Check your conspiracy theory part two: double, double, boil and trouble

Does your conspiracy theory sound something like this?

There is a large number of people who practice a form of religion that demands animal and human sacrifices.

Their practices can be traced all the way back to ancient times.

They are responsible for many mysterious murders, disappearances, and animal deaths.

They especially prey on children, or require children for certain rituals.

Their rituals include immoral sexual activities.

They practice ritual cannibalism.

They use something from the victims' bodies for medicinal or mystical purposes.

They regularly cast curses.

They have special means of manipulating or controlling people's minds.

Strange medical and psychological symptoms are evidence that one has been targeted or tortured by these people.

Their rituals and holidays are viscerally disgusting mockeries of normal, wholesome rituals and holidays. Feces, urine, and blood are often involved.

Members are severely punished (physically and psychologically) for transgressions.

Members are frequently driven to suicide.

Members often lead double lives, often seeming to be good law-abiding citizens to the public.

There are numerous telltale signs that give their allegiance away; EG, strange body markings or owning things that could be used in rituals.

If evidence can't be found, it's because they have ways of hiding it.

They have ways of traveling and transporting victims to seemingly improbable locations with no one noticing.

They might believe themselves to be worshiping pagan gods, but it's actually a satanic deception.

All of these claims go back to early modern witch panic and blood libel. (There is significant overlap between these things.) You can find this kind of stuff claimed in literature like the Malleus Malificarum, A Discovery of Witches (the one by Matthew Hopkins), and the Compendium Maleficarum. So it was established in the last episode that Taylor still believes in Santa (tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it's come up prior to this ep too but anyways-) so... Do you think (saint) Nicky been has portalling in every year since the betrayal to sneak in a gift for his son amongst the pile? That Cassandra doesn't even notice because it's just one among the many many presents she herself has bought and wrapped? But every year without fail... Taylor gets one gift that simply says "from: Nick" and well, obviously that has to mean it's from Santa (a conclusion which Nicky expects him to come to, and why he can sign his name at all, though he misses when he could just write "dad"). And one year when he's still quite young, a sleepy little Taylor actually catches Nicky in the act, and Nicky wishes more than anything that he could just *stay*, but instead he only softly tells Taylor to go back to bed, and Taylor thinks that Santa is a lot younger and a bit sadder than he expected, but what's he gonna do- not listen to Santa Claus? So he smiles meekly at the man he does not know to be his father, and hurriedly heads back to his room.

Also yes of course Nicky eats the fucking cookies left out of course he's not gonna pass up on free cookies (which are home-baked to top it off) come on that's a given.

Just saw someone say that RAMCOA "isn't real and is an antisemitic conspiracy theory" which... I don't know. I think that's dismissive of the pervasiveness of Xian abuse and the actual context of RAMCOA. A lot of Xians are involved in organized cults and traffic/abuse people through various means. At the very least I think there is nuance here. I'd like to hear your take though

For those who don't know the acronym, it stands for Ritual Abuse, Mind Control, and Organized Abuse, and was coined by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and organization with a history of past and present abuse and corruption.

It's not real. It's a conspiracy that began in the 1980s and 1990s with the Satanic Panic. Some corrupt psychologists practiced "repressed memory recovery", where they convinced their patients that they were ritually abused by satanic cults as children, but forgot about it due to trauma. In reality, it's actually very easy to convince someone that they remember something, even when it didn't actually happen. There is no nuance. While cults absolutely do exist, there is no underground network of cults (Christian or otherwise) engaging in occult ritual sacrifices and abuses. To assert that there is leans deeply into antisemitic and xenophobic conspiracy.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that certain dissociative disorders aren't real. They've existed before the Satanic Panic and before the epidemic of false memory implanting by psychologists. However, people with trauma disorders are very susceptible to manipulation, especially by mental healthcare professionals. Someone can genuinely believe they were kidnapped by a network of occultists, that doesn't mean it actually happened to them. It also doesn't mean that they're malicious liars- false memories can feel very real, and as we've learned, it's quite easy to convince someone of a memory that didn't happen. People who believe they were victims of these things deserve our compassion- the bad-faith actors are the doctors and therapists who manipulated them, not the people suffering from mental illness.

I’m absolutely obsessed with all the conspiracy theories involving celebrities selling their souls. So many Christians love to talk about this and it’s not even biblically accurate. Like, you’re thinking of Faust who sold his soul in an old Bible fanfic. The devil doesn’t make deals, he doesn’t even cause sin. Like I tried writing a paper over this in college and my entire thesis had to be trashed because nowhere in the Bible does Satan actually bargain for a soul and he doesn’t cause people to sin. So much blame for people being selfish and choosing themselves is placed on the devil. “The devil made me do it.” No he didn’t. You chose to do so and deflected the blame to your favorite scapegoat.

