Sound familiar?
"After the First World War, the map of Europe was re-drawn and several new countries were formed. As a result of this, three million Germans found themselves now living in part of Czechoslovakia.
When Adolf Hitler came to power, he wanted to unite all Germans into one nation.
In September 1938 he turned his attention to the three million Germans living in part of Czechoslovakia called the Sudetenland. Sudeten Germans began protests and provoked violence from the Czech police. Hitler claimed that 300 Sudeten Germans had been killed. This was not actually the case, but Hitler used it as an excuse to place German troops along the Czech border.
Things that happened in September 1938:
Sept 7. On instructions from Hitler, Konrad Henlein broke off negotiations with the Czech government. Allegations of Czech police brutality at Moravská Ostrava were used as an excuse
Sept 7. A famously controversial editorial appeared in The Times which recommended giving Hitler what he wanted because "the advantages to Czechoslovakia of becoming a homogenous State might conceivably outweigh the obvious disadvantages of losing the Sudeten German districts of the borderland."
Sept 13. French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier asked Neville Chamberlain (leader of Czechoslovakia) to make the best deal he could with Hitler.
Sept 20. The Czechoslovak government rejected the Anglo-French proposal in a note explaining that acceptance would mean that Czechoslovakia would be put "sooner or later under the complete domination of Germany."
Sept 20. Hitler met with the Polish ambassador Józef Lipski and told him that Germany would support Poland in a conflict with Czechoslovakia over Teschen. Hitler also said he was considering shipping Europe's Jews to a colony (Israel, a colony for Europe's displaced Jewish population would be established in 1948) and expressed hope that Poland would cooperate with such a plan. Lipski replied that if Hitler could solve the Jewish question, the Poles would build a monument to him in Warsaw
September 26. In the Berlin Sportpalast, Hitler made a speech threatening Czechoslovakia with war. "My patience is exhausted", Hitler declared. "If Beneš does not want peace we will have to take matters into our own hands.
Sept 27th. The French government announced that France would not enter a war purely over Czechoslovakia. Neville Chamberlain gave a radio address saying, "However much we may sympathize with a small nation confronted by a big and powerful neighbor, we cannot in all circumstances undertake to involve the whole British Empire in a war simply on her account. If we have to fight it must be on larger issues than that
Sept 27. President Franklin Roosevelt writes to German Chancellor Adolf Hitler regarding the threat of war in Europe. The German chancellor had been threatening to invade the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia and, in the letter, his second to Hitler in as many days, Roosevelt reiterated the need to find a peaceful resolution to the issue.
Sept 29. German Führer Adolf Hitler, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier and Italian Duce Benito Mussolini met in Munich to settle the Sudetenland crisis. Czechoslovakia was not invited, neither was the Soviet Union.
Sept 30. Munich Agreement: At 1 a.m., the four powers at Munich agreed that Czechoslovakia would cede the Sudetenland to Germany by October 10. The territorial integrity of the rest of Czechoslovakia was guaranteed by all signatories. Neville Chamberlain flew back to Britain and declared "peace for our time"
I think we all deeply need to reconsider what we were taught about WW2. The allies who "saved" everyone from Hitler's camps are also the Same People who allowed him to get so much power in the first place.
Closer looks at these histories show they had their own motives for allowing it just like Biden does today. FDR & Biden are actually mirroring each other really well considering they're separated by time and death. FDR was pleading and asking Hitler to please stop doing war until Pearl Harbor cuz they had a good relationship like that :) Yeah, so all he really did up to that point was play arms dealer for France and Britain because he didn't wanna jeopardize his relationship with Germany by Directly getting involved.
Yeah.
See what I said about it sounding familiar?
And can I remind y'all that Hitler didn't start by saying he hated Jewish people. No.
You know what his plan was at first? A "Greater Germany" that would unify Germans across the territories that Germany was forced to concede after WW1.

i think the biggest problem i have with the whole team discourse in f&b + hotd is that it isn’t just about which characters you like more/who you want to sit on the throne at that end; it’s that each side is fighting for completely different ideologies, regardless of one members personal beliefs. grrm could not have made it anymore clear.
team black isn’t just fighting for rhaenyra to be queen, they’re fighting for the monarch’s right to choose an heir, for the oaths they swore years before, for the complete opposite of precedent/tradition: the king’s word is law. team green isn’t just fighting for aegon to be king, they’re fighting for tradition, that no matter the words of a king being law sons will always come before daughters, that oaths are fickle and don’t matter. each side is in some way fighting back against what’s already been established for the kingdom, but the end goal is completely different.
we’re not given as much insight into why most of the houses initially sided with rhaenyra, but we do have an inkling into how the green council felt and acted, however. jaehaerys choosing baelon over rhaenys (against andal tradition, the king can choose his heir) is one point. the great council of 101 is another. alicent, despite being the leader of the council, is removed from the equation and shoved off to the side when it comes to swearing oaths of loyalty between the members on account of her womanhood. daemon being a second coming of ‘maegor’ (despite what we know would be a better suited title for aemond, but i digress) is also used. when discussing who would side with them the vale is automatically disqualified from the list, due to them presently being ruled by a woman, jeyne arryn. she doesn’t choose to fight for rhaenyra for the sole reason of them being kin, but because her own right to rule can and will be put into question if aegon steps over rhaenyra. because she is a woman. she does so in spite of her dislike for daemon (and his supposed maegor-ness) too.
even if one were to look at each characters personal feelings about the succession the fact of the matter is that rhaenyra is usurped because she is a woman. it’s stated almost blatantly multiple times before and during the war. the greens use scapegoats and smokescreens in attempts justify it (her ‘bastards’ chief among them, but legally her sons live and die as the trueborn children between her and laenor, with the reminder that septon eustace refutes this claim to begin with). even when she is killed grrm has her breast pricked to arouse a dragon that doesn’t want to kill her (and why is that?). aegon ‘wins’ against her and is king, but then why is jaehaera, as his last living remaining child not named his heir? why is aegon iii put ahead of her, despite being the enemies son? these are rhetorical questions. aegon had no plans to ever consider her his heir, he made it clear with how excited he was to marry cassandra baratheon and produce more ‘strong’ sons. his dragon (who had fought and bled for him the entire war) wasn’t mourned properly, he couldn’t wait to hatch a ‘new dragon, prouder and fiercer than the last.’ yet he wasn’t even capable of doing that in the six months before he too was killed.
it’s also safe to mention that grrm created an entire separate lore story, one that would seem to have no bearing on the original story unless you’re capable of understanding symbolism. the amethyst empress is usurped by her younger brother the bloodstone emperor, and the first long night ensues from this decision. rhaenyra (amethyst = arryn blue + targaryen red) is usurped by her younger brother aegon ii (bloodstone = hightower green + targaryen red) and the dying of the dragons, the very creatures needed to stop the next long night, are eradicated, along with the magic needed to hatch them and keep them alive (until). the war is the blacks (power, death, grief, rebellion, restraint) versus the greens (ambition, greed, jealousy, anger, wealth). the amethyst empress is important to the main story in the same way that rhaenyra is important, that snubbing the women (an integral aspect to the power the targaryens held) of house targaryen can lead only to disaster. daenerys is the key, the one to break the cycle and fix the wrongdoings caused by her ancestors obsession with power. mother of dragons, mhysa, breaker of chains, slayer of lies, daughter of death, the dragon queen, azor ahai come again, the prince that was promised will bring the dawn.
you can argue for technicalities sake all day, but there is a meaning to this story beyond the scope of rightful heirs. and it shouldn’t be shoved off to the side just so you can praise your favorites and hate those who go against them. it makes for a poor consuming of the actual story. fire and blood was created as a history book to expand on daenerys as a character. her family, what and where she’s come from, and how she relates to them. she’s the antithesis to every targaryen that’s come before her, a hero in her own right. the only targaryen’s we can say are radically important to dany’s story are the conquerors (aegon the conqueror with teats) and rhaenyra (the amethyst empress). i don’t know, just some food for thought.

