Suddenly remembered a headcanon of mine from a while back about how Cedric rarely, if ever, drinks around people because of how embarrassing he gets. He's already treated as a joke, imagine if he made a fool of himself when drunk...but he probably drinks alone in his tower sometimes. Never in the workshop, of course...he made that mistake once and that's the last time he's making it. I think he'd be the type to drink away his emotions.

I love the idea of Cedric not only feeling belittled by Roland, but also envious of him.
"How can he treat me like this and still be praised as the king? I deserve this more than him. I don't mock anyone like he does to me. And who does he think he is? He's the perfect prince/king that can't do any harm to anyone or anything, ever. How can he get all love and attention despite being such a despicable person towards me? How does the universe never turns it's back at him and make him pay for what he did to me? I'm the victim here. He doesn't deserve his titles, the love he receives from people, his castle. I do. That's why I will show it to him, I will show to him and to all those stupid people, that Cedric The Great is capable of being a greater king them he is. And if that doesn't work, I won't be afraid of making them fear me. Because they deserve this treatment. And I deserve to have my revenge. The universe KNOWS that I deserve it."
And everything get's worse if you consider that headcanon of Queen Lorelei (Roland's deceased wife) being Cedric's Sofia before Sofia was born. Because she was the only one who understood and respected him, along with her beauty and kindness, Cedric fell in love with her, but she was in love with Roland. She married him and died having his children too. And if you consider this headcanon, Cedric must have felt absolutely enraged and desolate.
His anger towards Roland is even bigger if you consider that Cedric was in love with Lorelei. She choose Roland over him (which Cedric understood that was totally her choice, and they were both from royalty, they were meant to be. But he got mad at the world, how his life did those things to him, and how again and again the universe kept giving everything that Cedric 'deserved' and wanted to Roland). The love of his life choose Roland over him, but it was okay. Then they got married, Lorelei, being his best friend, spoke to Cedric about wanting to have a family but nothing that she and Roland were doing was working, and even asked him if he had spells or potions that could help. So Cedric knew that one of them weren't capable of having children. After the twins were born, Lorelei died. And Cedric felt like Roland was the one to blame for so many time.
So Cedric carried a deep hatred towards Roland. He was envy of him, of his kingdom, of his role, of the way people treated him with respect, of Lorelei. He hated him, but yet wanted everything that he owned, because Cedric thought he deserved it more than Roland did.
I don't apply any of these to canon though. I like to see them as alternate versions of the main source. But it's nice to think about.
Edit: I was thinking about it and this headcanon kinda fits with Olivia Rodrigo's song "jealousy, jealousy"

⋆☾⁺₊ ⊹ A post about my OC (self-insertion) Aurora. ⊹.✩₊
This was originally going to be a detailed Tumblr post and I have 1/7 of it written in my drafts, but I'm not in the mood to finish it anymore. Some of the text there was reused in this post. Also, in that format I can post it on Instagram and also add stuff like her aesthetic, fun facts, mini playlist, inspirations and more. That was fun, but it took me like, two months to make. She's something almost like a self-insert, but me and Aurora are really different from eachother, so I don't know. OC is a better definition.
She and Cedric have been rotting my brain since january help
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And a little compilation of the drawings I made of them together! Please don't use or repost it! Thank you! ;)

Aurora is still a work in development so some things may change in her character or not. I don't know.

Them!!!
Anyone else notice the immediate change in Sofia's body language in "The Enchanted feast" when Cedric appeared just after "All you desire"? She's clearly on edge the entire song but when Cedric appears she's so much more relaxed.
I can almost feel the change in her when she registers him, she knows she's okay when he's there. It also leans into my headcanon that Cedric is one of the only people she feels she can let her guard down around and can take off her mask of being strong and brave.

