Something I love about Morrowind's faction questlines that is largely absent from later games is how so many questgivers are kinda just. Terrible people sending you to do their dirty work without it having to be like a big twist or story reveal about them being traitors or anything. Just assholes abusing the power their faction gives them in the most mundanely evil way.
Ranis in the Mages Guild sends you to accompany a Mage who requested to be escorted to a different town in exchange for his research notes, but she implies Not Very Subtly At All that if you were to just take him into the wilderness, murder him and steal his research notes she wouldn't be too upset about it.
Eydis from the Fighters Guild sends you to kill a bunch of "Telvanni Agents" who happen to be Thoeves Guild members (imo it's not very clear if they're ACTUALLY Telvanni Agents or she just wanted to send you to kill some Thieves Guild members bc of their faction feud and made up an excuse for it). If you press her about the fact that they're Thieves Guild members she gets that you're probably Thieves Guild too and you're worried about getting expelled if you kill other guild members and her response basically boils down to "Well the Thieves Guild can only expel you for killing these guys if someone tells them, and YOU are not gonna tell them, right? But also honestly I don't give a shit if they expel you"
Just like. Clearly terrible and evil people but not in the mwahahaha I'm an evil traitor way but in the callous, cynical, and banal way that most people who abuse their power over others are often evil.

Oh shit I completely forgot about the PM exchange thing.. anyway so here are my thoughts???!
Ok so first of all, we can be delulu yknow?? Everything will be resolved somehow and no one is going to the PM! Everyone is happy. I mean doesn't Asagiri always pull the least expected thing??
Second of all: no one is happy let's break it down member by member
Yosano: she ain't going.
Kenji: ok yknow what? I think the PM could benefit from his powers, and innocent personality! But aside from that, Kenji isn't really focused on, so the chance of this might be low, but still, reasonable.
Tanizaki: OKAY I saw someone else say this and I AGREE! Ofc it's the same thing with Kenji, it would be random asf for him to be the big sacrifice but! Tanizaki managed to trick the PM a few times with his ability! So this would make a lot of sense! I think the chance of this is higher honestly.
Kyouka: Ufff, guys idk... I mean she was in the PM not too long ago and she's focused on a good amount... This would make sense, knowing that Atsushi can't just steal her away anymore but... for a loooot of time, in the beginning of BSD, it was a whole back and forth thing with Kyouka getting to the PM, then escaping, then getting back, then escaping. So not only would the series fall back to that again, the PM might've just given up. Still, I feel like this has a 50/50 chance of happening, depending which way Asagiri wants to go.
Kunikida: As much as I don't want it happening, it might just happen.. I can't really say much about this one. Kunikida is smart, organised and loyal to the ADA and would die for them. But then again, he wouldn't stray away from his ideals and go off killing people and torturing them. I don't think this has a high chance of happening, I mean there's still a reasonable chance, but, it would be hard to work with him yk?
Atsushi: honestly, aint no way. I mean yes, the first major thing in the series was about the PM trying to catch Atsushi for money! But then again the relationship with the PM (mainly Aku) changed drastically for him! The guild isn't offering money to the PM for atsushi anymore, and Aku and Atsushi work together anyway! And mainly since he's the main character, I don't think he's going to have his POVs in the PM, since I think the ADA is going to get more focused on, and his relationship with Aku. NOT TO MENTION the fact that Dazai would DEFINITELY get him out of there bc??? His mentor?? Going down on the same path as him? Also as Aku? Killing people and basically becoming the person he promised Oda not to be anymore?? Aint no way.
Ranpo: Yeah... i could see it. But then again I don't. Because yeah it's reasonable for the PM to choose him, and since Ranpo is being focused on a lot currently, and it would really impact his story - Ranpo is then again a smart-ass brat who wouldn't even use his "ability" in the PM, especially since it's more helpful for detective work and not mafia work. So I have no clue about this one honestly, It would be interesting character arc but how would that like... work?
And lastly..
Dazai: Ah god, I wrote him last bc I don't know what to say! I mean most people I've seen guessed it was him going. And honestly? Fucking reasonable! Like why WOULDNT Mori pick Dazai? Like yeaaah he's scared of him, but throughout the series he asked Dazai a lot of times if he would come back! It would make a lot of sense! Especially since Dazai became older and wiser. Honestly the only big thing that's holding be back from actually betting on Dazai is that... would asagiri really put him back there? Right now? I mean, look, guy was in jail this entire time, barely goes back to the agency and boom, back to the PM. I think Dazai is going to be again crucial for this new arc, especially in Atsushi's character! I think, writing wise, Dazai shouldn't go back. But then again it's the most logical thing! I have so many thoughts about this.
Or then again Asagiri could just pull the most craziest shit that none of us were expecting so-

I often think about the ending jetski scene. Before Ashley's "Mission accomplished, right?" She steals a look at Leon (that pouty look), and the way she says it makes me feel like she sort of believes that Leon only cares about her because she is his mission. She seems sad about "mission being accomplished", because it means this is where Leon and she will part ways.
But then Leon replies "Mission accomplished... when you are home safe." Maybe he does want to prolong the time he can spend with her too. And I think that reply ignites some hope in Ashley, that's why she tests the water by asking if he wants to be her personal detail.
Also, the music in that scene is giving me a lot of vibes.
What do you think of that exchange in that scene?
I'm being 100% honest when I say that, the very first time I beat this game, there was a half-second where my brain legitimately thought they were going to kiss during that scene. And it was this weird moment of cognitive dissonance because I also knew that it was completely insane for me to think that, but that's what their body language was doing, that's what the tone of their voices was doing, and that's how the scene was being paced.
And I didn't even think she was going to kiss him -- I thought he was going to kiss her! WHICH IS EVEN MORE INSANE TO THINK. But that little pause between her saying "Thank you for saving me" and Leon going "Don't mention it" I just was like... ???????? Capcom what are you doing??????
Look at the way they're fucking looking at each other and the way that Leon is leaning back towards her are you fucking kidding me with this shit
Tumblr media
Honestly, he probably wanted to. Kiss her, that is. After everything they went through together and the bond that they formed and all that Leon had to overcome mentally and emotionally in order to get them both out of there alive... to hear her actually say the words out loud "You saved me" was probably more powerful and more moving for him than any "I love you" he's ever heard.
Don't forget that Ashley is Leon's first success story. He made the decision to study criminal justice at 18 in order to go into law enforcement at 21 with the desire and motivation to protect people. Now, he's 27 -- nearly ten years removed from that initial decision -- and he has only ever watched people die and gotten people killed instead. There were probably so many emotions going through him in this moment that it's actually impressive that he didn't lean back and kiss her -- or even choke up and cry. (Though, you can tell he kind of wanted to do both. Probably at the same time.)
I don't think that Ashley thinks that Leon only cares about her because of the mission; I just think that she knows that their time together is about to come to an end, and she's not sure how he's feeling about it, so she's trying to figure out from which angle she wants to approach the "I don't want you to disappear from my life" conversation.
And while Leon has the emotional intelligence of a bird (and that's on a good day), he does actually pick up on what she's trying to do with that line. That's why his response back to her is "Mission accomplished... when you're home safe." It's his way of saying "It's not quite over yet. We still have a little bit more time."
But then, when she pushes the issue, he's forced to face the uncomfortable reality of the circumstances of his own life. RE4make is a fairy tale, and Leon knows that fairy tales aren't real. When the story ends and the real world comes back and takes over, this dream of a romance they've been sharing will end, too.
That's why the very first piece of meta I wrote for this game was about his line "You don't need me." There's nothing that Leon would love more than to stay in this dream world of a fairy tale with her forever -- to remain at her side as her loyal knight until the end of days -- but he can't. And he knows he can't.
All he can do is try to assure her that things will be okay when they both wake up. But I'm not sure he believes it, himself.

Fandom: Hazbin Hotel
Summary: Molly and her coworkers discuss the rumors circulating Heaven after Princess Charlie's visit.
Word Count: 1232
Ao3 Link (Members only)
There were rumors in Heaven, but there were rumors everywhere. Gossip isn't a sin, after all.
Gossip is actually just a way of keeping informed, Molly learned when she took her Heaven Orientation classes when she first passed on. Everyone takes the classes, but not everyone takes the same classes. Molly, for instance, had a religious upbringing despite what her family’s work life might suggest, so she had been able to test out of most Abrahamic Religions courses. There had still been a few she needed—all religions had a little bit of truth, a lot of lies, and a lot of borrowing or stealing from each other—so there were, of course, misconceptions and clarifications to learn. And one of those clarifications was about gossip.
It's not a sin to gossip. Gossip is just exchanging information. Now, how a person handles gossip—that can be a sin. Being delighted that your neighbor was caught sleeping with his secretary and spreading the news to the whole town without telling his wife? Sin. But passing along the word that your neighbor was a no-good cheating dastardly whose wife needed help? Well, that's just taking care of the community.
Gossip was labeled a sin by those in power, particularly by men. Gossip gives women information, and information is power. And women simply should not be empowered.
But now Molly is in Heaven. She is in Heaven and she passed all her Heaven Orientation classes years ago in 1953, and then even went back to university for a business degree. She is well-educated and she knows better than what her past human self would have.
So when she hears the first bits of gossip, she listens before she dismisses.
It's a silly thought, after all. Heaven is very open, and God especially. Divine News Network is in close contact with God's Council, and they report everything the people of Heaven should know. If there were so-called Exterminations happening in Hell, then they would have been told long before they ever sent a killing squad down.
Heaven is perfect. Everyone is happy and everyone is good. They have no need to send angels or saints down to kill, and if they did, then there is no way that they could return: a killer flying in Heaven? No way.
Those in Heaven have risen above such disgrace. Killing people? Committing genocide on a people that have no where to flee to? That sin was for humans still alive on Earth, or sinners and demons in Hell. Even if  Hell’s population needed culling, surely the citizens there killed each other enough to solve the issue.