Can you talk a bit about tme/tma? I know what the terms mean, and I'm aware of the discourse surrounding them, but I still haven't decided how I feel about them. On one hand it's useful to have a term for someone who experiences transmisogyny as it tells you how valuable their input on the conversation may be compared to someone who doesn't, but on the other hand "tma" seems to just mean "transfem" in most contexts (they're not synonyms but if you claim you're tma while not being transfem you seem to attract suspicion/people won't believe you) and it seems reductive to claim that no one who isn't transfem doesn't experience transmisogyny (or their insight can be completely ignored)
Yeah I totally can because I have extremely strong feelings about them.
I think TMA and TME are functionally useless terms because people use them to mean "trans fem and not trans fem" or "AMAB and AFAB" with a different coat of paint. The way they are functionally used is as a new, useless, racist, intersexist, gender binary to for binary trans people to shove nonbinary people into and to shut down non-White and intersex perspectives in the trans community.
TMA as a term could potentially be an interesting vehicle to talk about a number of well deserving topics of discussion like the way transmisogyny crosses into racism - because Black cis and/or intersex women are often subjects of an intersection of transmisogyny and racism - but it's not. (Because it's born out of White Transfeminism and operates under a view of gender and race as completely separate axies of oppression and doesn't account for where they overlap)
EDIT to add more: But TMA could also be used as a vehicle for discussions on the overlap between transmisogyny and intersexism - my mind immediately goes to someone like @.dabwax who I've been following for years now and is an intersex lesbian with a beard who is regularly subject to transmisogyny - but it's not. (Because it's born out of Intersexist Transfeminism and operates under a view of trans issues and intersex issues as completely separate axies of oppression and doesn't account for where they overlap)
Even then, I think TME is the truly useless term because what is it's function beyond creating a division? What is it's function beyond shutting down a conversation that could actually potentially build a bridge of understanding between trans experiences? Because transmisogyny is not a solid wall of bigotry that zeroes in on every trans woman and only every trans woman, as previously stated. There is no easily defined category of people who aren't targeted or impacted by transmisogyny because there is no form of bigotry that can be so cleanly defined.
You don't have to be part of an oppressed group to be targeted by the same kind of bigotry that also impacts them. So if someone experiences transmisogyny they can just... Talk about it. Trans women and fems are absolutely placed in a powerless position within our society and within the queer community as a whole, but I don't think functionally creating another racist, intersexist, gender binary is actually going to help anyone besides the most advantaged White, perisex, etc. trans people.
So ultimately I think they're kind of silly and unsuccessful in their intended purpose because they are narrow and born out of defensive, exclusionary rhetoric and behavior. At least they are under the lense in which I view and understand the world and systems of oppression and bigotry.

Results of the nonbinary name survey
Hi folks, just thought I'd throw together a quick report about nonbinary names based on the recent survey.
The survey ran from 4th until 13th May, and there were 5,179 usable responses. For this one I won't share the full spreadsheet of all responses, as it contains potentially identifying information. Having said that, you can find a spreadsheet of the information I can share with you here. Every name entered only once has been redacted.
Most popular names
Let's kick it off with the main reason I did this survey, finding the nonbinaryest name:
Alex was #1, with 1.6%, which is 1 in 62 nonbinary people.

Name length
I'm familiar with the stereotype that nonbinary people choose names by taking 3 letters from a bag of Scrabble tiles, or that nonbinary people take letters off their given names until it's one ungenderable syllable, and I would like to take this opportunity to add that these are both excellent ways to create new names. :D
This graph takes a rolling median name length from the whole list, and it shows that generally speaking the most popular names tended to be shorter:
The average name length was 5.1 characters long.
This seems to support the stereotypes, but I feel it's worth mentioning that we can't know for sure whether it actually does, because for all we know, binary people's names might show these kinds of patterns too.
Number of names per person
Participants could enter as many names as they wanted, in a list separated by commas. That made it pretty easy to count them, and it turned out like this:
That's fairly straightforward, most people have only one name.
Problems with survey design
Overall I definitely feel that the survey had some flaws. I knew in advance that there would be some people who have more than one name that they like more or less equally, but for some reason the first question I came up with assumed that you have one name that you like most and then required a single answer from a list stating how that name happened to you - leading the respondent to a different section based on that answer.
What if you've got two or more names that you like equally, and one was given to you by your parents when you were born that you use for work, one is a nickname based on that name that evolved between you and your family and friends as you were growing up, and one is a name you chose yourself and your closest friends call you that? That's pretty much an impossible question, isn't it?
And there were several other questions in the survey that took that approach, making the data from those questions basically useless.
I didn't think it would cause problems for so many people, but it did, and I have learned my lesson there.
However, there was a question asking you to list all your names, and that's what I used to make the ranked list. I don't see how people with more than one name that they prefer completely equally (i.e. those people who would be thrown out of the survey by an impossible required first question) would prefer different names from people with one name only, so I think the ranked list is probably approximately okay, and same for the number of names per person graph and the average name length.
Implications
I haven't decided yet, but I definitely think there's scope for doing this survey annually - but separately from the identity/titles/pronouns survey, for anonymity reasons. It could be fun to track popular nonbinary names over time, similar to the popular name lists for babies that are usually split by boys'/girls' names. It might be a bit meaningless unless I collect country data as well though, which is why the list currently reads very....... American..........
Now that I've learned a lot from a big and not-so-well-designed survey run on my personal account, I'd feel more comfortable designing something a bit more fit for purpose, and running it from the @gendercensus accounts to hopefully get more participants.

