asking your library to order a book, a guide
let's say you're really excited about a book coming out soon. you want to read it and support the author but maybe you don't have a ton of disposable income because you, for instance, live in a capitalist hellscape that doesn't enforce a living wage.
perhaps, um, just for example, you want to read my upcoming YA novel Stars, Hide Your Fires, wherein a jaded thief and a mysterious revolutionary must team up to solve a mystery in space, feat. ballgowns, intrigue, banter, and a generous dash of queer romance (out july 11th!)
if you can't afford to buy a book, i would ask you to please please consider your local library. here is a tool for finding your closest lending library (u.s. only, unfortunately). this is also a gentle reminder to get a library card if you don't have one yet! libraries provide invaluable services, particularly to underserved groups, and are funded partly based on use, so you'll be supporting your community.
your library may already have ordered a copy, in which case borrowing the book is a matter of placing a hold and then waiting for it to come out. but what if you try and your local library has no plans of obtaining the volume? first of all, good on you for your ~exclusive tastes. second, you can do an author a huge favor, for free and in under five minutes, by requesting that your library order their book.
google the name of your library along with "purchase request" or "suggest a purchase." if one doesn't work, try the other.
towards the top of the results, you'll probably find a form to fill out.
in the case of my local library, what you find is an FAQ page that suggests emailing the library if they're missing something. clicking on that email ink takes you to a form.
note: they'll probably ask for your library card number, so have that handy!
it's very likely they'll ask for the ISBN so they can be sure they'll identify the right book. in the case of Stars, Hide Your Fires, you can find that info on the publisher's website. (Or I can save you the click: hardcover ISBN: 9781683693512, e-Book ISBN: 9781683693529) If you don't happen to know this, you can just google the title and author plus "ISBN" and it should come up.
submit the form and bask in the good vibes that follow.

How to ditch subscription music apps and build your own library (mostly) for free
This post is brought to you by the most recent update to the Amazon music app which no longer lets me, as a Prime subscriber, download individual songs or albums. I now either have to download “playlists” or pay an extra subscription fee for Amazon music unlimited. Since I was only using Amazon’s app because I didn’t have to pay anything extra, I ultimately decided not to put up with their bullshit and to go back to the old ways, e.g., building my own music library that no corporation can randomly decide to take away from me.
If you grew up in the pre-internet, burgeoning-but-not-ubiquitous-internet, or pre-smartphone era like me, the following steps will be a blast from the past, so this post is not exactly for you. It’s for Kids These Days™ who may not remember a pre-algorithm, pre-subscription service internet in the same way, or just anyone who doesn’t know you can do this. Remember, one man’s time knife is another man’s Chris Fleming.
So, how do you get music for free?
Use your public library
Check out CDs
Rip them using Windows Media Player, which comes standard with windows computers
That’s it. Now you can save and back up the .mp3 files wherever you want, and you have them forever and ever. I recently ripped music from a CD I copied and burned onto a new disc back in high school, uploaded the mp3 files to Google drive, and downloaded them onto my phone. I paid zero dollars for that, and I now have that album forever.
Ok, so how do I do that?
I’m glad you asked.
1. Insert a CD in the disc drive. (I know a lot of new laptops don’t come with a disc drive--I’ll address this later)
2. Go to the Windows start menu and find Windows Media Player. (If you have a mac, use itunes or whatever, I’m sure it’s similar)
3. Find the CD on the menu on the left-hand side of Windows Media Player. It looks like this.
Tumblr media
4. At the top of the screen, go to “rip CD”. If you don’t want all of the songs, uncheck the ones you don’t want to rip. It should now look like this.
Tumblr media
5. When it’s done, go to your music folder and find the artist and album. Here are the .mp3 files. You can connect your phone directly to your computer to transfer the files, or you can upload them to Google drive or your cloud storage of choice and then download them onto your phone.
Tumblr media
6. From there, the .mp3s should load automatically and play in the music player app of your choice. I use Musicolet because it doesn’t have ads.
Is this legal? Honestly, that’s a bit of a grey area. Technically, only the copyright owners can make reproductions of their work barring exceptions for fair use, but the real trouble does not come when you copy a work, but when you redistribute it. If you save this from a hard copy to your own computer or phone, who’s ever gonna know? Basically, it’s legal enough to get away with, and legal enough that no one will care. This is how back in the pre-CD days, people recorded songs off the radio onto cassette tapes, and how my parents saved all of the James Bond movies from a TV movie marathon by recording them to VHS tapes on the VCR.
Is this ethical to the artist? It’s as ethical as checking out their CD to listen to it on a CD player and then return it. The library already purchased their music legally, and checking out the CD to rip it is literally no different than checking out the disc to play it in a CD player. The more times something has been checked out, the more likely the library is to replace it if it wears out and gets ruined.
Will the library get mad at me / figure out what I’m doing? Emphatically no. They don’t give a shit. Checking out a bunch of CDs improves their circulation rates, which is good for your local library system as a whole, because that’s something they bring to their governing bodies to show that people are still using the library and that they still need funding.
What if the library doesn’t have the album I want? You can try getting it through interlibrary loan, requesting the library purchase it (a lot of libraries have forms for that), or just buying that album yourself if you want it that badly. CDs cost roughly $10-$25 each, less if they’re used, which is the equivalent of like 1-2 months of spotify depending on what tier you use. Compare that to having the music you want forever without having to pay a monthly fee.
My laptop doesn’t have a disc drive. Neither does mine. I bought a USB disc player from Amazon for like $20. Your library might also have one they’d let you use, although they might not have ones to check out and take home.
I don’t have a computer. Your library does. They’re free to use, and I can almost guarantee they have PC desktops running Windows. They may not have a disc drive, in which case you can [see last paragraph].
