Why is Dean so stressed in 14x17?

Dean is so stressed out that not only do Mary and Jack notice, but they're taking actions to calm him down/cheer him up
Sam prooooobably knows why Dean is unhinged, so he quickly volunteers to get outta Dodge and pick up the food. (I feel ya, Sammy. You are me in this moment.)
Meanwhile, Dean struggles to win Mouse Trap. We get a closeup of the foot kicking the "audience" eye. NOTE that in the actual game, it's just a plain silver ball.
Or at least that's how I remember it and have always seen it. If anyone know of a version that was released with an eye, hit me up.
Otherwise I'm gonna assume it was completely intentional, and Dean is trying to have a normal family game night without "us" interfering.

He's, uh, wound pretty tightly today, actually.
We can see that from Jack and Mary's following convo. Seems like today, they're the ones tag-teaming to mollify Dean.
(Dean, who is stressed because Cas is AWOL and acting cagey and probably not answering his phone again.)
JACK: "I thought this was supposed to relax him."
Ahahaha, oh Mary. "Let's give Dean a little game and he'll relaxies and be nicies to us!"
Oh yea.
Cas definitely isn't answering his phone, and everyone is tiptoeing around Dean because of it.

Tragedy: Jack & Mary get along really well!
Just gonna point out that Jack is actually VERY comfortable with her in general.
He spent MONTHS with her at war. She was his advisor. Given that he ran away from TFW a few weeks after his birth, much of his formative parenting was done by Mary Campbell Winchester, not Sam and Dean (nor Cas)!
She checks in with Jack, but she doesn't push. Result? Genuine, blunt Jack emotions:
(MARY is thinking "FUCK, first my oldest son is acting like a basket-case and screaming at a toddler's game and now my grandson is acting like this. FML. Cas, come home now. Plz for the love of all that is holy.")
Tragically, because of the trust and comradery between them, Mary offers something the others don't: permission to vent.
(MARY: Jack, if you wanna talk shit about everyone, I love shit-talk. )
Funnily enough, Mary doesn't use a lot of words here. It's a partially silent communication. "If you ever wanna vent..." (gentle head tilt like, 'y'know.')
JACK: You're here. I know. (silent appreciative looks, then Jack makes a head motion like 'c'mon let's go').
And ACTUALLY.
Jack reacts genuinely well to that. He and Mary...get each other. He feels comfortable telling her what he really thinks.
See, I think this emotional permissiveness that we see with Mary is devastating. Jack tends to get more genuinely irritable and say what he thinks with Mary (also Dean n' Cas). Even when he's soulless and working hard to "perform" soulfulness, his real irritation slips out with her.
Tragically, that means she was probably always more risk with Jack. Because he's more comfortable throwing his real, ugly emotions at them.
(Sam on the other hand is more cerebral and perhaps at times...unintentionally distant because it's all so eloquent, careful, scripted.)

DEAN: (swallowing his nerves and trying to be cheerful and teasing) All right! Winchester game night is a go! Soon as Sammy gets back with two double-pepperoni meat blasters...and a pineapple.
Jack seems appreciative of the banter here. He doesn't wanna be pushed right now.

Dean is weird when Sam doesn't pick up his phone right away
When Donatello lands in Nick-shaped peril, Dean tries to call Sam. ONCE. And it gets an...out-of-proportion reaction from Dean.
(It's also...a lot like John's voicemail in Phantom Traveler. "This is John Winchester. I can't be reached. If this is an emergency, call my son, Dean. He can help.")
He's prickly:
SAM: "You've reached Sam Winchester. If this is an emergency, call my brother."
DEAN: Sam's not answering his phone. This whole damn town's a dead zone.
That's...not exactly true, as least what we've see so far in the series? They make calls from the bunker a lot.
*coughs* This lends some credence to the fact that his prior stress (the stress that Jack and Mary were working together to help) is about his, uh, phone. Phone calls. Phone calls not being answered, even.
READ: This is about Cas. Who hasn't been answering his phone. And Dean? Dean rationalizes that maybe his calls aren't landing because of where he is.

There's some truth to Dean's woes/anxiety. When Cas leaves, bad things tend to happen. And hey, they happen when Cas is there too, sure, but with Cas there, Dean can't help but feel more resilient, more equipped to take on whatever-it-is.

But yeah, it's looking like Dean and Cas maybe already had a little, reserved/restrained fight prior to Jack killing Mary. Dean was acting...really weird. Forced.

Did sid and tatum know about billy and stu, or at least have any suspicions? ESPECIALLY THE MOVIE BATHROOM SCENE like surely one of them noticed how long they were gone and along with all the other gay shit and started to suspect something queer was going on
I think Tatum knows there's something up, like Stu is so obviously and openly into Billy it would be hard to ignore that as his girlfriend. He constantly sides with Billy, chooses him over pretty much everything else.
Honestly with Sid I see her as pretty checked out after her moms death, I don't really think she's all that present with Billy when they spend time together, and I think Tatum is also focused on her and making sure she's ok. Like the only reason they get away with the bathroom hookup during The Craft is that their girlfriends are also more focused on each other than they are on their boyfriends.
I truly think Tatum likes Stu and has fun with him, but from the conversations she has with Sid (like convo in the grocery store) I don't think she sees him as a life partner, and I doubt she expects them to stay together when they go to college the next year. I think if Stu straight up told her he was in love with Billy she would think he had bad taste but I don't think she would be devastated or even all that surprised.
Id say Sid also knows there's vibes happening, especially from the way she talks to them at the end of the movie and the queer-coded insults she directs at Billy specifically. After their behaviour in the kitchen I feel like you would need to be completely oblivious not to see that something is going on.
That said, with her I think she's kind of existing in a trauma fog through the movie, basically until the end when she snaps and starts fighting back, I think it's this moment of her seeing Billy clearly, instead of seeing him through her guilt and loss. So I don't think she necessarily put it together before the end of the movie but I think it was sort of hanging out in the back of her mind.
The other factor here is that queerness only really came into mainstream cultural awareness in the 90's. There wasn't much open or explicit gay shit happening in media, so I think it's also not something people would be reading into other peoples behaviour as quickly as we do now, which is how I think they get away with as much as they do. They're just boy best friends, right? And to the outside world Billy seems mostly annoyed with Stu. Even now, in 2023 people on twitter are reading these dudes as straight. Wild.

Suresh audaciously runs down the slide and dives through the sand tunnel. He leaps the grassy obstacle, scissor kicking a flying water balloon as he does. You notice his soaked abs glisten in the sunlight.
The winner of the boys is Suresh, winner of the girls is MC. You go on a double date with your partners.
You go for a bit of a cheeky snog with Alfie/Dana.
Suresh catches you and there's a lot of sexual tension, it's kinda hot. Sneaky sneaky. He tells you he's wearing the black shirt you got him for Valentine's day on your date, and tells you to wear that black dress.
You can literally pour a smoothie over him ahahhahhahahahahaha

Kat turns around and Finn spelled out SOZ with candles omfg who is the comedian on the writing team, I'm fucking dying of laughter here, this is the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life bar none.

