Gowillaz monstew AU, just for you 🤲

Murdoc: Vampire

2D: Zombie

Noodle: demon/demon slayer

Russel: human (possessed)

* Russel’s backstory is pretty much exactly the same— he witnesses his friends’ deaths and becomes possessed by their spirits and now he has the ability to summon and absorb spirits. He can also sense whether an entity has malicious energy or not. After his friends’ deaths, his parents send him to his uncle’s in England, where he starts taking on jobs to “exorcise” peoples houses (he’s not expelling the ghosts, but letting them reside inside his body)

* Noodle uses her demonic abilities (ala Devilman Crybaby) to fight other demons. She and Russel meet when they both show up to the same building to deal with the very powerful spirit that’s haunting it. They team up, since demons are too powerful for him and Noodle can’t slash ghosts with her sword.

* In their travels, they accidentally hit a shambling zombie, our good friend 2D, with their car. While Noodle is ready to take his head off, Russel senses that he’s harmless, and so they let him join them. Since Russel also does taxidermy, he helps repair 2D’s body as he tends to fall apart

* 2D doesn’t have any sort of bloodthirst, but he can regenerate if he’s buried and left to rest for a day or so, and then he digs his way out again

* Murdoc is a vampire who desperately wants to be the next Dracula. He resides alone in the abandoned and thoroughly haunted Kong Studios. Though this takes place in the equivalent time period to phase 1, he basically larps as a 17th century vampire with a laptop. He still sleeps in a Winnebago in the garage, only he’s spray painted it black and has a coffin inside.

* Noodle hunts down Murdoc to kill him, but he goes down so easily she decides he’s barely a threat. The three of them start freeloading in Kong to keep an eye on Murdoc and also because they need a place to stay. He allows it in exchange for them providing blood for him, getting rid of the spirits that plague his house, and also because he’s secretly been very lonely

* Since Murdoc isn’t opposed to taking blood from defenseless humans, Noodle brings him blood from her demon hunting trips. While he gets along fine with them, they don’t fully trust him to get blood on his own

* Since 2D regenerates, he also lets Murdoc drink his blood. They bury him in the graveyard behind Kong to recover so he can do it again and again. However, it’s tiring for him and the more damage he takes/after having a strenuous few days in a row, the longer it takes for him to come back. So while Murdoc can get away with knocking 2D’s head off when he’s annoyed with him, and 2D might play Jackass for fun once in a while, it’s in their best interests not to overdo it, which they often do.

* While Noodle insists on using her powers to fight other demons, Russel worries for her since she’s still a little girl, and sticks around to look out for her as well as 2D. She insists on being independent and often disappears for days at a time, but begins to grow attached to them (including Murdoc, after a while) and as she does, she begins to regain her memories of her life before she acquired her demonic powers

Misc tidbits:

* 2D became a zombie after being hit by a car and doesn’t remember his life before that. When he was hit by Russel and Noodle, he acquired his second eight ball fracture

* Murdoc was turned into a vampire in 1966 when working as a gravedigger

* Murdoc can turn into a bat

* They all meet around the time of early phase 1 (1998ish) and while they don’t form a band, they do stick together over the course of time (and Noodle does age since she’s not fully a demon).

* Vampires also age but very slowly— drinking monster blood keeps them going but human blood makes them immortal at the cost of becoming completely monsterous. Murdoc has not done so yet but keeps saying he’s going to be immortal some day but for one reason or another has been putting it off

* Russel letting so many spirits reside in his body takes a major toll on him and he eventually is given an exorcism to function again, but in the process loses Del and the rest of his friends

let’s get it out of the way: ruze isn’t just a viciously violent mercenary menace, he’s also a viciously violent mercenary menace that ✨ loves creativity ✨

he respects people that can use their imagination, like inventing new horrific ways to kill a corruption beast, or making someone’s day worse in a way that can’t be replicated

so naturally he gravitates to people who put their imagination to use through their own art medium. he has a type for creators

one of the best feelings ever is being able to watch an artist in their element, focused on their vision

there’s always so much to admire. their hands wrapped around the pencil, the way they squint and stare at the lines… he could go on

if he’s really lucky maybe the artist will move around while drawing a character, just so they can use their own body as reference. it’s so cute seeing them lift a hand and compare it to the one they were drawing, even the pout they do when they erase the last few strokes, all frustrated but ready to try again. especially the pout

he doesn’t do the whole “talking about your feelings” thing so when he sees a well-done drawing, well, that just makes admitting it all the more redundant. who needs words when a picture is worth a thousand of them?

ruze himself isn’t exactly an artist, but he’s tried before. it’s tough work. anyone that can control their pen that well deserves respect

if you’re an artist and your love language is quality time then dating ruze is a dream. he’ll do work in the same room as you while you’re preoccupied with your latest piece

it’s just the right amount of togetherness, but you’re able to do your own thing, and so is he. this feeling gets even better with banter, music, anything

he doesn’t mention it often but ruze also likes to work with his hands too. his favorite is papercrafting

you’re the only one in the world that knows he has a diy scrapbook full of photos and embellishments and, yes, some of your doodles and scrapped art you let him keep

always wants to display your art in some way. it’s personal and makes him feel like his house is a little livelier

if you need more space or expensive supplies for your art like a firing kiln, large canvases, pressure pots, or other equipment, then he’ll drop off the face of the earth for, like, a week, then come back with a bounty collected and a cut of it for your art fund

ruze likes the challenge of hunting down and fighting a fearsome monster, and how you brighten up as you plan a visit to a local craft store

he likes to ask questions about what you’re working on. this can be anything from art history to oc lore to symbolism to techniques

it makes especially good conversation at night when he’s about to go to bed with you

…there have definitely been times ruze was the first to sleep because you got hit with inspiration at 1 am though

it would be hypocritical if he were to make you rest, but just don’t overdo it and wake up cranky past your alarm, alright?

and do some stretches, including your hands, and your back. you’re literally dating someone who uses his muscle to make money. you better be treating your body nicely while you’re making art

you should be getting accidental paper cuts, not carpal tunnel because SOMEONE didn’t stick their arms straight out and bend their wrists back while keeping their fingers straight for 10 seconds, then bend their wrists down to the floor for another 10 seconds. not naming names

the type of mf that will sneak up and make some form of sudden physical contact (a kiss? bite? lick? annoying poke to your side?) so your back straightens and then tells you to keep it straight instead of giving you more affection

would NEVER respond to someone talking about their art with “can you draw me?”

that’s probably his greenest flag actually

I spent a crazy evening thinking about Raphael and brought one small and one bigger idea to you

Raphael who loves, so I guess it's a fluff

I want Raphael to cry into his pillow because he has fallen in love with Tav, who is already serving one of the archdevils. So that he would scurry through the forests and halls watching him from afar, accidentally found himself at every event where they would be.

and so that in a few more thousand years, when he has the crown and he marches through hell victoriously, Raphael will take his soul out of the deepest pit and appoint a perplexed poor man to delight his gaze

Or ooh

Raphael, who conquers avernus and can already butt heads with other archdukes, orders some Tav and his contract to be stolen from another hell..... (I want him to grow up in hell, at the court of Mammon, because he was taken away as the most valuable fruit, and later he became a warlock)(well, because stealing a sorcerer from the personification of greed is FUN)

so that this surprisingly calm creature is thrown in front of his throne.

