I think I understand what you’re saying about discrimination in employment. But for example I’ve worked in a restaurant owned by my sister’s bf. During our time there we saw quite a few waitresses and waiters, and also some change of staff in the kitchen. People from different ethnicities, different backgrounds. But at one point in time there was only white males (and my sister and me), so if you looked at the team at that moment it would like a racist environment too. Now I work in childcare where most of my colleagues are white women. But I know there’s a shortage of employees and no one new wants to work with young children (for such a low pay). Now someone just looking at the team would also think it’s a racist place (I have one poc colleague). I’m just bringing some nuances here. Maybe it’s different for jobs with celebrities.
Thanks for the question anon. I don't think it is just about jobs with celebrities - but there is a pretty important caveat (which I definitely made at some points, but probably not every single time). If you look at a workplace, which you know has some desirable elements (its well paid, or the work is high status, or its creative) and see only, or almost entirely white men, then you know that that is a result of discrimination by those in positions of power within the organisation. And to explain why this idea is so important to me I'm going to explain how I came to these conclusions.
I have been incredibly lucky to have had a few different opportunities to listen to women who broken into male dominated industries in the 1970s. I'm talking heavy industrial jobs, mining, or working in a steel mill - not always those specific examples - but those sorts of jobs. There were a couple of really important themes. The women who were interested in breaking into these jobs were a combination of socialist feminists who saw this as part of a wider political project, and women who lived in towns where these industries dominated who really needed the money. It was usually a real struggle to get hired and an even greater struggle to stay in the job - because of the huge level of harassment that they faced when they got there. It was only because of the combination of women whose family worked in the factory who needed the money and politically motivated women that a critical mass meant that they were able to support each other and fight the discrimination and harassment.
The conclusion I drew from those stories was basically: "Oh of course. Women have always wanted good jobs - and the all male workforces could only be created by discrimination and harassment". The jobs weren't that good, but they were better than the jobs available for women. There were lots of other societal forces that would discourage women from applying for these roles, but that wasn't enough to keep all women from trying to get the good jobs. There also needed to be harassment and discrimination in the workplace.
I knew that, but sometimes in my fandom life I'd make excuses. I'd watch shows I like and see that most of the writers and all the directors were men, even though the shows had feminist themes and the people in charge claimed to believe in them and I'd sort of a little bit fall for the pipeline argument (it seemed credible when the number of female writers went up as the show went on - but always absolute bullshit). It's not that I thought they were doing everything they could - but I thought they were probably doing enough. If you look at my very first post about the issue of Harry and female writers - it's a little bit soft. I compare him to the industry standard.
Then in quick succession I learned how Joss Whedon (the person whose shows I'd loved the most) treated women he worked with and the Weinstein story, and all the stories that followed it, broke. And I realised that I'd fooled myself to not think about what I knew to be true, because I wanted to. There are always women who are both interested and able to take all the creative roles - but they're excluded because of harassment and discrimination and that harassment and discrimination is a choice by those in power. The story about FX, which I've mentioned a few times, and how easy it was to change the demographics of who was directing episodes once someone in power decided that they wanted to, confirmed what I'd heard much earlier.
So that's the reason why I now hold the line absolutely on the idea if the jobs have something going for them and they are only done by white men then that is the responsibility of people in power and they could change it.
I can't talk about the specific examples you give. The balance between structural discrimination outside the workplace and structural discrimination in the workplace becomes much more complicated when the job is less desirable. But I think it's important not to rule it out, or feel defensive. You may get a position of power at some point, and the best way to ensure that you're not replicating structures of discrimination is to feel responsible for doing everything you can to change them.

You walk again around and hold his gaze. "So I just need to unwrap you...." You grab at his tie and draw him closer to your face. He lets out a noise of surprise. For a little bit, his eyes are big and don't expect your rough treatment yet he got his seductive composure back and has to criticize you.

"I thought I can handle my gift how I like it..." You play with his tie between your fingers while he looks at your hands and now your face. The tension between you and him just arose higher with each phrases you two throw at each other.

