Ahem *puts on best "ok people listen up" tone*
Good Omens (and everyone else) fandom! It seems we have regressed a bit....somehow? On the definition of Asexual! Let's clear this up!
Yes the actual literal meaning of the term: A=no sexual =....sex....well but actually no, which is the point of the post
Dictionary definition is why we are here!
Asexual: a person who experiences no sexual feelings or desires, or who is not sexually attracted to anyone.
Note the last line please!
Asexuality is a spectrum.
On one side you have: I cannot become sexually aroused by anything, and in some cases I do not want to
And on the other you (might) have: Literally any other stimulation other than A Face will do just fine!
Asexuals can be turned on by: the written word, a comic, a scene in a movie/show/porn/irl/etc, physical contact, etc!
There is a difference between attraction and desire! Allosexuals usually have that lumped into one thing, to them there (usually) isn't one without the other! If you're attracted to someone it means your body is uh...also good to go. For a lot of asexual people you can be attracted to someone, but your body's just off reading a book or something
Asexual people have crushes, fall in love, comment on how aesthetically pleasing someone is! But they probably don't want to jump their bones like right now (or possibly ever! Depends where you fall on the spectrum!)
You might say: no but! You're talking about demisexual people!
Maybe! Probably not! Demi is just a place way to one side of the spectrum. Where, after getting to know someone really well, you may actually look at them one day and go...."oh shit! Hi down there when'd you wake up??" Your attraction and desire have fused for this person/s...congrats!
An asexual person may never ever want to have sex with their partner. This is fine! But it needs to be discussed between everyone near the start of a relationship. And people need to acknowledge that "once you've found The One everything will click!" is pretty deeply internalized. Be sure you truly understand that that's not (necessarily) the case before commiting to a relationship
An asexual person may absolutely want to (awesome!), but have a hard time getting things moving (put down the damn book there are things to do!!) In which case it's good for all parties to see if they can figure out what sorts of things do turn you on, (as long as you're both willing and able), and how to approach letting your partner/s know they'd like to initiate fun times. (Without it coming across as awkward or pushy!) This makes for a healthy relationship!
"I'm doing this only to please my partner" is not healthy! It's also a really condescending thing to say about all asexual people! Please stop!!
And yeah an asexual person may indeed realize they're demi after starting a relationship! Neat!
Sexuality is like gender. It's all made up because we like labels! Your bits know what they want, when they want it! (Your brain ofc has the final say, I'm very well aware that bits go way off the rails sometimes, that's an entire other post lol)
Other people do not get to dictate how you feel, and like gender it can take a while to realize what your orientation may be. And that label can change so many times over the course of your life!!
Love who you love, have sex with who you (and they) want to have sex with, or don't!! But stop telling other people what they are and are not, simply because your definition or experience is different from theirs
(Please let me know if I've left out something crucial or gotten something horridly wrong! My research is personal/others experience + tumblr explanations + a google search here and there. Please do not come in my replies/comments/inbox telling me the whole post is wrong.....that's petty)

The Netflix Avatar isn't perfect.
but once you reconcile the story changes and understand that it is an adaptation, thus allowing creative license, you can begin to warm up to it.
in other words, I didn't love it at first, even though I wanted to. but the last few episodes, especially Masks, really made it hard not to like.

I’ll be honest here guys (this is quite embarrassing but, you know).
When I was like fourteen and I think Legacy had just come out, but I was OBSESSED with BTS at the time. (To a semi unhealthy degree). While reading the book Shannon mentioned a post of a boy band on Amy Fosters wall that Sophie had never heard of before. I am assuming she was meaning to imply this was one direction. But you know. I’m insane. So I researched deeply into the KOTLC Time line and lined up all the events. Anyways Sophie left in 2012 which was a YEAR after one direction released their first album. Now 1D wasn’t at the height of their fame; snd Sophie was a socially awkward tween BUT I’m TELLING YOU GUYS. THEY WERE EVERYWHERE . Literally inescapable part of the western world, especially I would say in America where literally everyone fawned over UK accents. Uh anyways. From this thesis I figured that Sophie just could not have not know 1D. And I bet you right now they were on her iPod music playlist. Anyways I concluded that the boyband poster was BTS. Also one of my favourite songs from them at the time is called black swan. I had an animatic planned to it.
Now is where the ask SHOULD stop. Because, well… the rest is quite embarrassing but I think it’s funny.
With the collision of these two interests of mind some insane washed over me and I decided I had to write a fanfiction. It was about Amy Foster joining the neverseen around the same time as Tam and Glimmer were around and it had an ungodly amount of BTS references and fandom jokes that I think were there purely to make me giggle. I was having QUITE the time you see and I posted maybe four chapters to Ao3? It was a complete cringefest. But I enjoyed it and that’s all that mattered at the time !! (I still kinda live by that statement). Anyways I didn’t expect for it to be exactly a hit but I got a couple of hits and like maybe 2 Kudos. I was like cool, people are enjoying this. That’s great! Anyways I got a comment on the fic. It was something along the lines of “Imao what is this.”.
And dude.
Look I’m not THAT great at reading text but that broke me. I gave up writing the fic and pulled it from the platform. Suffice to say my tolerance for criticism wasn’t that good- but I’m proud to say I have really built up that cringe but free mindset lately and every year I grow stronger. Anyways to anyone who’s ever written a fic or done something that they found fun and joyful and whimsy and someone else was being a little hater (even if they didn’t mean it) I see you, I feel you and I hope you are able to find a happier space where you csn be cringe and free !!! 💜