Tav looks around, everything in the throne room is too big for her, but it's familiar feeling

"Khem, it is an honor for me to appear before the new Archduke Averno, but.... What can I do for you?"

Raphael does not deign to pay attention to her, as well as a dozen guards stationed in the hall. He reads her contract carefully, the girl understands this and confusion is visible in her eyes.

"Introduce yourself"

The girl was enlivened by Raphael's words and she straightened up to answer

"My name is Tav, I am the warlock of Mammon"

"What kind of work do you do?" Raphael spoke without emotion, without looking up from the contract in his hands

"I can kill someone, negotiate, be an ambassador, whatever the master wants"

The girl tries to keep up with dignity, but the atmosphere of uncertainty presses on her. She digs her hands harder into the strap of the bag that hangs on it.

"What's in your bag?"

seemed like exactly the wrong question to ask her. The girl was lost, but between mortals it would have been a common question.

"Um, potions scrolls and documentation"

"What kind of documentation?"

"As a punishment, I am engaged in economic documentation of the yard"

"And do you consider this a punishment?"

Raphael finally squinted his gaze towards the guest

"For small flaws, mostly from the master's bad mood, but no, it was not a burden to me dealing with paperwork"

"How fortunate, and do you know much about the internal affairs of Mammon's court?"

The obvious reason for staying here cautiously reached the girl.

"I know a lot, but the contract forbids me..."

Tav did not have time to finish and the sound of parchment tearing was heard in the hall. Raphael calmly tore the contract into two parts, Tav watched in some fright as the paper sank to the floor and turned into ashes

"Oh, it doesn't forbid it now."

Now the fright was much clearer in her, she hunched over a little and hid her eyes on the floor. the girl swallowed nervously. Is she going to be interrogated and killed now? It's probably like true

"Now we can discuss more"

and ooooh, they really can discuss a lot.

firstly, Raphael can instruct her to deal with the documentation of the yard, change the load, make it bigger and smaller, everything will always be perfect. Tav never complained, and yet when he made the load absurdly heavy, she once fell asleep on him during a planned walk. they didn't talk about this moment and he didn't overdo it anymore.

and secondly.

their conversations, first she will be interrogated, then Raphael will schedule regular meetings with them, allegedly because of the politician. In fact, the bored Archduke will take his nightingale everywhere and lead her to talk about everything: books, magic, food, the history of hell.

Tav really knows everything he expects. And the Archduke likes to listen to her voice. He had been looking at her from afar for too long, and now his nightingale was next to him, belonged to him.

The devil knows that now, no matter what awaits him, even the war with the other eight hells, in his kingdom, in his golden cage, there is a little bird that is always waiting, always looking at him fearfully and ready to discuss the book they talked about last time. No matter how frightening the archdevil was, his crown-like horns, cloak, and shoulder pads made him deceptively large. It doesn't matter, he's too well ingrained in the little thing's trust.

These regular meetings of the archdevil and the little man, in the throne room, on the terrace, in the library, it seems they used all the places available in the flying fortress.

Tav doesn't understand the purpose of these meetings, but is there any reason for discontent?

The Archduke is extremely kind to her. He's even... Is he handsome? It's probably not strange because the girl grew up in hell. His face is so big, cherry-colored, noble cheekbones, signs of advanced age, his hooked nose.

She likes the way his eyes sparkle in the dark corners of the citadel, of which there are plenty, the two brightest eclipses for her. The devil's gaze is harsh for everyone, but looking at her, he softens. His lace collar? Perhaps this is too delicate a detail for the archdevil's clothes.

He usually talks to the servants insinuatingly, often just doesn't listen and tells them to get out with his hand. His hands... In his new rank, Raphael abused jewelry more. For sure, his smallest ring will be dangling on her thumb. The devils' hands are made to tear apart, but these only rest on the armrests, gesticulate moderately into the sunset and even put their arm around her shoulder as they pass through the crowd of fiends. As if they would really dare to hurt her, as if they didn't make way enough when their master appeared.

If the duke is angry, it always spreads quickly around the court. In this case, he comes to meetings and is silent. Tav needs to take the initiative herself, at some stage of her story he will join the conversation as if nothing had happened. The Archduke's great privilege is his voice, as if he is much bigger and speaks directly into the back of your head, the sound embraces your head from all sides.

It's scary when he takes the initiative, and it's like he's digging it up, moving from questions about the book to her personal ones.

"What do you like? And how do you feel? What would you like?" Questions that demolish the load-bearing walls in the protection of the Tav and she has to sort out the rubble and rebuild them. Anything you say will be used against you, she has long understood this rule, but now it has stopped working and it was confusing.

She plays along with him, but the girl herself is tormented by questions, what is this performance for? The devil obviously knows all this better than she does. First, she would try to ask his closest servants such a question, and then he himself.... but what he will answer, think for yourself

(For sure, Raphael has a specially prepared servant for this, who at this moment should call him on urgent business. So that he could tell her

"Think about it at your leisure, little bird", kiss her on the forehead (for the first time!) and leave, leaving the girl blushing and wondering alone. and then also cancel several meetings with her so that she would suffer in thought)

sweeney todd headcanons!! 🔪

no one asked for these but i'm obsessed with this show. headcanons are based on the latest broadway revival!! obviously most of these characters are horrible people and i'm not glorifying murder but they are just silly little fictional guys to me.

sweeney: ok..look. i know he kills people. but hear me out. i just think that before he was sent away, he was a much happier person and i just get a very cute, dorky vibe from pre-prison benjamin barker. lucy def tickled him lots and he had a very soft giggle that made her melt. he obviously hasn't been tickled in 15+ years when he returns to london, the concept has sort of been entirely forgotten. because mrs. lovett is so touchy with him, she has 100% accidentally tickled him and made him flinch. he has no idea what to do when tickled, he just sort of curls up and swears a lot. i can't see him ever tickling her back, he thinks its stupid and would get genuinely irritated when she did it. he didn't mind it when it was lucy, though. his ribs are his worst spot; he's taken to keeping his elbows pressed tightly to his sides whenever mrs. lovett is behind him.

mrs. lovett: when i first watched the movie when i was like 7 (i know thats way too young shush) i was like. oh i'm in love with her and also she is a ler. but this version of mrs. lovett in the revival has more switchy energy. still predominately ler, but her cackling laughter is just rlly endearing ok?? like i said above, i can't imagine sweeney ever purposefully tickling her, but i think if he ever did, she wouldn't mind simply because she's obsessed with him, lol. she tickles him a bit once she figures it out, she can't really take the hint that he isn't a fan. probably also tickled toby a few times, just quick little squeezes to his side along with playfully pinching his cheeks. her thighs are very ticklish, otherwise she's not super sensitive.

