So one note for the poster talking about the opinion of not policing redesigns unless they're harmful. It can actually be seen as disrespectful or harmful to POC communities to whitewash designs. It seems really small in the grand sense of an OC, but it definitely can fit into microaggression category even without intent behind it. That's why some species actually go as far as to put in the ToS that OCs made as POC must remain as such even in redesigns.

Diff anon than og but ok yeah people should be allowed to redesign a character w/e but I think if the design has a darker skin tone / is meant to be a poc it shouldn’t be lightened period. Darkened sure. Even if it’s not out of malice and is out of ignorance it’s still extremely uncomfortable as a poc in the community seeing one of my favorite bun’s doll form that has my exact skin tone be whitewashed asap after it changed hands.

Whitewashing is a major problem in cs communities where these rules are lenient and regardless of the intent it comes off as racist and imo it shouldn’t be allowed at all (this is a major failing on the mods part). By changing that characters skin tone to be lighter you are removing the modicum of representation we have inside the community, and while yes the og design isn’t deleted or anything it’s still uncomfortable and makes me reluctant to trade any of my designs bcoz of there being no protections against it.

personally if you don’t think the dark skin tone of a design fits your vision of said character and want to make it lighter- just get an myo, please.