You know that theory about the first storyteller in the secret library, aka who probably made the whole secret library with his magic due to being the first one, which means, probably made this during the construction of the castle due to the amount of hidden passages in the castle that go to the secret library, which means he needed to be living in the castle or close to the people that were living in it to be able to create all those hidden passageways without anyone noticing
And if he was there since the construction of the castle, also relating this to Goodwyn's mention that the family wand being made by Cedric's grand-grand-grandgrandfather or whatever family degree he had, and the family wand is made out of wood just like the area of Cedric's parents' cottage that surrounds the wand, AS WELL AS THE SECRET LIBRARY IS A TREE
Also Cedric's tower is full of hidden passages and stuff, and it's insides are exactly like the secret library (a tall tower filled with stairways and shelves/bookshelves), which probably means that this dude also made the tower and was the first royal sorcerer aka Cedric's grand grand grand idk grandfather?
I believe it was him
Where did the wishing well even come from in the first place? Who created it, some evil sorcerer? Who else in Roland's family has known about before him (if his parents knew about it, you'd think they would have warned him)??
I'm assuming it's enchanted to be indestructible (whether by magical or regular means), because surely somebody would have tried at some point after how dangerous it proved.
But Roland obviously never asked Cedric to destroy it or seal it away with his magic (because if Cedric even knew about it, he wouldn't have hesitated to wish to be King of Echancia)! Which begs the question- why didn't Roland ask his royal sorcerer to try getting rid of it??
Argh, there are so many questions and plot-holes surrounding the well!

I love that specific prompt of the wishing well bringing back the three royal siblings biological and deceased mom and dad. It's so angsty, so bittersweet.
"If I had a nickel for every time this happens, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice"
Fic Prompt: On Father's Day, Cedric finds the wishing well. Not knowing much about the well, he wishes for Sofia's biological dad to return, and marks the spot where he found the well with a metal rod. Sofia's dad does return from the grave with no obvious catch. He comes back as a living person, not an undead zombie. However, soon Queen Miranda starts showing strange symptoms of drowning, and appears to have caught a strange illness. Sofia's dad thinks his return from the grave is causing Miranda's to die, so he tries to undo the wish because he knows Sofia is closer to Miranda than she is to him. But the iron rod attracts lightning, which destroys the well before he could undo the wish. So Miranda dies.
I’ll have to think about this one.

Something that intrigues me a lot is the fact that the royal sorcerer's children have to take on the role of royal sorcerer when they grow up. If the successor denies and the previous sorcerer has more than one child, then the other child has to take over the role. What happens if they don't want to? Do they tolerate everything in silence and live an unhappy life? Cordelia, as the older sister, must have refused the position and it was up to little Cedric to take her place. What if Cedric didn't want that? What would Goodwyn do?
To be honest, maybe Goodwyn already chose Cedric to be the royal sorcerer before Cordelia, since their family traditions have some little sexist tendencies (Yes family wand, I'm talking about you)
Or maybe not. Maybe it was indeed the male son who is destined to be the royal sorcerer, but Goodwyn thought Cedric was too stupid for the role and offered it to Cordelia, who refused, so Goodwyn was left with no choice.
This theory actually makes a lot of sense. Even if we take it out of the context of sexism and everything, because Cordelia is the oldest sister, it makes sense that she was chosen first for the role of royal sorceress, but she refused, and then the role was up to Cedric. Which probably made Goodwyn really mad.
Now imagine if neither Cordelia nor Cedric wanted the job? What was Goodwyn going to do? Have another child???
I already made a post about this topic (It was a repost and I added my takes) but idk it still confuses me to this day.