This would be great if I could actually get to the library / afford a disc player / had a phone, etc. Yes, I’m assuming several things here, including that you have a phone, can get to your public library, and (if you refer to the title of this post) that you are the kind of person who can pay for spotify or another streaming app. I’m also American, and I don’t know how well all of this applies to other countries. However, this is the most affordable and most accessible solution out there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t have the time for this and would rather just keep paying for spotify. That’s fine, and I’m honestly not judging you. I buy a lot of pre-cut vegetables from the store because I don’t have the fucking time to peel and chop carrots. My mom would say that’s a waste of money, but I’m paying for the convenience.
Lol I’m just gonna pirate shit. Cool, have fun. Just please keep your pirating to mega-rich artists who are already set for life and not struggling people putting their shit out on soundcloud, ok?
How do I get new music recs without suggestions? Listen to the radio. Look up music you hear in movie soundtracks. Get recs from friends. Go to YouTube (using ublock origin for Firefox so you don’t get ads) and use their algorithm. There are ways beyond the personalized playlist spotify gives you.
This seems like it takes a lot of time and effort. If you have no music to begin with, yeah, then it’s going to take some time to build your library. But, as I keep saying, the benefits are that you get to curate your own experience and that you get to have this music forever. Once you already have most of what you want set up, it’s going to take a lot less effort to add new albums or songs here and there as you discover them. In this modern hellscape of profit-seeking and algorithms, I will keep peddling the value of curating your own experience and getting shit for free.

Welcome to the Monster Mash!
...If you couldn’t tell, I could not think of a better way to introduce this weird, hidden village monster AU. Based off a roleplay with a friend, this is me taking some extra time to spend with some of the villagers!
“Oh? Were you looking for someone, little one? Hehe, I’m Miss Yae. Want to have a chat?”
Tumblr media
Meet Yae Miko, the owner of Yae Publishing Agency and village leader! While this foxy woman may appear normal at first, her demeanor makes her a clear leader among the monsterfolk. From publishing and exporting new books to organizing annual festivals, Miko has expertise in far more fields than one might expect.
“Hiya, I’m Xiangling! Nice to meet you! Want some food? Wanmin Restaurant’s daily special is half off right now!”
Tumblr media
Xiangling is one of the brightest teenagers in the village. Known as a junior culinary genius, she is very popular among her peers. Being a “were-bear” Xiangling will turn into a bear on nights with a waxing moon phase. This doesn’t discourage her from cooking, and often her friends will be recruited to help clean the damages afterwards...
“Hi... I am Qiqi. What are you here to purchase?”
Tumblr media
Qiqi works at Bubu Grocery and Pharmaceutical Goods, the local shop. The shy zombie can often be seen sipping coconut milk while she mans the front desk. Qiqi does not have many friends in the village, since most of them grow up when she doesn’t. But she has learned to accept the coming and going of friends, and quickly forgets the older ones. At least right now she can stay with Dr Baizhu and his snake Changsheng.
So how can you come into this? Well... I’ll be opening my asks so people can request interactions between characters and the reader.
Introducing, the Reader. They are a mage and will be referred to with gender neutral pronouns. Reader has lived in the village for the past few years and already knows all of the village members.
Along with requests for interactions, you can also suggest things for the reader to do. You can suggest they visit a location or talk to a certain character. They are in your control, basically!
Location List
The Hidden Village: Surrounded by tall cliffs, a wide plaza is interspersed with canals for aquatic monsterfolk to swim through.
The Apartments: An apartment building owned by Miss Yae. Most of the people in the village live in the large complex.
Bubu Grocery and Pharmaceutical Goods: A grocery and pharmacy owned by Doctor Baizhu. Most of where everyone gets their groceries and occasional prescriptions.
Wanmin Restaurant: An open-air eatery. I already introduced Xiangling, so I don’t really have much to say about the restaurant. Haha... Um...
The Library: A small building where books are kept. The librarian Miss Ganyu also keeps a schoolhouse there during the spring and summer seasons.
Yae Bookstore: Did I mention Yae Miko owns like, 80% of the property? Well, welcome to the bookstore! (Where Xingqiu gets his little fingers worked to death while writing...) The bookstore owns a printing press and exports many original books.
The Channels: Where the sirens and mermaids hang out. This is also used as a transport sidewalk for most aquatic monsters.
Character List
Yae Miko (Kitsune)
Xiangling (Were-Bear)
Qiqi (Zombie)
Baizhu (Snake person ((SNEOPLE? steven universe arc...)) )
Ganyu (Adeptus)
Xinyan (Half Siren)
Mona Megistus (Oracle/Mage)
Shikanoin Heizou (Spiderman)
Yun Jin (Siren)
Kokomi (Mermaid)
Diona (Catfolk)
Xingqiu (Vampire)
Sayu (Mage)
Feel free to suggest more characters to be added. I mostly just add whoever I think can chill together RELATIVELY peacefully.
So, send any requests for our lovely reader to visit a location or say hi to a character! Or ask for a character introduction card if you feel like it. I’m happy to do more.

Hi, do you know any places where I can read/download "Book of Renfield"? After your posts I really want to check it out, but Amazon refuses to ship stuff to my town ><
hey! that makes me so excited to hear that you're interested in it! (when will tim lucas start paying me for being that book's entire marketing team?) i got mine used years ago, so i'm not totally sure, but you may be able to find it in used book marketplaces online! one of my friends recently had success that way, and found it pretty cheap. not sure where you're trying to ship to, so i don't know how helpful i can be suggesting a specific site that will work for you, but alibris, thriftbooks, and biblio have all saved me in a pinch in the past. ebay even seems to have several copies. and not to state the obvious but if you haven’t already, maybe try your local library! lots of libraries will take purchase requests, so even if they don't already have it, they might be able to purchase a copy that you can then check out!