pissed abt the new discord mobile update so heres my rant.
the new hud is ugly, laggy and impractical. the lil servers button will ALWAYS have a blue light unless you read every server message which is dumb. they should have an option to turn that off or revert it back to the old HUD (like how reddit has its current site and its "old site HUD" verision), it feels laggy to swap between servers and messages and its slow, making it hard to balance having two conversations at once. you cant even see which people are online in servers by swiping to the side anymore and have to press the search button (which takes a moment to even load, adding more to the lag factor), not to mention, messages look weird now since you ALSO cant side swipe to see whos online/status messages, you must press the search tab and then itll lag to load and show up like how instagrams messaging system does, with it separating the media sent, link and some other stuff. overly complex and unneeded.
not to mention, the new "midnight" color background doesnt even look midnight, you'd expect it to be pitch black on all parts but instead they made it blueish, which is dumb and knowing current discord, they'd put pitch black behind the discord nitro color themed backgrounds (which is also stupid but thats a whole other can of worms.)
overall the new interface is annoying, laggy, UGLY, and hard to traverse, the seperation of areas was unneeded, made worse by the fact that discord themself have said that a setting to make it go back to normal wont be made and if anyone doesnt like it, to delete their accounts. (most likely not caring due to the fact that they have no competition in purely texting apps), it is also full of glitches such as: people being able to send messages but it STILL being in the text box, being so laggy its unuseable and from what ive seen, nobody online is happy as it completely removes all user-friendly access to things and makes it generally hard to use.

hi, about the yunjin starbucks controversy.
i’m gonna try to be as fair as possible talking about this controversy, but i’ll be honest i’m leaning more on yunjin’s side. i’ve been getting several requests on yunjin and i feel like i need to get this off my chest every time i see her name on my page.
let’s start off with the facts: yunjin was caught drinking starbucks in Korea (in front of the company building.)
I thought she drank it on a post or somethrong but no, it was just a few pixels of a low quality picture fans took. And that’s my first minor problem; she wasn’t on live, it wasn’t a post, it was a few milliseconds of pixels. But I get the ‘performative activism’ controversy, it DOES feel like she’s hiding it.
However, my take is that she just got out from her car, and wanna know a little fun fact? Most snacks and drinks that all idols are seen eating are most likely bought by their managers. And it’s a fact that Koreans aren’t currently boycotting Starbucks as actively as western foreigners are. So my thought the first time I saw the picture was that. The manager probably just bought coffee from whatever shop was closest, and handed it to her.
But I do understand how that can feel like reaching so I did some more research .
The biggest thing I have to so called ‘defend’ Yunjin is that Starbucks Korea is completely separate from International Starbucks (source: ChosunBiz).
In 2021, 67.5% of Starbucks was comepletely bought by E-Mart (a branch of Shinsegae), and the rest 32.5% was bought by a Singaporean investment comapny (GIC).
So oh, Starbucks Korea has no affiliations with the part of Starbucks that sues their worker’s union.
However, I can make the argument that Yunjin could influence others to ignore the boycott and buy Starbucks. Is it true that she has several international fans and alot of impressionable fans? Yes.
But then we have to go back to our first argument; it was a few milliseconds of a low quality video.
And after finding that out, I started to feel like all the people commenting about “starbucks queen💕” and “omg whats your starbucks order?” is the problem.
YOU guys are the one promoting Starbucks at this point. Do you understand?
I’m not saying don’t hold someone accountable, no, but I’m saying the comments aren’t fucking helping.
Don’t get me wrong, I do live in Korea, and I have been actively avoiding purchasing from them because I saw a few posts on twitter referencing it. I based an activity on a twitter post. And wanna know when I figured out WHY I was supposed to boycott exactly?
After I deleted Twitter because of the stress I got from the app.
That’s when I finally found out about the BDS list, found out oh, Puma is on the list, McDonalds is an even bigger problem than Starbucks (directly supplying food to soldiers), HP APPARENTLY SUPPLIES TECH FOR THE ISRAEL GOVERNMENT, and oh wow! Starbucks isn’t even on the list because theres not enough proof that they financially fund Israel.
In conclusion, the people preaching about how Yunjin is a performative activist is such hypocrites themselves
It’s clear that while some of the comments and criticisms are genuine, trying to hold a person accountable, but its also clear that the repeat of the same mocking comments of Yunjin is just performative and for attention and likes.
That’s what pisses me off. People who don’t give a shit about Palestine, and people even if they do support Palestine not even doinng the bare minimum amount of research just having fun mocking (not criticizing) a person when a tiny bit of wrong doing is shown.
Please, go look in the mirror, and i dont like saying this but go touch grass, do your own research, dont base off your whole ideology on a reddit post or a twitter, tumblr post, read different variety of news articles from several companies, and THEN make your decision on a situation. Not only Starbucks, not only on Yunjin, but on several other ones too.
Media literacy. Look it up.

