The way they're handling this snow is so inconsistent and ridiculous and hilarious.

I will say, as a Texan, I have great appreciation for Talay's reaction to the snow. The rare times I've seen snow falling I reacted in the same way.

Lately I’ve been making a little extra 💰watching some daycare kids at a church. Just making sure they don’t hurt themselves for an hour, nothing actually religious involved, get an extra $20 a week. Not a bad deal

So this week a different church was like “we have this special event and there might need extra help can you send over some of your people” and it was $20 an hour for about five hours of work so I was like yes of course I want an extra $100

But their nursery had a tv with a livestream coming in from the sanctuary where everyone was speaking. The first guy was the regular preacher and just had a bunch of “god is the way god is the light” generic bullshit no big deal

Then the Guest Of Honor speaker gets up to talk. And he opens with how gender dysphoria is ruining peoples souls and the fabric of society and how it’s not a problem for him bc it’s not a problem for godly people and men need to be with women bc you can’t be a Christian family without a baby and only a mommy and daddy can make a baby and also trans people are spitting in god’s face. And he talked about that for like over a fucking hourrr it was torture

But the funniest part was that only like 25 people showed up and there were no kids so we got paid to sit in a church basement for like four hours so. I can at least walk away feeling like I scammed them 🤷🏼 Even if I had to listen to some insane bigot half the time

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!
