I will never stop talking about this issue. This is the one that got me to be like "Holy shit, I wanna keep an eye on this character"
This is what started getting me wanting to do a character analysis on her
As I'm binge reading for final notes on her character I cannot stress enough how much the story can portray grief and breakdowns.
Just- ugh good job those who made this issue I cannot stress how much this one is in my top 5

Cream and whisper would hang out whenever whisper found the time! Cream would teach her a bit about chaos, and in return whisper would teach her a bit about wisps! It was a nice break that whisper got to take while she was around. Eventually she stopped coming however. It’s not like her not to appear. Maybe she’s just busy working at the resistance? She’ll be back eventually… right?

A better look for mutated Oroku Saki referring to this post. I could name this #forgotten clan
There's a bit of ROTTMNT and IDW mixed in with some characters being fused. It might actually be considered its own continuity.
Teng Shen didn't die and Hamato Yoshi/Splinter defeated Oroku Saki/Shredder but let him live with the agony and embarrassment of his defeat. So Yoshi and Teng lived happily with their daughter Miwa/Karai.
While Oroku had no other choice but to leave as everyone who once knew him lost all respect for him and felt petty over his existence. Over the years, he has had anything but regret and pain. His mental and body health became an issue, it was almost as if he was dying from the inside.
He tried to look for help but mostly failed because of his anger issues. Eventually, the TMNT 2012 plot thing happen and he was mutated when he went to buy 4 little turtle pets as a suggestion from his therapist.
Oroku thought of better leaving the mutated baby turtles in a better place (maybe with Yoshi and Teng if he could ever find them) but with his new form and past he knew that no one would accept him or the little turtles, and remembered how much he regretted hurting his adopted family he took the little turtles as his own and really but really just tries to be a good dad...
He still wears the Hamato clan symbol as just a memory and a sign of respect as he also preserves his deadly metal claws, though they became nothing but rusty metal.
He may be angry 24/7 but will always keep his composure and try to use the peaceful route as they once thought him to do, but if the situation demands it, he will scratch and be hard.
When the Krang started to look for him and the turtles, in one fight he lost his tail and he hides that from everyone.
He started to train his kids when they were at least 10 as he wanted to give them enough space so they could enjoy their childhood before confronting the world. Shredder also took his time to make suitable weapons for his kids (though Tenoch/Donnie made his weapons with better quality and in little time), Shredder is so proud of that.

Amy hot takes.
Amy's Sonic Advance gameplay is still THE superior 2-D gameplay for Amy, and the only reason it hasn't been revisited in newer games is because Sega are cowards still stuck with the "one-button" approach that only works for Sonic and Tails.
Even when games like Origins Plus and Sonic Superstars nerfed down Amy to just two moves, she is still more fun to play as than Sonic.
Amy's gameplay in Sonic Advance >> E-122 Psi Amy hacks >> Amy Mania by Troop Sushi/Codename Gamma >> Sonic Supertars >> Origins Plus.
Sonic X's Amy is the full package of how Amy should be like. Even with her flaws, she was one of the most fun characters to watch, and surprisingly got plenty of moments that humanized her and even explore a bit of how she saw her relation with Sonic, proving she isn't deluded about it like her detractors claim.
Giving Amy a toy hammer is one of the best things Sega did, and wish the full potential of what she can do with it was more explored in gameplay terms.
The tarot cards should be only a back-up weapon, never the main one. Story-wise, the can guide her in her quests, providing the player with hints that they have to interpretate.
IDW's characterization of Amy is alright. The issue if anything, is that she, like the game characters, are hardly the focus of the stories, nor are they allowed to be shown in a more personal manner. Don't care if it's because Sega is too strict, or if the writers only use them to get to the characters that THEY really want to write for. Either way, the situation sucks for the game cast.
I think Amy is better suited to be the franchise's co-protagonist alongside Sonic. She is very versatile as she isn't restricted to be by his side 24/7, and as long as she sees Sonic as her prince in shining armor, there really isn't any reason to keep her from growing into a stronger and more beautiful heroine.
I'd like to see a story where Amy tries to help a character find redemption, but is ultimately unable to, betrayed by them even. I think this would be an interesting change of pace because, even if let down by those Amy tries to help, that she still remain kind of heart would be proof of just how strong her heart is.
Superform. Of all characters not named Sonic, Amy's noble and compassionate heart should be more than worthy of awakening that miracle.
Morio Kishimoto really should go all out with exploring more of Sonic and Amy's relation. I think he is one of the few people capable of doing so and pushing the status quo to ot' limit whole keeping things fresh. After the let down of that last Tailstube where Amy's feelings were again the object of mockery from american writers ( especially HIM), I'd more than welcome the more respectful approach from Japanese writers towards the dynamic of these two characters.
Amy IS part of the main cast, and should be treated accordingly to her status as lead female character. That means, not giving away Amy's roles to less important ones. Wether it's things like her compassion (which Tyson Hesse mentions to be unique) or being the most adventure loving of the girls.
Don't make Amy be "mature" by becoming a party pooper who dislikes fun. This is a very outdated stereotype of women that honestly, doesn't apply to the real Amy. She would join the boys in doing dumb things, while still doing girly things with other girls too.
Enough of sad face Amy. Why the hell is Sega afraid to show an Amy that, no matter what, can be a beacon of hope for those who have lost their faith. Further more, why is she not expressing faith anymore on Sonic? I swear ever since Sonic Boom, only Tails is allowed to do this as an artificial means to push the bff thing, in contrast to previous games and even shows, where Amy did this. It saddens me how in Prime, she complains about Sonic not sticking to the plan, while Tails is the one who reminds that he has never let them down. Like, helloooooo? Amy also knows this, so why treat her like she doesn't?
Sonic, Tails, Amy & Knuckles >> Sonic, Tails and Amy >>>>>> Sonic, Tails & Knuckles.
Writers shouldn't be afraid to show/play out Amy's flaws. I like seeing characters make fools of themselves once in a while, as long as they are also allowed to get out of their mess by also playing out their strengths and positive traits.