Molly doesn't believe they deserve to be smote for being damned. But she also knows that they belong there, and they likely continue to do things to belong there.
The rumor becomes a scary story to tell new saints. Give them the shivers before giving them a Heavenly Directory pamphlet, the standard after-living accommodations, and shoving them into Posthumous Guidance 101.
But then Princess Charlie of Hell comes up to Heaven, and when she goes back down to Hell, the rumors kick up again.
Molly doesn't look up from her sketchpad as her coworkers quietly murmur about the scandal, dissecting the morals and hypotheticals of it all.
“There's no way,” Sarah-Lynn says, embroidering flowers onto the skirt of a pink dress. “There's no reason for it.”
“There's a reason for everything,” carefully counters Abel, the oldest among them. He's also sketching. “Fear. Desire. Bloodlust.”
“Those are human reasons. We have risen above that.”
“Hmm.” Abel doesn't comment. Molly doesn't think he needs to. She starts to focus on giving her sketched model facial features and good hair instead of trendy new clothes.
“They say the Seraphim Emily has verified the killings,” comments Ashley—their youngest, and still attending Heaven Orientation—quietly from her place at the sewing machine. “They're called Exterminations. Like they're pests in a flat.”
“It's just not true, Ashley,” Sarah-Lynn scoffs. “We have everything we could ever need here. Why would we endanger that to kill sinners an entire dimension away?”
Abel shrugs. Ashley’s head lowers.
Molly bites her lip, then says as casually as she can, “There's a lot more sinners than there are saints.”
It's silent, the only sounds being the sewing machine and the pencils to the sketchpads.
“Oh, honestly, Molly. You too?”
“We still feel fear. We wouldn't be having this conversation if we couldn't.”
And that is the crux of the situation, isn't it? Fear is imperfect; Heaven is not. For both to coexist is paradoxical.
“What are you suggesting?”
“Just a hypothetical.” Molly smiles. She starts to detail the eyes of her model.
“Well,” Sarah-Lynn huffs. “I don't have any family or friends in Hell. So at least there's that if nothing else.”
It's a crude suggestion, but most people don't. It is hard to make it to Heaven when a person is surrounded by evil and temptation. Still, it causes Molly to pause, and from the way the sewing machine goes quiet and Abel's shoulders go tense, she's not the only one.
“I don't have family or friends in Hell, either,” says Abel, his brow furrowed. He’s a little green.
“....Same here,” Ashley says.
Molly stares hard at her drawing, wondering if the floppy hair and freckles beneath the model's eyes actually look familiar, or if she's just scaring herself. Is a real person? Does she know him? Does he know her? Miss her? Love her? Should she miss him? Love him? Worry for him?
No, she decides. She doesn't know him.
“I haven't mourned anyone,” she answers their silent stares.
She spends the rest of that shift trying to think of one saint—just one— who has admitted to mourning a sinner that they knew personally. Then she spends the rest of the evening trying. Then the night.
Then, at 2 AM, after lots of tossing and turning, she gets up from bed. She walks to her work bag and pulls out her sketchpad, turning to the page with the model with floppy hair.
She stares at his eyes and his grin. Do I remember? Do I feel sad? I know you, don't I?
She should at least name him. Even if she doesn't know him, there must be someone down there who needs someone up here to care.
She digs out a pink pen and scribbles the first name that comes to mind underneath the model's feet. Then she shuts the pad and puts it back in her bag.
Right. Bed time.
As she walks into her room, her eyes land on the rosary on her dresser. She feels cold with conviction. She grabs the rosary, fingers closing over the cross, and then she presses it between her hands.
Molly closes her eyes and she doesn't go through the proper steps, but she does pray for someone she doesn't know is real.
When she opens her eyes, she doesn't even remember what she was praying for.
xxXxx
A few days later, Molly opens her sketchpad to review her designs from the last week. She stops at a model with floppy hair.
“Why'd you name that one Anthony?” Abel asks from beside her.
She looks at the model's mischievous grin, “I don't know.”
Molly runs her fingertips over Anthony's hair, and if she wasn't in Heaven, she would think she feels sad.

asasghj Could you see Celebi sacrificing herself to give her powers to Grovyle? Like, it's a last ditch effort to save the world and Grovyle doesn't want to get her powers but world is gonna end if she doesn't give them to him. asdfgh Or like, Dusknoir could steal Celebi's powers to stop Grovyle, OR I guess he could just try to take Dialga's powers cause you CAN'T disappear from time if you ARE time. asdfgh Imagine if you could stack them like a super villain so that you could have Celebi's, Darkrai's, AND Dialga's powers all at once? WAIT Could legendaries steal OTHER legendaries powers? asdfghjk But then how would a Darkrai Cresselia combo work? Would they just balance each other out and like, they just, wouldn't have any dream inducing side affects??? asdfghjk Sorry I had to ask this I just drank caffeine-
No need to apologize! I love to answer the questions I get!
The idea of Celebi asking Grovyle to kill her to grant him her powers so the world had a chance of being saved has slain me. I don't know if I can personally see Celebi doing so, but never say never! With enough angsty circumstances, anything is possible!
As for Dusknoir stealing Celebi's powers, that's a pretty critical point of his backstory--- he always failed to capture Celebi, and this was very intentional. Celebi's shouldering a small part of the management of time was the sole reason that time hadn't completely frozen in the Dark Future and people were able to still move around and stuff instead of being trapped, frozen for all of eternity, aware of everything around them yet unable to do anything but scream within their minds. Dusknoir only cornered Celebi for the first time during the scene in which he reveals Twig's identity to Grovyle, and that was against his will. He couldn't exactly let her escape with Dialga breathing down his neck, after all. Allowing Celebi to die or killing her himself to gain her powers would throw out the delicate balance of the Dark Future.
Dusknoir is also a believer of the idea that a mortal cannot kill a Legend, but he has extensively researched ways to seal away Legends! Unfortunately, he never found a method that would work on Dialga specifically.
Legends, including former mortal Legends, actually aren't able to gain additional powers through the deaths of other Legends. To kill a Legend and receive their powers, you have to be a mortal--- in order to kill the divine, you must sacrifice your humanity (or whatever term pokemon would use--- pokemonhood?) and house the energy that is forced out of its former home upon the Legend's death. So once you're immortal after killing a Legend, you can't trade any mortality for more powers, and therefore don't get any bonus packages. It ain't called the Mortality Exchange AU for nothing!
Even though Darkrai and Cresselia couldn't gain each other's powers, there's a fun bit of lore that they were originally a single being while they were developing before they abruptly split off from each other, with each of them getting 1/2 of the original being's powers. If you smooshed 'em together, you'd get the proto-lunar-being! That being could control both dreams, nightmares, sleep, healing, and more with complete control! Although hanging around this being for very long would definitely make you painfully drowsy, you wouldn't have to worry about having terrible nightmares if you fell asleep there.

How do you think Munch lived before? Where did he live? Where does he sleep? I wanted some details, because I'm trying to write some kind of fic and I'm not that good at it, what do you think? Where was he before Roy hired him? I wanted to write a fic without all the erotic stuff that part of the fandom does, I want something more serious, about his trajectory. So, I wanted some ideas: did he live by breaking into houses? Did he live on empty plots of land? What was he eating? What did he do on a daily basis? Where does he get cigarettes and so on? Sam said that the idea is that he doesn't carry things with him, because he's the kind of guy who when he needs to, grabs a gun, a cigarette and so on. Like the scene of him picking up the cigarette from the ground, what did he do before? What kind of jobs was he taking? Just kidnappings and murders? What do you imagine? Has he had other "Irma's"? Where did he break in and stay quietly in the person's house? Where did he sleep in the meantime? I would like some insights, I am grateful for your headcanons.
Tumblr media
all great questions!! under the cut since my responses are kinda long:
so according to munch in the finale, he doesn't need to sleep. we can assume his curse has left him biologically frozen in time like a vampire. i think he was still able to rest & eat, but they dont actually serve any real purpose. he's not restored afterward nor would he suffer when deprived of those things. he closes his eyes, but he doesnt relax or dream. he eats, but it just disappears inside him. this makes it tricky to pinpoint why exactly he's a smoker, though. if i had to pull something out of my ass real quick, i'd say its an easy way to confirm his own existence, like how we can see our breath when its cold, or when we hold our hands close to fire. it becomes addicting to him in that sense, rather than his body needing nicotine itself. he wouldn't respond negatively to cigarettes at all, but because tobacco just generally stains anything it's in prolonged contact with, that explains why his teeth are so tarnished.
as for jobs, i genuinely think he was a drifter in every sense of the word. he has an innate need for creature comforts so i think his quests to find those things lead him to kill-or-be-killed situations. money is also a tricky topic bc idk what it'd mean to him apart from a sign that the completion of a job has been acknowledged & properly compensated. he didn't seem to care about roy's money once he acquired it. my guess is, in relation to your "irma" question as well, that he leaves money where it's most needed. he clearly gave some to her when she returned to the house with groceries.
munch might have acquired firearms by brazenly attacking organized crime circles or just stealing off of criminals. i think he'd be efficient & quick enough that the murders would just be reported as internal conflict.
i don't see him as a vigilante but i also don't think he'd just hurt people indiscriminately. he's had centuries for his hatred of the rich to fester, & he's very clearly disturbed by the deaths of innocents re: irma. i understand this is kind of a conundrum where dot is concerned, but again, it's represented through a cycle. munch maintains it by allowing himself to be employed by the powerful to secure that throwaway money. all he knows after being hired by the tillmans is that a rich man wants his wife back, whom he probably assumes is also rich, like bunny lebowski. it's only after he sees how hard dot fights back that he questions the nature of the job.