Seeing your posts on how you've despised the way season 6 handled the Mordecai/CJ/Margaret love triangle, did you read about writer Matt Price's posts on a Reddit AMA regarding why Mordecai didn't end up with Margaret or CJ in the end?
He said "We felt like the Margaret/CJ story was complete, and they were both on their own path already. We also felt like Mordecai had moved on in his life. He finally left the park to pursue art, and we thought it'd be cool if he met someone while doing that. But we love Margaret and C.J., and we're sure that they're happy without Mordecai! He was too wishy-washy with them!!"
To make things worse, Matt said that Rigby's Graduation Day Special planned to have CJ react to the Park crew going to outer space with an annoyed look implying ""Whatever, I'm glad that guy is in space."" Really feels he was trying to push the "CJ hates Mordecai and Margaret after their breakup" thing way too hard (glad it didn't make it to the final cut).
He also said that CJ apparently cut off all contact with Mordecai, Margaret, Rigby, and Eileen, which is a contrast to him confirming Margaret still keeps in touch with and remains friends with Mordecai, Rigby, and Eileen. Would you say this is kinda sad knowing CJ never got to even reconcile with Mordecai as friends like Margaret did in season 7? Plus making Eileen's sadness on not being able to hang out with both CJ and Margaret in I See Turtles even sadder with the implications of CJ cutting off contact with her in the end (likely just because she associates with Margaret) too.
Nope. I don't really keep up with regular show news. I still like the show and I loved close enough (RIP), but I just don't. But since CJ is near and dear to my heart as a character this does intrest me so let's get into it.
On not having Mordecai get with either of them: It was the right call. I didn't really mind when I saw the finale and time, maturity and what have you have only made me like the decision more. Part of it is where the series was at: The "Mordecai nukes his happy relationship arc" was a mess i've still only barely watched and plan to cover someday, but so far haven't gotten to. It was easily the worst thing the show's done and made me stop watching it for a season.
It was absolutely the right call to instead have him conciously take a break from dating, work on himself. He didn't do much of that before they got shot up into space, but it was a good effort. He burned that bridge with CJ the second he kissed Margret and them getting back together was a huge mistake: Mordecai never really found the right way to apologize and CJ clearly never got over the betrayal or her paranoia he'd do it again. Instead having the major arcs be "setup for next season" and "Rigby tries to better himself by going back to school' were a better choice, as was just.. putting the final season in space.
With those arcs it also meant there really wasn't room to speedrun a new relationship fans woudln't want. It makes more sense that after finally deciding to focus on his art, he grew up, had some time to mature and THEN met the love of his life. Margret had moved on with her life, Mordecai moved on with his. I do think the show fucked up with the love triangle, but this is the only move they could really make and I support that. It may blow a little Mordecai and Margret seemingly ends with a whimper.. but it's what the show and the character sneeded. Sometimes... life and cartoon shows dont' work out. People drift apart.
On the deleted scene: Seconded bud. Seconded. I do think the show REALLY fucked up with how it treated CJ during season 6, and really underestimated how attached fans had gotten.. which itself is baffling. She was part of the main cast. She took Margret's spot. She was in a decent chunk of episodes. Fans liked her and took her side in the breakup, and while she was super paranoid with mordecai, it's really hard not to blame her. Less easy to forgive the attempted murder but what can you do. So having her just go "Whatever I dont' care" feels wrong. Her not carring MOrdecai got shot up into space? In character, she dosen't have to care about her ex anymore. he fucked the relationship up beyond any hope and she made a mistake taking him back as she clearly coudln't forgive him. But her not having the slightest horror at Rigby or Eileen getting shot up , her friend and her best friend, feels so wrong it hurts. Eileen was the only thing that got her to actually be around margret and not fly into a jealous rage. What the fuck.
On the cut off thing: that just feels sad.. but i've come to accept it more. I DO think her cutting off Eileen is dickish and like to think she at least parted as amicably as she could.. but I also get it. Eileen is with Rigby, marries rigby, has his kids. The two are in a fantastic supportive relationship that shows how far he's come as a person and how far out of her shell she's come. It's adorable.. but it also means being around Eileen runs the risk of seeing Mordecai. Being Eileens friend means a pretty solid chance of running into her ex any time Eileen has a party, at the wedding, at the birth of her kids etc.
Being petty about Eileen being friends with Margret is one thing. margret fucked up.. but geninely tried to back off after making a heat of a moment mistake she clearly regretted deeply, and only told the boyfriend lie to save herself from a helicopter crash, an entirely fair reaction. Being shoved on a double date with her ex and his justifably jealous girlfriend who not so justifably tried to unalive her was not her idea. The two could manuver around each other, maybe awkwardly say high, I See Turtles proved they could at least be civil for Eileens sake.
But seeing her ex every time her best friend had a huge life event... that's a lot to ask. Eileen would be heartbroken.. but would understand why CJ had to break off their friendship and while I See Turtles was a good ep.. it WAS a lot to ask CJ to be around Margret right after what happened. Personally even if it's not how the creators see it I see the two reconnecting with time. CJ's moved on with her life, maybe gone pro with dodgeball, Eileen's a professor with a loving stay at home husband.. thier in a place they can be friends again and CJ, while not necesarily ever forgiving mordecai, can stand being around him. I could see her holding that grudge for a while, understandably so and people CAN hold onto grudges forever if they want.. but it just dosen't fit here. CJ grew up, and while she dosen't really keep in touch with her ex.. I like to think she got her friend back. Maybe her and Margret even become friends
Hell honestly I just had the idea margret and CJ eventually hook up: Margret genuinely apologizes for everything, CJ does the thing, one thing leads to another. I mean they do kinda fit: CJ's mordecai with his shit together, Margret is kind and empathetic, and I did really like it the last time an asshole's exes had better chemistry with each other instead of him.
SO TLDR: there honestly isn't anything that obnoxious in this. I don't like the idea of CJ cutting eileen off.. but most of it fits and the one part that didn't was cut out as they realized it didn't. For how badly the crew fucked up that love triangle.. they recovered fine.

