve been a bit hesitant to answer because it’s a complicated, and likely a much longer answer than you’d probably expect. I also know that a lot of people are likely to disagree with me/my interpretation, and I’m really not interested in conflict, or arguing with anyone. I also don’t really see much value in spending time on things I don’t enjoy, or that make me uncomfortable.

I also want to make it clear that I’m fine with people who do like the ship, I just want to avoid it.

I guess the biggest thing for me is a perceived age gap, and that makes me very uncomfortable.

I know this is up for interpretation, but I see the Ingo that appears in PLA as being much older than he was in the Black and White games. Despite many assuming that Ingo came to Hisui at a similar time/method that you (the player character) did, there is no canon proof/information that confirms this. There’s also many hints that this is likely not the case, with quite a lot of evidence that he may have lived in the Hisui region for quite some time (at the point you first encounter him during the events of the main story)

His slouched posture, facial lines, and receded hairline (all of which he didn’t have in previous games) are visible signs of aging, and indicate that quite some time has passed between his first appearance (BW), and his most recent appearance in PLA.

The offical guide book also hints that he has likely been in the Hisui region for quite some time. As seen below, there is an illustration of Ingo being discovered by a member of the Pearl Clan with the caption “XX years ago”. It can be assumed that the “XX” (X being a widely accepted method of marking a document in lieu of an actual signature/name/information) is being used in place of/to obscure the actual numbers as to preserve the mystery of how long Ingo has been in the Hisui region, yet the two marks would indicate that it was at least a decade ago. It could also be interpreted as being Roman numerals, which in that case would indicate that ingo was discovered 20 years ago. At the very least the word “years” confirms more than one, making it very unlikely that he came to Hisui at the same time as the player character.

Also, his title as Warden within the Pearl Clan (who like all clans in Hisui are notoriously suspicious/slow to warm up to outsiders) also points towards Ingo being in the Hisui region for a long time, as it would have taken him time not only to earn the position, but to have gained acceptance as a member of the clan in the first place.

His outfit (which as we can see in the above illustration) looks mostly intact upon his discovery, yet is very tattered, and even rusted by the time you encounter him in game. This implies years of wear and tear (maybe sneasel assisted?) between the first illustration (when he first came to the Hisui region), and his current design.

Melli on the other hand, despite his size, is actually one of the youngest members of the Diamond Clan. Mai confirms this during the events of the daybreak update when she informs us that he is younger than Adaman.

This would, as far as my interpretation goes, put a significant age gap between the two characters, and this makes me incredibly uncomfortable.

There’s also a few other factors as to why I don’t like the ship ranging from minor things like it being completely out of character, and conflicting head canons, all the way down to more serious issues/conversations around consent (due to Ingo’s memory loss), but the age gap (perceived or otherwise) is a big ick to me, and I’d rather avoid it at all costs

(Again, this is my interpretation and I’m not claiming anything above to be “correct”. Nor is my intention to judge, create any conflict, or to generate any discussion regarding the above topic in any way. I’m also not interested in anyone else’s interpretation, or counter arguments in any way shape of form. If someone gains any perspective, or finds any value in what I’ve written, then that’s great!, but I have no wish to ever address, or engage in discussion about the topic further)

i just wanted to let you know how much i love your meta on this campaign, especially on imogen!! (my beloved) i’ve been seeing some negative takes on her lately, same old stuff with people ‘calling out’ how invasive and rude it is for to continue to use her telepathy on npcs without their consent and other nitpicky things? (to me there’s a weird line to draw since it’s quite literally one of the main ‘features’ that imogen has and if laura didn’t utilize it it’d be a bit of a waste imo but anyways-) imogen in general is just such a cool character to get into and analyze and your takes on her are always 👌✨✨

i will say though, that for that particular telepathy take, i don't really disagree that there's an... maybe not invasive, but like. non innocuous nature to it? I do think that the way Imogen deals with psychic communication and voices in her head and like. Her entire concept of mental privacy is probably pretty informed as a result of. The Events Of Her Life. That said- she seems very aware of the unease and fear it can strike up in people, and, she uses it very effectively for intimidation effect and gaining the upper hand in certain interactions. That awareness- and willingness to use it- I think shines a light on a really interesting and integral aspect of her characterization. Slightly terrifying (affectionate).