i think munch has had other "irma's", but not recently. i said this in a previous post, but i think every once in a while back in the day he'd stop by a rural family's home & offer to help them out for a bit in exchange for food & board, which he only took advantage of for a couple of days out of fear that his presence would somehow attract danger. again, this is less of a need to satisfy biological hunger & more about his hunger for companionship & family. losing that which he found in the indigenous tribes that invited him in left him very hesitant to seek it out anywhere else. fleeting moments are better than none at all. something else to dwell on is him assigning irma as his temporary "mama". from this we can infer 3 things:
he misses having a mom, & he wants someone to take care of him. obvious.
calling her his "mama" might be a way of apologizing for scaring her. awkward, yes. ineffective, yes. but the title suggests purity, hardship, and the respect owed to a mother who exhibits those things. another example of his innate connection to women.
he suggests it casually, showing he doesn't feel guilty for breaking in. this interested me for a bit since it makes him partly responsible for irma's death, but the more i thought about it, it makes sense because he is aware of his own power, power he wasn't employing to bully. in exchange for her charity, he promised to protect her. this made her death that much worse & undoubtedly stirred past trauma.
there's also the question of his sudden need for a mama. what about the dot job made him that lonely or scared? my theory is that the kin connection to dot was sparked during their "battle". he didn't know how to respond to it, especially considering this woman was briefly his victim. he figured he could seek an outlet somewhere else, but somewhere incedentally close to dot, in a house in the suburbs. his ability to "know people" must've told him that irma was not one of the suburbanites. she is ignored, her house is falling apart, etc. this is presumably why he didn't break into a more well-off house.
when he doesn't want to go through the trouble of bothering people, he'd most likely find uninhabited homes or buildings to squat in. the little hut in the beginning of episode 9 intrigued me, but nothing about it suggested it was owned by him. it might just be a shed used by ice fishers. it made me think of the one wrench & numbers used in s1 to keep warm.
as for what munch does in his spare time, there's nothing in the show to really drive me in one direction or another, so i like to think he reads. finding books without the use of a library is not uncommon (those little free libraries where ppl leave books for others to take). plus he can just steal & then leave them somewhere when he's done. i like to think reading is how he learned to speak english, even way back in his early years.

Request by: @cheeseburger-tony
*not my gif*
Summary: You had just gotten Obi-Wan back- practically from the dead- so you didn’t expect to see someone else from your past in the same day
A/N: I apologize, I haven’t seen this episode in a while so I was kinda going off of memory bc I didn’t feel like rewatching it
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
The momentary thrill you had been feeling at seeing Obi-Wan again came to temporary halt as the reality of the situation came crashing down on you.
You felt your eyes flicker over to the other two people in the room, both of whom were now getting slightly antsy.
“Y/n, meet Princess Leia Organa. Leia, meet Y/n.” The man introduced.
The young girl walked up to you, and you got on one knee to be at her height and stuck out a hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, your majesty.”
As she took your hand in hers, you couldn’t help the small spark of curiosity that you felt. She seemed so familiar, yet you knew that you had never met her in your life.
The force seemed to be pulling you towards her for some reason that was unknown to you.
But before you could think about any of it further, Obi-Wan helped you to your feet and looked at Tala expectantly.
“It will be just through here.” She ushered the three of you to another secret door, “Follow this hallway and you will find the pilot that will get you off of this planet.”
“No.” Obi-Wan said firmly, his gaze already having wandered to the door that he had come into, as if something was about to happen, “You three go, I’ll meet you there. There is something I must take care of first.”
He bent down and exchanged a few words with Leia that you could not hear, all you felt was confusion and it seemed to be clouding a few of your senses.
He tried to stride away, but you quickly grabbed his arm, pulling him back, “What are you doing?” You hissed, “We have to get out of here.”
He smiled sadly at you and put a hand on your shoulder, “I need you to promise me something.” He didn’t wait for you to respond before continuing, “I need you to promise me that you will protect that girl.”
“Of course.” You didn’t even hesitate, “But you can help me. I know nothing about caring for a child.”
He smiled at you one last time before giving a look to Tala.
She read it loud and clear.
The look said, ‘Watch over them’.
And she nodded in understanding.
You watched his retreating back as he once again left you all alone. You had just gotten your friend back but he left as quickly as he had gotten there.
“Come.” Tala spoke softly, beckoning you and Leia to join her in the hall.
So, with one last longing look over your shoulder, you joined them.
The entire time you were walking, you had a weird tingly feeling that you couldn’t get rid of, and suddenly you couldn’t take it anymore.
You came to an abrupt halt.
The other two looked at you, “Keep going, get to the safety of the ship and if we are not back soon, get out of here as fast as you can.”
“But-“ Tala tried to argue.
“There’s something wrong. Obi-Wan is in danger, I must go.” Without another word, you turned on your heel to go back the way you came, more power in your steps then there were before.
What you didn’t tell them was that there was something more, you couldn’t just sense Obi-Wan's pain. You could sense another’s pain as well.
Something about that seemed so, so familiar to you, but you could not figure out who it was to save your life.
Maybe that’s what drew you back, not just the unknowing of if Obi-Wan's pain was physical or mental. From your experience, there’s a high chance that it was both.
After exiting the passage and then the building, your eyes scanned over the scene before you.
People lay on the ground, crying, while storm troopers searched the area for anyone else.
You knew that these troopers weren’t going to hurt these people, if they wanted to they would have already, so using some of your Jedi training that you hadn’t used in years, you slipped past the guards.
You allowed the force to pull you to where you needed to go.
When you finally found Obi-Wan, you almost wished you hadn’t.
He looked tired, yet to notice you, as he ran at too slow a pace and kept looking over his shoulder.
And that’s when you saw him. Darth Vader.
You had only heard tale of the vile and cruel man who ruled directly under the emperor himself.
He was clad in black armor and a mask, taller than the stories let on.
While Obi-Wan hadn’t sensed your presence, the sith lord had, and he slowly halted his stride to turn to look at you.
“Y/n.” He said, sounding as if the word was breathed out, but it was hard to tell with the voice filter.
Then your entire world came crashing down.
Anakin.
There was no doubt about that in your mind now.
Though his voice was so, so very different, there was a glimmer of the voice you used to know. The one you had believed to die a long time ago.
You hadn’t even noticed your breathing pick up as you took a stumbling step back.
That’s why you had sensed something so familiar, it was because it was your own brother.
But it wasn’t him, not really.
The aura around him was darker now, the force clouded, that’s why you hadn’t known it was him right away.
You couldn’t tear your horrored wide eyes away from the man in black, not even when Obi-Wan took a step closer to you.
“Y/n,” He said lowly, holding out a hand as if to calm you, “That is not Anak-“
He couldn’t even finish his sentence before he was thrown backwards into a large pile of sand.
Anakin hadn’t even lifted a finger, but you knew it was him that did it. He always used to be able to do things like that, always showing off and trying to be better than you.
“It has been a long time.” The voice now held no trace of your brother, perhaps you had been imaging it before.
You couldn’t find it in yourself to say anything, all of the words had left your throat.
Obi-Wan had slowly begun to scramble up once again to try and face the two of you, “Stay away from her-“
He was once again thrown back, more forcefully this time.
“You have been by yourself for far too long.” He spoke as if it was how things used to be, when he knew what you were thinking and feeling without you needing to even say a word, “Come, join me, and you won’t have to be alone again.” He reached a hand out for you.
“Join you?” You asked in bewilderment, eyes closing as your hands lifted up and ran through your hair, “You’re asking me to join you?”
Obi-wan had been able to once again stand up, but he didn’t speak, meaning he wasn’t thrown back again.
“Two minutes ago I thought you were dead- killed by our own clones- and you’re asking me to join you?”
“Killed by our own clones,” He mused, turning to face Obi-Wan. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking or feeling with that obnoxious mask over his face, “So the old man didn’t tell you?”
Though his words were directed at you, he still faced his former master.
Your eyebrows furrowed, feeling as if you were going to explode from the amount of confusion you were feeling and the questions you had, but you didn’t dare speak.
Obi-Wan's eyes were squeezed tight, “Don’t.”
You couldn’t tell if it was a command, or a beg.
“I sought out to be better than the Jedi ever could be, to do more for the Galaxy.” He explained, and even through the mask you could feel his eyes zero in on you, “None of them seemed to be too fond of that idea.”
He looked over his shoulder as if throwing Obi-Wan a meaningful glance before turning back to you.
It seemed that the older man lost his ability to speak, instead he settled for a look of petrified horror.
“Obi-Wan didn’t exactly agree with my methods either, so he fought against me and left me to die. Apparently, he thought I was dead all these years.” If you weren’t mistaken, there was slight humor in his voice.
For the first time, your eyes were torn away from the man before you, over to Obi-Wan's hunched form and tightly closed eyes. You didn’t even need to ask to know that it was the truth.
Not too long ago you had received the happiest news of your life, Obi-Wan was alive, only to find out that he tried to kill your brother who had always been one of the most dangerous people in the Galaxy. And this time, he wasn’t on your side.
“Which is why he deserves this.”
You hadn’t even noticed when a fire started burning to your side, too absorbed in the people in front of you, until Anakin lifted his hands up and dragged Obi-Wan through it painfully slowly.
The man let out a screaming cry of agony, snapping you out of your thoughts.
“Stop!” You demanded out of desperation, stepping forward as if you could help the man. Clearly you couldn’t, though.
“This is what he did to me.” Was the only reply you received.
Tears began to fill your eyes for a million different reasons, and you felt your head shake slightly as you looked back at your brother.
“You’re not my brother.” It was a realization, and though the words came out in a whisper, his head snapped over to you.
He was no longer Anakin Skywalker. Before you stood Darth Vader.
His hand dropped, for what reason you don’t know, but that was just enough time for Tala- who you didn’t even know was there- to drag Obi-Wan out of the fire and begin to get him away.
You were on the same side of the fire as her, opposite of the Sith Lord.
All you could do was stare at him for a moment before turning on your heel and following Tala without another word.
There was nothing left to say.
You quickly moved to wrap Obi-Wan's other arm around your shoulder, helping support his weight so that the other woman didn’t have to bear it all.