BUT OH MY GOODNESS YES YES YES, A THIRD BABY IS POSSIBLE!!!
I personally feel like Violet would be around 13-15, and Cecilia 9-10. (You can adjust with the age gap etc.) So they’d be a little older now, barely teenagers now.
Of course, the pregnancy was an unexpected thing. Both you and Leon never thought the two of you would have another baby, but nonetheless, the two of you had to deal with the consequences of your horny actions. 🙄
Violet and Cecilia would absolutely hate the two of you at first. Big sisters? Hell no. They’d literally run out of the living room yelling and slam the door to their separate rooms in frustrations. But what could the two of you do? Just wait and let them get over it…
At first, it was such a weird thing to them…Seeing their mom with a belly…Ew. And how Leon would give you double the attention made them get the ick, they were already used to y’all acting like horny teenagers but oh my god.
But alas, as soon as they met their little baby brother, oh, it was like it was the greatest thing in the world! The two of them would constantly beg to hold him, fighting over who gets to unfreeze the milk from the fridge and make him a bottle.
They’d both play with him, volunteer to even take him off of your hands for the day. (Which never lasted because they regret it as soon as he has a stinky diaper.) The two would also very much criticize his outfit choices. Every single onesie and little outfit you put on him had to be approved by his big sisters.
I also feel like they’d come up to you in the middle of target with a bunch of baby toys and clothes saying that he’d absolutely love them, and you just had to sign and give in.

Leon and his wife would even be shocked they could have babies still... Not unhappy but you'd look him dead in the eyes and tell him "I'm getting my tubes tied or you're getting a vasectomy. No more kids."
Violetta (12) would definitely want nothing to do with the baby at first. She's almost a teenager and her parents having another kid at their DECREPIT AGE?!
So Embarrassing 🙄
Cecilia (8), still very young and impressionable would probably just be following her sisters lead but secretly be excited to finally have some to boss around.
But Violet (being the older pain in the ass sister she is) would probably get to Lia and drill it into her head that middle kids get forgotten and oh nooo she's the middle child
Make her sister cry, get grounded and her phone taken away for that.
But once their mother starts showing, Lia comes around immediately. Cuddles up with mommy on the couch whenever she can just to be close to the baby. Violets still super hesitant and not happy about it. Especially every time her dad shows you affection and like... Bucket loads of affection.
He missed seeing you pregnant. That pretty glow you'd always exude even just existing in his presence. And your cute pregnant waddle! He could go on for hours how much he loves when you're pregnant. This is a completely new experience for Lia, Violet hardly remembers what happened when you were originally pregnant with Lia . She was way too young to remember.
Time comes around when you find out the babies sex, Leon fully preparing for a 3 for 3 on the princess counter.
It's a boy... He's devastated at first. He really wanted another girl. But you on the other hand are relieved. You wanted a little boy. Not that you don't love your daughters it just be nice to have a son too. Eventually he's okay, especially after you tell him this means you need to have more renovations done to the house so there's room for the new baby. That means a new room to make into a nursery, something they didn't get to do with Lia but this time around they will.
Closer to the due date you start going over names for the baby. Leon suggesting Marvin as a middle name, you know the context of it and accept it immediately. Everyone starts throwing names around, Violet staying quiet. Lia suggests calling him Puppy...
"That's not a name honey." You chuckle at her suggestion when Violet looks at Leon.
"What's your middle name Dad?"

You and Leon look at each other and smile. Agreeing it's a good name.
Time comes around to have the baby. Violets still against the kid, Lia's bouncing off the walls excited to meet her baby brother. You give birth and the girls are allowed in the room finally.
Both girls look mostly like a good mixture of the two of you... Leon could never deny Scott as his son (he never would) because the kid looks exactly like him. Dusty Brown hair from his younger years, cute little nose, big blue eyes and a butter ball of a chunky baby. He's absolutely precious.
Lia gets help from Leon to hold him since she's still younger. Violet keeps her distance until she walks over to check on you and make sure you aren't too tuckered out. Leon basically traps Violet between a chair and her only escape, offering her to hold her brother if she sits down. She agrees just to get this over with.
She has little Scott in her arms. He looks up at her smiling with those big blue eyes... 3. 2. 1...
She's crying. Won't stop talking about how cute he is or how much she loves him already. You and Leon share a look before he tries taking the baby back.
"He needs skin to skin time with mommy." She whines, reluctantly handing him over.
After that day you basically have two live in nanny's. Both girls wanting to help.