How Much it Would Cost to Develop Car Parking App ?
Tumblr media
Parking arrangements have a direct impact on your company's conversion rate. There is some truth in this remark, despite the fact that it may surprise you. Having a designated parking place will help you draw in more consumers, regardless of whether you own a tiny e-commerce shop or a commercial location. Having enough parking space for all of your clients' cars can be an issue due to the rising number of vehicles.
Parking management is one of the many sectors where AI has found a home nowadays. You may put an end to parking space issues by implementing an effective and clever parking system. Imagine a client arriving at your store by car only to be aggravated by the scarcity of parking spaces.
Note: To create an app, you need to understand the cost to build a car parking app
How the parking app works
Parking apps are essentially smartphone programs that direct you to open parking spaces near a specific destination. The parking mobile app also offers tools to evaluate parking facilities, interactive real-time parking maps, the ability to reserve parking spaces and make payments online, and contactless parking access. For metered street spaces, some localities additionally provide a pay-by-app parking option. These apps are helpful for extending your parking time and remotely feeding the meter.
Top 6 Parking App Features
Let's examine the main attributes of parking management apps in more detail.
Looking for and navigating
Search and navigation are features that are frequently included in these tools. Users can get directions on where to park their car and the distance to the closest lot. The most typical request made by drivers is to locate a parking space.
Booking
It allows users to pre-pay for space on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. This helps drivers avoid daily reservations, saving them time and money.
Payment
The payment option is usually a huge plus, as many drivers don't want to tinker with cash. Usually, apps have several payment options available.
The customer's country and preference determine the payment mechanism they use. Payfort, for example, is more frequently used in Middle Eastern nations. However, consumers may favor other systems like Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, and others in other areas.
Libraries for the technological stack like react-native-in-app-purchases, react-native-stripe, react-native-paypal, and others are helpful for developers creating parking apps. Of course, if you select cross-platform programming for iOS and Android.

Push notifications
Notifications concerning sales and app upgrades can be sent by apps. But perhaps more crucially, they can alert users before the parking period runs out. This gives drivers the option to prolong their parking period if necessary and prevents fines.
React-native-firebase can be used by your developer to implement this feature for Techstack. React-native-push-notifications can be used if the backend implements push notifications. (Again, true if cross-platform development is chosen.)
Whatever platform you decide on, it's a good idea to develop an MVP. Customers that purchase a product with adequate features will give input on how to improve it in the future.
Let's now go through the two main characteristics of parking help apps.
Audio, visual or vibration alerts
Apps can send audio, visual and/or vibration alerts for objects detected in front or behind your vehicle. A piece of software communicates with wireless backup cameras and sensors.
Automated parking management
When it comes to automated valet parking, cameras create a complete map of the surroundings and any potential obstacles to driving and parking. And it is smartphones that initiate and orchestrate the process.
How much does creating a parking solution cost?
The time it takes to design a parking app ranges from months to a year. It depends on the things you include in that list. Starting with the first set, which includes registration, Google map integration, and the "book now" option, is what we advise. Such an MVP can be made for less than $10,000 if it includes a user app and admin panel. Costs range from $20,000 to $150,000 when building an app for parking cars with all three of the aforementioned components.

My sister and I set a goal for ourselves this year to read more physical books so whenever we go on a little trip to town we buy some and it's been working well so far. I feel so guilty though when I spent money on books I didn't enjoy and I don't know how to turn that feeling off. And then today I bought a book and it turns out it's that author who didn't read the odyssey before writing a "retelling" and now I feel awful but I don't want to not read a book I spent money on (because money is tight again) but I don't want to read it when I have all these negative feelings attached to it and I hope I can put them aside and still enjoy reading it, I'm trying not to go on goodreads and read reviews before I read a book because I'm easily influenced but in this case I feel like the reviews are entirely justified and I'm just so eurgh about having spent money on this and -> <-
hello sweet friend! 🤍 i love that you and your sister are trying to read more physical books this year, and that it's going well! i'd love to hear about what your favorites have been so far 🧸
i think feeling guilty/feeling disappointed for spending money on something that you didn't enjoy is totally normal; it's this feeling of "oh, i could've spent it on [x,y, or z] instead". and i think that can also apply to other factors too, not just monetary — "i could've spent my time on better things", "i could've done this other thing instead". we're not always able to predict if something will bring us enjoyment/joy of some sort, but i think we get closer to learning more about ourselves. for me, at least, every time i read a book that i don't like, i get a step closer to figuring out what kind of books i do like. i've gotten a lot better about knowing my own taste in books (and other things), and have gotten smarter about the books i purchase, ARCs i request, etc. as a result of that.
books (like all art) are really subjective, and what works for one person might not work for another, so i try to pass books that don't work for me to someone who will enjoy them. my best friend and i have wildly opposite tastes, and a lot of the time she'll end up with a new favorite, which is great! i also try to unhaul books regularly; whether that's through donating them, going free little library hopping, or trying to sell them at my local bookstore (they buy used books)/online on facebook/via other methods. i'm not sure if any of those are options for you! i'm not sure if you have access to a library near you, or if the library near you has a good selection, but the library is also a great way to get a hold of more physical books!