You go to the LI first, . If you stay on the daybeds it kinda stays light-hearted, but if you go to the living room it gets super melty and cute. Either way though, they tell you they're all in for you. Want to take you home and meet the family, etc. (Baby, we are half way through. We haven't even been to Casa yet, baby is gonna get their heart broken omg.)
Suresh then pulls you aside. Here we go.
Suresh fidgets, for the first time showing a flash of vulnerability.

*Gem Option* - Another dare. Kat dares you to do a sexy belly dance balancing an object on your head. You do it successfully and everyone gets pretty excited about it but nothing actually happens other than Eddie saying it turned him on.
8th - Finn - Picks DARE
No choice. You tell him to kiss the girl he finds the most attractive. Arlo tells him to strip for her.
Finn walks up to Arlo and snogs her, throwing in a bit of a striptease.
Kat gets genuinely fucking hurt by it (as she should, wtf dude.) But everyone starts laughing telling her to chill out.
KAT: Finn making a fool out of me is a good laugh is it?
KAT: Somebody being made a fool of is a joke to you guys?
DANA: It’s not that Kat, it’s just that Finn can’t help but be funny.

Everyone turns to look at you. You feel your body tense awkwardly.
KAT: How about you tell Alfie what a fool he is?

There is absolute silence around the firepit.

Arlo storms off. Alfie/Dana storms off. Kat storms off.

And then....

After looking all over the villa, you decide to head up to the terrace in hopes of finding Alfie and explaining everything. It’s time to get some stuff off your chest. Time to set everything right. You arrive on the terrace and are stunned into silence.
You find Alfie and Kat kissing each other.
PLAYER: Alfie?! Kat?!
Note: If you're on a Dana route, she's kissing Eddie.
🤍Episode 25 - DRAMA CENTRAL
Excuse me while I go fuck myself, apparently.
You run into Finn, and he's like hahaha yeah nah, that would never happen. But Alfie's like omg I'm so sorry. After everything you just fucking spurted, about falling for us, why you little...
Finn still thinks it's a prank.
It is, just to be clear, not a fucking prank.
They really fucking just Cherrygated us.
Finn is now extremely pissed.
Kat & Alfie are both angry as fuck that MC and Finn are pissed off about it.
There's an extremely loud argument about who kissed who, with both of them claiming the other initiated it.
Somehow, regardless of what you did or didn't do with Suresh, you end up the bad guy. Alfie's all "What matters is you cracking on with that cheating ex of yours" and "Save me the details" and "I can't be around you right now" Um ex-fucking-cuse me?
Alfie storms off (Bye Felicia)
Kat blames you for everything, saying it was your idea to dare Finn to kiss someone. You can take the blame (um no.) or Blame someone else, but regardless, nothing happens.
Note: If you're on a Dana route, she kisses Eddie and admits that she initiated it.
You're hiding from everything on the roof terrace and Suresh comes to check on you, admitting that it would've hurt more because of what happened in the past between the two of you.
He reveals he came to LI to give you closure, and because he needed it as well. He was going to come on, apologise, answer questions, and then leave.
She asks what happened, and Suresh is all "I looked into your eyes, and I knew straight away I couldn't give up on you. I had to stay and take a shot at winning you back."
Suresh says he wants you back, and says you have to give him an answer tonight.
Finn pulls you aside, and says he's seeing everything in a different light. He wants you. But before you can give him an answer, the girls pull you aside for drama management
The girls force you to pick between Alfie and Suresh. But when you go to find whichever one you picked....

Zeke is my favourite fictional character. He's just so... fascinating. He's initially presented as weird and mysterious but he turns out to be a giant dork and a huge loser with the most severe daddy issues I've ever seen.
I love him so much. Here's a very long ramble that's kinda sorta a character analysis (it's bad though).
He gives off Reddit mod energy (then again, Eren has Discord mod energy (disclaimer: I love Eren too)), has the sense of humour of a 12 year old, hangs around people who are quite a bit younger than him (granted, his only other option is creepy old military men), has smoked since he was probably like 15 and spends his life "pretending" to be stupid.
And yet he genuinely cares about other people in his own way. He really did just want to make it so that Eldians didn't have to suffer. He assumed that because he had a shit life and was treated terribly (as were his parents), everyone else was in the same boat. It never occured to him that other Eldians were happy, because, like, why would they be?
He's willing to go to the ends of the earth and beyond to fulfill his mission, which he's held on to since he was a teenager. Even though Ksaver did plant the seeds for Zeke, Zeke came up with his plan himself. Ksaver never mentioned anything about reproduction, just that the Founder could be used to alter Eldian biology.
He's devasted when Eren goes "lol jk bro" and betrays him, because he finally found someone he thought he could trust (his first mistake was trusting Eren of all people). He couldn't understand why Eren went against his plan, or what Eren was even trying to accomplish in the first place.
Also, I think it's worth mentioning that Zeke's euthanasia plan undermines everything Ymir Fritz went through. She suffered severely, but I like to imagine that she really did love her daughters to the best of her ability. Zeke saying that Eldians would be better off not existing in the first place and that he's going to get rid of them is telling Ymir Fritz that all her suffering was for absolutely fucking nothing. Whereas Eren wants Eldians to live on, because that way, Ymir can be freed, and she can see that there is beauty in the world (which she did via Mikasa, as badly explained as it was lol).
Zeke never saw that beauty. He was brainwashed and abused and taken advantage of his entire life. By his parents, by Marley (yes, even Ksaver), and, later, by Eren. To him, there was nothing redeeming about the world.
Hence his final line where he talks about what a lovely day it is and how nice/clear the sky is, but that it ultimately is too late to realise that (? I haven't read the chapter in a while, I don't remember the exact wording). That's him acknowledging that he was wrong about the world lacking beauty.
Yes, Ksaver did care for him and did love him, but he did also use Zeke for his own gain. He was projecting his son onto Zeke, as he said so himself in canon, and he was also hoping that Zeke could accomplish what he (Ksaver) wasn't able to. Zeke may not have been as determined to save the Eldians (in his own way) if he hadn't spent time with Ksaver.
Zeke and Eren are fascinating to me, because Eren threw away his humanity in order to save the world/his loved ones, yet was very upset that he had to do so (given his paths convo with Armin), yet Zeke... was stripped of most of his humanity before he had a chance to even embrace it. My personal interpretation is that he never realised he was lacking humanity (which is something Levi kept trying to point out, especially in the forest with reminding Zeke about his Rakago crime) because death and killing were so normalised to him (and to him, his enemies weren't human because they were mostly Eldians and he, as an Eldian, wasn't considered human -- or at least he may have used that as a justification for his actions), and it wasn't until the very end that it hit him.
Lastly, part of why I love the dynamic between Zeke and Levi is that they're two sides of the same coin. They're both admired and feared by people (for different reasons), are traumatised in every possible way, and are similar yet also very different.
When they're interacting, neither of them give a shit about the other's status or powers or whatever. They fight like equals on par with each other and don't hold back. Warchief Zeke? Captain Levi? Nope. They're just Zeke and Levi to each other. (And they'd be friends if they were on the same side, maybe.)
ANYWAY Zeke Yeager is a great character and I love my monkeyman so much. He had such good character development and his backstory is really well done. The "I love you, Zeke" paths scene is my favourite since in all of SnK just for how much that means for both Grisha and Zeke.