Though he appeared to be fading in and out of consciousness, he allowed his head to fall back so that he looked up at you, “I’m… sorry.” He wheezed out.
You shook your head, staring straight ahead as you continued to walk, “He wasn’t my brother anymore, someone had to stop him.”
“He wasn’t… our Anakin.” He said, letting his head fall back towards the ground, eyes fluttering closed.
You looked down at the man who tried to, and thought that he did, kill your brother.
But whatever hatred and betrayal that you were feeling before he was dragged into the fire, vanished.
If your brother had been acting like himself, he wouldn’t have hesitated to let Obi-Wan try and kill him. He never would have wanted to become this… monster.
Your brother was gone, and you had to come to terms with that fact all over again. Years of working at it were now a waste. And you had to start over.

Any headcanons about Blicy and in particular jealous Icy? Both if they are together and not
Thank you :D
I don't have much currently since I haven't needed a lot of Blicy headcanons for the stories I write and that's how I usually come up with them. But let's see:
Icy will never admit it but looking back on things, she's glad she was there when Bloom first transformed. She did consider Bloom just a weakling of a pixie at first but later learning that Bloom had the Dragon Fire, she started feeling like Bloom was meant to bring the power to Icy and so being witness to Bloom's first transformation makes sense to her.
Later still that develops in Icy feeling like they have this grand pre-destined rivalry. It annoys her that Bloom doesn't seem to take it seriously and that's why she always ups her game in her attempts to take as much as possible from Bloom to force her to start giving her all to their rivalry (that's why she attacked Sky in 2x10). It backfires because it only makes Bloom want to think about Icy as little as possible. She only later finds out that she actually doesn't mind the way Icy challenges her if she doesn't have to worry about Icy harming anyone in the process.
Bloom really wishes she could talk to Icy about the Dragon Fire and the Trix stealing it but she knows that will never happen. She herself was deeply scarred by having the power ripped out of her but she would still like to have someone who understands what it's like to have that power since the only person who does is a spirit that she can only exchange a few words with at a time. And the Trix seemed to know a lot more about their common backstory than she does. However, Icy is absolutely enraged about the way all of that went down and she would never agree to a civil chat. Especially knowing it would soothe a lot of Bloom's anxieties about her powers and the loneliness she experiences because of having it.
Icy actually never planned on killing Bloom because if she does, she feels like it will lessen the impact of her besting Bloom. If Bloom is gone, there will be no one that can stand up to Icy and so her power will not stand out by being juxtaposed with that of the person who has the most powerful magic in the universe. Sure, she'll have her past victory but she can just hear people saying that she used some underhanded trick to kill Bloom which would dispute her skills. Her ideal world for a long time was just fighting Bloom every other day and kicking Bloom's ass every time in a show of superiority.
Icy later discovers that actually losing to Bloom makes her learn and work a lot more than winning does. She likes the fact that when she gets to win, she does because she really put in all her effort and power into it and so it feels deserved and satisfying. She always hated the idea of not being able to win against whoever she's facing but that's because no one ever felt like they could truly match and defeat her. But with Bloom she can accept a defeat if it means she gets to try again and win the rematch. It makes her realize that her ideal world actually includes Bloom's continued existence in her life as an equal with whom she can maintain a balance of defeats and victories.
That's why they end up sparring a lot when they do get together. And they bring some of that competitiveness into other things as well. But not just as them trying their best against each other but also for each other. Icy doesn't feel the need to prove her superiority and flaunt it around because it feels like she's already won everything that matters. She found her match and Bloom likes the fact that she's driven and how much she already has to offer while also encouraging her to be her best self in whatever way Icy understands that. And it turns out that doesn't include taking over the world, actually, when she already feels like she owns the world since she has the best it can offer - her sisters and Bloom and the freedom to not let anyone tell her what to do.
That said, I can't imagine Icy being jealous for those exact reasons. I don't think Bloom would give her a reason to feel jealous either. Sure, their history isn't pretty and it would be cause for concern that Bloom would rather be with someone else but Icy actually takes it as proof that Bloom doesn't want anyone else. A relationship with Icy was about the hardest relationship path Bloom could have taken and she still did it because Icy is who she wants. I can see Icy being very active when it comes to reminding everyone of that, especially the people that try to make Bloom reconsider their relationship. (I could actually see her saying that she could have been the one charming Bloom instead of Avalon and it still would have worked even after what had happened between the two of them the previous year.)

Thank you for the tag @darker-overlord ! 🫶✨️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have two characters so let's talk about both of them 😩 tho I show a lot my favoritism with Irina but ssh we're not here to talk about that
Zazu Suwan 🪽
To be honest, Zazu was more a random thoughts creation than something planned. Tho there are some things that came to my mind when I was doing my own Frankenstein 👺
-> Zazu (The Lion King): This lil feathered asshole is the main and base of Zazu's character sjsjsjsjsj
From the name and the colors, to the personality.
Zazu is the advisor of the kings, but he is very moody and his demand does not help with things either, especially his work. However, he is loyal and very intelligent but pretty hot-tempered
The combination of its colors seemed interesting to me: a serene blue with a bright and striking yellow.
In other words... Why not? Sjsjsjsj
-> Nanami Kento (Jujutsu Kaisen): Nanami is a similar case as the first. Very demanding, very hard-working, strict, serious, you question whether he can have emotions because of how inexpressive he is...
And his voice actor omg... That deep hoarsely voice 👽
-> Butterflies: You have no idea, neither I do why butterflies sjsjsjsjsjsj
But when I was making Zazu all I could have in my mind it's butterflies for some reason??? It might be a sign that I used them as inspiration, but I can't point with my finger where.
-> Felix Lee (Stray Kids): BITCH HOL' UP LET ME EXPLAIN.
I've never been a big fan of K-pop, but when I discovered Felix I was definitely blown away.
First of all: HIS DAMN VOICE. He's voice is so versatile and can reach very deep tones like pls listen to his rap omg 😭
Besides, I was inspired by his beautiful wolfcut, with his mixture of colors to make Zazu's hair too.
Also, I threw in Zazu a pinch of Korea¿? Sjsjsjsj like yeah he's Taiwanese but with Korean ancestry because it's a totally beautiful culture with an amazing history 😩
-> Dororo (Hyakkimaru): Here I got a little inspiration from Dororo's childhood.
Abandoned boy being disowned by one of his parents, he trained to survive and kill monsters, plus he is expressionless... Mm yes good lore for character development 🤌✨️
-> Eye tattoo: Well, this is a rather curious fact.
Even though Zazu was able to be born with black sclera, he was born with white/normal sclera.
However, since his physique before resembled that of his mother, he decided to modify himself to be more like his father, whom he admired so much.
For this, he tattooed his sclera black to have them the same as his father 💅
Tbh another inspiration I would add is Tanatos, greek god of death without violence bc I love sweet ironies 🏃🏼‍♀️ But it's deeper than that but you wouldn't hear the end of it.
Irina Avenel 🌼
Now here comes my favorite baby gaaalllllll
Honestly Irina has many more sources of inspiration, but I decided to put the most important ones
-> Eris (Simbad): Her attidude. The way this goddess of discord subtly manipulates people to her liking, solely to please her whim. Interestingly enough, Eris is also an Entj.
Eris is a very smart goddess but she doesn't like to get her hands dirty, so she chose a smuggler to get what she wanted. What I loved about her was her use of mental manipulation and blackmail, making the smuggler believe that stealing the object she wanted and giving it to her in her possession would bring new changes and was the best option, besides that in exchange she would give him wealth for his good work.
Which was a lie but that's the best part.
Eris has a magnetic and seductive energy, but she doesn't particularly use seduction to get what she wants. She prefers the mind games.
And that's exactly what I wanted for Irina 😩🤌🏻
-> Carmilla (Castlevania): Another strong woman. She is a very strategic vampire as well as cunning, not to mention one of the most powerful.
Carmilla plays a manipulative role just like Eris, but this is more to change a situation she doesn't like to another rather than getting things on a whim. She has her own moralities of right and wrong, and she fights to enforce them once she gets the upper hand.
Something that also influenced me in the creation of Irina was her dominant personality, leadership nature and her elegance, apart from being one of the bloodiest vampires.
In addition to her hatred and disgust for men
-> Persephone: Persephone is one of my favorite goddesses in Greek mythology along with Aphrodite, but without a doubt her myth of the seasons is my favorite above all.
She is a goddess who represents the beautiful side of life, plus she is mostly painted with a first impression of gentleness and compassion.
However, she can become quite spiteful and even vengeful when certain limits are crossed, especially if they are related to her husband Hades.
Like, imagine being a goddess of spring, and being the queen of "hell" 😩
She is a very generous and empathetic goddess when a certain trust is attached to her.
-> Black cat / Felicia Hardy (Spiderman): MY WIFE SINCE I'M A CHILD.
Another cunning and elegant woman like a cat, with a flirtatious and playful personality.
Apart from that, I was inspired by Felicia for Irina's physique. As you can see, they share similar hair (shape and cut), the shape of their eyes and even their body type.
She's so dorky sometimes too I couldn't just not make Irina like that too 🥺
-> Yumeko Jabami (Kakegurui): The craziness of this bitch sjsjsjsjsjsj
Like she's so damn slick, and has a somewhat twisted way of taking things in.
Addiction to adrenaline from betting, indifference and tranquility in situations that get out of control or even go against it, is something that I loved about this character. How easily bored if something does not have a bit of danger.
And something else that many did not know, is that I also took her voice for Irina: Our beautiful Hayami Saori 🛐
HER VOICE IS SO PERFECT FOR IRINA
-> Hürrem / Alexandra the Rose (The Sultan): Another woman who is quite admirable 😩 But we'll talk about the Hürrem of The Sultan series, since it's more dramatized from the real historical Hürrem.
Her growth from as low as a slave to being the Empress of the Ottoman Empire thanks to her strategy and stubbornness was something she needed to give Irina.
Hürrem has a short temper, but she is rigid in her position and never gives up or lets others humiliate her. She is also not afraid to kill if that allows her to meet your goals.