Making Eddie breakfast in the morning wearing nothing but his Hellfire Club shirt. He walks behind you with tired eyes and wraps his arms around your waist, closing the space between you with a quick thrust.
"You didn't have to do this, y'know. I'm plenty capable of cooking for us both." You can feel the smile on his lips as he talks closely into your ear, clenching you tighter in a loving squeeze.
"I'm aware," you murmur back, "but can you please just let me take care of you for a change?"
"Fine," he agrees with a playful smack to your ass as he backs away, arms now raised, "but later," he grins, "I get to take care of you."

Saying that Crosshair calling joining the Empire a "mistake" is on par with him saying he forgot to put the milk back in the fridge is such a bad faith take. 🙄
This is the actual definition of mistake - a wrong judgment; a wrong action or statement proceeding from faulty judgment, inadequate knowledge, or inattention
And that's exactly what he did. You're welcome.

I think about the second season of Millennium a lot, and its conclusion that doomsday will start simply out of indifference.
I think about it every time I compare my fatigued, post-COVID self to others and find myself lacking. I think about it every time I realise that my life increasingly feels like it's been allowed to slip through the holes in the great universal colander. I think about it every time I remember how everyone just decided to give up and move on to the next shiny topic offered up by the 24-hour news cycle.
It's an entirely human apathy, which is in many ways the worst kind of apathy. Inhuman apathy at least implies wilful coldness and shittiness, an active desire to not care. But with human apathy, oh you don't even have to do a thing my friend. You can just sit back and let yourself get distracted. Maybe you can even pretend to care about something else!
"Sit back and do nothing. Anyone can do it. Hell, most people do."
You really don't need floods, or earthquakes, or falling comets, or giant crabs roaming the Earth. You just need people who've decided not to care. It's so, so simple and easy.
I think about the second season of Millennium a lot.

it's frankly annoying to read a post that 1, complains about shippers seeing their ship romantically (pls learn logic) and 2, pretends that skk doesn't have so many amazing analyses abt their individual characters all over socmed.
character metas about chuuya, chuuya and the flags, chuuya and the mafia, dazai, dazai and oda, dazai and the buraiha trio, dazai and the agency....wonderful analyses written by ppl who put a lot of thought in the dynamic between skk themselves and their other relationships and their individual characters.
if you choose to ignore that, that's on you.