the unofficial rules of reading comic books (in my completely unqualified opinion)
1. do not start by reading Alan Moore comics (speaking from experience,, they're good but I would recommend getting used to the medium and understanding the social context of them first)
2. adapt to any new information given and accept that you will likely never fully understand everything
3. you will eventually find that comic writer that you hate with a burning passion (everyone has one) (and if you don't, you will)
4. new 52 fucking sucks (there are a few exceptions)
5. sometimes they will set up a storyline and then drop it
6. you do not need to understand the context of everything you read
7. you do not have to read everything in order
8. most comics have arcs of about 5-6 issues, these will likely come out at trade paperbacks or graphic novels later
9. YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY HAS GRAPHIC NOVELS!!!
10. try not to get stuck, I know it's easy to just read batman or just read marvel comics but please try to branch out or try something new,,,, reading only X-Men is fun and all but sometimes you gotta read some Blue Beetle too
11. other comic fans have different opinions to you, that's fine
12. every single comic has a biggest fan and a biggest hater (this is okay)
13. support your local comic shop/comic fairs
14. comics can be very dumb
15. the biggest difference between Marvel and DC is the name of the publisher
16. most DC writers/artists have written/drawn Marvel comics and most Marvel writers/artists have written/drawn DC comics
17. You should check out other comic publishers like IDW, Archie, Dark Horse or Image,, or even check out local comic makers in your area
18. canon is the things that stay the same when a different person writes a character
19. at some point every comic fan will read these comics, House of M, Watchmen, One of DC's many Crisis Events, a Marvel comic where The Phoenix Ruins Everything, the Comic you Hate Most in the World, Probably Something Written By Stan Lee and The Sandman
20. no one stays dead except Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd and Uncle Ben
21. the nineties in comics were the nineties in comics
22. you must read comics that don't have batman in it (please I'm begging you)
23. your favourite cartoon was likely inspired by comics (or written by) a comic writer
24. someone else has a completely different interpretation of your favourite character (and both interpretations can co-exist) (it is the nature of a medium that has so many creators telling stories about the same characters for details to contradict sometimes)
25. comics are artforms, they tell stories, they can be beautiful and thought provoking and gut wrenching and heart breaking and hopeful (or they can be none of these things)
26. questioning character choices, small details and information given in the comics you read is the first step to analysing and engaging with the material (so you think batman should kill??? now think about why he doesn't.) (you believe magneto is right??? now tell me why he's considered a villain)
27. sometimes it's deeper than you think
28. sometimes it isn't
29. remember the names of the writers and artists you love, too often comic creators are under appreciated
30. Jeff is people too
(feel free to add more)