I think on a more general note though, about people doing "callouts" or etc and the phrasing of like. rude, or, lbr moral judgements of her character overall. i. okay. i'll say first that I think sometimes people just don't. vibe with, or like certain characters and thats fine. (and good! I think its a good sign when there are characters with traits not universally positive that still feel very human and understandable and sympathetic). I also agree that it can also be frustrating to feel like someone is doing an. uncharitable, or erroneous read of a character you like due to pre-existing distaste. I've made my life easier by thinking of it as the other side of the coin where folks favouring a particular character bleeds into their assessments and assumptions about things.

But if its really weighing on you, blocking is always an option, and doesn't hurt anyone! Curating your own fandom experience is good- i think its valuable to see posts and follow people who don't always agree with you, but you're not under a moral obligation to keep seeing the posts of people who just have different (fandom) opinions and are actually upsetting you.

But yes. I do love analyzing Imogen- I love approaching all characters from the lens of trying to understand why they do whatever they do, and Imogen tends to land in a sweet spot for me where my indulgent expectations for her behaviour tend to pan out surprisingly often, and what she does feels right for where she's at. Even if I don't agree with it, even if its not a "good" thing (by whatever subjective measure). Its very satisfying! She's a complex character for sure. Its very fun.

i’m not into drifteris or whatever their ship is called, in fact it’s kind of a notp of mine bc i just can’t do ships based on people who unapologetically and purposefully annoy each other. but i do think that’s what it is: purposefully annoying each other. in one of the previous seasons, idr which, eris says she’ll stop calling him ‘rat’ when he stops calling her ‘moondust’ and then neither of them ever stopped which is kind of frustrating given that both of them just before this express not wanting to be called ‘rat/moondust.’ and they have this weird begrudging friendship thing. i think in the line you posted, ‘but you keep calling,’ that’s part of their begrudging friendship, purposefully goading each other until the other walks away from the conversation. eris’s goading is more subtle than drifter’s though so i think a lot of people miss her doing the same to him? they do it to each other over and over and over and it’s not just one-sided drifter annoying eris. idk how to explain all this. hope it makes sense. fucking sucks eris nickname for him is an antiasian slur too. its not a common one and rat is a common insult in general so i think its usage as a racial slur just gets buried and therefore unnoticed by bungie. wish it would stop especially since they have both said they want the other to stop and could easily mutually agree to do so like wtf. its been on my mind a lot and drives me nuts bc they still use it in game

okayyyy i see where you're coming from with this but i kind of disagree for a couple reasons.

one, bungie frequently switches writers and it shows in a lot of character inconsistency between expansions/seasons (this happens to a lot of characters, not just drifter and eris). the way drifter and eris' relationship is written is fundamentally different in season of arrivals, the witch queen collector's edition lorebook, and season of the haunted to the present. in arrivals, they don't like each other bc they don't know each other very well and drifter is kind of annoying (love that about him) and it very much comes off as drifter antagonizing eris and eris only antagonizing him back when she can't take it anymore. he is the one instigating a lot of their confrontations and she only gives him a derogatory nickname when he refuses to stop using a nickname for her.

they're only briefly mentioned in the witch queen collector's edition lorebook but it seems like because they worked together in beyond light they've gained a greater understanding and respect for each other. drifter calls her eris and "three eyes" instead of moondust, which to me indicates that eris explained that moondust is a hurtful nickname to her bc it reminds her of a place that is the source of her trauma and he changed nicknames accordingly. he says that eris works "with me" (not for me, suggesting that he respects her as an equal) and says ikora wasn't giving her enough "chances to grow." again, this is a huge step forward in the way they treat each other and a much more interesting dynamic.

but all of a sudden in season of the haunted, they've taken three steps back to nothing but needless antagonism. for us to interpret this as friendly banter, there has to be some kind of indication to the audience that they are actually friends who like each other now, which is simply not there. this very much comes off as bad fanfic writing, where the author simply substitutes "banter" for any kind of actual friendship or relationship growth. or it comes off as the kind of playful rudeness with strangers that is common on the internet (and can be pretty frustrating and hurtful for the target of rudeness). i'm fine with mean jokes between friends, but there has to be a balance between mean jokes and genuine earnest character moments, which we just don't see (except for maybe ONE lore piece). drifter and eris have known each other for years at this point and still interact in exactly the same way, and have the same arguments and the same antagonistic conversations over and over again. from both a writer and audience perspective, this is just lazy and uninteresting.