Reasons why we think the 26th bday message was from bunny laoshi. 🗒️
I know that a lot of us don’t need “reasons” to even cpn that xz made this letter, but it’s still fun to look at the clues that make the conclusion much stronger. a lot of us just knew once we read it, who the author is. as with all other candies, if you believe it, you do. if you don’t — there is no amount of evidence that will change your mind.
i’m so happy that the bday letter is back, last year was understandable (considering what was going on) so to have it this year made everyone emotional. as usual, it’s a beautiful letter. i am thankful that yibo is loved. that aside from us fans, he has someone close to him, who adores him that much to write something like that for him.
this post is only for the letter, not the bday photo/art. that will be a separate discussion.
A HISTORY,
As with most candies, context is key. We don’t usually react this much without it having some story behind it. There is almost always a pattern. The “birthday” message first popped up for Bobo’s 23rd bday. Then 24 and 26. You could say anyone can make a birthday message — but this is different. It’s way too personal and the way it’s written, to us who pay attention, is very xiao zhan. There were already CPNs for the past 2 years, so we were actually just waiting for the 26th bday letter — and boy did it not disappoint!
• They all start with saying hello to the *age* Yibo. It’s like this person wants to be the first one to greet WYB in his new year of life.
• The way it’s constructed is very similar. It starts with a recap for the year, what WYB has gained from the past and wishes for the future. I have to say that the 2020 letter was the start and then it evolved into what it is today because of the time they spent together. XZ now has more and more things to say.
• The message of growing up slowly is also there. I think XZ really wants this for him, that even if WYB had to “grow up” faster than other people his age, even if he has so many responsibilities — that he still gets to enjoy his youth. 🫶🏼
Even if you let someone else read this letter, and you tell them, “it’s from their s/o”, they will believe you. To those who look at it and think it’s an employee, i don’t even know what to say. You don’t even have to believe that it’s XZ, but it is most definitely WYB’s significant other. Look at UNIQ_OFFICIAL weibo account birthday caption, that’s what employees do.
Now onto the “reasons”. I have listed a couple and I know there might be more out there but here are the ones that made us 😭😭😭😭:
1. My absolute favorite part of the letter:
In the past year, you've gradually learned to relax while working hard and understood how to face the world with a gentler attitude. You've been willing to watch the stars while hurrying forward. You've been willing to enjoy a pouring rain happening one afternoon. You've been willing to quietly see the horizons at the other side of the sea. You've been willing to stop for a beautiful sunset.
A person who knows you will only be the one to write this. The level of understanding XZ has for WYB is just. I can’t. He really loves him. The things he decided to use : stars, pouring rain, sea and sunset is so THEM. He might as well add the moon to have the whole cpf symbol set completed. 😂😂😂
And for comparison, XZ wrote these words in his Oasis for the DC wrap-up:
There are two pictures that I really like, one is the beach outside of the Xiangshan hotel balcony, another is the scenery from the highway in the middle of the Hengdian Xianju forest where we frequently ran. These two different places and different views are both places that comforted me when I was lost and helpless. When I was down, I would sit on the balcony, and the sea breeze, the beach and the moonlight would give me the answer; when I was tired, I could rest on the path in between the forest scenes, and upon opening my eyes I would see the raindrops and the fog that would also give me the answer: in each and every moment, I chose to not complain or be negative, I put my all towards each choice and decision I make;
It’s how freakin descriptive he is. He has a way with words that make you “feel” what he is saying or even see it.
2. This part too, about stopping. Slowing down. It’s the same thing XZ said before. Plus in a couple of XZ’s videos, you will see shots of him admiring the sunset.
Time never pauses, but you seem to know the secret of making the world stop occasionally. You use your calmness and poise to welcome and get in touch with the world. Yibo, sunsets are beautiful, just like every dusk that you missed when you focused on forging forward.
AND THE “Yibo,” OMG. I can hear XZ’s voice in my head saying it. It’s too intimate. I know it’s his name but the way it’s written here — Are we even supposed to read this? It feels too personal 😭😭😭
But my answer is always, WYB wants to show off. He wants us to feel single. I’m in a long term relationship and even I felt single 😂😂😂😂
3. “The small number has changed again” referring to his age. There might be no hidden meaning, but some cpfs interpret this as the person who wrote it is older than him. Because he considers yibo’s age as “smaller” than his. Hello to their 6-year age gap. 👋🏼
4. There is 🎂 emoji in this letter compared to previous years. We think it’s because WYB is at home and they are celebrating together, no need to send a virtual cake. There is also some talk of XZ not being photographed today (8.4) on set. I won’t go to that part of Weibo but the fact that some people are nervous that he is suddenly MIA so close to Yibo’s bday is 👀
5. WYB went online for a bit, we thought he was gonna pull the same stunt he did last year and remove the automatic weibo bday post. He didn’t. What did he look at? The love letter? 🤔
6. Someone asked where was the quote “"stay cool, grow up slowly" on Baidu and the most popular answer is it’s from a book 君生我已老. We know XZ is fond of reading. I found a synopsis, and well, interpret it as you will…..
Excuse the google translate but you get the gist. It’s synopsis is also kind of similar to his drama SUNSHINE WITH ME. The part of age gap. Meeting and falling in love then having to separate, only to meet again. So if I’m to speculate that XZ got it here and liked it, maybe that’s why he chose to film SWM even if he has lots of scripts sent his way.
7. Similar with GG, who does not look at challenges in a negative way. How he regards it as a part of life and something he has to overcome.
Just regard all the adversities as the numerous mountains you have to climb and the endless waves you have to ride.
8. I don’t have to explain it that much. They both have a thing for “living with no regrets.” It’s all over their interviews.
As a young man full of mettle, you have no regrets.
I will stop right here. Again, to a lot of us, Xiao Zhan might as well sign his name at the end of the post and we would be like — Okay, we knew that. LOL.

seireitei HR department chronicles - pt 1
Summary: It’s your first week at your fancy new HR job. And your first ever complaint is already the most bizarre situation you had ever dealt with

The room was silent except for the periodic tick, tick, tick of the wall clock. You wished there was some sound to fill the empty space, maybe then you wouldn’t have to stew in the horror of the words that had just left Captain Hitsugaya’s mouth.
You watched the snow-haired Captain slouch in the seat before you, arms crossed and shoulders hunched. His face was twisted into a deep scowl, lips pursed. The skin of his cheeks was slightly dusky, showing that he was, in fact, embarrassed by the account he had just given you.
You cleared your throat, trying to form words with a tongue you felt was completely paralyzed. You stared at the form in front of you that you were trying to fill, the large “COMPLAINT FORM” written on top seemed almost comical considering the complaint in question was-
“I’m just going to tick the ‘personal’ box in ‘Nature of The Problem’.” You choked out. Captain Hitsugaya looked affronted.
“It’s not personal, it’s professional.” He said. “I was in my office. That’s a professional space.”
“But, um-” You felt like crying. “I don’t think Lieutenant Matsumoto accidentally flashing you is a…. professional problem.”
The Captain’s cheeks flamed even more, a petulant pout settling on his face. “An accident, my ass. How does that even happen accidentally-”
“She was sleeping.” you argued weakly.
That made him perk up, as if you just gave him a gotcha. “And why was she sleeping in my office during office hours? Actually, I want to file a separate complaint about that.”
Before you could protest, he had reached across the desk to grab the form you were filling, then reached for another one and plucked the pen right out of your hand. You watched helplessly as he scribbled in the details of his problem, secretly grateful you didn’t have to write all of that out.
Curse Captain General Yamamoto Genryuusai for making an HR Department and then putting you in charge. Your first week, and your first complaint, and it had to be the kid captain complaining about his grown Lieutenant snoring on his office couch with her chest on display.
You didn’t even know what the protocol here was.
“Has this happened before?” You asked, hoping to gain some guidance on how to deal with this.
“Too many times.” He mumbled back, focused on the paper before him which he was furiously scratching letters on. He sounded so grumpy it nearly made you laugh.
“So what did you do before this?” You continued.
He rolled his eyes. “Nothing. I would scold her and hope to god I never had to witness that again.”
You looked at the huge “Seireitei Code” that Squad 1 had delivered to you on your first day there. It was thick as a brick and contained every rule on the Gotei and what exactly to do when violation of rules occured. Granted, it was for more severe violations like murder or serious bodily harm. You could guarantee with your whole ass that there was nothing in there about flashing your captain.
How the fuck were you supposed to talk about this with Lieutenant Matsumoto?
Once Captain Hitsugaya had left, after many assurances on your part that you would personally have a sit down with his Lieutenant on the seriousness of the problem, you slumped into your chair and buried your face in your hands. This had to be a joke. This couldn't be the potential the Captain Commander saw in you. There’s no way he created this department knowing you had to solve sexual harassment cases between a literal child and a grown woman.
On second thought, maybe that's exactly why he made an HR department. You imagined the Captain Commander of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, the most powerful man in Soul Society, having to deal with squabbles like this on a near weekly basis. Jeez. No wonder the man needed a buffer to take matters off his hands.
Try as you might, you couldn't see a way out of this without physically having the Lieutenant in your office to air out her Captain’s grievances. You knew a written warning wouldn’t suffice. If you knew anything about the bubbly woman, it was that she wouldn’t take an office document seriously. There was a good chance she wouldn’t bother to read it at all.
You didn't know how exactly to confront Lieutenant Matsumoto about the predicament she had found herself in. And it almost annoyed you that you were somehow more uncomfortable with this than she was. She nearly giggled when you read through the report. You on the other hand, wanted the ground to swallow you whole.
“Do you understand where he is coming from?” Your whole face was hot after having read out the complaint Captain Hitsugaya had written out, looking anywhere but directly at the Lieutenant’s face.
“Yeah but,” she scratched the back of her head, pouting slightly. “I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“A rule violation is still a rule violation, Lieutenant.”
She sighed and stretched, nodding but looking unconvinced. “It’s hard to really control any part of your body when you are asleep, though.”
“Uh, about that.” You rifled through the papers on your desk to hand her the other complaint her Captain had written out. “He also reported you for sleeping excessively on the job.”
Matsumoto pouted and whined at that, looking almost offended by the piece of paper dangling before her face. “Aw, come on! Captain can get so mean sometimes. Do you know how much paperwork I have to do? I can’t even take a little nap?”
You knew for a fact that Captain Hitsugaya was carrying Squad 10 on his shoulders. He finished the work of three people every day by himself.
“Lieutenant…” The tone of your voice was so defeated it made her sigh.
“Okay, okay. Fine. I will try to not fall asleep. And I’ll keep the girls tightly wrapped up. That okay?”
“Please refrain from calling them that in a professional setting.” You corrected weakly, feeling weary to the bone. You almost missed defending Ikkaku and Yumichika when they beat up 20 people and ended up in Squad 4 with broken limbs. Surely, anything would be better than this.
“Okay! Jeez.” She sniffed, standing up. “Can I leave now?”
You nodded, watching her make her exit and slumping forward until your head hit your desk. Your forehead stung at the contact. You looked at the report in front of you, Lieutenant Matsumoto’s signature next to the acknowledgement of her poor behavior. Your lips twitched.
Giggles erupted from your throat as the hilarity of the situation finally caught up with you, bending over to grip your stomach as tears leaked from your lash line. Fucking hell.
This would be a good story to tell at parties.