Why people love S1 Vinland Saga and hate S2 (A Theory)
Tumblr media
There's something special about War Arc Thorfinn for so many people. I've heard a lot of discourse about Season 2 and how it doesn't have enough action. About how Thorfinn is lame now because he's only farming. (etc... etc...) I still think you're a loser and lack media literacy if you hate Season 2 just because it doesn't have 'enough action'. Although, I think there is a deeper reason why the transition between Arcs and Seasons feels so monumental here.
Change, life and death, and the passing of time are all bittersweet things for many people. A lot of people fear these things, and the transition between Season 1 and Season 2 has a lot of them. Thorfinn becomes empty, Canute is now a king, and so many of the major characters that we grew up with are now dead for the sake of Thorfinn's development.
We also have the passing of generational trauma and how our characters deal with it. It felt like Thorfinn was an angry little kitten, and now he is a depressed and then enlightened man. It can cause whiplash. A sense of loss. A sense of sadness within us. Many people regress when faced with such things. Which is why Season 2 can feel jarring to most.
We once had something full of action, and now we have nothing. There are a lot of people on their journey to healing. So many people still have their internalized hatred and emotions within them. Which is why they connect with how broken and conflicted Thorfinn is in Season 1. So many people can relate to him. That anger. That pain. That wanting to hurt everyone who hurt you.
It's relatable. It's healing in a way.
Then we have Thorfinn in Season 2, who is beginning to heal. Who is depressed. Who learns to love and gains a friend. For a lot of people, that causes a conflicting feeling inside. Why am I not there? Why can't that be me? Why does that cause me to feel this way? It can trigger a bad reaction or a need to regress to how things used to be.
People are so used to being broken... that they are scared to heal. The anger and pain is the only thing they've ever known. So they relate and love Season 1 Thorfinn. 'He's so me fr fr.'
It's different, and it hurts to see people (even fictional characters) grow and change so drastically. We also have a sub-culture of anime enthusiasts who just like themeless fighting and large explosions of color. So people who like just seeing dramatic fights and bland storylines won't like this. They are used to the 'main character being angry, then defeating a monster, then winning, and then getting angry again.' This is the cycle that continues through many (in my opinion) poorly written manga and books.
Manga like Vinland Saga, Vagabond, and Berserk (etc...) offer a deeper and more gut-wrenching approach to this. They focus on the characters and the themes more than baseline action and intrigue. That's why treasured pieces of literature have such small fanbases. We live in a society that prioritizes 'fast food' intake of content with little substance or meaning. People just want to see something pretty and not think about it. Which is a side effect of many people's addiction to TikTok.
Which pains me but also makes me happy. I like the Vinland Saga fan base; I like that it's small. I can't help but feel a little protective over fictional characters because this story has meant so much to me and my own personal growth. We've seen what happens when themeless and quite bland animes get really large fan bases. (My Hero Academia, for example.) I don't want the message of this story to be lost because people so easily write it off for not filling their dopamine hits.
So from people's own trauma and connections to Season 1 Thorfinn to substanceless media being popularized, it isn't a surprise that many people just write off Season 2. No, it isn't the same as Season 1, but that isn't a bad thing. Want more Season 1 Thorfinn? Intake fanfiction or art created by fans, or make some of your own. You are not limited to only what is shown on your screen or in the manga. That's the great thing about fan bases and fan-made things. It's your interpretation of the character. It's both the original creators and yours.
Just be decent and try to have some media literacy. To all of the 'Incels', 'beta males', and rage baiters who try to hate on this masterpiece- go back to your fanservice animes with poorly written female characters and unneeded nudity.
I didn't know how to really get my thoughts out correctly while writing this, so I hope everyone who reads it understands what I am trying to say.

Still nervous to post more HCs of Barnaby Brooks Jr, but here we go:
Barnaby has ophidiophobia, which is fear of snakes. He’s had it since he was younger, but worsened with Ouroboros.
He draws in his free time, and is actually pretty good. He mostly draws plants and landscapes.
Similar to rabbits, he’ll tap his foot if he is agitated or anxious. He will stomp if he’s really angry.
Some pet names will make him weak, and by weak, I mean, blushing so hard he looks like a tomato. Especially when he's called "baby bunny"
I hc him being on the Autism spectrum (I have ASD myself). He has moments where everything's overwhelming and he needs a quiet place to relax.
Barnaby's hearing is very sensitive. (possibly due to ASD) Loud noises startle him, and due to this, he hates thunderstorms.
He does have some form of PTSD from his time with Maverick and the deaths of his parents.
Barnaby does have shutdowns and meltdowns. Meltdowns for him are more rare than shutdowns. If he is really overwhelmed, most often than not, he’ll shutdown. He doesn’t really want to draw attention to himself.
Wrapping a soft blanket around him really calms him down after a stressful day. It is sometimes used by his partner to help him sleep, (typically followed with other actions like cuddling.) when Barnaby’s insomnia hits.
Barnaby loves the smell of lavender.
Continuing with more rabbit behaviors, he’ll nuzzle or chin things to claim them as his own. Typically its Kotetsu. If he’s excited, he’ll start running around and jumping off the walls. (It’s what as know as a “binky” for rabbits) Barnaby will also flop on his side when he’s feeling content and just lay there.
Barnaby’s got thick thighs and no one can tell me otherwise. He crushed a watermelon between his thighs in just a few seconds.
Even with his power deactivated, his kicks are deadly.
Barnaby is pretty touch adverse (yet another symptom of ASD) to anyone except for a select few people.
He is gay, and uses he/him pronouns.
Unlike Kotetsu, he doesn’t like swimming. Kotetsu is trying to get him used to the water slowly, one step at a time.
Barnaby is nearsighted, but its almost on the severe side.
He sings while he's in the kitchen, or whenever he thinks he's alone.
Definitely was a momma's boy.
His full name is Barnaby Emile Brooks Jr. (“Emil” is pronounced as e-MEEL btw.)
Barnaby has a strict routine. If his routine is interrupted, he gets upset.
Barnaby actually had a lisp as a young kid. Due to speech therapy for not only his ASD, but also his lisp, his lisp is mostly gone, so you wouldn’t even know he had one in the first place. He does occasionally lisp, which is embarrassing to him, but Kotetsu thinks it’s adorable.
Barnaby does stim, but often masks it. (His stimming is mostly rocking back and forth and hand flapping)