A headcanon-like thing I would like to share about Queen Lorelei
Tw: death during childbirth and some light mentions of suicide and grieving
Tumblr media
I love Queen Lorelei (King Roland's deceased wife). She barely appears or it's mentioned in the show? Yes. But oh well. Fandom.
We believe she's that genuinely kind deceased character, that everyone remembers as sweet and beautiful, always more gentle than the world was to her, like a ray of sunshine. She's absolutely adored by everyone and her beauty and kindness always brought all the eyes in the room to her and her sweet laughs and smiles.
But unfortunately she died some time after she got married, during the childbirth of the princes that her body wasn't made to support, because the only reason she got pregnant in the first place was the wishing well, and that action had consequences, which means, she got pregnant indeed but that didn't changed the fact her body wasn't capable of enduring this.
And well, she died because of that. I usually feel really bad about childbirth deaths, because I feel like that could have been avoided months earlier. She was well and healthy but trying to have children took her life, and that just happened because she wanted to have a family and live a happy life.
But well, despite being something that lacks information, her story and character fascinates me, and we try to suppress that desire to see her story through fanfiction and fanmade content.
In my case, I have a constant habit of relating characters to songs, in some cases to whole artists if their whole discography match this character or fandom. For example I can't hear some of Aurora's songs without thinking of Cedric.
In Lorelei's case, it was something I never spoke about, but since we're in a fandom and in constant search for STF related stuff and fan content to keep enjoying our favorite show, I decided to share this.
Basically, I'm a HUGE Lana Del Rey fan since around 2019. I know 90% of her released songs and I also listen to some of her unreleaseds (that despite me knowing a ton of unreleaseds there are more than 200 wandering through the internet so there's no way I know all of them)
During the start of her carreer (actually, her first albums, since her career started years before the debut album) Lana's songs told us stories. Some key words that I would like to relate to her songs are: girlhood, nostalgia and melancholy (+or tragedy if you think about it)
In her first albums (Born to Die + The Paradise Version which is a deluxe of BTD) her songs were centered around nostalgic stories and feelings surrounding girls' experiences. Because she is so beautiful and often delicate while singing about darker topics, it's like her voice and lyric choice just interconnect. She sang about girls who lost their lovers, about beautiful girls that felt unhappy or/because they wasted their youth, about tragic endings, like being taken away from your friends during your teenage years because you guys were doing all kinds of crazy stuff at that time (this song is called This Is What Makes Us Girls), all of this surrounded by a feeling of nostalgia, as if those stories had happened a long time ago.
(Her songs weren't made to romanticize anything, like some people say they were; in fact, a huge part of these songs were inspired by her own life and feelings, and Lana is just telling us stories.)
So, going back to Lorelei, some of Lana's songs remind me of her. Based on what I said you can understand why. But not only that, Lana has some very specific songs that kinds match the fandom's headcanons of how Lorelei would be like (since we have no official info about her character).
Like in the song Blue Velvet, which is a cover from Bobby Vinton's song, but Lana brought a whole different feeling to it. Bringing it to the context of her album, her version sounds a lot more heartbreaking than the original one. The lyrics are about a male character missing his lover, singing about her blue velvet dress and how he will never forget about his love for her, even after she passed. Lana's version has a whole orchestral instrumental through the song and mostly at the end of it, making the song sound nostalgic, tragic and even sounds like some kind of anthem close to the end.
There's also the song Carmen, where there is a girl called Carmen, who attracts all eyes to her and is known for her beauty, but deep inside she's not mentally well, and people seem not to care about or notice how she's feeling. By the end of the song she even gets a love confession (in french), probably hinting at the fact that she receives many of them, but it doesn't matter because those who give them don't really know her or care about it. Despite her state "she's still shining" (in Lana's words), because even though she's suffering, she's still beautiful and loved by people.
In the song Born To Die, Lana sings about enjoying your life while it's still happening, because we're gonna die sooner or later. In the music video the scenes interwine with her sitting in a throne and spending time with a lover, who seems to give her an unhealthy relationship, judging by his aggresive behavior. At the end of the music video they're travelling together by car and her boyfriend, the driver, tries to force her to kiss him back, and because of that their car crashes and she dies in his arms, making him face his guilt because he was the one who did this to her. Tragic ending.
Dark Paradise is a song about grieving a loved one. It was made based on her feelings and her life.
These are some of the songs that match because of the lyrics, but being honest, because of the album being so concrete, the lyrics don't even need to match for me to remember her, because as I said this album is about nostalgic girlhood and melancholia, and she often sings about memories like in the song This Is What Makes Us Girls, that was also inspired by her teenage years when she was taken from her friends, but the memories she carries with them last till this day and it makes her miss those times.
Going to the unreleased, there are so many more. Like the song Angels Forever, where she's singing about memories that at her youth she never thought they were going to end: "we were angels forever, forever angels".
Or Fine China, where she is watching a friend having their first child, and remembering that at her own wedding years ago her groom left her at the wedding, depriving her of the dream life she would have liked to have had, singing "I'm going down now, with all of my fine china and fresh linen, all of my dresses with them tags still on", hinting at what was left of the wedding, of a life she couldn't have, but that she was watching others around her having it in her place. This song kinda reminds me of Roland to be honest, even thought his story with Lorelei isn't really related to their wedding, he was also deprived of a life he wish he could have had. And he had her dresses packed, her stuff still there in the castle, just like in the song the pov had her fine china and dresses with tags still on (they were never used).
It kinda fits even more with that headcanon that Cedric was in love with Lorelei. He never had the chance to live a life with her, and he's a bachelor till this day, watching all the weddings and happy lives through the years but never being a part of them, thinking about what would have happened if life wasn't so cruel.
I had these thoughts and despite being a bit niche I still felt like it should be shared. I know that not many people are fans of listening to recommended songs (at least in my case that's true), but I also made this post for those who already know some of those songs and didn't noticed these connections with Lorelei's story. Those who don't know the songs and want to listen to them now are also very welcomed.
I think about how amazing would be if I made a fanfic about this and using these songs. But I won't do it, it's just a thought. Feel free to do it though, I would absolutely love to read that.