with the author who didn't read the odyssey retelling, i personally haven't read it or looked into their book too much, because i've been too overwhelmed by ARCs/have been slumping hardcore lately, but i took a (very) quick skim through the goodreads reviews — it looks like there are a lot of people giving it a 1 star without reading it, there are some people who genuinely didn't love it, and there are people who loved it, which could be said for any book, really! i'm also pretty easily influenced and have to make an active effort try not to take too much stock in reviews though — just because people can rate things for different reasons; what works for one person doesn't work for another, etc. most of the time, i try not to log a book on goodreads until i'm past the first 50 pages, just so that i'm 1) already semi-invested in the book & 2) i've already started forming my own opinion on it (i can normally predict by the 50 page mark how i'll feel about a book) & 3) not tempted to go through goodreads reviews. if you ever see me looking at reviews while i'm in the middle of a book, it's usually because i'm trying to figure out if my feelings/thoughts are justified, and if it's worth continuing (or if i should just DNF it). it's also okay to not read a book immediately — maybe you could put a pin on it for a while until you feel like you're able to enjoy it, if you think that's possible at all?
it's always 🥴 (a really shitty feeling, for lack of a better word) to have spent money on something and to not enjoy it, or to later find out something about it that makes you 😵‍💫. i hope your next pick is a good one, and i hope you're loving whatever you're currently reading! 💌

The Library Patron
A LA POEM Minseong fanfic by AbsentCaryatid
Your work as a small-town librarian is brightened by a favorite patron with wide-ranging taste in songbooks.
1.9K words, Content note: all ages, gender neutral reader, food mention ~ Now that the months were colder, you had settled into the off-season routine of a quieter workplace. As a librarian you were always in demand, but without the bustle of vacationers looking for the latest beach read or series for their kids, you could devote more time to the smaller number of locals. Of course, there were also always people who made their way to your small town for the special collection of European songbooks donated ages ago as part of the library's founding. Over the decades the selection had been supplemented by newer purchases to broaden the scope to music from around the world and the modest building become quite a regional draw for those interested in the topic.
“It feels good to be surrounded by books again.” The somewhat imposing man with a beard that did not quite hide the size of his chin stood before your desk. You could hear him inhale the familiar scent of aged but well-preserved paper. “I miss the music library at my old school in Germany.” The man with the wistful smile introduced himself as Jeong Minseong and came with a substantial list of books he hoped to access on his visit.
You already felt warmly toward the new patron with his wide-ranging music interests including classics and opera. A good number of the items were present and could be checked out with the non-resident library card you promptly issued. As you waited for the lamination machine to warm up, you assisted with others he was searching for. Some of the research would take time and you promised to keep him informed when anything came in for him. Arms stacked high with books, and more in the library supporter tote bag on his shoulder, he left with a smile on his face and a promise to return them on time.
The three weeks passed quickly. Enjoying the hunt, he had you delving into some of the most obscure libraries in the world to arrange inter-library loans, often managed through the help of an interpreter. Mr. Jeong had a strong passion for Chinese lyrics from the past thousand years, but also made requests for music from various other continents and in every language imaginable. He soon became your favorite patron both for the challenges he brought and his kind personality.
Knowing how much he was putting you to work, including the time you went above and beyond to pick up a songbook yourself from another library, his regular visits became accompanied by a bakery item in thanks. He understood you would have to save it for your breaks keeping your hands clean for handling books, but his genuine gesture of appreciation touched your heart. It was about this time you stopped using family names with each other.
The habit developed from then on for Minseong to join you at the picnic table out back, weather permitting, and enjoy the break time treats he would arrive with, now supplemented by coffee for two. He'd listen with an arm on the table, head propped up by his hand as you would talk about anything, seemingly as happy to be in your presence as you were in his. The alarm from your phone dragging you back to work life always felt too soon as you could never get enough of his pleasant company.
Months passed and every time he appeared with a new desire it was a pleasure marshaling all your research skills to locate the treasure. Usually you could proudly email that the book he sought had come in, though there were also times you had to make do with scans of books too precious to travel. Occasionally, what Minseong was after was long out of copyright and sometimes turned up after careful internet sleuthing. It also helped the library had access to database subscriptions the sweet man did not have access to on his own. His taste for learning had you swooning because you were strongly drawn to people with deep knowledge of a subject.
There were physical aspects to your appreciation as well. Minseong carried himself with something akin to stage presence. Even his attractive, low-pitched voice was ideal for library discussions that would not disturb the few other patrons. Lost in thought on his latest visit, it took a while to notice Minseong had quieted as well. Shaking yourself back to the present, you noticed his interest fell on the flier displayed upright on the desk. As the year had moved on to warmer weather, the library's annual fundraiser concert was approaching. It was a big deal in your little town, a casual night providing the most amateur of entertainment.
In a snap decision that was far more successful than you could ever have dreamed, you let Minseong know it was not just for locals. “You seem musical based on your reading history, you are welcome to join in if you wish. Perhaps you play something, or like to sing?”
Minseong's smile was enigmatic. “Your concert to raise library funds sounds like something I would enjoy participating in, especially for such a good cause, but I need to check my schedule.” Within the week he called with a yes and the request to be last on the program. As the staff member in charge of scheduling, this was something you could promise.
The day came and the weather held beautifully despite earlier hints of rain. Balconies of the apartments nearby, really just subdivided houses, were full of neighbors ready to enjoy the amateur entertainment. Everyone was welcome, voluntary donation or not, and the festive evening began. Casual musicians and singers took the makeshift stage at the outdoor concert with supporters on lawn chairs or picnic blankets spread out on the library's lawn. Some couples on the periphery took the opportunity to dance along to a few of the songs.
On the off chance you could persuade Minseong to join you before he closed the event, you had made sure to pack dinner for two and luck was with you. He had arrived early and generously assisted setting up, then eagerly took you up on the offer of a seat at your side. Between bites, he listened attentively and had nice things to say about each act, even able to praise enthusiasm when talent was yet to be developed.