johanna: has never really being tickled before, so the first time anthony does it, she accidentally elbows him right in the face. she is so embarrassed and apologetic, and maybe even shyly asks him to try it again, promising to not flail so violently this time. her laugh is super high-pitched and squeaky, and she's very squirmy. her very frantic vibes in the musical are sad in context but also gives her this very sweet quality. she actually thinks tickling is fun, it helps distract her from her nervous thoughts and helps her feel very carefree and loved. her sides and stomach are super bad!! she's very clumsy the first few times she tickles anthony, but she quickly gets the hang of it and absolutely loves watching anthony smile and laugh. she knows he doesn't enjoy it as much as she does, so she's very careful to not overdo it.

anthony: we don't know much about anthony's backstory but i have the feeling he didn't have a very close, affectionate family/upbringing, but in his sailing days he made close friends that were like brothers to him, which lead to drunken, playful antics, meaning he got tickled a bit by them. his laugh is quiet but very melodic, and his neck and knees are his worst spots. he loves to tickle johanna, and lets her turn the tables most of the time. he compliments her laugh and is very gentle with her, pressing tickly kisses to her cheeks and neck, especially when he's got a bit of stubble.

LBSC Lukanette MerMay Prompts

Hello friends! For those of you who like to get a head start, here are our 16 prompts for Lukanette Mermay. Because one of our mottos here is why just do it when you can overdo it we’ve collected some scenarios suggested by our discord friends for some of our prompts, but these are completely optional, and you can take the prompts in whatever direction you’d like.

There’s no word count or time limit for these prompts. You may do as many or as few prompts as you like, in any order. The event will run throughout the month of May. Be sure to tag @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers so we can reblog your work! Rules are at the bottom of this post below the cut. 1. Pirate/Mermaid

The kind mermaid/merman that likes to explore on their own has a deserted island they like to visit. One day, a pirate on the run takes haven there. They don't look as menacing as the rumors say though

Pirate capitan luka having a mermaid wife, she always follow his ship and luka had a tank on his room for when she spend the night, also mermaid marinette is fascinated by clothes, Luka had an storage space for all the clothes she like

2. Accidental/Involuntary Transformation

Luka is turned into a merman to save him from drowning, and the smitten Marinette shows him his new underwater home. (Or vice-versa.)

If you wish upon a shooting star it becomes a mermaid/merman if it lands in the sea....

luka and marinette (two mermaids) accidentally get turned human after messing with some magic. chaos ensues while they attempt to blend in with other human beings.

Luka the "drowned one" plays the guitar underwater (apparently that's a thing you can do) to a group of fascinated deep sea mermaids

"Where on earth did you get to last night?" "I heard the mermaids singing." “That's your excuse every time you disappear.... Oh my god, that really is a mermaid!"

On a deep sea mission to collect whalesong (for an album project?), there's something else down there with them, and it's singing back.

Mermaids had soulmates, everyone knew that. Humans had soulmates, or at least the legends said they did. Nobody had ever heard of a mermaid/merman and a human being soulmates before. But the proof was right there as your (whatever sign of a soulmate you want to use) showed the human was your soulmate.

Geraskier headcanon: witchers are humans too, aka Geralt could survive on nothing but spite and willpower with no sleep and minimal food, but that doesn’t mean he should (and Jaskier makes sure he won’t)

Geralt doesn’t need to follow normal circadian patterns, but it’s better if he does. He can see nearly as well in the dark as during the day, but too much prolonged night vision leaves him with stinging eyes and splitting headaches. Sleep can be an afterthought for days at a time, but after several consecutive hours of rest he’s less likely to be overwhelmed by every little sound or scent. His metabolism can process just about any food he gets his hands on, or shut off entirely if he can’t get his hands on any at all, but his grumpiness is directly related to the quality and quantity of his last three meals

Of course Geralt doesn’t really realize most of this, because he’s never taken enough care of himself to find out. It won’t kill him to travel at night when there are fewer people around to curse and spit at him, so he often does. It won’t kill him to skip a meal or two when a town seems particularly hostile. His stomach growls and his head feels like someone’s using it for target practice and he has to wait several days before heading into the city because every sound grates on his ears, but to Geralt that’s just life on the Path

Along comes Jaskier

Jaskier does not share Geralt’s views about neglecting his self-care, but more importantly, Jaskier is very much not a Witcher and physically can’t function on Geralt’s schedule. At first this is an annoyance, and Geralt overdoes it in an effort to make Jaskier realize that following him around isn’t the life he wants. But Jaskier can outstubborn literally anyone, and just hangs on like a (very lovable) barnacle the more Geralt tries to push him away

Eventually, there comes a breaking point. Jaskier trips over something in the dark and nearly splits his skull open on a rock. Jaskier is so sleep-deprived and drained of energy he very quietly asks if Geralt would be willing to carry his lute for him. Jaskier hasn’t had enough water in days, and loses his voice when he tries to perform at the next inn they stop at. Geralt has two options: 1) use this as a final opportunity to rid himself of Jaskier forever or 2) adapt

To nobody’s surprise (except maybe Geralt’s), he adapts. They start to travel only during the day and rest when it’s dark. If some dire circumstance presents itself (sometimes people take exception to him, or Jaskier is recognized by the wrong husband) and they have to flee in the night, Jaskier gets to ride on Roach. He tries to make sure they stop early enough and leave late enough that Jaskier gets at least six hours of sleep most nights. Geralt starts carrying a second waterskin and takes detours to make sure they pass by a stream whenever it begins to empty

As a result, Geralt accidentally takes better care of himself too. He’s lived so long in a constant state of discomfort that he doesn’t even understand what’s happening the first time he wakes up completely pain-free, no headache, an unfamiliar lightness in his muscles, eyes bright and sharp, ears attuned to every sound but equally able to filter them out, and strangely calm. Geralt didn’t even know it was possible to feel like this, thought his aches and pains and weariness was just the consequence of the Path. Some of it is, but turns out sleeping and eating well and not overtaxing your senses can help your physical and mental wellbeing. Who knew? Not Geralt

Geralt does his best to describe it to Jaskier who has to try very, very hard not to cuddle his witcher into the next dimension in response. After that, it’s Jaskier’s mission to make sure Geralt doesn’t push his limits more than he absolutely has to. “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should, Geralt!” When he sees Geralt tiring (or what counts as tiring for a witcher), Jaskier makes a show of how much he’d like a bed for the night so they camp at an inn and Geralt can rest in an actual bed. He likes to order Geralt’s favorite meats and wines when they go to taverns, even if it means kicking up a fuss (Geralt won’t ask for an extra portion himself, he’s just happy enough to be served at all, but luckily he has no reservations about stealing off Jaskier’s plate)

