maybe it's because i was reading orv before reading dod but debut or die feels like a love letter to idols and fandom the way orv feels like a love letter to readers.

i just keep thinking about the world of the screen. keundal receiving strength through gun134's fancams, despite never meeting. moondae receiving keundal's wishes and help through the system screen.

idols and fans live in two worlds, but they meet through the screen. what connects them? what makes the two worlds connect? why do idols keep performing, why do the audience — the fans — keep watching?

it's fun.

just like testar's concept — it's because it's fun.

because it's fun, because it makes you laugh, because it makes you scream, because it makes you cry.

because you share those emotions, the two worlds are connected.

and when you meet the idols live, those two worlds overlap for a moment and those emotions spill out.

gunwoo, who captured idol videos just to make money. gunwoo, who helped keundal during the worst time of his life through the screen. gunwoo, who lived in an isolated world but still touched others' hearts through the videos he uploaded.

and when they met outside the world of the screen, he once again helped keundal. keundal who cast the wish to help the one who helped him and became the screen itself.

because ryu gunwoo was his idol even before he was park moondae. because park moondae (ryu gunwoo) saved his heart, even before everything.

gunwoo gave him the world of the screen that saved him, and then keundal cast a wish to give him a world that loves him through the screen

idk i keep thinking about how much moondae loves his fans and how much they love him. how their prayers and hopes reached him when he was comatose. how he's always planning to make sure the fandom is having fun and not tired to support testar. how he may not be the og "park moondae", but he's undoubtedly testar's park moondae.

marina, in this trailer, doesnt seem to be speaking through the same mic with pearl like octo expansion. so if were looking at it in a positive-nothing-bad-happened-to-marina light, marina has her own robot that isnt shown in the trailer. but my main guess is that something happened to marina like being sucked in like dedf1sh and lost within wherever they are

┈─ 𖧷 we had flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart ? we love what we love. reason does not enter into it. CLÉO WITH TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

CHOI YEONJUN 𓄹 despite briefly meeting each other in their respective groups at award shows and the like, the two of them didn’t officially meet until they started mcing together at inkigayo in july of 2023. and much like her twin, cléo strikes him as someone who is honest upfront with a liking towards sly commentary and witty remarks. cléo finds him both funny and also never wants to see his shoe collection. two things can exist at once ! banter and pretending they have light beef on camera is a major part of their friendship.

LEE KISUNG ( @wondrelove ) 𓄹 meeting kisung actually stopped the world from spinning for a total of three seconds. the world’s axis titled even more, resulting in onscreen chaos when stray kids and txt happen to be within each other’s vicinity and stress between their respective leaders. it’s not their fault the two of them just clicked and happen to leave chaos in their wake.. ( think changbin and wooyoung. they feed off each other’s energy. only cléo would rather give up coffee for the rest of her life than willingly perform aegyo. )

CHOI SOOBIN 𓄹 she thinks he’s so sweet ): upon surprise visiting alexei on one of her rare off days, she bumped into him in one of the hallways and — despite looking exactly like one of the people he’s been working and dorming with — he thought she was a lost trainee and offered to walk her back to the waiting area. when he did eventually connect the dots ( aka, staring at the set of twins with a mix of awe and disbelief ), he apologized countless times before essentially ghosting her out of embarrassment. if anything, it made her more inclined to seek him out, and now they’re at a point where they hold a lot of respect towards each other. even if he gets embarrassed still whenever someone brings up that story.

CHOI BEOMGYU 𓄹 # 1 enemy and bane of her existence. the two of them almost squared up within fifteen minutes of meeting each other, and while no squabble happened, that doesn’t stop the two of them from throwing light shots at each other. think cléojun but much more chaotic. ( the two actually are good friends and don’t actually feel the need to square up anymore, but where’s the fun in suddenly stopping the shade ? plus it makes alexei’s nerves heighten, and if there’s one thing the two have very publicly agreed on, it’s that their love for pushing her twin’s buttons go beyond fake beef. )

KANG TAEHYUN 𓄹 she honestly thought he was the most normal one in the group .. ( and then she rethought and decided that anyone who willingly became friends with her twin had to be strange to some capacity. no offense. ) but she found out he had a cat and warmed up to him very quickly. much like soobin, they have a very respectful relationship and often send each other cat pictures when they have the time.