At last his turn came and your co-worker acting as master of ceremonies welcomed Minseong to the stage. Wanting to remember this night, you took the opportunity to ask for permission to record his song on your phone. Minseong must have been sure of his abilities, for he agreed with a slight modest head bow that still let you see a grin.
He made his way to the stage and took a moment to introduce the song. “Those of you who have seen me spending hours at the library with my head buried in classical music tomes might be surprised I know a few current songs too. Usually I song this with three of my friends, but tonight I'll be on my own. I present 'Answer' by ATEEZ sung without accompaniment.”
From the first few lines you realized the kindness it was that no one would have to follow Minseong's presentation. What you and everyone else in earshot discovered was that your favorite patron was no hobbyist singer. His rendition of 'Answer' was majestic and you were left in awe of his ability.
The night ended with a standing ovation. Minseong thoughtfully waved all the other participants back up to share in the copious applause. Your job then complete, you left cleanup to the breakdown crew and the star of the evening walked you to your vehicle. Many people came up to congratulate Minseong on his skill. It made a nice change from the apparently standoffish attitude you had witnessed from the other patrons because when engrossed in his reading Minseong could appear quite intimidating. It pleased you to know others had now seen a different side of him, the one you were more familiar with.
Right on schedule three weeks later, Jeong Minseong, soloist and member of the crossover group LA POEM arrived with the latest books to return. A little internet sleuthing based on his name had told you quite a lot about your friend's high-profile. You chuckled. “Here I was thinking you were an academic with all your research and then you wowed all of us with that amazing voice. Our library’s YouTube channel has never had so many views and we’ve been getting donations from all the globe thanks to the finale you let me post. Thank you so much for that.”
Minseong blossomed at your praise, again giving a shy smile you found endearing.
“I had no idea you were a professional, and with a worldwide fan base too! No wonder you have such an extensive knowledge of music across quite a range of time periods.”
“I was glad my label Studio JAMM got permission from KQ Entertainment to let me help this way. This place, and you in particular, have been necessary to my research. It felt good to support your library that has given me so much.”
Now it was your turn to glow from his words. “Our collection of songbooks will grow thanks to you. I'm so grateful.” Taking a wrapped gift from your desk drawer, you handed the thin rectangle to Minseong.
Gingerly he unwrapped the delicate object revealing a book he had been trying to locate for months.
“In the end I found a copy for sale instead of at a loaning institution. This is yours to keep.”
“You could have added it to the library's collection for me to borrow.” Looking up in wonder, he joked, “I hope you are not trying to get rid of me.”
The vehemence of your answer startled both of you. “Never! It is the highlight of any day when you come in. I love talking with you.” A little wistfulness crept into your voice as you concluded, “I could see you forever.” You abruptly cut yourself off. That was far more than you had intended to admit, and about a library patron too.
Minseong smiled. “I wasn’t going to say anything because, well, you are at work and you could be that friendly with everyone, but perhaps I have my answer. May I take you to dinner in thanks for this much desired book?”
“You owe me nothing, I have had the pleasure of resolving your quest and did it to thank you for your service to the library.” Catching the way his face began to fall at your apparent denial, the reassurance came quick, “And yes, I would like that very much.”
Relief apparent on his face, that very afternoon began the first of many times Minseong would pick you up from work. In no time at all he became your boyfriend, then live-in partner once you relocated to his apartment. The lengthier commute to the library was more than compensated for by the ability to see each other all the time. Your workplace was also flexible, granting you time off as needed to be with Minseong on tours. That understanding worked in the library's favor as you often returned with a suitcase full of new library acquisitions from far-flung cities.
With little coaxing from Minseong, all the members of LA POEM began to use your library's resources regularly. Sunghoon found an endless supply of French songs from all eras to add to his repertoire and Kihun discovered the same for the genre he was drawn to, Italian classics. Their leader Chaehoon spent more time browsing the modern collection, and even he came away satisfied with some discoveries suitable for future concerts, some of which they later put on for the library's benefit.