I'm so distrustful of both Ben and Chopper from Never Let Me Go, but I'm also so devastated for them. Chopper's unrequited love and unsaid longing, which I suspect Ben has at least a little inkling of (I may be wrong though) because Ben seems quite intelligent to me. He is slightly manipulative too and also gaslights (for example his convo with Palm). Ben is definitely an interesting character. And then the way Chopper described Ben to Nueng, it's just all so intriguing! Chopper appears to be a really nice guy so far, I would go to say under the circumstances he seems kinda "too nice". But then sometimes, it's juxtaposed with that blank expression like when he shoots after Nueng leaves at the shooting range, giving him quite the antagonist vibe. But I don't know really if he is truly the bad guy or just the anti-hero. Although all of this is just adding to the fun, I guess! And lastly, I never thought Perth and Chimon would work, but surprisingly I am completely invested in their pairing.
Bonus, their superior acting skills clearly don't hurt the story.
I don't think Chopper is the bad guy at all, honestly. I think he's a good guy stuck in a bad situation and with a lot of bad influences around him and a lot to deal with.
Ben, I suppose I'm not totally sure about. But I think Ben is more... manipulative sunshine to cover a lot of pain rather than manipulative for the sake of manipulative. Those are different things.
I think Ben genuinely likes and loves Nueng. I think he genuinely wants to date him and his actions towards Palm are the same as Nueng's outbursts, manipulation from pain and from fear and from a need to be the first one in Nueng's heart.
I genuinely think they're both, in their hearts, good people who are caught in circumstances beyond their own control and that are breaking their own hearts in ways they can't stop.
Chopper is supporting Ben but he's tearing himself apart. Ben is trying to push Palm down because he wants that spot at Nueng's side.
I think Ben is unloved at home, rejected for who he is and pushed down by the people who should be lifting him up instead and so he clings to the idea of Nueng returning his love... only for that to be destroyed by his father (as we can see next episode).
I think they might end up in a more antagonistic role but not by their own choice but rather by the force of their fathers pushing them down and pushing them there, into a role they don't want and can't sustain.
I think Chopper now views Nueng as a love rival rather than just a cousin. It's not about being too nice, it's about realizing that the person he loves loves someone else and that he knows that someone else. It's the same way, again, that Nueng had the whole outburst with Palm flirting.
Chopper is a strange mix of Nueng and Palm, honestly, supportive outwardly but absolutely being torn apart internally by jealousy and a desperate yearning for love that he doesn't know how to express.
While Ben found the courage to confess but is now going to have that ripped away from him by his father.
There's a lot going on here and a lot of it is going to get complicated and I really wonder where they're going to go with the multiple layers of relationships.

i don't hate the story they're telling through the flashbacks, i just hate how it's executed. i can see why they're doing it this way, so we're not actively suffering through the separation, it already happened. and the people want sam and dean together. but avoiding separating them has also made this really clunky and drag out by chopping it up and sprinkling it over so many episodes
anyway, resurrecting amelia's not-actually-dead husband certainly gives us all a guilt-free out of this whole fucking situation