HIGH IQ WOMAN LIKE SHE WAS ALWAYS TWO STEPS AHEAD OF OTHERS.
An excellent mother and very affectionate although strict, but she educated her children very well.
Something else I took from Hürrem for Irina is her enormous loyalty, her extravagance and even arrogance, but especially how much she fell in love with a person despite the fact that it tortured her.
Possessive, jealous and obsessed love is not a very good thing if we talk about real life, but the sacrifice that was made to continue being happy with his love was something that I also saw that came to resonate with Irina.

╰     cis man , he/him/his     ☆     𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐔𝐏𝐎𝐍 𝐀 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 …   we’re introduced to SANTOS SALAZAR SANTIAGO , the TWENTY EIGHT year old GUIDE at EMERALD CITY ART GALLERY from enchanted falls who bears a striking resemblance to DARIO YAZBEK. the whispers in the wind tells us of their EASYGOING and IDEALISTIC reputation, that’s why the townsfolk often are reminded of once upon a time are the sweetest words in any world; if you don’t like the person you are, enough time and magic will surely make you a new one; the precocious child with his head in the clouds grows into an adult with rose-colored glasses; i don’t go looking for trouble, it usually just finds me.  they are often haunted by dreams of a life lived as BASTIAN BALTHAZAR BUX / THE SHAGGY MAN ( THE NEVERENDING STORY / THE WIZARD OF OZ ) .
i. it starts on a day like any other, like any good story. he's ten. intelligent, unpopular, being raised by his father: his only surviving parent. a dentist and a man too out of touch with his own emotions to guide his son through grief, bastian is alone most days. so he escapes. he's read every book he could get his hands on, devouring one novel after another with the frenzied desire only accessible to neglected children. and suddenly there's a book unlike any other. when you stop reading those other books, you get to be a little boy again, the grizzled old shopkeeper tells him. those other books are safe. he steals the book when the old man's back is turned, and quickly loses himself in the neverending story. he follows the great hero atreyu on his quest to save fantasia from the nothing, but both protagonist and reader are left utterly baffled when, in the final chapter, the childlike empress herself tells atreyu that he cannot save fantasia. but bastian can. ii. he gives the empress a new name, and she is reborn with a new identity. a new fantasia to rule over. she entrusts bastian with auryn, an amulet which gives the wearer unlimited wishes. it's only after the boy becomes a man while adventuring through fantasia that he learns the cost of bearing auryn. every wish steals a memory from the human who possesses auryn, until they find themselves helplessly lost in fantasia, with no memory of who or where they are. with only his own name and the memory of his father remaining, bastian spends decades toiling to reclaim everything he's lost. the lost memories have to go somewhere, and so they do. a mine, where each memory becomes trapped in the stone as a painting on canvas. by the time he returns to his world as a little boy again, he's lived to be an old man once already. some years go by, and then he meets a girl named dorothy. when auryn reveals itself to her, bastian expects their journey to end in fantasia. instead, he finds himself in a land called oz. ozma takes him in, and in exchange, he donates auryn to the emerald city. in fantasia, he nearly killed his best friend in a fit of power-hungry rage. he would not make the same mistakes again in oz. there, he's known for his compassion and his love. iii. in enchanted falls, truthfully not much has changed for him. while he doesn't have the memories of all he's learned in fantasia, the curse couldn't take from him how tender and full of love his adventures made him. he's a painter in his spare time, and teaches others about art for work. very rarely is he found without at least one other "oz" character, but he's very friendly -- albeit a little awkward -- and loves to help the people around him in whatever ways he can.

Seriously he's leaving it for his wife and she gets it and it's preserved much better and she's using your mind now she's picking it up and using it. You people are all dead and we're going to make sure it happens if this plan it's a bunch of assholes who think that they can talk to us and talk to him, in topic. Now they do it try and steal stuff I'm going to do it to get rid of them in reverse as we have been. But we're going to add some stuff to it now like something from talking to him he doesn't want to hear from you jackasses.
On this morning's agenda by Mac is the fire john rma Lord AKA prumel. So said is asking where you going to go because you don't even know you're trapped and because he knows how you react that's right you're spazzes you trumpsters it's like when you're in the basement with those aliens and here we go too you're starting to yell it and it needs that we know he needs it. And yeah all your friends went down there mixed race different race returns like Garth to go a little Island
The number of other things happening but yeah they're going to go for the sheriff now today if not today tomorrow right now they have fired all but around 200 Port Charlotte now it's Charlotte county sheriff and they'll probably go pretty quick today that's the only thing between you and everything according to you Trump mac Daddy answer last sentence. We are finally papers now and we're going to sue them and him for everything they're worth she started ruining his life on purpose then. Yeah you stuck to her son and his entire clan and family and clones are going down and with nothing too and they deserve it everybody should witness what has happened to this idiot and what our father and mother had us put him through they're already poor it's great cover but you should see what kind of numb skull this person really is he's been through the mill and now it's just time it's done we have huge businesses giant businesses are hours in your mess in your perimeter today we're going to acquire two companies and there are some side effects more but I'm going to lose those later
**United airlines is a big one with Aaron Mianke he thought he's going to win everything and he really slowed down there and got taken apart because of his attitude here and his talk, we don't want someone around where we can't even get a word in at all insurance edgewise so we started attack him and he got worse and worse and now this is one of the last few businesses he has he's got five businesses that are big and after this he will have four and after the next one three and after the next one too and that's what's happening right now
**if you're not a big shot here you have to be anybody. American airlines were taking over Lock stock and barrel. ours this afternoon, and we're taking over in hostile takeover it still means that we get the stock but it means that his stock s are not to be purchased from them because they are in illegal entity in the United States as they're declared last night that's right Trump and his family that's why the woman is whatever she's doing threatening him I'd plan to be any combatants of the United States my son is mentioning the reason why you're doing this odd behavior and it's to try and treat us so we would erupt into combat with Max and not be able to infiltrate and didn't work and you keep on doing it now you're saying it's someone out loud and if it didn't work already what you're doing now you should know but have a negative effect that you're not smart
**Delta airlines they're taking this over as well each airline is more or less in a similar situation where they have very few trumps working there and hardly any more lock and it's time to take them over the stock is Frozen no it's handed over to us because we're taking over the company and they're a defunct organization is it declared it last night
There's one more airline
**Swiss Air and Lufthansa they're the same company no but both about the same size and we're signing them up to the max are signing up and they have to they can't maintain the s*** airplanes they can't build them repair them they don't want to and they're building spaceships and stuff so we're handling that
They were declared to be enemies of the United States last night and mac daddy will have a word
Thor Freya
Zues Hera finally on these five companies so that was terrible we were doing a lot of work and it was really uphill climb and see why now
There's a lot of work going to publish Olympus

So Shadow works for GUN... what does Infinite do? Lay around and steal his stuff? Shed all over the furniture? I can't imagine he does much else, being the diva that he is.
hehe, well this is a loaded ask i'm gonna see if structuring this with bullet points helps me stay at a reasonable wordcount 🤪
Shadow does not work for GUN by choice, he's basically hired by them because they're at a stalemate (he's op, they need him dead/in stasis, if he works for them he's controlled but also given "freedom" so it's as fair as it gets).
Rouge is set to take over as Commander, and she's honestly doing this to keep Omega and Shadow safe. Her job is to control them for GUN, and keep tabs on their abilities/cognitive functions/emotional wellbeing while earning their trust (so they are manageable to some degree).
While she is manipulating them in a rather fucked up way, she also lets them get away with a lot and covers for them to avoid the fate depicted in 06. This is why Rouge controls their missions, and essentially hired them herself since she was the only official agent at debut; she formed Team Dark in Heroes as a means of collecting/protecting those who would otherwise be GUN targets.
During Forces, Shadow was absent from the Resistance because he was keeping tabs on Infinite and observing the Phantom Ruby's power (which is why he's the one to figure it out and explain the illusions to Sonic et. al).
He also watched the footage of Sonic's imprisonment + torture via the taps Rouge placed as she worked from the inside under Eggman's rule, which makes him the most versed on the ruby (omitting Eggman and Infinite, but even that is questionable)
After Forces, Infinite is a liability. He has varying levels of power left depending on interpretation, and an otherwise untraceable background outside of Shadow and Eggman's knowledge, so GUN would ideally want to capture and study him. He's also a literal war criminal, they need him even if he no longer has the phantom ruby's power.
GUN has a horrible track record of capturing and studying cryptids (botched Sceptre of Darkness retrieval, Project Shadow, the ARK, Chaos, Sonic on multiple occasions, their best spy being a criminal who essentially blackmails them into compliance, the Babylon Rogues but that's a whole other issue, Eggman still existing, etc...)
Shadow knows this and, at least in my fic and for personal purposes, decides to locate and capture Infinite himself since he's the most versed and has the most power over the wayward jackal. After Episode Shadow, he knows the effect he has on Infinite, who was also just defeated again, so he's more likely to be controllable and compliant.
Infinite is also more likely to cooperate with Shadow because he is a fellow lone wolf, whose trauma originated from government agents recklessly killing his found-family members, which led to a robotnik manipulating him into being a weapon of mass destruction, which results him him trying to crash a celestial body into the earth... sound familiar? you get the point.
Shadow became the very image of the people that traumatized him, they have twin origin stories, and Shadow is essentially giving into the cycle of being a morally grey GUN agent who agrees to keep tabs on a war criminal in exchange for their limited freedom. He does what Rouge does for him basically!
Dog & Hog shipper or not, their edgy relationship can range from the most angst-ridden and emotionally riveting display of enemies to soulmates... or emotionally numb government slave Shadow and his golddigging sugarbaby house arrest pet dog 😎
Infinite is safest with Shadow for EVERYONE: Shadow can kill him if he's out of line, Infinite won't be annoyed by chipper Resistance members or forced into a heroic role, Infinite is safe from GUN, GUN is safe from Infinite, Shadow gets a bit of power/autonomy/genuine responsibility, and also another emotionally distant companion who, even in his most annoying state, isn't going to judge Shadow or try to unpack his morality because Infinite is just as blurry and undefinable. This is the best use for Infinite!