Artistic Ways To Wear A Gucci Belt
This Gucci belt doesn’t feature the GG monograms, and its inside is either suede or leather. The ‘Interlocking G’ buckle of this belt must also be devoid of any screws and shouldn’t be removable from the belt. A piece of leather ought to maintain the buckle in place and not aluminium. The serial variety of an unique Gucci belt often begins with “114” or “223”, however by no means with “1212”, and is usually 21 digits lengthy. After the struggle, Guccio Gucci distributed the shares of the corporate to his three sons . The brand launched its first international tagline, Quality is remembered lengthy after worth is forgotten. In November 1953, Gucci opened its first US store on 5th Avenue and 58th Street in New York. A second NY store opened in the Saint Regis Hotel in 1960, and a 3rd on fifth Avenue and 54th Street in 1973, leading the locals to call this NY space "Gucci City". Its product traces embrace purses, ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories, makeup, fragrances, and home ornament. The “®” character is too small on the fake vs real Gucci belt and at the same time, the “R” inside the circle is too huge as it hits the perimeters of the circle within the interior. This seems like a minor spot to take a look at, however it's really worth noticing when legit checking the Gucci GG belt. Explore the Library 1M+ words written for 1000's of items in hundreds of guides. The video is posted by Anita Gupta & Chabi Gupta on Instagram. replica gucci belt The Gucci Reversible Interlocking GG Supreme Belt is the fifth most costly belt that's at present provided in the Gucci collection. wikipedia designer belt It’s 1.5 inches wide and made of leather-based on one facet and canvas on the opposite. The hardware for the buckle is a Palladium-tone with an interlocking G buckle closure, made in Italy. The G brand being highlighted somewhere on the buckle is a consistent theme. Some belts function interlocking G closures, while at different instances the G stands alone in a daring assertion. The G can also be discovered within a easy golden rectangle. In the Eighties and early Nineteen Nineties, the bar on the G was generally stylized to seem like head of a snake. Other assertion buckles could also be heart- or dragonfly-shaped. New inventive director Alessandro Michele has played a big role in redefining luxurious for the twenty first century. Bringing a luxury-retro fusion to the long-lasting style house. The collection “once again addresses the curious drawing from values of self-discovery and self-expression that define both brands,” based on a Gucci information release. You might have noticed on my instagram feed that I recently got a Gucci Belt. Ever since I started posting outfits with my Gucci Belt, I’ve been bombarded with questions about how I made the purchase, discovered sizing and made a Gucci belt work for my physique. Gucci will settle for returns only inside 30 days of buy. So after you have inspected your belt and have decided to keep it, you will not be able to return it after 30 days even if you didn’t add any holes to it. I actually have serious doubt that Gucci will honor any returns after the 30 day time period due to defect. The belt comes with solely 5 holes and the length in centimeters signifies the measurement from the tip of the buckle to in regards to the third, or center, hole. If there’s one factor in my wardrobe that I put on most, it has to be my Gucci belt. I often get requested about sizing so I thought I’d share a full guide on shopping for one. My Gucci belt has turn out to be a classic wardrobe accent that instantly elevates even the most primary outfits and its versatility makes it a great funding. While the hype surrounding the Gucci belt has dwindled down because it was first launched, don’t underestimate the timelessness of this belt. Similar to other designer belts made by Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton – the Gucci belt is a wardrobe staple that can stand the take a look at of time. I own the belt in three completely different colors , but I put on the black one most frequently.

Raven's Peak
Tumblr media
Raven’s Peak (World on Fire Book 1) by Lincoln Cole is one of the books I’ve read that have the best prologues. The beginning starts with Reverend, Arthur, who has been to a special jail that holds supernatural entities. The author wrote Arthur’s struggles so beautifully and vividly that I could feel his struggles on my own. Frieda, one of Arthur’s former colleagues comes to ask for help from him, Frieda knows Arthur can’t deny her request when it comes to Abigail, a girl he rescued in the past from a cult. He sees Abigail as part of his family even if they aren’t bonded with blood. After the end of the prologue, Haatim takes the spotlight of the story. Haatim is a theology graduate, since an early age, he always had faith in God but since the day he lost his sister to cancer he has been questioning his faith in God. One day, when he was at the local library, he receives an unusual job from a stranger and he thought it would be a good opportunity to get his mind off his grief but that is the day he encounters Abigail. Haatim keeps following Abigail after the day she saved him in the hope she will keep protecting him. The story continues with Haatim and Abigail’s journey to the Raven’s Peak.
I could not put this book down, I caught myself reading this book every moment I was not working. This fast-paced book truly was enjoyable to suck in for a while. The story caught my interest from the beginning and the plot twists keep my curiosity and excitement until the very end. I like how the author describes every scene as realistically as possible and no-nonsense. The way the author conveyed his story is easy to understand and visualize. Other than that, I also like how Abigail and Haatim’s relationship developed from strangers to partners.
Even though I enjoyed reading the book, I still noticed small mistakes from time to time. Not that at all, I have a little problem with Haatim’s naïveté. The way he reacts to certain events and doesn’t know what to do in certain situations shows how naive he is.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The storyline is interesting but the few errors I found throughout the story are one of the reasons I didn’t rate the book 4 stars. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in horror, thriller, and mystery.

Tumblr media
8:55am, sunday
sunday mornings had always been your favourite, especially in spring. your room was facing east, so you had the morning sun shining through your window and wake you. in addition to the gentle ascending, you also went to the library every sunday, it being your favourite part of the week. whether it was to work on your rapports for your job, or if it was just to read a good book, it was quite peaceful, allowing you to rejuvenate.
your local library was the cutest little thing, having the most comfortable seats you had ever experienced. the staff there was also very kind and helpful, giving you the brightest smiles they could muster when you entered the study.
walking in and having a seat in your regular spot, you greeted the staff quietly, they doing the same. your usual place was in the way back in a booth where you felt almost a bit sheltered from the world; and seeing as it was sunday after all, you weren’t the only regular. a man in his mid twenties was sat in the booth against the opposite wall from you, as he usually did. you had seen him quite a lot around, so much so that you were on greeting terms. as you sat down, he perked his head up from his book, giving you a nod and a smile, and you reciprocated, adding in a small wave.
he was well built, and stood a few inches over you, but always looked much taller form afar considering the way he carried himself. his black hair was styled more often than not, but today he wore it in its naturally fluffy state. it paired well with his comfortable, but put together style. you thought you had caught his name once when you had been behind him in line at the coffee-shop across the street, where you had both stopped to grab drinks before heading to the library. however, this had been quite a while ago, so your memory might have muddled it; but then again you were almost certain it was taehyung.
he turned back to his book, taking notes as he did so. you did the same, and grabbed your things out of your bag, pulling out your laptop and your bottle. taking a sip of the tea before you opened your email was not your best idea, but it was too late.
new emails (18)
[email protected] subject: a regretful decision hello y/n,...