Did you ever wondered why Sofia never recognized the "sea monster" as Cedric?
I mean, it's the same voice, same "hair" color, wand, spells, even a weird little animal around them
You can say "well it's because it's a kids show" and yes, you're right
I was watching The Floating Palace with my friend today and we saw that scene where Cedric tries to kill Sofia, and me and my friend started to talk about how OOC Cedric looked there. And then she told me something:
"Sofia didn't even consider that the sea monster was Cedric because she sees no evil in him.
Cedric is a good person, the monster is not, so that's why in her mind they don't look not even a single bit alike."

Did you ever saw that scene in "Cedric The Great" when Baileywick interrupts Cedric and says "Cedric you're disturbing the king's super, please keep it down!" And thought "Roland heard Cedric screaming and singing about wanting to be a king? Why didn't he reacted? He didn't noticed?"
The reason of that I believe it's because Cedric can do no harm to them. It's the same as that dialogue in "Day Of The Sorcerers":
"I never thought you were capable of something like this" // "You never thought I was capable of anything!"
So, the thing is not that Roland heard the lyrics of the song Cedric The Great and thought "meh, he can scheme as much as he wants, he's not capable of doing anything to me so idc"
In fact, I believe that he heard some noises and words but didn't cared enough to know what he was singing about. As I said, it didn't even crossed Roland's mind that Cedric could do something against him, in fact, he probably thought that his eccentric sorcerer was doing something weird again and disturbing him with it. He can be weird however he wants, but as long as Cedric is not disturbing him. Gosh he doesn't even cared about what Cedric was saying, because that didn't really matter to Roland at all
Good thing he reedemed himself!

me thinking about how lorelei was killed unfairly bc of a wish that wasn’t even her own and how roland wished for her to have children and she ended up suffering because of his wish and the fact that he didn’t consider the strain having children would take on her body and now she’s dead all and she had no say in what happened to her

You guys have probably gone over this already, but I was wondering what kind of daily life Cedric had in his childhood. From bits and pieces I’ve noticed people scattering around, I gathered that he probably lived Enchancia’s castle with his parents and attended Hexley Hall daily while they both did sorcerer duties and stuff.
I keep forgetting that Hexley Hall is most likely not a boarding school like Hogwarts but wtf do I know, I might not even be spelling it right.
I wonder how he got the tower when they transitioned him to royal sorcerer. Surely he and his parents were not all cooped up there. Goodwyn was well respected, and I could see them living in a posh room/wing in the castle somewhere.
Although this could all be BS since most of the time my ‘research’ is 80% hearsay and I’ve been having problems finding time to go deepest lore hunting.