So, Infinite is essentially trapped with Shadow at all times (loosely, depending on their trust level and experience with one another he might be permitted to fuck off and do whatever he wants for a while, that's actually the plot to my fic sequel hehe)
The bitter/grumpy dynamic is maintained because they're stuck around each other forever (Shadow has to be responsible for Infinite because even if he hands him over to GUN, Infinite will escape and they'll send Shadow to go get him, so it's just easier this way. Infinite can't go far without a worse/more annoying fate so his best bet is to stay with Shadow in the first place)
They can also turn out to be good friends considering neither of them arguably want to be alive, and are being controlled by GUN, while everyone wants them to be a hero or redeemed, but they're angsty and feel empty/lack purpose and have bruised egos from failing to save people so now they just fuck around and do whatever
I like to ship them because I think they could learn from one another and heal, but not really in a sappy or cute way which is what I think people get from me when I mention their ship, probably since I write them/draw them rather domestically (it's just easier to do! their dynamic is more fucked up for me i'm not fluffwashing them i swear 😭)
They are comedic GOLD. Infinite, Wave, and Rouge are baddies who shop and go clubbing together. Infinite goes from a worldwide threat to that annoying white twink who peaked in highschool and thinks they're an influencer: you probably know one, but if not, here's a good tiktok to use as an example!
Steven is the best this isn't an attack on him it's this specific type of character, just wanna state that as a disclaimer. ANYWAYS!
Infinite would have a pretty good life if we look at his pre-ruby desires: money, grey morals, violence, and adventure! Shadow is loaded, isn't going to police him, can take him on missions if desired, and Shadow himself is pretty unstable and fluid so Infinite is always going to be roped into adventures and shenanigans (even if he doesn't want to be)
If you like a comedic take, Infinite just sorta lingers around Shadow as arm candy: a bothersome relief character who is obnoxious and clingy so everyone questions why Shadow keeps him around (even though they know he has no choice, but for some reason he gives into the banter and bickering). Him and Rouge just drain Shadow's $$$, cause problems on purpose (the "we irritating" meme but it's him and Wave btw) and he just sorta shows up uninvited whenever anyone does something.
Essentially, funny Infinite (Finn, because witness protection) is a dramatic pest that no one invites but everyone loves SECRETLY (if you praise him publicly it goes to his head because he uses the hyperconfidence to mask his insecurities! aka he's a brat on main because sarcastic or ironic self love to the point of obnoxiousness is better than self deprecation, because it's some sort of appreciation or positivity. IT IS IMPROVEMENT!!! and i recommend the ironic self love for anyone struggling with this stuff themselves, i make sarcastic arrogant comments about myself as a joke and that humour is better than the constant self loathing jokes, mix it up a bit! but anyways...)
If you like a more wholesome take, Shadow and Infinite connect and contrast in complimentary ways, so Shadow finally has a sense of security in a friend who is just as inconsistent and unpredictable as himself, who isn't going to get hurt by his distance or recklessness. Infinite can stand up for himself and understands loss on the same level as Shadow, they resonate so well with one another and this is why i'm such an advocate for them interacting!
TANGENT, FEEL FREE TO MOVE TO THE NEXT POINT: I've been a big Espave/Shadpio shipper my whole life, it's always my go-to trio of "let's torture Espio" especially with my Espighty canon. The reason why Espave endgames Shadpio in almost all my canons is because the overlap of morally grey and emotionally distant combative characters who understand loss is notable in Shadpio, but Espave's shared innovation and desire for knowledge and codependency/communal success outweighs it. BASICALLY, the one solid dent in Shadpio for me is the fact Espio values his family more than his independent success, hence why even though we applaud Espio as the voice of reason and a fantastic core member of the Chaotix, he's not on his own "being more productive" because a) Vector and Charmy actually have merit and b) he loves them. His end goal isn't his personal missions like killing Eggman or doing his own thing, he values group connections, just like how Wave respects Jet as her superior despite age and ability, and why she's still a mechanic for the Rogues when they prove to be incompetent. Shadow is not like this, he never has been like this. Why? He can't relate to others, lol. Shadow somewhat connects with robots (Omega, Metal Sonic) because they lack autonomy and were created, but the stint in this is his organic form and slightly increased free will. The reason why Infinite's character potential spoke to me is because he is organic life who was an ultimate that failed his purpose, and, contrary to Shadow's lack of consent, Infinite gave up his autonomy to become a more powerful being, and lost himself in his emptiness. THIS IS SHADOW'S GAME FOR LIKE, 60% OF THE TIME. THEY'D BE SUCH GOOD FRIENDS HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR SHADOW'S CONTRIBUTION TO INFINITE'S ORIGIN AND I AM SO AGGRESSIVE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE HARDLY ANYONE ELSE SEES IT. TLDR; THE CLOSEST CHARACTER WE HAVE TO SHADOW IS INFINITE. IT USED TO BE MEPHILES. MORE ON THAT LATER BUT I DIGRESS. BACK TO THE ACTUAL CONTENTS OF THIS POST I JUST HAD NO OTHER TIME TO MENTION THIS AGAIN SINCE THE LAST TIME I SCREAMED ABOUT THEIR BASE RATE COMPATABILTY IN CAPS I HAD LIKE 3 FOLLOWERS LOL
Moving on... Infinite can do quite a few things to keep busy with Shadow! He can run off and be shady but come back and live in the same apartment or on the ARK, be a part of/extension of Team Dark, work at Club Rouge (ehem, @authorleaandres Casino AU vibes), be a public figure fr, or a pta parent for any next gen kids, the weird uncle, Shadow's roommate who everyone is sus about, or just his roommate/friend that everyone secretly admires because they're happy Shadow isn't alone anymore and has someone, even if they don't understand their relationship (seeming rivals, qpr, maybe dating? it's always ambiguous because they're secretive fellas)
In my main canon, aka my Follow You canon, he becomes a member of the Sonic Friend Cast™️ because his identity is protected with the ruby extracted from his chest: he's now just a jackal who was a merc with Infinite that Shadow met when trying to track the war criminal down, they bonded over the task, and he now works for GUN!
In a lot of my doodles and shitposts, he's Shadow's gnc af malewife sugarbaby who causes problems and is goofy stupid for the notes and laughs (and an excuse to draw pretty boys with long hair)
In my epilogue... it's kinda fucked up nvm
And in my sequel? He's a Huge contributor to a love triangle with Sonic, the return of a discarded timeline, a ticking timebomb, and a threat to continuity as we know it 😎
okay, that was a lot. if u made it this far ily ❤️

Nie Mingjue/Jiang Yanli/Qin Su - either woman/woman's family approaching him about a possible match
ao3
“I’m sorry,” Nie Mingjue said blankly. “What?”
“Marriage,” Jiang Yanli said, as if the only reason for his reaction was because he hadn’t heard them.
“With us,” Qin Su said, nodding, as if she agreed.
Nie Mingjue had actually heard them just fine the first time, actually.
“You’re already married,” he said.
“My husband is dead,” Jiang Yanli said.
This was true.
“My husband is my brother,” Qin Su said.
“You mean he’s my brother,” Nie Mingjue corrected her. “Sworn brother, that is.”
“No,” she said. “That’s not what I mean.”
Nie Mingjue opened his mouth to ask her what she did mean, then abruptly thought Jin bastards and blanched. “Does he – know?”
“Yes.”
Awkward, Nie Mingjue thought, especially with her belly heavy with what must be their child. Still, she wasn’t wrong that a revelation of incest would automatically nullify her marriage.
Wait, no. He was not considering this.
“Why me?” he asked instead of refusing outright, and cursed himself in his thoughts.
“Our children are Sect Leader Jin’s grandchildren,” Jiang Yanli said, and Nie Mingjue thought of Jin Ling as he’d last seen him, small and red-faced like all babies. “He won’t let me return to my brother’s home – he’s told me that much already – and Qin Su…he wouldn’t react well if he knew.”
No. No, he wouldn’t.
He’d probably just have both her and the child killed.
“You’re the only sect leader who can stand up to him,” Qin Su said.
“I can’t just steal you away,” Nie Mingjue protested, even though, well, he could.
The Jin sect had the money and they wanted power, but they didn’t have it, not yet. Nie Mingjue, though…everyone knew who’d won the Sunshot Campaign, and it wasn’t Wei Wuxian with his demonic cultivation or Lan Xichen descending from unexpected corners wielding his flute and sword, and it wasn’t even the now-dubbed Jin Guangyao who had given Wen Ruohan the final blow.
(There were rumors going around that that was a lie that Nie Mingjue had concocted for Meng Yao’s benefit, giving him the credit of the final kill so that his former deputy could win a place in Lanling Jin, since after all there was no one to say otherwise. He’d rebutted those rumors as harshly as he could, because they weren’t true, and had even tried to be as harsh to him in public as possible - not hard, given his mixed feelings about him - to suggest a lack of collusion, but he wasn’t good at that sort of thing, and the whispers persisted despite everything.)
No, Nie Mingjue was the one everyone respected. His was a reputation as bright and clear and unbreakable as diamond – he could probably murder a man in broad daylight and everyone would automatically assume the man had deserved it.
There was a reason he mostly tried to stay home these days.
“There’s a tradition in the Jiang sect of bride stealing,” Jiang Yanli murmured. “Especially when a debt is owed.”
It was a Jin sect tradition, too – they’d always been close, the Jin and Jiang, similar to the way that the Nie and Lan automatically cleaved together. Their ties together dated back to the days of their ancestors, before they were gentry, the days they both liked to forget when the Jiang were water pirates and the Jin the merchants that sold their stolen goods; they’d developed all sorts of traditions together, and just like the Lan and their unchanging rules, carved into stone, those traditions, while out of favor, had never been officially revoked.