im sure you probably get asked this a lot, but i have no idea what the whole deal with israel and palestine is
the only thing ive heard is from someone i overheard next to me in a lecture that palestine terrorists attacked israel or something but im starting to think im missing a lot of important context with that
Hi, thanks for sending this in. I've had this in my inbox for a while now because I feel like I didn't know where to start. There is this new crash course online that educates about history and information regarding Palestine's colonization and the history leading up to October 7th, 2023. I recommend taking a look at this resource first:
Generally, a quick rundown is that on October 7th, a group of resistance fighters launched a coordinates attack on the state of Israel and took some hostages back to Gaza. They had done this specifically because Gaza was experiencing a critical point on the 20 year seige the Israeli state imposed on them — even before this they were struggling to find clean water and their economy was severely damaged since their imports were calculated by the calorie by Israel. So they were starved and malnourished, many people with medical issues were not granted access to seek help outside of Gaza if they needed specialized care.
In 2018, Gazans had launched the "Great March Of Return" where they marched en masse to the militarized fence separating Gaza and "Israel." This was, by all accounts, a peaceful protest, though the Israeli government responded with brutal force, killing children as small as 2 years old and elderly people as old as about 80 years old.
This had gone on for a while in 2018, after every Friday prayer, and hundreds died. Even if they were not killed, a large number of them were critically wounded. There are many Palestinians disabled from bullet wounds, and the Israeli government purposefully does not allow them to seek treatment if they require it.
This, coupled with the estimation that Gaza would be absolutely unlivable in a couple years, caused an armed resistance to break out, which is what you hear with the "terrorists" attacking Israeli settlements. Now the reports of who killed Israeli civilians is widely argued, with many claiming that Hamas (some of the resistance fighters) did not kill the majority of Israeli casualties, like in this account from a survivor in which they described that the majority of deaths from the kibbutz were because of Israeli indiscriminate firing:
I can't say I totally understand what is going on now with the resistance fighters, but I know that Israel has tried, and failed, a number of times to invade gaza, always getting fended off by the resistance.
Now, gazans are suffering collective punishment where they are bombed indiscriminately in residential areas, hospitals, and schools, all under the excuse that there are "Hamas tunnels" they wish to destroy that lie under Gaza. They provide no evidence of this — they just claim it and drop the bombs. About 10,000 Palestinians have died from the bombing, many of them in pieces, about half of them children. They are also suffering an unprecedented siege where absolutely NO water, fuel, or food is allowed in Gaza (except for like 20 trucks one time) since October 7th. Gazans are reported to have completely run out of clean water. A vast majority of them are showing symptoms from drinking dirty water like vomiting and diarrhea. The water in Gaza does not work, so they are suffering from sanitation issues that will no doubt make the spread of disease proliferate.
I can go on about the issues the Gazans face, but you can scroll through my blog to learn more. Right now Gaza is suffering a humanitarian crisis and genocide. Palestinians in the west Bank are getting arrested en masse, tortured and humiliated by Israeli police and settlers. They are also getting shot randomly. Right now is the collective effort to completely erase Palestinians off the face of the earth, led by Israel and the United States, all for their own selfish interests.