two, their current writer ships them which makes it hard for me to interpret any of their current interactions without knowing the writer has romantic intentions. i know, i know, "separate the art from the artist," the author's intent doesn't need to be what i take from it, but it changes the way i view and read their interactions even though i dont ship them. i still know that the writer interprets their relationship as romantic and that impacts the way she writes their interactions. when eris calls drifter a derogatory nickname its meant to be romantic bc the writer thinks its romantic for them to have nicknames for each other. when drifter says "you keep calling" its meant to be romantic because the writer thinks its romantic for eris to hate him and yet be unable to stay away from him. and the thing is that the vast majority of people ARE picking up on this romantic coding and ARE reading their interactions as romantic. go to any destiny lore vault video of an interaction between them and all the comments will be "eris is such a tsundere" "'slur' and moondust!!! <3" "theyre so cute" "they need to get a room" etc.

i genuinely dont mean anything rude by this, because i do this to their relationship too, but i think what you describe is your own personal interpretation of why they act the way they do with each other, not the actual text. and again, thats not a bad thing! i do that too, because otherwise their relationship makes no fucking sense and is super boring! but imo, there is no greater meaning behind their interactions or some deep hidden and interesting friendship, it's just bad writing and heterosexuality lmao

EDIT: just read the new lore piece for this week and i actually like how their relationship is portrayed there. it’s “banter” that is respectful. again the problem still stands that there needs to be a balance, and two nice and genuine moments between them in lore books (which only people who really care about read) does not balance out the heap of negative ones that you get at the end of ketchcrash (which basically everyone is going to hear). idk if i’m just unwilling to give their current writer any credit but we do know different people write about the same topic so i can’t help but wonder if this and the eidolon lore (which is also a much more nuanced and friendly portrayal) was written by someone different than the person who writes their ingame dialogue

No I've been thinking about it and I believe drinking a vampire's blood turns a human into a vampire (it's been implied heavily that Yui needed blood in order to awaken), so I thought if other races could, it would be the same, and that the only way for some races to turn someone into one of their own is feeding them their own blood. Maybe the wolf clan (just suggesting, not really DL, just basic werewolf stories) and vampires can also turn others by biting them, but how would Adlers and Founders do it? (Of course, this is if they can) Perhaps the reason no one's ever been turned into a Founder is because their pride was stopping them. Maybe no one even knows if that's possible since their pride's way stronger than their curiosity. The Tsukinamis may have considered this if it was a legit solution that could 100% work, but if no one knows wether it's true or not, and the idea passed through their minds, would they try it? Or would their pride stop them from trying to find out the truth?

I'm afraid I really don't have anything to add here beyond my original answer. I have discussed the process of human's becoming vampires in DL previously in this post here.

As I said in that first post, I think if the Tsukinamis could turn a human with their blood then they would and I do not think this specific example, that isn't addressed in the games at all, should be used as proof the founders are too prideful (which they are but the evidence is already there, you don't have to reach for it). Given that we know vampires can turn humans, I would be extraordinarily surprised if the idea of using blood to turn someone had never occurred to Carla, even if it wasn't a practise that was historically done.

As for why this doesn't come up in the games, I've already said, it can't, because otherwise the Tsukinami brothers would not have needed Yui as badly and Rejet would not have had a good plot for DF.

If you disagree with me anon then that's absolutely fine, I am not claiming to know everything, this is just my interpretation of events and the characters and as this doesn't come up in canon there is nothing else I can offer you.

Just as a general point guys, I am happy to discuss theories about DL lore and talk about my own take on canon and how I think it translates into stuff like this. And if you don't agree with my takes on things, that's fine, everyone will read the text differently and I do not work for Rejet so ultimately I will never be able to 100% say what their intentions were.

However, if you want to try to persuade me that I'm mistaken in something I've said, I am going to need some evidence from canon or something so I can have a proper discussion about it, as if you just repeat yourself or give your own opinions with no evidence, I'm not going to have anything to add on other than "okay sure, you do you".