Jaskier can always tell when Geralt’s taking care of himself, sees the way he moves more freely and smiles more easily and (on the really good days) barks out beautiful, booming laughs at Jaskier’s bawdier jokes

Do you have any tips for peperomia? They're all so beautiful but I have killed every single one I've owned

Oh peperomias are the best! Here's my general tips of what they like;

They actually like a bit of shade, maybe even a lot of shade, it depends on the type of peperomia. Generally the ones with dark (like black) or silvery/glittery leaves dislike direct sun, and the ones with thicker and plain green leaves (like f.ex the peperomia hope) like more sun and can even be kept in windows! Just keep an eye on them in case they dislike their spot. If there's too much sun, the ones with thinner leaves will go a bit crispy and the ones with thicker leaves might get sunburn. Sometimes sunburn is cute and consistent, but sometimes it's a sign that you need to move your plant. But in any case, most if not all peperomias like shade or partial shade so that is your best bet if you're unsure of what signs are which. If there's too little light, your peperomia might start rotting. This is connected to their watering, so let's talk about that.

There is a lot of variation in peperomias, and the general rule with watering would be that the more it looks like a succulent, the more you should treat it like one. Peperomia obtusifolia (my fav) might have moderately thin leaves, but their stems are really really thick, so this one needs to dry out a bit between waterings. Peperomias that have both thin leaves and thin stems will need to be treated a little more like you'd treat a begonia. Don't overwater, but make keep an eye on it so it doesn't go too long without water. But peperomias with thin stems and thick leaves can be tricky, you need to keep an eye on them because once the stem starts rotting or drying up it's basically over for that branch. I use skewers if I need to check the moisture of the soil!

Like the crassula, Peperomias usually have shallow and thin roots. This means that you can accidentally give them too deep pots that they won't fill up simply because they don't want to, and that soil on the bottom won't dry very well and might cause root rot. Since the peperomia has thin roots, the roots can be more sensetive. It's a good idea to place your peperomia pretty deep into the pot and then fill soil on top instead, and to use a shallow pot (which they also look beautiful in when they get longer branches), this just makes it so that your plant won't topple over since the leaves and stems are heavier than the roots. This doesn't count for some peperomias that are more begonia-like though, which I have less experience with.

I think they like humidity, but don't overdo it on the more succulent-like peperomias. I've always seen the peperomia as a perfect starter plant, since it is sturdy and doesn't need a shit ton of sunlight. I would also recommend getting small (young?) plants, because it always seems to me that they are much better at adapting to a new environment and new habits than large plants which might be thrown off by such a sudden change.

I dont know whether to be proud or jelly that you can do that, i would love to be able to create an AI of any of my favorite fellows, but the fact is, i suck at things not involving OOC, which doesnt mean i cant recognise when someone has written someone IC, its just harder for me to do that since i tend to skew it towards stronger traits and forgetting the small details, or overdoing the small details while discarding the stronger traits.

Or, to simplify, making a "looks hot, can kill you, WILL kill you" into a "looks hot, can kill you, WONT kill you".

i’m not that smart, really, it is simple! i encourage everyone to give it a shot just because of how fun it’s been! have… like two solid ais right now—the yan!red and the fabled zhongli—but even the failed venti and xiao were learning experiences! granted, you do need a more solid grasp of characters and their motives, since you’re literally recreating them, but other than that it’s as easy as filling in prompts!

literally any even slightly romantic thought makes him go :bonk emoji: he can't deal with it. he imagines someone holding his hand for .5 seconds and he's on the floor. and then sometimes nothing even remotely romantic or anything happens, jason just smiles at him and then he becomes a puddle of sludge. he loves affection but the poor man cannot handle it at all at the same time. he's trying SO hard to be normal about it but it's not working. you know that one post that was like "i wrote my crush a note that just said 'get out of my school.'" thats him. thats him.

💘 HEART W/ ARROW - what traits do they look for in a relationship? do they believe in love at first sight?

someone who's funny, most importantly. if he can't laugh with them then he is OUT of there. taller than him also preferably bc he is a short little man who wants to be lifted up and held SO bad. also obviously someone who's genuine, which is very funny considering danny cheats on him and also jason has been lying about his name the whole time. one is significantly less terrible than the other but. HEHggh. anyway. all he wants is someone who's kind and will love him for who he is and will not get annoyed when he goes off on his tenth rant of the day about stroads.

OH IT IS VEEEEEEEERY NOTICABLE. HE'S NOT SUBTLE AT ALL. jason is just SO oblivious it's not even funny. he can't make eye contact, he gets easily flustered by any sort of smile, or touch, or Anything. again. he turns into a puddle of sludge. he goes a little bit insane, he daydreams a lot. he wants to talk to them nonstop and spend as much time with them as possible - which is Awfully convenient for him in this situation. in each other's company 24/7 like a dream come true.

but at the same time he's trying so hard to convince himself that it's NOT a crush, and he doesn't deserve a relationship, it's all just circumstance. these feelings mean Nothing. all of it is just a weak defense tactic at stopping himself from getting hurt, but he's SO in love that it kind of. immediately destroys any sort of wall he put up in the first place.

he TRIES to be subtle but because of how easily flustered he is, even after they've been together for a WHILE, he still kind of accidentally 'overdoes it' [in his mind], which jason just finds very cute and endearing. who cares if he's showy. it lets jason know that he's not scared to love him. and that makes my brain EXPLODE. theyre holding hands almost all the time, something which marcus ALWAYS initiates just bc he LOVES holding jason's hand. and they swing their arms a bit while they walk. and kiss each other's hands. and if that isn't showy idk what is.

💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?

jason can't ready very well, so if marcus were to leave a note for him at any point, it would be a very simple i love you <3 written in all caps surrounded by hearts. and a couple of little smileys + a doodle of them holding hands. over time as jason gets better with it, he does start writing a little bit more in them. and then jason would maybe even write some back. aughgfdjh. he is not good at writing either, so his notes would also be a very simple "i love you" in very wobbly handwriting, with a little (: x at the end. he ends EVERY message he ever writes with a smiley face. i know this is about marcus but that's an improtant jason fact.

💔 BROKEN HEART - what could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?

JASON WOULD NEVER DO SUCH A THING BUT. CHEAT. 10000% I KNOW THAT'S LIKE. A GENERIC ANSWER. BUT. YOU KNOW. Tactica Gameplay

So, I'm not sure if there's much point in doing this, but I've been thinking a lot about how Aaron would play if he was in Tactica, because there's a couple interesting wrinkles that he'd have to work with.

For one thing, he doesn't use a gun. Even in Closer-to-Canon, because "heroes don't use guns" and he doesn't want to risk accidentally overdoing it and killing a person's shadow. Not to say he's against his teammates using them, he understands why they're necessary, he'd just rather spend the extra bit of stamina to use his webs instead.