On a 'Work Trip' we go- Heikazuscara
Imagine this: you're the best detective in the Tenryou commission. You spent your youth training in the martial arts your father led you to know, and after cutting ties with most family and friends from childhood, you've learned to fend for yourself without problems. Your intuition alone can carry you through catching the most dangerous criminals in all of Inazuma, however arduous the process may be.
And yet your boss doesn't trust you to lead an investigation team in an overseas 'work trip' to Liyue.
This is the predicament Heizou found himself on a tuesday night, when, having brought up the idea to Sara, she had turned it down inmediately.
"But, Madam Kujou, you know that even when I am bombarded with the hardest cases one after another I get all my work done in a timely fashion!" protested Heizou.
Sara looked at him unbelievingly, "and yet you're never in the commissary, or actively patrolling."
"Well, I'm here right now, aren't I?" Heizou's smirk lessened under Sara's questioning gaze, "also, you never come in when I am here, and as for patrols, I don't think we should leave the defense of the citizens to someone as measly as a mere detective."
"And you're implying that this expedition is solely for work reasons?"
"... yeah?" Heizou tried to say it confidently. He really did. But something in Madam Kujou's stare made him think that she suspected he only wanted to attend the Lantern Rite with his boyfriends. It had been a while since he had seen Captain Beidou, and a reunion with Lady Ningguang and Yaoyao was way overdue. But well, it wasn't as if he needed anybody's permission to do whatever he wanted anyway. If he took a few days to investigate a criminal trail in southern Yashiori island, then no one could object to him being away. (and even if they did, who'd have the guts to fire the best detective in Teyvat's recorded history?)
When he got home, he told Scara that Sara had allowed the expedition, but on the condition that they travel on their own expenses. Paid time off, basically, outside of Heizou's official vacation days, and seeing as they had already aranged for the Crux to dock in Inazuma to take them, transport wouldn't be a problem. While Scara was surprised at first, he coud see that the day's cases had worn his detective out, so they headed to bed after eating the yaki onigiri Scara had prepared. Kazuha was already asleep, but before tucking himself under the covers, Heizou pressed a kiss to his forehead and wished them both good night.
Zuzu, being asleep, woudln't have heard, and Scara, while still awake, had no need for that kind of rest and would probably not invoke sleep tonight. Instead, he resorted to kissing Heizou and telling him to go to sleep.

The next week, Heizou headed to the police station to turn in some paperwork for a criminal that'd been caught during the weekend. On his desk, he realized, lay a fancy looking envelope sealed with none other than Madame Kujou's stamp. He read the letter's contents very carefully.
Well, it seemed like Madame Kujou had had a change of heart! He wouldn't have to sneak around anymore, as she had permitted his abscence for a full week. With that in mind, she did mention that she'd like him to finish his workday without sneaking out. Oh well, maybe bearing through a police station lunch was worth the week that awaited him.