[email protected] subject: new spring sale now! do you want to travel to hawa...
you were used to work mails, obviously, but never from the assistant managing director. she was way up in the system, and rarely had any reason to contact you. you heartbeat raised significantly as your cursor hovered over the email and a faint ringing sound erupted from your brain, scared of what her regretful decision might have been.
click.
hello y/n,
thank you so much for the rapport on the florence purchase, but i regret to inform you that your good work is not the only reason i am reaching out.
the management has decided to terminate your appointment with the firm, effective immediately. we have lost three major clients, and are currently on the verge of losing a fourth, in just one year. we recognize your strong personality and leadership skills. however, the financial stability of the entire firm is threatened because of these clients we have lost. we have been put in a situation where we are forced to let you go due to budgeting reasons.
we sincerely appreciate all the effort you have put into the firm and wish you nothing but the best in your entire future endeavor.
best regards, antonia ford assistant managing director
your heart sank into a deep pit in your stomach, unable to keep beating at a regular pace as well as the ringing in your ears growing louder. this could not be happening. losing your job? no. you refused. your eyes lingered on the words confirming your termination, and slowly but surely, the realization set in. you were fired; from your only job, only income. how were you going to keep paying rent? hot water? food?
with a shaky hand, you closed the window that displayed your emails, and opened a new tab. it might have seemed stupid, but you did the only thing you could think of, and you put in a quick google-search in hopes of finding a job that you liked equally as much, that paid the same amount. in reality you knew it wouldn’t be that easy as you had gotten a ridiculous salary at the firm, and you wouldn’t be able to match it anywhere else.
the weight of the world slowly started to rest upon your shoulders, bringing you further and further down, on the verge of spiralling with the ringing sound becoming almost deafening. for the first time in your life, you genuinely did not know what to do, and by god did it scare you. your eyes started burning, and your breath grew short and staggered as a lump grew in your throat. biting down as hard as you could only worked for a few seconds before the tears fully spilled over.
you quickly wiped away a few tears, snapping your head in all sorts of directions to make sure no one saw you break down. the only other person on that side of the library had been taehyung, but he seemed to have vanished. not too far thought as his things were still placed in the booth.
knowing no one could see you cry was actually a bit of a reassurance as you hated feeling weak, but in a situation like this, what else could you really do? placing your head in your hands felt instinctive, and you let your body run on autopilot at this point. your breaths were short, but had evened out, stopping the waterworks for now. the suppression of the tears however, made you shake slightly, but you shifted your focus away from that when you heard footsteps above the ringing sound. you picked up your head when the steps stopped next to you, seeing taehyung standing there with two plastic cups of water.
meeting his eyes did something to you, and before you knew it, the tears were back. however, this time, they were quiet, just peacefully streaming down your face and pooling at the neckline of your shirt.
“woah, hey, are you okay?” taehyung spoke, placing the two cups of water down on the table in front of you. “i just got you some water, i hope that’s fine. what’s going on?” he spoke softly, so no one but you could hear him, even in the only other people where in an entirely different wing of the library.
you had heard him perfectly clear, but you had difficulties replying, resulting in your response only being a short exhale. taehyung didn’t know what else to do, so he sat down next to you in the booth, once again trying to ask what was going on. seeing as it was impossible for you to talk at this time, you just lifted your hand to the mousepad of your laptop, and opened the window containing your emails, and clicked on the one from your firm. after doing so, you softly pushed it so it was facing him, allowing him to read it.
“let go? i’m so sorry-.. y/n.” he started, and paused when he realized he didn’t know your name, looking at the screen for answers. you took a deep breath and released it slowly, finally finding your voice.
“i just have no idea what i’m going to do.” you voice broke slightly, but not enough for you to stop talking. “i got that job fresh out of school. i have no other experience, no one is going to hire me.”
talking about it didn’t feel great, ergo the re-start of the crying. you let your head fall back onto the booth-sofa, staring at the ceiling as the tears fell, now down the sides of your face, wetting your hair.
“i’m so sorry, if there is anything i can do to help, please let me know.” he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, but as the ringing had gone down significantly since taehyung had gotten there, you heard him fine. you lifted your head back up and dried your temples, not that it mattered. you didn’t know what to ask of him, as you didn’t even know what to do yourself, so you remained quiet. maybe that was what you needed, for the world to shut up for a moment, for the ringing to stop.
it almost seemed like taehyung could read your mind, cause he didn’t say anything after that, he just sat there with you, letting you be quiet. letting the world around you slow to a stop, and having it go dead silent.

i dont know if i completely love this piece.. anyways-

Red Velvet Cake | Morinozuka Takashi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: He enjoys going to the book shop you work at.
READER: gender neutral
WORDS: 791
WRITTEN: 04/14/2021
NOTES: Thank you for requesting from my event! "I could listen to you all day." + You work at a bookstore and they meet you there.
Tumblr media
You worked at a local book store. You restocked the books, were the cashier, and you read to the children every day before noon.
Mori often came by to watch and listen to you during that day. He simply stood in the back quietly.
You only knew his name because he came by every day and you always checked in with him to see what he needed.
The book store you worked at was also a café, so you would often see him sitting at a table with a cappuccino and a book.
He rarely talked, but he showed that he was listening to your rambles by nodding and smiling faintly.
He was nice to look at you and your eyes naturally gravitated toward him whenever he came by—which was often.
You didn't work at a library, so he would have to purchase books each time he came, which was daily.
You were sure he could have bought books online or simply buy books at once, but he seemed to like coming in.
A part of you wanted to believe that he was coming for you. After all, he always sought you out, whether it be recommending a book to him or asking you about your day.
He did talk, but it was always brief and polite. You didn't mind because you often filled the silence with your long rants and excited voice, but he liked that.
"Thank you for coming everyone," you said to the children. "There are some lollipops by the door. Please grab one and make sure to clean up after yourselves."
You bowed and bid goodbye to the children and their parents before placing the book you were reading away.
You approached Mori who straightened up. You offered him a faint smile and he nodded in acknowledgment.