But in Tactica, that creates a bit of a problem since, guns are kinda your default attack. You can use melee, and there's definitely benefits to that, but the range of a gun without needing to use stamina is incredibly useful in a game that limits your movement.

So I think to balance this, Aaron would take a bit of cues from Spidey's play style in Midnight Suns, as well as a specific card from the Hunter in that game. Most of his skills would be unique to him, including his curse spell which is completely different from the curse spells other Persona's have.

First up is his simplest skill, Eiha Karamatta, where instead of inflicting enemies with Despair, it binds them in place for that turn, doing minimal damage in the process. But if another teammate attacks that enemy, that will set the webbing off, dealing a decent amount of curse damage on top of it, as well as downing them and inflicting despair.

And just like he can in universe, Aaron is able to set the webs off himself with a snap of his fingers. But due to how Tactica works, he can only really do so if he has a 1-More (or if his Ultimate is in play which you'll see later), so as powerful as he is, he needs the help of his teammates to take full advantage of it.

His next skill is similar, based on one of my favorite cards from Spidey's deck. Not sure what it'd be called, but basically it's a skill that allows Aaron to leap into the air, and slam down on his target. But if that hit will down the enemy, he can then immediately follow up and continue the chain onto another nearby enemy. Meaning if you play your cards right, he could knock down a whole bunch of enemies, and travel the map while he does it. I think it'd probably have like a maximum number of enemies he could chain to, to not make him too OP, but it'd certainly be useful.

For his final ability, he'd have a very situational skill that allows him to set off environmental traps with a little bit of his webbing, which might make them also do more damage? Idk, Spidey in Midnight Suns is all about moving around the map and using environmental traps to his advantage, so I wanted to have something similar for Aaron, but it's a bit difficult since, so far, there's only really the one environmental hazard.

Lastly, we have his Ultimate move, called Perfect Synergy. This would either be the same move that Joker already has, a move that knocks down enemies even behind cover, though he fuses with Arsène to do it, or if the mechanics would allow for this, he would summon Arsène as a sort of temporary fourth party member.

Now, the game already kinda has these, but what would make Arsène special is that you'd actually be able to control him. His SP would be shared with Aaron, since that's how he works, and his movement would be limited to a large radius around Aaron, but aside from that, he can do everything the others can, hits like a tank, can set up web traps which Aaron can set off on his turn. The catch is that after three turns, or if he takes too much damage, Arsène disappears. And because of just how strong he is, he doesn't have a lot of health to work with, even when fully upgraded.

Also, as a way to keep him in line with his usual strength, Aaron's melee attack would be the strongest in the game. Exactly how strong, I dunno, but he'd definitely be a powerhouse. Though maybe to balance it out a bit, his attack can't be upgraded because you can only really buy guns in Tactica, which as I said before, he doesn't use.

I do kinda want to find a way to work in his Wild Cards, the portable, remote activated, and card-shaped explosives that do elemental damage, but considering elemental weaknesses don't seem to be a thing, and that he'd probably have access to a Sub Persona same as everyone else, this is probably good enough for a moveset for a character that will never be playable

Oh well, this was still fun to think about

BNHA Team Up Mission Spin-Off Manga Chapter 9 Summary Translation

The Boku No Hero Academia TEAM UP MISSION manga Chapter 9 follows Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima as they team up with Shiketsu's Camie to act in a stage play at a theme park. The chapter is really hilarious and lighthearted.

The title of the chapter is “That’s Totally Overdoing the Illusion!”

Here's the entire chapter summary! Enjoy~

Chapter 9 That’s Totally Overdoing the Illusion!

The chapter starts off with Bakugou, Kirishima, and Todoroki on a Team Up Mission at a theme park called “Future World.” They arrive at the theme park and Kirishima says the theme park is amazing. Todoroki notes that it’s really big, and Bakugou says, “Whatever, it’s just for kids.” They then are approached by Camie, who says, “Omg no way! U.A. is like, here too??”

Camie says “I’m like so totally excited to be meeting up with some hotties again, like woah!”

Bakugou says he has no idea what the hell Camie is saying, and Kirishima exclaims, “Oh! It’s a Shiketsu student from the Provisional Hero License Exam!” Kirishima proceeds to introduce himself in his intense manner, and Camie says that he kinda acts like Inasa.

It turns out that the Team Up Mission requires U.A. Academy to team up with Shiketsu at the amusement park to assist the staff with something. They meet up with the CEO of the park to figure out what exactly he needs help on. The CEO is a tiny man with a large mustache dressed up like a jester.

The CEO asks them to follow him to another side of the park, called Retro Land. This theme park is a run-down and old looking traditional theme park with barely any customers. The CEO of the theme park says that he brought them here to take part in a stage play to attract more customers.

He hands them a script, which is about a town being attacked by villains. The heroes show up and fight the villains, and the heroes end up in a pinch. However, with the help of the citizens cheering them on, the heroes are able to restore peace back to the city.

Kirishima hears the outline of the play and gets excited, saying it’s such an awesome mainstream story. Bakugou scoffs and says, “but it’s damn basic.” Kirishima then says, “Nah, I like it!”

The students then go into a rehearsal of the scene where the heroes are in a pinch. One of the professional actresses, a Dog Lady wearing a skull choker, low v-neck vest, studded belt, and long pants, says, “Oh you guys are actually heroes? Then you probably haven’t acted before?”

Kirishima then tries to do his best acting, saying “Gahh…I’m…strong….guhhh I won’t…fall down…I’ll never turn my back…because I….I….!!!” and overdoes his acting.

Camie then says “Like holy crap the Villain blindsided me, and now I’m on the floor like discarded bubble tea!”

Todoroki just falls onto the floor silently. Bakugou tries acting, screaming “I WILL NEVER FALL TO THE LIKES OF A VILLAIN!” The Dog Lady actress asks them if they were actually even trying to act, and they all say they were doing their best. The Dog Lady says she’s a bit worried about how this will go.

In either case, they need to decide which role everyone will be taking part. The Dog Lady instructs them to decide among themselves who will get what role.

Bakugou and Camie both say at the same time they want to be the lead Hero role. Camie says, “Wait, but I’m older than you so I totally should be the lead Hero role!” Bakugou gets mad and screams, “BUT I AM THE STRONGEST ONE HERE. BESIDES, I AM Q.E.D.!**”

Camie says “Damn yo, that’s the lowest of the low” and Bakugou yells, “Shut the hell up and speak your mother tongue, damnit!”

Kirishima tries to calm him saying, “Calm down guys, Camie-senpai too…!” He then notices that Todoroki is looking at a child’s playground bear spring rider, and Kirishima asks, “Oh, do you want to ride it? The staff did say we could enjoy the park as much as we’d like!” Kirishima mentions that they never really had a chance to go to a theme park ever since entering High School, and being at a theme park feels nostalgic as it brings back memories of his childhoold.