I just wanted you to know that theres someone out there who's super super super DUPER proud of you and all the work you've put into managing your PTSD- Feeling constant overwhelming anxiety helped me understand a little of what you must be going through, I can't imagine how stressful your day to day life is and I'm feeling overwhelmed rn! Hi sweetheart. I'm so sorry to hear that you have gone through a relationship so devastating that it left this much of an impact on you. My heart goes out to you, it's not fun, to say the least, it is a really horrible time and it's especially difficult (in my opinion) when it's repetitive actions from someone you trusted... it's like an extra layer of betrayal on top of everything else. I'm so sorry. I know how badly that hurts.
My response is kind of long so I'm gonna put it under a readmore for ya:
I am so touched that you thought of me, and even more touched that you took the time out of your day to tell me that you thought of me. I hope you don't mind it took me a few days to finally crack open my inbox. I reread this a few times because it really warmed my heart. Thank you for being proud of me. I'm so proud of you, too. I'm so happy you've (I'm assuming, hoping, praying) gotten out of the relationship, or in the very least I'm reassured that you've realized how unhealthy the relationship was for you and you can take the steps to overcome and heal from it now. It's SO HARD getting out of relationships, but nobody else can do it for you, it's always you who has to take those steps, and I'm so proud of you for pushing yourself to take those steps!!!! I know it isn't easy!!!!! I think one of the loneliest feelings in the world is knowing that you're in an unhealthy friendship/relationship with someone and you can literally feel this person draining your energy and making you feel hopeless and worthless and numb. I have never felt more empty than when I was trapped in an emotionally abusive relationship/friendship. It's awful. Getting out of that kind of situation is so difficult, so I am so damn proud of you for recognizing that you deserve better!!! Because you do!!! You deserve the whole world and I'm sorry somebody didn't give you the respect you deserved. It's not your fault. Nothing you went through is your fault at all, and I'll say that as many times as you want to hear it.
I completely hear you on the stress side of things -- thank you for empathizing with me. My God, isn't it the fucking worst? The constant stress?? One day you will wake up and the person who traumatized you, the events that traumatized you, will NOT be the very first thing popping into your head. One day you'll be able to sit down and eat a sandwich and think to yourself "oh I just went 20 whole seconds without thinking about it". One day you'll be tying your shoe and thinking "oh I think i just went five whole minutes without thinking about it!" slowly, gradually, you will have healed so much, you will look back and think "oh. I'm... so much better than I was."
I actually had this revelation a few weeks ago, I sat down making comics, and then I thought to myself... "...oh... I don't think I thought about my abuser... at all... when a trigger was right in front of my face... for a solid two minutes." I saw a gifset where Margot Robbie was wearing an article of clothing that normally triggers me into a panic attack, but I just kept looking at Margot and thinking "hehehe that's my Barbie!!! <3" and then i realized the trigger was right in front of my face but I was so focused on being gay asf I didn't even realize the trigger was there. And then when I noticed it, my body was like "oh. time to panic" but I managed to push away those feelings and say "nope. nope. that's Barbie. and Barbie is safe. and everything is ok!!!" And two minutes of handling a certain trigger may not seem like a long time, at first... but when you're constantly overwhelmed every single second of every single day... two minutes looks like a blessing. and one day you won't even have to count the minutes anymore. you'll just exist and the misery will only be momentary.
But aside from triggers, now, just in general, I am at a point where I can go hours without remembering my abuser or the events that gave me literally DOZENS of triggers in the first place. Flashbacks are rare, when they used to be constant. I'm not as jittery as I used to be, I'm not as... uh, feeling like I'm going out of my mind, I don't know how else to phrase it, but the anxiety that ptsd gives you literally makes you feel like you're losing your sense of self, and I promise you that feeling goes away with time. I promise you it gets better. I didn't have a support system during my time of need, so my healing process is taking much longer than it would have, so I am hopeful that your healing process is actually going much speedier than mine, even if our circumstances may not be exactly the same ofc but just hearing that you have a therapist helping you out with this is absolutely wonderful. Therapy is so important, paired with self care.
I'm so proud of you anon. I'm so sorry you're going through this and ahhh sorry I'm scatterbrained, it's been a long day and my brain cells are on fire, but!!! Who do you think is Sophie’s father? The only clue that was explicitly stated was that her parents do not know each other. The other two were never explicitly stated in the text, so we know that her parents do not know each other and one of the two of them does not have the same abilities as her. The final clue was never explicitly suggested, only alluded too, but Sophie’s parents do not resemble her because of the alternations they did to her DNA. This disqualifies any male that knows Oralie (ie. Kenric), any male that looks like her (ie. Tiergan, Gethen, Cassius) and any that have similar abilities to her (ie. Prentice Endal, Quinlin Sonden, Counsellor Emery). So that disqualifies most of the male population of the Lost Cities that we were introduced to (perhaps he will be a character we have never met), a human or Fintan. Fintan is the most likely option, as he is a pyrokinetic. Me. Forkle said that they made sure that Sophie would never manifest as one. The simplest way to make sure of this is to use the DNA of a person that has the ability, so they can remove it before it manifests in Sophie.
I've spoken on several theories before so there are several linked in my (severely out of date) masterposts, but I've generally come to the same conclusions: Gethen and Tiergan are two of my top guesses, though Fintan is up there as well.
This does not factor in the "Sophie's parents do not resemble her" clue, as I frankly don't remember when that was ever alluded to. if it's there, someone will need to remind me. Oralie looks similar enough to Sophie--pale skin, blond hair--and Prentice's skin tone is notably a mark against him being her father (shown in the Legacy convo with Wylie where they joked about it) that I think it's reasonable to assume basic resemblance.
A not insignificant portion of my reasoning stems from the apparent world-shattering status their identity alludes to and the fact that this is a novel. Perhaps it would make sense in-universe for her father to be someone she's never met, but we've been building up to it for ten books and part of the point is the story; it'd be quite the let down if ten books later it was someone random.
So then my thoughts are that it'd have to be someone that would hurt Sophie to discover. The two main ways I see that happening is if it was someone she trusted, or someone she hated.
Tiergan, for example, is someone known to be elusive who she trusts dearly. He works with the Black Swan and could reasonably be willing to participate in Project Moonlark. He's always been one of her strongest supporters from the beginning, similar to Oralie's supportive role on the council. It would devastate her to learn what he kept from her for so long--but then again, we've already done the betrayed trust route.
Gethen, on the other hand, would be devastating for his associations. It would raise so many questions for everyone involved--how could Mr. Forkle ask him? Does this make her a worse person? What does it mean for her? She feel like a fool, this person, her enemy holding this information above her. It doies raise some questions about logistics and how it would work, but I'm sure it could be reasoned out. Was with the Black Swan and defected, joined as a double agent, something else, etc.
They both have telepathy and are blond though, which helps. I know Lady Cadence suggested her parents have different abilities than her and Oralie is an empath, but given just how crucial her telepathy is and the knowledge that empaths and telepaths are frequently paired, I hesitate to let go of abilities entirely when theorizing.
I have thought about the Fintan thing before though and came to that conclusion as well, so I'm not sure where to fit it in to my current theories. My primary thought against it is that Fintan is already important in the story for other reasons; he's served his purpose, or at least most of it. Bringing him back to be her father feels as though it would undermine some of the rest of him, but then again, maybe not. Gethen, on the other hand, hasn't had a significant role yet has been present from the beginning and consistently reappeared. Sophie even mentioned thinking there's more to him they should focus on in Unlocked. I think being her father would give him a solid purpose, as he's one of or the last of the beginning antagonists to be left unexpored (unless I'm forgetting someone).
All that to say that at the moment I'm leaning towards Gethen, but am also entirely aware that there's a lot more that can be considered and other conclusions to come to. I suppose I'll just have to wait another year to learn what comes next!

just to offer a different opinion to the other anon who thought doc was gaslighting joel about the whole tommy situation…. we have to remember that they weren’t just regular broken up exes like they were when joel broke up w her pre-outbreak. he straight up hated her (or at least acted like he did) and told her multiple times that he wished he never met her and never wanted to see her again. in my mind, that behavior dissolves any and all claim you have over someone, even to those who would normally be off-limits (i.e. family members). doc was absolutely in the right in that conversation imo. honestly, joel should be on his knees thanking doc for even looking in his general direction atp after the way he treated her all those years.
i get it that dating the family members of exes is weird (and if doc and tommy got together in an AU where the outbreak didn’t happen and sarah didn’t die, i would be more on joel’s side) but in this universe, with the way joel treated her, honestly he has zero right to be mad at her for anything (though i get why he was, bc the real emotion behind his outburst was probably just jealousy and anger at himself for not getting his shit together sooner). that’s my take on it 🤷🏻♀️

This is a little more in line with how I approached the Doc/Tommy relationship from a writing perspective (which doesn't necessarily mean it's the right interpretation! However it came off to you is right for you!)
Another part of this, Doc is so fucking wrecked by EVERYTHING with the outbreak and Joel and really only has Andrew to rely on for support and Andrew had Jess. Doc didn't want to pull him away from the life he was making for himself by bogging him down in her shit. She was lonely and just a very broken person - she couldn't even come around to the idea of trying to date someone after Joel she was so devastated by him and she internalized all of it because she had no outlet. Tommy knew all of these really devastating things so she wouldn't need to explain it, was kind to her, wanted her and was so willing to go along with whatever she needed that he felt supremely safe.
Even if Joel was THAT cruel to her in a breakup in a no-outbreak scenario, she wouldn't have dated Tommy because she wouldn't have been so fragile. She would have had support (Cass, Louisa), she wouldn't have survived everything she had to get to that point so she wouldn't have the same trauma. Tommy would have been totally off the table, even if he put the moves on her. It'd have taken her a while but she'd have found a Derek or a Brad on her own within a few months and kinda-sorta moved on. At least to the extent of having a somewhat fulfilling relationship with him if not being head over heels in love with him. The Tommy/Doc situation was one that came about only because everyone was so fucked up from trauma and Joel's reaction to it was to lash out to force distance between him and the person he loved most and Doc's was to self destruct.
All that being said, I don't blame Joel for being pissed about it. Especially since he directs his anger at Tommy and not Doc. I think he understands how much he hurt Doc (not that he wants to think about that, he'd much rather dodge that thought as much as possible) but he's like "WTF Tommy I didn't do anything to you fuck you."
ANYWAY! That's part of my thesis on the Joel/Doc/Tommy situation lmfao I could talk about this all day because there were LAYERS to me planning out that relationship lol LAYERS Y'ALL