Ivan infodump
OK SO i posted my little guy Ivan (big deer guy) and as i mentioned in his post, hes a mix of different characters i've like found interesting and that had interesting concepts that i wanted to explore in a character so yeah I decided to make ivan!
Ivan's like part of this universe im a part of w some buddies and he's like a werecreature (i cant rlly go super in depth w the lore here because i dont rlly know it that well LHDFCBDVLKHB) he was turned into one like after some stuff happened in his life that left him broke so he needed money to like get back on his feet and doing that (essentially making himself a test subject for this thing some scientists were doing) was the only way he could. Heres where the first theme i wanted to explore comes in, Guilt and Debt.
If anyone's read crime and punishment, the main character Raskolnikov essentially k1lls his crusty musty landlady so he doesnt have to owe her his rent anymore which imo, slay, but at the same time he is riddled with this immense guilt and like questioning himself as to wether or not committing a crime and a deadly sin (because hes also catholic so another LAYER of guilt added)
Raskolikov gets sent to prision to like seve his sentence but most of the book is like him debating with himself wether or not what he did was right, because he mrd3red someone that was a pest both to him and everyone else who owed rent to her, and she was a busive and mean so like thats someon no one would miss because she was bad so he's good for killing her, it was for the greater good, but at the same time in the eyes of the law Raskolnikov is a criminal, as well as in the eyes of religion because he murdered someone and thats an unforgivable act and hes supposed to go to hell for that.
In Ivan's case, his guilt lies in the fact that he was essentially the reason him a nd his family's business went into banktrupcy, if he was never born he woudln't have caused much trouble to his parents. He's the son of a violin maker, meaning business is not as big as theyd wish it to be especially as violins are expensive as shit because theyre handmade works of art that only few know the trade of making them and stuff. Ivan obviously inherited the knowledge from his father, helped him in the shop and helped to provide for his own family even as a child, but he still carries that guilt of being the reason niether one of his parents could fulfill any of the desires they had due to him being just "a burden" in his tiny little head.
In the debt aspect, he is quite literally indebted, left with the previous unpaid bills and unfinished projects his father left after he passed, and left with a bunch of customersn his father still owed things to like money, instruments and materials. To Ivan, thats the way he's repaying the hardships he made his parents go through. the family burdens are passed down generation by generation as well, because many of most of the monetary debts came from people of the past that made those bad desicions and left their descendants to deal with them. Ivan is determined to fulfill these depts, at all costs, and eventually that costs him his humanity.
NOW ONTO HANNIBAL!
I mostly wanted to do the c@nn1balsm as a metaphor for all consuming, obsessive love with Ivan , especially the love for his craft (because in the end he loves what he's doing, hes a passionate violin maker) but literally in the way that he loves as well. He isnt that bad looking, at least according to him (in my head his face claim is jacob elordi specifically in saltburn and like post euphoria and the kissing booth) but he does feel like he's hard to love because of all the guilt hes carrying for shit he didnt even do (like be incredibly indebted to the state). hes super inexperienced in love, has only had one long lasting relationship, and that relationship is one that consumed him so much that he couldnt see himself living apart from that person he loved after they broke up. Ivan has an anxious attachment style, always has and hes like a kitten with separation anxiety, he will wail and scream until he gets back to that person he feels safe with even if it means that he's actively pushing them away because of how clingy he is.
all that to say that he ate his ex boyfriend because if he couldnt be with ivan then no one could have him
So yeah that is like almost all of Ivan's story! i love him dearly and rlly want to expand more on him in the future!

15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?
I feel like I took a real cop-out with this for my long fic because so far each chapter is a little bit in the future from where the last chapter left off so I figured out ooh, I can just make each chapter the year and month it is which is good, because I don't know how I would have come up with 45 cool chapter titles lol
Although even saying that, I always remember YA books that had fun chapter titles when I was a kid, so I feel I either go kind of descriptive and look at them later and go wow those are STUPID or I'll try and be too clever (like I have a fic with three chapters where each chapter in a line from an All-American Rejects song lol)
Titles are very hit or miss for me; like my long fic for the first say 20ish chapters had a different title and then one day I was like this title is dumb and changed it and was like oh... I can just change it? I can DO that?!
Like there are a couple of finished fics I would like to go back and change the title/chapter titles on now but I woudln't change anything else on the fic so it would seem like a waste... I've been lucking out with the TK and cute animals series that usually while I'm writing them I'll think of the title-
I do have one fic I thought of the title before I had started the fic lol.