Who Did What for Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure
So the 900th Adventure was basically this years Annual in spirit, but instead of multiple shorter stories, it told one big story, but with the number of writers and art teams that you would get in a multi-story annual anyways. Sure you could easily read the credits, but it's more fun this way. Obviously spoilers ahead so everything past part 1 is is gonna be under a Read More
Part 1 (pages 1-6): Set-up with Tails
Tumblr media
Writer: Ian Flynn (the original main writer on IDW Sonic and post-Metal Virus continues to be one of the main writers, including being the main writer of IDW's Classic Sonic specials. Been with the franchise since becoming a writer for the Archie comics back in '06 and served as the writer for Sonic Frontiers)
Artist: Adam Bryce Thomas (one of the main IDW Sonic artists. been around since the latter half of Archie's reboot)
Colors: Valentina Pinto (initially a secondary colorist whose biggest credit was doing the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, recently seems to have graduated to being one of the main colorists this year)
Part 2 (pages 7-12): Amy and the Orca
Tumblr media
Writer/Artist: Evan Stanley (the other main writer of IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus as well as one of the main artists, been around since late in Archie's pre-reboot era)
Colors: Gigi Dutreix (regular cover artist and occasional inker and has even written a few stories; co-authoring Victory Garden from the 2019 Annual and its follow up Future Growth, which they also colored, and solo-writing The Catalyst from 2020's Annual)
Part 3 (pages 13-18): Knuckles and Metal Sonic
Tumblr media
Writer: Nigel Kitching (one of the main writers of the old UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions back in the 90s)
Artist: Mauro Fonseca (regular artist, major credits so far include Sonic Learns to Drive from the 30th Anniversary Special, co-designing Surge & Kit, doing the A-covers for the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, and doing a bunch of stuff in the concurrent and upcoming main book issues. Also relevantly used to be a regular contributor to the Sonic the Comic-Online fan continuation)
Inks: Rik Mack (recent regular inker, being the main inker on Mauro's more recent interior art for the comic as well as inking other artists, most notably on Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. Recently did some coloring on the back-half of issue 61 as well. Also another former StC-O regular)
Colors: Reggie Graham (one of the main colorists on IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus, after having been a regular on covers beforehand, as well as being another former StC-O regular)
Part 4 (pages 19-24): Eggman and his Mech
Tumblr media
Writer: Daniel Barnes (writer of Weapons from the 2022 Annual and the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Artist/Colors: Min Ho Kim (fairly recent addition of the IDW Sonic crew, being a regular cover artist since Scrapnik #1. Also the character artist on The Murder of Sonic)
Color Assistance: Evan Maly
Part 5 (pages 25-30): Blaze and Cream
Tumblr media
Writer/Artist: Aaron Hammerstrom (regular artist, most prominently being the main artist for IDW's Classic Sonic stuff. Also previously wrote/drew the 2022 Annual story Rough Patch)
Inks: Matt Froese (regular inker, mainly works on Aaron's art. Most notable non-Aaron credits include the two Yardley-drawn issues of Zeti Hunt and the first and last parts of Trial by Fire)
Colors: Nathalie Fourdraine (The 1:10 Retailer Incentive variant cover artist for every issue the main book as well as semi-regularly doing covers for side books. Served as the colorist for the Classic Sonic stories Dr. Eggman's Brithday and Amy's New Hobby, as well as the colors and A covers for the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Part 6 (pages 31-36): Babylon Rogues & Shadow/Rouge
Tumblr media
Writer: Caleb Goellner (writer of the Team Sonic Racing one-shot, the 2019 Annual story Jet Set Tornado, and the 2020 Annual story Reflections)
Artist: Abby Bulmer (regular cover artist, as well as artist of the 2020 Annual story The Catalyst and the 2022 Annual story Hero Camp. Notably way back in the day was the artist of the very first StC-O story, and her time on 2000 AD often involved her serving as a colorist for Richard Elson, one of the main StC artists.)
Colors: Heather Breckel (IDW MLP's main colorist, who's been a recurring secondary colorist throughout IDW Sonic's run, often filling in for other colorists)
Part 7 (pages 37-40): The Warp Topaz Cave
Tumblr media
Same team (Flynn/Thomas/Pinto) as part 1