Those Who Must Be Kept: choose your least favourite book and list things you'd correct about it
So I've already answered this but there are a lot of bad books so I can do it again. I will repeat my last preface by saying there are VC books I refuse to read which count as my ACTUAL least favorite. But for here I'm going to talk about the ones I have read.
Pandora, kind of a VC book kind of not but for this ask it is and it sucked. I was so excited bc a) I liked Pandora b) First (and only) book in the series narrated by a woman and c) a 2 thousand year old vampire! This is going to be a sweeping epic!
That last point is the one that disappointed me the most. This book is almost exclusively about the time where Pandora got turned. She was alive for 30 years and you miss lots of that, she was married which for most ppl is a big deal but is barely a blip in the story. And then the story ONLY focuses on her time with Marius, once Pandora is on her own she just goes "and I traveled a lot and was unhappy :(". Because of this even like Roman history, not even accurately (according to @licncourt) or well depicted. If I am reading historical fiction I want an "on the street view" of historical events. How people heard about things, how they reacted or what they did. Pandora often stops her narrative to tell you the history of some Roman emperor or something which sounds just like a slightly more personal version of a googled article. I don't want history summarized to me, I want it shown. It's really just boring.
Which brings me to point b, if a story of a woman only revolves around a male love interest, and it's not a romance, let's just say you've lost my interest.
And finally A, Pandora was a lot more boring in her own book than she sounded in QOTD. The book opens with a painfully long convo between her and David with David trying to convince her to let him write her life story and they mention that she has to drink from the heart of her victims and it's dangled in your face like the plot is going to explain why but it really never does. And she's so much more plain and just blah in Pandora than the mysterious vamp in QOTD who drinks from hearts and is for some reason devastated by Akasha's death.
So, there is a LOT, I would fix but first and foremost would be getting the whole story, if you are writing about the life of a 2k yr old vamp, commit to the bit, I want all 2k years. And don't make them all revolve around men who don't treat her right.

One shot idea: The crew in the immediate aftermath of batos injuries and departure for the nuns or bato and Zuko sharing scar care tips.
okay i chose to do the immediate aftermath after bato's injuries initially bc i haven't decided yet if bato and zuko having that convo is going to happen in taob yet, so if it does i don't want to like steal that from the main fic by using it in a one shot, but then i got to really looking deeper into some things said in ch1/general fashbacks and i realised something SUPER interesting; zuko has changed the crew just as much as they have changed him. so the quote that made me realise this was actually really not relevant at all, it's in ch1 and is just 'Hakoda was surprised the healer had joined them. He usually spent his free time with his nose in a book.' And while we know that kanut is still very prone to indulging in his alone time, it really stood out to me that it was very much a luxury that kanut had joined them this one time. and then i got thinking to all the little ways zuko's influence has changed each individual and brought them all closer and i think it's really clear in this one-shot and yeah i just had a lot of fun <3

Bato had been burnt before. He'd caught his hands while trying to help Kanna cook or he’d stood too close to the campfire after one too many drinking games with Aput. He knew the sensation.
But this... this was like nothing he’d ever felt before.
Fire raged its sharp hands up his arm, clawing over his shoulder, and all Bato could do was jump away from it, falling to the deck of the ship and staring stunned up at the sky as Chena tried to put the fire out. It was excruciating, in a way he didn’t think possible, like his entire body was still seized in flames, leaving him helpless to do anything but burn. Then the smell hit his nose, and Bato could only shove himself to his side with his good arm and retch.
That was the smell of his own flesh. That was the smell of his own flesh burning. It was not something he would ever forget.
Hakoda stood in the infirmary doorway like he was too scared to come in, watching with devastated eyes as Kanut peeled what was left of Bato’s ruined shirt away from the ugly red of his wound. Kanut was gentle – his gentleness was something that always amused Bato about his typically sharp friend – but his hands didn’t shake. Bato was grateful for that much, at least, because so far he’d felt nauseas every time he caught sight of Hakoda’s stricken expression. He didn’t know if he could handle similar treatment from Kanut.
“I shouldn’t have intercepted them.” Hakoda finally grit out, and Bato had been waiting for this. He loved his friend and had done for a very long time, but Hakoda’s honour-code was ridiculous.
“Last I checked,” Bato tried to make his voice light, but it came out strained, teeth gritting against Kanut’s prodding, “you do not have the skillset for manning an entire ship all by yourself. We intercepted. Together. This isn’t your fault.”
Hakoda considered that for exactly one whole moment before his face crumpled again.
“I’m the chief, Bato. I shouldn’t have been so reckless-.”
“Ugh,” Bato tipped his head back dramatically, groaning for good measure, “can you get rid of him, Kanut? He's giving me a headache. I'm the patient so you have to be nice to me.”
Strangely, Kanut obliged without even looking up from his work, and that’s when Bato began to realise that something was wrong.
“Don’t you have other things to be doing than moping in my doorway, Hakoda?” Kanut said bluntly. “This isn’t your fault. Bato has told you it isn’t and now I'm telling you it isn’t. Go away and make yourself useful. I am not above locking you out, Chief.”
The Angakkuq’s tone turned derisive on that last word, meaning made clear. You say you’re the chief, then act like one and get your shit together. Bato was a little grateful for Kanut, though he wouldn’t admit it. Hakoda was a nightmare to be around when he was worried. Genuinely insufferable. Bato's nerves couldn’t handle it. Especially not after recent traumatic events leaving him disfigured. Men and women everywhere would mourn the skin of Bato’s left bicep, once smooth and luxurious and now doomed to scar. This day was a tragedy. Tribesmen for generations to come would know of this crime. Fuck firebenders.
“You’re as bad as each other.” Kanut muttered, and Bato blinked to realise Hakoda had left after his scolding. Kanut flicked Bato’s head. “Stop moping.”
“He wishes he were as bad as me.” Bato muttered, before narrowing his eyes. “You kicked him out for a reason. Something's wrong.”
“I think a major injury made you chattier. Maybe I should give you a sedative.” Kanut said, like Bato was a particularly annoying bug invading his space, opting to entirely skip over something upsetting in typical Kanut fashion. Bato sighed. His friends were hopeless. Truly, they would never manage a day without him. They'd wind up doing something stupid, like trying to befriend a firebender, or some shit.
“Kanut.” Bato pressed, before wincing when he accidentally moved his shoulder. Pain seeped from him in waves, except the waves were made of knives and Bato might actually take up that offer of a sedative now. Kanut frowned, and Spirits, that was worry on his face. Bato's stomach dipped uncertainly. That could only mean...
“It’s bad, isn’t it? You can’t fix it.” Bato said, and Kanut reacted like he feared he would. Jaw clenching, gaze flicking to the side. Hakoda was open and easy, but it had taken Bato a long time to learn Kanut. Understanding the healer was like reading one of the books he loved so much. It took patience, a memory of previous events, an ability to join all the words together to make a sentence. Jaw clenching when he was uncomfortable and eyes flicking when he was scared. Kanut was one of Bato’s favourite books now, and he knew how this ended.
“Well, that’s that then.” Bato sighed, swallowing down the sudden urge to laugh. He felt near hysterical. Here was an injury that Kanut couldn’t fix. For so long, Bato’s friends had held the sky up for him. He'd never even considered that there was a chance it could crash down, but for a moment in that infirmary, Bato saw stars.
“No it’s not, dumbass.” Kanut flicked his head again, and Bato cried out at the sudden rough treatment. “The burn is serious. Third degree in the centre, easily. There are certain medicines I need to treat it, medicines we haven’t been able to restock since we lost the alliance with Fong, but Nanook told me about an abbey. You know that boy from the Colonies he made friends with when we sailed through? He told him that the nuns there are healers, advanced. They can treat you.”
Bato hated most of the words that had just come out of his best friend’s mouth, particularly the part that would see his other best friend having an absolute meltdown if he found out. Medicines we haven’t been able to restock since we lost the alliance with Fong. Hakoda already blamed himself for losing that alliance, and Bato couldn’t actually talk him out of that one. Hakoda had reached his limit with how much he was willing to tolerate from General Fong, and despite it being a bad move politically, he cut ties with the man. Bato had to respect the decision, even if he’d argued against it. General Fong was an asshole.
Hakoda, however, wouldn’t care about that if he found out that his decision had led to Bato being unable to get treatment. It was bad enough that Hakoda thought the injury was his fault already...
Bato felt sick, swallowing thickly. “We can’t-.”
“I know.” Kanut said quickly, and Bato relaxed a little more. At least they were on the same page with that. Hakoda couldn’t know.
“How bad of a detour would it be?” Bato asked timidly. He felt weak, exhausted, and everything hurt, but he had to know how much of a burden this would be on the crew.
“I’d have to talk to Nanook more, and then Tulok, but it doesn’t matter. It's the only thing that’ll save your sorry life. We're doing it.” Kanut said, already getting to his feet.
“There has to be another way.” Bato muttered.
“I’m smarter than you and I haven’t thought of one, so unless burning off skin cells suddenly led to a rapid reproduction of brain cells and you have somehow thought of something, then this is what we’re doing.” Kanut paused in the doorway. “Stop moping. It'll be fine.”
Bato did not stop moping. Not even as it was decided unanimously amongst the crew that they would reroute, sailing straight past Chameleon Bay and heading towards the Mo Ce Sea, and then Bato was watching his friends leave him behind, and he began moping even harder.
This was going to be an incredibly shit next few weeks.
Hakoda and Kanut were going to get into so much trouble without him.