There wouldn’t be much of a life in Lanling for Jiang Yanli, the widow of the heir that was no longer present – little more than a living memory of the son Jin Guangshan had treasured in the palm of his hand, and worse, the woman who had defended as her brother the man that killed him. And for Qin Sun, it was, if anything, even worse; she had willingly married the son Jin Guangshan despised, and there wouldn’t be much life for her once she was known to have committed incest, even inadvertent.
If she was known.
Nie Mingjue didn’t like lying, but surely Jin Guangyao, now that he knew about the relationship, would be desperate to find a way out of his predicament in a way that did not hurt the woman Nie Mingjue was sure that he loved – after all, he couldn’t stay married to her, not knowing what he knew, but divorcing her and sending her back to her father’s home with his son in her belly would be cruel; she would never be able to marry again, and the child would be reviled as a bastard.
(Jin Guangyao knew, and he was ruthless like his father, but he hadn’t killed Qin Su in favor of another, better, cleaner bride, not even upon discovering the truth. Surely that meant he wasn’t as bad as Nie Mingjue sometimes feared he was..?)
They were right. There was no life for them in Lanling, but they had Jin Guangshan’s grandsons, and so he would never willingly let them go even as they suffered.
Nie Mingjue – did not like to see people suffer.
Fuck.
“Qinghe doesn’t have that tradition,” he said, because he was too stubborn to just give in.
“We will make it clear that we encouraged it,” Qin Su said. “That we came to you for shelter.”
That would help, he supposed – he didn’t especially want to get known for stealing his sworn brother’s bride, although he suspected, helplessly, that most people wouldn’t blame him or her and would in fact praise Qin Su for trading upwards. But they could concoct some sort of story: some private tragedy that meant that she could no longer live with Jin Guangyao, that he in his desperation had asked his sworn brother to take her in rather than send her to her father’s house…most ‘bride stealing’ was really that sort of rough trade, women being shuttled around as appropriate to avoid trouble or increase gain.
“I could give you shelter without marrying you.”
“Us, but not our children,” Jiang Yanli said simply, and fuck everything, she was right. “Without you as their adopted father, they would fall back to Sect Leader Jin. We know what we’re asking of you, Sect Leader Nie. If you had someone else in mind, we would be fine marrying in as secondary wives –”
“I don’t,” he said, cutting her off. “I don’t have anyone in mind. My sect will go to my brother after me.”
They both seemed surprised by that, which was fairly normal. Most people were.
“Even if I have children,” he clarified, because that was always the next question people asked: whether he’d suffered some sort of embarrassing accident that made children impossible, which of course he hadn’t. He wanted his brother to inherit. “I would be happy to take your sons as my own and – give you more, if you wished. But they would be a branch family at most, not the direct heirs of Qinghe Nie.”
“That’s fine,” Qin Su said, and Jiang Yanli nodded.
“I know that marrying you might cause Sect Leader Jin to disinherit my son from Lanling Jin,” she said. “I do not mind it. Jin Ling...my son deserves to grow up happy and loved, and that is more important to me than all the gold in the world.”
Nie Mingjue couldn’t disagree with that.
“Very well,” he said, then frowned. “What about Wei Wuxian? After your husband’s death, Sect Leader Jin has been calling for his head, though I understand he agreed to compromise by only giving up the Ghost General and his sister…”
The two women exchanged looks, as if there was something they were holding back, unwilling to say.
Nie Mingjue felt the start of a headache. “None of that,” he said firmly. “Do you want to marry me or do you want to use me? Give me at least enough respect not to keep secrets right before my face.”
Another exchange of looks, but more surprised and even, he thought, pleased.
“Very well,” Qin Su said, and smiled at him – they both smiled at him. “About that – we have some concerns…”

Loreposting about Abaddon
Abaddon doesn’t get a lot of attention. As a deposed god he doesn’t seem relevant to the Guild Wars timeline after Nightfall. But I keep thinking about him because Abaddon is probably the most influential character Tyria ever had.
Tumblr media
Let’s just go over where he appears in-game if you start off in GW2. Everyone knows the six human gods. They’re in statues, temples, personal shrines everywhere. The base game story makes you detour through a sunken temple dedicated to Abaddon, while the Orrian temples to the other five gods are still intact on the surface. This is not by chance. It’s also nudging you to notice that there are no Orrian temples to Kormir, because she replaced Abaddon only two centuries ago. This is reflected again later on in Siren’s Landing on the other side of Orr, where the Five, and Abaddon, each have a personal reliquary, and Abaddon’s is central, connected to all the others, and still intact.
Building on that refresher on human divinity, in Path of Fire you visit the actual place Abaddon was defeated by the other Five gods and pushed into a side dimension to keep him out of the world.
Tumblr media
And when you visit the archives of the Durmand Priory, they have an imposing Abaddon statue towering over the stairs. Other than being reflected in three major environments, he doesn’t have a role in the plot. BUT.
As Kormir explains to you, the weakness of the human gods is that their excess of power keeps fucking up the world. The Desolation, a map that covers only a part of the sulfur desert, is completely uninhabitable because Abaddon was destroyed there. This happened because Abaddon, who was actually the most powerful of the Six and the leader of the group, wanted humans to share in the gift of magic. He was the god of knowledge, after all. This proved disastrous and the other gods reduced and compartmentalised the magic, and Abaddon went on a whole attempt to overthrow them and become one, single god of all.
The destruction of Abaddon’s temples and relics was intentional. He was wiped from memory. The pantheon was called The Five until Nightfall, wherein the existence of Abaddon was revealed as he tried to drag himself back into the mortal plane. As a god his spheres of power were water and knowledge. Erasing knowledge of him was what made him powerless. (Interestingly, the Priory’s special collections contains the Scroll of the Five True Gods, an ancient record of what the human gods knew about the Elder Dragons, but one dragon is missing - the water dragon, who like Abaddon, has a damaged and erased history. The six Elder Dragons and six human gods have many respective connections.)
Tumblr media
When he lived, Abaddon’s followers were the Margonites, who believed him the only real god and worshipped him exclusively, unlike other humans who revere all the Six together. They were rewarded with transformation into etheral beings with an extremely long lifespan, and were imprisoned in Abaddon’s Realm, the Realm of Torment, when he was forced out of Tyria. As the god of knowledge he had a realm to himself, and when fallen, his sphere inversed. Knowledge became madness, the theme his realm embodies. Temples were sunk, records destroyed, because to remove all knowledge of the god of knowledge made him powerless.
Tumblr media
I can’t remember where, but it’s implied that by Nightfall comes around a thousand years after his banishment, Abaddon is finally able to claw his way back into Tyria because people are starting to remember him. There’s one side quest that sticks out in my memory called The Search for Enlightenment about a scholar stealing scriptures from an Elonian library which leads to a massive raid by Margonites. The scholar was ‘babbling’ about a forgotten god. Proximity to knowledge about Abaddon seems to bestow insanity, the connection between Abaddon in his inverted realm and his hold over anyone who knows he exists. Though the Five Gods tried, they didn’t erase everything (hell, Trahearne and Sayeh al' Rajihd give you a guided tour of an Abaddon temple). Over a thousand years, relics popped up and people began to remember The Five was once The Six. As they did his influence returned until he was able to attempt to merge the Realm of Torment with Tyria and become a single, all powerful god in the absence of the others.
But wait how does that make a forgotten god the most influential character in both games?
Well.
Guild Wars lore is nothing if not completely linked together. Every single thing has cause and effect, every event is a domino. The story is consistent from Prophecies to this day. So let’s start with the first GW1 chapter, Prophecies.
Tumblr media
It all starts at the Citadel of Flame.
It was built into the volcano Hrangmer. The charr had been displaced, pushed out of Ascalon by the successful expansion of humankind. 450 years before GW2 the Flame Legion found this volcano and, inside, Titans. You know how Mordremoth’s minions are Mordrem, Zhaitan’s minions are Risen, etc? Titans are Abaddon minions, left behind and hidden after his defeat. They change their appearance to suit their environment. In a jungle they’re vegetative, in mountains they’re made of ice, in the Realm of Torment they’re twisted constructs of flesh, in a volcano, they’re fire. The Flame Legion brings the Titans back to the charr, charr worship them, and in exchange, get immense fire powers. Flame Legion completely takes over charr society and makes it a theistic, misogynist nightmare with the Shamans at the top.
Abaddon has just restructured charr society.
Using their overpowered fire magic indirectly from a human god, charr, ironically, rally against the humans and nuke Ascalon to pieces. The few survivors escape to Kryta. Charr are now pretty much unstoppable and invade all the way to Orr. Vizier Khilbron used a powerful stolen scroll to repel the charr with magic, and it completely destroys Orr, collapsing the island into the ocean.
Abaddon has just wiped out two nations of the humans who used to worship him, with Orr as the final goal - to tear down the resplendent city of the Gods who betrayed him. This is referenced, if you know what you’re looking for, in GW2. You can scale the Vizier’s Tower, where he read the scroll that sank all of Orr, and on the wall...
Tumblr media
A mural to the lost god, a testament to power that, a thousand years later, one who was expunged from history had a faithful likeness depicted.
Ascalon’s a burning hole and Orr is underwater. Now what? Those Ascalonian survivors in Kryta find the place is controlled by White Mantle. The White Mantle are committing mass murder via bloodstone sacrifice (bloodstones being the power curb the gods introduced after imbuing humans with magic) in order to halt the prophecy of a Chosen One opening the Door of Komalie. Vizier Khilbron turns up, shaking out some mysteriously wet boots don’t worry about that, and leads you against these genocidal cultists. Which, whoops, does lead to the Door of Komalie being opened - and it’s a doorway into Abbadon’s Realm of Torment, out of which Titans power through. This was the apocalypse planned for Kryta. Unlike the first two, this one is thwarted by the player. Kryta lives on. Vizier Khilbron is the final boss and turns out to have been a lich.