"Another book today, Mori?" you questioned.
He nodded.
"You must like it here, huh? I do too. I'm really fortunate to be able to get a job I love."
"You're good with kids," he said.
"Thank you. I took care of the neighborhood kids when I was a teenager and I was in some programs at school where I had to look after kids whose parents couldn't come pick them up right away. I'm sorry. You must be tired of having to hear me speak all the time."
"I could listen to you all day," he said.
"Oh." Your face grew hot. "Thank you.”
He nodded. “You’re on break now, correct? Will you sit with me at the cafe?”
You were certain this was the most you had ever heard him speak before, so you were a bit flustered and surprised. You nodded in response to his question and he led you toward the cafe.
“I’ll pay,” he said as the two of you were seated at a table in the back.
“Oh, no, that’s okay.”
He gave you a dead stare, making you gulp and give into him. He nodded in satisfaction at your submission, then opened the menu for you. To get rid of the silence, you began rambling.
“I always get a slice of the red velvet cake. It’s really good. When I first applied for this job, I was surprised to learn that this book store had a cafe with its own bakery. I thought it was super cute and I absolutely fell in love.” You cleared your throat. “What do you usually get?”
He pointed to the cappucino and the croissant before raising his hand to call attention to the worker.
“The usual, Mori, Y/N?” they asked.
The two of you nodded at the same time, then fell into another silence as the worker left to prepare the snacks and drinks the two of you ordered.
“How are you today?” you asked.
“Good.”
You nodded. “Um—you must really love books, right? You come here every day and are always purchasing new books.”
“I come here for you.”
“Oh. Oh—do you mean, like—Well, actually, I’m not sure what that means,” you muttered.
“This is a date,” he said.
“It is? I mean, I don’t mind. I’ve always imagined what a date with you would be like. Oh, please ignore what I just said.”
There was a faint smile on his lips and you briefly saw it before your coworker came back with a slice of red velvet cake, a cappucino, and a croissant.
Deciding to take a chance to not misunderstand anything anymore, you opened your mouth and asked, “Do you want to go out this weekend?”
He lifted the cup to his lips and drank from it before setting it down onto the saucer. He nodded in response to your question and you smiled.
“Great! I—Should you pick me up or…?”
“I’ll call you.”

alternative places to buy books instead of amaz*n
edited: removing abebooks from this list because i've been informed it's an amzn subsidiary. thanks!
i apologize in advance, these sources are generally best for people looking for books in the U.S. and not outside of it. this is by no means a comprehensive list; please feel free to add onto this list, especially if you know of places that cater to customers outside of the U.S.
used books
- thriftbooks (used and new, ships outside of U.S. at higher cost): you can usually get used popular books here for under $10 and they'll generally come in very good shape. for U.S. domestic orders, shipping is free for orders $10 or more, and only $0.99 for anything under. this was one of my favorite places to buy books for class when I was in college. they also have a points reward system, so every purchase gets you a certain amount of points, and if you earn enough, you get a $5 credit, which is generally enough to get you a free book.
- goodwill books (used, only operates in the U.S.): rather than aimlessly searching shelves in a physical store, goodwill has an online database that sells games, movies, and music in addition to books. free standard shipping on all orders, but shipping can take a while depending on where your order is coming from. it depends on what you're looking for, but books will generally be very cheap. i almost paid $50 for a book before finding it here for $10, and it came in near-perfect condition.
- abebooks (new and used, ships to many different locations): in addition to new and used books, this might also be a good resources for students to find cheap(er) textbooks. you also have the option to sell your textbooks back to them when you're done.
- bookmooch (a bartering system for used books, good for non-English texts, works worldwide): i haven't personally used this one, so this is just what i know from online information, but instead of buying books, there's a point system that allows you to give away and receive books. you list which books you own and want to give away, then someone can request that book from you. you ship it out to them and pay shipping fees (the only money you'll spend) and then gain points, allowing you to request books from others.
- bookoff (used, physical store, locations only in U.S.): their online store is only for buying anime figures and manga, but if you have a location near you like i do, i suggest you go there! unfortunately, the majority of them are in California, but they have a $1 section, where i've gotten a lot of good books. they also sell movies, music, video games, video game consoles, used electronics, and one time i randomly got a set of rubber stamps there.
new books
- bookshop (ships to U.K., Spain, and U.S.): an online bookstore meant to support independent bookstores by dedicating a certain portion of their profits to helping independent bookstores and providing a platform to connect you to independent booksellers . their "find a bookstore" feature is my favorite because they'll recommend you independent booksellers in your area and you can avoid the shipping costs and wait.
- indiebound: similar to bookshop except you can't buy directly from this website, but what it does is connect you to local booksellers based on your location and you can buy directly from their websites or go in person.
- just buy from indie shops' websites if they have one
other ways to get books
- this generally won't work with big publishers, but if the book's publisher is small enough, you can buy it directly from them
- just check for shops you can go to in your area!
- i know this is meant to be a resource for buying books, but also just borrow! borrow books from your local library or get them electronically. you can get access and borrow ebooks from your library using the mobile app Libby, and you don't need a kindle to read the books on, you can read directly from the app.
- if your library doesn't have the book you want, you can sometimes request an order. or you can do an inter-library loan, where your library will request it from another library system, though there might be a fee of a couple dollars.
- my final note. there is no need to buy the Twilight series new. every single used bookstore i've gone to has had multiple copies of the entire series for, like, a dollar for each book. i am generally very big on supporting authors because their income is nowhere near as glamorous as actors or directors, but SM will be fine. whatever you were willing to spend on the books, just donate that to moving the Quileute nation to higher ground