Another new blog… it’s been about a year since I deleted my blog. The one I’ve had since I was 18. The one I grew up with. The one I vented on, posted countless pictures of myself, learned about myself. And holy fuck, the amount of shit that has happened in the last year is intense.
I got divorced. C put me through the wringer. I didn’t know if I would make it out, but I’m doing so much better than I ever imagined. He continues to show his true colors - he got engaged less than a year after we separated, his fiancée has attempted to get into a yelling match with me, he continues to put our daughter at risk, amongst a whole list of things he’s done. I’ve learned the art of disengagement and it’s so healing (also, I finished therapy and my therapist told me how much healthier I am now mentally)
I got a new job. I think this happened prior to me deleting my old tumblr. Doesn’t matter as much. BUT I work when I want, and can spend any and all my time with my daughter which has been a complete life changer. Leaving the only job I’ve known for 10 years hurt more than I expected, especially since it wasn’t planned, and I was basically booted out of there due to them just absolutely trying to destroy me, but it was such a godsend of a misfortune.
I sold my house. C’s only claim to hurt me was the house (other than our daughter that we share). He didn’t own it, but wanted a piece of it in the divorce because it was worth a lot in equity. I just said fuck it, sold it, rebuilt my life, and I’m now looking at houses with my partner.
I got a new boyfriend. He’s an absolute gem of a human. He’s made me realize what I want in a partner. He’s made me realize I’m not nonmonogamous. He’s made me realize that I can have a partner that fulfills me in every sense of the term. He loves me, he loves my daughter, and he puts up with the crazy that occurs in my life.
I don’t know if I’ll actually be on tumblr like I used to be. I deleted all social media, except Instagram, because I found out C was stalking me (and even after I locked all my accounts, he made fake ones - which, at 30 years old and as the man who wanted to end the relationship and was cheating on me, is a little obsessive). I just wanted to restart fresh. I’m so happy with life, I’ve never been so full of love and hope and just life in general, and thus, I’m back, I guess?

Thoughts on Anders going from being very outgoing and flirty fun in the dlc to being a bit more introverted and careful in da2? Is it bc he and Justice has merged, his mental health degrading, or his new "freedom" turned into a new kind of prison?or anything else? Or all of them? God I love the anders meta
lots of thoughts! most prominently, i think anders has literally become a whole other separate person as well as himself, on account of being possessed. i do very much consider anders to also be justice throughout da2, not just when he starts glowing. imo that shows in, like, all their dialogue. i mean, let’s reverse the question: why is anders-justice’s dialogue in da2 so outgoing and flirty when justice is so serious and literal in awakening? because now anders is also there. so why is anders-justice more serious and literal than awakening anders? because justice is also there. here’s some quick comparisons of location comments from justice to anders-justice:
that’s justice, right? he’s in there! i’m not saying anders isn’t there, too, it sounds a lot more like anders in tone because it’s coming through anders, but these are just the ones i picked as being obviously justice-y when you make the comparison. you can see it in a lot of the companion banters, too. for example, justice finds it very difficult to agree to disagree or laugh off a challenge in the way anders used to be able to, which i think comes through most obviously with fenris and merrill, but a lot of the others, too. awakening justice often has several connected banters in succession; once he gets a thought into his head, once something distresses him abt one of his companions, he can’t let it go or leave it alone, because he’s still figuring out how to navigate the fact that people are complex and incongruous and so is the world they live in. he thinks everything is black and white and if he just explains enough then everyone can understand. which is far more like da2 anders-justice than something like this:
in da2 making these kinds of comparisons between others and himself is still his go-to method of trying to convince people, it’s a very anders move, but the way he backs off here is not something justice or anders-justice is capable of. awakening anders tries to let everything glance off him. having justice kind of cripples his ability to use that defence mechanism. i mean, that’s half the point of the whole possession. letting justice possess him was about taking the injustices done to the mages seriously and doing something about it. but it also makes him incapable of playing it off as a joke like he used to, he has to take everything personally
another example of justice in da2 anders-justice dialogue is the way he believes in atonement and retribution, that actions must have consequences even if he’s not always certain how it should actually happen in the real world and he struggles to understand real world context. justice has related conversations with nathaniel and sigrun about their criminal pasts, but for quick comparison’s sake, here’s banters with velanna and isabela:
a lot to say here but my point is not to make judgements, mainly just to compile evidence that justice is always a part of him? and the personality change really makes complete sense when you look at it from that angle. how would that not change how you act. anders-justice saying things that awakening anders would never have said is no less surprising imo than anders-justice saying things justice would never have said (and anders-justice does sound like awakening anders way more than people give him credit for)
otherwise, the mental health Situation is definitely also part of it. he’s not doing well. lirene says she’s never seen him smile. but i also think it’s a mistake to think awakening anders is even comparatively a paragon of mental health because, oh boy! he’s manic he’s so so angry right under the surface he’s fresh out of a year in solitary confinement. he NEEDS you to like him and to not take him seriously because people thinking he’s charming and harmless is literally the only reason he’s alive but also it would kill him to purposefully be what an authority figure who controls whether he lives or dies wants out of him so he’s settled for being funny with increasing desperation. you could make a whole other post out of this. my point is i just think it’s a misread of anders to be like “oh he was completely fine and normal in awakening and then it really went downhill between that and da2 and that’s why he’s not as funny now”. if that makes sense? the funnymanning was the symptoms all along i am afraid

I'm just ranting into the void about Led Zep, post TSRTS clarity.
Feel free to read how I vomit my feelings, or not. TW: mentions of drugs, death, EDs.
I hate getting too into my interests because now I feel bad knowing so much about Led Zep's members as people, and not seeing them simply as personas on a stage – which is ironic because that's the whole point of getting to know more about my interests, but it just feels... Bad.
Maybe it's just me being a new fan and all these things that are now dawning on me are well-known in the fandom or amongst older fans lmao, but I need to let my feelings out somewhere! And I think here is a good place, since I've been blessed by nothing else than heartwarmingly nice mutuals.
For example, after reading about the personal relationships between members, mostly out of curiosity, it's said from the begining that Led Zeppelin didn't start as a band between friends; Jimmy needed a band to continue an already booked tour he had from before the Yardbirds broke up — he knew Jonesy and then found Robert and Bonham, therefore he created LZ from a professional need. Which is... You know, understandable.
The thing about me discovering this is that, I guess it made me realise that it wasn't the best time in the world for any of them, as one would suppose it was from an outer point of view. Robert himself talks about the "Led Zep times" as something that brings dark memories back, rightfully so; Bonzo lived with constant anxiety, addictions and homesickness, Jimmy had horrible addictions and problems with anorexia (if I'm not mistaken), and Jonesy didn't feel comfortable at all around the ambiance of hedonism, drugs and sex that was created around the band, he was an introvert whose personality collided with the rest of the group's.
I guess I thought of them as the idealised version that is their stage personas, where they all get along perfectly well and they're all friends jskwjwkw.
Just thinking about the deeper, more hidden part of them as people makes me appreciate them more, I suppose. It makes me appreciate Robert's solo career in which he could expand himself with the music he liked making, or Bonzo being a complete sweetheart to Robert when Karac passed away, amongst other things.
I don't think there's a clear conclusion about this little rant of mine, it's the first band ever in which I take my time to actually know each member closely, read about them and understand that bands are simply not perfect as so aren't people, no matter how good of an artist they are.
A while ago, early when I started liking LZ, I read about Jimmy and Robert because I was blown away by them, and I won't lie, I was destroyed by the revelation of Robert's infidelity and Jimmy's... Taste in girls. (Sorry! I'm not completely comfortable by saying it appropriately, as I'm a grooming victim myself, but you know what I meant.)
It felt really, really bad to have two people you looked up to as literal rock gods, taken down that altar by discovering that... Eh, they aren't exactly the best people. It kind of made me think about the whole thinking process of separating the art from the artist, the moral battle inside myself because I felt guilty for liking them, and then ending up accepting that some things are simply out of my hands and I can't really do anything about them other than be conscious about what I enjoy, and hold people accountable. The best thing I could do about absolutely loving Led Zeppelin was criticise it, and not look up at them as untouchable beings of perfection.