There is actually evidence backing up that Xander was planning to get away with murdering Teruko, and thus, winning the trial. He made sure to lure Charles into the room, knowing he had a fear of blood that left him unable to talk, so he could see Teruko's body. He then put the DV that said "Charles motive video" on the scene (albeat fucking it up lol) and even destroyed some gloves that Charles had to further implicate him. Then Charles would be the lead suspect and he woudln't be able to defend himself. So I would be more inclined to believe Min when she says that Xander really would have killed her honestly
//I disagree, and it's precisely because of what happened after he stabbed Teruko. If you wanted to see this as genuine, Xander really half-assed it, even worse than the most unwilling blackeneds in canon, like Mondo and Gonta.
//All he really did to frame Charles was shred a rubber glove and write "Charles Cuevas Motive" on a DVD." Even if Charles was in a bad state and couldn't defend himself, had Xander put the DVD into the correct reader the right way around, it would've been really easy to disprove that as a piece of evidence.
//Not to mention, he knows Charles hates the sight of blood because the guy saw his messed up eye under that eye patch. I can imagine that strong reaction was probably why he was thinking of Charles at the time.
//And I also want to bring up a detail about those with Survivor's Guilt: the concept of passive suicidal ideation. It's when someone is contemplating dying, but they aren't making plans themselves to achieve the results.

My, this is quite the turn of events.
What the hell happened in the past two weeks while we were gone, Donbrothers? We've got a funny red man, a blue monkey and a yellow oni who're a pair of losers, a pink bird wife guy turned epic divorce man, a jailhouse black dog, and a bunch of autistic kids hanging out in the void by themselves! ...also a Tiger/Dragon system apparently just off to the side, which is quite unusual for a Sixth Ranger.
Also, uh... yesterday morning, Kohei Murakami, who played Kusaka in Faiz and Bud in Zyuohger, after asking if his followers saw episode 36 of Donbrothers, shared a picture of Inoue captioned "Toshiki Kabedon", which is uh... exactly what you might imagine it'd be. I know I don't usually show pictures, but I find this deeply compelling. Look at his goddamn face. Look at it. That is a man who knows.

• The Legend of Zelda quotes were painstakingly hand chosen with love! I had that and the Hercules script pinned in my tabs for 2 months lol and I had like 3 docs separate to keep everything in order! And fun fact: their mostly in order of how they appear in the game, meaning they follow the actual game chronologically! ^^
OF COURSE! @bunnwich was the one who motivated and inspired me to write this. I'd never written fanfic before this, just stuff for OCs. It was really something!
You can blame a certain Youtuber for the 'Pause" jokes. It's literally a part of my daily vocab and I woudln't be me if I didn't put my humor, memes, and inside jokes into the writing. (After all, I wrote it with the mindset that only Bun would read it ^^). I'm glad you share my silly humor!
The pairs for the PE part were actually chosen somewhat carefully by me! I tried to think based on character relationships, personal stories and clubs, which 1st years and second years would actually want to pair up with each other!
Yume's and Kalim's relationship is important to me. I'd love to explore it more because there are more layers to it!

I took care writing Kalim! I wanted to show his growth and his reflection after chapter 4. Sometimes I feel people write him a certain way. I don't think he's naive about things as people always think he is. Especially when it comes to people's emotions. The fact that he wasn't able to see through Jamil's lies isn't a fault on Kalim, Jamil is just that good of a liar/ that good at masking his true feelings. but I'm rambling.
Meme voice: I don't care for Azul. (Yet there are aspects of his character that foil Yume's so interestingly.)

Ahh yes the...climax of this part was something I had been waiting to get to and wanting to explore. I won't get to into it here.
Idia is notorious for saying shit bluntly and without thinking about it, I feel because he doesn't think about how someone could intemperate his words. He knows what he means so he thinks automatically that the other person should too. Bc its "logical" thinking. (lets just say he's not a reliable narrator)
I got to explore lots of interesting things with Yume here, and I'm glad it impacted you so much! Making people feel the intended emotions, or any really is high praise! It affected me as well when I wrote it because...well like you said it can hit close to home for some people.