You are more than welcome to reblog my posts and add your own take so others can read it if you would like. However if you don't like or disagree with my opinion, there is no point in asking for it again on the same subject.

I'm sorry if this sounds rude at all, I don't mean it to be, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened, and, like I said, I just don't have anything else to add without new evidence (ideally with reference to where this information is from so I can look it up and learn for myself).

Anyway, I'm sorry if this wasn't what you wanted to hear anon, but I'm afraid I truly don't have any other opinions on this to offer you. I hope you have a good day.

If I’m to be frank… I think RGU just wasn’t your taste and that’s valid. But I don’t think it was executed sloppily or had bad writing. I think it’s worth seeing why many people find RGU great and/or impactful, because while it wasn’t for you, I don’t think that it’s nice to imply that other people’s tastes are questionable because they love RGU.

Hope this doesn’t come off as rude. You were rambling, but RGU means a lot to me so… I wanted to give a response.

So.... I do fully acknowledge that quite a few of my complaints with RGU do stem from certain choices/storytelling techniques that just aren't my personal taste (as I mentioned in the original post) however... I also fully stand by my opinion that it did have some poor execution and sloppy writing in certain aspects. I like to think I have decent enough media comprehension to tell the difference between just not liking something personally vs it being poorly technically done

I went into the series really, really wanting to enjoy it, and it was pretty much within the first episode or two that I realized no matter what, I wasn't going to. Part of this had to do with the heavy emphasis on the "slice of life" aspect (as this is not something I enjoy), as well as the storytelling techniques that were being used (heavy emphasis on repetition, extremely overt visual metaphors. etc). I do acknowledge that's all personal taste though, and has nothing to do with a series being good or bad. Regardless, I was a bit disappointed by that, but I did my best to keep good faith while watching because I know it's a series a lot of people really enjoy and think is good, and I wanted to understand why.

Unfortunately, I was pretty consistently let down. For starters, I think the series made the mistake of leaning far too heavily into the aforementioned storytelling techniques that it ended up with bad pacing. It was so focused on its patterns of repetition that it lost itself (and audience attention).

Beyond that, my main two complaints are the imbalanced way it tried to integrate anime-typical slice of life shenanigans and.... literally everything else it was trying to do, and, one of my least favorite things a piece of media can do, lean far too heavily into its own subjectivity to the point that it hindered itself.

I see what the series was trying to do in both those regards, but again, I don't think it did it as well as it could have, or even... that well in general. It's late for me and I have work in the morning, so I don't have time to write up everything I would like to say about this (hopefully I'll manage it in the next couple of days, as well as talk about the aspects of it I did actually enjoy) but that's the gist of my complaints.

Finally... So like, I get the series means a lot to you, and you don't have to agree with me, but I also don't have to agree with you. Just because a lot of people like the series or think it's impactful and put together well doesn't mean it fundamentally is. It definitely doesn't mean I have to think that.

My snarky comment of "I don't trust your media tastes if you tell me this is perfect high art" is a bit of an unfair generalized blanket statement that obviously has more nuance than that. I could have phrased that better, but tbf I wasn't expecting many ppl to read the rambling tags on an untagged post

However... sorry.... but a part of me is standing by that. I disliked the series, and did not think it was nearly technically as good as I've seen people tout it. Therefore, if I see someone very confidently talking about how much they like it and how good it is... It's safe to assume we have very different media preferences and criteria for what makes something technically good. That's fine, but I'm not going to trust a lot of other opinions about media from them, because we're likely to continue disagreeing. That feels like... a fairly logical conclusion to me but idk

I'm not the end all be all of media criticism. I'm not saying you have to agree with me, but I'm sticking by what I said. Sometimes people say/imply media I enjoy is bad, and therefore if I like it, that means I have bad taste and opinions on media. It happens when you're talking about media, especially on the internet. With something so subjective, there is never going to be a piece of media that everyone comes to the same conclusion on, and you kinda just have to learn to accept that.

Idk, I also hope this doesn't come across as too asshole-ish, I'm just saying I don't agree, and I don't think I have to acknowledge that "RGU is that good actually, I just didn't like it personally" if I want to criticize it because I don't think that