Hi, I have a bizarre headcanon involving Stranger Things and it has a surprise crossover with the boys. We know that Steve's Parents are a mystery within the show, as Steve only vaguely acknowledges his parents and says there never around or there for him. It's been implied that Steve has an unhealthy relationship with his father, as in season three, his father had forced him to work at Scoops Ahoy over the summer after his college application failed. Now, here's where the crossover with The Boys come in. My theory/headcanon right now is that Soldier Boy is secretly Steve's dad. Here's parallels in both shows that secretly prove this -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soldier Boy's father treated him as a disappointment, with Benjamin viewing his true son Homelander as "weak, snivelling" and "starving for attention". Ben grew up with a rich family and was forced by his own father to attend boarding school. This fits perfectly with Steve Harrington's situation as he grew up in a rich family, his father alongside his mother rarely present due to work committments. Steve has a tense and unhealthy relationship with his father, prove of this is when Steve is unable to get into college and is sent to work in Scoops Ahoy as punishment by his father, just like Soldier Boy's own father sent him away. He wanted to teach him discipline. It's logical that Benjamin would treat his own son the same way, just like he treated Homelander. Steve describes his dad as a "Grade-A Asshole", which Benjamin obviously is.
"my douchebag dad is trying to teach me a lesson”
"It's a shame that I've missed so much. I wish I could've raised you and taught you, father to son."
Soldier Boy fought in World War II, just like Steve's grandfather was perceived to have done in an essay he wrote to apply for college. See Stranger Things S2 EP1: MAD MAX for reference. It's possible that Steve believed Benjamin was his grandfather at that time, when in reality - it was actually his father.
In flashbacks, it is shown that Soldier Boy is against drugs and is seen as publicly against them, with the reality being that he was an addict himself. This connects to the fact that when Steve was drugged by the Russians, he tells Dustin that he doesn't do drugs, only marijuana. This implies that Soldier Boy may have questioned his son's drug use at some point, when Steve was only just smoking.
"How many times, dad. I don't do drugs. It's only marijuana"
"Real heroes don't do drugs"
"If taking drugs is uncool, I must be the most uncool motherfucker in the planet!"
Soldier Boy fought against the Soviets during the cold war just like Steve dealt with Russians in season three. Benjamin was also experimented on and held captive for years by the Russians, just like when Steve was tortured by the Russians in the underground base.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soldier Boy was around during the 1980s, the decade which Stranger Things was set in so it could be possible he was around for him during that time. Steve was born in 1966, a decade where Soldier Boy had performing several black ops missions for the U.S. Government. It could be possible that Benjamin could have happened to have been in Hawkins, Indiana and may have had a secret child during that time. I'm unsure as to who the mother could be, so that can remain a mystery for now.
In the show, Soldier Boy is perceived to be a spoiled brat and is a douchebag who treats others cruelly for most of season three. Steve had been privileged to a spoiled life due to growing up in a wealthy household, being a douchebag just like his father for most of season 1. This could fit in with Steve trying to follow in his father's footsteps, using the fact that his father is a superhero to attain popular status at school. It's possible that Steve could be aware of Benjamin's superhero status and was brushed off to the side by his father as he had a lack of care for him. The justification for people not mentioning Soldier Boy or any other superhero that exists is because it's a small town and I'm sure no one gives a shit about superheroes at that time. Steve having a redemption arc in later seasons is in contrast with his father, who doesn't change and remains a douchebag.
"Everything that people tell you is important. Everything that people say you should care about. It's all just bullshit. But I guess, you gotta mess up to figure things out, right?"
"Maybe if I'd raised you I could've made you better. And not some weak, sniveling p*ssy, starved for attention. But there's no fixing that now."
I know this is a stretch/quite left field, but this is only my personal headcanon. What are your thoughts on this? I have watched Stranger Things but not the Boys, so tell me if the facts about Soldier Boy here are correct. I got a lot of hate for this the last time I posted it, so be kind and friendly when you see this post. Thank you.