What is Beelzebub's Secret + What is Raphael Hiding? (Obey Me Nightbringer Mini Theory)

You wanna listen to a random person stuck on Lesson 40 ramble about an out of pocket theory?

You've come to the right place.

And ironically enough, it all started with food! All I did was look up the names of all the food items in the Surprise Guest interactions, and something caught my eye that I don't think I've ever seen a single person mention.

Yes, you figured it out by now by me just mentioning it and yes, obviously these belong to the newest 3 characters. In the exact order they were introduced on Instagram when they teased the characters. (Though that can easily be coincidence!)

THE POINT IS

Comfort Candy for Thirteen. (Purely based on vibes, she has a sweet tooth AND her sister is named Candy)

Black Coffee of Melancholy for Mephistopheles. (Vibes, he's a bitch, bitchy drink for bitchy boy, it's fancy)

So that leaves Backstabbing Sandwich for Raphael. (Vibes. The most "Celestial" looking of the three.)

Am I assuming there's something up with Raphael? Yes.

Am I assuming he betrayed the brothers sometime during the Celestial War? Also yes.

For why? Because it makes sense and I hate his ass.

Now, for someone stuck on Lesson 40; I unfortunately have QUITE a bit of spoilers shown to me.

The first being Raphael practically abused all the brothers back in the Celestial Realm; particularly Beel.

The second being he has more plot relevance than any of the new characters. (His Wiki is literally longer than Thirteen's and Mephistopheles' combined)

The third being why did he get an entire cutscene in the Obey Me Nightbringer Trailer whereas Mephistopheles' and Thirteen didn't?

Because he's important. He's important to the plot and he's important to the war.

And possibly, he could've had a larger hand at starting it in the first place than we know.

What does this have to do with Beel?

... you expect me to have all the answers and connect everything? Yeah, maybe with another theorist, but I'm literally throwing the fishing line SO far out here.

Alright, alright, but I do have one...

That the brothers don't know Raphael betrayed them except Beel.

And again, this is just my shot in the dark!

The truly and only, only answer I have is that (to me at least) Beel's and Raphael's relationship seems off.

It's how it seems Beel is on edge with him, how it seems his treatment by Raphael in the Celestial Realm was worse out of everyone else's.

It's how there's something there that's not being said and aside from just the vibes™:

Beel is hiding something.

Raphael is hiding something.

And I think it's connected to the exact same thing.

Well, there are these things in the game called Iterators and if you visit the... "better functioning" one, he'll give you a thing called a mark of communication that lets the slugcat understand the Iterators, so maybe IK managed to do that and it lets her understand what the others are saying

Also, poor Levi. I feel like even if she was reassured that he wasn't a predator, she would still keep her guard up around him for a while as a just in case.

And everyone just sort of getting together and watching IK do her things feels like it's a lot funnier than it should be.

For some reason, something I think would be funny would be if Levi somehow got Rain World the game, mostly just him having a "wait a sec-" moment when he sees the slugcats and the realization that whatever this game is, it's probably connected to her.

ik: [just chilling. caught a fly. slept for a bit, got up and moved two inches to the right and went to sleep again. stared out of the window scoping out the scenery for an hour and then slept for another two]

everyone else: riveting. we will be seated for the rest of the day

at some point they start buying gadgets and puzzles to see how ik reacts, and it's at this point that they realise a lot of her initial reactions to unfamiliar objects is to throw them. she'll sit there clutching it in deep contemplation for a moment, then scamper purposefully to the edge of the table and toss it off

i feel like solomon in particular would be interested in properly studying her from a scientific standpoint, but satan (and most of the brothers) are convinced he is going to do something nefarious, so it just ends up being team rocket trying to capture pikachu situation

one time they bring ik over to the castle and she disappears for two hours, then shows up dragging along a rat. barbatos immediately passes out

Recovered memory stuff and SRA conspiracies are definitely already A Thing in some more niche internet communities with an otherwise progressive veneer, only now with an even thicker layer of "BELIEVE VICTIMS" added. Honestly I've been worried for ages now that it'll break out from there into the mainstream again :/

Oof I can believe that. I keep thinking specifically about a video I saw that said if you sleep all night but still wake up feeling tired it's a sign of childhood trauma, and there were people in the comments being like "I never knew that! That happens to me sometimes, does that mean something happened in my childhood that I can't remember?" It's just . . . somewhat frightening how much of the internet is filled with very suggestible people who take stuff like that at face value, and are very at risk of falling into dangerous conspiracy theories because of it.

The Catholic Church is a genuinely harmful organization, but that doesn't mean it is "of Satan". The harm it has caused and is causing is entirely earthly; so are its motives.

It's harms have nothing to do with icons, the Sign of the Cross, Mother Mary, or whatever else evangelicals say. It has everything to do with money, power, and control.

That's it. It's a corporation in an alb and cassock.

Satan has nothing to do with it (even if I believed in his existence, which I don't).

God also has nothing to do with it (even if I believed in his existence, which I don't).