HUENING KAI 𓄹 she finds him so cute. so cute. adores his loud gremlin laugh and will be silly on purpose just to hear it. regularly dotes on him and haemin much to the rest of txt’s dismay—especially beomgyu’s—to which she just shrugs and sends another plushie his way. 1/2 of her sons.. what can she say ? ( kai also happens to be alexei’s favorite, so you know the beef between the twins is real. )

SONG HAEMIN ( @haezzzn ) 𓄹 if you thought her babying jeongin was bad, it’s leveled up to a thousand when it comes to haemin. like he’s actually her son. that’s her baby. she literally won’t hear otherwise. speaks of him highly to whoever will listen and will pull out pictures like a proud mother. in her eyes, he can literally do no wrong. the rest of the group could cry for all she cares. ( she does care. it’s just. that’s her son ! )

RELATIONSHIP. these two are best friends to the very end. their energies matched on i-land and they've been close since then. sunoo's bright personality and sassy demeanor brought sage in and she's been stuck since. sunoo also looks up to teagan in a way that makes him aspire to be better and train harder. these two love to relax and know when to have fun & when to work.

there are so many compilations on youtube that enlights have made of sunoo and sage being the sassy duo they are

Sage and Sunoo were the duo on i-land that constantly side-eyed everything. they were the two that were talking shit funnily enough.

when someone messes up a song vocally? they both looked around the room to see if anyone else noticed, and they ended up locking eyes.

these two are also the two who are known for their skinship. they can be seen laying next to each other on the couch and or with sage draped over sunoo's legs or something

sunoo is like sage's best friend and closest confidant

also! because of this only calls sage noona in front of others, because otherwise sage prefers that he doesn't. she just feel like they're close enough to drop the niceties.

sunoo is like sage's younger brother and it's very clear

sage loves to tease him about being a student council member when he was younger, joking that he used to be an “unpaid snitch”.

sunoo is sage's social media manager following her & the group’s public instagram release

he's often seen taking pics of her in bts footage

RELATIONSHIP. During I-land Sage was very off-putting, at least visually, and a lot of the guys were scared to approach her. But, Jungwon being his bubbly self came up to her and introduced himself and the two slowly got closer. But if you ask sage, after his introduction she was hooked. The definition of the, “If anyone hurts Jungwon, i’ll kill everyone in here and then myself”.

like i said a little in the hyung line post, sage helps jungwon feel like a kid again post debut

because with him being a maknae and the leader he doesn’t get to act like a maknae a lot and he’s usually unnecessarily stressed

so sage likes to take him out a lot and let him buy things he likes at least once every two weeks, she tried once a week but Jungwon threatened to lock himself in the studio if she didn’t stop buying him things T-T

but regardless— sage LOVES this boy so much, omg.

RELATIONSHIP. during i-land, sage was one of the few who could speak japanese so she decided to help him feel more at ease. these two share a love of dance and a desire to live their idol dreams. niki makes sage feel like she’s just back home with a friend, and he grounds her in a way the others can’t.

sage was one of the few who could speak japanese so, with her whole motto of “do no harm, take no shit” and seeing ni-ki’s skill in dancing and general potential she decided to help him out and make him feel more at ease

she was the one who approached him so he was surprised. especially, because at that point she hadn’t been too friendly with anyone yet.

current time— teagan doesn't baby him, even if she sees him as her little brother.

she knows he just wants to be respected for his skill and prove he deserves to be where he is ( which he has and continues to do, but sometimes he just needs more reassurance ) and sometimes the teasing can make him question

so she’s become very aware of how he reacts and telling when he’s in the mood for jokes or not

sage affectionately called him "tiki taki" and that kinda started the joke/nicknames between them and the meaning behind their contact names

ni-ki is the only one from the maknae line who gets away with calling sage noona ( w/ the exception of jungwon but he doesn’t really “get away with it” )

the two of them like to watch japanese movies/shows together, practicing together, pranks!!, playing soccer, playing video games, working out together, etc....

though sage is not super big on working out, as much as she used to anyhow, she does like to do some exercise with ni-ki ( + Heesung & Jake ).

their height difference shift has been insane. on i-land it wasn't too bad, but following their debut it only got worse.

even though the girl now looks up to niki ( literally ) she still doesn't let that intimidate her. many of the boys joke that one day they're gonna see sage kicking niki in the shins just so they'll be eye level.

they like to go to the arcade on free days ( and the rest of the maknae line usually tags along but they usually group off ).