“This is shit.” Chena decided, arms crossed over his large chest as he watched – note: watched, not helped – as Aput caulked the deck. Aput had been putting this off since the Fire Nation attack that saw Bato have to separate from them, but he had to start fixing the damage sooner or later. Though, having said that, he’d only done the tiniest corner of the deck so far, and he took Chena’s sudden conversation as an excuse to lean back on his heels for a break.
“Anything in particular or are you just being generally pessimistic again?” Aput asked politely. Tulok, who was sat cross-legged just shy of the area Aput was caulking, raised an eyebrow in curiosity. Tulok actually had offered to help, but Aput hadn’t let him. It was the principal of the thing, not that a thug like Chena would get that.
“The way everyone’s been.” Chena said gruffly, and Aput realised his friend was actually annoyed about something serious. It was hard to tell when Chena scowled so much. “Hakoda’s gone all pedantic. You know he checked I'd sharpened the weapons well enough twice yesterday? Fucking twice, as if I've not been doing it ever since we left the fucking village. And it’s like the rest of us are just not talking about something. We're all walking around like someone’s died, for Spirit’s sake! Bato's fine. He'll be fine. Shit, even the kids have gone more into themselves. Look at them!” Chena jerked his head up to where Tomkin and Nanook were sat up in the crow’s nest.
“You could stand to be more delicate about it.” Tulok said quietly, expression darkening at the mention of Bato.
“And you.” Chena hissed, turning his frustration onto Tulok. Aput really wished the other man had just kept his mouth shut. “You’ve been acting weird since it happened too. The fuck’s going on, Tulok?”
Tulok looked like he’d been cornered all of a sudden, like Chena and Aput’s expectant stares were enemies threatening him. Aput had noticed Tulok’s behaviour too. He was the quietest of their trio, but since Bato's injury, he’d been even quieter. Aput had caught him staring at his hands, lost in thought, more than once.
“One of the soldiers,” Tulok said carefully, “that attacked the ship died. Aput, you killed him. We pushed his body into the ocean after. It's... The water’s no burial for a firebender.”
Aput turned rigid, breath holding in his throat. The fight had been a chaos of blades and burning, quick movements and pure instinct, but Aput knew who Tulok was talking about. He'd buried his machete into the chest of a soldier, kicking his body away from him when he began to fall. He'd thought about it since, but only to consider how it had felt, the resisitance of bones, the sound of blood choking up the man’s throat. Aput had defended himself and his friends, and the soldier was Fire Nation; he didn’t feel guilty. But they had had this conversation with Tulok before. He had never quite gotten used to the horrors of war, not like the others had been forced to. He was too soft, he thought too hard. He knew what he had to do and he was willing to do it, but while the rest of them kept their sanity by driving it from their minds once the deed was done, Tulok lingered on it. Aput tried to understand, but all he saw was his friend tormenting himself.
Chena though... Chena didn’t understand, and he didn’t want to. The topic made him blind with rage every time, and now, Aput waited for it to hit shore.
“Are you fucking serious? You’ve been acting weird because you feel bad for some ashmaker? I’m sorry, Tulok, did you want us to stop the fight so we could send him off with a little prayer? Maybe wish him peace after a lifetime of wanting our people dead? Spirits, we are at war. We are at war because of them.”
“I’m scared of becoming as bad as them, that’s all.” Tulok said. He spoke so quietly, but he stared Chena down, and that was a feat in itself.
“Come on, let’s not do this.” Aput pleaded, getting between the two. “Please. It's too soon after Bato. We're all a bit out of it still. We just need some breathing room.”
Aput kicked Chena’s ankle, playful but still hard enough to try and say ‘not today'. Chena looked furious, but Tulok was not easy to argue with. He tended to just shut down, keeping things to himself in the future, and Chena knew that. He growled in frustration before storming off.
Aput sighed, and Tulok stared out at the ocean with a certain sadness in his eyes.