Todoroki then says, “No…I don’t have any memories of ever going to a theme park.”

Camie looks at Todoroki and says, “Uh, like no way?”

Kirishima then grabs Todoroki and says, “WELL IF THAT’S THE CASE…JUST PRACTICING OUR LINES WILL GET STALE, SO LET’S ENJOY THE THEME PARK!” and rides the bear spring rider together with Todoroki.

Camie wants to join them too, and she, Kirishima, and Todoroki go on a carousel while Bakugou gets irritated. Camie is taking a picture for Kirishima and Todoroki on her cellphone while Kirishima calls out to Bakugou saying, “Heeyyy! Bakugou, come join us!”

Bakugou scoffs, “Hmph, waste of time.”

Kirishima, Todoroki, and Camie then ride a roller coaster together and Kirishima shouts, “It’s fun you know!”

Bakugou says, “This is no time to be playing with these stupid toys…!”

Kirishima then grins and says to Bakugou “All right then, if that’s the case, let’s decide who gets the lead Hero hero role by seeing who can get the least dizzy from the tea cup ride!” This piques Bakugou’s interest, and Kirishima further taunts him saying, “If you’re not confident about it, then you don’t gotta force yourself!”

This gets Bakugou fired up and he says, “I’m going to spin this shit and kill all of you guys!!!!!!!” He sits in the tea cup next to Kirishima, Camie, and Todoroki and spins it like crazy. Camie looks like she’s going to throw up and says, “Wait…Bakugou…you’re like, turning it way too fast!”

Bakugou looks at Kirishima and taunts, “HOW IS IT!? YOU DON’T LOOK SO GOOD. GONNA GIVE UP YET!?” and Kirishima yells back, “YOU MUST BE JOKING! NOT EVEN CLOSE! TURN IT UP!!”

Bakugou then screams, “PLUS ULTRAAAAAA!!!” as he spins the cup so fast it looks as if they are not moving at all. Camie squeaks “Helllaaaaaaa…”

After they get off the ride, Bakugou, Kirishima, and Camie are wobbling around and walking unevenly, with Kirishima accidentally heading towards the direction of the girl’s bathroom in his dizzy state and Camie about to throw up on the floor. Bakugou sways and proudly points at no one, saying “You bastard, you’re all dizzy!”

Kirishima says, “Guh…did…didja see that, Bakug….erghh!” Camie says she’s going to hurl. Todoroki asks, “Uh, where are you guys even going?”

Kirishima then notices that Todoroki is completely unphased, and he asks “Todoroki…you’re okay!?” Todoroki responds, “I feel a bit uneasy…”

With that, it’s decided that Todoroki gets the lead Hero role. They then head back to the stage, and there’s a few people in the audience already as well as two camera men who will be filming this performance and uploading it online later.

All the students are ready for their performance, and as they act out the first scene, a group of people corner the CEO and threaten him. The group are land developers who tell the CEO to give up Retro Land since it’s going out of business anyway. He grabs the CEO in a chokehold, but the CEO says he won’t hand over the park to these people.

As this is happening, Camie, Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima go backstage after their first act. Camie says they can take a short break until the next scene. Kirishima remarks that the camera was focused a lot on him, but Bakugou says he’s pretty damn sure he was the one getting more spotlight.

As they walk backstage, they see the group of people threatening the CEO. Kirishima, Todoroki, and Bakugou easily take out these villains, but the villain tells the CEO that they had planted a trap at the roller coaster in Retro Land where a part of the roller coaster tracks were destroyed. The ride operators did not know this, and there’s currently a cart that will be falling off the roller coaster tracks soon. The villain mentions that no one would want to go to a theme park after hearing of such a bad accident. Kirishima realizes this and rushes first to the roller coaster ride.

Meanwhile, Camie is wondering what to do because their break is over, and they’re due to be on stage again. Since the boys are dealing with the villains, she decides to create illusions of all of them and wing the performance off script with her illusion versions of Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima.

She recreates the pretty boy Todoroki illusion, who turns to the Dog Lady, who’s playing the role of the villain, and says, “Won’t you…please stop being a villain? You should become a Hero instead!” and the Dog Lady blushes and immediately falls for it, saying “YES…!”

Since Camie can’t access the script right now, she just decides to ad lib everything and make up a new story. She makes the Illusion Kirishima turn out to be the actual villain of the story, and the camera men who are in the audience wonder what happened to the original script.

On the other side of the park, Kirishima is already on top of the roller coaster tracks and uses his hardening to stop the oncoming roller coaster cart. He tries to stop it but the cart still keeps going.

Bakugou then comes behind him and steps on his back, and Kirishima looks back and says “Bakugou!”

The guy on the front seat of the ride screams “Why are there two people [on the tracks]!?”

Bakugou says that there’s not enough manpower to stop the roller coaster. He places one hand on Kirishima’s back to support him while using his other hand to set off a huge explosion, propelling them forward to nullify the movement of the roller coaster cart.

Back at the stage, Camie is doing her best trying to improv the play. Her Illusion Villain Kirishima gloats that he will fulfill his revenge. The Illusion Todoroki cries out, “No! Please stop this fight!” while a very quiet and calm looking Bakugou places his hand on Illusion Todoroki’s shoulder.

The real Bakugou and Kirishima are still trying to stop the roller coaster cart from going further, and Kirishima hugs the front of the roller coaster as Bakugou continues to use his explosion to stop the cart. They finally successfully stop the coaster, and Kirishima falls back in relief, showing a dent in the front of the roller coaster cart in the shape of his body.

Just as they saved the roller coaster cart, Camie was finished with the play as well. The two camera men who were filming the play were so moved they started crying at how good the play was. One of the camera men mentions that he wants to bring this Hero Stage play around the entire country because it was so moving.

The resolution scene shows the Illusion Villain Kirishima shaking hands with the Illusion Quiet Bakugou with the closing line, “And with that, the hero that looked the most like a Villain was able to open the actual Villain’s heart and let him turn a new leaf.”

The crowd cheers as Illusion Bakugou and Illusion Villain Kirishima continue to shake hands.

At the roller coaster, Todoroki assists the people in the roller coaster cart off the tracks by using his ice to create an emergency ladder. Kirishima then smiles at Camie and says, “Good work Camie-senpai! You did it!” Camie looks like she’s going to hurl again since she overused her quirk, saying “I feel hella sick…I like, overdid the illusions…hella…”

With that, the four students finish their training at the amusement park together. Later that week, the Retro Land Stage Play was uploaded onto a video streaming site, and the video got 1,200 likes and counting. The show was a hit online, and because of that, Retro Land’s popularity bounced back and more people started going to the theme park.

However, because of the stage play, Kirishima, Bakugou, and Todoroki also gained some new fans.

The last scene shows the two camera men hiding in the bushes with cameras while Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima are walking.