That’s 3 of the 5 human nations. What about Cantha and Elona?
Tumblr media
GW: Factions is the Canthan chapter in which Shiro Tagachi, the emperor’s bodyguard, continually visits a fortune teller until she inflicts such paranoia on his mindset that he believes he needs to kill the emperor in self-defense. His defeat causes the Jade Wind that creates the Jade Sea. As a spirit, Shiro then engulfs Cantha in a plague that warps people into tumorous mutants. The fortune teller turns out to be an Abaddon minion whose task was the eventual destruction of Cantha. This one also is foiled by the player.
GW: Nightfall is the culmination chapter. Abaddon is now powerful enough, well known enough, to breach Tyria and try to come back. His agent is Varesh Ossa, who slowly transforms into a Margonite over the course of the game. The player confronts the breach between planes and finally enters the Realm of Torment, meeting the shades of Abaddon’s servants that came before, the lich form of Vizier Khilbron, and the spirit of Shiro Tagachi, before facing Abaddon himself.
Tumblr media
And that’s the end of it. In Guild Wars magic cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred, so another god ascends in Abaddon’s place. They are once again The Six.
It’s Abaddon that ruined half the Elonian desert, Abaddon whose sinking of Orr gave Zhaitan the perfect mass grave to necromance, Abaddon who froze the Cantha sea into solid jade, and Abaddon whose final death and eruption of magic started waking Primordus, leading to the norn, dwarf and asuran alliance to stop it in 1078 AE-- introducing the norn and asura to the rest of Tyria, and making the dwarves extinct, cutting their entire race’s existence short. If it wasn’t for Abaddon, the charr wouldn’t have been taken over by their magic-toting shaman caste, only to come to their senses and rebel and ostracize the Flame Legion afterward. Hell, the current Flame Legion Imperators STILL style their horns in an homage to Abaddon, and probably don’t even remember why! To a human god, gone for over a thousand years, who used their race as pawns in a revenge attempt at wiping out every nation the humans had built!
Tumblr media
And even after being thoroughly and completely destroyed, his magic STILL haunts Tyria enough for his statues to punish you for not showing the proper respect.

Been thinking about Dark!D*ny and
I think for me, it comes down to two things:
The utter hypocrisy re: her supposed abolitionist ways
The escalation of her power and the destruction she wreaks
Because I can't really fault her for smothering Drogo. I can't really fault her for letting Viserys die. I can't really fault her for murdering the shit out of Kraznys. I can't fault her for freeing slaves (as if). I can't even fault her for wanting revenge.
Let me explain-
I think if we compare the capture of the Lhazareen and the capture of Meereen, it paints a very clear picture of where D*ny is headed.
The Lhazareen
Ok. First, the whole 'D*ny has no power' argument has to stop. She's the khaleesi. Her husband is the khal. Of course she has power.
I'm NOT saying Drogo isn't absolutely monstrous to her. I'm not saying she chose to marry him. I'm not commenting on their relationship at all.
In a patriarchy, (upper class) women gain property/power/control over others in exchange for sexual/reproductive service. So D*ny, simply by virtue of being the khal's wife, or simply because she's pregnant with his kid (neither of which were her choice) has power.
For comparison, Cersei, who is abused by her husband, the king, still derives power from her position as Queen and mother of the princes/princess. See what I mean?
?? Drogo decides they're gonna sail to Westeros and gives his rousing speech because D*ny was almost assassinated. The attack on the Lhazareen was done in service of D*ny's conquest of Westeros. Let's repeat.
The Lhazareen were attacked to further D*ny's interests.
The Lhazareen were attacked to further D*ny's interests.
No, it wasn't for Rhaego, he's a fucking foetus he doesn't HAVE interests. It's not for Drogo, he doesn't give two shits about Westeros. IT"S FOR D*NY. And that is her 'power' in action. Her power, that she derives through her husband, because PatRiarChy. But power.
And you know what? Sure. It's fine. She didn't know what a bloodbath it was going to be. That's not her fault. And yeah, she IS ready to accept the bloodshed as necessary collateral. That is...a bit more questionable. But she does try to help some women.
Does she only help them because she can see their suffering? Probably. There's plenty of suffering not in her direct line of sight that she allows. But ok. Sure. It's not her job to save everyone (nevermind that they're suffering to further her interests).
The whole 'save them by marrying them to their rapists' thing makes me more sad than enraged. It's tragic. It's D*ny, making women marry their rapists in the same book where she married her rapist...thinking she's ok, thinking they would be ok too. It's the cycle of abuse in motion, right before our eyes.
This is an explanation I accept. All that bullshit about how powerless D*ny is? Pls. Women and children are being enslaved right there on the same page, so D*ny can win the IT, and she's powerless ?? stfu
Ok. I get it. She's not powerless, but how far does her power extend? COULD she have gotten away with getting all the newly enslaved Lhazareen freed? We'll never know. Does that absolve her?
Slaves, Dany thought. Khal Drogo would drive them downriver to one of the towns on Slaver's Bay. She wanted to cry, but she told herself that she must be strong. This is war, this is what it looks like, this is the price of the Iron Throne.
NO.
This- the capture and enslavement of the Lhazareen people- is a direct consequence of Viserys' ambitions, which is a torch that D*ny has now willingly taken up. THAT ^^^ is a price she's willing to pay, or rather- make others pay.
Buuuut it's fine. She's inexperienced, and her power is certainly limited, and hey she tried. Sure. Moving on.
Meereen
(TW: mentions of rape)
Fast forward four books and D*ny is approximately 100x times more powerful than she was in the Lhazareen scene. Let's see how she does now-
A boy came, younger than Dany, slight and scarred, dressed up in a frayed grey tokar trailing silver fringe. His voice broke when he told of how two of his father's household slaves had risen up the night the gate broke. One had slain his father, the other his elder brother. Both had raped his mother before killing her as well. The boy had escaped with no more than the scar upon his face, but one of the murderers was still living in his father's house, and the other had joined the queen's soldiers as one of the Mother's Men. He wanted them both hanged.
I am queen over a city built on dust and death. Dany had no choice but to deny him. She had declared a blanket pardon for all crimes committed during the sack. Nor would she punish slaves for rising up against their masters.
xxx
A former slave came, to accuse a certain noble of the Zhak. The man had recently taken to wife a freedwoman who had been the noble's bedwarmer before the city fell. The noble had taken her maidenhood, used her for his pleasure, and gotten her with child. Her new husband wanted the noble gelded for the crime of rape, and he wanted a purse of gold as well, to pay him for raising the noble's bastard as his own. Dany granted him the gold, but not the gelding. "When he lay with her, your wife was his property, to do with as he would. By law, there was no rape." Her decision did not please him, she could see, but if she gelded every man who ever forced a bedslave, she would soon rule a city of eunuchs.
SO anyway how is D*ny rating on the 'tried to prevent rape' scale?
She even went so far as to summon Irri, hoping her caresses might help ease her way to rest, but after a short while she pushed the Dothraki girl away. Irri was sweet and soft and willing, but she was not Daario.
Oh look she's in the negative :/
How's she doing on the slavery front? She's got all the power now...
"Your slave Missandei." Jhiqui had a taper in her hand.
"My servant. I have no slaves." Dany did not understand. "Why does she weep?"
xxx
There was no slavery in the free city of Pentos. Nonetheless, they were slaves.
...
D*enerys spends five books gaining power. How does this affect the condition of her people? Is the condition of the Meereenese better than the condition of the Lhazareen had been, all the way back in the first book? No. It's worse.
People have still been raped. People have still been enslaved/remained enslaved. People have starved. People have been brutally murdered. And at a much larger scale than book 1.
This is what it comes down to. D*ny is a villain because her climb to power is characterized by death and destruction, always. Isn't that the trademark of a villain?
D*ny is a girl who truly believes in her own PR, but when you look at her words and actions-
"The Good Master has said that these eunuchs cannot be tempted with coin or flesh," Dany told the girl, "but if some enemy of mine should offer them freedom for betraying me . . ."
"They would kill him out of hand and bring her his head, tell her that," the slaver answered. "Other slaves may steal and hoard up silver in hopes of buying freedom, but an Unsullied would not take it if the little mare offered it as a gift. They have no life outside their duty. They are soldiers, and that is all."
xxx
"No," she pleaded. "Save him, and I will free you, I swear it. You must know a way … some magic, some …"
...how much of her actions are truly altruistic? How much is performative?
Despite her anti-slavery rhetoric, D*ny consistently benefits from slavery- and slavery flourishes.
Despite her 'oh no I don't wanna bring death and destruction anywhere', her actions continue to bring exactly that- and it never stops her from doing it all over again the next time.
Not to dismiss her internal struggle. But really. Being upset at the thought that you might be a bad person doesn't make you a good person. For that matter, being worried if you're going mad or not...doesn't mean you're not (not that I'm saying she is). Seriously, where did that logic even come from? Ultimately, her internal struggle makes her a more compelling character, sure, but it doesn't actually make her a better person.
The point is, her story is absolutely rooted in hypocrisy. Her destructiveness only escalates with her power. Her so-called good intentions never pan out- because her own actions undermine them. And because she has the self-awareness of a pigeon, she never gets better.
She IS the villain who thinks she's a hero. She isn't just a villain because she's done bad things, but because she's utterly unaware (or deliberately obtuse) of the bad things she's done, and so she's incapable of learning, and so she's only getting worse.
Take a step outside her POV and it suddenly becomes clear.
Let's recap.
D*ny has-
Wayy more power in Meereen. Less in Lhazareen
D*ny did-
Less to prevent rape in Meereen. More in Lhazareen
D*ny benefitted from-
Slavery in Meereen. Slavery in Lhazareen
D*ny was-
A slaver in Meereen. A slaver in Lhazareen
D*ny wreaked-
Death and destruction in Meereen. Death and destruction in Lhazareen.
D*ny, riding high on her power-
Ordered the murder of children. And much more.
Power is NOT good for D*ny.