One thing no one talked about when it came to sailing through a warzone was that it was actually, for the most part, excruciatingly boring, until it wasn’t, and then it was terrifying, but it was mostly boring. Day after day of ocean surrounding them, doing the same chores with the same people, passing the time with the same games. Surprisingly, Nanook was always more vocal about his boredom than Tomkin, because the youngest crewman hadn’t forgotten how hard he fought to join them on this endeavour, and he certainly wouldn’t forget it to something like boredom. Today, him and Nanook were sat up in the crow’s nest, staring out at the endless blue that cupped their small ship. Nanook kicked his feet against the mainmast, sighing deeply.
“This is... peaceful.” Tomkin tried. It sounded more like a complaint.
“Bored.” Nanook said, and Tomkin deflated, forehead thunking to the wood in dejected agreement. A few moments passed in silence, before Tomkin perked up suddenly, grinning at Nanook.
“The rum stash-.”
“No.”
“But now’s the perfect time to do it!” Tomkin whined. “Everyone’s been distracted since Bato left. Come on, Nan.”
“Are you actually trying to take advantage of the Bato situation? Is that what this is?” Nanook asked, feigning bewilderment, but he wasn’t actually surprised. This was very normal behaviour for Tomkin, who habitually used his status as an orphan as a way to get out of chores.
Tomkin groaned. “Don’t call it ‘the Bato situation’, he’d love that.”
“You’re horrible.” Nanook snickered, knocking his shoulder against Tomkin’s. “I need new friends. Maybe less boring ones. Spirits, if you’re listening,” he tipped his head back to the sound of Tomkin’s squawk of offence, talking to the sky, “I need someone to be my friend. Someone interesting. Oh, like a bender! Maybe send me a bender. The nicest one you have.”
They laughed together at the ridiculousness of it, and a few days later, there was a firebender in the infirmary.
#yes that was a lilo and stitch reference at the end#nanook shouldve kept his mouth SHUT#but yeah i think it's super sweet seeing how different they all are now#like some of it is just seeing more of the war and in tom nook's case growing up a little#but a LOT of it was zuko#chena used to be a lot more close-minded and if u think he's quick tempered now just remember what he used to be like#and tulok always had this Issue but didn't really have any way of communicating it#like there's a lot of miscommunication between tulok and chena and aput doesn't get it either#and it took zuko for tulok to really untangle his thoughts#and then there's kanut just being super prickly and he wouldn't really leave the infirmary much#so chena aput and tulok's trio and also tom nook shows quite a big border if that makes sense#like they're all grouped off but zuko gave them this common enemy almost#literally they bonded over chatting shit about him and now we have this#ALSO even hakoda's fucked up relationship with responsibility! it's not something he's ever been able to talk about before#because while his friends would listen they aren't actually in a leadership role#whereas zuko was raised for that and had it forced upon him#idk i just think it's neat that they've all made each other grow not just the crew helping zuko#<333#taob one-shots#taob#this one doesn't really have much direction/point to it but character-wise i think it's very interesting so suck it up <3

I’m rewatching Walking Dead after stopping back in season 5. I loved everything that was Bethyl and when she left the show, it was devastating.
But now searching about them again and remembering how invested I used to be, how much I love this ship, I’m down the rabbit hole. I’m so glad to see so many fans still want to see her alive!! And it’s also so weird that for a character who died years ago, Angela Kang just brought up a pic of Emily. And a year ago, TWD tweeted about her. Might be nothing but also kinda hints at what the producers and showrunner are thinking of. Almost as if they’re getting a feel for her character returning in some way.
I’m almost to my dreaded episode but I’m hoping I can get into the new seasons with my hopes renewed. Realistically, I’m at least hoping she cameos even as a hallucination. Just to prove that Daryl always has her in his mind. Heck, I’d be happy for just a mention. A part of me hopes she’s still alive but I don’t want to get my heart broken. Would you mind sharing your theory on how she could’ve survived that? At least who would’ve helped her after getting shot it in the head?
I still believe Daryl and Beth have the most special connection anyone can have in an apocalypse. It was so real and beautiful. I still don’t get why other people find malice in it. I’m 100% sure they would’ve gotten through a slow build up and Daryl would never have taken advantage of her. It would’ve been so sweet.

You really don't have to apologize for a rant I can promise 100% of TDers agree with. So, couple of small things and then I'll get into the juicy stuff. The reason people find malice in it is because they're threatened by it. That's it. That's the only reason. It's something I really want everyone to understand. It makes dealing with internet trolls MUCH easier. Others wanted Daryl to be with other characters who shall remain nameless. And that's fine. Totally a personal shipping thing. But how defensive they get just shows that they, too, felt the chemistry there, and were threatened by. If they really didn't think there was any chance the writers meant for Beth and Daryl to be a romantic thing, they wouldn't get all hot under the collar and start screaming about age gaps and pedophilia. Their reaction just proves that they felt the underlying romantic tension as much as we did. So, there's that.
As for the mention, there is one in 10x17. It's from Maggie, not Daryl, but she's talking to Daryl when she says it. (I'm sure you meant you wanted a mention from Daryl, which we all do, but we were happy to at least get something.) And understand, it's not like they have a deep convo about Beth. It's just a passing mention. But interestingly, they went out of their way NOT to show Daryl's reaction when Maggie said Beth's name. I thought that was an interesting and intentional choice.
As though they wanted to mention her in the dialogue, but they're not yet ready to show us Daryl's reaction to hearing her name. And why not if, you know, she's really gone?
And I completely agree about the outside-the-show mentions. It's way too heavy to be accidental. It feels to me like an entire strategic campaign of mentions and promotions. And look, maybe our interpretations are just our interpretations and opinions for now. In the sense that we can't yet prove they're more than that. But this much is fact:
No other deceased characters has gotten more promotion or mentions since leaving the show than Beth/Emily. Sure, every now and again other deceased characters will get a mention. They'll come out with a new action figure of Tyreese, or do a throwback mention of Dale. But overall, other deceased characters get MAYBE one mention a year. Usually not even that.
With Beth/Emily, the promotion is almost weekly, now. Really think about that.
Okay, so you asked how she survived and who helped her. Our theories about this have really evolved, especially over the past few years with the introduction of the CRM. If you haven't watched FTWD or TWB, I would suggest that you do. The CRM (people in black clothes who fly the helicopters, and took Rick away) will probably figure heavily into Beth's arc.
So, our current theory is that Grady was connected to the CRM and the patients at Grady were basically test subjects. Beth probably survived a walker bite (bite/cure theory) because they were experimenting on her.
We also think the walker horde that caused her body to be left behind might have been orchestrated by the CRM, because they wanted to retain her body for research purposes. Even they didn't expect her to survive.
So, that leads to the conclusion that when TF left her body behind (details HERE) it was the CRM who came and got her and probably took her back to Grady. But TF didn't know anything about any of this, and wouldn't have suspected something like that. To them, she simply disappeared and they assumed she'd turned and staggered off.
Of course we, the audience, couldn't have known anything about this either, which is why they were so secretive about it back then and skipped over those 17 days after Coda. They didn't want the audience focusing on it for the next few seasons, until they were ready to really introduced the CRM to us, which they did bit by bit, but didn't entirely do until we saw them take Rick away in S9.
So, that's a very high-level view of our current theory for how she survived. (In terms of her injury, even in real life--outside of fiction--her injury was very survivable. More people than you realize survive injuries like that. The thing that makes the difference is whether the cerebral artery is nicked, which would make them bleed out too fast to save them. But it's clear that didn't happen with Beth, and most people who are shot in the head but DON'T hit that artery survive it.)