Kirishima ask them, “Hey uh…do you guys get the feeling we’re being watched…?”

Still though he can't help, but think of his darling as something more. He's a womanizer and rumors say that he's had many different girlfriends at the same time. But with the sudden entrance of his darling something seemed to change. He suddenly turned extremely obsessive, wanted to know everything about them and he could never stop thinking about them ever since. So even if he knows that some things he does aren't technically right, he views this whole situation as some sort of destiny and that his darling is his only one. He's quite infatuated with his darling for that reason.

✨Manipulative and overprotective. Hibiki obviously has his charm upon his sleeve and there is a reason he's been voted for several years in a row as a boyfriend every girl would like to have. Problem is that if his darling is looking for a serious relationship, they might ditch him since he is a womanizer and they wouldn't want to be with someone who hangs out with numerous women at the same time. Hibiki has to prove something in here and he is aware of that. But he's a determined and persistent man and he will make sure that he'll court his darling successfully and he isn't above making himself look better than other possible competitors. And a man has to protect his lover after all so of course he is more protective, though he overdoes it in order to look more like a gentleman.

✨Hibiki might just experience for the very first time in his life how real jealousy feels like when you have someone you want to love and cherish for the rest of your life. As someone who is constantly being talked over and the knowledge that he is everyone's dream man give him a certain confidence and since he is a polite man, he never really lashes out on someone. But he learns quickly that he dislikes it when someone else tries to charm his darling the way he does and that e likes it even less when they react flattered by it. Such experiences never really fail to make him a bit more possessive since it's a brilliant reminder that he wants no one else to steal you away from him.

✨He ensures protection as good as he can, but if his darling is a mage themselves he naturally admires their strength and respects it when they can kick someone's asses all by their own. We did see in the Grand Magic Games that he isn't exactly strong when it comes to brute strength so in that aspect his darling might actually surpass him, but he is smart and great in other things. He has without a doubt his own little fanbase and has influence due to his popularity so it may very well be that he uses this against people he views as serious threats and destroys their reputation just like this. He does this more with people who harrassed the s/o or make their life hard rather than people who try to snatch his darling away and make them theirs. In such cases he rather trusts his own looks and charms.

✨Assuming that he does manage to become his darling's boyfriend, it might be not very likely that they would break up very fast since Hibiki almost appears to be the prefect boyfriend, he's probably just a bit too much. But since Hibiki views the whole reason you two met in the first place as fate he of course doesn't plan on letting his darling leave now that he's found true love. He uses manipulation over violence since he sees himself above such brute methods and in general he prefers blackmailing and bribing over physical force the moment he fails to solve an issue the normal way.

✨It's really not seen as anything serious when he first is seen in public with you, but when it is suddenly made clear soon after that he stopped looking at other women and stopped flirting with every women he's encountering, it's made clear that this is due to his relationship with you. His teammates and Ichiya congratulate him soon after for having found the real passionate love. Hibiki is actually a bit careful around his teammates when you're with him since they are womanizers as well and for that might behave the same with you which does make him jealous a bit. I think he has no real problem being extremely cheesy and romantic with you even in front of others. That guy does give his darling space even if he can be rather clingy from time to time, but if he misses them he tends to try to communicate per telepathy.

Eve Tearm

💛Eve is pretty much alike to Hibiki in this matter. He as well is a semi-delusional Yandere. However, he isn't like Hibiki a more intellectual character yet and different from Hibiki lacks the more serious side. He is younger after all and views that as part of his charm so he has a far more stronger side to himself than Hibiki has. Because Eve falls much more faster in love than Hibiki does and for that has a much more stronger view on destiny and that him and his darling are meant to be. He is protective as well. He might be younger and maybe less experienced than his other friends, but he as well wants to prove his dedication and love to the s/o.

💛Obsessive which should be obvious. What kind of lover would he be if he wouldn't know how to make you happy and how to always surprise you pleasantly. Something that still marks a big difference between him and Hibiki is the fact that Eve actually turns out to be more on the shy side once he's really fallen hard for his darling which is why he at first tends to be a bit more on the stalkerish side before Ichiya, Ren and Hibiki encourage the young man to go for this beaty before someone else takes them away from Eve. That includes them as well, they are womanizers. Eve uses manipulation less than Hibiki does since he is surprisingly bashful, but he will sweet talk things more harmless and appealing if he has too.

💛Eve is less possessive than Hibiki is and overall is less jealous. His darling gets their freedom and can talk to others all they like, he can endure them having friends and spending time with others. He is somewhat more cautios around other members of The Trimens for clear reasons. It isn't like Hibiki and Ren don't respect the fact that yo are Eve's lover, but being charming and flirting with women runs simply through their blood and so they might subconsciously accidentally and up doing just that. Eve of course is respectful with his friends and they understand him and stop quickly as well. In front of strangers flirting he still retains that more mature approach similar to Hibiki, but just like him he shares the dislike of seeing other people being all gentleman and nice to you the same way he is. He's not shy when it comes to making it to others clear that you already have him.

💛Similar to Hibiki he will share the same respect and admiration in case you are a wizard yourself and for that have spells up your own sleeves to fight for yourself, though in case of a sudden battle Eve would like to fight right besides you. Even with his whole soulmate belief Eve still mostly turns away from the idea of killing someone as long as it isn’t an emergency situation. He likes discussing it out as well and in the case that someone does try to cause troubles, you have a guild ready to help you out since Eve naturally won’t let anyone harm you. He can sabotage certain situations as well where odds are put against the person he views as a threat.

💛Assuming that you are part of Blue Pegasus, you two would already spend a lot of time together so there would be no need for him to kidnap you since he constantly hangs around you in the guild, regarding clinginess he can be more extreme than Hibiki is. He is younger and more delusional after all. And since he is seen from everyone in the guild as sie sort of younger brother he would definitely be able to count on their help in case something should have happened that caused you to be mad at him.

💛The wizard, despite higher clinginess, still respects the fact to hold back in public more than Hibiki would. Ren and Hibiki most likely triggered him to go out of his way and talk to his darling way back when he was still a secret admirer and didn’t know how to set up a good scenario and how to talk to them. Has a more submissive nature to him so he would like his darling to be the one to lead this relationship whilst he follows along and does in the meantime things to please them and make them happy. But similar to Hibiki he stops flirting with other women as we for the sake of you.

Ren Akatsuki

🎆Funnily from all three of them, he probably is the most lucid one. But he still only is a semi-aware Yandere to have, he's stained ith the same delusions as his team members. He can view many of his habits as rather unusual and he knows that as well, but in the end his belief in the greater love manages to overcome most of his doubts and insecurities whether he's wrong about his feelings or not. He mostly tries to show his feelings in a more tsunderish form, but in the end he as well is far too much lovestruck to come over as very cold and his darling can tease him greatly for it. From The Trimens he's notably the most possessive Yandere to have.