I just finished reading @shychick-52 fanfic and I can't stop thinking about it (The Master Wand)
I don't have an account on ao3 BUT I really want to give you my feedback because OH MY GOD WHAT WAS THAT (I left kudos in each one of the chapters btw)
I LOVED IT SO MUCH
THE ANGST AAHAVSVHBWV‼️‼️‼️
As a fanfic writer myself (in portuguese of course) it's so hard for me to create real interesting stories based in the original work, and that's one of the reasons I don't write since last year, BUT YOU'RE SO CREATIVE OMG THAT WAS SO GOOD
It truly felt like an expansion of STF, but of course, more mature considering what happens within the story. I admire so much these fic writers who can expand the original universe, explore the characters without bringing them too far from their original personality, you did an amazing job creating a post-end fic and everything there makes so much sense and is well explored, to the point that it seems like it was written by professional screenwriters
The way you explored Cedric's feelings about the events in the last season just feels so right. I didn't thought too much about it when I watched the show but now reading your fic it makes a lot more of sense. Sofia's speeches are just like Sofia's speeches inside the show, the way she wants to carry the world in her back despite being too young for that.
Even after what Wormwood did in the show I just couldn't hate him, and I saw some people online saying how much they hate him and while understanding their reasons, I just don't feel any hate for him. But ohh your Wormwood
That little shit made me want to squeeze him in my hands, that bird brought me anger in so many levels
I think I get it now, that's how the part of the fandom who hates Wormwood sees him. It makes sense
And what can I say about Grimtrix. Even knowing that official Grimtrix is not that cruel it just fits him very well and his personality somehow matches with what you wrote.
And I need to separate a whole part of the post just to talk about the angst, that was so good
It wasn't too much, you didn't completely ruined the characters' lives and drained their pain for us to watch (because I've read fics like this in the past, it's not really something bad, but the fact that you could write without making it too much or even tresspassing (too much) the limits of the show it's really impressive), everything you wrote has a reason and the characters react the way they would do if those events happened inside the show.
(just an observation: I know that scenes like these wouldn't be inside a Disney show made for preschoolers, and that's also something so impressive because you DID IT and IT MAKES SENSE. The characters make sense, the story makes sense).
I loved how you added the angst scenes because they always left me so shocked. I don't like to see my favorite characters suffering but at the same time I like how we can explore their reactions and their true feelings when they're vulnerable. I knew that this fic was going to be good when the Order Of The Wand appeared and they chained Cedric. I was like "WHAT THE HELL THAT'S VERY HEAVY FOR STF" (in a good way cuz I was impressed) and when Grimtrix started to hit him and that serious scene got agonizing, your fic got all my respect. I really wasn't expecting that and I was unprepared just like Sofia was, that was the moment that I knew that this fic was going to be amazing because you were brave enough to write this, and even better, without flaws because it fits the characters.
You could just have wrote Grimtrix as this cruel guy who wanted to torture Cedric but you gave him a reason. I mean, yes, a very cruel reason, but that's expected from a villain. The events in your fic just impressed me every time something new happened. I MEAN CEDRIC SWEARING?? THE ORDER OF THE WAND BLACKMAILING HIM??? GRIMTRIX TAKING SOFIA??
I swear to you I just read that chapter and when I got to the "out of sight, out of mind" line I literally physically covered my mouth and stopped reading for a second because that took me by surprise. Actually no, I read that line and my eyes ran for a moment through Cedric's thoughts part and that's when that happened. At the moment I'm in a place where I shouldn't be reading but I just couldn't hold my reaction. That's by far my favorite STF fic, the best one I've ever read.
I know that their suffering will end so I don't feel so bad about enjoying these scenes, because of the wonderful writing, the plot, the characters so close to canon. And seeing Winifred and Goodwyn watching what happened was so sad too. I have a feeling that Cedric will try to rebel against the ootw and he's not going to succeed, and the things will get worse for him and/or Sofia (you totally should write that)
Greylock feeling sorry for what happened to Cedric really fits his character very well, and the reason of why he took over his kingdom maintained the canon part while also adding fanon stuff that matches incredibly.
I just wanted to make a small comment about noticing that the Order Of The Wand is just like Akatsuki from Naruto but in STF and I couldn't stop laughing because it makes so much sense XD
Fun fact: sometimes I'm not really in the mood for reading in english since it demands a little more from my brain (other people not born in an english-speaking country will understand) and and I surrendered to google's mobile option to translate the page. So know that someone in the world (me) have read parts of your story in portuguese nsbskqnshsj
Also Cedric being Sofia's godfather was so sweet. Him feeling guilty about "betraying" the kingdom again by staying at the ootw side was so good too. When I read that I really thought that Roland and Miranda In the future would notice that Cedric betrayed them again and they would think that he was just faking being nice this whole time, only making Cedric feel even worse inside because he can't tell them the truth or else Sofia will be in danger. And Sofia can't tell her parents the truth either or else Cedric will be in danger. But thank god Goodwyn noticed what happened and explained it to them so it won't happen.
Basically I loved every single part of your fic and I'm looking forward to new chapters. Don't wanna press you of course! Write in your time. But I'll be waiting patiently for the next chapter because that was so good. I hope this works as encouragement as I know how important it is for the author to receive feedback, and I related to you when you asked for comments because I understand how you feel. Hearing what readers think is really important.