TOS comics ranking
At this point, I've read all the TOS comics out there (or almost), so this is my personal veredict, from best series to worst:
DC comics
The best by a long shot imo. Also the longest running series. Set mostly after The Search for Spock (vol. 1) and The Final Frontier (vol. 2). The following are my favorites.
From Volume 1:
-The Mirror Universe saga (issues 9-16) by Mike W. Barr: It becomes a bit of "star wars, phaser pew pew" in the second half, but still pretty entertaining.
-The first Annual, also by Barr.
-Double Blind and The Last Word (issues 24-25 and 28) by Diane Duane: The first one is hilarious, while the second is pretty moving and spones-coded.
-The Paradise Lost saga (issues 43-45) by Michael Carlin: A payback for The Apple episode.
-The Dante's Inferno/Death of James Kirk saga (issues 48-55) by Peter David.
From Volume 2:
-The Trial of James T. Kirk saga (issues 1-12) by Peter David: The humor is overdone at times, but this author brings a unique freshness and originality to the series. The trial itself is absolutely hilarious, specially when the gangsters from A Piece of the Action show up as surprise witnesses.
-Once a Hero (issue 19) by Peter David: Kirk has to conduct a memorial for the redshirt that just died protecting him, and he finds out he doesn't know anything about the man. Brutal, honest, and has one of Jim's best speeches ever.
-The Class Reunion saga (issues 25-28), The Tabukan Syndrome (issues 35-40), A Little Adventure (issues 42-43) and the Time Crime saga (issues 53-57), all by Howard Weinstein.
-The Alone (issues 62-63) by Kevin Ryan.
2. Wildstorm
Only two TOS comics from this publisher (actually a branch of DC if I'm not mistaken): All of Me and Enter the Wolves. Both are pretty good.
3. IDW
I haven't read all of them, since some series focus on characters I don't care much about, like Gary Seven or Number One. From those I've read, the ones I liked the most were New Visions (made with photo montages from the series), Hell's Mirror and Mirror Images (both set, of course, in the mirror universe), Echoes (set in the TMP era) and The Primate Directive (a crossover with Planet of the Apes).
4. The Tokyopop mangas
There are three volumes. Some stories are fine, others are meh! Perhaps the second volume was the best.
5. The UK comics
Do they have a lot to do with TOS? No. The authors were not really familiar with the series. But they're bizarre, fun and have pretty art.
6. The newspaper comics
Some of the first story arcs were quite good, though it lost quality over time, specially in the art department. Set in the TMP era.
7. Marvel second series
Consisting of the Unlimited and Untold Voyages series, as well as a mirror universe one-shot and a crossover with X-Men. Rather generic. Haven't read the Early Voyages series, focused on Pike.
8. Marvel first series
These are quite bad. Set in TMP era.
9. Gold Key comics
Some stories are imaginative, but they could be about any characters instead of Star Trek and it'd be the same. This is a problem with the UK comics as well, but somehow I enjoyed the others much more.

How about Top 5 Favorite Sonic comic covers? Can be from any!
I'm just limiting this to IDW because If I included Archie I would be in the wiki mines for hours
#1 - Imposter Syndrome RI 1 - Evan Stanley
Tumblr media
Like If I could have this printed on my wall I would
#2 -Issue 50 - Cover C - Adam Bryce Thomas
Tumblr media
I love how this is framed more from Surge's point of view, how in her mind she's the protagonist trying to take down the most pompous asshole she's ever met that's been controlling her for years
#3 - Issue 59 (Cover B) - Natalie Haines
Tumblr media
It's an oil painting. Sonic comic artists are literally out here making art that belongs in The Louvre
#4 - Issue 24 (Cover A) - Jon Gray
Tumblr media
Listen. Jon Gray's covers Never. Miss. There's always a ton of things to look at and enjoy. But to go the extra mile and show everyone in "Zombot" form is super cool. It's cute. It's spooky. It's delicious.
#5 - 2019 Annual (RI) - Nathalie Fourdraine
Tumblr media
Nathalie Fourdraine covers also never miss, I love her coloring style so much! But this one's just so charming it's always nice to look at.
Bonus: Issue 12 (Cover A) - Evan Stanley
Tumblr media
Someone once described this as "Art so good it blew my tits clean off" and I think about it every time I see this cover because it's so accurate

What made the lemur your favorite?
*DEEP INHALE*
Well for starters, I’m a sucker for new characters in any type of media, so when I first joined the Sonic fandom as saw this character I didn’t recognize(Tangle), she immediately grabbed my attention.
IDW Sonic Issue #16 was the first comic I “read” that featured Tangle.(I say “read” bc I was really watching a Adrenaline Dubs on youtube) Her personality was very similar to an OC I had made for a different fandom, bubbly, adventurous, loud, excitable, so that was another reason she stood out.
and then I got to Issue #24.
That sealed the deal. Her fun banter with Sonic, slowly transitioning to the reveal of her infection. Her undying optimism and faith in Sonic, the way she kept that confident grin on her face as she single-handily fights off of a town- her hometown of zombots, as the infection crept up her spine- AUGHH! CHILLS!
And really every Tangle moment after that just heightened my appreciation for the character. Her dialogue is fun to read and she’s such a friendly and supportive light to everyone she interacts with. A simple, fun design, with a concept that fits perfectly with the themes of Sonic the Hedgehog.
100/10 character.

(Mostly Chronological) IDW My Little Pony Reading Order
The small “arcs” of the main comic are listed together (like #1-#4, #5-#8, etc). Side comics with an ongoing story are listed with priority rather than chronological release order for smoother reading. Year of release is rounded to be with other issues of their arc.
It is not necessary to read this way, you can pretty much jump in wherever as most stories are self-contained. You should, however, watch whatever season of Friendship is Magic was out that year first. The G4 comics are supplementary material to it.
Get the 10th anniversary edition of issue #1 instead of the regular one. Definitely DO NOT use this site nor this site either if you can’t afford the comics.