🎆Protective and manipulative. No matter how cold he may try to act, he'll always defend you from others and save you when you do trip into some issues and even if he complains afterwards that you should have been more careful, he was very worried and that's evident. Ren is subtle about his manipulations as well, mainly because he wants his darling to love him without him having to use bribing and other sorts of lies and tricks, but similar to Eve he will do it when there would be the need for it.

🎆He doesn't get along very well with other men except Ichiya, Hibiki and Eve for the real funny reasons because he views other guys as his rivals in love (don't expect girls to be safe from this either, he'll merely be more polite). And Ren is the most rude about his jealousy because even if he is more embarrassed to show how much he really do loves you, he sure as hell won't have others flirt with you and take you away from him. He's the passive-aggressive type with such people and his feelings for his darling are always made obvious during such times. In front of people like Hibiki and Eve he is less harsh, but it doesn't stop him from shooing them away when they are suddenly all over you as well.

🎆He might just be the one who would be the easiest triggered from all of them to act when someone starts looking more and more like potential troubles for the s/o and the relationship. I would say that with love rivals he wouldn't be violent, more focused on just scaring them away and use threats and warnings to stay away the moment someone becomes very persistent on having his darling. If it comes to people such as bullies or perverts he has a faster way to react because simple flirting isn't anywhere near as worse as being catcalled or otheriwse humiliated. But just like with Hibiki and Eve I really only see him killing someone when the circumstances are very bad and the person turns out to be a possible death sentence for his darling if he doesn't do something. Anything can happen in the heat f a battle.

🎆Despite his tries to come over as a Tsundere, he still spends a lot of time with his darling which kind of blows his cover up, but that really isn't something new. Ren isn't necessarily clingy unless someone triggered his jealousy extremely or recently something bad happened to his darling and for that reason he decides to accompany them for safety reasons. Kidnapping is still something he wouldn't really consider since, as already mentioned, he is the most self-conscious Yandere to have from those three.

🎆How you can tease him about his constant tries to come over as a Tsundere despite easily getting flustered around you is really funny. Ren wants to look cool in front of his darling which means he obviously doesn't want to embarrass himself whilst you're watching so he always tries his best. He cools his interactions with other girls extremely down after he's courted you since he obviously cares about you more than anyone else. He might still fall back into the habit of simple flirting, but he learned his lessons quickly when you had enough of it, avoided him and did the exact same thing with Hibiki and Eve who naturally flirted back. He got quite mad at them afterwards for this, though they only helped you giving Ren a taste of his own medicine.

Why does everything that is unhealthy to eat have to be so delicious? It's like a really sick joke, these stuff are probably going to kill me some day but i would not regret it.

Human brain evolves to eat sugar, carbs, and fat for survival by making them all taste good. We then proceed to invent ways to massively up those counts for our own tastebuds' sensations and accidentally start taking too much of this and not enough of that. All of these things are good for you, that's why your tastebuds like them, and you should be eating carbs and fat and yes, sugar. The problem is when your diet gets imbalanced and you neglect some needs while overdoing others.

And teeth rotting, because human teeth are just terribly designed in general. Polyphyodonty, that's where it's at.

Heyyo seen more Healin Good Precure? Also gotten around too watching the Mahoutsukai precure film?

Well, I just finished Episode 30 a few days ago and just learned about Daruizen’s “Mini-Me”, but, yeah, I think this series is already a lot better than Mahoutsukai and maybe even Star Twinkle.

There are some really strong filler episodes here like Episode 17 (Chiyu helps out a little at her family’s inn for a few days and helps an American girl adjust to moving to Japan), Episode 25 (A timid little girl mistakes Pegitan for a toy and accidentally kidnaps him while Pegitan struggles to tell her what he really is), and Episode 29 (Nodoka starts running more and risks overdoing it, so her friends have to help her find a healthy schedule and diet). I still love how both the Cures and their partners get their own focus episodes, and it makes the Healing Animals feel like actual characters instead of just transformation devices like what they did with Mofurun.

The main focus of this quarter is the introduction of a new character created by the prayers of Queen Teatine (Latte’s mother who I didn’t mention in my last post) to protect her daughter, said prayers manifesting into Asumi/Cure Earth. She was born from the Earth itself, is named after how the Japanese pronounce the English word “Earth”, and her name is Cure Earth, so obviously, that means she has wind powers.

Unfortunately, the Earth was under a little pressure to save Latte from being killed by Batetemoda, so they kind of had to skip over some key details when creating her, because outside of combat skills and a desire to protect Latte, Asumi is, for lack of a better word, kind of an airhead. She doesn’t really get a lot of social cues, is obsessed with caring for Latte (and even then, screws up at that occasionally), and would probably get killed if not for Nodoka, Chiyu, and Hinata helping her. I’m not even exaggerating that last bit. In one episode Asumi almost gets hit by a car because she didn’t know what a stoplight was, and another where she had to be told to take off the wrapper when eating a snack. You know, seeing how six Cures aren’t even from Earth or lack social awareness, you’d think they’d set up some kind of class to teach newbies this kind of stuff.

Obviously, Asumi’s main character arc is learning about becoming her own person and how to put Latte’s needs over what she thinks is right for her, which I like. I felt like Haa-chan’s character got bogged down with the whole Emerald and Mother Rapapa thing, so I like how they’re focusing more on Asumi individually instead of having the villains chase after her like a plot device.

I like how Latte gets a little more focus here, though her desire to join the battle is kind of muddled by the fact that she just helps Asumi transform and doesn’t really do anything else, not even the finisher like Mofurun does. There was this one episode where all four Cures transformed and then immediately placed Latte in a safe place to hide while they fought the Byogen.

Unfortunately, Batetemoda bites the dust far too early and ends up being Cure Earth’s first kill, which is a real shame, as it’s clear the writers were planning something with him wanting to take command of the Byogens, but possibly had to cut it due to COVID.

Admittedly, his final episode did introduce a way for the Byogens to power up their minions by injecting them with crystals created from their fallen brethren, causing them to evolve much faster, kind of like supernatural blood doping. It’s interesting, though I think the whole race by the general to get more “Mega Parts” could have been focused on more.

There were two other humanoid Byogens introduced, Nebusoku and Kedary, who both get killed in the same episodes they are created. Hell, Kedary at least impacted the plot while Nebusoku just got treated like a MOTW. Again, not sure if this was because of COVID, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

Of course, there’s the actual plot twist regarding Daruizen being responsible for making Nodoka sick all those years, and it’s a real gut punch. Daruizen just takes the first chance to taunt Nodoka with the information, and I just love how he isn’t that impacted by it. He just sees this as something that makes Nodoka more interesting to him. Nodoka even vows to take her conflict with him more personally in the same episode it’s revealed in.

Which I pretty much interpreted as her thinking “Mr. Daruizen... I should KICK YOUR FUCKING ASS!”

But yeah, this was overall a very solid second third, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how things are resolved, especially with Nodoka and Daruizen.