What happened in the last episode? Any interesting stuff?
I don't know how to describe the episode... So much happened in the episode, yet nothing happened; the main plot barely moved.😂(With only 2 episodes left!!!)
Now the things happened in this episode, I am keeping it very short(not in sequence):
1. Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru are still fighting. It still seems Sesshomaru is trying to make Kirinmaru realize something. The next episode(Ep 47) is titled "Father and Daughter", so probably the fight should end by the next episode. Or at least both father(Kirimaru) and daughter(Rion) will realize something.
2. Riku realized something about Rion, but Rion took him away comically before he could say anything. (Probably Rion is a half-demon, idk, that’s Rion saying shut up btw.)
3. The OG group has temporarily trapped the butterfly near Mt.Musubi. Again, it seems the mountain(a preggo lady holding her belly) seems very important. Again one more mystery... 🙄
4. Setsuna and Moroha went to the place where Rion is T-posing.
She attacks both of them with colorful thread of fate. They were basically dodging the threads(they weren’t able to cut it). Then Setsuna realizes that the correct thread(the one connected to Rion) needs to be cut.
Every time the correct thread got severed, they heard Rion’s voice(heart) complaining about her father, lol. I guess this will continue until the next episode cause Rion ain’t listening to Setsuna and Moroha.
5. After Riku got kidnapped, Towa and Kirin were fighting in a place that looks like a library(Yup it’s inside the butterfly).
It seems Kirin Sensei has started thinking of himself as Rion’s real father. He is trying to create a new history where Rion will be the new ruler of the world.(Cause in the history books, demons are only mentioned in fairytales, so he was devasted and wanted to teach humans new history. It is confusing; trust me T.T)
To be honest, his writing(in the series) is hella confusing, but I guess we will understand Kirinmaru via him.
Towa calls him out on his B.S and says something( Psst..That he is not the father but just a right arm) that hits his nerves:
He zaps out Towa’s demonic power using the Zanseiken. Then there was a whole fight sequence, where of course, Towa had to dodge, and they talked about humans. Short description of the convo:
Kirin: Rion doesn’t like everything about humans, you have seen ugly side of humanity yada yada we demons were chased from our usual homes and were made to feel inferior

Dun dun dun episode ends at Kirin Sensei saying,“Good bye Higurashi-san”.(Well Riku will save her, I guess)
The whole change of Kirin sensei from “I like humans” to him complaining about humans just seems like the story showing us Kirinmaru’s change. Well, at least I am seeing it this way.
Anywho now the thing I personally found interesting is how Towa looks after her demonic energy got absorbed.
Her hair turned black, it’s short and her eye color changed as well. Ignoring the red streaks this is how Towa should look in her human version:
But in her human version not only does her hair color change but her hair grows:
Same goes for Setsuna her hair also grows in her supposed human night:
And I can't add the image, but there was a snow demon who sensed a weak demonic energy of Setsuna. (on her human night)
So the thing is, should we even call the twins human night "human"? Both the girls grow their hair(which didn't happen with Inuyasha), and a demon sensed one of the twin's weak demonic energy.

Hey, i hope you're doing well. I discovered your blog recently, you're answers r interesting n better insights than more of jikookers have. I want to put a thought here which is there a long time. ITS 1 Tae wanted to have convo with jk, I didn't understand that why he wanted to do it on cam? The awkwardness/distance they got probably might have a reason? Maybe of diff of opinions/ego strike btwn them? Whatever it was off cam. Even if we assume, it is harder to make an interaction after long time with the disconnected frnd still this whole epi can be done off cam as well. Like they can meet via jimin outside. I didn't understand the point of that conversation in front of million fans? I felt like it can sort out privately. Or this whole is jus a marketing strategy by company? Now that conversation happened so we r seeing more of tkk? Idk. I hope I made sense without being negative. Thank you.

I honestly have no idea why he chose to do it there....... I've wondered the same and every guess I have of why is as clueless as yours tbh.
I went to check on what I told my friend when that episode aired and I said:
"I'm surpised Taehyung chose to do this on the show. Not that thrown off by the whole matter in itself, that's just life, it happens, but the fact that he planned to have a conversation about it in front of cameras."
Then we talked a bit about taekookers theories and my friend said:
"If I was one of them I would be devastated that all the time I spent swooning over my fav ship, my ship hardly talked to each other."
Honestly, both points were the hardest for me to understand and the second was the most difficult to come to terms with, because of who I thought JK was.
The "theory" that makes the most sense to me, and it's just my own conclusion because I've never seen anyone talk about it, is that maybe Taehyung decided to have that conversation after the May 5th taekook vlive. It wasn't a horrible live, but it wasn't a happy live either. I think that maybe Tae watched it, and realized that their vibe was off and a couple weeks later, when they were filming ITS, he decided to acknowledge that lack of chemistry on camera.
I might be completely utterly outrageously wrong, but if I think about how they were during the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, there's no apparent conflict. Nothing seemed wrong during those days, in fact they seemed better than ever. I can't imagine either of taekook watching themselves cuddling on GDA and saying "yeah we need to address and explain this". You know that saying why fix something that isn't broken? So it makes sense to me to consider that maybe Taehyung saw something that looked off between them, and realized that probably everybody was seeing it. I know at least I would've wanted to explain why my friend and I don't seem to vibe after watching that live.
That's just an opinion I have and it makes sense to me because that live was like, the most inmediate thing before the filming of ITS.
Because otherwise I don't understand why publicly solve a conflict that nobody really knew existed in the first place. Apart from that live (which wasn't even thaaat bad but it wasn't good either, especially when compared to other duos lives), they looked perfectly fine to me all along the time they were supposedly awkward with each other. They looked perfectly fine right inmediately after that conversation, too; in fact they looked quite the same as before the conversation 😭
So at least in my opinion, Taehyung had to have noticed or felt like the conflict was out there, so the resolution for it had to be done out there, too. I personally can't think of any other instance that might've looked like there was a conflict apart from that live.
I also wonder how long was that "awkward" phase? When did it start, was it in the beginning of 2019, was it in March 2020, April 2020...? All JK said was that as they got time on their own, a part of his relationship with Tae started to get awkward. He never said they were distant, tho. Just that a part of it was awkward.
The other possible reason that I consider, is that Taehyung decided to have that conversation on camera for personal reasons, and Jungkook was a bit like collateral damage, like killing two birds with one stone. I know Jungkook would've not wanted to do that on camera but it happened like that because Taehyung wanted it to happen that way. It was an opportunity for Taehyung to talk about himself, the way he didn't feel like he was loved, the reasons for him to spend so much on weverse trying to connect with army, I don't remember well but he kind of let on a bit about having some sort of career crisis. I am definitely 100% sure that Taehyung wanted to put all that out there and having that conversation with JK was a way to bring all that up within some kind of context. If you think about it, it was supposed to be a heart-to-heart but JK barely spoke about himself, it was mostly Taehyung who talked about his feelings, who actually opened his heart; which is okay anyways, since he was the one who decided to do that in the show.
Of course there were some editing decisions made and the conversation in reality didn't last only two minutes, but yeah I don't know what else was said so all I can talk about is what I watched. And I watched Taehyung opening up his heart and JK giving nice advice.
I was never suspicious per se of why he wanted to have that conversation on camera, but I was confused about why solving a conflict that didn't seem to be there in the first place. Like you said, it could've been done privately. I don't know if he wanted people to say "oh tae he's so great he wants to fix things etc", because yes, they all also do stuff with that on mind sometimes. So I think that's a valid possibility, too.
Maybe it was the whole vibe of that place, maybe they were all on their periods (joking) at the same time and were sensitive. You know how when you start opening up, you just keep going. When you're in the mood for sentimentalism it's easy to keep being sentimental. I'm a woman, but I'm sure men feel like this sometimes, too.
So... yeah. What do you think could've been the reason?
